Mother Nature. Good morning, Brett. Good morning. How are you doing? Doing good over here.
How are you doing? Good. Are you going out of that cloud of fog finally? Yes. Yes.
It's sunny. We have to go back to the band. If Brittany is in the band and she's bringing
Mother Nature, is that a four person band? Oh, it is. Yeah. It's a four person band. Yeah.
Mother Nature is definitely a part of the band and she is doing whatever she wants. Would
ever submit she wants to play. I think she's the lead singer. Yep. Yep. Songwriter producer.
I just want a little bit. Brittany, what is it going to look like this weekend?
Yeah, man. So we invited Mother Nature right now. She's just going to control everything.
Yeah. She's pretty calm right now. The next 48 hours, I would soak it up, get outside and enjoy it.
Plenty of sunshine on tap. It's not going anywhere today or anywhere tomorrow. And we're doing warmer.
Finally, highs today. We'll reach those mid fifties and tomorrow we're going to flirt with
the mid sixties. So fantastic, gorgeous weather. But we do have a chance of rain rolling in late
tomorrow night and into our Sunday where we could hear a few claps of thunder. So I think Mother
Nature wants to play the drum. Nice, well played.
I said it's setting in on the weekend and it does continue into our Monday. A little wet
and dreary start to the week. And it's going to be windy too cooling our temperatures down to about 50.

LKF a birthday anniversary club around the corner. Looking forward to that. It's National Grill
Cheese Day. We got to talk about it. And the end of an era, a popular thing from our childhood
Terry and the bankrupting and everyone under. So we want to talk about that. Touch on that one
with everybody. But want to kick things off with United Way and talking in that way.
Information and stuff. And we got a couple of things to talk about right away if you don't mind
Terry. I want to remind everybody about my free taxes. And I'm doing that in part for myself as
well because I have not done my I am that is insane. I never I've never waited this long. I've
never done this before. I'm in my meager defense. We've had a lot going on in the family and here
at the station more than that in a moment. But I've never done that. Thankfully I do go to my free
taxes and I don't have to you know it doesn't take me that long to be honest. So I'm not I'm not
overly stressing about it. But I am a little bit because I've never waited this long to do my
taxes. Well the good news is you still like four days. So I mean if if you make it relatable,
you shop on Christmas Eve. So I mean you know in the 11th hour. So we'll just we'll just call it
good. But we do offer a service called my free taxes and this is available by visiting our website
UWswac.org. And you can click on the my free taxes banner that you know circles up on the top
of this of the screen. And by clicking on that then you are routed to a software that allows you
to file for free. And this is for all households that had income of 84,000 or less in 2024. So it's
it is a good opportunity to you know save some save some money right tax preparation can cost
hundreds of dollars. And it's an opportunity to keep that money in your budget. And you know it
is like you said very user friendly. You can do it from a desktop computer. You can do it from a
laptop, a tablet, your phone. It's just a matter of having those documents by you when you do it. So
any W2's 1099 said you might have and you just enter some information. You have a chance to verify
it saves your information. So if you have to get up and you know you get called away you have to go
do something. There's such a cool feature. Yeah so I mean there's a lot of really really great
things about it. But the best part is free. And it helps you to you know maximize your your refund.
One of the things that I've struggled with throughout my life is trying to make my father laugh.
I tend to make him laugh when I'm trying not trying to. But I was talking about this the other day
he found he just really likes the service and he's really interested and he has to do a numbers
and we're talking about it. And when I was explaining the part about how much a household income
you have to have in order to be able to do this or not. He's like well Jimmy you tell people out
of the air you don't how much you make. I'm like I'm not telling him that much it's like well dang you
know I mean he's telling me the the top of my I'm like dad I work in radio everybody knows
that I don't make that much like it's not it's not a secret or anything. But it also is part it's
not just me there's so many people out there in that room in that area. I think about this
oftentimes when we do the Alice report and we talk about how everybody is has to be so close
with their budget and be so smart with their budget. Looking for ways to save a buck or two here
or there is vital in for the American family today. These services are not taken lightly. I'm
making jokes and everything but it's very very cool where yeah I know people that are a little
spend to 300 some dollars on their taxes or what have you getting them done and it's nothing
against the pros out there. I have all the respect in the world for people to do this for a living
but if you don't for somebody like me where there is not a million different things from
you don't have a complex filing yeah my kids are all in their 20s so there's there's just
there's no real reason for me not to use it really so yeah and I think you know one thing that's
really cool when you talk about the income limit when we started offering this probably about
eight years ago and this is a you know a national partnership with United Way Worldwide but
when we started this I mean it was actually pretty low and you could literally only have like
W2's like you couldn't have any other forms but but then you know then it kind of called into
question well why you know like why can't the software has the complexity and there are certainly
some things that you cannot do if you have you know complex forms sometimes you do have to go
to a professional but but then it would you know the idea was just like well why not offer it
to to a higher household income you know what yeah yeah what's the harm in it if if someone has a
a pretty simple return I'm just you know just the basic things then then why not and so you know
I think that's really cool because it you know it just demonstrates listening and and understanding
that you know this is something that potentially could create a hardship and you know when we think
about let's think about a single parent with two kids in our community you know the Alice Threshold
for them is about 55,000 a year and this is still well over you know 30,000 over that so you know
we we just were like let's why not yeah right like like what's the harm in offering so so I just
think it's a great a great way to keep dollars in people's pockets and you know once paper forms
went away right because I think there were a fair number of people who who just had very simple
returns that were still just doing it on paper yeah and and so you know once that went away then
again why why not yeah heavy free and once you're done with those taxes and everything you're
done using my free taxes you're going to want to get rid of those documents in a safe way Terry
don't shred 2024 though no give up give up for a few years we do we do I'm next Thursday on
April 17th is our annual community shred day this is an event hosted by prevail bank here in
Wisconsin Rapids starts at 9 a.m. and goes basically until capacity is met it is promoted by the
bank as nine noon but we we just never make it till noon and I think you know that's that can
be a challenge and frustration to people who might show up at 1130 but it also is just a testament
to people really taking this seriously and saying gosh I need to get this I should get this
stuff out of my house right like it shouldn't just be sitting around but it should be shredded so
this is an opportunity to bring your sensitive documents to us next Thursday starting at 9 a.m.
we will be at prevail bank in Wisconsin Rapids the first thousand pounds shredded prevail will
donate a dollar two united way the second thousand pounds bank account will we'll donate a
dollar two united way so we will receive two thousand dollars for this event so that's really
awesome and then you can bring in two boxes or like bags you know like a grocery bag
but a paper bag you can you can have two boxes or bags full of paper to be shredded for free
and there after it is a five dollar donation but that donation again comes to united way so
you know you can feel good about that too right so if you have three boxes don't be discouraged
don't hang on to it for another year bring your three boxes and five dollars and we'll take
carry you for you know until this event rolls around again next year looking forward to that
and of course we want to remind everybody as well that we are looking for well-used books or books
for our great book giveaway and we've got other things we'll be touching by now as we wrap

on social media it's a great way to keep up to date and all the cool things they are doing

it is national grilled cheese day Terry and a new poll said that 70 percent of people say that
they prefer the toast level of their grilled cheese to be golden brown 12 percent like it well done
or even burnt oh really um maybe you're not that picky about it but kids sure are 30 percent
of parents say that they had to remake a grilled cheese for their child who wasn't happy with the
toast level I could not imagine a look on my mother's face if I said to her okay but your mother
would just make it your mother would just make it perfect in the first place exactly exactly well
I mean there is no way like if I if I was because sometimes you know you have those moments right
these little squirrel moments like I mean the kitchen you know when you're making it and if it does
get a little too done I mean I'm more inclined to just chuck it and start over I'm not putting
out their plate you know what I mean it's like I don't know that my I don't know if my kids
would complain about it but I always look at it like if it's too done for me then probably they
won't like it either you know yeah oh yeah oh yeah as for the sandwich 47 percent of quote purists
who just want bread and cheese especially Midwestern women men from the northeast are most likely
to experiment with extras like tomato fresh herbs bacon and so on American cheese is the most
popular cheese followed by cheddar mozzarella and Swiss men are more likely to spice it up with
habanero jack or pepper jack or something like that and 65% of people say that they spread a
little butter on the outside especially in the Midwest younger adults like to mayo it up with
their grilled cheese and 28% spread on the inside 14% spread it on the outside you mayo
no no no not for me I have heard of that I okay so for me a grilled cheese is literally bread
and cheese yep and I I butter both sides the bread okay so so I will I'll you know put a little
little grittling or a little you know whatever on on the side that the cheese is going to go on
flip it over put the cheese on you know then put it together as a sandwich so there's a little bit
of um goldenness on the inside too but I also I do like like if I go somewhere in order a grilled
cheese I'm more likely to you know be willing to experiment a little bit with different
cheeses and stuff but at home I always use America like the process cheese oh yeah because it
melts so nice so it's perfect for you know I like the taste of cheddar in there but it's so greasy
yeah you know like it I don't know it doesn't melt cheddar doesn't melt very well I talked about
this uh with uh Beth and the kitchens open a a while ago with with uh grilled cheese for me for
some reason I just such associated with soup I don't think I really have grilled cheese on its own
I feel like I only have it with soup yeah tomato soup for me I was wilded out by the amount of
people that agreed with that we're like oh yeah yeah save here it's definitely so we maybe it
is a Midwest thing it really I wonder if it is because I don't I don't know that uh we're alone on
that or where the we are um you know the standard on that the other thing though if I'm gonna add
any kind of like so if I'm gonna make like a hot ham and cheese that's on a bun that's not on
bread oh nice you know what I mean like like to me that's that it's it's different like I don't put
I don't know grilled cheese is just grilled cheese I have to tell you I don't buy I mean I like just
I guess how I make grilled cheese but our um good friends at culverts make fabulous grilled cheese
yeah they do yeah fabulous grilled cheese so I'll sometimes go in there and get a bet if if
they have their tomato florentine soup I always ask you know what kind of soup and I'm like okay
I'll take the grilled cheese basket but soup for the side instead of fries nice fabulous they
have a great I might not have to try that that's pretty good uh well we've been talking about
culverts a little bit later with our star of the day coming up we got the okay favorite
birthday and anniversary club on the morning show at WFHR welcome back everybody it's time

both atoni and an oscar as the emcee of cabaret um probably uh i also remembered as the uh fathering
father of jennifer greh uh from dirty dancing oh sure but joe greh uh along with cabaret has had
had a really nice career i was going uh i was going to do cabaret and i was watching a lot of the
plaques i hadn't seen it since i was young um to see my part but i i just could not stop watching
joe greh's work he was it's one of the most perfect castings in movie history as him as the emcee
now locally uh what we were going to have was joe goodness playing that role and i think the
joe would have nailed it just as well for sure and it really really good performance by mr greh though
taking a look at saturday book uh berthay's brooklyn decker is 38 super super super super super
sell straighted uh supermodel uh she uh thinks she did a little bit of movie yeah she was in
grace and frankie i believe and uh she is married to and erotic let's see uh brendan uber
ure is 38 lead singer apanic at the disco easton corburn is 43 uh country singer uh i didn't know
he was that much while he was that older um yeah i wouldn't have guessed that either actually
claire daines is 46 uh great actor uh she's dead some really nice work in her career she's and
just continuing to do good work been skill is 68 on saturday that's a big one that's a big one
um uh currently married to uh oh sorry of course been married to any grant for many many years
and one of the bigger names in all of country music history i feel like in my head he's been like
in his mid sixties for i yeah thank you for saying it because yes i mean he's been
i don't mean it a bad way but i just that's just kind of where i would just park it he's been around
since uh we're in high school right oh yeah oh yeah yeah he's been around for quite a while
and i'm with you like at least in his fifties i thought he was back then it just got an old soul
kind of to him and everything uh done not by his looks by any means i i don't know him i i wouldn't
if he walked in the room i wouldn't be able to peg him right away but i would i certainly know
okay that's mince gill but it's not like he ever looked old to me but he just always had that
kind of matured in cheat to him i just yeah i just feel like he's always looked the same too
Andy Garcia 69 on Saturday great actor wonderful actor uh david letterman is 78 one of the best
ever do it where's he yeah he's doing on his ranch in montana or whatever yeah basically he does
his own talk show now on netflix whenever he kind of goes around to it and everything it's he's
living to his best life right now and hopefully happy because david letterman as much as i enjoyed
watching him and everything um a lot of the interviews a lot of the things i've seen with him and
people talking about him it's kind of a grumpy guy you know or maybe just uh that's just the way
he comes across who knows but yeah it might just be his front you know i'll tell you this i think a
lot of people would uh going off of the characters he has played would think that edo niel is a grumpy
guy i can tell you for darn sure that is one of the kindest human beings i will ever meet in my life
i like him uh he's so great of course uh famously al bundy and married with children
i was in modern family as well um a lot of good stuff edo niel as i mentioned on the air here before
took a moment to talk to a uh an actor like me we he didn't know from anything um and i have no
career and still took time to talk to me and some other uh cast members i saw him talking to uh the
caterers um the makeup people we actually i i don't know if i've ever shared this one so we
knew ed was on set because we heard that day and we're all just little kids basically waiting for him
to show up and when he shows up i uh the reason i ended up having a moment with him is because i
went away uh i didn't want to be like everybody else was just you know all over him and everything and
i figured well i know i have a scene with him later too so i should have a moment there to you know
hey mr. niel thank you very much for everything you know that all this um but as this was all going on
and we get uh settled finally and we're gonna start filming and we're you know half an hour late
which in in you know the movie industry is millions of dollars so we're rushing and everything
to get in spot we get in spot we're ready to go all the sudden i hear a laugh that i've been hearing
since i was a kid like uh almost a floor away uh and it's edo niel and the uh makeup people he's
got the makeup lady laughing and they're making too much noise so we have to we have to reset and
redo it all over again and everything because of him i think great human being great human being
an incredible actor i don't think we'll ever get to see edo niel the thespian because what i saw
face to face as close as you and i are tear closer uh was this man in uh in one scene the director
asked him to redo it about twelve to thirteen times and every time he nailed it every time it was
exactly the same except for one little change they would ask of him he is way beyond more talented
than we've gotten to see uh you haven't even seen the the tip of this man's talent uh as far as uh
his well good he is great actor herbie handcock is eighty five great great i'm one of the one of
the uh rocket i mean they can't talk about the eighties and not talk about herbie handcock
and some people no longer with us um shan and dorety would have been 54 tomorrow uh
passed way too young of course famously Brenda on 90210 she was uncharmed as well uh was a uh
just a tough human being uh cancer survivor and real life and for most of her life until
until the end of course david kacity uh born in nineteen fifty past away in twenty seventeen
Keith partridge uh and uh let's see her tiny tim oh uh tiny tim would have been celebrating
birthday on saturday and tom clancy uh author of some of all fears hunt for red October my grandfather
would have not forgiven me if i had not mentioned tom clancy uh good uh good author too by the way
very good author taking a quick look at sunday birthdays glenn hotthorn is forty nine uh denis
and only sonny and philadelphia jack on uh ap bio lu bega is fifty so is is it not mabo number fifty
is is that it mubba number fifty is now if i'm lu bega i'm coming out with that song what's it got
loose what does it be why not but uh that's a good point it could be uh let's see max wineberg is
seventy four uh east street band member of course and former Conan O'Brien brine drummer is much time
as i spent on that show and i got to see uh Andy Richter and Conan O'Brien as human beings like
Andy Richter sitting there eating a sandwich you know uh it just it just just being a regular guy
because that's all he is um i i never ran into max wineberg he was uh he would show up he would do
his job he would be a part of bits at times could not have been more friendly with the cast and
everybody uh in fact people would show up and i heard people yell max and that kind of thing did
his job and gone in and out like just you know nothing against that just was very interesting to be how
that's a musician i think i think it was part the musician is just the way he does here's what i'm
here to do and but really talented guy and a lot of fun Ron Proman is seventy five one of my favorite
actors of all time and part because of his career started out uh as um Vincent on Beauty and the
Beast back in the day when we were kids uh in the 1990s show the 1980s show sorry 1980s show um and
behind all the makeup and everything uh i remember seeing him in interviews and people talking
about did you take a personal how did you feel about you and i just remember as a kid him saying
in an interview i think it was a good morning america is like i'm just happy to be here i
are like i'm so happy to be doing this for a living and it's the same guy now at seventy five that
is still just how thankful to have this career um to see him get the hellboy character and the
that go do as well as it did um clay on sons of anarchy so many of the other roles he's gotten
it's it's a testament to will power into staying in this game and believing in yourself and believing
in this and that you can do this but also i i will uh say a credit to uh gear d'autoro and
and some other great directors out there that didn't listen to casting directors use their own eyes
like this is a good actor that's my hellboy and and cast that guy even though he wasn't the biggest
name or anything like that now he's a lot bigger rever now green is seventy nine god what a singer
what a singer singer songwriter i should say uh and uh let's see here uh people no longer with
us uh don atoms uh would have been uh celebrate his birthday on sunday agent eighty six on get smart
in the voice of inspector gadget and tenisee tuxedo okay great career for him butch Cassidy would
have been celebrating a birthday on sunday born in 1866 passed away in 1908 and of course
Thomas Jefferson born in 1743 passed away in 1826 author of the declaration of independence
the third president of the united states not a perfect human being but none of them is
and um it we cannot tell the story of the world without Thomas Jefferson not just america you can't
tell the story of the world without Thomas Jefferson um and i think if we allow ourselves
could be one of the greatest examples in all of human history of taking somebody the good the bad
all of it and and understanding that not a single darn one of us get a change get we don't get
we don't get to judge like you can do that if you want but in that your place and for anything you
want to judge there are about probably fifteen twenty things that people are going to be able to judge
about you um i i think that he is a great example of being able to see a person for all that they
were and and take the good the bad and just uh take something from that and it yeah it it just
it is what it is you can't change it yeah and then you can't tell it and when when you're talking
about somebody this this magnitude uh there's going to be good and bad agreed everything guess what
you do a deep dive on mother Teresa you're not going to like everything you're about her
there's not a human being that's ever walked the planet that is it is perfect and that's all right
that's part of what we all have in common i think can connect all of us and hopefully makes this
not judgmental uh we're going to wrap up the birthday and anniversary club but we got a whole
another week ahead of it we want more birthdays and anniversaries everybody get them to us we

remembered that there was nothing like it but i i would go from watching like all the family and
the Jefferson's to good times and what's happening and these things and for me as a kid back then
there there was some representation there was some you know uh it's showing of not a perfect family
and all that and uh as great as so many shows were before it to help lead the way to all in the
family all in family you can make the argument may have been the biggest game changer in tv history
just with the topic matters that they would hit on the unabashed uh kind of like of archie bunker
and the the humanist everything i was just talking about in the last segment of taking a human
being for what they are not the good the bad but what they are that's archie bunker that that's
you know that that's uh Sherman helmson that's uh that's uh that's it's a whole cast really
uh meadhead and the whole gang uh and and one of the most famous iconic theme songs of all time
i'm sorry if the volume ain't that great but i had to use this one because of the old
and i from studio but i had to get that out of there it's such a great part we don't do that
anymore i don't really have theme songs anymore but we do have a star of the day i got to talk to

everybody out there on monday show molissa said that i are going to be getting into some programming
uh that's going to be some programming adapting that we're going to be doing over here at wfh r and
w i r i adapting yeah yeah uh i this audience has been through enough change up there okay
fair i get up that's the way i'm looking at it that's the way i'm talking about it and we'll
get into it more than i will i i would like to say though i don't want people going through the
weekend uh well you know um fretting or stressing uh we're we're going to be here everybody our
morning show is going to be here we're going to be here we're going to be doing local live radio
we're going to be doing high school sports um we're having some changes but nothing that i think
that uh anybody is world is going to be rocked too much um and i only say that because i know that
this audience has been through more changes than i don't know if i i have a hard time believe
there's any radio station out there that their audience has been through more than ours has
and the fact that our audience has stayed with us not only through um four different ownership
changes since i've been here uh or um at least three yeah three different format changes um that's
asking a lot for listeners to hang on especially in 2025 with radio um i don't i i'm not going to i
never lied to our audience i am always honest with you guys for 20 some years that's what i've done
and i'm going to continue to do it so i'm being honest with you guys uh i understand that
change is not easy not everybody likes change i'm looking at it as an adapting and and we are still
here we are still going to be here we're still able to do live radio we're still able to
able to break news to you when it happens here in rapids or in central Wisconsin and do the um
vital reporting that we do around here and i say vital because not many people are doing what we're
doing nobody's doing exactly what we're doing and compassing all we do like with our newsletter
which a new edition dropped yesterday encourage it go to wfhr and sign up for that um
but it's the everyday stuff for any uh playmakers that we do where we don't get calls and there's not
a whole lot happening we also have two other playmakers that week where we had on a high school coach
or we gave you local high school updates or uh local sports updates or just to add conversations
about that and that's just playmakers let alone midday magazine in the impact that show makes
or any of the other work that we're doing around here uh we ain't stopping oh we're not we're not
stopping anytime soon and as long as i'm in this chair we will talk more about it on Monday
be listening there for it um listen set then i will have some fun kick off your week and get
uh catch up on all this terry this is rough if only uh if you only open uh your front door
in hopes of the price patrol you might not mean might want to wait on that one you might not be
seeing them anytime soon publishers clearing house has filed for bankruptcy oh the company has been
around 72 years it was initially founded as an alternative to door-to-door magazine subscription
sales by offering bulk mail direct marketing but it was best known for the price sweepstakes which
became a sensation in the 70s 80s and even in the 90s it was still a big thing contrary to popular
belief publishers clearing house never worked with edmic man that was the competitor american
families publishers which was around nineteen from 1977 to 1999 i love it because i and i instantly
thought of edmic man so first thing i thought of these and and don't kid yourself out there was the
first thing you thought of two out there i we all associated with him isn't that the wildest thing
it's so weird i don't even know if i knew there was another one really yeah i don't i don't think
a lot of us did both companies did some good but we're also hit with a lot of lawsuits over
deception pro deceptive promotions and advertising they'd make it look like someone had already won a
prize or was a finalist with improved improved chances of winning something which wasn't the case
well i mean the more magazines you bought the better chance you had yeah yeah publishers
stickers on the sheet yeah uh publishers clearing house bankruptcy announcements said that they
are finalizing a shift away from its legacy business and are hoping to become a quote pure digital
advertising company and free to play entertainment online they did say that the prize patrol team
will continue to deliver awards throughout the bankruptcy process but that will require some
creative financing because their current liabilities have them under water i mean i'd probably
ask for cash and not check right on Terry you and i have never been more on the same page
you have a brief case of cash with you or just this check so this is really good i'm taking the
photos i'm doing all this i'm like where's my cash yeah where you keep the check keep the big old
check all right where's my cash or why don't you ride with me to the bank yes oh man is that
that i understand that they have you know people going over these things these press releases
at all that and everything they should have with they should have went over to another time
i don't feel like that was a good and i don't feel like it's a very good business model maybe
who's giving away money when you're bankrupt this is no scenario you do all the quote creative
financing you want which look maybe it's just my background and my my my past or whatever when
i hear finance you know financial creative financing i i think of Louis down at the docks
you can say that i can say that i'm in their defense it could be a reorganization bankruptcy that
doesn't mean that you're at zero it means you need to creatively finance but it does just sound
kind of funny like you know you're in the business of we're gonna keep giving money away i think yeah
well i um i i i i have too much of an american mind uh where i cannot look at these businesses and
feel too bad um uh for me this is business 101 this is this is america this is commerce if a
business falls i'm i'm not blaming consumers i'm blaming the business uh you didn't adapt you
weren't able to adapt to the times or your business just didn't work with the times but um that
being said uh it is it is a little jarring i think to see some of the these businesses we are
you know filing for bankruptcy like we have in the last couple of years um i still i know it
happened almost a decade ago or whatever but you know sears or or jc penny or some of these
companies that have said some of this stuff or done some of the cuts i just never saw that coming
when i was a kid and locally um i'm thankful to the businesses that are trying to hang on like
coals to be honest or or some of these businesses out there where um i hope that they survive it
i hope that they can find a way to adapt and stick around all that being said though i'm i i'm not
in the place to cry over any of these businesses for one when i'm more focused on local mom and
pop businesses that's a whole different category to me and also i will always come back to this if
you are good at your job if you are good at business you should be able to survive anything uh
people were able to survive the great depression like i you know businesses were
i i feel like that you this is the american com this is american business and things do
evolve and change i mean that's just the reality right like this is an old this is an old practice
people aren't buying magazines really i mean there yes there are still some but i'm just saying
in general and then it's not just their delivery of of it it's also have the have the magazine
companies evolved and you know you know i mean so so there's a lot to this and and i do think that
it you're right it is it's just it's commerce it is um it's basic economics like some things
some things are going to stand the test of time and because they involve evolve and they engage in
e-commerce and that kind of thing but but then there's also some that will just just end i mean right
like there there there are natural endings that um you know sometimes we mourn those but but
there's still it's still a natural ending right like it doesn't make sense that this would
exist anymore so i mean when's the last time you actually saw the prize patrol yeah yeah yeah
i mean i've never personally seen them but you know it used to be a big oh yeah a big thing but
but it's also just an old way of of delivering information and an old practice of um you know how
people engage so it's not overly surprising yeah it's just like another thing though i
always that i remember my papa feeling uh disappointed that like singing telegrams went away
and that kind of thing you know i mean it's best it's it's just uh the way this world works in
business are you someone whose phone is always dead or are you scanning every room for outlets
once your phone dips to 50 percent i think there are two different types of people like
when it comes to this and it's either what are the other there's no middle ground uh according to
important new research the quote panic panic percentage where the average person starts worrying
about their phones charger is at 38 percent that's when we start to panic so that's funny i'm
more of the one like if there's a charger nearby i'll just have a charging because whatever you
know why not have it fully charged yeah but i always laugh because my kids i'll notice there's
in like 30 percent somewhere and i'll be like charge your phone so you have a phone when you're
driving you know and so that is funny that you said it's in the 30s it must be a mom thing i don't
know and i i'm with you on it though uh mine hits around the 30 percent and num num starting to
worry i'm more of the plug it in at 50 i plug it in as soon as i can i as soon as i can i don't
it in part part of what i do it for it's certainly the peace of mind i know it's all charged up and
ready to go no matter where i'm going about the day because my day could take me anywhere yeah um
but i i also it keeps me away from my phone a little bit more i'm not looking at it as much it's
over here on my desk i'm over here working or watching a tv show or something like that um and
i like that i like i i i i'm just one of those people that sometimes i need to be physically
removed from an object because otherwise you'll you'll use it yeah you know i have a um wireless
charger sitting on my desk and so when i like when i go get to the office i just take my phone out
of my handbag and i literally just set it right on there i mean it's right there it's accessible
you're not tethered to a cord but i just um i don't know i just set it on there because then it's
that same you don't know what the day is gonna bring yeah and if it's sitting there i might as well
just keep it charged up shout out to the uh you w stevens point pointers uh driving by us in the
roundabout here and uh that beautiful big purple bus uh i don't know where they're heading that
must be heading something maybe across yeah yeah yeah i think so it did look i thought i saw
a lacrosse symbol on there so i didn't know of course how long it takes you to get that
there on as far as worrying about your phone's percentage depends on your phone and how much
you're using it and how good you are about charging it overnight 34 percent of people say that they
don't get concerned until their battery falls below 20 percent that's insanity uh don't talk
okay don't why doesn't everyone charge their phone overnight i that is so the only time i don't
is when i don't remember i don't get it completely logged in but you intended i didn't tend it to
like i i that's never crossed my mind that's that's yeah even i who barely sleeps at night charge
my phone overnight yeah i don't know i mean i i guess i could see it like if you are a plugger
in or during the day yeah but i i mean i and i use but i use the alarm on my phone too so that
would be could you imagine your phone goes that at like 3 a.m. and then no alarm no not sure that
would fly it worked for very long no no um at the other end of the spectrum 24 percent of americans
start to worry about the their battery life before it's even dropped below 50 and not surprisingly
freaking out over battery life is more common among younger adults than older really that is actually
surprising to me they're saying that it isn't in the article i actually find that a little surprising
and i think that's actually a pretty cool thing uh now you may think right well they just don't
want to lose their phone sure that's a big part of it but they're also at a young age keeping
up on tasks keeping up on responsibility teenagers could care less if their phone is dead yeah i
like they'll use it till it's dead not not till it's at 20 percent but literally till it's dead
the younger what they mean by quote younger adults i'd like to know their specifics on that
into the workforce kind of age is what i think about when they say young adults but
but that is yeah that's interesting to me do um that because my kids were older and everything
and a little beyond that the every you know kid to have a cell phone thing um i'm a little out of
this we this is my wheelhouse but for you for others out there i'm always curious about this one
at the age when you let a kid start using a phone more and and the positives that you look to
for it because i i do of course see the negatives we've all heard them for years about the negatives
of cell phones and all of that i don't need to rehash that but i do think there are a lot more
positives than we give credit to and routine and responsibility really can go hand in hand with
a cell phone if it's done right i think it on on the surface again i don't know what i'm talking
about my kids are way older they don't need me anymore but even you know even from this just the
safety aspect like that was one thing that drove me nuts about charging because i'd always be like
make sure especially when they started driving like make sure your phone is charged so that if you
break down if something happens you know to be like your your your phone is charged definitely
so i think i don't know from the parenting aspect of teenagers i feel like they're you know
they're definitely our positives there's a lot of negatives but we also just were pretty um
honestly we were pretty strict with our rules around phones you know our kids got them when they
went to mental middle school and but but by a certain time at night well i always called it park
your phone but i had like a little charging station like they had to charge they didn't phones were
not in bedrooms overnight um you know a good night sleep is really important especially for developing
brains but um you know we so i i was pretty strict strict with with phone rules could you imagine
if your parents could have tracked you when you were a teenager i i guarantee you i can tell you
exactly you would have turned yourself now i would have left it on uh because they probably would
have asked me to and it was the one thing that is yeah i didn't have a lot of to be honest i
i i didn't have a lot of respond um a lot of rules growing up when i was a kid where i was
my parents kind of did but the one rule was to always let him know where i was okay so i would
maybe do that but i guarantee you that after a couple of times they'd have turned it off themselves
they're like i don't want to know what he's up to i don't want to know what he's up to
now um we i don't know about that i feel like you would have been somewhere you shouldn't
have been and you would have turned around and your dad would have been like standing like
directly behind you like you're a hundred percent right you're a hundred percent right if anything
to see what's going on and then to get more if you want to join in yeah yeah yeah and then be
elabica we uh well one of the touch on this before we go to break uh we have got this uh we're
on the hunt everybody we're looking for your Easter egg hunts we've collected a bunch of them
i should say pam is collected a bunch of them thank you pam for that and thank you everybody
for getting them to us uh we're gonna have some we're gonna be announcing them and uh talking more
about them next week as we get you ready for Easter uh looking forward to it you can get right into
it this weekend tomorrow Easter egg hunt at i'm sorry yeah tomorrow uh at Easter egg hunt at
Trinor's Park and breakfast bring your family out to Trinor's for breakfast with Easter bunny
and let kids hunt for eggs along the trail at their leisure breakfast begins in 930 Easter egg hunt
is free for all children they hunt run from 11 to 1 with kids and they'll be able to find a rainbow
of eggs throughout the park like last year they're gonna designate sections for each age range
and everything i love that they do that um not only is this gonna be a lot of fun and a great chance
to get the kids out there and do some of this but a great chance to stop by Trinor's uh right around
the block from us here and the weather's gonna be great that's what's like a super fun event uh enjoy
