Good morning, Wisconsin.
Good morning, world.
It's a new day.
Thanks for kicking it off with us at 97-5 FM WFHR.
Your host, James behind the mic, joined by Melissa.
Good morning.
And the best listeners and radio.
Thanks for being here, everybody.
We're going to have some fun this hour.
Find some entertainment news in a moment here.
We're going to talk about some of the events we're going to be at coming up.
We'll get into all of that.
And a little bit later, the most ridiculous things fans have left behind at festivals.
I will see if we have time for bears, bears and more bears.
Bears are acting up and we get to keep an eye on it.
All of that coming up, we'll see.
And we, of course, are going to touch on some local events in our area.
Our schedule coming up all that and then some.
But we kick off with entertainment news and a story.
And I'd like to do a little bit more of this where we can, Melissa,
where there are crossovers between our sunrise show and 1055
and our morning show here at 97-5.
I like being able to do this.
And I wanted to talk with the set about this this morning
and I wanted to get your take on this one as well.
One of the bigger names in music right now is Ella Langley.
She has a wonderful voice, a very unique one.
I think that her voice sounds like it needs a hug.
But because she's just got a very, you know, kind of sad
is kind of singing voice and stuff.
I feel like she'd recreate with blues music.
I'd love to hear her doing like a blues classic song or something like that.
I like her work.
I think of very highly of her.
And so as the rest of the country music world, she's blowing up.
She's been a big name for over a couple of years now.
I would say at least two years.
She's been on this run.
Well, she hit a wall.
Ella Langley is hitting the pause button on her touring schedule
to focus on her health.
She just told fans yesterday that weeks of fighting illness
and feeling, quote, more rundown than ever,
pushed her to postpone the rest of her August shows,
with big names as well.
Some of the bigger names in country music.
She's touring right now with Morgan Wall and Riley Green.
And here's what she had to say, quote,
I've made the hard decision to take a couple of weeks
to rest and focus on my health.
Mind, body, and heart.
I want to be fully present for all the moments ahead.
And I know I can't do that without first taking care of myself.
So far, the shows that have been canceled are in Cleveland,
Bonner, Montana, Idaho Falls, Napa, Idaho,
and the Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado.
New dates haven't been announced,
but she did end her post saying,
I'll be back in the road in September.
Ready to give you my all.
Wishing her well and hope that this works for her
and it's enough time off,
because it's not even that big of a time off she's taking.
She's missing some big dates,
but it's not she's not taking a gigantic,
she's going to be back in a year kind of thing
or something like we've heard from some artist in the past.
I will say right away, a credit to her.
Yeah.
I am somebody that since I was seven years old,
has been fighting to try to get that big break
and to get to that level.
And I can't imagine,
it's hard for me to imagine to be able to put pause on that.
Once you've made it.
To me, you think Samuel Jackson works a lot?
Watch what happens when I get my break.
Watch how much I work.
I will put that man to shame.
I can't imagine doing this,
but I'm also insane.
I know that about myself.
This young lady understands the place she's in.
She respects the position she's in
that she has gotten to this place.
And I'm sure that she's very aware
that behind her are a thousand Ella Langley's.
Are a thousand people waiting to take her spot?
And with all that said,
she still is taking this moment.
She is still taking the time and putting the time and effort
into her body and her mental health
to do the right thing.
She's looking at the big picture.
Not being on the road the next couple of weeks.
She wants to be on the road and being able to get on the road
for the next couple of years.
Right.
And recognizing that she's not able to perform
at the standard that she is capable of.
It's really important to recognize those moments
because you're not able to do what you know you're capable of
if you're exhausted mentally, physically,
and it's something that Americans need to get better about.
That's a strong point.
I didn't think about that part.
I'm not being able to give the performance you want to give
that you think the audience deserves.
That's good.
That's true too.
And I mentioned her career in how long she's been doing this
or how long she's been in the public eye at least.
I'm sorry, at this level.
She's been this kind of famous.
It's only been a couple of years.
So she has never toured this much,
never worked her voice this much.
She's doing anywhere they can fit her.
She's going there and she's doing it.
She's promoting her work, promoting all that.
I imagine that's putting a lot more strain on her
than she has ever experienced in her young life.
That's noteworthy.
I mentioned this with Seth.
We see this in sports all the time.
The college athlete that's used to playing 12-game football games
or 13 football games going to an 18-game schedule.
Baseball, basketball, all of these sports.
They don't play anywhere near the amount of games
they do in college compared to the pro game.
So it makes sense that every single athlete hits a wall.
They're not used to playing this much.
They're not used to doing that well.
No, they actually have to do college schoolwork.
In our generation, I think did a good job
about talking about mental health.
But we wouldn't do these things.
We would talk a good game about,
hey, it's important to take time off.
You can't take it with you.
On your deathbed, you're not going to be talking about that
over time you missed.
But we don't do enough of it.
This generation, L-langly's generation,
that younger generation seems to really have a better handle on this.
Okay, you know what?
I hit a wall.
I gotta take time off.
Because they're watching the previous generation
work themselves to death
or, you know, mentally insane
because they can't do it all
and they can't keep it up for the number of years
that they've been trying to, so.
You're welcome to that.
You're welcome, younger generation.
We took the hit for it.
No, no, it didn't.
It's not the older brother.
You know, like the oldest kid in the family.
You're coming full back, full circle.
I wish you're well with this.
I don't know that I don't think
this is going to hurt her career or anything like that.
I think what would hurt her careers
is she didn't do this.
I think so too.
Wishing her well on that.
We go from one strong female voice to another.
Beyoncé has done the country thing.
So will her next album be rock and roll?
Interesting thought.
Yeah.
Beyoncé is starring in a new ad campaign for Levi's
based on the Cowby Carter song Levi Jeans.
The clip starts with her on a horse
and ends with her taking off on a motorcycle.
And her fans think that means something because, of course.
For shadowing.
Now, maybe it does.
Maybe there is a little more to this than I'm giving a credit
or anything like that.
But this is a Levi's ad.
Like if it was just an ad she did for her album
or something like that, I might give a little bit to it.
This is, I wear Levi's.
That's like the jeans I wear.
I'm not saying anything against Levi's already think.
But I don't look at Jean commercials as being that deep.
I don't know that they're looking to help her build on her career.
I don't think that's necessary.
I always find it funny when you see artists like this
doing these things because I wouldn't think that Beyoncé
would be advertising anything.
I don't know that she needs the money.
Easy money.
Yeah, I guess.
So one of the fans tweeted, the visual storytelling is real.
It's being made clear that she's moving.
We're on the road to rock and roll because of the motorcycle.
I guess.
Whatever does come.
In act three of the trilogy of this,
act one was her Renaissance album,
which focused on dance and house music.
In act two was the country album.
And so the next one would be,
I don't think it would be shocking to see her evolve
and to go to a different genre or try something different.
But you know, that's just an artist.
That's just what musicians do.
The Beatles did this.
I mean, you know.
I think her next album is going to be Lullaby's.
I like the idea of going a complete,
yeah, going that route, going the kid route.
Completely opposite to her.
She just, she's going to make it tough on the,
what was the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the wiggles
or whatever.
Like she's going to, she's moving in on that territory.
She's moving in on that territory.
She's going to take that over.
Whatever she does, it's going to be successful.
Oh, no doubt.
I, I, I would bet on her.
That's for sure.
Let's see here.
And did want to mention this one too,
because I thought this was an interesting story,
and it kind of keeps us in Texas.
P.W. Herman's famous bike from the movie P.W.
is Big Adventure.
The bike is going to, it's on its way to the Alamo in Texas.
For real this time.
Yeah, for real.
The original red bike from P.W. is Big Adventure
was acquired by the Alamo in celebration
of the movie's 40th anniversary.
So like any, you know,
a tourist location,
they're always looking for different ways
to bring people in and everything.
And it's hard for me to imagine the Alamo
needing this of all places,
but the Alamo is no different than anything else.
They've got to look at new ways to bring in tourists
and some of that.
So they, they sought this out.
They actually sought this out
and everything and bought it themselves.
It'll be permanently displayed
in the Future Visitor Center and Museum,
which opens in the fall of 2027.
But for fans who don't want to wait that long,
there will be a limited time showing
of the Rollston Family Collection Center,
which is also in San Antonio later this year.
Hmm.
They're also going to be hosting a free movie screening,
but the details on that one haven't come out yet.
But that's going to be,
that'll be fun for people too.
Yeah.
The official Alamo Instagram account said,
quote,
until then, don't worry,
the bike will be stored for safekeeping,
maybe in the basement,
which of course is the famous nod
to the movie.
There is little to no reason for them to do this necessarily.
I know what I said about advertising and all that,
but the Alamo is not out of ideas.
They're, you know, as far as marketing and everything.
This is a real fun nod to another audience.
You know, if you're,
the hardcore person that's going to check out the Alamo,
they're going to check it out no matter what.
But getting, getting that fringe person,
that person that's on the fence or something,
maybe they're not as die hard about that history,
but they love history,
or maybe they're a movie lover,
or something like that,
and bringing people in.
It's just a key, we Herman fan.
Yeah, yeah.
It's smart marketing.
Like, it's very intelligent marketing,
and I like to note that when we see it,
there's way too much low-hanging fruit
and sales and marketing.
I like seeing this kind of stuff
where they're trying something.
You're getting inventive, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
That's fun.
That's a fun idea.
That is one of those places when I was in Texas,
I didn't want to check that out.
I didn't want to go to the Alamo.
We didn't, but I really wanted to.
Instead, I got to go through Nolan Ryan's hometown,
which kind of...
You, that's also important.
He was my favorite pitcher.
So, yeah, it did beat something.
It was a complete baseball nerd about it.
Yes, I did.
I actually, I forgot about this.
Tony, she was driving,
and I actually told her,
could you go slower?
Could you?
We were just driving through the town.
It just drove a little slower.
One other thing that we wanted to talk about here,
at note, was we are going to be out and about
at a couple of different events coming up.
And we've got some really fun, exciting things
that we are going to be a part of.
And we're really humbled by these,
love being a part of these.
I want to send a shout out to our sales
and our marketing team,
getting us out there,
doing a lot of these things,
pushing the envelope,
doing different stuff,
like our team does around here.
We appreciate that.
Huge shout out to Pam for keeping us on track.
That too.
Yes.
100%.
We appreciate to Pam.
Can't do any of this without you.
So I want to do these chronologically, Melissa,
because this Thursday coming up,
this Thursday, we will be at lunch by the river.
You?
1130 to 1,
we will not be in a van down by the river,
but we are at lunch by the river.
Dang it.
We didn't get the van, Jay.
We were one day.
One day, we'll get a van down there.
We'll be able to say that we are at a van down by the river.
But we are excited about this one.
We only got a couple left of one of our signature events
here in the summer is lunch by the river,
over at beautiful Vetchum's Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids.
Me and us there,
and some of our favorite food trucks will be down there.
Great entertainment.
They're going to have some wonderful entertainment down there
for you as well.
Be sure to check that out.
And we will be there.
We're looking forward to this.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
We're going to be down there having some fun.
We are going to be doing a broadcast from there.
I believe Seth will be calling in.
So we're looking forward to that.
And yeah, just celebrating our community.
Having some fun.
It's going to be a blast.
I know last year we had a lot of fun with this one too.
And I think it didn't rain as hard on this last year,
but the previous year, we got rained out.
Yeah.
Yeah, we did.
Yeah.
So let's hope that doesn't happen this year.
We will meet you at lunch by the river.
Manic on Tuesday.
That's it.
I couldn't think of it.
Manic on Tuesday is going to be the entertainment.
They're really good.
They're a fun band.
That's going to be a blast.
Be sure to meet us there this Thursday,
1131 at Beautiful Invention in Somoriel Park.
Mm-hmm.
Then this Saturday, we are going to be at the Southville County YMCA's
Bridge to Bridge, 5K Race and 1K Fun Run Walk.
Woo-hoo.
Meet us over at Winterfield where all this kicks off.
The race starts at 830.
Awards will be handed out at 930.
You can sign up and register at SWCYMCA.org,
SWCYMCA.org.
This is for all ages and all racing types.
You want to go there and just kind of walk, you know,
pop around, say hi to people and everything.
That's fine.
You want to be like our friend, JRC,
and have a timer and take this seriously and do it
says training for other marathons or anything.
More power to you.
Absolutely.
Come one, come all.
We'll be down there broadcasting live and direct.
I get to be let out of the studio.
Yeah.
There's only so many hours that I can go out of the studio.
It's just safer for the public that way.
It's said no.
I'm excited.
No, it's just that you don't have the time.
Yeah.
I'm excited to be doing this.
I love being a part of this one.
It's such a fun event.
Sign up early to get one of those cool shirts.
They got a Carolina blue that they're doing this year.
I got to get one of those, man.
I got to get one of them.
That's fine.
It's going to be a fun event.
And all of that said,
the meaning behind it is the funnest part.
Because the funds raised for this help the Y do so much of the programming
that they do in this community with our youth.
And especially their membership for all program.
And that is a program there.
You might be out there and thinking,
well, I can't afford the Y.
Well, the Y says that you can.
And our community says that you can.
You reach out to the Y.
You let them know,
hey, this is what I make.
This is what I can work with.
And they work with you and make up the difference thanks to their membership for all program.
That they have a nice fun for because of programs events like this.
Yeah.
That Y is one of the most cool, beautiful things we got in this community.
I want every single member of this community that wants to go there to be able to.
You're able to, thanks to events like this.
Meet us at the bridge to bridge.
5K race and 1K fund run.
Walk held by yourself through County YMCA.
We'll be over at Witterfield to kick this off.
We'll be broadcasting live and direct from there.
Be sure to join us.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
And of course, Melissa, next Wednesday, August 20th, it's our parking lot party.
It's the party.
Party of the year.
We're having our open house.
We did this last year and you guys won and more so we're bringing it to you.
This is a way for us also to celebrate WFHR's birthday anniversary in August.
We have a lot of fun with that one and we're very fortunate to be able to celebrate 85 years in this wonderful area.
I thought it was November.
It's November.
Did I say August?
You did say August.
I'm sorry.
Celebrate our anniversary in November in August.
Yes, yes.
That's what we're doing.
That's what we're doing.
That's what we're doing.
Oh no, it's going to be a lot of fun.
We've got El Salvador.
It's booked as our first food truck and then I believe we have rodeo grill for the second half.
But sweet treats is going to be there the whole time so we got your ice cream needs covered.
That's awesome.
We're very, and that's going to be, you know, possibly a palate cleanser when you try one of my desserts.
That's part of the purpose of the food trucks to give people a counter to what I might make.
But we will be having some fun with that.
We're going to have a dessert contest.
Yeah, staff members have volunteered to cook up some kind of dessert.
And this is all because we're going to be putting together a cookbook.
We want to share your recipes.
So make sure you're bringing those into the station, emailing us.
I know Beth has worked on a form.
We're going to get an online submission form.
I'm hoping we can get some links on our pages to make it easy for people to find.
But get us your recipes.
We can't wait to share them with the whole community.
Yeah, we want you to be a part of this book.
And how cool would it be years, decades from now you're looking back at that book.
And you see your recipe or a family recipe.
And it's kept in time.
I also want to make a, I would like to find a way to do this.
And I'm a digital copy online of the recipe of the book.
Eventually, you know, to get to that point where we can put it online for people
that may not be able to afford the book.
Or, you know, if we only have so many copies of the book or something like that.
But we'll get to that point right now.
We will also be having a live remote that day.
We'll be from noon to two.
We'll be broadcasting live direct.
Yeah, we'll be broadcasting live and direct from noon to two right here at WFHR.
And then five to six.
I want to five five WIRI.
It's going to be a blast.
We're so excited about all this.
All that.
And we're going to have kids stuff going on as well.
Melissa.
Yeah, we're going to have games for kids.
We're hoping to have a couple of our local entertainment realm.
Businesses come in and have some things.
But the big thing I'm working on is kids on the radio.
Yeah.
So if you've ever wanted to be a morning show host or a sports broadcast or a news reporter
or a music DJ, come on in and give it a try.
I've got scripts.
All you got to do is fill in some blanks with what you like.
And then we record it.
I'll help you add.
Well, I'll do the editing you can watch.
And then we'll put it on a USB drive that also doubles as a wristband that you get to
take home with you.
And we're going to even try to play some of these during the live remote at the end of the end of our party.
It's going to be a blast.
We're looking forward to meet you here next Wednesday, August 20th for our parking lot party,
our open house here at WFHR and WIRI.
We'll take a quick time out.
We'll be back with more show coming up morning show at WFHR.
Welcome back everyone.
Morning show here at WFHR.
Locally grown radio.
Melissa and James hanging out with you.
Thanks for hanging out with us.
Got some good stuff coming up for you.
And we'll be getting into our schedule and good stories of the day a little bit later.
But right now we're talking bears.
Bears are everywhere.
I would like to take this moment to if bears are deciding to just like not invade,
but just kind of like slowly incorporate themselves into our society.
I just would like to welcome them and let them know I am a friend.
And I have no I got no qualms for bears.
All right.
Bears are cool.
Bears are cool because bears are not being they don't need to be invited.
They're just coming.
Bears take there.
So I have three different articles here from UPI dot com.
You can go to UPI dot com to check out these if you would like a shout out to Ben Hooper.
The headlines are part I'm going to read the headlines to you.
And I'm going to give you a little bit of the story.
But you go ahead and do your digging if you want because they're all kind of connected.
There's bear takes a dip in a Connecticut residence pool.
A Connecticut woman shared video of a bear that wandered into her property
and ended up beating the heat by just taking a dip in her pool.
Nice.
And it is it is everything.
It's a really nice pool by the way.
And the whole video.
I don't know.
It's like a crane shot.
You just see the bear doing laps.
Like like it.
It's Katie LaDeckey out there.
It's just it's just taking it.
It's just doing laps of everything.
Just enjoying itself.
Yeah.
That Teresa Sanders shared the video swimming.
The bear swimming laps in the pool behind her home.
So there is that one where the bear that is intrusive.
It just introduced like you know you get a trampoline or a swimming pool and kids sneak back there
and want to use it.
Like that's what the bear was doing.
It was just sneaking it.
Didn't didn't even want to be bothered by anybody.
Wouldn't it minding not even knowing the bear was there if not for the camera?
Mm-hmm.
Then there's.
And the fur left behind.
I can't imagine what that's like leading up.
And then there is this one where a bear was caught on camera opening a door and walking into a house.
Wait what?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wildlife officials in Colorado shared video of a bear effortlessly opening the door on an area home and barging into the house.
Colorado parks and wildlife Southwest region posted security camera footage to social media showing the bear getting up on its hind legs,
pushing the handle with its paw and just waltzing right through the front door.
Did not-
No I'm home.
Did not even wipe its feet.
Did not even think about it.
How rude.
All right now for this is like I've gotten made fun of a lot in my life because I have a habit of locking doors.
Mm-hmm.
I can't help myself.
Even when I'm just walking in and I'm walking in and out, I have to catch myself from not doing it.
It's just literal habit that I do.
This is one of those times nobody been making fun of me because the only reason this happened is because somebody didn't lock the front door.
Yeah right.
It's not as if the bear was like you know it's some like master thief and had a little lock and pick key or something.
It was sitting down there and trying to break in.
Right or like the picture guy.
Coolates here.
Yeah.
It's bust and thrower anything.
This door, the video of this, it's almost as if the bear knew the door because it just walks right up.
No hesitation.
Walks up and just effort that gets up on the legs and whoosh just walks right in.
Not B&E.
It's just E.
Or is it B&E with a bear?
Bear and enter.
Bear and enter.
Bear and enter.
The police officers like yeah we got to come up with a new code for this one guys.
I don't know.
Yeah.
And then finally a burglar bear broke in and foiled by a fearless six pound pomeranian.
So I want everybody to picture whatever you you know in your head with the last time or whatever your images of a pomeranian doll.
That cute little long hair pointy ears.
Yeah those faces and everything.
So we got a British Columbia where a woman's home security camera recorded the moment a bear that broke into her house and was chased back by her six pound pomeranian.
Just working like mad I bet.
Kayla Klein shared the security camera footage from her West Vancouver home showing the moment this bear wanders into the home on her Monday.
And she had the door propped open for circulation because of the high heat.
And the bear saw this it was like hey it looks cool in there.
I want to check this out.
This is a new cave maybe I'll take this over.
But the bear I got more than a bargain for when her small little dog scout the pomeranian just comes running from a side room and chases the bear while barking.
So this bear just comes strolling in and like bears obviously pretty high on the food chain if not the top of the food chain in Vancouver.
But I guarantee I shouldn't say I guarantee but I feel pretty for a real confidence saying this is this bears never seen the pomeranian dog.
And it had no idea what it was walking into.
And not for nothing that bears don't necessarily when they're on their hind legs they can't see lower that well.
So theoretically this bear all it's is hearing is sound.
It doesn't know how big the animal that's making the sound is.
So you know that said you know I'm going to I got my I got a little cool I got a little I got in the air conditioning a little bit I'm going to go ahead and head out.
Quote from Miss Klein.
He came sprinting around the corner and I just saw the bear running out from from the kitchen and he chased it out of the house.
She saw the tail end of the bear. She didn't even see the her situation happening dog was on it.
This is my house.
You talk about somebody that got some really good treats that day.
Oh yeah that dog.
And Scout is going to brag about this forever.
Anybody forget about it.
Like anytime he's at the dog park and there's these dogs talking about yeah I scared the mailman away I scared this person away.
Oh yeah hold my beer.
I got to do it.
I can't I don't have any thumbs.
I can't hold your beer.
I can't open doors like a bear.
But I can chase one out.
We will take a quick time out after we'll be back after our news sports and entertainment and partner break.
We're going to get into the most ridiculous things fans have left behind at festivals.
That is coming up along with some local events going on in our schedule all around the corner here on the morning show at WFHR.
Welcome back everyone.
Morning show at WFHR.
We hope you're having a great one out there.
Thanks so much for joining us Melissa and James here.
We got good stuff coming up.
We're going to talk about some local things going on in our area, getting to our schedule and plenty more where that came from.
Now the vibe at concerts depends on who you're seeing and certainly who you're with.
But I think it's a lot about the band itself.
Every band, every musician is going to bring different types of people to the crowd, to the audience.
And one of the things I like about going to a concert is people watching.
It's one thing to see the people that you expect to see.
But it's always the people you never expect to see at a concert that always stand out to me.
Did they get a free ticket?
How did that end up happening?
Especially with a lot of the concerts I went to in my early 20s and everything.
They were more heavy metal, hard rock, a lot of that when I would see young people let them.
And I'd be like, how?
How did you convince your parents?
Let you go to this show.
I'd love to know that you see their parents behind them.
You rock and out.
Yes, exactly.
So all kinds of different people go to concerts of course.
Well, someone on Reddit asked people who work at concert venues and festivals to name the weirdest things fans have left behind as some of the highlights of those.
And there are some interesting ones here.
And this is very similar to the story we do where people that left things in the back of taxi cabs or some of that.
Yeah, airports.
Yeah, similar to that.
And these are in no particular order.
But a prosthetic leg filled with liquor bottles.
And there was a phone number on it in case it got lost.
Oh no.
Oh my gosh.
A prosthetic leg isn't cheap.
So I mean, that's not something you want to just forget.
But how did they forget it?
How did he get out?
That's too good of a time.
You had too good of a time.
If you forgot your prosthetic leg at the concert venue, you had too good of a time.
Well, and potentially a lot of alcohol.
It was full of alcohol.
Too good of a time.
Too good.
Yeah, these were filled.
So they didn't even get to those.
Whatever was going on.
Yeah, they didn't even get to them.
They were filled in everything.
Wow.
And a glass wine bottle filled with what appeared to be like alcohol.
But it wasn't wine.
Just a convenient vessel for carrying something else.
They got old style in there.
They just wanted to look fancy.
They just wanted to look fancy.
Old style.
Got some paps in there, but they wanted to look fancy.
That's sacrilegious.
Let's see here.
An unbeaten burrito tucked in a shoe.
Somebody was saving that for a later.
A weird spot.
Dentures.
Just okay.
No.
Gonna miss those.
Not good.
Breakfast time.
Eight dollars and quarters.
All perfectly stacked.
Like just sitting there.
Just sitting like out of somewhere.
Somebody was really bored at the concert.
Yeah.
Boy, my brain can't help but try to find logic in things.
So with every one of these things we're saying,
I'm sorry for the pause, but my brain can't help itself.
I'm like, well, why would you leave this?
Why did you do that?
Trying to figure out the logic behind it.
I don't think you should try.
No.
No.
I do this way too often in life.
The answer is there is no answer.
Right.
There's just people being people.
A wooden carving of a tortoise.
Just a wooden sculpture of a tortoise.
Somebody just decided to bring to a concert.
Did they make it while they were there?
Maybe.
Or maybe they went to see trample by turtles.
Maybe they wanted to bring that.
Um, an answering machine.
What?
Who has those anymore?
I mean, obviously some people do because we still have landlines where we don't sell service.
But, um, maybe they didn't want to miss any calls.
They were that afraid.
Nobody told them that they had nowhere to plug it in or anything like that.
That's a whole other story.
Maybe there was a recording on there they wanted to share with the band members?
I don't know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's no logic.
We're trying to be logical.
Stop it.
Um, and a cat.
Someone had it on a leash and left it there.
But as a happy ending, someone else took it home and adopted it.
So it is.
Oh, it worked out.
Okay.
But who's bringing?
Pet.
Yeah.
And who's bringing a pet to a festival?
Who's bringing a pet to a concert or anything?
I mean, I can't imagine why anybody would do that.
Maybe if it was like a week long thing and you brought your pet along to take care of it.
But then you left them behind.
I don't know.
No.
Um, it's not popular to say, but not everybody should be a pet owner.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Not everybody deserves it.
Um, the, uh, the, the amount of things you can go to Buzzfeed.com.
Uh, to, to find out the, the complete list and everything.
Um, somebody said that they found a fork lift.
Like it was.
That's, that doesn't know.
No.
An entire fork lift.
I can't imagine that.
I can't, I cannot imagine how a fork lift for God's sake.
Um, that had to be part of like the set up, maybe.
Um, one of the other things that he'd like, yeah, I'm thinking just to set up for the, you know,
it wasn't anything to do with concert goers or anything.
I'm just, you know what?
I, the only, the only vehicle I have right now that's drivable is my fork lift.
I'll be there.
I'm going to set out on Tuesday to get there by Saturday, but I'll be there.
Interestingly, to maybe just to me, uh, a lot of people found books.
Like, and I, I guess I, I guess I could see that.
You're, if you're getting there early, you want to get a good seat.
You're sitting there waiting for the, the opening act or something like that.
You're, you don't like any of the bands leading up to the band.
You're really there to see.
So you bring a book.
I mean, that, that's something I would do.
Not that I didn't like the bands, but also I would just, I bring a book with me everywhere.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can see that.
I feel like, I guess the, it's not as surprising to me that, uh, or I guess the surprise, not that they brought the books,
but that they would forget them.
Most people, if you're bringing a book, that thing, you know, you're, you're hanging on to that thing.
And so you're keeping it close by.
I don't know.
I have a book in my, well, so there's levels of books.
Yeah.
I have a car book.
I have my, my bedside book.
I have, um, I think that's all I have right now.
But usually I have like two or three books that I'm reading at the same time.
My car book, I wouldn't be sad if I left that somewhere.
It's not that great.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That, that, that one's such.
But it's an emergency backup book.
And one more, uh, I gotta get in there.
A lap harp.
And, and not just a lap harp.
A handmade one with, and, and, and with carvings in it in a great condition.
Uh, quote, I left it with security.
Uh, people I know, no one claimed it.
And at the end of the season, they told me it was mine.
This is a, the person that worked at the venue.
Uh, uh, I left it until the beginning.
Uh, yeah.
So they, they found this.
And then of course had to leave it on the lost and found to see if anybody claimed it.
Nobody ever claimed it over a year.
Nobody claimed it.
How could you forget that?
That's, I, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I just don't know.
I would, that is, um, I could see, uh, you know, hey, where did we leave that harp?
No, no, I can't.
No, it's a harp.
Like, it's like, you got 18 of these things or anything.
Oh, especially when that's hand carved.
When I was a kid, we had an omniharp, which was an electric lap harp.
It didn't, it wasn't great.
I mean, it just, remembering how it sounded now is just, it's funny.
But I could see leaving that somewhere, but hand carved one.
Again, you can go to Buzzfeed.com to see this entire list.
Everybody encourage you to check it out.
It's a fun list.
And, uh, I, I can't think of anything that I've ever done like that.
I can't think of anything that I've left in a concert.
Yeah, I haven't been to too many concerts enough to forget once somewhere.
I really, and, and I, uh, I bring as little as I can with me when it comes to going to concerts and everything.
Well, yeah, because you don't want to forget stuff.
I don't want to end up on this list.
I don't know.
Um, uh, we promise that if you come to our open house, uh, next Wednesday, August 20th,
if you forget anything, we will make sure you get it back.
Yeah, because we'll tell everybody on air what you forget.
Exactly.
Yes, yes, yes.
No, I kidding.
I'm kidding.
We wouldn't necessarily do that.
That, however, does not count if they are sweets or candy or cookies or any of those kind of things.
Anything that James would want to eat.
Yeah, that's gone.
That's gone.
That's gone.
Yeah.
Uh, that or anything penguin related.
All gone.
It's gone.
You can kiss a good back.
But otherwise, you know what now spring.
Take a time out.
We'll come back wrap up the show.

going on tonight is gathered by the ban shell.
Hey.
Take the last one of the season.
It's the last one, yeah.
Yeah.
And they're going out in style for this year.
They'll be back at it next year, I'm sure.
But it's a fun event.
It's only gotten bigger and it'll probably get even bigger next year.
Takes place over at the Rome Town Center.
You can check that out.
Beautiful Nicosa from 530 to 7 tonight.
Bring your family for food, entertainment,
and family-friendly yard games.

Be sure to check that out, everybody.
Biolocal support, local support our area
and these great area events.
Also wanted to get into some good stories of the day.
We've got some good ones here, Melissa.
Lifeguards near Columbus, Ohio left their post at a public pool
to go save two people drowning in nearby stream.
Oh my.
A mom and her seven-year-old son were struggling
in 12 to 15-foot while water.
And the lifeguards heard them yelling for help,
scaled a fence, and saved both of them.
Whoa.
And I cannot express how young these lifeguards are.
Like, they're old enough obviously to be lifeguards
and everything, but they look so young.
They're just really young people jumping in there.
Yeah, I think you only have to be 16 to be a lifeguard
once you go through the training.
That's good on them.
Yeah, really, really impressive.
Three postal workers in Germany were biking
over 1,800 miles to a small town in northern France
to hand-deliver kids Christmas lists to Santa.
Oh.
Oh.
According to the AP, that's where Santa Claus villages.
It's right there in that small northern Finland,
that I say French, I'm in Finland, area.
That makes more sense.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Although a French Santa, that sounds like a good bit.
That does sound like a good bit.
It'd be fun.
You were all bad.
You were all good.
We'll have to talk to Santa.
We'll run into him just recently.
That's right, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
And have you seen the video of a groom in Alabama
doing his vows in sign language?
No.
I admit this hits my romantic heart here.
A 29-year-old, Zach Swain.
Swain, yeah.
And Haley Collick got married last month.
Her parents are deaf, so he spent months
learning American sign language
and surprised them at the ceremony.
Oh, that's beautiful.
And it looks like even the groomsmen didn't know.
It looked like everybody was surprised by this.
He didn't tell anybody because of his buddies,
the groomsmen, they're tearing up.
They're crying more than anybody.
So I don't think they knew.
It is incredibly beautiful video.
It is really, really cool.
A good on that man for doing that.
That is a cool move.
I wanted to make sure to get that one in there.
That's cool.
A reminder, again, to register for the Southwark County YMCA's
Bridge to Bridge, 5K Race and Fun Run Walk.
Yeah, it's coming up soon.
Register now so you get a shirt.
Yep, this Saturday is when it's going on.
Everybody, so get on over there, sign on up.
SWCYMCA.org.
We'll be down there broadcasting live and direct.
So come on and say hi and get ready.
Get your stretching in.
And we'll meet you there.
Strength lots of water.
Yes, stay hydrated.
Get a lot of water in your system.
Be sure to be ready for that.
And I cannot stress enough.
Again, this is an event for everybody.
You want to bring the kids on down and just stroll,
kind of take your time and everything.
We encourage you to do that.
That'll be a lot of fun as much as going there and, you know,
going all out and really, really going diving into it.
Heavy and everything.
Head first.
We encourage you to be a part of the event.
Please don't go head first.
No, don't do that.
Just feet, feet, feet.
Feet first.
Dive and feet first.
Listen to Melissa.
Listen to her.
She's the braids of the operation.
Side is.
I brought this up earlier as a tease,
but also as a shout out to our friend Heather Sayers.
And the Fornacusa group and all the great work
that they're doing over there.
It's been a lot of fun.
I encourage people to check out the rap and support
that we did with Heather and Joe yesterday.
They joined us.
A lot of minute of it this morning.
It was good.
It was really fun.
It's great to be talking with them.
And one of the things we got to do,
along with talking about this great circus coming to town,
was talking about the Fornacusa organization
and how that got started and the great work
that they're doing with that.
I want to encourage people to check that out.
And go to and check out this circus.
Because we have got a circus coming to town
and I mean a real circus.
They got a big top.
They got a show for you and everything.
It's a magical day under their big top
with the whole family fun without having to leave town.
That's awesome.
They have attended one ring circus
performing two 90-minute shows that are amazing.
And one of the cool things about this,
there's no seat that's further than 40 feet away from the ring.
So everybody's going to have a good seat.
Everybody's going to be able to check this out.
That's awesome.
You can get your tickets for this
over at a big shout out to all these businesses.
Beaver's dime store, Rome Outdoors,
the Nacusa Library, Nacusa BP, Piggly Wiggly.
You can go on over there and pick up your tickets there
for this great circus that's coming up this Saturday
over Riverside Park.
Or you could just call in right now.
I got one free pass.
I got three of them.
I'm going to give away one each day.
Oh, good.
We got one.
We're going to give away right now.
Call up and tell Melissa and I.
What is one of your favorite things about the circus?
Yes.
715-44-2600.
Just a touch or two away on the Civic Media app.
Call in and get this ticket.
It's an admission for one ticket.
I also see that there's a dollar off a pony ride here.
And a dollar off face painting and that.
It's a pretty nice package here.
Heather left us.
Oh, that's awesome.
We got three of these.
We're giving one away today.
Call up and get this package, everybody.
And be listening tomorrow for other opportunities.
Thanks a lot, Melissa.
Good show.
You too, Jay.
Have a great day, everybody.
