Seth and James hanging out with you at 904 on the clock. We got the whole hour to hang out. We do. We got good things on the way.
Get into our good stories of the day. Got it, then, a right story. We'll also get into our schedule and our local coverage around here. Look before it all that.
But of course, we kick off the night of clock hour with some entertainment news and Snoop Dogg seems to be having the time of his life in Paris.
He is all over the place. There was a lot of comments about how much he's not only been enjoying himself, but how he's been kind of like getting out of his comfort zone and doing a lot of things that nobody would imagine Snoop doing trying to race Michael Phelps in a pool and doing. It is horrible.
It's funny as I'll get out, man. There's just been a bunch of those different things, but sources say the Snoop is making close to 500, 500 K a day doing this as an NBC correspondence. Right. Right. That sounds about right now.
This includes bonuses and everything and a number of other things as for his role at the game. Snoop recently said, quote, I'm doing the things that I do to politically stay correct and just being Snoop Dogg.
And that's why I know how to do what I know how to do best. Okay. So I what has been interesting about this is a lot of people like is popular as he is. It is well known as he is.
There's a lot of older people out there that are watching the Olympics and a lot of older people around the world that are watching the Olympics that are just learning who Snoop is. And this is the impression. This is the version they're getting of him.
A more weathered in more fine tuned kind of snoop, which is older and wiser, right? Yeah, which is just fascinating to me. It is fast. Very interesting. Absolutely crazy. I don't know that there is a comp to him.
Like Willie Nelson is close. Yeah.
Willie going from where he started the where he is now and the arc of his career is kind of close. I don't know if there's another one.
Like this. I can't think of one. No. When we were in high school, this man was a murder charges. Yeah.
Like and now he is hanging out with Martha Stewart. Yeah. There's no one called that one. No. Who has an arc to their career that even compares to this?
No. I can't think of anybody. I really like the only other cops I have are other rappers. And even they didn't like have necessarily like maybe iced tea is a cop.
Yeah. You know, you look at a lot of law enforcement agencies, a lot of law enforcement members out there, like work with iced tea now and ice tea breaks with a lot of law enforcement agencies.
He's played a cop on TV. In the movies, he did a new Jackson. Yeah. That's right. He did that too. Man, he was good in New Jack City. He was.
There's there's so maybe that is close comp. But even that is a little bit of I don't know if it's necessarily in that realm of voice.
No. No. Where he's I mean, people still may not know who iced tea is. There's very few people who don't know who Snoop Dogg is now. Yeah.
Yeah. And I love this. I'm going from Snoop to Dolly Parton. Oh.
They want a transition. An old interview just resurfaced featuring Julie Roberts talking about what it was like working with Dolly Parton during on the set of 1989 Steel Magnolius. Oh wow. Yeah.
They shot the film in Louisiana during the middle of summer. So it's safe to say it was really, really hot. Yeah.
But Julia was amazed that Dolly wasn't complaining because everybody else on set was every single person on that set was Shirley McLean in the interview just starts laughing and say just raising her hand like I sure was.
Like you know, and everything. Julia said everybody had ice on their wrists during the whole thing. And Dolly's never said a thing.
And finally, I just had to say to her, Dolly, you got a wig and it's wool. It's hot. Just just say it's hot. You know, this is a drag. It's okay.
And Dolly looked at her and replied, when I was a little girl, I wanted to be famous and I wanted to be rich. And now I'm both of these things.
So I got nothing to complain about. Wow. Julia said, quote, now every time I go to complain or just kind of moan, I always hear Dolly sitting on the porch saying that and it keeps me quiet.
How about that beautiful words from a classy lady, just incredible, just incredible, just a wonderful human being. And a really nice note to hear from Julia Roberts.
It's interesting. Everything I've talked about with a lot of other celebrities, Julia Roberts, we don't really know much about.
No, no. She's been kept herself pretty in for a few exceptions, kept her private life private, which is hard, which is not easy to do when you're a big star.
I know she was married to lie. I love it for two seconds. Right. Right. Right. Yeah. I think that's about the last personal thing I knew about Julia Roberts.
It's incredible to think about. Yeah. In this, like it's one thing in the 90s and everything in the early arts for her to stay in, you know, this way.
But in this day and age, where if you did it, they know. I get some cover and everything. Like it's a real, like that's really impressive.
It's impressive as I think she is as a movie actor. And I say that not to me mean, but she's it's well known. She is not a theater actor. No, no.
She's a good movie actor. She is very good. And I would work. I would hire her work with her any of the above. She's still very good at what she's done and aged amazingly.
Yes. It's one of the lucky ones. I think that what's more impressive to me is almost that that she has been able to keep. And it's to say, hey, if there's not the talk about, there's not a talk about.
She might just be a completely, you know, quote, unquote normal person and all that. But even with that, the paparazzi in the way that they are, you think would have tried or have found.

They have got the script written producers are all set. The next step is casting and rinker.com asked its fans their first choice to play Britney Spears. Who would they have? Okay.
I will tell you right now, more than likely, they are going to grab an unknown. They are going to grab somebody unknown somebody was probably maybe a bit of an IMDB page, but nothing stellar, nothing too ordinary.
Like, yeah, maybe experienced and in the business, but not have the big starring role yet, right? You're not going to say Selena Gomez playing her. You're not going to see a big name or something like that.
But, right. I know. I know. Point well taken. Yes. So their top 10 are, do you have any honorable mention? Do you have anybody set? I'm trying to forget this. Not really. You know, I'm trying to think of a young because you got to have someone who's relatively young to play it because Britney started her career, which she was very young.
So you got to find someone who, yeah, so no, I don't really know anyone off top of my head. They don't, they don't give us enough parameters here. Is this a young Britney? Is it the Britney now?
Yeah. Yeah. Because honestly, I thought this was kind of interesting. The first two names I thought of are on this list. Oh, wow. Okay.
L fanning Dakota's younger sister. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. She could pull it off. I think she could do a nice job. Very, very solid actor. But the one I'd love to see in this role is Florence Poo. Oh, she couldn't nail that. She's, she is so good. Yes. She is really talented. She's only getting better and better and better as she goes on. One of the things missing from her resume, serious work or a biopic or something like that. Yeah.
I think of what market robies career, how it was going and it was really good. And she was getting a lot of cred. And then she did the itanya movie and it put her on a whole different level. Right. You know, it's one thing to be able to have box office numbers. It's one thing to be cast by Martin Scorsese. But when you can pull that off in that kind of role when you're the star of the picture. Right.
It's becoming more and more that if you want to be respected as an actor, you got to do the biopic. Like it used to be Shakespeare. Right. It used to be in order to be considered a thespian. You had to have done at least one Shakespeare performance in your career. That's, you know, Billy Crystal showing up in Hamlet. That's those kind of things. Right. So even with an actor like that, you would see that from time to time. Yeah. Billy Crystal. I want to be respected. I'm going to do 10 Kenneth Bragnoss Hamlet. Yeah. Right. That kind of thing.
Now I really do think that it's becoming more and more. You got to play a real person. Like when you can pull that off, even in a bad movie, like people shredded that Elvis movie. Right. And they shredded Tom Hanks' performance in that. But not Austin butlers. No. People raved over Austin butler and put him on a whole different map to where now, you know, he's in tune to and all these things. Right. Right. Right. Right. That is slowly more and more becoming that what you have to do, which is why I'm trying to put a go fund me together to play Frank Zappa.
I think actually like you could you could play actually there's a couple of roles that I think James would be good for you. Really. That's the only one I ever thought. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, dude. You would make an awesome Lou Reed.
You would make it awesome. I could see that you could pull off Lou Reed. Yeah. That'd be an honor. That'd be awesome. No, I would read. I mean, yeah, playing either one of those guys to be an honor. And I never thought about that. But you may actually know that I might be able to do that. Yeah.
I was able to portray Nikola Tesla. And that was that was really meaningful and that that hit a lot. But like doing that kind of work is becoming more and more. They're looking through your IMDB page. They're looking through your resume.
Okay, this is nice. This is nice. Oh, you played Nikola Tesla. Yeah. And oh, let me tell me about that. Talk about that with me. Casting directors are hitting on that even more now. It's the ability to transform into someone that that is unknown quantity. You know, anyone can play
you know, like Joe Schmoh, right? Someone who no one knows anything about. But you get someone like recently, let's let's look at Oppenheimer. Yeah.
People knew who Robert Oppenheimer was. Lots of pictures of him. He had a very famous career, you know, that thing. And how does he pull it off? How does he embody that character?
You know, and that's I think you're what you're saying has a lot of merit to it because it's like that shows you, you know, wow, how you look at how far they deep they got into it kind of thing. And I'm not talking about method or anything. Just like getting into the character in terms of finding something that they could really bring out.
Oppenheimer features two of the greatest biographical performances we'll ever see. And obviously in silly and Murphy playing JD Oppenheimer.
To the point where even when Oppenheimer, like you watch him in interviews in the way he sat his posture, like that silly and Murphy did that. Like it's incredible.
It's only matched by Robert Downey Jr's performance. Right. And the way he played that senator just incredible, incredible work to what you to the point of what you're saying.
So the actors that they're looking at the play Britney Sabrina Carpenter is number one on the list that they would like. She was in work it and tall girl girl meets world adventures and babysitting.
I don't know her work very much, but she's a Disney star. Looks like Sydney Sweeney is of course going to show up in the list. She's been on everybody's list of anything.
She's she's a she's a right now. She's kind of on the hot list of of top of roles kind of thing.
Deservingly so I don't want to sound like I don't think she deserves it. She's in Euphoria. Right. One of the roles.
Yeah. Florence Poo shows up on this list, which is great to see. And I do think would be a good one. Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things.
That would be a little more of a left-feel thing, but I don't think she couldn't do it.
No, Chloe Grace Moretz is on here now fanning. I mentioned Grace Vandeen Haley Steinfield Steinfield. Oh, wow. I really like her. I like her. She's a good job. Yeah.
You got to dye your hair. Of course, Brittany, dye her hair too. But anyway, I can't believe I'm saying this, but only because of the the age difference.
Margaret Robe showing up here. A great a nice choice, but I think a little too old for the role in depending on where they go with Brittany.
And it depends on how much they're going to use the de aging technology, which I suppose they could do, but that seems like an awful lot to have someone, you know, who is a little bit older, like like Margot Robbie.
Yeah. Anna Taylor Joy is on this list, along with Elizabeth Olson on the list. And Elizabeth Olson, I thought it was an interesting choice.
That would be very interesting. Wow. Similar to Margaret Robe. I don't know age wise if it works out, but both, that's not Margaret Robe and Elizabeth Olson could do anything.
Like anything. They're good enough to do that. If you told me Margaret Robe is starring in an Einstein movie, a biopic, I'd believe it. I would. I think they're that good of actors.
What was the top name again on that one? It was Sabrina Carpenter.
Okay. Can you pull up her? Do you have a picture of her? I'm just curious. I think I know who that is, but I don't off the top right here.
Yep. That's who I thought it was. Yeah. She is. She was really good on girl meets world. She played the friend of the main character, basically. I think she was very good. I think she could pull it off.
Interesting to see. Definitely curious about that one. Plus Britney's connection to Disney and the new Mickey Mouse clubs kind of thing. Yeah, maybe something there.
Taking a look at what's new on your small screen tonight. Olympic highlights, Kevin Hart and Keene Thompson on it. Six on peacock, prime time Olympic coverage, seven o'clock on NBC.
Today's events include the men's 110 hurdles, the woman's pole vault and the semi finals for the men's 400 hurdles and springboard diving.
Oh, man, I have trouble watching the hurdles. Yeah, I'm always so worried someone's going to trip and say, ah, it's a tough one. That's a tight one.
I used to I don't do this anymore, but I when I used to watch the summer Olympics and the hurdles, I always felt like I had my hand in front of my face.
Like I was so worried about the fault that they're all like smashing their face.
Who wants to be a millionaire reboot is on an eight on ABC watch what happens live is on Bravo at nine and the series premiere of Dance Moms, a new era on Hulu.
Dear God. Yes, let's encourage parents living vicariously through their kids with TV shows now that they can do that with. That's even worse.
Anyway, because we didn't learn anything from the whole sweet 16 shows or the pregnant teen mom shows or anything like that. We apparently have not learned anything.

I have mentioned before my favorite queen song easily. That's right. By far and away my favorite queen song.
And I bring it up for a reason, not just because I wanted to play some music.
Real quick. I got to mention them doing it live at Live Aid.
Oh, yes. That is one of the most amazing live performances that Freddie ever did.
It's, I mean, that's why it's my favorite song.
Oh, my God. Is that performance? I saw that as a little kid. I didn't know the song. I didn't know the video before seeing that.
My dad was a queen guy, but didn't like have a ton of their music.
And that I saw that in Live Aid. And just as a little kid fell in love with that song and Freddie Mercury's performance is showmanship.
Oh, my God. I've never seen anyone work an audience like he did at that thing. It was amazing to watch.
I heard in the interview once Freddie Mercury talking about sitting back with Elton John and a couple of other singers like David Bowie and then they're all in the same room talking.
And I think it was Elton that said, boy, we have the perfect singer right here in this room.
We take Freddie's lips and we take this in this and like all these pieces to make the perfect singer and the perfect.
The only thing I would qualify love with with Sir Elton John about is if you're going to take something from Freddie, it's the MC work.
Yes. You can make the argument. Nobody has moved a crowd like Freddie Mercury does.
I can't think of anybody off the top of my head that matches what he was able to do as a showman.
Singing wise, obviously in a legendary singer, so many other things, but his showmanship, a far above anything we've ever seen, really.
I mean, I don't care who you're talking about, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, anybody. Nobody could do what Freddie Mercury did.
So I play the radio guy go for a reason though, because science figured out the perfect kid song and no, it is not maybe he's shocked.
Oh, God, thank goodness. Finally, science has come through once again.
I could have played that, but I would this way. Thank you for not doing it. And I did, because in part, it's radio Gaga by Queen.
They believe that is the perfect kid song.
It's just radio Gaga. Queens, we will rock you and single ladies by Beyoncé did not fit the bill.
Music psychology professor from the UK created the formula for the best children's song and it's basically this.
It should be 60 to 120 beats per minute, with quote marching or swaying rhythm and repetitive rhyming lyrics.
Okay.
It should also be in major key.
Makes sense.
And so you get a song like this.

So I, and I think it's all about the reframe.
Yeah, it's got to be all about the reframe is because there's a little baby talking there as well.

So not only that I think that they're right about this, but I actually I have evidence of this.
Oh, I played this for my kids.

They didn't make sense.
They didn't listen to half of the song, but as soon as the reframe came on.
Oh, they just love that part.
They love jumping around and singing to it and just dancing around and everything.
It really is kind of a kid song.
Even though the meaning behind it and the, I don't know if it's necessarily a kids level.

They don't have to, you know, kids aren't going to get it anyway.
Well, yeah, the things that kids, I mean, we can get into nursery rhymes.
If we want to talk about things that kids don't understand that we're singing to them.

The darkest thing, the music, the darkest music we heard as kids was nursery rhymes.

And my father played black Sabbath.
They're all in like minor keys.
Every single one.
Every single one.
Name me a kid's nursery rhyme that doesn't have some doom and gloomy.
A bunch of bridges falling down.
That's the worst one of them all.
So my youngest isabel.
I have yet to come across a child that could play a game longer than she could.
Wow.
We played peekaboo when she was like one and a half two years old for half an hour.
Oh my gosh.
Straight.
No break.
No nothing.
Just straight up peekaboo.
And every time, man, she just get all excited and freak out and everything.
There was that game and there was London bridges.
Okay.
Is he loved that game?
Now all she liked about it was the falling down.
Of course.
Falling down, yep.
So we played.
I counted this.
I lost track at 74.
Oh no.

Oh gosh.
And the last 40 are just, and I'm never falling down.

It was just, it was just getting to that point.
Getting into the position you can fall down, right?
And we had a kid, man, every single time she laughed every time.

It was finally towards the end where she got tired and we finally just finally wore out.
It was finally laid on the grass there, looked up at the sky for a minute.
But I bring it all this up because the kids songs and having kids songs and singing with your kids and all that is such a part of parenting and childhood and all that.
But it's also, we don't just have to do kids music.
Right.
And this is somewhat embarrassing.
But I got to bring it up because I'm like, man, your family listened to like Queen and Black Sabbath.
And you know, it's showing, you don't understand that stuff.
I think for me it was neat.
Right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like me and my cousins, we'd had a dance that we did with like Crackle and Rosie.
Which is about booze, by the way.
Yeah.
But we had this like thing.
We'd dance in a circle and all these kinds of things we didn't know what it was about, of course.
But still, totally what you're talking about.
That it's a regular pop song, but kids still enjoyed it.
I used to love us.
I couldn't not sing, but love doing Dean Martin impressions from a Nanoma.
And it was always.
That's the more.
We're the more.
And you know, just a really bad little kid version of it.
Right.
I had no idea I was playing a drunk person.
Of course not.
I had no idea what half of the song was about or anything.
But they're like, they're lighting up everything.
They love it.
They love that.
That's really what it comes down to is it's not so much the lyrics or any of these things.
How are you when you're singing the songs?
How are you with them?
I am a big Carol King fan.
I don't have any of your music in my playlist.
But I could tell you anything you want to know about Carol King because of my mother and her being such a big fan.
And how excited she would be when those songs would come on.
And to this day, they make me smile.
It's such a note to parents out there.
Yes.
And I think too, one of the things that I thought was interesting is how it can be such a call back when your kids get older and the older they get.
Yeah.
And bringing these things back up.
And it's such a fun moment of kind of, you know, being with being a kid with your kid.
Exactly.

Some of the best memories too.
Truly are.

And this was when I was a little bit older just because of how a lot it was.
But my dad had a stereo setup in our, we had like a down in the basement.

And that's where my dad's stereo was.
And he had a pretty nice layout there, you know, with the big speakers.
So we would play Boston's third stage.
So they're like the third track on that is like a takeoff, the sound of like a rocket, like a shuttle taking off.
And my dad would do it so the whole thing was rumbling.
While we were listening to Bruno, kind of thing.
I remember, I was like, oh, that's so cool, you know?
Literally some of my first member, that is very cool.
Yes, awesome.
Your dad just gets cooler every time you talk about him.
With my dad, he had these speakers.
And then my dad always had to have huge speakers.
And no matter how many times we moved and how many things we'd lose, we never lost those speakers.

I remember like how big they were.
And my dad like turning up the music.
So then I would like bounce around him and everything.
I got admit though, and I don't think this happens very often Seth, but I'm actually a little disappointed.
I've tried to tee you up a couple of times and it has not happened.

And now I'm beginning to think that you have not done this with your children.

You have the literal perfect band to play music for your kids in your playlist in your favorite band.

And they might be giants.

And it's not just because they did several children's albums as well, which they love as well.

I've played enough of the regular stuff.
So absolutely.

It's still good stuff for kids.
I mean, they still love it.

He said his favorite version of particle man was like a third grade, a third grade class

The last time I was in an airport, I was starving and I bop it around and I run into a sparrows.
And I was like, I haven't seen a sparrows since I was a kid.
I couldn't wait.
I was so excited.
I love those foods.
Those pieces of them.
It's interesting how they transitioned into that world.
I've like out some of the big airports have kind of a local flavor now.
Yeah.
Where you get some like local stuff.
I remember last time I was in Chicago.
They had a Billy Gold tavern place.
Yeah.
I was like, really?
Wow.
You can get more much more Chicago than that.
And you're so right.
And it makes a big sense.
Especially as we're trying to get people to go fly more often and everything.

His lost.
His lost wallet on Sunday.

When he got robbed in broad daylight by a seagull.
What?
He was loading bags into his car at the grocery store and set his wallet down on his shopping cart.
And the gall swooped in, snagged the wallet and took off.
He says his first thought was, I want my wallet back.
His second thought was, I probably look like an idiot chasing a flag bird around a parking lot trying to get this thing back.
He chased it across the lot over a fence and onto a roof of a car.
A wash again next door before he finally gave up.
Wow.
There's a video of it on the roof shaking the cash out.
The bird.
Yeah.
Shaking the cash out.
Then it picks the wallet back up and its beak and flies off.
Obviously the bird didn't eat the wallet.
Probably just dropped it somewhere or maybe used it in its nest.
Yeah.
Maybe, yeah.
I don't know if we can do that or anything.
But pick pocket seagulls is what we have to worry about now.
Was the seagull wearing a little mask?
No, yeah.
That's what I want to know.
You can pick them out of the line.
Oh, was that seagulls?
It was that one.
It was so guilty.
It was number three.
Look at the look on his face.
I think the seagull was a little disappointed.
There wasn't more cash.
Or something to eat because they're looking for.
I really like the idea.
His first thoughts of I want my wallet back or I probably look like a fool running around chasing this bird.
That wouldn't be my first thought.
I would not be able to be past the idea of looking around.
Did anybody else see that just happen?
A seagull just came out of nowhere and grabbed my wallet.
Not like I have a wallet that looks like a salmon.
Yeah.
Why my wallet?
Why have all these things happened?
No chum here, man.
Yeah.
What is going on?
That's what I get for wearing chum as cologne.
Oh, I see.
A lot more seagulls around you than if you did wear that.
That ain't right, man.
I don't know how many people have had to do this before but there's been times where I've had to get a new ID or some of that.
And oftentimes they ask why you need a new ID.
Nobody's going to believe this poor guy.
Well, a seagull stole my wallet.
Why, it stopped.
No, seriously.
Nobody's buying it.
Nobody.
Why do we not footage of this?
Why did someone pull out their camera?
That's a good question.
I want to know.
I'd like to know too.
I do want to get to a palli cleanser here and we got some good stuff to get to while we're at it.
So first up, I did want to mention that Wisconsin's fall primary is August 13th right around the corner.
Make a plan to be a voter in every election from local to state matters and be sure to be informed to get out there and help democracy ring.
Get out there and vote, everybody.
Also keep in mind that we are one day away from the upcoming deadline for a request of an absentee ballot for a regular and permanent overseas voters, which is many of our military in that.
And of course August 9th is a deadline to register in your municipal clerk's office.
Yep.
Keep that in mind as well.
And you can learn more and learn about all this.
Find out if you're a registered voter.
Just double check.
Took me five seconds.
Not even five seconds.
Yeah, they did just to make sure.
Yep.
And find out where my polling place was and everything.
So keep all of that in mind along with the fact that we have the power.
We have the power not only to be a good not only to get out there and vote not only to be an informed voter, but to treat each other with grace.
Please, I encourage you to treat your poll workers well.
We've got so many of our communities greatest out there volunteering, giving up their time just to be there and help democracy keep rolling.
We under, we, we, we, we, we normalize this way too much.
So many people dedicating hours and hours of their day just to volunteers volunteers.
Let's not, let's, let's, there's always accountability and I certainly understand that and I understand the world that we live in right now.
These people are volunteers.
Yep.
They are part of the biggest reason that democracy keeps moving forward.
Let's treat them.
Let's treat each other right.
Right.
And let's have a little class with these elections.
Let's show them how it's done here in Wisconsin.

And that's where you will put all the books you need to.
We clean that out just about every day.
So there's always space.
There's always room for you to put your books in there.

And remember all the proceeds go to scholarships for mid-state.

Disneyland honored a ticket for free admission that a guy got in 1985 and saved for 39 years.

He recorded his 18-year-old daughter using it to get in.
The guy at the ticket booth had to call his boss over to make sure it was legit.
The dad won the free pass while visiting Disneyland for the 30th anniversary on August 28th, 1985.
Oh, wow.
He put it in a scrapbook and forgot about it until his daughter said she wanted to go and mentioned how expensive tickets were.

Two cops in South Texas rescued a cat last Thursday after it managed to get a jar stuck on its head.
And there's some amazing funny chess cam footage of the whole thing.
They got the jar off and they got it to a vet.
They knicked in and jar jar.

A mom in North Carolina posted a montage of her young son freaking out every time his grandpa comes to visit.

There is a moment also that's very similar from the Olympics when Katie Ladecki comes out of the water.
And this young fan happens to be kind of in the middle of the seats.
And it's just locked up where they see each other.
And you could tell this young girl that Katie's her hero.
And Katie sees her in waves tour.
And it's like the Beatles.
Like this little girl just freaks out and she fates.
Oh no!
She doesn't fall completely over but she like do the whole like falling under butt and falling over there.
It's such a beautiful mom.
It's my favorite moment of the Olympics right now.
