things off the way we like to around here with a good friend, Brittany Inelone, talking
with a little mother nature. Brittany, how's it going over at the EAA? Oh, it's beautiful.
I can't ask for any better weather. Mother nature finally has my back. Finally. It's about
time. I was like this perfect timing. It is not humid. It is not raining at all. I mean,
one day that was at this week. It was just beautiful. And now we're sitting here with
the high pressure system, not a cloud in the sky. I can still actually see the moon right
now. Wow. That's one of my favorite things. Nice. Yes. We're just going to stay like this
all day today. Just gorgeous sunny. Highs at about 82 degrees. Tomorrow's same exact story.
Highs a little bit warmer at about 85 degrees. And then a little bit of humidity starts to
leak on in as we go into next week. And of course, Sunday is the chance for some rain.
Looks like by the afternoon, I want to say and really increasing into the evening and
then into Monday and Tuesday. It looks a little wet there. Of course, right when I have
to go back to the real office and not be outside. I was going to say, Brittany, I was going
to try to help you find things for you to do to keep you outdoors throughout the whole
rest of the summer. Because I all three of us know what it's like to do broadcasting
in the wild and admire what you do. You've been doing this week. Great work this week,

some factual information. I don't know who Pat Critello was talking to, but that gentleman
could not, I mean, he in two sentences got nine things wrong. Caleb Williams is not
married to Simone Biles. Her name is Biles. She is arguably the greatest gymnast of all
time. Get her name right. And she is married to Jonathan Owens. Jonathan Owens has been
allowed by the Bears to go and watch her and everything. And he's missing some practices
for that. We got to get things right around here. And one of my biggest pet peeves about
new stations and like the four letter network and all these things is when they mess up,
nobody holds them accountable on their own network. We are not going to be that. I'm
sorry. Get things right. It happens. I know I mess up stuff all the time. So I'm pointing
to finger. I got three more point right back at me. But come on. And especially because
we're four hours away from the opening ceremony. And we're going to get you ready for it,
everybody. We got great 10 stats and facts to kick off the summer Olympics. We're also
going to get five funny terms you might hear during the Olympics in what they mean.
All right. There's going to be some good ones in there. And NBC's got to be letting you do
something different with the Paris athletes that is going to be quite interesting too. We have
a supreme court ruling to get to. Oh yeah. Those are always fun. Yeah. We'll see who Clarence Thomas
got something from. Oh dear. We will also did I say that? We got some entertainment news for you.
The friends cast. Why were they laughing in the opening credits? Got behind the scenes. Got
another pop artist going country, bought himself a cowboy hat. We will get into that. It's all
you need. Just put by cowboy hat. What's new on your small screen? What's new on your big screen
this weekend? We will get into some of that as well. In the 10 fast food joints, the top 10 fast food
joints in the country. We'll finally get back and get back to that one. Yeah. I forgot about that.
And we're going to be waiting all week for them. Yeah. I know what's not on Melissa's top 10.
Taco Bell. Yeah. Not on Melissa's top 10. We know that. We know that. And we're 10 is a lot. So
that's true. We're going to wrap up the week with some fun. We have from the Denver
airports, most unusual lost and found items. Got that one coming up. Very specific. The Denver
airport. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Specifically. Right there. But the other day, the three of us along
with Laura and some others got the chance to do a team building exercise. Something we have been
talking about doing for 50 years, everybody. We've only known. Wow. Yeah. And we've only known
each other a couple of years. Yeah. Right. It's weird how that worked out. It's a breath.

That's edgevrarchade.com. We had a blast over there. I want to start off right away by
thanking Melissa doing all the groundwork on that one and getting everything set up and really
appreciate it, Melissa. It was a lot of fun. Do you guys enjoy yourselves, Melissa? Oh, yeah.
I really love it. VR is such a cool experience to do. And then we did an escape room, which was
just kind of funny. It was. So if people don't know, okay, escape rooms, they've been around for a while
now. Basically, if you're not aware of what they are, you just you get locked in a room with a bunch
of people and you have to basically figure out how to solve puzzles and get out. That's basically
what you do. So this one was a virtual reality one, which is kind of cool because then you can
you know, the space you can use is much bigger in virtual reality. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. And
ours was kind of a science fictiony cyberpunk thing going on. Yeah, it was a very cool. So,
man, you're right. I don't think any of us had experienced VR period and then do it together
in a group and as a escape room. That was a lot of fun. We did well until the end when Seth
wandered off on his own. Laura got locked in some kind of prison. And James and I were left to,
I don't know, do the heavy lifting, I guess. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. We did manage to get out. We did.
We did. We did. Immediately my I could tell my gamers. And I mean both of these two were
immediately. Well, we got to do it again. We missed this, this, this, and this. My complete
soul. Yes, I would 100 percent 100 percent. There were trophies. Yes. I think we got one of the four
only. Yeah, that's right. Laura found one of them. Shout out Laura. There was one that I found,
but I didn't know what it was. So I didn't want to push the numbers on the box to try to get it out.
So, like, what if this blows up? We had a blast with the gang over there too. They couldn't have
treated us better over there. They're great. She's such great care of us. I want to shout out
Christie. She was amazing. Not just with us, both the kids did a really great job with that.
Like, wait, better than I would have done. I'll tell you that right now.
I want to own up to something with the audience and I don't know if I told you guys this.
I mentioned before I've been dealing with a concussion this week and I've been doing my homework
on this and reading up on it. And there were a couple of things that I was worried about. And I
thought, well, VR probably wouldn't be good for me right now, but we're going to an escape room.
And now I'll do that because I don't know anything about escape rooms except for what I've seen on
TV and movies. So I'm expecting to walk into an actual physical room and try to get out of it.
That's what I've seen in TV and movies. We walk into the building and I immediately realize I'm
the fool. It says on the sign, VR. It's going to be more blood James.
So I was a little, I was, I wouldn't say nervous. I was a little hesitant at first. I wasn't sure
how I would do. I didn't want to ruin the experience. So I wanted to give it a try.
And I'm so glad I did because not only did I feel like it went well for all of us, but I enjoyed
myself. I was really, I was really, I don't think that we take a lot of moments where we take a
little moment of pride. And in a funny way, I kind of was proud, not just of us, but us actually
doing it. Like we were all, like whatever happened happened, but we were all there. We were in the,
you know, as we're all getting into the actual physical game, the four of us, I felt really good
about that. I'm like, whatever happens, that's awesome. And then we all made it into the room.
You know, we were physically in the building. We were doing this activity together.
Something we had been talking about doing for a long time. And we were actually doing it.
I felt like the team building had already begun and already been let alone how we acted in the game.
Now, very similar to real life, the game starts off and I immediately like go off on my own.
And I'm just wandering and I'm thinking it's an open world that I can check out stuff.
And then I realized as I like one of the first things was, oh, we got to be in all four of us in
this one spot for this thing that happened. And it clicks. Oh, yeah, this is team, this is a team
thing. And which was actually really noteworthy because that's how I've spent the first year of
your guys here, where I just didn't lean on you guys enough. I didn't go to you guys for things
and stuff. It took me a while to remember, oh, yeah, I'm not doing this by myself anymore.
Right. I thought that was interesting. I could not get over the building. They've done such an
amazing job with that building they have. There is not only the VR sections, which we would have
killed for his kids. Oh, man. There is the Xbox section that is great, not just for young kids,
but adults as well. Exactly. And it's only 10 bucks for an all day pass in the Xbox room.
Exactly. Pretty cool. That's a great deal. You can't have a day of entertainment.
You can't find anything for that nowadays. That's incredible. And a great place to have parties
and such. I'm still thinking of having a bar mitzvol one day. I might have it there.
Not a bad idea. They've got a great little party room in the back there that is just perfectly
set up. Chris, he was showing me the wall where you can lean up against it. They put this light
on you and then it just stays there so kids can write things on there and draw cool stuff.
It's a very awesome thing. I've never seen anything like that. I thought it was really cool.
There are so many unique different things there. It was so happy for our community to have something
like that. And I got to say location wise, perfect spot. Skate city is still thriving.
It's very well over there. It's a perfect complement to skate city right there.
They're good fit with each other. Can not wait to get back over there because we are doing that
again. We got trophies to find. We got to do the same one. We're not going to do the same one,
though. No, no, we're not going to do a different one. I want to do like one of the jungle ones
or the survival one. That's something to know too. They have 14 different escape rooms to choose
from. Right. Which is super cool. And I also want to note out there for parents, they have
parental controls they can put on the VR games. So you don't worry. You can, you know, you set it
at 13 and under and they can't access the horror games. Sorry, Bailey. But the kids had a great
time. Christie made us pizzas. I mean, it was it was so much fun. I can't recommend it highly
enough. Yeah. We didn't get it. Oh, go ahead. I was just going to say and if you've never done
VR before, great opportunity to test it out. See if you like it or not. Yeah. If it's something
you're thinking of investing in, I would try it out before you do it because there's maybe you
won't like it. But if it's a great way to save some money in case. And I'll try out the games.
Exactly. I mean, it's 26 bucks for an hour. And you can play their giant giant
compendium of games there. Yes. And Christie was so sweet. She, I, I was the last one to get into
the room with you guys. Yeah. Yeah. Took her a while. Not sure. Took me a while. Yeah.
And then to figure out the controls. And Christie was right there just like encouraging me and
trying to talk me through how to do it. And eventually she's like, and I'm sorry, I don't remember
the young man's name. But she's like, um, can you just like skip her ahead and put her in the room?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just make that happen. You handled that like a champ too.
Well, and it, in my defense, my, my hands were on backwards, which is very
just concerning. Yeah. It's really, really, really trouble. It was weird to watch. At one, at one
point, Laura had to exit out of the game and her, like her avatar, which is the leg there,
like the second floor was weird. That was a little disturbing because you don't have any arms
and legs, but you have gloves for hands. Yeah. Or you have hands and boots and you have shoes or
boots. Yeah. Yeah. And an outfit. But you, you're like, you're not a real person. Right. I
really like that. They look really cool. Yeah. They did. The VR part was so incredible. The
graphics nowadays. I, I have yet to normalize that in my head. I keep doing this with YouTube
videos where I'm looking for the higher K, like the 20 K and 15 K and stuff. And just to see what
these things look like, it blows you away. The VR was like that to me. I couldn't, I couldn't get over.
There was at least a couple times where I should have been looking for something, but I was stuck
looking at a tree or, or something like that. It was incredible. Every once in a while, I'd walk up
to a railing and then I try to, like, rest my arm on it. Yes. Yeah. It doesn't, it doesn't quite
work. I don't mean you're like, wait, wait, wait. That's not how to do that. I counted at least
nine times that the controller had to tell me, can you please get back to your spot? One time,
Chrissy had to help me back there because I kept moving around. I turned it into my father,
my, my dad forever. You put a, a game controller in his hand and he moves with the controller.
Right. Like it's a steering wheel or something. Right. Yeah. I was doing that started out.
And speaking of racing, I got to go back there, especially to check out that racing simulator.
I really want to try that. That looks like a lot of fun. That is a lot of fun. The chair moves
and it kind of rumbles. Like if you get off the track, it's going to, you're going to feel it,
which is just fun. Just a great time waiting for you at Edge VR, everybody.

Oh, Kathy, Kathy saw me and auditioned for her in Gypsy. And I just wanted to be in a show
that Kathy Miles was directing. She for those that don't know is the, the founder, one of the
original founders of Wisconsin Ravis Community Theater. And one of the stronger actors
that stage is still ever seen. One of the better directors that stage is ever known.
And I've gotten to work with her on a number of different levels. I do Gypsy and for some reason
she liked me. And they were filming no names in a couple of towns over just a little ways over.
And they were looking for locals and Kathy immediately suggested me. I got to audition.
I was one of the people that had a speaking role, which means I have to be in the guild to be in
that movie. So I got into the screen actors guild. There you go. And it just doesn't happen
without her. Nice. And also just a fun human being. I love talking to Kathy. I could talk to her
for hours. Wonderful person and wishing you the best of days wherever she is. I don't know
she's in Berlin. I don't know she's in rap. It's, I'm not sure, but wishing you a great
way out. Well, all I know is that WRCT is celebrating their 50th anniversary coming up here.
And I'm telling you, that's, that's not hey, man. As much as we love that theater, as much as
we feel good from all of that, I can't imagine how she must feel about when it comes to something
like that. And if you ever have a chance to see or be a part of a Kathy Miles production,
can not encourage you enough to do so. Yep. And we wish happy birthday to our

Right. We take a look at our celebrity birthdays. And let's see here for today. Kate
Beckinsale is 51. Oh, wow. Selena, the vampire in the underworld movies. God, she's so good in
those. She was also great with Adam Sandler and click. She was in Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman
and she was really good in that great action actor. Yes. Very, very talented too. She does a lot of
a lot of other work that I've seen her do with John Q. Seconds and others. One of her early
serendipity. Yeah. One of her early roles was the last days of disco and she was really good in
that with boys funny. Yeah. If you need a driver, you call up Jason Statham. 57 for Mr. Jason Statham.
Wow. Deckard Shaw on fast and furious. Lee Christmas and the expendables. Frank Martin and
the transporter movies. Some of my I love those movies, man. Yes. Jason Statham's a fantastic actor.
Like he is a way above average actor. He's not a thespian. He is not any of those things.
But what you need him to do, he does. And he does it really well. And he is one of these guys that
works really hard with other actors. He learned a lot from Bruce Lee and a lot of the way Bruce Lee
did action movies. And you can see some like similarities there and everything. He's great. I like
him. 60 years old for the wonderful, the legend Sandra Bullock. Oh, I just can't talk
enough about her. She's great. She's just fantastic actor. Fantastic.
Had a great career. Has had a great career. She's not done yet.
One of those films producer. Yeah. One of those people that would it would generally like shock me
to hear that Sandra Bullock is like a a devour horrible person to work with or anything like that.
You just never hear anything negative about her. For rightful reasons. You should really get
the net from 1995. Oh dear God. I loved that movie. We had it on VHS and I watched it a lot.
One of the few acting performances you get to see from Dennis Miller in that one. Yes.
Nice. Deep cut Melissa. Nicely done. So dated. Oh my god. Is that a 90s movie?
You go back and watch that one. It's so fun to see the special effects of the way they talk about
the internet. Oh, it's so why I'm still paranoid on the internet guy. Wow, especially as we
are getting just hours away from the opening ceremony of the Olympics, we wish an extremely big
happy birthday and a gold medal happy birthday. Dorothy Hamill 68. Oh, figure skating star legend.
One golden the 76 Olympics and you get a chance to watch some of her work and man, it is fun.
Roger Taylor is 75 Queens drummer. He also wrote a few of the band's hits, a kind of magic and
Radio Gaga two of my four favorite Queen songs. All right. There you go. Written by Roger Taylor.
I didn't know that until I was much older. I thought that was kind of cool. That is cool. Radio
Gaga is maybe my favorite Queen song. That's a good song. That's very cool. It's so good.
And I've said this before about Benedict Cumberbatch, I will say it strongly about Helen Mirren,
the best actor in the world. Helen Mirren is 79 today. Wow. Love Helen Mirren. Best in the
world. What a great career she's had. Man, she's in everywhere. Yeah. The films, TV, I mean,
everything. And she's been like, once she kind of got this second act in her career, she's
having fun. Like, she's done some, like, she's played the Queen, she's played some big
Thesbian roles and everything. She's also in the red movies, the National Treasure movies.
She's a Winchester. She's in fast and furious movies. She's doing all kinds of stuff, man.
Just keep doing your thing. I love that because because British, she's from, you know,
Britain, Britain, the British actors, if they act in their home country, do not get paid nearly
as much as they do when they come to America. So I am, I'm totally with her on this. You get paid
now, Helen. Yes. You go and gets paid at these big movies. Do your thing. Do your thing. You've
earned it. Yep. We look at people that are, oh, I'm sorry, almost, geez, I almost skipped Mick
Jagger's 81. Wow. My dad would never know that. Yeah. Does he aware that he's 81? That's a great
question. I don't think he does. He's still, he's still performing. He's still doing his thing.
Oh, incredible performer. Incredible front man. Sneaky good harmonica player. Yes.
Gets the blues, man. Mick gets the blues, man. The early stone stuff where he plays, he's
really good. He just didn't, he just, they kind of dropped it as part of when they were going on.
He didn't do it much anymore, but those early tracks with the stones, man. You watch some of his
live stuff. Don't believe that they were at Woodstock, but they were doing a live show during Woodstock
and there's some footage of it. And he's going to town on that harmonica. He can play. And not a bad
actor. Not bad. No, he wasn't. He was a movie. Yeah, he was all right. Some people no longer,
no longer with us like Dobie Gray born in 1940, Pestine way in 2011. Drift away. Still a classic.
Drift away is still a classic. One of the greatest directors of all time, Stanley Kubrick born
in the state in 1928, Pestway in 99, the shining full metal jacket, 2001, the space, honestly,
clockwork orange. Dr. Strangelove, Spartacus. Just an incredible career. What Quentin Tarantino wishes
his career was was Stanley Kubrick's. This idea that I'm going to do 10 perfect films. Man,
you didn't, you didn't even do one. Stanley Kubrick did, though. Yeah, Stanley Kubrick chose.
And then we look at Saturday, birthdays. We want to wish happy birthday to Maya Rudolph.
Oh, 52 from Maya Rudolph. She funny. Oh, God, I love her. A Saturday Night Live star,
Bridesmaid star, so many great things. She's had a really already, and she's still going,
you know, he's got a great career ahead of her and everything too, but set a great career.
Bill Engville is 67, Bart of the Blue Collar comedy tour. I mentioned him. And of course,
two people no longer with us that would have been celebrating birthdays on Saturday,
the legend of TV Norman Lear born in 1922, Pestway in 2023. When I say legendary TV producer,
I am underselling him TV. The biggest possibly the biggest game changer in TV history was Norman Lear.
They get to make an argument. Yeah, all in the family, good times, the Jefferson's one day at a time,
a mod. The man didn't do any TV show that was not groundbreaking. And he owned the 70s. Yeah,
I really do. And the legendary Van Dyke would have been celebrating a birthday on Saturday,
Luther on coach. Yep. I've said this actually interesting because we had Woody Harrelson's birthday
earlier this week. It takes a talented actor to play silly stupid, to be able to do that and make
it believable. You've all seen it done where it's not believable. Those guys Woody, Jerry Van Dyke,
yep. And it, not for nothing, it's not exactly cool to play that character. It's not easy for an
actor. None of these guys wears Woody or Jerry Van Dyke or any of these guys started out. You know,
what? I want to play the fool, but they do it and they do it well. And they are sometimes the most
memorable parts of the things that they did. Also, just like Steve Martin, a demon banjo player.
Yeah. He was a fabulous banjoist. Yes. I forgot about that. And wrapping up with Sunday birthdays.
Oh, man, this is crazy. John David Washington, Denzel Washington's very, very talented oldest son
is 40. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. I blew my mind. I didn't know he was 40. Ricky and ballers,
incredible work and tenet. And if you have not seen the black clansman, one of the most
much watch movies I've ever seen, it's true story. It's a true story based on it. And there's

I was going to actually, you know what, man, there's such a part of me that wants to make you do the

For our generation, that was a pinnacle show. That really was. It was also one of the few shows
that was able to balance comedy in some drama. They didn't do it a lot, but ever once in a while,
there were episodes where there were dramatic moments and things. And I think one of the most
dramatic moments in TV history was actually in one of those episodes where Will was, you know,
about his dad and everything and that moment that happened. That's pretty good. I'm also
here. Go ahead. When you said emotional moment, I thought you were going to talk about the Carlton dance.
It really, maybe it's interesting. It's arguably the most famous thing to come out of that show.

shows that I got into that got canceled. And if I was into a show, and it was still around,
I was just happy the show was still around. Right. I'm still bitter about space rangers.
Herman's head. Herman's head, man. That's a great show. But I was stunned to find out that so
many of my classmates were into the show, like years into the show. Oh, really? Because we didn't
talk about TV shows back then. We didn't really do that really. When you're kids, you don't
use to talk about that and stuff. I wasn't allowed to. We couldn't talk about TV at school.
The whole different level of this. That was interesting. I also felt, not only first,
the Fresh Prince Bel Air aired from September 10, 1990 to May 20, 1996. Nice run for that show.
All in close to the 90s. I don't know if Will Smith has worked his way back into the good of
the public eye, but with the selling of bad boys four or five, whatever, whatever, and some of that
and everything. I thought it was fair to I've had this one in the works. I actually had this one
in the works before the whole slap heard around the world. And it was like, oh, well, I can't do that
one for a while. I think we're good now. I think we're good. Good. And congratulations to Matt.

everybody. We got to get to a little bit of Olympic talk. And we are just a let me check here.
We are four hours and 22 minutes and 30 seconds away from the Olympic, the opening ceremonies of
the game. Not that we're counting. No, no, not that he doesn't have a clock up. That's the
countdown clock. Right in front of him. USA. USA. Got a roundup of some stats and facts to
get you ready for these summer games. Over 10,000 athletes from 206 different nations and territories
will complete in the games this year. Okay. Complete. What do I complete in the games? Complete
in the games. Complete and compete. Hopefully they complete their bad. Yeah, that's it's
here. It's open. It's actually more than 206 because of the refugee Olympic team,
which is athletes from lots of places. Team USA has over 500 athletes. Whoa. That's a lot.
There are 329 events across 32 sports, including four sports that they're testing out this year,
including surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing and break dancing. Yes, I remember breaking.
I believe this is what they call it, right? Yeah, we'll see how this goes. I hope they broadcast that.
Yeah, I can't wait to see that. Since the first modern games in 1896, 10 sports have been dropped.
They include croquet, polo, lacrosse, motorboating and tug of war. Wait, wait, wait, motorboating.
I was trying to be an adult about it, but I was talking. I'm the three of us. You're the one
that can't be the child. Just one on this. I can now feel morally superior to Melissa.
Not you can. Yes, I can. I've seen fresh friends. Nice. I think that it's pretty interesting
that croquet, the polo, that stuff down in there. Croquet, I love it. I like to kind of see
lacrosse back in there. I think tug of war would be fun, but with Olympic athletes that are already
there, I think they don't specialize in tug of war. That would be awesome. It's almost like
all-star game kind of tiebreaker at the end of the Olympics. It's a big old tug of war. You got
your weightlifters out there. You got the brine out there. You know, some things. I think that'd be
kind of cool to see. It's never happened, but I think it'd be kind of cool to see something like
that come back. That would be hilarious. Did you happen to list pool in that? No, no. How can they
have tug of war and not have pool? I don't know. Olympic sport. That's ridiculous. I'm with you
on this Melissa, actually. I've never thought about it before, but off the top of my head, I could see
pool being in the Olympics. I don't know if I have any problem. It should be. Between the Olympics and
the Paralympics, around 5,000 medals will be handed out. Each one has over half an ounce of iron
from the Eiffel Tower mixed in. Oh, really? That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. That's a nice
little add-on for your gold medal there. Around 10,000 different torch bears have carried the torch
over the past three months. It's been whining its way through France since early May.
The youngest and oldest adults this year are both on Team USA. Gymnast Hezly Rivera just turned
16 last month, and Stefan Peters will compete in Adressage, the fancy horse dancing event. He is 59,
and this is his sixth Olympics. Oh, cool. That's pretty cool. We have both of those. Yeah,
that's really neat. 59% of American adults plan to watch at least some of the events this year,
and around 4 billion people watch Worldwide. Wow. That is that 59% is way higher. Because what they're
not giving, they're giving you pre-Olympics numbers. Right. Wait until it happens. Yeah. Everybody's
going to watch something. I'm not saying they're going to be glued to it, and not anything can say
that they're caring or they're engaged, but there is not as much to watch right now. There is not
as much to take up your bandwidth right now, and everybody is going to be paying attention,
at least a little bit to the Olympics. I have a very hard time wrapping my mind around any single
person on the planet not knowing that the Olympics are going on, or at least having it in their
ether a little bit. Well, I will not be watching, because I'm mad at the Olympics. I am mad at
the Olympics until they bring baseball back. I'm sorry. No, I'm not talking to you anymore, Olympics.
You stand on your ground. You stand on your ground. Come on, they got flake football.
Come on. Don't baseball. It's an interesting one. Come on.
Break dancing. No baseball. Man. I'm just going to slowly, like, bring
cesspit about. You get another thing. 74% of people play.
74% are sorry. Tickets to the event this year range in price from $24 all the way up to $980.
Whoa. She's taking every event. Tickets to the opening ceremony went for as much as
over tooth grant. And they're expecting to sell a total of around 10 million tickets.
Wow. That's a lot. No matter what, no one's passing Team USA on the all-time
medal list between the summer and winter games. America has 2975 medals coming into the games.
The closest is the Soviet Union with 1,004. They don't even exist anymore. Yeah. Germany with
1,058. One more time, everybody. To be fair, the US has more athletes in general and has been
putting more athletes than any other country for many years. So that's part of it to just sheer
quantity, but the fact that they can do that is that's part of the coolness.
Statistically very true, Seth. Yeah. And I've really been looking forward to getting
into a very deep and detailed conversation about this. You. You said all I had to come
lost him folks. We've lost him. This year, NBC will be putting heart rate monitors on the
competitors' parents, then showing the results on the screen as they watch their child take on
the biggest challenge of their sports careers. We have officially run out of ideas. We have what
the heck. There are seems a little invasive. Very. Yeah. With the heck there aren't a lot of
details about how it'll play out and it won't be for every athlete. NBC is just doing this as
another way to gamify the broadcast, adding another layer of drama to follow outside the actual
competition. I don't think you need this. I think you're right, man. You just look at their faces.
Right. We're just going to watch the number at the bottom of the screen when there's I don't know
the event to watch. Man, man. This is something that I'm seeing with a lot of newer stadiums and
stuff too, where they're trying so hard to get younger people and get social media involved in
some of these things. And I've talked to a lot of younger people about this subject in many
different ways. And it always comes back to we have our phones. Every, every, every young person
tells me the same thing. I just look at my phone if I want that no matter what I say to them. Well,
the LA Clippers are doing this really neat new thing. I have my phone. Well, the Olympics are
doing that. No, I have my phone. They don't need this added on stuff. They've already got what they
want with that. I blame anybody for trying new things. But test this stuff out before you go full
storm into it because the money and the time that you spend on this stuff does not balance out.
The risk reward is not there, especially if you're NBC, which being blunt about it has been number
four in the ratings for a long time. Yes. They finished number third one year in the last 10, 20
years. They, they need the Olympics more than any other network in human history needs the Olympics
and the Olympic ratings it brings. It's the reason they were able to out by everybody or
out bid everybody because nobody was going to put what NBC did on this. Right. Exactly. Exactly.
Doing these kind of things. I just don't know. I don't know that it really adds up. Let's go ahead
and take a call. Good morning. You're on the air. James, you're looking at it all wrong. This is a
pre test for your yearly. That's right. They're getting. They're getting your EKG done. All of, you know,
I mean, it's what you really got to look at it that way. You're completely right. I take back
everything I said. You're 100% right. That's a great point, man. That's a great point, actually.
I love the idea of a parent who's had like, you know, as it was been wanting to get that done,
and we're like, Oh, sure. Why not? Yeah. Go ahead and let me go. Yeah. That's why television. Sure. Why not?
Can't I know we've talked that we touched on this before and playmakers, but are you
all engaged in the Olympics looking forward to any of the events?
As you can tell by my hesitation, I'm not really. Yeah. Yeah. I'm kind of with stuff a little bit.
I mean, yeah, they're going to have like football there, you know, as an exhibition or whatever it is,
and all that. I mean, baseball is a kind of Olympics sport. And for them to take that away,
it's just, I mean, I might try to watch a little bit of the agenda as, you know, say like watching
someone do their thing. I mean, yeah, swimming. I'm not sure. I mean, I used to watch it because
of Michael Phelps. I'm not really sure who's, you know, who's going to be the front runner,
because, you know, I come and I'm like, I guess I get into a more into the winter Olympics than I do
from our Olympics. I know my dad's the same way. I know a number of people that are for just a
quick note, the flag football will be in the next Olympics. That's when they'll be doing that.
Right. And I'm with you on actually some of that. What you're saying there and everything.
Because while I'm talking about the Olympics and I am, you know, really into it and everything,
I'm looking forward to some of these newer sports. I don't have the bandwidth to be glued to it
as much as I would like to be. So I'm not going to be as locked in as a summer. I think that one of
the things that's going to really stand out about these particular Olympics is just the location,
the Paris part of things. I think a lot of people might be watching even outside of the Olympics,
just enjoying some of the, you know, here in the location, local talk and some of that and
everything. And I was going to give people in. I have a big question for you in the audience.
And I mean, you by you, all three of you guys, could you see a day where there is no more Olympics?
I think I think it's one of those things. It's it's something we don't talk about. We don't say
out loud, but it's something that I hear all the time in the back of my mind. While we're still
doing this, we're still doing this. I'm curious. I'm I'm really curious if this is something that
you could see in the next 10, 20 years going away. I hope not. I could see I could see it happen.
Just because I mean, I don't like thinking I mean, let's say open it up to more networks, baby. I
mean, we're just having one network with NBC. I mean, I don't know, but it's getting expensive
and some of these smaller countries are, yeah, some of them don't participate. It's just the
expense. Yeah. It's not much. Yeah. I whatever happens with it, I hope that the Paralympics
always stay around. I hope that we always have that that we always have those and everything.
Those are too important. And not to say that the Olympics aren't important, but I think that
where the Olympics started and where it is are two light year differences. Yeah. And it has
become much more of an entertainment. And I understand that that's TV. That's I don't blame people
for that or anything. But the athletes don't treat it that way. The athletes don't treat
it like it's TV show. And that's that's always where I come back to. And I'm a little close to
this. My aunt Pat was was going to be in the going to be an Olympic athlete. She was going to go
for gymnastics. She was she was like right there. And I know how much it meant to her. And I think
I still carry some of that with me. I really enjoy the Olympics. I'm looking forward to seeing
