And welcome back. It's all these college football page on 98.9 WXO online of both falls
radio.com mobile devices and Alexa by searching WXO and on the civic media app. It's our number
two at the show. We take you right up to kick off every Saturday and it's time as we start
off our number two. We always have the 10 game challenge. It's all these 10 game challenge
where Sully is challenged by one of his outstanding sponsors of Sully's college football page.
And our guest today making the short trek here downtown from the mid cafe Joe Papowski
and Joe. First of all, thanks for coming on over and challenging Sully. Absolutely. You're
welcome. I have it no other way. For our owner of the mint small business on for entrepreneur
chef extraordinaire. And I this was my favorite part of it when Sully was saying you were coming
in starting right tackle for the 1979 Newman fighting Cardinals. That is absolutely correct.
And I'm just going to remind everyone I weighed 170 pounds at the time. So that was the
biggest guy in the line. I was going to say back then that would be the one of the bigger
guys on the football field. Joe was longer than he was wide. But again, welcome. And I tell
you again, it's wonderful to have you here. Thank you. Hey, and Joe, before we begin, I just
want to give a shout out to our our sponsors as a result of yours and others willingness to
partner with Sully's college football page. We were able to share Joe to reach our 2024
goal of donating $1,000 to volunteer private and charitable institutions in our area and
beyond. These donations were given to the Hager House, wounded warriors, women's community,
Newman Catholic schools, good news project, main all volunteer fire department of the
humane society, knock MS out of the park, Central Wisconsin School of Ballet, St. Vincent
de Paul's Society, the National MS Society Children's Miracle Network and St. Jude's Children's
Hospital. So on behalf of these services, schools, charities, bull falls radio and Sully's
college football page, Joe, we'd like to give you a shout out. Thank you to yourself and
to other sponsors as well. So thanks, Joseph. You're welcome. Well, Joe, before we start off
with the 10 game challenge, could you maybe share something? I'm sure a lot of folks already
know a lot about the mint, but anything you'd like to share before we absolutely, absolutely.
It's kind of a long story, but I'm going to make this a little quick here. My wife and I purchased
the mint cafe back in 1990 and have run it up until January this year when my wife who had
passed away some years ago, four or five years ago, we had a plan in place to have our chef Joe
Schultz take over the mint. So as of January 1st, he has taken over the reins and he had been with us
many, many years. So he kind of hit the ground running and he is now in charge of the mint.
And great staff. We've got a lot of people that have been here many years.
Love the downtown, love wasa. And we've been serving top notch food since 1888.
Fantastic. Very, very cool indeed. Well, let's jump right in. And the thing that I noticed right
away here in our 10 game challenges, Sully's decided to go right to the deep end of the pool
with the first game. It is the game that I think a lot of folks have been looking forward to early
this year, a southeastern conference, two of the top teams in the country, two of the top programs
in the country, Georgia and Alabama. Alabama is the host and as our guest, we're going to allow Joe
to make the first pick. Well, I took some time analyzing this game and I think I think Alabama is
a little bit overrated. I think Georgia's got it all going all cylinders. So I'm going to take
Georgia on this one. Okay, Joseph, we're going to, I'm going to respectfully park company here
on the first one. I like Alabama in this game evidenced by the fact that they have won eight of
the last nine. And let me say that again, eight of nine, they have beaten Georgia, which I think
surprises a lot of people certainly did me. And you know, so going into the game, the favorite
is just three and six. So Georgia, favorite. I'm going to go with the percentages here.
Joe, I like Alabama. I'll just add one thing. The guy that was the coach of Alabama for those
nine games that won eight. He's off on some TV set right now. Who was that?
You know, up next another SEC game, Ole Miss taking on Kentucky. Kentucky gave Georgia all they
could handle a couple of weeks back. Ole Miss still undefeated. This time we'll start with Sully.
You know, I like Jackson Dart. You know, he's the quarterback at Ole Miss. I think you said his
name every week. I think you're just like saying Jackson Dart. I think I do because he throws darts,
but this kid I think is the best quarterback in in college football. And the game is that Ole Miss.
And even though Kentucky, I mean, 13 to 12 with Georgia, I like Ole Miss to get this one done, Joe.
And Joe, what do you think? You know what? I'm going to have to go with you on this Sully.
Ole Miss, once again, has got everything going. Love the quarterback and they should win this going
away. Up next, Arkansas and Texas A&M. It seems like every year that these teams play in Dallas,
Ireland, and Jerry World. It always seems like there's a game that goes down to the wire,
goes to overtime and both teams off to three and one starts this season. We'll start with Joe this
time. Arkansas and Texas A&M. You know, maybe I'm just partial in this, but I can't see Jerry
running up and down the field here watching his alma mater. I just may just have a little
skin in the game here. So I'm going to like Texas A&M in this one.
All right. And I'm going to say this, Joe, that's a good pick. And I think that since they won
11 to the last 12, it's a real good pick. I'm going to bring in a side here and that Sam Pitman,
the coach at Arkansas, is in a desperate, desperate situation to get this win. So I'm going to go
with Arkansas in the upset. Ohio State and Michigan State, yeah, but Ohio State is not,
first I would call it the test of the season. They have not had the toughest schedule after this
point, but still very talented Michigan State off to a solid start under their new head coach,
Jonathan Smith. Solly, what do you think? Well, it's the first time that Ohio State has played
anybody this year in terms of power for status. They haven't done it. It's exactly what Michigan did
a couple of years ago. The fact two years in a row and then they ended up winning it last year.
I think Ohio State just overwhelms Michigan State with their presence. So Joe, I'm going to take
the buck eyes in this one. I think the Spartans are going to make it nine in a row against the buck
eyes. I don't see anything happening today that's going to change that. So we're going to take Ohio
up next our fifth game of the 10 game challenge. A couple of big 10 unbeaten Illinois coming off
their huge road win at Nebraska last week. Travels to happy valley takes on Penn State and Joe,
you go first. Yeah, this is a tough one. I kind of took a look at this for a while today too, but
I think Penn State has got the better team, better offense, better defense. So I'm going to take
Penn State in this one. Yeah, I'm with you, Joe. Illinois's having a great season. Last time they
were here was 21 longest game in college football history, but nonetheless, I'm with you Penn State.
Quarterback is playing better this year. The running backs are good and they have one of the best
defenses in the country. Again, our guest today for the Sully College football page 10 game
challenges. Joe Papalski, former owner of the Mitt Cafe, a small business entrepreneur,
chef extraordinaire, and again, that starting right tackle for the 79 Newman Fighting Cardinals.
What was the record in 79 for Newman? You know, I was just going to bring that up. We were
notorious for winning all or non-conference games and then winning one conference games and then
getting shut out in the rest of them. So the central Wisconsin Catholic conference, right?
I think it was four and five or four and six for four years with me. So right around,
right around that area, but we were always competitive, always competitive in those games.
And I'll tell you, we had some really tough kids and you look back at the old CWCC.
Reaches was sending guys to Notre Dame. Aquinas had one of the best programs in the state.
Pechelli and Columbus were always, always, you know, went that seven, eight season wins. So
the competition that Joe was talking about was awful good.
And some great coaches to Columbus. You know, you've all raised your promise.
Guys had been there forever and definitely a top-notch conference.
Enjoy anything you want to add about the mint? Yeah, I want to just toss a couple of things out
there. The Mitt Cafe is, you know, kind of famous for food and service and things down
town, but we do run one of the larger catering operations in Wassa. We've been doing catering
for the last 25, 30 years and specialize in small to large weddings. Got a couple of weddings
we're working on today. We'll do probably about 50 to 60 weddings this year. So anybody
interested in some great fine catering? Call the mint. Absolutely. Absolutely. Very good.
I got to say, we have a group that meets their every Saturday for breakfast before the show.
And I have to pay Joe money to let this crowd in, you know, and he puts us in the back.
And I got to tell you that the service at that place is terrific. Yeah.
We've got outstanding chefs. You know, we got Jose. Jose. He knows how to burn bacon.
Yeah. I mean, he does great jobs. Burns bacon better than anybody.
Sully loves the burger. It was generated anyway.
Well, let's continue here is our 10 game challenge. Joe and Sully, the sixth game, one of those odd
new conference matchups. Atlanta coach's conference. Stanford travels across the country to take on
Clemson and Saul. What do you think? Well, Clemson is playing much better. They kind of got humiliated.
You know, in the opener, Joe against Georgia, 34 to three, I think it was. And you know, I like
dabble. And I like his position on the transfer portal. You know, he's going to bring his guys in.
And he has not taken one starter from the transfer portal. None. He just goes with his guys.
So I appreciate that. And I do like them. Joe, today you can stand for.
You know, I'm going to have to agree with that after that after the beat down they got in the first
game. I think he's got to figure it out. I know some of the talking heads were looking for
his job on ESPN and so forth. But he's a great coach. And I knew that he would come back and
make a little comeback. So I'm with with you on that one Clemson.
Up next, it's Louisville and Notre Dame. The fighting Irish playing host of the Cardinals.
Louisville undefeated. Notre Dame has that one big blemish on their record up to this point.
And Joe, what do you think? You know what? I'm Sully's not going to like this one because he is a
Notre Dame from the get go here. Really? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He sees the guy. So I like Louisville
on this one. They're undefeated. Notre Dame did not look good in that loss. So I'm going to go
with Louisville this week. You know, Joe, this is going to surprise you. I do pick with my head,
not my home. I am with with you on this. I was clear on it until the second half of last week
when a Riley Leonard actually started throwing the ball with some confidence. And yet Jeff
Prom will be the best coach on the field. You know, Chad and I have talked about Jeffrey over the
years. So sadly Louisville gets this Sunday against the Irish next game will be a Florida state
who finally was able to find a win last week as the edge cowl about this time they traveled a
Southern Methodist who's off to a good start at three and one Sully. Boy, this one is really a
quantum, a quantum, a quantum or anyway, this one's difficult. A quandary. Thank you.
You know, Florida state has been shockingly struggling this year, you know, at 0 and 3, now 1
and 3. And SMU has been playing at a pretty high level. But I'm going to say that Florida state
continues their road back and goes in and gets the Don against SMU too much down. And Joe,
what about you? You know what? I'm going to have to disagree on this one. I think SMU,
I'm thinking about the big days years ago with Eric Dickerson and in the gang, I think.
Tony Express. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've, I've, I've, I've got a little spot in my heart for SMU. So
I'm taking them this week. And they have survived the death penalty. Let's not talk about that.
Coming up next, North Carolina, they were embarrassed last week against James Madison gave up
70 points. Mac Brown actually offered to resign. It was so embarrassing after that one. But
there's still three and one. They take the very short trek down tobacco road to take on undefeated
Duke, North Carolina and Duke. Joe, what do you think? You know what? That was not pretty last week.
Let's just go with that. Mac Brown, excellent, excellent coach. No, he just, you know,
he wanted to resign last week. But I think, uh, I think he's got him in a good week,
had him in a good week of practice this week. And I think we're, we're going to turn that thing
around and we're going to go with North Carolina. I'm with you, Joe. I think North Carolina
has had probably the most embarrassing week in the history of their program, their plan Duke,
who would they be more wanting to put one on than those guys? So I think North Carolina,
bounces back. Chad and they get to. And finally, a big one in the big 12. We got Oklahoma State,
taking on Kansas State and Sully. These two teams are, are almost mere images of each other. You
know, they, they hang around. They play really good defense. They keep everything in front of them
inside of them and smack it. You know, I'm going to go though, uh, with Mike Gundy on the road
because I think Gundy just finds ways to win games at the end. So Joe, I'm going to go with
OU, the visiting team right now. That's there's the Oklahoma State, not OU, over Kansas State.
You know, I think I'm going to have to go with you on this time to Gundy. Once again, great coach,
he'll figure out a way to get it on the road against Kansas State.
That is at 10 games, 10 big games coming up in our challenge. And Joe Papowski, uh, any final
words, uh, number one, do you think you, do you think you got Sully here? Do you think you? Yeah,
yeah. I think so. I think, uh, which are you mean the first guy to do that in several decades?
I did, I did mention a couple of guys at Sully's table this morning. If they bet my picks,
gonna make a lot of money. If you win, then they changed the name of the site. The Joe's college
football page. And they prefaced that only if you disagree with Sully, will we bet the way you
any final thoughts before we wrap things up? Oh, just that, uh, we're so happy to be
uh, downtown Wasa here. A lot of great things happening. Looking out the window apartments,
a lot of a lot of great things coming to downtown Wasa. And, uh, I'm glad Joe and the great staff
have over at the men cafe are going to really benefit from a lot of activity down here. And we
appreciate you having us on today. Well, hey, you know, Joe, and you haven't mentioned this,
but it's nonetheless true. You were voted as the best breakfast restaurant. Were you not?
Absolutely. And in all of the Wasa area. Yep. And I'll tell you, I have seen nothing,
but stuff that confirms that. Yeah. Fantastic. Well, Joe, thanks again for coming on over on this
beautiful Saturday morning. Absolutely. Have it in another way. Absolutely. So, uh,
that's Sully's college football page 10 game challenge. And next, and we're gonna start the
ranking. Sully gets in front of that computer every week and starts going through all the numbers
and all the stats and then decides who are the top teams in the, uh, the FCS, who are the top
teams in the group of five. And of course, who are the top teams in the power force? We're going to
find out all those ranking starting next here on Sully's college football page on 98.9 WXCO.

And welcome back to these college football page on 98.9 WXL and take you right up to kick off
at 11 o'clock for another big college football Saturday. And of course one of the big aspects
at sulleyscolleysfootballpage.com and again if you don't know it's a website not just a radio show
but you can go to sulleyscolleysfootballpage.com each and every day of the week it's so much
great information and again you cover everybody don't you. You know Chad we are now tracking 264
teams 129 in the 263 I guess 129 in the FCS and now 134 Kenisaw State out of Georgia is being
the newest edition so you know we have 134 FPS the football ball subdivision which is division one
and then the FCS 129 teams which is also part of the part of division one.
Well let's talk about the FCS top five rankings and of course on the site how deep do you go
on the rankings for FCS well if you go to the site we we go 15 on the FCS we go 20 we break the FPS
up to power four and group of five and so we go 20 there and then we go 25 on the you know on
the power four so we rank 60 teams every week. All right let's talk about the top five in the FCS
and again if you want the entire ranking you can go to saw these college football page.com
but top five we have a North Dakota at number five Idaho number four Montana states
they three are they still four are they you have a tie oh yeah you know Montana State number three
I do stutter when I write so I put four twice and then North Dakota State number two and
South Dakota State number one does you look at that top five yes well you know the Dakota teams
are where they typically are you know they're they're playing at a pretty high level and yet they're
being challenged you know some of the other teams are stepping up this year and on North Dakota
State beat Southeast Louisiana or Southeast Missouri one of those teams in a very close game like 30
36 to 33 or something but you know we also rank Delaware and Delaware is in limbo you know
they are in transition they're playing at a high level they're not in the FPS and now the FCS
is kind of put them in limbo so they're three and oh so we keep track of them as well then you
have the group of five will go to the top ten and number ten army they are undefeated and that's
a really an impressive start for the military academy over at West Point and I can tell you
who's cheering for them is Notre Dame Navy right now is 4-0 they beat Memphis last week which will
be talking about here in a minute armies 4-0 so that helps the Irish in terms of the strength
of the schedule this army team if you get a chance to watch them watch their quarterback he's
about 6-4 2-30 this kid is a beast that can run fun to watch he knocked guys some tempo
over last night just word at him number nine Fresno State they're three and one on the season and
they got a big one coming up against UNLV huge game for UNLV you know they're trying to make
a statement of relevancy and one of the things you know we alluded to it earlier one of the things
that I read it was kind of humorous oil money the NCAA is okay with but not casino money
they are not okay with that and so anyway this UNLV UNLV team is making a statement and you know
from the days of Pat White Fresno State anybody anywhere anytime so they're they're coming to
Sin City so this should be interesting yeah Georgia State that number eight really a good team
that people don't know a lot about they they're two and one they've had a buy already
playing the sunbelt and really they've get a the roster is pretty much composed of Georgia
talent which I would say to you is the fifth best high school playing state in the country
number seven Texas states that's in San Marcos right yes it is very good you know the the
reality there is I don't got to tell anybody how good Texas is in football you know maybe Florida
thinks they're better and given the growth of Florida's population I'm not sure which of those
states I would rate first but this is another very good team also Chad in the sunbelt Tulane at
number six despite just a two and two record yeah you know their losses are two really good teams
and you know Tulane it was 24 to 19 against OU and then OU scored 10 points in the fourth quarter
to pull away and then their game with Kansas State was a great game I think most people who watched
that game will tell you Tulane should have won that game there were some breaks and some calls
that hurt him but this is a really good club number five Memphis and you taught so much about
Spence Lewinsky and his defense he ran into the Naval Academy last week in the lost 56-44 yeah
we typically don't mention Spence's name when the Poland's have 56 but nonetheless you know this
is such an oddity navy to defend them you know you don't see this stuff and then they do all
kinds of things that screw up your case I watched them I counterspin you know so the quarterback
opens one way and they run the I mean they're just a problem you have James Madison at number four
and dog on it how can they not be any higher after what they did last week well you know there's
there there is a good argument for that you know I've got James Madison in conjunction who
we're going to do next Liberty these are they're both Virginia schools and for the life of me I
cannot figure out why the Sunbelt did not take Liberty Liberty is in conference USA both these
teams are are setting themselves up for a new year six birth you know last year Liberty did get
there and so both these teams are absolutely in the runner Liberty number three they just keep
on winning they beat ECU last week and a rather interesting game they have coming up with the
and I'm sorry to report that game is canceled because of the hurricane oh yeah I just heard that
this morning I'm sure they'll try to make it look good it's hard nowadays isn't it a little bit
but they do put a little flexibility in the schedule yeah you know maybe it's hard though you know
because sometimes teams have their bi weeks don't line up you know and since it's a non conference
game and would be against a quality opponent for both both sides they probably won't make this
up because people won't want to be playing somebody that could late number two UNLV we touched a
fact that they're facing Fresno State this is a game you can actually see on FS1 at 230 yeah you
know given the fact that you got those desertions and you know the red shirt stuff and I I saw a
quote from one of the players for UNLV you said the back of quarterback should have been playing
anyways I read that as well so they're not gonna you know they're not gonna say our season is over
plus to his point this guy's completing 44% of his passes so come on and then it's Boise State
that number one and again they are a program that looks like it's bouncing back after some
midland couple of seasons but we're gonna find out a lot more about them with game against Washington
I'm telling you this is one of the best games of the day it's on tonight at nine I think it's on
is that FS1 yep okay you know and so this um this game is critical for both Washington state
because they're in limbo you know they're not in a conference they're essentially an independent
so they have no path here other than to get in as in at large and of course BYU excuse me
that BYU Boise needs to beat them so that is the Sully's top 10 for the group of five and also
we have the top five for the FCS and again if you want to get deeper into those rankings go to
Sully's college football page dot com but coming up next we're gonna start the Sully's college
football page top 25 for the power four so that's coming up next it's Sully's college football page

so these college football page on 98.9 of a uxl and it's time now for the top 25 teams and
number one how do you figure it out what is the method for you when it comes to ranking because
you talk about you don't look at the other rankings it's all about what you decide to do what's
your method of operation well you know we have the game simulator and so first we look at the game
simulator and that will not only give you by the numbers of winner which you and I have talked
is limited you know because the numbers are earned against different opponents if there's been
any history between the teams since 2009 the history of that would also be present more often
than not with the non conference games sometimes there is really no history or they played prior to
2009 then the other thing we look at is we go to Phil Steele and we we look at comments that he
makes and so we absorb them then eyeballing we have a conference page chance so we scroll down
and look at who these teams if they're in the same league who they've played because that
becomes a critical element so mostly record and then who they've played I would say are the two
most obvious determiners for us well let's start at number 25 yeah Texas A&M did not exactly
dominate Bowling Green last week and we talked earlier during the challenge they have a big one
against Arkansas yeah and Bowling Green did the same thing the week before against the team that
they really shouldn't have been around but nonetheless pretty a pretty high functioning Mac team
A&M today you know I did pick Arkansas to beat them today but they really really need to step up
if they're going to have any kind of hope in the SEC today but there's their performance so far
I think they're right where they should be number 24 the fighting Irish and Notre Dame and even
last week at home against Miami Miami was actually ahead deep into the second quarter weren't they?
I gotta tell you I don't know if I would have ranked them if I didn't see better play out of them
in the second half extremely talented and right now I would say their coaching staff
is underperforming they have good players and they've got to decide what they're going to do
with the quarterback because you rightly Leonard is great with his feet and he is very the best
thing you can say is mediocre with his arm washyton state you talked about it they're a independent
pack 12 team of four and all on the season and they they kept their hopes alive with that win
against San Jose last week yeah they did I mean what a game that was 54 to 52 I believe was two over
times really Jake Dickert is doing great work there but they are in one of the most critical games
being played today in college football and you know you can get the popcorn go on or if you're
if you're going to get some exercise then you can get the pizza because it's late I was stayed
off to a flying start they had a nice win against Arkansas state last week they're 4-0 and
number 22 yeah and this is Maddie Campbell's team you know over the years we've always liked him
uh they got Houston tonight they're there Houston is underachieving you know Willie Fritz is there
a guy that I've been following for years really good coach um and a rough start though you really
you know but again when you come in and real fast so the expectations are always so high for
guys to come in and turn it around right away Houston was a pretty good program but whenever you
make a change there's going to be moving parts aren't there yeah Dana Dana Ogerson seemed to have
kind of an attitude about you know the fan base the players and so I think this is a little bit
of the fallout I'm going to protect Willie but nonetheless um I think he'll get it going he's got
it going every place that he's been but right now they're kind of up against the number 21
Pittsburgh after some very thrilling victories come from behind victories they were able to
breathe a little easier last week with a win against Youngstown before bye yeah and I can never
tell my son Michael that I'm ready he cannot stand Pat Nerduzi because Nerduzi has always got
something negative to say about Notre Dame and I got to tell you I find it funny this guy is one
of the best defensive coaches in the country and pretty funny to listen to if you take it in
that spirit a lot like Duffy Dirty with that mouth is number 20 breaking into the rankings Brett
Belama and the fighting Alina of Illinois after their win at Nebraska they could take another
jump if they can find a way to win at Penn State today yeah honestly Nebraska I thought for the
majority that came out played them but you know Belama just they just kept playing and they kept
hanging and then eventually in the end they made some plays at the end of that game in one so great
start for the Alina great start for BYU as well on their number 19 in the country made a statement
last week didn't they yeah as you know coach Sataki has done Kalani Sataki there has done
surprisingly good were worked this this year and beating Kansas State 38 to 9
Chad I had to do a double check on that because I thought that that's not right but there it is
so off to a great start and Oklahoma State the number 18 uh they lost at home to Utah last week
and uh they tried to bounce back not gonna be easy against a team that's looking to bounce back
as well case they yeah you know this game I thought was the hardest game to pick I really did
to think you know and I'm talking straight up here you just don't know because both these teams
they do not do right things they do things right they play their positions first they're not overly
gifted with five stars so they're just solid both of them so this should be a really good ball game
number 17 Louisville beat the pretty good Georgia Tech team last week and they must be good
because you said they're going to beat Notre Dame will they play later today on the road in
South Bend I'm gonna give you two words Jeff and Brahm I think that guy is one of the best coaches
going uh you know I think he's gonna come in with this team that's very very uh prepared
and Chad I'd encourage you to watch their D line they are really good and I think that offensive
line at Notre Dame is in for another challenging day. Number 16 LSU they've uh not been pretty
at times they've been able to find a few ways to win since that season opening loss against uh USC
they're now three in one after beating UCLA uh maybe a bit of a breather from their SEC wars with
the not conference game against South Alabama coming up tonight. Yeah and if you know they they are
kind of the antithesis of Oklahoma state and Kansas state you know I said those teams do things
right LSU does not they do right things they are they got 11 playmakers on defense and everybody's
trying to make a play and so you're never quite sure what you're going to get from them. South
Alabama is explosive um and so they they went into App State and beat him 48 to seven or something
so LSU will win this game but they really do need to be careful against this South
Alabama team. Number 15 USC again they could have been much higher but they let one slip away
at Michigan last week and they'll try to bounce back as a favorite against Wisconsin today.
Yeah you know this team uh in spite of that loss and in spite of Oklahoma or Michigan pounding at
him they looked better physically they looked like they could stand up because out to him
Michigan was committed to running the ball and they ran for 290 yards.
SC did show a little physicality in this game and um you know I like them going forward.
Number 14 Oregon they had a chance to soak up that big win in Corvallis two weeks ago
had a buy last week and now head to the Rose Bowl to take on UCLA tonight. Yeah 10 o'clock so
you're gonna have to be committed to watch this one. Oregon showed life against Oregon state
UCLA did the same last week against LSU but you gotta like Oregon and at some point
you know that speed kills and they're gonna bring it tonight against UCLA. Oklahoma now number 13
and they're foray into the southeastern conference got off to a bit of a rough start
lost a old friend in Tennessee 25 15 last week and and now they continue those SEC wars they've
traveled to Auburn today. Yeah I'm assuming you're talking about Jeff or Hypo. Yeah
for the old Oklahoma Heisman trophy winner. Yeah Josh I should say you know anyway they um
Auburn and you freeze this is off to a difficult start there.
It could happen to a nicer guy. Yeah well here in a lot of rumblings from the fan base again so
they rumble about their coach all the time. Well if they weren't there would be no point in
that being called Auburn. Exactly but uh Oklahoma what do you think uh are you gonna bounce back?
You know um I think Oklahoma uh ran into a buzz song in Tennessee you know I can't say
beyond a shadow but I think Tennessee has a shot to win the SEC this year. In fact Tennessee
Ole Miss Georgia Alabama and um there's one other I'm forgetting now but Texas I shouldn't do
that that's sacrilege as well those five teams Chad I'm not sure who's gonna emerge there so
that's a great race uh so Oklahoma losing them I think they'll find a way back. Michigan number 12
likely kept you know alive I don't say alive but uh put themselves in a much better position to
ultimately earn a playoffs about with that win against USC last week. Yeah you know and their
schedule somewhat forgiving you know um they're gonna have to throw the ball a little more than 38 yards
that you know they they look Notre Dame-esque with their passing attack being that anemic
don't get better there I believe and they've got the great runner in Edwards and they got
other guys that can step right in as well. And number 11 is Clemson and uh again as you said
earlier dabble fighting back against the critics uh had big numbers against NC state and now we'll
uh play host to Stanford later today. Yeah you know and I'm a dabble uh a fan you know I like
what he's doing he's taking on uh you know because you and I have had concerns about transfer
portal and trying to build programs and guys are bailing uh the NIL stuff until it gets solidified
it's it's it's just a while while west you don't know what's gonna happen but nonetheless
Clemson has righted the ship since Georgia I clever Nick clever Nick their quarterback is playing
much better so we'll see what happens with them going forward. That's 25 through 11 but now coming up
the net top ten teams uh in the power four according to Sully's college football page we'll do
that coming up next here on 98.9 WXCO. Don't you just love a good football game don't you just

you need when it comes to college football and sully's college football page.com and once you get
in there it'll be a rabbit hole because there'll be so much to be able to dig into i can tell you
you know you can look at we've got a game list that takes all the teams that are on their back to
2009 so you know there's well over a hundred and twenty fifty i'm not sure where exactly would be
badger games going back so if you want if you're interested in looking at a little history of the
team we can take you back one way. Top 10 for the power for number 10 and to be honest with you
something we talked about last week about how you know early in the season that uh things can
be fluid and teams can sort of either earn their place up or earn their place down. Missouri's been
winning but they have not been winning very impressively at home. They've been last week. Vanderbilt
had an opportunity to beat him. A lot of miss field goals in the game in the end. Vandy misses a
31 yarder and overtime and Missouri wins 30 to 27. To be honest with you I think maybe they're a
little overranked based on what they've done so far this year. Well it's funny you mentioned it
because I struggled to put them at 10. I looked at the teams right behind them Clemson had that
bad loss to Georgia. Michigan got pounded by Texas and then oh you had lost to um to Tennessee
and then came Oregon and I wasn't ready to put Oregon in front of them because they I mean they
were beaten. I ate a hole by three in the fourth quarter they were losing to Boise. So
they're there you know the fact oh my teams around them not playing a lot really well but
they're just winning games. Vandy they beat by three points. Vandy's better. Clark Lea coach
stairs doing good job and yet Missouri they're just surviving. Honestly Chad I'll be amazed if
they're here much longer. Number nine Utah and again that was a good road win last week at Oklahoma
State 2219 again it's not the prettiest football you'll ever see but they are sure effective and
they got another tough one against Arizona. Yeah you know and I heard a lot of the commentators
the analysts really dismissing the score. I don't think those guys ever coached. Look great.
Oklahoma State kept playing which is a cornerstone of Mike Gundy's team. I've seen them down
a lot early and then fight back and win the game. It's not as if Utah had sobbed. There wasn't
as if Utah you know Kyle winning him knows better than to defend the lead. He knows that leads
are advanced not defended. So it was significant that Oklahoma State came back against Utah. Penn
State number eight again they had a glorified scrimmage last week. I think we we still are well
you have to see Penn State where exactly they are right? Yeah you know this game is an interesting
game. Clearly the rosters aren't very comparable Illinois recruits and you know with their transfer
portal you know arguably that screws up the recruiting ranking but nonetheless they're really
not comparable. Penn State is a top 14 top 12 somewhere in their recruiting program
do well in the portal and their roster is better than Illinois but Illinois is just playing better
and I have to say over time while they haven't beat Penn State they are usually very competitive games.
Number seven Ole Miss again they're still undefeated. They take on Kentucky coming up in just
a few minutes and I'm not going to mention that quarterback's name this time. I'm just going to say
I think this team is really good. They they were a top seven recruiting program
and they are you know they were number one in the portal and then of course they got that crazy
guy Lane Kiffin running around drawing plays up on the Astro turf so very good team and really
looking forward to seeing them when they start to get deeper into the SEC. Number six Miami
still there at the skin of their teeth the last night the 38-34 over VATEC a little controversy I
guess you would call it at the very end with that Hail Mary that looked like it was a incomplete
pass and it was a touchdown there was an incomplete pass but in the end they got the W and
they undefeated. That's exactly what it was it was first first Miami wins then no no VATEC Virginia
Tech wins then no they right either now they go to replay and I have to tell you I was surprised
they overturned it because there was not a lot of evidence one way or the other and it was ruled
a touchdown and a field F hmm number five Ohio State again you've talked about the fact that
they have not truly been tested yet but still as much talent as anybody in number five buck ice
yeah you know that this in my in my opinion is the team that has the best you know 22 they have
the best starting line-ups either side of the ball when you when you accumulate them put them
together of anybody in the country that Spartans the thing you always love about them is they
look down the other end of the field and could care less they don't care who's down there and now
we get into the SEC major portion of our program because the top four teams in the Sully College football
page top 25 are all from the southeastern conference you got number four Alabama they they
went to Madison two weeks ago they got the big win against Wisconsin had a buy last week and now
it's all set up for the major showdown at home against Georgia today yeah so four versus two
a dropped Ohio State two spots because of their schedule you know Alabama and Georgia are now
playing better teams and when you looked at their schedule although I think Ohio State is quite
capable of beating either of those teams their schedule doesn't warrant it and you've got to see
them because it's not just what you and I may think it's what they have done and so way back
for them but right now Alabama and Georgia two versus four is really the game of the day and
a great game in the SEC and Tennessee again they they went on the road they went to Norman they
defeated Oklahoma last week 25-15 they're still perfect they now get a buy week but Tennessee boy I
mean they just continue to impress so far this year I got to tell you when you're talking
Tennessee Georgia Alabama Texas and Ole Miss pick one this is a great race you know the big 10
I think right now you're saying maybe Michigan maybe Penn State maybe Oregon probably Ohio State
here it's hard to really separate these teams and I would tell you it's quarterback play these
teams have really really good quarterbacks number two Georgia again we know that they're going to
be on the road at Alabama for Georgia I mean you talked about it earlier that they have not done
well against Alabama what do you think the mindset is for them again I imagine that they more than
anybody know that they've had the struggles against the tide yeah you know what I mean people will
say I mean fine bomb and some of those other guys you listen to them talk and they'll say Georgia
is not the standard bear I would respectfully or maybe not respectfully but nonetheless disagree
because head to head Alabama wins and by the way Georgia played in the SEC East that division
Bama played in the West and even a casual fan knows that the West was a lot harder to navigate
than the East so Georgia would get there sometimes Alabama playing in the West would get upset
whether it was that LSU team from a few years ago you know and so they didn't always get there
and number one Texas yeah Texas says the number one team as you said it's it's hard to
choose why Texas number one well you start with them with their their quarterback play they really
have too high quality quarterbacks and you know I've never been a person who subscribes to if you
have two quarterbacks you have none these guys are both outstanding players and so their quarterback
room their defensive front seven their online their bags their receivers they're good everywhere
and so at this point I like them but I don't think that there by any means a clear cut favorite I
would give them a slight edge but you know when you get in with Mississippi or you get in with
Alabama those quarterbacks on a day can beat you they're at Mississippi State today and I thought
I thought I found it interesting again Mississippi State over the years have had good football teams
yes they have Texas is a 39 point favor today that's an interesting number yeah I would bet I'm
Mississippi State because that's just a big number you know when I when I hear those I always find
the gamblers somewhere interesting everybody's got their hair slicked back they all talk like
during the mob you know the bottom line is Danny Mullin had Mississippi State to what you just
said number one in the country you know I think right now Florida and Mississippi State last week
they should have invited Danny Mullin in the game and then had a bidding war to see if they could
get him back but yeah Texas should should Mississippi State this year is just not very good all right
we got about 90 seconds to go here and I think the number one game is Georgia and Alabama and
you said what what is the factor that Sabin's not the coach is that I mean because again I think
that is a factor I mean when you can say Alabama saw all the success against Georgia that was with
Nick Sabin I mean I know that what's his name Kaden the borer what is yeah he is no obviously
out of terrific record but it's not a very long record he came into Washington to turn around
rather quickly this is his first Alabama Georgia game what kind of factors that gonna be now it's a
big one and you look at I would bet you know a ten dollar bill to a penny that Georgia Kirby smart
and others have talked about Saint Nick is gone this is a new era and we're gonna start out today
and put this one and eight record against BAM in the last nine to rest we're gonna take it to
them you know the quarterbacks are really interesting in this game Carson back you know it's kind
of coming in the the season was ordained as the best quarterback in the country let alone
the SEC I don't know that he's playing at a higher level than Milrose you know and so
and Alabama they're massive the people that were at that game have all talked about they were
down by with a tunnel where Alabama comes out and they they were bigger in the offensive line
than even the better Wisconsin teams so I like Alabama in the game but you know when you say
Sabin's gone I think about Sabin News new Kirby real well time for football so enjoy the
game Sully we'll catch you next week hey as always great great honor to be here with
