joined by Seth Habhagger. Good morning. And we're joined by our great friend, Madison
Raffer, executive director of the Southwark County Main Society. Madison joins us every
Thursday in this time slot with our pet of the week. How you doing, Madison? Good, how are
you? We're doing good here. Appreciate everything that you and your team over there do.
You joining us, you coming into the store, into the shop today. We appreciate that as well.
How are things going over at the Main Society? We're good. We're getting moving on building
renovations. Hopefully, two more weeks is my best gift. That'd be nice, yeah. They're
putting epoxy floors in, so hopefully, canals within the next two weeks. So we're very excited
to see how the rest of it's going to go and to be fully completed, so. That's wonderful.
No, and it sounds like definitely things are going on time. That is really good to hear.
Wonderful. Wonderful. And a big shout out and thank you to that construction team,
the everybody working on that right now. I cannot wait to see that. I was going to,
I know me to put you on the spot on this. I actually meant to message this to you.
When it does get up and running, I'd love to be able to come take a tour and be able to tell
the audience about it. Yeah, definitely not a problem. That'd be great. I know we're going to,
at least our main dogroom floor will be done in at least two weeks. I think the
string intake might be a week or two after that, but yeah, definitely. We're very excited for it
and more than willing to show it off, so not a problem. It's a it's a it's a needed and a wonderful
plus an investment for our community. And it's only going to benefit all of us. It really does
to help all of us medicine. What are some of the things that we can do to help with the
Humane Society right now while you're in this kind of situation with the dogs and the mood in
the construction going on? Yeah, definitely. So I know highest needs at least for supplies
wise where we need a paper towel, 30 gallon garbage bags, as well as kitten wet food. We are
still in kitten season sadly, so we still have a couple that are sitting with us. So we're always
in need of those items in regards to like helping us with the construction part of it. We have
dogs that are sitting in the building that are not supposed to be in the building. It's one of
those things that we are trying to find foster placements for those. So if it's people that are
interested in fostering, please fill out a foster application. Our highest need for dog
fosters is dogs or fosters that don't have other animals in the home. It's one of those things
that, you know, if you're not sure about having a dog or things like that, but you're, oh, you
know what? I'd love to foster. We are desperately in need for fosters that don't have other animals.
Just because some of our shelter animals, at least when we're behavior evaluating them,
sometimes that comes off in the shelter if they don't do well with other dogs or other cats or
whatever. But if it was something that in a home environment, we could retest that later on down
the road after they've decompressed to a home environment, different conversation. But at least for
some of the behaviors we've seen in the shelter, we really just need fosters that don't have other
animals right now. One of my closest friends out in California got me to know the work at this,
he means the sighting in Santa Barbara. And part of the reason he knew people there was because he
would foster dogs, but he was a stan of comic. He wasn't home that often. So he couldn't have
a permanent dog, but he was able to do this and get as he called it as dog fix. You know,
it's something to keep in mind for people out there as well that, you know, I know for me,
I want a dog so bad, so badly, but I know I can't have one right now. I don't have the room for one
right now. It would be selfish and not good for the dog, but I can foster. I could do things like
that and still kind of get that fixed and still have some of that while also knowing I'm helping
one of the more important groups I can help in our immune society. Because I mean again,
it's so hard, especially when we have a lot of dogs in the building that don't do well with other
animals. It's not the fact that they're aggressive towards other animals. They just really prefer
to have the company all to themselves. Hey, I really don't like you. You know what? I want to do
my own thing. And that's totally normal. We again, look at people. People are like that. I'm just
going to say, people are like that sometimes. I guarantee everybody out there just thought of
somebody like that. Oh, yeah, yeah. And for some of them, it was me. Some of them,
yeah. Madison, we've made people wait too long. Who is our pet of the week this week?
Our pet of the week this week is going to be handsome Harry. He is a four-month-old kitten
and his picture actually needs to be updated on the one side because he's been with us for
a little bit. I didn't see this one before, yeah. Yeah. Jim and his brother Pete have been with us
for a little bit now. They're really fantastic cats. They are absolutely obsessed with each other.
They are not bonded, so they don't have to go together. But it is something they've been
together since, again, since they were born. Yeah. But these two boys are just an absolute
hood. It's cleaning in the morning. You will see them just wrestling nonstop. Like you just
clean their kennel and you turn around because you hear a commotion and it's those two just
wrestling all over that at higher enclosure. What were we saying about siblings earlier? Yeah.
Food is flying. Water bulls going everywhere. Blankets are already messed up. Like I think every
morning we have to clean their kennel three times because after we have cleaned it once, they
just go to wrestling. But these two boys are just absolutely fantastic. Very sweet love bugs.
Love to play with each other. But they've been sitting here and they're just one of those cats
or those two kittens that have just gotten passed up and sadly they're growing up in the shelter.
So is there a family they would be a good fit for a type of family to be good fit for them?
Honestly, I mean, as long as you can tell they're a little rambunctious kittens. Like I mean,
I have no doubt they'd be the type of kittens that like two o'clock in the morning. They are
running down that hall. I just throw in each other around like I know for a fact that would
probably be these two. But any family that's looking for a playful group of kittens that they're
just they're great. They're great kids. Cool. With the basics as far as being spayed,
neutered microchipped those things. Yep. Both neutered about microchips both up to date on age
appropriate vaccines, basic dewormers, fliantic preventative. So they're ready to go at any point.
And I hadn't thought of this before with our cats or kittens, but you have a section in here
about declawed. That's something I haven't gotten to talk to you about very much with there.
Is that something that you guys are against or for is that a case-by-case basis? I know it varies
with different vets and different, you know, people that I talked to in your industry.
Yep. It's something that at least with a humane society we will not do. If it's something that
an adapter comes in and wants a cat and wants to get it to clawed, we will talk them through
every resource we possibly can't. We're not against it in the aspect of, you know what? No,
you're not allowed to adopt this cat and you're not allowed to declawed because that's not fair.
Sometimes you have apartment restrictions that require you to have that. But when it does come
down to the point of declawing, we try to find a cat that's already declawed for them or we try to
push towards kittens that it's not going to affect us badly. It's something I personally don't
believe in declawing, but it's not something I'm going to judge somebody against the fact that
they have to get a cat to clawed because there's different things that pop up. We can't really
restrict everything under the declawing. It's not a good thing that I like, but it's something
that I'm not going to stop somebody from adapting an animal because they want to get it to clawed.
I feel the same way, but I would have taken like I'd still be talking about it. Like you worded
that perfectly, Madison. You're really good at this gig. You're really good at this. That's
good to know and we appreciate that. As far as handsome Harry or any of these other great animals,
if people want to find out more about them, how can they do that? Yeah, they're more than welcome to

A little bit later this hour, we're going to get into the five neediest dog breeds according to
a veterinarian. Is there only five? I'm going to put Chihuahua at the top of that. That's my opinion
because I have two of them and I love them. Personal experience. Yeah, I love it. I currently have a
snuggie. A snuggie with a pouch for one of mine and he sits in that for six hours and I just
carry him around like a little kangaroo joke. I mean, I have to say Chihuahua have to be at the
top at least. Yeah, okay. It was the mmm. That was awesome. You were awesome. We appreciate you

man. We've got an episode of a abbreviated episode of playmakers coming up in just moments,
everybody. But before that, I did want to touch on just one entertainment story I saw that I
haven't seen anybody really touching on. Oh, okay. I thought it was awfully noteworthy.
Selena Gomez is going to portray Linda Ronstant in an upcoming biopic. Wow. Yeah. Yeah.
She can totally pull that off. I totally believe it. Check, check, check. Yep. As far as
creed as far as singing capabilities, acting capabilities, like check, check, check. I got so excited
when I saw that I, to be honest with everybody, I know Linda Ronstant, I like Linda Ronstant,
not a gigantic fan or anything. Oh, yeah. But the combination here, I'm a gigantic
Selena Gomez fan. I really do like her work. I think she's such a good actress. That to me just
really won me over. And I think this is such a perfect combination. She confirmed the news on
her social media profiles yesterday. It all started with a simple dream. She wrote an opposed
sharing varieties article announcing the casting. She also posted a link to Rolling Stones reporting,
accompanied by three heartbeat emojis. Gomez teased her upcoming role for playing the prolific
Mexican-American singer by posting a photo of Ron Stent's 2013 memoir, Simple Dreams, on her
Instagram. And you see the photos of the two of them together. Wow. And it all comes home.
Wow. You know, I never even thought about it, but they do look very similar to each other.
Yeah. You know, not identical. No, not at all. Yeah. But it is close enough.
Well, and I don't think a lot of people realized that Linda Ronstant was Mexican-American.
And it's because of her last name. But yeah, she had the darker hair. She had a little bit darker
skin and and but man, that voice. And if anyone can match it, Selena Gomez has an amazing voice.
So yeah, the project is being produced by Ron Stent's manager, John Boylan and James Keach,
who directed the 22 documentary short Linda and the mockingbirds and produced in 2019,
documentary about the singer's life title Linda Ronstant, The Song of My Voice.
Well, the sound of my voice. She that they are well first in their in their material. So
that should be pretty good. I'd be interested in that one. Linda hasn't performed since 2009 due to
a rare neurological disorder. She is now 77 years old. And I'm thankful that I don't want this
to sound more, but I'm thankful she's around to be able to hear this. I hope she's around to be
able to see it. Yes. Yeah, that would be really cool. That's a pretty cool story though. That's
very cool story. Looking forward to how that develops and how that goes. It should be an interesting

now. Yes. Can we talk about everything that's going on? Let's catch everybody up before we
get to the phone lines and why we're doing this. Yesterday Pete Carroll was fired as you see
LC Hawks head coach. Right. Pete Carroll, I believe 14 years. 14 years he was there. Yeah.
One of only three head coaches to win a college football title and an NFL title. Yep.
That was pretty noteworthy and we were all going to give him flowers until Nick Saban retired
like an hour later. Let's bring on our great- our friend Kevin here. Kevin, I know you wanted
to talk about this stuff. Thanks for joining us, man. Before we get into too much of the conversation,
I just have some stats for everybody that I have to touch on here. It was just also announced
that Bill Bell check is no longer going to be with the New England Patriots. It was not said that
he's retiring just that he is not going to be with them anymore. So that leaves the door open for him.
There's just a couple of quick stats on Nick Saban arguably. I'm sorry, unarguably the goat of
college football coaching. It really seems that way. Yeah. 297 and 71 and one career record. Seven
national championships, 11 SEC championships, one Mac championship, five time coach of the year,
two time Paul Bryant award winner, two time Walter Kamp coach of the year, two time AP coach of
the year. This is my favorite stat and this came from Adam Schefter, a shout out to him for this.
A stat of the day, under Nick Saban, Alabama had more players drafted in the first round,
44 than had losses, 29. That's insane. That is something else. Adam Schefter is one of the
most reliable reporters in the world and I had to double check that because it just seemed
wrong. No way. No way. But we have one of our favorites and joins us all the time on Playmakers.
Cav, how are you doing? I shocked. Yeah. Before we get into Playmakers, there's one thing you guys
had on one of your last segments about different chicken places. There is a chick fully coming to
Warsaw. Oh, right. Okay. We're not about that. Yeah. Good call. Good call. Yeah. I forgot
about that. But yeah, when I saw that last night about Nick Saban, I had to message you James and
we can't wait till Monday. You know, then you wake up, then you wake up in the morning and then
now, you know, Bill, a check is gone. So it's like what in the world? I mean, I want to, I want to
start. I mean, go ahead, go ahead. It just, I mean, it's just, it's just, I mean, I think the
whole sports world is shocked. I mean, I didn't get chance to watch the four-letter network.
This was morning to see what was going on. But I'm sure that was all Nick Saban, Bill, Bill, a check
morning. I'm sure on that greeny and good up is probably going crazy. And then, you know,
you can't really stop that, too. The other big news from yesterday was Aaron Rogers getting fired
from ESPN for the rest of the year off the MacaVee show. Yeah. A lot of sports news. There's so
much, so many places and directions we could go. I want to start local. And we're talking about
teams out of the state, of course. But I know that for me, I see this news break. And I think,
oh, a guy like Belichick can be had. He'd be taken a guy like Nick Saban could get to a point
where he wants to retire that these things can happen. Pete Carroll with his body of work.
And even coming off of a good couple of seasons here, seasons that a lot of people thought
rebuilding, but instead reinventing records, both years, reinvented Geno Smith, a lot of that.
But he could be had. He could be gone. And then I look at the Chicago bear who just like, you know,
what? We're just going to sit there and be lazy. Wait, you know, we're just going to keep doing
well, fire all of the other coaches, but we'll keep the head guy. Why not? You know, and look,
hey, it doesn't get much better. You go a little north and everything in Green Bay where a lot of
people are saying that no matter what happens in this playoff game, Barry is keeping his job.
The defense coordinator for the Green Bay Paths, all science are pointing to that right now,
right now. We'll see what happens. But you look at those things as our local teams here.
I'm very, like I was already angry and frustrated, but I kind of got to a point where,
you know, it's the bears. It's Green Bay. This is what they do. They keep, you know,
pretty in house and all of that. But after seeing all of this, I got to think that the fan base is
a bit more like, hey, he's got to go. I don't care if we, we pitch a shut out against Dallas.
Barry's got to go. Like I got to imagine that there's got to be a little more heat.
That that stove is got to be a little hotter. That that seat's got to be a little hotter. Do you
think of it that way? Do you see it that way, Kevin? Well, you know, listen to some of the talking
heads yesterday throughout the day. And I didn't get chance to listen to really anybody last night.
But at one point, you know, you know, frables gone from Tennessee. Yeah. Another one. Here's the
scenario. So he's gone from Tennessee. There was talk if Bill Acheck would stay in New England
that frable might get back up with his buddy with Matt LaFour and maybe be the decordinator
here in Green Bay. Yeah. Yeah. I've heard that. But now a Bill Acheck being gone.
Mike Frabel is probably the front runner to go to New England and be the head coach there because
he played for New England. I think he's got two Super Bowl championships with him. Yeah.
There was three actually. Yeah. Yeah. That'd be a really nice fit for them. I'm curious to know
who who wants that job. I know it's the New England Patriots. I understand they want so many
titles, all of that and everything. Following a legend is not easy. That's hard. You know,
you ask it. It could drive you crazy. I mean, look at Aaron Rogers. I couldn't help myself. I'm sorry.
I couldn't help it. That was low hanging fruit. That was easy. No, this ruined a good story, though.
I was hoping that Bella Check was going to keep his job and that he was going to bring Nick Saban
on as deep sea and bring him on as defense a coordinator. Nick Saban and Bill Bella Check were
to coach on the same sideline together. That was never going to happen. But I at least had the
image. I at least had the, you know, the idea of the possibly happening. Now that's gone.
I'm also thinking of having a geriatric geriatric geriatric. Yes. Yes. Yeah. There you go.
They bring Pete Carolyn. Yeah. The all 70 squad. Yeah.
But in all seriousness, what it tells me to is for one, I think the trope that we all understand
that every, you know, every voice gets old in a locker room after a while, even the legends
in this industry because a lot of people like Dion Sanders and that are saying Nick Saban would
still be coaching if it wasn't for the modern day way of the players and portals and all of this.
There's a good, yeah, they're good argument for that. He's also 72. Yeah. I think it could be a
little column, a little column. Absolutely. You know, I mean, he's also 72. What more can he do?
Many people have said this was his best coaching job this year, this season. What he did with this
team and where they were at the quarter of the season to where they finished and all of that.
That's a pretty cool way to go out if you got to go. True. But it also speaks to the Mike
Tomlins, the guys like this, like we're not going to see this anymore. Matt LaFloor has been there
for a handful of years now. How many more years do you really think he's got? Like even if he wins
a Super Bowl, like I don't know, there's any coach, you can take anybody. If Mike Tomlin and Bill
Belichick and these guys can be had, anybody like nobody say is safe. Yeah. And I think we're seeing
a changing of the guard of the old guard. I mean, we've seen it a couple of times in our lifetime,
but I think we're seeing another shifting period again. Well, I think you're right. I mean, I think,
you know, I mean, I think before, I mean, could he be with Green Bay for another five years? I mean,
we don't know, but he's going to be around a while just because of the age. I mean, you're going
to start seeing the younger generation, younger people coming in and you're going to start seeing
more of the guys that could be sitting baseball. You see the former players coming in and being
coaches and things like that. You're going to start seeing more of that. But I heard an interesting
thing come up of this. And I'm curious to know what you with the listeners think. Again,
you can call up to enjoy the conversation, everybody. One of the things that I've been seeing
reporting that threw me a little bit, not a lot of people want Bella check. That's what I'm hearing.
Not a lot of not a lot of teams are interested in hiring him for various reasons, but not as many
people as you would think are interested in hiring him. That being said, that was being reported
yesterday. I got a feeling that that might change today. Yeah, there might be an uptick in interest now.
Regardless of if you think you can win with him, we have to, I think, especially as fans,
we have to remember that most of these owners are not fans of these teams. They own these teams.
They didn't grow up loving these teams. Not everybody was Jerry Jones growing up in Oklahoma,
loving the Cowboys. It's actually very seldom that that happens. Most of them are going to run it
like a business. And winning a Super Bowl is great because that means you play more games and you
can make more money. But the bottom line is the bottom line. Am I in the black? And the idea of
bringing in a Bella check or some in that headache because he's addict. He's knows that. He said
that about himself. And the money it costs. We don't talk enough about how much money we're spending
on coaches and not just the head coach, but the assistants. And they got a budget. These owners
got a budget in their head. And I guarantee you, there's a lot of talk at Bill Pellcheck going to
San Diego or going to Los Angeles or whatever. They ain't spending that money on you. No,
let's spend that money on him. Unless he goes there for five bucks, they ain't signing him.
The idea that they could just like plop these guys into spots. And they don't think they think
of salary caps, but they don't think about caps for coaches. These owners have a cap for coaches.
And every one of them have exceeded it already. Every one of them, whether they still have their
coach or not, they've exceeded what they want to spend on a coach. Well, yeah. And you know,
and everybody's like, well, what about like Harbaugh? I mean, he's going to come, he's going to
end up coming to the NFL. He's probably making more money at Michigan than he is at
in the NFL. Right. You know, and but the one question I'm going to leave you with is now Wisconsin
was supposed to play Alabama next year on my birthday weekend. And I was really looking forward to
going down there and watching Wisconsin beat Nick Saving and Alabama. Yeah. Yeah. How much,
how much now? I mean, I know it's Alabama. I mean, everybody wants to come. Yeah, yeah.
You get you get that you get to people I know that are done with Texas A&M. They get the BTH
Alabama, you know, how much I mean, is there going to be a lackluster, you know, maybe a little
next year? I think it'd be different if it was five, you know, three, four seasons from now.
But he's still got a lot of former players and coaches that are going to be on that team.
It'll be interesting to see. Yeah. It's still that the the the I mean, the the upper crust, the
blue bloods of college football. His legacy is still there because it's just one year. Yeah.
I'm very curious to see what happens with that legacy because before Nick Saving, Alabama was
looking like they were going to turn in the Nebraska. And we know what happened in Nebraska.
Yeah. I'm very curious to see what happens with that. It's it's hard to get young men and
and people to want to go live in Tuscaloosa. And that's not a shot at Tuscaloosa. That's a it's a
small town, a small area. It's not easy to do that. Immediately that news broke, the very next story
was a five star wide receiver decommitting from Alabama. So they're they're going to see a lot of that.
See some of that. Yeah. And who knows where those kids can end up. Yeah. Yeah.

breeds according to a veterinarian. If you're thinking of adding a fur baby to your family,
consider doing some research on the breed beforehand. A veterinarian listed the five neediest dog
breeds to have. Of course, all pets require attention and lots of love, but these five come with a
few more vet visits, possibly or insurance claims or medical things to be aware of. It does not
at all mean that these are not amazingly wonderful loving animals. Our own Madison, you know,
she's her vote in for this one. And the vote that she had was for Chihuahua's, which she owns two
of and loves to death. Of course. So it's not that they can't work or we're trying to discourage by
any means, anybody. Let's go ahead and get into this. We'll start at, it doesn't look, hear how
they ranked. Okay, so this is in ranked order. All right. So you want to start number five?
Yeah. Let's go ahead. Okay. Dashet hound. Oh, yeah. Some have a Napoleon complex, meaning they're
aggressive to compensate for their small size. They also require exercise to avoid being overweight
and are prone to introvert verbal, verbal disc disease. Oh, because of their long bodies. Yeah,
they're invertebrate. Yeah, they're vertebrae. Yeah. Okay. I keep in mind with them. Yeah.
Yeah. It's a short dog disease, maybe. Yeah. It's like short man disease, kind of.
I feel like now, remember everybody. Docsons were, were bred to fight badgers. Yeah. Yeah.
Took actually go in their holes and fight badgers. I mean, that's insane to me, man. That is
just crazy. Also seems like the badgers rival should be a team with a Dashet hound as a, as a,
as a mascot. I know. You're so right, man. Great. Dane as number four. Wait, different sizes there.
Wow. They require a lot of food and are prone to cancers and heart disease. They also need their
nails trimmed regularly. Hmm. They are big, big dogs. I love great days. I love great days.
Amazing dogs. We had one of the shelter, one of the shelters I worked at. And he was an old guy,
but man, it's such a great person. An old Marmaduke, huh? Yeah. Such a good dog. Labrador retriever,
probably one of the more popular dogs on this list. I think so. They have endless energy and get
into things they are prone to issues with their paws and knee joints. One of the best dogs,
my parents had a black lab, the Zeppelin, the black dog named Zeppelin. Yes. Real original.
Well, one of the best animals, one of the best things I've ever known ever. I don't want to say
just animals. I mean, one of the best things I've ever known. That dog was amazing. I hear you.
Let's see, but they are. They are just, and when I said earlier about chasing a dog,
and it feels like chasing Barry Sanders, I was thinking of Zeppelin. There you go.
The only way we could catch him, we found this out after he got away twice.
The only way we could catch him are my parents' neighbors have a dog. And I went over to pet him.
And Zeppelin immediately came running up to me. He got jealous. Yep. So any time he got away,
that's what we would do. Call the other dog. And he just come booking over. That is so awesome.
And number two on the list, Chihuahua's. Yeah. Oh, they made it. Man, nicely done, Madison.
They're sassy and confident. They also are prone to heart and eye diseases, something to keep in mind.
And partial to Taco Bell. Yes, yes. Of those of you who remember that at campaign from
a long, long ago, that's good. That's really good. I like that. Now, I will say, too,
we're going to get it wrapped us up with French bulldogs. They tend to have neck, knee, and back
problems, heart issues. Since they have a flat snout, they usually have breathing problems as well.
They also require special grooming products or food to keep their skin in good condition.
I love bulldogs. Maybe my favorite dog breed. I don't know if I'll ever be able to own one of my
dreams over retirement. It's actually the own one because I would have time. Then you have time to
take care of it. Yeah. Exactly. That's something to keep in mind with every one of these animals.
And these are like, because these are your purebreds. And that's what happens when you have purebreds
that the DNA starts to break down over time because of the, it's not inbreeding, but because of
the same genetic code that you're going to see dogs with more health problems as we go along.
That's why dogs of two breed, different breeds are usually healthier because they have a
little bit stronger in the genetics. This is not how nature works. Exactly. We've made it work.
We've designed this. This is a human-done thing. We're the ones that created these animals this
way. Yeah. That's why it's on us to take care of these animals. Yes. Oh, absolutely. It's not
their fault. Yeah. We domesticated them. Yeah. I really genuinely believe that with my heart.
It's on us to take care of that. That doesn't mean that I believe that everybody should own an
animal. I just think that everybody should care about this. Exactly. And that's because, you know,
I grew up with animals. You know, I had a cat and a couple of dogs and stuff like that.
I really don't have an interest in animals now. I don't want to own a pet right now for a lot of
different reasons. But I have nothing. Obviously, I grew up with animals and I love the animals
and I was growing up. But it's so I appreciate it when people are able to take care of animals
and stuff like that, that have a passion for it because, you know, not like me, not everyone has
that passion. Yeah. So it's all the more reason why we encourage you to reach out to wherever you're
listening to us, your local Humane Society for us. It is our Southwood County Humane Society and
our friend Madison Raptor and the team she has over there. Whether it's Handsome Harry,
our pet of the week, or it is any of the other great furry friends they have over there,
encourage you to reach out to a Southwood County Humane Society. Whether it is to foster or adopt
or to just see how you can help. What can I do? Right. And it's a great, you know, the fostering
thing is really cool because if you say you've never had a pet before, but you're interested,
but you're not sure you're able to make the commitment. That's a great way to try it out because
you don't have to keep the animal. For parents, you've got that kid that's been bugging you about
having a dog or having a cat or something. Fostering can oftentimes be a way of, you know,
them finding out what this is really like. Yeah, how it is to actually take care of an animal
and all that comes with it. Yeah. It's an opportunity for you as parents as well to see how they
handle this stuff and everything and if they can. And you know, and it gives you an out if they can't.
Exactly. And to me, that's like the smartest thing you can do because then you're not stuck with
a pet that, you know, someone lost interest in. That's kind of the roughest part of it. So

everybody. Happy Thursday to you. It's been a really fun show. We've been enjoying it and
thanks so much for hanging out with us. Yeah. Got one to get in here. You know, we do
then write stories in this time slot from time to time. I don't know if this is a then write one
or not. It's not easy being a travel agent. You know, you're constantly looking for new ways to
innovate and do these days, yeah. You know, and reach new audiences and people and with kayak
and all these other services and stuff. Oh, that stuff around you. It's not easy. So I understand
this to a degree. We just we just beamed out our first ever travel ad for aliens.
And the first place we suggested they should check out Lexington, Kentucky. What? Yeah.
Lexington, Kentucky. I don't know. What? Oh, man. Lexington's tourism board is behind it as a
funny way to draw attention to the city and get more humans to visit. But they really did beam out
a message. They really did this. Wow. They got FAA approval and sent a coded bit map image with
pictures representing prime numbers and the four basic elements of life. They also included a
rough image of the human and two images of horses because Lexington is the horse capital of the
world for those that didn't know. It also shows the chemical formulas for the main molecules in
bourbon. Oh, for crying out loud. Oh, come on now. That's this great. I love I love the idea of
our galaxy having no idea what alcohol is and leave it to humans. We came up with a good job,
guys. What's our contribution to the galaxy alcohol? I know bourbon. And at the bottom, it says,
visit Lexington, Kentucky to encourage them to start planning a vacation to the blue grass state.
They pointed the signal at a solar system called Trappist-1 because we think it has a lot of
planets that could sustain life, which for those that have not read about that, oh my god,
is that fascinating? It's amazing. The discoveries they have made since the James Webb telescope
went up and they've been able to see even further out into the galaxy. They've been finding
these kind of planets all over that I mean, they're starting to find them. Yes, these could
indeed contain some kind of life. We don't know, but there's a good chance. I was talking with
the student the other day who is a very intelligent young man way smarter than I've ever been in my
life. Just graduated from Columbia. Great future ahead of him. I don't think he's going to go into
comedy, but he's been taking some classes and everything. He did not know the difference between a
galaxy and a universe. What? Yeah. Really? Yeah. Yeah. We're not paying attention to space. We're
not talking about it. We're not teaching about it as much or anything like that. It's such an
interesting topic. Fascinating. It's so fascinating. I think that this is just very interesting,
like where we're going with a lot of this, not so much this story, but where we're going with so
much of this. But to be fair, if nothing else, I mean, they mention where they're sending it to and
maybe people will get interested and say, hey, where is that? I want to learn more about this,
the system. So yeah, it's about 40 light years away. So pack a lunch. Get your fruit straight
for your gum and your double big Mac and you're good to go. So any aliens out there won't get
it until about the year 2063. If they respond, we won't hear back until 2103. I love the idea of
somewhere in 2103. Like this story got completely forgot. Yeah. All of a sudden somebody
in Lexington, Kentucky gets a message in 2103. Like, sorry, we couldn't make it. Something came
up. We'll try next year. Bleatflop solar system. Yeah. That would be funny because we are
even if anyone's listening anymore. Well, they respond. I mean, I don't understand.
At least or even better yet, they RSVP. Yeah. That's classy. They still the aliens are classy.
You know, they can't be here. Then at least we'll have the date when the invasion begins.
It would be nice to know. It would be boy, that would be mode of the most cocky things ever.
Like, you know what? That's how confident we are about taking over. We're going to tell you what's
coming. We'll take a much needed break. We'll come back with some fun. We got some good stories

Yes. Yes. I was at the United Ways. Thank you recognition celebration over at Bullseye Golf Club.
Yeah. Did you have a good time? Yes. It was very, very nice.
A lot of people there. It was very nice. Now, you've done this in years past, too.
I have gone. I know we do this off-air a lot of the time, but I really want to thank you.
Publicly, how much I appreciate you, how much I appreciate you doing this for us.
Some of our staff not able to be at some of these events. You being there to represent us
means the world to us. We appreciate you for that. Thank you. It's easy to go there.
Yeah. Right in town here. It's a very nice recognition that they have for everyone that's
involved in the United Way. Did you have something there that you want to read?
Yes. The United Way is very, very close to reaching their 2023 campaign goal.
There's still accepting donations. I believe through the end of January.
I don't want to say the exact amount because I wasn't taking notes and writing everything down,
but I don't want to speak on. We got Terry coming in tomorrow. We can update people tomorrow, yeah.
That's for sure. Like I said, they were quite close and hopefully they can meet that goal.
Terry John's hosted the program part of the event last evening. They did a lot of recognition
of people or companies who are involved with fundraising for United Way and some of the
benefactors of recipients of United Way funds. It's a very cool event that they do. It's a nice
way for them. For them, they look at it as a way to say thank you to the community, to these
sponsors and these businesses to back them. I think of it also as a way of us being able to take
a moment to appreciate them and see all the good work that they're doing. They can do more,
they can continue to do this work if we can help them with this campaign.
Right, right. Brian DeWitt was also had a short part in the program. He was the 2023
campaign chair. That's very congratulations to him. He was on here with us a number of times.
Looking forward to talking more about this with Terry tomorrow when she joins us, Terry John,
CEO of United Way of Southwood and the Ames counties. I really love the plaque. I'm a fan of
this stuff. I love these things. I can't get we can't get enough of them and it means so much to
us to have something like this in our building. It's very nice. It's community cornerstone partners
award. It's a 2023 benefactor for civic media, WFHR and WIRI radio. That's wonderful.
Get that displayed. Yeah. We're probably going to nail in the wall there pretty soon. Yeah,
we'll get that up. Any chance to hang something. I will take it. Yeah. I'm sorry. I love doing it.
I love that stuff. Good stuff. We love you, Pam. We appreciate you. Thank you so much for what
you do and going to the event yesterday. That wasn't a problem at all. Glad you had fun.
