Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba and Greg Bach · Thu Mar 5, 2026
From Washington to Hollywood and right back to Wisconsin.
It's Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Connecting the dots on the stories shaping our world with smart takes, sharp humor, and plenty of personality.
You know, I really expected more professional behavior from you.
It's news and culture without the noise.
Yeah, I'm on!
Here's Pete Schwabba.
Dude.
And Greg Bach.
Dude!
Just a couple dudes
dude
Welcome everybody.
This is night light as you just heard I am Pete Schwabba and sitting across from me is My partner in crime tonight the amazingly talented mr. Greg Bach and working the board Yeah, is the guy I like to call Dom Lee a lot of other people call him different stuff But he'll always be Dom Lee to me.
Oh, you'll always be Dom Lee to me Don't sue us Billy Joel
welcome to nightlight that is
Greg, you're a musical guy.
Do you sing?
Did you ever, when you were in bands, did you sing?
Yes, I was a lead singer, a backup vocalist.
I'm sort of a jack of all trades when it comes to a band situation.
I like to be able to play whatever is necessary and do whatever is necessary in a band because that's how you get hired.
That's you got to know everything like in radio.
I'm amazed everybody.
I meet here at civic media like knows how to run the board.
They know how to do this.
They want to fix a tower and they've been on air.
I'm like, all right, I got some catching up to do.
But
either way, it's good.
Well, the tower is falling now.
Pete, go grab it.
I'm just kidding.
Engineers towers not falling.
Everything's fine.
We
don't have a tower.
Here's what did fall.
Let me get your opinion on this.
I have a bring
it
guys
bring it bring it
bring it take any I don't have a running feud with the people that collect my trash every week But inevitably every time I go out there.
Yeah, my cans are down on the ground and My neighbors are still upright.
Okay, so I feel like they're trying to send me a message.
I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist I don't know why they'd be sending me a message but
It's happened, I would say four or five times out of the last 10 weeks.
What do
you mean?
Okay.
Well, first of all, never say I have a beef with my garbage people and then don't fall and then, and then say, I'm not, I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist because you will.
I would say this.
Okay.
What day is your trash pickup?
Tuesday.
Tuesday.
Do you know about time?
You know, is there a regular like, is it, they come the morning afternoon?
Well, it varies a little bit, but typically late morning.
Okay.
I would do this.
I would maybe, if you can remember, because we all got busy lives, maybe on Tuesday, you just sort of pay attention, have some coffee, watch out the window and see what happens.
Because if they're knocking them over,
That's an interesting question if no one else is getting knocked over see what is it the pre is it how you're presenting them?
Is it a way?
I mean maybe you're putting stuff in there.
They don't like I don't know I have no idea is that the specific placement of the trash bins where they are At your curb.
I have no idea.
I would say do some real digging on there I would run an experiment watch for yourself and see what happens
and
report back
You know, I here's the thing
When they damage the can, they give us the cans and they're not
cans.
They're like the big plastic bins.
So I feel like if they're going to beat up my cans for some reason, they're just going to replace them.
So I don't put that much into it.
I also put a big sticker on the side of each can that says, how's my garbage putting out?
Call 1-800-EAT-BLANK.
Really?
Or is that a
joke?
Oh
my god, I would never do that.
Listen to what we're talking about right now, and then you say you do that.
I have every right to be like, really?
Okay, all right.
Okay, fair enough.
No, I'm just gonna get a ring cam, I think.
Don't get around.
They share stuff with Elise.
Yeah, I mean, that's what my other suggestion was going to be is just set up a camera for that, for that like couple hours and see what happens.
I mean, I feel like it's a big enough thing that you brought it up here to the show.
You want to find out more?
Well, listen, I have,
I have
garbage man.
I was a garbage man in the past, a summer job in college.
I collected garbage.
I smelled bad meat, horrible milk.
I see what, you know,
Um, I see what happens.
I've, I've seen the inner workings.
So I have a little bit of respect for these guys, but I, I feel like if my cans keep taking a beating, there's going to be hell to pay.
Okay.
You heard it here, folks.
You heard it here first.
Pete Schwabba threatening municipal workers in the Marionette
area, not municipal workers.
That's a private company.
I would
never
threaten municipal workers.
I have too
much.
I mean, that's another question you can always bring up is privatizing that kind of stuff.
Good for the community.
I could talk about that for a while, but I'm not going to because we want to have some fun tonight.
Let's get to it.
We have such a good show for you ahead today.
In this hour, we're talking to Patrick Dahan, who is the head of petroleum analysis at gas buddy.
I love this.
I love that we had a talk with him about this, talking about gas prices.
And then in the second hour, we're talking to civic media's very own Stuart J waddles about, you know, his job, what's going on, but he's also bringing us the popcorn pick of the week.
Stuart just an outstanding job covering news for Southeast Wisconsin here at Civic Media.
And he's he's a bit of a he's kind of turned into kind of a music guy.
So I figured this
is
going to work out well because our question of the night has to do with music.
Stuart
will weigh in on
that.
And then after the news, he'll give us the popcorn pick of the week.
It'll be fun.
I just want to say I'm very excited to have someone from an actual app on the show tonight.
Which app is that there, Pete?
Yes, buddy, Greg.
Oh, I thought you meant, I thought you meant the civic media app.
We've got two people from apps today
because
gas buddy.
Yes.
A wonderful app.
Very, very, very, very, very good.
I was trying to think of a better word, but I couldn't.
It's good.
Um, but also the civic media app, you can hear.
Stuart J Waddle is on the Civic Media app because he gives all the news for Southeastern Wisconsin.
You can download the app, listen to live shows, talk or music.
You can get your news.
You can get whatever you need.
You can talk to us, call text or send a voice message.
It's all right there on the Civic Media app.
So not only, not only do we have one app, we have two app people on the night.
It's all about the apps.
It's all about the apps, baby.
Phone lines are always open 8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2-8-5-5-7-5-CIVIC.
And I think without further ado, speaking of overrated bands, we need to get to tonight's question of the night.
Let's talk about the question.
OK, question.
Question.
Question.
Pregunta.
Question.
Question.
OK, I have a question.
Questions.
This question.
Domanda.
Question.
Question.
Questions.
Oh, here we go.
You ready for this, Greg?
Yeah.
Yeah.
What rock star or band is seriously?
overrated.
What rockstar or band is seriously overrated?
Let us know.
Be part of the show.
I just mentioned the text line.
You can also text in on the app or if you're watching the radio on YouTube, Facebook or ex Twitter, you can drop us a stream comment, be part of the fun.
And as always, you're welcome to weigh in on anything Greg and I are talking about tonight.
We love to hear your opinions.
And that goes for you too, Dom.
All right.
I will take that into consideration.
Dom, what are your opinions?
I have no.
Thanks for letting us know.
All right.
We're moving on now.
I'm just kidding.
I like that I'm where he comes back at you a little bit.
That's fantastic.
I mean, he controls the microphones.
I have to be nice to him.
He's
really having it.
That's awesome.
All right.
So we've got some things to talk about, Greg.
We do have some things to talk about.
Yes, we do.
The first big story.
I
mean,
there's no getting around it.
It broke earlier today.
Christie Nome, now the former secretary of the department of Homeland security being let go by the president earlier this afternoon.
I honestly, like I don't, I'm not, I'm surprised it happened now versus say, you know, a couple of weeks ago when it was, I feel like it would have been even more, I don't want to say justified, but when they were calling for her to be fired,
uh, after the shooting deaths of Nicole, good and Alex, Freddie, but it just happened today on a Friday.
Uh, the president tweeted it out on true social that he is, that she is going to be gone.
She has the, she has the, uh, she's going out the door and in her place, uh, Pete in her place,
Mark Wayne Mullins, buddy.
Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne
Mullen.
Let's talk about him, but first her.
This is kind of perplexing.
First of all, she might be let go by her husband, too, if these rumors are true that senators were bringing up.
That was kind of strange, but in this administration, what do you have to do to get fired?
Apparently this.
Apparently this, but it's perplexing
to me.
I
was
actually shocked when I saw this.
if you look at if you look at everything so if you you know this is this is all AI research really quick it's an overview but it's plausible because people have talked about this so people believe her mishandling of the DHS and all the things regarding ice agents specifically in Minneapolis there's there she has been lambasted by
members of Congress, both on the Republican and the Democratic side money handling money as far as like, you know, mismanaging this $220 million for an ad campaign, plain controversies, the Corey Lewandowski thing.
Everything she has done that people are pointing to has been done by other people.
And they're staying in their jobs.
And I just want to bring up a point here.
Pete Hegseth, who is the is the secretary of home.
He is I'm sorry, he is the secretary of defense.
He
spoke about private military plans on a signal chat with a reporter on there that he invited into the chat and talked about these various and he kept his job.
Like we're talking about high end problems from a guy who also not qualified to be there in that job.
I'm sorry, you were in the military.
My dad was in the military.
He cannot be the secretary of defense, but
Everything she has done has been done by other people, and yet she's losing her job.
I have to imagine it's the scapegoat.
It's a matter of them saying, well, we'll get rid of her.
It's fine.
Go ahead.
And we'll keep doing what we're doing.
But I think this might be the beginning of the end for other folks.
I don't know what you think, Pete.
Well, I don't know.
I don't know if this is like a scapegoat.
And now we let someone go.
Now we can just go back to the business as usual.
Um, yeah, I was, I was shocked too, but we'll see, uh, what she, Trump has other plans for apparently moving her to be a special envoy for the shield of the Americas.
Um, we'll see if that happens.
But this, uh, Mark Wayne Mullen, former MMA fighter, Greg, undefeated.
So don't even, he can take you.
He could take me and Dom.
He could probably take all three of us.
I mean, he's, he's made threats during a testimonies too.
He likes to fight the man believes in fighting default to solve problems.
He likes to fight.
And he threatened a union guy on the floor of the Senate.
And I thought, well, what is it?
And he went in like saying there needs to be decorum.
And MMA, when you hit a guy in the back of the head, you can still hate him, but you shake his hand at the end of the fight.
And the Senate has none of that.
We backstab all the time.
And then he threatens to fight a guy on the floor.
And I'm like, what are you going to do?
Are you going to go fight every illegal alien?
What is your plan?
Well, no, I mean, when it comes to undocumented, he's just going to tell them, uh, arrest them at all costs and just keep, keep doing what you're doing.
Just try to be nicer about it.
I don't know.
But like Mark Wayne Mullen is a college dropout, not a person who doesn't have a background in this kind of work.
He is not, again, not qualified, but here we are.
Mark Wayne, one word, one name, Mark Wayne Mullen as, as the, as the proposed, as I guess, probably the acting.
DHS secretary, we'll see if they even put him up for confirmation.
Cause this is what Trump did in his first term is he fired a bunch of people and made everyone acting so that way he can fire and hire as he sees fit and doesn't have to get confirmation from the Senate.
We'll see what's going on there.
But yeah, it's, you know,
yeah.
And, you know, we should, we should, uh, Dom Wayne Lee, what do you think about that?
It'll be interesting to see what happens.
But that was weird.
Threatening to fight a guy.
I'm just like, come on.
There's no place for that.
And Bernie Sanders on the video we had was telling him to sit down.
He said sit down, both of you.
It was one adult in the room.
I will take away your desserts.
No one will get dessert.
I believe in some socialist tendencies here.
Democratic socialism.
But no dessert from anyone.
If you don't sit down and finish the conversation like adults.
That's my Bernie Sanders.
I don't even know if it's offensive or not.
I have no idea.
How would it be offensive?
I don't
know.
I have no idea.
We've got two more big things to discuss.
Yes,
we do.
After a very short break, we're going to read text tonight.
We're talking overrated bands.
We've got the popcorn pick of the week.
There's so much going on here.
I can't stand it.
This is Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach on Nightlight on the Civic Media Network.
My dudes.
Welcome back.
This is Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach on the Civic Media Network.
Great to have you here with us on this Thursday night.
Greg, I used to call Thursday nights the Christmas Eve of weeknights because it's a glorious weekday, right?
I used to call it Friday Eve and there
was that
thing of like...
I feel like you feel more as an adult than as a young person, but like when I get home from work tonight, be like, oh, it's basically the weekend.
It feels like,
you know,
it's, it feels nice.
I love it.
I love Thursday nights.
It makes me feel so good.
But also I will say this, I have a job here at Civic Media that I truly adore that makes me not feel those Sunday blues that you get around say three or four in the afternoon.
You're like, oh, work tomorrow.
I don't do that anymore.
It feels really nice.
I'm totally with you.
Very well said.
So we've got a couple more things we've got to get to here.
Two more stories.
If you please.
Big story.
We don't know what number it is.
It's just a big story.
We're going to roll with it.
This one coming out of Muskego.
This has been going on for over a year now.
And the story was actually published a little
less than a month ago, but I thought it was very much interesting to talk about, which is a mosquito post office chalk case.
I don't know if you guys have heard about this, but a gentleman named Jim Brown, Brown low was arrested last year for what was going to be criminal damage to property.
And essentially what happened was is he wrote something on the sidewalk in chalk outside of a post office where
You know it said it said remember January 6 every November November, you know availing himself.
I believe of the First Amendment free speech well Over this past year.
It's been gone.
It's gone from him being arrested for criminal damage to the charges being dropped then recharged with disorderly conduct to this past week or last past month saying finally
No, he is, he is free to go.
He is not, he is not guilty of any of those crimes.
And he represented himself.
And I know it sounds like a little story, but to me, a man being arrested, charged, recharged with a different crime for writing in chalk outside of a U S post office, to me is a very scary thing because I in no way shape or form saw the damage harm.
or how they try to make it seem like inciting possible violence through people seeing this terrible message in chalk.
But he is,
he is, he charges, he was found not guilty.
He's good to go.
Jim Brownlow, Brownlow of Muskego still able to exercise his free speech
here in America.
Middle school librarian wrote in chalk and this is, these were like the charges.
And this is a quote from what the what they charge him with engage in violent abusive indies and profane boisterous unreasonably loud conduct or an other disorderly conduct under circumstances in which the conduct tends to cause or provoke disturbance So here's the thing he wrote in chalk on the sidewalk like Greg just said if you are if you don't if you support the fact that January 6 people were pardoned And that they were just tourists and there was nothing terrible to happen.
Why does this bother you?
Yeah, you know, when people say something that I disagree with, I'm like, yeah, have at it, whatever.
But what he's saying, if January 6 was not a crime, and you support the pardons, you should be okay saying remember January 6.
What's the harm?
What's the conflict there?
Remember that great day?
We took a field trip to the Capitol.
Oh, man, it was so much fun.
Yeah, they're not saying I disagree with you.
They're saying, hey, take that off.
Well, okay.
I also think that if this would have happened, say this year, nothing would have happened.
I feel like that, you know, when he was, when he was charged early last year, there was a lot of bad, I mean, still bad vibes, but I just feel like they were really trying to nail people for speaking out.
And again, all he wrote was remember January 6th, every November, no swears, no cuss words, no.
Dirty pictures he drew.
It was those words.
It was one, two, three, four, five words.
And it was a year of his life in the courts because he was simply speaking his mind as protected by the First Amendment.
But I think more people should know about this because it's the possibility matter for me.
If they can do this to him, who else can they do it to?
That's why I wanted to bring it up.
Yep.
Well said.
And looking at colorful chalk on the sidewalk has never made me want to beat someone up.
Well, don't write anything.
How does that feel?
How's Mark Wayne Mullin feel about Chalk?
I mean, that's what, you know.
I'm not fighting Mark Wayne Mullin.
Neither am I. You'll win.
All right.
All right.
In the time we have left, let's get the last story, please, Dom.
The third big story.
Pete, the people have spoken and what is a chain restaurant doing for them?
Well, the people have spoken because
Chick-fil-A changed the formula of their waffle fries.
Yes.
And Chick-fil-A is wonderful and their waffle fries are delicious, but they started putting pea starch in the waffle fries.
P-E-A, the
vegetable.
Yes, we have to clarify.
Yes.
And then I guess it made the fries too crispy or something and people went nuts like people do over little things.
Wait a minute, who's complaining about crispy fries?
Is that the world we live in now?
We're complaining about crispy fries?
People that like soggy fries.
I don't know.
I mean, it doesn't make sense to me though.
Like I, first of all, if you can notice the difference, if something's egregious and very different and you can tell, I get it.
But this is like of all the things to be upset about, you know,
they announced that they, it was a slight adjustment to make the fries quote, stay crispy or longer.
That feels like you're doing something for me.
Correct.
It, you know, it, but.
People are an influencer and fashion entrepreneur, express disappointment over the change.
I don't know.
Are there fries going woke?
I have no clue.
Why is this a bad
thing?
The only thing I could think of, and this wasn't mentioned any of the posts I saw that it's an ingredient or it's a preservative.
And if you don't want preservatives, okay, I get that.
I don't know if it's good for your bed for you.
It's pee.
Peas are good for you.
Peas are great.
You could go either way on that one, but I don't know.
But I think this is, you know,
I have nothing to compare it to.
I don't eat a Chick-fil-A enough.
It says, I love soggy fries.
Please, we are begging you, someone wrote.
That's what we're, okay.
All right.
That's what we're worrying about in this world nowadays.
Cool.
I don't have the
palate enough to tell you when a place changes their fried ingredients.
Maybe we'll try it live on air.
How about that?
Maybe we do something grand.
Dom Wainley, ladies and gentlemen, called the day long.
Different middle name.
We are coming right back to talk gas prices and gas buddy.
with Patrick DeHaan.
This is Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach on Nightlight on the Civic Media Network.
Welcome back to Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
My name is Greg Bach.
And Pete is currently indisposed.
But I'm here with you right now with Dom Lee in Madison.
We are here on the Civic Media Network.
You can give a call or text 855-752-4842-855-755.
Civic, leave a comment.
on the live stream.
We are currently streaming on Facebook, YouTube, and the platform we still call Twitter.
Still ahead in the second hour, we're going to be talking to Civic Media's very own Stuart J. Waddles.
He's our Southeastern news reporter.
Always getting the great news here for us folks here and down where I'm at.
I'm in Radio Park here in Racine, but he'll be coming on in the second hour, giving us popcorn picks as well as probably talking about bands that he may think are overrated because that is the question of the night.
What rock star or band is seriously overrated?
You can drop a comment on the live.
stream, you can put, uh, you can text us either through your phone or through the civic media app.
We are here for you.
Are we here for the people, Pete?
We are here for the people.
I am here for the people now.
I got my, uh, yeah, I'm here for the people.
And we got, uh, we, we have a, uh, we have an offer from our pal, Mike Clemens to jump on for a few minutes and talk about Bob Harlan.
If we want to do that.
So maybe you can do that at some point.
Is he on right now?
He can be.
Would you
like him to be sure?
Yeah.
Tell him to tell him to give us a call.
Write this very, very moment.
All right.
We will talk about because we were going to talk about that just the, just the three of us, but Mike Clemens is our sports reporter here at civic media talking about the announcement from green, from the Green Bay Packers and the Harlan family that former Green Bay Packer president and CEO Bob Harlan has passed away today following a brief illness.
He was 89 years old and Bob Harlan.
I mean, we'll get more from Mike in a moment, but he was a legend.
He was a.
God figure in Green Bay Sports.
I just texted you his number down.
Why don't you give him a call and we'll, uh, it's a landline and we'll bring Mike on.
Um, yeah, he was, uh, you know, like the, uh, they won a Super Bowl or two under
him.
They won two Super Bowls under him.
Yeah.
If I'm not mistaken, I know, I know stuff about sports.
Uh, he, he took the reins in 1999 and he retired in 2008.
So he had one because they won that second Super Bowl or that.
second Super Bowl in my lifetime
back
in 2010 or 11.
And that was the third time I'd seen them go to the Super Bowl because I remember I grew up in the 80s.
Those were dark,
dark days.
He, he's the one I want to say, Greg is responsible for finding Brett farm as well and bringing him up here from the, uh,
okay.
Well, for giving, I guess, um,
I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
All right.
Do we have Mr. Mike Clemens on the phone right now?
All right.
Joining us right
now is Civic Media's very own sports reporter all over the globe, Mr. Mike Clemens.
Good evening, Mike.
How are you today?
Hi, Greg.
Pete said to hear the passing of Bob.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, thanks for reaching out, Mike.
This was great.
And it's great to have a guy on the show here who really knew about Bob Harlan and his legacy.
What can you tell us about him?
We were just talking about how he brought Brett Farr of to Green Bay, I believe.
Is that correct?
He brought a lot to Green Bay.
Bob was from the Wauwatosa area in Milwaukee, and he started out at Marquette working in the PR department, and then he went to the St.
Louis Cardinals in the 1960s working in PR.
The last time I saw Bob, he came to a training camp practice, and we had this wonderful conversation.
About those Cardinals teams which you grew was on there for a couple of years remember that but in 1967 I said what was Bob Gibson Mike Bob Gibson was his great fastball pitcher of the 66 67 Cardinals right and a Hall of Famer and all that but just this you know mean national six or seven then and I had his baseball card, but he's kind of legend he goes
He was an ordinary dude.
He was not a nice man.
And you know, I had to figure out a way to go between him and the manager to say, you know, he's such a star force, but he's got to lighten up because when he went on the mound, he was an angry guy.
Bob Hart, that's the kind of guy that Bob was.
I mean, he got it.
And eventually he became a part of the Packers staff.
And then when the Packers realized they needed to do less of this committee and have a stronger president, he took over as president of the Packers.
Well, he makes this brilliant move to bring in Ron Wolf as a general manager who moves on from Lindy and Fonte, hires Holmgren, and says, I've got this quarterback down in Atlanta that's currently riding in the bench of the Falcons.
We need to bring him in.
So the Favre and the Holmgren and Reggie White era comes in in the 90s, and they rebuild the respect of the team and make them a winning team and win that Super Bowl.
And then, you know, he makes the tough decision to move on from Mike Sherman years later and hired Ted Thompson.
And they get that second Super Bowl when they're Mike McCarthy and the move for Aaron Rodgers and to move on from Farb and all those kinds of things.
The other thing that he did was so important was he realized sitting down with all the other owners that if Green Bay's not careful, they're going to fall way behind.
So he had to go to the state and ask, you know, for the state to help out.
in terms of stadium expansion about two thousand two two thousand three or so for
and
frankly that little media office I've got in the stadium you give credit to Bob Harlan because he took care of us in the media and he was also famous for when you called the front door desk at the Green Bay Packers and said Bob Harlan they'd say one moment and they pick up the phone Bob Harlan it went straight to him wow tremendous guy that way
I'm sure we're going to be hearing even more about him over the next few days.
I mean, it's a huge loss to the Packard organization, the Packard family, and from what it seems the family is stunned by too, is a brief illness.
But you are listening to Mike Clemens, who is Civic Media Sports reporter, talking about the passing of Bob Harlan, former president and CEO of the organization.
I mean, I'm sure you have story after story, Mike.
Yeah, you know, and let's not forget too, his son is Kevin Harlan.
Kevin is one of
and do the best, but at the same time, keep the doors open to the fans.
Thank you so much, Mike for calling.
We really appreciate you checking in with us, giving us a brief overview.
Like I said, more talk about Bob Harlan throughout the days.
That was Mike Clemens, Civic Media Sports reporter here.
Don't go anywhere.
When we come back, we'll be talking about the question of the day.
We'll also be talking about popcorn picks with Stuart J. Waddles.
Don't go anywhere.
You were listening on the Civic Media Network.
Stay tuned and stay close.
Trying to make sense of the world.
You've got Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Call our toll-free number now.
Headlines, culture, and real conversation.
And
now, our feature presentation.
Here's Pete and Greg.
Good evening, everyone.
Welcome back to Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
My name is Greg Bach.
Across the table from me is Mr. Pete Schwabba.
We are here coming to you live on the Civic Media Network in places all over the state.
We hope you're having a great night.
Thank you so much for being here.
If you want to be part of the conversation, 855-752-4842.
855-755 Civic, leave a comment on that live stream.
We are currently on Facebook, YouTube, and the platform.
We still call Twitter, still ahead.
Civic Media's very own Mr. Stuart J. Waddles gives us
Probably his thoughts on our question of the night, but also gives us his popcorn picks.
And then we close out the entire show with a handy tip from Pete and Greg.
So don't go anywhere.
We're having a good time right now.
Pete, how are you doing?
I'm doing okay.
Uh,
technical gaffes aside.
I think I'm, I think we're rocking and rolling.
It was a fun first hour talking
to
Greg.
And if you missed the first hour, folks, you can check that out in podcast form at civic media.us and, uh,
What do you say?
Should we reintroduce?
Before we read some texts, I think we should reintroduce our question of the night.
Let's talk about
the question.
Okay, question.
Question.
Question.
Pregunta.
Question.
Question.
Okay, I have a question.
Questions.
This question.
Domanda.
Question.
Question.
Questions.
What band is the most overrated in your opinion, folks?
What do you think?
Yeah.
Or Rockstar.
Rockstar or band that is seriously overrated.
You can let us know on the text line at eight five five seven five two four eight four two eight five five seven five civic You can also drop us a comment on the app text us over the app or if you're watching the radio on YouTube Facebook or Twitter you can drop us a stream comment Let's start with this dream Greg because Dave.
Yeah says the doors I mean, this is all subjective.
There's no right or wrong answers, but
Half of these I'm reading.
I'm like, Oh, I love them.
That's
what you're going to get
with a question like this, right?
I can see the I can see why someone might feel the doors are overrated.
I feel like, you know, the timeframe, I grew up in the 80s and the 90s.
And I feel like there was a great deal of of kudos flowers to the doors.
And granted, they're a good band.
They made some good music.
But I don't think they're as great as everyone says they're I'll definitely there are songs I'll listen to like peace frog I'll always listen to peace frog, but it's just not a band where I'm like, you do you understand the doors man?
No, I don't it's fine.
It's fine.
Yeah, I mean, I don't they're not in my top five bands.
I love LA woman I love some of their songs, but I get that Dave Sidney politics as kings of Leon interesting and you too I disagree about you do
not accept that as an answer.
I think that's wrong
I disagree with that.
I think U2 is a fantastic band.
I do too.
And here's the thing about U2.
They have the same four
dudes have
been together
since the late seven since they were like 15 that I don't think that happens.
That's
there's not a lot of bands that still do that.
I mean, I'm trying to think right now of bands that still have all like all of their original members.
I'm sure they're out there and they're just escaping me right now.
But yeah, yeah, you two still, I know that they tour with a different drummer, but Adam are low.
Larry Mullin Jr.
still plays in the studio, but I think he's like kind of done with touring, but who knows?
I mean, it's still those four guys though, and the band is like going on 50 years old.
So it's, I don't know.
I've seen them.
It's an amazing show.
I love their music.
I didn't care when their album showed up on my iPhone.
I let that go.
People still talk about it to this day.
But whatevs.
3-2.
It's still my favorite Super Bowl halftime show right after 9-11 with
all
the theater they put into that.
And streets have no name, which is why I love it.
But you know what?
It's fun.
It's a fun discussion.
Daniel Berry Sports Highlights on the stream says, Happy Thursday.
What's up, everyone?
Hello, you tell us Daniel.
Good to have you, buddy.
Good to have you.
Brett in brown deer.
Welcome back, buddy.
Good to have you back on the show.
He says listening on WA UK journey worst band ever.
Wow.
Go to a bar around 11 o'clock on a Saturday night and scream that out loud.
See what happens next.
Ooh, baby.
I don't, I'm not a journey fan.
I
I will say this right now.
At my wedding, I told the DJ no journey is allowed and people were upset.
I'm like, deal with it.
I'm paying for it.
You're not.
I like journey.
I like their hits that I like who's now I don't like like some of the and I mean don't stop believing is a great song But it is probably the most overplayed song like when I first heard it loved it learned how to play down the guitar But now it's everywhere new generations have adopted it is their anthem.
It's a little overplayed.
So it's hard to
disagree with that, with that text as well.
Also, I want to thank Greg and Waukesha who texted in earlier telling us informing us breaking the story, if you will, about
Bob
Harlan.
So that was, that was great.
Greg also goes out a couple of things with Greg.
Greg texted in a few times in the beginning of the show.
First of all, I love you to death.
Greg, I was never in the band, sweetheart, tripwire.
That was not a group I was in back in the day.
And he also went on to say there was one other thing too here.
He put on, uh, Oh, did
Can you erase text messages?
I don't, I thought.
Oh, here it is.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Here it is.
So we also went on to say, uh, overrated band artist, at least in Wisconsin, Pat McCurdy.
He goes on to say, McCurdy came to my Catholic music camp back in the day, wasn't impressed with him then, not impressed with him now.
And Greg, I know I was at that Catholic music camp back in the day.
I remember that show.
I played bass for him on stage.
Yeah.
It was, they needed a bass player.
I could play three notes.
It's fine.
But.
I mean, he
was at that show where you played with Pat McCurdy and that just all came
together on this where Greg and I met.
I've known Greg for about 30 years now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We, we, yeah, we came up.
So yeah, thank you so much for getting in touch with us.
Also really quick.
Uh, I just wanted to group these together because who knew?
Uh, Christian Eau Claire and who was the other person?
Uh, Nick in Marshall said kid rock is the most overrated rock star.
I don't disagree with that.
I don't like, I just, I don't even know if he's overrated.
I just don't like his mute.
I don't like him personally, but that's really not what it's about.
There's a lot of rock and roll stars that I probably wouldn't like personally, but I don't know that kid rocks overrated because he hasn't, he has hits in his own little stratosphere.
I
don't know.
I mean,
I mean, that's, it's, it's, um,
His music is boring in my opinion.
His music to me is always a guy trying to be the coolest guy at the bar and you're like, yes, we get it, Bob.
You get it, Bob.
Yes, you can play guitar.
And he samples all the time and he got sued for doing it.
Yeah, I mean, but then the rap game, the rap game dried up on him and became a rock star.
That's what they do when, you know, ask Machine Gun Kelly.
Who else?
Let's see here.
Monica
Mount Horror.
So it says PSY that did.
Gangnam style I forgot about that song.
Oh, yeah, sigh.
Yeah, I mean That's okay.
Yeah, I that song was fun I listened to it as many times as I needed to and then I was done with it But yeah, I can understand that That song can be very very kind of a
one-hit wonder too though, right?
Oh, absolutely, but
Still to this day playing stadiums and they love him.
So do your thing, baby.
Anna in Madison listening in says, I think Gene Simmons and his band kiss are overrated musicians.
I completely agree.
I think kisses an overrated band.
I said on the, the, the text, not the text line, but the post that you made, I said that I think that the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, and here was the T's Elvis overrated.
Wow, and I'm going for the big hitters like I'm going for the Titans of music and rock and roll and I'm like, no, I don't really enjoy any of them.
So Sure, that is
well, that's a gutsy.
Look, I love a controversial take when it's we're talking about stuff.
This isn't really that important.
That's the fun of the whole thing, right?
So yeah, I can live with that.
I said I said, I don't even remember who I said we've got Let's get to the social media.
Oh, I said Banjovi and
my
Jovi
I think Bon Jovi is just, you know, a couple tunes you tap your toes to, but I just never, I
just
think it's fine.
But sometimes people mention them in the same breath with Springsteen.
I'm like, what are you on?
Like, come on.
I think it's the New Jersey thing, you know?
Yeah, probably.
But when I watched their documentary, that it was like a four part documentary basically centered around John Bon Jovi and his voice trying to be saved.
And I didn't realize how many
multi-platinum albums they put out.
Like
usually
it's like, you know, they put out an album, then they put out another album and then people are like, ooh, they're really good.
Then they put out the album that defines their career.
And then it sort of slides down from there.
They put out like five albums in a row that sold huge.
And I mean, I don't know.
I personally feel like, I don't know if I'm in the same place as you, Pete.
They're fine.
There are songs in there.
They're good.
I enjoy, but I'll never turn off Wanted Dead or Alive.
That'll be a tune I always listen to.
I like
that first guitar.
Look, I'm not saying I hate them or anything.
I just feel like I just don't need to keep hearing about them.
Like, like I feel like Springsteen, just to compare them again, has been putting out new music his whole career.
And he's five years younger than my dad.
And he's still doing three hour shows in Bon Jovi.
I feel like they're kind of riding on the whatever.
It's a good argument.
But I don't totally disagree with you.
John from Madison in the 608 says Dolly Parton.
Okay.
Whoa.
What?
I don't understand.
Okay.
That's just, that's, uh,
that's more controversial than Elvis because who
doesn't love Dolly Parton?
I
don't understand that one at all.
Tom
Appleton says Van Halen is overrated.
I, I can understand that point too, man.
I can totally understand that point.
You know,
I think it's when we over intellectualize certain bands.
That's when it becomes a thing of like, look, they're great.
They're a group or it's, you know, the Beatles.
Yes, they did a lot of great things, but I understand if someone says it's four dudes from Liverpool and it's a pop outfit.
I understand that criticism, but Dolly Parton dude, come on, man.
Daniel listening in on a WMDX and a Manasha says, a grateful dead, boring 20 minute noodling around songs, bored.
I understand that point too, but I love that too.
I love, I love jam bands that know how to jam correctly versus a band that's like, Oh, it's one, a guitar player and three to four other people who are just like supporting them.
But
we talked about that, Greg.
And
I, we kind of, I don't think we totally disagree, but I, to me a lengthy.
guitar solo can ruin a good song it's like I get it you know how to play the guitar that sounded good for about a minute can we get back to the lyrics and the melody now you know
I I think it's how you interweave the jamming it that's how if it's if it's a 30 minute guitar solo then yes I understand it but if you if it's guitar bass and drums and everyone's doing their thing and they're having fun then it's more entertaining I get that but
30 minutes, you need a beating.
Tom from Hartford says, Bob Dylan, I don't disagree with that.
Greg, what do you say about that?
I agree.
I like Bob Dylan's Nashville stuff, but I don't really like, I don't, I don't worship at the altar of Bob Dylan.
Yeah.
Our pal Chris Casper says, I really love like 12 of their songs.
They ain't no Beatles.
Did I miss it?
What are we talking about here?
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know if I saw something.
We missed
another text from you, Chris, but we'll find it.
Then we got Daniel from Manash.
Oh, you read that.
I'm sorry.
Are we caught up?
Oh, we got a couple of Facebook ones.
Let's see if we can get to these before the... I said Michael Bolton too.
I
don't know why you think he's overrated like it's not like he's I mean that to me he's not big enough to be overrated I think he's beloved by people but he's not like Topping the charts and no one's saying like Michael Bolton is my inspiration He is the reason why music is the way it is.
I think I think you just don't like Michael Bolton I think people do say that
though, and I
don't you're right,
but you're right
He might
not be overrated because he shouldn't even be rated Wow He
just outs
no he does
He shouts Michael Bolton shouts Just saying dude, you know, I don't know I just this is this sounds like old man shaking your fist at the wind man was like
where my garbage cans I didn't like him when I was in college.
Yeah, understood Sheila Rosenberg Seidel says kiss.
Okay another one for kiss and then hers might be your sister Sarah Jean says
Take that back.
Okay.
Uh, this is nightlight with each Schwabba and Greg Bach.
There are fighting words on the text line and on social media.
We're coming right back with our pal and civic media colleague, Mr. Stuart waddles, who's going to talk music and make the popcorn pick of the week.
It's the civic media radio
network.
Welcome
back.
This is Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Michael McDonnell.
I mean Greg Bach.
We're having fun.
We're talking music tonight.
We're talking overrated pop stars, artists, bands.
Dom Lee's working the board.
What could be better?
I'll tell you what could be better, Greg Bach.
Oh, baby.
We are making the popcorn pick of the week tonight in just about 10 minutes.
And joining us to make that pick is a guy who rolled in a little early so we could continue our fun talk about overrated bands.
He covers news for Civic Media in southeast Wisconsin and does a bang up job.
Mr. Stewart, Jay Waddles.
Hello, fellas.
First
time with Greg.
I'm
glad
you're here.
This
is Greg.
It's wonderful.
I'm, I'm happy to be here.
I'm very excited.
I am really, if folks, this is one of those situations where you need to check out the live stream because Stuart is bringing the nighttime vibes of, let's talk about music and let's
talk about movies.
The quiet Stuart here on civic media.
Oh, it's good to have you buddy.
We, um,
You know, it's, uh, we're excited to get your pick after the news.
But right now, do you have a band or a pop star or someone you think is overrated?
I
do, but I think it might help to start with who is rated.
You brought this up before.
How can
you be overrated if you're not really rated to begin with?
And I thought
a kiss immediately.
But I mean, so let's go back to the rock and roll hall of fame past five years.
Bad company.
Already rated overrated not rated enough.
I think they're not rated enough honestly because bad company not getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a big deal for a long time Cindy
Loper where do you stand on Ms.
Loper?
Lover love love a few of her tunes, but I can't say I own her whole library Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame.
I mean She wrote some a couple iconic tunes time after time girls just want to have fun.
Those
are very that song
or performed it
Yeah,
to cover it's
a cover.
I got a who
say
WWE Hall of Fame.
She was part of like the first WrestleMania.
Wasn't she?
Yeah.
First or second.
I can't remember exactly when
score.
It was kind of on MTV leading up to WrestleMania.
I think to get that going.
Okay.
A couple more here to see if they're rated overrated sound garden.
No, I don't think they're
overrated.
I think they're great.
Yeah, me too.
I'm with you.
Oh, Foo Fighters
love them
love them.
No, they're I think they're I think they are no worthy of being in the rock and all they're not overrated All
right, so some of mine and Pete I've been listening you're not gonna like this Springsteen Give
me
Johnny Krueger all day long buddy.
Oh my
god.
Give me John
Krueger melon camp all
day
with Springsteen on the shelf.
Oh
You know, is it too late to find a guest for the popcorn pick of the week in a few minutes?
Nope.
They're locked in.
This is a contractual obligation.
If we don't do this, we get sued by
vague popcorn.
How is he
overrated?
I
mean, I don't dig
too
deep.
I hear too much about it.
And there's so
much Springsteen.
He's
the greatest American songwriter there is.
Okay.
Okay.
Let me stop.
Okay.
Exactly.
You can't say how is Bob, how is.
Bruce Springsteen overrated when we just got done saying Bob Dylan is overrated I feel like subjective I understand it's a matter for me that people like worship at the altar of some of these artists where you as a person can't not like them or not be into them like like I've had people yell at me saying how do you not like them like it's easy I'm doing it right now but like I understand if someone sees
Bruce Springsteen is overrated.
I get that completely.
Where's the chink in the armor with Springsteen?
That's my like, I can say that about Dylan because I don't believe that about Dylan.
I do believe that about Springsteen.
And when you, whether it's pop hits and anthems or reflective, you know, Nebraska or Devils and Dust, I mean, there is no weak link there.
There's one song America knows about Bruce Springsteen.
One of them.
Maybe two.
What?
Maybe two.
What's that?
Well born in the USA and then the
Dancing in the dark Badlands
Like you said Bob Dylan He's he's an acquired taste like like Willie Nelson.
He's he's bad But like he's good like there's something there with Springsteen.
I don't even get that that bad is there to like
I got nothing with Springsteen.
Like, again, give me Johnny Cougar all day long.
Hey, you tell me you don't like Springsteen.
I get it.
Overrated is where I have an issue.
And Cougar, to me, is like a poor man's Springsteen.
And I like Cougar.
I know.
I know.
I know.
I know Springsteen fans.
And I know things like comments about Johnny Cougar probably sent over.
Maroon 5, overrated.
Oh, yeah.
So overrated.
How did
that guy
get anywhere?
Their first album is amazing.
After that, it's just junk.
Don't get me wrong.
I love female MCs, but I don't get.
Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, give me like Queen Latifah, MC Light.
Oh, MC Light.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What about
Salt
and Peppa?
Salt and Peppa, but with Spinderella.
She's not with them anymore.
And I feel like that's a crime.
There's no, you can't have Salt and Peppa without Spinderella.
No, she's been to relish.
She's the DJ.
So there's salt.
There's pepper.
And then spend a relish in the middle doing the DJ work, but she's not with the group anymore, which is like, what am I doing
here?
This is what happens when you ask a newsman on the show.
He does a deep dive.
He does journalism and investigative reporting.
He's wrong about Springsteen, but I appreciate the effort here, Stuart.
This is impressive.
Billy Eilish.
I think she's
fantastic.
I like her name one song.
What?
Name a song.
The one with the guy with the thing?
Uh, uh, bad guy, bad boy, bad guy.
I don't know.
I don't need another.
I don't need to, like, I don't need to know her.
Why do I have- I hear her name
far
too often.
Why do I have to know her songs to like her or like what she's about?
And to be
overrated.
I guess I get, maybe I'm conflating overrated and being overexposed.
Because
I think,
again,
you're
trying to get to that second song and what is it?
There isn't.
There's one of them.
I don't know.
I don't think that's I don't think that's a I don't think that's a justification for calling someone overrated though I think you just don't like them.
Well, it's it's I think it's more of Again exposure has a lot to do with it and to me if you're being exposed There's people that think a lot about you.
They love you.
Yeah, they're rating you and I think that there is an over liking of this artist
Wow, this is like
with you on kiss where they ever really rated
Okay, we'll get back to that in a moment.
We're going to continue this conversation with George Iwato, Civic Me's very own reporter of Southeastern Wisconsin here talking music, giving us the popcorn picks of the week here on Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Don't go anywhere.
You're listening to us on the Civic Media Network.
Stay tuned.
Stay informed.
Stay close.
It's time for the Nightlight Popcorn Pick of the Week, where we recommend a movie that you'll either enjoy or won't.
Here's your host, Pete Schwabba.
Hey,
and Greg Bach, too.
Right as I was playing, I'm like, wait a minute, they're still using this, and then I forgot we'd
welcome back
to Nightlight.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am Pete Schwabba, and Greg Bach is sitting across the state from me, really, but it doesn't look
like it's... I like
that.
sitting is in
Madison and Stuart J. Wattles joins us tonight from Racine.
He covers news for civic media for WRJN and does an outstanding job despite his music tastes.
Hmm.
I love when you said that and you went, you went.
Stuart is here to make the popcorn pick of the week.
So let's,
uh, let's
show this is about an
actual movie and not popcorn.
I had a test tasted a bunch of overall, overall red and blacker this week in preparation.
I
had some sriracha popcorn.
It was delicious.
I thought you were a fan of the show and listen.
Oh, sorry.
I got that one.
I'm not going to move for you.
We will make a movie pick.
But Greg and I want to ask you a few questions about your movie watching tendencies.
How do you like to watch movies?
Are you a theater guy, a home guy?
What do you mostly asleep these
days?
I got three young kids.
So anything I'm watching, I got time for is a kid related.
So that's kind of different than, you know, when
I was younger.
Well, then when was the last time you went to a theater to see a movie then?
Oh, probably frozen too.
There
was
five years ago, six years ago.
Follow up.
When's the last time you went to a movie theater to see a movie that you wanted to see that you were taking kids?
I don't know that I wanted to see it.
It was playing.
It was the
Bruce Springsteen.
The Will Smith aliens.
Oh,
yeah,
that movie
independence day or
well Smith movie
Men in black.
There you go.
One of the sequels.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was
a
long time
ago.
Yeah.
That was a very long time.
Oh, my
goodness.
The comfy seats and who can stay awake through all that?
Well, well, I guess this this next this next question would be moot because you haven't gone to them since but would you order food in the theater like get a dinner and whatnot or are you that type person?
Okay.
No, that's it.
No, that's no, no, no.
Popcorn is all right.
You know, give me some some goobers if they got them.
Do they
do they have
goobers anymore?
I wish we I was just saying this earlier on the show.
I get goobers at the dollar store and bring them into the theater, which is so weird because the theater used to be the only place you could get them.
Right.
Raisinets, though, you can count on the raisinets to be there.
They're still there.
And so what is your favorite snack?
Is it popcorn or is it one of the your candy choices your slurpee?
The doctor told me I shouldn't eat the popcorn That's a funny line you guys didn't you guys didn't sell that at all You know the rolo's are good the caramels
I
like Caramel inside the end the chocolate's good.
Yeah, is it?
No, I go back both ways.
It's whatever you want.
Yeah, whatever you want.
Caramel.
Cause normally that like draws ire from people.
So I'll throw it out there.
This guy say caramel.
Yeah.
Oh, Stuart, I guess you're not of the people anymore.
Maybe for caramel.
How's your Rolls Royce doing?
Yeah.
Damn.
It's, it's whatever.
It's however it, you know, flows, I would say.
Uh, so excuse me here.
In the younger days, when you did see movies, did you ever movie hop in your life?
Oh, yeah.
They would drop
us
off at the movie theater when I was 11, 12, 13 years old.
And we would hop movies, go over and play at the pick and save next door.
Yeah, we would hop movies.
That's the greatest feeling.
It's a victimless crime, really.
I mean, I guess the art, you could say if you're not paying, it's the writer, the director, they're not getting there, but you're not going anyway.
You're either going to sneak in or you're going home because you can't afford two movies when you're a kid anyway.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I would say, I would say unless the director actor has a deal, they already got their money.
Right.
They already got their check.
They're good.
If I tell Tom Hanks, I saw, you know, whatever movie splashed for free when I was a kid, he probably like, that's fine.
Yeah.
Stuart where do you like where do you sit with like when you watch a movie at home and you and I have discussed bluey before you introduced me to that kid show and I don't have kids at home anymore and it made me sad that's how good the show is but what do you what do you do at home do you have a different snack preference at home
typically it's a movie night on Friday so we get get some pizza pizza pie from a local eatery and somebody gets a pick either the oldest the youngest sometimes mom and dad gets to pick
So that's when we introduce kind of the older stuff or stuff that they wouldn't pick that I think that they would like.
So that's kind of spread it out.
If you don't mind me asking, how old are the kids?
10,
8, and 4.
OK.
So when mom and dad get to pick, there are still guidelines on what you are going to watch.
Is there a movie that you as a movie fan can't wait to show at least let's just say you're oldest at first But like there's a movie that you're like like I watched this when I was a kid I shouldn't have but I can't wait to show them.
Is there a movie for you?
That's like that.
We're like, hey, don't tell your mom or just don't tell anyone we're gonna watch a Caddy Shack just puk picking that one out of the blue
You know, that's that's probably it.
Yeah,
at least my boy would love that.
It's just a nice silly movie that he would
love.
Um, but yeah, we
We dropped back to the future on him last week.
So that was a, we
haven't done that.
They've seen bits and pieces of it, but it's all sitting right there in front of them now.
And why is he sitting with his mom?
And there's some weird questions that come up.
I
saw one of the, like the, uh, one of the early sand people and she did not like that at all.
We haven't gone
back to that yet.
Kids, come on in.
We're firing up porkies.
Come on in.
I was one of my favorites when I was young.
Oh, great.
Great.
Here's, it's funny.
You mentioned Caddyshack because I remember my kids, we were just kind of lounging on the couch one day, you know, and it was on in the afternoon.
And it's the scene where they're, it's the gopher and the gopher's dancing.
I'm like, oh, the kids will like this.
My kids were like, I don't know, seven and three or something like that.
And it's a hard cut.
to a naked girl in the pool on some guy's shoulders, and I almost tear an ACL looking for the remote and I can't find it.
And I'm like, what am I doing?
They're just like, oh,
yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But they didn't care.
It was like boobs.
And it's like, OK, they're kids.
They wouldn't be, you know, it was like a graphic sex scene or something.
That's pretty helpless.
Now, Blues Brothers, I've showed parts of that to them.
I think that would be
an
important movie
for them to
see.
Just because part of it was shot in Milwaukee or?
Uh, that, the music part of it, these legends, Ray and Aretha Franklin and
Great movie.
Um, all right.
So I think we should probably do folks.
Stuart Wattles is here.
He's going to make the popcorn pick and just, uh, mo, we are moments away.
He covers news for, uh, Southeast Wisconsin here at Civic Media, uh, at WRJN and in Green Bay.
And it's, uh, it's always fun to hear your voice up here in the north, uh, northeast of Stuart.
I like that arrangement.
Yeah, great to be here.
That was a moment.
It's great to have you.
I love that.
You said something, and there was just nothing.
I'm like, waiting for that.
Just great.
That might have
been the biggest awkward silence in the history of nightlight.
And I'm
glad.
And on the
promo.
That's
a promo right
there.
Is there a WBA award for best silence?
I don't know.
I mean, it should be.
There will be now.
Dom, do you have a drum roll ready?
Because I think we have to get Stuart's popcorn pick of the week.
What do you say, Dom?
There we go.
There
we go
Boom lay it on us buddy
shouldn't be any surprise.
It's a kid's movie Leo.
It's an animated movie from Adam Sandler on Netflix.
Oh, that's newer too, isn't it?
2003 is when it came out.
Oh boy am I off?
It's really good like
I love
Sandman all my life
Yeah,
and you think he's doing a kid's movie and like oh boy, how's he get how's this gonna work?
It's great.
It's almost like it's a musical
More than
anything
else.
There's a lot of music in it.
Nice.
And Sandman and Bill Burr are kind of the lead characters.
Bill Burr in 2003 is in this?
Yeah,
Bill Burr
is a turtle named Squirtle.
And
Adam Sandler
is a lizard named Leo, and they live in a classroom.
And they've, uh,
they can
talk.
The kids don't know they can talk.
It gets into a whole thing and a lot of music and them guiding through these, guiding these kids through the fifth grade year.
I mean, that doesn't surprise me.
He made eight crazy nights and people, I think people thought like, Oh gosh, he's making it like an, like an R rated cartoon about Hanukkah.
No, it's a movie for kids.
Like he is so childlike in that sense.
And I don't mean that as an insult.
Like there's something about him.
His Mark Twain award special was so wonderful because everyone who did that spoke on behalf.
Did nothing it was like Conan's as well did nothing but gosh about how great of a human he is and I am a total fan of his I don't I've not seen all of his movies.
I don't need to I just love his vibe and who he is as a person and
He seems like it and his films are like this.
They're very sweet.
It's just a very sweet Atmosphere he presents in his films wedding singer.
It's just it's a very syrupy and it's funny and it's really good But Rob Snyder is in this movie
You're wondering us.
Of course he is.
It's an Adam Sandler movie.
Here's my Sandler thing.
I have, okay, so I met him a couple of times back in the day.
Very nice guy.
I had a friend who worked for Common Control, so they put out a CD-ROM.
That's how far back, this was like 93.
On the cover of the CD-ROM, Adam Sandler, Pete Schwabba.
So my kids see that, and again.
My buddy was just throwing me a bone.
He was already on Saturday Night Live.
I'm still working in clubs, you know, but my kids see that.
They're like, whoa, your careers went different ways.
And I'm like, no, he was already famous.
That was just a friend putting me out there.
So I had to dig my way out of an Adam Sandler hole for the last 25.
You're coming out on a booth.
It hurts.
So do they bring that up just like?
Like ribbit you ever once a while.
Oh dad.
Oh, they're good movie.
It's no big daddy.
I guess.
Oh, let's see if it fades and not gonna be in your next film.
Is he if
I could have cast Adam Sandler in the Godfather Green Bay.
You bet your ass I would.
Another interesting part of this movie is that Sandler is putting his kids to work.
Two of his daughters do like prominent
voice.
Yeah.
Oh, babies.
I mean,
Well, he's
got a
crew that's been with him for 20 years.
I'm not shunning or
happy Gilmore.
Happy Gilmore too was, you know, it was fun.
I feel like there was some things that didn't need to be in there, but it was a good movie.
It's still based in heart.
And what I really loved is that, you know, the, that, you know, how they treated the Julie Bowen character in that movie.
And she was surprised.
She didn't expect to be invited back at all.
Cause she's like, well, I'm in my fifties and women don't get to be.
You know attractive moms and they have to be this kind of thing and they're like I was surprised I was invited.
I thought that was great, but Didn't think you need all the celebrities that had in it didn't need like if you look at the the himself or herself lineup on the credit You're like wow, you know a lot of people and they all showed up for this my goodness gracious
Well, it reminds me of kind of what my pick was going to be the cannonball run
So many great
bloopers.
So many great bloopers at the end of that movie.
Yeah.
Stuart Waddell's popcorn pick of the week, ladies and gentlemen, you want to hear this and want to watch this, especially if you have kids.
Stuart's got great taste in movies, if not rock and roll.
It's Leo.
So thank you.
That's a great pick, Stuart.
Thank you very
much.
Check it out on Netflix.
Definitely.
Never heard of it.
Speaking of overrated on the stream, oddly to.
It says Rolling Stones, another Rolling Stones, and also Zephyros Burgers and Oshkosh Theatre, best in Oshkosh.
If you're
looking
to have a theater experience, that's great stuff.
So what else can we put a bow on?
Can I, I'm going to squeeze in my slash story here, I think, because we've got storage.
Yeah.
We got,
we got one more minute.
All right.
I'm going to, I'm going to tease this and we'll do this and this isn't even.
worth sticking around for a tease, but I'm going to tease it anyway.
How do you like that?
That's a hard sell.
All right, we've got some, we've got a few texts we'll clean up.
We'll read the, we'll finish the text on the other side of this very short break.
A nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bakastur.
Jay Wattles, you hear him on this network.
He does outstanding work and I am proud to call you a friend, sir.
Great stuff tonight.
Thanks for having me on, guys.
Always.
All right, check it out.
Greg, I am going to tell my slash story.
Yeah,
absolutely.
Please do
so.
This is going to crush.
All right.
I cannot wait.
Oh boy.
I hope it's not overrated.
Welcome
back to Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
My name is Greg Bach and across the state is Mr. Pete Schwabba.
You are listening to us on the Civic Media Network.
We appreciate you being here tonight.
It's a Thursday evening or as we adults call it Friday Eve.
And if you want to be part of the conversation, you can still get in your last thoughts on the most overrated rock star or band by calling or texting 855-752-4842-855-755.
Civic leave a comment on the live stream.
We are on Facebook, YouTube and the platform.
We still call Twitter.
You can also call text or leave a voice note through the Civic Media app and so much more when you get the app, but check that out.
It is app.
Absolutely free before we get into the tip of the night.
There's a couple things Pete You wanted to do there were some more messages through the text line, but also a story
I've got now.
Thanks to Dom.
I've got another store.
I just want to say really quickly I love that song.
It's Danny song I think it's called and I was in the subway in Chicago probably 2008 in town for a wedding with my son and we were waiting for the train these two dudes
We're singing that song with their guitars and it was nice brought tears to my eyes.
Yeah, their
voices work together and I'm like, this is so sad.
No one will ever know who these two guys are.
I mean, maybe they became oasis.
I don't know.
But at the time it was just phenomenal and it was it was beautiful.
So I love that.
I love that song.
I love Ann Murray.
I love Ann Murray.
And I think that was Kenny Loggins wrote that.
I want to say, Greg.
Let's you talk.
I'll look it up.
You go to the Google So my slash story really quickly is just I was a student at DePaul I was a freshman and I walk into this sports bar called Kelly's Was right on the campus and there's all these you know dudes with the Paul jackets and they like want to be athletes and athletes and then there's slash
Sitting at a table with the cheeseburger.
He had the hat on the glasses.
He's slashed and he said Kelly's bar And I'm like, I'm pretty sure that's slashed and these guys are no way What would he be doing in Lincoln Park or in Chicago?
You know and as it turns out we found out like the next day guns and roses rented an apartment on the DePaul or near the DePaul campus because
they were
trying to stay clean Making an album.
I was probably the album with patients on it
And they would, uh, they would yell out the window and have the Paul students go rent them videos at blockbuster and then throw them like 20 or 50 bucks or whatever.
But that was like, I was right next to slash.
He's just eating the cheeseburger.
This dude who stood out like a sore thumb yet totally belong.
It was beautiful.
I saw Joe Perry at Disney world one time I was there and I saw it was like, there was a group of people around him.
Like that's Joe Perry.
And that's when I found out that Joe Perry is like five foot four.
He is a tiny human being, but he, I mean, you know, he, the staff did a good job of keeping people away from him because he was with his family, but he was still very gracious.
People wanted like, you know, a thumbs up or a high five.
He's just very, very nice.
And I really appreciate it.
But I was just like, that's Joe Perry.
That's what I, that was when I realized that, you know, like, Oh, wow, the celebrities are not there.
They are like us, but much shorter.
Before we get out of here really quick, Mike from Spring Green is on the phone and want to talk about the question of the night.
Mike, good evening.
What's
going on?
Hey,
Mike.
Hey, how you doing?
What about you two?
I think they're overrated.
We heard about that.
Let's see.
Sydney did also mention you two.
Pete and I disagree.
But again, I understand why someone may think they are overrated, but not me.
I personally love them.
I just phone.
all that dramatic singing and it all sounds the same to me I mean I'm a musician so I should like have a little bit of insight on this and it's just I don't know if something else I'll change channels it's just like the yarn
But you should never
change channel when listening to us.
Thanks a lot, Mike, from Spring Green.
Thank you, sir.
Great to hear from you.
Appreciate you calling in tonight.
Absolutely.
Tom from Hartford says, I like Elvis Christmas and gospel stuff.
That's a great point.
And Matt from Eau Claire says, girls just want to have fun.
Album 1984, Nirvana, never got it.
It's okay.
That's it.
That's
fair.
He says, Zep is the best.
Big period.
They did every genre existing at the time.
Hotdog is better country than most of that dial today.
I think
he's
on fire there, dude.
I mean,
yeah, that's I think we're caught up with
the Zep is the best.
They were also sued by a lot of people for stealing their music.
And I would say, again, it's a different era, but I like them.
I like some of their tunes.
I was all over my neighborhood growing up a Zeppelin Pink Floyd.
But, you know,
It's whatever you relate to
exactly.
I mean, it's all it doesn't matter what I think.
Honestly, you can love the band as much as you do.
Sometimes I'm just like, I don't understand why we love them, but it's not for me to explain because I'm never going to tell you.
I'm never going to convince you that the Beach Boys are fine.
I love the Beach Boys.
I know you do.
It's great.
All right.
Before we get out of here really quick tip of the night.
Okay.
All right.
The first big story.
We don't have much time.
So we'll make it very, very quick here.
The viral macaque name punch that went viral for enjoying its little toy plushie is outgrowing the plushie and making friends.
And I think this is very cute because I think we live in a time and day where people want to hold on to their, their plushies, but I think it's important to go out and make friends and see people.
And that's basically the tip for me for tonight is I know you love your plushie.
People love their house.
People love staying in, but man, send a text, make a call, go out to lunch, find someone you love and tell
that you love them and make some friends.
Have a good time.
That's about it for me.
That's all I want.
Pete, any thoughts?
Well, I'll give you my thoughts off the air after I Google plushie.
How does that sound?
It's a stuffed animal.
Okay.
I'm in favor.
Okay.
All right.
We are in favor of people making friends and I'm in favor of punch the macaque.
I can't.
That just feels very bad.
I'm in favor of him making friends as well.
But that brings us to the end of yet another tip of the night.
I really want to know how much we paid Jim Henson Corporation for that celebrity voiceover.
We'll
pay.
We're
going to find us.
All right, on behalf of Pete, I want to thank Dominic.
I want to thank Tucker.
I want to thank traffic and engineering.
You are all great.
We talk into operational microphones because of you.
Thank you to everyone who called texted, left a comment on the live stream.
I want to thank Peter.
No, Peter's not his name.
His name is not Peter.
It was Patrick, Patrick
Dahon and Stuart
J. Waddles, our guests tonight.
Don't forget tomorrow.
Oh, we're talking to the former lead singer of Chicago, Jason Sheff tomorrow.
That's fun.
Gene Crichton from the Planetarium.
They're turning 60, so don't go anywhere.
They're still programming happening, and we'll see you tomorrow.
On behalf of everyone, have a great night.
Pete, take us out.
Good night, Wisconsin.
Have a great night, folks.
Trying to make sense of the world.
You've got Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Call our toll free number now.
Headlines, culture, and real conversation.
And
now, our feature presentation.
Here's Pete and Greg.
Good evening, everyone.
Welcome back to Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
We are here coming to you live on the Civic Media Network in places all over the state.
We hope you're having a great night.
Thank you so much for being here.
If you want to be part of the conversation, 855-752-4842, 855-755, Civic, leave a comment on that live stream.
We are currently on Facebook, YouTube and the platform.
We still call Twitter, still ahead.
Civic Media's very own Mr. Stuart J. Waddles gives us...
probably his thoughts on our question of the night, but also gives us his popcorn picks.
And then we close out the entire show with a handy tip from Pete and Greg.
So don't go anywhere.
We're having a good time right now.
Pete, how are you doing?
I'm doing okay.
Technical
gaffes aside, I think we're rocking and rolling.
It was a fun first hour talking to Greg.
And if you missed the first hour, folks, you can check that out in podcast form at civicmedia.us.
And what do you say?
Should we reintroduce?
Before we read some text, I think we should reintroduce our question of the night.
Let's
talk about the
question.
Okay, question.
Question.
Question.
Pregunta.
Question.
Question.
Okay, I have a question.
Questions.
This question.
Domanda.
Question.
Question.
Questions.
What band is the most overrated in your opinion, folks?
What do you think?
Yeah.
Or Rockstar, Rockstar, or band that is seriously overrated.
You can let us know on the text line at 855-752-4842-855-75 Civic.
You can also drop us a comment on the app.
Text us over the app, or if you're watching the radio on YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter, you can drop us a stream comment.
Let's start with this stream, Greg, because Dave... Yeah.
...says the doors.
Okay.
And, I mean, this is all subjective.
There's no right or wrong answers, but...
I think you too is a fantastic band.
I do too.
And here's the thing about you too.
But yeah, yeah, you two still, I know that they tour with a different drummer, but Adam or Larry.
Me too.
It's still my favorite Super Bowl halftime show right after 9-11 with
all
the theater they put into that and streets have no name, which is
why
I love it.
But you know what?
It's fun.
It's a fun discussion.
Daniel Berry Sports Highlights on the stream says, happy Thursday.
What's up, everyone?
Hello.
You tell us, Daniel.
Good to have you, buddy.
Good to have
Brett in brown deer.
I, I will say this right now at my wedding.
I told the DJ no journey is allowed and people were upset.
I'm like, deal with it.
I'm paying for it.
You're not.
So.
I like Journey.
Um, I like their hits that I like.
Who's crying now?
Uh, I don't like, like some of the, and I mean, Don't Stop Believing is a great song, but it is probably the most overplayed song.
Like when I first heard it, loved it, learned how to play it on the guitar, but now it's everywhere.
New generations have adopted it.
It's their anthem.
It's a little overplayed.
So it's hard to disagree with that, with that text as well.
Also, I want to thank Greg and Waukesha who texted in earlier telling us, informing us.
breaking the story, if you will, about
Bob
Harlow.
He put on, uh, Oh, can you erase text messages?
I don't, I thought, Oh, here it is.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Here it is.
So he also went on to say, uh,
overrated band artist, at least in Wisconsin, Pat McCurdy.
It's fine.
But I mean, he's still, he
was at that show where you played with Pat McCurdy and that just all came
together on this.
Where Greg and I met, I've known Greg for about 30 years now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We, we, yeah, we came
up.
So yeah, thank you so much for getting in touch with us.
Also really quick.
Uh, I just wanted to group these together because who knew Christian Eau Claire and who was the other person?
Uh, Nick in Marshall said kid rock is the most overrated rock star.
I don't disagree with that.
I don't like, I just, I don't even know if he's overrated.
I just don't like his music.
I don't like him personally, but that's really not what it's about.
There's a lot of rock and roll stars that I probably wouldn't like personally, but I don't know that kid rocks overrated because he hasn't, he has hits in his own little stratosphere.
I
don't know.
I mean, that's, it's, it's, um, his music is boring in my opinion.
His music to me is always a guy trying to be the coolest guy at the bar.
And you're like, yes, we get it, Bob.
You would get it, Bob.
Yes, you can play guitar all the time and he got sued for doing it.
Yeah, I mean that then but then the rap game the rap game dried up on him He became a rock star.
That's what they do when right that's machine gun Kelly Who else let's see here mark him
out horrib 608 says PSY that did Gangnam style.
I forgot about that song.
Oh, yes, I yeah, I mean
That song was fun.
That song was fun.
I listened to it as many times as I needed to and then I was done with it.
But yeah, I can understand that.
That song can be very, very fun.
Kind
of a one hit wonder too though, right?
Oh, absolutely.
Wow,
and I'm going for the big hitters like I'm going for the Titans of music and rock and roll and I'm like I don't really enjoy any of them.
So Sure, that is
well, that's a gutsy.
Look, I love a controversial take when it's we're talking about stuff.
This isn't really that important.
That's the fun of the whole thing, right?
So yeah, I can live with that.
I said I said I don't even remember who I said we've got Let's get to the social media.
Oh, I said Banjovi and
my
Jovi
I think Bon Jovi is just, you know, a couple tunes you tap your toes to, but I just never,
I just
think it's fine.
Like usually it's like, you know, they put out an album, then they put out another album and then people are like, ooh, they're really good.
That'll be tune I always listen to.
I like
that first guitar.
Uh,
I love, I love jam bands that know how to jam correctly versus a band that's like, Oh, it's one guitar player and three to four other people who are just like supporting them.
But
we talked about that, Greg.
And
I, we kind of, I don't think we totally disagree, but I, to me a lengthy.
guitar solo can ruin a good song it's like I get it you know how to play the guitar that sounded good for about a minute can we get back to the lyrics and the melody now you know
I I think it's how you interweave the jamming it that's how if it's if it's a 30 minute guitar solo then yes I understand it but if you if it's guitar bass and drums and everyone's doing their thing and they're having fun then it's more entertaining I get that but
30 minutes.
You need a beating.
Wow.
My goodness.
You're so extreme, Peter.
30 minutes, Greg.
Come
on.
That's a gym
class.
Then don't.
God.
Peter's
scary.
Tom from Hartford says Bob Dylan.
I don't disagree with that, Greg.
What do you say about that?
I agree.
I like Bob Dylan's Nashville stuff, but I don't really like, I don't, I don't worship at the altar of Bob Dylan.
Yeah.
Our pal Chris Casper says I really love like 12 of their songs.
They ain't no Beatles.
Did I miss it?
What are we talking about here?
Yeah, I don't know another
Chris, but we'll find it We then like we got Daniel from a Nash.
Oh, you read that.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
Are we caught up?
Oh, we got a couple Facebook ones if we can get to these before the I said Michael Bolton to
I don't know why you think he's overrated like it's not like he's I mean that to me he's not big enough to be overrated I think he's beloved by people but he's not like Topping the charts and no one's saying like Michael Bolton is my inspiration He is the reason why music is the way it is I think I think you just don't like Michael Bolton I think people do say that though, and
I
don't know right,
but
you're
right
He might
not be
overrated
because he shouldn't even be rated Wow He
just
shouts
no he does he shouts Michael Bolton shouts
Just saying, dude, you know, I don't know.
I just, this, this sounds like old man shaking your fist at the wind man.
I was like,
where are my garbage cans?
I didn't like him when I was in college.
Yeah, understood.
Sheila Rosenberg Seidel says, kiss.
Okay.
Another one for kiss.
And then hers, it might be your sister, Sarah Jean says.
Take that back.
Okay.
Uh, this is nightlight with each Schwabba and Greg Bach.
There are fighting words on the text line and on social media.
We are coming right back with our pal and civic media colleague, Mr. Stuart waddles, who's going to talk music and make the popcorn pick of the week.
It's the civic media radio
network.
Welcome
back.
This is Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Michael McDonough.
I mean Greg Basta.
We're having fun.
We're talking music tonight.
We're talking overrated pop stars, artists, bands.
Dom Lee's work in the board.
First time with Greg.
I'm glad you're here.
This
is Greg.
It's wonderful.
I'm, I'm happy to be here.
I'm very excited.
I am really, if folks, this is one of those situations where you need to check out the live stream because Stuart is bringing the nighttime vibes of, let's talk about music and let's
talk.
Five minutes.
The quiet Stuart here on civic media.
Oh, it's good to have you buddy.
We, um,
You know, it's, uh, we're excited to get your pick after the news, but right now, do you have a band or a pop star or someone you think is overrated?
I do, but I think it might help to start with who is rated.
You brought this up before.
How can you be overrated if you're not really rated to begin with?
And I thought a kiss immediately, but I mean, so let's go back to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame past five years.
Bad company.
Already rated overrated not rated enough.
I think they're not rated enough honestly because bad company not getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a big deal for a long time Cindy
Loper where do you stand on Ms.
Loper?
Lover lover love a few of her tunes, but I can't say I own her whole library Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I mean She wrote some a couple iconic tunes time after time girls just want to have fun.
Those
are she didn't write that song
or performed it
to cover.
It's a cover.
I got it.
Who's
saying the
movie Hall of Fame?
She was part of like the first WrestleMania.
Wasn't she?
Yeah.
First or second.
I can't remember exactly when
score.
It was kind of on MTV leading up to WrestleMania.
I think to get that going.
Okay.
A couple more here to see if they're rated overrated sound garden.
No,
I
don't think they're overrated.
I think they're great.
Yeah, me too.
I'm with you.
Foo Fighters
love them
love them.
No, they're I think they're I think they are no worthy of being in the rock and all they're not overrated All
right, some of some of mine and Pete I've been listening you're not gonna like this Springsteen
Give me
Johnny Krueger all day long buddy.
Oh my god.
Give me John Krueger melon cap all day with Springsteen on the shelf.
Oh
You
know,
is it too late to find a guest for the popcorn pick of the week in a few minutes?
Nope.
They're locked in.
This is a contractual obligation.
If we don't do this, we get sued.
Overrated.
How is he overrated?
I mean, I don't want to dig too deep
into it.
I hear too much about it, and there's so
much spring steam.
He's the greatest American songwriter there is.
That'll get up to him.
OK, exactly.
You can't say, how is Bob?
Bruce Springsteen overrated when we just got done saying Bob Dylan is overrated I feel like subjective I understand it's a matter for me that people like worship at the altar of some of these artists where you as a person can't not like them or not be into them like like I've had people yell at me saying how do you not like them like it's easy I'm doing it right now but like I understand if someone sees
Bruce Springsteen is overrated.
I get that
completely.
Hey, Tommy, you don't like Springsteen.
I get it.
Overrated is where I have an issue.
And Cougar, to me, is like a poor man's Springsteen.
And
I like Dover.
I know.
I know.
I know.
I know Springsteen fans.
And I know things like comments about Johnny Cougar probably sent over.
Maroon 5, overrated.
Oh, yeah.
So overrated.
How did
that guys
get anywhere?
Their first album is amazing.
After that, it's just junk.
Don't get me wrong.
I love female MCs, but I don't get.
Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, give me like Queen Latifa, MC Light.
Oh, MC Light.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What
about Salt and Peppa?
Salt and Peppa, but with Spinderella.
She's not with them anymore.
And I feel like that's a crime.
There's no, you can't have Salt and Peppa without Spinderella.
That's just
what she is.
No, she's been to Rella.
She's the DJ.
So there's salt.
There's pepper.
And then spend Rella's in the middle doing the DJ work, but she's not with the group anymore, which is like, what am I doing here?
This is what happens when you ask a newsman on the show.
He does a deep dive.
He does journalism and investigative reporting.
He's wrong about Springsteen, but I appreciate the effort here, Stuart.
This is impressive.
Billy Eilish.
I think she's fantastic.
I like the name one song.
What?
Name a song.
the one with the guy with the thing a bad guy bad boy bad guy i don't need another i don't need to like i don't need to know her why do i why do i have i hear her name far too often why do i have to know her songs to like her or like what she's about why do i have to be
overrated i guess i get maybe i'm conflating overrated and being overexposed because
i think
again
you try
and keep that second song and what is it there isn't there's one of them
I don't know I don't think that's I don't think that's a I don't think that's a justification for calling someone overrated though I think you just don't like them.
Well, it's it's I think it's more of Again exposure has a lot to do with it and to me if you're being Exposed there's people that think a lot about you.
They love you They're rating you and I think that there is an over liking of this artist
Wow, this is like
with you on kiss where they ever really rated
Okay, we'll get back to that in a moment.
We're going to continue this conversation with Jay Waddle.
Civic Me is very own reporter of Southeastern Wisconsin here talking music, giving us the popcorn picks of the week here on Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Don't go anywhere.
You're listening to us on the Civic Media Network.
Stay tuned.
Stay informed.
Stay close.
It's time for the nightlight popcorn pick of the week where we recommend a movie that you'll either enjoy or won't Here's your host peach wabba.
Hey and Greg Bach,
too Great as that was playing.
I'm like wait a minute.
They're still using this and then I forgot we
Welcome back
to nightlight.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am peach wabba and Greg Bach is sitting across the state from me really but
I like
that
So
Tom Wayne Lee is in
Madison and Stuart J. Wattles joins us tonight from Racine He covers news for civic media for WRJN and does an outstanding job despite his music tastes.
Hmm.
I love when you said that and you went you went Stuart is here to make the popcorn pick of the week.
So let's uh, let's just about an
actual movie and not popcorn I had a test tasted a bunch of go real overall red and bacher this week
in preparation.
I had
some sriracha popcorn.
It was delicious.
I thought you were a fan of the show and listen.
Oh,
sorry.
I got that one.
I'm not going to move for you.
We will make a movie pick.
But Greg and I want to ask you a few questions about your movie watching tendencies.
How do you like to watch movies?
Are you a theater guy, a home guy?
What do you mostly asleep these days?
I got three young kids.
So anything I'm watching.
I got time for is a kid related.
So that's kind of different than, you know, when
I
was
younger.
Well, then when was the last time you went to a theater to see a movie then?
Oh, probably frozen to other.
That
was five years ago, six years ago.
Follow up.
When's the last time you went to a movie theater to see a movie that you wanted to see that you were taking kids?
I don't know that I wanted to see it.
It was playing.
It was the.
Bruce
Springsteen, the Will Smith aliens.
Oh,
yeah.
That movie
Independence Day or well, well,
well, well, well, well,
well, well, well,
well, well,
well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well,
well, well, well, well, well,
well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well,
well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well,
well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well
Would you order food in the theater like get a dinner and whatnot or are you that type person?
Okay?
No, that's no that's no no no popcorn is all right, you know give me some some goobers if they got them Do they
do they have no goobers anymore?
We don't have you we I was just saying this earlier on the show I get goobers at the dollar store and Bring him into the theater, which is so weird because the theater used to be the only place you could get them right Raisin that's though you can count on the reason that's to be there.
They're still there
And so what is your favorite snack?
Is it popcorn or is it one of the your candy choices your slurpee?
The
doctor told me I shouldn't eat the popcorn That's a funny line you guys didn't you guys didn't sell that at all You know the Rolos are good the caramels I like Caramel inside the end the chocolate's good.
Yeah, is it?
No, I go back both ways.
It's whatever you want.
Yeah.
Whatever you want.
Caramel, because normally that like draws ire from people.
So I'll throw it out there.
This guy say caramel?
Oh, Stuart, I guess you're not of the people anymore, man.
Even for caramel.
How's your Rolls Royce doing?
Yeah, damn.
It's whatever.
It's however it, you know, flows, I would say.
So, excuse me here.
In the younger days when you did see movies, did you ever movie hop in your life?
Oh yeah, they would drop
us
off at the movie theater when I was 11, 12, 13 years old and we would hop movies, go over and play at the pick and save next door.
Yeah.
Stuart, where do you sit with, like, when you watch a movie at home, and you and I have discussed bluey before, you introduced me to that kid's show, and I don't have kids at home anymore, and it made me sad.
That's how good the show is.
But what do you do at home?
Do you have a different snack preference at home?
Typically, it's a movie night on Friday.
So we get some pizza pie from a local eatery, and somebody gets a pick.
Either the oldest, the youngest, sometimes mom and dad gets the pick.
So that's when we introduce kind of the older stuff that, or stuff that, you know, they wouldn't pick that I think that they would like.
So that's kind of spread it out.
If you don't mind me asking how old are the kids?
Okay.
So
we're still, so when mom and dad get to pick, there's still guidelines on what you are going to watch now.
Is there a movie that you, as a movie fan, can't wait to show?
Let's just say you're oldest at first, but there's a movie that you're like, I watched this when I was a kid, I shouldn't have, but I can't wait to show them.
Is there a movie for you that's like that where you're like, hey, don't tell your mom, or just don't tell anyone, we're gonna watch a caddy shack, just picking that one out of the blue.
That's probably it, because at least my boy would love that.
It's just a nice, silly movie that he would love.
We dropped back to the future on him last week.
So that was
a,
you know, we
haven't done that.
They've seen bits and pieces of it, but it's all sitting right there in front of them now.
And why is he sitting with his mom?
There's some weird questions that come up.
I
saw one of the, like the, uh, one of the early sand people and she did not like that at all.
We haven't gone
back to that yet.
Kids
come on in we're firing up porkies
Come on
in My favorite when I was young.
Oh, great.
Great.
Here's it's funny you mentioned caddyshack because I remember my kids We were just kind of lounging on the couch one day, you know and it was on in the afternoon and it's the scene where they're It's the gopher and the gopher's dancing.
I'm like all the kids will like this My kids were like, I don't know seven and three or something like that and it's a hard cut
to a naked girl in the pool on some guy's shoulders and I almost tear an ACL looking for the remote and I can't find it and I'm like, what am I doing?
They're just like, oh
yeah.
Yeah.
But they didn't care.
It was like boobs and it's like, okay, they're kids.
They wouldn't be, you know, it was like a graphic sex scene or something.
That's pretty hopeless.
Now, Blues Brothers, I've, I've shown parts of that to them.
I think that would
be an
important movie
for them to
see.
Just because part of it was shot in Milwaukee or?
Uh, that the music part of it, these legends, Ray and Aretha Franklin and
Great movie.
Um, all right.
So I think we should probably do folks.
Stuart wattles is here.
He's going to make the popcorn pick and just, uh, mo, we are moments away.
He covers news for, uh, southeast Wisconsin here at civic media, uh, at WRJN and in Green Bay.
And it's, uh, it's always fun to hear your voice up here in the north, uh, northeast Stuart.
I'd like that arrangement.
Yeah, great to be here.
That was a moment.
It's great to have you.
I love that.
You said something and there was just nothing.
I'm like, waiting for that.
Just great.
It's just wonderful.
That might have
been the biggest awkward silence in the history of nightlight.
I'm
glad I'm on the
promo.
That's a
promo right
there.
Is there a WBA award for best silence?
I don't know.
I mean, it should be
better.
There will be now.
Dom, do you have a drum roll ready?
Because I think we have to get Stuart's popcorn pick of the week.
What do you say, Dom?
There we go.
There we go.
Boom.
Lay it on us, buddy.
Shouldn't be any surprise.
It's a kid's movie.
Leo.
It's an animated movie from Adam Sandler on Netflix.
Oh, that's newer too, isn't it?
2003 is when it came out.
Oh boy, am I off?
Okay.
It's really good.
Like,
you know, I've loved
Sandman all my life.
Yeah.
And you think he's doing a kid's movie and like, oh boy, how's this gonna work?
It's great.
It's almost like a musical.
more than
anything
else.
There's a lot of music in it.
Nice.
And Sandman and Bill Burr are kind of the lead characters.
Bill Burr in 2003 is in this?
Yeah,
Bill
Burr is a turtle named Squirtle.
And
Adam Sandler
is a lizard named Leo, and they live in a classroom.
And they've,
they can talk.
The kids don't know they can talk.
It gets into a whole thing and a lot of music and them guiding through these, guiding these kids through the fifth grade year.
That doesn't surprise me.
He made eight crazy nights and people, I think people thought like, Oh gosh, he's making it like an, like an R rated cartoon about Hanukkah.
No, it's a movie for kids.
Like he is so childlike in that sense.
And I don't mean that as an insult.
Like there's something about him.
His Mark Twain award special was so wonderful because everyone who did that spoke on behalf, did nothing.
It was like Conan's as well.
Did nothing but gosh about how great of a human he is.
And
I am a total fan of his.
I've not seen all of his movies.
I don't need to.
I just love his vibe and who he is as a person.
He seems like it and his films are like this.
They're very sweet.
It's just a very sweet atmosphere he presents in his films.
Wedding singer.
It's a very syrupy and it's funny and it's really good.
But Rob Snyder is in this movie.
You're wondering us.
Of course he is.
It's an Adam Sandler movie.
My sandler thing.
I have okay, so I met him a couple times back in the day.
Very nice guy.
I had a friend who worked for Comedy Central, so they put out a CD-ROM.
That's how far back this was like 93.
On the cover of the CD-ROM, Adam Sandler, Pete Schwabba.
So my kids see that, and again, my buddy was just throwing me a bone.
I wasn't, he was already on Saturday Night Live.
I'm still working in clubs, you know, but my kids see that.
And they're like, whoa, your careers went different ways.
It's no big daddy, I guess.
Oh listen, David Spades is not going to be in your next film, is he?
If I could have cast Adam Sandler in the Godfather Green Bay, you bet your ass I would.
Another interesting part of this movie is that Sandler is putting his kids to work.
Two of his daughters do like prominent
voice roles in it.
Yeah.
Nepo babies.
Wow
crew that's been with
him for 20 years.
I thought that was great, but Didn't think you need all the celebrities that had and it didn't need like if you look at the the himself or herself lineup on the credit You're like, wow, you know a lot of people and they all showed up for this my goodness gracious
Well, it reminds me of kind of what my pick was going to be the cannonball run
So many great
bloopers so many great bloopers at the end of that
movie.
Yeah, Stuart Waddell's popcorn pick of the week.
Ladies and gentlemen, you want to hear this and want to watch this, especially if you have kids.
Stuart's got great taste in movies, if not rock and roll.
It's Leo.
So thank you.
That's a great pick, Stuart.
Thank you very much.
Check it out on Netflix.
Definitely never heard of it.
Speaking of overrated on the stream, oddly to
It says Rolling Stones, another one for the Rolling Stones, and also Zephyros, Burgers, and Oshkosh Theatre, best in Oshkosh.
If you're
looking to
have a theater experience, that's great stuff.
So what else can we put a bow on?
Can I, I'm going to squeeze in my slash story here, I think, because we've got storage.
Yeah.
We
got, we got one more minute.
All right.
I'm going to, I'm going to tease this and we'll do this and this isn't even.
worth sticking around for a tease.
But I'm going to tease it anyway.
How do you like that?
That's a hard sell.
All right, we've got some, we've got a few texts we'll clean up.
We'll read the, we'll finish the text on the other side of this very short break.
A nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bakastur.
Jay Waddles.
You hear him on this network.
He does outstanding work and I'm proud to call you a friend, sir.
Great stuff tonight.
Thanks for having me on, guys.
Always.
All right.
Check it out, Greg.
I'm going to tell my slash story.
Yeah,
absolutely.
Please do
so.
This is going to crush.
All right.
I cannot wait.
Oh
boy.
Hope it's not overrated.
Welcome
back to Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
My name is Greg Bach and across the state is Mr. Pete Schwabba.
You are listening to us on the Civic Media Network.
We appreciate you being here tonight.
It's a Thursday evening, or as we adults call it, Friday Eve.
And if you want to be part of the conversation, you can still get in your last thoughts on the most overrated rock star or band by calling or texting 855-752-4842-855-755.
Civic, leave a comment on the live stream.
We are on Facebook, YouTube, and the platform.
We still call Twitter.
You can also call, text, or leave a voice note through the Civic Media app.
And so much more when you get the app, but check that out.
It is app.
Absolutely free before we get into the tip of the night.
There's a couple of things Pete You wanted to do there were some more messages through the text line, but also a story
I've got now.
Thanks to Dom.
I've got another store.
I just want to say really quickly.
I love that song It's Danny song I think it's called and I was in the subway in Chicago probably 2008 in town for a wedding with my son and we were waiting for the train These two dudes were singing that song with their guitars and it was nice
brought tears to my eyes.
Yeah, their
voices work together.
And I'm like, this is so sad.
No one will ever know who these two guys are.
I mean, maybe they became oasis.
I don't know.
But at the time, it was just phenomenal.
And it was, it was beautiful.
So I love that.
I love that song.
I love Ann Murray.
I love Ann Murray.
And I think that was Kenny Loggins wrote that.
I want to say Greg.
Uh, let's you talk.
I'll look it up.
You go to the Google.
So my slash story really quickly is just, I was a student at DePaul.
I was a freshman and I walk into this sports bar called Kelly's, uh, was right on the campus.
And there's all these, uh, you know, dudes with the Paul jackets and they like want to be athletes and athletes.
And then there's slash.
Sitting at a table with the cheeseburger.
He had the hat on the glasses.
He's slashed and he said Kelly's bar And I'm like, I'm pretty sure that slashed and these guys are no way what would he be doing in Lincoln Park or in Chicago, you know And as it turns out we found out like the next day guns and roses rented an apartment on the DePaul or near the DePaul campus because
they were
trying to stay clean Making an album.
I was probably the album with patients on it and they would they would yell out the window and have DePaul students go rent them
videos at blockbuster and then throw them like 20 or 50 bucks or whatever.
But that was like, I was right next to slash.
He's just eating the cheeseburger.
This dude who stood out like a sore thumb yet totally belong.
It was beautiful.
I saw Joe Perry at Disney World one time I was there and I saw it was like there was a group of people around him like that's Joe Perry.
And that's when I found out that Joe Perry is like five foot four.
He is a tiny human being, but he, I mean, you know, he
the staff did a good job of keeping people away from him because he was with his family.
But he was still very gracious.
People wanted like, you know, a thumbs up or a high five.
He's just very, very nice.
And I really appreciate it.
But I was just like, that's Joe Perry.
That's what I, that was when I realized that, you know, like, oh, wow, the celebrities are not, they're, they are like us, but much shorter.
Before we get out of here really quick, Mike from spring green is on the phone and wanting to talk about the question of the night.
Mike, good evening.
What's
going
on?
Hey, how you doing?
What about you two?
I think they're overrated.
We heard about that.
Let's see, your Sydney did also mention you two.
Pete and I disagree, but again, I understand why someone may think they are overrated, but not me.
I personally love them.
I just found all that dramatic singing and it all sounds the same to me.
I mean, I'm a musician, so I should have a little bit of...
site on this and it's just I don't know if that model I'll change channels it's just like the yarn
And Matt from Eau Claire says girls just want to have fun album 1984 Nirvana never got it.
It's okay.
That's it.
That's
fair.
He says Zep is the best big period.
They did every genre existing at the time.
Hotdog is better country than most of that dial today.
I think he's on fire there, dude.
I mean,
yeah, that's I think we're caught up
with the Zep is the best.
It's great.
All right.
Before we get out of here, really quick tip of the night.
OK, all right.
Oh, you know, the first big
story.
We don't have much time, so make it very, very quick here.
The viral macaque name punch that went viral for enjoying its little toy plushie is outgrowing the plushie and making friends.
And I think this is very cute because I think we live in a time and day where people want to hold onto their plushies, but I think it's important to go out and make friends and see people.
And that's basically the tip for me for tonight is I know you love your plushie.
People love their house.
People love staying in, but man, send a text, make a call, go out to lunch, find someone you love and tell them that you love them and make some friends.
Have a good time.
That's about it for me.
That's all I want.
Pete, any thoughts?
Well, I'll give you my thoughts off the air after I Google plushie.
How does that sound?
It's a stuffed animal.
OK.
I'm in favor.
OK.
All right.
We are in favor of people making friends.
And I'm in favor of punch the macaque, macaque.
I can't.
That just feels very bad.
I'm in favor of him making friends as well.
But that brings us to the end of yet another tip of the night.
Oh, you know, it's the tip of the night.
I really want to know how much we paid Jim Henson Corporation for that celebrity voiceover.
We'll pay.
Oh yeah, definitely.
We're going to find us.
All right.
On behalf of Pete, I want to thank Dominic.
I want to thank Tucker.
I want to thank Traffic and Engineering.
You are all great.
We talk into operational microphones because of you.
Thank you to everyone who called, texted, left a comment on the live stream.
I want to thank Peter.
No, Peter's not his name.
His name is not Peter.
It was...
Patrick, Patrick
Dahan, and Stuart
J. Waddles, our guests tonight.
Don't forget tomorrow.
Oh, we're talking to the former lead singer of Chicago, Jason Sheff.
Tomorrow, and Gene Crichton from the Planetarium.
They're turning 60, so don't go anywhere.
They're still programming happening, and we'll see you tomorrow.
On behalf of everyone, have a great night.
Pete, take us out.
Good night, Wisconsin.
Have a great night, folks.
anywhere.
Here's Pete and Greg.
Let's talk about the question.
Okay, question.
Question.
Question.
Pregunta.
Question.
Question.
Okay, I have a question.
Questions.
This question.
Domanda.
Question.
Question.
Questions.
There's no right or wrong answers, but
Half of these, I'm reading, I'm like, oh, I love them.
I feel like, you know, the timeframe, I grew up in the 80s and the 90s, and I feel like there was a great deal of kudos, flowers to the doors.
It's fine.
I mean, I'm trying to think right now of bands that still have all like all of their original members.
I'm sure they're out there and they're just escaping me right now.
But yeah, yeah, you two still, I know that they tour with a different drummer, but Adam or Larry.
People still talk about it to this day, but
3-2
Welcome back, buddy.
Good to have you back on the show.
He says listening on WA UK journey worst band ever.
Wow.
Go to a bar around 11 o'clock on a Saturday night and scream that out loud.
See what happens next.
Ooh, baby.
I don't, I'm not a journey fan.
I
I will say this right now at my wedding, I told the DJ no journey is allowed and people were upset.
I'm like, deal with it.
I'm paying for it.
You're not.
I like their hits that I like.
Who's now... I don't like some of the... I mean, Don't Stop Believing is a great song, but it is probably the most overplayed song.
When I first heard it, loved it, learned how to play it on the guitar, but now it's everywhere.
New generations have adopted it.
It's their anthem.
It's a little overplayed, so it's hard to disagree with that text as well.
Also, I want to thank Greg and Waukesha who texted in earlier telling us, informing us.
breaking the story, if you will, about
Greg texted in a few times in the beginning of the show.
First of all, I love you to death, Greg.
I was never in the band, sweetheart, tripwire.
That was not a group I was in back in the day.
And he also went on to say, there was one other thing too here he put on.
Oh, did, can you erase text messages?
I don't, I thought, oh, here it is.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Here it is.
So he also went on to say,
overrated band artist, at least in Wisconsin, Pat McCurdy.
He goes on to say, McCurdy came to my Catholic music camp back in the day, wasn't impressed with him then, not impressed with him now.
And Greg, I know I was at that Catholic music camp back in the day.
I remember that show.
I played bass for him on stage.
Yeah, it was, they needed a bass player.
I could play three notes.
It's fine.
But I mean, he's still, he's still- And he
I just don't like his music.
I don't like him personally, but that's really not what it's about.
There's a lot of rock and roll stars that I probably wouldn't like personally, but I don't know that kid rocks overrated because he hasn't, he has hits in his own little stratosphere.
His music to me is always a guy trying to be the coolest guy at the bar.
And you're like, yes, we get it, Bob.
You would get it, Bob.
Yes, you can play guitar.
All the time and he got sued for doing it.
Yeah, I mean, but then the rap game, the rap game dried up on him and became a rock star.
That's what they do when, you know, ask machine gun Kelly.
Um, who else?
Let's see here.
Monica
But he's still to this day playing stadiums and they love him so much.
Do your thing, baby.
Anna in Madison listening in says, I think Gene Simmons and his band Kiss are overrated musicians.
I completely agree.
I think Kiss is an overrated band.
I said on the text, not the text line, but the post that you made, I said that I think that the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, and here was the T's, Elvis overrated.
Look, I love a controversy you'll take when it's, we're talking about stuff.
This isn't really that important.
That's the fun of the whole thing, right?
So I can live with that.
I said, I don't even remember who I said.
We've got, let's get to the social media.
Oh, he said Banjovi.
And
like, you know, they put out an album, then they put out another album and then people are like, ooh, they're really good.
That'll be tune I always listen to.
I like
Look, I'm not saying I hate them or anything.
I can totally understand that point, you know,
I think it's when we over intellectualize certain bands.
Daniel listening in on WMDX and Manasha says, grateful dead, boring 20 minute noodling around songs, bored.
I understand that point too, but I love that too.
I love, I love jam bands that know how to jam correctly versus a band that's like, Oh, it's one guitar player and three to four other people who are just like supporting them.
But
Like it's not like he's, I mean, that to me, he's not big enough to be overrated.
I think he's beloved by people, but he's not like topping the charts.
And no one's saying like Michael Bolton is my inspiration.
He is the reason why music is the way it is.
I think, I think you just don't like Michael Bolton.
I think people do
I didn't like him when I was in colleges.
Yeah, understood.
Sheila Rosenberg Seidel says kiss.
Okay.
Another one for kiss.
And then hers might be your sister, Sarah Jean says.
Take that back.
Okay, uh, this is Nightlight with Beachwaba and Greg Bach.
There are fighting words on the text line and on social media.
We are coming right back with our pal and civic media colleague, Mr. Stuart Waddles, who's going to talk music and make the popcorn pick of the week.
It's the civic media radio
This is Night Light with Pete Schwabba and Michael McDonough.
Joining us to make that pick is a guy who rolled in a little early so we could continue our fun talk about overrated bands.
He covers news for Civic Media in southeast Wisconsin and does a bang up job.
Mr. Stewart, Jay Waddles.
Hello, fellas.
is Greg.
How can
I got it.
Oh
I get that
Where's the chink in the armor with Springsteen?
That's my like, I can say that about Dylan because I don't believe that about Dylan.
I do believe that about Springsteen.
And when you, whether it's pop hits and anthems or reflective, you know, Nebraska or Devils and Dust, I mean, there is no
Like you said, Bob Dylan, he's an acquired taste.
Like Willie Nelson.
He's bad, but like, he's good.
Like, there's something there.
With Springsteen, I don't even get that that bad is there to like.
I got nothing with Springsteen.
Like, again, give me Johnny Cougar all day long.
We're going to continue this conversation with George A. Waddle, Civic Media's very own reporter of Southeastern Wisconsin here talking music, giving us the popcorn picks of the week here on Nightlight with Pete Schwabba and Greg Bach.
Don't go anywhere.
You're listening to us on the Civic Media Network.
Stay tuned.
Stay informed.
Stay close.
welcome back
I get goobers at the dollar store and bring them into the theater, which is so weird because the theater used to be the only place you could get them.
Right.
Raisinets, though, you can count on the raisinets to be there.
They're still there.
And so what is your favorite snack?
Is it popcorn or is it one of the your candy choices your slurpee?
I like
It's a victimless crime, really.
I mean, I guess the art, you could say if you're not paying, it's the writer, the director, they're not getting there, but you're not going anyway.
You're either going to sneak in or you're going home because you can't afford two movies when you're a kid anyway.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Stuart where do you like where do you sit with like when you watch a movie at home and you and I have discussed bluey before you introduced me to that kid show and I don't have kids at home anymore and it made me sad that's how good the show is but what do you what do you do at home do you have a different snack preference at home
typically it's a movie night on Friday so we get get some pizza pizza pie from a local eatery and somebody gets a pick either the oldest the youngest sometimes mom and dad gets the pick
So that's when we introduce kind of the older stuff that or stuff that, you know, they wouldn't pick that I think that they would like.
So that's kind of spread it out.
we're still so when mom and dad get to pick, there's still guidelines on what you are going to watch now.
Is there a movie that you, as a movie fan, can't wait to show?
Let's just say you're oldest at first, but there's a movie that you're like, I watched this when I was a kid, I shouldn't have, but I can't wait to show them.
Is there a movie for you that's like that where you're like, hey, don't tell your mom, or just don't tell anyone, we're gonna watch, I'm just catty-shack, just picking that one out of the blue.
They've seen bits and pieces of it, but it's all sitting right there in front of them now.
And why is he sitting with his mom?
There's some weird questions that come up.
I saw one of the, like the, uh, one of the early sand people and she did not like that at all.
So we haven't gone back to that one
Oh, great.
And it's a hard cut.
to a naked girl in the pool on some guy's shoulders and I almost tear an ACL looking for the remote and I can't find it.
And I'm like, what am I doing?
They're
Um, all right.
So I think we should probably do folks.
Stuart wattles is here.
He's going to make the popcorn pick and just, uh, mo we are moments away.
He covers news for, uh, southeast Wisconsin here at civic media, uh, at WRJN and in Green Bay.
And it's, uh, it's always fun to hear your voice up here in the northeast of Stuart.
I'd like that arrangement.
Very nice guy.
I had a I had a friend who worked for common control So they put out a cd rom.
That's how far back this is like 93 on the cover of the cd rom adam sandler peach wabba So my kids see that and again my buddy was just throwing me a bone.
I wasn't at he was already on saturday night live I'm still working the clubs, you know, but my kids see that
And they're like, whoa, your careers went different ways.
And I'm like, no, he was already famous.
That was just a friend putting me on there.
So I had to dig my way out of an Adam Sandler hole for the last 25.
You're coming out on a booth.
It hurts.
I thought that was great, but Didn't think you need all the celebrities that had and it didn't need like if you look at the the himself or herself lineup on the credit You're like wow, you know a lot of people and they all showed up for this my goodness gracious
Speaking of overrated on the stream, oddly too.
Says rolling stones another one stones and also zephyros burgers and ashkosh theater best in ashkosh if you're there You have a theater experience.
That's great stuff Um, so what else can we put a bow out?
Can I I'm going to squeeze in my slash story here?
I think because we've got story.
I'm gonna I'm gonna tease this and we'll do this and this isn't even
really worth sticking around for a tease.
Jay Wattles, you hear him on this network.
He does outstanding work and I am proud to call you a friend, sir.
Great stuff tonight.
Thanks for having me on, guys.
Always.
All right.
Check it out, Greg.
I am going to tell my slash story.
civicmedia.us.
My name is Greg Bach and across the state is Mr. Pete Schwabba.
You are listening to us on the Civic Media Network.
We appreciate you being here tonight.
It's a Thursday evening or as we adults call it.
Friday Eve.
And if you want to be part of the conversation, you can still get in your last thoughts on the most overrated rock star or band by calling or texting 855-752-4842-855-757.
Leave a comment on the live stream.
And I think that was Kenny Loggins wrote that.
I want to say, Greg.
Let's you talk.
I'll look it up.
You go to the Google.
So my slash story really quickly is just I was a student at DePaul I was a freshman and I walk into this sports bar called Kelly's Was right on the campus and there's all these you know dudes with the Paul jackets and they like want to be athletes and athletes and then there's slash
Sitting at a table with a cheeseburger.
He had the hat on the glasses.
He's slashed and he said Kelly's bar And I'm like, I'm pretty sure that's slashed and these guys are no way what would he be doing in Lincoln Park or in Chicago, you know And as it turns out we found out like the next day guns and roses rented an apartment on the DePaul or near the DePaul campus because they were trying to stay clean Making an album.
He is a tiny human being, but he, I mean, you know, he, the staff did a good job of keeping people away from him.
Cause he was with his family, but he was still very gracious.
People wanted like, you know, a thumbs up or a high five.
He's just very, very nice.
And I really appreciate it.
But I was just like, that's Joe Perry.
That's what I, that was when I realized that, you know, like, Oh wow, the celebrities are not, they're, they are like us, but much shorter.
Before we get out of here really quick, Mike from Spring Green is on the phone and wanting to talk about the question of the night.
Mike, good evening.
What's
going on?
Hey,
Hey, how you doing?
What about you two?
I think they're overrated.
I just found.
All that dramatic singing, and it all sounds the same to me.
I mean, I'm a musician, so I should have a little bit of insight on this.
It's just, I don't know.
If something else, I'll change channels.
It's just like the yarn, you know.
But you should never
Great to hear from you.
Appreciate you calling in tonight.
Absolutely.
Tom from Hartford says, I like Elvis Christmas and gospel stuff.
That's a great point.
And Matt from Eau Claire says, girls just want to have fun.
Album 1984, Nirvana, never got it.
It's OK.
That's it.
That's fair.
He says, Zep is the best.
Big period.
They did every genre existing at the time.
Hotdog is better country than most of that dial today.
I think he's on fire there, dude.
Okay.
All right.
People love staying in, but man, send a text, make a call, go out to lunch, find someone you love.
and tell them that you love them and make some friends, have a good time.
That's about it for me.
That's all I want.
Pete, any thoughts?
All right, on behalf of Pete, I want to thank Dominic.
I want to thank Tucker.
I want to thank traffic and engineering.
You are all great.
We talk into operational microphones because of you.
Thank you to everyone who called texted, left a comment on the live stream.
I want to thank Peter.
No, Peter's not his name.
His name is not Peter.
It was Patrick, Patrick Dahon
Don't forget tomorrow.
Oh, we're talking to the former lead singer of Chicago, Jason Sheff tomorrow.
That's fun.
Gene Crichton from the Planetarium.
They're turning 60, so don't go anywhere.
They're still programming, happening, and we'll see you tomorrow.
On behalf of everyone, have a great night.
Pete, take us out.
Good night, Wisconsin.
Have a great night, folks.
