Announcer

Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.

This is Night Light with Pete Schwabba.

Your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.

And now, a guy whose house has an actual wiggle room, Pete Schwabba.

Hey, hey!

Pete Schwabba

That's me!

Welcome to nightlight everybody.

Oh, what a fun show.

I am coming to you live from one of my favorite cities in the world Not like my other one of my other favorite cities in the world Green Bay, but tonight we're live from Madison here at nightlight Conrad is holding back the holding back holding down the fort back in Green Bay You welcome back Conrad you were on vacation.

Oh wait, you were here last night, right?

I think so

Was that me?

Was your brain still in Florida last night or

Conrad

were you like... No,

Pete Schwabba

because...

Conrad

Happy to be back.

It wasn't in Florida because, you know, you stuff outside and it's not even close, so...

Pete Schwabba

Oh, kidding.

Today was ridiculous.

But it's good to be... It's good to have you back even though we spent one night together as pals and now here I am in Madison and you're back in Green Bay.

You know what I meant to tell you about a week ago I was there because I did the show from there even though no one was in the building.

Two times the lights went off not like when they're scheduled to like way before they should have gone off and It's scared to live in daylights out of me

Conrad

see and it's good.

It's gonna do that tonight while I'm here by myself I already know it's gonna do that and you know if you don't hear from me if I take a long powder, you know what happens

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, I'll know what happened.

You got Dan Marcus on speed dial.

I assume the station manager.

He can bail you out.

He could be there fast

Dan, I'm scared.

Come back, come back to work, Dan.

So we got a great show tonight, folks.

We're here, I'm in Madison because of this screening of my film, The Godfather of Green Bay.

It's the 20th anniversary screening sponsored by the WMDX, I would say morning show, but they've been on in the afternoon lately, John and Gordy, also sponsored by Doundren's Distilling of Cottage Grove.

We are...

It's all happening tomorrow night at the outward music hall here in Madison in the outward neighborhood the beautiful outward neighborhood

It's just gonna be a blast.

The Baudin's did the music.

It's Tony Goldman, Lauren Holly, Tom Lennon, Lance Barber.

And it's a fun movie.

I've got Lauren Holly on the show tonight who's gonna talk about it in just a few minutes at 535.

We'll take a little trip down memory lane.

Tickets are only 10 bucks.

A dollar goes to the, of every ticket goes to the Dane County Humane Society.

So basically the story is a

Comedian gets a chance to be on the Tonight Show, but he has to go to a roadside, a raucous roadside bar in Wisconsin to audition.

The film came out about 20 years ago, and we have a little cult following.

It was a lot of fun.

Just a little indie film, but it came together nicely with a great cast, and I'm thrilled that Catherine Lake and...

the guys here at WMDX and Downlands Distilling have gotten behind this screening.

Hope to see you tomorrow night.

But Lauren will be here at 5.35 to discuss the film and the producer of the film, Brian Edding, will be here in the seven o'clock hour, hour number three.

Other than those two, check this out Conrad.

Are you ready?

I'm ready.

Bring it.

Orly KG will be here from the Mad Moms.

Is it bad?

It's Bad Moms of Comedy.

Yes.

It's not a very flattering word in front of the word moms of comedy.

Orly will be here.

She's very funny.

They are performing close by in the Madison area in the next couple nights.

We'll give you all the details when she is here at 6.05 or about 6.10.

And then Conrad, we've got a celebrity chef on the show.

We've had a lot of chefs on the show, not a celebrity chef.

There's a big distinction.

Conrad

Yeah.

Pete Schwabba

Very exciting.

Chad Visker will be here and he's on a very cool show.

This drops tomorrow night on Fox.

It's the next level baker.

It's kind of a spinoff of next level chef with Gordon Ramsay.

It's a Fox show and it's a great show.

They're doing a mini series for holiday baking and Chad is a native Wisconsinite.

He created pastries by Chad and he will be on the show as well.

So a lot of fun.

Great guest tonight.

And what else Conrad, what am I missing?

I don't

Conrad

think I'm missing anything.

Pete Schwabba

Lots of stuff.

Aaron Roberts

We got a

Pete Schwabba

big

Aaron Roberts

show.

It's a great show.

I actually have something to share, something I just realized.

Oh, Aaron Roberts is in the house too.

Folks say hello to Aaron, everybody.

Hello to Aaron, everybody.

Hi, Aaron.

So last year on Nightlight, on my birthday, I called into the show and reviewed the movie Hot Frosty.

And tonight, it's the day after my birthday.

and Lauren Holly's coming on the show and she has a prominent role in the movie Hot Frosty.

Pete Schwabba

Oh my

Aaron Roberts

gosh.

I just realized she plays like a secondhand store owner who gives a magical scarf to the protagonist.

Pete Schwabba

What was your review of the movie, Erin?

I can't remember.

It's been a year.

Tell me please.

Aaron Roberts

It's fun.

It's not good.

Okay.

And if you all the details are really funny, like you can tell all the snow stuff is just foam.

Because like they'll nudge us no sculpture and it'll like the whole thing will move as one piece.

Oh my gosh But it's it's just a goofy movie where you fall in love with this with a snowman Yeah, it's a fun time.

Pete Schwabba

Listen buddy, you know, I'm a fan You know, I'm a zombers fan, but I will be damned if I'm gonna sit here and let you disparage a Lauren Holly movie dammit Was she good in it?

Yeah.

Yeah, she's great.

She's so awesome.

I now I have to see this movie.

Conrad

I saw it too.

SPEAKER_??

Oh

Pete Schwabba

What this is kind of weird I saw the grown men scene.

Okay.

What was your take?

What was your take on?

Conrad

You know learn how Holly did great the rest of the film I was like, what am I watching most of the time?

I

Aaron Roberts

got I hope people don't say it was

Conrad

fun

Aaron Roberts

Yeah, hot frosty to me Was like a self-aware hallmark movie

You know, it made fun of itself a little bit, which I appreciate.

Oh,

Pete Schwabba

that's

Aaron Roberts

very

Pete Schwabba

cool, actually.

I'm not gonna lie.

It sounds like kind of an adult film with a weird fetish angle to it.

A little bit.

Yeah.

Conrad's giggling like, that's why I watched it.

It's

Aaron Roberts

not at all what I

Pete Schwabba

thought it was gonna be.

Oh, that's funny.

I love when Zommer sticks around.

It's like, we have like a nutty morning zoo thing going here, you guys.

Do you know that?

Did everybody leave like all of a sudden like what is happening?

I had two guys here and now they're both.

No, we're here.

We're here.

Aaron Roberts

Wow.

Are

Pete Schwabba

you nodding which doesn't really translate from radio?

Hey guys, it's a big first of all I'm gonna tell you guys all about the text-to-win contest our multi-state grown-up giftless text-to-win contest I'm gonna give you all the details in just a couple minutes and the keyword And it's not too late to get in on giving Tuesday.

I know it's Wednesday, but you can still

Give all you have to do is go to your local civic media.

However you stream civic media or listen to civic media, go to your local radio stations website in Madison, Wausau, Waukesha, Wisconsin Rapids, Richland Center, Oshkosh Green Bay, Hayward or La Crosse or the tap.

I love saying that in Eau Claire and go to the website slash give.

And, you know, click on the giving banner.

It's great.

It's a great way to help local nonprofits, people that really need the help are going to get it too.

And they're people in your area, so it's all about community.

So check that out.

It's not too late to give.

So please, if you can spare anything and want to help out a local non-for-profit, highly recommend it.

So we've got a big weekend.

The Bears and the Packers are playing.

And this is kind of funny because my movie,

To make it even worse on the main character, played by me, I made him from Chicago, playing small town Wisconsin on a Bear Packer weekend.

And he's from Chicago.

He doesn't even care about football, but he's from Chicago.

And the locals chastise him.

And he's auditioning for the Tonight Show in front of all these Packer fans who think he's a big Bear fan.

So it's kind of serendipitous that the screening is tomorrow night at the Atwood Music Hall and the Bears and the Packers play.

this weekend.

It couldn't be any better.

Conrad, thoughts.

Conrad

You know, the one thing that irritates me about this game is that it wasn't flexed to 720 because of how

Pete Schwabba

great the

Conrad

one and two weeks was though.

Yes, but a Saturday.

So it's a little weird.

But like, oh, that's a Saturday.

Okay.

It's weird that they this is one of the I think this is the best matchup of the week.

And instead, they got the chiefs and the Texans at 720.

I'm like, what?

Why do we need to see another chiefs games?

I know

Pete Schwabba

I can't on

Conrad

Sunday night

Pete Schwabba

football.

bugs me about the chiefs more than anything is the way Patrick Mahomes walks back to the huddle.

I know that's a petty thing.

It's like it's as disturbing as Andy Reed saying, give me some more of those nuggies and his fingers, his big

Announcer

sausage fingers,

Pete Schwabba

crawl across the table.

Announcer

I

Pete Schwabba

don't know.

But I agree with you.

Let's do more Bear Packard talk, but here's what I'm thinking.

Let's get to our question of the night before we do the keywords so we can get a few texts and not have them so mishmashed.

So I think it is time, ladies and gentlemen, live from Madison here at Night Light for the question of the night.

Let's talk about the question.

Okay, question.

Question.

Conrad

Question.

Pregunta.

Question.

Aaron Roberts

Question.

Conrad

Okay, I have a question.

Questions.

This question.

Domanda.

Question.

Question.

Pete Schwabba

What is a Christmas Carol or song you never need to hear again?

Or when you're hoping not to, somehow you can avoid hearing it up until Christmas this year.

Give me a Christmas Carol or a Christmas tune that you hope not to hear.

We touched on this last week, but I want to get into it and I want to hear what people have to say.

It's that song.

I don't even know what it's called, but it's, we need a little Christmas right this very minute.

And there's this like, anxious, need a little Christmas right this very minute.

It's like not, it's not romantic or it's not nostalgic.

It's just like, gross.

I don't think I know that song.

Oh, you, dude, you've heard it.

Conrad

Yeah, I've probably heard it and just, you know,

Pete Schwabba

I walked it out of your mind.

You

Aaron Roberts

know, I don't know if I've heard that one.

Pete Schwabba

You guys, come on.

I'm going to find out the title during the break.

We'll play it because

Aaron Roberts

I'll

Pete Schwabba

take one for the team.

It's probably, if you go into Google and type, need a little Christmas right this very minute, which is weird.

Aaron Roberts

There's one that I really don't like.

It's I'll be home for Christmas, but specifically the Camilla Cabello version because she doesn't say I'll be home for Christmas.

She says, I'll be home for Quizmoise.

It doesn't even kind of sound like Christmas.

Why do you say it like?

Quizmise is what it sounds like.

Is it an accent or something?

I don't understand.

I'll find it.

That is

Pete Schwabba

awesome.

Let us know what tune you don't need to hear this Christmas season, 855-752-4842-855-75 civic.

You can also text us on the app.

or if you're watching the radio, text us, drop us a stream comment at YouTube, X or Facebook.

And ladies and gentlemen, this is so fun.

I love when we do these contests.

It's the Civic Media grownup gift list, multi-state text-to-win contest happening through December 12th here at Civic Media.

We give you a keyword at specific hours.

All you have to have is the...

app.

It's that simple.

Most of you probably already have it, but if you don't have the Civic Media app, be sure and download it because I'm going to give you a keyword in just a minute here and you text it in on the app and you are eligible to win 200 bucks just for texting.

You can't beat that.

And you will automatically be enrolled for three grand prizes, a brand new snowblower, a stainless steel cookware set, or a portable air conditioner.

And all you have to do is text in the keyword and

You know every hour you're eligible you can play too.

There really aren't any strict Conrad you can't play.

Conrad

Yeah, unfortunately

Pete Schwabba

and bombers you either Well, I shouldn't you shouldn't play.

Why you're a nice guy

Aaron Roberts

No, I can't I was just saying well, I shouldn't but I probably could text in

Pete Schwabba

This is might not go well.

This is Zaren bombers

texting in the keyword.

But it's a fun contest, folks.

We love our text-to-win contest, the grown-up, gift-less, multi-state text-to-win contest.

And tonight's keyword, or at least this hour's keyword, I should say, is enter, E-N-T-E-R.

E-N-T-E-R, enter, text that in on the app, and you are all set.

Good luck, everybody.

So we've got some texts coming in already for the...

Al in the 262 says, all I want for Christmas is you.

Sorry, it's terrible.

Man, I really don't agree with that.

But you know what?

Everybody's entitled to their opinion.

We did touch on that the other night.

Didn't we, Zomers?

I think

Aaron Roberts

so.

Yeah, it is divisive.

But it is very divisive.

Pete Schwabba

And I don't.

I understand like maybe it's not for me or you like older songs, but I don't get how.

People hate it.

It's crazy.

All right, we've got Lauren Holly tonight, folks, celebrity chef Chad Visker, and a great question.

And I just let you know what the keyword is, and those texts are rolling in.

Keep them coming, folks.

We're coming right back after a very short break at Nightlight.

It's Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media radio

Conrad

network.

Unknown Guest

It's not

Pete Schwabba

it's not offensively bad It's just slightly unsettling.

Hey, this is Beach Wabbit and Nightlight.

Welcome back folks.

We're talking Christmas music

Cuz that's our question of the night.

What is your what is a Christmas song or Carol?

You don't need to hear this season and that was mine.

I don't know.

What do you guys think about that tune?

Beach Wabbit

It wasn't terrible

Zomers

But yeah, I agree just maybe a little bit more frantic than you want for something.

That's like most Christmas music is pretty chill.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah Yeah, okay, that's fair.

All right.

My other one and Conrad knows this is the dogs barking jingle bells.

Zomers

It was supposed to

Pete Schwabba

be

a novelty in like 1979.

It's not one for the ages.

And it's either iHeart or one of those outfits has their Christmas music.

It's like in the rotation.

I'm like, pull that out.

Nobody wants to hear that.

Even dogs are offended when they hear that song.

Come on.

It just doesn't make

Beach Wabbit

any sense.

You know,

Pete Schwabba

you love the

Beach Wabbit

dogs barking your happy birthday song and the

Pete Schwabba

jangle

Beach Wabbit

bells.

You know, you love it.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, I haven't forgotten about that.

Alright,

Zomers

so you found that other song too, Zomers?

Yeah, the Camilla Cabello version of I'll Be Home For Christmas, which gives us a verse.

I appreciate that it has a mariachi band.

Okay.

So what has that?

I like Feliz

Unknown Guest

Navidad.

Zomers

She says quiz-mise.

And it sounds like quiz-moist.

Also kind of a moist quiz, you know, but it sounds like that the whole song not just that one time every time she says it.

It's an intentional pronunciation

Pete Schwabba

What is the deal is it?

Zomers

Is it

Pete Schwabba

a lingual thing like part of a language that maybe it's like a

Zomers

term like She she speaks Spanish.

Yeah, and Spanish it's Christmas is not quiz mice And honestly

Pete Schwabba

Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliziano is one of my like

I went through a phase with that song where I was kind of annoyed by it, like maybe 20 years ago.

I love that song now.

I love the energy of it.

I think it's spectacular.

This is kind of funny.

Monica from Mount Horrib in the 608 says, I hate Christmas, but love Christmas music.

That's interesting.

She says, I don't like Mary.

Did you know?

Zomers

Oh, I don't like that one either.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah.

Mark from Prairie to Sac says, Need a Little Christmas would be one I could do without.

Thank you, Mark.

We're in cahoots.

Rosemary in the 715 says that, I don't even know what that, that eighth thing by Mariah Carey spelling.

Oh, okay, Mariah Carey.

Sure, I got it phonetically.

Can't stand all those riffs.

It is a device of song.

I don't know.

I like it.

It puts me in the mood.

So we were talking a little Bears Packers.

We'll talk a little more about this on Friday, because tomorrow we have kind of a highlight show, because I won't be here.

I'll be at that screening.

But you can still get in on the text to win that we'll still be playing tomorrow night throughout the show.

We're putting some, some greatest hits together for you for tomorrow night.

And then Friday, we'll probably hit on the game a little more.

But what a fun rivalry.

Like, Zomers, I think you were telling me you're not a huge football fan, but even casual fans.

kind of take an interest in this, don't they?

Zomers

Yeah, absolutely for when it's, when it's these teams against each other.

Absolutely.

What do you think?

Do you kind of have a prediction?

Beach Wabbit

You know, I think the Packers will win.

Pete Schwabba

Okay.

I hope so.

Going out on a limb there, really specific.

Beach Wabbit

It's just, you know, I think the Packers have really kind of shown up these last two games, just like their defense.

The defense has been playing stellar.

You know, I mean, they, they did pretty well against the Lions.

And I think our offense is in a whole new groove too, even without some of our players that are injured.

So.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah.

That'll be interesting.

I think it's going to be a fun game.

And I'm at an age where I love the rivalry.

Like, I want my team to win, obviously, but I really appreciate the rivalry and the tradition of it all.

Kind of like Mariah Carey's Christmas song.

I equate it to that.

It's the Mariah Carey Christmas Carol of sports.

No, are the Packers favored by, like, what, a touchdown?

Beach Wabbit

Honestly, I didn't look at that stat, but I can chat.

Pete Schwabba

I don't even know why, bro.

I'm not a betting guy, so I don't really... But that's what all the, like, the sports radio, they're always obsessed about the line.

you know

Beach Wabbit

yeah yeah i mean it doesn't really matter okay well on espn it says it's favored to green bay by 68 percent

Pete Schwabba

68 percent okay

Beach Wabbit

and it's at home i'm

Pete Schwabba

also that surprised about

Beach Wabbit

that but

Pete Schwabba

why you just said you thought they'd win

Beach Wabbit

i i i mean i do but i 68 percent is

Pete Schwabba

pretty big that's yeah all

Beach Wabbit

right

Pete Schwabba

Um, I saw this, uh, I think, I think this is funny.

This is ways to force yourself into the Christmas spirit.

Like, have you guys had years like that where you're just not feeling it?

I, I, I've had like five years ago, I just roughly five years.

I couldn't get into it.

And then a moment happens in your family or you see somebody down on their luck or something and you're like, all right, I should be grateful.

But these were interesting.

The usual suspects put your tree up and light your house.

Maybe that would get you in the Christmas mood.

Wrap a few gifts is number two.

That's a good one.

It's nice to give, puts us in the spirit.

Eat or drink something festive.

One writer said her family always made fish pie around the holidays.

Okay.

Beach Wabbit

What is that?

That sounds gross.

Pete Schwabba

I think I'll go with hot chocolate.

That's what I'll do.

Yeah, Cesar just buy some egg now.

I don't even heard of fish pie.

That sounds awful.

Listen, I like fish and I like pie, but I...

That's an unholy union, if I've ever heard one.

But go ice skating.

That's interesting.

You guys skate?

No.

Zomers

My

Pete Schwabba

ankles suck.

So not really.

Your ankles suck.

I

Beach Wabbit

fall too much.

Pete Schwabba

I've tried it.

And I usually just kind of hang out and try to look casual.

Like, yeah, I skate, but I'm just not out there right now.

And number five is watch your favorite Christmas movie.

That's a great one.

That's a Christmas vacation.

Yes.

Christmas vacation.

Yeah.

Home alone.

It's a wonderful life.

Whatever you get going, whatever works for you.

Lauren Holly is coming up after the news.

Very excited to talk to her.

Celebrity chef Chad Visker is here in hour number two in the Mad Moms of Comedy.

Orly KG is also here in hour number two.

And we're going to give away some tickets to tomorrow night's screening of the Godfather of Green Bay at the Atwood Music, Atwood Music Hall tomorrow night.

That's in hour number two as well.

It's Pete Schwabba in Night Lights.

So great to have you with me on the Civic Media radio network.

Welcome back.

I'm Pete Schwabba.

This is Nightlight.

It is so great to have you with me, folks, on this Wednesday night coming to you live from Madison tonight.

Tonight's question is, is there a Christmas song you hope never to hear again?

Let us know at 855-752-4842-8555, 75 Civic, or you can drop us a stream comment if you're watching the radio.

All right, you have another chance to win.

All right, you have another chance to enter the grown-up gift list, multi-state text-to-win contest here at Civic Media.

You could be a daily prize winner, 200 bucks in your pocket, that's not bad, or be one of three grand prize winners.

Or, and you'll be automatically, and you'll be automatically eligible for a grand prize, the Earth.

Or you'll be, and you'll be automatically eligible, shit.

Right now, this is exciting, folks.

I'm in Madison because tomorrow night, we're having this great screening of The Godfather of Green Bay.

It's the 20th anniversary screening sponsored by Doundren's Distilling, the WMDX Morning Show, John and Gordy, and of course, Civic Media.

It's going to be a really fun night.

Hope you can join us.

I've talked about it ad nauseam and had several cast members on to help promote the film.

And right now, it is my pleasure

to welcome Tonight Light for the first time, a truly fantastic actor with such credits as Dumb and Dumber, Picket Fences, Family Law, NCIS, and of course, the Godfather of Green Bay, the unbelievably talented Lauren Holly Let's Go.

Lauren, how are you?

Lauren Holly

I'm great, Pete.

How are you?

Was that an okay intro?

That was a really good intro.

I like that.

I'd like to get up every morning and hear that.

I

Pete Schwabba

don't

Lauren Holly

know.

It made my day go really well.

Pete Schwabba

We could send you a file.

Lauren Holly

Okay.

Pete Schwabba

Get your day off, right?

Hey, is there a Christmas Carol?

And by

Lauren Holly

the way, yeah, I was just going to say, I want to answer that question.

Pete Schwabba

Please.

Lauren Holly

Because it better not be Deck the Halls.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, wow.

You're sick of that one.

Lauren Holly

No, I'm not sick of that one.

That's like my son.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, that's so cool.

Deck the

Lauren Holly

Halls of Holly.

Pete Schwabba

Are you kidding me?

How did I not see that guy?

I think you told me that joke years ago.

I mean, put

Lauren Holly

this up with you.

That's

Pete Schwabba

awful.

I've lost a step.

That's awesome.

Thank you for sharing that.

And I want to say thank you to your manager who is very helpful in helping me find you to have you on the show.

I used to have all your contact info and I'm hoping you didn't change it because of me.

Lauren Holly

Well, now you know.

But I figured that enough time has passed

Pete Schwabba

that

Lauren Holly

I might be able to give you another chance.

I just wasn't sure.

Did you get the help you

Pete Schwabba

needed?

I'm all set.

Thank God for medications.

And I will not ask you to pal around constantly anymore.

I know that was kind of a what about Bob thing probably, but no, it's great to hear your voice.

Great to be connected with you again.

And we have this screening tomorrow and you were such a big part of that movie and finding you and casting you.

Like I told you before, it was just like a trip down memory lane and I'm finding all these pictures and all these people reminding me of these fun moments because, you know, like any movie you do, even as an actor, you watch it so much and then you don't watch it for a while.

So I would love to get your thoughts on what it was like filming this movie in Northeast Wisconsin over 20 years ago now.

Lauren Holly

Well, OK, first of all, I loved a movie.

I like never understood how it just didn't get there everywhere because I think it's really good and fun and I really liked it.

And it's funny because I think about filming that movie so much because I had like a core memory experience on Godfather of Green Bay.

Really?

Yeah.

I turned 40 making that movie.

and the night we were shooting at this like motel place yeah and it was late we were tired we were doing night shoe and all of a sudden someone was like oh my god look up and it was northern lights and i'd never seen him before yeah and i do you remember we all just laid down in the parking lot

Unidentified Participant

Yes.

Lauren Holly

And we're staring up at these northern lights and then somebody realized what time it was.

It was like just after midnight and you guys started singing happy birthday to me.

Pete Schwabba

Oh my gosh, that's right.

Yes.

And I was

Lauren Holly

staring at the northern lights having you sing happy birthday to me and it was so

amazing and I like just think about that all the time and recently there's been all these you know magnetic storms and whatnot and all these northern lights and it's so weird because I've been in these locations that have been would have been amazing to see them but it was like cloudy or whatever and all the time I'm thinking thank goodness I saw them we're making the godfather of Green Bay and then I quickly remember that we ended up in my hotel

Yeah,

Pete Schwabba

that was at the end.

It was like, with

Lauren Holly

many bottles of vodka, and my toddlers upstairs asleep with the nanny.

So, you know,

Pete Schwabba

there you have it.

That's

Lauren Holly

making movies.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, two things.

I lip-synced Happy Birthday to you, so you're welcome for that.

You didn't want to hear that.

And Lance shared that same memory last week, and it was very special.

And the vodka,

at the hotel.

It was the best Western in Marinette.

And by the time we finished filming, you couldn't buy alcohol.

So somebody, I don't know.

pulled a Sam Kinnison and rented a limo just so we could have vodka.

But we were, you and me and Dale, God rest his soul, and Brian were all in the hallway at the best Western drinking vodka.

And then the pool opened at like six a.m.

and we all went swimming and doing cannonballs.

Just a beautiful memory.

It was that whole shoot.

It was a

Lauren Holly

beautiful memory.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, there was all kinds of stuff like that.

I remember when you got there the first day,

You came up to me and you said, hey, Mike, my trailer.

Do you remember this?

You had a view of something that was not very pleasant.

Lauren Holly

What was that?

Pete Schwabba

It was a meat-packing plant.

There were like these dead cow carcasses or something.

Oh, my God.

Right outside your trailer.

Lauren Holly

Yeah, I think I've just suppressed it.

I was like, you know, like, I can barely eat meat.

I have to be in, like, denial.

So it was just like horrible.

Pete Schwabba

Well, it was so fun.

And do you have other than those, what do you remember like as far as actual shooting or the cast or a scene you did or, you know, a memory you have just being there because you were such a trooper.

You did have your three kids with you.

And I think that was the first film you had done in a while.

You took some time off.

Yes.

And

Lauren Holly

they were all little

Pete Schwabba

too.

Yeah.

Lauren Holly

It was crazy.

Pete Schwabba

That was crazy.

Lauren Holly

I loved it.

And no, I think I have various like flashing memories.

I have memories of like being in the bar and just laughing at Tom Lennon.

I remember the whole scene with Tony Goldwyn that we're like in a booth.

And it was, he wore that mullet.

Yes.

And I remember we practiced in the parking lot in Macarena.

Unidentified Participant

Yeah.

Lauren Holly

So much.

I was like a Macarena pro.

And the worst part was I loved doing it.

I was like, let's do another Macarena dance scene.

Let's do another one.

Pete Schwabba

It's really, really funny that you say that because Mike Siegel, one of my best friends who you met back during when we were filming, played

Tony or big Jake's driver eat a mustache and a mullet as well and He made a this great behind-the-scenes video.

It's like 15 minutes long It's on YouTube called Godfather of Green Bay behind the scenes and all you guys talk and Lenin's hilarious and Eric Price and Glanson Tony says great things and you were hilarious, but you were the best one at doing the Macarena because you're on

that video doing the Macarena, and you just said that, and I could tell you really liked it.

Yeah.

Lauren Holly

I got really good at that.

I probably couldn't do it anymore, but it was very fun.

It was very fun.

I want to see that video behind the scenes of Godfather Green Bay, what?

Pete Schwabba

Godfather of Green Bay behind the scenes, and it's on YouTube.

And it was like, I think Mike gave me a VHS or a DVD of it years ago.

And now it's out there for everybody to see.

And it's my kids have had a blast watching it.

And I had, it just takes you back.

It's really fun.

Yeah.

You, I want to say this, here's another memory I have that happened after this is very funny.

You and Brian Edding.

and me and I think your manager at the time went to Dan Tana's and we were eating dinner and having drinks and everything and it was then because part of your contract was you got to fly up there in a jet and

And then it wasn't until then, like a year or six months after filming where you said, by the way, you went into this whole story about how the jet was not there to take you back.

You're like, I get my three kids into the piper.

It's like a prop plane or something.

And I had no idea and I'm glad I didn't.

Lauren Holly

It was the scariest thing.

It was like flying a VW bus.

like that someone rigged some propellers on.

And it took us for, and it was windy

Unidentified Participant

out.

Lauren Holly

So we were going really slow and the pilot kept saying, this is because we're going in the headwind.

It was funny.

It was alright.

I'm glad you

Unidentified Participant

made

Lauren Holly

it.

Yeah, I would never forget.

But I remember too, I think I was like, drugged at a bar with you.

Pete Schwabba

Drugged?

Lauren Holly

Yeah, do you remember don't ask me why all of our stories have to do with alcohol?

I don't have a problem with alcohol.

I promise But we went to some Mexican place

Unidentified Participant

Yeah,

Lauren Holly

you and I like just have dinner talking whatever and we had I

I was supposed to be on the way to somewhere else, and we were just going to meet for like an hour.

I think we were like trying to put together a picture.

Oh,

Unidentified Participant

yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Lauren Holly

And we were just meeting quick, and I had one margarita, and then I couldn't get up to walk out of the bar.

And you sat with me in the parking lot for like three hours.

Oh my gosh.

You remember that?

Because I was like, I, something happened.

And it was before we knew all about that drugging stuff that people do to people's drinks.

Pete Schwabba

Oh my

Lauren Holly

god.

I think it happened to me that night.

What?

Yeah, I'm not even kidding.

I remember.

I just remember being so thankful that you guys sat with me because I was like scared to leave.

Pete Schwabba

I didn't know what

Lauren Holly

to do, like the whole thing.

Pete Schwabba

I

Lauren Holly

didn't feel right.

It was weird.

I felt just really, like, out of my mind.

Pete Schwabba

You know what?

I'm actually a big sweetie, and now I'm kind of mad that you changed your phone number on me.

See?

I'm talking with Lauren Holly, folks.

She is one of the stars of Dumb and Dumber, Picket Fences, and, of course, the godfather of Green Bay.

We are going to have more with Lauren in just a moment after this very quick break on Nightlight with Pete Schwabba.

Glad you're here.

Lauren Holly

Hey, this is John Legend, and you're listening to Nightlight with P. Schwabba.

P. Schwabba

Welcome back.

All right.

Let's go, folks.

We are talking to Lauren Holly, the star of The Godfather of Green Bay.

It's so great catching up with you, Lauren.

I just wish you could be here tomorrow night.

That would be so fun.

You were telling that story.

before the break about, you know, you thought somebody slipped you something and I waited with you.

And the TV show where we were pitching something together, how great of a TV show would that have been?

I remember we had a lot of traction at a certain place, but then an executive left or something, but that would have been a really fun TV version to do.

Lauren Holly

I know, I agree.

People make bad decisions in

P. Schwabba

this industry.

Indeed they do.

They do.

Let me ask you something.

You've been doing a lot of TV since the Godfather of Green Bay and obviously a lot of movies too, but like NCIS, Family Law, what do you prefer?

Movies or TV?

Lauren Holly

I like the hybrid now and I call it the hybrid to streaming stuff.

P. Schwabba

Yeah.

Lauren Holly

Because you know, it just, I don't know, it just feels more creative in a way.

I'm not sure.

There's like, it's a little riskier.

I

P. Schwabba

agree.

It's like hard to watch broadcast TV now sometimes because of the streamers, you know?

Lauren Holly

Yeah, it is.

I mean, I'm not even sure how much broadcast television I actually watch anymore.

That's the truth.

And it's probably a terrible thing for me to say because, you know, it's my bread and butter, but it's true.

I don't really use much anymore.

And all that means is that broadcast TV needs to start being a little risky or two.

P. Schwabba

Yeah, exactly.

Totally agree.

You've got a new movie, a couple new movies.

You've got, and I, this movie Ruby Road that I saw on IMDB Pro, it just sounds like a really heavy role.

I think you play a recovering cancer patient.

How do you like those roles compared to some of the more lighthearted ones you've done?

Lauren Holly

You know, it's funny because this the particular that role in whether it's called Ruby Road rust out Ruby.

I'm not sure It's It's it is light in a way.

I know that sounds crazy, but it's she is a My character and it's really a ball of energy and the the movies about Francis Fisher who is sick

and worked in the coal mines in her whole life and goes to reconnect with, you know, the people that she loved and in the economy that so many in the, you know, in the country are facing and whatnot.

It's a real sort of statement on the times.

And I play her sister and I work in a Dollar General and I love, you know,

I don't know, people always, a lot of people would always say to me, you play like fancy characters.

You're very fancy and I'm not.

And I really, you know, roles like this, I really love because it feels more like my unfancy self, I guess.

P. Schwabba

Oh, that's great.

That's so interesting.

You say that because I remember your first day on the set with me, I said, do you have any questions about your character?

And you said, no, you said, I grew up.

you know, around people like this.

I'm from a small town.

I think it was Geneva, New York.

And you were like,

Lauren Holly

I

P. Schwabba

totally get these people.

So I totally believe that when you say that.

That's fantastic.

It's

Lauren Holly

still my favorite place.

I live in Toronto now, and I'm only three hours from Geneva.

And I go all the time.

And my best friend of 52 years is there.

P. Schwabba

Wow.

So I don't think even when we were pitching stuff, I don't think you lived in LA.

So

I don't think you've lived there full-time.

Do you have an aversion to Los Angeles or are you just like the real

Lauren Holly

world?

No, no.

And now in my life, I'm actually in LA almost like a few months of the year.

Mainly in the wintertime to get out.

It's like a weather-related situation.

No, I guess it's just how life kind of took me and then it just became clear that it wasn't necessary really to be in LA as much anymore.

P. Schwabba

Yeah, that makes sense.

I ask every guest I have, basically.

We talk about movies and TV and comedy every night.

Lauren Holly

What are

P. Schwabba

you watching?

Anything you could binge watch before we let you go?

Lauren Holly

Let's see, what am I?

Okay, I have to be honest.

First of all, I'm a huge sports freak.

P. Schwabba

I remember

Lauren Holly

that.

I've been majorly involved in sports, watching sports.

I don't miss sports that much.

And I have a hockey game and a basketball game on the same time tonight, so I'm a little frustrated.

But I have a whole list on the clipboard of shows that I've been going through.

And the latest one I watched is all her fault.

And I'm trying to decide if I start the beast in me.

P. Schwabba

Hmm.

I haven't seen either one.

You're nodding, Dom.

Is that good?

Have you seen that?

It's really good.

Oh really?

Okay,

Lauren Holly

which one which one's really good

P. Schwabba

the beast of me.

Yep the beast Yeah, I

Lauren Holly

gotta check both.

Yeah, I'm gonna check it out and see I watch a lot of Sports documentaries and shows like face-off on Amazon Prime that takes two hockey players

P. Schwabba

Oh

Lauren Holly

nice and tells her story each episode.

I don't know.

I mean like a sports fanatic

P. Schwabba

That's fantastic.

So basically, you couldn't do the show live because you had a hockey game to watch.

That's what I'm

Lauren Holly

taking away from you.

SPEAKER_??

No.

Lauren Holly

The reason I couldn't do the show live is because I have ADR to do.

Because I just finished a movie and that's working into this slot right now.

It's fun movies.

It's called Broadtrip.

Yeah.

When does that come

P. Schwabba

out?

Lauren Holly

I think it's another spring one.

It's me and Sophia Bush and it's a mother-daughter road trip comedy.

P. Schwabba

Oh, oh my gosh, that's perfect for you.

That's

Lauren Holly

fantastic.

It's really fun.

P. Schwabba

I actually read for the daughter, but they said I didn't have the acting chops, so good

Lauren Holly

for Sophia.

See, that's what I mean, man.

That's why I had to take away my

P. Schwabba

phone.

Stop asking me to get you in movie speed.

You're

Lauren Holly

going to play my daughter.

P. Schwabba

It's not like a challenge.

You're fantastic.

It's great to be back in touch.

Thank you for taking a chance on me.

And Brian Edding and The Script, which turned into a really fun little film.

And a lot of it is because of you, my friend.

And I can't thank you enough for doing

Lauren Holly

the movie and joining me

P. Schwabba

here tonight.

Yeah, thanks so

Lauren Holly

much.

I hope people go see it.

I hope they'll have fun.

I think audiences love that movie.

P. Schwabba

Thanks, Lauren.

Have a great night watching hockey, doing ADR, all the fun stuff.

And don't be a stranger.

Thanks so

Lauren Holly

much.

P. Schwabba

All right, bye.

Oh, that's Lauren Holly.

All right, we are going to do the news and come back for act two.

And more, I got a celebrity chef coming up.

So stick around for that, folks.

And I'm going to tell you more about where you can give for Giving Tuesday, just because it's Wednesday.

Doesn't mean you can't still give.

But we are coming back after the news.

It's Peach Waba in Nightlight.

Pete Chwaba

Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.

Pete Chwaba.

behind folks.

Let's talk movies.

Let's talk TV, music and comedy and all the great things in life that make us happy and bring us together.

We got a fun hour, lots of show left.

It's fun catching up with Lauren Holly and hour one.

We talked to little Bears Packers, Conrad and I, at some point we have to talk chair company because I think

both of us

were pretty baffled at the end of that show.

So we'll get into that at some point.

Confused is

the word.

Totally confused.

We have a great question of the night.

It is a what Christmas song or Carol do you not need to hear this holiday season?

I Said need a little Christmas right this very minute the dogs barking jingle bells actually have to Conrad said, what did you say silent night?

Conrad (producer)

I actually didn't say mine yet What how did that happen well, I mean the dogs barking is an obvious one I could yeah, I mean I could definitely go without listening at my rest of my life

Pete Chwaba

Uh, but so can dogs, by the way.

Conrad (producer)

Yes.

Pete Chwaba

Yeah.

Conrad (producer)

You don't hear that either.

I'm going to say Jason Kelsey singing any Christmas tunes.

Pete Chwaba

Oh, yeah.

I'll take things that don't need to be said for a hundred, Alex.

Conrad (producer)

All right.

Well, yeah.

Does he do that?

I don't know if you heard that they do.

They've been doing it for three years now.

It's called the Philly special.

And it's Lane, Lane Johnson.

Some, I forget the other guy.

It's all the offensive linemen and they make Christmas music.

It all goes, you know, to charities and stuff, but Jason Kelsey, part of that is he shouldn't, he can't sing.

Pete Chwaba

Well, thank you.

Conrad (producer)

Thanks for that.

I just say, don't listen to it.

The other guys are good though.

Pete Chwaba

Done and done.

That's awesome.

Okay, well, so share with us, folks.

You can let us know at 855-752-4842-855-75CIVIC.

On the text line, let us know what song you don't need to hear.

You can also text us on the app.

Please feel free to give a like or a follow.

Always nice to to receive those.

Great to have you with me tonight.

We still got a ton of show coming up in just a couple minutes.

I'm going to introduce a bad mom of comedy.

This is so I love this.

It's a it's a comedy group but Orly KG will be here.

She is the head of the group and I'm going to ask her why that's bad but it will be fun.

They're performing here in the

Not too far from Madison, uh, very shortly.

So we'll, we'll get into all that with Orly in just a minute.

Brian Edding, producer, movie producer, Brian Edding will be here at 720.

And celebrity chef from the new show, it's a spin-off, actually, of next-level chef called Next Level Baker, uh, was Consonite, uh, Chad, uh, Chad Visper will be here.

Am I saying that right?

I don't even

Conrad (producer)

mind.

Visker.

Pete Chwaba

Visker.

Yes.

Chad Visker.

He's like a pastry chef extraordinaire.

And I can't wait to talk to him because pastries are my weakness, more than meat or pasta or fish or anything.

I'm very excited to talk to Chad.

And he is in this competition show.

There's only three episodes, and it's all month.

So we'll be rooting for Chad, and we'll meet him at 6.35.

But we've got also, we are giving tickets away.

For the Godfather of Green Bay screening, which is tomorrow night at the Atwood Music Hall a film I made 20 years ago.

This is our 20th anniversary screening It stars Tony Goldman Lauren Holly Tom Lennon Lance Barber and me Because I couldn't afford a big name, but it turned out well It was a lot of fun to do music is by the Baudin's and we're screening it tomorrow night at the Atwood Music Hall and a dollar of every ticket

Tickets are only 10 bucks, by the way, goes to the Humane Society of Dane County.

So it's for a good cause.

Come on out.

Laugh with us and say hello if you do come out.

But we are giving away three sets of tickets, and we are going to do that right now.

All you have to do, please make sure you can go.

That's all we ask.

The tickets are free.

They're in sets of two.

And the keyword, you just texted in a lot of keywords tonight, Conrad.

I hope people can keep them straight.

But there's no text to win this hour.

So this is all about ticket giveaways.

Yes.

The keyword is Conrad, I'm going to let you do this.

I rarely let you give the keyword.

Conrad (producer)

Well, thank you.

I appreciate it.

The keyword is green.

G-R-E-N.

No.

Wait, G-R-E-E-N.

That's why you don't want me to do it.

Last time.

Wait, that's

Pete Chwaba

a... Just green, folks.

Basic green.

G-R-E-E-N.

G-R-E-E-N.

g-r-e-e-n.

Text that in right now and Conrad will get your information and we will get you set up with tickets for the screening tomorrow night of the Godfather of Green Bay.

It should be a lot of fun and some big laughs.

Perfect way to kick off the holiday season and I look forward to seeing all of you that show up and want to say hello.

Okay, so we did that and we've got, all right, I think we're going to go, speaking of comedy, this is exciting.

I love this.

There's a show in Waterloo happening, and we are going to talk to the main, I think, the founder of the Bad Moms comedy group.

She joins us now from Chicago, but they're performing in Wisconsin.

It's a road trip.

And you should road trip to see them, because this is going to be a really fun show.

She joins me now over the stream, Orly KG.

Hi, Orly.

Do we have Orly?

Hello.

Can you hear us?

Oh, no.

I see her mouth move.

She's trying to say something.

We've got to get through to Orly sometime.

We'll figure this out.

But in the meantime, I will read a text if Khan wants to try to get Orly through here.

Sometimes we have issues with the stream.

Brian from the 608 says, I want to, pardon me, I want to hippopotamus for Christmas.

He says, never needs to be played again.

I agree, Brian.

That's like one of those novelty songs.

They're not supposed to be for the ages.

It was like a goofy idea, some guy recorded in his basement or something.

Tyler from the 608 says, was Lauren Holly on the series China Beach?

I don't think so, Tyler.

She was in Picket Fences and NCIS, and now she's in a show called Family Law.

I don't think she was on China Beach though.

Tom from Hartford says, movie equals Christmas in Connecticut.

Well done, Tom.

Thank you, sir.

Tom says, Holiday Inn, Bing Crosby, another great movie.

I think that's a song too.

I'm not sure.

How are we doing, Con?

Do we have Orly?

Conrad (producer)

I'm talking to her in the chat right now.

Okay,

Pete Chwaba

perfect.

Let me know.

Mark from Prairie to Sack in the 608 says, till I was about 14, I shared a bedroom with my three younger brothers and my mother read to us every night.

At Christmas time, she would read a Christmas Carol.

I still read and appreciate the messages it gives.

Mark, that is awesome.

And, you know, my kids are, I don't have teenagers anymore.

My youngest is 20.

And I still love to read those books at Christmas time.

It just never gets old, and that's a beautiful text.

Thank you.

Tyler from Wisconsin Rapid says, I will hate them all in about two weeks, except for Santa Baby.

Now, that's interesting because Santa Baby shows up kind of on the I don't need to hear again

list

either.

But Tyler likes it.

So we like it too, because we like Tyler.

Tom from Hartford says, anything Jackson five.

That's the one I think the Jackson 5 sings mommy kissing Santa Claus that gets pretty old I don't disagree with you Tom Rosemary from the 715.

Oh I already read that one and Mark Monica from Mount Horrib says I oh we already read that one too.

Oh, well, look at me getting through these texts Mark from We are oh here we go mark from prairie to sack and the 608 says I don't really hate any

Of the christmas songs one that amuses the adolescent boy in me though is chipmunks Roasting over an open fire Very morbid mark.

Thank you for the text.

John and Madison says for Pete Schwabba's show Paul McCartney's simply having a wonderful christmas time I like a lot of Paul stuff, but that just is discordant as heck.

I agree with you, John It just seems kind of thrown together I don't get it.

So I'm with you

Anna from Madison says, Hi Pete and Conrad, the Christmas song I Don't Want to Hear is Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney.

Look at that.

I like Paul, but this song sucks.

Thank you, Anna.

You and John are in cahoots.

How we doing, Con?

Conrad, like, don't bother me.

I'm working.

All right, you keep going.

I'm going to read some stream texts.

At least I'm getting caught up on texts.

Steve from Florida that's Conrad's dad says, I got to say the Christmas song I don't like is Grandma Got Run Over by a Ranger.

Yeah, that's another one.

I'm just like, you know, you hear it once.

It's like, oh my gosh, I can't believe they said that, but it just now you hear it.

It's like, you don't ever need to hear that again.

It's not sweet.

It's not good.

All right.

Keep those texts coming, folks, and we will read them on the radio.

Always more fun when you guys participate.

I think, how are we doing?

Con, do we have a friend, Orly?

Unknown Speaker

Hi.

Pete Chwaba

Orly, it is great to meet you.

I'm glad

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

to meet

Pete Chwaba

you.

How are

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

you?

Me and technology don't always get along.

I really apologize about that.

Pete Chwaba

Well, I'm in radio, and I'm not much better, so no harm, no fault.

Glad we figured it out, and I'm glad you're here.

Do you have a favorite Christmas carol or a least favorite Christmas carol?

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

Oh, well, I'm Jewish, so I got to say the Adam Sandler Hanukkah song is clearly my favorite.

We're over here, like said, and with lighting our candles, we're looking at your beautiful Christmas lights.

So

Pete Chwaba

that's our... Wow, OK.

All right, well, that's...

Either way, that being said, I'm glad you, that's the first Hanukkah song we've heard tonight.

So I'm glad to hear that.

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

Oh, good.

Pete Chwaba

And if

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

my computer was working, I would have heard it too.

Pete Chwaba

We'll send you a link to the podcast after we post it.

You'll be able to hear all of this.

All right, so tell us about the bad moms of comedy.

How did this group get started?

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

because I'm a crazy person.

That's how it got started.

So yeah, I started doing comedy four years ago.

I mean, trust me, I've been

Pete Chwaba

a

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

jokester my entire life.

I finally started putting it in real time.

And I noticed when I was at all of these mics in Chicago that there weren't a lot of moms in the audience.

And I thought to myself, Oh, these women need a night out.

So I started gathering all these mom comics and we started booking rooms and next thing you know we're on the Kelly Clarkson show and we've been at City Wineries in Nashville and St.

Louis and Chicago so we're just we're having a really good time having a lot of fun and we are not we're not mean moms we're just bad moms which is really like a play on words because we're all good moms but

Sometimes it's just really hard to be the best mom all the time.

Pete Chwaba

But are you worried people are going to show up and chastise you for being bad mothers?

I mean that name.

Go for it.

We are

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

ready.

Oh, trust me.

I have hecklers at home called Teenagers.

So like John read with his peace fingers.

I'm like, yeah, come on.

Try it.

Yeah.

Hold

Pete Chwaba

my

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

costume back.

I will hurt you.

Don't even think about it.

Pete Chwaba

You have a tough crowd in the living room.

What audiences can't throw anything at you.

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

Exactly.

Pete Chwaba

That's fantastic.

So what can we expect if people go out to Waterloo to see the show?

Tell us a little bit about what that night will be like for people.

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

Oh, it's going to be fabulous.

So we are going to swear.

Just so you know, we

Pete Chwaba

uh,

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

it is worth putting a bra on for and gents.

I promise you if you I'm there, you will not grow ovaries.

You will have a good time listening to women and female comics.

Uh, we're actually going to be in Waterloo on Friday, which we're very excited about.

And we're going to be at the comedy cabin in Jamesville on Thursday.

So we're nice.

Yeah.

Cause you know, Wisconsin in December, we're like, yeah, that's like Florida.

Let's do it.

Pete Chwaba

You know what?

I have a bone to pick.

First of all, can I wear a sports bra?

Or does it have to be an actual bra?

Well, if you

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

need one, I'm not going to deny your concept

Pete Chwaba

there, Pete.

Sadly.

Orly KG (Bad Moms of Comedy)

Yes, of course.

Pete Chwaba

We're going to do a very short break, and then we're going to come back and talk more with Orly.

We've got her, folks.

She's here, and she's doing comedy in Waterloo and Jamesville.

And we'll talk more about Chicago and comedy and Wisconsin, all things

that are fun in life.

We're coming right back at Speechwabba at Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

Unknown Speaker

Network.

Orly KG (guest)

All

Peach Waba (host)

right.

Welcome back, folks.

It is a Wednesday night edition of Nightlight with Beach.

While they're coming to you live from downtown, beautiful downtown Madison, just over State Street, I have to give a quick shout out.

Can you see the balloons?

Yeah, I can.

Yeah, there's a two there because it's our two-year anniversary and that Megan Samp, a shout out to Megan for putting that together.

This is very nice.

We talked about it a little bit yesterday with Bill Leff, who was our first guest and he was on last night.

So it's our second-year anniversary.

Thank you, Megan, for thinking of us and thank you all for listening for two years now.

So, all right, we've got a celebrity chef, Chad Visker, coming up at 6.35.

But right now we have a few more minutes with our current guest and we need to give her the proper attention and time because we overcame technical difficulties and she is here with us now and she's a heck of a dancer, Orly.

Well done.

Yeah,

Orly KG (guest)

right?

Peach Waba (host)

If you're watching on the screen, you saw

Orly KG (guest)

it.

Peach Waba (host)

Yeah.

All right.

So tell us you got Waterloo tomorrow night and then Gene's still on Friday.

Okay.

and then Jamesville on

Orly KG (guest)

thursday i'm bringing

Peach Waba (host)

a

Orly KG (guest)

whole bunch of amazing funny mamas from all over the midwest uh because those are the only ones i could get here in december all the ones from florida and north carolina are like yeah can you bring us in in june yeah

Peach Waba (host)

smart joys yes

Orly KG (guest)

so yeah we're gonna have a lot of fun and i i love the show i i love surprising men who come to the show because they're like that was really funny i'm like yeah just because we're moms doesn't make us non-unfunny so it's good

Peach Waba (host)

if any

It seems like being a mom and all the stuff as parents that we go through, it gives you more of a canvas, so to speak, for material with your kids, with your husbands, because we can be kind of dopey sometimes.

But how did you start this and how many moms are there in this group?

Orly KG (guest)

So I started with four moms.

I am up to 100 moms from across the country

Peach Waba (host)

that

Orly KG (guest)

we pick and choose for every show.

And so yeah, depending on flights and things like that.

So it's been amazing.

And not just that, in my opinion, so we have typical moms that are moms of children.

But we also have dog moms and cat moms.

And I try

Peach Waba (host)

to feed

Orly KG (guest)

them too, because I feel like women just keep getting passed up in this industry.

So I want to give them credit.

But on our Mother's Day shows, it's always the typical, that woman is in pain at home with her children.

Peach Waba (host)

Yes.

It's funny you say that.

That's interesting because when I did stand up in the 90s, and I think we started, I started at Zany's.

So I think we started at the same club if your bio is correct.

But, you know, there was a lot fewer female comedians then.

And it seems like now when my reels pop up, there's tons of female comics.

And they're hilarious.

Like, when did this happen?

When did that turn happen where all of a sudden there were a lot more women on the scene?

Orly KG (guest)

Can I be honest, Pete?

I think... Yeah.

um with covid a lot of women were trying that had been waiting to get their shot with producers on these shows said screw it i'm just gonna do it on my own and put it on instagram and that's and that's

Peach Waba (host)

how they

Orly KG (guest)

start getting popular and then then you started signing them but i think women have been passed up for a really long time just

for whatever reason and i'm not saying every woman comic is funny but

Peach Waba (host)

i can tell

Orly KG (guest)

you every bad mom of comedy comic is a scare

Peach Waba (host)

and some of them are even good moms believe it or not

Orly KG (guest)

you know we you know against our better judgment yeah i don't know how i did it i have two great kids

Peach Waba (host)

and when you yeah when you do these shows do people do you ever threaten to ground

Orly KG (guest)

anybody

No, this is the only thing is if you're gonna put a bra on, leave the house, buy a ticket, park the car, you're gonna have a good time at the show.

Where again, we're not the mean moms of comedy.

We're the bad moms of comedy.

So we're not gonna heckle you back.

We're not gonna roast you.

We're just talking about what it is like living, right?

Aging, what's going on in the world.

Peach Waba (host)

It's

Orly KG (guest)

funny.

So, you know, and that's my thing is I think it's, I can relate better to comics.

that our moms, because we're living a same experience.

If they're a 20-year-old and they're just talking about Pornhub and weed, I'm like, I'm kind of past that.

So I want someone to talk to me about stuff that I am living as well.

Peach Waba (host)

That's very well put.

Now, so my guest is Orly KG.

She is the founder of Bad Moms of Comedy, and they are performing in Waterloo, Wisconsin.

on Friday.

Sorry, I get my dates mixed up.

Janesville is tomorrow night, Waterloo is Friday, correct?

Okay, so check them out, but so.

You guys have been on big TV shows, too.

I saw a clip where you were doing comedy in front of Jay Leno.

Yeah, in the Kelly

Orly KG (guest)

Clarkson show.

Intimidating?

Was

Peach Waba (host)

I

Orly KG (guest)

sweating my brains out?

Yeah, yeah.

I was so freaked out.

And I was only doing comedy at that point less than a year.

So you know,

Peach Waba (host)

Pete, I was

Orly KG (guest)

like, all right, thank God I only have 90 seconds to do this.

But since then, it's suddenly blown.

But we've been featured on

women's world magazine and in she knows.com.

And we're just having a really good time.

And my thing is, is there are an amazing female comics out there and I can, I love giving them this stage time because they totally deserve it.

They're so funny.

Kristen Toomey, Lindsay Porter, Leah Berman, so many, Mo Good, so many incredibly good comics that are on this show.

It's awesome.

Peach Waba (host)

Fantastic.

Well, I'm happy for your success, Orly.

And I'm so glad you reached out and glad we were able to line this up.

So let's do it again soon.

Keep us posted on where you guys are performing.

And, you know, if I

Orly KG (guest)

don't...

A radio station that I didn't have to take a shower for.

I really appreciate it.

So when you sent me this link and you can see my face, I'm like, I'm sorry, this is what you're getting

Peach Waba (host)

today.

Our smell of vision is turned off.

So you're fine.

And it's a two-way street there.

But thank you so much, Orly.

Knock them dead Thursday and Friday.

And let's do this again.

This is fun.

Orly KG (guest)

That'd be great.

Mwah.

Have a wonderful holiday season if we don't talk before then.

Peach Waba (host)

You too.

Thanks so much.

All right.

That's Orly KG from Bad Moms of Comedy.

Check him out in Waterloo on Friday, Waterloo, Wisconsin, that is, and in Janesville tomorrow.

And we should have got some information about what if you Google the Bad Moms of Comedy.

All the information is out there because I did a little research earlier and they are a really fun group.

In the 920, I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus.

Take it away.

That's not a good thing.

Jean from Green Bay, that's a bad one.

John from Madison says, I know you read both our Paul McCartney texts to add to that.

John Lennon, so this is Christmas is so much better, even considering Yoko is seeing it.

I might disagree with the other John.

All right, we're coming back with celebrity chef from next level, Baker Chad Visker.

It's Nightlight with Peach Waba.

Let's do it.

Pete Schwabba

I'm Pete Schwabba.

This is Nightlight.

We are coming to you live from Madison tonight.

It is great to be here overlooking State Street.

Just a reminder, we are giving away sets of tickets for the Godfather of Green Bay Screening tomorrow night in the Atwood neighborhood at the Atwood Music Hall.

It's the 20th anniversary of this film I made years and years ago, 20, to be exact, or there about.

Tony Goldwyn, Lauren Holly, Thomas Lennon, Lance Barber, me and a host of Great Wisconsin and Midwest Actors and Music by the Bodines.

It's a tomorrow night, a fun movie to watch with an audience.

We are giving tickets away.

Hope to see you out there, folks.

A dollar of every ticket goes to the Dane County Humane Society, but...

If you win two tickets tonight, you can donate whatever you want.

So all you have to do, you don't even have to win them.

You just text in the keyword for free tickets to tomorrow night's screening is green.

If you text in that word right now, you could win two free tickets to the Godfather of Green Bay Screening tomorrow night at the Atwood Music Hall here in Madison.

Green, G-R-E-E-N Conrad.

You take note of how to spell green.

Okay.

I think I got it wrong.

Unknown Speaker

G-R.

Pete Schwabba

G-R-E-E-N, text that in now.

And if you can make it tomorrow night, we'll have tickets for you for the Godfather of Green Bay.

Okay.

Our question of the night is, what is a Christmas Carol or song you never need to hear again?

We've had quite an assortment and we will read your text in a little bit.

Coming up in hour number three is movie producer, Brian Edding.

We've talked to Lauren Holly.

We've talked to Orly K. G., who was fun.

And now I'm very excited to welcome my next guest.

This is his first time on Nightlight.

He's a celebrity chef.

He kind of was already, but now he's on this great show called Next Level Baker, a spin-off of Next Level Chef, one of Gordon Ramsay's babies.

And he is a very talented guy.

And I'm thrilled to have him on the show, Mr. Chad Viskr.

Hey, buddy.

How are you?

Hey, Pete.

Hey, guys.

Thanks for having me.

This is so much fun.

I mean, what a thrill for you.

I mean, you've already

Perfected the art of the pastry and you were a chef.

I assume you can make anything great What is what is next level Baker been like for you?

How did they find you Chad?

Yeah, so

Chad Viskr

some kind of cool Pete You know I have a couple different theories to how they found me I think I think the the official reason is my wife is very good at marketing so

Oh,

Pete Schwabba

nice.

Chad Viskr

You know, I'm terrible on computers, terrible marketing.

Luckily, my wife is really good at that stuff.

So, you know, I just make all the good stuff.

And luckily, she was, you know, tagging my stuff, doing all of the hashtags that were kind of in with the end.

Yeah.

Pete Schwabba

Good

Chad Viskr

team.

Some producers, you know, stumbled across it.

Uh, so we kind of did it backwards where, you know, hundreds of thousands of people applied where, you know, they found me and then I kind of went through the whole process after that.

Pete Schwabba

Wow.

That's pretty cool.

I thought you were going to say somebody took a bite of one of your pastries and said, who made this?

Get him on the show.

That's exciting.

Um, well, all right.

So what can you tell us so far about your experience?

I'm sure it's three rounds, right?

Yeah.

Um,

The first round or first show is three episodes.

It's like a mini series.

So is nostalgic chocolate treats.

Um, so you have to make them and it's three celebrity judges is Gordon Ramsay, Carla Hall and Candice Nelson.

How did, uh, how was that?

How was round one?

Chad Viskr

Oh man, Pete.

So round one was probably, well, so I have nothing to compare it to, okay?

It's because I've never experienced anything like this in my life.

But to kind of put it in perspective, you know, so it was filmed in Ireland.

So I had 18 hours to think about what the heck I'm getting myself into, right?

Yeah.

I'll be away from, you know, Milwaukee to Ireland.

And honestly, I kind of had like all the emotions leading up to it, you know, leading up to episode.

I was scared.

Yeah, I had been on TV, not at, you know, this magnitude.

Right.

You know, whether I was cooking or not, you know, I was very nervous for it.

And then, you know, throwing Gordon Ramsay, throwing Carlisle, throwing Candace Nelson, you know, I'm

Pete Schwabba

fine.

Chad Viskr

Yeah.

Gosh, can I turn around?

I don't even know if I'm qualified to do this.

But yeah, honestly, it's one of those things that they first reached out to me.

I thought it was a scam.

And then the whole process is so long and elongated.

And you go through all these different phases before you actually find out if you're on the show.

And honestly, when I was flying out to Ireland, I still wasn't guaranteed to be on the show.

Yeah.

So they flew 14 contestants out and only 12 actually made it on the show.

So, um, you know, to all turn.

But yeah.

So I really had all the emotions, um, more than anything, uh, you know, I would like to say I wasn't nervous, but come on now.

I was very scared.

Um, I'm very grateful.

You know, very grateful Pete.

Um,

Pete Schwabba

yeah.

Chad Viskr

In the same breath, I had a lot of time to kind of reflect on how grateful I was for my journey.

So

Pete Schwabba

yeah, I would imagine just being.

I mean, first of all, you're successful already.

You know, it sounds like you're, you're, you have a shop in Elkhorn, right?

Unknown Speaker

Yep.

Pete Schwabba

Okay.

Oh.

Oh, Khan, did we lose Chad?

Yeah, I believe so.

You did this, didn't you?

Sorry.

Let's see if we can get celebrity chef Chad Viskr back.

What a cool guy.

I love this.

And I have some great questions for him.

So we'll get him back.

We'll get Chad back.

In the meantime, on the stream, our friend Terry Barr says a pretty wreck.

Oh, the Pretty Reckless has their first Christmas album.

It's more on the metal side.

The lead singer is Taylor Momsen, who played Betty Lou Wu in the Grinch.

Oh, that's awesome.

Leave it to Terry to find awesome music.

Do we have Chad?

Chad, are you there?

I'm here.

Sorry, I don't know.

That's okay.

Fantastic.

So yeah, I would imagine like you've got, you've already got this successful store.

Your wife sounds like a brilliant marketer.

Like you don't need, you don't need a TV show, but it must have been a thrill.

Like even if you, let's say, and I don't, we don't know the results yet.

I know you can't share those, but if you're out on round one, people still know you've got that credit and you're just to make it there.

You, you know your stuff, right?

Chad Viskr

Oh, absolutely.

And you know, even

even going into the competition, I had the mindset already that I had already won.

So even

Pete Schwabba

in my

Chad Viskr

interview with the producers, I'm like, well, honestly, if I make it on already won.

So it's a matter if I want to stack a double win or if we just want to call it a win.

So because you're absolutely right, just getting out there and creating these connections with the other chefs and the mentors, that in itself is

you know, worth all the money in the world, right?

You can't put money.

You can't put a price tag on that.

So having those contacts, Chef Carl Laha, Gordon Ramsay in the back pocket, Candace Nelson, really winner or lose, it doesn't matter.

You have those contacts, right?

And in our industry, those contacts are so important.

So

Pete Schwabba

yeah, that's so cool.

Chad Visker is my guest.

He is a celebrity chef and one of the contestants on Next Level Baker, the spin off of Next Level Chef with Gordon Ramsay and

The show kicks off tomorrow night.

The first round will air tomorrow night on Fox.

It's called Baking Spirits Bright.

It's got a very cool and nostalgic holiday theme.

Can you just tell me, Chad, what was it like performing, you know, baking, whatever, in front of Gordon Ramsay and Candace and Carla?

That had to be intimidating, but you know your stuff.

How much did that affect you?

Chad Viskr

So it honestly, I felt at home.

Honestly, I felt at home.

I didn't feel intimidated.

I felt like Gordon was very calming in the kitchen.

I felt like Carla was very calming.

Same with Candace.

And I truly think it's because of my background in the savory kitchens.

So I'm very familiar with the yelling and the...

the coordinated chaos and how long on this chef, you know?

So I honestly, that's kind of where I, you know, I pitch my tent every day.

So it was weird, you know, because everyone's like, what the heck's wrong with you?

A lot of people are intimidated, freaked out.

But honestly, it's all, it's so subjective too, because it's like, what's your mindset going in?

Are you going to be offended that one of the best chefs in the world is giving you constructive criticism?

Or are you going to take it as it's supposed to be received, you know?

Pete Schwabba

Yeah.

Chad Viskr

You know, so it's, it's, and not everyone's like that, right?

Because it's such a raw thing, you know, because we are artists, right?

And we're putting our, our work out there.

So it's such a raw thing to be critiqued on national television, especially if you don't agree with them.

But for me personally, I'm, you know, I have the mindset why I always have something to learn, right?

Pete Schwabba

Right.

That's a great outlook.

I and I that's impressive Because I made a bologna sandwich for Gordon Ramsay once and he hated it and he tore me to shreds.

So I did had the little olives in it.

I thought I thought he'd be impressed but So talk about you mentioned the camaraderie with the other bakers

Yeah.

You know, I remember being around other comics and when I was younger, I was sort of like, oh, he's on that show.

I haven't been on that show.

It's a little more competitive.

And then you get older and you just truly mature and appreciate their craft.

Is it the same way with bakers?

Like when you talk to these people, it must be a thrill for you.

It must be invigorating.

Chad Viskr

Yeah, it's honestly, you know, I was thinking to myself when I was out there, like,

how, aside from culinary school, you know, you kind of see this dense population of, you know, food and baking enthusiasts.

But aside from that, like I haven't really been in a room with that level of professionals, you know, really ever in my career.

And, and just to be around them and, you know, kind of geek out with them was phenomenal because they're

They're just as nerdy as I am, you know, and they love it just as much as I do.

Like we still have a group chat that goes off

Pete Schwabba

nice,

Chad Viskr

you know And it's funny because sometimes I'm still in boss mode So they'll be like, hey, anyone got a good caramel glaze recipe, you know I'll send it to the group message and then I'll go over the methodology and be like, okay, this is what you do this this this they'll be like, come on Chad like That's

Pete Schwabba

great

Um, I noticed, uh, some of your representatives sent some clips out of the show.

You are the tallest chef by far.

Like you tower over the other contestants.

Is it harder to cook or bake when the food is that much farther away from you, Chad?

Chad Viskr

You know, I think I'm used to it.

So there's been, so my, my bakery, I intentionally have the, the tables a little

Pete Schwabba

higher.

Chad Viskr

It was such a whirlwind being out there.

I don't even know if I could, I could think, you know, cause you get out to Ireland and you have jet lag, right?

So I wasn't sleeping good.

Their food is so much more fresh than the food we have in America.

So it's not, it's not a good situation there.

You

Pete Schwabba

know, so I'm

Chad Viskr

not sleeping.

The food's running through me.

So like my back was hurting.

but I was dialed in, right?

So it's incredible why your body, they're going on two hours of sleep, you know, three hours of sleep when you really want something.

So-

Pete Schwabba

Right.

Oh, that's great.

All right.

My guest is Chad Biskar.

He is a, if he wasn't a celebrity before, he certainly is now.

He is from Next Level Baker, one of the contestants that airs tomorrow night on Fox.

We'll have a couple more minutes with Chad after this very short break.

It's Pete Schwabba in Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

Music Segment

Network.

I really wanna see you, Lord But it takes so long, my love My sweet Lord My love My love I really wanna know you I really wanna go with you

I'm gonna show you love that it won't take long, my love

Peach Wabba (host)

We're in the final few minutes here of Act 2 Tonight on Nightlight.

So great to have you with me, folks.

Hope you're having a wonderful evening.

And as we talk about Christmas songs and movies and pastries, my current guest is Chad Visker.

You can see him tomorrow night on Next Level Baker on Fox.

It's a three-part mini series and a spin-off of Next Level Chef with Gordon Ramsay.

Chad and I have been talking about the show.

Chad, tell us about your pastry shop.

Where can people go to experience flavor country?

Chad Visker (guest)

Yes.

So we are in downtown Elkhorn, you know, right between like Whitewater and Lake Geneva.

Peach Wabba (host)

Nice.

Okay.

Chad Visker (guest)

29 Northwest Wisconsin Street, just right downtown.

Really can't miss us, so.

Peach Wabba (host)

Love it.

You know, pastries are my weakness.

Like, I like, more so than, I said this before, meat, pasta, fish, whatever, all the stuff I like to binge eat.

I could give those up before I could give up a great pastry on the weekend with my coffee.

You know, like, are you, are they your favorite things to make, or do you just do it really good, and so you have to do it?

Chad Visker (guest)

Oh, wow.

You know, I would say a little bit of both.

Okay.

It's because I make so many different things at the shop and, you know, for like wholesale as well.

So like my favorite thing to make is probably laminated doughs, which is the base of so many good pastries like croissants, you know, it's the base.

So yeah, I mean, there's definitely an art.

to it.

And, you know, kind of one is never the same, which is really cool.

So yeah, I'd say, you know, a little bit of both, you know, I'm good at it, but I also just do it every day.

So

Peach Wabba (host)

were you a fan of competition shows before you were part of one?

Like, did you watch these shows like Cupcake Wars or any of these competitive food shows?

Chad Visker (guest)

You know, honestly, I'm so boring.

I got, you know, I got two kids.

I got two young kids.

I got a two year old and a eight year old.

So between that, you know, the business, me and my wife are lucky to, you know, give a hug and a kiss.

Hello, goodbye.

You know, on lots of TV show, you know?

But no, I've never, honestly, I've never really been, I've never really been into,

TV much is that weird like I've always been more like outdoors You know, honestly She'd make fun of me, but in college like I would literally out on the weekends.

I'd be

Peach Wabba (host)

That's so cool.

What do you think about like to me what I have seen some of those shows my wife and my daughter watched them occasionally and I would sit with them and you know

it seems so hard to, unless food is really bad, unless something is prepared and it's terrible, which I doubt any of these chefs on TV do.

How do you judge it?

Like I equate it to kind of like movies.

Like when I watched the Oscars, I'm like, how do you pick the best movie?

It's all subjective.

Is it the same way with food?

Chad Visker (guest)

It's so hard.

Yeah.

So I've actually been a judge in competitions.

And the same thoughts go through my head because it's like,

You're here judging, you know six incredible.

So this is when I was judging a competition, you know tasting six incredible dishes and it's like Beagles, right?

They're all amazing.

Yeah, you know, it's really like You know thoughtfulness for For a dish like how thoughtful are you when preparing the dish, you know, whether it's

Peach Wabba (host)

right

Chad Visker (guest)

You know savory or sweet because

You know, that's really what takes an experience to the next level.

That's number one on my list when I go to restaurants, when I'm eating something.

How thoughtful is the person that I'm seeing their art?

So, yeah, sorry, I'm trying to give them half the topic here.

No, that's good.

That's very insightful background.

Peach Wabba (host)

No, that's great.

Do you have a favorite restaurant?

Favorite Wisconsin eatery that is not yours that you could recommend.

Where should we go from the next level, one of the next level baker?

Oh, we lost Chad again.

I

Chad Visker (guest)

think

Peach Wabba (host)

he'll be right back.

The studio elves are at work.

Here he is.

Hey, he's back.

There he

Chad Visker (guest)

is.

Peach Wabba (host)

We've got about two minutes left, Chad.

And this has been so much fun.

Chad Visker (guest)

I asked you,

Peach Wabba (host)

pardon?

Chad Visker (guest)

I said, I know, so much fun.

Peach Wabba (host)

I know it would kill you to bring some pastries by sometime.

I would love to

Chad Visker (guest)

uh, Honestly, what?

Peach Wabba (host)

Listen, I if you didn't have this big show tomorrow night I would invite you to the outward music hall for the movie that we're showing tomorrow night and I would love to one of these days I'll make it into your shop in Elkhorn.

I just am such a sucker for great pastries Before we let you go What is there something because we talk about movies and TV and music a lot of the show?

Are you watching something you could?

you could recommend you and your wife or just you binge watching something?

Chad Visker (guest)

What am I binge watching right now?

Samantha, what are we binge watching?

I know I'm a big sports guy.

I'm a huge music guy.

So I like to watch older concerts.

I'm a big grateful dead fan.

I really like like folk music.

So yeah, I'm kind of like music.

I

Yeah, I'm really into Oatmeal right now.

I like Oatmeal a lot, Oatmeal and friends.

Okay.

But yeah, I mean, it's just a good show.

I would say next level baker, next level chef.

Come on, let's go.

Peach Wabba (host)

There you go.

Real quick, who are a couple of your favorite folk artists?

Chad Visker (guest)

I love M. Ward.

I love Kurt Weill.

He's formerly from the War on Drugs, really good artist.

Oh, I

Peach Wabba (host)

love the War on Drugs.

Chad Visker (guest)

Oh, I love the war on drugs too.

So Kurt bio was his was the guitar player for them in the early 2000s only a couple albums.

And then he kind of broke off and does his own stuff.

So yeah, m ward.

I love Oh gosh, put me on the spot here.

Who else do I listen to?

Peach Wabba (host)

Listen, let's pick up.

I want you I want you to come back soon.

So let's continue that part of the conversation next time.

Good luck.

We'll be watching Chad.

It's great to meet you and break a leg over the next few weeks on Next Level Baker.

We'll do, guys.

All

Chad Visker (guest)

right.

Thanks.

Peach Wabba (host)

You got it.

That's Chad Viskar.

Check him out on Next Level Baker.

It premieres on Fox tomorrow night.

DVR it.

Come to the screen and get the outward music all then go home and watch Chad.

That was fun.

All right, we're coming back for act three.

Brian and we'll be with us and we are going to do more text to win stuff.

It's coming up on nightlight with peach wabba on the civic media radio network.

Pete Schwabba

Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.

This is Night Light with Pete Chwaba.

Your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.

And now, a guy who writes checks his mouth can't cash.

Pete Chwaba.

Conrad

I love that line.

I don't even really get it.

It's just like, it's like every 70s cop show I've ever seen they say lines.

Don't write checks your butt can't cash.

Like, it's just like sounds tough, but it's not really totally.

Brian Edding

Well, I played that because I think that's you with pastries.

Conrad

Oh, man.

Don't be, don't be so flavorful.

Yeah, I don't even have a joke for that.

I love.

Pastries that was fun talking to Chad if you missed the show so far folks or an hour of the show go to civicmedia.us all our podcasts our catalog there Pardon me and some of the languages cleaned up So but check those out my interview with Lauren Holly is there my interview with chef Chad viscer from next level Baker Which you can check out over the next three weeks.

It was fun to talk to Chad and Orly KG was here from the bad moms

Still don't know about that name con.

What do you think bad moms?

That's that's risky.

I think it's cool.

I think mothers.

I think mothers are good By and large I wouldn't I wouldn't call them but anyway, we've got Brian edding coming up here in hour number three He'll be along at 720.

He is a movie producer and as you might have guessed he produced the film the godfather of Green Bay Pardon me, and I'll take this opportunity to make my last pitch.

We've been pushing this movie for a month con

And a shout out to Catherine Lake.

It was all her idea.

She and John and Gordy here at The Morning Show.

Had this idea for a charitable screening of the Godfather of Green Bay a film I made 20 years ago It's the 20th anniversary screening at the Atwood music hall tomorrow December 4th doors open at 6 the show starts at 7 John and Gordy will introduce the movie and then host a Q&A with me Afterwards we'll tell some fun stories about the film and the making of the film that we shot in Marinette My hometown and county and we shot some in Menominee as well

The activity the event tomorrow night is sponsored by Doundren's distilling and a dollar from each ticket sold will go to the Dane County Humane Society It's for a very good cause and there will be some laughs.

It's basically the story of a comedian who goes from California to rural Wisconsin a roadside bar to audition for the Tonight Show and Tom Lennon who was on the show last week is so funny in the movie he plays the local emcee

who's kind of a hack.

And when he finds out my characters from Chicago, even though I don't really care about football, he throws me under the bus and tells a room full of small town Packer fans where I'm from.

And the talent booker that tonight's show is there.

And it's he goes back every year to deer hunt in this bar that's owned by his friend.

It's a lot of fun.

And Tony Goldwyn is in it.

Lauren Holly, Tom Lennon, Lance Barber.

Mark Borechart from Milwaukee, Rob Martin, Eric Price, some great Chicago actors to Jeffrey Hogue, Steve Seger and Mike Siegel, Mike Toomey, Jimmy Pardo.

I'm probably forgetting something.

We had a phenomenal cast.

Tracy Thorpe is hilarious in a two.

So that's tomorrow night at the Atwood Music Hall.

Hope you can make it out.

We just gave some tickets away.

But tickets are only 10 bucks, and you can go to the Atwood Music Hall website or just pay at the door.

I think there's some tickets left.

So join us please if you can.

And if you do, come on out and say hello.

Brian is also at 720.

He is the guy that rode along with me for this adventure because I had no idea how to make a movie, but I did surround myself with very good people.

And he is a dear friend and like a brother and helped me through the process.

So, uh, Brian will be here at 720.

Uh, also, ladies and gentlemen, this is exciting too.

I think if you've been listening to the show, you already know this, but I'm going to tell you anyway.

Um, it's civic media's grown up gift list, multi-state text to win contest happening now through December 12th.

It's, uh, we got great prizes.

All you have to do is text in the keyword that I'm going to give you in just a few minutes.

On the app, you have to have the Civic Media app to play, text in the keyword, and you are eligible for a daily cash prize of 200 big ones.

200 bucks, I should say, not like 200K.

Do you think there's anybody listening, Con, that's like, oh my God, two mil?

No, 200 bucks.

It's 20 saw bucks.

But we're giving that away.

All you have to do is text in the keyword, and you are also automatically enrolled for our grand prize giveaway.

There are three great adult grand prizes.

One is a brand new snowblower.

Two is a stainless steel cookware set and three is a portable air conditioner.

So I will give you the keyword in just a few minutes here and hope you win.

That would be fun.

If you ever want anything Conrad, like if you ever entered something in one, like even a raffle or bingo.

Brian Edding

You know, so when I was in high school, my coach, my basketball coach, he has seasoned tickets for the bucks because he sponsors them or something like

Pete Schwabba

that.

I forget what it

Brian Edding

was, but.

But I didn't win but my dad I believe there's I can't I can't remember was my dad or my mom they entered into the raffle and won court side seats Nice, so I got to go to a game with my dad court side at at the Pfizer forum

Conrad

That's pretty cool.

I how old were you?

Brian Edding

I think I was probably around 16 or 17 Okay

But other than that, I can't remember anything.

You know, I've tried, like, you know, entering for tickets or something, but I've never won.

I don't know.

I'm not that lucky.

Conrad

Yeah, I don't really, I mean, I play stuff like that, but typically when I do like a 50-50 raffle, like at a high school event or something, I don't even, like, they'll announce it.

I don't even have my ticket.

I just expect not to win,

Pete Schwabba

so I'm not really

Conrad

following it.

It's funny you say that I, when I was a kid too, I was probably around that age, maybe 15 or so.

My uncle Joe, uh, got us tickets to a Bulls game.

Uh, it was, uh, pre Jordan, they were playing at the old Chicago stadium.

So they just put like a mat on the ice and then they put the, the floorboards or whatever

Pete Schwabba

for the

Conrad

basketball game.

Our seats were so good.

We were sitting on the ice and there was like a mat, it was like a green, you know, turf mat or something.

By the third quarter, I swear to God, I had hypothermia.

My feet were so cold.

And it's like, they're just so much better at what they do now, the way they do that.

So our question of the night, folks, let's do it right, Con.

Let's go to the question of the night and we will announce it once again and hope that you get in on the fun.

Let's talk about the question.

Okay, question.

Question.

Announcer

Question.

Pregunta.

Question.

Question.

Here, I have a question.

Questions.

This question.

Domanda.

Question.

Question.

Questions.

Conrad

All right.

What is it Christmas Carol or song you never need to hear again?

That's tonight's question.

And we've got a lot of text activity on this.

Between this and the keyword, we might be out of band with Conrad.

Civic media might be full.

Let us know at 855-752-4842.

That's our text line.

You can also text in on the app, which you should have anyway, if you want to play our awesome text giveaway here.

Multistate, Civic Media, Grown-Up Giftless Text to Win Contest.

And if you're watching on the stream, drop us a stream comment over YouTube, Facebook, or X.

And let us know.

Melissa from Willy Street in the 608 says, hi, Pete.

If I never hear that Paul McCartney ex-miss song again, it will be too soon.

Barf.

Melissa throws a barf in there, Conrad.

That's some strong... I don't like the song either, but man, that's pretty harsh.

Tom from Hartford in the 262 said, was anyone in his family involved in teaching him at a young age to bake?

I wish I would have seen this, Tom.

That's a great question.

He did start very early.

I know that.

He did share that.

John from Oshkosh and the 920 says all of them.

Bum bug.

It's okay, John.

Thanks for playing.

John in Madison says, I know you read both our Paul McCartney text.

Add that.

Oh, I already read that one.

Okay.

Nick from Marshall says Grandma got run over.

Another one for Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

He says, worst Christmas song I can think of, but I'm sure there are worst ones out there.

Yeah, I don't know.

Yeah, why does grandma

Brian Edding

need to get ran over?

It's

Conrad

terrible.

Yeah,

Brian Edding

like who

Conrad

you

Brian Edding

can Christmas you think of grandma like you want to kill her someone whoever wrote that song did not like their grandma

Conrad

Yeah, I just lacked taste on every level.

I Mean, maybe grandma was okay.

Maybe she tore ACL or something when the reindeer ran her over and what a jerk of a reindeer, right?

You take Santa through the night sky, you can't avoid grandma?

Yeah, just go

Brian Edding

left, you know?

Conrad

Yeah, pivot, head fake, whatever you gotta do.

Tony, the trucker in the 608 says, Pete, don't really care for any Christmas music.

It seems hypocritical to me.

Why can't we have peace on earth, goodwill toward man, all year?

I agree with that, Tony.

He says, plus holidays, stress out people and they drive even worse.

Have you found that con?

Think people drive worse around the holidays?

Brian Edding

Yeah, you know, especially during those travel days and where, you know, it's like you're driving two hours somewhere to relatives and you just

Conrad

heavy traffic.

Brian Edding

Yeah, you can just see that and they're not driving well either.

Conrad

Right.

No, that's true.

It's a good point.

Todd or Billy.

I love that.

Todd or Billy.

Who's the texture?

Todd or Billy?

Well, which one is it?

They don't know.

I'm the 414.

The Mariah Carey one, of course.

Stop picking on Mariah Carey people.

She's lovely.

She battled back from her career was nowhere.

I love that song.

Thank you, Todd or Billy.

Actually, thank you, Billy.

No thanks, Todd.

Let's start a little infighting between you.

Tom from Hartford says, Blue Christmas by Elvis.

Oh, I actually kind of like that one.

Brian Edding

I like

Conrad

one of

Brian Edding

them.

When Frank Hermans does it.

Frank Hermans.

Conrad

Yeah, that's awesome when Frank does it.

Mike from Cottage Grove says, I could get along without any of them.

Okay.

That's fair.

I want to talk to you, Con, about before we read some more texts or bring Brian into the show, the chair company.

You know, this Tim Robinson, I really do like him.

I have to say he's hilarious at times.

But I don't understand what the heck was going on at the end.

So think about that.

We'll get to that.

I might ask Brian adding about that.

We have to talk about this show.

Yes, we do.

But first, I have to tell people about our Civic Media grown-up gift list, a multi-state text-to-win contest happening here at Civic Media through December 12th.

You are eligible to win $200 in cash daily.

If you text in the keyword, I am about to give you

Using the app you have to use the civic media app and if by doing so you will automatically enroll yourself And make yourself eligible for three grand prizes a brand new snowblower stainless steel cookware set or a portable air conditioner Are our our keyword this hour you ready for this con it's a good one red RED red RED that's a great keyword

You notice the theme with these keywords are all about Christmas.

Well, yeah, that makes sense if you picked up on that.

Yeah So red is this ours keyword our ed text in good luck everybody Yeah, I don't I Don't know I Don't know what was going on if you've seen the chair company, please chime in folks because I There's times there are times during the show.

I was laughing hysterically.

Yeah, but I don't

Brian Edding

know

That last episode no clue You know, I was just so confused by the ending like I kind of get where they were going with it with What the her his co-worker that they went to high school together and she purposely broke the chair or whatever But like the person that was behind the mask.

I was like what is going on right

Conrad

now?

That's the part I didn't understand I love that that the girl that he embarrassed in high school

ended up breaking the chair that sent him on this journey of conspiracy.

But like, it's just so weird and funny.

It reminds me of the movie Friendship that Tim Robinson was also the star of when he leads his wife down into the sewers and she gets lost.

They have to call in the fire department.

It's like this whole thing like the guy is hysterically funny.

I don't think you wrote that one either.

But anyway, if you have thoughts in the chair company, we'd love to hear them.

And we've got some, uh, we've got Brian Heading coming up next.

Movie producer Brian Heading.

We're coming right back.

It's Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Peach Wabba (host)

This is so fun.

I love doing the show for Madison.

It's, folks, just let's take a moment to practice some gratitude here.

It's December 3rd.

We are inching ever closer to Christmas and the holidays or, you know, Hanukkah if you're Jewish or whatever you celebrate this time of year.

It's just a great time of year.

December 3rd, there's a nip in the air here in Wisconsin.

We're talking about movies.

We've got text to win, giveaways.

Giving Tuesday, all this kind of fun stuff, a fun movie premiere tomorrow night, and great stuff.

So it's so great to have you here.

And, you know, thanks for being here.

The show would not be the same without listeners.

Conrad, would you agree with that?

I totally agree.

Otherwise we'd be sitting here talking to ourselves here.

What are we doing, right?

I totally agree.

Okay.

Very cool.

You have, this is funny that you just mentioned this.

So I'm going to bring, I think we'll bring Brian on at 735.

Is he coming on phone or stream over stream stream?

Okay All right, I just set that up because then he doesn't have to sit through the news so we're gonna talk about that But you said we we have this Danny DeVito clip.

We've been sitting in

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

what

Peach Wabba (host)

and it's

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

yeah, it is one of my favorite Danny DeVito Moments, it's you know, it's if you've seen friends you definitely know the scene it's it's You can definitely see it in just the audio you've seen the show If you know

Peach Wabba (host)

are you gonna play it

Yeah.

Oh, you cut out there.

Sorry.

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

Yes.

So what else do you have to set up?

Well, it's just all right.

So Phoebe is getting married to Paul Rudd's character in Friends.

And while they have the Bachelorette party and she wants, you know, a stripper, but Rachel and

Peach Wabba (host)

Monica

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

didn't know.

And they last minute went to the phone book and got one.

And yeah, I think

Peach Wabba (host)

that is so

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

great.

Peach Wabba (host)

I

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

think that's all the setup we need to do so.

SPEAKER_??

All right.

Danny DeVito (clip)

She cringed.

Rachel and Monica (clip)

This is how I look when I'm turned on.

Danny DeVito (clip)

You weren't talking about me before.

Look, I don't need this.

I'm out of here.

Where's my hat?

Look, I've been in this business for a long time.

Shocking.

Now if you just pay me my $300, I'll be on my way.

Rachel and Monica (clip)

$300?

Are you kidding?

No, that's okay.

Let me just get my checkbook.

No, you're not gonna pay.

I mean, it didn't do anything.

Danny DeVito (clip)

Didn't do anything?

I took a bus all the way from Hoboken.

I climbed, I don't know, like a billion stairs.

It's not like I could take them two at a time.

Rachel and Monica (clip)

I'm paying you $300 for this.

Danny DeVito (clip)

Well, it looks not my fault if you're too uptight to appreciate the male form and all its glory.

Rachel and Monica (clip)

Oh, yeah, OK.

I'm uptight.

Yeah, that's why I don't want to watch a middle-aged guy dance around in what I can only assume is a child's Halloween costume.

Danny DeVito (clip)

I may have borrowed this from my nephew.

But let me assure you, what's underneath

is all man.

Rachel and Monica (clip)

I'm sorry, did you say all man or old man?

Danny DeVito (clip)

You're mean.

Officer, I'm sorry.

Damn it!

Big surprise!

The hunk of

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

beef has feelings.

It's such a great... It didn't say it in there, but his name is Officer Goodbody.

Peach Wabba (host)

How do you not love Danny DeVito?

You probably don't remember the show Taxi.

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

No, I don't.

Peach Wabba (host)

I know what it is, but I have never watched it.

It's worth going back just for him.

The show is okay.

I don't know if it holds up or not.

I was a kid when it was on, but it's.

It's worth just for Danny DeVito alone.

He plays like the cab dispatcher and he's just awesome.

Okay, we're going to bring Brian on at 735 and we'll close the show with my old pal Brian Edding.

Just a reminder that the keyword for this hour for our text to win multi-state giveaway is red RED text that in on the app and you are eligible for 200 bucks cash today and you will automatically be enrolled in our grand prizes.

So that's kind of exciting.

We've got the screening tomorrow night, Connor's coming down.

Conrad will be here, folks.

If you need another incentive to go to the Atwood Music Hall tomorrow, you will meet the man behind the laugh, the man behind the board, Conrad Krieger, will be there taking pictures and rubbing shoulders.

This is kind of cool.

I don't know how you guys feel about this, but you know what?

Actually, I'm gonna save that for Friday.

We're gonna have some beer talk on Friday night.

There's a very cool beer.

coming to wisconsin and we'll talk about that as we lead into more bears packer stuff but i have to uh i have to read a couple texts from last night i don't like to miss texts from anybody your mom texted in do you remember what the question was uh she said miami was traffic ever what was

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

that about in honor of it was travel tuesday yesterday

Peach Wabba (host)

what

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

is the crappiest city or state you've been to

Peach Wabba (host)

Yeah, there you go.

Well, yeah, my just for

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

the traffic alone my mama When they lived in Key West, I would fly into Miami and then we had to take the trek down for Miami to Key West and Well, let's just say, you know of one little traffic jam hits.

That's it's backed up

Peach Wabba (host)

Well, let's put a nail in the coffin to have Indiana from last time John Murray text that is after we were off the air He said worst state might be Indiana again people.

What is they just don't like Indiana?

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

That

Peach Wabba (host)

was he says I drove

Huh,

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

I said

Peach Wabba (host)

that that's

Conrad Krieger (co-host)

up to 10 for Indiana.

Peach Wabba (host)

That's right.

Okay.

He says I drove to Colorado and back from Illinois solo in a 75 Chevy Impala.

I hope that wasn't recently.

What a big beautiful boat.

Anyways, Nebraska is brutal.

Yes, Nebraska is brutal too.

Flat I 8380 goes on forever in the scenery is just like the tree.

the three rocks and a brush or cactus or something like the Flintstones.

Thank you, John.

Sorry we missed that last night.

We have got we have so many social media texts too.

We had what's that guy can you get all these con?

This is so awesome.

I love when people are part of the show.

Kayla Kelly texted something that never goes on sale.

I think it was giving Tuesday.

She said airline tickets.

How do you like that?

Yeah, you know all about that.

Yeah.

All right, we're coming back after the news folks with Brian edding movie producer and he'll help us close out the show It's peach wabba and nightlight on the civic media radio network

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Welcome back!

So great to have you with me, folks.

I am Pete Chihuahua.

This is Nightlight.

We are broadcasting live from downtown Madison tonight.

Our question of the night, you still got time.

What is your least favorite Christmas Carol or song or one you don't ever have to hear again?

Paula in the 920 says the chipmunk song.

So, so annoying.

That's actually my favorite Paula.

Totally with you.

Thank you, Paula.

All right, we've had a lot of fun talking about the Godfather of Green Bay Screening happening here in Madison tomorrow night at the Atwood Music Hall.

We've talked to Tom Lennon, Lance Barber, Lauren Holly a little earlier, and now, folks, it is my pleasure to welcome tonight, the man who made it happen, because I was just a guy with a script.

I didn't know what the heck I was doing, and this guy helped me through all of it.

And I never liked him personally, but he was a great producer.

Mr. Brian Edding joins us now.

Hey,

Brian Edding (interviewee)

buddy.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

How are you?

Brian Edding (interviewee)

Hey, Pete.

Great to see you, man.

Good to see you, too.

I'm sorry.

I'm a little late to it.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

No, no.

Better late than never.

It's great to have you here.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

Great to be with you and see your face.

You look great.

Likewise, buddy.

So glad to talk about Godfather Green Bay.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Boy, it's been a while for me.

It's been years since I've seen it or screened it anywhere, so I don't know what to expect.

I don't know how I'm going to react, but it's probably even longer for you.

You're so in demand.

You go from one set to the next, and you're this big hotshot.

But at one point, you did this little film with me.

What are your recollections initially?

Uh-oh.

Do we lose Brian?

I think.

Maybe we'll just have him call if maybe we lost the link.

It looks like he's there.

All right, we'll get Brian back.

But I'm, you know, as fun as it has been to talk to Lauren and Tom and Lance and some of the other cast members, Mike Siegel last night, I'm equally, I'm very anxious to get Brian.

Oh, do we have Brian back?

There he is.

Hey, buddy.

Oh, con.

Now this monitor's freaking out.

What the heck?

Uh, maybe we should just have him call.

Yeah.

Conrad (producer)

Yeah.

Uh, can you send me his number?

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Uh, yeah.

Conrad (producer)

Stand by.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Say something, Con.

Read a text.

Do something.

I'll send you his number.

We'll figure this out.

Conrad (producer)

You know, I got to say with, uh, I know what you're going to talk about with the, with the new beer that's coming out.

You do?

I do.

Because it's actually on one of the lists for, uh, Tanner's does this 12 days of, or 12 beers of Christmas.

And I think I know which one.

Is it bears related?

Pete Chihuahua (host)

No, it's not bears related.

Oh, really?

There's Brian.

Let's see if we can get Brian back in here.

It's not bears related, but I will tell you what it is Friday night before the game.

Hey, buddy, you're back.

I'm

Brian Edding (interviewee)

so sorry.

Yeah.

My daughter tends to use my wife's iPad and every time.

I'm on a call.

I get like these, whatever, these texts and the anyway, it threw me off.

So what I was going to say is that to answer your question, you know, I, I do jump job to job and, you know, to keep the lights on.

And, but I have such a soft warm spot for the Godfather Green Bay.

And I remember every moment of the prep and the production, unlike most movies, in fact,

I just finished a movie two weeks ago in California, and it was a little indie.

And I shared so many stories about the making of Godfather that had my crew rolling.

I still can't believe what we pulled off.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

It was unbelievable.

And I, you know, I really tip of my hat to you.

You found Dale, God rest his soul and Don.

Don Aaron, two of the most phenomenal guys, the editor and the DP.

It was so much fun.

But I think just working with you, I learned so much because I couldn't believe, you know, first of all, when we were on the set and you had all this knowledge, I think you turned, you had a birthday shortly after we were just talking to Lauren Holly before who turned 40 on the set.

That's one of her

Brian Edding (interviewee)

favorite memories.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

But you turned 30.

Like, right.

And I was like, how does this guy know all this stuff about movies?

And he's five years younger than me.

It was crazy.

Your knowledge of the craft.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

Oh, that's really sweet of you to say.

Well, I started assisting for a director, a producer director named Mark Lester, who directed Commando.

You remember that?

Conrad (producer)

Oh,

Brian Edding (interviewee)

yeah.

1980s action film and fire starter and a couple of big 80s films.

And I was a reader in college for him.

Part time, he used to pay me to read.

a bunch of scripts and give him coverage and I was a literature major and and then that transitioned into being his on set assistant on a few uh like cable movies that he used to do and he used to take me around and so that was my film school from like graduating to uh pretty much five years after um I was that I was his from his executive and his assistant to becoming his producer he used to send me to

different places, like I shot a movie for him in Ireland, but I produced all very forgettable films.

And then

Conrad (producer)

I went

Brian Edding (interviewee)

off and kind of started making my own independent films.

And then, you know, met you guys, you and your writing partner at the time.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Greg, yeah.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

Yeah,

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Greg.

That's right.

You guys optioned a movie we wrote called Dream Girl.

And we ended up getting it set up at Warner Brothers.

It'll probably never get made at this point.

But one of the funniest

Conrad (producer)

things

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Greg and I ever wrote, we still talk

Conrad (producer)

about

Pete Chihuahua (host)

that.

and lament about it.

But in terms of the Godfather of Green Bay, here's what I love.

Here's my favorite Brian story.

You're a California kid, an LA kid.

You grew up in the valley.

And we go to Little Marinette, Wisconsin, my adopted hometown, because I spent the first part of my life in Chicago and

people liked you better than they liked me.

Like, you know, you always hear about this, oh, LA, you know, people just have this like, you know, stereotype about, you know, the coasts, you come in there and everybody loves you.

You probably got more deals for us than I did.

And I was the local.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

I would say that I always felt that I belonged in a small town.

I feel I still feel that to this day.

And, you know,

You know this, but since that experience, spending time with your family and your parents, and I realized that I wanted to have a similar lifestyle.

Now, I've never left LA for a longer period of time than a couple months, but I did become a Packers fan since that experience.

Conrad (producer)

I was a Packers

Brian Edding (interviewee)

fan.

And I still am a Packers fan to this day.

I have a seven year old son.

I took him to a Rams game and he wore his packer.

He wore his packer

Pete Chihuahua (host)

jersey.

And he knows

Brian Edding (interviewee)

I'm a big Packer fan.

Yeah, so.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

They have fans everywhere.

I'm still like Conrad, our producer here.

He's a huge Packer fan and we have, you know.

It's the it's this is just so serendipitous because the Bears Packers game is this weekend and

Conrad (producer)

this

Pete Chihuahua (host)

movie is screening at the here in town And so it's it's really fun and we had the you know all the scenes with all the Packer fans Lauren Holly and I were talking before About that last night.

I don't know if we wrapped or we were close to it But we had nowhere to go the bars were all closed It was like three o'clock in the morning and we were you know just gassed but also exuberant about the film, you know wrapping and ever so

somebody got their hands on some vodka and we were hanging out in the lobby of the best Western kind of laying on the floor drinking vodka.

And then the pool opened at six a.m.

and we all went in cannibals.

And we

Brian Edding (interviewee)

all went in cannibals and I was there.

I was great.

I jumped in the water with you guys.

Yeah.

I remember it was such an experience.

I mean, you know, part of the beauty of that making that thing and I'm sure I would have loved to hear you got to send me the Tom Lennon and Lance Barber interviews because and as well because.

I'm sure we have so many crossover stories and memories because I personally remember rapping and hitting the bar and uh every most of the time you're on shoots everyone just wants to get back home and go to bed and get the rest before like the next 6am call time but this was such an unusual thing that every night

You can count on the actors and a lot of crew members hitting the bar and just laughing and sharing stories.

And a couple of times I was like, I think we have like a seven a.m.

Your call time is like six a.m.

We got to get home.

And people showed up.

But it was it was that kind of very familial communal experience where everyone really enjoyed the shoot as much as they enjoyed talking about and sharing stories after the shoot.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

It was so much fun.

And if you haven't seen it, and I talked about this with Lauren a little bit, Mike Siegel did a great behind the scenes.

It's on YouTube.

Godfather of Green Bay.

He was on last night.

Godfather of Green Bay behind the scenes on YouTube.

It's Tony, Lauren, Tom, Josh is on there.

Josh has a really funny line.

And it was just so much fun.

And we, it's been fun going down memory lane.

Cause like I said, you know, you just move on from stuff.

Conrad (producer)

And it's always in

Pete Chihuahua (host)

your heart, but

just all these stories about like Lance saying every time Tom Lennon would walk up on stage Tom was so in character he would he would bring Lance up onto the stage in the movie and he would say off the mic he would say knock him dead tubby like rolled his eyes it got a kick out of it was also in Lennon's in Wisconsin now he lives in Lake Geneva is that

Brian Edding (interviewee)

crazy?

I someone mentioned that you know I worked with Lennon on a

HBO Funny or Die series, him and his partner Ben, a couple years following that movie.

But that's so wild, man.

I mean, God, you just, Mark Borchard, how we met those guys on a plane with

Conrad (producer)

our

Brian Edding (interviewee)

casting director.

And I think Donna, our casting director, just went up to them, or Mark and Mike and just asked them if they wanted to be in a movie.

And they just, I mean, followed up and suddenly they were in our movie.

just like and Tony Goldwyn how committed he was he we recorded accents for him in a local market and he just really wanted to nail it and get it right and same with the you know same with the dance all of those like the

Conrad (producer)

behind the

Brian Edding (interviewee)

scenes footage of us rehearsing with all of these locals the Macarena I mean every little bit of it as it was the perfect time of year with the leaves changing

Pete Chihuahua (host)

our

Brian Edding (interviewee)

experience ever

Uh, a fall like that, you know, um, so special.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Yeah.

My guest is Brian Edding.

He is a movie producer and, uh, coincidentally produced, uh, The Godfather of Green Bay, which we're screening tomorrow night.

Uh, we have Brian for a few more minutes here, just talking, uh, taking a little trip down memory memory lane here.

Uh, do you have, uh, you know, I, I want to tell you too, you just mentioned Tony Goldman.

We had, I don't know if you remember this.

We had Patrick Warburton booked as big Jake.

That's right.

Yeah, and he had to, he had to commit, he had something happen and Lauren had to change her dates.

We kept Lauren cause we had her first and we were scrambling.

We started shooting and we had no big Jake.

And then like on the fourth day of shooting, you hand me your cell phone and you say, Tony Goldwin's on the phone.

He wants to play big Jake.

I was like,

Conrad (producer)

oh

Pete Chihuahua (host)

my God.

And I was

Brian Edding (interviewee)

like, yeah, go ahead.

No, I was just thinking, I remember he was living in Virginia or something like that.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Connecticut,

Brian Edding (interviewee)

yeah.

Connecticut and his agent had rung and said it's a nice little departure for what he's been doing and he likes to kind of take shots and risks it's a unique material and stay close to home.

And God, what a, what a regulatory idea, right?

Like out of nowhere.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Absolutely.

And it was great.

There was an article about him in the LA Times when I got back saying he only picks projects he really likes and his grandpa and still his grandpa, Metro Goldman, Meyer Goldman said, you know, your body of work is what's important.

And, you know, you helped me bring in this great cast, Brian, that I'm still in touch with today.

Tom Lance, Lauren, they all love the movie.

And I can't thank you enough for that.

So you'll always be tops in my book, buddy.

You're like a brother.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

I can't wait to do it again, man.

I miss you and I miss... I want to find something else to do in Wisconsin.

I think I recently

Pete Chihuahua (host)

sent

Brian Edding (interviewee)

you something about the tax credits and the rebates out

Conrad (producer)

there.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

Yeah, yeah.

We

Conrad (producer)

got to get another one

Brian Edding (interviewee)

going.

You got to bring the team back.

Hopefully there'll be an in-person reunion.

I'm dying that I'm going to miss the actual screening.

I know you're, you're, there'll be hopefully a lot of bears, bears fans and package fans that'll bear.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

Dude, thank you so much.

And let's.

I would love

Brian Edding (interviewee)

to, please hit me back.

Okay.

Great

Pete Chihuahua (host)

seeing you.

Brian Edding (interviewee)

All

Pete Chihuahua (host)

right.

Take care.

Brian edding.

All right.

We are coming right back to wrap this thing up from Madison is nightlight with peach wava.

Welcome back.

We are closing things down here pretty soon.

It has been a really fun show.

Thank you for being with me, folks.

And thank you for all your texting calls.

Thank you to Brian Edding.

Thank you to a celebrity chef, Chad Visker.

Thank you to Lauren Holly.

And of course, Orly KG of the Bad Moms of Comedy.

Steady Eddie texts in from the 608.

Mr. Andy Williams, please don't tell me.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Oh, yeah, that's a grading one after a while.

Steady Eddie says, I say, ba humbug.

It's the coldest, darkest, cloudiest, iciest, most dreary time of the year.

That song makes me want to hibernate like a grizzly bear.

I'll be okay, Pete.

I just need a few Christmas cookies.

A mug of eggnog and Karen Carpenter singing Merry Christmas Darling.

Steady, Eddie.

I can't picture that song, Merry Christmas Darling.

But I love Karen Carpenter.

I'll have to go to the Google for that one, Con.

So I write these beats every day.

They play at the bottom of the hour on Civic Media here every day.

This is a crazy story.

You know the show Home Improvement, right?

Conrad (producer)

Yes.

Yep.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Okay.

Zachary Ty Bryan, who played the oldest, I believe he played the oldest son of Tim Allen and the woman who played his wife.

Boy, is this guy messed up.

And he's so, he's been arrested six times in five years.

He's got three kids with a woman who just tried to run him over with a pickup truck.

She missed.

He dove out of the way.

She drove into a ditch.

They have three kids together.

In 2021, he or she tried to strangle the other person.

Since then, they've had three kids.

Two other arrests involve him getting physical with a woman, and one of those women he has like four kids with.

Now, we've made fun of Nick Cannon on this show and Kelsey Grammer for having so many kids with so many different women, but they seem involved as much as they can be.

And financially supportive, this poor guy needs serious help.

And so do the women that stay with it.

I mean, it was, it was heartbreak.

Like I made jokes about it.

Cause what else can you do?

But this is, this was so heartbreaking to read about this guy.

Conrad (producer)

You know, these, I mean, maybe these, these women are just like fascinated by the way he, he played that character or something and think he's going to be just

Pete Chihuahua (host)

like that

Conrad (producer)

character.

But yeah, that's crazy.

that is

Pete Chihuahua (host)

bring kids into it.

His

Conrad (producer)

girlfriend or his wife?

Pete Chihuahua (host)

It's this this woman was his fiancee who tried to run him over.

He tried to strangle five years ago.

I mean, if you ever put your hands on someone, it seems like that would be the point to go.

Oh, I need some help.

Conrad (producer)

Well,

Pete Chihuahua (host)

yeah, we can't work through that.

You know what I mean?

Conrad (producer)

It's if they weren't like engaged yet back then when he tried like why would

You say yes to him asking them.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

She said, yeah, that's the whole thing.

She said, yes, after that.

And then they had the three kids.

I don't understand.

There's a lot of stuff I don't get.

We've got some more texts on social media.

Chuck Gennaro says, is all of them an acceptable answer?

Sure, Chuck.

You could be a bomb.

Vince Moranto on social media says, anything off the Bob Dylan Christmas album came out a few years back.

It's real.

And trust me, it is horrendous.

I believe that Bob Dylan's hard to listen to these days.

Um, Tim Baker, response to Vince says, what does Marengo have no margins?

Am I, what's going on?

And my M's aren't working again.

Conrad (producer)

Um,

Pete Chihuahua (host)

I'll be fine.

It'll fix itself.

Amanda Nimmer, one of the producers here at Nightlight and for WGBW says, last Christmas by absolutely anyone.

Stacy Su says, oh my, I think she liked that one.

The Christmas shoes.

Hey, let's have, for Friday night, let's have the Christmas shoes ready.

Cause I don't think, I know I've heard that song, but I can't remember it.

I know it's supposed to be terrible.

Conrad (producer)

Yeah,

Pete Chihuahua (host)

it's, I mean,

Conrad (producer)

we played it before and it was bad.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Have we?

Yes.

Conrad (producer)

Cause I mean, last year I think during this time we were like, what is that song?

And it is a terrible

Pete Chihuahua (host)

piles terrible.

Yeah Laura on social media says there are so many but there is a version of have yourself a merry little Christmas I can't remember which one of the divas did it it might have been Christina Aguilera But it is so overdone and she put so much effort into showing people how much How much many notes she can fit in a phrase and it's just a nightmare to listen to Alan on social media says Christmas wrapping by the waitresses.

Oh, I don't know that one

Max Blasca sent a link.

He said, Santa, Santa Buddy by Michael Buble.

All this is probably the strangest Christmas song I've ever heard.

Daniel Wheeler, Danny Wheels, Our Pals of Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt.

Eric Rassack from Ask Your Mother says, last Christmas by Wham.

So I survive Wham again, Whamageddon.

Mike Desitel, Grandma got run over by Ranger.

Our pal Nick Wallander at Green Bay Comedy says, the Christmas shoes,

And Brenda current associate my friend agreed with Nick Conrad's dad shines in and says hallmark Christmas movies if you see one you have seen them all Well, not a little movie called a cherry pie Christmas Eve

Conrad (producer)

You know you seen that yet.

No, I need to watch it, you know I was wondering is

Pete Chihuahua (host)

life

Conrad (producer)

mark doing anything

Pete Chihuahua (host)

this year I think life mark could make a new appearance.

I think we can

If we could throw something together, how long are those to be right on time to play?

Conrad (producer)

No,

Pete Chihuahua (host)

no, but we'll break one of those out.

Yes,

Conrad (producer)

you know, we did a Christmas shoes life mark movie was

Pete Chihuahua (host)

we did.

Yeah, that's right.

Yeah, the Christmas turtleneck.

Well, a

Conrad (producer)

trailer, but you know, yeah, production was a little slow.

So we stopped filming, but.

Pete Chihuahua (host)

Well, we'll get to it.

Tomorrow night, though.

We're focusing on another movie, folks.

I hope you can make it out to the Atwood Music Festival.

Thank you for your patience with me talking about this movie.

But when Katharine Lake and Johnny Gordy suggested a screening, I thought it was great.

A lot of the proceeds go to the Dane County Humane Society.

Tony Goldman, Lauren Holly, a fun story.

Tomorrow night, December 4th at the Atwood Music Hall, if you're in Madison, join us.

Sponsored by our friends at Doundrens Distilling and Cottage Grove.

Conrad, I will see you there tomorrow night.

Correct.

I will be there.

Lock the join up before you leave tonight.

Will you maybe avoid those ghosts?

Conrad (producer)

The lights have gone out a couple times

Pete Chihuahua (host)

A special thanks to Dom for helping us get set up here and Dom Lee, that is, and the very talented and wonderful Aaron Zalmers.

We will be back on Friday night.

We got a lot of fun tomorrow night.

You can still play the text of win tomorrow night.

We've got some highlights going on and another live show Friday.

It's going to be a blast, folks.

On behalf of the lovable producer Conrad, I'm Pete Chihuahua saying good night,

Conrad (producer)

Wisconsin.
