Good morning, Wisconsin. Good morning, world. It's a new day. Thanks for kicking
it off with us right here at WFHR, locally grown radio. Terry and James hanging out with you.
Thanks so much for joining us, everybody. Good things in store for you right up to the 10
o'clock hour. We're going to get into some fun entertainment news in a moment. A little
bit later, Terry and I are going to get in the country life. What state is the most like a country
song? I look forward to that. That's going to be a fun one. I got some other good ones too. As
far as the 20 greatest Olympic movies, maybe we're going to that one if we have time. We'll see.
And we've got this one about snacks, Terry. We got to get into two. Hey, where's that? I have that
around or somewhere. No, I can't. Oh, yeah. The average American, how many snacks we eat a day.
We got to get into that too. And of course, we're going to talk some local stuff going on in our
community, wrap up with the little United Way talk and talking some good stories of the day.
But we dive into entertainment news to kick things off. And I don't know. I think this is an
entertainment story. Maybe I'll admit that I might be shoehorning it in a little bit. But I do
think it's very important. And there's a reason why to talk about it. The attorney general of
Washington DC sued sued stub hub on Wednesday, accusing the ticket resale platform of advertising
deceptively low prices and then ramping up prices with extra fees. The practice known as drip
pricing violates consumer protection laws in the nation's capital attorney general Brian Shobb
said the company said it's disappointed to be targeted maintaining its practices are consistent
with the law and competing competing companies. They were not able to be reached for comment
from the AP shout out to the Associated Press and the nice work they did on this article. You
can find the entire article at ap.news.com AP news.com. This is becoming more and more of a story
and becoming more and more of an issue for people. And the people that are truly suffering are the
fans and the artists. The businesses are still making their money. I should mention venues too.
Venues are getting squeezed in these as well. There are so many things and so many pieces that
have to fall into line just to get an act to your town. The scheduling, the working with the
venue, the crater, you know, all these different things that it takes to make this happen.
And I am not against a business making a profit. That's America. That's what we do. But you can't
cheat and you can't enop a lot. I don't know if you've tried to get tickets for anything recently
but literally if you say the ticket is a hundred bucks then have it be a hundred bucks.
By the time all the fees get added and you get to the end it comes out to a hundred and 58 bucks
a ticket. Just tell me that up front. I'd rather see the all in price. You know when you're searching
let's just say you're able to search an arena and pick which seats. I'd rather see the all in price
and I get that there's fees and that kind of stuff associated with this stuff. But when you select
a seat that's a hundred bucks and then it's you know a 50% markup on top of that it's just very
irritating. I have waited since I was a I think a sophomore in high school to see living color.
It's my favorite band. I've never seen them live. They're going to be actually playing here nearby
and they're going to be in Illinois and Wisconsin a little bit and I've been looking at tickets and
I've been thinking about this and everything and then I look at the tickets and I'm like I actually
have a decent paycheck these days and I still don't think I get afford that and that's before.
I was going to say but that's not even you got to put it in your cart and get to the go to the
checkout and then you see your price doubles. So that's rough enough and then to think that they
are adding on more and more like okay so say you're comfortable with spending 50 bucks a hundred
bucks on a ticket but like you said that's where the line is for you and then with these add-ons
and everything that they're doing because that's how they're trying to get around a lot of these
things and it's easy to say we're just sticking to the numbers or we're just keeping up with other
businesses when there's only like two businesses doing this that's that's real easy to do.
It's not competitive enough. We don't have enough businesses doing this and we don't have
enough room for for our business to get into this market as well. It is a very similar issue
what's going on with our movie theaters. We talk a lot about getting people to the movies more.
We talk a lot about wanting to get more and more people to what do we do to get people to movie
theaters? What do we do? What do we do? Let's get some more companies owning movie theaters.
Let's get some more variety out there. We've gotten if not a monopoly way too close to a monopoly
that anybody should be comfortable with and it's happened under our nose. It's gone on just like
with StubHub and some of these things under our nose without us knowing and here we are as the
consumer finding out way late in the game. Wait a minute that's pretty much a monopoly they got
going on like that ain't supposed to happen in our country. We're supposed to be fighting against
those things. It's just really yeah it's very frustrating. And then what do you do? Oh well I'm
not going to buy tickets. Okay so they are going to keep going just fine but the artist the venue
you as a fan you suffer. So there is such a win-win for them and such a lose-lose for us
because how many artists are worth the hundred bucks to see? Like genuinely and I'm not I'm saying
that as a creative. I'm saying that as an artist myself. I don't know any of the I don't there is
no way you can convince me even Taylor Swift is worth a hundred dollars to go see. Like that's
incredible and that's not even all you're paying. You're paying parking you're paying these add-on
fees all this stuff and everything. Who can afford that? I look at these concerts and I see the
numbers for some of them and I'm like well there's a person in debt. There's a family in debt.
There's a family in debt. Like the things that they must be doing to be able to afford this.
It's insane to me. It is you know and the other thing like I said before like if you're searching
on their map you know to pick seats you have to go all the way to the cart and not to the cart
to the checkout to be able to see what it is you know and then you have to let release those seats
and then pick different seats whereas if they were just upfront you know what you're but what
you're spending limit is right you know like I just yeah I think it's crazy. The money is up there
enough to where you can be upfront with these things I think and still make a profit. I'm guessing
that stub hub isn't going out of business anytime soon. You know kind of the new big thing with
current artists too is that you have to be like a fan a pre-fan of theirs and then you get a code
to be able to buy tickets but the first people that get to buy tickets so let's say someone's
playing at American Family Field Friday on Saturday you have to buy tickets for both nights first
that's who gets first if if you buy for both and then it releases like the next day for people
you know like which fine as long as you know what that is upfront right but this whole like
hidden fee thing it just is but it is crazy the the way that people are I bet I guess people are
doing it they're paying it I don't know yeah I don't know how much longer that's gonna last either
though you know they've been lucky to see that as it is we'll see you yeah I've heard a lot of
people say how Taylor Swift has saved the music and like going to see concerts how she has saved
even the movie industry in some ways with her eras tour and stuff I don't disagree with those things
but eventually she's gonna stop touring eventually she's gonna take a break and you know to make
a new album or something like that like what are we gonna do then you you've got to address these
things if not before then now like now we should have done this yesterday this is something that we
have to get on and again the only people truly suffering are the fans and the artists the
stuff is doing just fine I want to mention something before our next story and and I
mention this journalistically just and also just because I think it's a cool a unique story that
ties into our current story I mentioned my before many times my father and I are knuckleheads we
come from the other side of the tracks and our first half of our lives were much different than
the second half here my father in particular my father struggled with addiction his whole life
and it has only been in the last 20 some years that he really turned it around and his story is
gonna end very differently than it would have previously in one of the more unique things that
has happened with my father is something that came about during midday magazine when I was
inherited that show from Carl and still do the show as Carl would and treat the show as if it
is Carl's I always will I inherited also guests that were used to Carl and all of those guests
every single one of them took me in and treated me well and everything but some stood out more
than others you Terry as one of them certainly and Sheriff Sean Becker and and Sean and I have a
previous relationship will say Sean was familiar with my family before it coming into for interviews
and everything like that and now in 2024 and even more than that and I would say the third or
fourth time I interviewed him it just randomly came up he asked how my dad was doing and I told him
and stuff and he said well tell him high for me and somehow it came up that my dad loves to collect
cards and Sean just lit up and became like a 13 year old kid and was like my collect cards too
and so I told my dad this and my dad's like oh Jimmy you got to find out whose favorite
player is what are the teams he likes and he goes searching for his cards and he finds a card to
give to him the next time I have Sean in Sean has a card for my dad cool and ever since then almost
every single time that he comes in I'm giving him a card for my dad and he's giving me a card for
my dad and all that we're trading cards and everything it's very unique and also I have yet to get
used to it like it is still mind blowing to me where my family is and where we used to be like
you never would have predicted right but to a point where maybe you don't care about that but I
bet you care about the fact that I'm a darn good taxpayer now and my father is and we're put back
into this community and we're doing good in this community both of us are and and we're not the
only ones there are so many people that come from that world that are looking to make a better
world and jelly roll is one of them and and jelly rolls life is going to be put into a movie at some
point oh and just I just feel bad that we don't have John candy to play him I would love to see
that luckily we get snippets of it in his songs and different things before the movie comes out
now if this ain't a full circle moment I don't know what is jelly roll the ex convict is now jelly
roll the deputy sheriff he was sworn in with oath of office by an officer in Michigan named
sheriff swanson who said this is the real deal you walk into any facility you get to tell them
you're a deputy in genocide county and when jelly roll was presented with his badge in the
official sheriff ID he had only one thing to say from convict to deputy and I think he's got a new
song there by the way I think that's going to be a song and and jelly has been working closely with
sheriff swanson for some time supporting their ignite program this is a program that encourage
around the whole country this program exists then encourages inmates to get their gd while they're
incarcerated so they can come out of jail and start contributing to society and being a taxpayer
come out with a plan right like come out with not okay so now I'm out of here what do I do but
here's what I'm going to do right the biggest change one of the biggest changes our community has
seen has happened when sheriff becker took over and one of the things Sean approached this job
differently than most do and all of his team do is we want to stop this revolving door and how do
we stop it you don't do it with higher bail bonds you don't do it with well you did this thing
wrong put him away for life never let him be free again ask them why did you steal the bread
why did you do this how can we keep you from doing this again okay you need a job let's get you a gd
so you can get a job so you don't have to steal bread let's actually talk to people and figure
things out and and all the sudden sure enough you're seeing those numbers change you're seeing
differences and there are some really great reentry coaches you know that are coming in and saying
hey the community believes in you right like you yes you do have some hoops to jump through get
your gd do this have a plan you know have a reentry plan for when you're done here but it is I
agree with you I mean that's that comes from great leadership yes yes and and whether it is a
a current convict or it is somebody like my father that has been long past that or anything I don't
know any inmate or any person that doesn't believe in accountability I'm not at all saying that
they'll slap on the wrist a little back up absolutely you have to account for your your your
things that you did you have to but you don't have to do it again yeah and you don't have to yeah
and you shouldn't have to do it in the job interview you shouldn't have to do it in with with
other people in society society already took care of that I paid my debt you don't get to put
that on me you don't get to judge me on that any more than I get to judge you on your worst day
in your life and and it's incredible to see that we're at this point and we're seeing this change
happening I doubt anybody saw it because of the way our news coverage is nowadays but the FCC
just made a gigantic move yesterday it was announced that they have cut the cost of what it
costs for an inmate to make phone calls when my father was in it was like 11 15 bucks for every 20
minutes or half an hour or whatever it's 99 cents now they're predicting this is going to save
families close to five hundred million dollars just this year that's incredible it should have
been done a long time ago but that's incredible right now is what matters and that is just incredible
it is not oh we're making things easier on inmates no they are not well we're catching up with technology
right I mean because now if you're in a place that's Wi-Fi enabled yeah you know your phone is
probably using Wi-Fi to make a call so it's like staying caught up to the benefit of all in society
right even those who are who are experiencing some kind of hardship or struggle yeah I think
that's amazing this program the ignite program is already helped the tons of people getting their
GED and that and while jelly was up in Michigan he also cut the ribbon on the jelly roll music studio
in Genesee County in Flint this is in addition to the other things this is going to give inmates an
opportunity to have a creative outlet and also maybe find a different path a different way out
so many people they think I mean I was this kid I know this and I know what it was like
I didn't see it I saw a ceiling when I was a kid I didn't think I was going to make a past 22
and I thought my life is on this side of the tracks so I better make good at it I got to be good
at this because I got bills I have a rent to pay in all these different things I didn't think there
was any other way giving people just a little bit of light to see that there is a crack in that wall
you can make it through is all some people need not everybody of course statistically that's not
going to happen but if the amount of people this could affect like he's a good musician he's
done some cool work this there's nothing bigger that he can do than these kind of things absolutely
and he's using his music as his outlet to share this that's you know that's the other thing he's
using his talent for the good of of all and you know it'd be amazing if if more did that but but
but we also just need to give him credit right because I think what you just said is you know we
we we can't always save a hundred thousand people at once but we can save a hundred thousand people
one at a time yeah and so you know that's part of part of what he's doing there and and what he's
sharing and I think that that's really cool the other thing is just knowing we got to take a
second you worded that perfectly Terry though well you know we know what we know right and so like
you're saying as a as a kid or a youth you were like hey this is how it's going to be for me but
you know I was reading something recently and and it was interesting because it was someone who
who broke out of that cycle right of generational poverty and generational addiction and that kind
of thing and he referenced it as how many people how many trusted adults had their thumb on his
scale meaning you know they they impacted him in a way that tipped the scale for him and any kind
of names those people you know and this person had their thumb on my scale and here's what they did
and this person did and this person did and and this person's individual's mother was an addict a
lifelong addict and still is an addict and and he's very open about that but saying he can have
empathy for his mother and help her to a point that's healthy for him and she chooses to live
that lifestyle and he has to work through that but thinking about all the other people that
had a thumb on his scale to get him to a different place so it is you know it is quite remarkable
especially when you think about childhood traumas and how that impacts so so for jelly roll to be
you know investing in this way um is awesome yeah yeah thank you mr. roll or is it uh mr. jelly
or is i looking at what's new on your small screen tonight i don't know if you want to be mr. roll
yeah i don't know yeah i don't know uh do you care well you know with Pam can we get him on midday
if he is i'll call host with you but i mean if you're him do you care no no you don't no especially
the like not many people are enjoying life more than him he is really a joy life right now
looking what's new on your small screen tonight Olympic highlights with Kevin Hart and Keenan
Thompson at six on peacock prime time Olympic coverage begins at seven on NBC uh they do a nice
job with that Mike Trico in the game uh doing a nice job with those and if you look over something
different who wants to be a millionaire uh reboot is on at seven on ABC they're having more of
celebrities on there now and this is interesting Terry i didn't even know this was still going on
the fourth season premiere of unsolved mysteries is on Netflix starting today i didn't even know
they still had unsolved mysteries i didn't know that that's interesting uh right now i
always curious about those though i mean i'll watch that if i'm flipping through sometimes i
got to admit uh i like uh creditor the show and Robert stack and and the old show and everything
my not a poppy used to love it it drove me crazy i like the stories where i find out where the bad
guy gets it at the end you know you know i for me i think i can watch them because they're not like
too creepy because i'm kind of a worst but the one thing i don't like is it's an hour long show
and there's so much repeating like you can get the gist of it in 20 minutes but that's also just
the nature of of the show very true our rafters are back in action tonight and they are riding a hot
streak right now rafters victorious last night over the wood chucks uh nine to four great game by
the boys uh nice job by Jeremy Brooks uh uh doing that one as well a couple of great play performances
in that one and we're back in action tonight of course home uh for this Thursday uh for this um
yeah Wednesday game hosting wasa and whatever day it is i did to double check and it is
you know and it's not my fault completely because the rafters are doing something different
we're talking christmas in july i mean it's christmas in july at the ballpark tonight everybody

terry and james hanging out with you i remember i always love the sock man it was good sock
was good sock we got some fun stuff to get into before we get to our news break um i should
mention again journalistically that terry and i are grazers we are snackers we are people
they'd like to eat throughout the day like that uh one of the early things we found out we had in
common which uh is a small is a short list but we uh it is one of those things that we do have a
common and i i was so actually the way you put grazing i've been using that ever since you said
that because that is i very very much feel like it feels like that's a good way of putting it well
the key to dieting unsuccessfully is uh can can convince you uh forgetting about what you're
eating the day the from day to day that's what a lot of dietitians will actually tell you while
also keeping track of what you're using so i don't know or eating i don't know um but there's
a new report out on snacking and i found that the average person skips three meals a week
the average person also eats three snacks every day with chips and fruit being the most popular
choices crackers were next followed by cookies and ice cream only 25 percent of people say that
they're very aware of their daily nutritional value of protein um their snacks offer so very
or little to none you know is what they're talking about one problem is that people may choose
some healthy meals initially but they don't account for everything they put in their mouth
grazing wise yes in the middle the average person can only remember 57 percent of everything they
ate over just the last three days and and that's i it's kind of like when you first hear that
okay one more time the average person can only remember 57 percent of everything they ate
over the last three days i hear that and i see it even a second time and i kind of like that
don't seem right i think i i know what i ate in the last three days i feel like i do but then again
somebody asked me what'd you do yesterday and and i'm like it takes me a second like i don't just
get like replay it like yeah what did i do oh yeah yeah yeah and so i i guess i could see this a
little bit uh especially with the way so many of us eat um and especially those working how many
people take a true lunch break anymore you know how many people aren't working during their lunch break
or oh yeah i'm gonna eat some chips because i got work to do and i got to catch up on that during
my work break uh how many of us take time at the end of the day to make a meal like especially
those of us that live alone or anything like that like it's tough i think about well i could make
myself some french toast that sounds really good right now oh there's cereal i'm just gonna eat cereal
like yeah and we do that and we do that and we do that and it's i'm not pointing to finger at
anybody i think we're all just trying to get by we're all beat at the end of the day it's not as easy
as it might seem to make a meal hopefully this gives you a little bit of a bit of respect to your
parents who were able to do this all the time and and it's a little tougher on some of us to
realize how how did how my mother and father did that working 45 hours a week doing the laundry
doing all these other things and still coming up with meal plans and stuff like it's amazing
when you think about what parents do i always kind of laugh because of both of our kids are
gonna be gone i'll be like you're on your own for supper yeah whatever's in the fridge i mean
and we there's leftovers i'm not saying there's like no food but it's always got a funny because
then sometimes i'll just or i i don't i i always take i do take a lunch break like i'll eat
something at lunchtime but but not always like a whole meal because then i find and it seems
like the older i get like then i find i'm not really hungry at supper time or i'll just have a
little something so i've been i feel like in the last couple years like my portions of meals have
you know dropped yeah yeah uh and i i i think that you're not alone in that i think there's a lot
of people that can relate to that out there part of talking about this stuff is not to shame
anybody or make anybody feel bad it's make you more aware of it and and let you know that you're
not alone in this that there's thousands of people also doing the same thing and you can take
control of this you can you can make things uh your diet better if you'd like but you know there is
one thing though like if we if we have friends over something let's say if it's a nice like if
today was a Saturday and it was as hot we might have some friends over to the pool or something
but i'll always be like bring snacks you know then i'll just put that all out on the island on ice
and then i just i like i would much rather do that than have a meal you don't like just just pick
snacks as you're hungry one you're hungry and kind of do that grazing thing all day
it is um a noteworthy that if you are uh honey trying to lose weight or some of these things um to
incorporate those grazing those snacks in with the your whole diet uh it sounds like that
doesn't happen nearly it's just be thinking about what those items are right i mean chips and dip
maybe isn't a great choice i i mean i like i'm i'm just saying but sometimes it's not the best choice
i can't imagine my life without cookies um i just can't i can't right but so but so you know that
so then eat the cookie don't eat all this other garbage right because you're not just gonna
eat carrot sticks instead of the cookie yeah you're gonna eat you're gonna eat i mean like you're
gonna sub something else for the cookie so you while you should eat a dozen cookies but i mean
eat the cookie yeah and and i think that don't eat 40 cookies yes you you give yourself some grace
while also understanding that you know there is a line in the sand and you if you really want this
you've got to work for i mean i'm a crazy baker but you know what my 40 cookie is orios those darn
things so amazing they have to be the double stuff and they can't be weird flavors or colors
just like none of this orange greek whatever but i i can only buy them if we're you know doing
something going somewhere kids are having friends over because i will i will literally eat a whole
row that is disgusting uh i can do that with certain cookies uh those are one of them for me that's
the only one you know i i go through like like like routines with cookies you know the weirdest one i
have been into for like a year now does anybody remember those wind meal cookies oh really
they're like not the ones with the real almonds in them but i'm talking like they just had the
flavor of almond in them uh i don't know what it is but i can not get enough of those i don't know
why i don't know where it came from that and this one i know where it came from my papa never
was snacking guy but he always had a box of an yellow wafers and i've been eating more of those
like remember the old wafers cookies there was chocolate white and strawberry those were a treat for
yeah yeah Pam hey how you doing what do you got Pam we never lose pinwheel cookies that you
were talking about and i think sometimes i had peanuts in oh yeah yeah because i have a peanut
allergy i had to be so careful and one time i snitched one when i was at my mom she was
laying on it all oh my gosh i think there was a peanut in this cookie that i just
started all alone uh uh uh uh uh uh then you had to fess up you were in the cookies
yeah as our face is swelling
ah so what were you up to then oh that's a good one didn't share that Pam
yeah that's awesome those are good cookies those are uh and uh animal crackers cookies all right
which one animal crackers or the those frosted circus the frosted ones the frosted ones oh those
are so good oh those are so good pink or white uh you know i mean they come together but yeah
they i like the pink ones uh i don't notice a difference i don't know well you can have the white
ones out of the pink we'll get some we'll get it back and then we'll be back with to do more show

state is the most like a country song the site zippia set out to answer an important question
which state is most country they used for somewhat stereotypical metrics to determine which
states were the most country the states with the highest alcohol consumption the highest
percentage of dog ownership highest percentage of couples and divorce and the lowest population density
so some things that you have heard and popularized in country songs for since the dawn of country
songs very similar to blues the blues is very much like this just add trains right just some reoccurring
themes yeah yeah and with the blues it's all those same topics and just add trains that they
infuri blues trains the delta blue trains I mean there's so many train songs and blues they so
according to the website you are the most country if you are doing all of this in Idaho
Idaho is considered the most country state based on that formula okay I can see that
Nevada at number two new mexico at number three organ at number four Missouri at number five
so an interesting list right there none of the ones I expected on there no no I did not did not
see any of those coming I mean don't you kind of think like Tennessee Kentucky mm-hmm I don't
know that's kind of what I think that's that's that's around where I would go to um and here are
five states that are the least country New York New Jersey Connecticut Illinois Maryland got
a quite a few people in Illinois that would really fight that especially you go south Illinois
and do we think Tennessee is upset to be 20th on the country states in America on this list
I would think they'd have something to say about that also shout out to Idaho for being
space sparsely populated and to their to all the people over there I'm sure that they're very happy
about that but where do some of our local states rank like Michigan is ranked 30th I'm sorry Minnesota
is ranked 30th Michigan is ranked 32 Illinois as I mentioned ranked 44th Wisconsin 29th not bad
yeah not bad Texas 12th okay that which is shocking to not see that in the top five but again the
way that they're doing this it kind of stands out a Florida is at 26 what about like Colorado
Colorado oh good one Colorado is let's see now Van on Colorado is eighth and which one that's
did you say oh I just said Wyoming I was seeing that region yeah yeah Wyoming is let's see six
okay so they're right up there too yeah the Dakota's are seven and ten Kentucky which you
asked about is at number nine so or I'm sorry number five no no no number nine number nine
so it's interesting interesting list just you know I don't know that these these like Idaho
or any of these states are going to be coming out with new country albums and country artists but
every one of these states has a tie to this and I think that it also speaks to why not only country
music but music in general is so relatable and why so many people are getting into certain genres
this happens all the time we've been talking a lot about a lot of newer artists getting into country
music and and there's been a lot of pushback from that there's been a lot of fans of some of that
music too there it goes both ways um I think it was uh Jason Aldin or whoever just did a song
of Post Malone just had their first number one hit and it was because of that that tie in with
Post Malone they also were number one in the pop charts and that's never happened before I don't
know who it was but it wasn't it wouldn't have been Jason Aldin okay has other number ones but I
just I don't know but still I get what you're saying like having that tie in and and what what
that looks like and what it means for their music music I talk about this quite a bit and I think
it's really important that's why I touch on it but I I think that uh like what you like and enjoy
what you like and I have no problem with people you know disliking music but what I have a problem
with is music snobs nobody gets to be the gatekeeper of music like you could say what you want to
want to listen to what you want to like absolutely that's what this is all about you know uh
but dogging somebody else for what they like or or going out of your way yes yes you're not
you you're not listening to those headphones I mean unless you're trapped in the car with them
for hours on end that might be a little bit you have to do a request list might be a little bit
I'm look I'm tough I'm done with the 80s pop could you please stop with it so yeah so how do you
do that like if there's four people in the car for 15 hours do you go song by song by song by song
you know I mean like each person picks or do you each get to like veto one genre oh oh I like
that all veto power I like you don't I mean like you don't get to pick but you can say what you
really dislike I kind of want to go on a road trip now just to use this just to use this formula I
like this uh I wish me to thought of this and when I was a kid growing up and everything
well we couldn't really DJ in the car when we were used no no no so now from when I understand
and this is way out of my league because I obviously haven't had kids in a long time in the car
with me they're they're they're they can like pick the playlist like from the blue tooth from
the phone so like they get you can just connect the phone to the to the you know car system and then
you can you know stream whatever service that you that you want to stream honestly though I would
say probably a lot of kids just if they have them right just pop their earbuds in and they
listen to their own thing um they're you know connected to their phone versus I'm like I listen
to the radio in the car yeah unless I'm listening to a book but that's the same technology right
like it just streams it connects my phone to the car and then I can just they just plays my book
I think that's really cool and I never against uh progress or anything like that and I don't mean
to get on my soapbox with this conversation but that you saying that like just spark something in
my brain that I realized that there are generations of kids growing up without the right of passage
of being embarrassed by their parents music that's disappointing I know I'm telling you you should
have to be driven up to Lincoln high school with your mother playing the lay miss soundtrack at full
blast or the fan by the opera soundtrack or not a thing anymore you need to leave like every kids
need to experience that day get this isn't right this is a that a right story it's not fair you were
dipped there's nothing like your father pulling up playing like blasting some Joe Walsh and like
just like now I don't mind the music but back then I'd heard of the billion times my dad you
don't have to play ordinary guy at at 20 you can calm down with that a little Jimmy people
could love this I want to play it like just turn it down when you pull in and we can turn it back
up when we leave now I know the all the words to the lay miss soundtrack and I have no reason to
I mean certain things like yeah it is a right of passage that's gone that's a shame that ain't right
that's it that's right we're missing out the kids are the parents oh good question good question
I mean you know for kids who had to experience it like this is their opportunity to
pay it forward right now so I think the parents are missing it I think a little call me a little
call me the parents my the kids might miss it too because honestly I look back at those memories
and I I I'm not embarrassed I'm actually proud of my mom no but at the time I mean yeah like
it's honestly I did not get embarrassed by my parents I didn't I it was hard to embarrass me
period back as a kid this did this was one of the few things that did we will take a quick time

like our music now that's true that's true fair I didn't notice that I didn't know that if you had
the opportunity to play some crap and just really embarrass them I mean wouldn't you

my oldest one Curtis these are things that may sometimes be probably listeners to better
music than I do I mean he's old and he's 25 and he likes old school country
and you know and that's an interesting this is interesting to me I didn't I didn't think of
this part of it this side of it Kevin that's interesting that you know but there's some times
that you know there's you know I'll get on my my radio and and I'll book often and if we
do go somewhere I will pull off to a plate made a plane don't worry be happy you know what I'm
yeah yeah yeah cuz you just have to sometimes yeah no you uh I uh I'm that's
much now I that's the topic I want to get into uh the next time we get together or something
what is the music you would play to embarrass your kid that's a great question nicely done you
guys so we all we came up with that well that's a good one Kevin we appreciate your man
do baby shark to him yeah there we go yeah hey you love this when you were three listen I'm not
coming by your car if you plan baby shark I think like aki breaking heart or macarena some of

got good things to get to in a moment we'll get to some local good stuff but I did want to
touch on this interesting story and while it seems like a that ain't right story it also has some
I think insight to it what's in your spam folder right now unless you just deleted the whole thing
it probably has thousands of newsletters or or different marketing junk or or some of those things
a lot of the spam that we've seen over the years but a 50 54 year old woman in Michigan was going
through her spam folder earlier this month and found a strange email saying she had won a lottery
of $207 or $200 2,700 and it seems like an obvious trap but somehow it wasn't it turns out the
woman had been earning big cash second chance drawing entries by playing certain online lottery
games and was and the prize was very legit she said I I don't I didn't know that I was earning
entries so I was confused when I came across an email from the Michigan lottery and my spam
folder after looking into it I figured out it was real the win is so exciting and couldn't have
come at a better time she's been in some struggling times she added that she plans to use her
winnings to pay bills and invest in hopefully not in the the guy in Nigeria or anything but yeah
that's what I was gonna say okay the important takeaway from this is she investigated and found out
don't click on links yes yes when you get those emails and she probably I mean I'm hoping she
contacted the Michigan lottery she did you know what I mean so that's that's a really important
takeaway because there are two million people trying to scam you for every one that is legit I was
almost weary of doing this story because I don't want to encourage people to necessarily do those
things I appreciate what you just said that story of the day I mean this is yeah it is very cool
it's very cool but your point is very needed in this subject the context of this is important
while this happened for her more very happy for her I doesn't mean that it could happen for you
you got to be very careful of those things don't click those links do your homework research these
things before you dive too far in but that is a cool story you're right that is a very good story
and we're happy for very cool I don't know I feel like that's I'm the kind of person I could have
I could like talk to the Michigan lottery I could do although and I still not sure I'm like I'm
still not sure I'll be like meal me a check yes just wait like you know what I mean like I'm not
trusting this until you show me the money in this day and age yes it's awfully hard not to I didn't

and play on that play set it's amazing to I pass it every day it's amazing in non school hours
anyone can use the playground you just can't access it during school good to know good to know
that's probably the only way I would be able to endure what's up but I'd encourage you to

would be awesome um ten thirty or i'm sorry the bus will get there about ten thirty but but
lunch by the river is actually eleven thirty to one but we'll be down there um earlier
and if it is raining um the rain location is the old east junior high building so we will do the
collection tomorrow no matter what because we're moving forward they're not going to change the
start of school for us if it rains so um we need to be ready you know to distribute two kids
in two weeks so um you know just really looking for strong community participation we hope
to see you at lunch by the river that you know the the weather forecast that it turns out different
than than than what's you know what we're predicting but um either way the this the collection will
happen tomorrow and we are looking for as many school supplies as we can possibly pack in those
school buses uh so that we can make sure kids start off on the right foot if your child um
qualifies for free and reduced lunch and you have not yet registered um for them to get school
supplies tomorrow's it so at the end of the day tomorrow the registration form will shut off
so we do encourage you to do that if you have not done it yet you can do that by visiting our website
uwac.org you can also call 211 um between eight and five um today or tomorrow uh to to get some
assistance with that registration and be sure follow united way on social media it's a great way
to keep up the date on everything and also uh what if the if the event will be moved because of

so keeping up to date with the united way and this amazing event that we get to do uh invest in

uh we've seen videos like this a woman surprised her dad and told him he's going to be a grandfather
and then after they cried and hugged it out her sister broke the news that she's also pregnant
and they're three weeks apart to do in December and early January uh I love that if you get a
chance to check the video out it is hilarious it is fun and growing up with cousins like close
in age is amazing it really is it's one of the uh greater things to happen in life when it happens
and you get you know you have that kind of thing uh this was a I love it I was thinking that those
sisters can go through all of that together as well pretty cool that's pretty cool uh a great show
