And

Radio Announcer

now a guy whose house has an actual wiggle room, Pete Schwabba.

Pete Schwabba

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen.

Let's do it.

It's Friday night.

Friday night edition of Light Night.

Light.

Light Night, I'm off to a good start.

Night Light!

I am so drunk, I have to be honest.

Conrad (Producer)

You celebrated in the wiggle room today?

Pete Schwabba

I did.

I threw a few back.

No, I didn't.

I have a... You know what?

That's kind of sad.

I can't even be drunk on the air if I wanted to be because I have an hour-long commute.

There's always a hotel room.

How's that for perspective?

Great to have you with me.

It is Friday night and this is Night Light with Peach Waba.

I am Peach Waba.

And we are broadcasting live statewide.

And wherever you are joining us from, it is a pleasure to have you here, folks.

We've got a lot of fun plans tonight.

We're all about music tonight.

We're going to read some texts.

We have a great question.

Writing shotgun, as always, is the lovable producer, Conrad.

Conrad (Producer)

Hello.

I just want to say happy birthday.

And I wanted it to be extra special for you this year.

Really?

So earlier in the week, you know how new stations, they can put your name.

in their broadcast for, you know, for birthdays.

Pete Schwabba

Okay.

Conrad (Producer)

Well, I did that.

But the only thing is, for have it to be $0, it had to be a 2 AM.

So I set the DVR

Pete Schwabba

for $0.

I mean, you don't want to pay.

Yeah.

Nothing says love like a freebie.

Conrad (Producer)

Okay.

So, well, I did get the audio from it.

Really?

So we can play that now.

Yeah, let's hear it.

I'm curious.

WBLO, false news at 2.

We bring you the scoop.

Oh, is this thing out?

Good morning, I am John Johnson with your WBLO false news at 2AM.

Today we open up with a story from the entertainment world.

Adrian Brody called local radio host about his long Oscar speech.

Adrian was not happy.

Adrian Brody

Yeah, I know a lot of people didn't like my speech.

You think I don't know that?

You know how many phone calls I still have to make?

Yeah, no one understands.

Conrad (Producer)

Maybe you should've kept it under five minutes,

Benson Bensonson

Brody.

Now let's look at birthdays with Benson Bensonson.

Thanks, John Johnson.

Let's look at the birthdays today.

Happy 12th birthday to Veronica from mom, dad, gram, gram, and gram, gram.

We love you.

Get ready for cake.

And happy 33rd birthday to Peach Cobbler.

I can't be right happy 33rd birthday Pete Schwabba from your producer Conrad You thought you'd get away from the dogs barking happy birthday, but you were wrong here.

They are now Wow

How about a talented bunch of barking dogs?

Let's throw it to Paul Paulson with a traffic

Paul Paulson

update.

Thank you, Benson Benson.

Well, there's not much traffic because it's 2 a.m.

Wait a minute.

Here's a car.

Hello, sir.

Back to you, John Johnson.

Thank

Georgia Georgeison

you,

Paul Paulson

Paul.

Conrad (Producer)

Now let's throw it to Georgia Georgeison for the weather.

Georgia Georgeison

Thanks, John.

Today it's going to rain.

Wait, did he?

Did they say it's Peach Cobbler's birthday?

I love Peach Cobbler.

Georgia, I believe it's Peach Shwaba, not Peach Cobbler.

Oh yeah, um, pack an umbrella.

Back to you, John.

Conrad (Producer)

Thank you, Georgia!

Georgia's in!

Now let's throw it to Ken Kensin for sports.

Thanks, John.

Our team's going more than the hour.

Thank you, Ken Kensin!

For WBLO, false news at 2 AM, I'm John Johnson.

I'll see you again.

WBLO, false news at 2.

We bring you the scoop.

Pete Schwabba

WBLO.

Okay, a couple things.

You had me, I almost teared up until I heard the dogs barking.

And then, boy, if you don't go far in sports with that voice, Conrad, I don't know what happened.

That's beautiful.

Thank you, buddy.

That was very sweet.

Thank you.

How funny is it that I pitched yesterday, I told you my new idea, what we're gonna do is the INN network, the Inappropriate News Network, and you're probably in the back of your head like, oh, that's interesting.

Something that's interesting on those lines.

Conrad (Producer)

Oh, I mean that the DVR was set.

I had to tune into them They're my favorite.

They're my favorite local news

Pete Schwabba

station crazy that all those names ended up like that.

Conrad (Producer)

Yeah, you know, Georgia, Georgia sin George George's Benson

Pete Schwabba

none of them sound contrived either That's what was so great about it.

But no seriously.

Thank you.

That was really nice That's a great way to kick off a birthday episode.

When is your birthday again?

I know we do June 10th June 10th.

All right, so now I got a top that okay

Maybe I'll incorporate you maybe I'll get you to I'll play a joke on you and get you to do something and you won't even know it's for your birthday I'm producing your We do have a great show tonight folks.

It is a birthday show.

It is my birthday today, so that Well, let's do let's do guests and then we'll come to the question our guests tonight.

We have a really good lineup and it's all about the music tonight our friends Amelie and John from 7,000 Apart are here and the way it's interesting.

They don't know this but

When I talk about them, I tell everybody I discovered them.

So I don't know how they feel about that.

And if they're listening, maybe they hear that, but I just take credit for them.

And I'm OK doing that.

But they'll be here at 635.

Great musical duo.

They like to perform here in studio as well as on other shows here at Civic Media.

They've worked down the block at Hagermeister Park.

They play live in Sweden all the time.

They're they met.

I love the story.

They met at Preble High School when she was an exchange student.

And they did the long distance thing and that's where the name 7,000 apart comes from.

It's 7,000 kilometers and now they're married and they travel all over the place and they've got

They're going places.

They're doing some really great stuff.

So they'll be here to perform tonight.

They've got a new album out, all kinds of fun stuff.

That's at 635.

And then, ladies and gentlemen, it is a bar band Friday night.

Terry Barr, our friend from Maxink Radio, will be here at 735, as she so often is.

And she will share new music with us and some great conversation.

Now, I want to roll from Terry Barr into what our question of the night is because, yeah, go ahead.

Conrad (Producer)

Well, I just got to say, I just got a voicemail.

Oh, really?

It's the weirdest thing this thing doesn't take voicemails, but we got one.

Is it from Bob Boberson?

Pete Schwabba

Should I display it?

I'm curious.

Yeah, let's see what's going on.

Jimmy Stewart Impersonator

Hey, is he on the line now?

Yeah, all right.

Hey peach cobbler.

It's Jimmy Stewart from heaven.

I've got a little poem for you.

Yeah, you know, I like to write poems and everything.

Well, let me tell you something peach cobbler at your birthday today and gee whiz that's just swell

Up here in heaven, we're all tipping our halos and ringing them bells with a jubilant yell.

The peach, you're warm like a Sunday sunset and as sweet as the stars in a clear midnight sky.

If birthdays were movies, well, this one's a classic and a feel-good showstopper and no need to ask why.

So, so peach, you blow out them candles, you make one hell of a wish.

And don't you dare skimp on the vanilla ice cream, because life's just a wonderful, wonderful thing.

And you, dear Peach, you're the star of the scene.

I want to wish you a happy birthday, Peach Cobbler.

I hope you have a great birthday.

Have a good one.

Bye now.

Who the hell names their kid, Peach Cobbler?

I don't get it.

Pete Schwabba

He wasn't hung up yet.

I don't think you realized.

You know, it's such a great touch.

Uh, the vanilla ice cream.

Thank you, Jimmy, from Beyond the Grave.

Not many people get birthday wishes from Beyond the Grave,

Unidentified Speaker

so that

Pete Schwabba

was very nice.

All of you guys, it was just great.

Thank you.

It's been a fun day.

I've heard from so many civic media people today.

I didn't even think they'd like me.

because I never bring donuts when I go and do the show from Madison.

But no, it's outstanding and it's been a really great day.

So thank you so much.

We'll keep this train rolling with our question of the night.

Casey Kasem Impersonator

Let's talk about

Paul Paulson

the

Pete Schwabba

question.

Okay, question.

Paul Paulson

Question.

Georgia Georgeison

Question.

Pregunta.

Question.

Paul Paulson

Question.

Georgia Georgeison

Okay, I have a question.

Questions.

This question.

Paul Paulson

Domanda.

Question.

Georgia Georgeison

Question.

Questions.

Pete Schwabba

What is...

Our question of the night.

I went off the page.

There we go.

What celebrity do you share a birthday with?

Very simple.

And here's what we're going to do, folks.

Share what celebrity you share a birthday with.

Text it in on the stream, on the app, old school, on the phone at 8557-524-842-8557-5 Civic.

Text us who you share a birthday with.

And we are going to write down these names.

And at the end of the night, we are going to vote someone.

as the coolest birthday celebrity sharer.

We'll find out who shares a birthday with the coolest celebrity, and we're gonna bring in the talents of our friend Terri Barr.

We'll read them when she's here.

Conrad, Terri, and I will decide who has the coolest celebrity birthday.

Conrad (Producer)

That sounds fun.

That's great.

Pete Schwabba

For

Conrad (Producer)

yours.

I can't pick myself, right?

No, and you kind of poo

Pete Schwabba

pooed your own.

Conrad (Producer)

The mine is June 10th, so I share a birthday with Kate Upton.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah.

Conrad (Producer)

Uh, Judy Garland.

Okay.

And Bill Burr.

Okay.

That's good.

Pete Schwabba

So those are three right there.

You kind of sounded like you were a little down on the people you shared birthday with, but those are

Conrad (Producer)

good,

Pete Schwabba

I think.

Conrad (Producer)

It's all right.

Kate Upton's the best one.

For what reasons?

She's a great actress.

Pete Schwabba

She played a nun in the three, the Fairly Brothers edition of the Three Stooges.

Uh, my birthday celebrities are Vince Vaughn.

Julia Styles I do have kind of a connection to Julia Styles because I co-wrote a film called a guy thing with Greg Lana and That came out in 2004.

I think from MGM and Julia is in the movie.

So I share a birthday with her and Lady Gaga So those are three.

I think Julie is an A-lister but Vince Vaughn and Lady Gaga those are pretty good.

I'll take that I'd say Vince Vaughn's my favorite.

You think so?

Vince Vaughn's one of my favorite

Conrad (Producer)

actors.

So

Pete Schwabba

yeah, I It's weird.

I like Vince Vaughn

In the movies I like them in, I love them.

Swingers, phenomenal.

Old school, phenomenal.

Wedding crashers, good.

I didn't like that movie as much as I like the others, but I love old school, love swingers, and yeah, Vince Vaughn is hilarious.

Conrad (Producer)

So there was another thing actually today.

When I was rolling into work, I just tuned into a random radio station, and it played this, and I think it was connected to you actually.

Really?

Radio Announcer

Americans up 40.

Casey Kasem Impersonator

Now we're up to our long-distance dedication.

This is a special message for someone even sweeter than their name, and it reads like this.

Dear Casey, there's someone out there who makes life just a little bit warmer, a little bit sweeter, and a whole lot more special.

His name is Peach Cobbler, and today is his birthday.

From the moment I heard him on the radio, I knew he was something special.

comforting, unforgettable, and always the best part of my day.

He lights up every room like a freshly baked dessert coming out of the oven, and the world is a better place because he's in it.

Casey, could you please wish Peach Cobbler a happy birthday and Peach wherever you are?

Just know I'm out here thinking about you, celebrating you, and maybe even saving a scoop of ice cream just for you.

Signed, Gary.

Gary, here's your long distance dedication.

Happy birthday to Peach Cobbler from all of us at American Top 40.

Pete Schwabba

Wow.

Todd Michaels at a busy week.

On my

Conrad (Producer)

behalf.

That's so funny.

Pete Schwabba

Wherever Diane McWilliams is these days, I doubt she's listening.

But thank you for the Peach Cobb.

She's the one who thought my name was Peach Cobb.

You guys are getting

Unidentified Speaker

a lot of

Pete Schwabba

mileage out of that.

I'm going to tell you all about a break into spring contest, folks, when we come back.

And we'll read your text.

Who's your birthday?

Who do you share a birthday with?

What celebrity?

Let us know.

Here at Nightlight, we'll read it on the air.

And you might win our contest with no prizes later.

It's Peach Wabba at Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah.

They don't let you stay.

I still call it County Stadium.

They don't let

Conrad

you stay overnight.

It's

Pete Schwabba (host)

vacancy.

Conrad

I do, I do, would like a, would like a Chula Vista stay too.

Pete Schwabba (host)

How about a, how about club level seats?

Conrad

Then you book

Pete Schwabba (host)

up to the Dells and crash a Chula Vista.

Conrad

There you go.

Pete Schwabba (host)

That could be fun.

So we've got some texts here, which is, oh, look at these texts.

This is great.

I never know how to say it's whizzler.

I always want to call

Conrad

him

Pete Schwabba (host)

a whizzer, but that's not really, I don't think that was meant for us though.

Just let you know happy thought my grandson's are wrestling.

Oh, was it whizzer whizzer is Texting the show.

He says just let you know happy thought my grandsons are wrestling in Madison now oldest is 12 1 the state championship Yeah, wow, that's pretty cool.

Congratulations whizzer to you and your grandson.

I'm sure you're very proud.

I uh That's impressive.

Conrad

Yeah, I

Pete Schwabba (host)

wrestle you got kind of a you get your

Conrad

I wrestle

Pete Schwabba (host)

stocky and strong.

Conrad

I think until like

Can

Pete Schwabba (host)

I

Conrad

guard?

I don't know.

You just

Pete Schwabba (host)

decided.

Roll around with another dude.

Conrad

I went to baseball and the other sports.

Okay.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wrestling's a good, if you don't mind the ears, you do get those cauliflower ears

Conrad

sometimes.

I mean, wrestling is just a great workout.

It is great work.

And you have to train.

Pete Schwabba (host)

No question.

Whistler, congrats to you and your grandson.

That's pretty exciting.

And he put a little emoji there.

That's kind of cool.

Dennis from Milwaukee says, John Lennon.

Conrad, that's a good one.

Conrad

That's a pretty cool one.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So Dennis from Milwaukee, he's in the 414.

He shares a birthday with John Lennon.

And what we're asking you guys to do is text in who you share a birthday with.

And at the end of the show, Conrad, Terry Barr, and me, we will all decide who has the coolest celebrity birthday.

So Dennis is on board from Milwaukee with John Lennon.

That'll be tough to beat.

Angie from Monroe says, Jesus, okay.

He might have just topped John Lennon.

She says, Andy says the 24th.

Isn't Jesus' birthday the 25th?

Unless she's talking about a guy named Jesus who I don't know.

I assume she's talking about Jesus, last name Christ.

But we'll put that one down too.

Angie has Jesus, Dennis from Milwaukee.

Oh, he texted twice.

He's apparently trying to get a leg up on Jesus.

Luann from Green Bay says October 2nd, Gordon Sumner.

Kelly Rippa and Charlie Brown love it Luan Who is Gordon Sumner again?

Is he the guy in the police?

No, that's Andy Summers You gotta find out who Gordon Sumner is.

Yeah, no, he's That's really weird sting came up.

Maybe isn't the police That's great.

Thank you Luan from the 608 George W. Bush and the Dalai Lama

A couple of world stage heavy hitters there.

Thank you, 608.

Tammy from Eau Claire says, Dr. Seuss, her birthday is March 2nd.

Dr. Seuss, that's a good one.

You keeping up with this Conrad?

He's

Conrad

gonna

Pete Schwabba (host)

have writer's block by the time we're done with this.

From the 608.

Oh, she's giving, I think that's Malaya is her name.

So write that down with...

Oh,

Conrad

okay.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Malaya is George W. Bush and Dalai Lama.

She just put in one name like Malaya.

I'm like, oh, maybe that's a new pop star I haven't heard of.

And maybe you are.

If you are Malaya, good for you.

Tom from Minona says, happy birthday.

Pete, Joe Cocker is my birthday buddy.

Nice.

That's a great one too.

Thank you very much, Tom, for the birthday wishes.

608 says July 6th.

And I think that is Malaya again.

Yep.

Okay.

Very well done.

Luanne from Green Bay says, happy birthday, Peach Cobbler.

Thank you very much, Luanne.

I bet you wish you had a name that sounded like a fresh, tasty dessert.

Conrad

Yeah, I wish.

I could be like apple tort or something like that.

All I

Pete Schwabba (host)

have to do is say my name and it makes me hungry.

I want something sweet.

Sherry from Horakon says, happy birthday, Pete.

Hi, Conrad.

Hi, Sherry.

Great to have you with us tonight.

Rob from Green Bay says, I share a birthday with Johnny Cash.

I have a feeling, because we're letting Terri in on the fun tonight.

I don't know if she knows this yet, but she's probably gonna go linen or cash, just because she's a music person.

Terri Ryan, she's in the 414, says, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

All right, these are great, outstanding.

Keep those texts coming, folks.

Who do you share?

What celebrity do you share a birthday with?

It could be just any person of note, a Hollywood celebrity, a sports figure, politician, world do-gooder.

We would love to hear from you.

Rich on the stream, Rich, oh, our buddy, Rich Lucasio says, I share a birthday with Jonah Hill.

Conrad

Oh, that's pretty

Pete Schwabba (host)

cool.

That's a good one.

And he says, happy birthday, Schwabenator.

Didn't we change my wrestling name?

Conrad

You

Pete Schwabba (host)

didn't like it though.

But what was, yeah, it was a little bit of a stretch, but what was it?

Conrad

It was, I forgot.

I forgot

Pete Schwabba (host)

now.

Yeah, me too.

Rich, if you remember, let us know.

And Todd Alba also on the stream.

There's no bigger fan of Todd Alba than Pete Schwabba.

And Todd says, happy birthday, Pete.

Cheers.

Thank you, buddy.

And a tip of my hat to Aaron Zomers on that thing you put together.

He's

Conrad

Paul Paulson, actually.

He's Paul Paulson.

Yeet Schwabba's name.

Pete Schwabba (host)

I didn't want to ruin it because I know,

Conrad

you

Pete Schwabba (host)

know, but whatever station that was, Aaron worked for them before he worked for us.

That was good.

So good stuff.

All right.

7,000 Apart is here right when we come back from the news.

Can't wait to talk to these guys.

They're back from Sweden.

They're back in Green Bay.

They got a whole bunch of shows lined up, and we're going to talk to them about everything when we come back after the news, and we will read some more of your texts.

Let us know what celebrity you share a birthday with, and we'll see if it's the coolest celebrity of the night.

Conrad and Terry and I will all decide by the end of the show.

Great to have you with me on this Friday night.

Thanks for helping me celebrate my birthday, folks.

It's Pete Schwabba and Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

Unknown Speaker

Network.

Conrad (producer)

Alright.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Welcome back to Nightlight.

I am Pete Schwabba.

Riding shotgun is the lovable producer Conrad and we are reading your text.

Our question tonight is who do you share a celebrity birthday with?

We're going to read the text at the end of the night or read who shares what birthday with whom and we will decide who has the coolest celebrity birthday.

Terry Barber will hopefully help us do that.

Jim from Appleton says J.R.R.

Tolkien.

That's Lord of the Rings, right?

Conrad (producer)

I think it's Lord of the Rings.

That's a good

Pete Schwabba (host)

one.

608 says Mel Gibson, Greta Thunberg, Eli Manning.

Wow.

Some good.

Am I saying Thunberg?

She's Swedish,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

right?

Pete Schwabba (host)

You're talking so fast,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I don't even understand that.

Is that Swedish?

Oh, I love it.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Oh, that's

Amelie from 7000 Apart

great.

We played at her high school.

Pete Schwabba (host)

You did?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

We know

Pete Schwabba (host)

her sister.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yeah, we know her sister.

She recorded in our studio.

Yeah, we wrote with her sister.

She's an artist, yeah.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So I don't want to sound stupid, but does everybody in Sweden know each other?

Or is it?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Kind of.

It's pretty small.

See, I

Pete Schwabba (host)

picture you guys going back there hanging out with like ABBA.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yeah, I wish.

We're like one step away from that.

We're one step away.

We know someone who works with one of the ABBA members a lot.

Wow.

So you know, like we're getting there.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Who was the other artist that came out in the 90s?

She had, you've got the look.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Oh, do you mean Rookset?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Roxette,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

she's sweet too, right?

Yeah, so they're duo actually.

And she passed away a few years ago.

She did?

But they are touring now apparently, yeah.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Really?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

But with just another sweetest.

Pete Schwabba (host)

She is some good tune.

Didn't she sing the song It Must Have Been Love from, that's a beautiful

Amelie from 7000 Apart

song.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wow,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I didn't know she passed away.

Yeah.

Yeah, it's good song.

You can

Pete Schwabba (host)

add that to your

Amelie from 7000 Apart

setlist tonight.

We get asked to do a rock set quite often.

Do you

Pete Schwabba (host)

really?

That doesn't surprise me.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

All

Pete Schwabba (host)

right, the voices you're hearing folks,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

as you're probably

Pete Schwabba (host)

bringing these fine people onto the show, are Amelie and John from 7000 Apart.

They are two of our favorites here at Nightlight, and they've been on the show several times.

Always fun to have you guys.

You're back from Sweden.

You're bi-continental.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yes.

Pete Schwabba (host)

You spend time in Green Bay.

Yeah.

And in Sweden, so

John from 7000 Apart

that's so cool.

So

Pete Schwabba (host)

welcome back.

And how what do you like better?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

We can't play favorites.

Yeah, like we can't play favorites.

John from 7000 Apart

Yeah, we like we like things about both places.

And I think the more that we are in both places, we want to like enjoy the things about the place that we're currently in.

Yeah, you know, so it's

Pete Schwabba (host)

like there's things we like in both.

Do you, John?

All right.

And both of you, do you like it in your home country a little more, just like to to live?

because it's more convenient or does it not?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I mean, we chose to live in Stockholm for a reason.

I mean, that's why we are there as our base.

But again, it's very little about missing a place.

It's more about appreciating a place when we're in that place.

So when we come back here, we're like, oh my gosh, you have this thing and that thing.

Oh, that's so great.

And oh my gosh, this is so nice and the people.

I would say it's more about appreciating things more.

We

John from 7000 Apart

love the touring here,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

but in Sweden we

John from 7000 Apart

love the recorded music industry side of things.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

And we love our van here, but we also love walking in Stockholm.

You know what I mean?

Pete Schwabba (host)

You can't take that with you.

We

Amelie from 7000 Apart

cannot take our van with us.

Excellent van.

Oh my gosh, I wish.

I really wish I could do

Pete Schwabba (host)

that.

That's fantastic.

So let's talk about...

Well, first, I want to ask you something.

You said you were in Snow White.

You did the voice of who?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Of Snow White.

Pete Schwabba (host)

In this new

Amelie from 7000 Apart

movie that just came out.

In the new movie Snow White, yeah.

In Swedish.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So you went into the studio and like dubbed?

Yeah.

Oh, that is amazing.

Thank you.

So when you watch a Swedish version of Snow White, that's your voice.

That's gonna

Amelie from 7000 Apart

be me, yeah.

Or that is me.

I guess it's out already, so yeah.

Pete Schwabba (host)

How did you get that?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

So I've been I've been voice acting since I was 10 years old.

And so I have been going in and out of the studio a little bit.

Obviously, like when we moved here to the US, I had to kind of put that on hold for a bit.

But then now that we moved back, I get to come into the studio more.

And so it was called to a voice test, which is like an audition.

And so, yeah, I got to go in in December.

Where did you

Pete Schwabba (host)

go?

So

Amelie from 7000 Apart

it's in Stockholm.

It's at a place called IUNO.

They're a big company.

They do

they have like offices all over the world.

And yeah, so I went there and got to sing a little bit and talk a little bit.

And then it was me and I think three other girls who got to do the voice test and then they chose me.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Oh my gosh.

I got

Conrad (producer)

to choose.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Wow.

Yeah.

Pete Schwabba (host)

I was up for that too.

I'm

Amelie from 7000 Apart

happy.

Pete Schwabba (host)

If

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I didn't

Pete Schwabba (host)

get

John from 7000 Apart

it,

Pete Schwabba (host)

I'm happy

John from 7000 Apart

it was one of my friends.

Your range wasn't big enough for you apparently.

I didn't know Swedish either.

That was kind of a ding.

One of those things.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Before we get any further, it is.

birthday, we have to sing you happy birthday.

You have some musicians in suit.

We have to.

All right.

And so my question is here.

Do you want your birthday song in Swedish or in English or in both?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Oh, what do you think?

I think I should go Swedish, right?

I think, yeah, I think that'd

Amelie from 7000 Apart

be pretty cool.

Can you choose both?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Oh, yeah, if you can do it twice.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I've only had a son.

They're different.

They're different.

The Swedish song is different.

So I need you to help me, though, because we need to clap.

Oh, all right.

Swedish is very specific.

OK, we'll start with the Swedish one.

And then I need four who raise.

And technically you don't have to do it because it's like, it's your birthday, so you don't have to.

But if you want to join in, you have to.

John from 7000 Apart

The producer, you're welcome to

Amelie from 7000 Apart

do it as

John from 7000 Apart

well.

Conrad (producer)

You're welcome to do it.

Okay, so it goes

Amelie from 7000 Apart

like this.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wow, that's actually only the seventh time that's been sung

Amelie from 7000 Apart

to

Pete Schwabba (host)

me

Conrad (producer)

in Sweden.

Pete Schwabba (host)

No,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I should have

Pete Schwabba (host)

known that.

That was when the

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Horace came in.

For next year.

We'll be here for next year.

Yeah Happy birthday to you Happy birthday

Pete Schwabba (host)

Could you please bring me my handkerchief?

That was beautiful.

Thank you so much, you guys.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

That was fun.

Bilingual birthday wishes.

Of course, there you go.

I love it.

John from 7000 Apart

Maybe you'll be more memorable.

I

Amelie from 7000 Apart

think it

John from 7000 Apart

is.

Like that one time Swedes yelled at me.

Pete Schwabba (host)

No, let's okay.

So you're a bona fide and I just got it sung to me by a bona fide movie star Are you hoping to do more that kind of work?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I mean, I love it I adore it and so obviously like the more I get to do the happier I am but But I also I am aware of that I'm hard to book because I spend half of my time here in Wisconsin Right and so I take what I can get but I don't expect much.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Okay So let me ask you this John.

Do you ever yeah?

I mean now that you guys kind of have a foot into the movie world so to speak

Do

John from 7000 Apart

you have

Pete Schwabba (host)

any desire to write music for movies or

John from 7000 Apart

scores or anything?

Yeah, I mean, I mean definitely like That's something we're definitely in Interested in in like writing music and having our music in movies and TV.

We've had one song in a MTV show actually so

Amelie from 7000 Apart

far

John from 7000 Apart

But yeah, we'd love to do it more and but I have actually gotten to record at this studio as well for other actors and I got to be a stormtrooper that died in a Star Wars TV show

Yeah, that's pretty cool.

So

Amelie from 7000 Apart

that's my

Pete Schwabba (host)

claim

John from 7000 Apart

to fame.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

the one line

Pete Schwabba (host)

That's all

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I

Pete Schwabba (host)

think all Star Wars fans could die the

John from 7000 Apart

next day if they have

Pete Schwabba (host)

fun.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

He has like a Star Wars tattoo

Pete Schwabba (host)

So is that hard like

Movie music and writing music for movies.

I'm sure it's like a whole other

John from 7000 Apart

It's a very competitive field in the same way like live is or anything else.

It's very specific very niche You can like if you get to a certain size as an artist you can get your music into movies and TV a lot easier But

Amelie from 7000 Apart

if you're

John from 7000 Apart

doing it like as your main thing, it's very niched.

Yeah, but it's fun.

Yeah

Have you gotten to watch the

Pete Schwabba (host)

movie yet with you doing the voice?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I haven't.

No, because it premiered just last week and we were here and I can't find it in Swedish in Green Bay.

Sadly, they don't, they only show

Pete Schwabba (host)

the American version.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I haven't even done that yet, but I really want to.

So we'll probably go this week.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Every Thursday, we do the popcorn pick of the week here, and we have someone on to talk about their movie-watching approach and snacks they like, and then they give us a movie pick, and Frank Hermans from Green Bay, do you guys know Frank?

Yeah,

Conrad (producer)

of course

Pete Schwabba (host)

you

Amelie from 7000 Apart

do.

And

Pete Schwabba (host)

he picks Snow White.

Yeah, that's

Amelie from 7000 Apart

public as we just talked about it.

He loved it.

Yeah, oh, that's good.

I'm glad he did.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So we've got a lot to get to.

You've got a date coming up.

But do you guys want to play something before the break?

We have about five minutes.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Absolutely.

Do you want something uptempo?

Do you want something pretty?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Hey, I'm just thrilled to have you guys here.

Let's do one of each.

If you don't mind

Amelie from 7000 Apart

doing two songs, you pick what you want to do.

We can also do a verse and a chorus, and then just switch to the next one.

We can do that as

Pete Schwabba (host)

well.

I love the whole song, if

Amelie from 7000 Apart

you don't mind.

So you guys

Pete Schwabba (host)

figure out if you want to rock it first or go slow.

It's totally up to you.

John from 7000 Apart

Do you want to do it slower?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yeah, let's do that.

Pete Schwabba (host)

What's this one called?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

This one is called Soul and So Much Skars.

I

Pete Schwabba (host)

think you did this last

Amelie from 7000 Apart

time.

We did it?

Okay.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah, I love this song.

Okay,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

good.

Okay, perfect.

a childhood dreams might not ever get my break not sure that I have got what it takes I made my share of mistakes I am fine

Pete Schwabba (host)

and soma's scars

Amelie from 7000 Apart

that's a great song thank you thank you it's been really well received we we just released it about

Pete Schwabba (host)

beautiful

Amelie from 7000 Apart

two months ago and yeah we're just you got you

Pete Schwabba (host)

don't maybe don't remember this you were here probably I don't know winter three four months ago you

Amelie from 7000 Apart

had

Pete Schwabba (host)

a friend with you oh

Amelie from 7000 Apart

yeah that was yeah that must have no that was summer

Pete Schwabba (host)

someone you're collaborating

Amelie from 7000 Apart

it was summer because it was jasmine or our basis yeah

Pete Schwabba (host)

And you

Amelie from 7000 Apart

guys, I

Pete Schwabba (host)

think you played that song when you were here.

Tell us

Amelie from 7000 Apart

what

Pete Schwabba (host)

that means again.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Oh yeah, it means so much.

I struggled a lot with my mental health, especially during COVID times.

And it got really, really bad, but I did what I could.

And you know, I went to therapy and I took the pills and I tried to take care of my body and my mind and eventually things got better.

And so this song is about when things finally start to get clear again, then you start to like...

appreciate life in a whole different way again.

And you might be changed because of what you went through, but it's not just for the worse, it's actually also for the better.

Pete Schwabba (host)

That's great.

Well, I love when someone is affected by something in their life

Amelie from 7000 Apart

and

Pete Schwabba (host)

their life and then turns it into something so beautiful, some art.

Yeah, that's beautiful.

Those high notes must be tough

Amelie from 7000 Apart

when you

Pete Schwabba (host)

have a cold or something.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yeah, yeah, it goes really high.

Can

Pete Schwabba (host)

you go lower if you have to?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Oh, yeah, yeah, just tune down.

Pete Schwabba (host)

That's great.

Amelie and John are here.

They are 7,000 apart, and their name comes, this is great.

Preble was the school you guys met at.

Conrad (producer)

You

Pete Schwabba (host)

were a foreign exchange student.

John was a student there.

You guys did the long distance thing for a while,

John from 7000 Apart

and you were

Pete Schwabba (host)

7,000 kilometers

John from 7000 Apart

apart.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Three

Amelie from 7000 Apart

years.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wow, and here you are making me, and you're married, right?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yeah, yeah, we've been married for eight and a half years, do you believe it?

Pete Schwabba (host)

You guys are kids.

Wow.

All right.

They're here.

We're going to come back, spend some more time with them.

We've got a lot of other stuff, a lot of other cool stuff they've got going on.

We'll talk about that too.

And maybe if we're fortunate, we'll get them to play another song.

It's great to have you guys here and great to have all of you with me tonight on this Friday night.

It's Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Welcome back to Nightlight with Peach Bobba.

I love that Amelie is dancing in her seat

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

and

Pete Schwabba (host)

it's not even one of her own songs,

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

so

Pete Schwabba (host)

that's kind of cool.

Kate from Hayward says Ollie says happy birthday Pete.

I share my birthday with Lavar Burton Oh, wow, that's a that's a name.

I haven't heard in a while from roots and a lot of other stuff too But that's what put him on the map and rapper iced tea who sings the song arrest the president which you and Chad might recognize February 16th Does that sound familiar who's Chad Chad Holmes, maybe I don't know it doesn't sound familiar Did I sing a song I wasn't aware of on February 16th.

I don't know

But thank you for the text.

From the 608, May 6th, Sigmund Freud, Willie Mays, Orson Welles, Rudolph Valentino.

Oh, those are some cool birthdays.

Long list, I know.

Hope I share some of their attributes.

I'm sure my wife sees some Valentino in me.

That's an optimist.

And we'll do one more here.

Gordy from Oregon, that's in the 608 says November 10th.

Tracy Morgan and Sinbad, not my fault.

I would have chose a different day.

Nobody blames you for your birthday.

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

Yeah,

Pete Schwabba (host)

it's not your fault that would people brag about something like a skin color or a last name, but like you had nothing to do with it

It's

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

not like

Pete Schwabba (host)

you achieved something.

So

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

in Sweden, we have name days.

And I share my name day is Hitler's birthday.

Oh dear.

That doesn't feel good, you know what I'm saying?

Pete Schwabba (host)

That's not good, no.

It's up to you to turn things around there.

So that's what we're saying, Gordy.

Don't feel bad about your birthday.

And Sinbad and Tracy Morgan's hilarious, actually.

7,000 Apart is here in the studio.

They just performed for us.

Let's talk about some of the things you guys have coming up.

All right, so if you're in Sweden or anywhere internationally, check out the Swedish version of the new release of Snow White.

Amelie is Swedish Snow White.

She did the voice for that, so that's a really cool thing.

But let's talk about a show you guys have coming up locally, April 4th, right around the corner.

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Yes, exactly.

We're running a Kickstarter right now to fund our third album and to kind of have like, it's kind of like a rap party in a way.

So we're, we're wrapping it up on the fifth.

So the fourth will be doing one last little concert here before we head back to Sweden.

And so we're doing that at Hamlet Creek.

Do you remember what it was used to do?

No, but it's off a finger road.

Yeah.

So it's this really beautiful chapel off a finger road on the east side of Green Bay.

And yeah, we're just going to be playing some songs.

It's a free event.

We'll be playing some songs, selling some merch, just telling some stories behind the songs.

And just we're planning on a really beautiful night.

It has like this amazing acoustics.

So like everything sounds amazing in there.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Nice.

Yeah.

So how does that work with with a Kickstarter?

Like you kind of invite people.

They know the drill before they get there.

Like you're trying to finance an album.

So they make a donation like in

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

person.

Yeah.

So actually like Kickstarter isn't really donation based.

It's rewards based.

So it's more like a preset.

So it's like you can get a CD or vinyl

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

t-shirt merchandise before basically they're getting Like merchandise from the album before the album is released very cool.

It's like kind of a pre-sale essentially Yeah, the album.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah, you guys must have so many fans.

I mean like I the way I say things around here is that I discovered you But I mean you guys must have like people that

want to empty their pockets, because they know you're going places, right?

I mean, is it hard to?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

We have some incredible supporters, absolutely.

But we've also set a very ambitious goal.

So we are still very nervous that we're going to hit it or not, because Kickstarter is all or nothing.

So if we don't hit our goal, we'll get zero dollars.

So we're just really like...

But we're so thankful to everyone that's

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

supported so far.

And we're going to do our best.

We have one week left.

So we're going to do our best to hit

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

the goal.

90 people have already back the Kickstarter.

Oh, wow.

And we're about halfway.

Yeah, we're going to work hard this last week.

You got your checkbook with you?

I'll have to go home to get it.

I want to check that old bed.

I got to go.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So is that song you just played, Soul and Some of the Scars, is that on the new album?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Oh man, that's

Pete Schwabba (host)

awesome.

OK.

So the show is April 4th.

Say where it is again.

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Hamlet Creek, Wedding and Events.

It's across

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

from Pearly Gates.

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

It's

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

like a bar.

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

And there's a biker bar across

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

the street.

Yeah.

And right by Finger Road.

and here on the intersection right there.

Bikers have

Pete Schwabba (host)

money, get them

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

all

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

with us.

Yeah, exactly.

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

Do you have a title

Pete Schwabba (host)

for the album?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Why do we do what we do?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Oh, I like that.

OK, very good.

Now, wait a minute, you're going back to Sweden already.

Didn't you just get here?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Yeah, we're only here for four weeks this time, but we're going to be back all of summer to play shows.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Do you have any dates downtown Green Bay here, like out on the water or just downtown

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

here?

I'm trying to think for summer.

We, I think, have.

We're about half booked for summer.

But yeah, we are playing all over the place.

Some things we can't announce yet,

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

but

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

some really cool places that are going to be really cool.

I don't know.

I'm trying to think if we're playing anywhere downtown Green Bay this time.

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Oh, I'm trying to break my, it's really hard to keep like 50 dates in your house.

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

I'm

Pete Schwabba (host)

sure.

But you've done Hagermeister Park before.

And you weren't Summerfest last summer, right?

Yeah.

Are you going back there this year?

Can you not?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

We can't confirm.

Can't confirm we're not here right now.

I

Pete Schwabba (host)

actually said Summervest.

It's a

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

different music.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Summervest.

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

I love Summervest.

Yeah, that's a good

Pete Schwabba (host)

one.

Hopefully you make it over to Milwaukee too.

All right, so you got the title, Soul in Summer Scars and Legacy and Up to Date.

Are these two songs that are on your new album?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

So we just released Legacy a couple of weeks ago and then on the 7th, so we're gonna start releasing one new song every 7th.

So the next song will be April 7th and then May 7th, June 7th, just, you know, 7,000 of parts.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah, I love that.

What other big dates you can say that are coming this summer?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

I don't know if we have any... We're hoping to release our schedule once we wrap up the Kickstarter.

We're gonna announce like partial...

Partial tour schedule, but you know, things change so quickly too, so we won't know the full schedule until probably June.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Okay.

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

Oh, really?

Do you

Pete Schwabba (host)

have some of the books that before you, or do you guys do it all?

Amelie from 7,000 Apart

It's a mix, so we book quite a bit, and then we work with Bananas Entertainment and some other bookings.

Northern Lights and Entertainment, like we have

Linnea from 7,000 Apart

like Omega, Entertainment, T.C.

There's a bunch of different ones from across the state, but then we also book ourselves as well.

That's a lot of stuff,

Pete Schwabba (host)

yeah.

We're going to do the news.

Civic Media's news team is going to tell you what's up, because you need to know.

And we will read some texts.

Who do you share birthday with?

That's our question tonight.

At the end of the night, we'll decide who has the coolest celebrity birthday to match with yours.

And Terry Barr is here, folks.

It's a bar ban Friday night.

It's all about the music tonight.

7,000 Apart is here.

They're going to perform for us when we come back.

It's Pete Schwabba in Nightlight on the Civic Media radio network.

Pete Chwaba

Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.

This is Night Light with Pete Chwaba.

Your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.

And now a guy who wants planted evidence so he could make a citizen's arrest.

Pete

Chwaba.

It is a Friday night edition of Nightlight.

It's a bar band Friday.

That means our friend Terry Barr is here, one of the hosts of Max Inc Radio.

She will be along shortly to bring us new music and sparkling conversation.

And Terry chimed in on the stream and said, love 7,000 apart.

Yay, yay, yay.

Yeah, Terry's awesome.

She'll be here after you guys.

It's all about the music tonight.

We're reading your texts.

Our question tonight is, who do you share a celebrity birthday with?

At the end of the show, we're gonna decide who has the coolest celebrity birthday share, and we will announce that.

Terry will help us, I hope, if you're listening, Terry.

Tom from New Berlin, in regard to our guest, 7,000 Apart, who you can see if you're watching on the stream.

Tom says, spectacular.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Well, thank you.

Could not agree

Pete Chwaba

more.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Very,

Pete Chwaba

very well said time.

And we discovered, too, during the break that 7000 apart, both Amelie and John don't really have a lot of A-listers they share birthdays with.

John from 7000 Apart

We've got to be them.

That's what we're saying.

Exactly.

This is my mission in life now.

Like, this is all I want.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

It's two

John from 7000 Apart

birthdays.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Only

John from 7000 Apart

this.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Exactly.

We have a lot of competition right there.

Pete Chwaba

Exactly.

Or you could do worse and you could have who Sherry shares a birthday with.

Steven Segal.

with barely talented Steven Seagal.

Bruce in Fishburg says, people born on my birthday May 10 include Bono Dave Mason.

Feeling all right, great song.

Fred Astaire and the longest running SNL cast member, Keenan Thompson.

Born on my birthday in the same year as me, 1957, includes Sid Vicious.

Oh dude.

That's a lot.

Bruce from Fishburg.

He's going to be tough to beat.

We'll read a few more of your texts in a bit.

On the stream, Jim Denney is watching and says, nice to see you too on Nightlight.

Again, how is your Kickstarter going?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yes, we've hit 50%, but we only have a week to go now.

So we're feeling the burn a little bit.

But we believe in our audience, and we believe that people want to support art, and so we keep fighting.

Pete Chwaba

That's so tough, because everyone that got you to 50% are tried-and-true blue fans.

100%.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

And

Pete Chwaba

if you can't get the album made at least this time...

They suffer too, and they're

Amelie from 7000 Apart

just

Pete Chwaba

bummed for you guys

Amelie from 7000 Apart

as you are.

Yeah, because if we don't hit the goal, we get nothing.

So yeah, it's an all or nothing thing.

Pete Chwaba

Wow, that's incredible.

So let's do one more here.

I asked this earlier in the show.

Where are we?

Susan from McFarland says, great show as usual, Pete.

Happy birthday to you.

Thank you very much, Susan.

Also just added these song singer and song, oh, singer songwriters to my playlist.

Her voice is absolutely wonderful.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Thank you.

Was it

Pete Chwaba

Susan?

Susan

Amelie from 7000 Apart

from McFarland.

Thank you, Susan.

Pete Chwaba

And I'm going to be checking them out.

Let's do that.

Where can people find all of your?

your works.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yeah.

So we're pretty easy to find because very few music artists start their like names with a number.

So if you just type in seven zero zero zero zero, you can normally find us.

But if you want to type in the whole thing, it's seven zero zero zero APRT one word.

Seven thousand apart.

Pete Chwaba

Yeah.

No spaces.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

No space in our lives.

So that's why we took that out.

I

Pete Chwaba

like that.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Very well

Pete Chwaba

done.

All

Amelie from 7000 Apart

right.

So check

Pete Chwaba

out all their stuff there.

They're on Instagram right now.

We're doing a live stream.

here with 7,000 apart.

Kate from the 715 says, oops, Ollie was having a senior moment.

Oh, Kate just outed Ollie.

What did Ollie

do?

She called in and she already answered though.

And then I'll read this one because I mentioned this earlier Bruce from Fitchburg says Gordon Sumner is Sting's birth name You were so close mentioning the police Andy Summers has a similar sounding name He does and I thought

that

was and then I thought always like I think there's a Sumner Redstone is like some big CEO So I

Amelie from 7000 Apart

was

Pete Chwaba

totally all over the place, but Sting's a good one.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

All right, so we got

Pete Chwaba

7,000 apart here

We would I would love to hear something another tune from this album.

You're trying to get made in your Kickstarter campaign.

You've got legacy up to date.

I mean, what do you guys want to play?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

We would love to play you up to date because I don't think we play the full thing for like anyone barely.

So

Pete Chwaba

like

Amelie from 7000 Apart

and this this song is coming out on the 7th.

Pete Chwaba

So this

Amelie from 7000 Apart

will be yeah.

So this will be our next single.

Pete Chwaba

Love

Amelie from 7000 Apart

it.

That is the wrong song.

Let me find the right

Pete Chwaba

one.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Take your time.

Goodness.

And

Pete Chwaba

April 7th.

Okay, this is up to date.

Comes out April 7th.

7,000 apart on Night Light in the studio.

Take it

Amelie from 7000 Apart

away.

Tipped her around, it's not a fair game It's my understanding that I'm insane

That

Pete Chwaba

is a fun one.

Yeah, you get people dancing with that one a bit,

John from 7000 Apart

huh?

We hope so.

The summer.

We haven't played it for people like,

Pete Chwaba

you're up there rocking like crazy and people are just staring.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Oh, it happens.

Does it really?

Oh, yeah, really?

We get music.

We get all kinds of audiences.

You know, we play for tens of thousands of people every summer, I would say.

Yeah.

And so like, yeah, you get every type of person.

You

John from 7000 Apart

see everything, yeah.

You just play through it.

you do and

Amelie from 7000 Apart

then you adjust then you're like okay they weren't really into this let's try this and then maybe that works better um

Pete Chwaba

john how often you haven't i don't think you've uh sang anything tonight no i've

John from 7000 Apart

heard you sing you got a great voice you sing background how

Pete Chwaba

often does that happen and are you kind of bummed when

Your wife doesn't let you sing?

I

John from 7000 Apart

think there's certain songs you know where like I'm definitely like yeah I can sing this okay and then there's other songs where it's like this is really hard really this is one of those songs where it's like I don't think like you know if you just hear omly out of nowhere you're like yeah that's probably an easy song to sing or like yeah if it sounds moderately hard

You're like, it's probably not that hard though.

But she's singing, you know, like skyscraper Demi Lovato level, like some of the highest

Amelie from 7000 Apart

pop

John from 7000 Apart

songs that have ever been sung.

So like, as a male vocalist, you're like, this is like high tenor range, you know, and I'm not always there, you know.

Yeah.

Yeah.

But it must

Pete Chwaba

make you more engaged, like, and especially when you're on stage in front of a live audience, I would imagine there's more for you to do.

if

Amelie from 7000 Apart

you're singing too.

Yeah, he does.

It's just also that these are the new songs, so you're still learning the guitar parts.

So usually we'll play it for a while, it's just me, and then John will start singing more and more.

That makes

Pete Chwaba

sense.

You've got like 50 dates coming up this summer, you said.

Outdoor must be fun, because you're out in the sun

Amelie from 7000 Apart

and people are

Pete Chwaba

having a good time.

But I would imagine as a singer, and maybe even as a musician, inside is better acoustically.

Do you have a preference inside outside

John from 7000 Apart

in the

Pete Chwaba

summer?

John from 7000 Apart

Very different.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

I really like outside, especially because Wisconsin summers are so humid, which is really good for your

Pete Chwaba

vocal

Amelie from 7000 Apart

cords.

while like inside will be, you know, like the AC, it might be really dry.

Yeah.

So in one way, I prefer outside.

But again, outside is so temperamental, you know, because it can be the sound gets

John from 7000 Apart

absorbed as well by just

Like

Amelie from 7000 Apart

it goes into

John from 7000 Apart

the abyss, you know,

Pete Chwaba

right?

John from 7000 Apart

You just like send it out there and it just goes into the

Amelie from 7000 Apart

abyss, you know And sometimes you start off and you're just wetting, you know, sometimes we have direct sunlight on us We've played in

John from 7000 Apart

like 105 degrees like

Amelie from 7000 Apart

in a wooden box basically before so it was like a sauna goes down and all of a sudden it's almost freezing So like you need to be prepared for a lot of things.

That's interesting

Pete Chwaba

and what about

You've got, uh, I totally spit.

Oh, what do you guys listen to?

Like when

Amelie from 7000 Apart

you're

Pete Chwaba

not playing or recording, what kind of music do you guys like to chill out

Amelie from 7000 Apart

to?

So right now, because I got the Snow White thing, I was like, I need to listen to every Disney song ever

Pete Chwaba

made.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Oh, wow.

That would keep you busy.

Yeah, I've been listening to a lot of Disney and a lot of musical theater lately.

I've been on that kind of

John from 7000 Apart

kick.

I listen a lot to, uh, just like what new pop songs that come out generally.

Like I, uh, I've, I'm actually producing this whole album.

So.

I've been spending an insane amount of time like listening to super boring things for normal people but like drum parts and like bass parts and like how did they put that all together and like like dissecting different songs and like that's it's a lot of fun but it's also like sometimes you drive yourself crazy too but uh yeah

Pete Chwaba

right so then you

John from 7000 Apart

just need like refresh yourself with some random pop songs that you can be like oh this needs to be changed and you know like stuff

Pete Chwaba

where it's like

John from 7000 Apart

very basic but not always like

the cleanest production and sometimes that is pop songs on New Music Friday stuff too or you know stuff like from a long time ago to where they did like single takes for the whole song you know oh wow it's fun

It's

Pete Chwaba

interesting, I didn't realize until several years ago how much production really can kick an album up to another level.

Like you got

John from 7000 Apart

the

Pete Chwaba

lyrics, you got the music, it's all great, but let's do it here.

You guys, thank you so much for being here tonight.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Thank you for

Pete Chwaba

having

John from 7000 Apart

us.

It's

Pete Chwaba

always

Amelie from 7000 Apart

a great time.

Pete Chwaba

Come back in

the summer, maybe?

Amelie from 7000 Apart

We'd love that.

Of course.

Pete Chwaba

All right,

check them out.

April 4th, one more time, quick plug.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yes, so April 4th, Hamlet Creek wedding and events.

It's on Finger Road on the east side of Green Bay.

We were doing a free show.

at 7.30 p.m.

Pete Chwaba

Outstanding.

We've got a lot of Milwaukee Madison listeners too,

Amelie from 7000 Apart

so get some of

Pete Chwaba

those dates and come back next

Amelie from 7000 Apart

time.

Oh, we'll do

Pete Chwaba

that.

John from 7000 Apart

Check out the Kickstarter too.

Amelie from 7000 Apart

Yes, please.

Check out the Kickstarter.

We owe you forever.

Awesome.

All right,

Pete Chwaba

John Anomaly from 7,000 Aparts.

We'll be

John from 7000 Apart

right

Pete Chwaba

back.

We're going to read some texts, and then Terry Barr is here at 7.35.

It's a Bar Band Friday night.

We'll be right back on Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Pete Schwabba

Oh John Anomaly are just leaving and I want to I want to share with them they can hear me from the hall PJ says a song released on my birthday okay

That's kind of cool.

And then he gives a thumbs up at Appleton tomorrow night the Northland Sports Pub and Grill on Northland Ave 8 p.m.

Is that where you guys are?

All right.

Thank you, PJ.

He's sharing that you can see 7,000 apart tomorrow night at the Northland Sports Pub and Grill on Northland Ave 8 p.m.

And it's free.

Oh, man, I like those prices.

He says 7,000 apart is scheduled to play and it's 340 West Northland Ave, Appleton.

Thank you, PJ.

Well, public service announcement there for you guys.

Thanks again, you guys.

All right.

So, all right, Terry Barr will be here in just a few minutes, folks.

It's a Bar Band Friday night.

We do this every Friday, just about every Friday.

Oh, we had rocker last week, though.

Co-host

Yes, we did.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, so he had some big shoes to fill.

And then he did really well.

And now Terry has some big shoes to fill.

It's these Maxine people.

They're all just interchangeable and fantastic people.

Pamela from Wisconsin Rapids.

She says April 9th is her birthday.

Actress, I think it's, I don't know if it's spelled Michael Learned.

I remember her, but I've heard it said Michelle too.

Like she just spells Michelle differently.

Either way, I'm familiar with her.

She says played the mother on the Waltons.

Oh, there you go.

Pamela, thank you so much.

Thank you for playing.

I don't know.

My wife is a huge she actually she likes little house in the prairie, but the Waltons were a huge show in the 70s Bruce from Fitchburg says for movie lovers like you Pete I should also mention that all the characters in the 2003 James Mangold movie identity have the same birthday May 10th.

That's Strange Wow.

Oh, I thought he meant her red hereditary.

Is that the like the one that's so scary.

No one wants to watch it.

Co-host

Oh, I don't think I've seen identity

Pete Schwabba

though.

Co-host

Yeah, I think that is the scary movie

Pete Schwabba

He says that includes the characters played by John Cusack, Ray Leota and Amanda Pete.

Everyone has the same birthday.

That's nuts.

I wonder if they did that as like a marketing thing, but really who cares?

Like who's going to see a movie?

Hey, we got the same birthdays.

We got a two on Rotten Tomatoes, but come and see it because we have all that is a really interesting bit of trivia though.

Thank you, Bruce.

Oh, I should have read the read.

He sent another text in parentheses.

It says just in the movie.

like that's a gimmick in the movie.

They don't really have the same birthdays.

He says, I guess I should have said spoiler alert.

All right, well, either way, thank you, Bruce.

All right, so on social media today, folks, and you can still share who you share a celebrity birthday with, Terry Barrow will be here in a few minutes.

And on social media, we put Amanda Nimmer, who does such a great job here with social media and producing.

And she's been on this show before.

She's fantastic.

She put the question out on Facebook and said, who do you share a celebrity birthday with?

And Christie Barlamot and I share the same birthday.

So she put Pete Schwabba.

Christie is always constantly giving me a hard time that I'm a celebrity.

Just because I dated Taylor Swift.

Co-host

Well, that's just one.

You

Pete Schwabba

got Sydney Sweeney, too?

Sydney Sweeney.

That didn't last long, though.

I don't want to get into that.

Co-host

Nicole Kidman?

SPEAKER_??

No.

Pete Schwabba

No, I'm not.

Nothing against her.

She's beautiful, but lovely personality and very intelligent.

You know how it is.

You don't always connect with every celebrity you meet, right?

Co-host

I heard that she liked you and you didn't like her back.

Pete Schwabba

I kept her in the friend zone.

And I don't think she appreciated that.

I'm just a regular.

I'm a meat and potatoes average guy.

And that drives celebrities crazy when you reject them.

Because you know what?

Vince Vaughn wanted to hang out with me and I said, I don't know.

I just don't see us being friends.

That's enough.

Amanda Nimmer says, Colin Joest.

Does this mean I can marry Scarlett Johansson?

Another one of my exes.

Thank you, Amanda.

They're kind of a nice couple.

Every once in a while, you see a couple like a Hollywood couple and you go, eh.

And then some are really cool.

I think Colin Joest, who I don't know, or Scarlett Johansson, other than when we dated, they seem like they'd be cool.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Maximilian Blasca, Frank Darabont.

That's a great one.

And he says he directed Shawshank, Green Mile, and The Myth.

Of course.

I know who Frank Darabont is.

That's a great one, Maximilian, especially because Max Blasca started a film festival in Madison.

that focuses on mental health, which is really cool.

And he says he was the first to make a Stephen King.

He was one of the first to make a Stephen King dollar baby movie.

Okay.

Two dollar baby creators who share the 28th of January birthday.

Oh, that's kind of cool.

Last one on the ladder.

Adaptation is mine.

He did Woman in the Room.

Max, that's awesome.

We got to get Max back on the show.

Dan Davies says he shares a birthday with Jesus of Nazareth.

Not to be confused with Jesus of Decatur, Illinois.

Larry Zonka, haven't heard that name in a while.

Jimmy Buffett and Humphrey Bogart.

Oh, those are cool.

Wow.

Dan's in the running.

Those are fantastic.

Luke Mathers, Civic Media's own Luke Mathers says George Washington he shares a birthday with.

Co-host

Who else did that?

Didn't

Pete Schwabba

we have another

Co-host

George Washington on the show?

So that's February 22nd.

Pete Schwabba

Okay.

Co-host

Do you think they celebrated birthdays?

back then.

Pete Schwabba

Well, yeah.

Why do you think they wouldn't?

I don't know.

It's Chuck E. Cheese.

But I mean, you know, up there on Mount Vernon and across the Potomac, of course,

Co-host

I feel like they wouldn't care back then that they turn to your older.

Why do you think they wouldn't care?

I don't know.

Just just a thought.

Pete Schwabba

All right.

You might be honest.

I'm I assume they celebrate.

But I have no idea.

I'm not as old as I look.

PJ on the stream says April 7.

I share my birthday with Jackie Chan.

Awesome one.

Cool.

Jackie Chan, I've probably seen three of his movies, but he's just so hard not to like.

Every talk show he goes on, he's got this great energy.

Dan Davies also says, my favorite fullback, not named John Brockington, former packer, or John Riggins.

My favorite Margarita drinking crooner, that would be Jimmy Buffett, and my favorite martini drinking actor.

Two out of the three people he shares a birthday with, he's making an alcohol connection.

Well done, Dan Davies, friend of the show.

Eric Ratzack from Ask Your Mother.

Love that dude.

He says, Jake Gyllenhaal, same date and year.

Co-host

That's pretty

Pete Schwabba

cool.

He's got to get extra points for that for the same year.

Todd Michaels, Civic Media's own WGBW and WIS's own.

The producer of Mino and the Mayor says, Peter Gabriel, Stockard Channing, Jerry Springer, and Prince Jackson.

Who's that?

I have no idea.

I gotta look that up for a break.

He says, what a group.

These are all awesome.

That's a good question.

Who did you say you shared it with?

Co-host

Bill Burr,

Pete Schwabba

Kate Upton,

Co-host

and Judy Garland.

You were so down on yourself, too.

I

Pete Schwabba

just didn't think it was that

Co-host

cool.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, but it's out of your control.

Because

Co-host

there's no sports people

Pete Schwabba

in there.

That's why.

Oh, my God.

Tom from New Berlin says, I vote Luke and George Washington.

Luke, you got a fan.

Hey, it's Peach Wabba and Nightlight.

We're coming right back.

We'll read some more of your texts.

And Terry Barr from Max, Ink Radio will be here joining us for Bar Band Friday night.

It's Peach Wabba and Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

Co-host

Network.

Conrad

Time to check out original music with Bar Band Friday on Night Light.

Now your host Pete Schwabba and special guest Terry Barr.

Pete Schwabba

Welcome back.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am Pete Schwabba.

This is Night Light and it is, as you just heard, a Bar Band Friday night.

Conrad, who's our favorite Bar Band Friday night guest?

Terry Barr.

Hands down, as much as we liked rocker.

They're both lovely people.

But Terry, how are you?

Oh, I don't think she can hear us.

Can you hear us, Terry?

I can tell by the look on her face.

She has kind of a look of disdain.

She's obviously struggling with her sound.

We'll get Terry set up in no time.

And we have great, actually two songs that she brought with us tonight.

We were gonna ask her to help us.

figure out who is our text winner tonight and has the coolest celebrity birthday.

But I think that's unfair to Terri because I don't think she's been cataloging all of this information throughout the night.

So I think you and I should probably just decide.

So there is a few more minutes.

If you want to get in on the fun folks, we're asking you to share who your celebrity birthday is.

I have Julia Styles, Vince Vaughn and Lady Gaga.

I'm very proud of all those, even though I had nothing to do with it.

So that is what those are my celebrity birthdays Conrad has who did you have again con?

I keep forgetting

Conrad

hi Bill

Pete Schwabba

Burr

Conrad

Yeah, and Judy Garland

Pete Schwabba

and Judy Garland that's a That's a giant of a celebrity.

I know it doesn't mean that much to you You thought Eli Manning was cooler.

So okay, okay Terry can hear us now.

Oh, do we have Terry?

Hey, there she okay, so I just gave you this humongous

introduction, and I said, Conrad, who's our favorite bar band Friday guest?

And he said, Terry Barr, and I could tell by the look on your face, you were like, I'm like, I don't think we have Terry.

Terry Barr (guest)

So I take one Friday night off and I forget how to, yeah, how to connect with you.

Pete Schwabba

Well, we figured it out.

You hung with us like you always do.

Thank you so much.

Terry Barr (guest)

And Oh, it was my fault, not yours.

Pete Schwabba

Doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_??

But

Pete Schwabba

7,000 apart was here and I know your big fans of theirs as well and they we had so much fun It's kind of an all-music theme tonight, which is great.

Terry Barr (guest)

Yes.

I love it especially for your birthday

Pete Schwabba

Thank you very much our so our question of the night is who do you share a celebrity birthday with?

Do you know who your who your celebrity birthday is?

Terry Barr (guest)

Oh No, it's okay.

I have two good ones that I know of

My birthday is January 30th.

Pete Schwabba

OK.

Terry Barr (guest)

And I have Christian Bale.

Oh, that's a good one.

How about that?

Yeah.

And Phil Collins.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, that's a great one, too.

Terry Barr (guest)

Yeah.

Pete Schwabba

Take me home.

Love that song.

Terry Barr (guest)

Me, too.

Me, too.

I feel pretty good about those, too.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah.

That's that's some some heavy hitters.

Conrad was on a ladder.

He didn't think he had special people.

Conrad

I mean.

Pete Schwabba

But Bill Burr, Lady Gaga and Judy Garland.

That's one of

Conrad

the.

Kate Upton, Kate Upton.

Wait, who did I say?

Pete Schwabba

Your birthday

Conrad

girl.

Pete Schwabba

Lady Gaga.

Okay.

Lady Gaga, yeah.

So

Terry Barr (guest)

they're all good.

That's kind

Pete Schwabba

of hot.

We're all winners.

Terry Barr (guest)

Yeah.

Yes.

Absolutely.

So what are you doing for your birthday, Pete?

I'm going to be nosy now.

You

Pete Schwabba

know, I'm kind of, I'm not old.

I'm immature and I feel young.

So.

I'm going to go out and party like it's 1999.

No, I'm, I don't really, uh, my son surprised me last night.

He drove up from Milwaukee and

Terry Barr (guest)

got there at

Pete Schwabba

about 1130 and we hung out and we're going to watch a movie tonight.

And that's one of our favorite things to do.

So we'll watch some, a movie, maybe throw in midnight run or something and just hang out.

And then we're going to do some dinner and stuff like that with some family tomorrow.

So it's

Terry Barr (guest)

very mellow, but it's good.

That's the

Pete Schwabba

way I

Terry Barr (guest)

like it.

No, it sounds perfect to me.

And what a nice surprise from the kiddo.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, it's fantastic.

And it was, yeah, he's a great kid.

I'm fortunate.

Terry Barr (guest)

Oh, good.

Pete Schwabba

I like him a little better than my daughter.

She doesn't even mind that.

So that's how great my kids are.

Terry Barr (guest)

Wow.

Pete Schwabba

She knows I'm kidding.

That's all we do is give each other

Terry Barr (guest)

a hand.

Okay, I hope so, because I'm thinking,

Pete Schwabba

uh-oh.

It's very dysfunctional.

Listen, if you can get up to Marinette tomorrow night, Terry, you're welcome.

Join us for some Italian food.

Think about it.

Terry Barr (guest)

Conrad, you too.

Okay, well, thank you.

And I would love to talk to your daughter.

Pete Schwabba

She won't be there.

See, that's my whole point.

But you can pick up Conrad on the way.

and Shirley

Conrad

Tumples were on

Pete Schwabba

me.

Conrad

I think I have plans.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, you got plans, Conrad?

Are you going to look up Eli Manning stats and sit in your apartment in your bachelor band?

Conrad

March Madness has, you know,

Pete Schwabba

tomorrow.

Terry Barr (guest)

Oh, yes.

That's true.

Yes.

Well, listen.

I have a boy here who's in the basement watching March Madness right now.

That

Pete Schwabba

did not sound good, Terry.

I'm not going to lie to you.

Terry Barr (guest)

Oh, sorry.

It's my husband.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, I'm so glad you cleared that up.

Yeah,

Terry Barr (guest)

I thought once you said that, yeah.

Pete Schwabba

It's so great to have you here, as always.

We're talking tonight about the band, the Jimmy's.

So tell us everything.

Terry Barr (guest)

This band is just incredible.

You know, they're they're blues, but they're rock, but they're funk, but they're they're a little bit of everything.

They've got the horn section.

They've got

I want to say every musician in the band on their own as a you know say they play trumpet or saxophone or whatever every single one of them has won a wisconsin area music industry award on their own but then as a band they can't win anymore they're in the hall of fame now because they won as many times as they could

Pete Schwabba

no kidding

Terry Barr (guest)

and yeah

and same with the mamas because they're in the Madison Area Music Association Awards area.

Again, they have won every award possible.

So they're working on a brand new album right now.

That's so cool to hear because sometimes don't you wonder

Where do these bands keep coming up with these songs?

And overall, Jimmy Vagley, who is the lead singer, he plays keys and he plays organ in the jimmies.

He writes almost all the songs or he's inspired by someone in the band to write a song or something in his life.

But I feel like I would run out of ideas after a while.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, okay.

Especially after all those awards and like, what else can you do, right?

Terry Barr (guest)

Yeah, well here's the best thing and I think this is one of those stories that that can tell anybody Never give up if you think you have an interest in doing this so Jimmy vaguely is a farm kid and he still has a farm his farm and I don't know how he does it because he farms all throughout the spring summer, especially he's a he's a crop farmer

But he plays shows like crazy, of course, all spring and summer.

So I don't know how he keeps that whole schedule rolling, how he even keeps his eyes open.

Oh my goodness.

But his dad, also a farmer, was in a polka band.

And so his dad gave Jimmy his trumpet to play in band in high school.

And this is in the Nuglarist area.

Jimmy ends up

wanting to play keyboard and goof around on the organ.

And he doesn't like trumpet so much, but he does what he has to do.

He flunks band in

Pete Schwabba

high school.

That's not that rare, though, right?

That someone just wasn't a good student, but they had this talent like that you couldn't describe, right?

Terry Barr (guest)

Right, right.

This is one of my favorite stories.

And obviously I can't tell it the way he does.

And I think now he's told it so many times, maybe it's not as exciting to him anymore, but I think it's still one of those gems that you hear from someone who then has turned around and not only created this incredible band that everybody, I mean, every show they do is packed.

as many people as you can get in a room.

They do a Jamaican tour.

It's always sold out.

Everybody wants to go with them.

They're just so much fun, so down to earth.

And then knowing some of these backstories, it makes you really laugh.

By the way, Jimmy and his band director did become friends later in life.

So that's OK.

Pete Schwabba

All was forgiven.

Terry Barr (guest)

Yeah.

Yeah.

I think it's all good now.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, that's so great.

Yeah.

What should we do first, Terry?

We've got two songs.

What do you want to, what should we lead with?

Terry Barr (guest)

Oh, I think you guys picked one.

Did we come in?

Ain't

Pete Schwabba

seen

Conrad

nothing.

I listen to it and it's fantastic.

Pete Schwabba

Well, let's lead.

Is that good, Terry?

Can we leave with that one?

Let's

Terry Barr (guest)

do

Pete Schwabba

it.

Yeah, this one is really upbeat.

Brought to you by Way of Terry Bart and Maxink Radio.

Let's hear it.

It's the Jimmy's ain't seen nothing.

They must be a great live band.

Terry Barr (guest)

Oh my goodness.

And the whole reason I brought them to the show, they are our headliner for the mama cares benefit happening on Sunday.

It's in Madison at the high noon saloon, but everybody is welcome.

We know the Jimmy's bring a crowd from all around the state.

So we think it's going to be a great show and it's for a good cause that Mama Cares, Madison Area Music Association Cares, helps other musicians in time crisis.

And the Jimmy's have had a gentleman in their band that needed a little help when he had a heart attack.

So they play because they want to and they want to be there and give back.

So it's very cool.

Pete Schwabba

Should we should we talk about Kelly now?

Terry?

Would you like to?

I would.

I'm just trying to time out because we've got a couple texts

Terry Barr (guest)

we've got

Pete Schwabba

to get to and then we have to announce our favorite birthday celebrities but I want to hear, I love this song and I want to hear it so let's not make sure we don't run out of time.

Terry Barr (guest)

Okay, otherwise I'm happy to listen to some of your texts.

Pete Schwabba

Well, maybe we'll make you do that when we come back from the break.

Kind of that sound.

And then we can go out on Kelly's song.

I would love that, actually.

That would be a great

Terry Barr (guest)

time.

Oh, yeah.

I'll just hang out here with you.

Pete Schwabba

OK, cool.

Let's do that.

I'm going to read a couple of texts.

We'll go to the break.

Terry Barr (guest)

We'll come

Pete Schwabba

back and hear Kelly's song.

Jim from Brookfield says, John Lennon's birthday, October 9th.

Jim from Brookfield, happy birthday, Pete.

Thank you, Jim.

And PJ on the stream says, happy birthday, Pete.

We are Aries.

Yes, we are.

PJ.

Whatever our most valiant stream textures.

Love it.

Thank you steady Eddie.

We'll

Steady Eddie wrote a couple chapters.

So we'll do that after the break and we'll hear all about Kelly and another song and we'll announce our contest winners.

There's no prizes.

It's just fun.

Terry, that's how we roll here.

It's like a gentleman's bed, you know.

Terry Barr (guest)

All

Pete Schwabba

right.

Terry Barr (guest)

This is always fun.

Pete Schwabba

It's awesome when you're here.

Terry Barr is here.

It's Barbie and Friday night and we are coming right back.

It's Peach Wamba and Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

Conrad

Network.

Pete (host)

This is Nightlight and it is a bar band Friday night.

Our pal Terry Barr is here.

Conrad is working the board.

We're having all kinds of fun.

It is my birthday and it's fun.

It's fun, Terry.

I've never made a big deal about my birthday, but when other people kind of send you messages, it just makes you feel good.

And now I'm like, I can't run away from it.

I have a radio show, so I have to talk about my birthday, right?

Terry Barr

I know.

Pete (host)

All right.

So we had a contest and we decided we were going to name our favorites who texted in who their celebrity birthday counterparts were.

So Conrad's winner is Civic Media's own Rich Luccasio because Rich shares a birthday with Jonah Hill.

Terry Barr

Oh, no.

Pete (host)

I love Jonah Hill.

Super bad.

Now.

Terry Barr

That's like a perfect combination of those two together.

Pete (host)

I agree.

I totally agree.

And my winner is Bob Sheehan from the 608.

He shares a birthday with Sigmund Freud, Willie Mays, Orson Welles, and Valentino.

That guy has got some heavy hitters.

He's got a sports icon who you could argue is the best baseball player ever.

Freud, we all know what he did.

Everything's about sex.

Orson Welles from Wisconsin and Valentino, who is described

I thought he was a fashion and a model.

He's an Italian actor, pop icon and sex symbol.

Professional sex symbol.

I went for that for about a month, and it didn't work out, so I threw in the towel.

That's my winner.

Bob from the 608, Rich LaCasio, thank you all of you for your texts.

They were so great.

Fun birthday wishes, I appreciate that.

And thank you for sharing who you share birthdays with.

I'm gonna read Steady Eddie's text, and then we are gonna talk to Terry about one more fantastic artist, Steady Eddie writes, Happy Birthday.

Peach Guava, aka Peach Cobbler, aka Detached Retina.

AKA the Schwabenator.

Or whatever the hell your real name is.

All these aliases make me think you're a man on the run, going from town to town in search of love, refuge, and the one-armed mad who you claim you saw running from the scene of a crime at the Marinette Kmart in 1987 with a Snickers bar in his hand.

It's time to face the music.

Turn yourself in, Peach Guava.

My birthday bro, Nobel Prize winner Bob Dylan.

That's pretty good, steady, Eddie.

Yeah.

Steady Eddie says, Mike drop, I win game over.

Speaking of prize winners, all I need to know now is where do I pick up my Verlo mattress and can I have it delivered?

Steady Eddie did not win the birthday contest, but you might have won the text contest.

Thank you so much, buddy, as always, and thank you for the birthday wishes.

Everybody.

Tom from New Berlin says, enjoying booze, rock, summer feelings.

All right, Tom.

Yeah, that's a good.

for the for the jimmies booze rock summer feeling can she just almost hear that on a riverbank or something i love it uh my guests uh seven thousand apart i'd like to thank them conrad thank you for that compilation that you hijacked from another new station to play

Todd Michael.

I just

Kelly Hepper (guest musician)

gave him the name.

They just wrote with

Pete (host)

it.

It was awesome.

Bruce from Fitchburg also says, forgot to say happy birthday Pete.

No problem, Bruce.

Thank you for being a part of the show.

Everybody, text and calls alike.

You guys are the best.

Terry Barr is here.

Tell us about Kelly and then let's go out and just end the show with an awesome tune if you're okay with that.

Terry Barr

I am so okay

Pete (host)

with that.

Terry Barr

I'm just loving having this fun with you for your birthday.

Pete (host)

I'm so glad you're here.

You're the best.

Thank you so much, my friend.

You're always so much fun to have

Terry Barr

on the show.

I could have bowed out just for you and 7,000 apart to continue the show,

Pete (host)

but thanks for

Terry Barr

watching me be here.

Pete (host)

No, we've got like a Joe DiMaggio hitting streak going in here with Barbie on Friday night, so we can't

Terry Barr

do that.

Oh my gosh.

Okay, I'll take it.

Pete (host)

I'll take

Terry Barr

it.

All right.

Okay, so Kelly Hepper.

She is so fascinating.

She's got this, um, you know, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac kind of has that aura.

Yeah.

mystical.

That's Kelly Hepper.

And Kelly Hepper is very much into believing that music and art is a healing form.

And if you give it to others, it helps others as well.

So she has been writing that type of music for well, more than 25 years.

And I can't believe that.

And even though that comes from her website, I have met her in person.

She doesn't look old enough to have been writing music for 25 years.

Pete (host)

Isn't that something?

Geez.

Terry Barr

Yeah.

She is just she's a gorgeous person inside and out and knowing why she does music and what it means to her and why she gives it to everyone else.

I just think that's a wonderful thing

Pete (host)

for someone.

I

Terry Barr

know.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean, it's not good unless you give it away.

Right.

Pete (host)

Absolutely.

Boy, that's really well said.

So, well, why don't we play her song and we'll just end the show on that Terry, is that?

I

Terry Barr

love

Pete (host)

it.

So, where can we see tomorrow night?

Who do you have on?

I don't know if I asked you that tonight.

Terry Barr

Well, Kelly Hepper, we are still continuing.

I know you talked to Rocker last Friday.

We are still, he's doing great, isn't

Pete (host)

he?

He sure is.

It was great to talk to him.

It was so much fun.

Oh my gosh.

Terry Barr

And and he was never a bigger guy, but all you can see him just getting fit and feeling good and taking charge and I'm so happy.

He's all right.

Pete (host)

Oh me too.

He still

Terry Barr

has some restrictions.

So our show is not full

Pete (host)

of

Terry Barr

steam So Kelly is coming in she'll probably play what we've been doing is maybe two

Three songs tops live on air

Pete (host)

awesome

Terry Barr

tomorrow night.

Pete (host)

Well, let's get to it So people get a taste of it tune in tomorrow night folks for maxing radio six to twelve Terry.

Thank you so much as always have a great We thank you very much.

Thank you everybody.

Have a great night.

Good night, Wisconsin.

Here is Kelly

Kelly Hepper (guest musician)

Hepper

to help me see.

I looked in the mirror and felt the energy.

Teach me the way to love more clearly.

I asked for courage

face my enemies.

I ask for wisdom.

This is Nightlight. Great to have you with me tonight, folks. On this Monday night, I am Pete Schwabba, riding shotgun as always. Not always, but as usual. Conrad, the K-man, Krieger. Or is it Kruger, Kroger? I don't know what's going on with your last name, but... One of those was good. Ezekiel Drews will be here at 7.35 tonight, folks, to discuss Ed Gein, the musical, which will be playing in Oshkosh April 4th through the 6th.

I would love to attend that, and I'm anxious to see that play, but I will be in Madison this year at the Wisconsin Film Festival, as I am every year, representing...

PBS Wisconsin and introducing films and hosting Q&As and having a grand old time at what is one of the most underrated and really cool film festivals around the Wisconsin Film Festival. And playing at the film festival is a film called A Road at Night, a documentary about former UW Madison men's basketball player and coach Howard Moore. It will screen this year on Sunday.

I believe it's April 6th at the Barrymore in the evening. I will get that information to you. Or we can ask our next guest, who is the filmmaker and creative force behind the film, John Roach. He joins us now on the stream. Hey, buddy. Pete, how are you? I'm doing very well. Look at that. Good to see you. Look at that. Look at that office chair, man. You are styling. That's a, that's a. You know, if you're a director, you have to set up a good shot. You know. That chair screams success.

Uh, it screams, um, aging back from high school football of that. That'll work too. Hey, great to have you. How are you doing tonight, John? I'm doing great. Um, I got a little cough. I inherited, uh, another virus from my grandchildren, but doing fine. Um, I'll kick it. Um, but, uh, yeah, pretty good. Disappointed with the Badgers, um, this weekend, but they had a wonderful season and it was a heck of a college basketball game.

You know, I was saying that before we went to the news, how much I liked watching your film today. I've still got a few minutes left of it, because I got distracted as I often do during the day, but it just made me so happy to be a Badger fan. You just, you really showcase...

in the film, that community in Madison, and sports, they have it. I think Wisconsin, they just won the state championship for Girls Hockey. It's just a great community. National championship, yeah. National championship. And you brought that out in this documentary. Now, it's about Howard Moore, and it's kind of a tragic story. So before we jump into the documentary, can you tell us a little bit about Howard as a person? Sure.

I knew him enough to nod at him in passing. If you're in Madison and, you know, you hang out around the university environment, I grew up like four blocks from Camp Randall on the near west side of Madison. And Tim Valentine, who's one of the executive producers along with George Hamill, Tim is represented as an agent.

I'm both hanging with Tim, who's a great friend. I run into these guys or I meet him or I'm at a, you know, having beers with him. And so I knew Howard enough to nod at him. And obviously I remember him when he was an athlete. But I didn't know him that well. And to some extent, I think it made the piece better because

There was a lot of a journalistic exercise in the documentary. There was not a lot known about the accident. We developed the backstory on Jennifer, his wife, because it wasn't just about Howard. It was about Jaden, Jennifer, and his son, Jarell. So I didn't know him that well, but after the first round of interviews with his teammates in the balcony of the old field house,

didn't take much to figure out that he was beloved, as was Jen. He was an unselfish player. He played a huge role in getting Michael Finley and Rashard Griffith and Tracy Webster to Madison, which really took the lid off the program, as Tom Oates says in the piece. But it's not really a basketball story. If basketball is the stage upon which a bigger story plays out.

And a more important story in some ways. You know, it's interesting you say that. I was kind of trying to figure out today how to frame, how to bring you on. And cause you're right, it is about his family and the horrible tragedy. It was a car accident in Michigan. But you have so much leading up to that story before we meet his family about Howard. And, you know,

How do you tell people? Like, if you went to someone, John, and said, I have this documentary, what's your elevator pitch? Because it's just a great story. Every aspect of it is fascinating. The one line that jumped out at me was, when the worst of times bring out the best in people.

because the community has just rallied around the Moors. And there's also a quote from James Baldwin that in doing the research I came upon, and James Baldwin's quote was, life is tragic and therefore unutterably beautiful. Because in the midst of this tragedy, there were so many beautiful moments. His teammates came from all over the country within 12 hours. His hospital room was filled.

There's been a tremendous amount of support for the Moore family. Tim Valentine has been helping the Moors out for five years. Several teammates, well, here's a great example. We were shooting interviews in the Moore household of Howard's father, Howard Trennis, his mother, and his brother Darnell. And all of a sudden, there's a big truck in the driveway.

And so we stopped taping because it was an audio issue and a huge container is unloaded. Michael Finley had a hyperbaric chamber delivered to Howard's home to aid in his recovery. Wow. Who does that? That's incredible. Yeah. And, um, he, uh, Howard is in a striker bed. Moselle Peterson, his teammate, works for striker, got him the bed. I mean,

This guy is Howard is beloved. And when I interviewed his teammates, I was set to go. I mentioned one of the teammates that were shooting out at the Moore's house. And I mentioned it to Chris Conger, who spent a lot of time on the bench with Howard. Howard had 100 points total in his whole career, but he was a great teammate.

And I said, we're going to be interviewing Trenes Moore and Howard Moore Sr. and Darnell. And Chris Conger goes, oh my god, Darnell. He was 10 years old when we were playing. I used to sneak him into the shell in my duffel bag. Because if you remember anyone who went to Wisconsin, getting into the shell was like trying to get into a nuclear missile silo. It was really hard to get in. And in the off season, all of our city players would hold court.

And Darnell would come up from Chicago to visit Howard. He was a great brother. And so Chris smuggled them in in a duffel bag and they, you know, set his duffel bag down at center court and then a kid would jump out of the bag. So that's pretty good. But there's just a lot of love in the piece, Pete. Yeah, just a lot of love in the piece. Definitely. All right. So tell us about.

the movie, John, because people that are listening right now probably are wondering what happened. I kind of gave broad strokes, but tell the story of the tragedy and how this documentary came to be out of that. Sure. So Howard had returned to the University of Wisconsin campus after being there as a player to be an assistant coach, first for Bo and then for Greg Gart.

They were, you know, coaches don't get a lot of time off by Memorial Day is one of those little windows, you know, and so Jennifer, Howard, Jayden and Jarrell were in their car. They drove to in their SUV. They drove to Chicago to visit Howard's parents. And as many people do, they were leery of rush hour traffic. So they had it to Detroit to visit Jennifer's mother at about 11, 12 at night.

so they would get out of Chicago. And it's about a three hour four hour drive to Detroit from Chicago, but a lot faster if you're not hung up on traffic. So they stopped for gas outside of Ann Arbor, got back on M5, which is kind of like an interstate highway. And Jen took over for Howard at the wheel because Howard was tired. And while they were filling up,

for gas a young woman named Samantha Winchester was leaving a bar that she was at with two friends her friend was a bartender and then a friend who is sitting alongside her and Samantha consumed about seven drinks most of the majority of them hard liquor in about an hour and a half and she was a slight woman and her friend said stay with me she said no i'm fine to get home she got on m5

And somewhere in the night, on this road at night, Samantha got confused and did a U-turn in the middle of the interstate and barreled down the highway and hit the Moors head on as they were coming around a turn on this interstate. The car was engulfed in flames. John was a flame. Howard was burned on the upper

third of his body, but Jurell was able to pull him out of the passenger side, went back to get his sister, Jaden, in the way back of the SUV. The family dog jumped into his arms, and he was trying to get Jaden out, but the flames are so bad, people are pulling him away. The dog jumped out of his arms to be with Jaden, and they both perished in the back of the truck. Jen perished later at the hospital.

Howard's teammates sprang into action, but the heart of the story, Pete, it's about drunk driving. Once every 37 minutes in America, someone's killed in a drunk driving crash. And Samantha was a nice young woman. She and her friends didn't make one good decision that night, not one.

when they had several chances to make one good decision. And so I think that the doc is about, when you head out into the night, be careful that you don't set off a cascade of events that can affect a family and a community forever. And the storytelling came in because in order to know what was lost, you had to know the mores. Right.

And they were truly beloved. Howard was an unselfish guy. One of the most troubling things about it is Howard was a wonderful athlete, 6'8", and he was one of the most perilous guys you'd ever meet. And now he can't walk and he can't talk. And he lost his wife and daughter and it's like the book of Job.

I will say George Hamill, who's an executive producer in Tim Valentine, they just didn't sit idly by. Right after the accident, COVID descended upon the land. And as we came out of COVID, George really echoed what a lot of people were saying is, what's going on with Howard? How is Howard? And once George understood Howard's condition, which is very challenging,

He and Tim were talking, they were actually at a football game. And they said, we got to do something for Howard. And we have to let people know what happened and how he's doing now. And we have to raise some money for him. So Tim and George is a great guy. His sister was in my fifth grade class at Blessed Sacrament grade school in Madison. And they talked to me and I said, this is not just a four minute piece. To me, and I think they were thinking the same way. I said, this feels

Like a documentary, there's a lot of story to be told.

The film is a road at night. My guest is John Roach. He is the director of the film. It plays Sunday, April 6th at 7 p.m. at the Barrymore Theater and tells the story of the Moore family and a tragic accident. But not just, I mean, you also, you have the tragedy in there, John, but you have this great story about two really, including his wife and how they met and the kids and how Howard came up playing basketball. And I want to ask you a little bit after a very short break about his connection to Madison.

And maybe we could tell a little bit more about the person Howard is to the listeners right now when we come back. John Roach is here. We'll get into that and learn more about Howard Moore after this very short break. It's Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Welcome back to Nightlight. I am Pete Schwabba and we are doing Monday the way Monday should be done. We're talking about a couple of really cool movies. Ezekiel Drews will be here at 735 to talk about Ed Gein, the musical. We had a chance to talk to Ezekiel a little earlier and we will play that at 735. Right now, my guest is John Roach. He is an accomplished writer, producer, and Wisconsin native.

His most recent project is A Road at Night. And you can see it at the Wisconsin Film Festival. It tells the story of Howard Moore and his career at Wisconsin and a tragedy that happened to his family during a drive from Chicago to Michigan. And John, as you mentioned, it's really a story about just people making a mistake and how it affects people.

It was so fun in your film to get to know who Howard was. And I love early on, his dad wanted him to go to Northwestern. He said, dad, I want to go to Wisconsin. He took a visit to Wisconsin and he said to his dad, I just want you to know, if I like the visit, I'm going there. He already seemed to have had a connection with Wisconsin. Is that because of recruiters or why was he drawn there? You know, I think it was just the vibe.

Howard was more than an athlete. He was a student leader. He was like an ombudsman for the basketball program to the student population at large. And I think he just strolled around and said, this is me. I can do this. And there's so many beautiful little anecdotes. And the film, obviously there's a tragedy, but there's forgiveness, there's love, and there is hope.

Howard's making incremental improvements every day and his son Jarrell is a star. He's just a wonderful young man, but one anecdote that I loved Howard's dad Howard senior who was retired engineer in Chicago in

I said, so you came up for all the games? He goes, I did come up for all the games. Sometimes my wife would go with Michael Finley's wife, and they would drive up. And I would take the country roads to Madison because I loved looking at all the cows. And it's also about the undying bonds of teammates.

There are certain experiences in your life, like being a teammate or being in the military in combat or being in a rock and roll band, whatever it might be, where you're subjected to a certain level of intensity together as a group. And these guys are bound for life. They are brothers. And to be a witness to the love that they have for each other was an honor, truly an honor. Yeah.

That's a great, to me, personally, that's my favorite thing about the whole film is hearing the teammates talk. Rashard Griffith, Michael Finley, and Tracy Webster, you forget Andy Kilbride, what a team they had then too. Oh, they had a great team. We'll talk about that in a minute, but we have a clip here that I want to play that we were unable to play earlier.

We have a clip from, this is a clip from a road at night, John's film, which will be playing at the Wisconsin Film Festival. Let's hear that now, Conrad. Phone's ringing, I'm like, why is Joe Kravinoff calling me at six in the morning? I saw a tweet early that Saturday morning that just said, we're praying for Howard. And I was like, huh. So now I'm just like, okay, this gotta be something. So let me answer them like, hello? Am I a big bro?

Are you sitting down? I pull over, and I make the call, and Rashard told me what happened, and... He was hysterical on the phone. And I was like, well, maybe it's somebody else. It was Greg Guard, the coach, making bad news for you. You just can't imagine anything of that magnitude happening to a family and to someone that you love and you care about.

Really powerful. You have great interviews, John. Thank you, Pete. You've got Bo Ryan, Greg Guard, Barry Alvarez. I'll just tell you this. When I started, we both discussed our connection to Chicago and Wisconsin. Yeah, right. I had only lived here for middle school and high school and I couldn't wait to get back to the big city, but I became a Badger fan.

In like 1990, I want to say it was, I was working the front. Good timing, Pete. I know, how about that?

I was working the funny bone in Pittsburgh and this guy comes up to me after the show and he says, hey, really great job. We start talking. Turns out it was Barry Alvarez's brother and he said my brother just took the, cause I did a couple of jokes about Wisconsin. He said my brother just took the head coaching job for the football team. I was like, oh, no kidding. So I started following Barry Alvarez and I was hooked on the football team and the basketball team as well. It was a great time to become a Badger fan because

The whole school just took a different turn when those two teams in particular became competitive. And like you say in your documentary, it was the first time they made a tournament appearance for the basketball team in 47 years.

Well, what's interesting is that both the basketball and football programs were ascendant at the same time. Yeah. And Barry Alvarez knew all those guys because the basketball offices and the football offices were adjacent to each other in Camp Randall at that time. They hadn't remodeled anything and the big television money hadn't dropped yet. And so, you know, Barry, you know, he just was great at working with young guys. He'd see Richard Wanderthru and Mike Finley Wanderthru. And

Andy Kilbride talked about how the Berry's program, the energy from what Berry was doing, fed into the basketball program and vice versa. So it was just young guys having success in a program that it hadn't had any. That's a great story. Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.

You're so sweet, a little girl strong

It's time for the Nightlight Popcorn Pick of the Week, where we recommend a movie that you'll either enjoy or won't. Here's your host, Pete Schwabba. Welcome back to Nightlight. This is Pete Schwabba. As announced by the lovely and talented Todd Michaels, no relation to the lovable producer Conrad, though. But you guys are friends. Yeah, I'd say, I mean, he's more of my boss.

I'm just kidding, Todd. He doesn't like you, Todd. We have some texts we'll get to in just a little while. We've got to go through them. Our phones are working, correct? Yes. All right. So if you want a call, I'm about to announce a great guest. Do the popcorn pick of the week. And if you have a question for him about his shows coming up or whatever, you're welcome to call or text in. It is my pleasure, ladies and gentlemen, to welcome one of my best pals here at Nightlight. He stops by every once in a while and wows us.

Offbeat drumroll. With his frankness! It's Frank Hermanns. How are you buddy? I don't mean to be frank with you, but I am. Can you give me just a little bit of the voice you did in the Christmas show? I guess get the games all by yourself. Oh, that's right! I was uh...

I was that guy. I was kind of a radio announcer, but a stern authoritarian. But a father. A father figure, yes. It's like Ted Baxter with kids. It totally was Ted Baxter a little bit. Just a little bit more authoritative. I loved it. Thanks. Welcome, buddy. I'm so happy you're doing this. We'll talk about movies. I want to talk to you about new shows you got coming up. You always have so much fun stuff to talk about. But let's start with the popcorn pick of the week. Let's do it.

What's your favorite movie snack Frank? My favorite movie snack and I'll be honest I do buy these at quicktrip before I go to a movie. We've seen a lot of these. And they're the Peanut Caramel Clusters. They're two for four dollars. Oh wow. Peanut Caramel Clusters. There's like a, they call them turtles. Oh yeah, yeah. The Orangine. Yeah. But I really like them. I do, I order popcorn all the time. Popcorn and then my kids will, whatever soda they want, I just drink whatever they get. And yeah, popcorn.

And the Carmel's, that's what we do. It's funny, most people go to the store, like the dollar store or somewhere to get cheaper candy. Correct. But what you're describing is two pieces for four bucks. That's like more than you pay at the movie theater. Well, actually it's two packages, I should say. There's probably seven of them in each package. Oh, okay. Sneak them in. Sneak them in, yeah. It's better than like sneaking in. It's nothing to see in this pocket. What do you got in your pocket, huh?

What are you packing? Are those caramel turtles in your pocket or are you just happy to be here? Because I got to tell you, I mean, I was a junior mint guy for years, junior mints for my way to go, but really, they're not that hot anymore. And my kids, they want these sour patch crap all the time. Come on, who's gonna pay nine bucks for sour patch crap? And then they don't eat half of them. I know. Those are hard to eat. I will say, once in a while, I have a taste. This is embarrassing. Do it. For nerds.

It's like a taste explosion in your mouth. And I don't really eat candy anymore, but once in a while, like if it's Halloween and they're sitting there, I'll just wolf them down. You know, I gotta tell you, we do enjoy going to Chilton Cinema a lot. My buddy, Mike Radu, owns this place and it's pizza. And his pizza is amazing. So I've already ordered his pizza, movie time pizza, not even going to the movie.

You know, I got kids that are 9, 11, and 13. So we're still going to see these movies that you probably don't go to. And I still enjoy them. I don't sleep through most of them anymore. But yeah, having a pizza, watching a movie, nothing like it. Fantastic. Do you prefer to watch movies in the theater, Frank? Totally. I'd rather see a...

a new release in a movie theater. I do have, you know, we have Prime and we'll do, we'll rent the blockbusters when they come out. But I would rather see, I like the Dolby, the big sound. Same. You know, when it comes on and then I can hear, you know, the, the, the, the stereo stuff, the little things happening in the background. And one of my thing, I could see a movie, I normally don't see a movie twice, but I miss some things sometimes. So I'll watch it on Prime.

Something after yeah, so what what kind of you said you have three kids all still at that awesome movie. Yeah, they are What do you typically go see movies that they want to see or do you ever go with Amy and see like? We did but we usually have a date night. We went and saw Mickey 17 my wife and I amazing movie by the way, okay black comedy Robert Patterson is amazing Brad Pitt, you know produce that that movie

But what a story. I mean, it was written back in 2021, a novel, and then put the guy die 17 times. I just think it's so cool. He's called Meat. He signs up to be expendable.

And he wonders why he gets on the spaceship right away because he's an expendable. They're going to kill him. Because they're going to test all these viruses. It's very funny. Yeah. It's very funny and well-acted. And I was surprised how good it was. Was it a sci-fi movie? Gosh, crazy. Did his voice drive you crazy? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh my god. He was always saying a high voice like that. Yeah. He talked it the whole time. And it was different.

Cause I liked that filmmaker a lot and I liked the movie. I didn't love it. My wife did not like it. So it was one of those things like where we kind of left going. Okay. We loved, my wife and I absolutely loved it. That's so cool. All right. So I mean, somebody representations too with the, with the commander guy guy with his false teeth. You know, I thought the last hour of it was cool with those creatures. Yes. The creatures and the message was nice. You know, it's, you know, it's all about fear and ignorance.

So what genre, typically Frank, do you like to watch? Let's say it's just you. The wife's doing something else. The kids aren't around. What is Frank watching? I like thrillers. I like thrillers. I like the beekeeper. I like the equalizer. Those are my movies, and that's my older son's type of genre.

We, my son, I mean, we're going to see The Matrix. We're going to see these movies all the time. My older son and my 13 year old, now he can go to these R rated movies to get away with it. This is Harrison. Harrison, so he's coming with us. So we're going to see those movies. That's what I really like. Yeah. And that's the kind of when I watch a TV series like A Landman or something like that. I'm looking for intrigue. I'm looking for thriller. I'm not in it for, I like comedy. Don't get me wrong. Sure. You know, comedies are fun, but I like a story. I do too. I'm with you.

I don't know why I don't like comedy more than I do, but I always want, I want a mystery, a cop thing, or like the equalizers, I think are, all three of those are so great. So well put together, storyline, and the new one, who's gonna be? We're in Italy. Yeah, no, there's another one that's coming out, I heard. Oh, really? And it's gonna be someone, some big, brother, big name is gonna be involved. Am I lying to myself that I just made this up? I don't know. No, I didn't hear about it, but I love all of this. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I like them all about the same too. Dan's L70, man, and he's still working it. He's still kicking ass on screen. Jason Statham's my favorite, one of my favorites too. I loved, and here's where I'm at with the beekeeper. When that came out, I crack up now because all these guys that have mundane jobs, they're really trained killers.

You can go get a warm press with the movie theater. Don't make a mess. No, no, that guy's an assassin. Like, he's the beekeeper. Now he's got a new film coming out where he's a construction worker. I gotta go see it. You have to. I mean, he's making money. So why not do it? No, listen, beekeeper I thought was cool because Felicia Rashad has played his landlord. Yes.

And he avenged her and it's all these scammer telemarkers. It was like, it struck a nerve with me. I'm like, yeah, kill them all. And to go through and find them like he did, it was pretty cool. Very cool. And yeah, to go through each one. I actually love that movie. I love that movie too. All right, so what about at home, Frank? If you have to watch a movie at home, do you go for a different kind of snack or do you still like popcorn? Snack? I'm a grazer.

I fast every day. I fast for 17 hours. I don't have breakfast. And usually about two o'clock, the stomach starts rumbling. So I have a snack or something. So we'll have dinner. And then I'll graze all the way till 10 o'clock till we go to bed. So I try to do healthy stuff. I like a pistachios and carrots. But you know, it's what the kids are eating, you know? So whatever's there. We do a lot of popcorn. A lot of popcorn. I gotta tell you, I'm...

I fast as well, and I've done 36 hour, I've done 18, 16, and I try to just speak for the health reasons, you know, it brings your levels down and all that kind of stuff. Mydicondria, baby, produces new cells. Yeah. But if you could do, you did 36 already? I've done, I do 36 semi-regularly. Okay, cause I'm gonna do 36 next week, and that's what really has been, if you could do four days, they say. Yes. It's like you are a new human being.

everything in your body reset flushed. I don't know that I could do that. All the stem cells get going. My buddy, I kid you not, my buddy did a 96 hour fast. Yeah, Brad Bordini, if he's listening out there, he did, he's a guitar player singer. Yeah.

Well, I think he had cancer and started doing all those things. I think he beat it. He was doing all that stuff. If I could, Frank, I'd give up beating all together. I don't see that happening. But what did you call it? Because it refreshes your cells, too. I thought it was called autophagy. It is autophagy, but it rebuilds the mitochondria, which is the cell building. That rebuilds cells. And what it does, your body, it's fighting. It's like, OK, we've got to fire a cell. Let's kick that thing out of here.

You gotta sell it to the mitochondria's bad. Let's kick that thing out of here. So what it does is it's cleansing your body. It's the caveman effect. That's why cavemen only ate every five days or six days. Right. Because they couldn't fight. Why they only lived to be 24. But they were fit. They were fit. They were tight.

No, I love that. If I could do a four there, that whatever it is, I do find that interesting. I don't know that I... You did 36 hours. That's very impressive. I do. It's not my regular. And it's fun that you wake up and you're like, I don't have to think about you today. You're not hungry. It's great. And you're not hungry. When you make it to a certain point, you're not hungry anymore. Right. And your brain is so sharp. Like you have none of that gluten clouding. Yeah, I know.

So we're supposed to be pushing popcorn and snacks here Frank Herman's is here ladies and gentlemen. He's about to make the popcorn pick of the week He has so many some cool stuff opening up soon. We'll talk about that too. So So all right, I think are we ready Conrad? I got a controversial pixel. Let's do it. I love it Conrad if you would please Frank Herman's what is your popcorn pick of the week? It's no white

How about that? I went and saw it with my kids two days ago. I went with it with an open mind and absolutely loved it from start to finish. It's Hollywood, it's Disney, it's glamor. They make that castle look so real.

this attention to detail with the background. Plus, they sang all the original songs and then they wrote some new songs. I thought it was great. You know, everybody's talking about, you know, the dwarves, you know, maybe being weird, but I thought that was cool. They look like the dwarves with skin. You know, they look dopey, look like dopey. Yeah. And Gail Godot, great cast as the queen. Oh my God, she can sing too.

She is amazing. She's a great actor. I love her. She's perfection. Yeah. And Rachel, I know there was controversy around the movie, some political, but some from the lead actress who said some stuff. And it's like, sometimes things just take a while to get going, but I love hearing that you really liked it because now I probably will check it out. Just check it out. If only, you know, the story is the same. They do change a little bit with the handsome.

you know guy and that guy grew on me the prince he's not that he's not a prince he's a he's a leader of a rebellion kind of thing okay and i like the backstory how they set up the backstory with the father marrying gale you know after after the mother had passed away so there's all these setups um and he grew on me because he wasn't you know

the guy's supposed to be really handsome, right? Don't you think that? He wasn't, he wasn't to me. Not that I'm looking for that, but I was thinking, man, this guy's gonna be a stud. He's not, but eventually he becomes one. That's awesome, man. All right, so Conrad, has that changed your mind about the film? I didn't have, I didn't... Will you go see it? Well...

I didn't see it, he didn't see it. We saw reviews on IMDB and it was so low, it's a joke. When I saw those, I'm like, there's some kind of campaign here, everybody went in. There's some good reviews, there's some reviews that gave it, gave, who's girl that plays Snow White? Rachel's performance was outstanding, that Gail's performance was outstanding. Story was a little convoluted, I've heard. And then the dwarf thing.

But the review, even with all the controversy, the reviews are still decent. My kids love it. You go with the whole family? I brought all my kids and they absolutely loved it. I loved it too. Whistle while you work. Is that what show that's from? Oh, funny. I haven't seen Snow White in so long. All right, all right. So we've got, man, we got a lot to get to. So let's talk about, we've got about a minute before we have to do a break. But start us off, tell us what's coming up next in

for Let Me Be Friend. Yeah, we open up next Thursday already. Isn't that crazy? Our brand new show called The King of Krakow. Now Krakow is a town west of Pulaski, okay? Back in the...

Probably the 30s to the 80s, it was quite the town. Now it's a ghost town. There was a bowling alley, which is no longer there. Is it really a ghost town? Well, there's people that still live there, but all the businesses, hardware stores still there. So sad. It's closed down. The IGA, Brzezinski's IGA, all that's left is the walls. You can drive through this town, it's so cool. Now there's a hairstylist there, and there's also a bar yet there, but there used to be a lot more going on.

The reason why I thought of King of Crackle was kind of a spoof on the King of Queens. But then we started, I started thinking, King of Crackle, like, let's do like a good fellas thing, you know? And we'll talk about that, eh? Yeah. We'll talk about that after a very short break. I love the hairstyle.

the salon in the bar. Do you go to the salon first and then the bar to look good? Or do you go to the bar and get the guts to go get the ridges or whatever you do? All right, Frank Hermans is here. Folks, he gave us his popcorn pick of the week. It's Snow White. Awesome pick. Go see it. Yeah, and we'll come back and talk about the king of Krakow and he's got another show. We're gonna tease right there. Frank's gonna tell us everything he's doing. He's even gonna perform. So you're hearing a great night. It's Peach Wobbitt Nightlight, Civic Media Radio Network.

Wait, what is this text? Welcome back to Nightlight. This is Pete Schwabba, your ever-loving host. Great to have you with me tonight. From the 855, this is Kate from Haywords as Ali says, thanks Conrad, to that.

was like fingernails on a chalkboard. What's that? Well that was the beep from the brewers after the brewers game on Hayward. Oh, the phone issue. So it is completely fixed.

And now you can listen to Nightlight with Peach Waba. Mark in the 608 says, the long kiss, good night. 1996 is pretty good. Gina Davis and Sam Jackson, I think giving us his popcorn pick of the week, which is just fine. Mark, thank you. Have you ever seen that movie, Frank? No, I have not. Oh, it's good. Love Gina Davis. Kind of like a born movie. But she's a housewife and all of a sudden stuff comes back. It's really a fun movie. And Samuel Jackson is hilarious. He's the best. Frank Hermans is here, folks. He gave the popcorn pick of the week. It's Snow White, the new Snow White. And now we're going to talk about some of the cool stuff.

has going on right down the street at the Meyer yeah our brand new show it opens up next

Thursday, it's a benefit show. Of course, $10 of every ticket goes to the Children's Museum, and we're doing something cool on that opening night. Of course, Showtime 730. We're doing a red carpet. You can get your picture taken, dressed like you're in the 80s, or just dress up. And we'll take pictures. I got my photographer there. That's going to take pictures. We've got a backdrop. And $10 of every ticket goes to the Children's Museum. Heather Hiles, a great friend of mine.

You know, we even talked about it because she goes, Frank, you've never done a benefit show for me. I go, I haven't. Let's do it. And she's jumping behind this 100%. In fact, if you go on my Facebook page, you'll see an interview. We auditioned Heather Pat and I, like a spoof. It is funny. She doesn't make the cut. She doesn't make the cut. Did she really want to be in the show? No, no. She's just a joke. Good man. She goes, can I audition? I go, yeah, you can. It was a funny thing.

Oh, that's funny. She comes in singing. It's not unusual to have fun with anyone. She's kind of like one of those people that's got everything going on. When she comes in here, I'm amazed at her knowledge of everything happening. It wouldn't have surprised me if you said she had a great voice. She does. She's a talented young lady. She's a media mongrel man. She does radio TV, and then she's got this great job at the Children's Museum. And I do a lot of stuff for her, and this is something we can give back to the community. So I love it.

Well, another reason to go see the show, which I'm sure is great on its own, but a good cause too. So tell us again, all right, this is the King of Crack-O, and it's West of Palazzo. West of Palazzo, it's in Highway 32 in Chano County. Let me set the scene for you, okay? First of all, it's like two gangs. We got the Brzezinski gang. The Brzezinski gang owns the IGA store, okay? And you got Don Brzezinski.

I play the enforcer named Lodface. And then we got Tic-Tac, who comes in. And then we bring in a ringer called Pauly Pencilneck, okay? Pauly Pencilneck talks like this. It's very funny. Very funny. He's a Joe Pesci guy. And then the other casting characters are the Angels of Angelica. Angelica is a town in Shano County. They have a game called the Shana Nano.

Oh, I love it. Get it, Sean. Anyway, so my wife plays Amy Angelica, and then Sarah plays Sarah the Italian because she looks Polish. And then you got Lisa Wackjob. She likes to kill people. Well, she slaps them. So it's kind of a spoof on good fellas and all of those things where they're trying to get more a piece of pizza. They want to move in on each other's territory. And how they're going to do that? Well, they're going to do that by a new sewage company.

pump and dump. They're going to come and pull everybody's sewage. And so it all ends up at, at Krakow Lanes. They have a battle of the sexes bowling tournament and the winner of course gets the contract.

Okay, so, but there's all different stuff happening in between. You know, the ringer comes in, he's the best bowler in the area, he's from the south side. South Chase, if you're familiar with Chano County, there's North Chase, the South Chase. So it's just a funny, funny story with great music from the 80s. And it's not like the hair band music, it's pop music from the 80s.

What kind of songs? Like, I can get up and bang, ride on track. Oh, I love this. Breakfast club. Breakfast club. We got some Cindy Loper in the show. We got some, oh, a little Bruce Springsteen we were just talking about. Yeah. Glory days, of course. Glory days. Awesome. Yeah, a lot in 2020 songs from the 80s. And you'll love everything about it. And it's so funny. I got to tell you Pat's character, TikTok. TikTok. He's so freaking funny.

Uh, uh, we play Dabrasinski's, uh, Little Mollin' Brando. That's your guy? No, I'm- Oh. I'm Blodface. Oh, yeah, yeah, okay. I'm named after my donkey-lot ass, Blodface. So. And I'm an enforcer. Wait, what is your favorite, kind of, let's do an 80s tune going to break. Okay, okay. Maybe New Order or Shiny Happy or something. Oh, yeah. But, uh, what is your favorite music? Like, you've pulled from all. Yeah.

Eras when you write a show, what gets you the most excited? I gotta tell you we've done almost every song in the 60s and 70s now I swear to God I am sick of 60s and 70s right now and I love that music I used to delve into it I mean 25 years I've been doing shows right now starting to get into more of the 80s that I used to hate because I grew up in the 80s so that music sucked to me I was a huge George Michael fan huge George Michael fan. I can't even stand his songs anymore, but

Now that I haven't heard them in a while, going back to the 80s, and I'm writing another show this summer called, I Found My Thrill on Scraze Hill. It's all 50s and 60s. So I'm listening to the songs I haven't heard in a long time, you know, doo-wop stuff. So it's all good. I just love music. It's great. When I, like the 80s stuff I liked, but there were some songs that drive me nuts, but now when I hear them, it takes me back and it's like an old friend. Even if I didn't like it then.

See, the older I get and the more I understand music, music is music. It's one, four, five, or it's, you know, there's always a pattern to it, you know? And as we get older and dumber, we start to track everything, you know, and we come up, we steal everybody's riffs and then we put them in our songs. Hence, you know, every rap song right now, which is fine, but you're stealing everybody's music.

Right. Sampling. Right. Sampling. Frank Hermanns is here. He's going to perform for us when we come back and we'll find out. I'll tell you where you can get tickets to King of Krakow. You probably already know, but we'll go over it anyway, just to be thorough, because Frank's a pal. We're coming right back after the news. It's Peach Wabba and Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio Network.
