This hour, Todd emphasizes America’s need for independent journalists, celebrating the work of those we do have. Before that conversation, we address Donald Trump’s ever-astounding descent into blatant authoritarianism. We have already heard him admit that he will be a dictator on day one, just as he echoed Adolf Hitler in referring to his political opponents as vermin requiring extermination. Unsurprisingly, the comparisons to Hitler do not end there. He now claims that those he dislikes are “poisoning the blood” of America. Read more here.

On the topic of independent journalism, ProPublica continues to keep us updated on the inside workings of the United States Supreme Court. This morning, they published a new article on Clarence Thomas and his alleged complaints about his compensation. It appears that the lavish gifts that he and other Justices have received are part of a corrupt scheme over 20 years in the making. We take your calls on this ridiculous abuse of power.
