you're complete memory, right?

I think that's, you know, that has to be the case.

People are looking at 2025 with a little bit of a skewed eye for some reason.

We're also going to tell you about some of the New Year's Eve stuff that's happening

But we kick off, of course, talking New Year's and talking resolutions.

Okay.

Americans are expected to spend more than $1,000 on gifts over the holidays, which isn't

just generous.

It's a new record.

If you're not flush with cash right now, you may be spending more than you should.

A new poll asked people what they plan to, quote, resolve to start doing in 2025.

And the top response was, save and more money.

Ooh.

Money.

Interesting.

Quote, improving their physical health was the second most common resolution followed

by exercising more, being happy, eating healthier, losing weight, improving their mental

health, learning something new, reading more, and improving relationships with family

and friends.

Okay.

Others less common responses include focusing on spiritual matters, traveling, quitting a

bad habit, getting a new job, and moving.

Okay.

Wow.

Just for no reason.

I'm just going to move.

You know?

That one might have been me.

Overall, 31% of Americans plan to make a New Year's resolution this year, including

58% of Gen Zers on the flip side.

Only 14% of boomers will bother with it.

They learn from experience.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And of the people who will make a resolution, 40% say it's likely that it will stick, 50% say

they're somewhat likely to keep the resolution, and 5% already saying their New Year's resolution

is not very likely.

You're not going to give it a shot, but I'm not really that helpful.

I don't have high hopes.

No.

No.

Don't bet on me.

It's only 5%.

That's good.

But those 5% are very self-aware.

Yes.

Yes.

I love the people who resolved to be more happy.

Yeah.

I love that.

It's like, I'm going to be happy.

Yeah.

You can choose your attitude.

Do you really do?

We have control over that.

It's true.

To a certain extent, I agree.

Yes.

It's always, I think, improving their physical health.

We see that all the time.

Measure size.

Those things.

I do like the idea that the last couple of times we've done this together, improving their

mental health is high on the list.

Yeah.

I love seeing reading on there still.

I don't know if they're just putting that on there because they want to look smart.

They want people to read more.

Yeah.

No, it's my favorite hobby.

Yeah.

There you go.

And well, you know, our surveys work though.

Sometimes stuff like, well, how can I look good?

I'll say I'll read more.

Yeah.

For every person like my own lose weight.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Now quitting a bad habit, that's it.

I was actually surprised and I'd see that higher on the list.

I wonder, does that mean we've been doing, we've been doing a good job of doing this so we don't have any more bad habits?

No, no more bad habits.

I wish that's what it was the case.

We've got rid of every single one.

I feel like you're, so I noticed something and I don't feel like I've ever noticed this before.

And I don't know that there's necessarily a better way to do this.

So I don't like throwing out things that I, when I don't have a solution.

Oh.

But gift giving is weird to me.

And I love gift giving.

I was just saying, it's like your favorite thing.

Yeah, I really do.

But I had never thought of it this way before because I'm not used to getting things.

And the idea of, hey, here's your gift.

It just happened at the Christmas party.

No.

I'm standing there and I don't know what's in this thing and I don't know who it's from.

And I feel very nervous because I don't want to disappoint whoever I'm going to open this.

You don't have a bad reaction or anything.

James, you're an actor.

You really should be able to do it.

Or come that.

You'd think.

The one thing he has trouble with, right?

Yeah.

And I realize, like, this is, this is one of the most awkward things we do as a society.

We do this to kids all the time.

We do this to old people, everybody, everybody.

Everybody.

Here's a gift.

Now, we're all going to stare at you until you open it.

And we're going to dissect every single facial expression.

And your reaction better be good too.

Yeah.

Oh, it better be.

I mean, expectations are so high.

I don't have a better option.

But it does feel like this is a little awkward.

I feel the same way about asking somebody, hey, you got a news or a resolution.

So I don't want to ask you guys, put you on the spot and ask you what they are.

Yeah.

I feel like that's something.

So for me, if I'm going in the next year and I want to stop doing something or anything like that,

that's between me.

That's right.

Right.

Now, between you and yourself, you and me.

Yep.

Me and myself and I.

I do think some people are motivated, though, by having kind of a spotter, if you will.

Sure.

But you're there.

Yeah.

Someone to be accountable to.

Yeah, that helps.

So that part I would like to ask you guys.

Before we dive into that, can we go back to the presence for just a second?

Because James, your reaction was great.

Oh, that's right.

But also, you actually loved your gift.

When it comes to your resolution or just in general stopping things or anything like that,

do you do better with a spotter?

Well, maybe I do.

I think I do.

Sometimes we'll see how I do with this one.

I have resolved to be nicer to Seth next year.

So James, you can be my spotter.

Which means, since today is the last day of the year, I could be as mean as I want.

Wait a minute.

You want to get this work?

You want to get that out of your system.

You don't want to hit that leftover from next year.

I can expire.

And you don't want to get you to want that.

You know, you don't have a whole lot of things.

They both say you're going to do similar things and try to keep each other accountable.

Not to you know, air or dirty laundry on the air or anything, but there we go.

I've been saying that since...

I've been saying that since like three owners ago.

I can vouch for that.

I will say this a big improvement where we could never talk to management before now.

It's just in the studio here in the building that we had trouble communicating.

That's a wonderful resolution.

I think that we could all do better about that and about a lot of things in life.

I think sometimes one of the things is with resolutions or any of these that are good at it.

Maybe it's not something gigantic, but maybe it's something that you just want to work better at.

Maybe it's something you're already good at.

You want to be great at.

There you go.

Something like that.

One thing that I think gets missed about resolutions is the idea of it doesn't have to be saving the world.

It can be something that's good big to you or maybe semi-big and take the wins.

Think of looking back at last January and if you could have started it with a couple wins.

You could have started it with, well, I did do that.

I wanted to make sure that I got up five minutes earlier every day.

I'm doing it.

There you go.

Just looking at some New Year's resolution tips to wrap this up here real quick.

One of the first things that most psychologists suggest is start small.

The next biggest thing they suggest is be kind to yourself, which I think right there is a good resolution.

Going in the next year, we can all do better than that.

We can use up a little grace.

Yeah.

Endless friends and your calendar that suggests on that one too.

Yeah.

And thinking positive.

My best friend told me this when I was a kid, man, and it stays with me.

You walk around all day with your fists clenched.

You're going to get in the fight.

If you walk around all day with a negative thought in your head, negative things are probably going to happen.

Set your intentions.

Yep.

This is about what you want.

And if you want this, that's what it takes.

These are the things that it takes.

And just these simple steps.

I think you can't lose.

That's the other part of this.

Are you trying?

Are you getting up every day and fighting?

That's a win, baby.

That's a W right there.

Right.

So I think that right there you've already got something in your back pocket going into 2025.

Yeah.

The thing that I would like to do this year, honestly, and I'm just going to put this all out there for everybody to hear.

Because I want you all to help hold me accountable.

I want to get back to learning guitar.

And I had started several years ago.

It was a new year's intention that I had set multiple years ago.

The last two years, let's say the last three years, have been really crazy busy and no time for me to do any personal self development.

Let's not talk about exercise or weight loss.

Let's just not talk about that.

Let's talk about guitar and singing because that is something that brings me joy and that I enjoy doing.

And I hope Ben Shatek is not listening right now.

But if we can talk about lessons again and I'm really, really sorry.

Sorry.

I'm sorry.

I know I said it a lot and it just doesn't happen.

But maybe this year is the year.

If you have time in your schedule for me, that would be lovely.

Because it is something I do want to do and I miss.

And knowing Ben, he'll make the time.

He's one of the few people you'll meet where as great as he is, talented wise musically he is as a person.

And he has to take a choice.

Because Joel Schumacher and him have a handshake deal about doing Batman.

And it's loose because they're not even sure if they're going to do another Batman.

So him as an actor, he has to make a decision.

Do I stick around and do I make more money than I couldn't for films with this one film?

Or do I go do and ghost in the darkness with Michael Douglas and learn to get better as an actor?

The island of Dr. Monroe with Marlon Brando.

And the movie Heat with Al Pacino and Robert Tanero.

And he chose to work with the greats so that he could be great.

And to me, that's what this game is all about.

That's why I mean, that's not the number one reason.

But that is up there at number one A, one B and everything.

And for him to do that, and they blackballed him.

Like there's a reason you don't see Val Kilmer after Heat for a little while there.

Because Hollywood got ticked. Hollywood was angry at him.

And he fought through that to do other movies and everything.

And to break through on the indie scene a little bit.

Does movies like Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and you know, things like that.

And certainly with the health conditions he has had now.

It makes hopefully a lot of us appreciate his career even more.

Yeah. Again, not saying he's one of the greats of all time.

But I love this guy's work.

I've liked him since top secret.

You know, we're the secrets.

I was in 1984.

And now we're science.

What's the one I'm thinking about?

There's so many for him that I that were such an integral part of my like 10 years.

And they covered a lot of bases.

Here are a few of them.

At number 10, a father and son jewel played an NBA for the first time.

For the same team, even when LeBron James and his son, Bronnie, were played for the LA Lakers.

I believe the first game was easy.

We talked about that yesterday.

Yeah.

It was no worthy.

Yeah.

Breaking made it into the Olympics and it was short lived.

It won't return until 2028 in the Los Angeles games.

But it was pretty exciting.

I think just the summer games were exciting.

It's really wild.

We talked about it a lot at the time.

But we are so divided, so divided, politics, politics, politics, blah, blah, blah.

Olympics come around.

USA.

USA.

It never gets old to me.

And I hope it never stops.

I hope it only gets stronger as we get stronger as a country and become more connected than

divide it.

The convictions, the court scene, all that, that is on here.

And certainly no worthy.

a former president or anything like that, you know, that has spent this much on attorneys?

Like, can we just stop that?

What are your qualifications for presidency?

I won't get in trouble.

You won't need to hire attorneys for me.

Your tax dollars won't have to pay for attorneys.

I love that.

You should just have like, you know, kids, like, the debates are just, okay, now you're

not going to do that again.

The bar should never have been higher than this election and the ones coming forward.

And yet it seems like, for me at least, it's just getting lower and lower.

Saudi Arabia hosted a swimsuit fashion show, which I may not seem not worthy to many

out there.

But it truly was.

Yeah.

And parts of the Middle East right now, they're not allowing women to be seen from windows.

There are certain parts of the Middle East and countries in Middle East when women still

can't drive, let alone vote.

So that is a step.

That is a step.

It's not a big step.

And there's lots of them that need to be taken yet, but that is a step forward.

I think there is a, I don't think I know and talking to people from the Middle East and having

relatives that live in Israel.

There is a gigantic difference of trying to push our culture on another and just basic

human rights.

It's basic human decency.

There's a difference in those things.

And that's, to me, just being specific about it, that's what I'm referring to.

I never tell anybody what to do with their people, their cause or anything like that.

I mean, their culture.

But I do think that there is a certain just basicness of life of like, hey, we're equal.

We should be treated that way.

Yep.

Women are people not objects.

That's right.

Mm-hmm.

A street food taco stand in Mexico got a Michelin star.

That's awesome.

That is definitely what we are going to come back to.

At number four, an extreme marathoner finished running the length of Africa from top to

bottom, running around 10,000 miles over the course of 352 days.

Oh my goodness.

This is one of our good stories.

That is incredible.

A pig kidney was successfully transplanted into a human being.

Yeah.

We touched on that, I think, if I remember correctly.

That's an amazing compliment.

I know I saw that headline.

That is an amazing compliment because previous to that, people did not survive.

That's right.

They've tried it in the past and it hasn't been successful.

But real quick, like if any of these stories are new to you, that's cool.

That's fantastic and everything.

It also speaks to how much better of a job we all need to do with media.

Now we, the three of us work in media.

So of course, when I'm saying that, I'm talking about us and our team here.

But you out there may be like, well, I don't work for a newspaper.

I don't work for a cable company.

What are you talking about me?

You watch it.

You watch it.

Like your viewership.

That's where they get their advertising dollars from.

That's where you get these things.

If you want better news, then demand it.

It's no different than with your sports team.

You want your sports team to be better, stop giving them money, stop showing up to their

games, see if they listen then.

That's how people listen, especially in 2024 and 2025.

You want to get people to listen, hit them in the money.

Hit them in the money.

If you stop watching these things, if you stop doing these things, they will take note.

Now the unfortunate part is too that the people that could suffer oftentimes are the journalists

and the people working on these things.

But that's where social media can come in and you go directly follow them and pay attention

to things they are posting and you go directly to them.

So say there is a writer for the New York Times you enjoy.

You look at their social media and you're going there because they're going to post their

articles.

So you're going straight to the source right there and not going to the New York Times

website and showing them the numbers that they're getting and everything.

And if it's brought up in surveys, if you have a chance to say something, demand better

journalism, demand better news.

That's how you make these things happen.

If you're just sitting back and just taking it all in, then yeah, you're part of this

too.

If we want it to be better, we've got to work for it.

We do.

Choose your clicks.

And here's the coolest part about all this, everybody.

It's not that hard.

This is not the most difficult thing in the world to do.

This is achievable.

I'm not talking about science fiction here or anything.

We can do this together and I genuinely believe that that's what we all want.

We may want different things politically.

We may want different, you know, snacks at night.

But we all want a more connected country and we want good journalism.

I truly believe that.

And this is needed.

Good journalism.

Five as we have, yeah.

It would be really nice to know we can trust what we're reading and what we're getting

from journalists.

Yep.

And the reason, you know, that would be a solid thing for us to be able to rely on.

The second story on here is a big one, but it is a, comes with a bit of heaviness to

it.

The parents that were charged and convicted in a mass school shooting.

That one certainly was no worthy.

And the first time that that had happened.

Yes.

Yes.

James and Jennifer Crumbly were charged and convicted of manslaughter in the 2021 Oxford

High School shooting in Michigan for failing to secure a gun in home, ignoring signs.

This is a, again, this is one of the ways that we hopefully make these things better going

forward.

Here's open.

Make people accountable for their gun ownership.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It should, it's not a birthright.

It's a privilege.

And it should be treated as such.

And I think the 90% of the majority of people out there get that.

And yes, we detected water in the world, in the universe.

Scientists detected water on an asteroid's surface.

That is so cool.

Using data from the retired stratospheric observatory for and framed astronomy.

Scientists from the Southwest Research Institute identified water molecules on two asteroids

in the main asteroid belt.
