Dan Sullivan. And again, before we continue, have folks folks need to check out the site, right?
You know, we try to provide a lot of depth on the site that really we don't have time to do here.
So, you know, we're not ESPN, but yet we can, we're kind of succinct in what we do.
And we try to, since we can't compete with them, we don't try. We just present a little different
view of college football. Yeah, I think ESPN has a few more people working for them than Sully said.
I'm pretty sure their staff is a little larger than I am. Exactly. So again, check it out.
Sully's College Football Page.com. Transfer portal. I mean, you talk about vital in terms of
building a program these days. Would you say that transfer portal is even bigger than high school
recruiting now? Boy, that's a good question. I think they serve different purposes. You know,
the recruitment is still, I think, to meet and potatoes of your program.
You know, it used to be recruit. We get Chad Holmes in, and then we develop him.
Now, that's not true anymore. Now, it's recruit, develop, and retain. Because everybody,
as soon as Chad, you develop into the guy that we thought you could be when we were recruiting you
in your high school years, everybody in their mother is offering you through NIL so that you got
the transfer portal, which is clearly being impacted by NIL. And, you know, so it is added
the element of retention. One thing that's kind of different, and I see who you have number one
here. And I read an article this week about how Texas Tech is putting a lot of money. They got
some folks that are willing to put up, and they are bringing in not just football players, but
they've brought in from even women's sports and other sports. They're serious about this,
and that's kind of in some ways an equalizing factor because for many years, you've talked about
high school recruiting. And normally it's the same schools up at the top. Now, with this aspect,
some of these schools that may not be able to bring in those top recruiting classes,
there's another way to go. And I think we're seeing some different names when it comes to
success in transfer portals, aren't we? We sure are. And a lot of the blue blood coaches don't like
it. Because what it's doing is, I mean, last year Caleb Downs was the best safety in the country.
You know, you could get some argument from Notre Dame with Watts, but nonetheless, this kid was a
freshman, and he was the best kid in Alabama's backfield. So why is he at Ohio State? Because
Ohio State went in and offered him big time money. They already had Burke, who many considered
to be the best cover corner in the country. Now they had the best safety. So what's happened is
there are instances like that where you're losing your top flight talent. But more importantly,
teams like Georgia and Alabama and Ohio State, Michigan, they're losing their backups.
Because their backups were four stars, high four stars, low five stars, but they would have
those kinds of players that they were still, you know, in the developmental stage to get them on
the field. And now they're gone. So your right chat is created more balance than we've seen
because Alabama and Ohio State and, you know, some of the other blue bloods, they can't hold them all.
That's right. They cannot do that anymore. And now next year, we're going from 85 to 105 scholarship
players. All right. Let's look at some of these numbers. So what jumps out? I imagine Texas Tech
being number one kind of jumps out. Yeah. You know, Texas Tech currently has 17 guys in the portal
that are coming. Yes, they're committed. You know, followed by LSU Ole Miss, you know,
you're going to see a theme here with the SEC. You know, Auburn at four, Mississippi State is getting
guys in at five, Kentucky. And then the first non SEC team is not other than the great state of
Wisconsin. And the badges currently have 16 guys that they've signed. Now, to your point,
as you said off here, there are also guys that aren't leaving. I guess it's someone of those
things you can look at the incoming on its own. But I think you kind of have to look at it as a
combination of what's going out and what's coming in. There's no doubt about it yet. And, you know,
I think if you looked for a bottle, you know, the transfer portal in college football is a little
bit like free agency in the NFL. And college recruitment is a little bit like the NFL draft.
Not identical, but certainly there's a walk over there in terms of comparison. And I think you're,
you know, that's why we're going to see more general managers and the like in college athletics
that have been usually the domain of the National Football League. We're going to see GMs. And
we're going to see people that are, you know, beyond the coaches, coaches have a lot on their
plate that I was even more. They're going to need a lot more help, I think. Yeah. And I think,
I think teams like Alabama and Georgia are going to have to start to think about looking at
three stars, you know, and bringing those guys in and have that whole group you're developing
as backups. And, you know, those guys, you can't miss on you. You got to identify them correctly.
But, you know, the reality here is you look down these pages who's missing in this top 13.
You don't see it, Georgia. You don't see Alabama. You know, because typically,
the guys that are recruiting Chad are better than the guys that are in the portal.
And what about the timing of all this? I mean, you talk about Georgia. You talk about some of
these other teams that are playing for a national championship this year. The Cavalters should change,
shouldn't it? It's borders on. How can we, you know, brain dead this up? It's like having
NFL free agency start during the playoffs. The playoffs, excuse me, the portal, it opens
the day after selection Sunday. It used to run for 50 days in the two portals now. It runs
for 30. They took 20 away. But what it did was it started on December 9th. The playoffs were
announced who's in on December 8th. So, the next day, let the battles begin. Now, you're trying to
win a national championship. Your staff has got to be focused here. And you can't devote a whole
lot of services to that. And then, in fact, Chad, your timing here is good, mentioning it went
up because it closes today. It closes on the 28th. Oh, it's crazy. Chad, there's a second one
that goes for 10 days and that'll be April 16th. But the timing could not make less sense.
No. You know, so here's the deal. The recruiting really needs to happen. Or the signing has
to happen from a coaching standpoint after the kids have signed. So then you can start looking
you know, who's leaving or where it is now. You've got the recruiting done. And the
departures are occurring. You know, and frankly, you know, I think there should be a little time
at the end of the year where, you know, at the end of the season, there'll be some frustrated
players. So be some frustrated families. So be some frustrated coaches. So be some frustrated
folks around. And if you have this opening up right away, right away, they're going to jump in.
I think sometimes you need that cooling off period as well to maybe evaluate, hey, you know,
this went right. This went wrong. But I think it's so easy to jump into the portal the day after
maybe a disappointing season comes to an end. And I just think that in that realm, it makes
it more difficult as well for these coaches to hold on to these players because everybody's
got to complain. I mean, when you're trying to keep, you know, a hundred people in your program
happy, you're not going to be able to do it. No, you know, and that's why I think they try to
create windows. But the windows, no matter which way you set it, that's always a possibility
that somebody's going to get aggravated and leave. And so there has to be, I think, one
opportunity for a student athlete to leave, you know, why? Right. And then after that,
if you're going to leave a second time, then the former rule of you sitting here,
because this is like, you know, Russian, let me ask you if you see the story. I think it's the
Vandy quarterback that went to court to try and say that junior college should not count towards
your eligibility. I mean, are we going to have players sticking around for eight years now? I mean,
they're going to have unlimited eligibility at some point. I mean, this is getting crazy.
Well, you know, it's fundamentally, you know, a paradigm shift. We're in the middle of it.
When's the last time you heard anybody talk about graduation rates or GPAs?
Nobody is. You're talking about Diego Provia. And he was at Vandy and he won that. So I don't
know what way that that works towards you're going to have people that are becoming professional
college athletes in the sense that they can have an eight year career. Well, you know, and the one
good thing is for, especially in football and basketball, the more high profile money driven,
the revenue driven sports, we are kind of getting the mythology of academics out of it. Certainly
are. You know, so whether whether that's a good thing or bad thing to me, I'm not in any way
in favor of it. But nonetheless, this has forced that where you're now seeing these guys simply
as businessmen trying to get the best deal they can get. Well, there still is high school recruiting.
So we're going to talk about that coming up and then you'll see some of those traditional
blue bloods back in the top. So we'll talk about that coming up next. So these college football page

So excuse me, Sully's college football page on 98.9 WXCO. That's the Alabama fight song. They normally
are up near the top of the high school recruiting rankings and we talked about the fans report.
Maybe some names that you're not used to seeing, but Sully's you look at where we stand in terms
of the high school recruiting. Same schools that we tend to talk about at the top are still at the
top. Well, how about this? You're looking at the top 10. Seven of the top 10 are SEC teams
and three of them are big 10 teams. So the big 12, the ACC, none of those teams are in the top 10.
So it is kind of a situation where those blue blood names, and Texas is one, Alabama 2,
Georgia 3. Those surprises there. The big 10 shows up at four with Ohio State followed by Oregon.
So there's two big 10 and three SEC in the top five. Then it goes up or Auburn who is making a
comeback to A&M to LSU, then Michigan rolls in at nine in Florida at 10. And then when you start
at 11, you get Tennessee followed by Notre Dame. And then as long as Notre Dame is in front of SC,
Irish fans are happy. So SC, another big 10 team comes in at 13. Is it surprising still that USC is
not higher? I mean, they tended to be a little bit down in those teens for a long time. It's always
felt like I've always thought they should be in the top five. You know, I don't get it. You know, I
think when Alabama hired Lane Kiffin as Sabin's OC, I was very suspicious right away that Alabama
was trying to get into that California market. You know, because when you're talking
best high school football, I think most people would agree it's Texas, although you'll get an
argument from Florida who has closed the gap. Then most people would say it's California,
and you know, you're talking now large populations. And then, you know, you could talk about,
okay, then is it Georgia? Is it Ohio? One team in the northward. There's really strong,
you know, high school talent. And so I think that what used to be selection by SC,
you know, in some annoyance from Notre Dame going after those Catholic school of the high-powered
Catholic schools in California in the L.A. area, they're getting a lot more competition for their
talent than they used to. When you look at, you know, again, it's about so many conferences. You
can be in the top 15, but still be seventh in your conference. I mean, it's so much that has to
do with where you are. And you can be actually down in the 20s or the 30s or the 40s and still being
in pretty good shape. Yeah, you know, and I think that's the argument that you constantly hear from
the SEC. They're always complaining about the strength of schedule. And, you know, as irritating as
they can be and as annoying as that can get, they're not really wrong. You know, I looked the other
day, South Carolina is playing Illinois. Both teams are nine and three. Illinois beat three teams
that are bowl eligible. Of their nine wins, three are bowl eligible, meaning they won six games
or more. You know, meaning that, you know, of the nine, six of them are not even bowl eligible.
We're South Carolina. It's just the opposite. They beat six teams that are bowl eligible and lost
by two to Alabama. They, you know, they, they battled some other teams, you know, and then, and then
won some games going away like that when they played A&M. So nonetheless, you get that. And there is
truth to it that the strength of schedule, you know, creates the argument, Chad, should you take a
nine and three South Carolina over an 111 Indiana who has clearly played a better schedule.
Well, the thing about it though, I remember reading history about back of the day when the Yankees
were always winning. And, and the, the old ad it was, well, you guys could play inner squad games.
If you don't like it, if you don't like the idea that there should be something that adds
for the other teams, it's not all about you all the time. And I sometimes get that sense from
the SEC in the big 10 where it's like, well, we should get four teams each. We should get, we
should get, well, if you guys want to have your own little tournament, then I guess go and do it.
I just get a little tired of the fact that they seem to think that they should get everything.
They get a bigger chunk of the money when it comes to the playoff and everything else.
Well, if you don't have competition, then, then it's all, it's all naval gazing.
You can have Alabama playing inner squad games all the time if you want. Then, I mean,
Chad, they, they want the best of both worlds. The SEC generates a lot of money. So a good,
a good example here is the team we've been talking about South Carolina. I am old enough to remember
when they were in the ACC. I remember Johnny Rhodes and Kevin Joyce and those kids,
they were basketball team Riker. They had great teams Frank McGuire was the coach.
And they were in the ACC. They can always go back to the ACC. You know, they could go back there.
And you know, what then they would probably make the playoffs. I think there are,
Chad and one that's hard to disagree upon is they finished 93 so did Clemson.
They beat Clemson in the last game of the season at Clemson. But because of the way this is set,
Clemson got into the playoffs. They didn't Clemson went on and won the,
and won the big or the ACC. It's such a rabbit hole you get down though because when you look at,
I mean, frankly, those schools, they spend a lot more money to put together their programs.
They should win. I mean, again, I mean, there's so many ways you can look at it. It really are,
I mean, these, and again, it sounds almost quaint to say it, but it's still college football. I mean,
so again, there's so much about it that I think that you're really enjoying, but are the things
that you're really to shake your head about too. Chad, there's legislation coming here in April,
but one of the things that's being kicked around is those schools are getting about 140 million
per team. And they're saying that 20 million of that will go to the athletes, you know, to their
football, to all of them, whether it's volleyball or hockey or whatever, that 20 million is set aside.
Now, the caveat for the administrators is, but you don't have to give 20 million.
You could do 12 million. Well, then Alabama and Georgia started saber rattles and immediately,
if we're going to spend 20 million, so are you, because the quality of the league and the quality
of our games needs to stay up. All right. So that means you're going to have better teams,
and that means you're going to lose games. So how are you going to then mitigate
most deserving, you know, Indiana? They want 11 games. They play a big 10 schedule, you know,
versus a team like South Carolina or Alabama who go nine and three and had to play against
clearly better opponents. Right. I guess it's about what you want. Do you want it to be an
open shop where teams can find a way there? Because if you literally think about it the way that
that they talk about it, you could be, you could be 12 and not go in because you could say,
hey, you played, you aren't in the right conference. So you either, and then you taught everything,
again, I've kind of pushed back for years and years and years about, you know, the power,
the power five and then the group of five. And you said, well, we should have a group of five
tournament. In a lot of ways, it still makes a lot more sense now, probably than it did when you
first talked about. Well, we've been ranking them separately for 10 years or something because of
the money. The other thought is, look, there's already a working format here. There already is.
And that is in the FCS, you know, the other thing that we maybe don't talk about enough is this
is not an NCAA tournament. This is a college football playoff tournament. They make up the rule.
They do. The conferences make up the rules. The commissioners make up the rule.
That's where the money goes, not to the NCAA. So you're not going to have title line issues or,
you know, equality of opportunity issues. This is not bad, you know. Yeah, no. And so
what the FCS does, what the NCAA does is look at there are 13 conferences in the FCS.
Three of them opt out to me act to swag and the Ivy League and shame on the Ivy League. They
opt out because the tournament is doing exams. So the bottom line though is the other 10 teams
get in. The other 10 champions get in. Right. And then what we've been saying, a simple fix right
now for this is have those conference champs get in. But then we see right then you wouldn't end
up with the calamity of the two best teams playing next Wednesday. That's what they do for the
basketball tournament. They don't give a team that's definitely is well below it's an automatic
number two seed because they won their conference championships. No, that's it's seeded based on
who the best teams are. You know, and the fact that they include a group of five team is them
throwing the group of five a bone because they're worried about litigation. Right. In the end,
they are still public institutions. These teams are all in the what the NCAA would recognize
as FBS, you know, the football ball subdivision. That's the NCAA language. The NCAA doesn't talk
about power for our group of five. They don't do that. All right. We're going to go back onto the
field coming up next. We have the quarterfinals coming up on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
and we're going to bring out the old game simulator and see what it has to say when it comes to
these four big matchups coming up. It's Southeast college football page 98.9 WXCO.

And Sully's college football page on 98.9, WXC, with Sully and Chad Homes, and coming up,
always the biggest day of the year for college football, at least it used to be.
I think it still is, New Year's Day. And this year, three of the four, college football
playoff quarter finals being played on New Year's Day, the other on New Year's Eve.
Let's talk about these four big matchups. And the first round, of course, was held on campuses.
This round will be held during the bowl games. Actually, I've heard some rumbles that people
said, oh, so good being on campus that maybe they should put this round as well on campus sites.
What do you think? Well, you know, I think there is this. For so many years now,
the warm weather teams always essentially had the home field advantage.
So I got to tell you, I found it somewhat uplifting to see the southern teams have to travel north
and play in cold weather climates, which, the big 10, typically, teams that are built for that,
you know, they run the ball. They handle the ball in the cold. And so it was a different experience.
I think this time, and I kind of fun to see some games up north in December.
There is one quarter final being played on New Year's Eve on Tuesday.
It is the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Number three seated Boise State from the
Mountain West Conference. Number six Penn State from the big 10 Penn State earned their spot
by defeating SMU in the first round, Boise State got the first round by. And despite all that,
10 and a half point favorite for the Whitney Lions, ESPN 630. And you put all the numbers together.
Let's start off with the numbers you put into the simulator. Yeah, the simulator, what it does is
it would say that Penn State averages 450 yards on offense, total offense. And let's say that,
that Boise State gives up 250. Well, what it does is it takes the total offense from Penn State
adds it to the defense of totals of a Boise. It gets a total divided by two and then gets a
mean chat. In this case, the mean was that Penn State would average 401 yards based on the numbers
against Boise's defense. Boise doing that flip it then. Boise's offense to Penn State's D.
It said that in the end, Boise would have 376 yards against Penn State's defense again based
on the numbers. And so in that scenario, Penn State gets a point. And when it went through
rushing yards, passing yards, third down conversions, red zones, scores, red zone,
just touchdowns, it found that in the eight categories, five of them, Penn State without perform
Boise. Now you've got to also keep in mind Penn State's numbers were basically earned in the big
tent. And I think we all would agree that the big tent simply is a better football conference
than the Mountain West. So it's a little skewed in that regard. Yeah. And but at the same time,
a lot of the numbers do actually indicate maybe a closer game than a ten and a half point
favor would indicate. Yeah. You know what I mean? We all remember back in about 2006 or when
Boise did the hook and ladder followed by the Statue of Liberty and they upset Oklahoma. So in a game,
you know, in one game, not going through the the rigors of an SEC or big tent or the big 12 or the
DCC. And on a night, you can win the game. I remember Bobby Corey, one of the great high school
football coaches in our area down in Mozini used to say, so we can we can go into the valley
and we can win a game. We could beat one of the better if not the best team. We just can't go
through that league week after week and take the pounding we don't have to adapt. And I think
the same is true. Here was Boise, but you're right on the night one game. Yes, they can they can
this game could be very competitive. And I imagine that they've been preparing for multiple weeks.
I think probably they were probably, you know, preparing for them over SMU. They're they're going
to be as they're rested, prepared. It's all set up. If they're going to win, this is the the
blueprint, right? Yeah, you know, I mean, the committee thought that they were more deserving
a higher rank than what they actually gave to the ACC or the big 12. They the Mountain West was
ranked higher. And so as a result, the committee thinks this is where they belong. The problem is
you and I have identified is the way it's structured. It's just structured really. But yeah, I think
this game is going to be competitive for at least the time. And you know, Drew Aller is going to
have to throw the ball down the field. You know, Tyler Warner, they're all purposed all everything
receiver. And then those two backs Allen and Singleton really have to show up. Anything in the
underlying numbers that jump out to you, we've talked in recent weeks about things such as penalties
and turnovers and third down conversions, anything jump out in this matchup. Yeah, so when we look
at these numbers, yeah, we look at them differently. Instead of doing that, head to head comparison,
offense added to the defense, get a mean and such. Here, we looked at three things. Who performs
better in terms of the discipline of the game. In other words, who commits fewer penalties? Then we
look at turnovers, which we all know is a 14 point swing. The seven, you can't get the seven that
your opponent now can get. And then we look at third down conversions. Can you stay on the field
on the money down? And so when you look at that, how Boise has done Boise is more disciplined,
commits fewer average on average penalties, 4.8 to 5.0. And we always say, Chad, you get one
a quarter, offense or defense, one a quarter. And then one to stay aggressive. You know, you can't
be so lazy, fair that you lose your edge. So we always say you get five. And then we say it's half
the playing field, excluding and so on. So of the 100 yards, not more than 50 yards in terms of
penalties. And so what Penn State, check what Boise State works out to is 4.8. So they're under
the five. And they're at 42.8 yards. Penn State, on the other hand, is right there with a 5.0
penalties per game. And they're at 47.3 yards. So close, but nonetheless, Boise out performs them
there. Boise only had eight turnovers all year. Eight. So they take care of the ball where Penn
State had 13 in 14 games. So they're under one a game. And then on third down conversions,
Boise converted 49% of the time, which is impressive. But so has Penn State said 47. So in all three
of those, Boise has a slight edge, whether it's enough of an edge, given some of the discrepancies
of talent and skill, we'll see. But they do have, based on this, certainly a fighting chance in
this game. What do you think is going to happen? What's your pick? I think Penn State wins the game
because I think Penn State in all of those areas are competitive, whether you're talking about
discipline, their discipline team, their defense, I think gives them an edge. Those kids fly to
the ball. I looked for them two in this game, two in the turnover battle. And, you know, while
Gentry may, in fact, be the best runner on the field. When you have Singleton and you have,
you know, Alan, you've got enough and maybe an edge with the depth. So yeah, I like Penn State
to win this game. And I would say buy a score to 13 somewhere in there. New year's day, Chick-fil-A
Peach Bowl at Mercedes Benz in Atlanta, Arizona State, number four seed, 11 and two, number five
seed, Texas 12 and two, ESPN at 12 noon. And again, a double digit line Vegas guys have Texas
is a 14 point favorite. Yeah, you know, and the site kind of agrees when it looked at those eight
categories that we look at, turnovers, obviously the lower number gets to points. Texas wins or
outperforms Arizona State in seven of the eight, the only category that Arizona State outperformed
them in were turnovers, which is an interesting one and one that certainly would raise an eyebrow
because of the potential points swing there. In terms of, you know, the numbers that stand
independently, in other words, Texas numbers stand by alone, Arizona State's alone, and then you see
who performed better. Texas is the more disciplined team. In fact, Arizona State has been a little
sloppy over six penalties of game, which six points, oh seven, but Texas, here's an interesting
stat on them. They have committed 22 turnovers this year to Arizona State's 11. So Texas really
has had problems taking care of the ball. They've been able to overcome that because of their
talent, but they're going to need to be very careful as they advance taking care of the ball. So
that's something that gives you hope if you're Arizona State, and then on third down conversions,
Arizona State is better. So there's reason here to be optimistic if you're Arizona State, you
got a fighting chance in this game. I imagine that everybody in the big 12 would love to see the
school that left the conference, get beat by one of the teams that was brought into the conference.
Yeah, I don't think they've been sending any get well cards to Oklahoma, you know,
six and six record and then losing a Navy. 100% right? And what the motivation in that
locker room might be or how that's handled would be interesting to see. I think some guys would
use it. Some guys might say, no, no, we don't want to get focused on it. But nonetheless,
it's there. And the fact is if Arizona State was able to get this done, you know, the big 12
champions take down the deserters, but you know, at some level, that would be a big party at big
12 headquarters. That's for sure. Yes. What do you like? All that said, I think it's going to be
a competitive game. I see this as being closer. I look for them to turn ewers over, you know,
but I think Texas defensively will make plays as the field shrinks. Yeah, when you watch them,
take just get better. You know, the field shrinks vertically, you know, you don't have to worry
about guys getting deep. You can, you've got an end line there. And horizontally, it stays the
same. But I think Texas, one of the strengths of that team is, and you've seen it this, this past
week, they are, they are great in the red zone. They're hard to score. You end up kicking a lot of
field goals. And I think that coupled with Texas overall edge and talent, Texas will find a
competitive game. Well, that's two of the quarterfinals. We still have two more to go. We'll talk

Are you excited that they're in the quarter finals before we even talk about these games?
Yeah, you know, I think that the fact that Notre Dame is there is really a lot to do with the
investment that Notre Dame has made to their football program. You know, going, getting Dembrock,
maintaining gold and keeping him there. And then Freeman, the thing he's young, and obviously he's
had some issues, you know, in some of his game management. But the guy is the best recruiter
that Notre Dame has had since Lou Holtz. So the reason they're doing what they're doing, Chad,
is their depth. They don't fall off the pool table when they bring guys in. And this year,
they lost an all-American corner in Morrison. They lost their best both of their best
edge rushers. And now, last week, at a critical time, they lost Riley Mills,
who's a six foot, seven, three hundred pound guy to place in the interior. That seems a little
tall that's shown a lot of the leg, but nonetheless, the kid has been in there doing a great
job so they lost him. They did get Howard Crossback. So that, that will help.
Let's switch the order since we already started here on Notre Dame. Let's talk about their
game against Georgia. That'll be the last game on New Year's night, the Sugar Bowl,
at the Superdome, and ESPN, 745 PM, 11 and 2, Georgia, 12 and 1, Notre Dame.
Georgia, well, you know, they were this close to being knocked out by Georgia Tech. And now they
lose their quarterback. I mean, it feels like if Georgia keeps winning, there's something really
in the water down there because it seems as though this was the year that it was kind of,
it was teetering a little bit for Georgia, wasn't it? Yeah, really. And, you know, Kirby,
obviously, was quick to know. Rest of us have kind of gradually found out that their depth is
different, not that they don't have guys that can play behind their starters. They just don't have
five stars anymore. That, you know, these guys, these really extremely talented players that
they can just motion in that game, you know, plug and play. So now they are like most programs
where they are developing the talent that's not quite as powerful in terms of skills
as that they're having for backups. So it's different for them this year. And because of that
yet, they are vulnerable. How would you rate this in terms of pure talent on the field?
Who's got the most talent? I would say that, you know, we do our recruiting,
our recruiting. And I have to tell you the thing that I hate about the transfer portal.
It is screwed up our understanding of rosters. We used to be pretty good because we would know
we do a, you know, four-year average over three sites. We'd look at the SPN 24, 7, and rivals.
We get a four-year recruiting base. And man, we had a pretty good sense of it. But then the
long came to transfer portal. So it's harder to know roster. And it takes more time than my staff
has, which would be me to look to see. You need a bigger computer. Yeah. Well, you know, we've
got 263 teams on the site. So that's not going to happen. But anyway, I would say this to you,
Notre Dame starting lineup right now is very close. You know, ETN is a great running back transfer
from Florida, playing for Georgia. But I'll tell you what, I think Julian Love is better. Not Julian
Love. Jeremiah Love. Julian Love is gone now. You know, and the price kit, you know,
to Darian Price, he's a really talent runner for Notre Dame. So, you know, you look in the back
field. Okay. Now, you know, Beck is gone. And so, you know, Georgia's quarterback. And they brought
to the kid that I, a player that I think Notre Dame is a little nervous about. Because when Gunner
Stockton came in, they were losing that game. And Texas was kind of controlling them. And you know,
he looked like he, he had been playing on a higher level. And he just came down to work out a
couple things in his game. Because the first time he got the third down and man, he took off from
made it. Then he made another one with a great throw. So the kid hit the floor running. So,
it'd be a city to see how he does. Looking at the simulator. I don't know. Did you
skew it to put a little green in there to give a lot of these check marks towards Notre Dame?
It is God's fight song. So, Andrew, no, this is, this just worked out like it likes Notre Dame
in total offense. 370, 375, the 361. The only thing it likes, George, in passing. But those are
Beck's numbers, not Stockton's. And it likes Georgia. And Stockton may very well be a better
thrower. We don't know yet. We just know he was a highly sought after recruit. And then they're
better in Red Zone Touchdowns. When they get in your Red Zone, there's a 63 percent chance
that by the numbers that Georgia will score on Notre Dame. We're for Notre Dame. It's right
there, but it's 62 percent. So, close, but Georgia would get the edge there.
Who's got the better quarterback this week? Oh, Riley Leonard.
He's been up and down. Yeah, he has. And I would say he's been, while that's true,
he has been on, you know, a 45 moving up. And I think that's his relationship to Dunbrock. You
got to give him credit. This guy, Coach Daniels, a year ago, got him to the Heisman. And they
have been gradually working things through. I think Dunbrock now understands him better
in terms of his skill sets. And I think they have put him in situations that are more
congruous to him being successful based on his talent. And there are plus one run game,
meaning they quarterback runs the ball. It gives you an extra blocker. Who's going to win?
Oh, man. You know, I got to be careful here with your heart in your head. You know,
I think that this is going to be like the other games with Georgia have been very competitive.
But this time Notre Dame has as good a talent. In other words, when they walk out on the field,
there are things that they are going to be not quite as good in some things better.
So I like the Irish on a neutral site to win the game. And we're projecting a 30 to 24 Irish win.
Very interesting. We have about four minutes. And then we have the Rose Bowl. The,
the old pack 12 pack 12 and packed a big tent. I like it. I like it. I like the matchup or
somehow when that happened, I thought Chad will like it. I do like it. And I think a lot of
people like it, Oregon and Ohio State, two and a half point favorite Ohio State. Is that right?
Yes. Oh, yeah. You know, I'll tell you what, the way that Will Howard played against Tennessee,
it was like, okay, that that Michigan debacle, I put so far in my rear view mirror, I would need
the Hubble to see. They started to use their talent as opposed to trying to win some sort of
material game, right? Well, you know, and Harbo, you know, I mean, I'd watch some of his
expressions when he was trying to process. And you had the impression that Jimmy was not going to
work for Scotland Yard or NASA, you know, he kind of thought, but anyway, he did something to Ohio
State. Basically told them, you, you guys are men, you know, you're not much enough if you were.
And it's like Ohio State said, you, you talking to me? Are you crazy? They fell into the trap.
Yes, they kind of decided they're going to knock them. They need to play in space.
What about this game? Because we only have about two and a half minutes to go. This is not going
to be a game in the meathouse. This is going to be a game for the athletes. How do you see the,
the athletes for Oregon and the athletes of Ohio State going at it? I think both defenses are
going to be challenged in space because they both can run. And you know, the difference
between offense and defense, yet, is when you're out of offense, you get first guess. You know,
I know what I'm doing. You got to react. And then if my skill sets, if you're a D back and I can
get within, say, inside your cushion and I take a step night, Bobby, night in basketball, you say,
get the defender to take a step in the wrong direction and you will own them. I think you're
going to see a lot of that. They're going to have to have help. There's going to have to be help
because I don't think they can line up with these kids and just control them. Like Notre Dame tried
to play Man to Man against SC. It's going to be similar. These guys are too skilled.
I like Ohio State. Yeah, is there a specific area that you say Ohio State? Is there a specific
area that you think Ohio State does have that edge that could be the difference?
I think Jeremiah Smith, I don't think that guy's coverable. And then you've got a guy who's
probably, or at least you could make an argument, is the second best receiver in the country in
Nabooca. So I've Howard's playing the game with confidence and throwing the ball down the field.
I think he can stretch that deep coverage and then the undercoverage really gets challenged
because it doesn't come up. Howard's going to have to run and he's going to have to throw
outs and things over the middle and on hooks. In 30 seconds, what does Oregon need to do to win?
Well, Oregon, we're going to need Gabriel to have a big game. He's going to have to have a game
where he really creates problems by extending plays with the threat to run because then
and they need to be effective on third down. They've got to stay on the field if they can do that.
And he's able to challenge the undercoverage for good games, right?
Yeah, really. These are very interesting games. And I've seconds.
