Malort and Medicaid

This Is Wisconsin · Fri Jul 31, 2026

Here in Illinois, if you get sick, you drink malort.

But if malort makes you sick, then you can use something called Illinois Medicaid, which is the Illinois equivalent of BadgerCare in Wisconsin.

But there's a difference between BadgerCare and Illinois Medicaid, which is that in Wisconsin, we pay for Illinois Medicaid, and in Illinois, they don't pay for BadgerCare.

In 2010, Barack Obama, who's basically from Illinois, signed the Affordable Care Act into law.

And part of that law was expanding Medicaid for any state that said yes.

The legislature and the governor of Illinois said yes to expanding Medicaid.

So did the governor and legislature of almost every other state.

Red states, blue states, all kinds of states, but not Wisconsin because of this guy, Robin Voss.
