We love wrapping up the issue of New Wisco Weekend with a musical guest.
This week we have something unique and old-fashioned just in time for Valentine's Day.
How about a little barber shop?
Jukebox, barber shop quartet, which is associated with the Fox Valley Ayers, appeared on the
Mino in the Mayor's show recently.
Full disclosure, one of the members of the lead is Mayor Jim Schmidt's brother.
Here's Dennis Peters, John Mino and Jim Schmidt interviewing Jukebox.
First of all, can you do us yourselves if you would?

So how did you guys meet again?
We met 12 years ago on eHarmony.com.
You're mentioning it was the Free Weekend, wasn't the Free Weekend.
We're joining the studio by Jukebox, barber shop quartet, gentlemen, please do your

Now, what's the segway to this whole Valentine's Day?
What you guys do and how great that is, yeah, we got to give you a love to want a singing
Valentine delivered February 14th between nine in the morning to seven at night, a long
stem, a red rose, two songs, a card and a picture delivered by the quartet in tuxedos,
bass price, $40 additional flowers and balloons are extra for a Valentine's Day call to get
this reserve called Richard at 920 734 9495.
So what are the four parts, what's the official designation of the four parts?
Okay, the man that sings the lead is the melody, I should say, is lead, we call him.
Okay.
The one who sings a third above him, the high notes is a tenor, okay, the one who sings
the low part is the bass and the one who fits in between that is the baritone.
What we say is on a piano, you know, you got all the keys, that's the part that sings in
the cracks.
We do mainly in the Apple and the Fox Valley area for the Fox Valley areas, okay?
Got it.
Right.
And then we have the Manitouac Chapter, who does Manitouac County and then we have Oshkosh.
We started a festival every year, we reach out to the high schools and in Manitouac County
we have nine high schools that we work with, the musical educators and we give them free
scores of music, free learning tracks for the kids to learn barbershops.
So if you ever go to a high school performance, we'd love them to sing a barbershop song.
We have, you know, we have coaches that go out and work with them and then what we do
is every year we have a contest of the best, you know, we have an open invite to any high
school quartets and they, that's good.
It's May 17th and Steven's Point and statewide, so we get them from all over the state and
then we have certified judges come in and they judge them just like a contest, we would
have any one of our contests.
We don't have to have four fantastic voices, solo voices, but the key is for them to blend.
We get four voices that take their part and they can get a decent blend.

that's stringent right no try it out for a couple weeks and we meet in Manitouac and
we got people from Plymouth from Green Bay you know coming in to sing with us and it's
Tuesday nights 7 to 9 and I just wanna mention two for the Fox Valley years they meet at
first English Lutheran Church in Appleton every Tuesday night from 7 to 9 30 anybody's
