But then maybe 70 degrees by Sunday and Monday, so be aware of that wants to get you coming up in hour number two here But first of all in case you have not heard breaking news about 45 minutes ago President Donald Trump said he is applying a 90-day pause on new tariffs on his trade war as it shakes the world economy
At the same time, he announced he was raising tariff rates on China to 125%.
That's one to five, 125% ratcheting up his tit for tat with Beijing.
It was not immediately clear which countries the pause will apply to.
Sources are reaching out to the White House for further clarification in the same message Trump said he was raising U.S.
tariffs on China as he works to bring Beijing to the negotiating table in a trade war that he himself started.
Markets are on their way up right now.
After a lot of people lost tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, 401K over the weekend,
Markets on the way up, but as we talked about hour one the real damage here is the long-term damage to world markets allies other countries finding other countries To trade with for the long term because they're not gonna put up with this work horse crap They're not gonna put up with this bipolar White House of of well or this way this hour be this way next people do not like market insecurity Just don't

And they will go elsewhere to trade for a lot of things.
Last thing to get to, by the way, this hour, we're going to talk about the Senate budget deal.
Here's something is not being talked a lot about because we get, we get so pigeonholed into the news of the half hour that we forget in DC there's a lot going on.
And a lot of speaking of long-term implications.
So we're going to talk about some of that in this hour as well, the Senate budget deal right now and what that could mean for us.
Also want to talk a little bit about Mark Johnson, the hockey coach here, the women's hockey coach.
What an eighth, a record eighth national championship with the Wisconsin women's hockey team this year.
He and his wife have a brand new project here in Dane County.
It's fantastic.
Gonna let you hear from coach Johnson here in just a little while and this is always fun.

I I've certainly I'm not look.

We're not here to hate on either company Both have their place.
I've eaten a lot of Taco Bell in my day.
We were talking about this with Luke Mathers before the show He he thought it was what he said a bad Arby's roast beef
is worse than, I guess, Bad Taco Bell.
That's a valid point because I only go to Arby's two, maybe three times a year because I'll get, it's kind of like a filet of fish sandwich for me at McDonald's.
I get a hankering for it.
I get an urge.
There's just a couple of days out of the year where that's like, I've got to have that.
And so I enjoy, and I don't get the fancy roast beef or Arby's, just the plain old roast
Yeah, with the Arby's dip and sauce or whatever it is.
And then I'm satisfied for six months.
Taco Bell, maybe I eat slightly more often because it's convenient, I don't know.

That's so funny, because I told I told Mathers, I mean, we're discussing it.
I said, well, I've probably gotten sick more often on bad Taco Bell than I have on Arby's.
I've probably had to use the restroom more often.
Because I eat a Taco Bell more.

Well, I would give my teeth for either one of them to be in the woods,

When it comes to eating in the car, it's worse to have Taco Bell because it's pretty hard to eat a taco without it falling in your lap.
Now, that's a great take.
And before you hang up, you brought up another great point.
Growing up in a town of 5,000 people in Southwest Wisconsin, Taco Bell, holy cow, you went to Madison.
And that was a real treat.
And it wasn't until I was, I don't know,
in high school or college that we finally got a Taco Bell and Richland Center, and it was a huge deal.

I particularly remember the small town excitement when McDonald's opened in Richland Center.

I mean, a lot of these fast food places, it's a, it's a cool thing because if it comes from a small town in Wisconsin, you don't always have that.
Uh, also, uh, Rosa Ann in Fitchburg's, uh, or in, I think it's Fridge or Fridge, uh, says Dairy Queen in Richland.

We had a Dairy Queen in Richland center for a very, a long, long time.
That was a, that was probably the first fast food place in my little hometown.

By the way, talking about people in a group in a little town called Richland Center in beautiful Southwest Wisconsin, people listening on WRCE from Richland Center, Chris in Blue River, because I mentioned some of the, you know, coming from a town of 5,000-ish people.
When you're growing up as a kid, I grew up in a lot of these things.
They weren't in our town.
And so it was a big deal when they come to it.
Now Chris at Blue River reminds me, and thank you very much Chris, he says, don't forget the dog and suds.
That was very big back in the day.
Dog and suds, it was on highway 14 as you're going kind of south and it was right next to Kohler Petroleum.
A great place as well.
The gas up at Kohler Petroleum at the standard station there.
And then you went to Dog & Sons.
It was basically like A&W, which we also had an A&W right across from La Crosse Cup Park where you played church league softball.
And so they had like, the people would come out to your car, they'd put the tray in your window and it ordered from a little speaker.
That was always a big deal.
So those are the predominant fast food places growing up for me.
Dog & Sons, A&W and Dairy Queen.
And then everything else came after that.
Uh, lots of other, uh, uh, textures here.
We appreciate it.
What's worse, Taco Bell or Arby's, uh, Tammy listening in Eau Claire on WCFW says Taco Bell is worse.
They have a vat of cheese, like a cheese like substance that they buy from a distributor in Texas that sweeps random cheese like substances into and cooks under a melted pot together.

That chalupa is fantastic.
I love a good chalupa.
Also, the curly cinnamon fried things, what do they call those?
Yeah, I can't remember what they deserve.

I agree with a lot of people that they're both good the problem is in the last few years I don't know if Arby's changed or my gut changed but
I've mentioned I've never had digestive problems from Taco Bell, but Arby's now consistently, every time in the last five years, I have immediately needed to take a long diversion to the bathroom.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh.
No, it is.
It is funny.
So yeah.
Well, that's a good point, because I think some restaurants, they change like the kind of oil or the brand that they do.
And for some, it has a reaction for some
unfortunately.
But I don't know.
I mean, Mathers has a good point that I only since I only eat Arby's like twice a year.
I don't know if I'm really qualified to say this or not.
I guess I would say only the reverse of what you said.
I don't I've never had I've never gotten sick from anything I got Arby's.
I can't say the same about Taco Bell, but I've gone to Taco Bell a lot more over the years, although I can't remember the last time.
I had Taco Bell because now there are so many culvers around the state that I'm addicted to culvers, not addicted, but that the quality of food is so much better than I just go to culvers.
And you don't have to go very far anymore.

One from University of Wisconsin, women's hockey coach, Mark Johnson, he and his wife, Leslie.
Incredible people starting a new project here in Madison.
in Dane County for kids with anxiety and depression.
These people are true.
We're just going to start this, all right?
Put up a statue of Mark Johnson on campus now because he deserves it.
Won a national championship as a player under his dad as a hockey player at Wisconsin.
I believe he won an NHL championship.
In the NHL Stanley couple though, I could be wrong about that one, but he won a gold medal in the big Lake Placid Olympics the miracle on ice team Was largely largely responsible for that mark Johnson was then he comes back to his alma mater and Is the very first women's coach and they have now won eight
national titles under Coach Johnson.
And it's not just his sports stuff.
Here he and his wife Leslie now are starting this ranch for the public here in South Central Wisconsin for kids with depression and anxiety.
So we'll hear from Mark Johnson.
And also the Wisconsin Timber Rapplers, one of the minor league teams of the walkie-brookers located in beautiful Appleton, Wisconsin.
They had to, their guys are mostly not Wisconsin guys.
as that's just the way it is in minor league baseball.
And so they put Wisconsin town names in front of them and said, say that it's always, it's always a good time.
So we'll play those before we get out of here.
But first of all, all this trade war stuff started by Donald Trump, obviously important because it affects us.
And we'll try to get to this tomorrow.
The things that are happening in terms of ice and the government disappearing people.
Incredibly disturbing.
We talked about this yesterday that now at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we have 13 different students, both current and alumni, who are here legally.
And the US government has pulled their visas immediately without any chance for redress and said, get out of here.
And yes, LA Tom, you're right, watching on YouTube saying any of us could be disappeared next.
That is correct.
We'll get more into that tomorrow.
But while all these things are happening, again, this is the part of the game plan of Trump and the Heritage Foundation, which wrote along with Trump's people Project 2025, which we know many of these things are already done.
That's the game plan.
And what it's doing is, and again,
To use the double negative, none of it is not important.
But what it does is it distracts us away from the kind of boring yet normal slash not normal in the United States Congress.
This week, House Republicans will try to pass the budget framework that passed the Senate over the weekend.
The president's led to see we haven't even talked about this.
The Republican-controlled Senate passed a budget.
The President's legislative agenda, of course, hinges on it.
Here are the basics of the 700, pardon me, had extra zero, of the 70, 70, 70 page proposal.
One, it would put the entire Trump agenda, tax cuts, border security spending into one bill.
Oftentimes to get it through Congress, they divide it up.
They're putting the kitchen sink in in one big old bill.
Secondly, an extension of expiring tax cuts.
The Senate would also up to 5.3 trillion in tax cuts over the next decade.
This would extend the 2017 tax cuts that Trump signed into law during his first term.
And of course, the majority of those tax cuts.
lean completely in favor of the ultra-wealthy billionaires and corporations in this country.
Next, the bill includes another $500 million for border security, detaining migrants and national defense.
We saw under President Biden that people crossing the border went down to historic lows,
that has continued under the Trump presidency 2.0, and yet they're putting in even more money for a problem that seems to be dissipating, although in it.
I want to be very careful.
Oh, Todd, you don't think there's a problem at the border?
No, there absolutely is a challenge to a problem at the border.
But it's how you address that in a realistic fashion.
And we've talked about it on this program before.
And as someone who dealt with immigration issues working for a congressman,
for five years spending a lot of time in El Salvador at the U.S.
Embassy there standing in line with one of the mill Salvadorans back when you had to stand in line to get apply for to get your visas approved I can tell you much of the border problem is caused by not funding embassies in country
It's not putting more money just putting more but money at border security It's fixing the root problem of why people want to choose that way in the first place Next the budget framework would raise the national debt by five trillion worth of T dollars The nation's debt currently stands at thirty six trillion What
My former party, what about all those fiscal conservatives?
Ah, not so much.
The Republican Senate plan has unusual twists and turns.
Among them, the Senate plan calls for four billion in spending cuts.
Yet, almost none of them are expected to come from committees in the upper chamber.
Next, instead, it instructs House committees.
to find two trillion in cuts.
And do you love that?
Uh, uh, the Senate, Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, all those boys.
Hey, we're going to, we're going to pass forward billion dollars in cuts.
Hey, you guys in the house, figure out how we're going to do that.
We did our job.
We passed them, but the house has to take it from your side.
That was pretty slick, actually.
So the amount the house originally passed was two trillion.
That includes the 800 billion in cuts from the House Committee overseeing Medicaid.
There we go See Republicans my former party loved to talk about cuts But just like Robin Voss and people in the state legislature what they never tell you what they never talk about is what they know to be true
that it's very tough to get deep cuts unless you're willing to go into things like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, things we used to call food stamps, helping the homeless or helping the people without their luck.
So what's going on here?
Well, it's essentially a policy punt to put it in football terms.
If this budget resolution passes the House,
then both chambers would need to write the actual legislation laying out the tax cuts and the Trump agenda.
Both Republican controlled chambers will need to compromise, but the Senate has the advantage in that negotiation.
Will it pass the House?
We'll see.
Only with pressure from Trump.
on several Republican members, particularly those in the Freedom Caucus, right?
These are the conservative folks.
I mean, they claim to be the true, quote unquote, true fiscal conservatives.
We don't want a larger debt.
We don't want to be further in debt.
And what happened, of course, has happened before.
We're going to see this again this week.
Trump calling up these members and essentially threatening them with their job.
Either vote for this or Elon will put in $20 million to primary you.
You choose.
That's the kind of crap they're doing.
So, and Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican Congressman from Illinois,
was on the bipartisan January 6th committee, along with Republican, former Republican Liz Cheney, Adam Kinziger made this point a couple of days ago on social media.
If you would have three or four, depending upon, you know, who's there to vote on the day in the house, but three or four Republicans would cross over and make a deal with Hakeem Jeffries and the Democrats, you could unseat Mike Johnson as the speaker.
Choose a compromise centrist speaker wouldn't even have to be Hakeem Jeffries and a lot of this stuff will be we take care of Think of the legacy of those three or four individuals who will be brave enough To have courage to put country first Now just kids in there or I think that's gonna happen.
No But just think how close we are
And people would just have a little bit of, you know, HUSPA.

What do you think of this House Senate bill, a budget deal?
Well, I think the polling, and I think all the people should be aware of, while they're cutting all these funds, the people like Caspatel is redecorating his office in DC.
Even though he's not going to be there, he's going to be in Vegas
his personal trainer along with them.
And the FBI, yes, and the FBI person, uh, Bongino, he wants a, the taxpayers to pay for a 24 seven, um, bodyguards for him, secret service for him.
Even, even when he is in
the FBI building was expected to pay for him.
Then there's Doug Burgum, who expects chocolate chip cookies served to him warmed whenever he wants.
And also he asks for the use of a helicopter that is specifically for fire and medevac purposes.
And all the time they're grifting on the the United States taxpayer.
Well, we're expected to have tax cuts and cuts to services and stuff.
Yeah, you you not fair.
As Matt Flynn likes to say, you nailed it.
You nailed it, Ollie.
You went through the list brilliantly.
These people look at the U.S.
government, us, the taxpayers as their personal playground.
I mean, Trump's out golfing.
With the song but we even get to this over the week of the met the Saudis and live that's the the Saudi made up Alternative to the PGA and Trump quote-unquote won the tournament and then I guess I had another a Trophy for the the professional golfers and this how sick it was there is there's pictures this trophy they are I guess to describe it like long kind of long diagonal
metal pieces.
And it matches up perfectly with the remains of the Twin Towers from 9-11.
That's how sick these people are.
And Trump's down there using taxpayer money, helicopters landing on greens or whatever.

Mark Johnson, head coach of the Wisconsin Women's Badger hockey team.
He and his wife Leslie, Coach Johnson and Leslie, broke ground on a brand new facility.
It's a facility they're calling Agape Ranch.
It's going to be a horse ranch for particularly kids with depression and anxiety.
And here's Coach Johnson talking about this new project and what spurred it on.
She sort of followed me around, whether I was playing or whether I'm coaching now.
And, you know, why didn't she do something that, you know, she loves to do?
So how can we connect courses with what, you know, maybe can help for the community?
So, you know, whatever's going on in your world.
You know, once you come on the property, you can let that down.
And then, you know, through even the simplest walking around the property or whatever that we can do to help them out and, you know, give them space where they can start to heal and create hope in
their life.
How about that?
Coach Mark Johnson and his wife, Leslie, and here's a guy said, look, they met in high school.
Coach Johnson and his wife from Madison here went to Madison Memorial, I believe.
High school and he said, look, my wife's been following me around through college for the Olympics, for the pros.
I'm a player and now I'm a coach.
And this is something she wanted to do, his wife, Leslie.
And he said, well, look, she's been doing all this for me.
I will.
Why don't we do something together that she wants to do?
So, you know, I look like Mark Johnson has been paid well over the years instead of buying some great big boat or whatever.
The Johnsons are buying this property and building this facility with horses, particularly for kids with their suffering from depression and anxiety and saying, we want to do something to give back.
What an incredible gift these this is and what incredible people the Johnsons are.
I did it without intending to, in terms of all horses.
But thank you to Coach Johnson and Leslie.
For doing this, because it gives me hope in a world where everybody is out for themselves, and it just makes me feel better.
that there are still people who are making it big time.
There are still thinking of other people and not themselves.
And it makes me want to just continue to go to Wisconsin women's hockey games.
And if you have a young woman, a hockey player, get her to a Mark Johnson camp, introduce her.
It's inspiring to go to these games.
And Mark Johnson as a part and his wife Leslie are a part of what makes Wisconsin great.
Also a part of what makes Wisconsin great.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the one of the affiliate teams of the Milwaukee Brewers up in Appleton, they have so graciously hosted this program last year.
As Tony reminds us, it was when we had James Carvalon and Trigvie, and we learned so much about the Timber Rattlers, well here, most of these guys that play for them are not from Wisconsin.
So they placed Wisconsin names in front of them, and this is here, wow, it went.
What the
walk.
We were we Joe.
are wager.
We are wager.
Menomone.
go.
That's always fun.
Because I think those of us who grew up here, we just take it for granted, right?
All these great native names that, you know, I think it's one of the great things about our state is that several of those native names have been preserved.
And, you know, Piwaki, Economa Walk, Manitowak, Manaqua, Chano, I mean, all these names.
And some of them got pretty close.
Yeah, Waiowiga, that's a tough one.
Yeah, it's not pronounced how it looks at all, Waiowiga.
So anyway, those guys got a little introduction to the great state of Wisconsin.
And I think that's great that the Timber Rattlers are willing to do that.
And the guys were all willing to participate in all seriousness.
If you have a chance, if you live in the, in the Fox Valley, or if you want to take a great trip with the family, an affordable venue to check it out.
The Timber Rattlers, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, they go by the T-Rats up there.
It's a great chance to watch baseball in a family-friendly environment and an affordable price.
And many times you get to see up-and-comers that you're going to see in the major leagues soon.
