Good morning Wisconsin, morning world. It's a new day. Thanks for kicking it off with us at WFHR.
Okay, remember that whole Robin Thick thing and Marvin Gaye's family like trying to sue him?
Every single time you hit that button, I go right to the Robin Thicks. Oh, like I just, so it must, I mean, so I'm very
musically talented. So that tells me that they must have been legit. Well, and yeah, that's that's part of the
reason they have to pay a lot of money to the state of Harvard. Yeah, I mean, ever literally every time you
hit it, that's where I go. We appreciate you joining us everybody. Terry and James here with you,
thanks so much for hanging out with us. We're going to be talking to the United Way with our CEO of
United Way Terry here a little bit later. We're also getting some good stories that today are
scheduled and plenty more. We got some fun topics for you as well coming up. We understand 2025
can be a little bit hectic. It can be a little crazy. Any new year in the beginning of the year.
So we're going to tell you how to turn that around if you're feeling a little overwhelmed or a
little rough the beginning of this year. Got that coming up for you a little bit later, looking forward
to diving into that. Right now we kick off with some entertainment news. We're talking Oprah.
And Oprah Winfrey is taking one of those GLP-1 drugs like ozempic or we gov. I'm not sure
too many of these, but and it made her realize what she's gotten wrong all these years about
thin people. She says quote, I thought they had more willpower. They ate better foods. They were
able to stick to it longer. They never had a potato chip. And then I realized for the very first
time after I took this drug that they're not even thinking about it that they're eating when
they're hungry and they're stopping when they're full. Oprah used to think that weight loss
drugs were basically the easy way out, but that changed. Quote, I realized I'd been blaming myself
all these years for being overweight and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower
is going to control. Obesity is a disease. It's not about willpower. It's about the brain.
And part of the reason I'm covering this store, I think a lot of this is obvious to a lot of
people. I think some people might just be rolling their eyes at it, but I do think that it is
noteworthy. Whatever you think of Oprah Winfrey, I don't believe anybody thinks of Oprah Winfrey
as a dumb person. I don't think anybody thinks of Oprah Winfrey as not somebody who is an intelligent
human being. And somebody who has certainly experienced a lot of different versions of people,
whether it was early in the days back in the days in Chicago when she was starting her talk show,
or obviously the millions of things she has done since and the millions of people she has met and
introduced, interviewed. I think a lot of people might think of Oprah as just interviewing famous
people, but she started out interviewing the everyday people and stuff. She's met a lot of people.
This is a world renowned person. And she's still having her world opened up to things.
I think that is a great note that we can all take, that we can all, we can't judge anything by
its cover. That we all need to look a little bit deeper into subjects and find out more. And that
even some of our smarter or more renowned people and everything still have some opening up
there in the mind to do it. A few aha moments. Yeah, I think all of that is noteworthy.
Outside of that, I got nothing on this. I got nothing on this, although it's not that bad.
Because I wholeheartedly will admit that I am on the other end of this spectrum. I've always had
a difficulty putting on weight, which I understand is not the same thing and I don't put it in the same
category. So I don't really have a leg to stand on in this conversation or anything like that.
I feel for people that that part I have, I have empathy for this. Well, I'm probably the most,
maybe the most important thing that she said there was. She acknowledges that she was judging people
without actually knowing, you know, and each situation is different, right? Like, you know,
we tease you about having a tapeworm. But it's just there's so many factors that
weigh in. You know, you just, you just don't know and you don't know what people are going through.
And so, you know, probably the lesson, right? It's a good reminder from Oprah. Keep your judgment
to yourself. Well, and I, you know, for the most part, though, I will say this part of that.
We need more people in leadership positions admitting that they don't know everything and that
they're wrong sometimes. This idea that you, I can't trust anybody who can't emit the wrong,
like ever, ever, under any subject. There are certain people out there that do that and I can't handle
it. Let's take a phone call. Good morning or on there. Oh, feel free to call back 424-2600. We'd
love to hear from you. Let's go ahead and take a look at some other topics here. So yesterday,
we got to break the Oscar nominations. We have to talk about those as they broke like about a
half an hour before we got to talk about them and everything. And after winning the Golden Globe for
the Substance, Demi Moore could win her second ever acting award because she is up for Oscar for
Best Actress in her first Oscar nomination ever. Okay, here's my ignorance. And for what, like,
what role? This movie, the substance that she did. Oh, okay, that was movie. Okay. Yeah, sorry.
And it was, it was a very publicly released movie. It was very low release. They weren't,
there wasn't a huge budget behind it. And which is part of the reason why a lot of people were
very surprised to see her in the role, but she read the script. She loved it. She doesn't have to
work that much these days. So when she reads something she likes, she's going to dive in. You're
going to enjoy it. Yeah. Uh, I haven't seen the whole movie. There's probably about 20 minutes of
the movie. I have not seen, but what I have seen. Come on. How do you leave 20 minutes of a movie on
the table? Cause we get links. We get like, like, say, uh, as we're nominating these things, say
somebody, uh, best special effects. So we're going to get a, like, a good 10 minutes of that movie
that's the, they think is the best example of that. Okay. So you saw 20 minutes. I know, no, you saw
all of it, but 20 minutes. Yeah. Because of these different links and seeing different parts of the
movie now and here and there and everything. It's very painful, very painful. Um, but I'll say what,
uh, what it was incredible was her performance. I, I'm not intentionally, I'm not gigantic
Demi Moore fan or anything, but growing up, and we didn't, you know, her peak of her career,
I've seen everything she's done. And I would say that she should have nominated for GI Jane.
I think that's her best work until this, this performance, I don't, I, I didn't know she had
this in her. And I knew that Demi Moore is one of the better actors of her generation. Uh,
and I still didn't realize she's got a high bar for me. I, I think a lot of Demi Moore. I think
she's a very strong actor, um, who, if she was in her prime in this day and age, we'd see her doing
it all the back in the time when she was at her prime, you were pigeonholed and you could only do
this, this, and this as an actress. And once you're 34, we don't need you anymore until you're in
your 50s, and then we need you as a gram. As gram. Yeah. Uh, so Demi Moore fought through all that.
And it's now at the point where, um, look, uh, any one of the actors that win for best actress
this year, deserving, they're all good. It's a very tight category this year. It's very difficult to
think of who could lead the lead. The only reason I think Demi Moore might win is because of the,
the outliers that she's never been nominated before, the body of work she has. I wouldn't be
surprised if she wins it. Uh, Amelia Perez is also nominated for 13 nominations and Zoe
Saladana and Carla Sofia Gaskan are also up for awards. Wicked is the biggest movie of the year.
There's no getting around that. It's got 10 nominations, uh, including four best actors, uh,
Cynthia Ervo Ervo. Um, and I know I'm, I'm missing that up. I apologize to her. Um, and she has a
chance to be, and he got winner by the way too. That's, uh, Cynthia. That's pretty cool. Um, so, and
I would not be surprised if she won either in very deserving great, great performance. Um, the
other best picture nominees, Anora, a complete unknown conclave, June part two. I'm still here in
Nickelboys and the substance. And, um, I think an interesting one that could happen to, I heard from
a couple of my, uh, other SAG members about this yesterday after I was talking about it. I think
it's a two man race for best actor between Timothy Shalamey for a complete unknown playing
Bob Dylan and Adrian Brody in the bird list. But what has happened many years when this is,
it's like this, those two vote, those two vote getters split the votes and somebody else
sneaks in. Oh, yeah. You're gonna sleep or not? I didn't think about that, but that could happen.
So, uh, that's something to keep in mind as well. Um, and, uh, yeah, it's gonna be an interesting
one. We'll, we'll see how this goes. A lot of big time names up there. Um, and a lot of names had
been snubbed over the year. So it wouldn't be surprising to see it to me more not win. But I,
I think she is probably the leader in the clubhouse, if you will, right now. But, you know, I,
I think you said, maybe you didn't, but I thought you said she hadn't, this is her first nomination.
Yeah. So I mean, there's, you got to put value with that too, just even, even being nominated.
It's a difficult thing because I believe that you don't, if you want to give somebody a lifetime
achievement award, they have the Cecil B to mill award. That's what that's for. I don't believe
that you should take an Oscar or wait. Like, I, I haven't gotten over the Academy not giving
you an Oscar to Samuel Jackson. Um, Martin Landau is one of my favorite actors I've ever seen.
I love Martin Landau's work. Great actor. He won the Oscar that year for Ed Wood playing
the legacy did an amazing job. But there is nobody who saw Paul fiction. It did not think that
Samuel Jackson did the greatest, but his performance was so good. We're still quoting that movie.
And Samuel Jackson is going to be in a movie like in a month from now, premiering in part because
of that movie. Like it, but they never given Martin Landau an Oscar. So the Academy and all of
it's, you know, thinking, well, we'll give one to Martin Landau here. And well, Samuel will win
one eventually. No, he still hasn't 20 some years later. I hadn't even been nominated. I don't
think that's fair. I don't think it's fair to Martin Landau. And I don't think it's fair to
have to tell me, well, Jackson, just because you didn't get it right before. Martin Landau has
got a hundred performances you could have nominated him for. That was on them, not on Samuel Jackson.
I, I would hate to see something like that happen to Cynthia because they didn't give an Oscar to
me more for our GI gene or something like that. All that being said, it's all political. It's all
who you know. There's so many things and outliers. I don't believe that anybody out there is
genuinely thinking that every time they hand out this award, well, that was the best performance.
Sometimes yes, you know, Tom Hanks and Philadelphia, nobody better that year. Nobody better that year.
There's certain times where it stands out. And then there's other times where it's a very,
very close race because we're talking about judging art. You can't judge art. It's football.
Yeah, maybe we don't don't always get the two best teams. But for the most part, you're getting two
best teams overall for the most part. But when it comes to acting, what Cynthia did to prepare for
the role of Elfaba and Wicked is completely different than what Demi Moore did to prepare for the
role of substance in that substance movie. Well, that's right sports. How can you compare sports?
You can measure, right? There's rules. There's scores. There's yeah, hanging out in the
ward for art for the arts is ridiculous to me. It's all about just pop and circumstance and
hey, take a look at us. And that does that to me actually acting to me is what Jody Foster said.
It's about being the most uncool person in the room. It's about being human and real. And if
you're doing those things, it's actually about not paying attention. It's not about getting
all eyes on me and everything. Acting isn't about attention to me. It's not about fame.
If you're doing it for those reasons, I don't feel like you're doing it right. I don't think that's
the art. I could care less if anybody ever knew my name. But give me a career. Give me a
career. I'll take that. To me, that's the ideal career. Being one of those people, who is I know
I know that guy. I know I know him from something. That's my dream. Like to me, that would be that's
especially because that means I'm doing my job where they don't know my name maybe, but they know
the characters I play. They know your work. That's my job. That not to be famous, not to get
ever make sure everybody sees me and knows my name or whatever. It's to make sure that people
remember my work. That's what it's about. New on your small screen tonight on Paramount Plus,
Star Trek Section 31. Michelle Yow stars in this one. On Hulu, carry on to a reflection. Oh,
that could be good. I don't know what that is. But I would watch. I honestly don't know. I don't
know anything. It's first I'm hearing of this. So I don't know if it's a performance of hers or
it's a show or something. I enjoy the scenery. She's amazing. Great boys. God, what a boy. Yeah.
7 o'clock on NBC tonight. The US Figure Skating Championships. I'll be catching a little bit of
that with my dad. He loves that stuff. Well, figure skating. Well, speaking of art. I mean,
yes, and athletics, I guess, but yeah, it's just like amazing. And on the CW, the 11th season
premiere of Penn and Teller Fool Us, also the Masters of Illusion. Real time with Bill Marr
tonight has Jesse Eisenberg and Stephen A Smith on. Oh, Bill Marr and Stephen A Smith having
a conversation. It's got to be like, have some then have the volume low on that one. So it's
going to get a loud. On Netflix, streaming premiere of Saturday Night, which is about the truth,
the movie about the true story of the first episode of Saturday Night Live. That's been getting
rave reviews. A lot of people like that one. On CW, 7 o'clock tomorrow night from Roger Moore
with love, a special about the life of Bond legend Roger Moore. I want to see that. That sounds
cool. Yeah, it does sound cool. I like, you know, good name, good name, good play on that one.
Timothy Shalameh, host Sedanette Live this weekend should be great. That kid has been wonderful
on that show. He is just so downtown. And of course, all of this is great, but what really matters
is football. Football on Sunday, three o'clock, the NFC championship, Philly,
versus Washington. Who cares? The big one is Kansas City and Buffalo. Who does care? I mean,
I'm sorry. It's a beast. I don't really. I read generally like, I Washington's got some good
players that I think are cool and everything. But I, the Philadelphia fan base just discussed me.
And I've got friends from Philly. I got friends from Philly that are, they may be listening. I don't
know, but I'll, I stand on that Kansas City Buffalo. To me, that's not only the big one. That could be
better than the Super Bowl. It really could be that if you, if you're paying attention, those two
teams and what they have been through this year and everything the Buffalo fan base has on its
shoulders. I can't imagine the excitement of that and how it's going to be in Kansas City for
that one. That should be a good one. And that is what's new on your small screen this weekend.
But maybe you're looking for some theater in your life, huh? You want to maybe check out
something kind of cool. Well, we got some good stuff going on for you locally. I want to tell you
about for one, our friends over at Central Wisconsin area community theater have karaoke night tonight,
tomorrow night. It'll be going on from seven to 10 over at the shack at 2952 Minnesota Avenue
and beautiful Stevens Point. Check out karaoke night tonight tomorrow night. It is show tunes.
They're going to be focusing on that. It's going to be, that's going to be kind of cool.
And get your tickets for clue. It premieres January 31st, goes on to February 2nd, February 7th,
and 8th. If you like the movie, you're going to love the play. You're going to love it. It is,
it is one of my favorite scripts. It is a very well done script. And you have an amazing cast
for this one. CWAC has nothing but great performers. Okay, I did not see the movie, but I'm assuming
it's along the lines of the game. Yeah. I mean, it's a say. I'm sorry. Yeah, you threw me there.
You were an 80s kid and you haven't seen clue. Oh my god, Terry. It's so good. It's so good,
though. One of the most perfect for me to cast you'll ever see. Hey, well, maybe I'll check it out.
Like when I was a kid, the thing that I loved about it on WGN when they'd play it, it had,
I don't know if anybody ever did this before. It had three different endings. And I guess in
movie theaters, I didn't get to see it in theaters. I saw it on in movie theaters. You never knew
which ending you were going to get. Oh, interesting. How cool. I would love to see somebody have
the strength to do that nowadays with them. So like if you went to a twice, you might see. Yeah,
that's, that's really cool. One of Tim Curry's greatest performances. I love the movie and you
are going to love the show. Get your tickets for CWAC's clue coming up January 31st. Get those
tickets at CWAC.org, CWAC.org. And as we've been talking about, we encourage you to get tickets
for the amazing hip-roof. This is featuring Colin Mockery and Asad Maki. If you'd like a preview of
this, well, they happen to join us out yesterday. So I encourage you to go to civicmedia.us and
check out the show under director's playhouse. You'll find it right up there. A podcast popped up
yesterday. We'll be sharing it on our social media as well. And you can just go ahead and check
it out because you are going to be seeing one of the greatest hypnosis in the world in Asad. And
you're going to see the greatest improv artist in the world in Colin Mockery. Be sure to check
that out everybody. And you don't have to go to LA for this. You don't have to go to Chicago for
this in New York or anything like that. They're going to be in Washington. This sounds super fun,
doesn't it? It's so much fun. Yes. It is a hilarious and a really creative idea that has worked.
It just works. And if you want, you can go to their website at grandmastertheatre.com and find
some trailers, some previews of what they do. It's a really fun show. Encouraging you to get your
tickets for that at grandtheatre.com. And again, a big thank you to Colin Asad for joining us.
It's a lot of fun. You can check out the podcast at civicmedia.us under shows and catch it right
there. Terry and I'll be back with more fun coming up. We're going to get into. Are you already
over 2025? Well, we're going to turn it around. We're going to turn it around. Maybe coming up
on the morning show at WFHR. Welcome back, everybody. Morning show at WFHR.
Little Mr. Mr. to play us in. Still worse. I don't know. Ignite. You know what? It's not the worst
band name. Love her boy. Love her boy is the worst band name of all time. I will die on that hill.
Mr. Mr. is worse. If you are a girl band and you call yourself
lover boy, I'm fine with it. But you cannot be an 80s rock band and call yourself lover boy.
I just know. Mr. Mr. is worse. It's like trying to give yourself a nickname to me. I don't think
you can pull it. I don't think you can do it. I don't think you can. Mr. Mr. is a close second.
How about that? Cory Hart though. Oh, how about that? How about that? Cory.
They're going nicely done. We're not even a month into 2025. But a lot of us are feeling a little
burnt out already. If you're in that group, here are six tips to turn things around. Whether it is
feeling burned out or overwhelmed or just kind of like, you're, you know, you're finally breathing
now and everything after the holiday marathon and stuff. We forget that this stuff,
and we make the joke all the time about, well, we're seeing Christmas decorations and stores
sooner and sooner. But with that, our brains and our hearts and our minds and all of this,
our plans, they're also getting jump, getting a jump start on things. So we're not even,
it's not even just a holiday marathon. I think you can make the argument from October until the
first of the year, it's just a holiday marathon. And there is so much going on. So here we are
January, a couple of weeks into it. And we're finally kind of getting a little bit of breathing
in to getting back to whatever normal is to you or whatever that might be. I think all of this
is good to keep in mind when you're, when we're talking about mental health and we're talking
about wanting to have a good day, let alone a good year, you know, start with the day. And I
think that some of these things can help with that. And I think also remembering that we're giving
each other some grace in this. And you know, we never know what's going through another person's
head. And you know, that goes for doing it for yourself too. We've done a great job of
mental health in this country, I think, and talking about this. Now the real heavy work comes in.
Now we got to start not just doing it for each other for each other, but doing it for ourselves.
And hopefully some of this helps with that. Move every day. You can't just sit around a
doom scrolling all the time and on your, on your phone or your tablet or anything like that.
Put the phone down every now and then and do some active, active stuff. Walking yoga.
But you know, that it, I'm not by nature a sit-arounder, you know, but, but that can, it can happen so
easy. You know, I mean, like, especially when it's cold out or I mean, we're fortunate today,
the sun's out, but sometimes when the sun's not out, you know, you can just curl up whatever
on the couch in the chair. And all of a sudden a few hours have gone by. And I think there's a
lot of strategies that can, you know, sometimes if you wear a smart watch, it'll, it can, you can
program it to buzz you. You can also do it on your phone. Just get an app that just says, oh,
time to move. I mean, literally just get up and do something for five minutes, but sometimes it's
easier said than done. But it's so, but it's so beneficial. And to that point, Tara, I think that's
why it's important. Say your goal is to do this five days a week, but you only get three in.
Not bad. Nice work. But do it for next week. Yeah. Yeah. Keep pushing yourself, but don't be too
hard on yourself. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Don't look at what you didn't do. Look at what you did do.
There's a balance there. I haven't found it, but there's a balance there. We are, we are not,
we should not be the ones going through this list. If you only did three days, get up and get
the other dude on. Eat food that fuels you. That doesn't mean you have to live on salads and protein
shakes, but you should aim for a balance that makes you feel good. There's a time and place for
fast food and, you know, junk food and all that. I mean, you know, I'm a sugar junkie, so that
one's hard for me. Same. But I mean, if I had some Paul Newman salad dressing, I'd probably have
a salad. I feel like my dinner yesterday was cookies. I feel like I, no, it wasn't, but like
to your point, I'm the same way. And yeah, it's important to remember that someday. You know,
what I should probably eat a banana is probably an apple. Yeah, or like I'm more of a grazer. So let's
just say on the weekend, and maybe not during the workday, but, but at home, but then I have to
remind myself, like I love that cheese spread that goes on crackers. You know, but I can just,
I could eat a whole roll of crackers. Yeah. Okay, how about some veggies or fruit to go with
it? Have half the roll of crackers, not the whole one. I usually remember about halfway through
the rack. I usually remember like, oh, yeah, I should probably throw something healthy in the
list. But the best thing, Ritz crackers now, you know, but they have many, they have small stacks.
I heard about that. And I love them because I'm just like, okay, well, when the package is gone,
that's it. Greatest cracker. I will go out and say,
greatest cracker, Ritz crackers, greatest cracker. Yeah, find something that makes you happier to get
through the day and do it more often. It could be time with family, traveling, gardening,
playing an instrument, walking the dog, pet the kitty. Is it, you know, for, for a lot of people,
it's music, you know, and how often do you have as a time as an adult to listen to music?
But put the music in during your movement break. Yes, it can be a reward.
The music could help you move. Get up. Put on your favorite, you know, playlist or whatever.
And then, yeah, put on some music that moves you and the two could go hand in hand.
Get your stress under control. Stress is a drain, physical and mentally. So getting it into a
manageable level can have big effects. That's easier said than done, of course. But even small
improvements can impact how good you feel. And that latter part really keep that in mind.
We have a tendency to be all or nothing with things. I'm all in. I got to do all this.
110% blah, blah, blah. That's not how life works. There's a lot more gray area in life than not.
Yes. Oh, go ahead. Sorry. That's just important. I think to keep in mind and give
yourself some grace with that. Yeah. And I think sometimes for some people, not everyone, of course,
but that environments can be stressful, right? So like, let's say you've just let, I don't know,
a room of your house get out of control. You know, ask the other thing that you ask someone to help
you get it. You know, I mean, if you just can't because sometimes it just feels so overwhelming.
And it's like, just get somebody to help you get it back to whatever is except, you know,
whatever level of whatever clean cleanliness organization, whatever so that you just really
are feeling comfortable. And then, you know, I don't know, use your movement break to tidy it up
five minutes each day. And then you don't again, easier said than done. But I think sometimes we,
I definitely like will turn away help because it's like, no, I did this. I got to do that kind of
thing. So, you know, when there's help available, take it. I try to remember all the people that I've
looked up to or think of as strong or strong will or anything like that. Every one of them has
asked for help at some point in their life. Yeah. Yeah. We all do. We all, none of us get through
this without each other without some help from time to time. And you can, again, there's a balance.
You can do things independently and be proud of that while also from time to time. You know what,
this one I do, I do need a hand. I need a spotter for that. If you're, if you're bench pressing,
you better have a spotter. Like, that's not, that's not, you're not weak for doing that. That
you're smart for doing that. You don't need a spotter. You might maybe need some more weight. Yeah,
but the other thing I think too, just figuring out how to get stressed to a, to a manageable level.
And that's different for every person. But, you know, figuring out what that is, what are the things
and, and maybe you just pick one thing because if you pick 10 things that are adding to your
stress, are you going to resolve 10? Probably not. But if you pick two, it's manageable.
Limit caffeine and alcohol. They can be fine and moderation, but drinking coffee or alcohol
too late in the day can impact your sleep and bad sleep. Of course, it can affect everything,
especially your energy and your motivation and so many of those things. I, I hope everybody's
sitting down. I am taking this time in the beginning of this year to really try to reset my sleep
pattern. And by that, I mean, have a sleep pattern. Like actually crawling into your bed with
the lights off, with blanket on, like, for sleeping. No work, no nothing. No computer, no games.
Phone goes off. Yep. My phone goes off. Not even looking at it. Not even paying attention to it.
I, I'm finding this very difficult. But I was going to say, I think that's funny because your,
your body language was like, my phone goes off. I'm not like you're pushing it away. So you're
seeing it go off. Turn the dang thing off. Yeah. Yeah. I should just do that. I should, I should,
you have a, like, do not disturb mode. You can leave it on so certain people can get through to you
if they need to call. That's true. But it's still distracting you because I could tell by your body
language. You're right. You're right. And that's a good note. That's a good note. I gotta remember
that. You might not look at it, but you can see across the room that it's lighting up. I honestly didn't
think that that's a great note by you. That's a great note. And finally on here, get good sleep.
Even if you follow every single piece of advice mentioned to already, if you don't get enough sleep,
you won't feel good. So at a minimum, try to go to bed at a reasonable hour, get seven to nine
hours and wake up at a consistent time each day. Now that part I got down. I get up at the same
time every day, whether I'm coming in here or not. So on Sunday morning, you'll get up at the
same time you got up today. Yep. Okay. Yep. Whether I want to or not. I agree. I mean, I feel better
if I stay consistent. I get these delusions of grand or like, I'm going to sleep in. Yeah. Yeah.
Right? And I might sleep an extra hour. So I mean, it's nice, but I probably would do better and
have a more productive day if I literally just got up when I normally get up. I, I, I, you know,
because at my age, you get up to go to the bathroom during the night or in the morning, your
body's like, okay, get up. And then sometimes I'll crawl back in bed. And I'll go to sleep for another
hour, but it's just it would be smarter to just stay up. Sleeping in feels great from what I
remember. I haven't done it in so long, but there aren't many things that are better than being
able to fall back asleep and have the time to be able to do it. Every once in a while, I can't do
that. Yeah, it's like a little once in a while. It's like a sneaky little treat. Yes. Yes, it is.
Like you're getting away with something. We're going to get a nap in during the break. No,
we're not. Yeah, we are. We'll try. I am nice. Good on you. Take it. Take it. We'll be back
with more show coming up on the morning show, everybody.
Welcome back, everybody. Morning show here at WFHR. Terry and James hanging out with you. We hope
you're having a fantastic Friday out there. Thank you so much for joining us. Got an interesting one
here, Terry. That is out of my wheelhouse, but I think it's an interesting one. It is a wedding content
creators time. It's the top. It is that time of year where a lot of, I guess, weddings are being
planned and started and all that in the top wedding trends for 2025 are making the rounds right
now. All right. So here, a site called Web Society, Ask Thousands of vendors across the U.S.
to predict the top wedding trends of 2025. And wedding content creator is number one.
According to the press release, they capture real-time, authentic, high and engaging social media
style content. And they're usually hired in addition to a photographer and video photographer.
Oh my lord. What the what, man? Like, I mean, I'm actually spending on these things.
But why? Okay, I guess my question is, so you might have a, I mean, I get the videographer
and the photographer. But why, why couldn't the videographer maybe be a little more dynamic?
And I think I don't know. I mean, I don't know because I've got married a long time ago. But like,
I would maybe not. In my brain, like the photographer and the videographer might come from the same
company. Yeah. Like you might get a break it more. And I haven't pre-read this, but just glancing
at the list here and everything. The one thing, the one trend I don't see on here that I'm a
little surprised by is saving money. This is supposed to be a launching pad to your relationship,
the future of your relationship and everything. Again, you could do both. You could have a
rememberable day and a great day and not go into debt. Like, I don't know, I would think, I would
think you can. I shouldn't even be talking about this. I was gonna say. I've been to a bunch of
weddings, but I've only had one. It was at a courthouse in spoiler alert and ended. But you don't,
I mean, but you don't know. Maybe people who have that, maybe they're not going in a debt,
maybe they've been saved, maybe they've had a long engagement to save for the dream wedding.
You know, I don't know. Alright, so a social media artist. Weird. Okay, what else? Number two on
the list. Maybe this is a little bit of what I was talking about. Small wedding parties. Just a few
bridesmaids in grooms, not necessarily 10 on both sides and everything. So slow in that. This is
a little bit funny, totally not funny, but it was funny. I was in a wedding once, like as a bridesmaid,
and there were 24 attendance on both sides. That's too much. So the wedding party was 50, right,
the bridegroom, and 48 others. 50 people plus ushers. I'm sure they had their reasons, but no,
but no. I mean, whatever. It was fun, funny. We had a good time, but there was as many people
up in the front and churches. There were the pews. Yeah, that's hilarious. You know, so I think it was
kind of like, honestly, probably the, the literal, and you know, you're not a girl. So you don't
know this, but maybe your sister, maybe your sister went through this. But you know, like when you're,
when you were a kid or when I was a kid, it was always like, oh, you know, you'll be in my wedding.
I'll be in your way. You know, like I'll be in your wedding, like that kind of thing. And so I
think it was kind of literal. Like maybe every female that this bride had had a conversation with
over the course of her life. She actually had her wedding. That's actually a great. I mean,
we had a great time. We they had a school bus for us. We had good transportation. You know, I mean,
but it was funny. I like the idea that like two people haven't talked since third grade, but she's
going to be in that wedding. But well, but clearly 24 people said yes. So that I wish them well,
certainly, I hope they had it. Oh, okay. That's a football game. That's not a wedding. That's a
football game. I mean, but you know, whatever it was, what it was film style photography photos that
look like they were shot with an old school camera. That's been a big one. I know even going back
to my brother's wedding, which was over 10 years ago. That was a big deal. So that seems like a trend
that's been sticking around mismatched. Bridesmaid dresses is a new big trend. Interesting. I don't
know if it's new really. Oh, yeah. I mean, I think that that's been going on for a while. I mean,
maybe not back like when we got married. But what I've seen a lot of in the last, let's say,
dozen years or so is the bride might choose the color and then allow the attendant to choose the
style dress that they prefer. You know what I mean? Because everybody's body, we were talking
body shapes before, right? Like everybody's is different. Well, I've seen that. I've also seen
where maybe the bride picks the dress and then allows the attendant to pick the color within a
certain color palette. That makes sense. You know, I mean, so it's so it's all you get to choose
between these 10 colors that go together. So I mean, I think that's been going on for a while,
but it's it's neat and it's unique. I do like I appreciate, you know, if I was going to be in a
wedding, I would appreciate being able to pick the style that I feel best suits. I mean, I
not clear plastic pants, but an actual dress. Yeah. Multiple wedding dresses get married in the
first one, then change into a more comfortable dress for the reception. Yeah. That's I don't know
why that should have always been a trend. Hey, serious. Yeah. I don't know. I find two dresses. Oh,
no, I would think that they're buying. No, they're buying two new dresses. Okay. Yeah. So like one is
a the gown, you know, that what I think of as a or what we traditionally think of as a the wedding
gown and then the next is a like a party dress. Yeah. So much less formal again,
uncomfortable, easier to move around it, but but what I've seen is it's still white. It's still
it's I mean, this isn't like I'm going to bring a dress out of my closet to change into. No,
no, this is buying two dresses. Wow. Hmm. Last dances. Let's hope that one's done before my kids
get married. Right. You might still have a first dance solo, but then a last one as well to close
out the night. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that. I almost like that more than
the first dance. I think that's a cool way to do it. I think so because like old people like me go
home before it's done. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So I want to see them dance first, but I kind of like that.
It's a nice isn't it like a nice thank you for coming and staying and being here. We appreciate
you kind of. I mean, that's the message I take from that. Yeah. I also love the idea by the end
of the night, what the bride and groom, like what the condition they're in and how the difference
of the first dance in the last dance is where they're holding each other up and everything. I
kind of like see that. Experimental wedding weekends, unique events or experiences. You know,
you're going to go to a haunted house. I don't know. That's not my that's not my thing, but I
but I I mean, I if people if that's their they like that. That's okay. That's what I'm not too
big, but I kind of like this next one custom dance floors, like wrapping it with your initials
or the wedding logo or or I don't know. I just like easy enough to do now with, you know, with
vinyl. So like you could just cut it out and put it down and it I mean, it really shouldn't
unless it's like some really ornate floor. It really shouldn't damage any kind of flooring. So
yeah, that is cool. Of course, drones are making the they're showing up in every list nowadays.
You might not need a wedding photographer because you have a drone footage. You have drone footage
on it. Yeah, it's tangled in the mother of the bride's hair. It just seems like you're asking.
I think there's a lot of train wrap with this. Yeah, I really feel like no matter how good those
pictures are. There's social media artists has a. Maybe at some point, that'll be the thing.
I don't think we're there yet with drones. I don't know. I think maybe we are. That may be.
I mean, it's not my thing, but I think there's I can think of probably three or four people locally
that have drone companies that they're, you know, using those for a variety of things. And photo
taking is a big one. We've talked with Sheriff Becker about this. Yeah, and if you look at,
but almost every realtor uses them too. You know, you get the overhead view of the so and I think
that people are getting really good at it. So yeah, I mean, it probably has a place in a wedding.
Oddly enough, I think drones going forward are going to be one of those big ones,
big subjects that we're kind of having to see the good and the bad of a subject and really look
at all of it and it being very evident. And I think because we're talking about a mechanical
device, it is going to make people a lot, it's going to be a lot easier for people to be able to do
that and hopefully take that into other sections of life and be able to see the good and bad of things.
So here's my question. Do you have to have an outdoor wedding for drone footage or can you fly
them in the church? I was wondering the same thing. Thank you for saying it out loud. Yes, that's
the one or the same thing. Every person who like manages a church right now is going,
oh my god, outdoors, outdoors. And finally, this is my favorite one out of this. I would actually
almost even think about getting married again just because of this themed dress codes,
like asking everyone to dress up from the 1920s or something like that. I think that's kind of fun.
Do you know, I saw, so I just saw this on Facebook and we were not invited, but it's people that we
know, their song got married. And they had a New Year's wedding. And like I said, I didn't see
an invitation or anything, but all the pictures I saw, it was very clear that the guests were asked to
wear black and all everyone was in black. And the pictures were gorgeous. And I only saw a few
pictures of the bride and groom. I saw mostly just guests posting on Facebook, but it was, I loved
it. I thought it was absolutely beautiful. The bride was in white, but it just, all the guests were
in different interpretations of black. And it wasn't black tie, like it wasn't tuxes, but people were,
you know, slacks and shirts and dresses. And it was, I liked it. We will take our final time out
of the week. We'll come back, wrap up the show Morning Show at WFHR.
Welcome back, everybody.
Morning Show at WFHR. James and Terry hanging out with you for one more segment. Take it to the
top of the hour. We're going to get into our schedule in a moment here and some other fun stuff.
But I want to get into a little bit of United Way talk with you. Terry, as we're wrapping up and
we appreciate having the time from the CEO of the United Way with us every week and every other
week or whenever we were able to join us. We got the chance to talk a little bit about women's
United earlier and just remind everybody that we are in campaign season. Things are wrapping up
in the next couple of weeks. Yeah. So our, you know, we kind of have a plan to close up on January 31.
Sometimes we do. Sometimes we don't. Yeah. But, you know, the longer we stretch it out, the more
it potentially impacts the next campaign. So at some point, you just call it, but we are right now,
you know, a week away. And we're, we're still needing to raise about $20,000. So
just encouraging people to jump in if, you know, if you haven't given or if you're like,
gosh, I could give another 10 bucks, you know, if you've already given, we certainly appreciate that
and so do the partners that, you know, that United Way helps to impact and fund. So you maybe
have been listening to us. I'm sure that you've been listening to us for two hours and enjoying
every second. Absolutely. But, you know, so James spoke earlier about an event that the family
center is having. Family center is one of, is a United Way funded program. And so we, we certainly
are not, you know, their majority funder, but we helped to fund that program. That along with
29 other programs in our service area and imagination library, you know, just some examples,
211. This is where the dollars, you know, that you invest are going. So we do encourage you to,
to take part in that. Another way that you can impact the campaign, this is kind of a heads up,
save the date kind of thing. But, you know, in the month of April, we do a calendar raffle. So
that's even a fun way by you throwing in 10 bucks for a ticket. You could win. We have $2,400,
worth of prizes on there. You could win. But all of those prizes are sponsored. So when we sell
those tickets, that's 100% that goes into the campaign. So there, you know, there's a lot of ways
to, to impact what's happening. But yeah, we're about a week out and then we'll just, you know,
we'll call it wherever we're at and move forward to the next year. Yeah. I encourage you to find out
more in all the different ways that your United Way impacts our community and how you can help
the United Way impact your community. UWSWAC.org, UWSWAC.org and really do appreciate the time
for material and being able to put some time into our United Way conversation here as well.
And you joining us, of course, taking a look at our schedule for today. Stick around,
Matt and Aaron, air coming up, Jane and Greg will have a great time getting ready for the weekend
in the noon hour. They'll be doing that in just a little bit. And then a later today, well,
a midday magazine, one more for the weekend. We got a good one for you. Join us at four o'clock,
where we're going to kick things off, talking with Peggy Kirt, volunteer coordinator at our
Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin. And in part two, Roxanne Filts is going
to join us. She is a director of curriculum and instruction at Wisconsin Rappers Public Schools.
We got a lot to talk about Roxanne with. We don't get to talk to her very often, so it'll be a
nice chance to get a chance to hang out with her a little bit. Ron is going to be a little busy,
so we weren't able to hang out with Ron. Understandable, super intended work comes first.
We also have a great sports schedule lined up for you throughout the whole weekend. It is a
puck night all weekend long right here at WFHR five o'clock. We got playmakers. We'll be here
from five to six. I think I got a solo show today, just me, but I'm not alone. I got you guys out
there to hang out with us. There's Kevin. Yeah, there's Cap, Kevin. I'll just keep him on the line
for two out for the whole hour. We'll have fun today. Join us for playmakers a little later today.
Plenty to talk about with the big sports weekend coming up. Want your predictions? Want to
get into some of that. And again, as I mentioned, a puck night here at WFHR at 630, Wisconsin men's
hockey taking on Michigan big 10 matchup. And on our sister station, WIRI 1055, join Mike and
Chuck as they bring you River King's hockey, taking on the Minnesota mullets. Man, I love token
of coach Peckman. He was in with us Wednesday and we were talking to him, Michael and I talking
about the the season right now for the River Kings, our first place River Kings and how he
wants to hang on to that first place spot. And I talked to my dad after the interview and my dad's
like it's the playoffs already. Like for him, it's already the playoffs. And the way this team is
playing, they're playing like it's already the playoffs. It's a good frame of mind to have, right?
Oh, yeah. They want to hang on to that first place spot. So a technicality. Like, if you play for
the mullets, do you have to have a mullet? It's a good question. It's a good question.
Uh, and I will do some research. I'll look into that one. I mean, not that I care. We're
River Kings. We are, you know, but it's a fair question that if you play hockey, do you have to have
a mullet? Because I mean, traditionally, that is kind of the haircut for the hockey player.
We will be beating up the mullets this weekend at the South of County Rec Center.
Encourage you to head on over there, show them what home ice advantage is.
We don't care. Are you scared? We want to see your hair. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. Otherwise,
if you can't catch the games, of course, you can follow your boys and winters. They build hockey
up and down the river over at 105. Encourage you to join us over there this weekend for that.
A shout out to Mike and Chuck in the great coverage against Friday and Saturday. Puck drops at seven
for that. And on Saturday, you'll have Wisconsin men's hockey again, taking on Michigan,
finishing of that series at seven o'clock. Sunday at 11, Wisconsin men's basketball hosting
Nebraska. That should be a good one as well. And of course, our weekend lineup is strong, man.
Sunday, we got a great lineup for you. Join us at five o'clock for a repeat of director's
playhouse, where we will have Kalamakri, Asad Makiyan. Talk about hip-prov. You can catch that if
you missed it. You can also catch it on our website, civicmedia.us. Seth will have a great
set face and music for you from six to eight. And we are going to replay our
careful advisory episode of Unlabeled, where it's all heavy stuff. It's all just heavier stuff
that we played. That is a good one. Get me your request for Unlabeled at james.mailup at civicmedia.us
or through the civic media app. Quick reminder that the winter farmers markets going on this weekend
as well. Join our friends over at the Wisconsin Rapids and Maravian Church from nine to one and
enjoy this great event. They got some wonderful vendors out there. And if you want to find out more
about those vendors, go to their Facebook page, their winter markets Facebook page, and you should
be able to find out more about it there. And our great friends at the historic point boss have
their ice harvest this weekend. This is an extension of the ported towards ice lion's fishery going
on. You know, I'm not going to lie. I've always wanted to see that. That's a lot of fun. I've
never gone to it. I should not the fishery, the ice harvest. Yeah, I've done that a long time ago.
Probably because of frozen. Yes, yes, but I just I would like to see that. It's going to be a really
fun time. It kicks off at 10 over at 1410 Griffith Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids. Join them for this wonderful
tradition and a great way to relive history and keep history alive. Find out more at historicpointboss.com,
encourage you to do that everybody and attend this event again. The ice harvest happening tomorrow
as a part of the portedwards lion's fishery. Hope the fishery goes well. Hope everybody enjoys
themselves. Have a great time everyone. Let's take a look at some world good stories real quick
before we wrap up. A family's 100 pound tortoise survived the eastern fire in Al-Talena,
Al-Tita. Their house burnt down, but she survived in her burrow out back. That's three feet deep.
So the fires happened and Rocky, the turtle, ended up going under. They couldn't find her.
She just she knew this was coming. That's a smart turtle right there. That is pretty cool.
That's pretty cool. And wildlife officials have been saving a lot of the animals out there.
A big shout out to all those hard workers and everybody so much and we're thinking of everybody
over there. We got to get out of here, but Terry, thank you so much for joining us today and
the impact you and the United Way putting in our community. We appreciate you. Sorry about the
joke early. Yeah, well if you could just grab my walker. That'd be great. I knew it was going to have
a good weekend everybody. This is locally grown radio WFHR 1320-A-M-W-24-A-D-E Wisconsin Rapids
