Mornings with WFHR · Wed Aug 13, 2025

Good morning, Wisconsin. Morning, world. It's the new day. Thanks for kicking it off

with us at ninety-seven five-epim WFHR.

Your host, James here, joined by our head of news, our co-host, Melissa K. Good morning.

Good morning. Good morning. Along with the best listeners and radio. Thanks for being

here, everybody. Hope you're having a great start to your Wednesday out there. I'll be

humped day everybody. We're going to have some fun. Next couple of hours. We're going to

get into our LCAP birthday anniversary club. That's right around the corner. Looking forward

to that. We're going to talk a little bit about our eastern half of the U.S. here and some

of the muggiest weather that they're dealing with. We just missed Brittany, so we want to

talk weather. We've got a couple of other fun ones here. The Seinfeld fan competition

dance. I want to talk about. Oh dear. And Americans dream vacation destinations. What are

they? We'll get into all of that. Got some fun entertainment news, including a story

Melissa sent over. I want to get into that one. Talk about some local events in the ten

o'clock hour as well. We're going to be out in about a bunch over the next week or so.

And of course, we're going to be inviting you over our date from a week from now. We

got our open house. Pack a lot party. All that coming up. And I got a couple of other

ones. We want to touch on their newsletter. I got a great article from the Good News Network

about these students in Maine and what they're doing with the detention. And instead of

a detention, what they're doing with the students about this. And six, where is this? Six

weird ways to fit more movement into your day. I need this. Yeah. You would be both. I

hear you. I got a couple of other things we'll have fun with. And of course, we'll get into

our schedule, local events and all of that. I don't know how your guys this morning started.

I'd like to find out. I know for me, I was running around a little late, which I'm not

used to. And my fur brother, Sam, who I've mentioned is a little bit older. And he's having

a hard time seeing. Sam is almost blind. But Sam is like a lot of dogs very, very polite.

And he gets worried about getting stepped down or getting in anybody's way. But Sam also

does this thing. Like we've all had the situation. You're walking down the hall and somebody

else is walking down. He's like, Oh, oh, sorry. Oh, excuse me. You know, you can do that

dance. I do this dance with Sam every morning. And I mean, I'm trying it like I love

little guy so much, but he drives me insane, right? Because he's trying to get out of the

way. But he's going exactly where I'm going to step. It's like he knows. But I know he's

trying not to do that. Poor baby. Poor little guy. So we were doing that. I smelled some

coffee. It was that kind of morning. But how was yours, Melissa? You know, it was an adventure

getting here this morning. Yeah. So apparently I'm getting a new roof today. Oh, that's

fun to find out at six in the morning. Well, they didn't show up until about seven

thirty. And I did have warning. I just didn't I didn't get it in the full detail. So I

went down and then, okay, yep, I don't need to do anything except call and wake up the

neighbor and ask them to move their car. And then as I'm trying to leave to come here

to go out my door, because there's like I heard a buffalo on my roof. So I can't do any

recording at home. Right. So I'm running out the door. And you know, if I have a skirt

on today, as you guys can see, our listeners can't have a skirt on. And I'm carrying our

parking lot party signs that I finished at home. My, you know, briefcase with my computer

and everything in it, my coffee, my water. I've got all this stuff in my hands. And as

I'm coming down the stairs to come outside, they're throwing shingles and old roof stuff

off right over my front door. Oh dear. So I'm like, okay, I got a time this right, right?

Okay. So I'm, I get out the door. I locked it before I shut it and then I shut it. And

I shut my skirt in the door. Oh, and I couldn't pull it out. So I had to set stuff down.

I had to get my keys out of my purse that was inside of my briefcase that was, and there's

a guy sitting in the truck on the street just kind of like I, I didn't look at him, but

I was pretty sure he was laughing at me because, you know, I tried the tug and I was not

getting the skirt out. So I had to unlock the door. And as these things are flying over

my head and like a piece of rough thing lands on my, okay, just don't go in my coffee. So

I managed to get my door unlocked and I pulled my skirt out and I re-lock it and I shut

it. And I'm coming down the stairs and that guy's just got the biggest grin on his face.

And I waived my signs out of, I walked my car. Are you guys, are you guys secretly like

in sitcoms or something like that? It feels like it really sounds like it's morning.

Wow. Look around for cameras. It's like, wait a minute. I don't know what to do with

a normal morning. I don't know when things go right and I'm sitting here and I'm waiting

to go on air. I'm like, okay, what's happening? What's going to happen? When's the other

shoe going to drop? There's, there's, I don't, this just happened a lot with skirts or

dresses and or anything getting cuck. Cause I have this happen with my keys all the time.

I've got a thing on my keys here that this, like a lanyard. Yeah. Thank you. A lanyard.

Yeah. I think of the name. But and I also don't know where my keys are right now. Oh,

dear. They're stuck somewhere. That's exactly what happened. They're stuck in the door.

So where something like that? Yeah. That just happens all the time. It seems like to me

at least. So I just redid this skirt. And, um, and I put a zipper in it because it's

longer on two sides and it's shorter on two sides. Well, now I have the long sides on

the sides. So it's short in the front and the back. And it's long in the sides. And as

I close the door, it just, you worked on it. No, I also have not worn this skirt and

probably five years, six, no, maybe closer to six years. So nice. It's used to end

every day. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So Seth, top that, um, no, no, what are you

talking about? I had my coffee. Yeah. That's a more normal, normal, another set height

in my family. You know, it was all that's all I did. Yeah. We need them around here.

When we do some normal, normal, uh, we do encourage people. We embrace the unnormal around

here. It's kind of our thing. It's one of our things that we do. And, and, um, well, the

phrase is dance like nobody's watching. I've always, I like the idea of living like nobody's

watching too. I think that that's something that actually could in modern times could actually

have a lot of meaning to it with how much we are camera. Everybody's got a camera. How

much we're on camera and how much we are taking pictures of ourselves and all of that.

Well, uh, the Brooklyn Cyclones, a minor league baseball team based in New York held its annual

Seinfeld night promotion, where an Elaine dance contest told the show. Oh, good. Um, when

we think of dance like nobody's watching, of course, Elaine from Seinfeld, the image

of her, uh, pops at her head. The team has held Seinfeld night promotion since 2014. And

this year's event featured a contest to emulate the dance performed by Elaine Venice,

the great Julia Louis Dreyfus in season eight episode, The Little Kicks. Uh, it's funny

that she really didn't do this that much in the show. No, there's like ones. What's

a 20 twice, maybe two, three times that that's about it. Yeah. Uh, Major League Baseball

shared a video of the event on social media showing dancers of all ages, many in Elaine

cosplay attempting the dance described by George Costanza as a full body dry. He's set

to music. Oh boy. I believe if I have this right, Jason Alexander made up that line

to just watching her in the moment. Just right. That's what he sounds. Sounds like

Seff you'd say. Olivia Vessel, a New York-based actress, was named the winner of the contest.

Uh, congratulations to her. Yeah. Fans attending the Seinfeld night also received a limited

edition Kramer bottlehead to victim a painted painting of Kramer. Uh, that famous, uh,

famous picture of him. Right. Right. It's, it's kind of done in the style of the scream

or whatever. Yeah. I will try to show you guys a little of this here. I don't know how

much you can necessarily see, but I do love it. Oh, they're all dressed up like her. I

love that they're in the 90s dresses. Yeah. I don't, I don't, I, it feels like that's

the only error those dresses were around. I don't know if I see him anymore, but I love

the little kids kicking each other. Oh, that's so cute. This little girl, there's a, I

encourage people to check out the video. There's a little girl in the video that is working

on her tail. She trained. She worked at this. That one's really good. The blue dress. Yeah,

I believe that was the winner because she kind of looks like the character. Kind of shows

too. Uh, and, and the other thing about, I, hmm, I feel a little weird saying this myself,

but is it weird that I don't know that I like an actor winning it? I feel like that

you're almost cheap. That I was cheating almost. They didn't specify. No, you know, they

got to, they got to do the best. So yeah, I give it to them there. It does, if they look

like they're having some kind of fit. Yeah. It doesn't look healthy. It doesn't think

it's good for the body. Throw your back out doing that. A little bit later, we're going

to be doing these simple, weird exercises to get movement in your day. I think we just

did that. What we're going to, I'm not trying that. No, no, no, no, no. Um, this isn't traction.

Yeah. Right. That's what would happen. So one thing that I, I encourage people when

it comes to dancing, because I really do think dancing is fun. And everybody should feel

free to dance, no matter if you got two left feet, 20 left feet, whatever it is. If you

got 20 left feet, please, I want to see a video of this. If you have 20 left feet, maybe

you're a good dancer, maybe, you know, you got more to work with. I don't have everything

out of me. Um, but I, uh, I think that one of the things that isn't, to, to remind people

about that is the way to get comfortable with it is doing it. Yeah. Practice repetition.

Get out there. Now that's dancing alone. Maybe that's dancing with your, your, your furry

friend or something like that at home or when you're out in public and you hear a song

you like and you're, you're, you're, that boy, you're, you're tempted. All your instincts,

your senses want to get out there. Like you want to move that voice in the back of your

head is saying, don't do it. You make a fool yourself. Shut that voice up. That voice

is not your friend. That voice is not rude for you. Yes. Uh, push against that voice. Get

out there and do your thing. If a lane can do it, you can do it. Yeah. There you go.

I think everybody should be out there dancing. It's fun. And I also think that some of

those floral dresses should come back. Uh, I can see some of them. I can see some of

those color patterns for sure. Well, maybe not the style, but the patterns and the fabric.

Yeah. Yeah. Oh, the fabric, I bet. Yeah. Uh, and we want your, uh, we want your

mornings. We want to hear how your morning went. If it went normal, that's fine. That's

what we need to hear. Yes. If you had a crazy morning, we'll join the company. That's,

all right. Well, that's so we can keep going here. Yeah. Right. Keep that going

every morning. You want to call it and tell us how your morning's going, especially

if it's chaotic. Share in the chaos with us. That's what makes this all fun. Uh, it

really. That's right. We laugh at ourselves around here because we get the joke. We will

take a time out. We'll come back and have some more fun on the morning show at WFH

You heard the boys time to do some celebrating with L Cafe and our birthday and anniversary

club. We encourage you to treat yourself. Get on over to L Cafe to 21 Market Avenue. Beautiful

port Edwards. Wish them a great day from all of us by local support local and eat more

pie. Mm hmm. Sorry. Seth wrote this segment. I'm sorry. I stuck that. I got stuck that

line in there. Yeah. Share the pie council is going to try to get it in somewhere. Well,

they have pies there. Why wouldn't you eat them? That's a good point. Dutch apple, triple

berry, lemon meringue, cherry crumb, milk, cafe banana, split. That's a good chocolate

fudge, rhubarb, all the cow rhubarb. Hey rhubarb right now. Just rhubarb. Yep. I'm a

wee man. I'm a chuck here. Uh, yeah. I'm just seeing rhubarb. Yeah. Oh, that's looks

good. Looks good. I haven't gotten any rhubarb this year. And that's really sad. I'm bummed

about it. I need to get some rhubarb seriously. It's a weed. It's like. It doesn't grow in

my yard. The only thing the only edible thing growing in my yard right now is lambs

quarters. Okay. Which is spinach light. Okay. Thank you. You're welcome. I mean, I knew

to the audience. You know, you said that you're about to know that. I enjoyed our friends

over at El Café. They knew that. They, they know, they know a lot more. Head on over

there. Enjoyed them today and of course, we want your birthdays and anniversaries. Get

them to us. We want to celebrate with you. You can email us info at wfhr.com. Direct

messages on our Facebook pages, whether it's wfhr or wi, right? And call on up that number

is 715 424 2600. It's an easy dial. If you've got the civic media app, because you don't

have to punch in any numbers, feel free to reach out to us. Everybody, we love live and

birthdays and anniversaries have some speed dial by now. Yeah. No, no. We have four possible

qualifiers. Melissa, I need a one through four. Oh, man. I think I chose four the last

time we had four. So I have to choose two. Okay. All right. So there it is. There we go.

We got our call of front that that that that that that that down. Right. So we can get

right into when you're right. You're doing the pen dance over there. I can't help it.

I don't know what's going on lately. Why I'm doing this. But I yeah, I should just turn

my bike off when I'm doing it. First of all, we want to wish a very happy birthday to

civic media's own Arthur Frida. Yeah. Yeah. The Arthur have the great day, sir. Great

name. Great name. Yeah. Yeah. Enjoy your day, Arthur. Great sales people. Yeah. We really

appreciate the work of Arthur and that saves team. Appreciate you, everybody. And I want

to say a very happy birthday to my cousin, really, my sister, Lisa. Happy birthday, Lisa.

Lisa and I, she is my cousin, but as close as we've always been, she's more like a sister

to me and everything. Lisa's sister cousin. Yeah. Yeah. She's amazing. I love Lisa. She,

it's funny too. When we were younger, we looked a lot more alike and people thought her

and I were more sisters than my own sister and I. Oh, that's interesting. It is interesting

how much cousins can look like cousins. Yeah. I was noticing that at my family camp out

this weekend earlier. Yep. Before, you know, when I was there that have a great day,

Lisa. Enjoy your day. Talk to you a little later. Looking for it at our local list here,

a very happy birthday to Jenny. Damaroo. Damaroo. How would you say that, Melissa? That first

top name. Damaroo. Damaroo. Oh, yeah. I don't know. Yeah. That's right. Jenny. What

ever. Jenny. Enjoy your day. Call up and tell us how to say your name, please. Yes. You

can miss for now. It's all of our names. Yes. Enjoy your day. Jenny. Hope it's good

work. Happy birthday. We wish a very happy birthday to Elliot Wirt. Happy birthday,

Elliot. My really like. Yeah. Elliot's a great name. Yeah. Enjoy the day. Elliot. Have a good one.

And plus you can go go go by Eli. I like Eli. Not like that name. It's a good name.

And we wish a very happy birthday to our good friend here at not only this studio and these stations,

but of course in this community and at UW Extension. Matt Lippert. Happy birthday, Matt. Happy

birthday, Matt. Our ag agent over there at UW Extension. Matt joins us every other month around

that time. Pretty much. Yeah. I have learned so much from Matt. I am such a city boy. And I

learned that more and more every time Matt's in with me and I find out something else. And

one of the things that I appreciate about Matt, Matt comes from a dairy family. A dairy

works on a dairy farm has a dairy farm. He has a dairy farm. Yep. And we get not just somebody

talking about the dairy industry, but somebody that is in the dairy industry that also knows his

stuff. Right. And just enjoy talking with them over the years. Enjoy your day, Matt. We appreciate

you. Hope it's a good one. And our qualifier celebrating their 49th anniversary. Warren and Peggy

Mertens. What? And Peggy? Happy anniversary. Happy anniversary. Enjoy your day, you two. Happy

49th. Man, that's awesome. Happy 49th. Enjoy. Married on August 13th. Wow. That's a good little

superstition there. No, no. And it's been very 49 years. See? No, I got married on October 13th,

the second time. And that did not end well. So not because you're superstitious.

And it was also a Friday. Oh, man. Well, so what? Yeah, but get out of here. I worked out.

You'd be able to say the opposite. Well, that was the plan. Yeah. Right. Yeah. But the other way

around did everything, of course, that's what do you got for me? Good morning. I had a typo.

I'm sorry. It should be 59. That was my. That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. That's all right.

It's good. Warren and Peggy. Happy 59th anniversary. Doesn't change the fact you're still qualified.

Yeah. But we just, but we want to get it right. 59 is way cool. So yeah, it would be kind of

funny though. No, I'm sorry. We can't have anybody over 59. You're a qualifier.

So congratulations. And thank you. We look at who you share your birthday and anniversary with

Sebastian Stanis 43, the winter soldier in the Marvel universe, which is where he got his real

break, but he has been all over the place since then. Been in a couple of different roles and even

gotten us an Oscar, some Emmy nominee nominations and everything has really shown to be a complete

actor and has really taken the ball and run with it. I have heard some concerns about watering

down the market a little bit with him working too much over exposure to that. I say, keep doing

your thing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, they got to say no to you. And he's I guarantee at the age

of 43, he's been waiting for this for, you know, 30 some years for this. Yeah. Yeah. You know,

right. Take it. Yeah. Run with it. Danny Bennett, Donna, Ducci is 66. Wow. Wow.

Yeah. That just threw me his name didn't throw me to say it was the age. I didn't expect that.

I mean, it makes sense. Obviously. Yeah. Right. I didn't think anybody to Ducci 66. Wow.

Let's see here. And Kevin Taigi is 81. John Locke, John Locke's father in lost. He was also

the con man who ruined Sawyer's life and all that. But he is one of the better character actors

of all time. You know him as the double douche bar. He was the owner of that in Roadhouse.

The eldest among you and the emergency series back in the day. Yeah. It's a great character.

If you've seen him, you know what he looks like. You know exactly. I think his name is Brown's

Teague. Teague. I think it is Brown's Teague. But yeah. Jocelyn Elders is 92. The first African

American surgeon general. Yes. Wow. She's still alive. That's amazing. That's so cool. Yeah.

92. Nice. And then some people no longer with us. Like one of the greatest directors of all time

in the King of Suspense. Alfred Hitchcock born on this day in 1899. I got ruined for horror movies

really early in life where they just didn't do anything for me. But suspense movies will get me

the rest of my life. Good suspense movie will get me the rest of my life. Good evening.

There is and it's all because of Hitchcock. Not and I would just sit there and we would go from

watching like I love Lucy episodes to Vertigo or or like one of these things. Yeah. Yeah. Right.

Yeah. And and the cool thing now, my papa was really into filmmaking and in the heart of it.

And you know, showing me and talking about stuff that we're going on. How do they do this and that?

Nana was so about story and and talking during the story and trying to figure out the mystery

together. We do it with Colombo episodes and everything. I don't know how much of the movie or

the movie or TV shows we actually heard. I don't know because she just she was so back watching.

I don't remember this. What? But she had such a love of what of the art of what Hitchcock could do.

She to her, she felt like, well, it's not hard to scare people. But could you get people to be

scared and still care? It's still involved. Still want to watch not so much covering the

rise, but can't help but look. That was her thing. And I thought that I still to this day don't

think there's been anybody better than Hitchcock at it. The couple of things about him that were

really remarked. First of all, his wicked sense of humor. Yeah. Which I mean, in the movies,

there's some of it. But if you watch his intros to the old Alfred Hitchcock presents presents

shows, I mean, that really comes into full. I mean, he did. He had so much fun with those. Yeah.

I love that one. Also, he pioneered the the the process of editing in camera. Yeah. Which means

he plotted everything out. So he did a minute. He knew exactly what he wanted. He didn't have to do

a lot of takes. And he didn't have to submit his films to an editor afterwards. So he had control.

He did it kind of. He did a sneaky way of doing it because he knew what he wanted. And he was like,

I'm not going to subject to an editor was going to, you know, don't let somebody else touch it.

Right. Exactly. And there's I mean, I'm surprised more more directors don't do that. But maybe it's

not such a big thing anymore. But when he was doing it, it was a big deal. Uh, when he, uh, Martin

Scorsese to this day does that because of a Hitchcock, I believe. And I know the Tarantino Rodriguez,

a lot of the younger directors do the same thing. And it all starts with Hitchcock doing that. Yeah.

Brett, uh, Bert Lauer is, uh, uh, Bart Lauer would have been celebrating a birthday today,

too. The cowardly line. And there was a lot. Oh, no, I got to step back too. Yeah. Oh, that was great. Yeah.

That was good. That was good. Bert Lauer was so funny. I mean, you check him out on some old radio

shows and stuff. He was a very funny, great voice. Yeah. And a great voice. And Dan Fulgerberg,

uh, would have been celebrating a birthday on this day, born in 1951. Of course, uh, leader of the

band, uh, same, uh, same old Lang Sain and, uh, the longer. Yes. Longer is one of the most beautiful

love songs of all time. Right. I, I will die on that hill that I am an 80s kid. I will admit that.

But, uh, the song longer is one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear. If he,

that's all he had done. Yes. He had that to hang his hat on. He wrote, he wrote some very,

uh, some very emotional songs. I thought he's a very good stuff. It's a good way to put it. Yeah. Yeah,

definitely. Uh, and, uh, let's see here. Oh, and Don Ho, uh, born in the state of 1930. Tiny bubbles.

Oh, Don Ho, one of the biggest stars in Hawaiian. I mean, he was a star in the United States,

you know, the, the continental United States. But he was like a god in Hawaii. He was like one of the

most famous people there. I bet you, I bet you he's still like, I don't know if he's household,

but I bet she's still well-known. I bet you. I bet she is. That, that, that, just that legacy.

And I think, uh, we are going to, that is going to do it for the birthdays and anniversaries,

but we encourage all of you qualifiers and friends of ours out there to head on over to Elcafe,

treat yourself, get on over there today, 221 Market Avenue and beautiful port Edwards.

Yes, we'll be back after our news, sports, entertainment, and partner break. And when we get back,

we're talking about our eastern half of the country and some of the mugginess they are dealing with.

We'll get into some of that when we come back on the morning show at WFHR.

Welcome back, everyone. Summer time, and the living is easy. Not for us.

That's, that's, that's easy for us, buddha. This is a bit of a sad good play to send.

Melissa said that James here with you, summertime show, hope you're having a good one out there.

Thanks so much for joining us, everybody. Going to get in some fun events. We're going to be doing

out and about at coming up in a bunch of other things, but when we're out and about, we're not

going to be dealing with a lot of the heat that they are in some parts of the country. Yeah,

at least right now, and the way it looks right now and everything quite nice day today.

The eastern half of the U.S. is having the its muggiest summer since 1981.

That stretches from the Mississippi Valley to the East Coast and 22 entire states.

Plus, Washington, D.C. have said at least 44 year highs. Wow.

Dew point temps are at a measure of how much moisture is in the air, and they have soared to

sauna-like highs. And scientists say it's an effect of climate change and fossil fuel pollution.

Corn sweat is also a factor. Yep. Something that I think we need to learn more and more about.

A certain temperature that the corn sweats. I have never heard that phrase before.

Wow. Look it up. It's a fun rabbit hole to dive down.

A little side story here, something that when Michael and I get to hang out and everything,

of course, we talk a lot of sports and everything, but Michael is also growing corn and does a lot of

some farming. Yeah. And he's been kind of let me see a lot of this stuff. How the corn is made.

So it's been cool to me on that perspective, but it's also my I've always had a lot of empathy for

our farmers in part because I don't know as much about the industry. And when I do hear things,

it's usually stuff that's droughts or these kind of things and some of the hardships that come

with it right now. I think even a you know I think one thing that might get lost in the shuffle

sometimes, everybody that I knew that had a city background, city life had all the respect in

the world for the ag industry and everything. Just don't know a whole lot about it. Right.

But certainly a lot of understanding of, hey, you guys are the backbone of our country.

Right. That's where our food comes from. So thanks. Appreciate you.

But stuff like corn sweat and these kind of things like that's in stuff for us to learn. I think

everything it's important to start popping on the on the ears. And then we should worry.

Then we need to start having some concern. That could only happen in the fall.

This was this was this has also been the second most humid summer for the US as a whole

dating back to 1981. Wow. And the average dew point temperature for June and July has

slowly risen throughout the past four decades. Wow. Yeah. Well, but there's no evidence. Sorry.

No, there's no evidence. No, no, no, no, none of it yet. But this summer has been particularly

bad. Here are some things that weren't around in 1981. The last time it was this human in the

Eastern US. Okay. Cabbage patch kids. Wow. Man, that's a big sweat. No. I wanted one of those so

bad when I was a little girl. I never got one, but I wanted one. I and that's why she's so

better today. I have no idea what I have no idea what the Statua limitations are on something

like this. But if I told you to what my father went through to get my sister in cabbage. Oh,

dear. Yeah. Your eyes would never blink again. Yeah. Never blink again. It is a you may want to

be careful. Yeah. Well, it's it wasn't actually too bad. I'm making it so much worse than it was,

but man, that man, I can't believe that. And Bob, I can make a movie out of it. This this was a time

when where you had to not only get there early, but you had to fight basically to get these toys.

It was like it was like a black Friday kind of thing. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So that's all I mean.

It said what my dad did. He like going through that being in line. All those things. These are

not things that he don't believe. He didn't do it for me. It's like that. Wow. You didn't want

a doll. No, no, no. It's right. And I was that kid that I was just so thankful to whatever I got.

Like they could give me a box. I'm like going on a box. I'm going to be so excited. I even have to

wait in line for me. CD players. Yeah. Yeah. CD players. We still have them, but we do. We do.

But they're becoming more and more rare. My my CD player stereo system that I had was

actual stereo. Because I could detach the speakers and move them around. And the thing was like

surround sound twice the size of a bread box. This is the best. Yep. Yeah. They didn't always have

the best cord wrap in the back, but they were that was great. No, and it was pretty cheap because

yeah, it was cheap, but yeah. So I have to I just say one thing though about that physical media as

a thing is actually coming back more. I hope CDs are actually kind of getting a second life right

now. Yeah, LPs set tapes. Really? Some bands are still are going, you know, the people want to hear

of the old cassette tapes thing. So releasing new music on cassette tapes. Exactly. So yeah,

I love these things coming back. Runs candy. Oh my god. I used to love them because you felt like

you had so many. Yes. Yes. Yeah. But they're still around. They are, but they're not in the same

container. Like they don't have the little they were like baseball car size boxes. And with the

little slider on the top. Oh, that's right. So then you could dump them out and you could close them.

Yeah. Is it nerds or runs? They got a new one out that it's like a ball and they're like

covered in it. I think it's nerds. Nerds were the little tiny bits. Runs were the different

fruits. Oh, there you go. Yeah. So they were like they had the little banana and you had the

little orange and a little strawberry. That's runs. Nerds are the really small ones. Oh, okay. I'm

messing. You were thinking of nerds. I was thinking of nerds. I like the runs. The orange was good.

There was a couple of the banana. I can get a hold back. That's why I got you a whole package of

bananas. Yeah. That's a run bananas. Yes. They were going with an hour. That was my year.

That was my last favorite. At least to pick at them. Was the bananas. Really? No, I like the

other one. That's why they lasted so long. I think I was going to eat any of them. Keep a

more for me. Diet Coke. Diet Coke. What? What? That's everywhere. Still around. Yeah. But it

wasn't novelty then. It was you were at that point. And these are things that like first came

around in anything. Yeah. Yeah. Everything. Still around. Rollerblade in in line skates. Oh, really?

They were that old because that was around the time when roller skates were like really big. I mean

they were doing movies like Xanadu. I still have my roller blades that I got when I was a young

teen. I'd say and we lived out in the country. So it's not like I could really rollerblade because

we had a gravel driveway. Right. Exactly. So I could only rollerblade on the road. Which, you know,

it's not as fun. No. Well, it's also not very safe. Dangerous. Yeah. I didn't have a helmet.

Yep. Syabeta bread or say chabata. Chabata bread. Chabata. Chabata bread. Yes. Okay. So that was

which was first baked in 1982. Really? Really? So a little bit earlier. That's recent. Yeah.

That's really interesting. That doesn't. Yeah. I thought it was older than that.

It's I imagine. I got to think the bread. It's the making of the bread itself is older than that.

Maybe it just became a more common thing. Or it was called that. Or they brand it. Or something.

But in all trying to have always like we do, we try to find some lightness in the seriousness

and everything. But in all seriousness, the humidity can be very dangerous, especially for older folks.

We know we have a higher age population in this area, especially in our listenership.

Please be careful. Be smart out there and look out for each other. Yes. Stay hydrated.

And don't let water hang around because we're having more of a problem with mosquitoes because

of this longer increased temperature and widespread mosquito-borne illnesses. Right. And if you need

if you need anything, I've just recently read an article about a mosquito death bucket that you

can create. It's actually pretty simple. But it's a great way to kill mosquitoes around your

heart. Yeah. I think it's just like what dish soap and... Yeah, it's something like that. You have

to create basically create a breeding ground for the women, for the female mosquitoes.

Yep. Lower them in. They lay their eggs and then they eggs die in the in the chemical compound.

And so like you said, it's something simple. It tells whole stuff you have. What was that name?

The mosquito death bucket. That's what they call it. I'm going to call claiming that new band name.

That's a great band name. And I would see that band. I would definitely see that band.

That and moss farm. Yeah, it's another good one. That's another good one.

Well, you know what, I had a moss farm on my roof. And now it's going to be gone because you know,

my roof's getting redone today. Yeah, right. Should you grass and have some goats come up there

eat the grass off your roof? Here we go. Thank you, Wisconsin Rapids. We'll be back with more

coming up. We are moss farm. Sounds good. I like it. Yeah, it sounds good.

Welcome back everyone. Morning show at WFHR.

We hope you're having a good one out there. Thanks so much for joining us over here.

Melissa set in James hanging out with you. Take it into the top of the hour. We'll kick off the

10 o'clock with some entertainment news. I'm going to get into a couple of other fun stories

while we're at it as well. Talk about some local things we're doing. We'll be out and about in

the public in the next couple of days. They're letting us out. The ass, yes. They sounds like a

threat. They have let the animals out of the zoo and we're going to have some fun with that.

And of course, we're going to talk about our open house. All of those things coming up.

We're about 20% of the way through 2025 already. And if you're planning a vacation this year,

it is time to get on, get it in the books, get it going. A new report used internet search data

to find each state's dream travel destination. It's kind of a fun way to look at this. We talked

about this kind of topic quite a bit and everything. And it's not the number one spot, but the one

that each state is searching more intensely than other states. Got you. And here's what they came

up with. Hot spots. A bunch of us just want to be warmer, which is hilarious considering

last article we did. Incredible temperatures in LA. Maybe in January.

10 states picked Florida cities. Four more picked Hawaii. Three want to hit up Vegas.

And two want to enjoy SoCal as Southern California. And five are fine with Arizona, either Phoenix

or Tucson. Very different climates between those two. Very different. Yeah, no kidding.

I spent a lot of time in California and anybody in California will tell you there is a gigantic

difference between California and Arizona heat. I've never been Arizona, but that's all they tell me

is that there's a big difference between dry heat. Well intense. You know, I don't know why,

but recently I've been looking at some things in New Mexico. And you know what? Another I'm saying

this out loud. I bet it's just so I can say I went to Albuquerque. That's what this is. Man,

I thought I just genuinely just like, oh, I just kind of interested in New Mexico all this

son. This is kind of cool. I'm looking at playing, you know, play all places I could visit and

stuff. No, I just want to be able to say I went to Albuquerque. It's just so I could say Albuquerque.

That's I would just I would just recommend renting a car to drive through New Mexico instead of

driving your own because you think our roads are bad. Their roads are terrible. Yeah,

yeah, that would agree. But hey, the other thing New Mexico, second oldest city in the United

States, Santa Fe. So I mean, there's always that. I would not check out. Yeah, actually,

not she said that. Yeah, coincidentally, people in Arizona want the cooler temps of Seattle.

Surprise. So they're looking at Seattle as do people in Alabama who are searching vacations in

Denver. Oh, they have in the mountains. Yeah. And Floridians and Georgians are looking to flip

the script here a little bit and go to New York. And since the pandemic, there has been a gigantic

influx of New Yorkers moving to Florida. There's a huge thing of it. I only know this because I got

friends in Florida that have been just complained about it left in. Oh, I'm sure they have you've

heard nothing but complaints. Here's the funny part. Okay, because I've had a lot of friends in my

life, including one of my best friends that are either from Florida, New Orleans, New York,

these particular areas, each one of them complained so much about the driving and the traffic and

how bad the New York drivers are and how bad the Florida drivers are. Good luck with each other.

Good luck, especially the way the the infrastructure is in Florida. Yeah, it's insane. Yep.

If I ever, I would love to travel to Florida. My little brother who goes there all the time

has told me many, many times, Jimmy, you just want to go to Key West. You just fly over

Floor up over the crest. Just go right to Key West. It's not, I don't say anything against the

Florida and over the people there. It's just the roads and how I, you know, he doesn't want to be

driving the traffic. Especially around Orlando area. It's really bad. Well, and driving down

there from here, a friend of mine, and I did this like not too long after high school. So we were

letting like early 20s probably and just driving down to Florida, the route that we took, it was

interesting. I don't know, but, but man, we were, we were in some remote places. I've been,

I've been that down that way like South Carolina, which is generally the same thing. There's two main

routes to go that I, we cannot take a main route. You do? Some of those roads are really twisty

turny windy. Some, did you go through the mountains? Oh, I don't, maybe. Okay. It's been a long time.

They have a little more twisty turny through the mountains. Yeah. If you go like the Southway

through Alabama and Mississippi. Some take the road less traveled. There is one other domestic

travel dream. The people in Wyoming are apparently searching a trip in a Minot, North Dakota.

Minot. Minot. Minot. Minot. I mean, it's slightly more populated than Wyoming.

Yeah. Yeah. But they can go down, there's some, you know, there's some interesting cities in

North Dakota. You know, I mean, Fargo is a good one. It's the biggest city of the, in the state.

And you could go to like Bismarck, you know, that's the capital or, you know, maybe in the

western part, Williston or something like that. Minot, that's like right on the border of Canada.

I guess they're really looking for cool weather. But they live in Wyoming. It's not like it's

super hot there. It doesn't. It's kind of dependent on where you are. What are you doing, Wyoming?

I like, what is up with that? I like the idea that it's just one guy in Wyoming.

Yeah, it's searched for it. It is threw off the whole thing. No, they don't have a very big

population there. No, they don't. So as for international trips, South Dakota is looking at Japan.

Wow. California and Hawaii as in, as is California and Hawaii. So they're all three of them

are looking at Japan. Well, those make more sense Hawaii and California, South Dakota.

Hmm. Interesting. Thailand is the destination for Oregon and Nebraska. And people in Oklahoma are

looking for, uh, Dubai. Oh, yeah. Wow. And there are some typical Caribbean style destinations with

a series of states zeroing in on Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Cancun, Costa Rica,

Panama and Puerto Rico. Two states, Virginia and Maryland are really looking at El Salvador.

And one Massachusetts is eyeing Europe. Greece specifically. Oh, see, now that would be

interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Greece is seeing all the. I love to go to pretty much all of those places.

Yeah. That'd be interesting. There's always good stuff to check out from you. Canada didn't

necessarily get any love, but Mexico did. People in Illinois want to go to Mexico City along with Texas.

So Texas and Illinois, both looking at Mexico City. Okay. Uh, let's look at a map showing each

state's, uh, dream destination, of course, to see where, uh, Wisconsin. Fort Myers. Fort Myers

is where. Fort Myers, Florida. Yeah. That's where, uh, most Wisconsinites are looking at. And that,

that doesn't, that's not that barfetched to me. There's a pipeline in Florida and Florida and

Wisconsin. Well, they tried. Interesting choice. They tried, but, uh, yeah, that, uh,

of yellow airlines, um, yeah, deal fell through with, uh, central Wisconsin airport. But,

if it's not a destination, is it, is it as simple as opposite weather? Hey, it's cold here. I

want to go warm. It's warm here. I want to go cold. It could be. Yeah. And maybe they're, I mean,

this is not necessarily people planning. They're just searching, you know, so if they're just like

looking up what's the weather like in, um, so and so, right? Yeah. I like, uh, when I love, I,

I'm, I'm literally, I have it in my DNA. I have gypsy in my DNA. I love traveling,

I love popping around and everything. But what I, I love just as much is talking about travel

with people. Mm-hmm. And I feel like you find so much that you don't know about somebody

about them with it. Um, I, I mean, relatives, friends that you've had for many years,

bring up travel sometime and just ask about, you know, hey, dream destinations or anything.

I almost guarantee you, you'll be blown away by some of the answers you get. So it's just not

something we talk about a lot. We think about it a lot. We don't share it all the time. We may

share our top destination or something like that. But, um, I, I don't think that a lot of people

would know certain things about it. And even the three of us about each other, uh, when it comes

to that, I, I know that for me, one of the things that I've enjoyed when I talked to like, uh,

talking to my dad, like, my dad's never seen the ocean. So I knew that about him from a young age.

So I bring up California some right away. He goes to food. I'm like, oh, I forget. My dad loves

food. Of course, of course he would think about that. So he's starting to talk about the food and

all this. And I'm like, yeah, then, and you know, there's this, this, and this. Look at, yeah.

But I could check out real tacos. I can, you know, he's getting all into that and everything.

I mean, what makes people want to travel is interesting. Well, food has not to be one of the big

ones, especially regional differences, you know, like specialties, stuff like that. Oh, for me,

it's huge. I love going somewhere and trying, you know, what they're famous for or even finding

things you didn't even know. It's like, well, we have this thing that's called, you know, X.

And it's, you know, something only in this area that, you know, kind of things. Wow, okay, cool.

I want to try that. It's a regional specialty. Like in India, they have so many different regions

that have the food is like, if you have curry in one part and you have curry in another, they're,

they're wildly different. It's like barbecue sauce. Yeah, yeah, the United States, right? Yeah.

Oh, but that's, that's one of the main reasons I would want to travel to pretty much any,

like Asian destination because I can probably eat most of the food. They're not, they don't put

as much dairy and tomatoes. That's, that's very true. In Asian cuisine, they just, that's not

as common as it is. So never go to Italy. So I'm saying, it's all dairy and to me. I know,

what I really want to. Oh, it's so beautiful. I'll just have buttered pasta. It's fine. I can do

butter. Yeah. I will, I will, my feet will step foot in Italy one day. I don't know.

Justice feet. Yep. Yep. It's in as well. It's, I've got to, I've got to do it. I, I think about

this with New Orleans a lot. New Orleans is probably my number one destination as far as places I

haven't been that I would like to go. But it's funny. I felt that way since I was a little kid,

one of my best friends growing up was from Citadel from right around New Orleans, right outside of it

and everything. So I've just heard all these romantic stories about it all my life and everything.

But recently, like in the last year, doing a little homework, I was reading something and it

led me down to Portland and another place that I've always kind of played. Yeah. Yeah. I've always

kind of been interested in buying one to see and everything. And it actually got me looking at

their food. And I never really thought much about that, but the seafood and some of the stuff

that they have over there, they got me really wanting to go ahead. For me, that's always a selling

point, especially seafood. Oh, yeah. Because being in a landlock area, like, you know, the, I mean,

I don't want to get up a great lakes, but it's not the same thing. Right. Going to coastal cities and

having their kind of whatever seafood they have. Oh, man, that's one of my favorite things. I love seafood.

The probably the draw for me in the States is the East Coast. Because I really, I've only been to,

I think, was Virginia, West Virginia when I was young. I've been there so often. See, I'm

the opposite. But I wasn't even on the ocean at that time. I want to go, I want to go west more

because I've been to the East, a ton. See, we're just opposites. That's why Seth. We finally figured

it out. We figured it out. Three years. You want to go east? I don't want to go west. Yeah, there

you go. We figured it out. Oh my gosh. There's a song. It's a great song. I will find it. Oh,

it's a, it's a Christian song too. Oh, hilarious. Yeah. Out of my wheelhouse. Yeah. No, I'll come

up with an adventure. Bryce, there is no Easter West. That's him, but we would love to know where

you want to go. Where would you be? Where would your searcher engine be leading you? Where would

you like to go? We would love to hear that from you. And of course, we'd love to hear from you

about your birthdays and anniversaries or anything else. You got to share with us everybody.

Feel free to call in anytime or join us through the civic media. You can always text us if you'd

like. We'd love to do that. Love to talk with you. Yeah. When we come back, we're going to be talking

about a lot of different things. Got some great entertainment news for you. We're going to dive into

Hallmark movies. We're talking George Clooney and Adam Sandler, Robert Plant, and a great

story that Melissa sent over about Ellen Tuddick when I get to all that coming up on the morning show.
