Hour 1: Cereal! It’s good!

Mornings with WFHR · Wed Feb 28, 2024

Good morning, Wisconsin. Good morning, world. It's a new day. Thanks for kicking it off

with us right here at 97-5 FM 13-20 AM, WFHR, locally grown radio. 804 in the clock

got your host James J behind the mic. I am joined by our head of news, Melissa Kaye.

Good morning. Head of production, Seth Habagger. Good morning. And you guys are in charge

of everything else. We are supposed to get paid with that. Good luck with that. We need

our schedules. And I got some insurance conversations I need to have. So if you guys

can get in touch with them, I've been meaning to ask for a raise. Yeah, that's a good

idea. So we should probably get on that. While we're waiting for the listeners to get

back to us, let's go ahead and catch up with our friend Brittany and talk a little

mother nature with her. How are you doing, Brit? I'm good. What a weather 180 though. Wow.

Oh, kidding. A weather 180 in the last like 20 like hours. Like not even that like 24 hours.

We can't completely flip. In the time that we've talked last, Brittany, I believe if you

are playing weather bingo out there, you should have bingo. I mean, you really should.

I don't know how you can't. Oh, goodness. Seriously. Yeah. Yesterday Wisconsin Rapids hit

record high temperatures not only for the day, but for the entire month of February. It

was the warm it that we have ever gotten in Wisconsin Rapids. We hit 72. Wow. It's

incredible. We should we should have done that. Yeah. And now we are sitting with temperatures

in the single digits, but it feels 12 below that right there is an 80 plus degree temperature

difference from yesterday afternoon. That's it. I don't really have it. I don't think I've

ever had I've never said anything like that. So this is also a first for Brittany Marlowe.

That's right. I mean, there's things today I can only imagine that you you learn in school

and that you prepare for in this gig. Then there's this. Nobody could have prepared for

I imagined. Pretty. No, not at all. I mean, we saw everything from summer yesterday to

winter to tornadoes in Illinois. They're headed towards my hometown yesterday. Wow. Wow.

I was watching that. Yeah. Me too. And then a heavy, heavy snow squal just behind it.

I mean, visibility was down to near zero as that snow hit. And it all came down within

just an hour or two. Thanks. Wow. Well, what's a head for us? Yeah. Well, we're going

to go back to spring. Just one day of that we're done. Yeah. We're no. It's winter, which

I mean, it kind of a great way. Yeah. So yes, by this afternoon, right around lunch,

the winds are going to start to die down because they're gusting up to 30 to 35 miles per hour

right now. It's blowing and drifting that snow around. It's hard to even tell how much

we really got. But reports are coming in at about an inch to two inches. Anyhow, sunshine

by this afternoon, the winds will calm down. And by tomorrow, we're going to tap the 40s.

We'll hit the 50s by Friday. We'll hit the 60s by Saturday. We'll hit maybe even 70s

by Sunday. So she's right back. Wow. It is going to be an interesting couple of days.

That is for sure. I will see what other records we break and we'll do. We'll find out

together. Brady, thank you so much for joining us. Looking forward to hanging out again

tomorrow. I'm good. Stay warm. You too. You have a great one, Brady. We appreciate

her joining us. Oh, I meant to ask her where her hometown is. I remind me to ask her

tonight tomorrow. I want to know if she grew up anywhere near where me and my family

ran and stuff. Looking forward to talking with Brittany tomorrow. Looking forward to

hanging out with all of you. Today, we got a jam pack show for you. And just a little

bit. We're going to first we're going to talk cereal to kick things off and then we'll

get into our L. Cafe birthday anniversary club. Looking forward to that. That's going

to be a lot of fun. What is the percentage of us that would choose comfort food over

gourmet food? Along with that, 10 delicious meals. People loved as kids, but later realized

we're really weird and maybe we shouldn't eat these as adults. Or in other words, the

James menu. That's what it is. That's what we're calling it. I realized that as I was

saying it. How many unlucky events you will deal with in a year? We're going to cover

that one. We've got that coming up for you. It's Wednesday, so that means we'll be joined

by our friends from Quality Plus printing with our Wicked Awesome Word of Wednesday. And

we got a special show for you today with that. That's a special segment today with

that because we're going to be announcing a new promotion that we're going to be doing

with our friends at Quality Plus. We're very excited about. Looking forward to diving

into that and hearing what word Phil has for us for our Wicked Awesome Word. That's going

to be fun. After that, we'll have some fun. We'll take you up to the top of the 9 o'clock

hour. To kick off the 9 o'clock hour, our good friend Ashley Haginow, 76th annual, Alison

Dairyland's own going to be with us. Ash wants to talk potatoes. So I'm going to let

you guys cover that. No. And you like potatoes in the form of french fries. So you don't

buy boycott them all. No. Do you like hash browns? I was just going to say, actually I found

out that I forgot that I liked hash browns until like a week and we thought to get that

you like hash browns. I hadn't been around a bit a while, I guess. I started seeing

other potatoes. Yeah. We ran into each other. We're like, oh, hey, how are you? I'm okay.

How are you, bedded? It was really awkward. We talked in a while and everything. It was

like, how the family Ashley's going to join us in the 9 o'clock hour, looking forward to

talking to our own Alison Dairyland. We'll also get into a tiny bit of entertainment news

as far as world stories and all that. Drew Barrymore had something happen with her daughter

that we got to cover because it is a it is not only a wonderful story at a that a right

story, but a hilarious story. I was going to cover that. I also want to talk with you

to about this week in the glass managerie. Let's preview that a little bit for the audience.

After all of that, I've got 10 minor but frustrating everyday struggles that should have been

solved by now. Hey. Yeah. Yeah. It didn't get to that yesterday. No, we're going to solve

them. We're going to solve them today. We need an extra day to work that out. Yeah.

Any right stories coming up for you, including one of the Melissa sent over about family

dollar stores that I want to cover? Yeah. That's a little scary. Yeah. Yeah. I think I saw

that. We'll touch on all of this. And of course, we want to start things off on a good

note. So we're talking cereal cereal, right? It's right. Yeah. Seven one five four two four

twenty six hundred four two four twenty six hundred. Whenever serial comes up, I love

throwing this to the audience. What is your favorite serial? What is your go to serial?

You have a comfort cereal. Hmm. I found that a stonest cereal. Yes. Thank you. I think

that's better than comfort cereal. Yeah. I think I've only thought of comfort because

of the article that got coming up. But yeah, that's the way to put it. I discovered and

I haven't had frosted flakes in ages. But my dad got some the other day and I'm like,

oh, I haven't had those. I'll try those. And immediately it was like ten. Yeah. It's amazing.

I'm looking for the box, looking for Tony and all that. You're right. It's such a nostalgia

like I feel like some certain cereals give you. Fruity pebbles is mine. Oh, good one.

Good one. Nice choice. Nice choice. Seth, do you have them? You know, I was thinking

because I had all of those when I was a kid. Fruity pebbles were kind of a special thing

for whatever reason. We didn't get those very often. Well, no, because they're straight

up sugar. Well, we still, but we had the cocoa puffs and the the tricks, you know, and

the fruit loops and stuff. So we still had lots of, you know, sugary type cereals. It's

so fascinating because now I like avoid all of those. I don't like sweet cereals anymore.

Very often. Maybe once in a while. Yeah. As a treat. And then you eat the whole box in

one sitting. Well, I don't go that far. I don't know. Yeah. I don't eat that cereal anymore

either, guys. Yeah. That's great. Someone's got to eat it. I mean, what kind of adult

would you do that? Look in James covered right now. Please don't do that. Please. It's

like Jerry Seinfeld's dream covered probably. So is this just a money grab? Or do you

think it's actually okay advice? The CEO of Kellogg, who nobody knew until yesterday is

catching a lot of heat for saying you could save a lot of money by feeding your kid's

cereal for dinner. People have been tearing tearing into him on social media after he

said it on CNBC last night, quote, if you think about cereal for a family versus what they

might over overwise do, otherwise do, that's going to be much more affordable. He's not

wrong. No, it will be a lot cheaper. That's true. A bowl of cereal can cost less than a buck,

especially if you skip the Kellogg's and go generic. That's not what you want. Yeah, like that.

But obviously things like fruit loops, apple jacks aren't exactly healthy foods. Even one

of the CNBC hosts said telling people to eat frosted flakes for support for supper might

land the wrong way when consumers, but with consumers. But he didn't think so because

it already it's already something plenty of Americans do. He said he expects it to become

an even bigger trend as more and more consumers find themselves, quote, under pressure financially.

Kellogg's is already pushing the ID and ads. There's a recent one where Tony the Tiger

gets a family of four to chant cereal dinner over and over again.

Oh, wow. That's a little strong. Two really quick notes and I'll back off. But one, you

don't have to push that. It's already a thing. Just ask college students. Yeah. If you're

pushing it, it's only going to make it even less likely to happen. I feel like that doesn't

work. Did they think nobody realized you could eat cereal at any time of day? Yeah, it's

kind of a lame marketing. And I want to knit right out the gate here. I'm a Kellogg's fan.

I eat plenty of Kellogg cereal for, you know, any time of day. I've even been to the Kellogg's

like factory. Oh, really? Oh, I like. What was it? Well, how did you end up there? How did

that happen? My mom was at a retreat over there for a health food for her health. And we

were right next door. So he went in room. That's got a cool. The second part of this, and I did

not see the complete interview. So I don't know for sure. But from what I saw, I saw the majority

of the interview. And I watched it only because I kept on waiting for one of these hosts to say

what I thought right away when he said this. Well, that sounds great. It also sounds

great. Better pay. You're the CEO of Kellogg's, man. Like you can control this. If you're worried

about your, for your workers, for your employees, if you don't, hey, our, you know, other businesses,

you know, you got maybe your family might have to eat our cereal for dinner. Our employees

don't have to. There's an opportunity to then only shine that and say, hey, look what we're

doing for our employees and blah, blah, blah, blah, all that. Kellogg's is one of the,

should we have different standards for different companies? It's something that I've been thinking

about a lot lately, especially because we get just more and more money in politics and we can't

seem to get it out of it. So now it's just a matter of just kind of like taking the lesser of

evils when it comes to this stuff in our candidates. But when it comes to companies, they want

these companies. And this is, this isn't me saying this. This is a Supreme Court saying this.

We're supposed to consider them like people. We're supposed to consider them like that. So

should we have it? If it was a human being, we're going to put a moral compass on them.

We're going to expect certain things from them. So should we be expecting certain things from

companies when it comes to this stuff? I'm not saying that it would do any good. I'm not saying that

it would change anything or not. But if they're going to be changing their approach to business,

if they're going to be changing their approach to politics, I don't, I feel like we kind of have

to change the way we look at them. And the accountability we have for them. Melissa and I,

I think all three of us have talked about this as far as Coca-Cola and some of these companies

just destroying our planet. Where's the accountability with that? There's plenty of laws and

regulations. But they push that responsibility off on us. Right. Yeah. Yeah. And, and stop littering.

Recycle. Oh, really? How much, how much actually gets recycled?

Not a high percentage. Stop putting it high enough for soda and plastic bottles. How about? That's

the start. It's going to right start. Yeah. I might keep plastic out of the ocean. Yeah. Johnson and

Johnson could have saved thousands and thousands of lives had they gone to glass needles.

But they wouldn't because it wasn't affordable. They went to plastic. And it's one of these things

that we continue to struggle with in society where you've got organizations, big companies

that are trying to make a buck. And I don't begrudge them that. That's, that shouldn't be a dirty

thing. It's we live in a consumer society. We live in a world where you're supposed to try to get

on top. You're supposed to make money. You're supposed to have a good living. There's nothing wrong

with that. If you're good at something, you should be paid for it. And you did the more you make

the better you want. Hey, way to go. Nice job. You did a good thing. But the, the, the part that keep,

that keeps getting lost in this is when you get up there, you're supposed to put a ladder down.

You're supposed to make sure that everybody there coming up. And anybody heard the term trickle

down economics? Yeah. Are literally the three of us are whole lives. They've been pushing that

down our throats. And none of us have experienced it. No. And none of us is because it's blown. How much

is there wage is increased? And versus how much the federal minimum wage has increased? Yeah.

If somebody is trying to, uh, against you to believe in trickle down economics, they've also got

a pyramid scheme. They're trying to tell you the, basically, the same thing. It's just an upside

down pyramid. And one of the things that I'll trickle down economics. I feel necessary to mention is

why are they paying their fair share of taxes? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Why are there so many

dang tax breaks for rich people and rich corporations? Yeah. Yeah. And I understand this state

is actually dealing with this right now. You, I saw that this got, they backed off of this,

but a lot of people in a lot of representatives in this state were pushing for Wisconsin to be

similar to Florida and Texas in a no tax state. A flat tax state. A flat tax state. Well, like,

taking it full circle, how James started this conversation, because corporations have lots of

money, which they can give to politicians to get there, will enact it. Now to get back to Kellogg's

real quick, I had two things about this. First of all, when we were kids, okay, or when James and

I were kids, I don't know how much Melissa got to see of this. But you saw, remember the commercials

for kids cereals? Part of this complete breakfast. Yes. And they would show like, like toast and

milk and juice and fruit and stuff like that. If you took the cereal away, it would still be a

complete breakfast. That's one of my favorite things of all that. That's hilarious. I never

really thought about that. Second, Kellogg's has done this before. Do you guys remember the special

K diet? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Where they said replace a meal with special K and you'll get all the

nutrients. I mean, it was ridiculous. It was one of the dumbest things. But just to show,

this is Kellogg says a track record of doing stuff like this. So it's not new. You know how they make

it complete? Because I saw this at the museum. Oh, okay. They spray on the vitamins.

They're fortified. Yeah, they actually showed it. They spray it on. Wow. Wow, that somehow

gets into your body. But you know, I mean, the one other thing I had that I wanted to add was,

you know, he can't raise his employees wages because that would raise the press of the cereal.

So, you know, he's keeping his wages down to keep this price of cereal low. So you can have it

for supper. American public. How does that argument work with when we have inflation? Like, you know,

I mean, it has never made any sense to me. Well, if you're if you are a three person business,

sure, if you've got like four you and four employees or something like that, I will listen.

I will hear you out. But anything, you know, 30 plus of as far as employees and all that,

you are a fortified business. If you want to survive, you should be able to pay your employees well

and better than average. If you want to keep have good employees, miss me and forget,

I'm tired of the whining and complaining about there's not any good workers out there.

There are thousands and thousands of good workers out there. They're just not taking less than

you're willing to give them. They want to be paid their worth and not like exceptionally paid.

Pade their worth. Fairly. Fairly. For the work that they're doing. But why do we have inflation?

I know it's a complicated subject and it's it's a complicated issue, but I think at the top of

that list, I could point to CEOs companies price gouging economic. By the way, I don't know if people

know this like standard mainstream economics has no theory of inflation. Yeah. Yeah. They don't know

what causes it. It's wild. So this is keep this in mind when they keep telling us we're we're

fighting inflation. Blah blah blah. No, you don't know what you're you'd have no idea what you're

doing. They don't know they don't know what inflation is necessarily or how to how so how could

they know how to fight it. Yeah. And that's that's not just them. That's society. That's all of us.

All of us are still figuring that out. Yeah. We get so caught up in today. We forget sometimes as a

country as a as a we are a teenager in the scheme of things compared to other countries. We

haven't been around that long. And then you look at the fact of democracy. Democracy has not been

that around that long. Our democracy here in America, the way we are doing it, the way we are

running this government and this country and everything. It hasn't been that long. There isn't that

much data. We got to figure a lot of this stuff out as we're building the boat as we're on the

water. A lot of these things. And I think that needs that for one, we need to have some grace with

each other when it comes to that and some damn accountability. I cannot win. I'm all for nostalgia.

When's accountability going to come into fashion? When's that going to come around? I'd love to see

that day. That that seems like it'd be a pretty cool day to me. I want to keep up the phone line.

That keep the phone line going on keep the conversation going with the cereal. If you got a

favorite cereal out there, 715, 424, 26. I hope someone just tuned in when we're talking about

that. They're like, what, what, did we get them a Glockland group? What is this?

I asked you, Morty Kundraki. I'm a Kukka. You're on the boat. Next, coming up more.

L. Cafe birthday dinner for a short club. The boarding show at WFHR.

It's time for the birthday and anniversary club with our friends at L. Cafe. Go on and

visit our friends at L. Cafe. There are 221 Market Avenue in beautiful port Edwards.

to see your smiley, cheery cheeks faces. Cherry cheek faces. That's great. Cherry cheek face. That's

really going to like that. They have, oh, okay. They've got a breakfast special French toast combo.

Two pieces, two eggs, sausage, a bacon for 12 bucks. I'm going to go do that. Okay. All right,

really good. It does. Visit our friends at L. Cafe right now. Let me live vicariously through you.

Be sure to follow them on Facebook as well. It's a great follow and a great way to keep up the

date and all the good things they're doing over there. Whoever does their Facebook is really good.

Yeah. They got a good job. Shout out to them. Whoever is doing that, that you're so right,

man. They do a great job. We are getting near and nearer to the end of the month. Now,

some might think this is the last day of the month, but no, we have one more day. Someone had to

add a fraudulent day, I guess. Yes. A fraudulent day. A fraudulent day. We will get into leap year

tomorrow and talking about leap day and some stats and fun about that and everything tomorrow,

because we are a morning show we have to. We have to do that. But we will, we will have some fun

with that then. But keep in mind that on Friday, we're going to be announcing our winner. I believe

I first or our second win or only our second winner for the LKFA. That's right. All right. That winner

or winners will win a $2 20 gift certificates from our friends at LKFA and a big thank you to them

for that. Let's go ahead and grab ourselves a qualifier for today before we do want to remind you

to get us those birthdays and anniversaries. Keep, keep, keep, come to us, everybody. Info at WFHR.com,

James.mailafetsinvigmedia.us. You're going to go as a course direct message just on our Facebook

pages. Type in your search bar WFHR, WIRI, like the pages. Direct message just that way. And of course

Teleprompter. Teleprompter. We have these cute cars. Can't you read? Oh, sorry. I have no idea what

I'm going to say next. I know he can't read that. I should read that from here. I can't.

If you're listening to us on the civic media app, go ahead and just touch it you away from

reaching us. Go ahead and download that wherever you get your apps. Otherwise, you can dial

on your rotary phones, 715, 424, 2600. I love it. And I hope it is from a rotary phone. I really do.

Oh, I really love it. Well, these new headphones chords make me think of it. They do look like

the old telephone chords. Yeah, that's true. Then I keep wrapping my finger on it. It cuts off

the circulation. Just like you're all the way back to your phone. I am. I won't say that that was

also the first thing I thought of. Sorry, sorry. I need a one through three from, oh, you've got

off tomorrow. Oh, off from us tomorrow. Yeah, you don't have to put up with Seth and I tomorrow.

That is kind of a vacation for her. I got to say. Yes, or she's certainly going to be working

her tail off tomorrow as she always does. Give me a one through three Melissa. Let's go, too.

All right, gives us that qualifier. We can get right into the celebration. We want to wish

you a really, really happy birthday to our good friend here. He may not work here anymore,

but he is always WFHR. He always will be Mr. Jeff Seagler. Yeah, happy with the Jeff.

Long time coworker here at WFHR worked with Jeff in a couple of stints.

I'd make the argument. He's the best salesman I worked with. Jeff was good.

It wasn't just that he came up with fun ideas and worked well with our team. Yeah,

we butted heads here and there, but you do that with all kinds of people. Jeff was like an older

brother to me in that way, but also very supportive. I got to try my hand at sales for a while

and Jeff trained me and I was horrible at it. But I wasn't horrible because of Jeff. Any way

it was good at it was because of him and I learned so much about that business and that job.

I think my favorite part, though, was pop it around town here and the places Jeff would go and

how welcome he was and how it wasn't like I figured he'd be going into these places as a salesperson.

He was going in there as Jeff. Nice. And I think that's a big part of sales. I think that's a big

part of being a genuine. Building relationships. Exactly. You also have to give, if you love

this station, you have to give credit to Jeff because there's no way that we're around without

people like Jeff, like without our sales team, without our marketing team. We are incredibly

invested in that and in this community. And we are because of these sales people that have made

great relationships over the years that we've had businesses that have worked with. I think

Jeff was the family. I think family and natural foods was his account. Things like that, you know,

where they're still working with us. Yeah. I'll shout out to Jeff. Hope you're having joy and

retirement, sir. You deserve it. Have a happy birthday. We also wish happy birthday to Joshua

Williams. Happy birthday, Josh. Happy birthday, Joshua. Enjoy your day. Hope it's a great one,

for you. And our qualifier celebrating her birthday, Molly Bailey. Happy birthday, Molly.

Happy birthday, Molly. Congratulations. It's a good name. Molly Bailey. Happy birthday to you, Molly.

Happy birthday to you, Molly. Let's go ahead and take a glance at our celebrity list. It's not a big

one. There's not a ton of names out there, right? For today, let's see here. Pat Monahan is 55 lead singer

of train. Drums at Jupiter. Hey, soul sister. I don't know if they had a third hit.

Sing say he sings in the stratosphere. He's got a really high voice. Yeah. My goodness. Yeah.

Raidon Chung is 63. Tommy Chung's daughter. She starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and

Commando. She was in the color purple. I had the most gigantic crush on Raidon Chung. I thought

she was the most beautiful thing ever. And she was such a good actor too. I thought she was really

good. I was a little surprised that she didn't kind of continue to work. I always thought she was

a good enough actor that you have a good career. Sorry, I'm laughing because she was in a movie,

a little movie called City Limits. Yes. That was an episode of MST3K. It might be my favorite episode

of all time because the people that are in that movie, I mean, you got Raidon Chung. You've got James

Earl Jones is in that movie. You've got Robbie Benson in that movie. That's right. You've got

Dean Devlin in that movie. Yes. I got to rewatch them. Dean Devlin, who later produced

Independence Day and then and all these other movies with Roland Emmerich. It's just it blows my

mind with this cheap movie. I don't know how all these people ended up in it. Mitchell. I think

Mitchell might be my favorite. That's close. That's up there. Talk to me up there. Cindy Wilson

is 67. The B-52s lead singer. Love shock. Don't why? Of all the songs. You know the head better was

Rome where you want. Thank you. That's good one. Thank you. It was a rock lobster. That one's almost

as bad. Oh, I love that. I do like Rome. I do like Rome. That's cool. So I can do like that one.

Great singer. I love the hair. Cindy. Love the hair. Yeah. Yeah. A great singer. Great

singer. I would say maybe my favorite character actor of all time, John Tutoro is 67 today. Wow.

Pete, no brother. We're out now. Pino and do the right thing. Seymour Transformers. He was

Carmine Falcone in the newest Batman movie. He was Monks brother on the TV show Monk. That's

where I'm recognizing him. Just one of my favorite people of all time. I love, love, love John

Tutoro. John Tutoro needed a kidney. I would just ask where to go. Yeah. Favorite of the

Cohen brothers. That's kind of where he got his break was with their early movies too. So

an interesting and I don't say this lightly. Maybe my favorite female character actor of all time

is Bernadette Peters who is 76 today. My favorite voice is ever, ever. Just one of that one of the

greats of Broadway. I think you, Seth, because I think that there's a portion of the audience that

has no idea the respect that she has because she did a lot of her work in comedies and I don't think

when it comes to comedies, people are willing to give a lot of respect. But that is like a theater

darling. That woman is one of the girl all time greats. Yeah. Like she's up there in goat's

status in Broadway and all that. Also some of my favorite chemistry and comedy history is

her in Steve Martin. Yes. I know it is a bad movie now. I know that it's probably canceled,

canceled or cancelable. I love the jerk. I just love that movie. I know quite a few friends

of I who are African American who love that movie for more than I do. It's a classic and part of

it is obviously Steve Martin's performance. But Bernadette Peters, she plays off him so well.

Where he's playing dumb and she's like playing a different type of dumb. But it's just weird.

They just so they make music together when they work together. They're incredible act. I love

anything Bernadette has ever done. Mario and Dredi is 84 today. Wow. Yeah. One of the greats.

One of the great race car drivers of all time. And then some people no longer with us like the

great Gilbert Godfrey born on this day in 1955. Pesto Wayne in 2022. Most people will remember him

of course from Aladdin. But a lot of us grew up watching him in the stand-up comedy and other

things. One of the most original voices ever. Ever. Frank Bonner born on this day in 1942. Herb

on WKRP in Cincinnati. I can't say it without singing it. I have to. I have to. I can't. I've tried.

And I can't help myself. You know us radio folk. You know, there's so few shows about radio

that we got to cling on to all of that we can't. Absolutely. That's one of them. Just watching

just watching WKRP and Frazier back to back. That's all you can do.

Gavin McCloud born on this day in 1931. Captain Stubbing. Yeah. I love both.

You're a Tyler Moore. You're a Tyler Moore show. Yeah. That's the one I always try to make

sure to remember. I remember I didn't see Mary Tyler Moore too much. I did see love

boat as a kid in the 80s and everything. But that's the show. That's the the performance

that most people remember from. Yeah. Bubba Smith born on this day in 1945. NFL legend Moses

High Tower in the police academy. Boopies. Oh dear God. He thought in it. You need just

went with it. You know, I love seeing former football players and getting the acting. Yeah.

Yeah. Speaking of Mitchell and Merlin also. Yeah. But I love when that happens. For one,

there is no real retirement plan for athletes. And it's cool to see them have a landing pad.

But it's also like I think no worthy when you see that these guys are like a lot of them are

pretty good. Love to do a really good job at everything. I think that's kind of cool. Charles

Durring born on this day in 1923. One of the all-time great actor actors. The singing governor

in the best little house. He was also one of the brother route. He was also an old brother route

though. He was in so many movies. But many people remember him as evil doc hopper in the

mumpet movie. Yeah. Yeah. That's important to note. Man, he was in so many films. My gosh.

And that is going to do it for our list for today. But we wish you very happy birthday to

everybody celebrating out there. Congratulations and a happy birthday to our qualifier, Molly Bailey.

And also happy birthday to Joshua Williams. And of course our friend Jeff Seagler. Happy birthday

We're going to check up. We're going to get updated on news when we'll come back and have some

more fun. We've got a good one coming up for you. How many the percentage of us that would

choose comfort food over gourmet food? Coming up on the morning show here at WFHR.

Welcome back everyone. Morning show here at WFHR. Locally grown radio.

It's just too sad. I can't do it. I can't. I can't. No, it's don't dream. It's over James.

You're right. It's actually a happy song. Yeah, you're right. No, the deluge in a paper cut man.

That's that's a sad lie. That's that's an emo line. That's it. But still it's a great line.

It's a great line. It's a great line. And it may be the most emo line of all time.

Melissa said that James here with you. Thanks so much for kicking off your Wednesday with us

everybody. We got great fun things lined up for you throughout the show today. We are going to

get into we're looking forward to being joined by our friends from quality plus printing.

We got Alison Darryl and zone Ashley Hagenau joining us in the nine o'clock hour.

Gonna be a lot of fun. Wow. Full Wednesday today. Yeah. Good news. Yeah.

A new survey asked people if they had to pick a lane. Would they rather have gourmet food or comfort

food for the rest of their lives? That's a crazy question. I hate these rest of your lives

questions. Those are just weird. Yeah. And what like why do we do this? I admit that I'm not a big

what if guy. I'm not a big fan of that. It doesn't really entertain my imagination or anything.

I find it kind of like just boring to be honest. But I don't begrudge anybody that does it. I mean

they made a whole Marvel series out of what if a lot of what if people out there and a lot of

people love these kind of questions. These putting you in these scenarios of you could do this or

because it gives you the illusion of choice. Yeah. Is that is that I generally think you've got

your on this there might be something with that. Yeah. Something popped right there when it clicked

when you said that Melissa like it. Maybe that's part of what why I don't like it because I'm

I'm as crazy of an imagination as I have I tend to be a realist and I don't like these kind of

there's no scenario in life where somebody's going to come to you and you have to make a decision

gourmet food or comfort for the rest of your life. Who's going to enforce this? Who's

who's in charge of this? Who's making it? Who's getting me the food? We have to you know that there's

there's the reality that we all live in and then and then we have to have this fantasy world that

we can enjoy and imagine pretend that somebody at some point in your life James is going to walk

up to you and ask you that question. I can't wait. I have no idea how I'll answer it. We will get

into that when we come back. Let's go ahead and join our friend. Yeah. That's nice.

Clific. Let's be joined by our friends from Quality Plus Printing with our Wicked Awesome

Word of Wednesday. They join us every Wednesday in this time slot. Phil, how are you?

Yeah, doing well. A little cooler. Just a touch. Just a tad. It is a little cooler out there

today Phil. We appreciate it. Good that you didn't have to drive in today. It was a good day to call

it. It was a good day to call it. Yeah, right. I just ran next door to the store next door to

us. There's some oversupplies. So I'd be ready for that. There you go. Nice. And man, I'm still

feeling the pain. Yeah. Running nothing. 100 yards or less. Can't imagine. Yeah.

There's blue skies. Yes. Hey Phil, I want to do actually before I know the audience is looking

forward to our Wicked Awesome Word of Wednesday. We'll get to that in a moment. Before we do,

let's go ahead and kick off this new promotion that we are doing along with our friends at Quality

Plus Printing. Who's your hero? Let's talk about this Phil. Yeah. So yeah, thanks so much. We're

going in there. Yeah. Well, what was the new side business we got going here called Wamming

Incorporated. Now we're going to be printing on t-shirt any kind of fabric really. And we're just

getting going on it. And I thought it'd be a neat thing because the logo and things that I

went to like superheroes and that comic book type of logo and with a Wam being the name.

It's pretty neat if we can lean into that and like and have people nominate for like about

the words of one of their heroes in their life. But for any reason. And we'll get them a free

t-shirt if they get picked. And so we want to do this on a monthly basis and we'll have people

email it into us. And we'll pick a random winner. And in tell their story. Nice. You can use

the radio station with you guys. You know if we can tell a little bit about them and then we'll put

it out on social media as well. Of course, in every kind of media we can get it out on using our

technology. And get people's cool stories out there. And we'll give them a free hero high t-shirt.

And they'll be part of the class of 2024. Hero high. I love it. So we're looking forward to doing

this. And we're so I was so really happy that you guys are joining with me on this. And

and with our crew because I think it's anything. And really cool stories out there about people

that are making a difference. Right. And at least it could be local. It could be further away. If

you want, I can mail to you. Sure. That's effective your life in a positive way. Right. Give

a little story. You know, let's give people in first off Phil. Thanks for you and your team coming

up with this idea. Any opportunity to highlight our community and local good stories. We're all about

that. That's exactly what we're all about. And we know you guys are two system. Perfect match.

Let's give people an example. Okay. So let's say, hey, you know, my mom, I think my mom's awesome.

My mom is amazing. She's an incredible human being. And am I saying that just because I know she's

listening this morning and I need the points desperately. Yes. Maybe. But it doesn't change the

effect. No. So, so I look at her t-shirt. She deserves one, man. Hi, boy. Does that woman deserve

a whole wardrobe? I had this idea. I write something up about my mom. I email it to you over

a quality plus. And she gets in the running with other names. Is that how this works for the month?

Before the month. Yes. Yes. Thank you. We have for the mountain. And what we'll do to James,

if, you know, we're going to try to pick him randomly. I'm not going to, you know, try to judge

those heroes better out there. Obviously, they're all going to be great. Yeah. Yeah. But that

being said, we'll keep them in the running for the next month as well. So I don't want people to think

they have to put it in every month, but not to come up with a new person. Sure. But sure, it's really

cool idea. That's really cool. We'll keep all the entries, you know. Yeah. And they'll have a

chance at the next month as well. That's awesome. Wonderful. And Phil, when can people start sending

those to you? Yeah. I say, let's go. Let's do it right now. Let's kick it off. All right.

Kick it off today. Let's do it. All right. I like this. I like that. That's awesome. Phil, you're

the best. The email for WAM Incorporated, which we'll want these to come to, but if they come into,

whatever way they come into us, we'll take it. But WAM Incorporated is email. It's just WAM Incorporated

and we're expeling right WAM INK OR POR 18. I hope I got that right. Going off. I'm

looking at it. When you got it right, you got it right. INK, INK, WAM Incorporated at gmail.com.

And if you if you need that address again, if you need an update on any of this information or

anything, please reach out to us here at WFHR stop by quality post printing and ask them about it.

Yeah. Yeah. We'll get it to you. Like I said, if you, whatever way you can get it to us,

I mean, if you go on quality post printing, as I said, WAM Incorporated has a website too. But those

those email addresses are all on there and whatever way you get it to us, we'll get it entered in.

That's awesome. And this is going to be a really cool promotion, Phil.

We're going to find a lot of heroes out there. I have no doubt. Phil, we have made the audience

wait long enough. What is our wicked, awesome word of Wednesday? Okay. So I'm going to try to use

the speaker to make sure I pronounce it right on the map. Oh,

go ahead and get on with it. Light Gabor. Light Gabor. Light Gabor. Light Gabor.

Light Gabor. Light Gabor. Light G-E-I-T-G-E-B-E-R. So, light Gabor. So I had to use the, you know,

the dictionary internet spell to pronounce it. Yeah. All right. Me too, man. Yeah, I would have had to do.

So it's a natural phenomenon that attaches a cue for your body. So the big example they give you

is light, right? That people as light as a light Gabor, they're like, see you wake you up,

make your body get back and stream them. Wow. Something that throws on your biological rhythms,

you know. Okay. So light and darkness. So darkness. Yeah. There's a lot of people that have,

you know, have a, during the winter, have trouble with, you know, with a dark too much tomorrow.

Mm-hmm. That's awesome. Also sounds, it sounds also like it would have been like an 80s villain,

like an in-G-I-G-O or he-man or something. We have to stop zeitgabor.

It's just, that's a great name. He's brought eternal night. No, no, it's not his

will. We've got a character already built. But he's got to keep explaining his name, though. That's

the problem. He's like, what is that? What does that mean? People are always mispronounced.

Yeah. It's a good word, Phil. That's a good one. It's always a good segment when you join us.

We appreciate the time. Let's remind people again, not only about quality,

plus, but where they can send those emails for their heroes. They're recommended.

They're hometown heroes. They find. Yeah. So WAM, Inc. Corporated, I-N-K. So WAM Inc.

Corporated at gmail.com and bring it on. If you had someone that's made a difference in your

life or, you know, when we get my t-shirt and hopefully we'll get a picture of them in it,

we'll really celebrate it. Yeah. And, you know, I'm a little bit up in that. I'm hoping,

James, and we got to talk a little bit more, but I would speak to them in some kind of segment.

Absolutely. Yeah. No, that's something that I was thinking of too, Phil.

I think that that's a really great idea, too, to add to this. And we appreciate being able to

be a part of this. So I think one of the things we can do is offer some on-air time with this,

with this future hero and talk with them a little bit about why they were nominated.

And they're probably going to be a Midwesterner, so we're going to have to, of course,

force the compliments on them and, you know, and everything. But that's something I actually

bring that up in part because it's important to highlight our people. I love our Midwest people.

And one thing that I love about us is the way that we kind of do for others. We don't really

think about a lot of ourselves in that, but that has a catch to it when it comes to things like

this. So we have to nominate them. So you know heroes out there, get those names together,

write up something nice, and send it to Phil in the gang again. You can send it to

WAM Incorporated at gmail.com. Phil, thank you so much for the time.

Oh, thank you, guys. Have a great day. You too. You too, Phil. Phil, join us next Wednesday with

another wicked awesome word of Wednesday, the zeitgeiber of words. Join our friends over

quality plus printing. You can ask them about that new promotion. You could talk to them about

any of the printing needs you might have at 3515 A Street South in Wisconsin Rapids.

That's 3515 A Street South in Wisconsin Rapids. Also, give them a call, 715-423-744-0. It's 423-744-40.

And be sure to like their Facebook page. Great way to keep up the date and all the great things

going on with our friends at Quality Plus printing. Getting your words out here in Wisconsin Rapids.

I'll be joining us next week with more great words. We'll take a quick time out. We'll come back

more fun and we'll continue that conversation. We'll get back to the conversation about comfort

foods and all that. Coming up on the morning show at WFHR. Welcome back, everybody.

Morning show here at WFHR. Easy listening. No, this is the interpretive dance segment. Oh, yes,

that's right. That's right. Got to sail away. I want a techno version or like a hardcore like

a high person with this song. E-M-D or EDM, sorry. E-M-D. Melissa, Seth and James here with you.

Getting you ready for the top of the hour where we're not only going to be joined by our

news break, but we'll also, of course, be joined after that by our friend Ashley Haginau, our 76th

Alice Dairyland. Yeah. Talk a little potatoes with Ashley. Taters. She's going to join us for about

10-15 minutes somewhere around there. We'll hang out with her for a little bit. Afterwards,

we'll get into some entertainment. I want to talk about the glass manashery premiering this week

and some other great stuff like we'll get into. Where is it here? Oh, God, that's a,

that any right store we're going to get to. That's a bad one. We have 10 miners, but frustrating

everyday struggles that should have been solved by now. That should have been solved by all of you.

Not even tater tots. James, not even tater tots. Not even tater tots. No, really? Wow. They never

get, they never get crunchy enough for me. In the, the insight is always like, I hate

uncooked tater tots. Like the outsides cooked with the inside ain't. There's nothing like cold

potato. Oh, cold potato. Not a potato salad fan. A new survey asked people if they had

big a laid, would they rather gourmet food or comfort food for the rest of their lives? Well,

70% of people said that they'd prefer comfort food, 16% said gourmet food. They didn't really

define each, but it sounds like comfort food was more like chicken wings, pasta, pizza burgers,

et cetera, et cetera. The stuff we all eat every day. Exactly. Yes. Yes. While gourmet food was

more like the stuff you would get at a fancy restaurant. So yeah. So basically how we already eat,

I guess. Yeah. And some people would be willing to go to extremes and to eat their favorite meal

of all time. 40% of people would take a 20 hour flight to get it. 17% would bike 300 miles to get

their favorite meal. And 14% would walk 200 miles to get their favorite meal. Do none of these people

cook? Why did they have to travel so far? We've gone back to Hunter Gather Society. That machine

over in the corner there and you're kitchen, that's an oven. You can use that. That's got

burners on top. That's neat up. Yeah. That's a great invention. Kettles on them. If I can't

interest you in that, can I show you the microwave? Yeah. It's even easier. I don't necessarily

get that one. But I've never been a big gourmet food guy. I really think that the way you grow,

like the way you grow up in your palate, like a lot of that you stick to. No matter how much

you're right, money you get or if you had a ton of money, I wonder if it's the opposite because

I don't obviously don't know. If you grow up and you're eating gourmet food your whole life and

everything. I don't know if you get older and you don't have that bank account, you can afford

that anymore. I mean, do you adjust? What do you do? What is the generic? Is there a Sam's Club

or a Walmart generic version of, you know, S-Cargo? Oh, it's a caviar? Maybe? I don't know.

Yes, it's called food poisoning. It was so odd today.

What would you do, 715-424-2600? What would you prefer? I mean, I think it's pretty clear what I

would eat, but I'm already eating these other comforts. The things that the very small menu that you

do eat. Yeah. I'm actually no fun for this question whatsoever. I would say that it depends on

what the gourmet menu, like, can it be anything? Because if you say, well, you can't have comfort foods,

well, you can make mac and cheese gourmet. Yeah, that's a great point. Just use gourmet

cheeses. You can have mashed potatoes and gravy as a gourmet food. It's just going to be a much

smaller amount. Exactly. Exactly. I get the idea, you know, comfort food is, you know, because we're

used to it in that kind of thing. But if you're like me, you know, a more adventurous eater at point,

not being able to have that variety and try new things would be tough for me because I want to try

different things like that. So that's why I'm kind of leaning towards this gourmet. And then

the point you just made, you know, you could still, you could make anything gourmet really you can't.

Yeah, add truffles to your mac and cheese. You add truffles to everything. You add truffles to anything

and it makes sense. I don't care if it's a candy bar. If it says truffles, I know I'm like, oh,

it's something about that word that to me, this spree speaks like richi or more expensive.

You can charge more. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I like, I like, that's interesting. Let's go ahead and find out

what's on your mind out there. Good morning. What's going on? Good morning, James.

What's that? And that. Hi, Kevin and the other guy.

What's on your mind? Yeah, for some reason, it just like blank. Just blank. Just like that happens.

That's okay. You remembered the important person. Me.

Well, you're starting to kind of go down a little bit because that cat.

Oh, nice. Okay. I'll take that bit.

But, you know, for the first time I go back to James with Taylor Todd,

you have to try the Taylor Todd in an era of fries. Oh, oh, that does sound good. Yeah.

Okay. Then you then you get him plenty of crispy. Yeah. Yeah. All right.

Yeah, they get they get they get nice crispy in the air fryer. So I mean,

and especially for these people, they got it gold 300 miles. They go get their

best and other favorite kids. The air fryer. They're just the media cooking everything.

Seems like. Yeah, seems like a better use of time.

But if I would have won the lottery last night, you know, I would have took you guys

out to our quarry and you know, we probably would have won like the Gordon Ramsey's restaurant.

Somebody buy this man a lottery ticket. Yeah, we're going to keep funding this.

It is kind of tempting. Like, if you've never had something, a meal like that or prepare,

I've never had food like that. I am tempted to know like, well, how do like,

I don't care much about how the other side look good. Yeah. Just look good. Yeah. Yeah.

I would be curious about that.

Hey, but yeah, yeah. I mean, I would try some of his food. You know, like, you know,

it didn't mean if you watch the shows on TV or even watch some of it, maybe before he had

these reality shows, or he did other things and preparing the foods. I mean, it just,

you know, the stuff he makes in his kitchen. I mean, does he really true? You do that for

his family? Oh, yeah. That's the answer. That's a great question. That's a really good.

He's completely, it's just peanut butter and jelly every night. Sorry, I'm spent. You guys

only get this. Yeah. Yeah. Right. You know, and, but, you know, comfort food, I would have to,

that would probably be why. I mean, obviously, because it's for sometimes the comfort food's

a lot easier to make than it is to try to make a gourmet meal. I mean, you can make, you know,

even take your comfort food and make a gourmet, it depends on how much you want to doctor it up

and take the time to do it. Yeah, ketchup doesn't count, though. Sorry. So they tell me, so they tell me.

Always good to talk to you, sir. Have a great morning. All right. You guys have a great day.

Good to talk to you. Best listeners in the radio. We'll be back with more fun and our good friend,

Elis and Dairyland Zone, Ashley Hagginow, coming up in the 9 o'clock hour right here at.
