To kick off today’s show, Todd clarifies a story from yesterday about the possibility of Social Security payments being interrupted by DOGE cuts. While former Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley is concerned about the future of the program, those who receive payments via direct deposit are the least likely to be affected by these incoming changes. However, new claims and those submitted in paper are predicted to be slowed and interrupted significantly.
Over the weekend, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth released a video. In it, he announced that civilian Department of Defense employees will be required to email their supervisors with five things they accomplished that week. This follows Elon Musk’s push for all federal workers to justify their employment.
At the bottom of the hour, Luke Mathers returns for some Tuesday Tangents. He and Todd continue the discussion on Sec. Hegseth’s new orders. These “five bullet point” emails demonstrate a lack of trust and respect for the generals that supervise the DoD. Additionally, the emails will be sent outside of secure DoD servers, creating a new security risk.
