Mandela Barnes’ Campaign Shakeup: Wisconsin Politics Unveiled

Good morning. Good morning. What's happening Sam? We welcome to the show. It is Michelle and Brian here. And I just want to say it's going to be a rough ride this week. Oh my God. With houses and the house that we are in now, we're closer to the water. The reception here is awful.

And so I'm not sure that I'm even going to be able to do my show for the remainder of the week. I'm going to find, see if I can find a location on the island that has better internet access and folks who typically were listening on YouTube, Facebook. You won't be able to see me today because my connection keeps dropping. In most case, I'll have folks cover for me for the remainder of the week.

So I'm just going to put that out there right away because I know the folks will be trying to check in on YouTube and Facebook. And before y'all text me, it'd be like, did they fire you? This is what's happening. So let me take a word to the brothers in the building Clark Kent. Where's that?

Who you with? Man, I was somebody who got into that service. I know that. When he told me that, I'm like, oh, Lord, here we go. Yeah, man. I'll be the last. I'll be the last. We just roll right through. Right. We moved, changed our house on Saturday. Man, this joint. Oh my God. Wow. I haven't even been able to hardly use my phone since I've been here. So it's a miracle I've been able to even use my phone.

Uh, if you got anything going on with your killer here, there is no carrier service on the island. You have to leave the island and go to the mainland to do anything with your fault. Wow. Yeah. You got to ride a ferry and go back in the town. I'm like, come on, man. But how are you doing? You good? I'm good. I'm good. You know, I'm a little tired, but I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. You stay out the streets for a little time. Hey, it ain't working too much. You're working?

You know people keep calling me so I keep doing it but I get a chance to rest this week so. Oh for real? You gonna take it easy? Yes I am. Look don't say it loud somebody might hear you like that. I could finally get him. How are you doing though? I'm good, I'm good.

Um, but you know what? I was going to ask you something. So it's the sister that's here with us in martin's junior and was telling me about this, uh, lady that has a food truck, uh, where she just baked, uh, she bakes, uh, sweets. And, um, she does like these specialty desserts by, but I kind of remember the name of the truck, but I was like, I got to ask Cropley, he know about the sister because he'll post and say like, I'm going to be over on. Oh yeah.

Me and Deebo seen her, uh, she had a line. We, I think that's what I was doing. So that line is ridiculous. She was on Burlite and me and Deebo, we were like, man, what is dancing? Whatever it is, they're waiting. Yeah. Like, evidently it's been going on for a while. I'm like, nah, I slept on this whole little movement. Let me tap in with Clark, but I'm going to get the name of her business because

she does like the specialty you know desserts but she got like this bucket of like banana puddings and strawberry like kind of flavor but it's crazy you know what I want is is that the same lady that was at Michelle picnic because she had a little she had like cuffs of banana pudding and uh strawberry shortcake I mean

A lot of good stuff. Everybody can talk about how good it was. How good it was. Well, I want to get on, because I know that, like I said, I'm going to ask your sister to stay in with us and ask her, because she was just like, look at this. She showed me the video from yesterday. Or she showed it from yesterday. I think it was from Saturday. Like, look at this line there. Yeah. And people follow this girl all over the city, you know, out the book field. I'm like, what?

That line was crazy. It was crazy. And all she do is post and say, I'm gonna be here. And then, you know, you'll see what she posts. So without y'all, everything is gone. I'm like, let me ask Clark, who is this sister? I got to interview her.

is like it's like a regular size church but when they got like crazy attendance they put chairs all the way around the church is a circular church so like they're in around so they put chairs outside all the way around then they got benches man people were sitting outside like they was in the building wow i was one of them

And they they had the speakers and everything or so you can hear the service and then we could watch it on our cell phone. Oh, wow. When I tell you you could never maybe believe you see black folks sitting outside at church service. Wow. Just they came outside with the offering basket. Wasn't gonna miss no money. Came outside with the offering basket.

But you know, black people was playing when it was playing and we was talking. This is why, ladies, she was like, hey. They're praying. The pastor told us to take our neighbor's hand. I didn't touch a new woman. New. And so, I did something. It's the sister from Indianapolis, the sister from Baltimore, and the sister from Jersey.

We all look down at the white lady like ma'am. You are interrupting our conversation for this prayer. Strong black women are talking right now? No, no, because she looked back down the aisle like if y'all don't get your hands up in these prayers right now. Yeah, she was hoping to do that.

So we was like, yes ma'am. Come on in here now. Yeah, yeah. Nah, we went, we went no strong sister yesterday. We got checked. We pulled the elder card. Yeah, yeah. Nah, she pulled the elder card on us and put that little hand out there. Man, we all got the locked in arms. Like we was about to get a civil rights march. We shall overcome.

So it was good, but I am gonna get a rubber mask. I heard it before. It's a good sermon, but I'm like, okay now. But you know, I just gotta say this. I can't leave town for five minutes.

Hey y'all my star cutting up in Wisconsin While I was at church the Wisconsin governor's race talk of the town Can you see every day? Yeah, yeah, okay. We do that. Okay good. Okay, perfect But yeah, the Wisconsin governor's race was the talk of the town yesterday Wow

What happened? Yeah, I don't know what happened. Was Mandela getting out of the ring? Oh, yeah, I saw that. Now, do you think that that would help David Crawley? Yeah, DC gonna pick up some of Mandela's supporters if they hadn't early voted already. But Francesca gonna pick them up.

You know, so the other candidates in the Marquette Parle of the people that they, when they did that poll, they said like they asked people to watch their first choice, watch their second choice. For the people that 30% of them said that Francesca would have been their second choice. That was, you know, like kind of Rod Mandela.

Or like, like if people have run for DC, there will be a second choice. So yeah, she still does well with people that may have even supported him. That's still just hanging out there. So it's going to be interesting to see what happens because I think 30, 40% of people even in that poll still undecided. Everybody, I heard it was on Roland Martin.

It's been on national news. What in the world is going on in Wisconsin? I was watching the social media. And, you know, let me just start here. First of all, early voting is going on. People, if you have not done it yet, please consider to go early vote. You can do it until Sunday, August 9th. And

Right now, when we are looking at our daily tolls, so far, I think about $3,000, and let me see if I can pull it up. Where's my number? 3,187 people have voted as of August 2nd. And let me just tap in and check. Jake, can you still hear me? Yes, ma'am. OK, cool. Because right now, I need to get a little bit of a feedback. And if I don't hear it, then I'm like,

nervous that I'm not so on, but okay, let me just roll through this. So as of August 2nd, 3,187 folks had cast ballots. This is in-person early voting. 132 registrations, 225 drop-offs from the Seminoza Maryland ballots that people just ended up dropping off instead. Remember, we got the six locations open. So I had been paying attention to kind of see what the numbers were going to be.

at some of the different voting locations. And Midtown continues to be either first or second in terms of the number of people are utilized in that particular location. Zytwood typically is the only other station that's been beat out Midtown. So, what is it? 587 people voted on that. Tuesday the first day, 706 people voted.

on the following Wednesday. And so just to give you the idea, so Zygler, which is downtown, had 197 voters. Midtown has nine. Everybody has got good hope. Their numbers have been fairly, you know, similar like in the 90s for some of these days. But that Thursday, you got, and this is the day that Mandela ends up getting out of the race.

So that Thursday, 202 people had already voted at midnight. 89 people have voted at 7.50 for the week. Then when you go up through, when you look at Friday, 642 people voting midtown numbers, drop down to 125, Zylo 158,

So that Friday, it was interesting. And it's Saturday voting extremely low. And so what I would anticipate, you know, one into this type of a race. I mean, 344 people voted on Saturday. 57 voted at Midtown. 80 voted downtown. Like Good Hope Library had more and typical new library. In fact, almost all of the libraries.

have more voters than Midtown, which was interesting. Also, I said it rained all day Saturday. Thanks for that information. What I say rain, you know, what we all say rain will keep you out of the game. And so on Sunday, and you know, I'm hoping that some of these churches are encouraging people to get up and services over.

Sunday voting was the lowest of all of the days, 176 voters. Zyla 54, Tipper Canoe Library. Now, interesting, Washington is a block, I mean, the block library is closed, but Tipper Canoe Library, 47, Midtown, 45, Good Hope, 30. So again, pastors, while you win the pool, please, for a moment.

be political. You don't have to be partisan, but you can be political. That's one of the things that I appreciate that, you know, the NAACP uses that as a tagline and a lot of things that they talk about. We are not partisan, but we are political. Everything we touch, everything we do. Politics is somewhere in the game from the lot that your church is sitting on.

to the IRS wanting to know about the ties and the money that's coming in to the light utility, the light bill you pay and the utility rate that it costs you to the cause that your members drive. And so for these pastors who are not actively encouraging their members to be politically active, I'm just going to say shame on you, man.

because I have been in churches where, or tried to go to churches where, you know, folks would be like, yeah, you know, we don't do that. Would they do you? And so please, please, please, faith leaders in our community, you got a captive audience. You ain't got to tell nobody who to vote for, but tell them to vote. You know, go vote as a church. We leave it early to go take care of that.

Please, please, please make sure that that is happening, okay? Because these numbers, it's going to be imperative because right now, I think they said 180 people had already voted in this election. And you got people who are now in limbo. I know that there was a lawsuit that was brought forward to see if they could get the rules changed in Wisconsin to allow people to go back in.

and spoil their ballot if they had already voted for a candidate who is no longer in the race to be able to have an opportunity to vote for someone who is currently still in the race. The Democratic Party joined that lawsuit. They were not successful. So as of right now, if you voted for somebody who got out of the race, that vote is just gone. You're not going to get a do-over, a second opportunity to do this thing.

differently so I'm telling people it's going to be crazy to see how some of this stuff falls. Today is August 3rd and in eight days everybody else who has not already voted will be in the polling location casting these ballots. Encourage your people you know get off the thing but get up and go vote you know people talking about I don't know who I want to vote for you know like what can I do to help you understand who these candidates are.

But we have got to be engaged. We absolutely don't have a luxury of not doing that. I'm up against my first break of the hour. When I come back, I'm going to take a little bit of time, talk about the whole Mandela situation, because like I said, I couldn't tell nobody I was from Wisconsin. And somebody not say, man, what's going on with y'all? Well, what's what's, you know, and there was people that knew because they remember the Senate race. So they knew Mandela's name.

in relationship. And this is the problem with me not doing a Friday show. I literally almost won't say it was live because so many people have reached out about, are you seeing this? Do you see this? I heard from everybody. But again, it just was so crazy. A number of people caught off guard. It was unexpected. Last year, we were talking about the fact that the poll

from Marquette that was willing to give the most recent information of David Quali, including re-entering the race. And some people had began to kind of talk about, you know, like what they were hearing, that the numbers didn't fail much better. There were a couple of percentage cases, but nothing substantive, even with Quali's re-entry into the race.

So, you know, people kind of waiting for this whole thing to drop. And, okay, so that, that, that drops. And what did we say? Francesca Hong, somewhere, hot bodies in terms of percentage points. Mandela, like a 16% quality, I think at 7%, the other candidates at like 2% Brennan and Roy. You know, you already understand, like,

If this poll, which I said, I went back and looked up markets, its gold standard for the country, 92% how it's like, you know, how closely they come to being on par with what they find in their polls. They don't do predictions. They just give you the data. You interpret it the way you want to. You just, and so then we get the statement, you know, Mandela,

Needs with the team says they can't see basically a pathway It's clear who was confident is going to be electing to be the nominee on the Democratic side of the ticket and I went out All right as soon and so somebody had already you know in fact a couple people had already flagged hey He didn't really get out the race He didn't really get out the race

At least two people hit me up and said him and Joe Brennan was getting ready not race I thought the Joe Brennan piece was interesting because Joe Brennan had just said a couple days before I'm in it to the end But we've seen other candidates say I'm I'm gonna be in it and then they get out So, you know, you just got to wait to see what happens. So We're getting this this background information and then someone, you know, hits me up as his egg show we use is saying

over on his show that Mandela and uh, I don't know if he said both Mandela and Brennan, but I know he said Mandela is getting out of the race. So now people really talk it, you know, in the black community in particular, because you got a couple of, you know, places you go for information and they heard that and like, do you know what's happening? So we wait and we wait and, you know, Mandela gets out as I had been leaked and then, you know, he issues his statement.

But in the background, it's a number of people sitting here going, yeah, that ain't why you're getting out the race. I'm just being honest. A number of folks was already in the cut, like, no, that's not why you're getting out the race. The number two guy, 16%, I mean, you got less chances than that.

And so it just didn't sit well, you know, that that was the reason. So then now we get the stories that there potentially is some, you know, inappropriate use of the position to, you know, engage young women and, you know, participate in sexual activities, that whole nine yards that, you know, hey,

I've actually seen the letter that was sent to party officials. I didn't see them on capacity as a member of the Democratic Party. I saw it because it was sent to me and it was sent to other people that I know. And later when I was able to go back and look, it was the same letter. So there have been people that have been trying to have this conversation

regarding, you know, sexual behavior, regarding some of the lieutenant governor for a while. We had social media posts and folks were talking about, you know, don't need to be believed. Why now? And I'm like, first of all, everybody, let's just go ahead and acknowledge and accept. I've mentioned it on the show before. It's not new. I didn't make this term up. It is old.

but the act was surprised because the minute you get into the race, people are doing opposition research on you. That's why you understand how clean Barack Obama had to be to run for president of the United States. Today, they have never dug up any dirt on Barack Obama. We say to candidates,

Would they follow you tomorrow? I'm interested in running for office and blah blah. Hey, what's your life look like? And is there anything out there that you got going on that you don't want people to know? Or that if you got someone sick of mic in your face, you are comfortable explaining. What? What is in your background? And who else knows it? And is they not deceased?

Can you trust them? Remember in the judge race, this son can I say, hey, this judge is racist. This judge was beating my dad. I mean, it used to sit back like you don't know where information is going to come from, but you definitely got to know, review your life and appreciate what's in your past. If some of these people

Yeah, I saw somebody say on social media that black people can never do what white folks do and get away with it in terms of acceptance in public, the public eye. Can never do the same thing. Donald Trump grabbed him by the P.

You know, um, 19 women will understand it when you look at Clinton and say, I've been assaulted, Eugene Carroll, lawsuit. I mean, as, as. Throwed it 100%. We already know that is not extended to brothers, to men of color, to people, women of color. You don't get those kinds of mess ups and mistakes. So number one, you got to turn back and look at him because.

He knew that stuff was out there. Hang on a second Jay. Do I have to take a 35? No ma'am. We got 20 49 on both hours Perfect. Thank you. All right. So he knew it was out there He knew it was out there and You take a calculated risk that it may may not come up or the damage

won't be crippling to the point that it harms my chances of living or, you know, being a viable candidate. So it was interesting to watch. And I'm going to sit. During my break, I don't know that everybody's seen it. I know a lot of people have heard the different bits and pieces here and there, but to fully

was working on the story uh political reporter for the wonky johnson who passed away uh not too long ago he was working on the story at the time of his death other reporters have picked it up and ran with it but as i said to some people on social media yesterday who was like the timing of this is suspicious why didn't he's with me i'm like y'all this is not new this is not new and i want to be clear

for the folks listening this morning. This is not new information. There were many people who were aware of this for years, not months, not weeks, but years. And if we knew, he knew. If we

And so before everybody started putting on a, oh, they trying to keep a brother down. Oh, they going after his black man. I mean, it's hard to say that because there's another black man in the race. I'm just want to be clear. If we knew, he knew. And then, gations of stuff being said before any letter ever surfaced. Capital, I heard a whole bunch of crap.

never, ever giving credence to any of it. If you don't make a formal complaint, if you don't come forward, you know, that's not my business. I don't have anything to do with it. I wouldn't dare say anything like that on the, let's leave it alone. But I'm here because I watched our community twist they sales and not, you know, why?

You know, is this fair? And is this somebody just coming after this brother because they don't want to see him be elected? This is new. None of it is new. I didn't say any of it was true. But what I said, none of these are new. The letter that I read to the same thing that I'm sure the Democratic Party was saying, it does not name names.

You don't know who to contact. You don't know who to interview. You don't know who to cooperate. Anything that's in this letter that was sent. So what do I do with this? Because you don't do anything that anybody who wanted to honestly investigate what you're saying, you don't give them nothing to work with. And so again, you know, on that level, I would question

the way in which it was done, because if you seriously are trying to allow the public to a problem to say that this individual is a predator or this individual is dangerous or this is somebody that's unfit for office, then send a letter like that, at least give somebody something to cooperate, a name.

You know, so that's why it also was something that you don't really get to follow up with one because you can learn But there's nothing legitimately to connect him to and I remind people of that as they had a conversation But I also one of those caution people that are out here, you know with the carry it's meant to take a brother down This didn't happen for this race

It didn't happen for this race. And this is something that candidates have to figure out how to handle. Because I know this message out here. Do I get out in front of it? Do I bring it up first? Or do I wait for the gotcha moment? Do I wait for the, you know, let somebody else, you know, create the narrative and tell the story. And now I'm trying to play catch up. Position the being.

I don't envy it of anybody, but I'mma tell you, it's no way I understand the severity of these kind of allegations and somebody else tell that story before me. I'm telling it. So by the time the media gets ahold of it, you know, I can diffuse it or at least I get to be the first word on it because you're trying to be the governor of a dang whole state.

So, why would you need that chance? I would just say again, I think that the people who were handling Mandela, handling his campaign, just people that were ill-equipped for him as well. He, I'm concerned, he did not have a strong team around him. He has not made sound decisions. And I'm gonna be, it was a little bit of janky and shadiness for me because,

U.S. Senate race. Right now for him and the path was being clear for him. I don't care how many people deny it. I know what I saw. I know what I heard both in state and out of state about how candidates were being pressured to come up out of that race. I know what he was doing, Mandela, to help, you know, try to get David to get out of the race in this race.

Because, you know, it was going muddy to water. It's a clear pathway to wind. So I wouldn't know that stuff is out there. It's just jacked up. When it's you, that's not a talking. Don't cry now. So I'm just telling y'all now, don't nobody feel sorry for Mandela. Please don't waste energy feeling sorry for Mandela.

Because in 2022, he was the beneficiary of people playing games on his behalf. He was the beneficiary of qualified people being asked to get out of the race so that he would have a clear shot to the U.S. Senate seat. That people that wanted to pick our leaders for us and people that wanted to, you know, to anoint him and

you know, squashing by the elves that had aspirations even within their own party. Do not cry for Mandela Barnes today. And if you already shared tears, you need to go get a refill. Because A, this is the game, as I say it on social media, is dirty. And a lot of these people are willing to play this game

because the rewards, the potential outcome, the power and the influence is worth it to them. But when you get bumped up by this game, you better learn how to take it on the chain and keep moving. The thing that's frustrating about what's happening with Mandela Barnes, you're done now. You're done. It's a wash. You can't run for nothing never again.

Ain't nobody getting ready to take a chance on you, put no money behind you. You literally have tore up all your political capital in this moment, even before the allegations come out. The stuff with this letter come out. So whatever future you thought you had in politics, it is a wrap. You're done. You're done.

I don't know how anybody may write mine ever writes another campaign check to this dude. And there are some people who are on the sidelines that are laughing or smiling or at the very least looking sideways because they know when it benefited him, he didn't have no problem with the game as it is being played.

So it's a bunch of y'all on Facebook. I encourage you to press. To find something else to be passionate about. But debating this, this conversation? No. It's not popular to say it in that way, waste of time. The only question now for me,

is the infamous Martin Luther King, but you know, apply specifically, where do we go from here? What's getting ready to happen now? 188,000, I think like 1.3 or 1.6 million people typically vote in a statewide race and a president. I think it's doing a presidential. I gotta go pull the numbers. I'm gonna see if I can do it during the break of what we typically see about way of votes cast.

in a gubernatorial election. So I'm gonna go see. But potentially we got 20% of the votes that have already been cast. So don't know what that looks like and who would be impacted in that way? But let me be clear, there has to be a question about where do we go from here? Is David Quali going to be the beneficiary

of Mandela being um you know removing himself from the race is that going to how much support will he get? Francesca Hong got heavy hitters on the far left coming in to support her Ilhan Omar and you know one influencer I don't even like follow dudes I don't even know like

I wouldn't have brought them in for me, but that train has left the station on Francesca Hall. That train has left the station. It was doing 40% in these numbers. Can Crawley make up ground from 7% to maybe picking up the Mandela head? And again, all of this is samples. This is samples.

until these people really get these polling booths and really make these decisions, you can kind of look at the data and make some predictions, some guesses, some of them educated and informed based on the data. But a lot of people are gunshot of doing it because when Trump is up winning, walked out of the polling booth and alive about who they have supported,

or who they lied on the front end of planning to support a vote for a whole bunch of posters and people who use those polls to make predictions got gunshot. Because you don't want egg on your face. There's political strategies that you're saying there is no clear pathway. So let me take a break. I will be right back.

in relationship to the upcoming, we're going to tell me to be clear, y'all, it's other stuff on the ballot. It really is. I will talk as we come out of this primary and go into the fall direction, because we've got the three referendums on the ballot that literally would change the state constitution around diversity, equity, inclusion, one of them in particular. So there are things, this isn't the only

you know, thing we should be talking about. Therefore, we have primary that are on the ballot in, you know, on the ballot round, which is primary, contests, races, to get people that haven't voted already, you know, information to make sure we can help you move forward. The thing that I would say

about now with Francesca Hong, DC, David Quali, and Joe Brennan being the last people, or the last four now, left standing in this red, is this is not an easy win for anybody. The number of people that are under

at this point in the game. What are we nine days away from the election? It's kind of crazy. You would have thought most people would have figured out a camp by now and started, you know, playing, talking with friends. But I've been talking to people. I've heard people talking to folks in their family and folks are still saying, man, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.

or folks who are like, man, I already cast my ballot. My post is not in the race no more. So it's crazy to be in this situation. I will say this. And their folks seriously want to see David quality, ascend, get busy. Because the data right now does not support a win. I don't care who comes running indoors.

I don't get who that was. What's going to make the difference to vote and people encouraging family members, folks that don't get up and go vote. Last week, somebody kept saying on one of my text messages says, it's going to be the person that can get folks off the couch. That's going to win.

They were still undecided It is August 3rd. We are eight days from an election Three out of five of my friends are still undecided Because you literally and I think that the way snap comes down to David quality and Francesca home, I honestly think that it's just because

The polling numbers have just been too low for Kelda, too low for Joe Browning to be realistic in the point, I should say, viable candidates. How can you come from 2% in all polling? That's crazy. That's crazy chances. But it goes into support. Because don't miss.

I will make that point clear. But right now, the way I see it, it's down to these two candidates. And there will be folks that will say, I like both of them. You know, I'm familiar with, I'm talking to people like in Milwaukee or out of the city that know DC.

It is that kind of talk that people who are in crisis and struggling and trying to figure it out, but y'all, I feel the car while we've been here on the aisle. Now, the car does take premium. It was $120.

We've got a hundred and twenty dollars to fill up for a tank of gas. A hundred and twenty dollars. Now, everything is higher on the island. You try to fill up before you get here, but we've been doing a bunch of rippity running. So inevitably we had to fill up while we was here. But the stuff that she's talking about, like folks are saying, you know, it was like a fault of the, no, she's breaking it down.

issue by issue and what this looks like. So it's resonating with people who even, you know, a year ago they all know this woman's name. Six months ago, you know, still may not know her name, but now, like she said, what? I got a piece of lit. I've had knocks at my door. Her people are enthusiastic. They're happy.

And you got DC. People are saying the job is done here in the county. You know, they know nothing, you know, crazy has happened on his watch. They believe that this guy is a good guy. They trust DC. You know, you don't feel like he's going to nothing crazy. So if people that's legitimately torn between who they want to support in this upcoming race.

But I'm gonna say it again if you are somebody who wants to see David Crawley win you better get busy Because the numbers are not only you better get busy Before he got out of the race the first time What the people who could have helped who didn't help

And I don't mean with an endorsement. I mean with money. I mean with volunteer hours. I mean with yard signs. All the things that make it. It wasn't getting that kind of history. Now. It seems like people are more receptive to doing some of them things. It's a damn shame. You get out the race and get back in the race. So to come.

But okay, so we're gonna look a good force in the mouth for the people that support DC, but I'm gonna tell y'all right now This game is far from over. It will be a turnout situation Francesca has already demonstrated Francesca Hong has already demonstrated. She got a physical infrastructure in place to help turn out Not money on commercials and ads

but a physical infrastructure is in place. I don't know how how tight DC's physical infrastructure is. Actual volunteers knocking on doors, boots on the ground, folks going to speak on his behalf, sir gets going out for him. I don't know. I don't know. I saw Congresswoman Moore came out from a lot of the other state major players have not endorsed this race. So it's just.

It's just interesting. But I'm in this piece of it. But if you, if you put a hope in a wish, a thinking, a belief, this is out to work. Boots on the ground, around, talking to people, not going to endure them. This is what you're trying to do.

You don't have to get busy and busy So since I've been speaking about brothers, let me go on and throw another one into the mix Summer Milwaukee City attorney chairman Spencer We saw on the news that my man, I call me Let me say this

When Tim is still on City Attorney, I will admit I was shocked. Because, you know, I just didn't see it coming. The Great Lightning had been in forever. You know, I knew something different. He is a brother that potentially

I'm sorry, y'all. Here's a brother that potentially, you know, went ahead, black man city, when you say the attorney, okay, you see it. People watching this do liars, you make me nervous. You make me nervous. The way you talk, the way you move, you make me nervous. And anybody listening to my story on a regular basis, you know, me and Keon had a running joke, like,

because he was too cocky and uh to me not conscientious about protocol in the rules and you playing in an arena that you really hadn't played in before because it's one thing if i'm a lawyer and i'm doing legal stuff it's another thing to be a politician and and

and you walk and you move differently, or you should, when you're politicized, it's a regular job, because optics can kill you. Optics can kill you. Optically, there are things about Tiananmen that are just like, oh no, you silly, and it's gonna come back to get you. There's a level of confidence and arrogance in the way you move,

that's not going to benefit you. And so here we sit, that after a trial, which started back on July 27th, a jury has come back and convicted Kim and Spencer of a felony. I'm going to pull directly from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article about them. So this man is 69 years old.

And he got found guilty of misconduct in public office, which is a felony. He is going to be awaiting sentencing on this. I think it could be up to two years in prison. And then there's a financial fine that is possible as a result of it. All of this is in connection to property.

that he once owned, and GNS, Department of Neighborhood Services, were trying to inspect the property. And they argued that he used his position as a city attorney for personal gain. The jury, eight women for men, they acquitted him of a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer. So they, nobody said that he lied to anybody or did anything crazy.

I'm just telling y'all, right now, it's not over for him. He still is facing additional charges. So I don't know, like, you know, if you get to appeal the decision of this jury, I'm sorry, yeah, this jury, this outcome, this case, or what goes on. And some people are unclear about, so what exactly did he do? But this goes back all the way to 2024 when he got charged.

But back in 2020, Spencer sold a building to a local Milwaukee businessman before he got elected to be city attorney in 2020, okay? As a part of that agreement, Spencer was allowed to continue to store a collection of cars he had on the property as a part of his agreement. So you own this building or this, you know,

whatever it was, you show it to somebody. One of the things that y'all agree, you know, the guy say, you know, uh, you could, you could still throw your cards here. I'm okay with it for now. And so Spencer said on the witness stand that he was told, he told the guy, you need an occupancy permit to store his vehicles.

He said under oath he researched the matter and that such a permit wasn't necessary. So all of this gives down to you utilizing attorneys in the office to research an issue. You don't tell these attorneys in your office that you have a personal stake in this situation and you are accused of using the city of Milwaukee taxpayer funded lawyers as your own personal attorney.

You know this misconduct in public office that that's and so people like what that's not that awful and It is if you you know Got taxpayers Doing I mean taxpayer funded attorneys doing work for you personally. That's raggedy. Oh, it's 18 months in two up to two years behind bars and 18 months of the supervision

along with the $10,000 fine. That's what he could be looking at. He's going to be sentenced on September 11th. But as I said, if not over, be charged with four other felonies in October of 2025. This is one of the case. And in that case, he was a partner to obtain a Milwaukee property improperly.

and then trying to flip it for a larger profit. So in the court filings, we'll say Agent Canard Rags are said to have persuaded a Milwaukee man to bypass probate court and sell the property from his family's estate for $8,000, even though it was worth. Now this case is gonna be heard in Walker Shark County.

The thing and this is what I just find so so You need to take a shower after you you talk about it So you are brother in the community and You are accused of Taking advantage of another brother by offering them this poultry summer money

$8,000 for a property that said to be worth significantly more. Now those significant is $80,000, $100,000. I don't know what the number is, $50,000. But see, why are you trying to take advantage of people? And if it's between, you know, I made it out on that deal, then I just straight robbed somebody.

He's not been found guilty, but I am aware of the situation. Because he's been out there. So I don't know what happened or didn't happen. But if it did happen, it's raggedy. And whatever happened to him, he deserves.

We have a game system for personal benefit. We want to do it every day. We can return them to the children, your bull, your wife, everybody making money while the American people is trying to figure out how to pay for basic necessities. The roof over their heads.

And if you're gonna be listening your kids Well all of this hits very differently because number one is the first brother to get Shell are you there? I'm here. Can you hear me? No, I can Okay, sorry

So, yeah, this is scandalous. We'll see what happens in the opinion of the decision, you know, about a jury and the findings of the court and its most recent case, but he didn't have to be here. And this is the thing. If you're going to get taken out, get taken out for some real stuff. Don't get taken out because I'm having people do work that I could have hired somebody to do for me. That's just the first case.

You catch a felony. It's too damn cheap to hire somebody to do your work for you. Come on, man. I'm going to catch a felony for something I could have paid for. This is ridiculous, ridiculous. But Cheyenne Jackson, anytime a man name will come up,

And the time he came to the studio, Keon just wanted to be like, he won't play him. And he would want to say it to his face. He'll be like, Keon, don't do that. Or he would want to say it on the air. And I'm like, Keon, don't do that. And he'll be like, oh, is it too soon? Is it too soon? But we knew it.

So not surprised at this outcome. I'm not going to be surprised if he gets convinced over. Don't play yourself over. Like I haven't been going to jail. I've definitely been going to jail over no forces like this. This nonsense. So and with some people,

Who can afford to do things the right way? You know, this is just greedy. I'm trying to deal with cocaine. You trying to buy a property from somebody and to cook them to make a ridiculous profit. And you go to sleep at night, she did somebody like that.

It's one thing like, oh yeah, I got 5,000 out of deal, more than I expected. I got 30,000 out of deal, more than I expected. But this man potentially got tens of thousands of deal out of the deal that he. So whatever happened to hear me, another brother, you brought it on yourself. Another brother, you was being raggedy. Another brother who thought the rules didn't apply to you. You were smarter than a gang. You know, you could manipulate it. You could do it. You could make it work for you.

And now you're about to be, you know, um, it's nothing else, uh, on it's, uh, on supervision, on parole with some nonsense. How does it impact your law license? I, you know, I don't know. I don't know what happened when you catch felonies. Um, well, wait, I do know cause we see Gary Orch. Who sees people catch cases.

And some people can go to jail, get out, and you're able to go back and get their law degree back. I mean, get their law license back. So it don't mean it's the end of the world, but just something you don't think you're gonna have to go through. I would say that all day. Somebody just sent me something saying, yeah, they say they started building for over 200. That was the number I was looking for. So let's just say this together.

You and I'm wondering this man who he did to deal with this man was like special needs cognitively delayed, you know, slow a little bit. I'm sure I'll be disrespectful because you just don't understand the law. You only bought that for eight grand. I don't know how any of that works. But the idea, let's sing it together. Spencer knew that house was worth eight more to eight thousand dollars if he did what they are.

Let me keep putting fire if you did what they are letting that he did You buy this house for 8 grand and then you flip it for $200,000 you get them past toll day court like oh Come on y'all You deserve everything you get if you did that if I Tell you right now

Don't have no tears. Ain't nobody trying to take a brother down. These brothers being silly and hurting themselves. Because you're an average bear. Because you above the law. Because I know how to play these white folks. Whatever knife you was on, and you was thinking, you know, that you could do dope. And it won't hit you. It won't hit you.

It don't work like that. It does not work like that. And it shouldn't. And I don't know if it's easier than in the United States. We see so many people in his cabinet connected to him. I'm sorry, connected to him. We see things very different. That's not right. That's not fair either. We don't stop making martyrs out of the people who have put themselves in these crazy situations.

We don't stop doing that. We don't stop. So that's where I am on the tiramisu situation. It's raggedy, it's not over, and none of us are surprised. None, none of us. None of us. Didn't want to see it. Don't wish it on nobody, but everybody I know called it.

How do you go walk anywhere now? Where are you going? Cause you know, why someone's been popping them up finding them a job since he left the assembly. You know, oh, you don't want to sit in the race. We don't create you a fake job over at power to the polls. And you, you know, you, you go for work to other people who we are doing all of them with fake jobs. They all was fake. They all was fake. I'm not saying you didn't go. I'm not saying you didn't do something, but.

All of this stuff was created to insulate, protect, and help an individual that people believed in. Who can really do all of that for you now? Who can really do all of that for you now? You have bumped up all your political capital. It's gone. Because you thought you.

I can't tell you what you did to the governor that was memorable, remarkable, impressive, made a difference in the lives of everyday people. I just, I can't tell you what it was. But I'm a risk. being focused, even when things are at their darkest. So, in the video you've seen last, you may have heard him do this, tell this bit. I'm not gonna cite the scripture and stuff that he spoke from, but I'm gonna get to the gist of what it came down to, which is actually the very end of his sermon. He said, because he laid out all the different things that are happening in the country that are troubling right now.

that are scary right now. You know, loss of rights, attacks, rights under attack, people of color, black folks in here, you know, we got to move that on our back. The rate of black female unemployment under the Trump administration, like all of these things, that's crazy. And he talked about being awakened in the middle of the night to a noise that was coming from his...

Young daughter's room things. She's like five years old. He said young daughter's room and he said, you know, he'd be with any dad. Yeah, does he got a Radish, you know, he's that he going in the room to figure out what in the world is going on He said when he opens the door is dark in the room But when his eyes finally adjust to the darkness, he sees his daughter Dancing around in the middle of the floor And so he's like, you know to his daughter. Let me go. What you doing?

And she said, you know, I'm dancing daddy. I'm, you know, practicing because he had a recital the next day. And he was like, well, you got to go to bed. And his daughter had this determination. No, I got something to do tomorrow. He kept dancing. And then he said, in that moment, it caught him. And he was like, you know what?

He said There are folks that the darkness will stop you from doing what you need What makes you happy what makes us well what keeps us sane We will get bogged down and stuck in darkness and that This will five-year-old girl in her dancing found her light and kept doing her thing

that message being continue to find the positive in the midst of all the crazy. So there were a couple of things that stood out. Here on the island is HBCU Week, and there are so many events going around. I was in the room with HBCU presidents the other day, and, you know, different conversations committed to what happened on HBCU campus. Just, you know, everybody up in their gear.

uh, you see in schools from all over the country, people just proud of the fact that they connected to historically black colleges and universities. And so there was a story out of Tuscany, out of Alabama about a young girl accepted into Harvard, okay, graduate school, graduate school of education, her name is Janika Janeguveri. And then she

Recently did a post on social media. This is a lady. Graduated from Tuskegee. She's a university. She's a student by college, private college. And she posted this post after years of writing, building networking and earning my degree at Tuskegee University. I was accepted.

off of her what she described as a generous financial aid package. The aspiring author and educator said she was still left with a significant funding gap and around she would make diversity possible. Tyler Perry was listening and Tyler Perry got in touch with his sound sister and she reached out to let her know

that he would cut the remaining gap financially in her education so that she could attend and graduate from Harvard University. So the post that she put out, which I endured, it said, I was headed to Harvard. Tyler Perry made sure I arrived supported.

He generously covered the remaining balance of my tuition, allowing me to enter this next chapter with greater stability and peace of mind. Mother Tuskegee put doors I once only dreamed about. Harvard became the next chapter, but Tuskegee will always be the foundation. From Mother Tuskegee to Harvard,

I carry every lesson, every prayer, and every person who helped me rise. Again, her name is Janae DeBeer. And this echoed conversations we've been having on the island about how historically black colleges and universities survive and the current administration that we are in, what alumna have to do visually.

will stay open, that they are financially free. And I don't care if it's $10. And if there are those of us who did not graduate from our HBCU, we can still figure out a way to pick one, pick two, help them, then do that. I love that she said, don't be twisted. While I'm going to Harvard, I don't know.

It was a black university that positioned me to even get accepted in the heart because one of the things I lament frequently. Any of these black schools are the schools that parents use to come up, to get out the hood, to graduate from college, to get good jobs. Those jobs put you in position to make real money.

And then you start sending your kids to non-black colleges. Only, you know, certain schools are good enough for your children. But the schools that put you in a position to give that child the life in the first place, those schools are no longer good enough for your children. You are prouder that they got accepted into very Alabama state.

or this school, this white, you know, predominantly white-stone institution, rather than, you know, clocking around the university. And so, I love what this young sister said. When she was alive, don't get it twisted. I know from whence I came. I know who set me up for the win. And so,

And then I think about how people were lying, Tyler Perry, blah, blah, blah. He doesn't have like a warm in, but he take all that money that is used from all the stuff he had to do to get on. And he has funneled that money back into our community in meaningful ways, in meaningful ways, changes in the outcome and the lives for, you know,

You know young oh He's done it for everybody so hope and then I try to find it Young African-American boy who goes to school down in Georgia Got a 1600 on his SAT Let's say 1% of people are

able to get a perfect score. 1600 is a perfect score on the SAT entrance exam to go to college. This young brother, who is a football player, is an athlete down in Douglasville, Georgia. His name is Corey Sessons. And this young brother, and I mean the picture of him, it just, oh, it just did my heart just good because he got his suit on. He got his little white shirt on.

And he got a diamond earring in his ear. You know, he's a baby brother all day long, business. He is in his senior year. And this young brother at 17 knocks down a perfect score on the SAT. Again, less than 1% of all test takers in this country get a perfect score.

And so she, on the practice test, got a 1,570. Remember I told you 1,600 is perfect. When he took the practice test, he got a 1,570. So he had to know that it was in his grasp. Do you remember? We agree. So he had to know it.

And so he's a wide receiver with his high school football team. He talks about drawing a correlation between the discipline of sports and his classroom. And, you know, he is on his way. I think they said he was going to Yale. His parents are trying to get him to go to Georgia Tech, but he wants to go to Yale because he wants to be an engineer and then he wants to go to law school.

amazing stories in the midst of all of this chaos. There are so many, and I can do this locally at home. I can do it here on the island. You know, I took such joy yesterday. I was walking and no, I was not, not walking. I drove to go get some coffee yesterday early in the morning. And it's crack or no, but I'm a, I'm like, let me go. The coffee spot is open. I'm going to go get coffee for the house.

I passed the group, saw his black kids on their bikes. And I mean, none of them looked like they was more than 12 years old. But I had probably eight year olds, 12 year olds. And they just riding along the beach on their bikes. No adults, they just out here just ride. And I couldn't help but smile. Because I know as parents and people in our community,

This is the stuff we work for. You know, I look at the pictures of my grandson standing out in his body of water off of the beach, having the time of his life. Atlas was here last week, went home Saturday, because he actually started school today back in Georgia. And, you know, just flying a kite, just hanging out,

This boy had the time of his life while he was here. Remember, being a teen mom. But I always understood what I was capable of, what I wanted my life to be, the life I wanted to pass down to my son, and then my son has taken it and elevated it in terms of the life he wanted to pass down to his son. But none of that, none of that has been done in the absence of who we are.

loving our community, loving ourselves, being proud of who we are. And so even though we under attack in this country, even though it's folks that will do everything they can under the sun to try to make people believe that we are resting academically, you know, intellectually, work ethic wise, morally,

Yeah, we all know that that is nothing but nonsense. There are pathways for us to excel in this of the darkness back to oldest moss that we are in. We just gotta find the lane. We gotta find the pathway. But young people need us to stay on them, to guide them.

When our parents used to tell us, or the ones that have heard this before, it's going to hurt me more than it hurts you, even though you're the one crying right now, and you're the one upset, and you're the one thinking I'm being unfair, I know what I'm doing. Because I'm trying to get you to a different place in life. I know what I'm doing. And it's uncomfortable, and the whole house is in this way, and everybody upset. But you're going to get this lesson. You're going to learn what I'm trying to teach you.

that young brother who was able to pull a 1600 on an ACT? I already know Atlas is capable of that because of the foundational stuff that is being put in place around this kid. We cannot get sidetracked with these silly, you know,

Things that are going on around us people with they petty grievances folks who don't want to see us advance I Tell people all time their folks that come to this vineyard to you know relax and you know Rejuvenate you all the good things. I don't have no beef with none of that But I'm always here and reminded about

Black excellence. Black work. Black intelligence. Black entrepreneurship. Keisha just saw last night, the sister that I interviewed, who was the black female pilot, I interviewed her on my show, because the Delta's had brought her to Milwaukee for our, I think it was our literary luncheon. And I missed meeting her when she came to town, because I was doing something else. And Keisha said, oh, your girl gonna be here.

She's like the pilot, the assistant. Oh, I'm going to see her. I believe here we invigorated to continue to do the work that we gotta do in our community. I believe here inspired. These trips are not for flexing.

And, you know, oh, I can because I can. They serve a dual purpose for me. Y'all, I'm gonna encourage you. Whatever you guys do to make sure that our kids are thriving and succeeding, we know what is possible when we invest. Every opportunity, I'd rather put something

in your mind and on your back and on your feet, because we'll spend more money on increased analysis than we will on their education and some of their early foundational education. Courses, group steps, experiences to help these kids grow and be able to walk into room.

and get a 1600 or an SAT because now more than ever, these young kids are getting ready to be scrutinized and grilled in a way that we want when everybody is against DEI. And everybody is hollering merit-based dissonant and using these as excuses to shut doors in our face won't have no time to play.

We're gonna have no room to play and that was young black boys. This boy look like everybody son everybody nephew Reading and That's all our children So no already doing I'm talking to the choir. I know it and I'm thankful for you some of us we could be doing more we could be doing more because

If we are not raising up people that can protect our history, that can protect our lineage, that can protect what we have fought for, what's it all for? What's it all for? We got to teach community. We got to teach like they, you all of us when you step out this house, right, wrong, fair or not,

You don't get to go out here and act no foe. Because see, I got 10 more kids behind you that's going to get judged on the way you behave in today. It ain't fair. It ain't right. I get it. I understand. I feel for you. But it's the reality. It's the reality. There was no way I wasn't going to mention that, babe. 1600 on the SAT.

There was no way I wasn't going to publicly say thank you to Tyler Perry for making this child's dream of attending Harvard, you know, and her being able to afford it. And I think about people who have means and resources and these are stories that we take my last break and I'm done. Yep. Are you serious?

What happened?

Yeah, I don't know what happened.

Was Mandela getting out of the ring?

Oh, yeah, I saw that.

Now, do you think that that would help David Crawley?

Yeah, DC gonna pick up some of Mandela's supporters if they hadn't early voted already.

But Francesca gonna pick them up.

You know, so the other candidates in the Marquette Parle of the people that they, when they did that poll, they said like they asked people to watch their first choice, watch their second choice.

For the people that 30% of them said that Francesca would have been their second choice.

That was, you know, like kind of Rod Mandela.

Or like, like if people have run for DC, there will be a second choice.

So yeah, she still does well with people that may have even supported him.

That's still just hanging out there.

So it's going to be interesting to see what happens because I think 30, 40% of people even in that poll still undecided.

Everybody, I heard it was on Roland Martin.

It's been on national news.

What in the world is going on in Wisconsin?

I was watching the social media.

And, you know, let me just start here.

First of all, early voting is going on.

People, if you have not done it yet, please consider to go early vote.

You can do it until Sunday, August 9th.

And

Right now, when we are looking at our daily tolls, so far, I think about $3,000, and let me see if I can pull it up.

Where's my number?

3,187 people have voted as of August 2nd.

And let me just tap in and check.

OK, cool.

Because right now, I need to get a little bit of a feedback.

And if I don't hear it, then I'm like,

nervous that I'm not so on, but okay, let me just roll through this.

So as of August 2nd, 3,187 folks had cast ballots.

This is in-person early voting.

132 registrations, 225 drop-offs from the Seminoza Maryland ballots that people just ended up dropping off instead.

Remember, we got the six locations open.

So I had been paying attention to kind of see what the numbers were going to be.

at some of the different voting locations.

And Midtown continues to be either first or second in terms of the number of people are utilized in that particular location.

Zytwood typically is the only other station that's been beat out Midtown.

So, what is it?

587 people voted on that.

Tuesday the first day, 706 people voted.

on the following Wednesday.

And so just to give you the idea, so Zygler, which is downtown, had 197 voters.

Midtown has nine.

Everybody has got good hope.

Their numbers have been fairly, you know, similar like in the 90s for some of these days.

But that Thursday, you got, and this is the day that Mandela ends up getting out of the race.

So that Thursday, 202 people had already voted at midnight.

89 people have voted at 7.50 for the week.

Then when you go up through, when you look at Friday, 642 people voting midtown numbers, drop down to 125, Zylo 158,

So that Friday, it was interesting.

And it's Saturday voting extremely low.

And so what I would anticipate, you know, one into this type of a race.

I mean, 344 people voted on Saturday.

57 voted at Midtown.

80 voted downtown.

Like Good Hope Library had more and typical new library.

In fact, almost all of the libraries.

have more voters than Midtown, which was interesting.

Also, I said it rained all day Saturday.

Thanks for that information.

What I say rain, you know, what we all say rain will keep you out of the game.

And so on Sunday, and you know, I'm hoping that some of these churches are encouraging people to get up and services over.

Sunday voting was the lowest of all of the days, 176 voters.

Zyla 54, Tipper Canoe Library.

Now, interesting, Washington is a block, I mean, the block library is closed, but Tipper Canoe Library, 47, Midtown, 45, Good Hope, 30.

So again, pastors, while you win the pool team, please, for a moment.

be political.

You don't have to be partisan, but you can be political.

That's one of the things that I appreciate that, you know, the NAACP uses that as a tagline and a lot of things that they talk about.

We are not partisan, but we are political.

Everything we touch, everything we do.

Politics is somewhere in the game from the lot that your church is sitting on.

to the IRS wanting to know about the ties and the money that's coming in to the light utility, the light bill you pay and the utility rate that it costs you to the cause that your members drive.

And so for these pastors who are not actively encouraging their members to be politically active, I'm just going to say shame on you, man.

Because I have been in churches where we'll try to go to churches where you know folks would be like, yeah, you know We don't do that when they do you and so please please please faith leaders in our community You got a captive audience.

You ain't got to tell me about who to vote for but tell them to vote You know go vote as a church.

We leave it early to go take care of that So

Please, please, please make sure that that is happening, okay?

Because these numbers, it's going to be imperative because right now, I think they said 180 people had already voted in this election.

And you got people who are now in limbo.

I know that there was a lawsuit that was brought forward to see if they could get the rules changed in Wisconsin to allow people to go back in.

and spoil their ballot if they had already voted for a candidate who is no longer in the race to be able to have an opportunity to vote for someone who is currently still in the race.

The Democratic Party joined that lawsuit.

They were not successful.

So as of right now, if you voted for somebody who got out of the race, that vote is just gone.

You're not going to get a do-over, a second opportunity to do this thing.

differently so I'm telling people it's going to be crazy to see how some of this stuff falls.

Today is August 3rd and in eight days everybody else who has not already voted will be in the polling location casting these ballots.

Encourage your people you know get off the thing but get up and go vote you know people talking about I don't know who I want to vote for you know like what can I do to help you understand who these candidates are.

But we have got to be engaged.

We absolutely don't have the luxury of not doing that.

I'm up against my first break of the hour.

When I come back, I'm going to take a little bit of time, talk about the whole Mandela situation, because like I said, I couldn't tell nobody I was from Wisconsin.

And somebody not say, man, what's going on with y'all?

Well, what's what's, you know, and there was people that knew because they remember the Senate race.

So they knew Mandela's name.

because that rates against Ronald Johnson.

And so I'm going to talk about it.

So as I said, there is no way not to, you know, set aside to have the conversation that, you know, set everything on fire last week.

And this is the problem with me not doing a Friday show.

I literally almost won't say it was live because so many people have reached out about, are you seeing this?

Do you see this?

I heard from everybody.

But again, it just was so crazy.

A number of people caught off guard.

It was unexpected.

Last year, we were talking about the fact that the poll

from Marquette that was willing to give the most recent information of David Quali, including re-entering the race.

And some people had began to kind of talk about, you know, like what they were hearing, that the numbers didn't fail much better.

There were a couple of percentage cases, but nothing substantive, even with Quali's re-entry into the race.

So, you know, people kind of waiting for this whole thing to drop.

And, okay, so that, that, that drops.

And what did we say?

Francesca Hong, somewhere, hot bodies in terms of percentage points.

Mandela, like a 16% quality, I think at 7%, the other candidates at like 2% Brennan and Roy.

You know, you already understand, like,

If this poll, which I said, I went back and looked up markets, its gold standard for the country, 92% how it's like, you know, how closely they come to being on par with what they find in their polls.

They don't do predictions.

They just give you the data.

You interpret it the way you want to.

You just, and so then we get the statement, you know, Mandela,

Needs with the team says they can't see basically a pathway It's clear who was confident is going to be electing to be the nominee on the Democratic side of the ticket and I went out All right as soon and so somebody had already you know in fact a couple people had already flagged hey He didn't really get out the race He didn't really get out the race

At least two people hit me up and said him and Joe Brennan was getting ready not race I thought the Joe Brennan piece was interesting because Joe Brennan had just said a couple days before I'm in it to the end But we've seen other candidates say I'm I'm gonna be in it and then they get out So, you know, you just got to wait to see what happens.

So We're getting this this background information and then someone, you know, hits me up as his egg.

Sherwin Hughes is saying

over on his show that Mandela and uh, I don't know if he said both Mandela and Brennan, but I know he said Mandela is getting out of the race.

So now people really talk it, you know, in the black community in particular, because you got a couple of, you know, places you go for information and they heard that and like, do you know what's happening?

So we waiting, we waiting, you know, Mandela gets out as I had been leaked and then, you know, he issues his statement.

But in the background, it's a number of people sitting here going, yeah, that ain't why you're getting out the race.

I'm just being honest.

A number of folks was already in the cut, like, no, that's not why you're getting out the race.

The number two guy, 16%, I mean, you got less chances than that.

And so it just didn't sit well, you know, that that was the reason.

So then now we get the stories that there potentially is some, you know, inappropriate use of the position to, you know, engage young women and, you know, participate in sexual activities, that whole nine yards that, you know, hey,

I've actually seen the letter that was sent to party officials.

I didn't see them on capacity as a member of the Democratic Party.

I saw it because it was sent to me and it was sent to other people that I know.

And later when I was able to go back and look, it was the same letter.

So there have been people that have been trying to have this conversation

regarding, you know, sexual behavior, regarding some of the lieutenant governor for a while.

We had social media posts and folks were talking about, you know, don't need to be believed.

Why now?

And I'm like, first of all, everybody, let's just go ahead and acknowledge and accept.

I've mentioned it on the show before.

It's not new.

I didn't make this term up.

It is old.

but the act was surprised because the minute you get into the race, people are doing opposition research on you.

That's why you understand how clean Barack Obama had to be to run for president of the United States.

Today, they have never dug up any dirt on Barack Obama.

We say to candidates,

Would they follow you tomorrow?

I'm interested in running for office and blah blah.

Hey, what's your life look like?

And is there anything out there that you got going on that you don't want people to know?

Or that if you got someone sick of mic in your face, you are comfortable explaining.

What?

What is in your background?

And who else knows it?

And is they not deceased?

Can you trust them?

Remember in the judge race, this son can I say, hey, this judge is racist.

This judge was beating my dad.

I mean, it used to sit back like you don't know where information is going to come from, but you definitely got to know, review your life and appreciate what's in your past.

If some of these people

Yeah, I saw somebody say on social media that black people can never do what white folks do and get away with it in terms of acceptance in public, the public eye.

Can never do the same thing.

Donald Trump grabbed him by the P.

You know, um, 19 women will understand it when you look at Clinton and say, I've been assaulted, Eugene Carroll, lawsuit.

I mean, as, as.

Throwed it 100%.

We already know that is not extended to brothers, to men of color, to people, women of color.

You don't get those kinds of mess ups and mistakes.

So number one, you got to turn back and look at him because.

He knew that stuff was out there.

Hang on a second Jay.

So he knew it was out there He knew it was out there and You take a calculated risk that it may may not come up or the damage

won't be crippling to the point that it harms my chances of living or, you know, being a viable candidate.

So it was interesting to watch.

And I'm going to sit.

During my break, I don't know that everybody's seen it.

I know a lot of people have heard the different bits and pieces here and there, but to fully

I'm not gonna do it on my shelf.

I Would not touch it became public information and the stories Dan Bice

was working on the story uh political reporter for the wonky johnson who passed away uh not too long ago he was working on the story at the time of his death other reporters have picked it up and ran with it but as i said to some people on social media yesterday who was like the timing of this is suspicious why didn't he's with me i'm like y'all this is not new this is not new and i want to be clear

for the folks listening this morning.

This is not new information.

There were many people who were aware of this for years, not months, not weeks, but years.

And if we knew, he knew.

If we

And so before everybody started putting on a, oh, they trying to keep a brother down.

Oh, they going after his black man.

I mean, it's hard to say that because there's another black man in the race.

I'm just want to be clear.

If we knew, he knew.

And then, gations of stuff being said before any letter ever surfaced.

Capital, I heard a whole bunch of crap.

never, ever giving credence to any of it.

If you don't make a formal complaint, if you don't come forward, you know, that's not my business.

I don't have anything to do with it.

I wouldn't dare say anything like that on the, let's leave it alone.

But I'm here because I watched our community twist they sales and not, you know, why?

You know, is this fair?

And is this somebody just coming after this brother because they don't want to see him be elected?

This is new.

None of it is new.

I didn't say any of it was true.

But what I said, none of these are new.

The letter that I read to the same thing that I'm sure the Democratic Party was saying, it does not name names.

You don't know who to contact.

You don't know who to interview.

You don't know who to corroborate anything that's in this letter that was sent.

So what do I do with this?

Because you don't do anything that anybody who wanted to honestly investigate what you're saying, you don't give them nothing to work with.

And so again, you know, on that level, I would question

the way in which it was done, because if you seriously are trying to allow the public to a problem to say that this individual is a predator or this individual is dangerous or this is somebody that's unfit for office, then send a letter like that, at least give somebody something to cooperate, a name.

You know, so that's why it also was something that you don't really get to follow up with one because you can learn But there's nothing legitimately to connect him to and I remind people of that as they had a conversation But I also one of those caution people that are out here, you know with the carry it's meant to take a brother down This didn't happen for this race

It didn't happen for this race.

And this is something that candidates have to figure out how to handle.

Because I know this message out here.

Do I get out in front of it?

Do I bring it up first?

Or do I wait for the gotcha moment?

Do I wait for the, you know, let somebody else, you know, create the narrative and tell the story.

And now I'm trying to play catch up.

Position the being.

I don't envy it of anybody, but I'mma tell you, it's no way I understand the severity of these kind of allegations and somebody else tell that story before me.

I'm telling it.

So by the time the media gets ahold of it, you know, I can diffuse it or at least I get to be the first word on it because you're trying to be the governor of a dang whole state.

So, why would you need that chance?

I would just say again, I think that the people who were handling Mandela, handling his campaign, just people that were ill-equipped for him as well.

He, I'm concerned, he did not have a strong team around him.

He has not made sound decisions.

And I'm gonna be, it was a little bit of janky and shadiness for me because,

U.S.

Senate race.

Right now for him and the path was being clear for him.

I don't care how many people deny it.

I know what I saw.

I know what I heard both in state and out of state about how candidates were being pressured to come up out of that race.

I know what he was doing, Mandela, to help, you know, try to get David to get out of the race in this race.

Because, you know, it was going muddy to water.

It's

a

clear pathway to wind.

So I wouldn't know that stuff is out there.

It's just jacked up.

When it's you, that's not a talking.

Don't cry now.

So I'm just telling y'all now, don't nobody feel sorry for Mandela.

Please don't waste energy feeling sorry for Mandela.

Because in 2022, he was the beneficiary of people playing games on his behalf.

He was the beneficiary of qualified people being asked to get out of the race so that he would have a clear shot to the U.S.

Senate seat.

That people that wanted to pick our leaders for us and people that wanted to, you know, to anoint him and

you know, squashing by the elves that had aspirations even within their own party.

Do not cry for Mandela Barnes today.

And if you already shared tears, you need to go get a refill.

Because A, this is the game, as I say it on social media, is dirty.

And a lot of these people are willing to play this game

because the rewards, the potential outcome, the power and the influence is worth it to them.

But when you get bumped up by this game, you better learn how to take it on the chain and keep moving.

The thing that's frustrating about what's happening with Mandela Barnes, you're done now.

You're done.

It's a wash.

You can't run for nothing never again.

Ain't nobody getting ready to take a chance on you, put no money behind you.

You literally have tore up all your political capital in this moment, even before the allegations come out.

The stuff with this letter come out.

So whatever future you thought you had in politics, it is a wrap.

You're done.

You're done.

I don't know how anybody may write mine ever writes another campaign check to this dude.

And there are some people who are on the sidelines that are laughing or smiling or at the very least looking sideways because they know when it benefited him, he didn't have no problem with the game as it is being played.

So it's a bunch of y'all on Facebook.

I encourage you to press.

To find something else to be passionate about.

But debating this,

conversation?

It's not popular to say it in that way, waste of time.

The only question now for me,

is the infamous Martin Luther King, but you know, apply specifically, where do we go from here?

What's getting ready to happen now?

188,000, I think like 1.3 or 1.6 million people typically vote in a statewide race and a president.

I think it's doing a presidential.

I gotta go pull the numbers.

I'm gonna see if I can do it during the break of what we typically see about way of votes cast.

in a gubernatorial election.

So I'm gonna go see.

But potentially we got 20% of the votes that have already been cast.

So don't know what that looks like and who would be impacted in that way?

But let me be clear, there has to be a question about where do we go from here?

Is David Quali going to be the beneficiary

of Mandela being um you know removing himself from the race is that going to how much support will he get?

Francesca Hong got heavy hitters on the far left coming in to support her Ilhan Omar and you know one influencer I don't even like follow dudes I don't even know like

I wouldn't have brought them in for me, but that train has left the station on Francesca Hall.

That train has left the station.

It was doing 40% in these numbers.

Can Crawley make up ground from 7% to maybe picking up

until these people really get these polling booths and really make these decisions, you can kind of look at the data and make some predictions, some guesses, some of them educated and informed based on the data.

But a lot of people are gunshot of doing it because when Trump is up winning, walked out of the polling booth and alive about who they have supported,

or who they lied on the front end of planning to support a vote for a whole bunch of posters and people who use those polls to make predictions got gunshot.

Because you don't want egg on your face.

There's political strategies that you're saying there is no clear pathway.

So before I went to the break, talking about the whole situation, where do we go from here?

in relationship to the upcoming, we're going to tell me to be clear, y'all, it's other stuff on the ballot.

It really is.

I will talk as we come out of this primary and go into the fall direction, because we've got the three referendums on the ballot that literally would change the state constitution around diversity, equity, inclusion, one of them in particular.

So there are things, this isn't the only

you know, thing we should be talking about.

Therefore, we have primary that are on the ballot in, you know, on a ballot round, which is primary, contests, races, to get people that haven't voted already, you know, information to make sure we can help you move forward.

The thing that I would say

about now with Francesca Hong, DC, David Quali, and Joe Brennan being the last people, or the last four now, left standing in this red, is this is not an easy win for anybody.

The number of people that are under

at this point in the game.

What are we nine days away from the election?

It's kind of crazy.

You would have thought most people would have figured out a camp by now and started, you know, playing, talking with friends.

But I've been talking to people.

I've heard people talking to folks in their family and folks are still saying, man, I don't know.

I don't know.

I don't know.

or folks who are like, man, I already cast my ballot.

My post is not in the race no more.

So it's crazy to be in this situation.

I will say this.

And their folks seriously want to see David quality, ascend,

get

busy.

Because the data right now does not support a win.

I don't care who comes running indoors.

I don't get who that was.

What's going to make the difference to vote and people encouraging family members, folks that don't get up and go vote.

Last week, somebody kept saying on one of my text messages says, it's going to be the person that can get folks off the couch.

That's going to win.

They were still undecided.

It is August 3rd.

We are eight days from an election.

Three out of five of my friends are still undecided.

Because you literally, and I think that the race now comes down to David, Kuali and Francesca Hall.

I honestly think that it comes to people just because

The polling numbers have just been too low for Kelda, too low for Joe Browning to be realistic in the point, I should say, viable candidates.

How can you come from 2% in all polling?

That's crazy.

That's crazy chances.

But it goes into support.

Because don't miss.

I will make that point clear.

But right now, the way I see it, it's down to these two candidates.

And there will be folks that will say, I like both of them.

You know, I'm familiar with, I'm talking to people like in Milwaukee or out of the city that know DC.

But don't even know Francesca nearly as well as they know DC, but they'll tell you I like both of them Francesca was on a show and they were talking about she was a radical, you know that she'd been called a radical and she responded, you know Radical is the fact that we still pay people $7.25 an hour in this country for minimum wage Radical is the fact that she got all these people in Wisconsin with no health care Radical is and she just went down this laundry list of no, this is what's radical

It is that kind of talk that people who are in crisis and struggling and trying to figure it out, but y'all, I feel the car while we've been here on the aisle.

Now, the car does take premium.

It was $120.

We've got a hundred and twenty dollars to fill up for a tank of gas.

A hundred and twenty dollars.

Now, everything is higher on the island.

You try to fill up before you get here, but we've been doing a bunch of rippity running.

So inevitably, we had to fill up while we was here.

But the stuff that she's talking about, like folks are saying, you know, it was like a fault of the, no, she's breaking it down.

Issue by issue and what this looks like So it's resonating with people who even you know A year ago they all know this woman's name six months ago, you know still may not know her name, but now Like she said what I got a piece of lit.

I've had knocks at my door Her people are enthusiastic Perhaps me

And you got DC.

People are saying the job is done here in the county.

You know, they know nothing, you know, crazy has happened on his watch.

They believe that this guy is a good guy.

They trust DC.

You know, you don't feel like he's going to nothing crazy.

So if people that's legitimately torn between who they want to support in this upcoming race.

But I'm gonna say it again if you are somebody who wants to see David Crawley win you better get busy Because the numbers are not only you better get busy Before he got out of the race the first time What the people who could have helped who didn't help

And I don't mean with an endorsement.

I mean with money.

I mean with volunteer hours.

I mean with yard signs.

All the things that make it.

It wasn't getting that kind of history.

Now.

It seems like people are more receptive to doing some of them things.

It's a damn shame.

You get out the race and get back in the race.

So to come.

But okay, so we're gonna look a good force in the mouth for the people that support DC, but I'm gonna tell y'all right now This game is far from over.

It will be a turnout situation Francesca has already demonstrated Francesca Hong has already demonstrated.

She got a physical infrastructure in place to help turn out Not money on commercials and ads

but a physical infrastructure is in place.

I don't know how how tight DC's physical infrastructure is.

Actual volunteers knocking on doors, boots on the ground, folks going to speak on his behalf, sir gets going out for him.

I don't know.

I don't know.

I saw Congresswoman Moore came out from a lot of the other state major players have not endorsed this race.

So it's just.

It's just interesting.

But I'm in this piece of it.

But if you, if you put a hope in a wish, a thinking, a belief, this is out to work.

Boots on the ground, around, talking to people, not going to endure them.

This is what you're trying to do.

You don't have to get busy and busy So since I've been speaking about brothers, let me go on and throw another one into the mix Summer Milwaukee City attorney chairman Spencer We saw on the news that my man, I call me Let me say this

When Tim is still on City Attorney, I will admit I was shocked.

Because, you know, I just didn't see it coming.

The Great Lightning had been in forever.

You know, I knew something different.

He is a brother that potentially

I'm sorry, y'all.

Here's a brother that potentially, you know, went ahead, black man city, when you say the attorney, okay, you see it.

People watching this do liars, you make me nervous.

You make me nervous.

The way you talk, the way you move, you make me nervous.

And anybody listening to my story on a regular basis, you know, me and Keon had a running joke, like,

because he was too cocky and uh to me not conscientious about protocol in the rules and you playing in an arena that you really hadn't played in before because it's one thing if i'm a lawyer and i'm doing legal stuff it's another thing to be a politician and and

and you walk and you move differently, or you share it, when you're politicized, it's a regular job, because optics can kill you.

Optics can kill you.

Optically, there are things about Tiananmen that are just like, you silly, and it's gonna come back to get you.

There's a level of confidence and arrogance in the way you move,

that's not going to benefit you.

And so here we sit, that after a trial, which started back on July 27th, a jury has come back and convicted Kim and Spencer of a felony.

I'm going to pull directly from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article about them.

So this man is 69 years old.

And he got found guilty of misconduct in public office, which is a felony.

He is going to be awaiting sentencing on this.

I think it could be up to two years in prison.

And then there's a financial fine that is possible as a result of it.

All of this is in connection to property.

that he once owned and DNS, Department of Neighborhood Services, were trying to inspect the property.

And they argued that he used his position as a city attorney for personal gain.

The jury, eight women for men, they acquitted him of a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

So they, nobody said that he lied to anybody or did anything crazy.

I'm just telling y'all, right now, it's not over for him.

He still is facing additional charges.

So I don't know, like, you know, if you get to appeal the decision of this jury, I'm sorry, yeah, this jury, this outcome, this case, or what goes on.

And some people are unclear about, so what exactly did he do?

But this goes back all the way to 2024 when he got charged.

So back in 2020, Spencer sold a building to a local Milwaukee businessman before he got elected to be city attorney in 2020.

Okay.

As a part of that agreement, Spencer was allowed to continue to store a collection of cars he had on the property as a part of his agreement.

So you own this building or this, you know,

whatever it was, you show it to somebody.

One of the things that y'all agree, you know, the guy say, you know, uh, you could, you could still throw your cards here.

I'm okay with it for now.

And so Spencer said on the witness stand that he was told, he told the guy, you need an occupancy permit to store his vehicles.

He said under oath he researched the matter and that such a permit wasn't necessary.

So all of this gives down to you utilizing attorneys in the office to research an issue.

You don't tell these attorneys in your office that you have a personal stake in this situation.

And you are accused of using the city of Milwaukee taxpayer funded lawyers as your own personal attorney.

You know this misconduct in public office that that's and so people like what that's not that awful and It is if you you know Got taxpayers Doing I mean taxpayer funded attorneys doing work for you personally.

That's raggedy.

Oh, it's 18 months in two up to two years behind bars and 18 months of the supervision

along with the $10,000 fine.

That's what he could be looking at.

He's going to be sentenced on September 11th.

But as I said, if not over, be charged with four other felonies in October of 2025.

This is one of the case.

And in that case, he was a partner to obtain a Milwaukee property improperly.

and then trying to flip it for a larger profit.

So in the court filings, we'll say Agent Kinard Rags are said to have persuaded a Milwaukee man to bypass probate court and sell the property from his family's estate for $8,000, even though it was worth.

Now this case is gonna be heard in Walker Shark County.

The thing and this is what I just find so so You need to take a shower after you you talk about it So you are brother in the community and You are accused of Taking advantage of another brother by offering them this poultry summer money

$8,000 for a property that said to be worth significantly more.

Now those significant is $80,000, $100,000.

I don't know what the number is, $50,000.

But see, why are you trying to take advantage of people?

And if it's between, you know, I made it out on that deal, then I just straight robbed somebody.

He's not been found guilty, but I am aware of the situation.

Because he's been out there.

So I don't know what happened or didn't happen.

But if it did happen, it's raggedy.

And whatever happened to him, he deserves.

We have a game system for personal benefit.

We want to do it every day.

We can return them to the children, your bull, your wife, everybody making money while the American people is trying to figure out how to pay for basic necessities.

The roof over their heads.

And if you're gonna be listening your

kids

Well all of this hits very differently because number one is the first brother to get

We'll see what happens in the opinion of the decision, you know, about a jury and the findings of the court and its most recent case, but he didn't have to be here.

And this is the thing.

If you're going to get taken out, get taken out for some real stuff.

Don't get taken out because I'm having people do work that I could have hired somebody to do for me.

That's just the first case.

You catch a felony.

It's too damn cheap to hire somebody to do your work for you.

Come on, man.

I'm going to catch a felony for something I could have paid for.

Ridiculous.

But Cheyenne Jackson, anytime a man name will come up,

And the time he came to the studio, Keon just wanted to be like, he won't play him.

And he would want to say it to his face.

He'll be like, Keon, don't do that.

Or he would want to say it on the air.

And I'm like, Keon, don't do that.

And he'll be like, oh, is it too soon?

Is it too soon?

But we knew it.

So not surprised at this outcome.

I'm not going to be surprised if he gets convinced over.

Don't play yourself over.

I've been going to jail.

I've definitely been going to jail over no forces like this.

This nonsense.

And with some people,

Who can afford to do things the right way?

You know, this is just greedy.

I'm trying to deal with cocaine.

You trying to buy a property from somebody and to cook them to make a ridiculous profit.

And you go to sleep at night, she did somebody like that.

It's one thing like, oh yeah, I got 5,000 out of deal, more than I expected.

I got 30,000 out of deal, more than I expected.

But this man potentially got tens of thousands of deal out of the deal that

he.

So whatever happened to hear me, another brother, you brought it on yourself.

Another brother, you was being raggedy.

Another brother who thought the rules didn't apply to you.

You were smarter than a gang.

You know, you could manipulate it.

You could do it.

You could make it work for you.

And now you're about to be, you know, um, it's nothing else, uh, on it's, uh, on supervision, on parole with some nonsense.

How does it impact your law license?

I, you know, I don't know.

I don't know what happened when you catch felonies.

Um, well, wait, I do know cause we see Gary Orch.

Who sees people catch cases.

And some people can go to jail, get out, and you're able to go back and get their law degree back.

I mean, get their law license back.

So it don't mean it's the end of the world, but just something you don't think you're gonna have to go through.

I would say that all day.

Somebody just sent me something saying, yeah, they say they started building for over 200.

That was the number I was looking for.

So let's just say this together.

You and I'm wondering this man who he did to deal with this man was like special needs cognitively delayed, you know, slow a little bit.

I'm sure I'll be disrespectful because you just don't understand the law.

You only bought that for eight grand.

I don't know how any of that works.

But the idea was seeing it together.

Spencer knew that house was worth eight more to eight thousand dollars if he did what they are.

Let me keep putting fire if you did what they are letting that he did You buy this house for 8 grand and then you flip it for $200,000 you get them past toll day court like oh Come on y'all You deserve everything you get if you did that if I Tell you right now
