I'm Adam Hess. Today is the state cross-country meat with a preview.

That'll do IAA state cross-country meat begins later today.

National Anthem 1130 teams begin running at noon today

with the boys' portion of the tournament.

And the Vision 3 boys run at noon.

Division 2 at 1235,

Richland Center Ithaca will be a part of that field.

And I talk to coach Eric Mindham this week,

as his team was preparing for today's meat.

I've made sure to carve out time at the end of practice.

Every night this week for any new tips, any fresh information,

anything new that they might remember for the last two times they've run it.

So we'll be able to look at some drone footage actually of the course ahead of time

so that again, we just try to make it as familiar as possible

for those that haven't run it before.

It's been an exciting week.

I know the community has reached out to you guys.

And I think right now it's just a good time to be a Richland Center Ithaca runner, isn't it?

It feels like it.

We've been blown away with the support schools put on some great pepper alleys this morning.

The community we've seen the signs up, billboards, you name it.

So I think these guys feel really supported right now,

which is really big as they go put on a good representation for our community.

If you look at some of the times from some of the other

sectionals and not that you don't run them on paper,

but it looks somewhat favorable for you, doesn't it?

I think so. I think we can stack up really well.

The boys that moved up the rankings all year, in fact,

they just had a fresh refresh or refresh on it this week and moved up to third in the rankings.

So 16 team race.

I think a lot of the other coaches have looked at our team and seen some talent,

some things that we thought were going to happen this year,

and we've done a good job executing.

Certainly some stalwarts there to contend with.

Colors been a three time in a row here, state champ,

once a division two in our race and the two previous years down a division.

Shorewoods of Perennial Power, they're always in the mix,

maybe on paper there, the team to beat.

But we feel like if we bring it, if we have our best race,

we're just going to let things fall where they are and we think we've got a shot.

Comes down to all that practice time this year,

you know, and all the hours in the off season as well.

And I know you kind of know what you have in the reserve as a runner,

and looking for that kick at the end.

But again, when you finish on a hill,

I would guess it's a little bit different energy you need to finish, isn't it?

I think so. I think if you're pushing it enough,

your legs probably will go numb and you won't feel it.

So it may as well run faster anyways.

But it's pretty incredible.

Obviously the largest spectator race that we have this year.

So there's very few spots on the course where you're alone as a runner.

So coming up that hill, yeah, it's challenging, yeah, it's difficult.

But it's overwhelming, listening to the crowd as you run up through

and just it kind of pulls the end of the finish there.

That's awesome. All right.
