Wisconsin Governor Race Heats Up: Key Debate Highlights

Say Something Real · Thu Oct 22, 2026

Are we on the air? We're on the air. Good morning. Good morning. What's happening family? Welcome to the show. It is Michelle. We're on here at WN O V 860 AM 106.5 FM. You are listening to say something real and let me just just just make this easy for y'all right now.

We are in the crunch. It is less than two weeks now until Wisconsin will decide on a new governor and all the other races that's down ballot on on the ballot down to, you know, y'all know what I'm saying. So just understand that the commercials are going to be plentiful.

It is going to be aggravating, but they are necessary. Necessary one to educate the public. Necessary two, because it helps pay the bills. Necessary three, because I'm told what I gotta do. So I just want you to know that.

It is going to be, it's going to be hectic. We're going to do commercial breaks. I'm telling people when you call in, please try to keep your comments concise so that we can try to get as much content in between these commercial stop sets as possible. And let me say good morning to the folks in the studio. What's going on with you? What's your name over there in that bruise?

What's going on Clark? How you doing this morning? I'm sorry, did you say you have your lights on your street? The lights that you were talking about what know when we talked the other day and now all of the lights are on Clark stop it

That is crazy and I mean you like how all of them get on that quick So like you know, let me just say this at this moment. I'm just gonna be appreciative We're gonna be thankful that anybody that is you know helping to make this stuff happen But this is why y'all have to call and stay on people and you know

Call I don't give you got a car every day put it on a jack Clark trying to get your attention He don't give you got to put it on a timer car every day till you get what you need

to whoever is being responsive and trying to get this stuff on. We also see that the Common Council is talking about the fines now for folks that are still in this copper. So we'll pay attention to that. So just said again, Clark, you said it. Now, what area of town is this again? That was the Keef area around the Keef to Melvina, all the way up to Keef, all the way probably to, I want to say,

probably the Hopkins area over there. That's a lot of stretch. Yeah. Yeah. And the lights and you said you thought the lights have been off for a month, but you know, they've been out for two months. That's what the owners are young and the lady they care. So these are businesses. Yeah. Yeah. They've got to go in and out daycares.

and you know, taverns over in the area and the business owner said, nah, the lights had been out longer than that. Two months. I thought it was a month, but they said two months. That's crazy. But they on the day it was on yesterday. I said, oh, look, that's a little guy. I said, thank you, Michelle. I wish I could take the credit. But this is what happens when y'all start raising hands. When y'all, like I said, we can't just

talk amongst ourselves, talk at the barbershop, you know, when we out and about, you got to tell the people that's responsible for making stuff change or getting stuff done. The folks are actually paying to do this work.

Yeah, it starts there and you got to be relentless about it. The way these other folks get what they want is because they stay on it every day. They hammer it in. You get sick of them calling. You know them by name. Hi, John. How's it going? You know, because you already know they're calling you. I remember in Lena's office and for folks that are looking at my stuff today. Yeah, I see you. That's it. And you got the bruises. Yeah, I got the bruises. Pediatrics delivered my stuff to me yesterday.

I'm a boy. I'm telling y'all. One of my hoodies that's coming. It's a fool. Y'all gonna be mad. It ain't no me. You ain't gonna be talking about where you get that from. All right, back up. You can tell me where the hats came from. Yeah, your private stash on the brewer's hat. So, yeah, y'all, y'all gonna be sweating me on my hoodie. I'm waiting on that joint. But, um, you know, the one thing is, I don't like the way these hats be made because they make them so stiff in the top.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, and I'm sure that's for, you know, all of the little brandy. But yeah, I don't think they I don't like that. This one is not going to get worn often. Right. I just, you know, I just bought it. You know, okay, I got it. Yeah, y'all saw it. And then I got to move on because I don't like the way this hat is made. So

I'm going into my first commercial break, but I'm seeing y'all up right now. Of course, we are going to talk about the debate last night, what your takeaways were. Can we say there was a winner or was there a loser? Let me just say what's most important for me, though, right now. When I tell you, I don't know who by David Crawley close.

That would be so crisp clean on TV. I'm like, dude, Armani just called me like, hey, bro, we about to bring a shipload of suits up to the house. Pick which one you want. I'm telling you, this brother and that beautiful ski and all of it works on TV. And I know I'm going to get to the substantive stuff.

But if you think for five seconds visuals don't matter visuals matter and I just I couldn't help but laugh I started smiling as soon as the Cameras came up and the show was on I said you wearing well you wearing well He looks amazing, but we got to talk about content talk about substance. So let me do this. Am I ready to take my first break?

But get on the phone lines. Are we still telling them to call 444-5253? If you're trying that 5250, that one has been just dropping. Call 414-444-5253 to try to get in. We'll be right back. All right, family, welcome back to the show. Somebody let me say good morning to my folks on Facebook, YouTube. Obviously, you know, good morning to everybody that is.

listening on to Keith always says to resty or radio. Somebody said, nice to be Michelle. Yeah, I had a throwback moment, you know, since since the haters over at WISC and wanted to, you know, do the little fake story. You're talking about how she got suspended for supporting the way that Taylor like, you know, what did we have to tell you? So it looks so good. I had to bust it out again and I want to go on the record one more time.

She would have been an amazing mayor for the city of Milwaukee. So she would have kicked up all stuff. Let me do a throwback Thursday. Stay where the leader Taylor for mayor sweatshirt. All right. I know we got one caller on the line. Let me get them in real quick. Hey caller, what's happening? Good morning. Hey, so Lisa, how you doing this morning, sis? I'm doing well, Lisa said yesterday.

You know what? We're not buying your bootleg jerseys.

$10 each and you get a four five for the fourth one. Say what? $10 each. You buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three and you buy three

until you get all the letters coming letters is in brewers until you're sure I've got seven of the correct letters so please stop calling us we're not

We know it's at least seven letters and they must all be the correct letters in the correct order. In the correct order. You know what? Thank you for your call, Solis.

with this bootleg nonsense. And now she got a sewing machine. She's gonna be adding letters. See, this is why we can't advance as a people. Y'all play too much. Um, all right. Let's get into it. Uh, let me, Jamey. Clark's trying to get you attention. Um, Clark, you need a taller chair over there, man. Okay. Nobody see you.

Wait, wait, did he just say how Michelle, like, him not talking was my fault? It is. You say how to me.

Because she was busy raising him. I can't say hi. When I come back. Hey, how long? Hey, bring it down. Bring it down. OK. Bring it down. You got this in the mix. Come on. Clock that T. I love it. I love it. You know, let's just be like, folks go out there and get an argument, say the streets, and then we'll bring it home.

I don't know what happened out in the streets. Don't bring that up in this house. So, you know, if you want somebody to speak to you, then, you know, act like you got some sense. Hello, Mr. Ride Out. How are you this morning? Well, you know, I'm good. Keep going. He did all of that just so I could do that to him. Yeah. Could anybody let me know what the weather is going to be today? Because Jermaine said it's going to be 75. This kid's all got on a short set up in here. I'm trying to tell you. He got on a short set.

And some dookies up in the space. I ain't got all some dookies. These are George. That's one. That's dookies. Two. Two. Two. Uh, Mediologist Mane O'Candella, my source has told me it's gonna be in the 70s. I ain't saying nothing about that. I saw 67. So keep your eye on the screen. I'm looking. I'm looking. I'm looking. I'm looking. You know. Uh, because I want to know why you got a short set. Yeah. Mediologist Mane O'Candella. And I mean, he got off the truck this point. I was like...

Is he off today? Is he just here to open up the studio for us? What's going on? All right, so let's get let's get to it. Let's get to it. Last night. Oh, wait, let me start here. Early voting, early voting, early voting, early voting. All of the polls for those that can be trusted and or believed are saying

that the Wisconsin race is going to be a tight race. This is a purple state. We can rock either way, blue or red, depending on how folks are feeling about the issues, how well campaigns have been run. This can go either way. So turnout is going to be, if not the deciding factor, it certainly will be

You know, in the top three, I'm going to lean towards number one. Well, I don't know number two. I may lean towards number two and I'll tell you why. But turn out, turn out. Hey, I'm doing a show in here.

I was so I was so I was not working with black folks They outside like that the family reunion in the reception area and it is all being like cackling like chickens out there. I'm right. Hey, it's the show going up

It's a show Yes, yes, we do need to read this y'all said before my commercial break. I'm gonna get to that show said It don't say 75 70 today. What's today? Did they say 70? No, so I said 67 you said 75 so it's closer to what I said listen

But it's in the 70s. OK, I got time. I got time. So anyway, thank you. Exactly. And you see, you can tell when he was out in the studio because I was able to talk about the issue. He come back in and bring this hood foolishness with him and you can't do a show. So let me get back to what I would say. Turnout is going to be. King.

Well, when this is when this next commercial break come up, I'm gonna beat the break. We're gonna have a whole moment. Let me let me keep going. So. Oh, you just saw aggravated. You made me lose my train of thought. OK, so early voting has started and it runs through November 1st.

please take advantage of this opportunity. Everyone that we are talking to has talked about how brisk some of the polling locations have been. People are coming through. One sister yesterday was talking about when she went to go vote, she stood in line for an hour and that there were a few people that or someone that actually said to her, are you going to stay? You think about leaving? And she was like, of course I'm staying.

Of course, I'm staying like this is too important and to try and like come back and so it's that mentality that's going to get us, you know, the kind of turnout hopefully that we need and the engagement from voters that we need to get these people across the finish line. So I'm telling you right now.

If you have the opportunity, I would encourage you to go ahead and take advantage of early voting because these are votes we can go ahead and put in the back. It's that much less traffic on election day. These results can come in sooner because I remember when we were waiting on Lena's race for mayor, their results didn't come in with anybody else's results. So you were getting.

other things on the ballot in the city of Milwaukee, but the mayor's number stayed at zero percent for the longest. And I'm like, but if you count votes in the city of Milwaukee and you know, it's 20% here and how are there no percentages for the mayor's votes? It went from zero.

to basically calling the race just like that. There was never any buildup on the screen where you were seeing where the numbers were coming in. And that was in that time, Barrett race, when it was 0%. But anyway, I digress. Early voting, early voting, early voting. If you get to those referendum questions, I need you to understand from Michelle Bryant that those answers, hopefully, are no.

No on the veto power being taken or impacted that the governor currently has. No on the government, the church having more power than the state to be able for them to be able to stay open. They don't have access to all of the emergency information, the medical information, the research, the scientists, they don't have that.

And I appreciate that Jesus is all, no, I get all of that. I do. But Jesus also put all these other people in place too, to help inform in God. And then the last one, no on what sounds good, non-discrimination. It is an attack on diversity, equity, and inclusion. And it will severely hurt, not impact, hurt black communities, people of color in general, women,

It is a no all through those reference questions. Yes. Yes. I got a call yesterday from somebody that went to vote early. OK. And those are the three questions, right? Yeah. Glad you're talking about it. They called me and said that they was there to vote and was unsure. So they voted yes. And then they called me afterwards and was like, wait a minute. Is that what you guys was talking about when they started talking?

And I said, yeah, that's it. They said, oh, I voted wrong because I didn't understand it. So they see the questions. Yeah. Because of how questions is worthy. You know, they talk about and I'll and I'll pull them up. I'll get the questions pulled up. But we have and I mean this. I don't care who it is, you know, because people will assume because of either your socioeconomic status, your education, your this, your that everybody been misunderstanding the questions.

Yeah, everybody. Yeah, regardless of education, income, you know, social status, all of the stuff, everybody, everybody been misunderstanding those questions. So the simplest thing is no, no, no, no, no. That's that's the simplest thing on those questions, but I will I will walk through them and break them down. The other thing I want to just take a quick second before we talk about this debate is.

I was listening to Keith show yesterday and Andrew Ward, Dr. Ward called in and he talked about being careful when you go to the polling location because there was another David on the ballot. And I was like, what are you talking about? And so I kind of blew it off and I went on to do what I had to do.

Because I had already voted and I know I didn't see another David on the ballot and Last night as I was getting ready to go to bed a commercial came on Say, you know, it was talking about what we need We don't need to be connected to either party You know, we need a governor that's gonna do this do this and this and I was like But you never saw exactly who the candidate was you just saw all these crowd shots and farms and you know

lead heavy towards white people, but it was a few black folks sprinkled through it. And I was like, what is this mess? And then I looked down at the bottom and it said, pay for by King for governor. And I was like, and it was a Wisconsin governor's commercial. I was like, King for governor. Who is this? And then it dawned on me. David King. David King ran as an independent. David King is a Republican.

He ran as an independent in this race. He was unsuccessful in terms of getting the votes needed to get his name on the ballot for the, um, you know, to make it into the general. So he has launched a writing campaign. And, um, you know, you can declare that you want to be a writing candidate.

I think like up until the 30th of this month or something like that. So he launched a writing campaign. So that's why when I saw this commercial, but the funny thing about David King, he didn't show his own damn face in that whole commercial because he knew white folks weren't going to vote for him. So that part was hilarious. Or at least that's what he believed because it wasn't in there. But David King's name does not appear on the ballot. You have to write it in.

So, I don't know what, and if maybe I misunderstood Dr. Ward when he was talking, but I'm like, no, there is no confusion. There is only one David that's actually on the ballot when you start marking names for governor. You have to write in David, David, David King's name.

I mean, I was on the phone 1139 last night trying to make sure I had all of this correct and together. There is no two day that's on the ballot. There's only one. And you have to write that name in. Do you take my break right now? Let me go to break. I'll be right back. All right. So, uh, debate, debate, debate, debate, debate.

Interested in your perspectives, your takes. Let me be candid. So yesterday we did a watch party and thank you to everyone that came. We were at capacity.

Yeah, it was that part was cool. We had a issue because we were running it on a screen and on the television and the way the feet was working. The screen was delayed. The television part was delayed. So we had to watch on the screen. The screen wasn't the greatest in terms of visibility. So we had to turn the lights out. So it looked like we was having a camp out because we had to have a dark enough in here so you could see the screen.

But everybody was killed. You know, everybody was cool. You know, we got through it. We fed folks. So that made it, you know, better. I saw listeners to this station that came through. When I tell you, I love seeing Teresa beaming down here, but when we're just seeing her come through here getting long, long, long, long. But I saw a number of listeners to the show and.

You know, I listened to the crowd response, but I was working the event. So I'm watching bits and pieces of the debate. I'm registering people, checking people in, working a door, because some people, because it was at the Brown Deer Clubhouse, people went to the Brown Deer Boathouse. So, and it was kind of dark out there in the area where we were about a golf course. So just making sure people could get in. So I didn't watch the debate straight through uninterrupted.

I was watching bits and pieces of it. I have to sit down today or tomorrow and watch the debate all the way through because I didn't do that. But the things that I did see, the give and take, the questions being answered, I do have some thoughts on that. One of the things that I will start with, and I know we I think we got a call on the line, so I'll get to the caller. I'm going to be clear.

I am not a fan of the moderators used by WISN. Let me tell you what I mean. And I just hang on one second. The moderator Matt Smith.

who is a 12 news political director. He be doing way too much when he moderates. He comes across like a young guy. Trying to make a name for himself. He frequently cuts people off. And, you know,

It it's almost argumentative or it's it feels uncomfortable and I'm saying this as somebody who interviews people and How you have to transition you watching the clock I get all of the technical things that have to go on because this is a one-hour Debate you want these people to answer the questions. So I'm not naive to the goal of why he's sitting there but literally

The first text message that came to my phone was is it me? I Knew instantly what they were talking about Then there were people in the room who said to me Will you think about the way Matt in particular was handling David quality and People were uncomfortable with it

They were also uncomfortable with the way Tiffany was handling Garen Jordan. Because he's seen dismissive to Garen. In some cases, it seemed like he wasn't even trying to answer the questions. He was just going to say whatever he wanted to say. And then people wondered about the dynamics.

Is Matt only going to ask DC questions? Is Garen only going to ask Tiffany questions? You know, are we worried about the race dynamics? I mean, like it was a lot going on before you could even get to the content and the substance. And I watched Matt do a debate before and I walked away like, I ain't like it. Didn't didn't really feel good about it. And it's style. It's not substance.

style. And there's a way to do this so it doesn't feel like David is not only debating Tiffany, he debating you too. You are not supposed to be the center of this discussion. You guide it.

You get these questions out, you keep people on track, but at times it was like David was debating Matt Smith. And it made a lot of people, it gave you like that funny feeling. When you don't know, you can't put a name on it, but it doesn't feel comfortable. It feels off. I'm interested to know if anyone else thought that.

Somebody, North South, you just be on BS all day. I just, they never happy. I was not impressed with either moderator nor either of the candidates. Crawley got out, maneuvered on several key questions, but Crawley has two answers that got my vote. Well, tell me what they are. Crawley had two answers that got my vote. Tell me what they were. I want to know. Someone said, I'm not a fan of only one debate. Somebody, yeah, that whole thing about candidates only doing one debate, that's garbage.

But we allow that as tax, as people, as voters, because then we should tell them that we're not voting for neither one of y'all. We're not voting for neither one of y'all. Yep. So I'm trying to see if anybody else had comments. Let me go to the phone line and get them in. Hey, caller, what's happening? Good morning, Ms. Bryant. Hey, good morning. Yes, sir. Sorry about the whole time. Oh, you didn't hang up on me.

Um, I wanted to say about, uh, brother, David Crowley, I watched it. I, uh, I fell asleep for a little while and then I woke up and then I turned on the TV and I was like, oh, and I saw David Crowley talking to that male with the pointy ears and that pointy nose, looking like a demon. And I think David Crowley did a superb job from, from my perspective. He was articulate. He, uh, spoke clearly.

He referred to that man. He looked at that man and directly and asserted himself. He looked as far as I'm concerned. He looked presidential. He looked diplomatic. He was poised. He was ready. He was clear, concise, and he had my vote from day one. And that is because he's black. He's smart. You know what obsessed me the most is that I did, because I've experienced this in my profession.

The first thing that a Caucasian person would do, especially when it comes to a black man, and now it's something to do with the level of intellect, is they're going to attack your level of intelligence. They're going to call you incompetent, and they're going to use that word and beat that word to death. Yes, and that's the call word for that's a nigger.

You don't want a dumb nigger in charge of your business affairs because you're inherently incompetent. This was said about me when I worked for this company some years ago and I filed a suit against them, but then I just said, I'm going to let it go because I know that I'm not incompetent. I know that I'm capable. And so do my professors, those people, whoever they taught me. But anyway, all I want to say is that David Crowley, brother, if you hear me, I think you did an excellent job. You should be smiling.

And get him crack a day with no smile off your face because we got your back. Thank you, sir. Appreciate the call. Somebody said, did Mr. Crawley solicit your help for debate prep? Michelle? No, he did not. I don't work for David Crawley's campaign. I don't have anything to do with David Crawley's campaign. You know, I think that you could tell.

You can there's certain aspects of debate prep you can tell like somebody talked with David and David decided Say Tom Tiffany's name 9,000 times because he said because Tom Tiffany top Tiffany. He said it not that's a strategy Yeah, cuz I was gonna say the way you say a person's name is direct. So now is

Direct to you and it's mean but even the whole use of the name because there were many times Tom Tiffany simply referred to David as David and he and how David did he use this whole government name? So now it's personal Tom Tiffany Tom Tiffany. So now every time I say it No, it's not so it's not personal. No, it's business. It's I'm connecting you to policy put that hope like when Tom Tiffany was saying David, that was more personalized and intimate. So

you know, it's conversational. Right. David kept it at, no, this business. Right. And I'm tying your name to all of these, your entire name. And I'm tying them to all of these policies. Right. Because if I call you on the first name basis, that's personal. Yes. Personal, intimate. You know, and so in, so DC, you can, I could tell like the areas where there had been coaching done. And

Some people said that they believe that he started off kind of shaky and he built up from there. And then you see him hit his stride and level of confidence in his delivery. I would tell anybody that it is hard not to be nervous when you are giving a prime time speech that literally can help decide and sway.

people that sitting on the fence and literally change your life, your family's life, change this state. I don't know how you come into that and not be a little nervous that you got all of this riding on this one hour.

that you were getting ready to be on television. So that was one of the things that stood out for a lot of people is they felt, you know, he kind of got off to a slow start or, you know, he seemed a little unsteady. But you could tell when he definitely had found that comfort zone in that sweet spot in terms of his delivery, the one thing he knew was information and he knew was facts. He definitely did that.

There were got your moments. There were times when, you know, just get an answer, bro. Don't don't have dance. Just get an answer. Tom Tiffany, you know, when he tried to talk about, you know, pay attention to what I'm going to do for Wisconsin, he tried to separate himself from from Donald Trump and David just kept dragging him. You voted with him 100 percent of the time.

Oh, no, you show you certainly are his water boy. Like David wouldn't let him tether that that that wrote to Donald Trump. I mean, he hammered it. He hammered it. He hammered it. And so that part of the coaching was was was wonderful. Or, you know, just David style on his own. Jay, you want to say something? Yeah, I was going to say, man, I think that they should do three debates and, you know, keep the score because I mean, because you get it. It was almost like if you go back to the Obama.

run. Obama had a horrible performance in one of his first debates. He did not do it. But because he got to do it again, yeah, you get a different. And so, you know, this wasn't about ability. It was about all of the other, you know, external stuff that's going on that you got to get up and give give give these remarks.

So I will talk about a couple of key points for me. I gotta take another break, but I do want to hear from you guys. What did you think about the debate? A pass fail. Did it change anybody's mind? Did it move anybody? Did the issues that you care about get addressed? I'll talk about what I heard. Be right back.

All right, family. So I just got my phone off the charger. So I apologize. People have been sending me messages and I hadn't seen them. Somebody said in relationship to the moderator, Matt even tried to discredit David by saying when David said that Tiffany had voted with Trump 100% of the time, Matt corrected David and said 99% of the time. Really? Really? Really?

So for me, a couple of key things. The whole certification of the election. And when David said that Tiffany, you know, was willing to let that that election not be certified. And when Tiffany was pressed about like, so why? You know.

Why why were you you willing to go along with this nonsense? And Tiffany, you know, he squirmed. He tried to, you know, get the heat off him for a second. And then he said, you know, because of the money, the money in campaigns talking about Mark Zuckerberg. And the thing that was funny was I was like, I know, Dan, well, you ain't talking about no money. And you got three million multi-millionaires.

who just gave you between twenty-two and twenty-four million dollars by making a donation to the I mean the Republican Party and then them transferring that money to your campaign. Literally three families, three people responsible for more money. And they wonder, you know, whatever you do to decide, I don't know how you you transfer twenty.

$2 million to a campaign. But I know you're not talking about money and politics. And DC handled him on like, stop playing with these people. That had nothing to do with why you were willing to try to thwart the certification process in the state of Wisconsin. So that stood out for me. Because do I trust Tom Tiffany to be able to certify an election for us? I do not.

I do not. I don't care what he say. Everybody say one thing. You know, what did all the Supreme Court candidates say? So and so is decided law. This is decided law. I'm not going to be looking at that. And then when you had the opportunity to overturn it, it's the first thing you did. All of a sudden decided law and precedent meant nothing. I don't trust nothing that come out of these people's mouths. Zero. Another thing.

that was interesting to me was when, like the caller, I appreciated David's comments on voucher systems. It was not a popular one. Even though he said, you know, I got three kids in public schools that were educated in public schools. I believe we're supposed to strengthen them. I believe we, you don't have to fund them properly, but to give credence to the fact that you got 37,000 kids in choice

about your schools. If you try to instantly bring those children back to Milwaukee public schools, that is problematic because you don't have enough teachers sometimes for the kids we currently have. That's number one. We recruit over Illinois trying to get folks to work. And then number two, these systems are already in play. You don't just get to quickly dismantle them and make them go away. You throw families and children into upheaval. So.

whatever you do, it has to be methodical and systematic. And I appreciated him to be willing to be candid about that conversation. Not a popular thing to say. Because there were some people that wanted him to say, point blank, full stop. I'm getting rid of all choice in voucher schools. You can't do that.

I respect the legislators who understand that we have multiple systems of educating children in the system. And until we can figure some of this out, you don't get to destroy a system and not have something else in place. But do we expand it? No, we do not. Do we change income limits? You know, when Polly Williams and those folks sat down to create this program, at least from Polly, her intent was never that middle class, upper middle class,

folks will be able to benefit from these programs by way of not having to pay for their kids tuition and having the public taxpayer pay for your child to go to a private school situation. She never intended that. So I appreciated that. The question on the DSA, Democratic Socialist of America platform. Now, it was many people that got frustrated with David when David said, well, I don't really know a platform.

And they tried to back them up like, but you said there wasn't much difference between you and Francesca Hong in some of your policies. That's true. They were talking about a lot of the same things. So the things that they were talking about that were similar. Why would he know if they were DSA policies and the agenda? Everything that Francesca talked about.

May not have been a DSA Democratic Socialists of America policy or agenda item This woman is a legislator She's a Democratic legislator. I'm sure there were many places that her and David were in alignment So it wasn't a gotcha moment for me and they kind of tried to treat it like it was I don't know what the hell Democratic Socialists of America say I'm telling you that I don't know

I don't know what they platform is. I've never looked it up. But is there a likelihood that we got some similarities? Of course there is, because we come from the same foundation, even if they take it further than traditional Democrats do, but we come from the same foundation. So that's like having the AKA Delta conversation. You know, AKA started Delta shoots up.

out of, you know, members leaving A.K.A. and becoming Delta Sigma Theta. We share some of the same founders. We come up out of the same spirit of work, you know, or intent. So, but, but I don't know what's in the A.K.A., you know, handbook. I'm never aware they, they, they, what guides them, but they're going to be similarities because

Some of the same women had the vision for both of these organizations. So that was not a gotcha moment. And for people who thought it was, I'm like, shame on you. Because if you understand how this stuff works, they definitely are going to have some things that are in line with the Democratic Party. And I'm looking at David like, man, answer that question and stand ten toes down.

When he said I don't know what's on the agenda, but then take a step further to help people understand why you don't know what's on the agenda, but this woman and I have served together and We and I don't even know that timeframe between when he was in and she was there or when he was there and she was in but The likelihood is great that they were in lockstep on a number of policies. I'm not running from that. She's a damn Democrat

Let me go to the phone line. Hey, Caller, what's happening? Good morning, Michelle. Good morning. First thing I want to say, overall, I saw David still hit ground there. And you know something? I really respect the way he said, I'm not a doctor. The way he said, I'm fine. It's hard to hear you. You got us on speaker.

Let me turn the radio back. Okay. The way kidney act like these are doctors being five months in that case. That's the thing. Now, I've known some women that they knew that their baby was not going to make it. The baby was dead and the doctor wanted her to take this all the way to the ninth month. And other doctors were saying,

In some cases, that's not helpful. Right. Because the doctor can get into the body and I'm not a doctor. Somebody else can call in on that. But number one, I like the way he stood in his head and said, you didn't answer the question. He did answer. It's between a patient and the doctor. Not somebody that don't have a medical degree and almost didn't make it to college. Okay. So I'm just saying him and Tiffany,

I thought he did a good job. But you know, it's one thing about this school choice that I don't like and they need to look into it. Those schools will keep you for, I think it's a month and they'll weed out the ones that they know don't fit their programs and their behavior. It's not conducive to their environment. I'm losing. I already know. Come to our school at any time and those kids are passing.

to go to other classes or go to lunch, you can hear a pin drop. Go to some other places and it's like you don't know where is the orange. If those kids do not stay here for the first semester, send that money back to Milwaukee Public School budget. It should come back to us. You should not get to keep that money and they need to change that. Thank you. All right. Thank you. I appreciate the call.

We good on calls. Okay. All right. So. I agree with the caller. The abortion question stood out. I think that David. Kind of struggled a bit with that question. I think I like that he pivoted away to provide an example when that was pressing him.

on, you know, what he would sign as the governor, you know, if it came before his desk. And at one point, David said, well, I don't ever think it's going to come before my desk, you know, certain types of abortions. But which is the no gestational limits so that you could abort this child or this fetus literally up to, you know, nine months because of whatever was going on.

And David gave the example of a woman who had been told that the child that she was carrying had no liver. And that there was no way for this child to survive once this child was born. The child had no liver. And, you know, what medical decisions needed to be made between her and her doctor? I like that he kept pivoting to that this is a decision that needs to be made between her and her doctor. But I'm going to just tell you.

While I appreciated the abortion question, you know as somebody interested in protecting women's autonomy over their body and the ability to make decisions In a way that men aren't forced to have to come get somebody's permission to make decisions about what they do Some of the questions about affordability about housing about health insurance, you know, I'm wondering

What are the things that are driving people right now? I don't know that abortion was the issue that's driving people right now. When I rolled down the street today and I saw that the same gas station that I passed yesterday had gas for $4.07. This morning was $4.59. I'm trying to understand what's going on. It's the same gas station in less than 24 hours.

Let me check a break. I'll be right back. All right, family. Welcome back to the show. Got a caller. Let me just flag this real quick. So folks are talking about what's going on down in Middle Tennessee. Dolly Parton's sister has come out and said that when she went to vote that she noticed that her selections had been changed.

when she went to vote, she noticed that her selections had been changed. And so other voters were reporting similar situations in some of these Middle Tennessee locations. Do I have a report? Yeah, let me let me plug this up and I'm going to play it directly. Call it. Give me one second. I'm coming because then I'm making a point for Milwaukee. So

Hang on. And the flag that has been flagged now, so people can be aware of that stuff. Yes, because... Is it? Hang on. Is it plugged on there? Yep, I'm trying to pull a story. Okay, so while I'm working on that... Here we... Oh, no, no, no. Okay.

I'll get it pulled up. But so yes, I just want people to understand that when you run your ballot through the machine in early voting, they are going to give you. I mean, once that ballot comes back out of the machine, they're going to ask you to review your ballot. Make sure that everything on there looks OK. And.

Then you fold that ballot, you put it in the envelope, you take it up to that last stage, last station, then they seal it, they sign it, we good to go. Some people have not taken the time to thoroughly look at that ballot and make sure that what you selected on that computer screen is showing up on that little white ticket, that ballot, when you get ready to turn it in. This is not new, though.

Back in 2016, there were people reporting in places like some cities in Texas that ballots were flipping, but it was Republicans who said that their ballots were being flipped to Democrats. They found out that some of the machines were malfunctioning. The NAACP even got involved in Texas. So I'm just going to tell people

Number one, this is not new. We've seen it before. That's why being diligent while you are in those polling locations from from the beginning of the process until they give you your little sticker and you walk out the door. Pay attention to everything that's going on. Look honestly at that ballot. Don't just look and say, OK, they're going to vote for governor and so we must be good. Go all the way down that ballot.

on those referendum questions, go all the way down that ballot and make sure that everything you intended to vote for is showing up on that ballot before you hand it, put it in that envelope and hand it to the folks on the last station. Let me go to the phone line. Hey, Carla, what's happening? Oh, hello, Michelle. Hi. Okay, let me get your speaker. Hey, Michelle, happy Thanksgiving. Can you hear me? Yes, I can.

And happy Thursday to you, too. Mr. Crawley wants Mr. Crawley Williams and he taps you on the shoulder to be a part of his cabinet. Will you accept? Yeah, no. No position DT at nothing. Let me be clear. Well, certainly, um,

I don't have a problem, you know, working in Madison. But there are some things that we are getting ready to face as a community that you need some voices that can be on this end to press the needle. What we're getting ready to go into, into the 2028 elections. If I can, if I can say this in a way that does not sound arrogant or, you know, just, just I'm fooling myself.

You gonna need some strong voices on this side that can call stuff out that if I worked in an administration, I would have some restrictions on me. Because number one, when I worked for Lena, I had a real short, I mean, a real long leash. Lena, let me do this show. I said what I wanted to, you know, I was able to work.

But if you, other people won't always, you know, they're worried about what you say, when you say it, how you say it. And so, yeah. And then, you know, freedom. Right. I couldn't necessarily go full force on Republicans the way I may need to on issues. So while I would be, um, I would be, uh, flattered, um, on one hand, but Dan, make no mistake, qualified on the other to get any of these jobs.

I understand that we need strong voices on these mics, given our community information and helping to push people, you know, to be engaged and to pay attention. So thank you for actually referencing that. And trust me, a lot of them wouldn't choose me anyway because of how I am. Another question, Michelle. Yes, ma'am. You know how Trump has the House and the Senate once Mr. Crowley wins.

Do we have to worry about that in in Madison or will it be he'll be able to give back to Milwaukee County since he's from Milwaukee and all the things that we're looking for? Or will he be like a lame debt governor? Wait, so they say ask the question again. Will he have power? Like how Trump has it with the Senate in the house once he wins or does it not work that way for a governorship here?

So if you have to worry about a house in the Senate for Wisconsin, or if you want to try to pass something, he got their support or does he have opposition once he wins? It's a mixed bag. Tony Evers actually worked with Republicans alone in some cases to get legislation through that necessarily Democrats didn't agree with or got on board with. So you got some flexibility depending on what it is you're pushing, but it definitely helps when

the majority of the assembly or the majority of the Senate is from your own party. It makes life a lot easier. The other thing now or no. So like right now, it's a divided situation. The Republicans control the assembly and the Senate. And, you know, so, but.

it's all a lot of these races are in play all 99 assembly seats are in play and I think 16 or 17 state senate seats are in play so they are their democrats who are honestly believing we may flip one of those houses at the state level and if we do that's a game changer in and of itself

Thank you, Michelle. I'm still trying to figure out how I can make some money from this world series. You were supposed to answer me yesterday. You know what? I'm going to get on it. I'm going to get on it. I'm going to get on it. Thank you. Thank you. Just don't hook up with Solis. Just don't hook up with Solis. But I'm going to get on it. All right. Thank you. I appreciate the call. Let me take a break, and I'll be right back.

Alright family, welcome back to the show trying to get folks to weigh in. What did you think about the David Crawley Tom Tiffany performance last night debate last night? I haven't overall just, you know, lay down if you will a general grade. But what I will say is this, I think that David was spot on on many of his answers. I think that.

the middle and the end of his performance was very strong. Somebody said the closing statement that Tom gave was incompetent to the question. That's my opinion. Oh, oh, oh, baby. Oh, baby. Margaret Davis, you reminded me because, see, I didn't make notes to have a conversation this morning. I'm just free balling. But you reminded me.

and I said it when it happened. When Tom Tiffany was involved in that plane crash and he was in that water and they had to swim eventually to safety whatever until the little people got to him. I said, this is going to make its way into the governor's race and right on cue.

I was in the water for 16 minutes. I said, Q to violence. Try to elicit the sympathy votes yet play on people's emotions and hard strings. Q to violence. That's what you talk about when you don't have no damn policies. That's what you do.

When you can't defend what you've connected and attached yourself to Matt whether it's 99% or 100% of the time So you got to make people feel sorry for you. Oh I was in the water for and then his voice got all low and you know And you're 16 minutes and I'm gonna tell you People wasn't trying to hear where I was at

I think I heard booms like people was not trying to hear it because everybody understood what was happening You're using that and I but I mean I'm mad because I knew you was gonna do it, but do it early You know come out and say hey, so for folks that didn't know how strong I am Yeah, I swam the freedom. You know, I got I mean

But do it in a way that's avert. Don't do it in his backhand is slimy. Feel sorry for me. You know, I almost died. Like this ain't, this ain't that kind of society. These are some heartless, ruthless people out here. They don't care. They don't care. They, you know, I'm not saying I don't care, but they don't care.

They didn't care about your 16 minutes, and I kept going 16 minutes, 16 minutes, on and on. I'm making up a whole song to it. Literally in my head, I was making up a song as soon as he started saying it. But I knew he was going to use it. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. Margaret Davis, thank you for saying that in the chat. Child, you reminded me. I forgot all about that. Let me go to the phone line. Hey, Carl, what's happening?

Well, good morning with Michelle Bryant. What's going on, JT? How you doing this morning, sir? I am doing excellent, and thank you so very much for asking and how about yourself? I'm hanging in here, hanging in here. And good morning to my other favorite people in the studio. Good morning, gentlemen. JTISL. Really?

Hey, Michelle, we got a homeworld fest going on up here. Sean Teaser. Sean Teaser. Michelle, before I give a comment about that debate, you'll have to meddle with Mr. Jermaine right off for a second. Uh-oh, what do I do? Hey, Jermaine. Yes, sir. That short set that you're supporting today.

Your shorts don't have a crease in it.

No creases, man. I don't do the creases. And it's not right in the book.

Yeah, get back to the debate.

David Crotty was very poised and very cool, common collective. Now, I could only stand about 20 minutes of the debate when I saw that one particular moderator was going after David Crotty like he was part of the debate instead of Tim Tom Tiffany. I've let you was talking about earlier this morning. Yeah, he was going after David Crotty like he was part of the debate instead of Tom Tiffany.

and uh so i thought that was kind of like i thought that was going to happen anyway because that's how they are i can only spend about 20 minutes of the debate but what he was saying just a few minutes ago about him crashing to that plane and trying to get destiny's votes hey why not donald trump did it let me somebody try to shoot him in his ear right as now people believe it was all set up but anyway go ahead yeah of course yeah well we know that was that was that was phony but anyway

That's right. Hey, Donald Trump and Dwarf, why not me? Fair enough. All right, JT, your first thing. Hey, thank you. I'll take care of it now. All right. I just want you to know somebody put on here Hootie Daddy Shorts. Hoja May. Hootie Hootie Hootie Daddy! Yeah, guys, hi. Jesus God.

Tom Brown. Oh my god. You know, I just want to be clear. These are some of the dirtiest people to work with. They will talk about anybody up in here. Yesterday Doug came in here with a track suit on.

And it took a minute. It took a minute. The Doug, Doug is our, our VP of, of, of advertising or whatever. And he had all the tracks too. And she may have seen two stripes. It looks like two stripes. And you know, but I'm not looking at them. So I had to get up here. I said, who's talking about Debo? You're not going to Debo first. He's like, no, not Debo.

Well, let me go look and see what Doug got out. I literally got off the air. So I could go and see what Doug had out. And Doug had one of his little, you know, casual joggers suits. And then I said, ah, it only got two stripes. One, two, two. And so we said something to Doug about it.

And Doug, who was of a different, you know, generational swag, Doug is more slacks kind of guy. He's not he's not really a casual gear guy. He's a he's a slacks and nice shirt. You know, he's a dressier kind of dude. So, you know, him wearing a jogging suit is, you know, not as usual. So Doug said, which I think about this is real. And.

We were like, no, because you missed it. You missed the strike. And Doug, Doug, he counted him. He said one, two. It was like, it was like, two. It was like, you missed the strike man.

Oh, yeah, they're down. So, you know, he knows you're talking about it right now. That old baseball star. There's one, two, three strikes you're out. There's more like one, two, two, two. Wait, is he mad? Is he mad?

Okay, okay, okay, that's up my axis, but I didn't it took a it took a second. Listen, I was like, uh, you said my and it's just some of y'all at home going, I don't get the joke. Oh, the third stripe is the idea to strike. Yeah. Hey, yeah, too.

Strikes is almost like a

All right, folks, welcome back to the show. Just want to take a second to remind people that if you are interested in joining the NAACP in order to be able to vote in their upcoming election, which is happening on November 21st, today is the last day to join the NAACP and be a paid member 30 days before the election. This is shaping up to be quite an interesting election. And I'm just going to say this.

It's a lot of stake. And I'll leave it there. It's a lot of stake. Let me go to the phone line. Hey, caller. What's happening? Good morning. Good morning. How are you doing today, sir? I'm doing great. Doing great. Hey, it feels good to be able to talk to you guys because up in poor Washington, we don't get the signal unless we use our phones, which is illegal.

when we're working on that job site. I have a couple of comments. And Channel 12 moderator knew that their side of this Republican fight is very weak. His thoughts are scripted and weak coming out of a Donald Trump playbook. He should be in NFL, but that's another story.

He has to make David Crowley look kind of weak, but he can't. The young man is so articulate. He chooses his words as he goes on and he's very well spoken. The few minutes that I watched it, I would say 15 to 20 minutes, I was impressed at the way he was holding his ground. It really was. And I think that

If we can get Barack Obama, Mrs. Kamala Harris, and others to come into our city to help motivate us, we should pay homage and get up off where we need to get up on the floor and go and vote. I understand. We need to show that we got at least 15 minutes of training thought to do us right for once.

We are in a fight of our lives right now. And I wish that other radio stations in our community that most people listen to in between the bumping and the bopping and all of that. Let's push this vote. We got a matter of days now. That's it. A matter of days. All right. Thank you, Brad. You keep up your work.

Thank you. Your work. Thank you. Love you all. Love you back, man. Who you with? Who you with? Yes, sir. I love you all. All right. Love you, too, bro. All right. Bye, y'all. All right.

All right, so we got to get out of here. This is my last day for the week. Please, please, please, if you can, go ahead and knock out early voting. We got a few days left to get this done, and we want to make sure that nobody is sitting at the house like, man, it got away from you. I've heard that before. There's no excuse. We can figure it out. That's the show for this week. I will talk to y'all next week. You want to say something? Yeah, that's right. You see on the milk cart box.

Please return it to the station. It belongs to them. Okay. That's right. That's on that milk cart box that you just seen this morning. Please bring it to the station. Thank you. Goodbye.
