Uh, rather soon they do the hay right in the fall, uh, we're going to bring on Ed Chitwood

right now and we're going to just chat a little bit about, uh, about that fundraiser.

Well, snowy, but it's going to go away.

That for what they say.

Yeah, it won't, it won't go away today, but it will, uh, it will in a few days.

So, hey, what do you guys have coming up for milk into cheese, Ed?

Uh, the, uh, the first of March, we always have the tournament, uh, this is the, uh, this

I think this is the 15th year we've had it.

It's always the first Sunday in March and it happens to land on the first.

We have two shifts, 11 o'clock on 130.

Uh, the second shift is pretty much full and we've got about maybe two or three alleys

for the first shift.

Like I said, 11 and 130.

Uh, we've got, uh, there's door prizes.

Uh, Lynette Keyver made a quilt.

Uh, there is, uh, meat auction.

Uh, you can get, uh, six pounds of hamburger, half a hog, uh, uh, sticks of sausage,

rings of bologna.

It's a good thing.

Of a dice game.

We have a 50-50 raffle.

A lot of things, but we encourage people that if you're not a boulder, just go on down in the say,

hi, because chances are there's going to be somebody there that you know.

And I, I know we've had a lot of people come in and say, oh, you know what I saw.

So, so I've seen him for, I haven't seen him for four or five years.

And so just come down and get something to eat.

They got all bowling alleys have go to.

They got really good pizzas and burgers.

You, you name it.

They've got a help well out.

And just come down and visit if you're not a boulder.

And that's happening.

Where's that added?

This would be at the basketball bowling and wreck, uh, the bowling alley outside of basketball.

Sounds great.

Now, of course, this is one of the fundraisers that, that you do, uh, to help process milk into cheese.

Give us just a, a real quick tutorial on cheese.

Somebody's new here.

One prime of our nation.

Tell us about milk into cheese.

All right.

We started this in 1990, 1999, because milk price was not any good.

And people were talking about dumping milk and said, well, that's kind of bad to do.

And if you, you know, to throw milk away with people going hungry.

So we worked with, with my stir cheese and musketeid.

And, uh, they make the cheese and, and we buy the cheese.

And then I delivered to four or five pantries, about 400 pounds a month.

And, uh, we started with, uh, we started with a, you can, like in the Labor Day weekend, we have a milk drive.

You can give money or you can give milk.

And then, uh, the, the people, the numbers started going up.

So then we had a hay ride, which is like in September or October.

And that's free will also.

And then, uh, we had the bowling tournament.

So, uh, we had three events during the year to keep everything going,

because our goal was to do this year round.

All right.

Well, I tell you what, I had a great cause.

Um, you know, it sort of stemmed from, from bad circumstances.

It was kind of a bad time, um, back in 1999 with, with no prices.

But, you know what?

Congratulations to you and Linda and the entire crew that you, you, you assemble.

Uh, that's been able to, uh, take it from that to what it is today.

So we, we sure to appreciate that as do, uh, the area food pantries at.

Yeah, and, and I really want to thank the people in our area and WRCO,

because if people didn't show up for the hay ride, the bowling tournament, or donate milk,

and, and we get donations through the year or somebody passes away,

and, um, I'm dead would have, would have liked this, you know,

and so they, they send us some money or whatever.

And the other thing I, that I can't stress enough, if you give a dollar for this,

the whole dollar goes for it.

There's nothing taken out.

It, uh, 100% of the goals for the cause.

Yeah, so many times when you make a donation, you'll, you'll see it broken down.

Okay, you know, this percentage is administrative cost.

And this percentage is retirement fund.

And this percentage is the golf outing, but you, it's 100%.

It all goes to milk and to cheese.

It's 100% and I, and I delivered the cheese, so I make sure that I know

I'm supposed to get there.

And I don't take anything out for my time.

Right, that's, that's quality, uh, delivery right there ads.

Yeah.

As I think back on the spring time growing up on the farm,

a husky young farm boy,

spring was coming on.

I was about to lift the ear flaps on my hat.

My ears will get sunburned on those first sunny days,

but I didn't care.

Once in a while I'd get a play date with the neighbors.

In fact, my neighbor Renee used to bring her pony,

lickety split across the line fence.

I was never much of a horseman,

and once while taking a ride on lickety,

one of my pro kids fell off in the hay field.

My mom was so mad that I lost a good school shoe,

but I found it the next winter in front of the stanchions.

It had been bailed up and our Holstein's nudged it aside.

The old barn radio was always on.

The cows and me love the music and the connection

to the outside world.

The local sports teams seem like pro athletes to me

because their names were mentioned on the air.

The songs that played on the Magnavox in the early days

were simply magic to me and they still are.

Songs that we might play on Saturday Night's Edition

of those were the days like Kenny Rogers

and the first edition just dropped in

to see what condition my condition is in.

The Big Lebowski movie brought that song to more generations.

Also Althea Eckdoll of Monroe becomes a three time state qualifier.

She is a junior.

The Richland Center Hornets will have two girls wrestling at state for the first time.

They are seniors Madeline Muller and Kaylee Spilde for Madeline.

It'll be her second time competing in the state wrestling tournament.

The qualifiers from the Mineral Point sectional at 100 pounds champion Kaylee Spilde of Richland Center.

With a pair of pins including one in the finals over Bronte Bethel of Mount Hora Barnafeld.

She is a freshman and goes on to state for Mount Hora Barnafeld.

At 1007 pounds a champion Kenlon Byall of Lancaster.

She is a freshman runner up sophomore Peyton Sandher of Bosca Bell, Wazika Stuben.

At 114 pounds the champion is freshman Rowan Altman of Iowa Grant Highland.

Going out to state with her is runner up sophomore Tatum James of Mineral Point.

At 120 pounds Madeline Muller of Richland Center with three pins on the night.

Becomes a two time state qualifier and takes the championship.

The runner up is sophomore Naomi Bermuda of Sock Prairie.

Wisconsin Heights just missing out Abby Finley of Mineral Point places third.

At 126 the champion is freshman Evelyn Eckdoll of Monroe, the runner up.

She'll go to state along with freshman Eddie True Heart of Monroe, the runner up.

Sophia Bur of Lancaster takes third in that weight class.

At 165 Amelia Salta's a junior from Monthor of Barnabelle is the champion.

Brittany Pesci of Prairie De Sheen, a junior, makes her second trip to state.

She is the runner up in that weight class, finishing just ahead of Mineral Point, junior Emily Heisner, who places third.

At 185 the champion and making her second trip to state, senior Adriana Logue of North Crawford, Seneca.

The runner up is Lily Hatfield of Sock Prairie, Wisconsin Heights.

And Haley Yeager of Mineral Point takes third in that weight class.

At a 235 the champion, a senior Ellie Lensador of Wannakey, runner up Norta Christensen of Belleville, Monticello, New Clara's,

and freshman Lily and Heisner of Mineral Point takes third.

The Richland Center Horned Boys basketball team handed visiting Dodgeville a 75-71 laws on Friday night.

Knocking the Dodgers from the co-conference lead.

The advantage grew to 18 at one point in the game for the Hornets.

However, Richland Center had to thwart off several Dodgeville comebacks.

The Dodgers went on a 13-nothing run early in the second half and trailed by four.

The Dodgers got as close as three points, 57-54, with about six minutes left.

Richland Center built the lead to double digits several times and finally had enough to hold them off with a few free throws

in the end. Richland Center Jr. Jaden Shepp led the way with one of the greatest scoring nights in Hornet Boys basketball history.

After scoring 22 in the first half, he ended the night with 43.

He has totaled 24-3 point baskets combined in the last three conference game.

He sank seven of those last night to power the team to the win.

Liam Fingerson scored 12, Brady Dosh and Deacon Heiss both had seven, a Bosworth and Connors Stoltz both scored three points.

The Hornets were 15 for 27 from the line.

Dodgeville was led by Bryce Lockard with 25, Jace Halverson scored 13 and Gentry Olsen added 12.

The team made seven three-pointers and they went 10 for 16 from the line.

The Dodgers were 57, 47 winners in the JV game over the Hornets.

With the 75-71 win, Richland Center is now 7 and 16 overall and 4 and 5 in the conference.

They will wrap up the regular season at Plattville Thursday night.

Dodgeville is now 13 and 9 overall and they fall from the first place tie with Lancaster.

They are 6 and 3 in the Southwest Wisconsin conference with a game at Barnavelle on Monday.

The WIAA will announce seating Sunday for the boys basketball postseason.

Following last night's game, I asked Richland Center's Jaden Shev how it felt to get the win.

Oh, it feels great.

For the game, we came in knowing that Dodgeville's title and cancer for conference came in a knock-moff.

It feels amazing.

You were hitting the shots.

What speed did difference here lately because you've been hitting multiple three-point shots here along the way?

Yeah, I've been talking to Coach Wilson and getting up in the morning, putting shots in,

getting some more of our guys in here too.

It feels great.

So you've been doing some extra things for over time now.

Yeah.

What do you think, Jaden, that this win does for the Hornets now as you face the rest of the season?

I think it just sets the tone on going into playoffs.

This is a great game.

It's set for playoffs.

Now we've got to go to Plattville on Thursday.

I asked Coach Brian Poles about the 43 night for a ship and if he remembers any others scoring that much.

I think I had 140-point game Alcats and I think I had 41 night against Sock that I remember.

But this was just an unbelievable performance.

He didn't say it.

He's not feeling well.

He's actually under the weather.

I asked him before the game, you know, how you feeling.

And of course, it doesn't matter how he's feeling.

He would always tell me he's feeling fine.

And you know, you could see he was a little under the weather, but you know, I mean, what a, what a performance.

Coach Brian Poles called it a total team win.

We knew there was going to be that initial spurt and, you know, to our guys credit.

We pumped it back up after that.

And they wanted another run.

So it was great back and forth.

Just really fun conference games.

Today is the day for the WIAA rustling team sectionals

to be held around the state with the team sectional champions

to earn births in the state team tournament.

That'll be held the first weekend of March in a new location

at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse.

Qualifying for that tournament will be the seven team sectional champions

today in each of the three divisions.

A wildcard team,

according to pre-determined qualifications,

will be chosen from team sectional runners-up

to join the sectional champions in completing an eight team bracket

for each of the three divisions at state.

Division one teams from our area are funneled today

into a pair of team sectionals at Verona and at Marshfield.

The Verona team sectional features Oregon,

Middleton, Verona,

Wanakee,

Sock Prairie, Wisconsin Heights,

and Manona Grove,

McFarland.

WIAA sectional champion Holman from a week ago

headlines a six team field at the Marshfield team sectional.

That includes Monomony,

Marshfield, New Richmond, DC Everest,

and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.

Turning to division two team sectionals today
