Family Natural Foods – August ‘25

Rapids Report · Wed Aug 13, 2025

Hello world, welcome to WFHR's Rapid Support for this August 13th, 2025.

Have your host James here.

We're going to thank our friends over at Crock Accepted, sponsoring this hour and giving

us a chance to talk to people like our good friends, family really, family natural foods

joining us right now.

Steve and Katrina Hintner.

Hey guys, how you doing?

Great.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot for being here.

Appreciate the time.

I always appreciate the work that you guys put into the community and open up to the community.

I want to thank you personally for sponsoring, being a co-sponsor on playmakers and helping

us promote sports in this area and the tie-in of our local athletes and their health and

bringing those worlds together.

We really appreciate that and appreciate hanging out with you and talking about some fun

topics here and wherever we go with live radio, of course.

Oh yeah.

Where are we going to go?

Where are we going to start?

Where are we going to start?

Where are we going to start?

That's the boss.

Oh, who knows?

Somebody's supposed to be driving.

That's right.

Okay, I'll drive for a little while.

Sure, it's like a magic school bus with James Lawson.

Absolutely.

It's one of his previous times.

Are we going back to that again?

I think that you guys just stopped laughing last time.

I guess it's me driving the magic school bus because I'm going to lead us on this one for

a little while.

Yeah, that's right.

Actually, Miss Frizzle...

She didn't actually drive it.

Right.

She was...

She was like an educator who was on the bus, like, curating the experience.

Right.

Somebody was driving that bus.

I got to go back and watch it episode.

The lizard, I don't know.

Maybe?

Yeah, maybe.

No presentations coming up since I'm going to drive this bus right now for a little while.

So we're going to talk about the herb walk, which is happening in September, which I'm

sorry, but September is coming up soon, everyone, good or bad, cool.

But September 16th at 430, this is an herb walk that's going to be primarily Jamie and

Stephen are doing this one.

I think so.

Yeah, it'll be fun.

It's going to be great.

We did it last year.

We had a good turnout.

And we just had fun.

We're doing a different time of year.

So it'll be different herbs.

Jamie said something that was kind of profound to me.

She said, in summer, I forget if it was a certain month, but let's just say it was summer.

Every day, there's a different flower that blooms, and I was like, that's pretty cool.

And a lot of these are medicinal.

In fact, just this last weekend, Jamie was picking St. John's Whart flowers, the blossom

of the flowers, and she was putting an oil to do an extraction.

And we sell a St. John's Whart oil at our store.

It's wonderful.

Great for sore muscles.

Yeah, pain, neuropathy kind of thing.

It also has some kind of like antiviral things, so like, I don't know, like shingles, something

like that.

It's something I would reach for this, this, you know, really traditional thing.

The color is beautiful.

The color is beautiful.

That's what I was trying to get.

It's like bright red.

Yeah.

You know?

It's just this gorgeous red tone.

It has like a little bit of like a bluish, like purplish tinge in there, but like mostly

this red tone.

And like, she just sent a picture.

I'm sure in person, it was even more, you know, vibrant.

But that's a flower that she literally picked in her backyard.

Probably most people mow it with their lawn mower, you know, I don't know if it's exactly

a weed, but it's in that category.

But she's, yeah, to some, perhaps, but you know, that's what we're going to get into at

Lake Wazeech as walking around, just seeing these things that we've walked past our whole

life, perhaps maybe stepped on a few times, and what they, what they could be beneficial

for.

It's all around us.

Yeah.

That's going to be September 16th at 4.30, and it's going to be at Lake Wazeech

or Red Sands, meet at the pavilion.

Bring your kids to.

So yesterday, I'm on a bike ride with my six-year-old, and I'm like, oh, do you see those?

Do you see that jewelweed growing over there?

We're biking, and she's like, you know what that means.

I go, what does that mean?

She goes, Poison Ivy's near.

Because Poison Ivy and Jewelry'd have a really close relationship, but I just loved

that my six-year-old was like putting two and two together.

That's right.

Because Poison Ivy, so Jewelweed helps with the itch of Poison Ivy, so they often

grow in close proximity because they can heal as well as make you go crazy and itch.

Wow.

It's going to go a while.

Mother Nature provides the remedy for the problem.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So bring your kids because they can learn something, and I think they have fun, right?

It's outside worst case.

They can go play at the playground and enjoy that.

That's true.

It's going to be a nice day in September, hopefully.

Yeah, maybe it'll be nice to bring your swimsuits.

Who knows?

I know for me, I've always admired a lot of the kids at

a group around here that could look at a plant and knew what it was, and just point

and know what it is, or just the same thing with trees, and being able to identify those

or anything.

Even something like that to be able to add to your brain and all that is fun.

Along with nowadays, so many people are looking for ways to make their own things, or whatever

that might be.

A lot of that is already here given to us by the Earth.

Yeah, and that's something we'll talk about is like, hey, here's plantain.

Here's how it's growing, or where it's growing, how to identify it.

But this is what I would do with plantain.

This is what I would use it for.

Yeah, Jamie wanted to get into some of that, not only a different season, different plants

this time than last time.

She wanted to give people a next step layout, and so that'll be fun, too, it'll be interesting

to see where that goes with the project, too.

Yeah, so September 16th at 4.30, Red Sand's Beach, come and learn, maybe wear some

bug spray.

Mark your calendars.

Yeah, yeah, for sure.

And then just add it to your calendar as well.

It's our 79th anniversary sale.

It's October 3rd and 4th, so we'll be celebrating.

We'll be giving lots of sales.

Lots of door prizes will happen.

Fun.

Usually there's tastings of some sort.

We'll get into the nitty-gritty details, but just put on your calendar.

It's the first Friday and Saturday of October 3rd and 4th.

Nobody does anniversary sales like you guys.

You definitely want to mark those down, everybody, because those are coming up right around

the corner.

You did, then you realize.

Not ready for yet.

No.

No.

No.

And we're not that ready for back to school, maybe, but we've got to get ready.

We do have to get ready for back to school, and with that, there's some back to school sales

that are happening, as well as some other ones that we may highlight, like some of our favorites

of it.

And before we dive back to school, we're putting up like a summer sale table of just different

things that are worth checking out.

So kind of come in for that, as well as check out our sale board that has all sorts of

different things, including back to sale for school kids and adults for certain things

going back.

Usually we do a lot of the kids stuff two months, because we do it this month in preparation,

right?

But then we also do it next month in, okay, my kids in school, and oh, I didn't realize

they had an issue with focusing.

And so we try to do it for this two months, because there's that-

People chance to do it both ways, because there's always going to be something that pops

up that you didn't prepare or realize.

Just going back to the summer sale, I always enjoy looking through these, I'm probably

in like the first person excited to kind of dig through this, because it's kind of

sale things that were like maybe like discontinuing or we overstocked on or whatever it is.

But they're obviously, they're usually a very deep sale, and you sometimes look at it

and you find something you didn't realize you could use.

You read this out of the bottle and you're like, oh, actually, this would be handy to

have around the house, or I'm going to try taking this and see if I get more energy

or something from it.

It's just kind of a fun, it's a fun kind of thing.

It's sort of like if you go to TJ Maxx and you're like, I went in there, you can't really

go to TJ Maxx saying you're going to go for like a very specific thing, but you go there

kind of looking to see what's around.

Yes.

There's a little TJ Maxx happening, probably just for like the next couple of weeks here

at my family, naturally.

TJ Maxx.

Is that how you're selling it?

That's it.

I mean, it is kind of like that, right?

You know, when you're talking about especially items that you've been on the fence one

to try, or you've been thinking about it and you've been chewing on it and all this,

and now it's finally in front of you, and it's discounted, and you're like, oh, that's

a good place to try.

It's a good time to try.

That is like me close shopping 101, man.

I thought you would have been following me around when I'm in TJ Maxx, and you nailed

that so well.

Yeah.

It was, we thought it was a reach at first, but you got there.

You got there right away, and then you were right on with that.

Yeah, you're willing to take more risks on it, too.

So, my...

Yeah.

I also, I appreciate when we're talking about back to school something that you guys have

done for a long time as well as, yes, we focus on the kids and we want the kids to be

ready and all that, but the parents are also a big part of this and making sure that

they're setting ready to go with whatever they might need.

Absolutely.

So, maybe you're a parent that's in school as well, so you're going back to school for

another degree, or maybe just classes that you have to do for a six-week course, so

you might have more stress anxiety, stress about that, or maybe you're a teacher, and

you're around the peachy dish of sickness all the time, so there's that component as well,

or your rhythm was different in summer, and now you get back to that summer or that

fall feel, and you're like, oh my gosh, I'm way more stressed because I have to get

this and that, and my kids newly into school, or this is our fifth year of school, and

I just, you know, we get more stress because now there's more time constrictions, right?

We have to drop off by a certain point.

We have to pick up by a certain point.

Oh, and then my kids in five other sports that you're running all around, so in summer,

usually there's less of that, there's a little less time restrictions, so I think, you

know, for anybody, kids or adults, I think if you're stressed, angiocalm is a great place

to go, this is a Terry product, love, love, love it, kids as young as four, and then up

can take it, and pets even, and pets even as well, and so it's great, so maybe those pets

are feeling your energy, and they're like, they're stressed out for your back to school

time too.

Yes, yeah, yeah, that's a great, well, we don't have a man and think about the pets, that's

a good point.

They pick up that energy too.

One percent, especially dogs, yeah.

Dogs are very interested in that.

Dogs can pick up on it, they just won't care, they don't joke, I'm joking, but they

care, they care, they care scared, they just don't show it as much, they don't show it

the same way.

We've also got stuff like Regin scenes on sale right now, which is a really amazing product

from Terry Natural, money back here in tea, just like the angiocalm, you know, for stress

and anxiety, you can try it, no risk, money back here in tea, but the Regin scene energy,

we saw a ton of this in the summertime, I'm always amazed by that, like we sell it

year round really well, but in the summer, people just want to do more, and the days are

longer, there's more to do, and now going into the school year, you're probably finding

yourself like, I could use a little more energy, so Regin scenes on sale, we've got a lot

of brain supplements like adult ones that are on sale, so if you need to like focus, just

to like get your day to day stuff done, or you want to, you know, or if you're going

back to school or learning something new, these are great, there's also these focus

bites.

Yeah, there's these new focus bites, which I just tried for the first time, because one

of our staff members has been trying it and really loves them, just focusing in, yeah,

it's called focus bites, it's by natural staffs, thank you Stephen, and this one they

suggest that it's 19 and up versus like a younger, even though it's chewable, but it's got

some really interesting, it's got this something called para-thining, and it's, it's like

a derivative of caffeine, but it's going to make you focus, it's not going to make

you jittery, excited, and so on, but it helps you with the focus part of it, and I tried

it, I really did find, I only did one, and you could take one to two, and I really did

find myself was like so much more focused in that, yeah, I was way more locked in.

So this was, this is a cool one that's new for us and new to the company too, it's only

been around for a couple of months.

These kids have trouble with focus, most adults have trouble with focus, yeah, yeah, yeah,

so this is a great answer, we had a hard time trying to figure out what we were going

to talk about on radio, we should have just been like take a couple of videos, and the

ingredient that's in the focus bite is also in our pre-workout, and it, you know, has

benefits for athletes, or just people want to get a little more out of their workout,

that's pre-workout has really great ingredients also on sale this month, but all clinically

studied ingredients, that's what that focus bite is, it's a well researched ingredient

for, for creating focus and optimizing, in this case, your workout, so you can check

those out too if you want to, you know, use it in a little different way.

Yeah, and like maybe this one, maybe you have a son that's in like high school football,

like this could be a great pre-workout formula to take just to get more out of it, as well

as that like sustained energy and focus, like it's a double, like it can help with so

many different things.

When I was in football, my dad would make these concoctions for me and my buddy, and it's

a lot better than that, I care to you, I care to you, it's a lot, it tastes a lot better

too, I probably, yeah, go there.

He was on it though, I'm sure, he was like try this, he was trying, you watch Rocky too

many times, that's a lot of problems, some raw eggs, it's exactly, chasing a chicken,

I'm like yeah, one thing I wanted to say about neural products, I've used those before,

and one of the things that first brought me to them was something on their label about

results right away, I don't know if they still have that on there or not or anything,

but that was something that I, I just made me think of when it comes to products like

that, for me in my experience, more times than not, if not every time, I really do feel

a result more quickly, I know for some people that one of the things that we can lose, people

unsupplements sometimes is, oh, I didn't feel anything, I took it a month and I didn't

feel anything, and I think that there needs, that needs to be brought into the conversation

much more of, hey, this takes time for it to work, as much as when it can work right

away, just that, that benefit for people and knowing that a little bit, and sometimes

it's a patient's game and sometimes you're going to be able to feel a result real quick.

Yeah, absolutely, do you, do you make a good point?

I think most of what we've talked about today is stuff you'd notice the first time you

check it out.

You would notice pretty quickly, yeah, like the neurofuel is another like memory and focus,

you know, to help kind of bring that attention in, but yeah, I agree, all of these are really

pretty, pretty, pretty quick results for the, for all of them.

Terry makes a nice product called Calm Kids, so if your child needs a little bit more help

with mood, concentration, this is a great product, we have one in our private labels, that

is very good too, that's also like a focus and like, kind of like helping with, if you're

are, you know, maybe a little bit more ADD, ADD or ADHD, that one is very beneficial, we

sell a lot of that one, yeah, the focus ones are good, I also like to just put a little

reminder out there, like things that are also great for our brain health and memory as

well as fish whales, because we don't get enough in our diet, so we need to consume it

through either supplement or eating, I don't get enough fish, so I take it in a cell

supplement form, and so kids, they need it, it's really good for their brain as they're

growing, developing, sitting at school for a lot of hours, really concentrating on all

this education, so it's a really good one to have, and then let's just talk about it for

a minute, we can, we'll talk about it more in September, but like I said, the Petri dish

of germs, right, it happens, it's school time, we all get sick, and then everybody else gets

sick, it's just this, you know, the dominoes, the fact, so I think it's a really good time

to build your immune system right now, so then you're already having a protective guard,

I'm not saying that you're not going to get sick, but you're probably going to get, if

you do, you'll have a wheyless symptoms, as well, yep, heel faster, and you know what,

you might not even get sick when everyone's getting sick, so it's a great time, I've been

starting to just up my kids' immune vitamins a little more now, just to protect them,

going into the school year, this is good for us parents, maybe we have, there's elderly

grandparents that you're around with a lot too, we got to boost ourselves up, get that

protection.

And we'll talk more about this as we get closer and deeper in the fall, of course, and

everything, but as we're, we're already starting to lose more and more sunshine, just

vitamin D, keeping an eye on that, another thing that you can build up as we get closer

into the winter, and I learned that from Stephen and Katrina, you can, you can learn more

like things like that too, from the gang at family and natural foods, and maybe you have

questions, thoughts, things you want to know, reach out to them, they love answering questions,

they love hunting down the answers to questions, encourage you to do that, everybody, because

not every community has a resource like we do with the brains over there at family and

natural foods, take advantage of them, use them, give them a call, reach out with all your

questions and thoughts, and especially with stuff we've been talking about today, nothing

is one size fits all, and for you and your little ones and stuff, there might be something

that you might need more, you know, well, we're more interested in this, we'll reach out

to the gang, find out, they've got stuff that is much more, that's the way, that's the

whole purpose of a lot of what they're doing at family and natural foods, it's not one

size fits all, there's a lot of us, and a lot of different ways that we, you know, heal

and get better and stuff, find out how you do at family and natural foods.

We got it.

Good stuff you guys, thank you, thank you very much.

Yeah, I'm you and up, stay healthy everyone.

Yeah, we'll talk again to you real soon, thanks for joining us.

Yeah, take care.
