Sully's College Football Show · Sat Nov 23, 2024

All righty, welcome back to Sully's college football page. I'm Joninho sitting in for Chad Holmes. Here on bullfalls radio 98.9 FM and 12.30 AM moving into our 10 game challenge and for our 10 game challenge, we bring in the legend of audiology from Western Wisconsin.

Our guest today is Dr. Tim Kuhn, owner and chief audiologist of the Kuhn Hearing Center located at 16.99 Skofield Avenue, sweet 106 Skofield. Dr. Kuhn has been serving the center Wisconsin community audiology needs for the past 26 years. Welcome to the show old friend Tim. I'll try not to I mean, Dr. Dr. Kuhn, I'm sorry, but we got to keep you grounded. All right, you know, the buddies of the past have to keep you grounded. Tell us a little bit about this.

Dr. Kuhn Hearing Center. Well, first of all, thanks for having me in today. When I came in, I thought maybe I'd be in some like corner in a basement, but this place is actually pretty nice. You guys are doing good. We designed it. I was a little nervous coming in. It looks like your voice is already cracking. Oh, man, it is a season. All righty. So we've been in practice. I've been in private practice now for about 13, 14 years.

And, you know, we just love serving the community, helping them here better. We just love loving on the people that come in. You know, we just kind of make a family of it. So it's been a great experience. Awesome. Yeah, you know, and Tim, before we begin, I want to give a big shout out to you and all our sponsors. As a result of your willingness to partner with Southeast college football page, we were able to reach our 2024 goal of donating $1,000 to volunteer.

There are private and charitable institutions in our area, Tim and beyond. These donations were given to the following, Hagerhouse, Wounded Warrior, Women's Community, Newman Catholic Schools, the Good News Project, Maine All Volunteer Fire Department, the Humane Society, not MS out of the park, a local charity, Central Wisconsin School of Ballet, the St. Vincent, the Paul Society, the National MS Society,

the Children's Miracle Network, and St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. So Tim, on behalf of these services, schools, charities, both falls radio and Southeast college football page, a straight from the heart. Thank you to the Coon Hearing Center and all our sponsors who make these donations possible. So thank you, Tim.

You're welcome. Absolutely. Awesome. Alrighty. Dr. Coon, we're going to jump right into this 10 game challenge. It's, it's a little interesting, but you're going to go here first. And I know you're like 101 and oh, in all time predictions. So Tim, we got the first game. We got coming up here is Alabama at Oklahoma. Bama last played in Norman 2002, lost to the then number two team, 37 to 27.

Well, Dr. Joe, I'm going to go with Bama on this one. Bama's got more to play for. I think they're also the better team. I think you're going to see Bama by touch down or more.

Yeah, you know, Tim, that's a good pick. And I'm going to go with you. You know, we talked about earlier, Oklahoma is trying to get bowl eligible.

And they need to win one of these last two games. They got they got Bama today. And so we they got LSU. And so we're kind of pulling for Bama and LSU because that will mean the badgers get this done today. The badgers will take over second place with 23 consecutive years of being in balls. So I'm with you, though, I think Alabama gets them.

Awesome. That game tonight is on ABC or ESPN plus at 630. Sully, next game up is Indiana, 10 and all up against OSU, 9 and 1.

Yeah, you know, the book I said one is game 29 straight times. Actually, it's 30. If you if you count the vacated when Ohio State, the box had the tattoo scandal.

So historically, it's not a contest. Last time I you won a game was an 88. I'm going to go historically here. I think that OSU, too much talent, you know, with running back, white out, the one problem, the whole line, I think they've got enough talent to plug in and play. So I'm going with OSU.

I'm going to go with OSU to even though they're banged up the games at home. It's going to be tough environment to play in for Indiana and Indiana is good, but they're not that good.

Awesome. You know what? I'm telling you, I agree with Dr. Kuhn over. I mean, yeah, just Dr. Kuhn. I stick with Dr. Kuhn. The next game coming up here, Tim, BYU at Arizona. BYU's had some challenges this year, too. So what do you got going there, Tim?

I'm going to stick with BYU. I think Arizona's Arizona State is on the up swing, but I like BYU's quarterback. And I just think overall they're just a little bit better team and ASU is just not ready for that next step yet.

Yeah, you know, these teams have have 16 teams now in their league and they were respectively picked 13th and 14th. So Kudos to both teams. They've had great years. Tim, I'm going to respectfully diverge here. I'm going to go with ASU. I think athletically they're going to be able to come overcome BYU's average age of 37 with a mission and things. So I like ASU to get this stuff.

Awesome. There you have it. All righty. Moving on. Pittsburgh, seven and two at Louisville. Sully, you certain this one off.

Oh, I think Louisville is just a better team. I love petting our doozy. The guy is always great for a sound bite. He's always got something to say about somebody and usually it's negative. So, you know, I am going here with Louisville to get this done against the Panthers.

Well, Sully, I'm going to go with Pittsburgh. I don't think Louisville is very good. And even though it's at home, I think Pittsburgh is the better team. And I think we see them pull this one out.

Awesome. There you have it. Here we go. The game. I don't know who Sully is going to pick on this one, but Army versus Notre Dame. Army's 10 and 0. Notre Dame's 9 and 1. Tim, you go first here.

Well, I'm surprised Army's 10 and all the way. Our current administration has depleted our defense.

But I'm going to go with Notre Dame on this one. Again, I think Notre Dame's just the better team. You know, they're on a roll. And I think we see them in the college football playoffs.

Tim, that might be the smartest thing I've heard you say since I first met you when you were in third grade. Look at it.

And the last time Army won this game was 1958 and not shackingly Pete Dawkins, a running bag from Army won the Heisman that year.

The Irish are going to run the ball on first down, not throw it like they've been doing because they do not want to get behind the sticks. Army's got a good D.

Notre Dame no runs the ball too much. Too much athleticism too much skilled Notre Dame wins this game.

Awesome. Alrighty. Dr. Kuhn, give us a little more insight of the Kuhn Hearing Center if you would please.

Well, Joe, again, our primary purpose is to serve people's hearing needs in Central Wisconsin.

You know, we do hearing tasks, hearing aids, ear cleanings, you know, referral for medical issues.

But again, you know, our primary purpose is just to love on these people. You know, everybody has a story, has a journey through life.

And we want to give them more than healthcare. We want to make them feel at home and welcome in the office anytime just to be loved, just to talk to and just to be listened to.

That's awesome. That sounds like a good blueprint for success. That's kind of what we do here too as well, right?

And I've been in Tim's office and you get that sense when people come in, they're glad to be there.

You get the sense that their their needs are going to be met.

Absolutely. Everybody knows you now, Sally.

And we even imitate your voice.

Well, you know, do you hear them?

Yeah.

Former host, Paul LeBrieu, to say that I had a face for the radio and a voice for the newspaper.

Needless to say, I dismissed him.

All right. Moving on to the final five games of our 10 game challenge, Ole Miss at Florida.

Sally, you're going first in this.

Yeah. You know, Florida's playing a lot better. I'm a big billionaire guy. I've followed him the years he was at Louisiana, really good coach.

You know, the Florida fan base, they want to win every game 71 to 70.

If you win 17 to 14, they want you out. They need points.

Here's the deal. Jackson Tart, the Ole Miss quarterback.

I think is one of the best, if not the best quarterback in the country.

Ole Miss gets them in the swamp. The rebels keep their hopes alive through a birth in the SEC championship.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with you, Sally.

I think in Florida is on the rise. They're winning some games with that freshman quarterback now.

But Ole Miss is just too good. They're going to take this one.

Awesome. That game today is on here in about 50 minutes on ESPN plus or ABC.

Moving on to the next game, we've kind of talked about this one.

Before USC versus UCLA, Dr. Kuhn, you're first.

Well, two of the newer members here are the big 10.

I think USC is the better of the team. I think they're both the average at this point, but I think USC takes this one.

Yeah, USC's in the Rose Bowl, and it seems like whenever they play the big 10 there, they'd win.

So I'm going to, I'm with you, Tim. I'm going to go with UCLA.

They made a change at quarterback. It seemed to have helped them.

And although UCLA, if late, has been playing better, they took one out in the chin a week ago.

I think SC finds a way.

Awesome. Move it on. We've got the Homer game here, Wisconsin.

Nebraska, five and five, five and five that came as on it to 30 today.

This is a fun game. This is one of the best games of the day in my opinion.

Right.

Because you've got the badgers desperately trying to keep their bowl streak alive.

And you've got a blue blood program in Nebraska that has not been to a bowl since 2016.

They got Wisconsin this week. Iowa next week.

Same thing for the badgers got Minnesota or check got Minnesota next week.

And they've gotten Nebraska today both teams in need of a win.

I'm going to say the badgers find a way on the road.

Nebraska's snake, but I think the badgers get this done.

Well, this is a tough one in your best solid imitation voice.

Right in my best solid imitation voice.

Go ahead.

I'm going to go with the badgers, but I'm going to put a stipulation on that.

I think they need to get the score more points.

Well, they do.

I think they do score more points today with some different play calling,

but I think they need to get in.

Katie Akamelli, the white night into the ballgame a little more.

And you know, mix some things up.

But I'm going to go with Wisconsin, but that's a heart pick.

Awesome.

It is ESPN today at 230.

Moving on.

SMU versus Virginia. Virginia's not been a bad team.

Dr. Koon, you're going for something.

Well, I'm going to go with SMU on this one.

They just extended their coaches contract.

So there's got to be some positive stuff going on there.

I think the players will rally around that and they see SMU winning this one.

Yeah, you know, SMU, the only thing about them that I'm critical of

is they lost to BYU early in the year.

And yet the committee ranks SMU in front of BYU.

I'm always confused about head to head and denial.

That said, I saw Virginia last week in St. Irish.

SMU finds a way.

This is the best team they've had since they experienced the death penalty

back in the old days.

Absolutely.

Moving on, our final game of the 10 game challenges.

Texas A&M, Texas A&M.

Got it.

At Auburn.

Yeah, you know, this game is deceptively hard to pick

because A&M has not been very good on the road.

Mike Alco's done a great job and they are formidable at home.

But on the road, not so much.

They didn't show up when they went to Columbia, South Carolina.

That said, I still think you freeze in Auburn

are going to be taken out to the wood shed today

because A&M is going to set up next week's

crusade against Texas.

So I think they're going to protect that game

and they're going to bring it today and where they play

between the hedges down there.

Yeah.

Well, Sally, I hate to tell you, but I think you're wrong.

He doesn't hear that.

He doesn't hear that.

But I think Texas A&M is looking ahead

and I think they're going to come in here and be a little surprised

and I think Auburn between the home hedges wins this one.

You know what?

And I think I'm wrong to your point, Tim.

I think it's the planes where Auburn plays

and between the hedges is Ole Miss.

You could be right or you could be wrong.

Or I could be neither.

Alrighty, that wraps up our 10 game challenge.

Dr. Kuhn, give us some final thoughts on the hearing center.

How do they get in?

How do they get in?

Do they get referred?

Or if they're having hearing problems, they just contact you.

All of those things.

Yeah, so either or we work with a lot of the physicians

in the area.

So you can get in by being referred by your primary care physician

and simply call the office.

You can walk in.

However you want, we're pretty accommodating.

Awesome.

And how do you deal with a guy like Joe

who has selective hearing loss?

Is there a strategy you use?

That's an additional talent.

I can turn it on and off.

Any Maryband knows that.

I refer him to my colleague.

Very good.

Can you see that guy in and out of that back office?

Awesome.

Thanks for coming in, Dr. Kuhn.

A pleasure.

Nice to see you, buddy.

Oh, he's great.

Nice to see you too.

Awesome.

Welcome back to Sully's College Football Page. I'm Jonino, sitting in for Chad Homes, 98.9 FM 1230 AM, Bull Falls Radio.

Moving right along through this 13th week here, Sully.

Now we're moving into the FCS Conference Championships.

And Joe, there are 13 teams check 13 conferences in the football championship subdivision.

Now, one thing we didn't talk about when we were going through the FBS Championship Games,

which lead then to the college football playoff, it should be noted that that is not an NCAA tournament.

That is a college football playoff tournament and not related.

The NCAA does not sponsor that.

So it's unlike the final four. You know, we get to 68 teams in a way we go.

Right.

That's NCAA. This tournament, this FCS tournament, the football championship subdivision is the highest NCAA tournament

that played at the highest level because the FBS, they do not, the NCAA, have a tournament for that.

And a note to people out there, Sully and you and I have talked about this before.

The big difference between the FBS and the FCS is to look at it in traditional standards.

FBS is D1 teams. FCS is typically D1, double A teams, which they have now done away with.

Historically, that's exactly accurate. They've just changed the alphabet soup here.

Yes.

The other thing about it is the FBS, you know, the Badgers and Bama and Oklahoma and such,

they must give 85 full rights if they don't show their status as FCS members can become in jeopardy.

FBS members.

Yeah, FBS. I'm sorry if I said FCS. FBS.

The FCS can give up to, but not more than 63.

The other variable here is they don't have to give 63, unlike the FBS, which must give 85.

They can give fewer. Like for instance, the Ivy League and the Pioneer give none.

They give no scholarships.

And so in their conference, they're on the level playing field and they find ways to economics, you know, academic scholarships.

Yeah, the work study things. So they find ways to help their athletes, but do not offer any kind of athletic scholarship.

Awesome. Awesome. So we're moving right into this. We're going to review the conference championships coming up here.

We're going to start with the Big South and combine with the old Valley Conference or Ohio Valley Conference.

Yeah, you know, the Big South and the Ohio Valley started to lose teams.

So they now combine for football and they're simply referred to as the BSC hyphen OVC.

Anyway, Southeast Missouri can clinch that today if they can be Tennessee State.

Now, Tennessee State for our listeners, don't remember Eddie George, Ohio State's Hyzeman trophy winner 95.

And they're going to be kicked off the biggest game of the year for the box there.

Certainly, but anyway, Southeast Missouri State can win the Big South Ohio Valley Conference with a win over Tennessee State.

Awesome. And then we're moving on out west to the big sky conference. Right now Montana State has the big sky one.

Right. They've historically had some success. They've gotten some down years and now they have seen a reassurance at Montana State.

And most of their down years are related to their sister school Montana who beats them, but not this year.

Chris Cat Game is always a big game.

Oh, you know, in last week Montana State won the game of the year in the big sky.

They beat UC Davis. So we've talked about in our rankings.

They beat them like 42 to 35, really good ballgame.

And now Montana State is ready to roll for the tournament, which should be noted too, Joe.

No conference championship here. It's just straight up the winner.

Whoever won the conference and then off we go to the FCS tournament.

Gotcha. The next up on the conference championships here is coastal athletic conference or coastal athletic association.

Richman has already won this as well. Yeah, they wanted the spiders.

You have many of our listeners or remember them from the NCAA basketball. They've done some damage in that tournament.

Very good athletic school and they won arguably one of the three best conferences in the in the FCS.

It used to be and people may know them as colonial athletic association.

But a year ago they changed to the colonial. I was glad they kept the same acronym.

So you can say CA in your got it. Absolutely.

I'm assuming that this is kind of the same as the big sky. Whoever won the conference is going.

It is. All 10 teams and we'll explain the factor are 13, but only 10 except automatic beds.

Yeah. So Richman is in the FCS already. Here we go.

Moving into the Ivy League who we just talk. I you know, I learned something today.

I had no idea they didn't give athletic rights at Ivy League school.

Well, you know, I don't think anybody pays a penny to goes to an Ivy League school.

I had a good friend Mike McLaren back in Juliet. Mike went to Yale on a basketball ride.

I shouldn't say basketball right. He went to Yale to play basketball and he paid nothing.

He had scholarships and they got him, you know, the university helps in other ways.

But nonetheless, yeah, Harvard can win it today with the win over Yale.

I'm not sure where that game is at, but one of the funny things about Ivy League is Yale.

Some years though, average like 38,000 at home. And the next year, it's 12.

And so you're thinking, well, when I first started seeing that back in the, you know, 2009-10 when we started this,

then I realized the Yale ball seats 61,000. And when they play Harvard at home,

they have 61,000. So every other year, there are average shoots up because of this game.

Absolutely. There you have it for the Ivy League moving on to the mid-eastern athletic conference.

Yeah, you know, this is the historic black college and university conference.

The other one is the SWEAC on this level at the FCS level.

There are other conferences that would fall under that heading, but not at this level.

So the MEAC, very good conference, and they typically, they're down to six teams.

But Joe, they readily beat the SWAC until last year. They find the SWAC finally won.

What they call the celebration ball. But anyway, South Carolina State, good program.

They won the, they won the MEAC.

Awesome. Moving on to the Missouri Valley football conference north at a state can win the,

the MVFC with a win over South Dakota.

Yeah, and South Dakota has had a great year. They've got one loss only to South Dakota state.

So they, they are in position to force a three-way tie in the Missouri Valley because

North Dakota State did beat South Dakota State earlier in the year.

So a South Dakota win, which they are capable of doing with, with force a three-way tie in the Missouri Valley football conference.

The Missouri Valley quickly sued them because of the use of that name.

And so they went to court in one. So now the football Missouri Valley is so called the Missouri Valley football conference.

Gotcha. Awesome. They're moving on to the Northeast conference.

Another conference that gives limited scholarships, they, they don't give 63.

They give a certain number of them. But nonetheless, comes down to today Connecticut State versus Duquesne.

This is another pretty good basketball school that people are aware of. The winner of that will win the Northeast.

Awesome. Moving on to the Patriot conference.

Yeah. Now this is an interesting game, Joe, because Lehigh is playing Lafayette.

Wisconsin, Minnesota is the longest rivalry in college football at the FBS level.

This rivalry between Lehigh and Lafayette at any level has the most often played game.

So this game between these two teams, they've been playing a longer and more often than any two schools in college football.

And typically when you have that scenario, wins and losses doesn't matter for this game.

No, you know, the fact is this is that they are two of the better teams in the Patriot league.

Holy cross, Georgetown, you know, are in that league.

So there's a Bucknell Colgate, good teams in that league.

But these two typically are in the forefront for the championship.

Awesome. Moving on to the Pioneer football league, Drake.

Can win the PFL with a win over Stetson.

Yeah, you know, that's another great basketball school.

Drake out of Des Moines, John.

A guy that I met of one of my teammates played for him when he was at Iowa State.

Great guy, great coach.

But Drake, you know, is a very, very good football program at this level.

And, you know, thereafter and again, with kind of a newcomer in Stetson.

Yeah, absolutely.

Moving to the Southern Conference.

This has already been won by Mercer.

Yeah, and Mercer was getting laughed at and beat up last week because they played the tie.

They played Alabama.

Well, needless to say, they got beat.

I think it was 55 to 7.

But those dope sun ESPN were kind of making fun of them.

And I'm thinking, hey, this is a 9-in-1 team.

The SoCon is a precursor to the South Eastern Conference.

So show a little respect, boys.

Anyway, Mercer, a good program.

Awesome.

Moving down to the South-Lind.

South-Lind.

South-Lind Conference.

Yes.

Yeah.

And that's in Carnot Word wins this.

And they pretty much, you know, you think in Carnot Word, you know, you kind of think of a Dawson.

No.

This is the largest Catholic University in Texas.

And these guys play football.

And they get after it.

They don't make noise in the FCS.

They take in North Carolina.

Check, check, check.

North Dakota State to the wire, you know, at the Fargo dome.

So this team can flat out play and look for them to make some noise in the journey.

Awesome.

Moving down to the Southwest.

Southwest athletic conference.

Yes.

Two divisions here as well.

Yeah.

This is the swag.

So they're a little bit like the Sun Belt.

They're still in divisions.

And we talked about them this day, historically, Black College and University Conference.

Play real good football.

Yes.

They have these rivalry games in which schools make pretty good change on.

Yes.

And they have a deal with the, with ESPN, where they play the celebration ball.

So the Mac and the SWIC actually are involved in the bowl season, like their FBS counterparts.

And there's a lot more money for them here than there would be in the FCS tournament.

Absolutely.

And then to round out the FCS conferences is the United Athletic Conference.

Right.

And that's the WAC and the A-Sun combined.

And they, however, changed their name.

They call themselves the United Athletic Conference.

And another surprisingly Texas team, Edelene Christian, has a Ken win this with the win over

Turtleton State today.

So that kind of rounds up the 13 conferences, Joe.

Absolutely.

One question before we go to break here or something to ponder.

Are we ever going to see stabilization within conferences without all of this movement and everything?

Not until they, they changed the rules and lengthened the time that it takes to make that transition.

Right now it's for the full transition.

It's three years.

And then the criteria, you know, maybe should be a little more stringent.

The last thing I want to mention is the FCS tournament.

Joe, I think this is where the college football playoff has headed.

Right now, 24 teams go into the FCS tournament.

Eight teams get a buy and get seated.

Not conference, you know, you could be straight out general seating.

Yes.

So you could take three teams from the Missouri Valley.

Exactly.

And it should be heading that way, the FBS.

Well, you know, maybe they're testing it out on the little brother.

They, well, this has been going for a while.

I think they're headed that way.

But anyway, what they do, Joe, is the remaining 16 teams play the first round then.

And then the eight winners emerge and they get matched up against the eight teams that were, in fact, the buy.

Now, what they do that alleviates a lot of the arguments we're seeing now is the conference champ, the 10 conference champs,

they all get bids.

So if you win your conference, you get in.

The meek and the swag, they, they opt out because they can make more money in the celebration bowl.

Plus they have games like Southern plays, grambling.

Right.

Big, big attendance, 50, 45,000 at these games.

And the Ivy League, shame on them, they still think they're an academic institution.

And so since they are, in fact, it's experiencing exams.

Right.

During the actual setting of this playoff, they've elected to put academics in front of the football.

And that's why they do not partake.

So Harvard beat jail, they win the Ivy League.

They're done.

Got you.

All right.

That wraps up that segment here.

1.30 in the afternoon December the night time.

That's the matinee.

Night time is December 7th at 7 and December 8th Sunday at 1 in the afternoon.

It's awesome.

This is their 55th year true holiday classic.

Yeah, and I'll tell you Pat does an excellent job.

He's the master teacher of the ballet school and does terrific work.

I've been in there.

His wife Stephanie was a...

She's a PhD teacher at point and Stephanie wrote the template for our curriculum at Newman.

So both really talented people.

And I know they do a great job with this production.

Nice.

All right.

Here's where we get into Sully's college football page.

Top 25 break down.

This first segment we're going to do 12 or 13 of them.

Yes, we are.

We're going to go down to 11.

Yep.

We're starting at the bottom.

25th is Illinois.

Yeah.

And yes, he was saved a railing about this.

They said that the committee put Illinois at 25 because they want to up Penn State's resume.

Yeah, you know, so they...

I mean, they just don't want to come north and play in a cold weather environment here.

So anyway, Illinois on their own merits, I might add, is 25th in the country.

So I'm in then moving on from there.

Up to 24 is UNLV.

Yeah.

UNLV beats San Diego State.

This program has been resurrected under Barriode.

Gotcha.

And that game today is on FS1 at 9 p.m. tonight.

Yeah, it's late game.

Oh, nice.

Awesome.

Yeah, and I said they beat San Diego State.

They're playing San Jose State in my bed.

Gotcha.

Moving on to 23 Missouri.

Yeah, Missouri.

You know, they lost a battle at Carolina.

And now they got Mississippi State.

Missouri should have no problem with Mississippi State.

Really struggling this year.

Gotcha.

Alrighty.

Yeah, they kind of righted the ship.

They beat Cincinnati.

I got a game with Utah team that was picked to win the big 12.

But it has struggled mightily since its transformation from the pack 12 to the big 12.

Awesome.

And then we're moving up to 22 Iowa State.

They were kind of a surprise this year.

Iowa State was.

Yeah.

You know, they, they, you know, beat Cincinnati, as I said in Utah.

And Arizona State.

Big game today.

So they've got BYU.

And this is going to go a long way to settling who is in the big 12 championship.

Awesome.

Alrighty.

Moving up to 21.

Moving to 20.

Tulane beat Navy 35 to nothing.

Up next.

They have a buy.

Yeah.

You know, I was really pulling for Navy in this game because I wanted to see Army versus Navy.

Pearl Harbor Day for the American Championship.

It was kind of, this is too cool if we can get this to happen.

But Tulane is really good.

Their two losses are the Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

Close and then.

Or no, check, check, check, not Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma.

And they, um, they're a very good team.

And you know, they're, they're headed to like American championship show now with Army.

Yes.

Absolutely.

And speaking of Army showing up there at number 19.

They're nine and all going up against Notre Dame.

Boy, they're up against it this time.

Yeah.

You know, I'll tell you.

They're quarterback.

If you haven't seen, uh, Bryson Daily, he is the real deal.

Joe, he's about 225 pounds six three.

He is a linebacker playing quarterback with really good speed.

Not great quickness, but blessed with foot over foot speed.

That's what I'm going to say.

He can get some airs feet.

Yeah.

Yeah.

He's hard to run down.

So Notre Dame is going to have their hands for their linebackers keeping him in front of them and then knocking him down because he's a load.

Right.

Moving the 18 there.

This is the game we talked about before we went on the air.

You know, South Carolina against Wilford.

They're 42 point dogs.

Yeah.

You know, uh, the ESPN where I look.

Oh, absolutely.

I'm mistaken here.

They, there is no line.

That's all out of whack.

It is.

They, they typically don't want an FPS plays FCS.

There's typically no line because it's in balance.

You know, 85 scholarship versus maybe 63.

But Wilford is the team out of the sole count.

The Southern Conference.

Historically a great conference.

And, uh, today though, uh, no, they're up.

They're up against it.

Alrighty.

Moving to 17 Clemson.

They got the Citadel up.

Yeah.

You know, they're playing the Citadel.

A team out of the big South.

You know, check.

They're out of the sole count too.

And, uh, historically a very good team out of South Carolina.

Uh, you know, winding up against Clemson.

That would be a big good luck with that.

That's great.

One of the games I'm looking forward today is Colorado at Kansas.

I kinda like what Deeren's got going there.

But it's it's almost.

It's in your Facebook, Paul.

It's like we're rallying around our team and the rest of the world are enemies.

And there is no mercy.

Yeah.

And, you know, Deeren has star power on that team, and it's not just Travis

the Suner and Shadar.

There are other players now in the mix.

And they've gotten better on both line of scrimmages so they can actually play now in the meathouse.

The problem for them today is Kansas landslide, Paul.

Many people in Wisconsin know him.

Was that white water?

They are a team that does things right.

They will play their position first.

They don't have a lot of playmakers.

They got three low four stars.

And they will come out and play their scheme.

So not going to be any major breakdowns for them against all this talent that Colorado is going to break.

I'll tell you what, I was impressed in the Kansas, Kansas state game.

Kansas state had one like 30 matchups.

And it looked like they were going to win.

Kansas state was going to pull this off, break the curse.

And Kansas was just resilient.

Like you said, they were disciplined.

They did their jobs.

They moved down the field and they ended up winning the game.

Yeah.

And they struggled early on, Kansas, because a lot of people thought they could win the big 12.

They didn't play like that early, but they are today.

So Colorado better be patient because they're not going to be handed anything today.

Absolutely not.

Moving to 15, Texas A&M.

Up next is Auburn.

Yeah.

Now these rankings are the committees.

These are not solid college football pitch.

Because I guarantee you we would have A&M higher than this.

Right.

You know, they lost a game, the Notre Dame.

And they have not been a great road team.

You know, they went to South Carolina.

And not only did their defense not travel, neither did their offense.

And they got blasted.

I think they've learned their lesson.

They're going to bring it today with Auburn.

This is going to be a very interesting game.

Absolutely.

Moving down.

We've got 14 BYU.

Up next.

Arizona State.

We covered this one a little bit.

Yeah.

We have, you know, here is a team that does right things.

You know, athletic, you know, going to come out and make plays versus the,

we do things right.

BYU is more structured.

Right.

Another one we pointed out here is SMU, 9-1, playing average in your next.

Yeah.

And that was my point.

BYU, SMU.

So why aren't they reversed this, Mike?

Exactly.

In a game we also commented on.

I like Boise State.

I'm telling you.

They got Wyoming coming up.

That's one of those rivalry games, too, where Wyoming, you know, they've been good at,

but Boise State's got it together again this year.

Yeah.

You know, Boise State was beaten, Oregon, the number one team in the country and the power

for rankings or number one team period.

Right.

And they, they just take care of business.

They go out.

There's no nonsense.

They were getting beat early on by San Jose.

No panic.

They just keep coming and eventually double them up, beat them 42-21.

I've been to a Boise State game.

Oh, really?

And they have a unique thing where when the home team kicks off, they have a dog that comes

from the sideline and retrieves the tee.

Really?

And comes back to the sidelines.

It's actually pretty cool.

You know, I got a story about that, too, Joe.

Eastern Washington, people probably won't know this, but their field is red.

They kind of took an off shoot of Boise going with the blue turf.

They went red, except I don't know what you call those guys who studied grass, but he told

them that the die they put on there, when it got moist, that field was going to turn pink.

I don't know what they've done to adjust it, but the last time I knew it was still red.

That's hilarious.

And the final game here in this segment, Tennessee, up next is UTEP.

Yeah, you know, Tennessee, a major, major game against Georgia, struggled with Georgia product,

good focus.

They will have virtually no issues with UTEP.

And I think that's the game you were talking about, how much they're favored by.

Yeah, that was either 41 or 42.

There's a couple of them.

Yeah, it was 40 and 41.

Yeah, awesome.

I'm Joan, you know, sitting in for chat homes here on Sully's College Football page,

Welcome back to Sully's College football page.

I'm Jonino sitting in for Chad Holmes.

Across from me is the doctor, Dr. Sullivan,

little technical do you feel you in the store in the studio?

Yeah, when I get up from the chair, I gather remember to take my headset off.

Look like a dog running at the end of the leash.

Yeah.

Alrighty, Sully, we're moving into the final segment here, which is the top 10 power rankings of this season as put out by the committee.

Right.

You know, we're at number 10 now.

This is, and you're right, this is the college football playoff committee's top 25.

And for 10, we're at Georgia, eight and two.

They beat Tennessee, as we mentioned, 3117 in a huge game for Georgia.

They absolutely needed this, or they would have been eliminated from the college football playoff for three months.

And they handled Tennessee pretty well, you know.

They took care of business.

You know, Georgia has had two major games this year that they really needed their defense to show up for.

And man, they did big time.

First one against Texas, who they held the 15 and now Tennessee, they hold the 17 and in both instances scoring 30 or more to win those games.

Absolutely.

And in this game up against Massachusetts, their favorite by 42 and a half.

All right.

UMass is going next year.

UMass will leave the independent ranks, Joe.

They're going into the mid-American conference.

Well, Hail Mary.

Yes.

Alrighty.

Number nine.

We have Old Miss.

Up next is at Florida.

Yeah.

And that's my favorite quarterback, Jackson Dart.

I think you just like his name.

Yeah.

I think we're really finding out what your picks are truly about.

Yeah.

Colors, names.

Yeah.

He throws darts this game.

You know, he would be in the Heisman conversation.

He had two Heisman moments.

Unfortunately for him, he missed them.

One was in the Kentucky game.

And then that LSU game, they lost 29, 26 and OT.

I know Kiffin, Lane Kiffin, their coaches kicking himself because they should have won both of those games.

And Jackson Dart had the ball.

You know, at the end of both those games where he could have made some plays and won both of them.

Well, nonetheless.

And the big thing is there is that when those games come up, what really sets a Heisman candidate.

A Heisman candidate, a part.

Number one, typically you're going to have a winning team.

Right.

Right.

Two, you have to rise to those challenges and that succumb to them.

Yes.

And to your point, that's very true, Joe.

The last guy to win the Heisman trophy on a losing team was none other than Hall of Fame.

All time, great Paul Horning was at Notre Dame.

And that year his competition was Jimmy Brown.

And, you know, I think for voters, some of the distinction there was Horning was the place kicker.

And so he could score points in other ways.

Although some would say that it should have been Brown.

Brown was the better.

Right.

Well, we all know he in the end was the better runner.

Absolutely.

Moving down to number eight as selected by the College Football Committee.

Miami, up next is Wake Forest.

Yeah.

You know, Miami has won too many games by the skin of their teeth.

You know, they're getting beat.

And then they find the way.

You could all end.

California had them down 25 in either the late third quarter or early fourth quarter.

And, you know, I can't word rally them back to winning that game.

It caught up to them a week ago.

But Miami is in position to get to the ACC championship game and get an automatic birthday to play off.

Here's a question off the subject here.

What happened to California after that game?

You know, they, they, when you look at their, you know, their season, they have lost so many games by single scores.

You know, seven, three, one, two, their coach is Justin Wilcox, who has Wisconsin ties.

I think he was a deep coordinator here.

So, California struggled.

And then I think of late.

Now, Joe, I haven't followed them closely.

Right.

Same here.

But, you know, I think they have now been slipping a little bit.

And some of their losses have been by a lot wider margins.

Awesome.

And they have been going up to seven Alabama at Oklahoma.

This is going to be a fun game too.

This is a rivalry game always has been.

We hope an Oklahoma loses here.

Yeah.

Well, you know, Oklahoma is trying to maintain a 25 year pull appearance, which is right in front of the badgers.

So if if Bama gets this done, then it's going to come down for OU to next week against LSU, which is no small task.

That said, oh, you know, OU is a blue blood.

Yeah.

And they're going to they are, you know, since Vendables has gone there from Clemson.

They do play better defense.

In fact, right now this program is kind of shifted gears and arguably are better defensively than on offense.

Absolutely.

They've got a shot today against Alabama's be a fun game to watch tonight.

Absolutely up at number six is your favorite Notre Dame at Army.

We know that this is a really appealing game to look at by the numbers, but don't know much that Army's got.

Army's going to have to play a heck of a defense to save this game.

So here's my thought on this game.

Dunbrock, the OC has been throwing the ball quite a bit on first down.

I'm saying watch this game on first down and I guarantee you Notre Dame is going to be running the ball.

Awesome.

Moving up to the top five, Indiana's at five at Ohio State.

That game is on 11 on Fox OSU's favorite by 10 and a half.

Moving up to four is Penn State.

They got Minnesota up next.

We kind of commented on this.
