Brewers' Triumph, Political Tensions, and Community Voices
Say Something Real · Tue Oct 27, 2026
Don't be out here acting no fool if these people win game for tonight. Uh-oh. I'm just telling you right now. This applies specifically to Jermaine. Uh, Shell and Clark. Michael Rideout. Okay. Uh, Shell and Clark, I hope y'all got some bill money because tonight wants the Brewers win.
I have never understood people who don't know how to celebrate appropriately. I'm climbing up the poem and like the white people do again again never understood Why I said a carl fire cuz I'm happy
Don't don't mess around and get caught because the brewers they come to get dirty all out of jail The brewers they got nothing on your little money. You got to pay to get your car repaired. They got nothing on your DUI. They got nothing on it listen
If you see me on top, they ain't got nothing. Only dance to the Kurt Franklin stuff. You call us to steal your gore. She gonna be like this number has been just right now. She probably had to disconnect it from the world series tickers. Everybody was calling about this number is no longer in service.
So let me say good morning to the one sane brother in the studio. He knows how to celebrate. He just put on some socks. He put on his brewery socks. Clark, Clark, like I got stuff to do tomorrow. I ain't got time to be out here. I got no food to make. Yeah, I got the socks on. Yeah, bro. I'm gonna stay up with you because you seem a little bit more rational, a little bit more thoughtful about this celebratory situation. Yeah.
But you decked out though, I see you over there. I had to do a live remote today, so I had to put on my socks. You got socks on, you had, you know, we had to look up. Look, all right, all right. I think people wouldn't mind if you had a bruise hat on. They wouldn't mind. They wouldn't mind. I didn't care if they didn't mind. Oh, D-Boy got his hat on, so he didn't care. You know, I'm just saying, such an attitude.
I don't care if they mind or not and uh, right out, right out, right out. Listen here. No. No. Last night as I was watching the game. No. Indulging. No. Indulging what? What are you doing? Kool-Aid. I was drinking Kool-Aid. Red. Red Kool-Aid. Indulging. The red Kool-Aid with breadsticks. I was watching the Brewers go hard, man. I almost fell bad. I fell bad. I did.
I was happy when they got on the board. I was all like, all right, y'all. It wasn't so. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That was, that was knocking him down. That was knocking him down.
I want to, I want to be clear. It was, it was born a lot of embarrassment. And you know, and they know, they know they're a good team. So to just be standing there like that is like. No, but, but to check this out pitching was incredible to only give up one hit. I think all the way to like what the six or seven thing and or something like that. And yeah, man, they, they.
They did an excellent job, man. I was proud and uh, you know unlike Keith Keith I don't I don't want to put the f on there I stayed
on the wagon. You know, when we was trash, I stayed with him. He gonna jump shit. He gonna jump shit. And then he gonna jump back on. We'll see you going around the corner and he think you're going too fast. He gonna jump off before you hit the corner. But then after we make the corner, he gonna run and catch up with the wagon. Yeah. I mean, he terrible. He terrible. But I did. I felt bad for the raise though.
It was it was rough man. And you know, he was watching my brother. He's such a baby. I was like, man, you just hate to see him get handled like that. That's it. No, because see, I had been out at events all evening. I want to go see Kamala Harris. Do the I want to go cover. I want to go cover women for Crawley.
So Kamala Harris was the speaker. And then I had to go to two other events. And so I got home and I was like, Keisha, what's going on with the gang? So she's like, ah, man, when I turned it on, it was 10 and up. And I was like, Jesus, this is rough. This is rough. So let me just say, A, for show, go brewers, proud of y'all, y'all doing the thing. But I want to tell you, I went back and watched.
Game one When they got that rally and they showed the Manager and the coach talking to the young boy young brother somebody had only been in the in the league In the majors for two months and then to watch them get excited for him I mean like the players was almost more excited for him than they was for what had just happened
It was a crazy celebration. I just it was it was cool to see. It was very cool to see. Yeah, his face told it all to he was like, oh snap. Like, yeah, you so many of your place in history, young brother. Well, you're playing in the playoffs. I mean, your incentives are. Yeah. Incredible. Incredible. And then to win the World Series, to play in the World Series in the World Series and win the World Series. I mean, it says.
your status go go. Yeah. So, it was it was impressive. Um but yes. So, how do you do that? Did I talk to you? Yeah. Look, he's saving it all up for tomorrow. He's saving it all up for tomorrow.
like a historical ten and no in the play. Well, yeah, yeah, that has that has never been done in the World Series. Never been done in the World Series. So, Brewer's has actually made history and also with all of these, you know, comebacks, these back to back comebacks, man, they are, you know, making history, man. So, yeah, yeah, put them on the map. Hey, man, I go back all the way to Raleigh Fingers, baby.
Monitor monitor monitor monitor MO in It's monitor you say monitor. That's what I say
You clearly don't because I gave you an opportunity to clean it up double down on me like
I'm going to double down on it with an attitude. I'm a clown. You like Nicki Minaj up in here. Keep on. Keep on. Alright.
So, yeah, let me just say this. I got a chance to go to the Women for Crowley event as press to check out and cover the whole situation and had a really great conversation. I sat next to two reporters that were from Al Jazeera.
one based in LA, the other one based in DC. But one brother, he was from Honduras. And we were just talking about the political landscape and everything going on around the country. He said, look, we got 11 teams out all over the US today. And, you know, but we got assigned Wisconsin. I said, man, I would have traded the Wisconsin assignment for the Georgia assignment or the Mississippi assignment. And he was laughing, you know, but I had a great conversation, great, great.
young men over on the media press row. But Kamala did her thing, full of energy. You know, you can tell David Crawley's voice is all shot up. It's taking its toll.
pushing through these last seven days. It's going to be a lot. Now, Erica voice sound crisp is a you know, a brand new dollar bill. Like, okay, Eric, I'm energized. I'm about to start decorating the mansion and so I'm about to have a cook and some services, you know. And so, Erica, Erica sounded good and strong. That's his wife. But didn't make it over to the NAACP event that was
the town hall that was hosted over at St. Mark's yesterday. If anybody got a chance to go over there, please call in. Let me know how that went. I'm assuming all went well. The national president of the NAACP, Derek Johnson, was in town for that. So I'm sure that that was a hugely successful event over there with Pastor Joy and the St. Mark's family. So, you know, a lot, a lot going on, a lot to get to, but I want to remind people
A few things this morning, you are going to hear this up until Election Day. A lot of this information, it is going to be on repeat. Get used to it because the goal is to get you to tell somebody else. Even if you're good, now I need you to make sure somebody else is good. We are still in the midst of early voting that lasts until November 1st. You can go to the polls.
to an early polling location and cast your ballot. I have passed a number of them in the city. It looks like the traffic has been vigorous. I'll pull up some numbers and kind of see where we are in terms of early voting, but early voting around the country is off the charts. Early voting is crazy, particularly in a lot of these battleground states. The black turnout has been, I mean,
They talking about like Obama level and in some cases surpassing Obama level turnout to be able to address some of these issues that's going on. So you if you have your ballot at home, we are now at the point. Please don't mail it in.
Please figure out a way to have somebody take you to drop that ballot off at an early polling location or a secure polling box, ballot drop box. Do not mail that ballot in. Unless you just can't, you are not mobile. There's nobody that can pick you up and get you to a polling location. You can call us all to the polls and see if they're offering it or vote riders. I need to figure out if anybody's offering rides during this early period because those mail-in ballots
at this stage in the game, we're starting to talk about it being, you know, you're going to be making people nervous about whether or not you're going to be able to get those ballots securely counted. If you've mailed that ballot in, go to myvote.wi.gov and check to see if it reports that your ballot has been received. You can just say track my ballot.
that's just click that on track my ballot and it'll tell you whether or not yep the election commission was like yep um miss fanny you good we got your ballot you know we ready to roll um you can register at the polls if you are not registered you can register wisconsin is one of
I think only two states, I know it's a few, maybe two, that allows an individual to actually register on election day at the polls. There is no reason for you to be left behind in terms of this election. This conversation is way too much going on. And it's, you know, I'm gonna just say this.
We got to do our part in Wisconsin to even help impact what happens in Georgia, what happens in Mississippi, because it's going to take a collective effort of getting everybody's individual state house in order to be able to deal with what's going on at the federal level. When I say that watching Donald Trump and JD Vance defend the
the ad that was done by Vivek Ramaswamy in the governor's race that he is, you know, bidding for in which as a young girl, his opponent indicated that she had been sexually assaulted as a 12 year old child. And when she told her mother,
Her mother chose to believe the man who did it, which was her stepfather and Ultimately the man who did it was found guilty but the mother opted to stay with the stepfather and so This young lady goes on her name is Amy acting she goes on to build a life for herself. She is running for governor in Ohio and Vivek Rama Swami
Y'all all have seen the story by now they go and dig up her mother and They put her mother in a commercial Lady look like she had teeth in 16 years and put her in a commercial and Tell people if you think that she's gonna be good for your you or your this state Y'all don't know y'all don't know her. She's a liar paraphrasing, but that's what it comes down to
Amy Paxton hadn't seen her mother in 50 years. And then you just think about, hey, I've never understood the woman who believes the offender over the child. I just have never, never, never understood that. But you kick all this dirt back up. So she has Amy has to relive it. Her family has to relive it. If she has children.
And I don't know, I haven't looked yet. Her children are sitting here like going, wait, what happened? And then her children got to go to school and people like, yo, mama got raped when she was 12. Like the whole thing is so just sore it and ugly and vile and nasty. But this guy has no shame. So Republicans have been blazing them like, man, you need to take that down.
You out of order for that. You need to take it down. But who comes out and says, oh, he talked to me about it. I think it's a great idea. It was a gift from God. Tells people that at a pep rally. It's silly women sitting behind them, smiling and laughing about somebody bringing up the history of sexual assault against a female candidate. Like I said, I've never seen so many silly women, Republican women in my life.
I've never seen such silly women. And then JD Vance, with his ignorant, I had sex with a couch cushion. He doubled down and said, yeah, I support it. At some point, you gotta make a decision about what is acceptable and what is not.
What is unbecoming of leadership? What is foul and should be done away with in terms of these people being elected and returned to office? You cannot cosign for behavior like this. And the actions that we take right here in our own state, it will help to curtail what's going on in DC because we begin to send messages. Tom Tiffany, you support this clown. You support this nonsense.
Nobody steps out and speaks out in a forceful way to say Trump you the hell out of order for backing and telling people this was a gift from God to be able to talk about a woman who said that she was sexually assaulted as a 12 year old child But oh wait you the same perv who was sitting here with your daughter on your lap talking about you know, I could have dated my daughter and You the one caught up in the Epstein files So I guess you don't have a problem with
somebody having sex with a 12 year old kid. Because you've been linked to kids and these f-sting files, your name appearing in the files almost more than anybody else. You want to say something, Jack? Yeah, I was going to say, whoever thought that that was a good idea to go find her mother, put her mother in the commercial is a complete imbecile.
Like why would you do that? Like how could you think? Okay? Hey, let's do that. You know, this would be you know, something, you know Devastating to her and her campaign. This is That is the lowest of the lowest that you can go. I Mean, I don't think you can go any lower. I'm just saying to look at the women who was sitting behind Donald Trump when he was talking about it and Chi Chi and Tiki and about it. It was disgusting and somebody put in the
in the chat, I will be voting for Damien. I'm sorry for Dr. Amy acting. And yeah, you know, let me let me give him eyes because as I said, she goes on and does an incredible job with her life given everything that she went through and she does become a physician. She does become a doctor, a medical doctor. But just to be drugged back to that and have to relive that and your husband and your children, your family got to go through this.
By that is raggedy for this but even more appalling is the man in the White House So on one hand you are Let me bring this up before I go to break. Let me because While they were co-signing or Amy packed and being attacked in this way The one aid in the White House who got fired
Who was at the game who threw the water or through her drink? Whatever was her drink? Let me pull up her name real quick because I forgot it right house a through drink So she was at a basketball game And she was sitting near the girlfriend of a Milwaukee Bucks player and Oh Britt McHenry, I couldn't think of the child's name and
So she was sitting next to the way the version I heard sitting next to a Milwaukee Bucks player and some fans started indicating, you know, like the Bucks player girlfriend either wasn't attractive or they was going after her. And so Britt McHenry. Reportedly told the fans like, man, why don't y'all chill like cut it out? And then one of the fans started going at her.
And so Britt and the fan is going back and forth and the fan threw their drink on her first. And she retaliated by throwing her drink back on the fan. And the next thing you know. People getting thrown out and they got to leave the game, but the Trump administration hears about it and they fire her.
because it's not a good look. Don't never let me defend nobody that works for Donald Trump because that in and of itself is a horrifically poor choice. But if that account of events is accurate, so I'm a fired woman who was defending another woman, but I'm a celebrate the dude who tried to use a.
women's history of rape, sexual assault, and a campaign ad against her. Think about the mind that does that. I gotta go to break. But just let that sit with your morning coffee. I'm a fired woman who was defending another woman and herself quite frankly, because you throw a drink on me. You better believe something coming your way. I'm a fired her.
But I'm a I'm a support and uplift the dude who wants to use rape as a campaign tactic. I'll be right back. So I just hit the recording and we can go ahead and get started. OK.
All right, family, welcome back to the show. This is Michelle Bryan WNOV, 860 AM, 106.5 FM. You are listening to say something real. And real talk, we know that the election is just days away now. And we have all boots on the ground, all hands on deck. We are seeing surrogates and organizations who understand what's at stake in this upcoming November 3rd election, giving it everything they have.
nothing is going to be, nothing is going to be left on the field when we get done or it's just that we'll leave it all on the field. One of those organizations that is definitely playing a role, making sure that they are enlightening, educating,
Uplifting and empowering the community, not just here in Wisconsin, but around the country, is none other than the Service Employees International Union, otherwise known to most of us as SEIU. And we are joined right now by the international president, April Verrett, on the line. Hey, April, how are you today? I am doing so well as y'all are fan of Wisconsin every day is a good day.
You know what? I hear it and I understand it. I understand that we got the south side of Chicago represented up in here as well too today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got a whole bunch of family and cousins down on this end. I'll let you know right now. We all from Mississippi. You know what? By way of Georgia and Alabama.
Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. I am so excited to talk to you. Let me just tell you, first and foremost, watching your ascension to become the International President of SEIU has been nothing short of just a moment of pride for so many people. I'm not a member of the union, but come from a steel mill union family. So I understand steel workers, I should say. I understand how it goes.
You've been in this particular role for, what, about two years now? Has it been two years now? Yeah, it's been about two years. For our listeners that may not be familiar with you April and how you become the International President of SEIU before we set up the ground game, can we take a minute so folks know who they're talking to?
Yeah, no, I appreciate that. So I am the international president of SEIU. We represent 2.1 million workers across the country. Many of them are right there in Wisconsin. But I'm an organizer. They can give me whatever fancy title they want. I'm an organizer. And I do this work and poverty wage work forever. I build powerful workers. I build an organization that brings workers together.
to make sure we get the money, the power, and the respect that we all deserve. Now, I'm not going to say that I didn't hear a little bit of DMX and Lil' Kim in there. I am a certain agent. I do think I heard Lil' DMX and Lil' Kim in the money, the power, and the respect, but I understand. You absolutely... I'm sorry to... I'm sorry. You absolutely heard that. I am who I am, not my...
I am that same chick.
from the south side of Chicago. You know what? I have literally made, let them know my TI, my theme, music, everything I walk into. I'm like, make sure TI is a phone bank. Make sure. I mean, and it is the cool thing about it, you know, that we don't have to give up the culture. We don't have to give up our identity, who we are to be accepted. You know, that we still understand that diversity, equity, and inclusion is important as we are navigating out here in the workplace.
So, let me do this. You are here in Milwaukee, on the ground. Why? Why is SEIU playing in Wisconsin? Listen, I mean, for a whole host of reasons. At the top of the list, we believe in, I believe in David Crowley. I believe in helping to elect the most diverse slate of candidates in the history of Wisconsin that includes David and
My girl JoJo and Cole and the woman running for Lieutenant Governor, all of them. Thank you. Thank you. I've been practicing saying these things. I told JoJo she was just going to be JoJo. But our National Union has a role to play. We are investing over $100 million.
and 31 battlegrounds across the country. But more importantly, we are mobilizing 1 million of our members to make sure we stand up for candidates who stand up for us. The biggest divide in this country isn't left or right. It's about who has power and who doesn't. And we want to make sure we are building and creating avenues for real power for working people. And so being in Wisconsin is a very important part of that.
So we understood that some of that erosion of power dates back for us, you know, 2011 act 10 and what we saw that was done to severely restrict public employee unions. We know that there's a lawsuit heading to the Supreme Court in the state right now that are challenging major aspects of that law. Is that top of mind while you are also thinking about the role of the governor and who was sent to that office?
Absolutely, top of mind, you know, XN was a blow not just to labor here in Wisconsin. It was a blow to labor nationally. A couple of sector unionism started in Wisconsin. And for them to rob us of that has been, you know, painful to say the least. And the statewide rights of work that came shortly on the heels after, you know, we can point to the erosion of power not just in Wisconsin.
but the erosion of power and the rise of income inequality really connected to a 40-year attack on labor that you all see play out here in Wisconsin with Act 10. And so, yeah, we want our lit back. We are going to get our lit back.
Oh yeah, I like you more and more every second. I'm telling you, we're gonna have to meet, we're gonna have to meet. But look, they're trying to have these conversations with folks, whether we're talking about wages, healthcare, housing, workplace protections. I'm telling people that these fights, while you may see some of the union organizations out front, these are fights that impact.
everybody. So, as you are out there, because we know Wisconsin isn't the only place you've been, what are you hearing, April, when you're engaging, you know, voters and constituents out there? Yeah, and to your point, like, listen, the price of gas is too damn high for everybody. The price of food is too damn high for everybody and rent. And what we are seeing happen to our immigrant siblings and neighbors and friends, like, just
there is right and there is wrong and it's just not right. And so people want to bring sanity back. You know, MAGA and this administration is proving to make our country just more stressed to hell out, sicker and broker. And it's time to start doing something to fix that.
And that's what people are saying here in Wisconsin. It's what they're saying in Chicago, where I'm from. It's what they're saying in LA where I spent a lot of time. It's what they're saying in Georgia and North Carolina and Michigan and Arizona and Nevada. This is a country of people that are fed the hell up and we want what is ours and what we deserve.
So then let me just ask you, you know, because as we are working our way up to the November 3rd election, we know, I mean, I've been seeing, you know, it feels like a little bit of an Obama-esque kind of feel just a bit, because I'm seeing buses roll through the city, you know, signage, people standing on the sides, holding rally signs, getting cars to honk and blow their horns. But there will be folks that will tell us that, you know, the door-to-door canvassing
that that's played, that it doesn't have the same impact. As someone who does it and does it that way, what would you say to groups that want to be engaged but think that they can just send a postcard and get somebody to turn out to vote? And you may hear a little bit of a bias in my tone, you know, so I'm trying to try to make a sound balance. But what do you say about the effectiveness of being on the ground and talking to voters? Yeah, listen, you know,
technology and things like rain cameras. You know, may door-to-door campus thing a lot harder. But here's the thing, nothing beats a direct conversation, particularly with somebody who you trust. There's so much myths and disinformation in the world. And what a digital ad can't replace is real eye contact, right? What a postcard can't replace if somebody's sitting down really talking through the issues and answering your questions.
And so we have to figure out what is the new age of getting out the boat? How are we making sure we don't take humanity? We don't take relationship. We don't, you know, building real trust and respect amongst people out of our culture. I think so much is wrong about where we've, how we've gotten to where we are is because we thought we can replace real relationship, real community for social media. Like it ain't real.
And we gotta get back to the realness of real connection, of real relationship. And for us in this election, that means looking people in the eye and having a real conversation about what's at stake. So hopefully folks are listening and there will be folks that heed the call, turn out the vote, people will get up and do what they're supposed to. But the other part of this conversation I've been asking people is, so okay, what about November 4th?
Once we you know, what does that look like for SCI you and I know a lot of that is contingent upon how these elections go Everybody's been talking about midterms midterms both at the state level and at the federal level But what does that look like for you all is it are we in wait mode or do we have because my frustration is I say, you know, what's playing ABC and cute, you know, all of the different contingencies do we know
Whatever the election is, we thought about that and we're ready to move regardless of how these, you know, elections work out. What do you say about something like that? Yeah, so I think this is such an important point. This election is not over when the polls close on November 3rd. This election is over when every single election is certified.
Right, we know they are already planning. They are filing lawsuit after lawsuit They are fighting and playing dirty and we gotta know one understand that this is not over until every election is certified That's number one because we came at him still is from us
And you mentioned Obama a little while ago. I want us to hold that we failed him because we got him elected.
And we sat down and we put our pictures of him in our house. Wait a minute. We celebrate it. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. OK. Now, when I tell you officially we sisters, wait a minute. I beat that drum all the time. You got him elected, and then you left him to fight by yourself. You got him elected. We left him. Oh my god. I have not heard anybody else say that to me in an interview. OK, keep going. Yeah.
We go up the pictures, we wore the t-shirts, we celebrated, but we left him alone. Listen, y'all, let's say they're called. Don't leave that man alone. Fight with him. We just want somebody to come out and fight for us. And sure, I'm a favorite one that I want somebody to come knock somebody's head off for me. But I also...
also want somebody that's gonna stand 10 toes down, like I'm gonna stand 10 toes down for them. Let's fight this fight together. We cannot just abandon people anymore. This takes a movement. It takes all of us to get what we want to need.
So last question, because I didn't think that this was even possible, but I have run into some undecided voters. We have been out, I'm a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and I'm the co-chair of our social action committee. So, you know, we are here doing our part and we have some referendums on the ballot that are scary. And there are some things that have certainly helped our organization, you know, drive messaging to the residents. But if there are folks that
they have not voted yet and are still on the fence. Is there anything that you want them to understand from the perspective of SEIU, from labor, you know, all the different things that you see and encounter that then why they need to participate? What is it, you know, that we may be missing, that we are communicating to them? Any final words for folks? Yeah, I mean, absolutely.
There are so many things that are being said, right? When you don't do politics, politics do you? Sure. When you ain't at the table, you on the menu, of course. If they trying to take away our votes, what is it really about? Why are they trying to keep it from us? Absolutely. But listen, folks, your vote is your voice, it's your power. Exercise it. No candidate is perfect, right? There is no silver bullet. Nobody is gonna come and save the day.
But we gotta fight for the opportunity to be able to save ourselves. And if millionaires are spending tens of billions, like $66 billion or $1 million, excuse me, I heard this morning, here in Wisconsin alone, they know that this is about them being able to stay in control, them being able to continue to get the tax cuts. We gotta stand up for ourselves.
We gotta say that the prosperity that we help create in this country, we should have a share of. And so that's what this election is about. It is about our ability to keep fighting for what's better. And I like to say this is about our money, our power, and our respect. And there are some people who want us to have it, and there are some people who's trying to keep it from us. And I think the choice is pretty clear.
You know what? I don't think that there's a better place to end this interview. April, you are everything I thought you were going to be. I am so ecstatic to have made this virtual introduction. Look forward to the day when I get a chance to see you in person.
Please continue to work, please continue to advocacy, boots on the ground, and that authentic way in which you are showing up, because that's the other thing. People respond to folks when they can see you really care about what it is that you're doing. I will quickly say this, when I was reading the bio about you when you first became the president, international president, I saw the story about your upbringing and your grandmother raising you
her role in influencing you. So every time I hear your name, I'm singing grandma's hands in the background. But can can I just ask you as you as you end the conversation? Because I don't know much about, you know, if your grandmother is still alive or she got to see any of this, but just a nod because I believe in respect in history, ancestors, the folks who, you know, introduced us to the game and the fight. Could you just say something about that?
Thank you for that, Michelle. You're gonna make me cry. Yeah, you know, my parents died when I was really young. I was two weeks old when my mother died. She was 28. My father died at 32. I was six. But oh, I had my mama, you know, who made sure my sister and I had everything we needed. And pretty much a lot of what we wanted. She died at 67. I was 26.
And so I know that the three of them died because they were black and poor in America. And I have done the work that I do each and every day because I want to change the circumstances that allow that to happen. They all died from things that were preventable. And so I carry that legacy with me every day. I am very clear about my why and
The real flex is not being the first black woman president of SEIU. The real flex is making sure I'm not the last. And then a lot of children who were born into the circumstances that I was born into have an opportunity to realize their hopes and their dreams.
Come on now, that's what I'm talking about. All right, let me let her get out the way and get back to the work. None other than Ms. April Varet, you have been exposed, you have heard. Now let's go, you know, honor the work and make sure we are doing our part to get the results we need in this election to move our community forward. Thank you so much, April. Safe journey. And we appreciate the work here in Wisconsin.
Alright family, so I am ready to take a commercial break, but I just wanted to
play for you. I had to record her on my cell phone because they literally were out knocking doors over by Greater New Berf, with the Greater New Berf church area community. Congressman Danny Davis was in town, Congressman McGuinn Moore. I'm gonna tell you, people was out here getting this work in this weekend. And so they pulled her to the side so that I could interview her while she was on her way to her next event. So let me take a break. I'll be right back.
I don't know
They call the cops on a three-year-old Cause he got game and it can't be controlled He took the ball, now the whole thing's a scene That's some crazy bad, you get if you know what I mean
Man that's wild to me.
I'll tell you right now. When I tell you, I've been playing that over and over again. People are still talking about this situation with this three-year-old baby who had the police called on him because white parents have said that their children were not getting enough touches
on the ball because this young boy was running it from one end to the other. And then Jermaine sent me something saying, hey, hey. So they have found out who actually made the literal call. Now I want to be clear.
The call was made by a is there any profanity in this piece? I didn't listen. Yeah, that's why I'm gonna play it. I'm not gonna play it but the call was made by a gentleman whose name is Thomas Hayes Thomas Hayes is African-American He is the commissioner for this this Let's see
Thomas Hayes is the commissioner and the white parents was pressuring Thomas Hayes, the black man, to do something. So I don't know if the white parents had called the police or how it all gets to call the police, but the literal call was made by a brother. There are moments
that you have to take stock of your life and just ask the question, am I about to be a part of this? There are moments because nobody could have called me, got in my face to request that I do something about this little black child. He's like, I think the only black child out there too.
So nobody came to this baby's defense, but his parents, not his coach, not the black man that was the commissioner of the league. Nobody, nobody except his parents who had no power in this situation as the police recall to make sure that they physically were escorted off the property.
There are times when you have to take a stand. There's no way. I kept thinking about my son. My son has coached little league sports and
I could just see my son if some white parents came up to him as the coach or the commissioner and said, you know, we want this boy removed off the field. We want him gone because he plays, you know, he's playing so much that our kids not getting touches on the ball. We didn't pay for our kids to be in this league and not get to play. And it's like, ma'am, your kid is on the field. Your kid just don't have no damn skills. So this is that, you know,
I'm using it wrong, but participation trophies, you know, like, you know, we out here because we don't want your kid to feel, you know, what it means to compete, what it means to not necessarily be the best performer on the field. You paying for your kid to be a member of a soccer league don't guarantee that your kid going to get no touches on the ball if they're not good. They out there, they got a uniform on, they run them down the field. That's what you pay for.
But your kid scored a goal that's on your kid and you like They are now all the videos surfacing but they've been out there for a while when his boys family poured into him They work with that child consistently to make sure that he had them kind of skills and there's video after video This little boy smoke everybody Big kids girls boys older He killing everybody
He's been doing it since he was one years old So it's like, you know, y'all had Michael Jordan LeBron, you know Or just think of all the people that's at the top of the game out there on that field your kids ain't getting no touches But I just had to say it because when Jermaine pointed it out, I was like say what now? He's like, yes, yeah, the person that actually literally made the call was a black man bruh
How you do that? How did you not feel no responsibility as a black man for what was getting ready to happen to this black child and that black boy has seared now in his memory forever? That that's how he got handled and later to get older and realize that it was a black man that made the call because these white folks was breathing down your neck. All the white folks could kiss my behind.
Everybody out there that was trying to make me do it, I would have just lost that job that day. You gotta know when to draw the line. And people like, when Michelle, who worked hard for his career, it's kid soccer. Stop playing with me. There are other opportunities. What do you stand for? It was wrong when it was done and you participated in it being raw. I gotta take a break. I'll be right back.
WNOV. All right, family, welcome back to the show. Is my mic on? Don't sound like it. It does not sound like it. Yeah. OK, welcome back to the show. We got to call it has been on hold. Let me get there. Are we good? I'm OK. All right. So.
Couple of things I want to do in my short amount of time that I have left. First of all, I want to play this. I'm just playing all kinds of stuff today. But I'm saying I apologize, but you don't need to hear from me, but I didn't have time to upload the clips and send them to Jermaine. So I got to play on myself. So here you go. No one in all of media is dealing with this in the proper way. The mother brotherhood is almost 100 years old. Do you know when the United States classified them as a terrorist group?
earlier this year. Donald Trump did it. Since his mother has been implicated in supporting that group, which is 50 years ago, they were not considered terrorist group by the United States 50 years ago. So are we now saying we're going to retroactively say he's responsible for something or does she is responsible for supporting terror when they were not a terrorist group in the United States? There have been 10 presidents between then when she supported them and now, not a single one of them, Democrat or Republican.
decided to make the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group. Do you know how many terrorist attacks on American soil the Muslim Brotherhood is responsible for? Zero. But if we're going to say that children are responsible for their parents, Donald Trump's dad was arrested at a clan rally in Queens.
in 1927. We've said that Donald Trump is responsible for his dad's actions. They've now sent Ted Cruz out to hammer him about being... I have that. Right. Ted Cruz's own father was, by his own admission, a guerrilla fighter when he was a young man in Cuba. And he supported Castro into his college days the same time that, upside, his mother was accused of
supported in Muslim Brotherhood. So now is Ted Cruz responsible? Ted Cruz has said out of his own mouth that his father made Molotov cocktails and blew up buildings. Are we saying that, uh, that, that I see Elsie's mother did that? No, we're not. And so they're using Islam, Islamophobia as a tool here and hoping that no one digs down, hoping that no one's points out the hypocrisy and hoping that no one's does their homework. But I do my homework.
I mean, like, I don't know who finally got the wherewithal to make sure that this brother got on CNN, got on these major panels and has an opportunity to provide insider information. But the thing that went on with this three year old racism.
The thing that's going on with him right now as he's running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, racism. And I'll get to the black riff because, you know, they had President Obama. They're trying to tell black people like, look, y'all, we need to make this move for the overall good and understanding whatever individual grievances we may have. Number one, we have with a community.
You don't have them with this specific individual, but the individual is going to pay for what they believe is the sins of the community. So I'm going to talk about that for a quick second. But you are watching Republicans grasp as straws. And I mean, they they they try everything to win in these states all across the country. So many people have said something to me about the article that was the hit job that was done by Dan O'Donnell's Raggedy Blank.
in trying to make some connection between me and David Crawley, lying on me, talking about I was going into schools, trying to persuade young people to vote for David Crawley, all of which is a lot, a blatant lie. And they have no regard for how they may ruin somebody's reputation, ruin somebody's employment, ruin somebody's life. But it is all a tactic. And so you are seeing
in these races, like in the El Said situation, where they are coming after his mother saying that his mother supported the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist group. And like one article said, Abdul El Said remains close to terror linked mother, despite best efforts to hide her from campaign. First of all, he ain't trying to hide his mom. But second of all, as Charles Blow pointed out, the group when she supported the group was never listed
in the hundred year history of the organization as a terror group until Donald Trump took off, I mean, took office two years ago. So you got all of these presidents, what did he say? Ten, both Republican and Democrat, whose administrations had never labeled the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization until Donald Trump didn't come in. And trust me, it has more to do with the name than anything else. That is the Muslim Brotherhood.
We have got to be smarter than the tactics. You know, and I've had people, you know, say, Michelle, do you think, you know, what Dan O'Donnell did is going to cost you this? I'm like, I don't care what it costs me because I ain't scared of Dan. I ain't scared of nothing that they write. Because I know I don't, you know, I don't play with my own freedom. I don't play with ethics violations. I don't do that. But.
You feel bad for people that get caught up in this foolishness as I've said before But I I applaud else I eat for doing nothing if nothing else this man keep fighting back now the issue he gonna have in Michigan is that too many black folks
have had bad experiences with Arabs and people from the Muslim community that run these stores, you know, in these communities and they treat customers crazy. They, you know, just siphon all the money out the hood and go about their way. They kill people, tell them that they was robbing them. I mean, like, it's a cultural riff.
in the community, the black community and people in the Arab community based on these interactions and these retail outlets. And so black people in Michigan is sitting back like, man, we're not going for him. And Barack Obama came out there and it was plenty of black people was like, man, you know, be, you know, you're my boy. 100 strong. I love you. I'm not voting for him. So it's going to be interesting to see what ends up happening.
but also to see if people pay attention to the lessons that history are trying to give them. Because treating people right goes a long way. And you never know if you will be the direct beneficiary of that behavior or your descendants or another individual from your ethnic or racial group, but messing over people
goes a long way to and This is one of those things else ie, you know, he has some some things he said politically But you know everybody says some stuff We can live with that, but he's getting caught up in historical harm historical drama historical Henshin I'm sorry tension between the black community and the Arab community. That's what's happening to him right now
And he may not have caused it. He may not have personally harmed anyone. He may not have personally been discriminatory or rude to anybody, but he paying for what people believe that have perceived sins of his group in Michigan. Let's just call a thing a thing. Now, this is that that point where it becomes uncomfortable because you have to talk to people and be like, can we be pragmatic here?
Because he individually you can't attribute any of this negative stuff to him other than some slick some slick comments But you can't really attribute any of this behavior to him And so if he personally has not engaged in this can we move forward to get this man elected? You got some black folks like I hear you I can I can I can work with that I can think about that and you got some like man you can go with that miss me Not gonna do it
But I don't want it to be lost, though, that with all of the issues that go on in this country that impact us as residents and citizens, look at the campaign commercials. They forever only got a couple of tricks. We're going to talk about transgenders.
We're gonna talk about murderers and rapists, you know, like when in the one commercial against David Crawley where they're saying that they personally like David Crawley is responsible for crime Like the most ignorant nonsense in the world, but that David Crawley is responsible for crime And you and these commercials are playing over and over again. I gotta go to break
But someone called to remind me that I was going to play this racist ad that ran during the NFL game during the Packer game. But I told you, man, when he reminded me, I saw the commercial myself last night during the Brewer's game. And you cannot believe that this kind of trash is airing during a freaking national sports event in this country where, again,
How many minorities are people of color is playing in base major league baseball? How many? So you can't say they name you butchered a name when it comes to everyday life But you damn sure know they name when it comes to hitting the home run or catching a ball or pitching a good game Selective racism Selective ignorance Selective DEI assaults because DEI in baseball is all good
because you're you wouldn't have went to the World Series without black and brown folks, um, in addition to obviously the white players that play, but don't make no mistake about the number of black and brown folks that helped us get to the World Series and white folks cheering and jumping up and down by jerseys and t-shirts. But then you're going to be the same white people that go and vote on election day to, uh, on question number three to deal with non-discrimination. You're going to be the same ones.
You're gonna be the same ones to support Donald Trump on his racist rants and his BS But you can cheer for all them black and brown people on the sports field again entertain us and attain us But that's all you can do for us. I'll be right back
All right, family, welcome back to the show. So reminding people we are in the throes of it. We are seven days out from Election Day. It is a lot at stake. When I say people are watching all over the country, you know.
What these different outcomes are in many ways we are interconnected even though Mississippi got their own thing going on Georgia Arkansas Kansas is in play. Nobody ever thought that we would have a conversation in which Kansas a red state Is in play because of things and antics that are going on there Alaska potentially looking at you know, a preemptive lawsuit against the state election outcomes because of
the name situation where Republicans are upset saying, hey, they put someone on the ballot who has a similar name to our candidate. And that's illegal. You're trying to confuse the voters. But I mean, think about this stuff. You upset because somebody got a similar name to a candidate on the ballot.
But you openly go down in Tennessee and Georgia in Alabama and completely revamp the districts so that you can 100% shut black folks out of representation in Congress. Think about that. Think about that. You take a predominantly black district like what was happening in Memphis and stretch that district.
boundaries so that it crosses 13 counties going from one end of the state to the other so that you can dilute black voting power. But what you were not counting on is the number of white people that are being impacted by these ignorant policies that got them paying more for fuel, more for diesel. They can't afford food, black, I'm sorry, white farmers alongside black farmers who are losing their farms.
excuse me, because of these terrorists and everything that's going on. Let's look at what's going on in Texas in which there was an effort to draw minority black people out of representation. We're going to cozy up to the Hispanic community and Hispanic community loves us because they voted for Trump and we're going to get all of these seats and the Hispanic communities in Texas has been like, no, because the way you handle immigration is completely out of order.
And so, you know, some of the Hispanics that was all bored, the Trump train have backed up and they said, we vote Democrat or we not vote at all. And so we are in a situation now where we got 11 states that are in play. More than half of these states we shouldn't even be talking about.
We shouldn't be talking about you know, what the heck is going on in Nebraska of all places Traditionally rare states. So again, I'm going to pull those early voting turnout numbers, but It is nothing short of crazy what we are seeing going on around the country here in Milwaukee the the
Number of people that are making sure that they are turning their balance in personally because folks are concerned about whether or not their votes are going to be counted. They are doing that. But our numbers have been very, very brisk. You cannot go and I'm looking for the exact.
uh count and I'll pull that up in just a moment but you cannot go uh anywhere and not hear some people talking about this election but I'm gonna tell you I've got some disturbing text messages where I have people who are saying they are running into folks who still don't have a clue who still are not voting who still you know don't realize uh an election is going on or what's at stake this is literally one of those things we only got seven days I need y'all to be talking for seven days
I need you to be asking everybody that you see. I don't care if you know I'm a not a fan. We checking on voters. Did y'all vote? And if they go, anybody vote, tell me about it. What you don't like? So do you know this is happening? Do you know this is happening? Do you know this is impacting? Like, what can we do to change your mind? What can we do? And I'm not telling you who to vote for when you get there, although I hope you vote for the right people.
But I need you to participate, bruh. Sis, I need you to be in the game. We got seven days. Seven days. And if you just handle your family and your block and your community, we should be all right. You got seven days. Let me go to the phone line. Hey, Carla, what's happening? Good morning. What I don't understand is how Republicans can have white skin color, white privilege.
and still have a problem. To me, that gives me a while-hours rose mindset. Because what is the problem? And if they're overly worth some, just like a junkie or an alcoholic on a Kentucky dirt road, it's never a good moment. You got everything you want.
And you still got a problem. But the reality is because they don't have everything they want. And in fact, you know, it's the age. Oh, and you know this, bro, you're you're politically astute. The people that are acting a fool like that in many regards. And I know there's some wealthy Republicans that, you know, are racist and doing a nonsense. But the people that are showing up at these rallies, foaming at the mouth upset, they don't have financially what they need to be OK. They don't have, you know, resource.
that they need to be okay and they've been told the reason you don't have those things is because of black people, brown people, transgender people, LGBTQ people. They've been given other people to blame for their situation other than the people that's making it possible for them not to get the resources that they need for their communities to thrive and for their families to be okay. So they don't have what they need. They don't have health care. They mouses raggedy too. They don't have, you know,
Um, uh, you know, homes that they can afford, they losing stuff. They, if they had it, you will see a little bit less disgruntleness, but they don't have it. And it's all by design. They just redirecting who they should be upset with. So instead of the people who now bother you, black folks ain't bothering these people. Hispanic's ain't bothering these people. Me going to work is not bothering you. But go ahead. I'm sorry, bro. I just feel like, you know,
It's just a mindset they got maybe they mother and father didn't teach them something now I know a lot of them don't got no teach I know a lot of them is without But they did not use and they said logic or common sense and I'm gonna be honest with you Michelle I think the ones who complain I think they ought to make me to come together and do some good though All right, then Thanks, bro. I appreciate it. All right, so I tell people I was gonna play this commercial so I pulled it up. This is the commercial
that I first got contacted by some folks about. Then I ended up hearing it for myself. I actually heard it last night during the World Series game. If you are in this country and you are not black, you benefit from a system of white supremacy. Our country should be more fearful of white man. Everything is about race.
Today's liberals are full of hate. I hate America. They're obsessed with skin color. I can't even show my face because my skin is white and they'll speak hate at me. Hate leads them to racism. Liberals are the new racists. So they show first AOC that was AOC talking. Then they show Ilhan Omar. And then they show Sonny Houston from the view who said that everything is about race. And then they got this white woman sitting here.
Shrouded in you know darkness talking about she can't show her face because she a white woman and she can't go outside because somebody gonna attack her because she a white woman y'all need to stop playing with me Y'all need to stop playing with me Nobody black people ain't attacking nobody because of your race We don't do it as a general just we don't do it We don't go around picking on white people because you're white and you can't come up with no cases that that proves that
We ain't got no clan outfits, you know, that's the reverse. We'll do that. It's enough going on trying to live in this joint that I got time to be coming after white people trying to come after you for your skin color. We don't do it. Even given the ugly history of slavery in this country, the goal of black people has never been let's go mess with white folks. We don't do that. We don't.
So to run a promotion like this is so irresponsible. And forever, you know, the white female victim, we got to protect her against all things. That's the only virtue that deserves to be protected. But it is white Karen's that's going around, you know, talking crazy to black folks, spending on black folks, call the police on black folks, call the police on black children. We don't do that.
So why is this commercial running? To stoke and create unnecessary fears. We don't think like that. Nobody wants that kind of lifestyle. Trust me, as people that have been victimized, harassed, racially profiled, attacked because of no other reason than our skin color, we wouldn't wish that on nobody.
I'll take a break. I'll be right back. I got a call. Let me go to the line real quick before I wrap the show. Hey, Carla, what's happening? Hey, good morning. What's going on? No, that commercial. But, you know, that was one of the things Trump was saying. The reason why he turned the eye around because the fact of black guys and Hispanics was taking all the jobs from the white folks. Right. You know, and we look, we go around here and.
I worked in situations like in Walker Shaw. We can go where they go and we're going to get hated on and ran off. I stayed in a soft field. But they can come around us and live. You need to stop that. Because they're coming out to me, they get greater than we get anyway, just because of who they are. But then they go around and complain saying that.
They being mistreated or being hated on, no, you hate on yourself and they need to stop that because we are not a hated people. That's why we're in a shape we're in, because we aren't so loving and we accept folks in. And when we accept them in, they stab us in our backs.
All right. Thank you for I appreciate it. You know, it just reminds me in black folks praying in church and the guy comes and you know, they allow him to come in the service he praying and he ends up killing all nine people at the church. So, you know, you're right. I just can't stand the continued depiction that black people in some way intend harm to the white community. We do not.
I've never been to the meeting. I never got the call the secret text that the chain, you know message a yard It's the plan. It's what we want to do. We don't we it's too much going on and Again, if you've been through these things, you do not wish them on anyone else. You just don't you don't have no room for it, but I just I continue to be blown away
by some of the stuff that I'm seeing. I want to address real quickly something, because I only got a little bit of time left, something that was in the chat. And good morning to my folks on YouTube and Facebook. I have been neglectful in the midst of this whole election, you know, situation. So I apologize. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. But somebody said in there.
And I don't remember the exact way they put it, but it came down to they sick of that commercial that the Tiffany folks are running or whoever his supporters are running when David Crawley said when they said David Crawley said he wanted to be an accomplice. OK, in terms of unauthorized immigrants in the country and in the city of Milwaukee, and they tried to equate that to David Crawley saying that, you know,
He opposes ice and he would be in a compass to helping, you know, suspecting undocumented immigrants get away or whatever. And I'm going to tell you, it came up in the debate. There were two lines, I mean, two things that came up in the debate that I did see.
When I was working the event that I said, I wish he had answered differently number one when Tom Tiffany with great, you know glee, you know told David that even the sheriff's department and the police department had endorsed him and You know DC didn't have no good comeback because the comeback should have been have they ever endorsed a Democrat outside of fake David Clark when he was running pretending to be a Democrat have they ever
like, shut it all down. Like, you're not special, bro. This is what they do. This is what the sheriff's union, this is what the police union, this is what they do. They endorse Republicans because when everybody else was getting messed over in Act 10, guess who got spared? The law enforcement and fire.
They unions got protected but everybody else unions got just toe up from the flow of who got protected because Republicans believe that the fire and the police overall Are they they support base? The second thing that I wish David had a better answer to is when Tom Tiffany bust out during the debate about you said you wanted to be an accomplice You wanted to be an accomplice
So the Journal Sentinel actually did a whole little fact check on today. Has Crawley said he supports undocumented immigrants who commit violent crimes? And they referenced the Tom Tiffany ads in which they stated that Crawley said, quote, he will be an accomplice for illegal aliens that commit violent crimes. Crawley has been asked how he would make Wisconsin more immigrant friendly. He had been asked.
how he would make Wisconsin quote more immigrant friendly. He said he opposed police assisting ICE because it discourages unauthorized immigrants from reporting crimes. Then he said I went and when it comes down to immigrants, I am an ally. I am an accomplice. So he said immigrants in general. He did not say criminals. He did not say I'm going to give them cover and shield. He said I am an ally. I am an ally.
So, quality, I said he would not change and walk you kind of share of policy of not assisting ice. He's criticized us at the county courthouse. The county has lobbied to provide state funding for immigrant legal services. And he said he supports deportation for criminal convictions. So, you know, David does need to have a bum is too late now. You know, it's a wrap, but David should somebody on his team should have had a better response to when.
They bring that he wants to be an accomplice. He wants to be an accomplice. Like he never said he wanted to be an accomplice to somebody doing dirt and being and committing a crime. He never said that. But is there anything wrong with wanting to help people who have not committed a crime in this country, some of whom who were brought here by children, people that are working hard, paying into systems that they will financially never benefit from? Because without doubt.
There are cities after cities that are filling the impact of immigrants being removed from the labor force. They are filling it, paying money into systems and services that they do not benefit from. They are filling it. They are filling it. But the other thing I love, you see how now that we're a few days up against the election and I got to get out of here.
Do you see the ice stories as rampant as you were? Do you see the videos of their cars zooming in and snatching people and attacking people? You see how they done played it down just a little bit because we up against the election and they don't want to rob people's feathers? You see how convenient people play with stuff? Where they at? Where the robust arrests?
Because we, we days away from the election. Alright y'all, that's the show for today. I will pick it up tomorrow. Lots of stuff to get to because in the building, I appreciate you as always. Family, I'll talk to y'all later. Peace.
