Chakari, tell us how you got started in music.

What's your backstory?

Well, the story is I sang before I spoke, and if I can remember it

the right

way, that's very true.

And in 2021, I decided after I had my baby, I would be doing music, and it would be the thing that makes a good life for us.

So I started performing like all the time then, and I've been doing it ever since.

Wow.

What was your parents' role in your singing?

You said you were singing before you were born, so your mom must have been around.

Yeah, my mom was around.

She's been around my whole life.

I

mean, musically.

Yeah.

I really found it on my own, really.

I think the music she listened to was definitely something that caught my ear and eye.

But throughout life, music has just found me, and I've just went right along with it.

So I wouldn't give any of the things to my parents on that one, although I would thank them for a lot of the things.

Now, do you play any other instruments or are you just strictly a singer?

You know, I've tried to learn the piano and I've tried to learn the guitar, but I'm way better at singing than

both of those.

Well, you just said you had a baby, your mom.

Do you sing with your daughter?

Yes.

And I'll take those things and I'll just make a song out of it.

My experience is how I make.

am from Madison.

I was born here at St.

Mary's.

So was I. Me too.

Everything you hear tonight was recorded in my on my phone in the bathroom.

That's how I do it.

when you're singing in the shower,

really is without the water

I mean so

Cause I mean, normally, right?

I use band

lab on my phone.

So that's like, I use that.

I use the, the corded headphones, like those there.

I just plug it in.

I'll play the song and I'll listen and I freestyle.

I get all of these by freestyling and then going back and working it out.

popping in with people just left and right.
