Good morning, Wisconsin.
Good morning, world.
It's a new day.
Thanks for kicking it off with us here at WFHR, locally grown radio.
Got your host, James J. I am joined by Melissa K.
Good morning.
Seth Havagger.
Good morning.
And the best listeners in radio.
Thanks for joining us, everybody.
Hope you had a good weekend.
We're going to have some fun this week and good stuff coming up for you today.
We're going to kick things off the way we like to with our good friend, Brittany, and
talking a little weather.
How's it going today, Brittany?
Good.
How are you?
We're doing good over here.
Nice blue skies out there.
I'm so excited.
Yeah.
We'll take that.
So I guess we're good with weather.
We don't need it.
We don't want anymore.
We already got good news.
We already got good news.
Blue skies out there.
Take it and run with it.
Take the wind, Brett, and just take the wind and roll with it.
We'll just hang out.
How was your weekend, Brittany?
How?
You know, it was good.
I just had to adjust to the temperature a little bit.
Yeah.
You and me both, girl.
Freak.
Very clear.
Well, it's going to be a beautiful day today.
You guys already know this.
Mostly sunny out there.
Fantastic.
Into the low forties.
Once again, still hanging on to the nice mild temperatures.
It's going to be a little breezy.
We'll have winds out at the south at about 20 miles per hour.
But that's it.
Otherwise, we're a little bit cloudy on Wednesday because we have a chance of some snow.
Wednesday night.
Thursday.
Yes.
Isn't that crazy?
I can't get that word in a while.
Look this up.
Snow.
What is snow?
SNO.
Do you smell that?
Yes.
SNOW, I think, I think.
I'm going to look that.
I'll get back to you guys.
I don't know what that is.
Goodness.
Yes.
So fingers crossed for that because we sure need it.
Yeah.
That'll be Wednesday night.
Thursday.
Otherwise, colder temperatures behind that.
Mm.
Like winter.
Yeah.
Hey, we're going to get winter again.
This is, boy, I never thought that this day would come at the Midwest.
Where we're like to just scrape in the barrel for winter.
You guys see a snowflake?
I saw a snowflake today.
I saw it.
The cold temperatures will take a week and get.
Well, we always love taking the weather from you, Brittany.
Thanks so much for it.
You have a great start to your week.
And we'll talk again tomorrow.
So good.
You too, bye.
She is the best.
Mm-hmm.
Brittany Marlowe joins us every Monday through Friday, right in this time slot.
She just us up on Mother Nature.
Good time right there.
Hope you two had a good time and a good weekend and all of you did.
We're looking forward to hearing from you today.
Want to hear your thoughts on the game?
The commercials, all that.
Feel free to call up and let us know your thoughts.
424-2600-715-424-2600.
Otherwise, we will talk a little Super Bowl today.
Got a couple of random facts and some different notes on the game from yesterday.
10 interesting facts about the Super Bowl.
We will talk a little bit about the commercials as well.
Get under all of that.
Peter's doing knucklehead thing again.
We'll talk about that as well.
And I want to get into Taco Bell and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Those are all topics that we are going to be touching on.
All that coming up.
9 o'clock.
Now we're going to kick things off the way we like to on Mondays with the kitchens open.
Fabulous segment.
Melissa does an amazing job of writing, producing and all of that.
We're looking forward to that.
We'll get into a little entertainment news for you as well.
It's where we'll wrap up our Super Bowl commercial talk and everything.
And I do believe it will probably be the last time you have to hear anything about the Super Bowl.
Yes.
Until later on today during Playmaker.
I'll tell you later.
You'll switch a route.
Join us from 3 to 4 for Playmakers today.
We'll be talking about the big game and plenty more.
Seth and I will be tag team in that one for you today.
We're going to have a lot of fun with it.
We're talking about some River Kings.
Plenty going on with our sports.
Local sports.
And of course, just national sports.
You can smell that.
But I want to kick things off talking a little coffee.
Would you guys have a good weekend?
Good weekend all around everybody?
Yeah.
Not bad.
It wasn't bad.
Super Bowl Sunday.
I was kind of fun.
You know, hanging out with the family and eat things you normally wouldn't.
Yes.
I did none of that.
And I'm not surprised.
I got it.
Anybody.
No, no, no.
I'm not a Super Bowl.
It did not even happen.
Yeah, right.
You are not alone on that one from what I heard from my handful of people.
It was a little surprised by that.
Just not in general that people didn't watch.
But the people in general that I thought would watch weren't watching.
Interesting.
I don't think you're alone on that one.
But I want to talk coffee.
Because you can use a long weekend for a lot of people out there.
And especially last night could be a late night.
For many.
Especially the game went to overtime.
What time did the game get over?
A little after nine.
Yeah.
And they've started this earlier now.
Like they say 530 start time.
And it's a little quarter to the six before it starts.
But that's a lot earlier than usual.
It's true.
Where the game would start at 530.
And it was seven by the time that you know the national anthem was wrapping up.
And then there's mountain time.
Because you know where it was located in Vegas and all that stuff.
Yeah.
I actually thought that the the the start time the last couple of years has been perfect.
Yeah.
I feel like the game wraps up.
And it's not the dead of night.
Even a game like this.
Yeah.
That went into overtime and everything.
And it went right down to the wire.
Right down to the last seconds.
That's exciting.
Yeah.
That way it was.
Oh.
I think it was a classic.
Just my personal thoughts.
I thought it was one of the best super balls I've ever seen.
It was pretty good.
I thought.
We'll see what you guys think.
715-424-2600.
It also.
It also puts a real niche in the air.
Nick into the idea of having the Super Bowl on Saturdays.
Everybody wants it on Saturdays because Sunday so many people have off today and all that.
But it's getting done earlier.
So I don't feel like that's as big of an issue anymore.
One of my son said the same very same thing.
Why isn't this on Saturday?
Yeah.
Because he was bugged that he had to go to bed.
You know, and he couldn't watch the rest of the game and rob.
Yeah.
I think that even if you don't like sports, if you don't even get the or care about any of this stuff,
even in your brain it makes sense.
Well, why would you have it on Sunday when you could have it on Saturday?
It's your game.
You could do that.
And you're the NFL.
If they wanted to put this on a Tuesday at 1 o'clock in the afternoon,
the viewership would be the exact same.
It would be the exact same.
It would be the good matter.
Do what you want to do.
I don't understand why they're even messing around with this and everything.
It just makes much more sense.
Other than tradition.
Is that why it's on Sunday?
I think so.
Most football games are on Sunday.
As far as I could tell, I looked into this and as far as I could tell,
the only rhyme or reason anybody gives to answer to the answer is tradition.
That's got to be it.
It might be similar.
The number of syllables in the day Sunday because it matches Super Bowl.
During an NFL week, you try to give these guys a week off to rest their bodies.
The NFL has not cared about that in about 15 years.
Ever since they invented Thursday night football and Friday night football and Saturday night football.
Yeah, right.
So the idea of that doesn't even make any sense.
And then you've got two weeks before every Super Bowl.
Since we were kids, it's been two weeks before the Super Bowl.
So you got plenty of time to set this up.
Whatever day you want.
Exactly.
You want Wednesday at noon.
Go ahead and have the Super Bowl Wednesday at noon if you want.
I think it's going to be interesting to see what happens with that over the years to come.
But coffee is on a lot of people's minds this morning.
A lot of people get in that cup going.
I know we are coffee lovers around here.
And Google says coffee searches in the US hit a new high in December.
And it's the most searched drink in all time of all time worldwide.
Wow.
The most searched drink worldwide all time.
Wow.
Coffee is the goat.
But here are a few more coffee stats for you like bacon flavored coffee.
It was the top trending flavored coffee search last week.
And that is something you could buy now.
That is something you could buy.
Okay, I got it.
All right.
I think I'd rather just dip my bacon in coffee if I want that.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm with you on that.
Now, I won't go too far because this next one does sound a little interesting to me.
All right.
Coffee flavored cereal.
It's the top coffee flavored thing we've searched for.
Duncan started selling some a few years ago, but it's discontinued.
A brand called...
Nobody bought it.
Nobody bought it.
A brand called Off Limits sells a coffee flavored cereal called Dash.
All right.
Let's try that again.
Yeah.
That's cute.
I like that.
I actually have caffeine in it.
I wonder.
Oh, yeah.
That's a good question.
Yeah.
This is a good question.
Latte art.
I'm sorry.
Latte art.
Yeah.
Latte art searches.
Are you twirling your mustache?
Yes, I am actually.
Yes.
Latte art searches.
It's an all time high in January.
A ton of people have also been searching for Latte art tool called a cinnamon pen.
Yeah.
Oh, my.
Oh.
Is this like when they make the shapes in the top of the coffee?
I'm guessing that's what it is.
Yeah.
Because those are cool.
Like, baristas that can do that.
It's pretty remarkable.
Yeah.
It's beautiful.
And I don't want to drink it because it's so pretty.
Same.
Same.
Yeah.
No, it's too pretty.
It's too cool.
Like, I have sat there and like almost my coffee gets cold.
I'm looking at it.
I like that.
That's really cool.
I once was going to take a picture of it.
And I'm like, wait, I don't want to be the guy that takes pictures of it.
And then I was like, well, wait a minute.
I don't care what other people think.
I think it's really cool.
I want to take it.
Then I went away before I take pictures.
Yeah.
Yeah, right.
I went away by the time I decided to actually take one drink.
And it turns into a grotesque nightmare.
Yes.
Yeah.
That's when you get your spoon and you stir it.
Yes.
It is really cool to see them.
They do it so fast.
Right.
Like, I got to sit down.
If I'm going to draw a stick figure and just focus.
I'm just like, okay.
All right.
Like, I even use both hands.
Like, all right.
Come on.
Sir, cool.
Maybe that's your problem.
Oh, yeah.
Well, that's the beginning of the list.
Lots of art.
I think that's probably what it is, Melissa.
I think that's what the latte art is.
I think you're right.
Ice coffee tastings are something you can do now.
Ohio is obsessed with this.
I'm not sure what exactly that is, though.
Yeah.
Ice coffee tastings.
Just see.
Yeah.
Maybe, well, it's like a wine tasting or a whiskey tasting or a coffee tasting.
Or a coffee tasting.
Okay.
That's cool and all.
But that's something Bri and I have been trying to do for years.
Like, we thought of this a long time.
Even before the podcast, we do.
We thought of this.
Really?
Yeah, the idea of it.
Because people do beer tasting.
They go, or, you know, especially you turn 21.
Do the rounds or anything.
A coffee.
Do it with this with coffee going around and trying different coffee.
Because there's, especially in point where there's like 90 different coffee shops.
Yeah, no kidding.
A coffee crawl.
Yes.
Yeah.
That's what you need to try.
Oh, coffee.
Because you'd be like jittery by the, I mean, everyone would be like, ah!
A little similar to wine tasting.
Yeah.
You can't necessarily true wine.
Well, we're not going to spit it out.
Yeah, no.
No, you know, maybe not.
Why would you do that?
Why would you do that?
Why would you do that to coffee?
And then there is latte perfume.
Oh, boy.
Yes.
Which, by the way, everybody, I shameless thing here, but I am the new sponsor of a latte perfume.
Which is, this is all been building towards.
So that I can help sell latte perfume.
Oh, okay.
Have you ever wanted to smell like a latte?
Yes.
I can do the first line.
Do you, do you want a perfume that wakes you up?
Try latte perfume at low price of $150.
That's right.
For the low price of $150, you can get a three ounce bottle of latte perfume.
Oh, my goodness.
Between espresso.
Yes.
And toppings is latte perfume.
Somewhere between folders and Maxwell House.
You'll find latte perfume.
Latte.
Latte.
Latte.
To be brought out there, I can't paint.
To figure it out for you.
Oh, I'll write for you right there.
We're going to go ahead and voice that commercial during our break right here.
But I have to tell you, I actually have, I got the, when I went to a shower last weekend,
a wedding shower.
I got a bath and body works lotion called coffee and whiskey.
Oh, coffee and whiskey.
Interesting.
Interesting.
It smells like coffee.
Okay.
Let's get to the go around the level like whiskey.
I don't feel like anything.
I haven't used it yet.
Oh, okay.
I just, you know, smell in the bottle.
It smells pretty strongly of coffee.
That's good.
Interesting.
Interesting.
I don't know.
Well, we'll take a quick time out.
Oh, I want to get a candle this smells like coffee.
There's got to be, yeah.
We got to make coffee.
Oh, absolutely.
I don't think I got to find that.
I think I'm making smelling ones.
They've got to have coffee.
I'm going to go look for that.
You guys stick around.
We got good stuff coming up for you.

Let's go ahead and dive right into our list.
I need a one or a two.
Seth.
Give it to me.
Two.
All right.
Give us that qualifier.
Get right into the celebrating.
First up, I do want to wish a...
would have been my Papa's birthday today.
Jim mailoff would have been.
And thinking of him and my family.
Shout out to all of them.
And appreciate.
Appreciate everybody.
And the well wishes and everything we got about a month ago
when we lost him.
Best listeners in the radio, you guys.
Because it's tough.
So I haven't really touched too much on it.
But I cannot...
If I showed you to the amount of messages I got over him,
I think you'd be floored.
Even knowing you guys have been working here for a long time,
you know this audience as well as I do.
Yeah, you'd be floored.
It's really impressive to what you guys stood up and everything.
So I wanted to...
Thank you everybody.
Take the moment with my Papa to honor him and to thank all of you
for honoring him.
Best listeners.
Best listeners.
Diving right into our birthdays.
We wish happy birthday to Jack O'Brien.
Happy birthday, Jack.
A solid name.
Jack O'Brien.
Jack O'Brien.
Like that.
It seems like that could be a billion different jobs.
Like an insurance adjuster.
No, I'm sorry, Jack.
I wasn't trying to tell you.
Or a detective.
Or a name in a movie or TV show.
Like a great name.
Great name, Jack.
Happy birthday to you, sir.
Happy birthday.
We also wish happy birthday to our qualifier, Carol Jones.
Happy birthday, Carol.
Happy birthday, Carol.
Enjoy your day, Carol.
Hope it's a great one for you.
I've always loved the name, Carol.
Good name.
Good name.
Enjoy your day, Carol.
Congratulations.
Wishing you both good one.
And Carol, congratulations.
You are our qualifier.
We dive into our celebrity birthdays here.
Christina Riccius 44.
Really?
Wow.
Yeah.
You know, we kind of grew up with her.
Yeah.
And it's hard to remember that.
Yeah, she is our age, basically.
Yeah.
Huge fan.
Huge fan.
I think she's got some great, a great body of work.
And the fact that she's only 44 means that we get a lot more.
It's great.
I liked seeing her in the TV show Wednesday.
I thought it was really cool to see her in the show.
Although she didn't play, you know, like an older version of Wednesday.
Right.
Or anything like that.
It was just kind of a nice Easter egg.
Yes.
And everything.
I thought it was pretty good.
A prize all over.
Not reprisal, but a throwback, maybe.
Yeah.
That's a good way to put it.
I think that's a perfect fine way to put it.
Yeah.
Josh Brolin is 56 Thanos and Cable and the Deadpool movies and Thanos and the movies and all that.
It's interesting when you can do that.
When you get a chance to be able to play multiple roles in that Marvel Universe.
And mainly because of multiple Disney paychecks.
Yes.
Yes, he's smart, man.
He's like, collect that money.
Yeah.
Josh Brolin, another one of these guys.
Like, you wouldn't believe if you stood next to him.
You would not believe his height.
Like, there's no way that's the Thanos.
The guy that's Josh Brolin has been, and he's a good actor.
Very, very solid.
I have not, I don't think you're ever going to see Josh Brolin playing a soft character.
Or anything like that.
But he's like, he's like 5556.
He's like the same height as Tom Cruise or something like that.
I didn't know he was in the goonies.
Oh, yeah.
Big break.
Big, big, big break.
And I love hearing him talk about it.
You ever get a chance to hear him talk about that?
He, like, the reason he's where he is now.
Because of the break of the goonies.
But not because he got his name out there or anything like that.
He had, he was not easy to work with.
And he learned a lot about that experience.
And Steven Spielberg is the director of that movie.
And he realized, because the very next movie he does after that was a bomb.
And a horrible experience and all this.
And he realized, oh, not every director is Spielberg.
Not every director is going to let me get away with these things or teach me these things.
And it really like shaped his career where he would go with it afterwards.
Well, and being the son of a Hollywood person, you know, James Brolin was his father.
I mean, I can understand going into it, you know, with like, yeah, I know what I'm doing.
Yeah.
He kind of had to relearn everything, which is kind of cool.
And then he claims that is nice.
Well, the director in the goonies, too, was a bit of that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He was the teenage boy who was kind of a jerk.
China Phillips is 56.
Wilson Phillips alum.
Hold on.
Release me.
I got quite a few hits.
Everybody do the dog noise.
Arsenio Hall is 68 today.
Wow.
Arsenio 68.
Wow.
Late night TV was never the same after Arsenio Hall.
It still isn't.
Yeah.
He changed a lot.
He changed it all.
Even though he didn't end up being on there that long.
Yeah.
He really did have an impact though.
It was the first show to really do that to be able to reach a younger audience.
It would pave the way for things like the daily show and stuff like that.
And now that's where almost all late night TV has gone.
Is that route?
Is that way?
It's interesting.
Also great actor.
Yes he is.
Coming to America is some of my favorite work I've ever seen.
I love his work.
I see.
He's a great.
And the perfect complement to Eddie Murphy.
The perfect, the perfect tab team partner for Eddie Murphy.
You know, I wish they'd made more movies together.
Me too.
Because they had really a chemistry.
Yeah.
Especially when you see their recent coming to America, it was good.
And they were, they still got the same chemistry.
That's great.
They're still great together.
I want to see that still.
I haven't seen it yet.
Look at his eyes to no one.
I almost need Michael McDonald's.
͡
Michael McDonald's brother.
0.
Michael McDonald's 72 today everybody.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to Michael McDonald.
For the horrible impressions I have done.
I love you got the best Michael McDonald's ever.
I love Michael McDonald's.
I love him.
I love it.
Huge fan of the man.
Huge fan.
I don't know if it comes across when I do that impression.
But I'm doing it out of love.
I really love them.
What's it doing here, review?
He doesn't sound anything for me.
And the whole thing.
Indeed.
He's an awesome guy.
Listen to an interview.
He doesn't sound anything like you think.
No, he doesn't.
It's so weird.
It's very interesting.
It's very interesting.
But what are the most famous voices?
And even if you don't know, that's Michael McDonald.
Oh man.
That voice.
The thing of all the backing vocals he did.
For all the big groups.
Steely Dan, Christopher Cross and all these other guys.
And even then the least singer of Dooby Brothers.
I mean, yeah, what a career.
I can't imagine that there's what it is to be a singer or like to be a singer and everything.
I really can't.
But one of the things to me that if I was sitting there and I'm like, okay, I get to be a singer.
One of the first things I would want is a unique voice.
Yeah.
And I feel like that's one of the most obvious things you could say about singing.
But yet it isn't that.
That doesn't happen that often.
There's not that many unique, unique voices like, oh, I've never heard anybody like that before.
Have you ever heard anybody like Michael McDonald before?
No.
It's unique.
One of a kind.
Yeah.
Michael Ironside is 74.
Great character actor, the perfect storm, Starship Troopers, maybe his role in Total Recalls.
Probably his famous top gun.
No scanners.
That's the one he's probably known for.
He was in Free Willy, the next karate kid.
Great act.
Great.
Good bad guy.
Oh, yes, he does.
And he's got some of the best eyebrow acting.
Oh, he's great with his eyebrows.
He's so expressive.
He's awesome.
I love that.
Mo Bandi is 80 country singer.
Wow.
And let's say, yeah, 80, I didn't believe that.
Wow.
That's 86.
Oh, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful author of Super Fudge and Tales of the Fourth Grade
Nothing.
That was the one I liked.
And of course, are you there?
God, it's me, Margaret.
Judy Bloom.
I don't know if there are many authors.
You can say, Shell Silverstein, there's a couple like that that like almost every kid,
Rich, poor, black, white, no matter where you grew up, who you were.
You have a tie to these artists, these works.
One of the rare, like older kids, not like children's, children's authors, but like
young, you know, like adolescents and stuff who appealed to both boys and girls.
Yeah.
There was not a whole lot.
Usually they catered to one side or the other.
She could do both.
And that's really remarkable.
Uh-huh.
Um, the, the happy 88th birthday to Joe Don Baker.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
I just saw some Joe Don's great work.
This weekend on Mystery Science Theater.
Rachel.
Uh-uh.
Now, most people will know him.
Don Baker is Mitchell.
Most people will know him from the 1973 classic Walking Tall.
Right.
I was his big break and everything.
I think the rest of us know him from Mystery Science Theater, Horrible Movies and Performances.
I have never seen a, I've never seen a lazier actor in my life.
I, I've never seen somebody who literally phones it in like Joe Don Baker.
Oh, man.
I've seen three James Bond films.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He played Felix lighter, I think.
Well, Joe Don Baker had the career I would kill for.
I would kill for right now at 46 years old.
I hope this does not come across like I am shredding him.
No.
I'm just being honest.
I, I, I never see the guy who get his big break.
Usually that's when you're like, okay, this is when I'm, oh, now I'm hungry.
I'm going to keep working.
I want to stay in the game.
Joe Don Baker.
Cool.
I made it.
All right.
I'm good.
You just collected paychecks and just like, okay, what's my lines?
It doesn't matter.
Like he's notoriously known for just like, like, like, like, there's Marlon Brando difficulties
to work with.
Right.
You know, that talented and all that.
And then there's Joe Don Baker.
We're like, hey, I've seen Joe.
We're, we're supposed to film here.
Anybody?
And he just show up drinking.
I hate my character drinks now.
I don't want you to do that.
Joe Don Baker has entertained us a lot on both sides of the ball.
They, they try, they try so hard to make him a leading man.
He's just not a leading man.
He's a great character actor, but not a leading man.
Oh, they try to make him an action star too.
And that didn't work.
Mitchell.
Mitchell.
And then some people no longer with us.
Like, one of the greatest, you can make the argument greatest basketball player, at least
the most winning basketball player of all time, Bill Russell born on this day in 1934
plus way in 2022.
Yeah.
Boston Celtics legend.
Uh, 12 rings for Mr. Russell.
12 rings.
It's amazing.
And, uh, I'm still underappreciated by the Boston fan base.
It's ridiculous.
They didn't deserve Bill Russell.
They deserve it.
Those fans, I'm not saying all Boston.
No, no.
I hate when people lump all fan bases together.
Um, that's what Bill Michaels and some of these other low hanging fruit guys do with
everything.
That's not us.
They're still obsessed with havela check.
I don't know why I think.
Yeah.
Bill Russell, greatest winner in arguably an American sports.
Yep.
Uh, Joe wouldn't got to be up there at least too.
And Abraham Lincoln born in this day in 1809, passed away in 1865, our 16th president.
He is the, uh, not only the face on the penny and the $5 bill.
Uh, he is the author of and so many of the great bills that we love and hold dear in
this country.
Uh, one of our greats and, uh, probably could have played basketball.
Yes.
He was very tall.
He was six foot four and in time when people were not that tall.
So yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, one of our great quote machines too.
There's a lot of great roots out there.
And interestingly, there is a movie coming out called Manhunt that is all about the search
for John Wilts Booth.
Ooh.
And it, it, like, looks like a very real, like, real detailed telling of that story, which
is fascinating.
The escape of John Wilts.
Yep.
The act of that happening and, and I don't think, in fact, I'm positive.
There's none of us that could wrap our minds around that moment in our, in American history.
None of us.
There's no comparison.
There's no comp.
There's no assassination in our country that has taken place that we can really put
in on that pedestal on that level.
The kind of the assassination is obviously up there and it's got to be in the consideration
in the conversation.
But that's a, um, that situation in, in time is a completely different situation than
what happened.
Right.
The cause and the effect and why Lincoln was assassinated and all that.
It's very fascinating.
It's really interesting to see.
I don't, I don't know if the movie is going to be good or not, but to tackle that subject
is quite interesting.
Looks interesting.
One of the first books I read about that, um, that was like a, a factual historical book.
It was called The Man Who Killed Lincoln.
Oh.
It was written by Philip Vandorn Stern in 1939.
Is the copyright.
Cool.
It actually, it fascinated me at the time, which is surprising because I read it barely
young.
Yeah.
Cool.
And I, I think the fear immediately to something like that is a glorifying somebody like John
Wilkes Booth or anything.
I, I think it does the exact opposite of that.
I think it, it gives actual fact so that people can't glorify certain things or anything
like that.
Oh, guys, I just pulled this book off the shelf and a bookmark fell out of it that I made
in great school.
Wow.
Wow.
So it's been a while.
In other words, yes.
Yeah.
It's pretty cool though.
That is pretty neat.
Charles Darwin, born in the state in 1809, passed away in 1882.
Wow.
Hmm.
The date today when goodness, Lauren Green, born in the state in 1915, been cut right up
and Nancy, Commander Adam on Battlestar Galactica.
It's all right.
He's got five bandans.
Nice.
And, uh, Dora's keyboard is Ray Maserick, born in the men's of Manzarek, born in the
state in 1939, passed away in 2013.
You like the anything about the doors?
You've got to love Ray.
He was there because he played the bass parts as well on his keyboard as playing the keyboard
parts.
By the way, also a, a producer, one of the great early producers of punk, he produced the
first three albums of the Seminole Los Angeles punk band X.
That's awesome.
We're fantastic albums.
Go listen to them.
Yeah.
I think this is the second time you remember that and I have it.
No, okay.
Every time I'm so glad you remember that, that's so good.
We got our state and local news coming up for you.
We encourage you to take it, take that in and also take in some great, uh, L Cafe, the
atmosphere, the people, the wonderful food.
You are going to enjoy yourself.
Have a great time and start your day with our friends over at L Cafe at 221 Market Avenue
in beautiful Port Edwards, head on over there and wish them a great day from all of
us at WFHR.
Welcome back, everyone.
Morning show at WFHR.
Well, that's a marvelous night for a moon dance with the star of the Peruvian dance.
Little Van Morrison playing us in Melissa, set them James here with you.
We hope you have enough fantastic one out there.
Go ahead and moon dance while we're doing our second here.
Go rad-ah.
Still just how he weirdly, he says moon, the moon dance, that's kind of, there's a couple
of things in Van Morrison's songs and where he says it, I think it's his accent, he's
Irish accent.
Yeah.
Great voice, though.
And one of those ones, you were saying earlier, it doesn't sound like the guy he sings,
you know, kind of thing.
His voice and his singing voice are both unique.
Yes.
Well, partially, you can't understand what he's saying when he talks, his accent is so
thick.
But when he's singing, I mean, he's so good.
I always wanted to hear a version or a duet with Van Morrison and Dr. John.
And I want them to do a talk, like a Q&A afterwards, too, and try to understand, go ahead,
good luck, try to understand either those amazing, amazing individuals.
Yes.
Man.
Dr. John was another one of the voices.
Great voice.
Let's dive into some cereal talk.
We talked about coffee earlier, now we're talking cereal, eggs and bacon will be next.
Breakfast day here.
Yeah.
It's a W of Feature.
There isn't a lot of innovation in the world of taco shells.
There's hard shells, soft shells, and well, you know, that's about it, pretty much.
But old El Paso isn't resting on their laurels.
Old El Paso is introducing new Cinnamon Toast Crunch dessert taco shells.
Oh, boy.
They're selling, they're similar to their usual taco shells, but they've been blasted
with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cinnamon Toast.
Hmm.
You got to say it like that, too.
You do, you do.
You have to say it like in 90s, uh,
90s search commercial search.
Search.
Yes, that's exactly how you have to do it.
The blasted with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cinnamon Toast, for now, they're exclusively
available at wallbark.com for three bucks.
Oh, that's not bad, actually.
For cereal, these days, yeah.
But starting next month, they'll also be popping up at retailers nationwide for a limited
time.
So, uh, now I think you guys did the same thing I did there.
They're similar to usual taco shells.
These are taco shells.
Not cereal.
Right.
Sorry, yes.
Yeah.
But that's what I kept doing.
I could go into the cereal.
Taco shell cereal.
That sounds interesting.
Yeah.
Oh, wait a minute.
No, that's the opposite of what it is.
The shells are tastes like cereal.
There we go.
So what do you put in said shells?
Wow, that's a good question.
That is an incredibly good question.
Melissa, I was trying to think of this one, too.
Ice cream, maybe ice cream.
Yeah.
Ice cream, maybe ice cream.
Are you trying to replace the choco taco?
Yes.
Yeah.
We're finally trying to get back to fixing that horrible mistake we made in our society of
letting go of the choco taco.
We miss you choco taco.
I know, man.
We're replacing you piecemeal.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And this product and this product and combine them together.
Build your own choco taco, basically, is what it is.
Yeah.
715-424-2600.
424-2600.
Feel free to call it, join the conversation.
You are the owner, creator of old El Paso.
You can create any taco shell you want.
You are in charge of reinventing the taco shell.
We've got hard.
We've got soft.
What do you do?
How would you try to reinvent this?
Right.
I think this isn't, that's not a bad idea as far as the flavor to shell.
What Taco Bell has done in combining shells, soft shell, hard shell.
Right.
Or like the Doritos thing, shells and that kind of stuff.
Yeah.
I don't begrudge any of these things because I love tacos and I like the attempt.
But I'm really curious to see what they can do next.
I don't know how you really evolve something like that.
That's the hard thing, man.
They did it a couple of years ago, like 10 years or whatever it was, when they did the
standing taco shell, which was an amazing innovation.
You know?
And they did different flavors with that.
That's true.
That's true.
That's true.
But that's basically all you can do with it is make it like different flavors and maybe
and do something out there like they're doing with the Cinnamon Toast Crunch thing.
Man, what do you do with the taco shell?
It's hard.
It's hard.
Actually, you guys, they have done quite a bit with the taco shells.
If you look them up, they even have tortilla, so like soft shell tacos already formed into
a pocket for you.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So all you have to do is put the stuff in it.
I did not know that.
You don't even have to hold it yourself.
Wow.
And they have a disaster ranch flavor.
Oh, yeah.
It's like a cool ranch one.
Yeah.
Right.
Ever used a Giro shells for tacos?
Oh, no.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like peanut bread.
Yeah.
I don't know if I've ever done that before.
It's really good.
That sounds really good.
Yeah.
Everything stays in the bag.
It does stays in the pocket really good.
Yeah.
That's what happens when you're living a load and you don't have, you forgot tacos.
Oh, yeah.
Taco shells.
What I got here.
Oh, hey.
It was really good.
It was really good.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I'm kind of interested to see where that goes because we, and I bring all that up in
part because tacos are pretty much still our number one thing.
It's pizza than tacos as far as most popular foods in America.
Right.
And because tacos are amazing.
They are.
Yeah.
One of those amazing things ever.
And with that, you're going to have, you're only going to have more and more taco places
opening up and everything.
Taco joints and different taco places.
It's going to be interesting to me to see what they do to kind of like, okay, stay ahead
of the Joneses.
How do I stay ahead of the game in this?
Wow.
Mm-hmm.
So these are dessert shells.
Dessert shells?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can't see them.
No, we still haven't gotten the answer.
Your imagination.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I figured that out.
Fill it with your imagination.
Seth, I don't want to tell you what my imagination tastes like.
Yeah.
Oh, well.
I can only imagine.
I wish you would.
We'll be back with more right here at WFHR.
Well, come back, everyone.
Morning show here at WFHR.
Locally grown radio.
Seth, Melissa, James, all here with you.
We hope you're having a fantastic day out there.
Thanks so much for joining us, everybody.
Good stuff coming up for you.
We're going to get into and we'll have some fun kicking off the 9 o'clock hour with the
Kitchens open.
Be sure to join us for that.
Yeah.
Looking forward to it.
I want to encourage everybody to check out civicmedia.us, civicmedia.us.
We have our website up and running and it is nicely redone.
Yeah, I knew.
It looks very cool looking.
Mm-hmm.
Check that out this morning.
Big shout out to Jorge and all of our engineers and all of our herd working people back there
to make that kind of stuff happen.
Thank you so much.
Great to be team.
Yeah, check that out, everybody.
It looks really, really cool.
I don't know what to do with this one.
715-424-2600.
To me, this is a then a right story, but I don't.
That's my opinion.
If you have a different one, feel free to share with us 715-424-2600.
Peter recently announced it wants carousels to no longer have animal designs.
What?
Peter says it sent a letter to the president of a company known for its beautiful carousels
asking them to end the production and sale of, quote, animal-themed carousels that normalize
the use of animals as conveniences and amusements.
Okay.
I think that's a take.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Are we going to cut them out of all cartoons now, too?
Exactly.
Exactly.
That's the next step.
That's the next step.
You have more bojack horsemen.
Exploding horses.
We have a pop patrol.
Yeah, exactly.
All of it gone.
All of it gone.
Mickey Mouse.
Gone.
You're using our animals.
Yeah, Donald Duck.
Gone.
If you care about animals, like a lot of us do, in fact, I think all of us here do and
everything, and you are rooting for animals.
You want animals to be taken, you know, animal rights to be taken seriously.
This kind of stuff only hurts that cause.
It doesn't add up to me.
It makes no sense to me.
Don't quite understand where they're going with this.
Carousel horses are works of art.
They're...
I love walking around a carousel just to look at all of the amazing.
And they're not all just horses, you know what I mean?
Some of them have a variety, a menagerie of animals, as it were.
Yeah, yeah.
It's nicely done.
Let's take a call.
Good morning.
What's in your mind?
Good.
Oh, lost it.
Lost it.
Oh, sorry.
Feel free to call back 424-2600.
I don't begrudge a cause or what Pete is doing or even having to take some chances to
try to get attention or anything like that.
I understand all this.
I understand what marketing is.
I'm an adult.
Right.
But there's marketing and then there's hurting your message and the idea that you're
more important than the message, that PETA is more important than animals.
That is the way that it's always come across to me.
Especially with the way that they are run, where they don't work with other animal rights
organizations.
They don't help a lot of humane societies.
They don't do a lot of those things.
They're not things to go against.
They're messaging.
Yeah.
For like this idea of, and this is the case with anything in life, I don't care what
it is.
If you are so extreme about something that it's all or nothing, your thought is the only
opinion that matters and everybody else is dumb and all these things.
Yeah.
You lose me.
Yeah.
Even if I get away.
Right.
Right.
It seems like it's, yeah, it's just see how outrageous we can be.
Actually, that's where, and then what?
What's next?
I don't understand.
And for those of us that do care about animals, it hurts the cause.
It's that much harder to get people on your side or hear you out.
Right.
Let's go ahead and take a call.
Good morning.
What's on your mind?
Okay.
Where does PETA stand on stuffed animals like the puppy toy at what point is my child stuffed
pig toy collection offensive?
Yeah.
Like, I think we need to be reasonable here.
It's feeling like they're trying to whitewash the desire for people of color to no longer
be seen as a caricature by asking that animal no longer be seen as a caricature and that
at its core offends me deeply.
Well said.
I appreciate the call.
You have a good morning.
You too.
Bye.
When it comes to, when it comes to that kind of stuff too, it really does not only hurt
the cause, but it hurts anybody that's trying to make the thing happen, like you get things
on that side.
And this is something we see a lot, especially in today's politics.
Nobody comes up with their own stuff anymore.
Oh, that side's doing this.
We're going to take that and rebrand it and make it our own.
This side talks about being woke and everything.
Oh, you know what?
We're going to take, we can't come up with anything of our own.
We're just going to take that word, but we're going to make it mean something bad, something
dirty.
Ooh, who woke bad?
Ooh, like because you can't come up with nothing of your own.
Right.
So that's all you do now in politics, instead of actually having original thoughts or
actually standing on your, I don't know your beliefs or what you're running on.
Now it's just, what do the other guys say?
Oh, oh, I got something for that.
Wait, wait, wait.
You say you're the victim?
No, I'm the victim.
Politics has become grade school where all of a sudden it's like somebody's wearing
funny glasses.
Now you're trying to sit there thinking of in your head, oh, what's a funny joke about
their glasses?
What's a fun?
You know, it's basically, yeah, yeah, pay attention, everybody, because it's a big year
for that.
And I would vote for people that do not act like children.
Yes, please.
And this is where my bar is with who I'm voting for, but when I before I stepped into
that booth, do they act like a child?
This is my first thing on my list, okay?
And no, they don't.
Cool.
And instead of going, wow, this, who's the most qualified, you know, as the most experienced
all that was as you know, who's the least like a child?
That's great.
It's gonna be a really, and we got a long time till November here, too.
Yeah.
We got a lot of things to go on before that.
Not to mention the two out of the three lead leading candidates are way up there in
age.
Way up there.
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be morbid about this, but does anybody feel confident if
you were that age that you would be around in November?
Yeah.
Let's be honest about this.
I'm real about it.
Exhausted already.
Taking a quick look at just a couple of random things from the Super Bowl, Frito
Lay rebranded the Vegas strip as chip strip.
Chip strip.
Yeah.
They decked out.
So original.
That's right.
They decked out the Luxor Pyramid as a giant Dorito and built a Cheetos themed wedding
chapel next to the fake Brooklyn Bridge.
Okay.
I kind of like that.
That's it.
I like the fake wedding now.
Google Trends live tweeted a bunch of stats on what Americans were searching for during
the game.
During the first half, lots of people were asking Google what the lowest scoring Super Bowl
was.
It was five years ago when only 16 points were scored in Fiftable Super Bowl 53.
And that is, it did feel a little bit like that was good for a shaft for sure.
I did.
Yeah.
Searches for Super Bowl overtime rules spiked at 4,200 percent after regulation ended.
That makes sense.
The phrase nail-biter meme also started trending.
Seth and I will talk about this in playmakers a little bit later today.
But for those that haven't seen the story yet, a handful of San Francisco 49er players were
unsure what the overtime rules were.
Uh-oh.
How does that happen, really?
How does that happen, really?
A little more time before?
I mean, overtime in the playoffs is a little different.
It's a little different.
Yeah.
Regularly, she's been at that different.
And that's coaching.
Like, if you're not, if your players don't know that stuff, that's your job as a coach.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh-oh.
At least the keys Red Piano at halftime caused a big spike in searches for adult piano lessons
near me.
Well, that's, that's so cool.
That is pretty cool.
I like that.
That is pretty cool.
That's me.
And she killed it.
She was amazing.
Yeah.
I didn't get to see the whole halftime show, but to me, she was the best part of the halftime
show.
You didn't miss my idea.
I can't imagine I did.
I'm sorry.
I heard that Usher did a good job, but it was also kind of like, eh.
The roller skates were fun.
It didn't.
When they had a little roller skating thing, that was interesting.
But other than that, yeah.
Uh-uh.
And he sounded great.
He did sound good.
Yeah.
And they can still dance like nobody's business, too, and everything.
But it just, it just seemed like one of those things like it was like, well, it was a
seven out of ten.
It was a, it was good, but no, not like memorable, yeah, not out of the world, kind of.
It was good to see her, though.
And she killed that.
I'm just such a good piano player.
And finally, the best question we googled was, why do football players have tails?
Turns out.
What?
Yeah.
It's just a lot of people mistyping the word towels.
The answer is because people had that towel, you know, so many football players have
towels to wipe their hands off.
Yeah.
Right.
Oh, that's funny.
People were very confused by that.
Tails.
Just.
In their defense, most of them they're searching on their phones and swipe texting or auto
finish.
Yeah.
It's not your friend.
No.
No.
I'm guessing tails comes up before towels.
Yeah.
Some reason tonight is comes up before tomorrow for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's a real time.
That's weird.
That's weird.
I am my typing because I got these big ding hands and no keyboard was ever built for
my thumbs.
And every time I'm trying to hit an S, I hit a D. I can't tell you how many words I misspell
like with a D instead of an S in front of the like, it's not Sands, it's Dan's.
It's anything I'm like trying to spell every time.
It's stupid hands.
There were two record setting field goals in the Super Bowl yesterday, the second and
the second quarter San Francisco kicker Jake Moody drilled a 55 yarder.
And then just a couple plays later, it was K, but San Francisco Harrison Buckner kicked
a 57 yarder.
It's amazing.
Oh my gosh.
It's kind of cool.
Yeah.
Moody also missed an extra point to fourth quarter that ultimately prevented over, might
have prevented over time.
Might have.
Then who knows on that one?
Yeah.
The chiefs had petrible homes and I think that that's all that really battered by the
audience.
Yeah.
The chiefs are the ninth team to repeat as Super Bowl chimps.
The first since the Patriots and all four 49ers have lost the last three Super bowls they've
appeared in.
Wow.
That's kind of crazy considering as kids.
That was the dynasty.
It was.
That was the dynasty of our childhood when we were kids because that was the first dynasty
of our youth and everything.
Right.
It's weird to see that.
The last win for the then was in 95 against the San Diego Chargers and you're reading Kyle
Shanahan where the fourth pair of head coaches to face each other in multiple Super bowls.
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
Patrick Mahomes was 20 years old, 147 days old on Sunday and became he became the first
quarterback in NFL history to start four Super bowls prior to turning 30.
Wow.
It's amazing.
This year's Gatorade Bath was purple just like it was when the chiefs won last year.
Okay.
It's good luck I guess.
Vegas named the San Francisco 49ers the favorite to win the Super Bowl next year and those
are Vegas odds.
Wow.
That was quick.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Jeez.
It's weird how that stuff comes out like instantly.
I know.
Okay.
It's done.
Let's do the odds for next year.
And if you were literally and physically halfway between Kansas City and San Francisco, you'd
be in Green River Wyoming.
Oh.
It's a small town in the southwestern part of the state.
How about that?
I just think that's a kind of a cool stat.
That is cool.
I like that.
Interesting.
Big right there.
A lot of people in Wyoming knew we are celebrating love over here at WFHR.

We're going to throw all these in a hat and pull them out and say, we have an equal chance
of winning.
I had some listeners asking, like, boy, I don't envy you, how you'd have to decide.
And I mean, I would never be able to decide that.
No.
None of us would be able to decide.
Is the story so unique?
You know?
It's so cool.
All these stories are nice.
And I know what you think and all our story, that interesting.
Yes, it is.
More than you know.
Yes, it is.
Oh, I guarantee it is.

I guarantee it's interesting and we want to hear it.
We want to share the love, spread the love, get those stories to us, everybody, and
then buy local support local.
We will take a time out.
We're coming back with the kitchens open and plenty more on the morning show here at
WFHR, where we are locally grown radio.
