See You at Lunch By the River Tomorrow!  (Hour 2)

Mornings with WFHR · Wed Aug 13, 2025

Good morning, Wisconsin.

Morning, world.

It's a new day.

Thanks for kicking it off with us at WFHR.

Your host, James behind the mic.

Join by Melissa.

Good morning.

Seth.

Good morning.

And the best listeners and radio.

Thanks being here.

We've got a lot of fun to get to this hour.

We're going to be talking about where we'll be out and about.

We'll be at the bridge to bridge, 5K run walk.

We are going to be at lunch by the river tomorrow.

We've got our open house party coming up.

All of these things, I don't know how we're going to do it all.

We've got to help figure it out.

Actually, we feel really good about it, actually.

We have a great team and everybody's pitching in.

Yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun.

We're looking forward to all of that coming up.

We'll be getting to all these things, but we kick off the hour with entertainment

news.

And if you are a lover of Hallmark movies and country music, well, they know their audience

over at Hallmark.

They know their audience.

So this is, and you're going to be hearing about this a lot.

If you are in that household of a person that has a love of both of these things, Hallmark

is teaming up with the Grand Old Opera for a brand new holiday movie called A Grand Old

Opera Christmas.

Wow.

Terrific advertising.

Terrific advertising.

Terrific advertising.

Terrific advertising.

Terrific advertising.

Terrific advertising.

And for a Pala I, neurology, it is so hard to find actors I don't know.

Like it is, it is I cannot express how difficult it is.

I've got so many friends that are in the industry and thank people that know people so I hear

names all the time.

I've never heard these names before.

I don't know who these people are.

I'm not trying to be mean.

I just I think it's so, it's so odd for me to come across actor names I don't know.

This will premiere during Hallmarks Channels 16th Annual Countdown to Christmas.

No official date has been set yet, but last year's premier premiered in October.

The film will feature new origin music from Brad Paisley, who is also writing this year's

official Countdown to Christmas Anthem, bringing in a big dog for that one.

Okay.

The story follows Gentry Woods, I'm sorry already with the name Gentry Woods.

If you would introduce yourself and your name is Gentry Woods, I'm not believing that's

your name.

I believe in you.

I believe in you.

Yes.

You are a country singer.

Yes, you are.

She is the daughter of a late country legend who was transported back to 1995 for a magical

holiday reunion that helps her finish a song that she started decades ago.

There.

Wow.

What a plot.

Wow.

Holy Mackerel.

I don't know if Hallmark is doing this already or not, but if I was the Hallmark channel,

I would be standing outside the doors of General Hospital and days of our lives and all the

soap operas that are still left and grabbing the writers from those shows.

And just like, hey, hey, come over here, come over here for a little bit.

Something different.

Or maybe that's what they did.

I don't know how they got that.

I'm sorry.

I don't know.

The partnership also includes a special line of opera themed Hallmark gifts that will

hit shelves later this year.

Hallmark fans, though Hallmark movie fans are going to love this.

They'll eat it up.

It's almost like comfort food, you know, people that love Hallmark movies.

This is right in their wheelhouse.

Absolutely.

I can be really, like, I don't really have a bar for many things, but with acting, movies,

TV show, all this stuff, I can't help myself.

I do.

I do have a standard.

I do have things that I look at as art and different from art and money making and all

that.

That said, I lose, I think people miss me on this one sometimes because I'm in so favor

of these movies.

I love that this stuff exists.

I love that there is a genre for this.

I think that there needs to be more of this.

We're making millions and millions of movies anyway.

Why not tailor them more to people?

Not everything has to be a blockbuster.

Not everything has to be an Oscar-winning flick.

Right.

And not every movie has to have those, what, top hundred actors that you see in all the

movies.

Exactly.

There are so many actors that are getting work because of these movies.

That's right.

There are so many actors that for every Lama Getten, you know, that are getting work at

everything.

I'm in favor of this.

I want this stuff.

There's a big difference of will I watch it or do I support it?

You don't have to watch it to support it.

Not right.

Not at all.

When I star in one of these movies, you're dang right.

Yeah, I would.

Yeah, I would.

And I'd do a great job, but I probably wouldn't watch it.

That's not true.

Not true.

You totally would.

You have to watch it to pick yourself.

I guess.

Absolutely.

But I get really, I get, I get, I don't push back on a lot of things.

I try not to at least.

But the music or movie snobs out there, the people that are like, that movie, the music's

horrible.

You can think it's horrible.

That's fine.

But putting that opinion on others or judging people when they say, hey, I really like

Nickelback.

And you're immediately like, well, that's a horrible band or whatever.

I'm like, well, okay, that's fine.

That's your opinion.

Is it a crush somebody else's or something or make them feel bad or a little for liking

something that they don't?

Not at all.

I think you can say you don't like that band, but to make them, to your point, to make

them feel bad for them liking it.

That's a whole different story.

That's too much.

Like you don't get to tell people what they like or what's good music or what is it.

You can say what you think is good music.

Absolutely.

And you can say it in a way that's like not degrading to the person you say speaking

down to.

Not my cup of tea.

Yeah.

Yeah.

That kind of thing.

That's all you need to say.

I'm not a fan.

Not a fan.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I don't know what's so hard about that.

I don't, you know, to me, hey, more powerful.

What depends on how much you think your opinion matters, I guess, is the big thing.

Yeah.

If you feel that people need to share your opinion, then you can be really, yeah.

There's way too many snobs out there with that stuff.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And I just, hey, man, more of the merrier.

Yeah.

That's fellow actors, fellow creatives getting more than wrong with it.

There's how many, how many set people that are getting to, you know, do these jobs and

everything?

Only.

And, man, I got to, I'm sorry, but I got to imagine being a writer of one of those scripts.

Oh, yeah.

That can't be that hard, right?

I mean, that can't be just come on.

That can't be that difficult.

George Clooney recently did a movie for Netflix called Jay Kelly.

I saw the trailer of the other day.

He plays an actor and Adam Sandler plays his manager in it.

The trailer is really good and I really enjoyed it.

George Clooney plays kind of an actor kind of on the end of his career.

He was big at one point, Jay Kelly, a household name, all this, and now he's kind of in the

tail end of his career and all this.

And he's trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life and who he is and all

this.

And I'm Sandler playing his manager is a, plays a much, a very straight man role.

It's interesting because you could almost see this, I'm watching the trailer, even in

the trailer, I'm like, oh, they could have swapped roles and done just a good of a job.

Like George Clooney playing his manager and him being this actor and everything.

One of the things that I know about this that I really appreciate and this is something

that comes back to George Clooney all the time.

George Clooney during his Oscar winning speech took some heat for, you know, being a little

grandizing in some of these things and maybe over exaggerated a little bit about some stuff

and he was dead on about other things that nobody ever gives the acting community credit

for.

But one of the things he also does is he is one of the greatest supporters any actor could

have.

I got my screen actor Gild card in 2008 about a year later, I got a letter like many,

many, I'm not a letter, I'm sorry, an email, like many other people did.

It wasn't directly to me, but it was all, it was directed to the hundred and two hundred

some new actors of the guild and welcoming us to the guild and what it means to be a part

of this club.

What it means to be, you know, okay, you got here.

Now what are you going to do with it?

And what do you need?

It's literally in the email, his email address and what do you need?

Like I, I'm not saying that he, he answers every email and he's the greatest guy ever

or anything.

I'm sure he could be a jerk at times.

I'm sure he's got his bad side.

He's human.

But when I, when I think of the purpose of anything we're doing, whether it's radio,

acting, mechanic, working at clerk at a gas station, whatever it might be, it's you get

to a level and then you lower the ladder.

You make sure other people can get up.

It's not, I pull the ladder up and it's all about me and my ego and me being the greatest

in all these things.

It's about lowering that ladder and letting other people up and helping other people up.

And that's all George Clooney has done since he has gotten to that mark.

Since the ER blew up and he became a household name, that man has done nothing but try to build

up other actors, especially actors you don't even know.

Right.

I admire that.

I think he doesn't have to do that.

I think that's pretty cool.

One thing that George Clooney noted and this is another part of this is telling it, getting

an insight to other things that about actors.

George would like you to know that Adam has range.

Adam is a bona fide, that's being, he is a true actor.

Quote, this film, more than any film Adam has done shows what a beautiful, heartfelt,

soulful actor he is.

I kept telling the cast, don't call him Sandman, don't talk to him like he's just some goofy

comedian.

He's actually a real, beautiful, wonderful actor.

Because of what his paycheck is, which is doing big goofy comedies when he does these

old, other beautiful kinds of movies, it reminds people of that he's not just a goofy

comedian.

Oh, I'm sorry, he's not just a good comedian.

Jay Kelly will have a limited theatrical release in November, be hitting Netflix on December

9th.

I think that, and I think this is completely Adam Sandler's choice, that he hasn't done

more roles like this.

I think he enjoys doing what he does and that's cool, nothing wrong with that.

But I agree.

And being not being an Adam Sandler fan, I have seen enough of him from other parts that

I agree.

I think he absolutely has great range.

I just don't think he's that interested in doing those roles that much.

But I'm glad he's doing this one because, and words like that coming from George Clooney,

I mean, that means a lot.

That's just because of his cloud, it's just because he knows what he's talking about.

He's a tremendous actor, you know, and he understands what it takes.

Well, and as far as the comedy, I refer to them as stupid funny movies, Sandler isn't

quite in that category for me as much as, like, Well, Farrell or some of the other, like,

I actually like Adam Sandler movies for the most part.

But yeah, I agree.

He is a tremendous actor and to not be typecast all the time is stretching out a little

more.

Yeah, good.

I think that's good for him too.

I'm glad to ask your nomination for Uncut Gems.

It's a failure on the industry that it didn't happen.

I know I put my nomination in for him.

And if you don't, if that isn't enough for you, watch the movie Punch Drunk Love and

you will completely forget that that is Adam Sandler at times, the chemistry with him

and Philip Seymour Hoffman and other actors and the way they talk about him on that set,

it's just incredible.

That's one of the things I love about when actors get a chance to spread their wings

like that.

And you're like a half an hour into the movie before you recognize who they are.

I love that.

I said this about the Fantastic Four.

I love when I'm wrong.

I saw that casting for that movie and I'm like, it looks really good.

Vanessa Kirby is a strong actor, but I don't know if she can do the soft heartfelt

parts, you know, being these different things.

And then I see her performance, I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it.

Like it's so good.

She does such a great job and I love being wrong.

A lot of ways she carries the movie, actually.

I guess she does.

Yeah, yeah.

This is incredible.

Incredible.

Like I love when that happens.

I also love when entertainers give you an insight into their lives or what's going

on with them, especially when we have questions or things you may not say out loud, but you're

thinking.

Robert Plant just wrapped up the European leg of his tour with his new band Saving Grace.

Their North American shows kick off in October.

So far they've been performing a few Led Zeppelin songs here and there.

The Rain Song, Rambalon, don't expect Plant to sing some of the other hits.

He says, quote, to do it for the sake of it was never what Led Zeppelin was all about.

Okay.

Plant adds, quote, what were the hits?

How can they be related to now?

Where do they fit?

They fit as a sort of memoir when people say I don't like stay away to heaven.

I just don't like the idea of it, these iconic things.

They're just what they are.

But you know, most people have missed some of the best Led Zeppelin stuff for your life,

presence, Achilles last stand, really good song.

Just extraordinary that three people and singer can do.

What a singer can do.

So basically the members of Led Zeppelin band and him, yeah.

And that there's so many other, it's why play these hits songs over the others just because

they're so called hits.

Right.

Right.

He put it in an interesting way, but yeah, that's kind of a thing.

Honestly, there's a little, what we've heard recently from Jimmy Page about Led Zeppelin

being, you know, well, we're not going to let them do the live aid thing because it was

not a good performance kind of thing.

He seems to be pushing back on that a little bit at least, saying it's like, dude, you know,

it's in the past, you know, let's, he's always done a better job.

I thought Robert planned of like moving forward from Led Zeppelin.

He's always done all kinds of different things, you know, taking chances, you know, the old

Allison Grouse thing.

I mean, no one expected that to do and they have amazing collaboration between those two.

One of the coolest things I think is seeing an athlete adapt their game to their age as

they get older, learning how to stay in this sport by, you know, okay, I can't do this

anymore, but I can do this and I can still be valuable to my team and those things.

Seeing an artist do it is just as beautiful to me, a guy like Robert Plant that was a

banshee, that was known for singing and hitting these high notes and like nobody in rock

history ever has and holding them in those things.

And obviously his voice can't do a lot of that now, but he's still consenting, still

hold a beat, all those things.

Of course.

I'm going to go on more into folk music.

I'm going to go more into that or lean into the more folkier songs of Zeppelin's library

and some of that, like it's just adaptation is always interesting to me.

And he's done a fine job of it, I think.

I also think that one thing that a lot of these guys, whether it's page or plant or any

of them won't talk about that I always, I also admire is the, well, I can't do it at

the level I used to in my prime, so I don't want to do it anymore.

And that's a different story.

That's Teach Theron as an artist decision.

I get a little saddened by that.

Well at the same time, you know, I ramble all the time about Jim Brown retiring at the

top of his game and from the set of the dirty dozen, he didn't wait until he was, you

know, Michael Jordan getting crossed over late in his career, some of these things.

I, for me, as badly as I want to perform, I could see myself being one of these people

that probably shouldn't be out there, but I am.

I, I, I, I, I don't want to be that guy, but I'm being owning it and everything being

honest.

But if you're still feeling it, I mean, why, why wouldn't you, right?

If they're still feeling like they have something they can contribute, yeah.

He also declined an invite from Black Sabbath guitarist, Tony Ome to the black, uh, attend

a Black Sabbath tribute.

He said, quote, I, I love Tony, I'd love to have come, but I can't, I, I don't know any

thing about what's going on in the world right now and what's going on with all that.

He keeps very inner word on stuff, apparently, wow.

So he didn't necessarily decline and he just didn't know necessarily all of it was about

by the time he caught up his schedule wouldn't work out.

And as I said earlier, he's touring with his band, Saving Grace, right?

Uh, I like to end segments on good stories.

Uh, it's something that I kind of, you can see that one coming a mile away usually.

Um, but I, I usually, I'm hunting these down a lot of the time myself and sometimes

set their Melissa, send some over and Mel, you sent something yesterday that was a really

good one off of Reddit.

I went down a deep dive with this one.

Uh, a redder made a post in the resident alien TV show subreddit.

That's a TV show that recently got canceled.

They just wrapped up their most recent season in Alan Tudyk is an actor on that show, lead

on that show.

Well, she talked, uh, under subreddit, she talked about how she met Alan and regrets

not telling him that it was the first show that made her laugh after her husband died.

Oh, wow.

Well, Alan created a reddit account specifically to reply to her, really, oh my gosh.

Wow.

And it's not just like, hey, thank you, like he went in depth, like he got, he wouldn't

set a conversation to her and everything.

And we, um, need more of this.

This is the beauty we have with social media with social media.

We're supposed to be more connected.

We're supposed to be talking to each other.

Um, whether we're talking about our law enforcement or our politicians or entertainers, we need

to make the human and people more, um, since day one with Sean and Sheriff Becker, and

I, I call him Sean, like that's, that's, that's, yeah, I don't do that out of disrespect

by any means.

It's because I want to show the human being behind the badge.

I want us to be reminded of that more when I'm talking with representative Krug.

I'm calling him Scott.

I'm talking to him like that because we need more of that.

We need to understand that about each other.

We can disagree.

We can have issues with each other, but we cannot forget our humanity.

Right.

And I can't believe I'm saying that.

Like that.

I can't believe that I, but it's important that Alan gets that.

Yeah.

This is important.

Yep.

Reaching out like that is important.

Mm-hmm.

And not putting somebody up on a pedestal just because they, they do something or they have

a star status.

I mean, the reason that she didn't tell him what she wanted to is because the line was

long.

And by the time she got up there, she looked tired and she just felt like it wasn't the

right time.

But then she posted this and somebody shared it with him and he's like, no, that's absolutely

wonderful and beautiful that you shared that with me.

And there was more to the thing, but then he ended it with, I'm still tired.

I'm sure he is.

Yeah.

Yeah.

But he invited her back.

Then he's like, I'd love to see you and meet you in person.

Please come back.

We're still here until, you know, whatever time this next day.

Wow.

That was great.

That's very cool.

One of the good guys in the industry.

Yeah, absolutely.

And I also like how he pointed out with the stuff in Hollywood and some of the stuff.

Yeah.

Some of the stuff.

Yeah.

Alan's got into a place in his career where he can be a little more vocal about those

things.

Yeah.

He's got the, he's always going to work.

James, James Gunn alone will always put him to work.

People need voices for their cartoons, so he will be able to do that.

What am I talking about?

Disney will always put him to work.

Yeah.

Disney movies, too.

He's incredible.

You count Star Wars and all the other stuff, yeah?

This also, real quick, as we're going to break here and everything, this also breaks my

heart a little bit because I think about all the people that have probably been hesitant

to come up to me and talk to me because of how, you know, a good I am at this job and

how intimidating I must be.

I think of a star you are.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

I don't want to.

Tell him how much you like him.

Making blush.

Yes, please.

Please don't do that.

He's blushing already.

Uh huh.

We'll be talking about that Park-a-Lab party and more when we come back on the morning show.

Welcome back to the morning show here at WFF chart, locally grown radio.

See the curtain hanging in the window, in the evening of Friday night.

Kind of a quintessential summer song.

It's great.

It really is.

Soft rock.

Gold.

Soft rock gold.

Thanks for joining us on Soft Rock gold ever.

He gets by 30 artists.

We've got all coming up for you.

We've got seals and croff.

We've got bread.

Bread.

America.

More bread.

Christopher Cross.

Yes, I was trying to think of Christopher Cross.

I was going to think of the day.

We are so excited.

We've got a couple of events we're going to be going out and about at this next couple of days.

I want to send a shout out to our sales and marketing team.

Our great team over there that are working so hard for us all summer.

It has been a blast to be out and about at these events and different things.

Certainly hoping to continue that throughout the year and more next year and everything.

A big thank you to everybody involved.

All these businesses that hosted us, all of our sponsors and especially all of you that came to these events.

Yeah, all the listeners that come by and say hi and tell us what their favorite parts of our programming are.

Love it.

It's just awesome to hear that feedback.

Yes, indeed.

And we're not done.

Tomorrow, in fact, we will be getting ready to head on over to lunch by the river.

Yep.

We're going to be down about having some fun.

Join us from 1131 at Beautiful Veterans Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids.

If you haven't been there before, you will not miss it.

You get downtown and you'll find it pretty easily.

A lot of people, lots of food trucks.

Look at the food trucks.

Yeah.

We'll have our tent set up.

The entertainment tomorrow is manic on Tuesday.

I love that name.

It's a great name.

It's such a great name.

Yep.

And we're co-sponsoring with Paper City Savings Bank, so you'll see us down there.

And I think most of us are going to try to stop by when we can.

I know we're juggling a lot of plates.

Yeah.

I'll be here looking behind the curtain for everybody and everything.

I recorded Rapids Report usually in that time frame, so I'll be doing that.

But as soon as I wrap up, I'll try to get down down there.

And I know that Seth and Pam will be down there.

Yeah.

You're going to try to stop down.

I'm going to try to stop down.

Yep.

Once I get the newsletter out, get that new and deadline.

And Seth, you're going to be broadcasting from there.

Yeah.

We're going to do a shorter broadcast.

A remote from about 1130 to 1230 and invite everyone down.

So check us out on WRI for that one.

And we're, yeah, we'll just, we'll give you a bird's eye view of what's happening down there.

And how wonderful the weather's going to be.

Hint.

Yeah.

Hint.

Power's the bee.

I'll text Brittney.

Yes.

Hint, nudge, nudge.

And it does, I mean, I think we'll be okay.

But anyway, either way, it's going to be a lot of fun.

We want to see you down there.

Join us for lunch by the river.

Bring your appetite, everybody.

It's going to be a good time.

And your cash.

Yes.

Just in case.

Yes.

Some of the vendors don't accept credit cards, but.

So, yeah, to be on the safe side.

We will also this Saturday be at our Southwood County YMCA's bridge to bridge 5K race 1K fun 1 walk.

Yes.

This is for all ages.

A race will start at 830 awards.

We'll begin at 930.

Takes place at beautiful legendary Winterfield right here in Rapids.

We encourage you to register at SWCYMCA.org, SWCYMCA.org.

If you go to the website for the YMCA as well, you can find a registration if you'd rather do it that way.

I will be down there broadcasting from Winterfield with the event.

What I'd like to do is start at the beginning and then wrap up and get all the way to the end of the race.

I don't know how the equipment and all that's going to work out.

We'll see.

If I didn't actually in the same place, I'm not sure the routes.

Oh, yeah.

So, it might end up right there at Winterfield.

So, champ.

So, if this problem solved, champs, you don't have to move the equipment.

You're at the beginning at the end.

Really, I'm excited about this one.

I don't get to do a lot of these.

I'm excited to be out there and about.

It's going to be a lot of fun.

Appreciate the Y having us being a part of this and everything.

I know we've got some members that are looking to be a part of it as well racing and being a part of that.

So, it's going to be great.

And keep in mind, it's a great fundraiser for our Y for them to be able to help out with a lot of the programs that they do.

And certainly the membership for all programs, one of the more important things our Y does.

It helps everyone to keep your members at the Y, no matter what your income is.

All of that is going on.

And we will get into our parking lot party in a little bit.

Talk some more about that as we get people ready for it.

We'll talk about our newsletter in a little bit as well.

But as we're going to break, I just wanted to go ahead and mention this awesome thing that is coming to Nikusa.

We got a circus coming to town.

Circus coming to town, that's right.

A true bona fide circus.

We're not just talking about a couple of carnies with a mac...wack-a-mole.

We have got a tent.

We're going to have acts out there.

The big top.

You're going to have the big top and everything.

They're going to have a clown down there.

Skeeter, the clown is going to be down there doing face painting.

All kinds of cool stuff.

All of this is taking place in beautiful Nikusa this weekend.

This Saturday at Beautiful Riverside Park.

Be sure to get your tickets for this at Beaver's Dime Store,

Rome Outdoors, Nikusa Library, Nikusa BP, Piggly Wiggly.

Get on over to any of those places.

Get your tickets.

Or you could call up right now.

Take us to the circus.

715-424-2600.

Or you can call us through the Civic Media app.

Tell Melissa Seth and I.

One of your favorite things about the circus.

Your favorite rides.

Maybe your favorite food.

Give us any of those.

And we'll give you this little package

that our good friend Heather Sayers put together.

A mission for one adult.

We've got a dollar off pony rides and face painting.

It's nice all the information on here.

It's a cool pepper and merry weather circus.

Do you know they're coming here from Richland Center?

Oh, that's right. Yeah.

They were down there.

Yeah, they were just down there.

Shout out to our friends at Richland.

That's awesome.

You want this package?

Call up and get it everybody.

715-424-2600.

We'll come back after our break with some more fun

on the morning show at WFHR.

Welcome back everybody.

The morning show at 97-5 FM.

WFHR.

Get your feel on the grove.

Get your move in a little bit.

And the morning it's a good idea to stretch.

Get moving.

Dancing a little.

There you go.

That's what we're leading into here

is we're going to get into a topic of fun one I think.

6 weird ways to fit more movement into your day.

Alright.

Weird way.

I'm ready.

There are few things that I hang our head on around here.

There are a couple.

One of them is weird.

Weirdness.

We like the weirdness.

We do that well.

I really haven't figured out how you hung that head on that though.

It's a really weird phrase.

We definitely, definitely.

We corded the market and weird around here.

We definitely have this.

And we're proud of it.

Oh yeah.

CNN Health did a list of 14 ways to move more each day.

It's got the classics like taking the stairs

and parking farther away from stores.

We're getting something downstairs.

You're back up.

Get back down and get it again.

I'm getting your skirt caught in a door.

You know what?

I like the idea of deliberately forgetting something.

Yeah.

Oh shoot.

I forgot mine.

I forgot to lock the door last night.

So I had to go back down again and lock it and come back up again.

But some of these are a little more creative.

So do you already do any of this stuff?

You can maybe even mark these off on your own little checklist in your head today.

I do a little more movement than I thought.

There you go.

Yeah.

Otherwise you can find maybe some fun ways or maybe easier or simpler ways to include

more movement in your day.

Yeah.

Do some squats while heating up food in the microwave.

Squats specifically.

Yes.

Yes.

And please with these, do not if you live with somebody else.

Don't explain why.

Don't explain it.

Just do it.

Just do it.

Of course.

That's what you need to do with all of these.

Yes.

So people give you that.

Even if it's for 30 seconds, it adds up.

You've already got a built-in timer.

Fair.

You know how long you earn and everything.

If you get really good, then you can do like baked potatoes.

Like six minutes or whatever in the microwave.

Ten minutes while squats.

Yeah.

Just come on.

Yeah.

Feel the burn.

I am so under.

Ready for this potato.

I love the idea of.

I can add more sour cream.

The intensity of working out while staring at food.

Yeah.

I like that.

It's its own reward.

There you go.

Pick a favorite show and make yourself work out whenever you watch it.

Okay.

The downside is it might soon become your least favorite show.

Yeah.

Or if, no.

I will take this idea and just kind of spin it a little bit.

I would take maybe your favorite comedy or reruns.

Your favorite show to rerun.

Something you've already seen.

Yeah.

You're kind of half-tuned in, but you also care a little bit.

I think one of the fun things to do is going back and watching show.

Particularly sitcom shows that you watch this show.

It may even be a current show.

But you watch an episode and you're like, oh, I forgot all about that.

Oh, I completely forgot that.

You could be the biggest fan of the world.

You noticed things that you didn't notice the first or third group.

And that's a perfect time.

Okay.

Especially a sitcom.

21, 22 minutes.

That's what you're supposed to write.

Actives 20 minutes a day.

Right?

There you go.

You have the perfect time.

I'm not there.

Oh, man.

I wonder.

I wonder if this would work with a podcast as well.

Yeah.

You're not sure what a podcast is getting a workout in that kind of thing.

Yeah.

Don't listen to hardcore history, though.

No.

No.

Or worse.

Unless you really need to catch up on your workouts.

It doesn't work that way.

It's like, oh, I have a worked out for 30 years.

Oh, my gosh.

I got to do it all alone.

I just did one for our podcast.

I'm good.

This is one.

I love the idea of that.

And you're done working out the rest of your life.

Yeah.

I got four hours.

I'm good.

I do one like this a little bit.

It's more so when I'm making my coffee.

But do calf raises while brushing your teeth?

Or as my ballet teacher said, relevance.

Yep.

Do relevance as you're brushing your teeth.

So how long?

Like what the generally accepted length of brushing your teeth?

Like two minutes.

I think that's what it's supposed to be.

Yeah.

See, that's not bad.

Yeah.

Maybe you make the two minutes go back.

But it depends how much you like to brush your teeth, I guess.

Yeah.

But I will say I have got like little to no meat or muscle on my bones.

My calves are good.

Okay.

There you go.

And it's just because of doing stuff like this and everything too.

It's not just that.

But it's one of those things that keeps up on it.

My papa drove semi for 50 years, like it latent life in his late 70s, calves like rocks.

Because back in the day, the trucks, the way you had to drive, you had to have some, you

know, you had to be a little, at least double clutching, some strength or any gears.

Pop that clutch.

Yeah.

He kept that up in part, I didn't know by doing things like this.

I don't know that how much he thought about it or anything like that.

I think some of it was habit.

Some of it was.

But it makes sense when you're sitting all day long, you know.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Don't sit when you're on the phone.

You might have two if it's at work, a work call or something like that, or your

coach or computer.

But if you're just catching up with a friend or pacing around or something like that,

try pacing around that.

As long as you have a good connection, because if I walk around in parts of my house while

I'm on the phone, it drops out.

It's a terrible excuse, Melissa.

I know.

The one thing that I always did when I was on the phone with my mom or my grandma is

I would dust.

Oh, that's a good one.

No, here's what you need to do, Melissa, is you need to put the phone on speaker, set

it down, and then walk around and just talk louder the way and then we get closer, you

just go like that.

And then you have to worry about the connection people will be like hung up on what are you

doing?

How are our generations not in perfect shape with the set with the phone, the old phone

and everything?

Yeah, right.

Walk around with the cord and stuff like that.

We should all be in great shape, having to do all that.

We should also be really good at coordination and working with other people and stuff.

What duck?

You need to get the cord over your sister's head or something.

Yeah, it's like doing jumping jacks, right?

Carry your groceries to the car.

That one makes sense if you can carry them all at once.

No one's making multiple trips and of course, certainly, if you are getting food for a whole

family or something.

That's a lot of use of car to yeah, you can't, yeah, yeah.

But I feel like most people do this already.

I don't know many people that want to bring a cart with them if they got one or two bags.

Right, yeah, exactly.

Something you can handle.

Or unless you have something like a back injury or something like that that you, it's

probably not a good idea to over strain yourself doing that.

Or up, here's another idea, nothing but great ideas on the show today by the way.

So what you want to do is just get enough for two bags every time you go shopping.

You just go shopping more?

Yeah, exactly.

And then you can, you know, when you're walking out, you can work on your triceps, you

know?

You know what?

Seth.

You can go all the way down by your dish.

That's, well, this is brilliant stuff.

I don't know what you're talking about, man.

That's a, it's not.

It's your time in the store.

No.

No, thank you.

This is all going into my book, what I learned from being on radio.

Okay.

You know that?

I can't wait to read that.

Nothing but great hints, you know, from this show, yeah.

And finally, rush through your chores.

A recent study actually backed that one up.

Things like vacuuming faster or hustling when you take out the trash can boost your heart

rate and count as a mini workout.

Okay.

But if you vacuum faster, you're going to have to vacuum more often because the faster

you move that vacuum, the less it sucks up.

And then you get another workout.

See, there's no wrong thing about this, Melissa.

I don't know what your problem is.

I just, I have one to add.

Okay.

All right.

And, and I do this specifically in the winter, when I'm pumping gas, I'll do parodettles,

which is a, which is a tap step, but it's basically just, you know, your front and

your back, but I like that.

Because then you're, you're not moving a ton, but you're moving enough to stay warm.

And yeah, and it's para, para, para, doodle, para, doodle.

Which is, I think you should go a little further though.

I think you can, you, some ballet, but it would be nice.

Yeah.

Is that what you want to, you want to watch while somebody's doing their pumping their

gas?

Yeah, exactly.

On the ice.

And it's entertaining.

Yeah.

To other people.

I mean, come on.

I've given them a show at the same time.

I like no downside.

I like the, uh, the, uh, a lot of the chair workouts that they have for offices.

Uh, then you can do, uh, those I've done a little of those, those are fun.

I like adding on with that.

I like, um, any of this, too.

And going back to where we started the show and everything with, uh, you know, getting

out there and moving more, anything that's getting you moving more, so there's so much

that motion is lotion.

Yeah.

There's so much that is, uh, actual exercise that we just don't tag as exercise.

We don't always say it.

Absolutely.

That's very sure.

That's my workout routine.

Yeah.

Right.

Anything but an exercise.

I really cleaning it.

Just in general.

I think it doesn't work out.

I'm telling you.

It's a great dance.

It is.

I, uh, I like all of this.

I will say and as something that I'm learning more, more way latent life and it's very

difficult to rewire my brain of, I am the classic definition of a multi-tasker.

And, and wanting to do more with my time and oh, I can always, I can be doing this.

I, I can be sitting there with the microwave going and I'm just sitting there.

Well, those are, I'm just wasting time here.

I should be doing something.

I should be an active.

And with that, I have completely lost the moment.

I, I, I, I, I am very seldom in the moment and I'm trying very much more to be in the

moment and to do more of those things.

Slow down.

Take a breath.

It is important to take your time with some of this stuff.

I like, I like their intention with the, the moving a lot and going faster and faster

or vacuuming and some of these things.

But with that, you also could be put, you know, causing more harm than good.

It doesn't always balance out.

Everybody is different.

So when you're, when you're looking for ways to find and put more exercise into your

day and into your life and everything, know yourself, know your body, work with that.

Don't push yourself.

That doesn't accomplish.

Stretch.

Yes.

And if anything else, stretching, and that's all you do, stretch.

And by the way, stretching, I, I find it like good.

It feels great.

Like a workout doesn't always feel right.

Sometimes it's a good burn and some of that.

But stretching always feels good.

I don't know.

Well, yeah.

Well, if you're, if you're most of the time, if you're doing it too hard, then you're

doing it wrong.

That's what I was thinking.

Well, I mean, we were always told to stretch to avoid injuries, nothing more embarrassing

than, you know, a vacuum injury, you know, right, yeah, I pulled my glute.

I was doing the vacuuming too fast.

How did you get injured?

Well, you know, me and that broom, a funny, funny story.

I, I, I really do believe that no matter what in life, whether this microphone is on

or not, it, you know, the, we got to be honest with each other.

We got to be real with each other.

The old Mark Twain phrase.

If you, if you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

If I injured myself vacuuming, nobody would ever know.

Nobody.

James, how did you pull your hammy football?

Yeah.

Except the story keeps changing in the hall every time you tell it.

How did you put your back out getting out of bed?

Yeah.

Well, just a way that's less embarrassing.

I don't know.

No, it's not.

Like she's owning it.

She's owning it.

I, I, I am wholeheartedly admitting I'm using, you know, if I injured myself in some ridiculous

way, you will never know.

Why do you smell like icy hot today?

Well, I sneezed in my back, really hurt.

Just as totally, totally out of whack.

Father time is undefeated.

We will come back, we will come back and wrap up the show.

And I have a list of the six teams with the worst odds to make it to the Super Bowl.

I'm going to make the guys pick a team and then you got to defend the team.

That's evilness.

It's just, it's really, really intense.

I mean horrible.

I deserve all the back pain I'm going through right now.

I wish we hadn't talked about that.

I'm sorry.

No, no, no, no.

I'm joking.

No, all these thinking about it.

It had been there anyway.

It had been there.

You're waiting for me anyway.

All that's coming up today.

Every second Wednesday of the month, the Cowboy Union Jam performs over at Macmillan Library here in Rapids from 1 to 3.

Public is a welcome to this free show.

They're going to mix a country, bluegrass gospel, really good band, really fun to hear them.

It's a ripping good time.

Join the Cowboy Union Jam today from 1 to 3.

It should be a lot of fun.

Melissa, Macmillan has another concert coming up as well as they got a bit of a series going on over there.

This is a free concert.

John Gorka is going to be playing on August 28th at 7 p.m.

This is the Macmillan concert series lighting up the Fine Arts Theatre.

And there's ones in September, October and November.

You want a pony folk?

I want to see them on September 4th.

But it's awesome that they have these free concerts.

I'm music at the library.

And that little theater is so cool.

I am so upset.

My family and I are going to be out of town on the 28th.

I'm a huge John Gorka fan.

I remember him coming to Duluth.

The college radio station up in Duluth, KUMD, is one of the best radio stations in the country.

If you ask me, a lot of good college day.

But they were enough.

They would draw all the big folk acts up there.

And John Gorka came there many, many times.

So I'm a huge fan of his.

And I'm not going to be here.

Oh, no.

It's so easy folk.

Yes.

He's a very famous in the folk circles.

Yes.

For many, many years.

That's to get him to come back to town.

Yes.

Absolutely.

You can go to MacmillanLibrary.org to find out more information.

Because while this is all cool that they're doing over there,

they got so many different things they're doing over there.

They're in Macmillan, somewhere in everybody.

Lots of fun stuff.

Support our local library.

Everybody head on over there.

Check that out.

And of course, again, we'll meet you at lunch by the river tomorrow.

We're looking forward to that.

1131.

And a week from today, we will be opening our doors for the whole community.

For everybody that wants to come on down.

We got our open house party coming up next Wednesday from noon to six.

Parking lot party here at WFHR and WIRI.

We're going to have food trucks here.

You can get food, a sweet treats truck.

We're going to have games for the kids.

We're going to have so many local nonprofit and group organizations

are going to have booths and tables with information.

You'll get to tour the studio.

You'll get to try some desserts during our staff.

Desert competition cook off.

Vote for your favorite.

Yeah, vote for your favorite.

I know what somebody's making because they added it to the spreadsheet.

Thank you.

Very well done.

Yes.

And excited to see what the rest of our staff is coming up with.

I don't know if we will sneak peak to our listeners.

What they're going to get to try.

But you know, you might have to just come and try them and vote.

We have a celebrity judge that has been confirmed for that.

An old hand here at the station.

Milk Steel will be here as our celebrity chef or not chef.

A celebrity judge for that.

And of course, people will know that the last cookbook that WFHR did.

He graces the cover of it.

We thought we could bring him back and he graciously said he would come and do that.

That's awesome.

Be our celebrity judge.

Just can't wait to do that as well.

Chuck and I were talking about what the next cover is.

James, wait till you hear it.

Oh, I can't wait to hear that.

That's awesome.

We're so proud of this.

But we can't put that cookbook together without you guys out there.

We need your recipes.

Yeah.

Bring your recipes on down.

You can email them to us as well.

And just think of that recipe being forever and trying to do our book and around forever.

We'll be collecting them for a while after the party as well.

We will.

Yep, because it's not going to come out till our actual anniversary.

November or somewhere.

Yeah.

We'll be broadcasting live here at WFHR from N2 and then over on 105, 5WRI.

Katie's going to be broadcasting.

Katie's going to be broadcasting her normal shift.

Katie will be here broadcasting from the parking lot.

Because she wants to be where all the action is and she wants to do it.

We'll meet you here next Wednesday.

Have a great day.

Everyone.
