Good morning, Wisconsin. Morning, world. It's a new day. Thanks for kicking it off with
us right here at WFH. Take it over, mom. Friday edition of the morning show. Really,
wow, really stretch that F there. Wow. Your host James. Oh, boy. Your host James here
with you by the mic. Join by our head of news. Our co-host Melissa. Okay. Don't bother me.
I'm eating cake for breakfast. Okay. Well, we'll get back to Melissa. You'll give her some
time with that. She deserves time with that. Our head of production. It's German chocolate.
It's German chocolate. That's good. It's a coconut for con frosting and it's got extra
fudge frosting as well. Like I'm in heaven right now. Yeah, that's not good. Well with my
coffee, you focus on that breakfast. Good morning, Wisconsin. It's Friday. We are here
to have some fun. Oh, let me finish introductions. Our head of production, our co-host Seth
Habagger. Hi, we are here to have. Why do you have to introduce him? Just it's in my
it's in his car. It's courtesy. It's in courtesy and it's in his contract. Why do you
nice to Seth? Don't go. We are going to have some fun today. We have got the Elcaf
Abarth Day anniversary club coming up in a little bit. We'll get into not only today,
but Friday and Saturday and Sunday all of that. We have, we're going to make you a star
of the day with our friends from Culver's. That is coming up in a little bit as well.
Looking forward to it. We've got so much food. We got so many things to talk about. We
also got to get into a couple of other ones here. I've got, if you know the Oscar Meyer
Baloney song, we can maybe, you might be able to make some money off of it. Really? Oh,
okay. We're also going to get into how to pet proof your Christmas tree. Got that one
coming up for you as well. Nine o'clock hour. We're going to have some entertainment
news. We're going to talk a little dolly news. We've got that for you. I have a collector
who found maybe the earliest country recording ever. Yeah, yeah, exciting. That's going
to be a good one. A little we're going to revisit Meet the Falkers. Man, I had to practice
that one. And we got some local theater to talk about. It is in gear in season and all
that. A couple of places I want to start. One real quick. I do want to send a big shout
out to my oldest, Brea. Yesterday, her and I got together a little later in the day.
And had a recording session was our final recording session for a while. We recorded, I believe
five episodes yesterday. Oh my gosh. All back to back to back to back. So I bring this
up in part to give my tip my hat to my daughter who's putting in some amazing work on these
things and doing some awesome production. And to warn the audience that my voice is already
dead. It's toast. It's gone. It's gone. This is all
play high. No, they know today. I would sound better than this. Yeah. So just a warning
everybody. I'm working with a rough one today. But I'm going to you got to play hard.
Got to play hurts. I keep going. Gotta keep going. Especially when you have important
things to discuss. And who I don't really know how to word this Melissa. I don't really
know how to confront him about this. But Seth, we get really busy around here and we're
all wearing many hats. And so we did not have a chance. Melissa and I to kind of talk to
you about this privately. So audience, please, if you don't mind. So we're just going
to bring it up right now. Got it. We got it. We know. So we're going to have time to
do it. Melissa. We might as well do it now and might as well let the audience in on
this one. In this comes partially from a headline that Melissa and I came across thieves
to steal van containing 2,500 pies from a Michelin star chef. I knew it was you, Seth.
Seth is the safe place. I ain't saying nothing. I'm not saying nothing. Nothing at all.
Get finished on me. Okay. All right. We'll get into the article and we'll see how
many, you know, connections there possibly might be thieves in northern England might
have bitten off more than they can chew after stealing a van carrying 2,500 pies worth
about 31 grand. Oh, I do believe that we have it on recording that Seth has said that
he has spent time in England. I have been in England. That's true. Okay. All right.
Strike one. Yeah. Michelin star chef Tommy Banks said on Monday that the pies were loaded
and ready to be delivered to York Christmas market when the van was stolen. So they didn't
just steal stolen. They were stolen for Christmas now. Oh, man.
Now that the they probably didn't bargain on nearly a ton of pies that is in the back of the van,
he added to this. The thieves might not have even known those were there. Trying to get away.
I mean, if you steal a van, obviously you're taking it for the vehicle of yours, but I don't
know is this is this something like you you look back there and you're like, whoa, that's a lot
of free pies. And you're, you know, your business mind because you're a criminal, of course,
right? Yeah. It's immediately thinking of you exploit this, right? Yeah. But then it's like, okay,
well, what's the black market like you make a couple bucks off of these? Like you're going to
sell them out of your van. You're stolen van. On the back with the chef's name all over
that's funny because thank you. Well, it's a lot because that's part of this quote. The pies
are all in boxes with my name on them. The chef went on to say, so not not easy to sell. If you
are thieves and read this, I urge you to drop the pies off somewhere so we can at least give them
the people who need food and are not wasted. Yeah, right. A few days later, anonymous say, well,
I don't know what this food pantry. We just suddenly got all these pies. They appeared out of
nowhere. It's really weird. Now there was, there is a sort of good story part of this and everything
because the van was found. Okay. And then the pies were rescued. Okay. And everything. Oh,
thank God. Great job, Seth. But they are still, they are still trying to find who did it. They
am not found who did it yet. I think we should just be happy. The pies are safe. Yeah. Yeah.
You think Seth is the direction you would like to take us. Wait, there's five pies missing.
What happened? What? Those crumbs off of your shirt, they're sad. Look at a little little guilty.
Hey, we don't know where you got that cake you're eating Melissa. I do. I do quality foods on Baker.
Let me tell you, as a kid who's actually, I think it was West Green. The majority of my life on
the other side of the tracks. That is, that is a great work by you. Deflect. Deflect. That's
what that's what you do, right? Yeah. That's what the criminal does, man. That's it. Deflect. And
this is very obviously cake, not pie. I'm not saying it was from the truck. I'm just saying, you
know, we don't know. I even know if you actually were eating cake. Actually, you could be eating
anything. You have to send you a picture. I can send you a picture. I mean, if somebody had
streamyard up, you would see it. It's AI. It's AI. You know, that's what it is. I'm not,
I'm don't believe it. We encourage anybody who may know something about this in the greater New
England area, or England, or London. That'd be yes. That'd be fun. I had to cover that one. I had to
cover that story. We, I was good for pie stories. Yeah. Always, always here. We've got that.
Always here for that. And this was an interesting one. I thought going in a little bit of a different
direction. You're probably heard stories about people who have lost hundreds, maybe even thousands
of dollars because they misplaced their lottery ticket. But this is a little crazier. Last year,
two tickets were sold at a gas station in Encino, California that hit the $395 million jackpot.
But only one winner has come forward. They have to split the prize. So that means someone won
197 million and hasn't claimed it yet. In the deadline is tomorrow. Uh oh. If the winner does not
come forward, it expires. And that 197 mil goes to the state. Oh, wow. We'll be browned to
California public schools. Oh, okay. That's not the worst thing. No, it's not.
Oh, um, because the schools could use it. I'm sure they could. I purposefully type like
played that said that the way I did because I was hoping that you guys, the audience were kind of like,
okay, giving you and get to the state. I don't know. I feel about that to public schools. Oh,
okay. Yeah. It's that funny. How that works. Yeah. Right. Yeah. And I, I think that's kind of,
I hope that was a good feeling for everybody that you should feel good about that. Everyone.
Yeah. The winning numbers were 21, 26, 53, 66, 70 and 13. So if you know anyone who may have
bought a ticket in Encino, California, uh, especially here in Wisconsin, as we're doing this story,
we've definitely got to cover our bases. Um, by the way, the car blocked California audience.
Yeah. Right. Huge. But in one little section of California, one little apartment. I know,
I know for sure. Uh, mega millions jackpot at 50, 579 million will. Uh, so if you, if you,
if you feel like it, uh, we'll play the lottery. I don't know. Yeah. Uh, man, uh, I, I don't, so
for part of the reason I wanted to bring this story up is the oddness of it. Of course,
you don't really hear that very often. Maybe nobody coming forward, but just one of two or,
well, you know, three of 10 when that happens and stuff. Uh, I thought that was interesting,
but how many people out there knew that this is kind of what happens in most states. Uh, I do
believe Wisconsin is from what I could find out is the very same. If this were, this story,
we're taking place in Wisconsin at 197, we'll go to Wisconsin public schools. Don't quote me on that,
but that's just what I could find. Um, how many of us understood that because I have to be
honest with everybody, I did not know that. You know, it gave me a very new perspective of the lottery.
Like, I'm not playing. Uh, but, but I have a little more like, uh, a little more good feeling
about something that is basically, uh, can be an addiction for people. Yeah. We're talking
of gambling and addiction. We're all cool with it. Nobody says talks about surprisingly. You know,
you see the little PSAs at the end of the draft king stuff and all that and everything and
in price picks and all those, you know, gambling addiction, you know, that's about it. That's
all we do. Um, but I, I do think that there's a positive there certainly if we're putting money
into public schools. Yeah. It's interesting. I wonder how much this happens, uh, that where people
do not collect for, you know, I mean, there's, there's chances, you know, someone buys a ticket and
then passes away, you know, and then when they're, it gets lost in the shuffle or something like that.
So I'd be curious to see how often that happens where it's not collected. Or where they're given
as gifts because sometimes I, every once in a while, like, well, we do a bingo game at our family
gathering at Christmas time and some people they'll bring a bunch of lottery tickets and give them
a way as gifts. If you don't, I don't know, scratch them off and actually, like, pay attention
because you're not used to it. Exactly. You could just get lost. Yeah. But my question is you said
this was a partnership. Like one, it took two winners. So does the other winner just out? Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. That's the other part. I thought, I thought, oh, would the one winner get all of it?
Or would they still only get half of it? Yeah. They only get half. Yeah. They only get half. Yeah.
Okay. But they do get the half. Yes, they do. Yeah. Oh, that's good. That would really be a bummer.
Well, and to add on to that, Mel, I thought that they would have to wait. I like that you can't
claim your part until the other party claims theirs, but that's not the case. They were able to claim.
They were able to claim. But when I first got into the story, I'm like, Oh, no. Oh,
because that would be the worst. And that would be me. Like the one time I played the lottery.
Sure. I win. But you can't collect the money until the other person. Sorry, Mr. Melon. Yeah.
Can I give you the money? No, I'm getting my money. I'm getting that money. We'll wear another.
I'm going. That's a crazy story. I thought of that. And just interesting.
Can you use lottery winnings for bail? We're going to find out. We will be back with the
old cafe. We've got to love our Friday shows. We'll be back with the old cafe for a
Data Investor Club on the morning show at WFHR.
You heard the fat four. You know what time it is. The old cafe,
Burt and Anniversary Club. One of our favorite parts of the day. We get to celebrate you

You can of course direct messages on our Facebook pages as well. And we encourage you to call up.
That's right. 715-424-2600. Call up and wish your birthday or anniversary live on air.
One button dial in with civic media app. Thank you so much everybody who's already
downloaded the app. This is a recording. It sounded so professional. It was so good.
It was really good. It's almost like I did this for a living. It's something like that.
We do have to rewind for a second though. And going to a belated birthday that was
yesterday, Kim Dolan. We didn't have her name on the list. But we got it now. And Kim,
you automatically qualify. That's right. You automatically move on. Anytime we miss something or
make a mistake, you're automatically qualifying. Kim is moving on. You know the more I do this
segment, the more I want to host a game show. I can really do. I really want to host a game show one day.
I tell you're on a game show we could do. Going back to the Marcus Days. I've been working on a
game show on a radio game show. And I still work in progress. He's not lying. He's not lying.
And for today, we've got three possible qualifiers. And of course, we had our qualifier drawn yesterday.
But we do want to add Julian Eiser to the list. Happy birthday to Julian. I wish you a good one there.
Yep. And let's take a look at Saturday. All right. Oh, we still want to say the names. I'm so sorry.
So Carol Kowisky. Carol Kowisky's birthday is today. We wish you a happy birthday. Carol.
Yes, indeed. And joy. The day Carol wishing you a great one. And our qualifier Cecilia,
C.C. Lawdenbach. That's right. C.C. Again. Happy birthday. Happy birthday.
On the right day. Enjoy your day Cecilia. Enjoy your day. And I have to admit that we mess this up
just so we could say Cecilia two days. That's right. Yeah. Good old C.C. Yeah. That's a great day.
For to Saturday, we have one name on the list. So we want to wish a happy birthday to one person
that can qualify. First up, I want to wish a happy birthday to my Aunt Marion. One of my favorite
people in the universe. And one of that, when you look in the dictionary at Spitfire,
my Aunt Marion shows right up. And she is darn proud of that. That's good. I've been saying that
since I was about 10 years old. And she loves that line. So that's why I say it. She loves it.
She is really something though. Aunt Marion put 30 some years into weightressing and was
incredible at it. Just incredible at it. A really easy job. She was a heck of a mom and a really
wonderful human being. I have a great one Aunt Marion and talk to you a little bit later. Yes.
I know she listens. So I got to get all of that. I got to get all of that. I still spit fire on you.
Yeah. And a happy birthday to Angie Wilson. Happy birthday Angie. Happy birthday. Angie is our sole
birthday for Saturday. So she moves on. She's a qualifier. Nice. And then on Sunday, we got two
possible names. Melissa, give me a one or two. One. All right. Got it. We give a happy birthday to Jason
and went. Happy birthday, Jason. Happy birthday, Jason. Enjoy the day. Jay. Hope it's a good one for
you and our qualifier for Sunday. Kathy Sedevee. Happy birthday, Kathy. Happy birthday, Kathy. Wish
you a great day, Kathy. Hope it's a good one. Fun last name to say. Sedevee. Sedevee. I could say it
all those right. That's great. That's great. It's much smoother than mellow. Yeah, right. She just
seems so clunky. It feels like there's a speed bump in my last day. It feels like there is up.
Well, at least it doesn't have a beggar. Not bad. Not bad. I've heard of this
pronounced worse. So yeah, we take a look at celebrity birthdays for this weekend.
Kicking off with today, Johnny football man, Zell is 32. And that is actually in his name.
I think he legally changes. No, I'm not sure. He didn't. Oh, I don't know. That's just wrong.
That's a that's a story. All right. That's a story. But I will say that.
Cautionary tale. Yeah, yeah. But in college, man, was he fun to watch? He was crazy. And now we've
got upsets all the time. It feels like when A&M beat Alabama, that that was huge. That was a big
deal. It was a big one. And it pretty much was all on that kid's shoulders. Yeah. I had a great
team around him. But man, he was on. John Apatow is 57 today. Amazing. A wonderful writer,
director, 40 year old Virgin knocked up. He's also directed a train wreck to produce the
Inkerman movies, Telodegan nights, super bad for getting Sarah Marshall, get him to the geek,
Pineapple Express, stepbrothers, year one, bridesmaids, and HBO's girls. Actually, I haven't seen
much of him in a while, though. He's taken that step back, I think. Yeah. And with that resume.
Hey, he's ignoring. Yeah, you can. But one of those guys, like top 10 people I would love to
be directed by, like John Apatow is I almost think he's kind of underrated. But he's almost our
Ivan rightman in many ways. He's, you know, he seems to people really like to work for him,
because he gets the same people over and over and over again for a lot of his movies. So, yeah,
he seems to be a very fine director in that sense. Peter Buck is 68 guitarist for R.E.M.
That's right. Also a writer for R.E.M. I believe. Yes. He has R.E.M. I know that they're not
a group anymore. They broke up after, you know, or retired, I guess, several years ago.
But Peter Buck is part of a group called the baseball project. It's kind of a super group with
a couple of other well-known singers and songwriters from bands that do nothing but songs above
baseball. Wow. Which I think is so cool. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. Yeah.
Another birthday to celebrate today, one of my favorite comedians of all time. I kept a diary
right after I was born. Day one. Tired from the move. Day two. Everyone thinks I'm an idiot.
The great, the legend Stephen Wright, celebrating his birthday today. Stephen Wright is 69
today. The king of deadpan. Nobody could ever do it better. And just one of my favorite
comedians of all time. There's no way I can watch Stephen Wright and not laugh. I'm telling you.
Just it's impossible. Also, I've done some acting roles here and there. A lot of people might
remember him from a couple of different movies and everything. He's a guy in the couch and
half-baked. He's the DJ on Reservoir Dogs. Yes, yes. Great, great actor. Great career, great career.
And then some people no longer with us. Like one of them, I mean, when I think of people that we
lost too young, one of the honestly, one of the first names I think of is Randy Rhodes.
One of the state in 1956 passed away in 82. Quiet Wright and Ozzy Osborne guitar genius.
Randy Rhodes, before he passed away, recorded an album that he wanted to come out where it's
him playing, doing all of Beethoven's biggest works on his guitar. Wow. And people that have heard
this talk about it and talk about weeping when they heard it. Randy Rhodes was only getting better
and was only getting more and more amazing at what he was doing. And when you get out of, when you
have, you know, Tony Iomi that Ozzy's worked with and you've got to go ahead and match that. And
you do at his age. Randy Rhodes was criminally underrated in some ways and at the same time celebrated.
There's just no amazing guitars. And amazing young man, Ryan White, born in the state in 1971,
passed away, of course, way too young in 1990. Many people consider him an HIV or an AIDS hero.
I don't know how to really, I don't know if those are the right words, but I don't know we have
the right words. When it comes to a life like Ryan's and what his life meant and what it did
for the moment for the country, really what he did. Where we are now with HIV and AIDS, it's so
hard for younger people to understand where we were then and how important stories like his were.
And I don't, that's one thing where we really cannot forget the way it was back then because it was
it was awful. Yeah. Yeah. And it's, it's how we don't go back to those days by remembering them
and remembering people like him. Looking at celebrity Saturday birthdays. Let's see here.
C. Thomas Howell is 58. One of the Brad pack right? He was. He wasn't having a very interesting
career. Yeah. It's like he's an interesting guy too. From what I've heard, he's really,
he's a little quirky. Amazing actor Jeffrey Wright is 59. Bernard Lowe in the Westworld movies,
James Gordon in the Batman movies, BT in the Hunger Games. He was Valentine in Boardwalk Empire.
I was Felix in the Daniel Craig's movie Felix Lighter. Just an great actor. God, Jeffrey Wright's
good. And very good voice actor. He's also the watcher. Yes. In the what if series for Marvel
on. He'll have to get one. Yeah. He's he's working a lot. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Meg Moore Power tool.
Tim Butler from the psychedelic first is 66 on Saturday. Oh.
We love the psychedelic first man. Great. So underrated man. Larry Bird is 68. Saturday.
Most people will say, I love the question. Shop for your life. Larry Bird or Steph Curry,
you know, the Levitard show does this all the time and everything. We're going to bring this up
on playmakers. Oh, we are. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And I wholeheartedly owned that I have taken that
from that. And it's a great question. It's a great question. That's great. Big tip of my hat
to my favorite part. The greatest thing to come out of French like Indiana. Yeah. Yeah.
The Hick from French like that. That's right. Some great nicknames.
Larry Bird had also maybe the greatest trash talker in NBA history. Maybe the greatest
track. Larry Bird would try to talk so much trash and nobody realized it into late in his career.
If not afterwards, Larry would tell you what he was going to do in the middle of the game and
then do it and then just look at you. Like magic would do it and smile. You know, I don't know if
that made it worse or better. But Larry would do it and just look at expressionless. That weird
mustache. Just look at one of the prettiest shots you'll ever see in your life. Larry Bird,
a lot of fun watching his highlights. Man, those those Celtic teams, man.
Kevin McCale, Robert Perry. Oh my gosh. Got the chief in the middle man. Yeah. Tom Waitz,
there's 75 on Saturday. Going down to the whole of the shore. I can see your ads in beer.
Nicely. I can't do that very long. No, no, I can't I can't even try. I don't know how he can do it.
Yeah. Tom Waitz, one of my favorite voices in all time. Great singer, songwriter.
Good actor, too. Yes, I was just going to mention the piano has been drinking my favorite
Tom Waitz song. It's a wonderfully and an incredibly written song and also very funny.
And I think he's my favorite Renfield. It's hard to say, but I think he's my favorite Renfield.
There's been a lot of character actors play Renfield over the years in Bramster in Dracula.
Yeah, but I honestly think his is my favorite performance. He does incredible. He's really good.
He was really good. He was also really good in mystery, man. I love that movie.
I love that movie and I don't care what anybody says. I love that movie ahead of its time.
Johnny Bench, 77 tomorrow, all of famed catcher, maybe the greatest.
Yes. I have to say he was probably the best of all time.
He changed the way catchers catched the how they played the game and he could hold eight
baseballs in one hand. Yeah, man. That's pretty great. Because his hands were huge. Yes.
Yeah. That's a lot of baseball. Yes.
And then we have to speed things up a little bit so we look at Sunday birthdays.
Not too many. Well, Nicki Minaj is just 42 on Sunday. She, whoa, really?
Relays she was in her 40s. Yeah, I mean, either.
But she kind of got the ball rolling for a lot of the younger,
you know, other, by younger, not much younger, but Cardi B and Megan the Stallion and
this influx of female rappers that we're seeing now and the power of that too.
And that's not going anywhere. That's not, when we were kids, Queen Latifa, MC Light,
some of those rappers came out. That is demeanor. Yeah, salt and pepper. But then that faded a
little bit. I don't see that fading again. No, women are in hip hop to stay. That is going
forward. Also, Philip Rivers is 43 on Sunday. Man, he was fun to watch.
Fun, fun player to watch, man. Let's see here. And, oh, oh, um,
can basing her a 71 on Sunday. Oh, wow. Very good actor. And then listen to this list of people
that are no longer with us, but I'll share a birthday. First, Shenato Conner would have been
58 on Sunday. Wow. Certainly, remember her differently, I feel. And her legacy is so much
stronger and different than it could have been. She was an amazing artist in general. That
voice. Yeah, whatever you think of her, you cannot. Otherworldly voice. Yeah, you cannot deny the
uniqueness of that voice. Jim Morrison born on Sunday in 1943, passed away in 71.
There's a lot that you can say about Jim Morrison, but you can't deny where he takes his spot in
rock history. Yep. And where the doors do it. The doors, yeah, all together. And I will say the
same thing about Greg Olman, born in 1947, passed away in 2017, was very fortunate. Probably a year or
two before that, a little bit more before that, probably, to get to introduce the Olman brothers
at rock fest, I believe, with Travis and Ace, my old classic rock days. And as we're coming up,
those steps, we had to run to get there. And we were cutting it so close. And the bands already
up there, they're tuned. They're ready to go. And we get up there. And I'm, unfortunately,
for me, I'm leading Travis and Ace. So I'm running up the steps. And the first thing I see is the
face of rock and roll. And Greg Olman's face. And just a big old smile, like, well, there you all are.
It just, it couldn't have been nicer, man. Like three, four seconds around the guy, but could not have
been cooler or nicer. And like, oh, let's do this. And man, was he amazing, amazing guitar player,
not given enough credit as a guitar player. And that voice, man. I don't know if you, if I had to
pick maybe my favorite harmonies of all time are the Olman brothers. Yeah, this might be, might be.
David Carrady would have been celebrating a birthday as well on Sunday. Sam Kenneson would have
been celebrating a birthday. Uh, Flip Wilson. Oh, my God. And if that doesn't top it all, I think maybe
the greatest entertainer overall entertainer I ever seen. Sammy Davis, Jr. Born in 1925, passed away
in 1990. December 8th was the day. My gosh. Yeah. Yeah. Holy cow. Am I trying to get brie? Like,
kick the kid out of the game. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. But there's a seem to be something
with that day. Something about that day, man. That's crazy. The thing of all of those individuals
on that day. Except they're all dead. Yeah. For that point, it's a solid point. We love
celebrating with you all. Thank you so much for getting us those birthdays and anniversaries.
Everybody a happy birthday anniversary to everybody out there celebrating. I can't think of a better
way to celebrate than with our good friends over at LKFA. Get out over there. 221 Market Avenue,
beautiful port Edwards. Wish them a great day from all of us here at WFHR.

got to be over a decade now. It's been a while, yeah. Get ready to call up everybody 715-424-2600.
Just a touch or two away on the Civic Media app. Call up, let us know what TV theme song this is.
Okay. That took a couple of seconds. Yeah. I chose a short one because I figured we get this one
right away. You shocked me a little bit out there. Good morning. What's your answer?
Carabinercho. Oh, no. Oh, that's so close. So close though. Oh, thank you for trying, man.
Thank you. Thank you for trying. Let's go ahead and try a different version of that one. It's
a little longer. Okay. Okay. Now we got another one coming in. All right. Let's go. We got
here. Yeah. Good morning. What's your answer? Would it be I love Lucy? Yes. Yes.
Nice lead. Excellent. Yes. That's what we got to make of course this very official.
Official. There we go. Now we got our winner. Well done, sir. Can I get your first name?
Larry. Larry. Did you know that one pretty early? Did you feel pretty good about that?
I wonder as it been a while since you've heard it. No, I've recognized that one right off the bat.
There you go. Excellent. Excellent. Yeah. You know, I, I, I, I, I chose a short one thinking,
oh, well, they'll get this one right away. I just surprised me a little bit. Everybody out there.
But Larry, Larry came through. Thank you for that. Larry. We appreciate it. Larry, where are you calling
us from? Wisconsin Rapids. Right. I got ourselves a rapids winner. Okay. All right.
Larry won't have far to go to pick these. No, it's excellent. Larry, thanks so much for listening
and playing along. You're our newest star of the day. Hang on along and get a little
information from here. But you have a great weekend, Larry. Thanks so much for playing.
Yeah. I chose that one just for fun and, uh, yeah, I want to get some callers to people.
I'm going to be honest with everybody. I don't want to get, I don't want to, we don't want to make
it hard. I'm not trying to stump you. No. No. I, I, I, although this one because it's a little
bit on the older side. I mean, you can see I love Lucy and reruns and everything. But this one
might be a look for some people would be like, huh, well, I'm not sure about that one. I think
it might take not for those of us that have the DVD set. Oh, really? Nice. Really? I bet that,
I bet that looks great on DVD. I, I, I, I, I, I met, because when I pull it up on like
YouTube or something like that, the, the, the quality is not really, I bet it's really nice. I'm
thinking that's cool. Elliot Daniel did the theme music for that. Okay. Uh, I just wanted to
shout that out. I thought it's, it's such a well-known theme song. I don't, um, yeah, he did, uh,
I thought he did some other ones. But he worked with Gene Autry and Guy Lombardo and some other.
Oh, wow. Uh, it's like pretty big names there. Yeah. But it does look like I love Lucy. It was
the only theme song he composed. It was the only, yeah. I guess if you're going to have one,
man, have a doozy. Yeah. I love that. I mind as well. Uh, be listening every Friday,
right in this time slot for our next star of the day. We're going to hang out with Larry,
talk to him a little bit. We'll be back in more show, morning show on WFHR.
Welcome back to the show, everybody. Morning show here at WFHR locally grown radio.
Hope you're having a great Friday morning out there. We appreciate you joining us,
everybody. Got Melissa Seth in James here with you. Thank you so much for joining us.
I will admit I got a little distracted Mel. I was watching some of the highlights of,
I love Lucy. The scene where her and Harpo are doing the mirror image thing and he drops his hat
and she drops hers, but his comes back up because he's got it on a string. The look on Lucy's face
because they did this in one take and it's like they did a lot of things back then. And they do
it in one take and it was not planned. He was, uh, he wasn't supposed to do the hat thing was
just supposed to end the bit, but he drops it in Lucy being a great actor, being a vaudevillian
actor herself goes with the bit and drops her hat. The look on her face is one of my favorite things
in the world. It's just priceless. God, she was good. Just an amazing actor, amazing performers,
both of them. What's another word for the source? Sorry, I'm just going to keep putting Stephen
right quotes out there. I'm just going to keep doing that throughout the whole show today. It's a
great one. What is it? What's another word for the source? A little bit. We got a couple of fun
things to get to before we wrap up the hour everybody. Two legendary jingles celebrated 50 years
in 24 in 2024. The Neyamax jingle, which is really a weird one to get stuck in your head and
everything. And I'm not going to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to
work. Melissa is her own earworm. And Oscar Meyer. Oscar Meyer, of course, my baloney has a
problem. My baloney has a first name. It's OSEAR. Both of those. Oscar Meyer is celebrating
the 50th as well for it. And for that, they have a jingle. It's a jingle with a contest.
Okay. We're fans who can recite the entire thing by heart can get paid.
Okay. And if that's you, Melissa, and you're willing to learn it, here's how it works.
You go to singtupay.com, singtupay.com, enter your information along with a video of you performing
the jingle. The deadline is December 15th. So it's right around the corner. You don't get extra
credit for your skill or creativity because they say winners are chosen at random.
It's a partnership with InstaCart. So the price is free baloney.
Nice. A free baloney. Along with the rest of your groceries.
Uh oh. 50 bucks. So basically 50 bucks are willing. Which is cool.
If it grows, it's not bad. And it's not like it's not going to give you many groceries,
but it's not nice. And it's not like you're doing anything too great here.
Not really. So, you know, I don't, I think in the end, that's a five. It finds up.
Yeah. Yeah. They're choosing a thousand winners too. So that's pretty cool.
If they're doing one person, I'd be like, okay, wait a minute, but a thousand people,
that's pretty cool. And everyone who submits an approved video will get a coupon for five
dollars off an eligible Oscar Meyer product. No word on if you get to ride in the Wiener
Mobile though. That's the true prize. Come on, man. I want to drive it. I don't want to ride.
And I want to drive that thing. If you need to push up on a brush up on the song,
we have it for you. Melissa already sang a little bit of it for us and everything.
Okay. That was pretty cool. But I do, yeah, they do have it on their website, I believe.
Oh, okay. Here we go. You can pull that up and everything.
Well, there's the sign up thing here. Oh, and there's the lyrics.
So they give you the lyrics. They don't actually give you this song.
They just give it. That's gotta make sure you memorize it. Yeah. Yeah.
My baloney has a first name. My belogna has a belogna.
If you read it, it you know what screw you be up, man. If I tried to see it while reading it,
it wouldn't work. It's, it's a tough one. But hey, if you want to get in on that,
we encourage you to have some fun with it. Sing to pay.com. Sing to pay.com is the website.
Have fun with that one. And please let us know if you, if you submit,
if you go into it and everything and darn sure, let us know if you win anything.
Yeah, I don't get it. And not that we won in on as hard as anything like that. That's crazy.
I encourage you. Hey, James wants a baloney. That's what I say.
I want that free baloney. Actually, I hate baloney, but my brother loves it.
Not a baloney guy. Not a baloney guy. Well, the only way I like baloney is if you got white bread and
butter. That's like the classic old, yeah, take take your lunch to school thing. Yeah.
Melissa, you said that I immediately thought of my papa doing that on a hot summer day just sitting
there eating. That's one of it. That was one of his go-to sandwiches. That's cool. That's awesome.
And if you have it with mayonnaise, you have to have lettuce and tomato. Yeah, that's true.
That's true. Our next segment, I, I should warn the audience is going to be a little bit,
maybe difficult. And by that, I mean, our, our animal listeners out there, all you animals that
listened to into our shows and everything, which I still wish there was a rating system for,
because we're huge in the animal community. Why do you think we do a pet of the week every week?
I mean, yeah, they're a favorite segment. They love this segment. Well, pets out there,
I warn you, you may not be happy about this one. Pets and Christmas trees can be quite the combo.
And here are four tips to keep your furry friend safe this month. Okay. And maybe from
tearing it down or tearing down all those lower up. Please don't. Please don't, animals.
First one they suggest, and these are all suggestions brought to us from Yahoo and Rover.com
and go to either of those websites and find more details on some of this. But I do think that
right out the gate, I will say a lot of this is a case by case basis. Every tree has probably got
different, it does have different ornaments on it. And some people have tinsel on the bottom,
some won't. Some people prepare for this already and don't even have like a lower half of their
tree. I remember a girl I dated in high school or something like that. That's how her family
was. They only had like a half tree. But it was because they had big dogs. Yeah, makes
tree. That makes sense. That's the way they did it. Get an artificial tree instead of a real one.
Fake trees don't have the same appealing scent and they don't shed, which is good because
pine needles can cause diarrhea and other issues if eaten by animals as we have found out the hard
way with my fur brother. Oh no. Yeah. Sammy loves pine needles. That's rough though.
I don't know if this is for all dogs, but the bottom of his feet, he's allergic to it too.
There's only certain sections of the yard. We really should be letting him in. He'll go to
those sections and everything, but we got to get them out of there. Put the fragile ornaments
on the highest branches and attach ornaments with ribbons or twist ties to make them more
difficult to knock down. Now that part's different. I don't have that part before.
Those metal hangers can become a choking hazard if your dog or cat tries to eat them. Yes.
Which they will. It's just not any stuff. Come on. I know. Hard of being an animal. I know.
They ain't just goats. No. Use cord covers or organizers to keep electric wires out of sight.
That makes sense. Pets may try to chew on wires or can get caught on them, knocking the tree over
and always keep the lights off if you are not home. Okay. That's a big one. That's a big one.
Whether you have pets or not. Yes. Exactly. And cover the water container.
If you're still not confident, your dog or cat will leave the tree alone or your rabbit,
put up a pen or fencing around the base of the tree and add to add an extra layer of protection.
Okay. All right. There's a number of different options. There's a number of different things that
you can do with this one. But interesting nonetheless. I didn't think about tying the ribbons
the ornaments really tying them on them. Yep. But I mean, I do suppose too that that could leave
if they if you have a really determined animal. Just pull the tree now. Yeah. Yeah.
They actually are selling like Christmas tree shields now. Oh. I saw them at Aldi. They're like
it's like a wicker. I don't know. A little two foot high base that you set around the bottom
of the tree. Okay. That they were kind of cool. Wouldn't you just be able to take the cones that
we put on dogs and just use that for that. I mean, I feel like we're, you know, you could save
yourself some. I don't know. Then we can't see the tree. No, you just cover it with a cone. It's like,
wait, what do you want? Find a way if you like it. You got to do something. I mentioned this
earlier and I want to get to this one right now because I thought this is fun. Yeah, this is
an entertainment story. So maybe it leads into the next segment next hour. But I think it's cool.
One of the earliest and most influential recordings in country music history and truly in music
history, American music history, I'll say came in 1927 when producer Ralph Peer met up with Jimmy
Rogers and the Carter family and put out the Bristol sessions. If you have not listened to the
Bristol sessions, I will tell you it is something everybody should listen to at least some of.
The another recording has now been found that predates the Bristol sessions by 30 years. What?
And it might just be the earliest country music recording ever made. And you know we're going to
play a little bit. I hope so. Yeah. It dates back to 1891 and it's sung by Louis Vassaniere from
New Orleans. And the song is called Thompson's Old Grey Mule. Which is fitting because basically
all songs back then. Where about mules? Yeah. Yeah. They truly weren't. We're not even kidding.
You got to sing what you know about, right? Trains or animals. Yeah, this is the things that people
sing about. And the devil. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Absolutely. Now obviously the audio quality is
pretty poor. But considering the recording is 133 years old. Oh, that's amazing. This is
pretty amazing. Yeah. So I'm just going to play a little of this for us everybody.
Oh, that's a hit. Yeah. Oh my gosh. He's got a hit there. I love the
imitating the mules sound there. That was really cool. Boy, that must have been recorded on a
wax cylinder because that was basically all you could record on back in the 1890s. That's
was the first, I mean, it was so brand new back then that the recording technology was just
the wax cylinders. That's so cool. Yeah. They found that. That is so interesting. Wow.
It's pretty amazing. It is amazing. I want to know more about where and how they found it.
Yeah. You know, I wanted to wear this turned up and how they, how they, you know, just happened
to come across it and everything. It's a pretty wild story. I thought that was pretty cool.
Has he shared that one? And as we are wrapping up the hour, did want to just touch on a couple
of other things. Now, first and then a clock hour, going to kick out with some entertainment
news. And then a little bit later in the hour, we are going to get into some fun topics. We've got
what kind of holiday shopper are you? Bargain, early bird, last minute, we will discuss.
Okay. We'll find out what everyone here is. Yeah. Yep. We wish it definitely were going to.
Yeah. And I got a then a right story for the ages about a guy trapped in a well that nobody
saved because they thought he was a ghost. Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah. We got to talk about. Come on now.
That's coming up. Oh, that'll be in there in the night of clock hour. Oh, I'm real. I'm real.
And we're going to wrap up. This is what a ghost would say. I would say almost the last segment of
our show, the full like all segment will be about local events. We've got so much going on. We can't
so busy. I want to make sure to give some time to all those local events and everything. So we'll
be getting all of that in the nine o'clock, looking forward to it. But real quick, just want a couple
of quick stories for you, one of the touch on. And this one I have to as a foolish romantic.
This is beautiful. A hundred year old man and a hundred and two year old woman who met at their
senior living home in Philly ended up falling in love and getting married. Awesome.
Earning them a Guinness World record as the world's oldest newlyweds. That is so cool. All I
can't say this story without smiling. Uh, gigantically, you're going to make Cheshire a cat smile
by face right now. Guinness World Records confirmed this that Bernie Litman and Marjorie fitterman
broke the record for the oldest couple to marry when they tied the knot at their senior living center
on May 19th. Oh man. Two hundred years between them. I love it. They told that Jewish chronicle,
the pair were so lucky to have found each other and to be a support to each other. Especially during
the pandemic. That's when they first met and everything and they just got away from there. They
wrote each other on social media and they started. She wrote on social media or they wrote each other
that way. Now they met at the senior center here but they kept in contact when they couldn't see
each other physically over social media. That's so cool. It's a beautiful little story. That's
cool. That's so sweet. It's so cool that I can't talk about it without me smiling. That
brings eternal. And if that doesn't make you smile, I encourage you to look at pictures of this
couple. They're smiles alone. They are very happy. That's so cool. It's a great story.
If at first you don't succeed then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time. That's actually true.
That was the first one. Yeah, that's true. I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
God, I love it. Stephen Wright, how does he reveal about us?
More Stephen Wright to comment, everybody. We'll be back in more show here at the morning show.
