of your United Way of Southwood and Endings County's Terry Johns. Good morning.
Oh, it feels good to have the band back together. It does.
It's a Friday. We're going to hang out. We're going to have some fun and we've got our good friend,
Brittany Merlot joining us to let us know what the forecast is going to be like this weekend.
Brittany, good to have you with us. Hey, hey, hey. Oh, yes, everyone.
Yes, it's a Friday. And in Mother Nature's playing along this weekend, it looks like.
Oh, she sure is. She's giving us a nice treat. That's for sure. I mean, today we're going to climb
to about 80 degrees. Funny, beautiful. That's fog. If you have any fog where you're at right now,
don't worry. It's about to burn off and then just going to lead way to a gorgeous day. There's
no problems whatsoever. There's maybe a chance with a scatter shower or storm up north. But really,
I don't think we're going to see that. And then tomorrow, oh my gosh, it's going to be the warmest
day summer like into the mid 80s. Mid 80s. That's kind of crazy. Yeah. Yeah. And it feels like it just
came out of nowhere, too. In a way, it's been building to this. I get that. But it does feel like
just out of nowhere. Just came in. It does. I agree with you 100%. We'll take it. We will take it though.
Do keep in mind those Saturday night, you know, like afternoon into the evening because it's
going to be so warm in summer like how you usually get those pop-up showers and storms in the
afternoon and evening. Well, those chances are going to be there because the cold front kind of
moves through the state. It's a weak one. But it's enough to fire up a little bit of that with
the instability and heat that we'll have. So Saturday afternoon evening, just keep in mind
it's a chance. I don't want you to think, hey, it's sunny all weekend long and warm and we're good.
You might get caught Saturday night. Otherwise, yes, sunny warm and fantastic. Definitely good
notes. You're not going to get any kind of. There's like always an asterisk on everything, right? Like,
but maybe, but we get the asterisk with with Britney. Nobody gives a forecast like her. You're

be celebrating. Um, we're going to get into this interesting, uh, a blueie event that happened
and who's to blame necessarily for it. Uh, and I say blueie with quotations because is it blueie
or was it just kind of like generic blueie? Oh, no, an imposter. Yeah. Yeah. We'll get into that.
Um, that's coming up a little bit. Also McDonald's has a new McFlurry flavor. We're going to touch
on that one. I saw that on their sign. Yeah. Oh, there's a couple of other things like, uh,
like that going on. Of course, after our news break today, we will make you a star of the day
with our friends from callvers. Terry and I have been doing a bit of game shows and we've got one
left. So we're going to go ahead and get that in. Uh, so if you've kept a tally, there's only one left.
Yeah. We'll get into that and have some fun. We've got some great entertainment news for you.
Not only are we talking Dolly Parton when we kick off the entertainment in the nine o'clock hour.
Also going to let you know it's new on your small screen, new on your big screen and on your
local theater stage, all of that coming up, looking forward to it. And we got one of those what if
questions, Terry, one of those what ifs. Would you rather be five times smarter, richer or more
attractive? Oh, I like. Would you rather? Yeah. Those could be fun. It's gonna be fun. Some of that
ain't right stories. Good stories of the day, of course. And it's live radio. You put Terry and I in
a room together who knows what could happen. It's going to be fun. Uh, but Terry, if you don't mind,
I did want to start right here with you. I got your newsletter the other day about the United
Way of Southwood and the Ems counties announcing funding allocations for 2025. It's exciting news.
Yeah. So we've recently, um, you know, kind of tied up the the funding process. We we do a pre
allocation. So that means I'm in the spring each year. We are allocating funds for the following year.
Of course, with the caveat that enough funds get raised in the fall campaign. So it puts a good
goal out there for us, right? And as a great motivator. So, um, at our May 8th board meeting last week,
the board of directors approved the funding recommendations from the we have a we have volunteer
review panel. So these are community members who, um, you know, really invest a lot of time into
reading applications, visiting programs, hearing, um, presentations. And then collectively as a group,
making a funding recommendation to our community impact committee of our board. That committee, um,
excuse me, then works through all of those those recommendations and then makes a final
recommendation for approval to the board of directors, which again was approved on May 8th.
And so now we have contacted the the agencies, the local agencies that want to provide programming
and let them know about their funding allocation. And then the press release came out yesterday. So,
you know, we're super excited about it. Um, we have a lot of long time existing partners that,
you know, will continue to get funding. Um, you know, because honestly, bottom line, they're doing
great work. Um, we, um, we have not been in a financial position of raising more dollars.
So that sometimes is a challenge, right? Because everyone is looking for more dollars. But,
but on the other hand, we're also very fortunate because we're hearing from, we're hearing from
other United Ways, but we're also hearing from these agencies and programs that we helped to fund
that, you know, other funding sources are cutting back or they're drying up or they're unavailable.
And so we feel very blessed that we are able to at least maintain those allocations, right? So,
so you're not going to maybe see, you're not going to see a cut from us. You might not get more,
but you're also not going to see a cut. And, and I think the other really huge benefit of,
of us using this model of pre allocation is that programs are, we're notified. I mean,
letters want the mail on Monday. So they're notified already what mid May of what they're going to
start getting in January. So they can plan and budget and work out the rest of their year. And I
know that that's not how many funding sources work. So, you know, our goal is just to be very,
very upfront and, and very, you know, hopefully helping them seek out other resources if needed,
or allowing them to properly plan for, you know, for the next year. So this is, this is fabulous.
We're super excited about it. We love having the partners that we have. We were unable to bring
any new partners on. Again, because if we, if we funded a new program, then we've got to take it
away from somewhere, you know, that's kind of the position that we're in right now. So, so again,
not bad, because we were able to raise the same amount as the prior year. But it doesn't,
it doesn't really give us a lot of wiggle room. But that was one of the reasons why we decided to
not take on new programs. Because, like I said, we've got a lot of great partners doing great work.
And they're also aligning with, you know, what we feel are the greatest needs in the community. So,
our plan for community well-being, serving Alice households. So, so families and individuals who are,
you know, perhaps under employed, they're, they're not at the federal poverty level, which is
really super low. But they're kind of between that. And what it actually takes to live, right? Like,
you know, to have a, have a good, good sound budget and good quality. So, so that's really where
our focus is. And, and, you know, we're really excited to continue to partner with, with many of the
same programs as we're partnering with in 2024. It's, um, to me, certainly we, we would always
love to be able to do more. Uh, that is always, you know, something that not only are United Way,
but so many other groups and just volunteers and nonprofit organizations out there are always
looking to do in this day and age especially. Um, and, and I appreciate that out of you. I,
I first and foremost appreciate the transparency. It's one of the first conversations you and I had
went and involved in United Way. And, um, that's always appreciated. If you get the chance,

just go to UWSWAC.org. Um, I had, I, I, I, I don't want to make light of anything that is, is
serious in this conversation or anything like that. But I got really excited about this. And I,
I do when I get to watch, look at this. And I'm seeing the numbers, I'm seeing it broken down,
and I appreciate against the transparency of this. But what I see also is, oh, child carrying,
going to keep doing what they're doing. Boy scout's going to keep doing what they're doing,
like these organizations that have, have really relied on this and have really benefited from
it are going to continue to, um, and it's exciting. It's, it isn't Christmas, but it feels a little
like that where it's, it's okay. I know that these organizations that we're good, we're, we're
going to be helping, you know, things are going to be okay. Things going to be better or what
have you. Um, it's just exciting for not only these organizations, but these communities, the people.
And one of the things that you and the United Way has done so well is we've got these holes,
we've got these gray areas. Let's patch them. And, and that's what this is about. And most things,
like childcare, like a lot of other topics, literacy, some of these things,
Rome wasn't built in a day. This takes time. It takes, it takes a while to build up on these things.
So the fact that it's funding is where it's at, where it was last year or something. That's some
of the best news I'm going to hear today. Uh, that's fantastic. It is the best news. It is the best news.
Like, we already started over the good story. So, you know, the other thing about this,
though, James is that, so we allocated a little over $500,000 for the start, you know, for January
2025. And there's very few individuals or households that could literally fund that, right?
I mean, think about that. So, so I mean, I think that's also the beauty of United Way, by giving,
by making a donation is little as a dollar a week. That's how this is happening. You know,
we've got thousands of people in the community who are saying, well, gosh, I can't give you $1,000
a year, but I can give you, you know, three bucks a week or $5 a paycheck. And, and that's how
this happens. It's, it's everyone giving what is meaningful to them. I was going to say everyone
giving a little, but I don't minimize that. But you know what I'm saying? Like, like, if you say,
gosh, well, I could give a dollar a paycheck and somebody else could give $10 a paycheck.
And somebody else says, well, I can just give you a one-time donation of $20. That's how all of this
gets funded. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it's quite remarkable. And it's, it's a beautiful model because it's,
it's engaging a wide, wide spectrum of the community. And if you've not been part of it, I, you know,
would really encourage people to be part of it. The other good story thing that I want to just
bring up, we've got lots of stuff going on. And I know Ben from our team is going to be on Midday
Magazine this afternoon with you. So, um, but one thing that I just want to call out is in May,
um, our Deli Parton Imagination Library program is mailing out our 40,000th book.
Since we started the program. Oh, I can make that official. Oh, I get bells even. Yeah.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's fantastic. So since we started in, um, August of 2017, now,
and of course, you know, enrollment can fluctuate in that kind of thing because it's just how
many people sign up and one kid's turn five, they drop out of the program. But yeah, so in,
sometime in this month of May, our 40,000th book will be melted. That cool. God, that felt good.
I felt a jolt from that. That's awesome. That is fantastic. Thank you for sharing that, Terry.
We will wrap up talking a little more United Way. And we'll be talking about Ben a little
bit later. As you mentioned there, he'll be our guest in part two of Midday Magazine. Today is
we wrap up the show for the week. I also want to remind everybody you, W-S-W-A-C dot org. There's

other things going on. As we're getting ready to go to our break in the LKFA birthday and
anniversary club, I did want to wrap up the segment talking about this coming from our friend Tom
and all of our friends over the VFW post 2534. Those interested in helping with the, um,
in the local Wisconsin Rapids veterans organizations, they're going to be placing American flags on
headstones for deceased veterans in three of the larger Wisconsin Rapids cemeteries tomorrow.
If an individual family or organization would like to help honor our deceased brothers and sister
veterans, we will be meeting at the, excuse me, Forest Hill mausoleum at 945. So that'll be the
Forest Hill mausoleum at 945. And beginning to place flags at 10 a.m. over 300,000, 330, uh, 3,300
graves will be decorated with the flags at the cemeteries. That is fabulous. That is a beautiful thing.
Whether it'll be gorgeous, you know, join them. Yeah, join them. It's very touching.
Uh, it's, it's a, I've, I've done this in the past and it's been a couple of years since I've
been able to, but doing it in the, when I've done it in the past, actually was able to do this
with my papa one year and, um, it was, it was just a, it was a solemn moment to, for me, I'm going
there to honor him and my grandfather and other soldiers that have fought for our country and in
my family's name. And that was an important thing that he noted to me as we're looking at these
graves and seeing these last names of individuals and some individuals where they're, their family
line lineage stopped right there. That's important to note. It's important to remember. And I think
that the, um, the overall feeling of this is, is one thing, but I, I'm doing this for him and these
things as I'm, I'm going through with this with him, I'm noticing he's remembering people. He's
remembering people that he was with in Korea. He's remembering people that he was with in World War
2. And, and what this means for him and him explaining to me the lineage idea of this and how many,
especially in World War 2, how many generations, England, it's a whole different story that the,
the family lineages that were just cut off, cut, dead, gone. Same thing with here and in states.
And it's so important. There's so many different stories that you, I think, one of the ways that
you can honor is learning and understanding more and more of the history that's being uncovered.
Some years back when a bunch of sealed documents of Winston Churchill's were released to the
public. And we found out all these different stories of these different missions that individuals
went on to, to help this one piece happen so that this piece could happen so that this piece
could happen. And we can get boats from America over to Europe to be able to end this horrible
moment in history like so many different things. And that's just one war. I mean, there's tons of
different history and tons of different ways that you can honor our veterans. And this is one of the
greater ones you can do. Yeah, I think it's awesome. You know, shout out to, of course, to Tom and
all the rest of the veterans that help coordinate this because there's something about that.
You know, we used to do it for Girl Scouts. So we'd take our daughter and it was always done
at the Rudolph cemetery. But it's something to, you know, if you have an opportunity tomorrow morning
to join them and take your, take your, you know, maybe middle schooler along or something like that,
it's pretty impactful. It's a great way to keep this going for future generations by bringing
future generations along. We'll take a time out. We'll mention this information again before
you wrap up today. And we'll get to a lot more information with the LKFA birthday and anniversary

but great standard comedian and a little blue, a little blue standard comedian for quite a while.
He changed that up with full house, of course, doing that job. And being the glue of that show.
And that's not so much somebody I didn't really watch it too much. My sister really loved that show.
I'm listening to cast members and people now that he's passed and they talk about him,
even when he was around when they talked about him. And he was really the glue of that show. He was
the guy that everybody could count on. Everybody could lean on. That was kind of his part in the show,
too. Yeah. So interesting. And a great host. Fantastic host. He was so good at all the different
shows that he MC'd and he hosting. He was very good at it. It's a good just all around very
talented guy. He is missed. Let's see, taking a look at the rest of our list here.
Tony Parker is 42, retired MBA point guard. Let's see here. Josh Home is 51 founding member of
Queens of the Stone Age, great singer, songwriter, seen them live twice. Great band. Really good band.
One of the better bands I've ever seen live. And Trent Resner is celebrating the birthday today.
Happy 59th to and Ninety Snails genius. And I'll throw that word around lightly, but genius.
Trent Resner in his work. If you don't believe me, actually interestingly, I saw Queens of the
Stone Age opening up for Ninety Snails. That's really weird. Oh, yeah. That is actually interesting.
In Madison, that's kind of interesting. Resner went from doing the very goth metal kind of rock
in those things to go on and become an Oscar winner in multi-time Oscar nominee for doing soundtracks
from movies like the the social network and the girl with the dragon tattoo and a lot of those
with Atticus Finch to the point where he just did one of his most recent movies, Soul, that
Disney Pixar or whatever soul. He did the soundtrack of that. Oh really.
A going from doing this hardcore industrial metal music. Well, he just had to find his way.
Yeah. Yeah. Just an incredible artist and a very I like hearing his interviews too. A very humble
Craig Ferguson is 62 James Gordon predecessor on the late late show. He did a great job on that
show. He really I don't stand that late. I only I got to be honest. I never saw this show, but I
saw interviews from the show. And a lot of it just so he seemed like people were having fun on that
show. And he got the he got the job. The late late show is different than the late show.
The late show the tonight show or the late show that David Letterman ran for a long time.
Kind of the last remnant of your TV viewing of the night. And you're going to have it be a little
more PG than normal, a little more PG than some of the stuff, even maybe you saw in the 9 o'clock
hour. But the late late show, that's when they let it all hang out and it has some fun. And the
guests aren't always maybe you're not getting a list stars, but that's kind of the fun of it and
everything. Conan, of course, I'm biased, but he he perfected that job. I thought Craig Ferguson
did a really good job too. I thought he was very good at what he did. Anya is 63. Anya,
haven't heard that name in a while. I mean, in wonderful singing artist was pretty big back
we were kids and everything. She sold more than 75 million albums, more than 26 million in the US.
That was in the 80s, you think? Maybe all in the 80s. Maybe all that. I don't know. And it's the
second best selling Irish act ever behind you too. I guess that's pretty cool. That is cool.
Now that I hear it, I would have guessed that maybe, but I wouldn't know it off the top.
I had to wouldn't have thought of it. Sugar Ray Leonard is 68 today boxing legend. One of the
smoothest fighters you've ever seen. Olympic gold medal winner, world championship winner at four
different weight classes. Do you understand how difficult that is? Just almost underrated
Sugar Ray Leonard because he was a middleweight boxer and the heavyweight boxer get all the press.
Sure. The middleweight guys don't usually do that. But this is still at a time when boxing was
at a high and Sugar Ray was like the face of boxing for a while there, especially with what he
did for us in the Olympics and at the World Finals. And again, four different weight classes he did
this at. Not very few people had a sweet right hook than Sugar Ray too. That right hook was coming.
You might as well just start making your plans for after the fight when you wake up because that's
what it was. That was what's going to happen. Think about though, just the discipline for the
different weight classes and everything. You know, there's, yeah, I watch my father go through
this sometimes and eventually just be in he I loved boxing, loved fighting, loved being a part of
it. And I saw him sometimes never more frustrated than when he couldn't hit a weight or something like
that. It was weird. It wasn't, but I, you know, it's part of the game. It's part of that fighting.
Some people no longer with us along with Bob Sagitt we mentioned earlier, Bill Paxton,
character actor extraordinaire, massive credits, The Terminator, Weird Science, Aliens, Near Dark,
True Lies, Apollo 13, Twister, Titanic, Tombstone, Edge of Tomorrow. I like him. So good.
I actually knew who that one was. Yeah, he's working Tombstone. I really liked him in Tombstone
because he's such a, again, a glue kind of piece. You've got Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer and some
of these huge personalities and everything. And here's Bill Paxton playing the brother and all
this and doing such a great job of like keeping that old glued and good together, great character actor.
One of the greater actors of all time, Dennis Hopper born in this day in 1936, passed away in 2010.
Dennis turned 50 on the set of the chainsaw movie and the cast made him a cake of the chainsaw
and stuff. And like just an interesting guy and just one of the more interesting actors of all
time too and one of the better actors of all time. Thinking of all the cakes I've made the years,
a chainsaw has never been on my radar. Maybe next year, maybe next year. And maybe not.
Likely not. No, no, probably not. Taking a quick look at Saturday, birthday is Jack Johnson is
49 on Saturday. Flake better together upside down. I got you and you and your heart. A lot of songs
he's done. The funniest person on the planet, I believe Tina Fey is 54 tomorrow. That's just my
opinion. I just think she's it's her and it's her and even better together. They are so good
together. Love them together. We just said, Anya was celebrating a birthday tomorrow. Well, Enigma
is celebrating a birthday. Sorry, Enius today. Enigma tomorrow. She is 67. She is behind the
Gringorian kind of chant song that was actually on like pop radio for a while there. If you
started to hear it, you'd know exactly what I was talking about. Let me see here. So George
Strait, obviously many consider the King of Country. He's had 60 number one hits, the most
number one hits in the history of music in any genre under any chart. Incredibly noteworthy.
And I love making and mentioning that stat any chance I can. He's going to be turned at 72
tomorrow and not slowing down. I kicked off our sunrise show today playing his newest single
that released overnight. It's a good song. It is a great song. He's still got it, man. I mean,
just keep doing what you're doing, George. It had joy. Have fun. You have earned it.
Reggie Jackson turning 78 tomorrow as well. And then just a quick glance at our Sunday
birthdays. Let me see here. Sam Smith, a popular singer, turning 32. One of my favorite singers. It
doesn't really do much singing anymore. Shooter Jennings is 45. Whalen's son. I really like his work.
Really like his style, the way he sings everything. Let's see here. And Pete Townsend 79 on Sunday.
Yeah, they got another one there. Yeah. Joey Ramon also would have been celebrating a birthday
on Sunday. And the great Andre the Giant would have been celebrating his birthday on Sunday, born
in 1946, passed away in 1993. Wrestling legend. Wrestling doesn't get where it gets without
guys like Andre the Giant. One of the more interesting personalities ever. One of the more interesting
stories you'll ever hear are stories about Andre the Giant and phasic from the Princess
Brut. I mean, you know, it's a phasic. If you're all star wrestling, doesn't work out for you. Yeah,
hey, getting that getting acting. I got the horses. I got the ho it's my fate. One of my favorite scenes
movie history. I got the horse. We just had that on the other night. My daughter's roommate was there.
Was that our hostage? I'm like, what are you watching? I could be just like Princess Bride. Oh my gosh.
Love it. Love that movie. It could never get enough of it. We won't get to our news break. But

But a story that broke this morning, Terry,
and I've been waiting for it to unfold
as much as they can before touching on it.
This is kind of wild.
And it's even wilder that it's happening in golf.
But Scotty Sheffler, the number one golfer in the world,
had an interesting morning.
He was detained by police before the start of the PGA
championship round two after misunderstanding a traffic flow.
He was trying to get around.
There were some ESPN reports that were there
and I heard them this morning talking about it.
He was trying to get around this.
He didn't realize that they were police vehicles
that he was trying to get around.
And he was promptly stopped.
They attached themselves to his car.
He tried to, another 10 for feet or so.
Finally stopped.
They got him out and put him in the back seat.
And as he's in the back seat, he's panicking a bit
and unsure what's happening.
And he's looking at the ESPN reporter and he's like, help me.
And the reporter's like, you're with police officer.
Like, this is getting arrested, man.
Like, dude.
And look, I don't make light of these things or anything.
Those police officers are doing diligence.
They're doing their job.
They did not know he was a golfer.
They did not know who he was.
No one golfer in understandable.
You don't know.
These aren't faces.
Most people might know what Tiger Woods is.
That's about, you know, they're in a whole lot of big list
as far as, oh, I can name that golfer just by their face.
That kind of thing.
Those officers did their job.
They did what they had to.
And it sounds like Mr. Schaeffler handled himself
as well as he could.
It's just he made it in time for someone to hand him his driver.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, and that's that that was the last note I just got here
about it.

See, he's there to do his job.
He's ready to work.
But the idea of not understanding what's happening
when you're being arrested is so forward to me.
I found it a little bit like, oh, to America.
Like, what's going on here?
Well, that's what happens when you do something wrong, sir.
You get arrested, no matter who you are.
And good on everybody for doing their thing there.
That's just what's interesting.
And then that is breaking news.
That is actual news breaking.
Maybe tomorrow will be better for him.
And for all of us, according to astrology,
the luckiest day of the year is tomorrow may 18th.
Because of the something called the Jupiter,
Kazimmy.
And I don't hope I'm pronouncing that somewhat right.
It comes from an Arabic word meaning in the heart.
And happens when Jupiter is in conjunction with the sun
or within at least one degree of alignment.
So it's not always May 18th.
It's when this alignment happens.
Yeah, yeah, interesting.
That means a degree away from lining up with it
from Earth's perspective.
If you were up to on Mars, it would be it wouldn't be special at all.

And we're going to go to the Mosley
and we're going to go to the cemetery where
mynata and my uncle Anthony and some other relatives
are there.
There's only two really main cemeteries in Chicago.
We're going to the one of them.
And then we're going to go back to my aunt's house
and all 40 some members of my family
are going to be in this one house.
It's a nice house, very nice house.
But I mentioned how loud my family is.
So at 236, you're going to go outside.
Yeah, exactly what I was going to say, Terry.
That is exactly what I was going to say.
I'll be making my exit at 235.
So I'm getting some air.
I'll be off getting some air.
I love my family.
I'm going to see a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time
and I'm looking forward to honoring my papa.
But this family, you know, you know how it goes.
And they know how it goes.
They're saying the same thing.
I mean, wait, is that what you told
that a rest story a few minutes ago?

It's going to be a trip.

There is a new McFlurry from McDonald's out there.
And it's trying to remind you of your grandma.
So McDonald's newest McFlurry flavor
is inspired by someone old, your grandmother.
Beginning May 21st, the chain is releasing
for a limited time, a grandma McFlurry.
A sweet new treat that mixes syrup, vanilla ice cream,
and crunchy candy pieces, which McDonald's jokes
is like grandma's favorite treat that she had in her purse.
Oh, really?
What kind of crunchy candy?
Yeah.
So here's the, that's great that you just said of them perfectly.
Teenagers are dressing like grandparents now a little bit.
Maybe that's where some of this comes from.
But it's, the McDonald's announced this new one,
and it's the grandma McFlurry.
It's a vanilla soft serve.
Crunchy bits, they say it tastes like grandma's favorite
treats in her purse.
So what is those treats, they're saying like worthers
or like a butterscotch taste it's got.
Oh, really?
Yeah, that's where they're going with it.
First of all, I'd be a little wary about
how long it's been in the purse.
Yes.
Yes.
You know, does it taste like perfume or other things?
Yeah, like a net or something.
Or something, you know, just from being in there.
That's kind of a strange thing to me.
Yeah, I mean, I guess it's, if you want,
okay, hey, we haven't done a butterscotch McFlurry
a while and you want to give it a fun name and everything.
I could see that part of it.
But I was expecting something kind of like
pushing the boundary a little bit
or a new flavor or something.
So when I was a kid, like the candy that I think of,
hard candy that I think of from my grandparents
or my grandma, is that, remember that old-fashioned ribbon candy?
Yes.
And it was in like a canister.
I mean, you can still get it at flea farm.
I think it's in a bag, but I remember that,
but that was fruity.
Yeah.
So that's why I was like, you know, this sounds kind of gross.
I think of that one and it's not so much a candy,
but my grandfather always had one of those little bowls
and had like four different sections for nut mix nuts.
Oh, nuts, yeah.
And they're like those.
I mean, we always were treat.
That was our treat.
If we did something right or we listened to him
or someone we could grab, we could grab.
We throw a nut at you.
Yeah, yeah.
No candy, nut like that.
Just hear some peanuts.
You know, also those pink, they were like round candies.
They kind of, he's like pepped open his mouth.
Oh, yeah.
And they were like chalky.
Yes.
I remember those being at my grandma's house too.
They were like, yeah, they were thinking, yeah,
those were good ones.
Trying to think of other grandma candies.
I don't know.
They were, oh, what about the multi colored ones?
They were just, they were a hard candy.
All of it was hard candy.
They were always hard candy.
And then you pick up one piece
and like 40 of them came with you.
But there was the kind, they, I didn't really have a flavor,
but there was like green, blue, red.
There was all kinds of different colors.
It does look like a little nugget kind of.
Yes, yes, exactly.
I don't know where people bought those,
but every grandmother had some.
I think you can still get those at Flea Farm also.
I'm pretty sure, oh, yeah, you probably can.
I'm pretty sure that once you hit a certain age,
you, in you are a grandmother, they are sent to you
in the mail.
That's how you get those.
I don't think you can actually buy them.
They just show up.
You know, I don't, maybe that's why I'm hung up
on the Werther's thing because to me,
like that's not far enough back.
I mean, Werther's might have been around forever,
but I'm just saying when I first started enjoying those,
I was not like a little, little kids.
So then, it's when I just don't,
I don't associate that with my grandma,
but interesting, this might be good.
I, I, I tried, I tried.
The grandma McFlurry.
I like the name.
I do like the name.
It is cute.
That's cool.
It's sticking with the food theme here.
They say IQ scores are falling,
and maybe this is a little proof, or not, or not.
People online are just eating full lemons now, peel and all.
What is going on?
I don't understand this, but the first part of this
seems really silly.
You might, you might want to try these if you can find them.
Some Tik Toka recently discovered a type of lemon.
You're supposed to eat whole.
The brand is Lemon Snack owned by an Italian company.
They're undersized lemons that are sweeter and less sour
and thinner peels.
Okay, so they got the food.
That's one of the things I was wondering is how do you
not through that?
Yeah.
She's, so there's some skeptical people out there
trying these, but they love, they once they try them,
they love them.
Then they sprinkle like salt or chili powder on them as well.
So that's part of what they like.
That sounds horrible with a lemon flavor, but to each their own.
The problem is they're not easy to find in the US.
The closest thing widely available is a Comquat,
which looks more like a tiny orange.
So people online have resorted to just eating
normal lemons whole, and some claim they like it,
even as their whole face pucker's up.
Did you ever think about how many stupid people there are?

You just think it's a good idea.
Let me introduce it to her.
That ain't right, segment.
Oh my gosh.
I don't know.
There was another trend earlier this year where people were
eating whole oranges, caked in cayenne pepper and stuff.
Like, what are we just bored with our food?
Is that it didn't, did nobody listen to their mothers and fathers?
Don't play with your food.
You're not supposed to play with your food.
Did you ever see someone eat a kiwi with the skin on?
No.
No.
Yeah.
Apparently, there's a lot of flavor in the skin.
It's more flavorful.
But I'd probably have to like get a little razor out
and shave it first.
Yeah.
Who wants to hair in their mouth?
Ah.
Ah.
No.
No.
I definitely shave it.
I definitely don't excuse me, Mr. Kiwi.
It's one of those little lint shavers you know,
like you use on your sweater.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I would shave it.
Like the first time I shaved, when I was 12,
no, nothing.
Like a little bit of water and soap.
Like God, that was the worst mistake.
I didn't want to bother my dad.
And I didn't want to, I thought like,
oh, I could do this.
Yeah, you've seen it a hundred times, yeah.
I've seen him shave a bunch.
You just throw some water out his face.
I feel like my face has never healed.
I've been, that's how I would shave that kiwi.
I don't know.
