Be Your Own Person (Hour 2)

Mornings with WFHR · Wed Nov 13, 2024

Good morning, Wisconsin, morning world. It's a new day. Thanks for kicking it off with

us right here at WFHR.

Hope you're having a great Wednesday out there, everybody. Happy hump day. Melissa and James

hanging out with you right now. We got some good things lined up for you. And just a little

bit, we will get into the people magazine named their sexiest man alive. We'll get into

that. Got some local things entertainment-wise to touch on. And got this topic that'll

be fun. What's popular right now that you have zero interest in?

And I also want to get into this one with you, Melissa, and just a little bit. I've been

hanging on to this story. Ring the camera people, the, you know, doorbell. Like ring

doorbells? Yeah, ring doorbell people. Yeah, the ring doorbell camera people are offering

$100,000 for undeniable footage of a real ghost. Oh, I thought you were going to say

Sasquatch. No, I think we are. Oh, I wonder if they turned that down. Like, I'm sorry.

This is what we're looking for. We're looking for. We're looking for. You have an actual

picture of a Sasquatch and like, Oh, no, that's, I, we don't want that. Let's let it go.

No, we just, we're looking for ghosts right now. We're ghosts and nothing else with, let's

dive right now. I think that would have been better last month. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah.

Let's dive into this one right now in entertainment news. And we, we kick things off a little

bit with Amy. I was one of Amy Adams. And I couldn't remember if we had done this story

or not. So I just want to touch on this one for one because I'm a big fan of Amy Adams.

I will admit that. She was very nice to me and I will, you know, let's just get that

out of the way. She's just awesome. Great. She's a really good actor. Yes. Very talented

actors. Very good. Well, Amy Adams is a stay-at-home mom who turns into a dog in her latest

movie, Night B word. Yeah, yeah. We did talk about this briefly because I had to look

up. Right, right, right. So she mentioned how she let her chin hair grow for this role.

Well, she kind of had a follow-up to this too where she had mentioned that she also, she thought

it was noteworthy. Like an interviewer brought this up that she had brought this up in an

interview. And she, she kind of also mentioned, oh, and I forgot to say that I grew up my mustache.

She grew that out too. She wanted to include that in there and everything.

Right. Don't forget. Yeah. I also have hair on top of my lip that I like grow.

And, and, you know, I just, I, I think in this day and age, somebody, you know, being that

honest in that, you know, yeah, someone who's that much in the public eye in the spotlight,

saying, Hey, guess what? I'm human too. So everybody out there, you don't have to strive for

perfection. You can just be you. Yeah. Yeah. I, I, she, she did mention she was very excited

to take a ball, take it all off. Yeah. You know, that, that's also it's an interesting experiment

when you do get to do that. Like when I was playing an older character during glass

mastery last season at W R C T, I let my hair grow as gray. I, I didn't dye it for a while.

And it was just interesting to see. I, I think it's one of the fun things,

when it rolls challenges you or even just asks you to do something like this. I've done just

about everything with my hair. I have bleached it. I have dyed it about three different colors,

short, long dreads. I've done just about everything with it. And every time that I'm doing something

like that, it, it helps me kind of become this person, this different thing. And if that's what

helped her, you know, the more, the first thing that you have to do as an actor is make yourself

believe it. If you can't believe it, you're never going to get the audience. You're never

going to get anybody else to. So whatever you got to do to get to that place, I usually don't

have a problem with. I think there are some extreme circumstances. And there are some people

that I feel like kind of miss the mark. But I, I do think that, you know, hey, if it's growing out

your facial hair, if it's changing your hairstyle, if it's lightening your hair or letting it go gray,

whatever it might be, that's what you do to get to the role. And there's no, um, they have so many

acting teachers out there will tell you this is the Stanolowski method is the greatest method or

method acting. It's great and method. What's the best way for you to do it? However, it takes you

to get to that part, to you to get to that place. Um, and for those of us who aren't actors and who

aren't, you know, are just having lived our lives, trying to conform to societal norms,

trying to be the person that is expected of you, it is also okay to do whatever you want with

your hair or with your face or with your body. Because you don't have to conform to anybody else's

opinion of you. You can just be you, whatever makes you feel good about yourself, your face, your

body, more power to you. I've always wanted to get, uh, Bart Simpson, um, like, uh, like etched into my

hair in the back. So I think I'm going to finally, you just inspired me, Melissa. I think I'm

going to do it. Thank, I'm finally going to do it. I mean, you know, all of those things can be

done differently hair grows. I'm being told, I'm being told by my agent, they are letting me go.

They are, they have let me go. I, okay, yeah, that's understandable. I get that. Yeah. Uh, in six

weeks, Bart would be no, no longer missing. So I don't know why it's a big deal. My, the way my hair

grows six days, like, it's, my hair grows like a weed. It's crazy. Um, and it's, it kind of leads

into Jeff Bridges actually. Uh, Jeff Bridges is in the news. Uh, he is an internal optimist. Uh,

and, and one of those, uh, people that I think a lot of people are, are looking to hear from

right now. And I'm maybe even not looking for just appreciating the Biggal Bowsk actor set some

light on how he is currently maintaining a positive mental posture when he appeared on Monday's

episode of Jimmy Kim alive. Uh, quote, I was disappointed like you were and like others were, uh,

speaking about the results of last week's, uh, US election. He added that he is to going through

the grieving process and, quote, as he works through that, he said he now feels like he's being called

to be a courageous person. Quote. So I am looking for community that shares my dream of how the world

could be. And I'm aligning with that, doing my best to create that dream. Uh, to that end, Bridges

spoke about his share our strength and organization that helps kids, families and communities through

there are, there are no kid hungry campaign and working on the roots cause of hunger to create

more financial security for families. You hear those in our PSAs, uh, Mr. Bridges and our PSAs, uh,

once in a while, uh, talking about this. And earlier in the interview, uh, Jeff mentioned, uh,

recalled a motto of the US Coast Guard, Semper Paratus, uh, meaning always prepared or always ready,

which he learned when he served as a member of the reserve from 67 to 75, uh, because Jeff

Bridges is not a draft Dodger. Um, with the motto in mind, Bridges said he found himself thinking

about how he can be prepared during these times. And, and being prepared and being, you know, ready,

being prepared for things in life, it doesn't always mean physical or action things. Sometimes it

means mentally being prepared for whatever's coming. And, and like, like a Wednesday. And that

doesn't mean, uh, so life right now and, and things like that are a little bit like what they tell

you to do when you're falling. They often say if you're falling, uh, the last thing you want to do

is tighten up and lock up because that, that can hurt yourself even more, especially if you're

falling onto your legs. You know, it's a quick way to snap an ankle. Now, you, what you got to be

is some type of balance between being, you know, prepared while also being loose, being loose,

being, you know, and your body just flows with that. It's, uh, something we learn in football,

uh, when you're taking a hit, uh, don't try to, but, you know, uh, tense up for the hit. Just let it,

just take it, absorb the blow, if you will. We learn it in boxing as well. It's a great way,

especially if you're, you're a fighter like me and, and had no body. So, and you're going to take

a lot of body punches. So you absorb those hits. Uh, that's what life is asking us to do right now.

Well, you, you, you take that energy and you do something with it. Uh, you, these are all terms

that we, as human beings, gave these things anxiety, fear, stress. We define those things. We label

those things. We can also take those things and make good use of them. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I mean, it doesn't,

it doesn't do any good to be angry. I mean, yes, if you're feeling angry, uh, acknowledge the

feeling, but then turn it into something useful, you know, volunteer, donate, um, find a way that

you can help in your community, connect with people in your community because we need that more than

ever. Every election cycle, this happens. Half the country's happy, half the country isn't. Uh,

and, and we've got to live together and work through this. That's how our democracy works. Yeah.

And, and, and there is no, um, to me, this is the best system we have. This is the best

system in the world, this democracy we have. Um, and, and I don't, um, I, I'm not going to,

you know, just because it goes one direction or goes the other direction or what have you,

it doesn't give us the, uh, the, the, uh, the ability to just like, oh, I don't like that.

So I'm going to be grumpy. Like, that's not how life works. Like, uh, yeah, yeah.

Our work continues. You didn't get all green lights going to work today.

So that you're going to be grumpy. Like, no, no, yeah, you roll with these things. You,

you're prepared for everything. You, you, you absorb the hits and you keep moving,

keep moving, keep it going. I don't know, James, I had a lot of really loud trucks driving past

my house this morning when I was trying to, uh, record the news and I was a little bit angry

about it. We'll see in that case. Yeah, just get angry. I, I see yell at those trucks. I said,

I did. I did yell at them. That lot of good it's it. You know, I mean, I'm up here in my tower.

I can't, I can't hear me. No, but you did this, but I did not, I did not include those,

those outbursts in the news. So they go. We've done nicely and good editing by you. Um,

I, it does show you, like, I don't know about anybody else, but every once in a while,

this happens to me where I, I, I, I almost make myself laugh when the middle of an anger,

anger bow or something where I'm yelling at an inanimate object. Like, come on, alarm clock.

And it just hit dawns. I mean, I'm yelling at an electronic device. Like, okay, that's,

that's pretty silly. That's pretty good. Well, and, you know, if we can laugh at ourselves,

that, it's all still okay. If you can't laugh at yourself, chances are you're not getting the joke.

Stephen Cobair revealed people magazines sexiest man alive last night on the lake show.

And the winner is John Krasinski from the office, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan and a quiet place movies,

which he also directed and co-wrote. John appeared on late night and taught Stephen how to be sexy.

He also, he also told Stephen he's doing a Jack Ryan movie right now, which a lot of people

are excited about. There was some talk that he wasn't going to reprise the role in everything. Jack,

I'm sorry, John was also, I would say that another thing that really got him very popular during

the pandemic, he was doing good news kind of stories on YouTube and everything. And I think that

really put him to another level as well. As far as how he felt when he got the news, he told people

quote, just immediate blackout actually, zero thoughts, other than maybe I'm being punked.

Will this change anything for John? Probably not, he lives in Brooklyn with his wife Emily Blunt

and as two daughters. I think it's going to make me do more household chores.

After this comes out, Emily will be able to see how sexy you look taken out the garbage.

Exactly, Emily will see how sexy you look, sweeping the kitchen floor there, buddy. Yeah, I want to

get pictures of that quote. After this comes out, she'll be like, all right, that means you're going

to really earn it here at home. The nice context of that, Melissa, that was perfect. That was perfect.

You get, you can of course check that out if you want out there and everything. I don't, I don't know

if they need to be folks on this. Yeah, I want, I have so many follow-ups every year that this

happens. I mean, I don't disagree that he is a handsome man. Definitely, definitely.

Very handsome guy, but I don't know that he's any more handsome than any other necessarily

actor out there or anything. I would love to know how they make this, you know, the qualifications

for this and everything. Who picks it? That would be interesting to know. Just out of curiosity.

But I also wonder, like, I'm a little surprised this is still a thing. Is anybody else?

I don't know in this day and age. I don't know. You brought it up as a topic and I just kind of

groaned. I don't know if you noticed, but I did. Yeah, I did. I don't really care.

I don't care. I know that in the day and age of magazines, this was a bigger deal, certainly.

Well, because that was that sold magazines, you know, sexiest man alive and then it's on the cover

and then there'd be a full spread inside. You get lots of pictures and blah, blah, blah, blah.

Let's get away from looks, you know? Yeah. I mean, do looks really make the person

or should we judge people by their actions? Yeah, you know, what they do.

There would be no way in the world people magazine would do a sexiest woman alive.

I don't think we're going to see that and I'm not trying to do the whole flip it of thing and

you know, well, whether they can't do men if they're going to do women, and vice versa and all

that. I'm more so talking about what Melissa is hitting on. Like we keep doing that. We just switched,

so we're trying to get better as far as representation for women and all body types and all these

a lot of these things. It's a game you grow chin hairs. Chin hairs, all that. But you definitely

won't be sexiest woman alive then. But you can, but we're going to still do it to men.

We're going to. And especially, you know, look, guys are just can be just as sensitive about

their looks and feelings and all that as women are human too. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know where

we're necessarily raising a generation of guys to necessarily be. I don't know. This doesn't

seem like a positive thing. I don't I don't find the positives in this. Other than if you are

named people sexiest men, maybe it's positive for that person. Although John Krasinski is going to

have more house chores. So I don't know. His reaction, his reaction to it though is is I speak to

him as a person in a way. Yeah. You know, I mean, obviously we've got a pretty, I don't know,

narrow view of his reaction. We weren't there. Yeah. But it doesn't seem like, oh, well,

yeah, I earned that. I deserve that. That wasn't his response. It was just kind of like, oh,

okay. That's great. I would never win this award for a lot of reasons. All of them physical,

almost all of them physical. But one of them would be they usually asked the person to talk to

the person beforehand. And sometimes this isn't even their first choice. Six other people

turn this down. Would you like this award? Yeah. Yeah. That has happened in years past. I believe

the year who Jackman won or something like that. But in the inner they always interview the person

too. And I would be right. I'd be very blunt about this. This is ridiculous. Like this is very

stupid. Like, why are we doing this? And actually, I would start the interview with like, I would like

to thank everybody that I stepped on. I worked very hard for this. I've been working on my appearance

since I was a child. It was really, it was really high school that I realized that I need to,

you know, I don't just say, well, what? What are we doing here? Why? I don't understand it. I don't

know. It's an interesting phenomena being human. Yes. Yeah. We'll take a time out. We'll

come back. We get some local stuff. I want to focus on entertainment wise. We've also got a couple

of other fun topics for you coming up right here on the morning show at WFHR locally grown radio.

Welcome back, everybody. Morning show here at WFHR locally grown radio. Melissa James hanging out with you.

I really don't like cutting off her voice. I really don't. We got some good stuff to get you to

the top of our news break here. I'll lead you right into that. And as you heard during our commercial

break, we got a brand new show on the airwaves for you from five to six every Tuesday and Thursday.

Community stories with Melissa Kay. That is Tuesdays Tuesdays Thursdays is a community stories

junior, correct? Melissa? Correct. And they're kind of under the umbrella's name of community stories.

I believe that's how they'll appear on our website. Once that's the the podcaster up and running,

I didn't see him there yet this morning. But you will be able to access them if you missed it.

And the pilot episode I thought was a lot of great interviews. We had Gunner, which was Mike Pol

interviewed and then Tim Helverson and Darryl Hinling. And they're all veterans in our area who

are doing great things with our veteran organizations. They were great interviews and I enjoyed

speaking with those gentlemen so much. I first off I want to say it's so good to hear you back

to interviewing again. It was part of the for one of the first things I noticed about you before

we even met that I really enjoyed. I like your style. I like the way that you make people not only

comfortable but ask really great questions and follow up questions and all of that. Your guests

were phenomenal. And the stories they shared had me just locked in. I was I'll be honest. I put it

on and wanted to make sure it was playing. Everything was going okay. And I wanted to hear a little

of it. I got to I was fortunate enough to get here. You know the pre you know kind of the pilot

episode if you will already. So I just wanted to check some of it. I was trying to do a couple of

other things while it was on and just got locked in and got completely sucked into it and everything.

Great conversations. So yesterday we had our premiere episode. You've got a new one tomorrow

coming up Melissa. Do you want to preview that at all? Yeah. This one is going to introduce you to

the students at Nikusa Alexander Middle School. And these young people in this tech ed class are

they're in a classroom that is unlike any other in Wisconsin. Possibly the nation because they

have one-to-one ratio of students to 3D printers. And these young people are learning 3D printing.

They're learning how to solve problems. You know they can they they they get an assignment. They

design a 3D printed item. They print it then they design it one day. They print it the next day

while they're designing their next product. So they are are learning quick ideation iteration

and then realizing that they can make these things in a snap. They're also learning words I've never

heard. And actually you can read an article about it that I published yesterday on wfhr.com if you

want to sneak peak. And then the article or the episode of Community Stories Junior will air

tomorrow from 5 to 6. It it starts off with an introduction by the Middle School principal there.

Jason Julius he talks about how the program came about and the great minds behind it the tech

ed teachers Benjamin Peters and Marcus Wilcox. And then you get to meet each one of the students

that are that that agreed to this you know like they all had to sign permission slips and and forms

their parents did. And um but there's almost 30 kids involved in this particular segment of

the radio show. Be sure to check it out everybody every Tuesday and Thursday Community Stories

with Melissa K. If you miss the episode podcast will be at civicmedia.us you can also use that link

growing and growing and we we can't thank you enough for all that. Appreciate you supporting what

we do here. And just another little if I can James I don't know for over our two minutes of

self-promotion. But at the end the very last segment on Thursdays of Community Stories will

include a special story time just for kids it's called tail time. And and we're starting off with

stories about Kevin the cat. Yeah. Our our longtime listeners will have heard me talk about you

know my pet Kevin the cat who is just who's an awesome dude. Well this is his story. So you'll

get to hear hear his story about how he was rescued in this first episode tomorrow. Very excited

about that. Okay that's really cool. Be sure to check that out everybody and you heard Melissa

mentioned the article you can preview of hers and Chuck Laura Terry so many other people putting

in work on our newsletter and some great work great articles nobody is covering central Wisconsin

like we are nobody is covering this area like we are everybody you can find out that about that

coverage at wfhr.com sign up for that newsletter. Yeah the subscriptions are pouring in so it

get yours in today and you'll receive our newsletter tomorrow because it comes out on Thursdays

at noon. Now don't worry if you haven't been around for the previous episodes we will catch you

up there as a catch up like the first five seconds of the newsletter it catches you know I'm

kidding I just sign up sign up everybody. What who's putting that together James because it's not me.

I'm sorry that was a bad joke considering Melissa's got enough on her plate and I just just

put me in a panic mode. Yeah exactly. I don't even know how to find previous. No that's not true

there in my email. Go to wfhr.com sign up for the newsletter everybody and of course we've got

some great local theater going on around here this weekend. Be sure to join us for a hate mail.

It's a fun one. We have got premieres got we've got two episode I want to keep on to say episode

two shows two shows coming up everybody. Can I just let everybody know we've got like

18,000 things going on behind the scenes right now that I'm trying to do. There's a lot of

plate spitting. There's always more to do. Hate mail is premiering this Friday in Saturday seven

o'clock at the Lewis Canton studio theater that is right there in the Centrelius Center right next

to WRCT. Get your tickets at WRC Theater dot org. This is this is definitely a fun one but this

is the one for adults. This is an adult show everybody. This is an adult show and it stars Beth

Habhager and James J. Mayloth. It's directed by Seth Habhager. So it's like the whole WFHR crew

over there is just putting on another show. Yeah we got a good team doing this. We had another

rehearsal yesterday and we're really looking forward to this one everybody. It's going to be a lot

of fun. Encouraging to check this out along with Wisconsin's rapid theater. Make sure to make

notes for their LFT party they have coming up December 8th. That is going to be fun. Get tickets

for that and of course I think you need to get tickets early for that too because they sell out

for that one. Make sure to do that right away everybody and get your tickets for White Christmas

Irving Berlin's White Christmas premieres December 5th. Check out the Christmas the holiday show

that they've got coming up everybody. Yeah the first musical that WRCT has done in a long time so

you don't want to miss this one. And of course we always encourage you to support the kids

taking local theater and that includes our high schools and my own moderately good high school

theater department is presenting 12 angry jurors. Oh this is going to be so good. This will be

Friday and Saturday 730 shows and then November 17th they will have a two o'clock matinee for you.

Tickets are just seven bucks you can get your tickets at showticksforu.com showticksforu.com or

you can get them at the door of the performing art center the day of the show. This is an ambitious

show for adults to do. For a high school yeah oh yeah for adults to do but for a high school to

pull this off it's going to be fantastic. That's impressive like that's impressive a shout out to

their director to the kids to everybody involved in this one I imagine that they have adapted

it a little bit for them and I cannot I am so excited for this it's one of my favorite plays

and one of those ones that I've always wanted to do and I cannot like in this day and age so good

like that's a good one to be doing now like that that fits nice job item and go ahead and get your

tickets for that everybody when we come back we're going to help you maybe get some footage of a

ghost and get some money and we're going to talk about what's popular right now but maybe you

could care less maybe you know it's probably let them have that that's cool that's for that

well I'm getting all that coming up after our news break right here on the morning show at WFHR

welcome back everybody morning show here at WFHR Melissa and James hanging out with you

thanks so much for joining us so if you're sitting on some legit footage of a ghost you've got

today and and you got to get this in there you got to get this into people so and you got to

get it to the ring people the doorbell camera company ring is doing a contest called Great Ghost

Search now they did this for Halloween I don't know if they are continuing it or not this article

that I came across actually was outdated so I apologize for that but I did I did think this was a

fun one to dive into so they announced that you've got you've got you had to get this similar out

of the out of this world contest they did last year it's very similar and they're going to do it

again next year so while you don't you know you you have a certain amount of time to get it into

them I would imagine that if you get ghost footage in June they're going to take it you know

probably so you know hang on to that maybe sure if if no one gets a real ghost on camera the 100

grand would go to whatever video their judges liked best unique and entertaining and all that

so send one in anyway right right so the follow up to this is kind of interesting because guess

what nobody nobody found a ghost everybody I got there there is there is footage that they put

on there of like you know of people like they're what they thought some images that looked a

little similar oftentimes can be explained by just technical difficulties or you know the

the something on the camera lens yeah yeah stuff like that um but I am I am like how how great

would it be if we do get footage of a ghost and it's it's like Casper it dismissed no no I mean

like it's no it's like it's like it's like the stereotypical old cartoon white

sheep white sheep black yeah that's what the actual ghost looks I used to think when I was a kid

um that when you'd see like the typical image of an alien little green eyed you know weird head

all that stuff like what if they actually did look like that like well we got that right

well hey I five everybody we are or we find out it's actually what be Goldberg

yeah oh the whole time they didn't didn't even know didn't even see it come didn't see it the

whole time every ghost looks like Patrick's waist uh I'd be interested I'd definitely be

interested I got it I don't know um I like the idea like see to me I think you actually hit

on something earlier Melissa that I agree and that I think they should be doing any any like

supernatural thing you know that why leave this open just for ghosts you you catch a footage of

any kind of thing hmm you found Sasquatch yeah you you caught footage of the Loch Ness must I mean

how often I've it's kind of funny to see a company like Ring who they can't be hurting for money

no um to do something like this a promo about potentially fictitious

phenomena I mean to be to be real about this uh and I'm not trying to be you know

what what you believe is what you believe I would never squash any of that or anything

but if I'm like I'm the head of marketing and I'm doing this and I'm offering a hundred grand

or whatever like why I might not offer a hundred million I mean it's not as if somebody's

I mean you know if you're asking hey I'll offer like 20 billion dollars if you can find a picture

of Sasquatch like nobody's gonna be able to do it here's here's the one of the things that I

I think there are a lot of positives much more I think actually there's much more positives

than negatives as far as everybody having a camera now in the ring cameras and in this cameras

everywhere um I there's more positives than negatives but one of the the downsides to what I think

is is missing out on these kind of things I I don't know how I can be alone in thinking if there

is a lock this monster if there is a Sasquatch if there are ghosts if there are aliens any of these

things won't we have some footage if not now by now or soon everybody's got a camera everybody's

got something so and we've had this for this technology for quite a while now so it kind of

takes away some of that you know mystery a life like oh I don't know maybe there is a Sasquatch

in the woods probably not probably not we got drones we got cameras everywhere we have we have

satellites in the sky that can tell you what the temperature is you know and any part of the world

right now I feel like if we could if they're hiding like well done well done you win the game of

hide and seek you win but and I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say I choose to believe that

some of these things could still be out there could be happening and we we don't have proof of

it because I like a little bit of mystery in life I do too that's unfortunately I have a reptilian

realistic brain that will not let me just enjoy things sometimes it's very sad it's very sad

because I also have a crazy imagination so I I hope weird combination it's it's not easy Melissa

it's not easy I hope people like I hope they they're like at some point we get some crazy footage

like that's the best part and that's why I said potentially fictitious because you know they're

gonna be people going well they're if if they don't actually get proof they're gonna pick the

best one let's make the best one mm-hmm yeah right even if it is fake yeah it doesn't matter

let's go ahead and dive into this one uh someone asked the internet what's popular right now

that you have zero interest in and there are some fun responses out there um I really good being

not a very hit person and a cool person I really don't know really what's what's going on right

now that is not interesting to me but let's see if we can come up with something here like

the endless cycle of reboots and remakes I've complained about that quite a bit we've been saying

that for quite some time yeah yeah I feel like how many fast and furious movies do we need right

right fast and furious 50 they're uh heading they're speeding into retirement

they're in the slow lane now they're in yes they can't get past gear second gear but you know

what we're still here fast and furious 25 they can't drive at night

number two on this list AI generated influencer content or AI anything or influencer anything

you know people have really had a short shelf life yeah yeah it really did yeah I mean it was

first like be afraid be afraid be afraid wait oh it's here oh well this is our what we already

had okay now we're sick of it well and and there's a real pushback on the influencer thing too

like a lot of people that are struggling out there are looking at people making money and making

a living doing just being an influencer and getting very you know kind of pushing away from it

it at first I think these companies had a really good idea oh we're going to bring real people

in to have them advertise our things um but they didn't just choose real people they chose people

that basically are already doing modeling and act you know those things and um a lot of people

are just tired of it uh you nobody wants to be peddled uh things uh every 24 7 and there's social

media or anything like that there's enough it's very difficult to advertise I'm not at all saying

that it's easy marketing or anything like that but there's certain things like oh hey you

mean people don't want to be beat over the head by this or people don't want to be told that

they don't have it have it kind of shoved in their face hey you can't afford this look at this

you know people get a little tired of that yeah or you you want to do some research on something

you pull up images of I don't know pcox and half or three quarters of the images you pull up our

fake because they're AI generated no sorry no thank you sports betting yeah that I don't get it

I don't get it yeah so so far three for three as far as these trends are these things that are

going I'm um are these are actually popular okay the uh those Stanley cups those uh those

those Stanley cups or or whatever they're no Stanley Stanley Stanley I've been calling them

Stanley because to me there's only one Stanley cup and and that is what uh everybody the NHL

fighting for yes yes but yeah the Stanley cups those are big for a long time and I don't

know if they still are I mean that they were like had led in them or something like that was

something negative that like people were buying all of these and I don't know I don't get the

craze look any cup that costs you like a mortgage like of your house like I know they're not that

expensive but I don't know um I still haven't bought like a traveling coffee mug mmm and it's

just it's not something that I absolutely you know can't live without obviously because I'm living

without it but but it's not a very expensive thing to buy and they have them everywhere I just

haven't managed to buy one yet why would I buy a a Stanley cup I'm sorry I do see uh I do know

the people that have them really enjoy them I'll say that so you know the the people that have one

in every color and every style that's a little excessive yeah to each their own again I am not

you know casting any shade I collected bottles for a lot of time I can't I can't I'm not even

sure the company of mine but I've got one it's definitely not a Stanley but man is it good

like this thing keeps everything hot and cold like at least you know I'd say five six hours if not

longer fillers Botox and plastic surgery yeah yeah yeah that's been around for a long time yeah

yeah it's still popular yeah yeah yeah yeah broccoli haircuts what the what this one I'm going to

push back against a little bit because I don't think that we should be I don't know

huh okay I'm looking it up right now and um yeah I mean it's curly on top and shaved in the back

it's it's a hair so I don't I don't begrudge anybody their hairstyles you know even the mullet has

made a comeback yeah I'm with you so do you do you I will say this um to the guys out there

perming or dying their hair or whatever like that's not fair that's not fair like you I

I have to deal with this hair I have to deal with this hair they're everybody with curly hair wishes

for straight hair and most people with straight hair wish for curly hair so just you know it's

just a thing that we all do the grass is always greener yeah I don't get it just don't get it

cyber trucks uh cyber trucks around here as well is absolutely something I do not get yeah I want

I want to drive around a truck that looks like I was drawn by my my nephew it I do yeah

there there's a lot it like um there's a lot of things about those that need any of these

vehicles um whether we're talking about uh any of these vehicles that uh that Tesla is doing or

anything uh they they if they help the environment if they work well et cetera et cetera fine more

power to them um but I'm waiting at least a decade before I'm even looking at these vehicles

yeah because the people that pre-purchased them then they get surprised oh sorry it class more now

yeah oh this doesn't or or half the things aren't working on them or or you got you got the guy that

runs the company saying that uh computers and tech are an important uh like it's also saying

we're going to crash the economy and then it's going to be better no thank you yeah yeah that's

yeah yeah um pickleball shows up on the list I push back against this one I still think it's

cool because I want to play it yeah I do too I want to play too I want to try it yeah um vaping vaping

yeah well have you heard of vape lung thank you yeah I don't want my lungs to crackle uh I leave

that for my rice crispies thank you snap crackle pop yeah um uh we we've done uh quite a bit about

cigarettes and nicotine and and taking them out of uh you know circulation and everything um

we did that because of the data and the research and the science that that we have found about

them we don't know hardly anything about vaping yet and that right there kind of you know makes

me call okay pause uh politics as uh as your personality please stop yes please please stop

like you have a you know grow a personality I'm not trying to be mean I'm not trying to be blunt

I'm not even saying I have a personality uh but I don't attach mine to people who don't even know who

I am or or or or could care less of who I am and that's not saying uh any any personal party or

pointing anybody out I'm talking about all politicians um like especially at this point after

november 5th how much do you think that they care about you I'm not how much do you truly think

like uh attaching yourself to these people only brings you down like stand for yourself

be yourself uh for one uh legally it's time to take down the political science so take them

down uh legally it's time to take them down they should have been down already but your day late

if you haven't taken your political science down everybody um that's one thing but number one on

the number two on the list if not number one on the list is be your own person like this isn't

your sports team this isn't this and I would even say this if you were just constantly wearing

this your sports team guard gear every day I'd say the same thing like be yourself man they grow

your own personality it I don't know I mean maybe I'm an island on this one and go right ahead

and call me up seven one five four two four twenty six hundred my email is james dot mail up at

civic media dot us but uh there's a difference of being backing somebody and wanting them to win

the uh or be elected president and occult there's a big difference and if you if you know the

difference or if you you counter this please let me know please call right up at phone lines are open

phones are working I mean yeah phones are working celebrity brands and celebrity podcasts

uh that's another one oh we lost Melissa and yep our our computers went down that's that's what's

going I was a little curious why Melissa did I thought Melissa would have something to say on that one

it's a real reason I kept rambling there everybody was because I was waiting for Melissa to jump in

charitable states in America based on donations and volunteers uh Wyoming is number one overall

so that's really cool that's pretty cool Wyoming is up there uh let's see here and uh uh Utah

Minnesota main in Delaware fill out the top five um Illinois comes in at number 12 and Wisconsin

is at 36 okay so we're a little further down than middle of the pack yeah we usually land

yeah we'd like to be a little higher that just uh hopefully encourages everybody out there to uh

you know the gift it's a great time of year or at two people in Hawaii organized a rescue

effort after a baby goat got stranded on a cliff for four days oh my someone had an animal

sanctuary is taking him in uh the name they named him bala buddy and he's already got his own

Instagram he's already oh of course he does that's fantastic uh that's a good one and Disney saved a

family of four on Sunday after they got stranded on a sinking boat near Bermuda yeah the closest

ship to them was a cruise ship called the Disney treasure and the captain sent out a lifeboat and

scoop them up I know this isn't how it happened but I love the idea of these people they're
