less stressful, no frustration summer might be to do just one thing.

This from WISN.com, written by Kendall Keys.
Getting around Milwaukee is about to get harder.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation is shutting down a major intersection next Tuesday.
In a news conference, yesterday Alderman Peter,
for jealous and alder woman.
Now, why do you call Joe Costa Zamorrippa, an alder person,
but call the alderman, an alderman?
That's just dumb.
She's an alder woman.
Anyway, warned of just that.
Tuesday will be terrible, and residents, frankly,
didn't know this was coming.
The southeast corner of the intersection of 35th and national will be closed,
starting Tuesday, 35th Street, Northbound Traffic,
south of national avenue will be closed.
Drivers will need to detour to cross the Viaduct, hitting North.
DLT officials say Southbound Traffic will remain open.
Drivers will be able to turn right onto national avenue or continue straight.
But I can go left.
This closure comes a 16th Street Viaduct, 27th Street Viaduct,
two major connectors to the cities, North and Southside, are already closed.
There's a massive project on the North, on national avenue that has eastbound lanes torn up.
So you can only go west.
What is this?
Huh.
In a statement to WISN-12 Trevor Fanon, communications manager for the Southeast region of West Dott said,
we understand construction can be frustrating.
Really?
Especially given the large scale and transformative infrastructure projects happening across the city this season.
That's what we're calling it, transformative infrastructure.
Both WISN-Dott and city Milwaukee appreciate the public's patience and participation in staying informed as we work to make improvements.
So I was driving today.
And as I was driving, I took the same route that I always take going somewhere that I've taken.
The problem is over the last month, month and a half, every time I left that one spot to go to the other one spot,
every single way that I went, I had to detour.
Oh, I'm going to go to the left.
Nope, detour.
I'm going to go that way, detour.
I'm going to go this way, detour.
This way, detour.
So I'm just thinking.
The only thing I can do this summer is just stay at home.
Yes, I consider some things really are a blessing.
And I guess my theme for top five should have just been, you know, fire.
Number four, from CBS 58, more than 115 fire crew members work to get a massive fire under control,
let an abandoned building near 30 second in Hampton.
According to fire chief Lipsky, the fire broke out around 6 p.m. yesterday.
And dark plumes of smoke were visible for miles.
Lipsky says that when crews arrived, the fire had already spread to multiple floors.
Firefighters fought the fire from a distance due to the unstable structure and collapsed portions of the building.
He went on to say that the building was mostly wood, which caused the fire to spread easily and quickly.
And then the embers starting fire in the grass and along the train tracks and that went on for several blocks.
He says they were working on figuring out the cause of the fire.
There's no working gas or electric in the building, believing that it came from an outside source.
Shocking from an outside source.
Well, as if a building fire wasn't enough.
Number three, this also from CBS 58, three vehicles were set ablaze overnight on Milwaukee's east side.
Milwaukee Police Department tells CBS 58 they're investigating the incident as arson security camera.
On these Bellevue place between Bartlett and Oakland captured someone walking up to a gray SUV around 110 morning part between a black SUV and a light pickup truck.
You can see the person poor or place something on the gray SUV.
Light a match and set it on fire.
Then they ran away and you heard the sound of a car speeding away.
A few minutes later, neighbor notices the flames.
It can be heard yelling surveillance footage shows a fire truck arriving about five minutes later.
Three cars.
And if you look at the picture on the website at CBS58.com, you can see.
You can see the three cars in a row all burning.
Now this next story is what I call an example of of fighting over what you don't have control over.
Number two, from Milwaukee neighborhood news service.
Five members of the social development commission I raised in concerns about the anti-poverty agencies governance procedure.
After calling a virtual emergency meeting on Tuesday.
No action was taken because there weren't enough commissioners present.
SDC commissioner Walter Liner said we don't get a notice nor do the items that we request get placed on the agenda.
Liner said he emailed a meeting agenda to board members on Tuesday.
Then stated he and fellow commissioners called an emergency meeting to elect board officers and discuss securing property liability insurance for the SDC.
Building located on 6850 North, Titonia.
Emergency meetings may be called by at least five board members.
It's according to the law.
If you're pretty much losing everything.
Why, why, why, why exactly are we, are we bothering to do all that stuff?
Sell it and be done.
I don't think it's coming back.
Has anybody told you?
Like contrary to popular belief.
What's that all saying?
Stick a fork in and they're done?
Well, that kind of overcooked.
And then my final story there, there, there are voting rights.
And then there's voting privileges.
And somebody found out the difference between the two.
Number one.
From Fox six now.com, a former civilian employee of Milwaukee Police Department has been fined $250.
After prosecutors say she voted in the city of Milwaukee.
Even though she didn't live in the city limits.
Marcy Patterson, we covered this story before, pleaded guilty to election to felony election fraud as part of a deferred prosecution agreement last year.
This past Tuesday, the court found Patterson had complied with the agreement.
And as a result, found her guilty of misdemeanor attempted election fraud.
And she was ordered to pay a $250 fine.
Now here's the back story.
According to a criminal complaint, Patterson worked as a Milwaukee Police Department community relations engagement and recruitment director from May 2022 to July 2025 when she resigned.
The complaint went on to say that when Patterson applied for and got the job within PD.
She listed a Milwaukee address on 40th street as her primary residence.
She is a part owner of the home and was listed on the D.
But in 2025, Patterson filed new forms within PD that says she had moved from 40th street to a new address in Glendale in 2018.
And then brown deer in 2024.
And a questionnaire court filing says she listed her primary address as the one in Glendale, but listed it as being in the city of Milwaukee.
The human resources brought up the discrepancy.
She said that 40th street address in Milwaukee was her primary residence.
Court fileings noted Patterson was eligible for a 3% residency pay incentive while she was an MPD employee.
And from May 2022 to July 2025, she got it.
After her position was reclassified, she received $8,226.78 and overpayments as a result.
Which the department noted it would not have authorized if not for Patterson's false assertions about where she lived.
Now, prosecutors said the investigation into the address and the pay discrepancy caused them to look at voting.
Well, where she vote?
Those records showed that since 2006, she has been consistently voting at the designated polling place for 40th street.
Contradicting forms, she actually submitted to the department.
She told investigators that she considered the 40th street address as her primary residence according to the complaint.
She had previously lived at one time and added that her mother still lived there.
So she helped her mother and had occasional overnight visits.
She said she currently lived, slept, woke up and left for work and an address in brown deer and before that glendale.
According to the complaint, when asked about voting under her Milwaukee address, Patterson said she did that because it was the address listed on her driver license.
Interesting.
Needless to say, I'm shocked.
She didn't go to jail.
It'll be in a black woman and all.
You didn't know, but she got a $250 fine.
That was gracious of prosecutors.
Hope that happens again.

Wayne said, Dr. Ken, I recently toured a middle school in Washington County about 20 minutes outside of Milwaukee.
Walked in.
I felt like I was inside an MATC campus building when you compare that to a middle school and MPS.
Our kids are behind before the race starts.
Who owns this failure?
Well, let me help you with something, right?
Let me help you with something.
Wayne, I want you to consider this.
Our great, great grandparents learn how to rewrite and do arithmetic in a one-room overcrowded,
basically school room slash outhouse in the south.
When they didn't build schools for us, the information you get is the most important.
Not where you get it or how you get it.
No Chromebook ever made anybody smart if they didn't know how to type or have access to the internet or read.
So all the accoutrements you can give to education, that's cute.
New desk, a new desk never made me want to learn more or less.
New chalk never made me want to learn more or less, but it helped the teacher transfer that knowledge.
So understand, if you have a whiteboard and somebody else has a blackboard, I just need to introduce you to technology later.
I may have to because this is all I have.
Do the best with what you have.
We've been doing ten times better or at least equal when less.
So because a school looks like it, they got the same issues in that school.
They got drugs and alcohol and teachers going after kids and kids sleeping with kids and doing crazy stuff.
They got that everywhere, the type of school you have.
And remember, there are more drugs in suburban schools than there are in public school.
I'm just saying.
I only say that to say, let's not get lost in the pretty, right?
Oh, he got a pretty car, right?
But they paying $1,200 a month for it.
So what good is that when you can barely pay rent?
So if you live in a house that don't look great, I mean, if the house is paid for this one thing.
But if you pay rent or mortgage in a house and your car look better than your house, that's a problem.
I'm just saying.
So consider that other part.
I'm just saying.

Black Book Thursday.
Structured opportunity.
So before top five at five, we dove into the weapons.
That we actually need to use, but.
The book makes a powerful argument in that black men.
Young black men, even today.
But this is back in the 60s.
Are written off by society.
Who have leadership potential.
That was never properly developed.
They were smart and they could do math.
And they could be able to add up and put together things.
So they did drugs.
And so drug only dealt with a limited number of, you know,
money and counting and math and putting the drugs together
and things of that nature.
Misdirected intelligence.
But that only happened because they couldn't get jobs.
Many times they looked in the community and said, well,
I'm not building that over there because that, you know,
they don't have the intellectual acumen, the educational acumen
to really do it anyway.
So and there was that environment versus ability.
They assumed because you came from an environment, you didn't have the ability.
I went through that going to college.
You came from where?
Look at what we do here.
I don't understand why we do the five through two or six thing here.
It's like hanging a envelope around your neck.
Or being proud from coming from somewhere where you struggled.
Not everybody in five feet two or six struggled.
And a lot of people that lived in five feet two or six maybe just fine.
Are they an anomaly?
Or did somebody realize that environment does not equal ability?
Now, Wayne is correct in some instances.
So let me go back to that, that, that walk a Shah middle school that he toured.
Environment can have an impact on your ability if it's a negative environment.
If the desk is old, that's one thing.
If the desk is old and it has holes in it and it's wooden,
and you can't write properly, environment will affect your ability.
But I think in the black community, we have leadership gaps in our community.
We have significant leadership gaps.
We have elected officials who just want things to stay the way they are.
Just like in the book in the movie.
Some guys in the police that that grew up with with Dan Freeman.
They just wanted things to stay the way they are.
They had been in that environment so long that they just thought it was normal.
They normalize chaos, they normalize drugs, they normalize crime, they normalize poverty.
But think about what Dan built when he created this group.
Think about that.
Discipline, loyalty, territory.
Identity.
Every organization can give you that.
Every gang can give you that.
Every fraternity, sorority, Prince Hall, Mason's corporation.
Gives you that.
Discipline, loyalty, territory.
Identity.
But in the black community, there's one thing missing.
And that's a chain of command.
And that's what these guys in the movie and the book had.
He created a chain of command.
And if you were loyal and disciplined and understood the territory where you worked and understood
who you were, through your identity, you followed the chain of command.
And that's an example of the output that causes poverty and gangs and crime because society has
written off our young men and women in the black community who clearly have leadership potential.
They just allowed it to develop in a different way.
8-3-3-2-1-2-1-0-1-7 is a number.
How much black talent has been lost because society only saw pathology.
They only saw our genetics being black and never ever saw potential.
8-3-3-2-1-2-1-0-1-7 is a number.
How much have we lost?
We know we lost it already in school.
We know we've lost a brain trust.
It's, I just, it scares me.
And with less kids being born, who do you hand the mountain to?
Who do you pass on like all of your legacy to?
And you realize they're not B1 that just made not come to pass.
But then I started to wonder why won't it come to pass?
You know, I won't come to pass.

I got a question.
I was doing listen all the time.
So that's how I feel.
Got to read it.

Hey, you got to, you got to, you got to call the technical people for that one because I, I can't,
um, Tim, can you tell me when this was?

So I was going to get some more information on that one or not.

We were talking about structured opportunity and, and, and why we've never really gotten
access for the black community to show our potential.
I think it's fear of black organization.
I think, I think America historically tolerated symbolic black achievement.
One or two people graduating, one or two people going to a HBCU and going to grad school
at a PWI every now and then you can get a Harvard or Yale or Princeton or University of Chicago
or MIT or Stanford.
That was great.
That was cool.
That was wonderful.
But they don't like organized independent black power.
You have to be under somebody's thumb or be controlled or directed by somebody.
Otherwise, you can't have the power.
This is the people that, that, that, that disagree with me, right?
They're the ones that did surveillance of black leaders to this day.
We'll only let community organizing get to a point.
I watched it after the shooting in Sherman Park and black people met with the park department
and the crowd got smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller.
And I remember my captain at the time said, oh, see, everything's working out because not a lot of people come.
I said, no, they're not coming because they're fed up.
I said, you don't understand the black community.
Oh, it'll be fine.
And then the next day, boom.
Literally, the next day after that conversation, I'll help Brooklyn's.
And so when you don't understand, you just want everything to go away.
Economic independence.
You know, harder this to start a business.
You know, harder this to get money for a business.
That's not by accident.
And then the information you get, who controls the information?
Where are the black information centers in America?
Now that can't think of one.
And then there's just public perception.
How would it look with the black person leading us?
How would it look?
I don't know.
Well, you know, you sit in hiring meetings and they start coming up with reasons why this person won't be a good fit.
Well, because, you know, well, what do you mean?
You know, well, look around.
Oh, we got the tokens.
We got the spooks that are already sitting by the door.
Right?
We got a black person.
We got a female.
We got an Asian.
Oh, everybody got his panic.
So we can't have two.
Like what?
Like it goes on and on and on.
There's documented history of destroying the black community from the inside out with informants.
And I'm not talking about an informant.
That's an informant because they know that you're doing wrong and you're breaking the law.
I'm talking about an informant that you jammed up that committed another crime and then sent them somewhere else to go spy on people and fabricate information to show that they're doing something wrong.
That's a problem.
My question to you, readers of the spook who sat by the door.
Why does an independent organization often attract resistance?
And I guess anybody, eight, three, two, one, two, one, zero, one, seven.
Why is it when black people start to become independent?
That's when we are feared the most.
I don't understand that.
Oh, I'm gonna do my own thing.
What?
You're, you're, oh, then that's when you hear everybody.
Oh, you're gonna struggle.
Oh, it's gonna be tough.
That's when people ask me, hey, how are things going?
Oh, this is struggle.
Oh, I'm, I'm hanging in there. It's tough.
I will never let anybody know just how successful I really am.
I will never like consciously say, oh my God, it's great.
I made X amount of dollars and I did this and I did that and it was great and I never.
Because then people will figure out a way to come in and undercut you.
Had Dan Freeman in that book, not just excelled, but then touted what he did.
See what I did.
And was not humble, was braggadocious.
He didn't get booted out.
But because he told the line, he kept quiet.
He remained humble.
They gave him all the knowledge because he wasn't afraid.
And more importantly, there's no fear.
That when you're in an environment where there's no fear, you can work wonders, you can learn anything you want.
People feel comfortable with you.
And that's one of the things that we as black people have to learn.
But when you show independence, that's when you get resistance.
People all over the country, all over the world, all over the city.
Mr. Lee, you're on the word winning 101 seven of truth.
Oh, that was quick.
I didn't get to gather myself.
No, you didn't.
Then why you got, you must have heard something must have tweaked you.
That's it.
Well, everything you've been saying, you know, and about the book and the decisiveness of this,
you know, how the author wrote about Dan and these things that can transform a community of one like you explained earlier, one by one.
How one gathers information and how one just doesn't share that information within you and everybody.
And being humble, I mean, I'm just, a lot of this, I'm just thinking, I'm going to say it like this, I'm sort of making some comparisons to myself.
And those that I know because it helps when we learn to shut our mouths and just do set out again.
And if we do it, it helps when we learn to shut our mouths and just do the decisiveness is that we're that we're doing.
And the problem that they have is that they're no control over independence.
If there's no control, then yeah, there is that I can understand what is fearful, but they would prefer to have 51 in the stake of everything that we have.
So they have to have 51.
So I'm hearing you loud and clear and I'm taking it in. I just had to say that also about yesterday, about landing the plane, my son brought it back to me.
He's like, dead, you knew that answer. I said, well, it had been no fun if we didn't have that discussion because real talk.
I said, I asked him, I said, did you learn anything out of that? He says, he partially said it.
I can't say verbatim, but it's pretty much he said sometimes when you know a thing, you don't always have to tell everybody, but that's it.
You don't have to ruin it for everybody. You don't have to ruin it for everybody else. That's it.

So let me do this quickly.
So how do you go for revolution to practice to modern application?
All this stuff.
If, if, if the book was translated into today's world,
the book is what likely not be guerrilla warfare.
I would hope not.
It wouldn't be burning down buildings and starting fires and protesting and all that.
It would be what's this?
Cybersecurity, financial systems, entrepreneurship, media ownership,
political organization, education pipelines.
Like I talked about before, reading centers and all that.
Data and information control.
Because the modern battlefield is not, that I say, battlefield, battlefield.
It's not only physical, it's technological, it's informational.
It is organized knowledge.
It is structured knowledge is economic.
So if you were a Dan Freeman and you came back from school,
you were one of the talented 10th.
You went to school, you got a degree and out of 10 black men,
one of you decided to come home and be a leader in your community.
Well, five quick things you can do.
You need to teach people how to understand algorithm
and how they shake perception, how to build a business,
how to control a narrative that people have about you.
How to protect your digital privacy so that people don't take your information
and sell it and make trillions of dollars while you get nothing.
And then for some of us, how to leverage technology instead of being so scared of it
and running away from it.
Again, the lesson Spuku set by the door,
Sam Greenley, movie or book,
the lesson for today's black community is not violence.
It's preparation.
Because communities that understand systems cannot be manipulated.
Communities that control knowledge,
shape it and shape their future.
And so that's what people need to understand.
That is why we have to continue to work
no matter how hard it is to get it done.
That's why.
I just don't understand why we all just wake up and get it done.
I don't, I don't, I don't understand why we don't just wake up
see what's going on and do it.
It's got to be easy.
Oh, wait a minute.
It only gets easy over time.
It starts out hard.
But I think if we do it together, it'll work out.
There's always hope.
