And that's where the inspiration for I'd like to teach the world to sing came about from that guy in that show.

The job market in Wisconsin continues to grow.
New data from the Department of Workforce Development shows the state added 11,000 more jobs in March.
We're seeing the most growth in service-providing positions, construction, and some manufacturing sectors.
Unemployment continues to hold steady at about 3.2%, which is below the national average of 4.2%.
Our labor participation rate here in Wisconsin is also higher than the national average.
Economists are watching these numbers closely, however, as tariffs put employers in uncertain situations.
A 37-year-old Washera County man has been sentenced to eight years in prison and five years supervised release in federal court after pleading guilty to dealing firearms, including machine guns without a license, being a felon in possession of firearms and possession of firearms while drug trafficking.
Court records indicate that John D. Taylor and his co-defendant, 31-year-old Allison Mundt, offered firearms and methamphetamines for sale.
When conducting a search warrant, law enforcement seized 35 firearms, including machine guns, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and pistols, some with no serial numbers, as well as over 1,700 rounds of ammunition.
Mundt was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years extended supervision in federal court as well.
Liveability.com Green Bay and Appleton join Madison as the Wisconsin cities on its best places to live list.
Now the list isn't ranked but it calls out 100 small to mid-sized cities that are considered for their economy, housing and cost of living, amenities, transportation, environment, safety, education and health.

I believe the guy in Kansas City, they weren't totally notified about anything until like April 7th, two years ago.

It's by design because what the NFL wants to do, they don't want to take away from what's going on at present time.

Right, so like right now the drafts, so all eyes are on the drafts, so that's why they're leaving nuggets daily.
You know, they're giving you nuggets daily since the Combine.
They don't want to take away from the Combine.
They don't want to take away from the Super Bowl.
They don't want to take away from the playoffs.
So that's why they don't do that.
So after the draft, what happens after the draft?
Well, after the draft is a schedule.
So in two to three weeks, the NFL schedule will come out.
You know, they'll leave you a nugget or two like that.
They are, they are very good at finding where to control the media.

And that's what they do.
They don't want to take away from the thing that's going on at the present time.
So like for
the, and I will say this, having been in the media for 127 years, you want those things.

You know cute little story if you guys remember way back when around oh 2008 2009 the Packers had their only band club and it was called the Packer Partners Club of Champions you guys remember that

It was the only Packer sponsored fan club in the world.
And it was run by the Green Bay Packers, a gal by the name of Michelle Poblaki.
Used to head up the organization.
She's since left and I think she just real estate up in northern Wisconsin a little bit.
So anyways, they had their first ever, the ultimate hacker fan contest and it was a photo contest.
So I took a photo from my seats in the North end zone of the flag draped out over the field.
What section?
Section 100 between the upright North row 50.
All right.
Oh, I'm up high.
I got a perfect view right in the center of the field, submitted the photo and I won the ultimate hacker fan contest.
Well, that's cool.
Yeah.
So that's that's really how it all began.
And upon winning that, you know, I got tickets to the Mike McCarthy show and, you know, all different things of that nature.
And apparently it went on some kind of casting list or whatever.
So I ended up getting doing these Miller beer commercials in 2010.
When they had the when we won the Super Bowl and That's the following August, you know before we had the the opening game I was invited to attend the the NFL you'll take part in the NFL commercial between there the New Orleans Saints up there with the live matching marching band and That was a
big night.

I've still got a bunch of those.

was the greatest throat collecting those.

I don't know if you guys probably don't know a lot about New Hampshire, but it used to be the textile capital of the world.
So along to Merrimack River, there's all these tanneries.
Well, my best friend's dad was the maintenance supervisor for all of these tanneries.
So on Saturdays, we'd go in to work with him and he just walked the floors.
Well, while he was walking the floors, he gave us the key to the soda machines and we'd go over and we'd empty the bottle caps into this five gallon bucket and we'd collect all these coke caps, put them on the placards and mail them into the placards and get photos and footballs and all kinds of stuff that you could win by collecting all these bottle caps.
That was so nice.
I still have my collection of bottles.

So anyways, that's when I fell in love love with the Packers and then you know moving on in life when I was in my middle 30s I was master plumber out in New Hampshire and there was a recession going on back in the early 90s late 80s early 90s and Somehow I get involved with the plumage union in Wisconsin.
I flew out I talked to him
and they gave me a job out here and I went to work as a project manager for one of the larger mechanical contractors and been here since.
So,
okay, tell me, I get it how you got here and then you took that picture and you became the ultimate Packer fan and then you yourself were the Packers.
How'd you parlay this into, I mean, I see you at every game and at, like you said, TV commercials.
I
mean,
people...
You don't really get into the game for a while because everyone wants their picture with you.
How did you market yourself?
Did you hire someone to do it?
Did you do it yourself?
The Packers do it?
You know what?
Something like this honestly comes natural.
You know, you just don't become a super fan because you jump in front of a camera.
You know, many things you do, but it's what goes on behind the scenes.
And I don't want to sound, you know, modest or anything, but I do a lot, a lot of charity work and I find in my heart and, you know, other other super fans were
Our hearts all in the same place.
It's about giving and it's about supporting good stand conduct.
You know, things of, and it comes to you.
It really does.

Either, you know, I'll reach out and get Steve invited or vice versa and it just works.
So these characters,
other teams do this too, right?
But not as much.
I've been to almost every away game the Packers played for 20 years, whatever, but you don't see the pre-game thing.
Maybe they are now, but...
Green Bay was really unique even with tape.
I remember going to a Patriots game in probably 1995 six and people have these little tiny Hibachi's versus like Green Bay with the big.

The City of Green Bay unveiled its first battery electric bus, or BEB, Monday.
The bus will be part of the downtown Tuttle Town shuttle service during the NFL Draft this week and then will become a regular part of the Green Bay Metro Transit fleet.
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich said, this bus is just the beginning of our journey toward a carbon neutral Green Bay.
Each electric bus costs about $1.2 million and was funded through federal surface transportation block grant dollars.
The Green Bay Area Public Schools Board of Education approved the sale of three elementary school buildings during a special board meeting on Monday.
The over $1.7 million from the combined sale of Frable Garden of Early Learning, Keller Elementary, and Wequiock Elementary Schools will be used towards the Green Bay Area Public School District's projected $10 to $12 million budget deficit for the 2025-26 school year.
In addition to the build
sales, the board also approved a land swap of 22.6 acres of land with the village of Bellevue.
A federal grand jury has issued an indictment alleging that an Oshkosh man attempted to an employed and minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography.
The indictment alleges 43-year-old Bradley Hounsell coerced a minor in the production and distribution of child pornography via the internet.
If convicted, Hounsell faces 15 to 30 years in prison and could be fined up to $250,000 and would also be required to register as a sex offender.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
Hounsell will be tried in federal court.

We came with the idea to raise a thousand pounds of food for all the local colleges, food pantries.
We're
going to say this and having both gone through kids, three kids actually,
all
through college.
College kids go hungry sometimes, you know people don't realize that it's a true fact.
It's so it's so funny I'm gonna read this stat for you 83% of the college students that took the survey at St.
Norbert's answered yes That they do believe food aid is a need at St.
Norbert's College.
I believe that absolutely that is 83% and then 38.9%
said that one or two times a semester, they have often felt the food supply is inadequate.
33% said three to four times a semester, and 5.6% said five or more times a semester.
So could you imagine that we're trying to educate our young men and young women, especially on a college level.
Have to worry about some of these issues.
I was I was in a tough situation in college at Arizona State Everything's all party school great.
Okay, and there were times like on the weekends when the the dorms the things and you didn't have any money
I mean, you know what I mean?
You're a college kid, and I was doing an internship at a TV station, and they had a popcorn machine there.
And I was like living on the popcorn.
I mean, I'm not kidding, because you have no money.
You're doing whatever.
The dining halls are closed.
The dining halls are closed.
Everything.
It's a true thing, and you would never think that.
It is.
And see a lot of...
A lot of people just think when it comes to food and securities has all to do with the just nutritional side, but food and securities have so many different variants.
We can talk about the hygiene asset behind it all this way.
We can talk about how it has directly affected the psychological aspect of not just children, young adults and adults when we come down to food and security.
So, you know, we're just hoping to just be a catalyst and just be great stewards of the opportunities that we have been given.
And just come
from

I remember I Get emotional about this but I remember having to eat sugar sandwiches and serve sandwiches and

But you know, when you're often eating that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you know, it becomes challenges, especially as a young adult growing adult.

you just before, I had a couple of different Packer players, both from, for whatever reason, both from Alabama and Louisiana, and they talked about eating dry cereal.
They didn't have
milk,
and they
would eat dry cereal for breakfast.
This food drive that you have though that that that food that you're collecting a thousand pounds or probably I Think it's gonna be more.
Well, I can give you update about that

I got a caustic text I don't mean to whatever but I put my money on that race and my money would not be on mino Tammy

we had a lot more people that signed on to that.
We just couldn't fit them

but um make a point that kids can't study if
They are hungry.

can't learn and we I deal with that a little bit where I work.
It's proven
facts.
They have to be safe
and they
are these college dorms are where I think we take pretty good care of them with shelter.

But after that, they got to eat.
And if they're not eating, they're not going to be able to move up the ladder.
No, the the direct effect of food insecurity has impact on mental health, like depression, anger, anxiety.
lack of interest,
you name it, you get everything, everything,
everything, especially when you have a growling stomach and your brain can't operate with a growling stomach because your stomach gets connected to your brain.
And
if you turn on TV, what, 50% of the commercials are food?
Yes, yes, yes.
So, you know, with this update, we already raised over 1100 pounds.

And your goal was?
Goal was a thousand.
That's awesome.

and you know another thing we have to talk about a little bit You know sometimes we were talking okay people probably think well Saint Norbert all their parents are rich, but that's not the case No, my son went there a graduate there had a wonderful education, but a lot of his friends were from well disadvantage,

But there were great students, but everybody thinks you know once you're in a college like that oh
You're in
fast city.
It's not the case.
No, it's not the case.
And we also want to, we just did a rising event at St.
Norbert's just to bring more awareness about food and security.
Because a lot of times students are embarrassed to even speak on the things that they're dealing with.
Absolutely.
And we don't want that to be a normal.
We want it to be like, hey, it's okay to be vulnerable in these situations.
We'd rather you speak up than to have lettuce.
have us find out that you're dealing with this alone, silently.
And that's where the challenges can face when they're dealing with a lot of
this
themselves.
So I give great credit to the staff over there at St.
Norris.
They are doing so many different amazing things already.
And they are combating this issue.
You know, the best way to know how.
And so I love the fact that the community is finally coming together and supporting that with it on at every college in WTC UWGB as well as St.
Norwich.
And the
thing that Jim and I talk about all the time, um, the people that we really respect when we have so many people come in here, we have like 20 people, 25 people a week, probably come in here, you know, talking about a cause or whatever.
And.
and the first time Jim and I really got together on stuff and our trips to Madison, we both came to the understanding that we only have one thing in common.
We have a great BS meter.
We both do.
And we can tell that when you and some of the other people come in here, it's from the heart.
It's not just, well, I got this job for non-profit and this week I'm exposing
this.
I'm gonna run for that.
Yeah, and then I'm gonna go to
a different one and you come from the, you speak from the heart with this.
And again, I don't wanna get too deep or too personal to get choked up, but this has to feel good because you have to think that 20 years ago, 25 years ago, that could have been you
benefiting from this.
Even as an adult, I remember just at times not having enough in the refrigerator, even make a whole meal.
Okay, I have.
I can boil some noodles here.
I can add...
some pasta sauce or something just to tie me over.
So, you know, I'm just humbled that I was able to overcome those experiences and to be able to share my experience with her.
It fuels you now, doesn't it?

And that's probably why I cook so much.
My wife asked me all the time, shout out to my wife.
She said, why do you, when I cook, she said, why do you cook so much?
I said, you know, you just never know who's hungry.
And I've always say, if somebody comes by and always give them a plate, or when I barbecue, I say, hey, I call a couple guys, or I call the students over from St.
Norris from Men of Distinction Group.
I say, hey, you guys come eat on a Sunday.
That's so cool.
Because I know what it's like on weekends not to have some food.

Yes, yes, and that's and that's and that's a whole goal next year We're gonna roll out a program with men of distinction where they're going to be more embedded into the community
And then that young man group, it will go to the high schools and the high schools will go to the middle schools and the middle schools will go to the elementary.
And, you know, we can start being more proactive than reactive with things.
That way they have a type of pipeline to understand, hey, this is what it's like to grow up to be a successful young man.
I can talk about the young man because I'm a man.
Thank God, not necessarily, but we're just hoping
that we could truly pay it forward that
way.
I just want to say one quick thing there about a book I read one time about groups like yours after World War One and these African-Americans came back from fighting in the war.
It was the Harlem Hell Fighters and stuff like that.
And they tried doing when they came they saw the world.
You know they saw France, they saw Germany, and it's like we're on the street and they came back to United States and they wanted to do things like this.
And the prejudice was so terrible that it ended.
And am I trying to sound like, you know, whatever, but to still continue that fight even in the modern day, that's so admirable.
I mean, I'm dead serious because I guarantee there are people out there that want you to fail.
Well, you know, isn't that the truth?
Yeah, you know, the biggest thing that I love to really speak on is that a lot of times people are upset that you are not suffering.
the way that they have planned or
expect you to
suffer, especially going through the certain things in life that you had to overcome.
So, you know, I never look at it in that way of the fact that, you know, opinions or individual energies want me to fail.
I just look at it in a way like, hey, I'm just a seed and moving forward.

But these college kids are, we bring a lot of high school kids into the shelter as well.
And I don't bring them there to say, look, if you're not good, you're gonna end up here.
It's like, this is what it is to be a man, to be a citizen, to be a person, to be a good, you know.
And I gotta tell you how much they like it.
They're like, after we, you know, we should have a little meeting and stuff.
And they're like, this is great.
I love the tour.
This is, so hopefully that sticks with them in life.
Our key is to create servant leaders.
Everyone wants to be,
the head of anything, but everyone wants to be connected to everything.
And the only way we can do that is being servants first.
So, you know, that's just a model that I walk by and a model that anyone that I have the opportunity to even cross paths with, you know, I always say, hey, how can I serve you, my brother?
You know, just like this show, y'all have been such a, excuse me, y'all have been such a powerful platform.
for so many, including myself, that bring us so much awareness.
And just because the last couple of times I've been on the show, so many people have been asking, like the text message, how can we help?
How can we help serve?
And if we can get that normal in a mindset of everyone, especially in our community, our community is going to flourish even further.
That's awesome.
Yes, a lot of people deal with a lot of different psychological distresses, but I believe we can help one another just by doing so.

really engages people with the community I think a lot of people take a tour and find a lot of new spots because they're moving slower as they drive through our downtown on our Broadway districts Is that two hours as well bikes is two hours as well.

But people would always come to town and want the dive bar kind of culture.
And with the bike, we take little kind of dive bar tours.
People can stop at two to three bars and kind of check out the culture of Green Bay and get immersed with the
locals.
I prefer the term historic bars, but you

And that's great.

right now where, in fact, Todd's favorite bar.

Oh, Pete's Garage in Oshkosh.

How are things going with the pedal?
I see it all the time.
Yeah, we run a bunch of tours in Green Bay.
We've been around, I think, with a bike for like eight years in the boat for summers.
How tough a
workout is that if you're pedaling the whole time?
Well, we kind of help you along.
We help you along.
We have a little underlying motor assist to help to make the tour enjoyable.
Yeah, makes it enjoyable for people.
So it's a ton of fun.
You right now, our host bar is Ned Kelly's downtown for the bike.
So you'll come on down to the to Ned.
Kelly's couple minutes early.
We'll get you set up, get you some drinks for the road and go out and take you out on a two hour tour.
We have a driver that drives you around, knows where to go, knows the places.
So it's a ton of fun for people.
I think it's awesome.
I really do.
And how far do you go with the boat?
The boat, we can go all the way up in two hours.
When we leave Light Park, we can go all the way up to the deep here dam.
Oh, nice.
That's pretty
far.
Right now, you don't want to go too close.
There's all the water boats.
We take a little spin, and then we come back.
Otherwise, sometimes we go out to the mouth of the river and see the Tower Drive Bridge, or the Leo Frio, whatever they're calling it, and then come back and go up the river a little bit.
There's a couple stops that we do on the river, but there's a limit.
I just want to
say this, and again, I'm not a boater.
I want to be a boater, but I'm not a boater.
Yeah.
But when I've gone fishing with guys that is still a thrill when you're coming in from the bay and the tower drive is there.
And yeah,
that it's still I mean, it is kind of
we've all driven over it.
We've all seen.
But to see it on the water coming
in and
under it, it's it's awesome.
Isn't it?
Yeah, it is.
To be it.
It's a really cool.
It
up would be incredible.
Yeah, it's cool.
And will that's what I'm saying.
I think.
People in the community haven't done that right and I think it's gonna be great for yeah, we've got a lot of tourists coming in

Is there a minimum, I mean, you mix people too, but I mean, when
you're 12 or what do you look for?
On the bike, we do usually look for at least a minimum of six for a tour.
And then on the boat, 10.
But we have opportunities where we have mixing mingles
and
open seats where you can just hop on.
We open up some, especially during the draft, we've got some dates that are open that are just, you can go one by one or two by two and hop on as well.
What's the, what's the...
Perception you're getting as a local businessman and we had Nick here cheese curd Nick and different people Just you know, you know, we've we've been waiting for this for so long and I know we've built it up huge and it might it might attain those lofty Aspirations or it might not you're in the trenches.
I'm hoping you're gonna people are gonna come from all over people are gonna drive in people are gonna
put on the rain jacket, maybe on Thursday and come on in anyways.
Um, and just see the downtown yesterday when I was driving around, I noticed how many tents, how many people are doing this, how many people are doing that.
And I was like, it's going to take a lot of people to fill at least 10.
So hopefully people will come and enjoy gut feeling.
I think it's going to crush it.

think it's going to crush it because Green Bay
has a novelty that's like unlike unlike unlike anyone else People used to come at just because they seen the monologue on the radio or the or TV on NBC or ABC or CBS during a football game and were like I got to go there and then they've made the pilgrimage
I hope that's the case too, right?
I mean
Nobody
nobody wants to go to Jacksonville to see their stadium
and they crushed Detroit Yeah, they crushed like a random thing in Kansas City.
I mean, but I will say real
I mean Green Bay is ready Like you said those tens I was driving around to looking at that and I was driving around the stadium
And people out there with the rulers measuring their lawns.
Just see how many cars they can fit.
I think that's great.
Little math problem for the kids.
Social media is buzzing with people who think we're going to fail.
But I think Green Bay is going to crush it.
I mean, it's going to be what the NFL wanted, is people to be parking on lawns and people to be just hanging out tailgating.
Little kids
riding their bike throughout the NFL draft.
Ask your friends to come to the game.
tailgate right on the side of the street.
Fried cheese curds.
Where else do you get fried cheese curds in a broth?
The Green Bay is going to crush.
There's been people working on this for two years.
My friend Brad Toll over at the Discover Green Bay has been working hard.
Tom Johnson put this music festival on with the mayor and on Broadway.
I mean, there's events like this all over that are going to crush it.
And I just think getting the word out, I mean, obviously the NFL is doing a good job about...
the draft but there's other things like we just talked about your this pedal car thing the fact that bay beach is open

when
I was in town but there's just a lot of cool things going on that we want to make sure people
can take advantage of.

Green Bay is unique and we want to make sure that some of the smaller things are leaned into as much as

Come to real Wisconsin bars, real Northeast Wisconsin

Just come in for the draft and leave.

Well for a guy that's made a living basically off of you know tourists and you know look people What are some of the things are we missing anything here in downtown Green Bay?
I think just motivated individuals to come make more attractions and things to do I think Green Bay is a great place to do to start your business and and thrive because you don't have a ton of competition and so people need to just kind of
take their ideas that they have and kind of get off the couch and just do them.
What would you change if you could wave a magic wand
for downtown Green Bay?
Just more people.
We need more apartment complexes downtown, more developments in order to get the density up in order to kind of get the more attractions, the more shopping districts that we need.
What about parking?
Parking is fine.
If you go to Madison or Milwaukee, you might walk 15 minutes to your destination.
I was in Austin, Texas, paid $35 for two hours worth of parking.
You can come down here and park all day for eight bucks.
I will say this though.
Austin, Texas is pretty cool.
Yeah.
That's where the coolest cities I've ever been in expensive.
It's really expensive.
I mean there or even Seattle in Seattle is 45 minutes to find, to find a parking spot.
And that was, and I talked to locals and they're like, yeah, you need to designate 30 to 45 minutes to find a parking spot.
I pulled up out front today this morning downtown and plugged a meter and was inside in a minute.
We better run out there cause the
cops up there right now.
$21 chicken.
It's not that
bad.
Tell a little bit about the contest you had with me and Jim.
about 20 years ago.
I was, uh, last night I was thinking about, uh, Jim and Mino.
And I remembered, uh, a picture that I had of the mayor where I owned a bar down on Broadway and we had a wanted poster up and it was for like local celebrities.
And we would encourage people to find these local to celebrities and bring them in and we'd give them a small, uh, uh, gift card.
And we had one, I had a picture of the mayor getting dragged in and then I zoomed into the back and the other person at the time on the wanted poster was John Mino.
So I had Mino in the mayor, uh,
The mayor was worth $25 gift certificate, and John Minow apparently was worth $40.
I don't
know.

But here's the deal.

The person
who
brought me in, I made them give me that gift certificate.

We'll give us some other things that you think could Green Bay downtown to make another step.
I mean, we've made a lot of great steps.
Like I tell people, when I first moved to Green Bay in the mid-80s, you only went to bars in Broadway if you're looking for trouble or looking for something.
And that's changed dramatically.
Obviously, you are part of that.
Where are some of the other things to take another step for downtown Green Bay?
I think Green Bay could just really use just more developments.
We just need more population density.
We just need more building owners to take the initiative to fix up their places, fix the upstairs up, put in more storefronts.
I tell Brian Johnson down on Broadway and we need 20 more shops down on Broadway and then downtown Green Bay to really kind of make it a place people can kind of go and shop and gather and be walking around.
And there are some, Jim and I talked to us for a long time, even though Jim tore down one of the most historical buildings in Green Bay across the street.
But there are still some other ones that you and I talked about at your bar
I
would love to remodel this upstairs I love these upstairs of these old buildings that are over a hundred year like 125 years old in New York or Chicago or Madison There's a
couple that are still around
places would be so people jump at the chance.
Why
hasn't anybody come in?
It's expensive and it's
go ahead.
Tell me but we could
It's
hard
it's hot like we talk about that the northern hotel.
I mean it was we're six three owners and and And we were three volts away from that thing getting raised to you know I mean like that that they're expensive I mean we could have built that thing for probably 25 million dollars tore it down and rebuild it new for cheaper Right, and that's a lot of these buildings are like that But that's where either state tax credits or the city's got to step up We have
open lots people just need to be encouraged we need to
Encouraged local investment
and
keep the money here and and reinvest in our downtown Tell me about the public market.
That's right next to you.
It's gonna happen.
I know it's gonna happen and We just need to keep
Working hard and keep going on it.
They just need some funding and needs some businesses to buy in and then one day it'll just be there It's
a
fight to get something like that started is but once it's there you look at the hotel in Northland You look at the zip and pippin you look at these things that have been fights all over the city and they're great assets
like like

When I came to Green Bay, Light Park was a waste land.
Working on a project for that right now.
It's going to be great.
You know what I mean?
I give you credit.
I hate giving you credit for anything.
I know.
But I give you all the credit in the world for looking at Light Park and saying, let's make this cool.
Yeah, something I enjoyed that was when I went on to the city deck, you know, those Friday's and Friday's.
That's another fight.
That was unbelievable.
Another fight that was, and people came up to me and said, you know what?
And it was just packed.
And people that I like, friends of mine like you, they would come up to me and say, you know what, this will never work.
And that's what people said.
But Green Bay's got to believe, and it's been a little bit dormant.
I will say COVID didn't help anybody anywhere.
Projects are tough to get over the hump.
But once they're moving and activated, people just swarm them.
Why didn't we do this earlier?
You know, that's what they say.
It's like, anyway, I think density is a thing for small businesses.
I mean, you guys don't need tax breaks.
You need people.
Yeah, the downtown district just needs people, but also then it needs to be.
to get over the hump and have enough storefronts that people can kind of come like downtown Sturgeon Bay or downtown to peer and just kind of walk around from storefront to storefront without parking spot or part like street facing parking spots being there to break it up.
And then also close storefronts or businesses that aren't really downtown related.
They're great, they contribute to our community, but having a downtown storefront kind of blocks where a retail could be.
Yes.
Like
a financial planner.
Yeah, and they're great.
They're great.
And they're part of our community.
Exactly.
Like they could be upstairs versus down on the street.
Right.
You know, it's funny.
I used to work in the building, the old Fort Square in real estate for EXP Realty.
And I'll never forget, one time I walked out and it was a Packer weekend.
And this couple was there and they're like, Hey, is this one of those neighborhoods where a whole bunch of little shops and coffee shops and restaurants and things?
Yeah.
And they wanted, they're assuming, and it's like, well,
It's
all it's there.
It's there.
There's
a lot of businesses.
They want that.
Yeah.
I owning a bar used to have kind of people come in and then they would say, is this it?
And you're like, yeah, it is.
This is just to get to this has been hard and but it's still fun.
There's plenty to do and steer them to your favorite place to go.
Not to stir a straw here or stir the mixture, but compared to other communities, how difficult.
percentage wise and a scale of one to 10.
Is it for a young entrepreneur like yourself who wants to invest, who wants to help the community and make a
buck at the same
time?
It's extremely easy in Green Bay.
I think it's extremely
easy
because there's open storefronts.
There's open commercial spaces all over town.
There's people wanting to invest in downtown and want to see you succeed.
And there's great downtown districts like on Broadway and downtown Green Bay that will
you know, kind of culture you and give you some help.
But I think it's extremely easy for that part.
I think the rest, the part after that might be hard just
Getting it going, but it's there's there is a good base of to do it and people just have to get off their couch I don't know how many times back bartending I would hear people's ideas I
heard
thousands of ideas and the people would still be saying that same idea me ten years later and I'd say you got to go out and do it and I've always tried to be an advocate for friends or anybody that calls me and asked a question about you know business or real estate and try to give them as much information that I had to like
great in order to learn and find
out a bunch of money
and try to pass that on.
I think you and I one time when I used to hang out at your bar and I said I want to convert your upstairs into condos or something.
But I remember you telling me
about like the sewer situation, how much street would have to be torn.
I mean, we're still dealing with things that were built in, you know, 1910.
And so, I mean, there's still part of that aspect.
It goes back to what Jim's saying about old buildings.
Like sometimes it's cheaper to tear them down, but when you really regret it afterwards, I think, you know, this was the, we're near the mall site where there's 40 missing buildings that would probably be the.
catalyst to really make our downtown into something vibrant and they're, you know, they're not here anymore
because somebody knocked it
out.
Well, I was saying that knocked them down.
Yeah.
He built them all.
I knocked them all down because that was a piece of junk.
Well, I mean, like each
one, like each one would take a lot in order to like.
have done something with, but you can still replicate that.
They build these buildings all the time that look just like
they were really cool.
Actually, look at Old Town and Sacramento, right?
I mean, that's Western.
So yeah, that can still happen.
You can
still make it.
You have the ambience,
the brick and things that people like.
That's got to be a plan, not just a one here and one there.
So that's, that could happen on Broadway.
Well, you're one
of the good things of downtown Green Bay.
And I
really mean that.
We talked
about that all the
time.
One of the
things of the
downtown Green Bay, what it is right now.
And I know it still has got a couple of steps to go to take to another level, but young entrepreneurs like yourself,

But I think the stadium view, what they did with Jerry Watson, you know, God bless his soul and everything and his wife and that family, what they did when they took a gamble and say, hey, let's do a sports bar just in this little, I don't know, did they build the building?
It was a women's clothing store that they converted into a bar in 30 days.

Actually, it might have been either 30 days or 90 days.
Isn't that because
I was
involved with two Packer players and we looked into buying the place across the street.
It was a Chinese restaurant.
And we looked into buying that and making a sports bar.
It was me, Frankie Winters and Mark Chimera.
And the guy wanted a million dollars.
And we're like, are you kidding me?
We'll give you like 200,000.
I want a million dollars.
And then Anduzzi's bought it.

and doozies has a lot of money and I got nothing.
