Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba and Greg Bach · Fri Apr 3, 2026
From Washington to Hollywood and right back to Wisconsin.
It's Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Connecting the dots on the stories shaping our world with smart takes, sharp humor, and plenty of personality.
You know, I really expected more professional behavior from you.
It's news and culture without the noise.
Yeah, come on!
Here's Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Dude!
Dude dude dude Dude Welcome to nightlight everybody.
It is great to have you here on this Friday.
You made it through the week And what a week it was Greg lots of stuff going on all over the state all over the country I didn't mean to interrupt your your brilliant airdrum solo
that was
impressive You know and if you watch us folks if you watch nightlight with peach wabba and Greg Bach on the stream you get to see Greg play a fair amount of
My gosh.
Yes.
I love to air drum.
I jar drum.
Well, it's a small little drum kit, like a little club kit or a big drum kit.
But that's all the reason to watch us on the live stream to
see
me air drumming in a way that makes you say, oh, you, you can play drums.
And I go,
no, I cannot.
This guy can really bang.
Well, it's like, you know, it's like the guy who plays air guitar and tries to throw in a bar chord.
to make it look like he really knows what he's doing.
I understand rhythms.
I can step back.
I can let the bass player have a moment.
Oh, my dear.
This is fun, Greg.
It's casual Friday here at
Nightlight.
Oh, my God.
It's so casual.
It's so casual.
I feel like we need an intro song for casual Friday, right?
Yes.
Dom, do you have s- They're all right there.
Do.
Friday's here and the week's in the rear view.
Whether you're still on the clock or already mentally checked out, Pete and Greg are here for you.
So kick back and grab something to snack on.
It's casual Friday with Pete and Greg.
Oh yeah.
It's like the weekends here and I at first I say she's like and the week is in the rear I'm like whoa in the rear view she
said so
I That's
a great
intro.
It's just that's a great intro.
Is that brand new that's
brand new
It's it's updated updated.
It's oh That's how we work here on night light.
We update things um Folks we're coming to you live.
I am in radio park in Racine
Pete is in Christmastown, USA, up in Marinette, Wisconsin.
Is it Christmas City?
Christmas City,
Christmas City, because yes, Christmas City, USA in Marinette, Wisconsin, then all the way over in that South ish central part of Wisconsin.
And Madison is Mr. Dom Lee on the ones and twos at Civic Media HQ, no less.
That's important.
The kid, Dom Lee, Dom
Lee.
The kid.
Oh, what a kid.
But we have a great show for you this evening, folks.
Pete, what do we have on the docket for tonight for casual Friday?
Well, this is actually perfect programming, if I do say so ourselves, because it was all of us.
But no, we have the Wisconsin Supper Club chasers.
Jim and Michelle will be here tonight.
They have this great social media platform.
They go in the frequent supper clubs.
Not a
bad
gig, huh, Greg?
I mean, I wouldn't shake a stick at that.
And I'm getting ready to do some supper club impossibly this month.
And I know this.
If I go to a supper club, there's no chasing me.
I'm just standing there because I can't move.
I've eaten so much food, you can just catch me.
I'll be standing in front of the supper club going, why did I have that third piece of asparagus?
Third piece of asparagus.
I thought you're going to say, like, why did I get the 96er?
or something.
Oh, such a good movie.
Such a good movie.
I love it.
Oh, God, the great outdoors.
Maybe that will be a film for the movie club.
Who knows that out?
Oh,
we can do whatever we want.
Yeah.
But you
know what?
Yeah, there was kind of I love summer clubs.
I mean, I remember going up to my grandma's cottage up in Eagle River, Three Lakes when I was a kid and we would just swim all day.
Yeah.
And then we would go out and they always had like there was this place called
Oh, it was a night of village or something like that.
It was a hotel and they had a great restaurant.
You put like that Merc's cheese.
They would serve that
before
you
spread it salad bar Stakes burgers, whatever.
It's just it's a vibe and it's different than a regular restaurant.
There's this something about it.
I can't maybe they can explain it.
I can't
So like, when you're a kid, and this is no disrespect to salad bars either, but like, you know, I went to, I had the opportunity last year to go up North for Civic Media.
We did some shows up there and we went to a wonderful, we went to Butternut.
We went to Butternut Lake, this wonderful, and I'm blanking on the name of the, of the, I think it's just the Butternut Lodge.
And they had like a salad bar, like an old school salad bar there for your fixings.
And as a kid, you think to yourself,
what am I gonna do with all of this stuff?
And then as an adult, you're like lettuce, cheese, not scrambled, but crushed hard-boiled eggs.
Like, yeah.
What's the hard-boiled eggs?
Yeah, you've never seen a salad bar with it.
Oh, salad bar.
Yeah, sure.
Yeah,
yeah, yeah.
So an egg salad, but minus the mayonnaise.
So it's just the, it's just the hard boiled eggs crushed into, in little pieces, but you're like, when you're a kid, oh my gosh, I could eat there for decades.
And as an adult, you're like, I'm probably going to have half a salad.
So
it's so great.
And then you
always
have like the half game room off
to,
off the lobby, like the kids can play there.
The
adults are hanging out after being in the sun all day.
Supper clubs are amazing and nobody does it better than Wisconsin.
So we're
very excited to
talk to you.
our new friends, uh, Jim and Michelle, the Wisconsin supper club chasers, they will be here.
And then Greg,
why
don't you, I'm going to give you the honors, buddy.
Tell people what we're doing in the second hour.
This is exciting.
In the second hour, we're going to be taking part in a brain rot quiz.
Now here's the thing is I didn't know what a brain rot quiz was because I thought that was like a, is that a, uh, like a.
name name like a thing like oh the brain rot quiz or is it just something that we call that I never
heard of it's it's a name name brain rot it's a real name it's a real thing so I'm interested to see how you guys do
tonight our very own Dom Lee on the ones and twos up in Madison he is prepared a brain rot quiz that tests the
Street vernacular knowledge of Pete Schwabba and myself the the the words the the the the the not the vernacular I would use that word the Speak of the kids Vocational the the youth's words I don't have any words right now Lexicon that was the word I was
looking for
Lexicon the Lexicon of the youth We're gonna find out whether or not Pete or I know what young people are saying when they speak now with their
Riz and things of
that nature.
So that's coming up in the,
yeah, sus.
I don't want to bring up any that you may already have on there.
So I'm just going to
leave that sus and
Riz, but we're going to do that in the second hour at six 20.
So don't go anywhere.
We're going to also wrap up everything this evening, like we always do with the nightcap.
But before we get anywhere else, we got to do one very important thing.
And that is state tonight's question of the night.
Let's talk about the question.
Okay, question.
Question.
Question.
Pregunta.
Question.
Question.
Okay, I have a question.
Questions.
This question.
Domanda.
Question.
Question.
Questions.
Oh, yes.
Speaking of supper clubs, what is your favorite or perfect supper club food and drink?
What
are you
ordering when you go to a supper club?
Yeah.
Yeah, I
mean.
Oh, I can't wait to talk about
this.
Good question.
It's
literally making my mouth water because
I know
mercs cheese I don't even
know if it's a
real cheese, but it was delish after a day in the lake and But we want you guys to play be part of the show.
It's always much more fun when you guys participate tell us What your favorite supper club meal is with cocktail
or drink or whatever

And you can let us know by calling or texting the number is the same eight five five seven five two four eight four two eight five five seven five seven.
You can leave a comment on that live stream where we live streaming.
I'm glad you asked.

You can also text call or leave a voice note by getting the civic media app because it's all right there on the app.
So download that today.
If you don't already have it, it's app.
Absolutely free.
It's very, very handy dandy.

You can participate in contests when we have them.
You can get your news.
You can listen to us wherever you are in the world.
So get that app.
Let us know your, your supper club go to order as well as your cocktail, mocktail, beverage of choice, whatever that may be.
And we'll talk about that more in the second hour this evening.
I cannot wait, Greg.
I literally, I cannot wait.
Are you going to go to like a supper club this weekend now?
Are you going to like, I'm going to wait to ask
this.
Go ahead, Greg.
I was going to say, I'm going to, I have a question for you, but I'm not going to ask it until the second hour.
Cause this brings up a conversation about supper clubs, but go on,
go on.
No, I was just saying, there are, there is a place locally I go to called little river on Friday nights.
They have the fish fry and all that kind of stuff, but we're going there for brunch on Easter.
So I.
I'm not going there tonight.
It's not every week thing, but now is
it a supper
club?
It's more of a country club with a supper club.
Oh,
we're not members.
It's not it's not that you don't have to be a member like anybody
in
golf there.
Anybody can eat there.
It's not and it's not crazy expensive.
It's just it's just a good hot meal at a fair price, Greg.
Is that on the is that on the billboard?
That used to be one of the intros.
We should bring that.
A good hot meal at a fair price.
Yeah.
Welcome to, what's the place called again?
What's it called again?
Little River Country Club.
Welcome to Little River Country Club.
A good hot meal at a fair price.
All are welcome.
All are welcome.
Great service too.
Free
merch goes a long way too.
Free merch cheese when you
come in.
They don't have it.
Do they still need cheese?
Yes, of course they do.
What kind of
question is
that?
What kind of question
is that?
You know what, cheese rep?
No, but you are a news fan, so it's time to get to our top three stories of
the day.
Let's do it.
All right.
The first big story.
I'm going to let you take this one because I know it infuriated you when you saw the headline.
Oh, man.
When I saw the headline, I thought at first it had to be fake.
I'm talking about, of course, most of you or some of you probably heard about this.
I saw it on NBC News.
Tiger Woods was calling after he rolled his car and endangered the lives of others second time by the way Yes, exactly Second and he just you know, he's making a phone call the cops come up they show up and he says I'm talking to the president to the cops Yeah, and that's real that happened He's already one of the biggest celebrities in the sports world, but
he
has to drop the president's name He didn't even say the name.
He just said the president to the cop
And the cop didn't really back off, which I like, but I don't think I liked Tiger Woods before this, but I didn't know enough about him.
He's a complete tool now.
I mean,
so it's just, please
go go away.
It didn't stop them.
There's a picture on this story on CNBC.com of him being arrested in front of the camera.
And he's kind of like the, the position of his body, he's got his arms behind his back in handcuffed and he's looking off like almost as if, uh, like they can, they can take my, they can take my, my hands, but they'll never take my opioid pills.
Cause he was high.
He was absolutely high when he got pulled over.
They said that he was, you know, he was sweating profusely.
He was bloodshot and glassy eyed.
He was sweating profusely, extremely dilated pupils.
And this is the second time he's been involved.
Well, third time, if you include his ex-wife and the golf club, he's
been
involved in a car incident.
But to me, like, I didn't like him much to begin with, but man, and I didn't know this either.
He's dating Don Jr.'
's ex-wife.
That's so weird.
Yeah, I just, you know, it's sort of like, I'm glad they handcuffed Pete Hegseth will probably fire the cops now.
But I just, I don't know.
I want him because nothing's going to happen.
No, I mean, he's already a celebrity, but now he's got, you know, Trump's going to pardon him for future crimes.
He hasn't even committed yet, probably, even though he was driving a weapon and could have hurt other people.
And he says, quote, I feel so badly there is
He's got some... Oh, no, no, no.
This is what Trump said about him.
I feel so badly.
He's got some difficulties.
There was an accident and that's all I know.
Don't talk about this, dude, man.
And Woods is stepping away from golf now to work on his mental health.
Of course.
Just step away forever because you have never worked on it.
This is the second time.
Get help, dude, and stop relying on Daddy Trump to impress people.
Nobody cares.
Yeah, that was a shocker.
All right.
This is
not like with Beachwabba and Greg Bach.
When we come back, folks, we're gonna tell you the betting lines of the Final Four games.
We'll talk a little baseball that's coming up next on our second big story.
It's Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach on the Civic Media Network.
That's the Bo Deans, baby.
Nicely done, Dom.
Love that song.
Dreams.
Great tune.
Welcome back to Nightlight.
I'm Pete Schwabba, sitting downstate for me is Greg Bach and working the board, producing the show from Madison, Dom Lee.
Coming up, folks, after the news at the bottom of the hour, the Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers will be here talking to us about their outstanding social media platform, Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers.
That's what they do.
They go to as many Supper Clubs as they can.
And they write about it so we can cherry pick which supper clubs we want to go to, Greg.
See, this is one of the downfalls of not being together, is that they could bring in treats.
Be like, here, try some steak from this place.
Here, try some Merck's cheese from this place.
I know.
They were going to.
When I first talked to them three months ago, they were going to come into the studio.
That would have been a blast.
Come
on.
Work it out.
They can fed X-meats and
food.
Yeah, exactly.
It's great to talk
about this.
It's casual Friday.
We're having a good time here.
Let's get back to the top three stories.
The
second big story.
All right, so tomorrow is the final four ladies and gentlemen There's four teams left in the uns in the NCAA tournament.
I don't know how your brackets are doing mine were toast weekend one I'm not gonna win any money, but I don't care.
I still love the tournament We'll see if the NIL keeps affecting there aren't quite as many upsets the last couple years someone pointed out to me So that could be because of NIL money What is it
but why would NIL money?
Well, what does that do with it?
the powerhouses are even more powerful and less susceptible to upset, I guess.
Gotcha.
So it'll be interesting because yeah, you've got two one seeds.
You've got Michigan playing Arizona and then you've got Illinois in Yukon.
Illinois is a three seed.
Yukon is a two seed.
So I'm excited.
I think the games will be good.
I'm excited for the championship game Monday night.
Love the NCAA tournament.
Two questions.
Can I ask
two more
questions?
First of all, how can you have two one seeds when they're... Okay, that just feels like there can only be one one seed.
There's
one overall seed and that's Michigan, but then there's four divisions.
There's four regions.
Each one has a number one seed.
Follow-up question.
Yeah.
Why do they call it the final four when it happens next year then too?
This isn't the final.
It's the final for this year, the final four for now.
It
just feels like
false advertising to me.
I mean, final four.
No, it's not.
Like that's, it's,
no, we'll
have it next.
Will he be here next year having the same conversation?
Pete's brackets will be trash.
And we'll
be saying the final,
I mean, we'll say the final four again.
I'll be like, I asked this question last year.
No, but these are the actual final four teams.
The whole tournament isn't called the final four.
It's the NCAA tournament, the big dance or whatever you want to call it, but this weekend, the third weekend is the final four.
There are four teams left.
They are the final four.
So we'll see what
happens.
I'm never going to ask a question to be funny again, ever.
never listen I'm gonna I'm gonna give you
the I'm supposed to be doing comedy tonight and I'm
just
in my head oh my god I'm not funny
this is a warm-up don't worry about it you're in the bullpen right now speaking of the bullpen what you got to be thrilled with your Brewers dude there's a lot of sports going on this week oh addition to some great basketball
there's tons of sport happening right now the Brewers are doing fantastic there are five in one right now and I think it's funny because I posted something on Facebook earlier about the fact that various news
people or haters are saying, they're like being accused of cheating.
The brewers are being accused of cheating cause they're five in one.
And somebody, yeah, I know it's very funny, but I think it's very funny that someone wrote this.
It was kind of like a, it was a very Wisconsin response to the, the post cause he says the brewers drafted and developed the brewers have a great manager that the players love.
The brewers are a good team and have kept their core players for a few years in a row.
The brewers are five in one against two terrible teams.
I'm like,
Thank you.
That didn't, I don't feel like that helped.
I don't feel like you're on my team at all in the one, but the Brewers are doing great.
They, they're, they're playing Kansas city tonight and they're in Kansas city this evening.
It's going to be great.
And I'm actually, like I said, I'm doing comedy tonight and the headliner is a huge Royals fan.
So I guess we'll have to just not talk about things for a while.
But yeah, I'm, I'm, I love baseball.
I love baseball.
I'm so happy it's back and
It's definitely a better start than last.
The Brewers did great last season.
There was not a lot of great expectations for them.
But last year in their beginning, they were 0 and 4.
And they got like walloped by the Yankees with those tornado bats they were using last year.
And they like beat them like 20 to 2 in the second game.
But baseball's back.
The Brewers are doing great.
I have hope for my guys.
I love Pat Murphy.
And yeah, I'm just I'm looking forward to it.
And hopefully going to be getting into a game sooner than later, please, Mike.
Goodness
gracious.
And I know it's early, but yeah, like we were talking about before the show, Greg, every team in that division is 500 or better.
So it certainly that division will should be really competitive and fun to watch this year.
I hope so, too.
Yeah, absolutely.
Absolutely.
All right.
I think we're time.
We're ready for our third big story.
All
right.
The third big story.
So not so much casual Friday, but more of just like a what's happening right now
So let
yesterday we talked about this the fact that now former US Attorney Attorney General Pam Bondi was let go relocated fired However, you want to see begged for her job in the Oval Office.
I don't know how you want to put that one But apparently according to MS now and this picture has been circulating her picture has already been taken off the wall Which isn't surprising when they change leadership
They do that.
But someone snapped a photo and sent it to MSNOW of Pam Bondi's photograph in the trash.
And I just was like, dang, they're not sentimental about anything over there.
They're throwing away a perfectly good frame.
That's what's going to be about the whole now.
I have a feeling somebody did that because she wasn't very popular with the rank and file of the FBI.
And somebody probably did that and took a picture and posted it to get back at her.
You know, she mishandled the Epstein files.
Her whole time there was kind of a dream
wreck.
She was the Florida Attorney General while the whole thing was going on with Epstein the first place.
So it's like, you know, she's not... Prison.
How about prison?
Let's talk about that next week, though.
This is casual Friday.
And casual
Friday.
We got enough political talk.
We have our guests coming up next.
And I want to get to that talk now because that is the important thing we're discussing.
And our question of the night goes hand in hand with our next guests who are very excited to have Jim and Michelle from the Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers there coming by after the news.
And our question of the night is, what is your favorite food and drink order at a supper club?
Let us know.
If folks say 557524842, you can text us on the app.
Or if you're watching the radio on the stream, drop us a stream comment and be part of the show.
And if you have a question for Jim and Michelle, that's fine too.
They're coming up next.
It's Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach and Nightlight on the Civic Media Network.
Little
casual Chris Isaac there on your casual Friday here at Nightlight.
I'm Pete Schwabba sitting across the stage from Greg Bach.
Happy Friday everybody.
Be part of the fun.
What is your favorite or your perfect?
Supper club order food and drink, please.
This is a great question because our next guests That's their that's their racket.
That's their game.
They Visit as many supper clubs as they can they've been to over 200 Wow, and they have a platform called Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers, so it I mean we love supper clubs, and we're yes, that's our thing here in Wisconsin, right?
And we've other things too, but that's a biggie
So we're going to welcome them now to talk about supper clubs.
Jim and Michelle from Wisconsin supper club chasers.
Welcome you guys.
Thanks for
having us.
Yeah.
Oh, it's our pleasure.
Um, all right.
So I know you guys, you told me you're in a hotel because you're on a tour, I assume right now where you're checking out a new supper club as we speak or later tonight.
Where are you?
And tell us how you came up with this idea.
So after traveling all 50 states together on April 15th of 2022, we were visiting our 57th supper club together.
And Michelle said, let's start a page on Facebook and mostly to keep track of the places that we then we were going.
And when we were traveling all 50 states, I used to enjoy writing about different.
food places that we went to all across the country.
But we kind of decided to focus in on Wisconsin.
of supper clubs.
We love visiting supper clubs.
And now we've been to, well, we were at our 220th before we sat down to talk with you.
And actually, we don't do this very often, but we're also going to head to our 221st after we get off the show.
So we're in two today.
Two in one night?
Two in one night that we haven't been to.
So yeah, but we do some of them.
We've been to some of the supper clubs literally hundreds of times.
We visit supper clubs probably about three to five times a week.
Oh my gosh.
So we get out pretty often and yeah, it's been fun.
We created also, we call it guide, but it's virtually a coupon book for supper clubs a couple of years ago and now we're in our second version.
And it's something that we sell.
We call it the Wisconsin supper club dining destinations guide.
And we mostly sell it at venturewisconsin.com, but that guide has helped us.
be able to continue to do what we do.
When we go to most supper clubs, we pay our own way.
So we pay for our own travel, we pay for our own meals.
There are supper clubs though that do offer us.
you know, meals, you know, occasionally, but it's more of a rare occasion.
But get to be more and more, you know, with 50, over 57,000 followers on Facebook, we get millions of views a month.
So a lot of people are interested in what we're doing.
And it's really interesting.
I mean, I've been traveling sometimes in
I'll be at a rest stop and somebody will say, hey, you're the guy.
I've actually been in a quick trip restroom and a guy.
I wasn't in the restroom, but I was in the restroom, if you know what I mean.
And a gentleman said, hey, you're the guy.
I just saw that you were at, or where are you heading?
people are interested a lady last night when we were out she said uh every every night i uh
I curl up in bed and read your posts.
I'm like, well, that's interesting.
Wow.
People are just experiencing the two of you in very unique places, it might
seem.
Sure.
But it is fun.
It's fun.
We enjoy it.
And you know, we keep everything that we do fun and positive.
So everything
I write is
100% positive.
I don't allow any negativity.
I allow people to comment.
But unfortunately, if there's any negative comments,
Um, I, I, you know, I encourage people to take that up with the management, you know, I'm
your own
privately, you know,
not, not,
not, not out there on social media.
So, but, uh, yeah, it's a lot of fun.
So supper clubs are, I mean, it's not a uniquely Wisconsin thing, but it's so well loved here.
We, we, I mean, people, when you talk to Wisconsinites and those who are visiting, we treat supper clubs with a reverence and a tradition.
And, and you said that, you know, you had already gone to
quite a few dozen supper clubs at the point where you decided to make this, you know, a, you know, I don't want to say a job, but like you decided to put your, your experiences out to the world for people to enjoy.
What is it about supper clubs for the two of you that makes it so exciting that you've turned this into a, you know, something that you put your passion into plus, you know, going to so many a week.
I mean, you have to, there's something about it that you have to really enjoy.
Yeah, I mean, you know, fortunately or unfortunately, I live to eat and don't eat to live.
Same brother, same brother.
Is that true?
Yeah.
So I
do enjoy, do enjoy eating and we do enjoy, you know, our typical supper club experience.
We'll start out at the bar,
and
usually for an hour or so, we'll have a couple of cocktails, we'll move to a table.
Sometimes go back to the bar, but rarely.
Some people do that, that's part of their supper club experience.
But we enjoy all food, but probably in the big picture of it all, we enjoy the people.
We enjoy the people that love.
you know the experience like we love the experience and you know and there's always different experiences I mean sometimes sometimes it is about the food other times it's about the ambience but but it's always about the people so it's fun fun to to enjoy other people's company we've gotten to know a lot of owners they they see what we're doing is really helpful to
all supper clubs, but the places that we go especially, I mean, there's posts that I make that, you know, hundreds of thousands of people see.
So it's really kind of interesting and fun.
fun, but we really enjoy it.
I mean, and Michelle makes some really great videos.
I'm not a videographer.
She's gotten better and better at it, but she actually also creates, she's a musician by trade.
So she's a professional piano player and singer, and she's actually
uh, you know, we used to play with schools and she's done, uh, music out where she, she did like the lobby bar at the grand Geneva, which
used to
be the playboy club and yeah.
Gosh.
Yeah, but she's created a lot of the music now that we're using on our videos.
That's fantastic.
She's created
some supper club songs and we've done a lot of fun things.
We've created some different clothing with different logos and we've done pop-up stores with that.
We've created t-shirts that have all the supper clubs on back.
of the T-shirt.
And on the front, it'll say like Wisconsin supper clubs, how many have you been to?
And, you know, we, we then create, you know, a fun scenario where people are able to go on the, you know, look at the back of the shirt and I've been to that one, that one, that one, and that one, you know,
they're following you around.
So they,
it's really fun.
Jim and Michelle are the Wisconsin supper club chasers.
They're joining us tonight on nightlight for a few minutes.
We're talking to them about their really cool platform.
Check them out there on Facebook, Instagram, and they've been over 200 supper clubs and we're talking to them about their experiences.
You know, what do good supper clubs do right?
And what do, if there are bad supper clubs, what don't they do right?
You don't have to name any, but have you, the ones that are successful, how are they doing that?
Is there a common thread?
Um, you know, there there probably is I mean good food is is probably very key to a busy supper club.
Um
People ask all the time, don't you have bad experiences?
Because I don't talk about it.
I just choose not to talk about those experiences.
We've had bad meals, bad service.
It happens occasionally.
But we try to overlook that.
We're all humans and we all have scenarios where we might not have had a very good day.
Something stayed on the grill too long for the chef and that kind of stuff.
you know, we try to minimize that it happens.
But yeah, good food, good cocktails, you know, a nice bar where there's a lot of seating helps.
But we've been to a lot of places where they have, you know, a small bar and it's still a lot of fun.
Um, you know, some, some, you know, dining rooms are huge.
Some are small and, you know, we, some of those are, are as popular as others, you know, bigger or smaller.
So size doesn't matter, but, you know, I think good food, uh, you know, and, and just owners that care help a lot too.
I mean, uh, a lot of times the owners are involved in a supper club.
So they're, they're, they're, um,
being, you know, being part of the whole thing.
Uh, he might be the bartender and she might be the chef or vice versa.
You know, they, they, they have some, some aspect of the business they're doing something.
So it's fun.
There has been a lot of, so like, you know, growing up, there's, you know, there's supper clubs.
I can think of we went to when I was, when I was a kid, but there's been a revival in the past few years of the supper club.
decor, mystique, the experience.
I mean, it feels like, you know, do you feel like those places are, do you feel like those places are trying?
to replicate the old school look or, and, and, or do you think they're paying tribute essentially?
Cause like, I see some of them like, this just looks like you're trying to look like a supper club while charging very, very expensive prices.
But then there are places out there saying, I just want to create what I went to with my parents and grandparents as a kid.
I mean, I feel like there's, it's a resurgence of the love of supper clubs with new locations opening up.
Yeah, there, there, there are new locations opening up almost even all the time next week.
we'll be visiting a place called the Conroy Modern Stock Club in Milwaukee.
That's a brand new one.
They asked us to come out and that you know that's one of the examples of of a supper club that asked us to come in and they'll take care of you know our meals because they'll know that you know we're going to share about their place and you know when we look at their menu it looks like they're more of
what we would call a modern supper club,
a
lot of these traditional supper clubs.
Fortunately, I don't try to find a place that has the best prices.
I'm fortunate that I can visit them regardless.
And in some respects, you get what you pay for.
And then other times, we've found places that might charge more than
You would think they should be you know, but that's you know, I try to overlook those kind of things and and look at the positive, you know, you know the fun Area that they created the culture they've created and you know, it's a lot of fun and there's there's several clubs that we've been to that are over a hundred years old or you know in the fourth fourth generation of family that's own it's it's actually
a lot of fun to share with those people.
They've got crazy history that goes back to maybe mobsters,
flying the licker, throwing a
fish and kind
of stuff.
That's so great.
Our guests are Jim and Michelle from the Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers.
Follow them on various social media platforms.
Monica
and Mount Horeb says definitely a salad bar with the packaged crackers, dry breadsticks, and cheese bread, a grasshopper, and possibly...
I can't read a pasta dish.
So when we come back, I'm gonna ask Jim and Michelle what their favorite supper club meal is and we'll do, they can answer our question of the night.
That's coming up next after this very short break.
Don't go anywhere.
This is Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach and Night Light.
Welcome
back.
This is Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
I'm in Christmas City, USA, Marinette, Wisconsin.
Greg is in Radio Park in Racine and Dom is holding down the fort.
in Madison.
It's great to have you with us tonight on this Friday, a casual Friday here on Nightlight.
And we have to tell you guys that the Brewer's Game has been postponed.
Greg, I'm sorry.
I know that's a big deal for
you.
I was going to go to Kansas City tonight.
Now I'm very upset.
My plane ticket is useless at this point.
What am I going to go for?
Like the sun and the fun?
My goodness.
You have an excuse not to go now because the trailer is
a hassle.
All right, so our guests at the moment are Jim and Michelle.
They are the Wisconsin Supper Club chasers.
They're joining us now from a hotel room somewhere in Wisconsin.
We won't say where, but they are, they've already been to a Supper Club today.
They're going out to another one tonight.
That is dedication.
I want to ask you guys, our question of the night is what is your perfect Supper Club meal?
Like what do you typically order?
Or what is the quintessential Supper Club meal and
cocktail?
I think a lot of people would say fish fry on Friday, prime rib on Saturday, broasted chicken on Sunday, and some type of steak, any of those days or other days of the week.
Fortunately, we love all food.
except that I always used the saying, my mom loves liver and I don't care for it.
But which one of us is right, which is why I keep the page positive and don't say that I know better than what you know is what you like.
But fortunately, we eat a lot of different foods when we're at supper clubs.
um you know we'll we'll enjoy a filet or uh you know rib eye um and probably prefer a filet but that's not you know for everybody um but we'll do we'll do fish fry on Fridays but you know they may have a special dish like a pasta dish or you know sometimes some of the supper clubs might have a an Italian type thing but uh you know we
We'll eat all different foods.
And I think that's part of the attraction to the page is a lot of people come to the page.
They're not going to always see us eating primary up every night.
And I heard your caller called in and talked about a salad bar.
Of course, I love a salad bar
as much as
anybody does, but it doesn't necessarily in the world of supper clubs today define a supper club as to whether they have a salad bar or not.
Usually, they at least have a super salad choice, but it's nice if they have a super and salad bar.
It's kind of nice.
Raleigh Tray is a big one.
People love to get a
or relish tray with their meal.
I would say I do as well, but not every supper club serves those.
Some of them have gotten away from them.
You know, there were some issues with salad bars and relish trays and some other things, you know, through COVID and whatnot.
But, you know, our perfect meal is probably every meal.
I mean, it's really hard.
I love that.
I know.
But you know what we try to do?
We try to order different things.
So I'll
order one thing short or something else.
If I get soup, she'll get salad.
We try to ask if they have maybe a homemade dressing, if it's not a salad bar.
So we try to get different things.
We'll get an appetizer.
We'll get dessert sometimes.
I was on track last a bunch of supper clubs that I've been to where we ordered three meals and even one time four meals.
Just
so that we can show off a lot of the different food that's at a place.
We have a lot of fun when we go.
And, you know, and I'll joke around and say, don't judge me.
It's your fault because you guys want to see, you know, all these different groups this place serves.
So, you
know, I want to join this Wisconsin supper club.
Yeah, we hear that a lot.
Yeah, we hear that a lot.
And I always say, you know, come and finance us and we'll be happy to.
Yeah, we gotta get a big corporate sponsor, you know, brought to you by whatever.
We
also live on our leftovers.
We do, yeah.
We never, we never waste
anything
from a couple of nights ago.
We had a ribeye and this morning she, she put it together with some eggs and some roasted vegetables and fresh roasted vegetables and turned it into a whole
another, you know, a
nice breakfast this morning.
Can we never waste anything?
That's great.
Pete, I know you wanted to ask Michelle a question before we got out of here.
We have just like two more minutes left.
But Pete, go ahead and ask a question.
Yeah, Michelle, you're a musician.
You have a music background.
I know you said you do or Jim said you do some of the music for the videos.
What music do you like to hear when you enter a supper club?
And what do you think complements a supper club when you're thinking music?
Definitely the rap peck music is what I'm excited about when they have it, and I'm really excited if there's live music.
That's what I want to hear.
You
don't
get that a lot, but when there is live music, I make sure we sit by it.
The last time I went to the Hobnob in Pleasant Prairie, there was a three-piece jazz trio, and it just makes everything better.
We were there when you were there,
maybe.
It's
such a good vibe.
Yes, absolutely.
I totally agree with you.
That's the perfect answer.
I thought you were going to say, like, jazz piano, which I like too, but the rat pack, the crooners, that's fantastic.
It's got to be the
crooners.
If you guys are ever in Marinette at Christmas City, USA, let me know.
I'll come out on me.
I'll buy you a piece of cheesecake.
All
right.
And we'll have three fourths,
but
it's on me.
All right.
You guys, this was so much fun.
Thank you so much.
Please come back.
I'm sorry we couldn't make this happen in studio, but bear with us.
We'll have you back again and maybe we'll make it a bigger event.
When you get
a studio together, definitely.
Thank
you.
We'll come
back.
Yeah, we'll come back.
Maybe enjoy some old fashions or something together on the air.
That's a great idea.
We had me at Old Fashions.
Perfect.
Awesome.
I love it.
Safe travels, you guys, and keep us posted, and we'll do this again soon.
Thanks so much.
All right.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Have a good
night.
All right.
Jim and Michelle, give them a follow at the Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers.
I was looking at their posts earlier, and it's so much fun just to see.
You feel like you're in a supper club.
It's great.
All right.
We are coming back for act two after the news, and we're going to do the Brain Rock quiz.

I know he don't man.
I'll never get mine

Real quick, a repeat of the information that came to us in the first hour.
The Brewer's Game has been postponed for this evening.
It has been rained out.
They will play a double header tomorrow, 1235 and 535.
Those will be the broadcast start times here on Civic Media.
We are a Brewer's Network.
You cannot listen to the Brewer's Game on the app, though.
Cannot do that.
So you have to listen to it on terrestrial old school radio.
It'll be on WBZH WCQM WISS WJMS WRCE and WRJN.
If you want to listen to the Brewers game, a double header.
Oh, that's a lot of baseball for one day, but the Brewers game has been rained out.
Unfortunately, so that'll make my night easier with the headliner who is a Kansas City Royal fan.
So.
Greg is doing stand-up tonight ladies and gentlemen.
I am doing stand-up in a place in America that I'll just tell you I'll be an Oshkosh at a place called the fifth ward tonight 9
p.m.
So I'll be a feature I'll be like third on the list be really really fun to see some see Get on the road again for even but a moment do 15 minutes and get money enough to fill my gas tank
The feature spot which is weird because they call
they used to call you the middle act or the featured act.
And you'd think feature would mean headliner, but it doesn't.
Headliner means headliner, but that feature spot, Greg, I used to love.
25 minutes.
That's the sweet spot.
Just 25 minutes.
You don't, no one's there to see you.
You
get paid.
You get to do 25 minutes.
And if you're good, they love it.
If they don't like it, they don't care because they're going to go talk to the headliner anyways.
The thing I always hated.
Whether it was me on stage or being at the show watching it happen is when someone would say, you know, you're my favorite.
I didn't like the other two.
It's like, what are you doing?
Those are my friends you're
talking about.
You
don't know to pay a compliment, but I'll talk more about that on Monday.
If we want to talk about my standup show tonight, but yeah,
we want notes, dude,
but let's get back to the show.
We are in hour number two.
Don't
Don't go anywhere because in just a little bit, we'll be taking a brain rock quiz that has been put together by Mr. Dom Lee himself to see if Pete Schwabba and myself know the vernacular of the youth.
I have to say, I don't really even understand this quiz still.
I just know I'm supposed to know what words mean and that's all I know about it.
Is it multiple choice Tom?
It's not multiple choice.
You know what?
What we can do is you guys can combine forces and you guys can do the quiz together.
I think that might never
come out.
No, I'm not I didn't mean to make you I was just honestly I'm up for whatever and
I was
just saying I'm putting myself at the mercy of the court because I don't know I've never heard of these brain rockers.
We're about to find
out.
And then of course we wrap up everything with the nightcap where we find out we talk about what we've learned review and read through some text messages that got past us But speaking of text messages, let's get back to the question of the night Dom play the music.
Let's talk about the question question question question question question question
question This question
The question of the night is what is your supper club dinner and drink order call or text eight five five seven five two four eight four two eight five five seven five civic Leave a comment on that live stream again.
We are on Facebook YouTube and the platform We still call Twitter or get in touch with us via the civic media app
Pete yeah, it's a great question and I really enjoyed Jim and Michelle.
Let's let's start with our cell I do have to say this is kind of funny.
We did have a
Someone on the text line jewel mm-hmm said a relish tray is mandatory at a supper club Yeah, I mean he's having fun with it, but I know what he means yet that you do picture that at a supper club
I do I mean that's that's I mean that's a thing too is like They said so if you didn't if you're just joining us now we talked to Jim Jim and Michelle who are the Wisconsin supper club chasers They are on Facebook.
They are on Instagram.
They go to supper clubs I mean multiple times a day we found out they were going to
After
they got off
the air with us, they were going to their second one for the afternoon evening.
So you can find out more from them.
I had no idea that many were in Wisconsin.
It makes me, it begs the question for me then.
And I, and I don't like, and I didn't ask this question because I didn't want it to sound insulting to their intelligence, to what they're doing, but it feels like then there's a loose definition of what a supper club might be then.
Because to me, my thoughts of a supper club are like, yeah, it's, it's
It's Midwest fancy in a way where it's, it's not hoity-toity, but you better wear a tie and there will be a relish tray and dad's going to have a cocktail because you kids have been a lot this week.
You know, like.
Do you think they're still like that with the tie?
I
think
society is just casual.
No, no, no You don't have to but like to me if I'm going to a supper club I'm gonna dress up a little bit doesn't have to be a tuxedo sewer tie It can be a nice dress shirt would be a sport coat But I want to you know, I don't go to them often one of my Jim and Michelle from Wisconsin supper club chasers I don't go to them often so I want to enjoy the entire experience because that's cuz there's one thing there's like going out to dinner But a supper club is like a conversation starter
Because people, especially in Wisconsin, will go, ooh, where?
What did you have?
What did you wear?
What did it look like?
Was there live music?
You know, it's a big deal.
So I didn't, yeah, again, I didn't realize there were that many.
And I would love to talk to them again, maybe some like deep dive breakdowns on a few, because that would be really cool.
Yeah, I think they were, the 220 was all over though, right?
That wasn't just in Wisconsin, I think.
Okay.
I thought they were Wisconsin only cause they are the Wisconsin supper club chasers, but Hey, Dom, can you do me a favor?
I'm looking at
him.
He's already on it.
That's, that's our radar right there.
Dominic AKA radar.
So okay, Pete, what is your supper club dinner and drink order?
All right.
So I did answer this on social media on Facebook and thank you for all your responses.
Everybody on social media will read those in just a moment, but I said steak or walleye.
I'm not a huge steak guy.
Like a steak, if it's done right, seasoned right is, I do like it.
But it's something about lemon and walleye and tartar sauce or something.
It just makes me feel like supper club summer, spending the day swimming all day.
So I'll probably lean toward walleye, some kind of potato.
And I love, love, love the salad bar.
I'll go back two or three times at the salad bar and love that merch cheese.
And then my cocktail.
Even though I don't drink anymore.
We
need to
get sponsored by Merck's cheese.
Honestly, has that product been mentioned more than three times in an hour anywhere else in the world?
Three times?
I think we've mentioned it at least a dozen.
And Dom, you came up with some information for us?
Yes, they are based only in Wisconsin.
They're based here, but he said they started touring them when they came back here.
But still, I mean, that's a lot of supper clubs.
So
I'm just
interested to know what the, what the parameters might be of what like a supper club versus a restaurant versus maybe like a country club outing, that kind of thing.
But to me, a supper club is a very unique experience.
And not just to Wisconsin, but when you're talking about a Wisconsin supper club, there's a feel.
and just a vibe that goes with it.
Dom, what about you?
What is your
supper club?
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Back to me.
I would not
say my drink
yet, pal.
Sorry, Faza.
Sorry, Faza.
I didn't mean to upset you.
Here's what's so crazy is I don't even drink anymore, necessarily.
But I would, with Walleye, an old-fashioned.
And somebody on the social media response has said, I'm Artini.
Love a martini too, but for supper club for fish for my meal.
I'm going old-fashioned.
All right, Dom
Okay,
I'm
gonna oh wow folks down you know strap in it's gonna get real right now intense I'm gonna go with I love shrimp, so I'm gonna go fried shrimp fried shrimp ladder love it I can have endless shrimp
I'm pretty good with a nice dinner roll on the side, and you know I can't go wrong with a nice nice butter dinner roll come on You know you're
pretty good meaning you don't you rarely drop it or what?
I just I can eat the whole thing Trust me.
I'm a big boy and then for the drink.
I agree with Pete I'll probably have of an old-fashioned.
I love an old-fashioned.
That's mine
Jeff on the Facebook, I just want to get through some of the, cause we, I've been talking lots of my apologies to everyone on the planet.
Jeff on Facebook says several doers and sodas.
Okay.
Followed by some type of steak.
Tiff says, I love living in Tennessee, but I sure do miss supper clubs for a special occasion, surf and turf.
Otherwise a steak medium rare and either a vodka gimlet or martini, a vodka gimlet.
Okay.
Matt says, old fashioned salad bar, soup, tenderloin, somewhere between four and eight beers.
My goodness.
Even after the cocktail.
Woo.
My goodness.
I apparently don't drink enough.
Mike Thesitel says almost any seafood, white milk.
Interesting.
And if I'm sitting at the bar, any zero soda or orange juice.
Okay.
Thank you,
sir.
And Dave says, ribeye, maybe grilled mushrooms.
Oh, grilled mushrooms in the, in the oil.
Oh, that's lovely.
So garlic mashed salad bar with blue cheese.
Ah, low.
I get down.
I, as I got no older, man, do I love blue cheese dressing
or
blue cheese period.
Take it easy.
Take it easy on the rolls.
That's how they get you.
Start
with a
Tullamurdu and finish with a double Baileys on the rocks.
My God.
We still have some more.
We'll get to throughout the show.
For me, it is going to be a steak rare plus with a side of asparagus if they have it and a potato of some sort.
And then for my cocktail, I'm either going to go with a glass of red and like a Cabernet or I'll go, I'll start things with an old fashioned.
That's how I would do it.
Okay.
What's the plus mean?
Rare plus, what does that mean?
So, so rare plus means that you are, they're going to cook it.
They're going to cook the steak to a rare point and then they're going to take it out and then it's going to cook itself from the plate to the table.
So it's going to be between rare and a medium rare, but it's right there.
And when you, when you cut it open and you see it, that, oh.
Change my life when I heard about rare plus give it a shot if you like if you like your steak rare medium rare Give it a shot once go for it is so good.
And and and if it's a steak place or a Supper Club, they'll know if you say rare plus they'll get you.
So yes, gosh now I'm on a steak
Well, you can stop on your way to Oshkosh.
You can just pull
over and
find a lack and grab it.
Just be like, like, guys, I'm not coming to the show.
I found a great supper club, and this is way better than comedy.
So pull over at Shriners and grab yourself.
Exactly.
When we come back, we're going to keep, we'll probably keep talking about food and merc's cheese, but we're also going to get to the brain rot quiz designed by our very own.
Don Lee, the guy in Madison on the ones and two, so don't go anywhere.
Keep sending us your thoughts on your supper club dinner and drink order 8557 5248 428555 75 civic leave a comment on that live stream.
You are listening and or watching.
Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach here on the Civic Media Network.
Stay tuned.
Stay close.
Welcome back to Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach here on the Civic Media Network.
Do not forget, folks, if you are looking to tune into the Brewers game tonight, unfortunately, it has been postponed due to a rainout.
It will be going on tomorrow.
There will be a double header.
You can always tune into Civic Media for that if you have the radio stations required because you cannot listen to it on the app.
You must listen to Terrestrial Radio, but there are plenty of places.
WBZH, WCQM, WISS, JMS,
R C E N W R J N will all have brewers action going on tomorrow for the double header for our rescheduled rain out game tonight against the Kansas City Royals.
So check that out if you can be part of the brewers action here on Civic Media.
We are coming to you live.
I am here in radio park in Racine.
Pete is all the way up in Christmas city, USA and Marinette and all the way over in, um, we love holiday town.
Madison is Dom Lee on the boards.
He's doing the ones and twos.
He's not only that he's there, he's our tech producer, Pete.
Yeah.
He's also our anchor in the world of the youth.
So we understand what the youth are going through and how they're understanding life.
And I think that's an important connective tissue to have on a show like this.
Cause we're old, but here's the thing is that Dom put together a great way to not challenge us, but to teach us.
He put together a quiz.
To see how well we know the vernacular of the kids.
Dom?
Tell us what's gonna be happening
right now.
Absolutely, absolutely.
Alright.
So this is a brain rot quiz.
How does it work?
I will read a slang sort of brain rot word.
And if you guys define the word correctly, you guys get a point, all right?
You guys going up against each other, all right?
It's gonna be Pete versus Greg.
You
guys like buzz in or we each get a guess?
You each get a guess, all right?
You each get a guess.
Gentlemanly, okay.
Gentleman, just be nice to each other.
And if you're wrong, no point.
Wrong, no point, okay?
I'll keep score.
Loser gets roasted at the end.
There we go, that's how we go.
Do I
get
a participation
award?
You absolutely do, all right?
Well, I'll give you that.
This is
being run by a Gen Z-er, so of course you do.
Absolutely.
I'm not
against those, I'm just saying.
All right, guys.
You guys know the rules?
You guys ready to play?
Yep.
Let's do this.
Yes.
All right.
Bring it.
The first word, and Greg already said this, but it is Riz.
What is the, what does it mean?
What does it mean?
I'll
let Greg
go first.
Greg can go
first.
It means charisma.
It means how much charisma do you have?
Wow.
Okay.
I actually didn't know that one.
Yeah,
oh, oh Hey folks, he gave me one.
What a great magnanimous host partner here.
My goodness.
Okay, so
that that was an easy one You guys each get a point there question.
They're gonna get harder.
Okay.
Be careful here.
We each get a point He didn't I answered it.
That's yeah, I answered it correctly.
I could have disagreed with you I'm not just gonna go along
with it.
Whatever you
say.
Yeah.
Yeah
Okay
question number two
almost
less faith in you than I do myself so don't worry about that ouch word number two is Ohio what does what is what is the definition of Ohio all right it's not what you think
this is why boomers hate you
okay middle of the road
okay great
Boring That's a good answer
Something weird or out of the ordinary you guys are wrong no point
You are wrong no points you failures are each at one still with the word
wait a
minute go back Ohio is something weird
Yes, it says for example.
I'm gonna say you know that that horse
It is jumping on that cow.
Oh, only in Ohio.
So there we
go.
Oh, that's so lame.
That feels like they should go full speed.
This is why everyone
hates your
generation.
What?
Because of stuff like
that.
Where is I get?
Uh-huh.
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
All right.
So you guys are still at one third word.
How many questions, by the way, are in this quiz?
Five.
We'll do five.
Five.
Okay.
All right.
All
right.
All right.
Third.
The word is mewing.
Mewing.
This is a recent brain rot word, but it's very popular.
Yes.
What does it mean to find it?
You want me to go first?
Yeah, go ahead.
Yeah That's when someone smiles and kind of sucks in their cheekbones a little bit and just sort of tries to pose like they're a model Okay, I'm
Okay I'm gonna say it's like leering or being
creepy.
Okay.
I'm Pete gets that point
Pete gets that point because it is a jaw exercise and it's sucking in your, you're, you're exactly right, Pete.
I don't know how, how do you know that?
Okay.
That is cheater.
Cheating.
Two to one.
Hold on a second.
Question number four.
All right.
The word is glazing.
What does glazing mean?
Define it.
This doesn't
feel like an
FCC compliant word.
Is it what I'm gonna do after the show for ten points Pat?
Blazing
sounds like glazing sounds like you know, we're gonna we're gonna you know go out and have fun It's gonna be have a good time.
We're gonna go glaze and we're gonna just glaze this glaze the city.
Okay,
not not a bad guess.
You know
what?
Yeah, you know what?
That's condescending Pete what do you
guess?
All right, this is so obvious and stupid.
I'm sorry, but make a donut run
Both are wrong.
It is over hyping or praising someone too much.
All right, so
All right, well,
I let's let's do this because we're about to go to break So let's leave that last question.
Where are we at?
We're at two to one.
It's two
to one.
Yes, two to one We still have one more question.
Yeah, we have five questions.
You made five questions Just five didn't you not just listen when I asked him like
45
seconds before
the break.
I have more in my arsenal, but right, you know.
Okay, great.
All right, well, we'll get to more of the questions that make Pete and I feel incredibly old and out of touch.
So, and folks, if you're over the age of friendship, tell us the words that you hear on a regular basis that you have no idea what they mean.
Text them in, call them in, 855-752-484-2855.
755-756, leave a comment on that live stream.
You are listening and or watching Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach here on the Civic Media Network.

We are currently streaming on Facebook, YouTube and the platform.
We still call Twitter still ahead.
We're going to wrap everything up for the week with our nightcap where we talk about what we've learned on the show today, but also get to some of those texts we may have missed throughout the program.
We still want to hear from you folks out there about the question of the night and that is what is your supper club dinner and drink order when you're going out enjoying a supper club, whether it's Wisconsin or anywhere, you know, it's not just in Wisconsin, but what is your
your supper club drink order as well as your dinner order.
Let us know right now.
Be a part of that conversation.
When we broke for a moment there, Dom was just about to finish up his brain rock quiz.
Well, guess what folks, we're not even near over it because he's got some, well, some more questions.
So.
I think we need to we need to we need to get back into this.
It's it's a two-to-one Slog right now Pete's in in first place.
I am in Second place or as some call it losing
I got two oh cuz I'm yep.
Yeah cuz cuz he cuz he cuz he gave you Riz even though I answered it, but that's fine I'm good.
I'm fine You could have taken my answer from you though Greg you have that option.
I don't I don't I don't have hate in my heart
Okay, let's keep it going guys.
Let's keep we have
six questions.
All right six class questions left.
All right.
Yep
This question this is it's
not a
question.
This is what is the word it is cooked?
What is it?
What does it mean?
What does it mean?
Oh
see I know this before I know that I know the way I want to say I want to say I want to yeah you go first because I want to say what I want to say but I know that it's old-time parlance in the way so it's got to be something else
I think it just means you're done.
It's over.
You got spanked, crushed, whatever.
I think it means, I think that's what I think it means in the original sense, but I think what it means now is you did really well.
You succeeded.
You're number one.
Well, Pete gets that point.
Pete gets that point.
I hate everything.
Objection.
Objection.
Formal protest.
That is not, that is not a word of the youth then.
That is a word that's been used in that context for decades.
I have a true question.
You didn't make it up.
Listen, I say it all the time.
I'm saying, oh man, you are so cooked.
You're done for, man.
You are done for.
Don's generation is taking credit for that.
But that is not even close to being a word of the youth then.
That's a word that we've used when we were like, that's, you didn't, you didn't invent that up.
This is this quizzes all right well an hour an hour and a half ago Pete's like I'm gonna do so poorly at this
All right
word
Smith yes,
I'm gonna tell
you all right so Pete word something three to one We're gonna keep going all right this next
word
this one's gonna be a tricky one.
This is it's called phantom tax What does the word phantom tax mean?
Oh?
This
one's tough
Is it something that like makes you feel like stressed out, but isn't really like isn't important isn't real like you're putting too much thought into for something It doesn't matter
Pete.
Is that your guess?
Okay.
Oh Phantoms tax is when you It's it's when you text someone who's passed away
Both are incorrect.
Both are incorrect.
It's
someone
can I still no no no no
What's your
what's your second he can have a half a point?
Oh, okay.
I don't want a point I'm just I just heard this and it's bothering
me to say
something is tax for something that you don't have anything to do with or a tax you shouldn't have to pay it
It's I'll tell you it's someone it's
someone who steals your food.
It's more food base It's someone who's who kind of like steals something like oh, I'm gonna phantom tax your pizza right now.
Thank you.
I'm fan
of
dumbest thing.
That is so stupid Seriously, that's what it is.
You know and yet you guys are like we made up the word cooked.
No, you didn't all right Yeah, that doesn't even make sense like it's like you guys are like throwing Darts at a board with words and saying I don't know like you know
Kentucky race horse.
You're like, yeah, totally right am I right?
Okay, no
one
got the point still no one got the point It's three to one still Pete is winning.
All right.
Yeah, I know we're aware We're all aware it's winning
all right.
We have four questions left four words left jam the word is skibbity skibbity
I Don't know does I only I only know in context of skibbity toilet and I don't even know what that means
So I just I'm going to bow out on this one.
I have no idea.
It just means like maybe like Woo-hoo.
Yeah.
All right, let's do it.
I don't know.
God.
I hate myself
Pass no, I'm kidding.
I'll say uh Skibbity doo-dah skibbit.
No skibbity means you are you're exiting
Mmm both wrong man.
This is a hard quit both incorrect.
It means to be dumb
Like, oh man, you are way too skibbity for me.
Oh,
so like, I'm skibbity at this quiz.
There we go.
You might get a half a point for that one.
Good job.
You weren't supposed to agree with that one, Dom.
Because of your limiting intelligence, I'm giving you a half a point.
I have all of your bosses on speed dial.
Do you
understand me?
I
plead the fifth.
All right.
Three more questions to go.
It's still three to one, Pete.
Just got to re-ask it.
The word is schlog.
Slog
whoa what this is
okay.
Listen.
It's not it's not bad.
It's not bad Slog.
What is the word slog mean?
This
is why no one believes in our education system
the word combination laborious penis comes to mind because of that term I know that's not it, but go ahead.
No, I will say slog is the word yes
slog
I will say just
Trying hard, but it's like it's just it's just not working.
It's like it's getting you down You're like trying.
Oh man, like that's that's how I would define it Don't tell me if I'm right or wrong let me answer I can tell I written your disappointing breath that I got it wrong
ready down
go ahead bargain air travel
It
is
it is another word for a dog schlog hello my schlog is right here
That's my dog.
That is so dumb.
I weep for the future.
This is not what God intended.
Oh, man,
I'm sorry.
Again,
I'm not mad at you, Dom.
Oh, I am so mad at you.
You're repping your gen.
Yeah, I'm, you know, this is, you know,
I don't
say shlok though.
Okay, two more words.
All right, still
three
to one.
The word is looks maxing.
Looks maxing.
Oh,
I know this.
I think I know this one, too.
Ooh.
Who wants to go for actually you know what Greg you go you're down you go first.
Oh great.
Oh, thank you.
Thank you for reminding me.
I I Don't remember I just heard this one to the other day someone they'd set it in context of social media like yeah like trying to like doing everything you can to look good whether it's surgery makeup like
Whatever it may be stuff in stuff in your bra stuff in your pants looks maxing that is what you that's what that's what I thought it was Okay, I can't look at anybody right now.
Here's what a sport.
I am Here's what a good guy.
Oh boy.
That was kind of
gonna be my answer
to and modest to
So I'm gonna say I'm gonna looks
Looks maxing
I'm just gonna say that you're you're you're putting a picture out of
You're using AI to, to doctor a photo of yourself.
I'm giving the point to Greg.
He got it right.
It is improving your appearance.
You're right.
That, it's two to three.
Two to three.
Oh boy.
Good job Greg.
Thanks, thanks dog.
I gotta, gotta say, rehash that.
The final question, this is to, well, I guess this is a tie, Greg, okay?
I
don't have
another, I'm sorry.
The word is Sigma.
Sigma.
Define
it.
I like how he says it twice, like it's gonna like, you know.
Pete, what do you think?
That's Sigma.
Don't be all Sigma, yo.
Wow.
Okay.
Lazy.
Okay.
A way of speaking to your parents.
Yes.
Good guess, but an incorrect guess, Greg.
I'm sorry, Pete wins.
The definition was typically someone who is in charge.
He is a Sigma.
He is in charge, which- Wait, what did
Pete say?
Okay, that already exists.
Alpha.
Wait, what was Pete's answer again?
I didn't even, I was, when Pete talks, I don't pay attention.
What would he say again?
What did, Lazy.
Yeah, it was something
lazy.
Lazy, laying around chilling,
lazy.
But that's not the answer.
Exactly.
Like you said to
me.
Thank
you
Pete, I
understand I thought you meant you were giving him the point because okay, all right Here's the thing is here's the thing is there's something very comforting about losing this because I don't really care about knowing Because here's the thing is if I walk into a place first of all everyone's gonna look at me going hey someone's dad's here to pick them up, but also like
If I come at, with the exception of Cook, that one I take issue with, that one is... But those words are not for me, so therefore me not knowing them actually gives me comfort, because I'm not gonna try to do that.
Like, I'll...
Talk to young people, that's fine, but I'm not going to try to speak their lingo because I will look like a moron.
Like I'm from Ohio.
I
will talk to young people.
You stopped it so old just saying that.
I will have conversations with youth from time to time.
We'll talk about how they're doing.
I'll tell them about my stories.
They'll make them feel inferior because I'm older because age.
I will watch
a sports contest and occasionally slap five with a friend, however.
That's funny.
Oh boy.
The Packers scored high five.
Well, I'm
glad you guys participated.
I'm glad.
Yeah, it was fun.
It was fun.
What are we doing here?
I'm not sweating.
That's Pete.
There's three of those though.
I thought we're so stupid though.
I mean, some of them were really, really dumb.
Slog?
Slog?
Slog?
Slog.
Yes,
the
real thing.
Man
seriously, I'm glad enough kids so
We have a few more minutes left and I wanted to get to something.
I talked about this on the break.
This is the thing when we, when we have our conversations on the live stream regarding supper clubs, I want to get back to this for one really quick thing.
By the way, you can still always send in your information as far as like, what is your supper, supper club and drink order?
8557 5248 4285 575 civic leave that comment on the live stream.
If you'd like send in your information on the civic media app, but I
You know, you got, you mentioned it and Jim from Jim and Michelle from the Wisconsin supper club.
Chasers mentioned this.
I would never eat a fish fry at a supper club.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, a supper club, and this is, and it's not against anyone who does it.
I don't belittle supper clubs that offer fish fries, of course, because it's Wisconsin.
Of course they're going to offer them.
But if I go to a supper club,
I want to have something in my opinion, a fish fry is not fancy.
And in my head, a supper club is kind of fancy.
So I want to have fancy or food.
So if I see fish, like a piece of fish, like a good piece of salmon or something, maybe, but I would never have like a fish fry at a supper club.
That's just my opinion.
Don't at me.
Don't get mad.
You can have all the fish you want.
But that's just like for me, in my head, a supper club means steak or
You know, I don't know prime rib.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Or like a good piece of chicken, like a bro, like they said a broasted chicken or something of that sort.
But yeah, just I would never order a fish fry at a supper club.
I thought that one of the textures I think was Monica said pasta and I don't equate pasta with a supper club either.
But
yeah, unless it's like a side dish, but I would, I mean, I'll beat up some pasta.
I don't have a problem with that.
Speaking of having no problems, I have no problem with wrapping up the show tonight with the nightcap, which is coming up.
in a little bit we talk about what we've learned get to some more text messages as well as comments for our question of the night you can still drop your answers in the civic in the comments on the live stream on the text line or on facebook or app but don't go anywhere you're listening to and or watching nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach on the Civic Media Network stay tuned and stay close
Welcome back to Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach here on the Civic Media Network.
If you are, if you want to call or text, give us your thoughts on the question of the night.
What is your supper club dinner?
and drink order 855-752-4842-8557-5CIVIC.
You can leave a comment on that live stream.
We are live streaming on Facebook, YouTube and the platform.
We still call Twitter.
We're going to get to some more texts, some more thoughts on that as well.
And yeah, we love having y'all be a part of the show, be part of the conversation.
Let's see here.
Before we get out of here, I want to talk about Monday's show.
We're going to be talking to climatologist.
Yeah, climate.
I said that right.
Climateologist and science communicator Tom D. Roberto.
Uh, he is going to be joining us to talk about the expected winter weather for this spring and how to stay optimistic about unpredictable forecast and the seasons.
And then we'll also be talking to the founder of Wisconsinology, Fred Anders.
He'll be talking about, uh, what did I say?
Did I say Fred Anders, which is actually a really cool name.
I don't know the, I don't know that the, the, the lexicon of the youth and I don't know how to read Frank Anders will be on the show to chat a little about Wisconsin history.
So that'll be really fun.
That's coming up on Monday's show.
And if you missed
anything today or any of the shows, go to civicmedia.us slash shows, look for nightlight or any other civic media program that you like, download episodes, listen to them on the go, subscribe to them as a podcast and buy two things.
One, if you get us as a podcast, leave a five-star review and it really helps with visibility and population.
Also, tell one person about us.
That's it.
Just tell one person about us and let them be a part of the show as well.
So, this was...
Yeah.
I mean, if you want to, but I'm just saying, I'll keep it simple.
People got, people got stuff going on.
So if you can tell one person this weekend, I'll be happy.
This was a fun casual Friday show guys.
I had a really good time.
Very casual.
I'm kind
of
upset.
I wore a shirt with a collar.
Forgot it was casual Friday.
It's like the kid that shows up at picture day and has like a Metallica t-shirt on, but
That was me.
But you did it on purpose
probably.
Absolutely.
No, I wore the Metallica t-shirt underneath like a, a, a, a authorized shirt for my, cause I, I didn't have uniforms in high school, but you couldn't wear certain shirts.
But I was always wear like the metal shirt underneath and would show it just enough.
You're like, Oh, he's wearing a Slayer t-shirt.
So nice.
But let's, while we're a, you know, getting our, giving our thoughts away for the folks here, let's move our way into, let's grab our favorite drink, whatever that may be.
and let's move it into the nightcap.
Love it.
It's time to wind it down.
This is Nightcap with Greg and Pete.
It's just so relaxing.
It is.
I'm ready for the weekend now.
Yeah.
Really quick before we comment that came in a while ago, Sydney politics.
Hello, Sydney.
Happy New Year.
Happy
New Year.
He says it's a controversy.
It's a controversy among Rachel's family, but I always do the fried perch at supper clubs when we go to the fish fries.
And for the drink, it's a Shirley Temple.
That's a good mortar.
That's
a very good
order.
Enjoy that very, very much.
Sydney and Rachel are awesome.
Yeah.
I look forward to meeting them someday.
Let's see here, did we?
Let's see here.
We've
got on social media Greg,
we've
got Sean Boyce who says prime rib and cut, rare, lion eggs potato.
Oh yeah, lion eggs potatoes and asparagus spears roasted with a whiskey old-fashioned Woodford Reserve if they haven't.
Oh man, I went to a concert once where Woodford Reserve for some reason was on sale.
Oh really?
So good.
The pixies are awesome.
Jody says a petite filet.
That's always good.
That's one of the deceiving things.
When people get their minds on steak, they think, oh, man, I need the old 96 or six to 10 ounces is enough plenty.
It's especially especially when we're going supper club because you're going to have more food.
So Jody says a petite filet with a baked or garlic smashed potato and a glass of red wine.
Oh, that sounds amazing.
Jody, I love that.
Jay also says Manhattan T bone or prime rib.
There you
go.
Uh, Dan Davies, our pal Dan Davies has 10 old fashions and then the salad bar.
It's all about
balance.
The question should have been like, what is your favorite drinks?
Yeah.
My goodness and do you and do you eat any food at the supper club?
And then Tiff says funny supper club story a couple of years ago I was visiting my daughter who lives west of Madison and we were out for dinner at the supper club It was winter time in the middle of the meal everyone's phone started sounding an emergency weather alert folks poised in the air People checking their phones unexpected snow squall as soon as the so the sound stopped everyone just resumed eating and
Many folks ordered an extra drink.
God of love, Wisconsin.
That's a great text.
Thank you.
Ever.
Do we have any roads?
Oh, okay.
Perch
always in a
brand new
fashion suite with two cherries, Jeff Schmidt, several doers and so does followed by some type of steak.
I'll take a brand new old, uh, brandy Alexander two for getting dessert drinks.
And then really quick, we got some more on the text line here.
Everett in Sun Prairie listening to WMDX.
Got to say it's not Wisconsin approved, but I love a.
A bullet, rye old fashioned, no sugar, splash of soda with pine ridge.
All you can eat fried walleye, fried chicken, fried bread.
Wow.
And cranberry coleslaw.
It's a lot of fried, but for my money, the most satisfying in the great state of Wisconsin.
And then finally, Anna in Madison listening says, hi, Pete and Greg.
My go-to supper club meal would be Friday fish fry, cod, coleslaw, and potato salad, a glass of white wine, and key lime pie with cheesecake for a dessert.
I love the mother glory.
I'm hungry.
All right, folks.
We got to get out of here, but really quick Pete really quick.
What did you learn tonight?
I learned that supper clubs rule
kind
of very
suspected as much confirmed.
Yes.
Yep.
I learned that Pete knows a lot about the lingo of kids.
So that sounds creepy.
No, it's just you're informed.
You're way more informed than I am in the skibbity.
All right.
So
three hours.
So, Ohio, I have no idea what you're saying.
All right.
Hey, Greg, knock him dead tonight
buddy.
Thank you very, very much.
I will definitely try to be talking.
on behalf of Pete, I want to thank Dominic Tucker and traffic and engineering for all the work they do.
They make sure these microphones turn on when the show begins.
Everyone who called text thanks to Jim and Michelle from Wisconsin, Supper Club chasers for being here.
We really appreciate you.
All those who participated tonight got in touch with us without you.
There is no us.
So we completely appreciate you from top to bottom.
So thank you so much.
Don't go anywhere.
There's still lots of great programming coming up on civic media.
We will talk to you on Monday.
Same bat time, same bat station.
Have a great weekend.
Take care.
Happy Easter.
Happy Good Friday.
I forgot to mention that too.
But Pete,
Say goodnight to the folks.
Goodnight Wisconsin.
