Milwaukee's Juneteenth is the longest continuously celebrated Juneteenth festival anywhere in the United States.
This is the 55th year.
What's your favorite thing about Juneteenth?
Black people.
I love being
black.
Community, everybody is just having a great time and celebrating each other, our freedom.
It's an opportunity to actually be more united.
It's not just Black history, it's just American history, right?
The challenge is that when the bill was passed through Congress making this a national holiday, which Tom Tiffany unfortunately voted against, not everybody was purely celebrating.
When Donald Trump became president, he decided that although it was a national holiday, he would reimpose fees to get into national parks.
There's no reason for Juneteenth to be a political football.
I think this is
the kind of holiday that celebrates what's best in our country, the progress towards freedom for everybody, and here in Milwaukee,

My work for outreach community health centers.
I'm here on behalf of SEIU Wisconsin.
Power to the polls is definitely out here trying to make sure people are aware that their power is in their vote.
We've done over 100 blood pressure screening so far, but if you don't have insurance, still come in.
Don't let that be a deterrence not to get health care, especially blood pressure in our community.
Solidarity is just a big thing.
Informing people whether there's
an election coming and out, that there
is always a time and a place to be engaged.
This is an American holiday celebrating the kind of progress that we like to celebrate in America.
That's how we do it in Wisconsin, and that's how we're doing it today here in Milwaukee.
