Welcome everybody to Midday magazine for this Wednesday April 10th, 2024.
Have your host James behind the mic. In part two at 330, today we're going to welcome
in our friend Kim Shields from Encourage. We're going to talk a little bit with Gary and Don
about the Dick Trickle Memorial project looking forward to that right now. Some of our
favorite people in studio, our friends Steven and Katrina Hintner from Family and
Afterfoods are with us. Good afternoon, you guys. Good afternoon. Hello.
Hey, how's it going? Good. How are things over at the shop?
Well, right now they're noisy and they're solid because we're getting some
concrete work done right now. So it's currently happening. So if you you come
through the store this afternoon, you're going to have to use that side door.
We have lovely signs guiding you. There's a lot of stuff blocked off by big trucks.
It's pretty obvious some doors are not so easy to get into. Yes.
But yeah, you can we'll be open the day today. We're open.
Nine to four is always. And then and it sounds like there's going to be a little more
concrete work a little later. Yeah, I was always something, right? There's always
some extra concrete stuff. So yeah, Friday, there might be you can only use the
front door versus the side door. But you know what? We'll have signs. We'll keep you
as posted. Yeah, I always like to encourage people to follow your guys' social
media accounts. I think it's a great idea because you guys do such a nice job
with that. There's a lot of fun stuff on there as well. But I know another reason
is to get updates like this. You guys did a nice job of updating people ahead of
time about it. And I have to give you credit for the post. I really like the post
that you put up there about it. We'll be getting some concrete done. And it's just a
slab of concrete. It got me. It caught me right away. I had to take a screen shot of it
just to make sure. And so I could bring it up on the morning show and everything.
I appreciate it. And actually, if you look closely, so if you go back to either
Instagram or Facebook, this photo that James is talking about, it's a picture.
If you zoom in close enough to it, it's a picture of three generations of handprints.
Yeah. So it's actually got Stevens, my dad's and my grandfather's. So it's three
generations of handprints. Yeah, I can see them there. I can see them.
Which is really cool. And we actually are having them on the other side of it.
Long story short, we'll make it quick. But on the other side, there's all five
family member hitners on the other side. And they're saving that chunk so we can
keep it in the back as a archive because I love that 78 years.
You know, we we've got some concrete and some little handprints in there.
Like my tiny hamprint. That's awesome. My kid's size.
It's got that got you guys. That's beautiful.
And I was telling you how old this concrete is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That too.
And that the work is very needed. It was actually we were working on it the last two
or three years. But like a lot of things will last a couple of two or three years.
They don't always happen. Yeah. On the schedule you were hoping they would.
So they're happening today. Yeah. But don't let that deter you.
I think Thursday pretty much all doors should be open.
It might be a little rainy. So they're not doing concrete work on Thursday.
But Friday or sometime really next week, they'll probably do a little bit more.
But it should be less disruptive by then. Yeah. Yeah.
Keep that in mind. And if you always if you feel better calling ahead and asking about
any of this, feel free to at 423-3120-423-3120.
Absolutely. So we've got some information regarding garden seeds.
We are like 98% all of our seeds. Yeah.
Pretty much everything. Everything you're looking for.
There's probably some weird thing like root a baggie that you don't even care about.
No, I think we have root a baggie.
That's good. That's good. That's good. That's good.
That's good. That's good. That's good. That's good. That's good.
That's good. That's good. That's good. That's good. That's good. That's good.
So we have all the like small garden seeds, whether it's you know,
zucchini, or squashes, or beets.
We have your green beans, your yellow beans, your beans.
Oh, Colorado. That's your favorite.
Colorado. I do like Colorado.
Can we have that one stock? I think so.
Yeah. You can eat it fresh or you can cook it.
Yeah. It's really fun. It's got to be crushed.
How about the greens?
You can eat the greens as well.
You can like stir fry them. They're great.
I wish all my interviews were with their brother and sisters.
I really did. Well, all my interviews were with their brothers and sisters.
Back in the day when Duke and the doctor used to sponsor Duke and the doctor
on the radio station, they were great because they were a husband wife team,
but they like bickered back and forth in a very husband and wife way.
So we're bringing the sibling this bickering of like,
what's your favorite vegetable? Oh, no, I thought it was that.
You know, got that angle down. Got it down.
Yeah.
But your garden seeds got it quite almost all of them.
Our potatoes are in that came in as of Monday.
So those have been in and our onions are in.
So come and get those.
We've got them.
It's time to start thinking gardening.
If you want onion plants come in right now.
Just get in your car because they'll be gone by the probably by Saturday.
It's not sooner.
Well, I want to mention it.
It's good to mention Stephen because you guys seem to go out of them quick.
Like you guys have some regulars that come by all the time for those.
Yeah, and we're selling potatoes.
I think the potatoes are going to sell a little bit quicker.
It's been warmer.
People have been itching to get out there.
So I think a lot of these seeds, you know, if you're looking for stuff,
it's stopping on the earlier side.
You know, you'll have more options.
If you wait till, you know, the end of April or something,
it'll still, there'll be still stuff there,
but not as many options, I'm sure.
Yeah, absolutely.
So we have three presentations to talk about today.
The first one, we're going to go in chronological order of when they're happening.
The first one is going to be the presentation, Stephen,
and I are doing and it's tomorrow.
So it's Thursday, April 11th,
and we're doing an afternoon time.
We're trying something new.
You know, if it's a rainy day, that's a great time to come listen to a presentation.
You don't want to be outside, walk in or something.
You want to be listening to Stephen and I talking about our trip to India with Terry Lemuron.
We're not just talking about, it was really fun.
We did this one in November and we're doing it again because it was fun.
We're talking like part travel log slash part,
like these are the products that are so good for you.
And we should all take them.
This is why they're so great.
And here's the research behind it.
And plus, you can go to India without going to India.
Because it's the easiest way to go to India.
Katrina will tell you all about what it's like to be in India.
And so you don't have to go through the challenges of it.
You can get the pack.
And you can short share in the rewards.
You don't have to pack.
You don't have to sit on a plane for like 12 hours or so.
More proper.
Here's a while.
And when you sit there and learn about these things,
we have some really great giveaways.
So yeah, there's going to be probably a lot of giveaways of this talk.
We're excited about it because there's a lot of great products that we learned about
from not just Terry, because Terry's worth so much knowledge.
And we love learning from Terry.
But the makers, I should say the scientists of Arjuna,
which is the company Terry works directly with, are like family.
They are so wonderful.
Today, I would like feel comfortable calling them and being like,
hey, Benny, I have a question about this.
And he would answer, he's the owner, the CEO of this company.
He's spent like a whole week traveling around with us
and making sure we went to the fields where the turmeric rose,
that goes into their product, that goes into the bottle,
that Terry sells on our shelf.
We buy from Terry and sell on our shelves.
It's like the whole journey was really cool to see the whole thing.
And they do a lot of research.
I mean, it's probably one of the biggest companies Terry works with,
not the only one, but certainly one of the biggest and one of the ones
that really put him and put both these partners on the map.
And that's why I think there's such a close connection.
And we really felt that.
And we became part of the family there.
I mean, we were, I guess we shouldn't smell too much.
We can't share everything.
You guys have to come tomorrow, Thursday, April 11th at 1 p.m.
By the end of our visit, we were invited to a wedding.
I'll leave it at that.
That's how close we were.
Yeah.
You know, I don't get randomly invited to weddings too often.
No, it doesn't happen.
You're like, you and Bill Murray, that's it.
It doesn't happen very often.
It speaks to the industry, I think, too.
You know, people get into this industry because they care about people.
Yeah.
Nobody gets into this industry because they want to be a Rockefeller.
They want to be a billionaire or something.
You get into this because you care about people.
And when you start there, you're only going to find more and more people
with good hearts and good vibes, good energy.
So it's not too surprising.
A little surprising to get invited to a wedding, certainly.
But it is, it is nice to hear.
I think that in this day and age, it's always good to hear good energy
like that and good, good thoughts like that.
Yeah, absolutely.
So that one's tomorrow at 1 p.m.
So Thursday at 1 p.m.
Come learn of Stephen and I.
Yeah.
The next one is going to be on May 7th at 515.
And we're going to have our friends True Grace,
so another wonderful Wisconsin company.
We're focusing on a lot of the wonderful things they do.
They're very innovative.
They're always thinking about the environment with what they do.
But they have a really great like Whole Foods multi
and these awesome mushroom supplements.
They're just really good quality.
Yeah.
They're going to tell their story of why they're a company that you want.
They want to have in your world.
For all the folks who were really interested in mushrooms,
and maybe came to our mushroom talk that was,
when was that in December January, something like that.
Yeah.
This would be the one to come to as well,
because this is a company that's making a mushroom supplement.
And it's one of the few that when we kind of tested them
and how we switch, we've talked about them already before.
But anyways, a lot of the mushrooms supplements,
a lot of the ones that are in fancy foods or drinks you mix
or whatever, it's like they don't usually pass the test.
Yeah.
These guys did.
Every single one of their products did, and they're really great.
So, you know, that's why we carry them on the shelf.
We saw a lot of it.
And if you want to learn about mushrooms,
you want to learn about what makes a good omega-3 supplement,
which is good for your whole body.
Everybody can benefit from omega-3s.
I think actually all their products are just really foundational.
Fondational, definational things,
and kind of family nutrition.
Like they have some kids, baby line.
You know, like they're kind of, they're trying to make it like a family.
Good quality family line.
You can just stay with them a whole brand.
You can see how it's a family-owned company.
It's actually a woman-owned company.
It's owned by the wife that started the company.
But she's so busy running the company.
She's sending her husband to talk about it.
Certainly, I've met him before.
He's a great guy.
You know, he's tall.
Yeah.
So, maybe some time we'll get the older version.
Yeah.
But yeah, really, really fun company and innovative,
trying new things.
People who buy their products, they come back and they buy them over and over.
It really feels like, and with mushrooms in particular,
we're finding out more uses for them and making the most of them.
Yeah.
Like more and more as we're going forward here.
It seems like we're talking about them more and more.
Yeah, they're a wonderful adaptogen,
which we'll talk about adaptogens in a little bit.
Last presentation, but finale presentation.
Yes, yes, drop roll please.
We have Terry coming back everyone.
Terry Lemeron himself.
That's right.
Coming back to Wisconsin Rapids.
Y'all, if you haven't seen him.
This is the third time he's coming and I feel so honored.
Last time we questioned, I don't know if he'll come again,
but he's coming again.
Please.
Yeah.
Write it down.
Mark your calendars.
It's going to be on Wednesday, May 29th at 5.15.
We're so pumped to have him back again.
Yeah.
He speaks nationwide and he's coming to Rapids to speak to us.
Yeah, it's really cool.
And it's going to be wonderful.
This man is always learning new things.
Yeah.
He is on the road going to new places often.
Yeah.
And he's just, he's got so much innovation.
He's coming up with all these ideas.
He's just, we just love him.
And we're happy to have him come back again.
This is going to be a bigger event.
Terry brings a crowd as he should.
So our space at the store is a little too small.
We've been really fortunate to use our friends at the church.
It's the, it's the first Baptist church.
It's right behind us.
That's gorgeous.
So beautiful.
Yeah, just a short walk.
So it's really the best, you know, very comfortable, you know, like, like any, any nice church.
It's very comfortable to sit at.
The sound is good.
Everything works.
So we just kind of show up there.
And they've been really great to host us every time.
And usually we've got, you know, close to 100 people at these events.
So you kind of want to, you kind of want to have plenty of space and comfort.
And it's been really nice.
Something great to you about Terry, not only his knowledge, right?
But they bring a lot of stuff.
He has these packets for everybody when they come.
Because Terry wants people to have the research and the information in their hands.
So everybody's going away with this wonderful packet.
We typically do a couple drawings.
There'll be discounts.
Most of our presentations afterwards, we're doing discounts on things.
Or giveaways.
And so, you know, with it, we're going to probably hype it up more.
We're hoping to have one of our local beef providers after the event to kind of come through and have like a little bit more of it.
We might do some other food things.
So we were talking about that in the car on the way here too.
It was just like, hey, what other things can we make this kind of be like a special event?
And Terry, he's a guy who wakes up really early.
So he'll stick around afterwards.
He always does.
But he'll stick around and he'll answer questions, you know, after the talk.
But then he'll like, you know, if you want to get a picture with him or just like shake his hands the last time,
there's a lot of people talking to him about like how much his products and his knowledge change their life.
Which is always really touching and he appreciates all that.
So he'll be there.
But we also just want to make it a fun event.
So people can like hang out, try some different foods, you know, kind of some appetizer sort of thing.
And, you know, make it make an evening of it.
You know, we got some, we got, we got a lot of knowledge to share.
And of course, there'll be probably some of our biggest sales for that event.
As there has been in the past for anyone who has been there before they know where I'm talking about.
I can't really say the number on the way.
Right, right.
But we, you know, especially because we've done these a couple of times.
We know they're good sales.
We know they're going to be good sales.
It is not very often that you can have one of the Godfathers of an industry.
Come to your town.
Right.
Usually you're going to see them.
You're going to Milwaukee.
You're going to Madison, something like that.
Some were further.
Absolutely.
The fact that this is not just the third time he's done something like this is not just a credit to this community.
And then supporting not only family, not your foods, but these types of products and everything.
But a credit to you guys and your staff and your team.
He's not coming here just to see us.
I want you guys to take some credit for that because you guys never take any credit for anything.
Thank you.
But you, your family, what you guys have done for this community, it all adds up to something like this where of course Terry's coming back here.
Of course he is.
He gets treated great.
He has a good time here and he's able to spread his message.
The message that you guys are spreading as well.
And making our community more healthy.
I'm not surprised he's coming.
I will say, and I say this with all the love I have in me, that at his age doing these things,
it also adds to that.
Like Terry's not going to get the mail unless he has to.
Like he's coming here because that's how much it means to him to be able to do that.
He said it's like mid-80s.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's a full life for anybody.
But this is a guy who, you know, practices what he breaches.
Yeah.
He's been doing this, I don't know, since he was probably in his mid-20s.
I think his 20-30s, he kind of got back in.
So let's say 50 years of knowledge and experience.
Traveling the world, doing research, he's writing books.
He's still writing books.
And he's coming.
When it's not cast.
He's very, you know, he's very healthy.
We travel around India with him.
I don't know how many 85.
I wouldn't want to be in India in 85.
Maybe even five years from now, I don't want to go to India.
It's exhausting traveling, especially to other parts of the world.
But, you know, he's doing it.
But we never like to take these things for granted.
You know, we all have.
Yes.
We've got a lot of friends, family members we know who got up in age.
And we said, oh, well, I'll see them.
You know, I'll see them next year.
I'll catch them at the next holiday.
You know, I'm a little busier right now or something.
And then sure enough, the next holiday comes around.
And they're not in the same health.
You know, their memories, not the same.
And I'm not saying any of this with Terry.
No, this is all the more.
This is a lesson that we all need to reflect on.
Reminders for our own lives.
It's like, you know, if you've always thought, hey, I'd like to,
I'd like to hear from Terry.
I'd like to meet him.
I'd like to thank him for this product that changed my life.
You know, come.
Yeah.
No time like the present.
I do love the idea of Terry just walking up there.
Like, I'm 85.
Look at me.
My products work.
Okay.
You can tell my product.
Like, that's it.
End of speech like that.
Fight drop.
Yeah.
Because it's true.
That would work for me.
That's enough proof for me.
And there's going to be a great conversation and always insight
and really fresh information as well.
So looking forward to this.
This is going to be a good one.
It's going to be great.
So let's dabble in adrenal health.
Let's give them one more time.
Oh, yeah.
Let's.
Okay.
So it's on Wednesday, May 29th at 5.15 pm.
Meet the man himself, Terry.
That's lemon.
Right after the holiday on Monday.
Mm-hmm.
Two days after it'll be on Wednesday.
Yep.
So yeah, come, come in.
And obviously we'll be doing more reminders.
Yeah.
We'll be spread the word about that.
But I, you know, this is the first time we've put on the radio.
So Mark your calendar.
Mm-hmm.
It'll be good time.
Yeah.
Sure.
Let's jump in to things that can really support our adrenals.
Things that are like, help heal our adrenals.
Mm-hmm.
So the thing about adrenals, that's really interesting.
So this is kind of a, it's a small organ that's kind of overlooked.
And a lot of people probably don't know what it is or where it is in your body.
And there's all sorts of things in our body.
Okay.
What does that thing do in my body?
Yeah.
I've heard of it.
But the adrenals are, adrenals are kind of one of those real small organs that we can kind of overlook.
So we know our kidneys, right?
They filter our blood.
And then, you know, the kidneys, whatever they filter out goes into the urine, you know,
into our bladder and et cetera.
You know that story.
But right on top of the kidneys is this small organ.
I'm trying to think how big this is.
You know, maybe the size of a quarter.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's a map very big.
There's two of them.
So there's one on each kidney.
And this organ does so many little things that are easily overlooked.
Easily confused.
And I think that's why this is something we wanted to bring up today.
We, a lot of it is related to stress.
Like a tree not just introduced, but even more than that.
Like if your adrenals are healthy, if your body is healthy in general, you know,
you can like have a stressful event and you can, you can bounce back, you know,
minutes later, hours later, days later, you know, you can bounce back easily.
But if you, if you have adrenal fatigue or adrenal burnout,
does another word for it, you are just kind of chronically fatigued.
And any kind of stressful event just depletes you completely.
I think a lot of us during the, the, the COVID pandemic became, you know,
chronically fatigued.
Yes.
And I think a lot of the people that experienced or are continuing to experience,
unfortunately, post, what do they call it?
Long COVID.
Yeah.
Long COVID symptoms, you know, those are really similar to chronic fatigue.
I talked to a doctor, he's a medical doctor, Dr. Tidal Ball.
And he's, he's been a long time researcher of, of chronic fatigue, fiber myelgia.
These kind of really, really hard conditions that are, you know, lifelong conditions.
Over the years, they've been misunderstood, much like the, the adrenal organ, you know,
overlooked, much, you know, misunderstood.
And, and he was like, you know, Dr. Tidal Ball was like, oh, you know,
with this, with long COVID is, it's just like a fancy new name for chronic fatigue or fiber myelgia.
You know, any of these kind of things burnout, basically.
Right.
And so he was kind of just applying a lot of the same logic he used throughout his career.
And he's written books on, on chronic fatigue to, to long COVID.
So anybody who knows somebody with long COVID or is dealing with themselves,
you know, take a closer listen to this as well.
But, but there's, there's a lot more to it.
And it's not just about, you know, long COVID or, or anything like that.
It could come on, you know, any time.
And I think people who've experienced, sort of, I'm thinking of like, what are some of those like viral things that kind of like,
like, like related to shingles, shingles.
Oh, yes.
Like, like, the, yeah.
Come on.
Why are we all blinking on this?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you got like, they're shouting at their radio right now.
Yeah.
Like, let's just go with shingles, because that's a great example too.
Yeah, too.
You know, shingles is an example of kind of like, where you're very stressed and you're depleted.
And then there's virus that's already been in your body since you're a kid.
That's the one I'm trying to think of.
Oh, like cold sores.
Oh, no, shingles is related to chickenpox.
Chickenpox.
Yeah, we got chickenpox in your kid.
You have a chance, and you have a chance that you'll get shingles when you get older.
Right.
And it usually happens when you get quite a bit older.
But, you know, especially if it happens when you get younger, that's kind of an example
of your immune system, your stress, your, everything kind of getting weakened.
And your body just has this virus floating around that just is like, hey, opportunists,
like, I'm going to jump out.
You haven't seen me for a while.
You're going to like, you're going to suffer from it.
Here I am.
And shingles can be, you know, can be quite mild.
And it can be just tormentingly terrible.
I can also lead to blindness and a worst case scenario.
So it's nothing to be, you know, to be scoffed at.
Anybody who's had shingles knows how, you know, kind of painful and debilitating it is.
But I think, I think some of these conditions are good examples of when we have to look
beyond just our immune system.
You know, we can always kind of help and treat our immune system.
But sometimes it's something deeper.
And it's this, this fatigue, this stress that's kind of lingered.
And I'm going to kind of read off some fun.
So I'm going to read from this list.
But I would really recommend you come in and pick up this article if you have any of these kind of,
if you have any thought that you might have some of these.
But people who sleep and then they wake in the middle of the night,
people who tend to crave salt or sugar, they're generally exhausted after exercising,
they have intolerance to heat, or they're neutral about hot and cold.
Those are good indications.
And secondarily, I'd like to tell people too, like hypothyroidism gets kind of confused with adrenal.
And I think there's a lot to learn about both of these.
Come and pick up the literature.
Terry Natural has a great supplement that really builds the foundation of all the nutrients you need
to fortify your adrenals.
That's right.
It suggests you start.
But we have a lot of other things.
Well, maybe pick this up in a later date.
Really like that.
I really do.
There's a lot to uncover with that topic.
I encourage you to reach out, find out about that literature, find out about other great things,
and be sure to attend the event.
Go to India with the Gang of Family and Natural Foods.
Right here in Wisconsin Rebs tomorrow.
And here for that great presentation, one o'clock over at Family and Natural Foods.
And if you're, again, curious about the construction or anything, give a call ahead if you'd like.
Doors are open.
They're waiting for you over at Family and Natural Foods at 910 West Grand Avenue in Wisconsin.
Grab it.
So you can give them a call.
715-423-3120.
Always good talking to you guys.
Thanks for the time.
Thank you.
We'll have more Midday Magazine coming up right here on WFHR, locally grown radio.
