Today, Todd dives deeper into what Donald Trump’s upcoming presidency may mean for the news media. He shares an article from CNN’s Brian Stelter on Morning Joe’s choice to meet with the president-elect. Upon further reflection, they may have had this meeting to avoid the fate of CBS, who have an upcoming transaction in front of the FCC because of grievances from Donald Trump. Brendan Carr, Trump’s nominee for FCC Chairperson and a contributing author of Project 2025, appeared on Fox News to speak about this transaction. Currently, in order to facilitate investigative journalism without fear of retaliation, journalists are protected from being forced to surrender their sources and notes. Carr implied that these protections may be in jeopardy, opening the door for corporations and politicians to seek retribution against any news networks they personally disagree with.
