That's one of the trick to me.

We kick off the night of clock hour on Thursdays.

Every Thursday with our great friends over at the South of County Main Society.

We have an executive director, Madison Rafter, with us.

How are things going over at the shop?

We're good.

We're trying to along on building renovations.

So trying to handle that, and we're doing what we can.

But it's going well, and we're happy and excited for building renovations to be done.

We are very excited for you.

We're excited for what this means for our community, for what it means for the Main Society.

Your staff, and most importantly, these animals.

It's going to be really exciting.

Before we dive into things local, I wanted to get a good story out there for us.

And we're going to have, we're going to have it in our good stories of the day.

But since you're here, I thought it'd be good, noteworthy.

And I hope it encourages our community.

Just, this is an interesting one.

Just going to give you the headline and a little bit of info on it.

California Shelter greets the new year with all 129 dogs adopted.

That's fantastic.

Wow.

A California animal shelter announced it met its goal of finding new homes for every dog at the facility.

It's time in time for the new year.

The second chance animal shelter of Selma announced it in a Facebook post.

The dog kennels are completely empty.

The shelter had aimed in early December to find new homes for all of the 129 dogs by New Year's Eve.

As the shelter's contract with the city was not renewed for 2024.

The shelter bested its goal by two days.

Wow.

Sad story there about the shelter not being operational anymore.

Yeah.

Very encouraging story to hear going forward with that.

And hopefully into 2024.

And getting more and more adopted, more and more of these animals adopt and going to good homes.

Yeah.

No, that's a crazy story.

And I'm happy that they were able to get all their dogs homes, but sad that they're not being supported much anymore.

It brings two interesting notes to mind where we've got a society that is becoming more and more love friendly and animal friendly domesticated animal friendly.

And at the same time, we're not, we know the funding, we're not taking care of a lot of these animals.

You know, it's an interesting thing and I think it's something that should be on everybody's radar.

Yeah.

We currently have a situation, not a situation, but we're doing something different with our dogs right now over at our shelter because of the work that's being done over there.

How's that going?

It's going good.

I mean, we've got seven, eight dogs in the building right now.

So we're kind of popping them up in the building where we can.

We have a space where we've got some larger canals.

Then we have a couple pop ups.

Our staff are still getting them out every two hours.

So they're getting that exercise.

They're not cooped up all day.

But any stories that are off of story hold and then are either waiting for surgery or ready for adoption pretty much get placed into fosters.

So all of our available dogs will be in foster care.

But then all of our dogs that are waiting story hold are in the buildings.

It's going well.

We've got a lot of foster parents that are willing to foster and we're doing really good with that.

It's just a matter of getting some of these kiddos adopted.

Yeah.

Let's try to help with that.

Who is our pet of the week?

Our pet of the week is actually going to be four dogs.

And it is a group that came in together.

So we have dancer, prancer, comment, and Cupid.

Nice.

The kiddos came in a little before Christmas.

They are not on the website.

What they will be later today.

They are four menpent boys.

We don't know where they came from.

We're not sure a lot of their background history.

But it is all four boys.

And there's two reds and two brown and reds.

They adjustimate.

They're about a year to two years old.

So they're younger males.

Not potty trained quite yet.

But everybody is neutered up to date on vaccines and microchips.

If there's a family looking for a dog like this, definitely one that has a lot of energy.

These boys are lots of energy.

All four of them are in one foster home.

And they have a basement to themselves.

They destroy toys.

They have a glass down there.

And that's what they love doing.

Wow.

They are living the best life right now.

Those dogs.

They are living their best life.

I'm envious of these dogs.

That sounds like a great way to spend your day.

When it comes to these dogs, are we trying to get them all adapted together?

Can they be adapted solo?

They can be adapted solo.

They can be adapted in payers.

It really does not matter.

They're not really bonded to each other.

Nobody needs to go together.

But if it's something that you're interested in too, we're definitely open to that conversation.

They're all living together right now.

They're all do fine together.

But they definitely amp each other up.

And they're definitely a little bit on the naughty side sometimes.

They really like to chew on stuff.

So they've gotten into, they have a little kid mattress bed down there.

And they have shredded that multiple times now.

All their Christmas toys are completely shredded.

Starting to sound like me and my younger brother.

They're definitely a little naughty.

But they just, they love to play.

They just want to be around.

They want to play.

They're all learning how to fetch right now.

So watching the whole crowd of them go running after them all, it's a blast.

There's certainly, it sounds like it.

There's certainly lots of different styles and types of families that these guys would be a good fit for.

But there are, especially when it comes to energetic dogs, there are certain families that would be a really perfect fit.

A really good fit for them.

And we're thinking families maybe with younger kids, things like that.

They do great with kids.

They have an absolute blast with kids.

Definitely just anybody who's looking for a dog that's small, but once an energetic dog wants to get them out, wants to go on walks, things like that.

These boys, they're a hoot and a half to watch and they're just, they're great dogs.

So anybody who's looking for an active dog that wants to get out, wants to get them out doing things.

Any of these boys would be perfect for them.

And if you're hearing that, you're kind of like, well, that, that's the opposite of what I want.

I'm looking for a dog that's the opposite of that.

They got that over there to the main society too.

We do, noodles still there and noodle is just a little love bug.

Be sure to, you know, whatever your, it'll fit your family, it'll fit your home.

Be sure to reach out to your local Humane Society.

If you're in the Wood County area here, our friends over at the Wood County.

We, we really, the Humane Society not only needs your attention and help with adopting these animals, but bringing awareness to this and what's going on.

Maybe you don't, you, you live in a apartment, you can't adopt an animal or something like that.

You can still help.

You can still spread the word about these things.

You can share their pages, reshare them.

That's another way of doing it.

Any other ways we can help out with the team over there, Madison?

Yeah, we're always in need of donations.

So right now, our highest need is cat food and cat litter.

We still have lots of cats and a couple of litters of kittens still coming back that we're waiting on.

And then if anybody is interested in volunteering, our volunteer applications will open again after building renovations are done.

Excellent.

And any word on that?

How's the construction going?

Is it on time?

At this point, I don't know.

I quit.

I honestly quit asking just because I don't want high expectation hopes up this point.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It's supposed to be end of January, but I'm not really asking anymore just because you know what?

As long as it gets done, that's fine.

Right, right.

And we appreciate the work they're doing over there.

They're doing really good work.

Every time I drive past it, I'm seeing more and more getting done.

And it's going to look so good over there.

I'm so excited for you guys and these dogs.

And it's going to be fun.

I'm so excited.

I picked pink colors yesterday.

So yesterday we touched on this.

No word yet from Aaron Rogers.

But Pat McAfee is doing everything he can to kiss the mouse's ring.

So Pat McAfee, catch everybody up on this one that doesn't know.

Biggest podcast out there, biggest YouTube page out there.

He turns down a bigger contract with another company to take the money with Disney.

Because of the what that allows, the stage that that gives.

When you're on Disney, when you're a part of ESPN, there's no bigger pulpit in sports.

Right.

And it's owned by Disney.

So that comes with a little bit of understanding that, hey, you're going to walk the Disney line now.

Right.

When you become a member of any Disney corporation nowadays, I don't know if this is always the case.

But they say, hey, welcome to the family.

Right.

They're a part of the Disney family now.

And they do that for two reasons.

One, because you are.

And by all rights, it does seem like Disney does seem to treat some of it.

Some, if not all, its employees fairly well.

And they try to do that a lot of that.

Then there's also the other side of it, you're under Disney's watch now.

Yes.

Watch your language.

Watch what you talk about certain things.

No politics, no religion, no sexual talk, no swearing, et cetera, et cetera.

Now, this is the opposite of what the Pat McAfee show is.

But Pat is told by the Disney executives and by everybody, you are going to be able to do your things still.

We'd like you to tone down the swearing, but otherwise we're going to let you be Pat McAfee.

So they do this.

And in essence, in many ways, by not me saying this, but by a lot of the talking heads out there, they kind of sell out.

Because they get rid of like 90% of their workforce and 90% of the people that we grew up watching on sports and enjoying and all that.

And they bring in Pat McAfee because this is what the game is now.

That's where it's gone to the Pat McAfee's other world.

And part of the reason they do this is because Pat McAfee has a weekly interview with Aaron Rogers.

He's the only one that's got this.

Which he pays for, by the way.

Which we found out recently, he pays him a million dollars to do this interview.

Yep.

Yes, he does.

Right.

Right.

And what do you get for-

I needed more reasons to dislike him.

And what do you get for that million dollars trouble?

You get trouble.

You get a bunch of nonsense and a guy who doesn't have any facts or anything to back up anything he's saying.

And he just goes on there and accuses-

Now keep this in mind as well.

Disney is owned by ABC.

ABC is one of their biggest faces of that network is Jimmy Kimmel.

That's right.

So Aaron Rogers not only shoots himself in the shoots the company in the foot in Disney by doing this, by taking a shot at Jimmy Kimmel.

But he also has no standing on this.

No facts.

Nothing to base this on.

He just, he accuses Jimmy Kimmel of sexual, like being a sexual predator.

Which, and here's the other thing.

This is something that most businesses, most companies that work in media will tell you.

Literally day one.

You can do almost anything.

Don't accuse somebody of sexual harassment or sexual abuse or any of these things.

Like it's literally like day one on page one.

Don't do this.

And Aaron Rogers doesn't.

And so, who has left to pick up the pieces?

Who has to make this right and everything is pat McAfee?

Aaron Rogers hasn't said a word about this yet.

Nope.

The list came out yesterday.

Jimmy Kimmel was not on the list.

Of course, yeah, of course not.

But Aaron Rogers hasn't said a darn word.

Which, as a side note, I guess we found out how to shut up Aaron Rogers.

Bring up, bring attorneys to the fold.

We could have-

I have a feeling a lot of people in Wisconsin would have liked to have known that information a lot earlier.

Right.

So, so Pat McAfee, you know, fell bowed down and everything kissed the Disney ring.

And long story short, Aaron, Pat McAfee has sort of apologized.

He said, we obviously don't like to be associated with anything negative ever.

So we apologize for being a part of it.

I can't wait to hear what Aaron has to say about it.

Hopefully those two will just be able to settle this.

You know, not work wise, but be able to chit chat and move along.

Pat also thinks that Aaron Rogers was just-

He was just talking junk.

He was just talking junk.

Why are we-

It's our fault for taking it so seriously.

So what?

How dare we?

It's-

They walked this little-

Yeah, this misdirection and this little wonderful-

Now, let's say that something had come of this.

Well, then all of a sudden, he's a truth teller.

And Aaron is willing to talk about things that nobody else is and everything.

Blah, blah, blah.

You know, keep the tinfoil hat tight.

They like to take the credit, but they don't take the responsibility.

Yeah.

Which is exactly what this is.

That's why we will not hear from Aaron Rogers.

He's not going to take responsibility for his words.

No.

Aaron Rogers never took responsibility for an interception.

He threw a little on top like this.

No, no. He threw all the touchdowns.

He never threw the interceptions.

You never heard that man have accountability.

Like it never, never, never.

It was-

And now it's saying he always threw under people under the bus,

but it was always very vague blame that he would throw around.

He couldn't-

He wasn't strong enough to actually like settle on something.

I heard Mike Scherr, creator of Parks and Recks,

and a couple of other great shows, really good guy, really, really good guy,

talking about Aaron Rogers a little bit.

And he had a theory that if Aaron Rogers had one more, this wouldn't have happened.

Like the idea that like Tom Brady is no different.

Like Tom Brady's got crazy thoughts or whatever, but because he's won so much,

he's good.

Like he doesn't have this angst to him.

He doesn't have this like, my life should-

Because we all know that person that has those delusions of grandeur.

My life should have been this.

My life shouldn't have been that blah, blah, blah, get in line.

Everybody's got that.

The idea that if Aaron-

If Mike McCarthy just had been a better coach,

and Aaron Rogers had won one or two more Super Bulls,

none of this would happen.

I don't know if that's true, but I love the idea of them there.

Might be something to that?

I don't know, man.

I think it's all-

I think it's all reality.

Yeah, yeah.

I personally find it hilarious.

I find it hilarious up into the point people take him seriously.

Right, exactly.

And then we have to be like, oh, oh.

If Aaron Rogers was telling me how to spell his name, I wouldn't take him seriously.

But it's gotten to that point now.

It's gotten to that point now where we admitted two A's and Aaron.

I don't know about that.

That sounds crazy.

I'm not sure if that's how you really spell that.

He's done this to himself.

Yeah, that's absolutely.

When is the last time that you heard Aaron Rogers say something

that was either factual, interesting, or creative, or funny,

or et cetera, or et cetera, win?

When is the last time I heard his name and didn't roll my eyes?

Oh, that's a good point.

But my Nana and many people that I grew up with loved soap operas in a specifically general hospital.

Can't we have their fans?

And as an actor, I value soap operas.

So many of the actors that all of us love got their start because of a lot of them did.

And whether you like them or not, whether you think whatever you think of soap operas,

I don't know how you cannot respect the writing teams of soap operas.

There are no repeats.

There are no reruns.

They've got to come up with new material constantly.

It's a 24.

I mean, somebody who has to do something a little similar to that coming up with content every day.

16 segments every day.

It's difficult.

It's tough.

It's not an easy gig and everything.

And they have to write it with like you come up with new ideas and ad care.

I mean, think of all the people they have to write for.

It's amazing.

So Susan Loots you fought a bear.

I mean, you come up with something.

Yeah.

It's all going to be gold.

It's going to happen.

But I read that and I got excited.

And then I see the 9 o'clock start time.

We had a lot of repeat people came again from Tuesday night, which was cool.

We did have a newer person, so we were able to go through some stuff again and get where

we needed to be with our cast.

We are real excited about the four people that will be joining us for that, including Melissa.

And we've got to read through tonight.

And then we get to work, while we're already working on it.

But we get to work.

And so stay tuned.

We'll be talking about it as we go along here.

And as you hear, Melissa slowly gets more tired every day.

She tries to go through, putting together, and it's a, it's a, it's a role.

I mean, Amanda Wingfield is one of those great theater roles of all time.

Yes.

And it's a, it's a fun.

I'm sure Melissa is going to have a lot of fun with it, but it's a lot of work, too.

So, yeah.

I'm excited.

Yeah.

Melissa, how are you feeling about it?

Excited.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I'm really looking forward to the read through tonight, because things were a little chaotic

last night as the cast was announced, and we all kind of went our separate ways in

a little bit of a fog, I think.

Yeah.

It's true.

Like, just, you know what?

So yeah, I'm looking forward to actually getting to sit down with my three new castmates

and the team and go read through the script together.

It's going to be awesome.

I agree.

The productions we'll begin in March.

We'll be talking more about this as we get closer.

We're going to have you and the cast on for directors, Kat will have a special show of

that.

And talking with you guys, I'm sure we'll have a midday magazine where we bring you guys

on as well.

But for right now, I did want to take the opportunity since you're with us, both of

you guys are with us.

Just touch on the show a little bit, because this is going to be such a, it's a different

take on the play than most have seen, but not for you, Seth.

No.

As a matter of fact, the whole reason I wanted to be a part of this in the directing capacity,

I'm co-directing with Beth, my wife, because she has some more experienced directing theater.

So we're kind of teaming up on this one.

And I was a part of a show, the Glassman Ashery, that was a multimedia one.

It's described, Tennessee Williams described it as a memory play, which means it's not going

to be facts and figures, kind of thing like, this is exactly how it happened.

You got to think of it as like you're remembering something.

And of course, we don't remember things correctly.

We add things.

We subtract things, that sort of stuff.

So I thought, well, what a way to make it feel like a dream, you know, when I was in

it before, with some film, with some voiceover, with montage, with silhouette, make it feel

not quite real, you know, make it feel a little different.

And I thought, that's great.

And being a part of that one, I enjoyed it so much.

And now I want to do it again.

I want to be able to do it on the other side.

It gets some new performers in there and to do this kind of different way of doing it.

So we're going to have, like I said, we're going to have video or film.

We're going to have voiceovers with, like, montage and, like, I guess, Kelly, I don't know

how else to say it, you know, like, you'll see, like, images on the screen with voiceover.

What they're talking about, that sort of thing and some other stuff.

So I'm just looking forward to, yeah, that, you know, I'm starting to figure out, you

know, what the technical aspect, you know, like, how do I do this and this?

And that's going to be the challenge.

But I hope in the end, you know, it'll be an experience for everyone, a different kind

of experience.

And with the, go ahead, Melissa.

Beautiful facility at Wisconsin Repetition Theater and all of the, you know, opportunities

that we have there with lighting, with tech, with sound.

I think it's a phenomenal opportunity to really try to fulfill your vision with this.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, I agree.

100%.

The new executive director of at WRCT, Gretchen Powers, we had a meeting a couple weeks

ago and we're, Gretchen, I were talking about this.

In part, I couldn't agree with you more, Melissa.

I think it's a perfect stage for this.

We have a little experience with this already.

If you saw, it's a wonderful life, a while back, Gretchen did a little of this with the

backdrop.

It was easier to do, you know, the falls, so much of that setting of its wonderful life

was, it was really projected there and it was, it was really cool, it was interesting.

And our set pieces were simple and we were able to move them in and out and change the

whole stage so much easier, right?

I felt.

Yeah.

And that was just that little bit there.

I can imagine with what you're doing.

There, every, that's Broadway right now, everybody is trying, and movie theaters, everybody's

trying to get people to go and see live entertainment or go see movies now and everything.

Right.

Nobody knows what to do to make that happen.

I genuinely believe that this is one of those ways, giving people a new way, I've seen

the glass managerie, but wait a minute, I haven't seen it like this, you know, and

a lot of that.

I think that reimagining of these things can only benefit us as a culture, as a society,

all of that.

I mean, all of that.

I think theaters, that important I think, live entertainment I think is that important.

And it's going to be cool to see, I cannot wait.

So we're going to go to break right now because I still haven't heard what I'm doing in

the show.

I got to figure out.

I want to find out what I'm, am I a tree, am I, am I a bush, because I can make, I am

a mean bush.

I am great.

And just being neat still, I can do it.

My hair alone is a good bush, you know, it is, it's, it's, it's, it's got good, I agree.

Good volume there.

Yeah.

Can I send a shout out though to everybody who auditioned because I, I was blown away by

the talent that auditioned for the show and I'm humbled to have gotten the part.

So I just want to send a huge shout out to everybody else that auditioned as well.

Oh, 100% agree.

It was great to see the, the people that came.

It was awesome.

A big part of the reason why I wanted to talk about this is to encourage people with

the next production and production after that.

Yeah.

Don't worry.

If you forget these, they are right there at the National Park website.

You can just go to nps.gov, nps.gov, and find all that information there, and as well

as other information about our national parks.

One of the great things of this country, the national park system is an amazing testament

to the diversity of ecologies that the United States is within our borders here.

And the fact that we have these just amazing vistas and these amazing places to go, this

for everybody, everyone to share, it's just, it's one of the things I'm most proud of

in the United States is that we have something like this that's so cool.

And the DNR actually just released the public land access lands atlas for Wisconsin.

Real oh yes.

Yeah.

We have, there's 441 maps in there that covers all of the land that's available to us to

enjoy.

Wow.

How cool is that?

I got to look into that.

That's really interesting.

First off, to touch on what Seth was just saying there too, I was talking earlier about

we are a consumer society, America is a capitalist society.

If we see land, we want to build something on it, that's what we've been doing since

we got to this country.

Privatize it, right?

That kind of thing.

The fact that we have this, it's still in place with as crazy as we can be with businesses

and consumerism and all of that, I value that about our country.

I appreciate that and I hope it never changes.

I can't look my kids in the eye and say it won't, but I'm hoping that's just a cynical

part of my brain because I don't know.

I don't imagine that I try to get myself scenarios, what can happen to change that?

It's 2024.

Anything can happen.

I don't know anymore.

I don't know, but I do think that it's important for us to use these parks so that if that ever

were to be the case, if it were to ever come up, hey, what happens to your parents when

you're a kid?

You're not using this.

We're getting rid of it.

They are something like that.

I don't want that to even be a chance.

I don't want that to even be a scenario.

Let's use our national parks, let's appreciate the people that work in them.

Give them a shout out and a big thank you and enjoy.

It's a new year and a lot of resolutions are out there.

And I am not going to be used the low hanging fruit if you've already failed that you're

new to your resolution or something like that.

I'm encouraging you.

I'm going to assume you're going strong.

And if you've had some speed bumps or anything like that, they're just speed bumps.

Keep on moving.

Keep trying.

It's only the third day of the year.

So it's not too late to set your new year's resolutions or only trick will be achieving

them.

And part of that is staying motivated.

But we've got you covered with that.

We've got some tips here about keeping that resolution to it in 2024.

And we've kind of gone over some of these.

But these are specifically, you're already in the middle of the year and you're not in

the middle of your resolution, but maybe in the middle of deciding what you want to do

or what have you.

So be specific.

Instead of vague goal, like wanting to exercise more, be specific.

I want to take a walk every day or every morning.

Right.

Okay.

Break it down like that.

Simplify it a little bit.

See the squirrel doesn't get all of its food for the winter in one go.

It picks up those nuts one of the time.

Yep.

Unless you're on ice age.

Nice.

Shout out to ice.

Make them achievable.

Be real realistic and choose things that are achievable.

Otherwise you may become discouraged and give up.

I want to put on weight.

It is not realistic for me to, you know what, by the end of the year, I want to look

like the rock.

Like that's probably not going to happen, right?

I'm going to lose 30 pounds by Tuesday.

Yeah.

Right.

I'm not going to.

But, you know, maybe you lose a pound or two or maybe I put on a bit of weight, you

know, by the end of the year here, there'd be a realistic look.

Hey, wait, I'll give you mine and we're good.

We're good.

We're all good.

I would that it worked that way, right?

I'm not sharing.

I literally wish it worked that way.

I shouldn't.

Can I just give you some of this?

Like I was borrowing money from Melissa or something.

Write them down.

Use a planner or vision board to help you stay on track and to visualize your goals.

Something that you see every day.

I got to be honest.

I've never put too much stock into some of that stuff.

But I have, in recent years, tried it in a part, I tried it with acting.

I did this with, I was struggling with my Sherlock lines.

And I had never done this before, but I tried it with it's a wonderful life.

And then I did it with Sherlock.

And what I recorded myself doing the lines and listened to them over again.

And then I would put them up, I would write them out and put them up in front of me and

have them out.

And just something about it made it stick better.

Oh, okay.

Very cool.

And I think the part of that was the goals in there too.

Like I do.

I do think that that can work for people.

I counted everybody's different, but of course, but no, I think that's really cool.

Something to try anyway.

A daily reminder of, yeah, this is what I'm working towards.

This is what I need to do.

Prioritize your goals.

Don't try to tackle too many at the same time.

Pick a few that are most important.

All right.

Create a plan, break each down into more mandible tasks and schedule time to work on them.

Track your progress.

Keep track of things.

Regularly review your progress to make any necessary adjustments to your plan.

And I will also include to that, to give yourself the little wins.

Yes.

Hey, I made it a week.

Hey, I made it two weeks.

That's awesome.

Maybe your goal is to make it the rest of your life, but hey, you got to start small.

Positive reinforcement.

That's right.

Also, don't beat yourself up over the lapses because maybe in that week there was a day

you didn't.

And that's okay.

That's okay.

And that leads us to avoiding negative self-talk.

Don't beat yourself up, just as Melissa and Seth were talking about here.

If you're struggling to stay on track with your goals, remember each day is a new day.

Replace your negative self-talk with positive affirmations.

We can all be stewarded smallly.

Just look in the mirror.

You know what?

I like me.

I'm okay.

Dog on it.

Good person.

New day.

It's a new life.
