You see groan, Billy Bob, guys, oh my God, Michael, that, I mean, that was the thing

about Michael.

Didn't matter your gender, your demographic, whatever, he, so anyway, he comes up off

the stage.

He's got the fireworks and the sizzle and he stands there for like, what I'm sure the

producer felt was like five minutes, but it was actually maybe, I would say a minute.

No, I was longer than that.

It felt like it was longer than that.

We had to let people compose themselves because as the guy was telling the story, he's

like, you know, and I thought, you know, he'll wait a minute or so or a minute and a half.

He was like, and I'm sitting here sweating.

He said, and I can't go against the contract because the contract says, I got to wait until

he takes his glasses off to cue the music.

Y'all, if you did not see this and King Zach is pulling up the video now, so we come

back from break because we got to like talk about this, we're going to talk about Super

Bowl halftime, Michael Jackson flies out from wherever he's not human.

So I don't actually think that, I think he actually did fly.

Look, just, just indulge me for a second, and he stands there.

And then I remember he moves his arms, if y'all can see me, and he slowly begins to take

the aviators off his face.

What?

Crowd is going, like, I don't know if you remember, I can't remember which teams were playing.

They were mad that they couldn't watch.

No teams are worried about halftime.

Who's performing?

They're worried about, okay, whether if you're if you're winning or losing, how do we get

the Lombardi trophy?

But when Michael Jackson performed, they said they were, the players was like, like walking

slowly to the locker room because they were just trying to get a glimpse.

That's how cold he is, y'all.

So going back to bad bunny and Kendrick Lamar, okay, all right.

Because what was Kendrick spoke English?

There were so many people, majority people that were white.

I didn't understand.

So sometimes English, even though it's English, a lot of folks, it's because you got to understand

the culture.

Because I remember I posted a video after Kendrick Lamar's performance.

It's on my Instagram.

And I literally said Kendrick Lamar gave probably one of the most historical performances

because he said something without saying something.

And he spoke English the whole performance.

And they still didn't understand.

And they still didn't understand.

So don't give me that English stuff because he performed in English.

And there were so many people.

I don't know what's going on.

I didn't know what was happening.

I didn't know what's being said.

I think it's a code and excuse for ignorance.

Period.

Because that's what, that is what amazes me.

Was I supposed to get mad at that or something?

No, I just wanted to make sure you was looking at me when I said it because you're calling

me ignorant.

I just thought it was stupid.

But okay.

I'm so glad y'all both brought that up because again, a lot of the white supremacists and

racist people were saying, how could you have somebody perform in America that wasn't

speaking English?

And I was like, we had a brother that performed English last year.

I just didn't like the fact.

And you didn't understand it.

I just didn't like the fact that I wish I could have understood, put up captions or something.

So those non-Spanish-speaking people could understand what he was saying.

start going in.

And it's not about speaking English versus Spanish.

I think that if you speak English and you have Spanish listening people, you should show

something in Spanish for them.

Don't just do it on one side, but I'm not going to take how great it is because you spoke

Spanish.

Why do we ask black and brown people always got to make the other folks feel comfortable?

Why do we always got to, listen, it took me, and I've talked about this all the time

when I used to do the, the morning show with Telly.

I'm so sick of certain individuals.

Well, I didn't understand it.

It wasn't comfortable for me.

You know how many years of making it and constructing myself to make others feel comfortable?

You held their hand through COVID.

Why can't you hold their hand now?

Look, bad bunny, if you're listening, if you're listening, Poppy, I heard and understood

every word that came out of your mouth.

I understood, honey, I felt the energy, I felt the synergy.

I loved every minute of it, except, and this goes back to my original point.

Okay, artists, can we please go back to performing, because let me tell you why it's problematic.

stop as a people, and I'm talking to my black and brown folks, when we come back, I'm

going to tell you, we got to stop doing when it comes to leadership and what we should

start doing when it comes to leadership, and it goes back to a very famous quote that

came from our brother, Malcolm X, may he rest eternally in peace.

We for some reason always want to put artists on this pedestal to speak on our behalf when

it comes to political issues, and that's, that's a problem.

Horn, this included Dick Gregory, this included comedians, comics, trumpet players, baseball

players, show me in the white community where a comedian is a white leader, show me in

the white community where a singer is a white leader, or a dancer or a trumpet player

is a white leader, these aren't leaders, these are puppets and clowns that have been

set up or over the black community, by the white community, and have been made celebrities

and usually say exactly what they know that the white man wants to hear, and it is an

honor, actually, that they endorsed Dr. Martin Luther King and were against the honorable

Elijah Muhammad, that's actually an honor.

So thank you, I want to say thank you, I want to say thank you, Dr. Kim, you feel what

I'm saying?

Truth Nation, here's the reality, and this is not a feeling, this is a fact, we are literally

in the sense of the word literal, the only community that places entertainers, whether

it's sports, music, performing arts, at the forefront of our leadership, and so I'm

not mad at Sean Carter, AKA Jay Z, for leveraging that to basically a partner, rock nation,

partnering with NFL, look, that was a, that was probably one of the most pivotal partnerships

in the history of the NFL and hip hop, because the commission or Roger Gidele base was

like, yeah, hey, look, in exchange for Colin Kaepernick, now this is not a fact, I'm just

speculating when I do this, so y'all just find me in exchange for y'all to just shut up

about Colin Kaepernick and shut him up, we'll give you full authority for the NFL halftime

performances.

Now Jay Z is what, he's a, he said, I'm not a business man, I'm a business man, who

happens to be a very successful hip hop artist, so it made sense from his lens, it made

sense for generations of the Carter's, I mean, trust me, Blue Ivy, Carver, Carter, Rumi

and all the, they kids, kids, kids, kids, kids, set, so I'm not mad at Jay Z for doing what

he did, but I am mad at us, including myself for allowing us to continue this misconception

that, like, Cardi, I'm still tripping off a Cardi B, speaking at Kamala Harris's campaign

here in Milwaukee.

You remember that?

They had Glowrilla, Kamala Harris, and was Megan the stallion too?

Hmm, I don't know.

Make it make sense.

And so all I'm asking, Mr, Mr. Sean Carter and Mr, well, because he's like, look, this

is what I wanted.

Can we please stop putting these celebrities on a pedestal when it comes to effective leadership

and things that directly impact our community?

Cause let me tell you right now, they already got their checks.

Why are you all mad?

And Nikki Manage, like, why are you all mad?

She should be, she ain't got to do nothing.

She's a rap artist.

Like, why are you all holding Nikki Manage, like, when she went to whatever, I wasn't mad,

she's a rapper and I don't mean to make it sound like, but it's like, please quit holding

these entertainers accountable to something they've never committed to doing.

Like when, when Nikki Manage was coming up, right, and then was regarded as the greatest,

you know, female rapper of, I'm just, this is what people would say about her.

Are you kidding?

Listen, I'm sorry.

President Trump handpicked Nikki Manage, because he knows how, I'm just, I mean, like

I said before, say what you want.

Just marketing genius.

So he's like, okay, I want to continue to ruffle the feathers of black folks.

He does the same thing with Kanye.

And then we want to get mad at Kanye, we want to get mad at Nikki Manage when they, they've

shown us who they are from day one.

Trump has shown us who he is from day one, but yet we don't look in the mirror.

They can't be who they are.

Leaders, I'm, and I'm, I'm going to be quiet, Dr. Ken.

Leaders cannot be leaders without followers without without.

I'm, I'm going to say it again for the folks in the back.

So it's the same principle, like a lot of white people that are far removed from black

culture, including hip hop.

Trump. He's like, I don't really know what I'm supposed to say up here because you're

an athlete.

And y'all want to get mad at Trump.

Y'all want to get mad.

Why would you think he would do anything different?

He's like, oh, black people love Nicki Minaj, black people, I mean, he knows what, because

what moves the needle, absolutely, absolutely.

So we got to do a much better job as black folks.

We just got to stop getting poked man and the forgiveness and who you bring in front of

me.

You didn't bring the richest man in the world or the richest man in America, the richest

black man in America, who was not Robert F. Smith, by the way, but what's his name?

It's like in a follow him.

It doesn't, you bring people who have never done anything, have no track record.

I mean, have no, like, so what have you done?

Like why were we supposed to listen to, what's that girl that's marrying Travis Kelsey?

Like, what is she done that we would listen to her on who to vote for?

Because again, we have allowed celebrities.

They don't have to.

He told you how he felt.

He just reposted with somebody else there, so he co-signed it.

We literally said, y'all, this is entail on what's going to happen if this man is elected.

And what happened?

See, I wouldn't, I wouldn't even bring it up, so I'm going to change the subject, because

yeah.

But you don't get a little too upset.

Well, and I just, I don't like, because the thing about,

when you are arrogant and you're a narcissist, you don't care what people say about you,

as long as they're saying your name.

That is true.

Because from their lens, all PR is good PR.

So the more I say that word, you know, so I just want us to look in the mirror and understand

this.

We need to quit sensationalizing and holding entertainers accountable to be our government,

to be our leaders, to be our advocates, to be our civil rights advocates.

They're not.

And if you really want to go there, if you look at like where they came from, none of

them ran for student council, none of them ran for, for a student government.

That is true.

I'm so serious.

So why are you holding these individuals accountable?

Jay-Z went from, you know what, to being regarded as one of the wealthiest successful

hip-hop artists, entertainers.

And when he said, I'm a business man, he didn't say, I want to run for office.

He told you, I'm a business man.

That's why I'm like, you don't need to, you don't need to have dinner with Jay-Z.

He gave you the blueprint.

All his records.

Please, black people and brown people, my fellow black and brown people, quit holding entertainers

to be accountable for government, politics, legislation and overall leadership of our community

when they never committed to doing that.

They are entertainers.

I just did want to say that I believe that smart people see entertainers as leaders so much

as maybe people did.

It was a great choice when you saw putting them do Jabbar and Jim Brown and people like

Gary Belafonte actually putting in the work in real time to be there.

It is.

I think Barclay was correct and in famously telling people to look to their family and

to their parents and encouraging parents to be better leader because they're your first

teachers.

And at the same time, I do believe that just because I'm going to benefit and this does

not speak specifically to Jay Z because that's, you know, to me a separate thing just because

I'm going to benefit.

There are some things that I would not connect myself with is when it's going to in many

ways, decimate so many other people and in real time is decimating black families like

the people in Fort George's County in the near DC, many of whom were government workers

that just lost their job because Eli must say it so.

Princeton, I'm not for me personally, I could never connect myself to something that is

harming so many people, especially people who look like me, but Americans period, I just

could never do that in any way.

And I just don't think that it is right for any of us to connect ourselves to anything

that is as anti-American as to say, you know, allow people who are in that organization

to say they love Hitler and people who were enemies of our nation in the way that this

current administration does.

So, you know, I do have some disappointment for a fool I'm a fan of, you and I as much

as I love you, we got a lot of conversations in these about Kanye during his whole process

and, you know, our vows that we wouldn't even really talk about him as much as I love him.

And I know you support him.

And I think it's more that we appreciate their journey and see ourselves and people that

maybe we know, maybe don't make it as opposed to really seeing them as leaders and expecting

them to be the people that they were on the way up when you, if you notice, you don't

have to be famous or an entertainer to sometimes change when you're more successful.

And I think that's financially, and I think that's what we are seeing with people like

you know, I got to just, I got to say this to caller because a friend of mine, and thank

you for saying that because you know, I don't engage in a lot of conversations, especially

publicly about, yay, my friend, and I'm not making this up, y'all, she literally called

me the other day and she was like, I owe you and Kanye and apology, I said, I'm listening.

I was like, is this the first time I owe you and Kanye and apology, I said, I'm listening.

I literally put the, I put, I put the phone down the caller and I put it on mute.

as apes.
