It's only been a couple days. Yeah, we're gonna kick things off the way we like to. We're good friend Brittany talking to
a little mother nature. Brittany, what is our forecast for today? I have a feeling I can guess it's a little dark here right now. It is. I want to hear your crystal ball. It is a dark and stormy morning. It hasn't rained or stormed yet, but it's just like hanging low and just kind of looming gloomy. It looks like it really wants to like it's going to just burst any moment now. It's just going to start raining. You have that beautiful shelf cloud where it just looks ominous. Yeah, coming in. I love that. Sorry.
You know what? You're not alone today. Everyone's going to see this spaceship. I'm sharing right now. It's right on your back doorstep. You will first, of course, get some heavy downpours for about 10 to 15 minutes or so. It'll be a drenger from stronger winds with that first push. But after that, it'll lighten up. It'll rain for about a couple hours, two or three hours. And then we're going to get wind down and temperatures today. We'll climb into the upper 50.
60s to low 60s. And then we could see a few pockets of sunshine potentially. Then some more thunderstorms firing up later on this afternoon after three o'clock or so. Some of those have the potential to be strong to severe those with pack. Potentially hail, even heavier downpours and some ice to your winds. But a lot of the severe does want to stay further south in the state. That doesn't mean we can't see it into Wisconsin Rapids area as well. So that'll be later on this afternoon.
This evening, that'll be sparse and scattered. Otherwise, everyone's going to see this main push this morning. And it'll just last a couple of hours. But we are looking at a quarter of an inch to potentially a half an inch from this first one. Yeah, it's just starting to rain right now. It's just hitting the start to hit the window right as you were talking. You just started Brittany. That's kind of cool. This would be a nice morning to actually be in bed, right? Or like land on the couch. Yeah, let's just call it into this is calling everybody. Everybody good with that. Let's call it. I mean,

I got a viral trend. I want to touch on one. I also get into how many dog owners would rather take a long trip with their dog than their family member. Not too surprising. Those stats also got a perfect way to cut a sandwich. Is this the perfect way to cut a sandwich? We'll get into that. Got that one coming up for us. Well, McDonald's is up to something interesting. All of that coming up.
For you. And then there's the nine o'clock hour. Terry, I am excited about this. We're talking kids this morning. We're talking math stuff. I know a little bit about and I know nothing about. We have. We are very. I do want to send a shout out to Kelly Bluewell. Kelly is the gifted town. Gifted town coordinator for Wisconsin rep. Rapids public schools. She reached out to Pam and I about some kids in this tournament that they have. They have an annual math 24 tournament for fourth.
In fifth graders in elementary schools. And this year they tried something different. They expanded it to other area schools. We're going to talk to a couple of the kids today at nine o'clock. We've got Lily and Eastern joining us. Lily's from how Easton's from Woodside. Cool. It's going to be a lot of fun. Pretty great. Yeah, it's going to be really cool. We love talking with the kids. That is going to be a blast. Look forward to that at nine o'clock hour. Also have a little bit of entertainment news. That ain't right stories. Good stories of the day all coming up for you. Look forward to diving into all of that. I want to get into some United Way talk.
Talk with you Terry in a moment. But I do want to send a big, big shout out to Wisconsin Rapids public schools. Got to go to our old stopping grounds yesterday and go to Lincoln and taking the sixth, seventh and eighth grade tournaments and Lincoln high school band tournament and the drum drum squad that they have over there and. Oh, for the district wide. The district right band concert was last night. Okay. Cool. We were at soccer. I was outside. Yeah, you were outside. You were going to do that. I I haven't been able to go to one of those in a while. And I haven't been Lincoln since the
dairy breakfast I did with Bob. Oh, wow. A while ago. Yeah. So I didn't even think about that memories for you. A little a little colony. A little color. The offices are in a different spot. So you can get over that. It was interesting. I got there and immediately went to the principal's office. I don't know what I mean. You know, like a homing device. Just shout out to Lincoln. It was good to be the old stopping grounds and love that school. Just do. And it was it was really cool. It was nice to
I ran into Mayor Zachary. It was good to see you, Matt. I tried to take a picture and it came out blurry. I apologize. I was good to see him though. It was good to see a bunch of other people down there as well. And I just a gigantic shout out to these kids. I know the jokes. And they, you know, a lot of people know the jokes. You go to see a high school band concert or a junior high concert or something like that. You know, some of the kids aren't even playing and a couple of kids are falling down once a sleep at all those things. Not this show. It was great. Yeah. It's good.
Really good. These kids were on time. They were on point. I thought the drum line was very impressive, really impressive. They did a kind of a Tim Burton sequence that was beautiful. It was really well done. The timing was great. Just a great concert. Take these shows in everybody. They're free shows for one thing. You can't beat that. And they're very entertaining. And it's kids. I mean, I think that's awesome. They're very talented. Everyone of those kids. Yeah, they're looking for mom or dad or brother or sister out there.
They may be their friends, but what they see are strangers, a sea of strangers clapping, clapping for them, supporting them. That is building confidence. That is building our youth. That is our job as adults. And if your job is getting to sit there and take it to good music, that doesn't seem like a bad gig. Yeah, that's awesome. It seems like a lot of fun. Terry, I wanted to get into the United Way with you a little bit and give everybody an update on what's going on with all you guys.
I imagine you guys, I don't know, a couple of things. Yeah, there's a few things going on. So we are currently taking registration for stuff that ask, which is our school supply distribution registration. Open on May 1st. We already have 250 kids registered. Wow. Wow. So in, you know, less than a week. So registration is open until August 1st, but it is first come first service. As far as pickup times. So if you know you have certain availability, now would be a great time to jump on and register to qualify. You need
to qualify for free and reduce launch. So you can visit our website UWAC.org and you can register your children. Or you can call 211 between the hours of eight and five Monday through Friday. And they will also help get you registered for school supplies. We are also still taking teams for United. We can. So you can sign up to be a part of United. We can, which is on June 18th, which is a food sculpture contest building awareness around hunger in our community. And then we also are starting next month.
Monday, our diaper drive. So we are from Mother's Day to Father's Day. I'm having a diaper drive diapers wipes and then diaper rash creams or pace. And that is to, you know, really help those in our community that who have the greatest need, right? Our, our littlest community members. So we are accepting donations at the United Way office at 351 Oak Street here in Wisconsin Rapids again from Monday, May 13th all the way up until the Friday before Father's Day. So, that's the
fun way to give back to the community as well. It's another example of you guys listening to your community hearing a need and like, what can we do? You know, it's interesting because this happens all the time in society. We have an issue. We have a problem. And we usually ask politicians to fix it. They're like a couple years later. Maybe some happens. But are you United Way right at it? Right in the dump. I'm sorry. I had to. What I really appreciate is the listening Terry. You guys listen. You guys are hearing your community. And if it was done,
if it was diapers, if it was books, if it is early literacy, whatever it might be, you guys are listening. And it's very appreciated and noted. And we want to do what we can to help. So there's a lot of ways you can do that. Maybe you build a team together for United Weekend event or, or something. Maybe you have some diapers out there that you, you're picking up some for yours. Maybe you'll be able to grab another extra. Or you're fortunate enough not to have to buy diapers and wipes anymore. Right. And just take a stroll down memory lane and pick some up. It's, it's greatly appreciated. And you know,
especially if you have been in that position, you know how big that is. You know how much that can matter. You can't get enough diapers. So, you know, those kind of things to go much farther than I think words can take us. Yeah, absolutely. And it has been great. You know, the people we've been hearing from already, you know, when can we start dropping off or that kind of thing? And, and the other question, I guess as it surrounds that diaper drive is, you know, I don't really want to go shopping for diapers and bring a box of diapers to you. Will you take money? And we will. And we will then purchase diapers with that money. So that's what it
will be specifically used for. So, you know, however it is that it makes sense for you to give. We encourage you to get involved. Make it tough for me and the other judges to judge these things and help us. As if it's not hard enough. Right. Oh, it's always, they're going to be two and it'd be difficult for me probably. And so far local food programs, you guys have collected over 72,000 pounds of food for this event. Yeah. And just with this event. So, so that's really, it's really remarkable. Very awesome. But all pet owners can agree on one thing. Dogs are better on road trip than cats.
Well, you know, too, according to a lot of people.
You do see cats and people.
Yeah, yeah. Which I always think is very weird.
I don't think twice when I see a dog.
You know, this is, of course, like baking hot outside.
But, but just in general, but when you see cats in someone's car, I'm always like, wait a minute. What?
Every animal is different, but cats don't get the same kind of thing that a dog does and travel it.
They don't, they don't care about smells the way that dogs do and stuff.
And it could be a little interesting.
Yeah.
I've traveled with both animals before and both are very interesting to travel with.
In a new survey of dog owners, 92% 92% of them say that they drive with their dogs occasionally.
A lot of that is going to the vet, of course, in a groomer and those sorts of things.
53% of dog owners will drive their dog to a dog park or a place to go for a walk.
And 34% will take their dogs to the vet.
And that's what they do.

In fact, 53% of dog owners, over half who will drive with their dogs, say they'd rather take a road trip with their dog versus a family member.

I mean, I could care less, but it drives me nuts because then I'll go to get in the truck and it's covered in dog hair.

No, because he'll be riding in there again tomorrow.
And I'm like, well, I guess who's not riding in there?
Maybe it's by design, right?
I think it is probably by design.

32% say they'll bring their dogs in the car because they sometimes feel guilty,
but when they're home, 23% say that they think their dogs don't like staying home alone,
and 70% say that their dog is totally chill on car rides.
Every dog is different.
Every animal is different, just like every person is.
Most, we do this all the time with animals.
We project our feelings and our thinking onto them.

Dogs don't think the way we do everybody.
Like, they don't have these, like, you know, these hang-ups and these things that we do and stuff.
There is one of my favorite comic strips ever.
Get fuzzy with a dog and cat, satchel, and the cat.
And there's one where the guy's leaving every day, and he's about to leave.
And they're like, where are you going? He's like, I'm going to work.
What's work? It's like, it's where I go every day.
It's like, you don't just stand on the other side of the door?
No, of course not. Why would I do it?
Well, why do you think we bark at the door all day?
That's why we bark at the door.
We thought you were on the other side of it.
Surprise. They don't know. They don't have any idea.
And I have to say that we, especially as we're getting close to the summer and everything,
really keeping my- really ask yourself, are you bringing the dog because you think the dog is lonely?
Or the dog is lonely, or are you projecting that?
Yeah.
And can the dog last an hour without you?
Because bringing your dogs out in this kind of- not this weather today.
No, but when it's hot, yeah, yeah, you have to be safe about it.
There's got to be a reason for that to me.
You can't just be bringing the dog because, well, I wanted to bring a spot with me.
Like, what's the best for a spot?
Yeah.
That's the job of an owner.
Rex loves car rides.
You know, you'll say, you want to go for a ride?
And he's like, pfft out there.
But never, I mean, we never do that when it's hot out.
Yeah, yeah.
Unless we're not getting out of the vehicle.
You know what I mean?
Sometimes you're running the town and you're not even getting out.
But it is kind of funny because he's like all about co-piloting.
Yeah, I love that.
I love seeing a proud dog in the driver in the passenger seat.
I love seeing that.
At least they got one that doesn't shed.
They look like they have a map in front of you.
Pretty much.
They're helping the owner.
He either needs like sunglasses in a baseball cap or reading glasses in a map.

We keep giving them tasks.

Okay, so this is nothing.
This is just a dog and cat story.
It has nothing to do with taking them for a car ride.
But a friend of mine recently moved to Nashville and she works at a vet clinic, right?
So I mean, she's like all in for pets.
She has a golden retriever and she has two cats.
So she actually bought a cat stroller.
Okay.
And so she'll send me like, you know, pictures where she's pushing the cats.
Yeah.
But now she has the dog pulling the cat stroller.
Oh, wow.
Oh, that is talented.
Oh, good on her.
Oh, like what is happening here, lazy?
Maybe a little bit, but oh, very smart.
But it's so funny.
And I'm like, you know, I'm not sure you want to be the cat lady with your cats in the stroller.
That the, you know, it is, it is a reputation you build.
It is something definitely kids are going to talk.
And she's only like 32.
Oh, that's even worse.
Slater, like, I don't know.
I can't make fun of it.
If I would be the dog version of that and men if I could be.
I was a crazy dog guy.
I got all those dogs at that house.
Don't go over there.
And in the screen in stroller.
Yes, yes.
Um, I, uh, yeah, I don't know.
I kind of, I kind of dig that a little bit just because I love the idea of the cat here talking about projecting and everything.
The cat just getting the queen of Sheba vibe.
Oh, yeah.

I have a dog pole.
And then the, and then the stroller like, you know, catches up with the back of the dog.
So the dog's like, movie like, wait a minute.
What's going on?
It's, it's actually a pretty funny video.
It's got, I got, yeah, that does sound like it's a great video.
Speaking of great videos and viral videos,
Tiktok has made a life harder for food and service employees with menu hacks, viral requests, pranks, uh,
all of this.
And it's usually caught on camera.
So it, and the person's usually a high school or worker minimum wage or something like that.
So it's gonna be rough.
A Tiktok are named Mississippi Nima.
Great name.
It's great name.
Mississippi Nima posted a clip where she went through a drive-through of a sonic and only ordered a large doctor pepper with pickles.
What?
The clerk didn't even seem surprised.
She just noted that the added pickles were, would appear on the order as cherries.
Apparently ordering a doctor pepper with pickles is not, quote, unquote, normal enough that a worker didn't seem phased by it,
but add normal enough that the computer system wasn't programmed to have an option for adding pickles to a soda.
So if someone ordered, okay, if you're working the drive-through and someone orders a doctor pepper with pickles,
I'm putting those pickles right in that.
It is not in a little side cup.
And this is why Terry didn't work in the festival.
Sure enough, the woman receives it.
I would do the same thing.

Or put them right on the lid.
If you don't ask for it on the side.
Put them around the straw.

Sure enough, the woman receives a large doctor pepper with a handful of pickles inside.
She says it may sound gross, but, quote,
don't knock it until you try it.
She also said that a lot of people drink this.
Ew.

No, they don't.
So who are these people?
I've joked before when we were growing up, didn't have a whole lot.
But you know, kids, we're going to make toys out of anything and we're going to find snacks.
We're going to find a way to eat snacks.
And each my brother and sister and I had our things.
My sister loved pickles and loved pickle juice.
Yeah.
Like, Jillian would drink pickles.
Ah.
It's one of my daughters still does that.
Like, crazy.
I have to seriously like tell her I'm going to hurt her if she drinks the,
because she'll drink it down farther than the pickles.
I'm like, don't, because then the pickles get yucky or the olives, you know?
Like, you have to stop pouring it out at the level of,
or eat the food that's in there too.
I love the idea.
You go to the fridge and there's all these dry jars full of olives, full of pickles.
Like, what?
So, I mean, we all, maybe we all did do this.
Okay, but a lot of kids out there know what it's like.
When grandpa or dad had the Rupert Chopps,
and you put a little Dr. Pepper in there, somebody join her.
She ains!
I mean, I heard this.
I heard this for some people.

And we got just a little bit McDonald's is up to a very interesting thing
with their advertising.
We're going to talk in just a while about the top nine driving distractions
that can cause you to crash or something like that.
So we'll get into those things.
But right now, do you cut your sandwiches down the middle or diagonal?
What if both of those options are wrong?
Uh-oh.
Oh, boy.
A random guy in Florida named Ryan Duff posted a photo the other day of a grilled cheese sandwich
and said he perfected it by trying a different cut he came up with.
It's y-shaped.
So you end up with three pieces instead of two.
Oh, what a weirdo.
Yep.
He claims it provides the correct ratio of crust in every bite and says it's a hit.
Oh, no, it's a hilly's willing to die on.
Now other people are trying it and posting photos.
The site food beast even got in on it yesterday.
Fans are calling it the Duff Cut.
I don't think I need to show you up.
It was Duff wouldn't be like a can of beer.
You would think.
Yeah, you're nicely done.
Yes, that's good call by you.
Um, no.
That's what I don't just don't really get it.
So I feel like, okay, I mean, I see it, but it's just, I don't know.
So, you know, I granted try this if you like.
It's not a big deal.
You know, if you don't.
Yeah, we don't think.
But I, yeah, for me, um, I like the proportions.
I like the portions being the same.
Um, I, with the three cut.
You're getting a little, yeah, you're getting that little piece from the inside of the way.
And I don't need a, um, a little hill slice.
Like, I don't know what that, that's like, I don't know what that is.
I don't know.
I think it's a wedge.
Yeah, yeah.
It's kind of a wedge.
I, you know, it's very funny.
I have one kid that's diagonal cutter, right?
So her stuff has to be cut corner to corner.

And then I have another one that is a straight, but not like you're showing it.
Not from like top to bottom so that you have round, so you have matching pieces.
Yeah.
The other way.
So you have one rounded piece and one square piece.
Okay.
Oh, I'm not bad.
You know, I'm a crust guy.
I like the round.
I like that.
So I, I like the way that that's doing that.
What about in quarters?
I don't mind quarter sandwiches.
I've done that.

So that why is a little bit like that?
Yeah.
I, the other thing about this and, and, and I don't know this person, but I'm gonna, I'm gonna say they're single
or they have a lot of time on that.
Yeah, this is his like five minute claim to fame.
Cause no, no, uh, mom or single parent out there or anybody has got like the time.
To be, you know, let me just make sure.
I know that parents do go out of their way.
You were just saying how one you cut this way, one you cut that.
Yeah, but this is one cut.
Some kids like the crust off and all that and parents go above and beyond for those things
and a shout out to all of them for doing that.
But they're not doing this.
No, no, no, I'm not doing the why cut here.
This guy needs, this guy does stand outside the door the whole day.

What his dogs are inside barking.
Yep, yep, definitely.
He should get a life.

I really like, I don't know.
I don't know that I'd be proud of this either.
He feels like he seems very, very proud of this.
And I don't know that.
He just seems kind of weird.
First of all, if you just cut a sandwich different, what would compel you to tell people about it?

When we first started getting like texting and being able to send photos and all that,
like you do this and you want to text it to your buddies.
I got no problem with that.
Like, yeah, yeah, go right ahead.
Yeah, you share with them.
But not everything has to be shared with the whole free world.
Who cares?
You can keep things to yourself, everybody.
You don't have to share everything.
I don't know, I don't know.
This is a little bit like that, Terry.
This is one of those two AM ideas that you have and you're like, oh, I got a great idea.
And I'm like, by six in the morning, you're like, what was I thinking?
What did I write down?
Did I write down scented billboards?
By the time it's light out, it's like, oh, maybe not.
Yeah, well, apparently McDonald's just went through with this one.
McDonald's is debuting the first ever scented billboards.
Interesting.
Well, if it's in an area of foot traffic though, it makes sense.
I mean, not on a roadway.
For now, they're only in the Netherlands and it's a bit of a stunt.
The billboards don't show any ads.
They're just blank red or are yellow signs.
But they do have smells piped in and venting out.
They asked passers-by what they noticed and most of them said the smell of french fries.
That's kind of smart.
It's unclear if they're just doing this for a social media clicks or if this is something
that they're going to start rolling out everywhere.
But it seems like it's doing very well there.
So they will probably be bringing this to the States.
In the Netherlands, the billboards are being placed in areas close to McDonald's locations.
And I'm kind of trying to, so these are not your traditional billboards.
No, but you know when you smell something.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
What I was thinking though, you know, billboards, you drive and pass and they're up top.
Well, how are you going to smell that?
These are on the ground.
That's the difference.
Okay.
Now this is making a lot more sense.
It has the look of a traditional beer billboard, but it's on the ground.
Yeah, and I'm thinking they're probably a little smaller.
You know what I mean?
And it's in foot traffic areas.
Yes.
And as hilarious, these people are actually plastering their face on there.
Yeah.
They got the traditional yellow and red of McDonald's colors.
So they give it a little bit away there.
But I actually, I think the coolest part of this is they didn't even have to put up their sign.
They didn't have to put up the logo.
I mean, it's really cool.
There's no arch.
It looks like about the size of a big screen TV.
But did you see that?
They actually just put fries in there.
Oh, they, wow.
Like it wasn't like a canned smell.
It's not artificial.
No.
Yeah, yeah.
That's a pretty good idea.

I love it.
And I used this as an opportunity for us to introduce our newest marketing idea.
We're going to have a big billboard outside and you can come by and smell it.
Smell it.
It smells of the radio station.
It's going to be great.
It's just going to be me sitting in that box.
Just sitting in there.
Just sitting there.
And it's like getting the smell of people's feet.
I'm being told right now don't do that from Civic.
Civic is saying, no, no.
Okay, so we won't be doing that.
But we're going to try something else people.
I think that's genius.
It's kind of just like when you're at a...
Remember, remember when malls were a thing?
Yeah.
But like in the food courts people would be out there with a little sample or something.
You know what I mean?
And they, the smell would kind of get going and you try it.
Saying, I think it's genius.
It's not sustainable.
I wouldn't think in many areas.
But where you have foot traffic, I think it's awesome.
It's one of those things where I don't feel like the article was doing a good job describing it.
And once I actually see the actual thing, oh, that ain't so bad.
That makes a lot of sense.
It's pretty cool.

I have no doubt this will be coming to the States.
This will definitely be coming to the States.
It's a cool idea.
Yeah.
It's distracting drivers awareness month.
So someone had experts list the top distractions that can cause a crash.
And we've got the top nine for you right here.
Phone, phone, phone, phone, phone, phone.
I don't think these are in any particular order, but phone is number two on the list and should be number one.
Yeah.
Daydreaming.
So you're bored and just not paying attention.
That is certainly a major one for a lot of people out there.
And one that gets a lot of us.
I hope everybody can keep this in mind with this list.
And when we do things like this, this is not to guilt anybody or to shame anybody.
This is trying to bring a first off show that we all have these things in common.
And we have more in common than not.
And hopefully give you a heads up about these things that you, oh, you know what I do do that.
Man, I'm lucky I haven't hit anything.
I start focusing more or whatever.
Sure.
So cell phones, that includes texting and things like messing with your GPS.
That sort of thing.
A lot of stuff nowadays has where you can hook your phone up and you don't really have to be touching it or anything.
Or if you've got to, for five or a second, put your eyeballs on it.
It's right in the same lineup as your view.
So those are smart things.
But I can't think of anything.
Like nothing can't wait.
Right.
And.
Well, and when something happens, you'll wish you had let it wait.
Yes.
You know, I mean it's.
And, and I see this a lot, especially I've seen this with mostly with our generation Terry.
And the problem is not being able to put the phone down.
Well, I'm not saying that it's just our generation by any means.
Every generation has a little bit of this.
I've seen old people doing it too.
And I don't even begin to tell me that you haven't because I've seen it with my own.
But the next time you're driving, seriously, you pull up to a stoplight.
Yep.
That's it.
I mean, look at the person next to you.
They're likely on their phone.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And, um, we're going through growing pains with this.
This is a new thing.
You know, cell phones are not new, but we're still young in this learning this.
And we're going through growing pains with it.
And it's important to keep that in mind.
And it's important to put the damn phone down.
Just put it down.
You don't need it.
You don't need it.
There's none of that.

Distracted driving is distracted driving.
Right?
Like no matter what it is.
Before, uh, before the, I did this earlier this morning in my computer.
I dropped the page on me, of course.
But before, um, cell phones, we had car accidents.
You know, well, they were pretty bad.
Oh, sure.
We had quite a few.
So we already had enough distractions to begin with and everything.
It already had enough knuckleheads out there.
The cell phone thing is obviously rose that up quite a bit.
Um, keep that in mind and look out for each other.
Looking at stuff outside your vehicle, billboards can cause quite a few accidents,
especially if they smell good.
It's going to be real distracting.
Yeah.
Abusing stuff.
Oh, yeah.
Abusing stuff or lacking of sleep.
Uh, those count as distractions too.
So obviously, and obviously only, I mean, only cowards do anything and then get behind the wheel if you're asking me.
Um, you're not thinking about anybody else.
You're thinking about just yourself.
And there's no excuse, no reason whatsoever to get behind the wheel under any substance.
Reaching for stuff.
Yeah.
That's the one that gets me the most.
Yeah.
Like in the back seat.
Um, arms and they falls on the floor and the front on the passenger side.
Oh, it's just right out of reach.
And the thing about it is, it's tricky for somebody like me.
I'm all arms.
I've got these like stilts for arms and everything and my hands are huge.
So I feel like I can reach everything.
It's, oh, it'll just take me as, just take me as well.
And when you lean to the side, the wheel goes with you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Other, so this is one I could work on it.
I can get better about.
Um, other passengers, it's especially dangerous with teen drivers and their friends.
Um, now this is one I will get on the younger generation for and I will say that I did too.
You know, we, we were all like, a lot of us were like that as teenagers and stuff.
But it's all the more reason why you gotta, um, you gotta be the uncool kid.
So something that's different from when we were kids though is they have a graduated driver's license now.
So your first nine months that you have your driver's license, you can only have one other passenger.
That's non-family in the vehicle with you for nine months.
So I think that's really good.
I mean, I think it helps kids establish, you know, once they're finally in the car without mom and dad.
Yeah, it just helps them establish some good habits.
And I'm not saying that all kids are all families at, you know, adhere to that.
But it is, I mean, I think it's taken pretty seriously.
And a lot of kids, you know, just, you can only have one other person with you in the car.
Be patient kids.
There will be a day very soon where you will not only be driving with friends,
but friends will be asking you to drive them.
And friends will be asking you to pick them up from the airport.
And friends will be asking you to do this and this and this.
Take the win where you can.
Oh, I can only have one in.
I'm sorry. I can only have one.
I'm sorry.
Like, take it.
Take it.
Because many years from then, especially colleges right around the corner,
you're going to be having, hey, could you come pick me up from, yep.
It's going to be happening.
So enjoy it while you can.
Eating and driving.
It could be just as dangerous as texting and driving.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, especially it's not as if we eat things that are like easy.
They don't make a mess or anything.
Like you're eating a big Mac.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Exactly.
It's fries.
How many people have like a, like a lost fry hidden in their cover?
Everyone.
Everybody's got what?
At least one lost fry is out there.
The wilderness just messing with onboard systems, meaning things like your AC or your radio.
That's why you keep it right here at 97 five.
There you go.
Don't be switching it.

You have to worry about it.
I love the idea of one person out there.
Like, well, he's got a point.
I should leave it just right.
I just bust this knob off so that I won't say I don't turn it.

You got to worry about it.
No, none of that temptation.
None of those.

So, and finally on this list, although I want to collect a list as well from all of our listeners
out there, 715-424-2600, what for you locally is the biggest distraction?
I think these are all pretty good on the average and everything.
But every area has its different things.
I will tell you this.
Whenever I'm traveling, say example, I'm going to see Bree up in point.
I'm traveling up that way.
There's a lot of stretches where it's just woods or there's a cranberry patch or something like that.
And I love that stuff.
It doesn't do it as much to me anymore, but when I first started going back and forth up the point,
so it's kind of getting you on the daydreaming a little bit.
A little bit.
A little bit.
There's something about wide open spaces and a handful of trees here, something like that.
I just really catches my eye.
That could be distracting.
I could see that being one of those things locally that does get me, especially as it gets nicer and nicer out.
Fall comes around.
I'm a sucker for fall.
That one gets me real good.
So, yeah, that's definitely a distraction for me.

Hey, I want to back in the day, back when I was young.
Ah, you're pretty old.
Yeah, I'm old.
He's older than me.
I'm a year.
This is semantics.
When I graduated from high school, I worked on the bells.
And I was running shuttle.
And the biggest problem, especially when it comes down there, is people just, you know, they shut their brains off.
And I hate to see it.
A lot of the people, James, were from Illinois that would shut their brains off.
And they rubber neck.
Oh, look.
The water slide.
If I pay attention to what's in front of them.
I mean, there was probably one day at that time.
I saw probably from a half a dozen accidents of, especially, and it's big down to big down.
There's fender benders.
It's a rear ending.
You know, just people not paying attention, driving too fast, you know, gawk and rubber necking at another accident or something like that.
So, you know, that one, the bell is, they, they suffer a lot of accidents down there because of that.
Or, I mean, I've seen some accidents where people, you know, the pedestrians are running right out in front of the cars, trying to cross the road to get to the, get to the water park or to their t-shirt shop or whatever.
And I'd go on in the crosswalks.
It caused an accident there.
But I would, you know, that's just the thing.
It's like you said, you're going down some of these roads and just not paying attention and turning your head and all of a sudden, come turn it back and something's in your way.
I think we can all relate to the frustration of being behind somebody who's going 15 in a 25 or something like that.
Oh, yeah.
But there's never a reason to be rubber necked.
You know, you'll get there.
You'll get where you're going.
You're going to get there.
It'll be all right.
Just hang in there.
It's tempting.
I know.
But it's the last thing you want to do, especially that person driving in front of you, whether they realize you're doing this or not.
They don't seem to be a great driver.
Like, the last thing you should be doing is being right next to them as close as you will be possible.
I feel like, you know, you might want to distance yourself from that vehicle a little bit more, obviously passing them when you're able to.
The rules of the road are actually pretty good.
Like, they did a pretty good job with this, I think.
If we just stick to them, we should be all right.
You know, I thought to say that accidents can't happen.
And, you know, human beings can't be human beings.
But I feel like if all the things we pick on and poke holes on in life, rules of the road pretty good.
Like, you know, just pretty much stick to them.
And, you know, trust your instincts on that.
And get put the ding phone down.
Just put the darn phone down.
