Coming to Northeast Wisconsin live from the Civic Media Studios and featuring TV and radio broadcast veteran John Minow along with the City of Green Bay's longest-serving mayor Jim Schmidt. This is Minow and the Mayor. And here are your hosts, John Minow and Jim Schmidt. Good Monday morning to you.
Here it is, ladies and gentlemen. It is the week of the National Football League Draft coming away from Northeast Wisconsin at parts beyond, but epicenter right smack around Lambeau Field. Did you go down to this weekend? I did not. We did. You know, I almost don't have so many people are posting. You could just watch us lifetime, which is cool because I'll be honest with you. I'm not quite sure what roads I can get in on right now anyway. And I don't want to be that guy. Lombardi's done. So boom, both ways.
Okay, that's over. Um, but yeah, I was actually go to a movie yesterday And I thought hmm and it was at Bay Park. Oh, yeah, you know And I actually fine though. That's weak. Yeah, just could just take action all the way and then one of the roads over right and went to that Fresh time. Oh Got my leg of lamb there. I didn't bring it for you guys cuz you know we're a little critical last year. I don't know. I just didn't like it
Oh, that's not being critical. Okay. I just didn't let you know something Okay, it's not your cooking they were critical of I'm not a big no, yeah, I'm not I'm not a big fan of whole or not hoagies of um heroes heroes Well, that's a totally different way to cook it, but I know but it's just something about the eating the lamb is it cuz it's a lamb or maybe I don't Yeah, she didn't like it cuz it's a lamb, but I didn't have a problem with rabbits. Yeah, you know, yeah, huh anyway
Tonight brought some to the I'll tell you what Amazon. Yes, they're not they're they're efficient. Oh my god. Yeah Ordered on a Saturday arrives on a Sunday Isn't that awesome? What took so long? I know right? So excited. So what is this now? Just something I ordered. Yeah, what okay? What'd you order John from Amazon Prime? Yeah, well, that's good. It's your prime. That's nice. I didn't even charge you for shipping. Yeah Well, would you buy but what'd you get? It's a health thing. Yeah, good
Alright, so why don't you open it? That's why they should fit so fast. Because you need it right away. What are they called? What is that? Walker things? Well, it's not the exact... I wanted the oxen one, but it's... It's organic tallow honey bomb. Okay. Four. My face. I want a more youthful appearance. And this is what I'm going with.
Tallow bomb. It's made out of pure tallow. It's gonna be a bomb. It's a BALM. BALM, okay. I can't see from over here. It's tallow. It's made out of tallow. What does it smell like? Good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They just perfume like that. Yeah. Yeah. So tallow is supposed to be good for...
Make me look younger right there. Oh, I can't believe it. Isn't that something? So it gets the wrinkles out. Yeah Okay, how's it working? So is it wrinkles is it for like different rejuvenating? Yeah rejuvenation. Yeah rejuvenation of your skin Okay, let me just ask you. Yeah, how did you come across that internet? No, no
Was that was a video ad did you see did you read it recommended? I think both okay before and after pictures of people. Oh, yeah those Factual no good for you where the writing is so small. I can't even read the directions. Can you can you read the directions? Do not put under your eyes Do not drink coffee while Did you you're supposed to rub it in a circular motion? No, those are pretty straight lines you are doing. Well, I'll get it
The temperature is beginning. Finger. If only just begun. Mm-hmm. Talobom is the new me. You know what? If I have to hand over my man card for that, go ahead. So I get to my wallet someplace. Okay. All right. We should take a picture today and then take one. Like in 30 days? Like every 30 days, maybe? Right. And then we'll send it in and maybe you can be a free ad. Or an ad. You charge them for it. Not free. Not sure what it smells like. A little bit like Vix. A little bit of Vix. No. No, it's good. I've got that smell all day though.
or the dentists enjoy that smell being in my face all day today. That's what you got going on three and a half hour root canal and crown today. And I can't wait because I've been dealing with this for a long since your golf tournament two years ago. Remember, I'm seriously. That's good to get that over with. That's when you're buying me $12 drinks of vodka. So I got to rub on my gums. That is.
But you look forward to it. No one looks forward to a root canal, but boy, you look forward to it to get it over with. Yeah, right. So, but you're asking about gastrointestinal. I've never, they just give you a couple of shots in your teeth and that's it. You can get both though, but I don't think so. But I bet if you do, then you have to have somebody drive you or something. Maybe. Yes. No, I don't want that. That's true. I just want to get out of there and go home and yeah, chill. Mm hmm.
So anyway, but what a big week we got going on. It's all coming together right now. And you know, it's kind of cool. One thing I'm, I'm looking forward to, and I'm not sure when they're coming to probably Thursday or Wednesday. Um, boy, Dan Patrick show and stuff like that. And I know a lot of the guys are gonna be on some of those shows. So it's gonna be fun going over and seeing a little to some of those guys, right? Is that.
Is that Wednesday? I think it's Wednesday. Wednesday coming there. Yeah. I know he's coming to the, one of them is coming to the bar. I know that. Um, yeah, that's, that's going to be fun. That's when the energy is really going to kick in. So little competition, although with the news out of the Vatican. Yeah. You know, I was surprised when I got up this morning, like, wow, I didn't see that one coming. Okay. Thank you, Todd. Nice encouraging comment to start out my day, Todd. Start out my week. Tallow makes you look younger. Well, it can't hurt. There's nothing out there that could make John look any older.
Todd from Deeper. Yeah, I think he's behind of something there. All right. I am good. Todd, do me a favor. Don't take a picture. Okay, look at me. Yep. When like this morning and then look at me again in about a month. Okay. Um, I'm trying to only send kind text today with the draft being in town and everything. And you start off saying, I'm doing something for my face. Brian. Okay, Brian. Well, you know what, Brian, some of us still.
want to feel youthful and look youthful and think they're still good. Be a career out there and possibly male modeling or something. You never know. I've been working out. What's going to happen? Um, it is the Monday today, 44 degrees in Green Bay, 45 in Alpton, 46 in Oshkosh, which is, I will take that. Unfortunately more rain coming up. It was so cold last night here with that wind. Wasn't that one of those just nasty cold spring nights?
Days. Days. Yeah. Where that wind and rain was just unbelievable. Today's national tea day. I so wish I liked tea. It's so good for you. Yeah, it is. And it's cool when you order it. You know, they bring up the little box and everything, but yeah. Todd, you see my tea guy. A little bit. Yeah. Had some yesterday morning. Usually a Sunday morning is when I do it. I have to put so much sweetener in it. It's just such a bitter taste to me.
That it just you think it's some really good teas that are not better. I mean, I've tried I got it I've got a thing I got a box of green tea in my cupboard Yeah, and I can't figure out a way without putting six scoops of sugar in it to make it taste. Yeah, you might want to get that What's this orange citrus? That's that you don't need as much right? But that Earl gray, which is what I like but that needs I agree it needs something I don't I'm just coffee coffee coffee. That's it. I know but it's so good I know it is
It's like everything. It's got the most immune system. Yeah, things. It's got that other stuff. That's, you know, antioxidants. Yep. All that stuff. Yeah. Uh, quick survey. What can my model? Yeah. Okay. Um, yeah, I'm just trying to help. I'm just trying to. Be the best I can be every day. So every day, wake up, be the best I can be today's kindergarten day. Um, that was a rough year.
Yeah, it is. That's a rougher year than people realize. So kindergarten, did you have all day kindergarten? No. Mornings. Did you have all day, Jim? We did. Well, we had the morning. The teacher's like, we're going to, it was out of three blocks from our house. And my mom tells the story all the time, but the teacher's like, we're going to learn this. We're going to learn that. We're going to do this. And kind of like getting the kids excited. And then maybe it was half day.
Anyway, at this point, recess, we went outside. I walked home. Really? Had enough? Yeah, I had enough. I had enough to do that. You know, people back then, it wasn't an actual old woes. We had Sister St. Joseph, this little teat, 99 years old, 100 pounds, no, 84 pounds. But the old school of things, I remember, okay, I wasn't a great colorer. I'd always go outside the lines. And you know what she'd make me do? She'd make.
Me sit at a table. Okay. Me and like another kid. I think it was 82. I don't know. But hey, we'd have to sit at him. And all the other kids would walk around holding up their pictures that they drew all around us. Do you know what I mean? Isn't that kind of humiliating? Yes, just a little. Yeah. Right? Wow. Really? Yeah. And then I remember one time you just get those little cartons of white milk, which was always warm. Should be sitting on the hallway. Oh, gosh. You know, and you'd have to sit and drink a carton of milk. Yeah.
And I would never, I would drink until I could see the bottom of the thing and then I'd go to throw it away and one day everybody would leave your cartons there and shit shake them. And whoever didn't drink it all again had a sit at the table and other kids had a watch which gave you another carton of milk to drink because it was such a sin and wasting milk. Isn't that kind of- Wow, that's, we had the whole sin thing but I don't remember her. Actually I've turned out so much nicer.
I knew it went back to something traumatic. Yeah, I can't imagine if my granddaughters Or somebody in when you're five years old you get humiliated by the rest of the class my teacher I had problems being able to tell the difference between a quarter and a nickel and kindergarten So she made me stay in and did the whole look at Todd, you know bubble to this day I get I get freaked out when I have to count money back
Really? Get nervous about that? Yeah, because, you know, you get traumatized by that stuff. Wow, you do though. I mean, I remember that like it was yesterday that it stayed with me. Yep. Yeah, it's funny because we, and I agree with everything you guys are saying. We have a guest coming in talking about certain kids at certain ages.
are more apt to certain things. Did you see that coming in later? And that's really true. We've talked about that before. Maybe some kids are more interested in mechanical things than... Like I said, that's why the Soviets, how they did it. Yeah, I wasn't gonna say that, but this guy is really...
And I think we have to be more sensitive to that because there are instead of humiliating kids. Let's let's let's support this kid and run this track. But anyway, we have somebody coming in later about that anyway. Yeah. Um, chocolate covered cashew day. Love it. And Easter Bunny was pretty good to me. Was he? Yeah. Unfortunately, because boy, I watched a lot of golf and stuff this weekend just tore into that whole big thing of candy.
And I cut chocolate covers cashews from Siruji's Oh Lordy Lordy Lordy money over there. Then there was those other things It's up. It's almost like coconut covered there It's like it's like almost like a brittle on their coconut covered can't think the name of them. They're unbelievable Unbelievable
Actually, I thought about that getting my tooth done today. You know, I don't be able to eat any of this stuff for a long time, right? So my soul is loaded up go to town that the only the only jelly bean I like black licorice jelly beans. Oh, I like those best Orange Right now we got a full lineup today back at this
for the Maggie
Dawn.
44 in Green Bay, 45 in Alton, 46 in Oshkosh.
Forecast, Claudi with Showers, high in the low 50s.
Today is national tee day.
Kindergarten day, chocolate covered cashew day.
And again, another text here, it said, same here in Kindergarten.
I hated green beans when I was a kid, would hide them in my milk carton, walked by the teacher's desk.
One day she stopped me, dumped the green beans back in the tray, and had me finish them in front of
her.
At Terry.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow, no tree went to a Catholic school.
Well, well,
well,
happy birthday.
Is he pop Iggy pop Iggy pop Tony Danza is 74.
He hasn't done much in a long time.
No, no, no.
He was I met him one time kind of a jerk.
Really?
Yeah, he played in that softball thing.
I was in in Arizona at the time.
Just that was he was like at the height of his game.
I mean, he was for TV at the time.
Yeah, it was he was big.
That's when who's the boss?
Yes.
Who's the boss was out?
Um, Rob Riggle is 55, Tony Romo, 45, Andy McDowell, 67.
Tony Romo makes so much money.
It's mind bogg, how much money Tony makes.
Unbelievable.
Brewer's at San Francisco Giants.
What a game they had yesterday.
I watched some of that game.
They set a team record with nine stolen bases.
Nine.
Stolen bases that a young pitcher in there who did fantastic That was neat to see that was really neat to see but the Brewers have had such issues with pitchers being hurt this year I think they set a major league record yesterday with I want to say their ninth pitcher
who's making his first start in the major leagues.
It's like, it's been incredible how many different pitchers the Brewers have had to use so far this season already.
And then I was going to call you with Rob selling or buying Timber Eddlers.
Is that a big deal?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah,
I
don't know I'm waiting to hear more about that.
Okay, to be honest with you.
Yeah, that's that was a big thing.
That's what I thought.
It's
very quiet, right?
Very quiet.
So all of a sudden there's a little article.
Yeah Also, I just okay my brand new shirt first time I wore this shirt I've worn it for a half an hour and I just built coffee on it What do I do okay
Cause I got, I got a hundred shirts that have stains on them from coffee.
What do I do?
I want to, I want to, I just think about putting hand sanitizer
on.
No, I wouldn't do that.
Why?
It's
alcohol.
Yeah.
Kind of sort of.
I would go in the bathroom and just take hand soap, get it wet.
Yeah.
And wash it off.
Look
at that.
Look at that.
That's never
come out.
No.
Shirt is ruined one day, one time.
That's a nice shirt too.
Great shirt.
Favorite shirt
I own.
I
tried getting an ox and tallow and I got B tallow.
And now I spill all over my
shirt.
Now you know I'm
looking forward to my root canal today.
Poor dentist.
You know what I'm gonna do though?
I'm gonna put on my earbuds.
Here's my earbuds now.
Those are actually really cool.
That's cool how that works.
That's really cool.
You know what's weird though?
If you don't turn them off, and I don't really know how to turn them off, they're weird.
If you don't turn them off,
and you just put them someplace.
You can't get anything on your phone.
Yeah, because they're still connected.
So it's playing on those,
not
on your
phone.
So it's trying to get something on my phone.
It's like, what?
What the?
If you go into your settings and click the Bluetooth and shut the Bluetooth off, that'll stop the connection till you need to turn it back on again.
Did not know that.
Did you understand it?
Makes sense.
I don't know if I got all those things.
Steps down, yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Very high tech.
I still can't believe it.
I'm not far off that.
I'm kind of the same way.
That's why I always get dark clothes.
I never buy anything light.
99% of the time, that's what I do
too.
Yeah.
Um, Brittany Merleau is coming up in just a little bit, talking about this week ahead.
Looks
good, right?
We're getting it out of our
system.
It seems like it's going to be a lot different today, tomorrow, and maybe Wednesday versus the rest of the week, correct?
Oh, on Wednesdays, like, 70.
No.
Or Wednesdays ago.
See, so today and tomorrow are just going
to be kind
of crappy.
Right.
Right.
And then it's going to be nice.
Yeah.
OK.
That's perfect
for the draft.
Nice timing there.
Yeah, what's the latest anything new anything?
We got a guy coming on Dean Bruce from Lindy Sports magazine.
You can find that over at bosses in downtown on Broadway downtown to peer it is the literally it is the Bible if you want to follow the NFL draft and read up on these guys that the Packers might be taking or the Bears Lions, whoever might be taken.
But if you want to read up on these guys, this is the most thorough draft guide that you can find.
It will tell you everything you want to know.
about these people.
It is really something.
We've got him coming on.
He's the editor of Lindy Sports Draft Guide.
If anybody has any questions, text him into us and I'll give him to this guy.
If there's somebody you like, don't like, whatever, let us know.
734, we've got Andrew Zimdar's coming up.
Yeah.
Talk about that.
This will be great.
It's just somebody who really focuses on this GPS education and really looking at at a young age where their interests are and then
capitalizing on those interests.
It'd be interesting.
He's got, he's really studied this.
I'm looking forward to talking, asking some questions on that.
But it's an Appleton, you know, here, doing some of the work in Green Bay.
And we've talked about this before.
Maybe someone who is just belongs in engineering or belongs in fixing things and why.
to get into English in there.
Totally agree.
I just want to ask him some questions about that, but I was reading up on him.
I love it.
Love it.
Love it.
I'm a firm believer in that.
Yeah.
We got Kevin Burkle coming on.
Burkle's one block over.
Talk about a little bit what the vibe is like over there right now in that area.
He also, if you're looking for parking, he's got a bunch of parking places he just opened up where people can park.
I don't talk to him about that.
That is a designated drop off spot for Uber.
Did you see that?
And that, okay, we're talking about, okay, so that I would think
I'm just trying to decide, you know, I'm terrible at directions, but let's say you're going from downtown Green Bay to there just to give it one direction thing.
You take Ashland and then come around.
I'm, I'm, I'm going to ask him that too.
How do you get to these places?
You know what you got to catch?
I don't want to be that guy in the, whatever.
But anyway, um, what else we got here?
Good morning, Jim and John.
John, you need to be more like Jeff Warlowski and carry a tide stayed pen with you at all times.
Kathy, I've got one here.
I've got one upstairs.
I've got a tide stain pen and I'm not joking.
I got one of my car.
Yeah,
I've never used it
when
you should with that.
I'm gonna run up during our big break.
I'll go get that
Yeah,
thank you, Kathy I got another one here from cowboy Dave coming Dave says your earbuds should go off when you put them back in their case Do they I believe they do actually and then do they charge automatically when they're in the case?
Is the case plugged in?
No, okay Um
Michael says forecast 40% rain Thursday?
50% rain Friday?
Oh, I didn't know that.
Oh, I didn't know that.
I'm actually looking at it right now.
I'm seeing that
myself.
Really?
Oh, OK.
That was a couple days ago.
Yeah.
Brittany, Brittany, Brittany.
She's coming up next.
Brittany
Merleau.
60% chance of not having
land.
There you go, Jim.
It's the only
time he's ever an optimist.
Only time ever.
What you said
For WGBW and WISS News, I'm Lisa Hale.
The NFL Draft 2025 is this week.
Visitors will start arriving in Northeast Wisconsin in preparation for all of the festivities that officially start Thursday, April 24th.
However, there are many activities planned throughout this week leading up.
Lombardi Avenue from military to Holmgren Way is now completely closed in both directions.
Pedestrian traffic along the NFL Draft Fence is
allowed.
Information on road closers, parking, traffic patterns, shuttle services, and more is available on the NFL OnePass app.
The Republican Party of Wisconsin introduced a new process for replacing local party officials last week.
The new rules were approved by the state Republican Party's executive committee in an attempt to cut down on what they call egregious behavior and infighting between state party leadership and local officials and organizers.
Here in the eighth congressional district, there have been reports of infighting and shouting matches.
The new code of conduct requires local, regional, and state party members
to treat other party officials with respect, support candidates endorsed by the party, and prohibits harassment of other party members.
A Wisconsin business owner is talking about the Trump tariffs after learning how much it will hurt his bottom line.
TJ Sumanshin has three Wonder State coffee locations in the state.
but he buys all of his coffee beans from farmers in other countries.
All of our coffee is going to get hit with a 10% tariff tax.
That's just a boom.
Unexpected increase costs of business.
I need to go out and find financing for that.
I have to pay for that tariff upfront before we sell it to the end consumer rate.
I gotta come up with that cash.
Summation adds coffee doesn't grow well in the US, especially in the volume of beans he needs for his businesses across the state.

Hey, thank
you very much.
Welcome back.
Monday morning, it is draft week.
The entire sporting world is going to be looking at Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ashwabana, Wisconsin.
It points beyond all week long and we're talking about the weather.
and a little bit disheartening news perhaps that Michael just text us.
But we've got Brittany Merlot with her finger on the pulse to let us know exactly what's going on.
Good morning, Brittany.
How are you?
Good morning, guys.
I'm doing pretty good.
Pretty good.
How
was
your
weekend?
It was good.
I got to say one thing, though.
I saw some things from the UP.
There is still like great cross country skiing and things up there.
Have you seen the pictures of them?
Have you seen those?
It looks like January.
It looks like February.
It really does.
It's unbelievable, isn't it?
There was some guy I saw out on, you know, social media.
He's got like 300 inches of snow.
He's like, yep, there was just a week ago.
It's still all kinds of snow in some point.
I mean, like you'd think it was the middle of January.
It's almost May.
You really
would.
And it's
snowing right now into Northwest Wisconsin from Eau Claire to Superior.
They're getting some snow and that's going to be swinging across northern Wisconsin today.
Not much, not like BUP, but hey, still, it's looking like winter up north.
Well, when this came out, Brittany and Todd, Jim and I, we all, we all said the exact same things.
Okay, that week can be questionable.
If like, there's like a week further down the road.
If it was a week sooner, we'd be like, don't do it, a week further down the road.
We should be, this is that in between sort of week coming up, isn't it?
It can go either way.
It really is.
This week is just wild, to be honest with you.
We've got this low pressure system right now through the state.
that is swiping up north.
It's going to drag in a little bit of cold.
So today we're only going to get highs in the upper 40s.
Tomorrow we'll make it to the mid 50s.
That on warm front lifts through the state.
So it's going to warm us up by Wednesday.
We'll actually have some sunshine.
It'll be very beautiful on Wednesday.
But as that warm front moves through, I mean, we could hit anywhere from the upper 60s to the low 70s.
But there's always that price to pay with these fronts moving in.
That sparks the rain chances.
So we've got rain chances Wednesday night into our Thursday morning.
Then it looks to stay mostly cloudy for Thursday, highs in about those mid 60s.
But this low pressure system hits the state.
decides to stall at Lake Michigan and starts to drop south.
So as it does this on Thursday, it's going to swing more showers our way Thursday night and into our Friday morning.
And I think those are going to last through at least the afternoon on Thursday.
And it starts to clear on out.
But we've got another round of brain moving in which I think is gonna hit Friday night and into our Friday morning, too And then it should be gone and out of here and then we've got a nice high-pressure system that builds in for our Friday afternoon our Saturday and into our Sunday, but
We don't really care about Saturday and Sunday, but I mean
when's the Saturday?
No, we're
a little Saturday.
Yeah, but I mean
it's
basically on Saturday.
What's that right?
Yeah,
yeah, but are we okay?
There's two types of rain this time you're like last night here in Green Bay.
It was a cold
cold rain versus a nice April warm
rain.
There is such a difference between those two.
Which one do you think we're going to get?
I think we're going to get the warmer spring rain, where it's more the lighter kind of spring sprinkles.
Okay.
Not so much this overcast cold,
windy
wet rain.
Yeah, the windy bad conditions.
No, I don't think it's going to be that
bad.
Okay.
But I'm pretty sure there's no umbrellas allowed, right?
Yeah.
Really, I think
the people
right because they had a list I should know this they had a list of things They write the list of things you can't bring in no firearms really But I'm pretty sure they're gonna take the fun out
of
But I'm I'm pretty sure there's
those bars in Mississippi, Louisiana
And if you don't, they give you one.
That's
right.
Not like one of those places.
Yeah, I want to check on that.
But I'm pretty sure there's no umbrellas in there.
I don't know.
But you can bring it.
Do you know?
But get this, you can bring in strollers.
I
don't.
But I feel like the umbrellas would be annoying.
You'd be hitting people.
Yeah.
You couldn't see things.
Like, don't even just get a poncho.
Shed it in your purse
or
your pocket.
Right.
If you need it.
I really don't.
This is not going to be a washout kind of system like we're going through.
That
drizzle.
Right.
Yes,
and I will say this you can buy those almost like disposable ponchos that wrap up so tiny.
It's amazing, but I mean again
like
yeah, it's unbelievable Then you just like a raft or something just explodes opens up,
but even the ones with the packer logo on are only eight dollars Michael
says This is for my note you there are NFL rules you cannot bring in oxen bomb
Mino Thank you.
My good here about my bomb Brittany.
No, no, but I'm not surprised
All right.
Um, I gotta ask you this so Brittany about hanging around at the draft Are you gonna be coming there and doing anything or is that like not your crowd?
I'm gonna go because I've never been I mean, why would you not it's right here in our backyard?
Cuz that's I mean you I mean you embrace EAA so well, but I didn't know if sports wise if you're as much
Oh, absolutely huge Packers fan.
I you know the draft.
I'm not sure exactly what's going on to be honest with you But I want to be there for it.
I want to see it.
I mean anybody within a couple hundred miles really I mean, don't you think you would at least want to say going to
a
county fair or state fair or something?
Yeah, just to see it one time.
Yeah,
we've
got shuttle buses coming from wasa every single day We're going there.
We're going back just in case.
Yeah, we're we're going
okay cool that NFL experience and the good thing about
All this stuff is free if you think about it.
I mean, you can spend money on the food trucks and buy some things and there's a lot of swag.
But I mean, you get that NFL experience is pretty cool.
And we're talking Friday.
They've got a really cool display in the NFL tent of all the Super Bowl rings from the first one to the current one.
And you ought to see some of the bling that, you know, like the Chiefs, actually it was, it really changed with the Cowboys and all the Patriots.
Oh, Patriots, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Everybody, you know what?
Okay, I remember Michael Irvin, after they won their fourth Super Bowl, I think it was.
And he was yelling at Jerry Jones, four, we gotta have four diamonds, four diamonds.
And that was like the biggest one.
And then the Patriots like, okay, well, Cowboys.
So this has been quite
the... It's unbelievable.
But anyway, there's...
That's just one display.
But there's just a lot of cool things that that you can actually just see.
They're not whoever wins at this.
You're not even getting rings.
They're getting big medallions like this big to hang and just walk around it.
Are you serious?
Yeah, like Flava Flave.
That's not true.
Is it?
Yeah.
Anyway, Britain, we got a text here.
You could park your camper in my yard.
Cowboy Dave.
Oh.
Perfect.
Thank you so much.
Thank you cowboy Dave.
All right Got another text here take it from somebody who spills on herself on a daily basis rinsing immediately with cold water will take out most stains Don dish detergent is perfect for anything grease.
You're sticky and if the Don dish detergent doesn't take it out.
Kiss it.
Goodbye.
There you go Nancy Brand new shirt where brand new shirt Brittany.

Yeah
That's
a great way to start the week.
No,
I'm getting a three and a half hour root canal done today, Brittany.
Oh,
I'm not looking for sympathy by three and a half hours, Brittany.
I'm not looking for sympathy.
Excuse me at all.
But.
Now that the shirt's ruined, you can just wear that shirt, drool all over it.
Nobody cares.
Doesn't have to use the tissue poly.
Don't need the
alligator clips.
That is true.
So that's
a good point.
I'm good, Doc.
Don't charge me for the
bib.
So, Brittany, give it to us again what this week's going to look like in your estimation.
Brittany, when you talk about this 40% chance or this 50% chance, but really that could happen at midnight and the rest of the day could be great.
You know what I mean?
Like sometimes...
It's not like a 50% chance at two in the afternoon.
You know what I'm saying?
I agree.
So I think some people get a little bit worried about that, but it's really, that's the weather.
And I was looking at that, I was just looking at my phone, and it just seems like it's gonna rain like at night night, and who cares?
As long as it doesn't rain during the day.
Why is it not windy during the day?
If that winds coming off the Bay type thing, that makes an entirely different day.
Right.
And the temperatures of the sixties is like great for us.
We haven't really seen a lot, a lot of that.
Brittany,
where are you going to stay when you come to town?
Good question.
I don't know.
I was like, am I sleeping in the back of my Jeep?
Maybe.
Well, you can't sleep here.
I think somebody already claimed that right time.
Yes.
One of our guys from corporate is going to be staying here.
That's great.
Mike
Clemens is staying here, Brittany.
But if you, I mean, there's plenty of room.
If you need a place to stay, go for it.
Oh, you guys are the best.
Yeah, I figured it was just going to be slammed over there.
Everything.
I'm assuming campsites are probably not even open or they're booked.
They're not booked.
No, they're not booked.
But yes.
Are they open?
I don't know.
Because it was a huge thing about three months ago.
Right.
Well, I know.
Right.
EA pulled up.
Like over
at
the pier.
At
the
pier.
The fairgrounds.
Fairgrounds.
Are those open?
I think yes.
But I don't want to check
on that.
I mean, that'd be a great place, Brittany,
to be honest
with you.
I mean, it's ten minutes away, right?
All right.
We'll look into that for you if you want.
Hello, what are
you gonna be on
that?
Yeah,
I want to be there Thursday and Friday for sure.
Okay, if the weather's coming through I need to keep an eye on that
man We love to get you in the studio one of the days.
Say hello.
I would love to that would be so much fun.
Yes.
Oh, that'd be fantastic Very cool.
You could buy a cool swag
Of course.
Are you?
Oh, of course.
Gotta walk away with something.
This is so
exciting.
I can't believe it's here.
Well,
that's something.
You know what?
That's the fun part.
It finally feels like it's here.
It is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So this is going to be
great.
Yeah.
And it's not like we just started talking about it.
I mean, I think people are glad it's here.
We're going
to talk a little bit about that vent I'm hosting on Friday.
a little bit more down the road.
We'll talk about that Tuesday.
It's a thing for trying to get Jack Vinici into the National Football League Hall of Fame, bringing awareness for it and everything.
We're hosting that at Heritage Hill on Friday.
So that's a real special event to try to get some traction going to get him and try to get him inducted into the National Football League Hall of Fame.
So I'm honored to be a part of that.
Dave Robinson, former Packer and a lot of greats.
Warren Gerds is going to be speaking on his behalf and a bunch of people.
So hope a lot of folks can come out.
We'll talk a lot more about that tomorrow.
There's a lot of great events going on besides I mean, there's obviously a lot of stuff going on at Lambo and in that whole title town district, but there's a lot of stuff off campus too that we got to remind people of because it didn't get all the Traction that
well, you know what though?
We don't see you know what?
It's one of those things because sometimes it's like oh man, I don't think we have a very good crowd I don't think and then all of a sudden droves of people turn
right.
It's one of those kind of
things I think a lot of that what I'm saying it wasn't not a lot of that stuff was on
The one pass so you're right.
It's gonna be self-promoting through Facebook and all that people are gonna have to find some things There's a lot going on every hour of every day.
We have somebody coming on tomorrow.
That's hosting a NFL tailgate party not a Packer tailgate party.
It's NFL.
It's
You know, I had two story ideas back when I used
to do big time feature stories for like the coaches showing the Lindy and Fanta show them there.
I was really off beat type stories.
Okay.
Two stories that I was shot down, I was not allowed to do.
One was going to be at County State, Milwaukee County Stadium.
Remember we had that low railing in the upper deck where you could push somebody over?
Yeah.
And it's going to be one of those things where I was like this fan and it's like, what happens if a ball comes over?
And I lunch and we're going to have a dummy dressed like me.
Right.
Like Super Dave Osborn.
And it's going to come flying out of the thing and then I'd be on the ground and talking.
They thought that was poor taste.
Then the other one, Paci Pacman.
He was a packer mascot.
who disappeared after a year.
I was gonna have him under a bridge drinking out of a paper bag and stuff and smoking.
Brittany, stick around.
We gotta talk more to you.
Rib mountain and a little cabin alongside the hill. I could see you live in a cabin alongside a hill. Oh, I would love it. I know a hill, a mountainy kind of big, big hill or a river or a lake. I love the Great Lakes. I'm not going to lie. I know. Hard not to, isn't it? It is. It's so hard. They're just amazing. So that forecast is still sounding OK. Just bring a little poncho, do something, something along those lines. Yeah. As long as that cold wind isn't a factor, we're good to go.
Yeah, so I was looking at the wind I'm trying to figure out when it's gonna be the windiest for you guys and which direction and it looks like Friday It starts to get breezy, but it's gonna be pulling out of the north Probably about 15 to 25 miles per hour at a north wind then it starts to turn a little easterly Saturday But it starts to die out as that high pressure system moves in so Friday a little breezy and it'll be out of the north and I really think
that rain moving in. I think we're going to have chances Wednesday night, probably seven to 10 or so. And then this could linger into Thursday morning, some sprinkles till about nine or 10 Thursday morning. And we kind of stay cloudy, dreary. And then another wave of showers moves in probably seven or so seven in the evening, Thursday. And that lasts till about noon on Friday. Then this whole thing kicks out of here.
We're looking at clearing clouds, calming winds, nice sunshine on Saturday. All right, we'll take that. I can't, you know, I'm trying to think back. Anybody ever remember bad weather at any of these? Not not in Green Bay, but I mean, like in the Kansas cities or the Detroit's or the Nashville's or I mean, they're all no. So I don't. OK. Well, that Wednesday night is that kind of they're called opening ceremonies, but there's that's a big festival fireworks. That's.
Here plus the drone show. We still got the drone show coming up, which I'm excited about. Yes. I can't wait to see the drone show. Yeah, that's over. Those are amazing. Yes. That's gonna be fun. Hey, Brittany, one other thing talked about just down the road here. You know, sometimes people have these weird, like the woolly caterpillar things or whatever, whatever. Have you seen any of these? Maybe the farmer almanac signs of what our summer is going to be like.
And because I'm kind of a firm believer in nature if nature man does certain things I don't think you can discount that wouldn't you agree? I I mean billions and billions of years of somehow developing certain things, right? Yeah, there's I'm with you on that. I mean was it last week they had like 160 million birds migrating north I feel like that's a huge sign like that means the snow is over we're done with the huge call Do you see the dolphin thing?
Thousands of dolphins off the coast of California congregated in their heading someplace. Did you see 60 minutes last night the monarchs? No, like Like I don't know what Anderson Cooper did the story like a billion or something They go to Mexico and they're they just take off like it. Yeah, it's like how do they know? It's crazy those guys go from Canada they go down there and
You know, they have a little party and they all hook up at like the same place to go. How do they do they mate down there? Some of them die and then they just come back. So although that's really, really the count is really down. Well, like you cast the first owner didn't go to Mexico made it and died. Just saying. That's how they got the reputation. The monarch started at some way. But I'm a firm believer what mother nature shows. I agree. Yep. No question about it. Cool stuff. We got to text your Chicago.
The draft had some rain, says Pat. That was the first one. Was it first out of New York, first outdoor one, so to speak? I don't know. I think it was, though. I think you're right. I think Chicago had the first one. I really do. All right, Brayton, you have one more time. Give us a quick forecast, and we'll let you get on to your wonderful day. All right, so we've got a little bit of light showers this morning. Those will clear out of here. We'll actually see some sun by sunset today. Highs in the upper 40s, and then tomorrow afternoon, a chance of some light showers as...
temperatures hit those mid 50s. Then the warm front lifts in for Wednesday. Beautiful sunshine highs near 70 degrees on Wednesday. We've got some light rain moving in at night. Those sprinkles could last through Thursday morning. We'll stay mostly cloudy on Thursday highs in the mid sixties and then some light rain moving in by the evening. That'll continue into our Friday afternoon before that clears on out of here. Highs on Friday will still be in the low sixties winds pulling out of the north getting a little breezy and then Saturday the high pressure system settles in.
Tons of sunshine highs in the upper fifties and we stay bright and beautiful into Sunday highs at about 60. Perfect. We'll take it. We'll take it. And you know, one thing about being over there amongst the whole thing, as far as that wind, I think there's going to be so much stuff around as far as wind barriers. Yeah. The bleachers seating in the middle of winter, you're surrounded by people. You've got that body warmth. It's not even as cold as Soldier Field gets. No way. Yeah. And there's besides the stuff in the tent, there's a lot of stuff in the bowl. Yeah.
So we're going to be a great shape. The other thing that's kind of good about that forecast is six months ago or whatever, people were talking about snow. So people were like, wow, there's nothing. The weather's going to be great, even if it doesn't. Now, we'll take that. I'm looking forward to going into the bull and kind of watching some of it. I think that's kind of cool. That Wisconsin day is going to be awesome. Yeah.
I'm looking forward to Brittany. Thank you for getting up early for us. I hope to see you here on Green Bay, Wisconsin this week and Let's just have a great time despite my I don't know if I mentioned my root canal today. Don't even worry about it You've got this. Okay. You're strong. You got this. I'll see you guys this week Have fun. Thank you, Brittany. You're the best. Bye. See ya. You too. Brittany Merlot, civic media meteorologist. You know what? She could give the worst forecast in the world. We're gonna have a hurricane. It's gonna be so fun. And you still feel good about it because she's just nice. Yeah, and she's so
Independent, like she's, you know, that EAA and coming here and skiing and kayaking. Hook up the trailer, hook up the pop-up, drive the truck, do the whole thing. Yeah, yeah.
tougher than both of us like you know she's more independent more we would just yeah she would give up the orders way more independent than you John did we ask you did we ask you time she would be like how do i get this coffee staying out of my shirt you know no she would take charge don't recognize that voice stop i'll be honest with you just throwing that out we do have some dawn dish liquid in the uh in the kitchen so if you want to rinse that out yeah go jump on that train the next break you got time all right i will when we come back
whatever you want to know about any player that's going to be drafted in the National Football League draft. I think they said 16 so far coming of the players of the potential top picks. You know what? I could talk to you about where I think this is all going to end up. That seems low, doesn't it? Very. Okay, that's like half. I do. I think they're going to... Okay, we'll talk about that. Yeah.
Alright, but anyway, if you have any questions, we've got the editor for Lindy Sports Draft Magazine, the 2025 Draft Guide. He's coming up next. Any questions? Text us.
Hey, thank you very much welcome back might on the mirror here 706 sunny good looking Monday morning and 97.9 FM WGBW 98.3 and 96.5 FM WSS of course the Civic Media app 44 degrees and Green Bay 45 and Ampton 46 and Oshkosh forecast cloudy was showers
High in the low 50s, but as Brittany Merleau said, there's gonna be some nice weather coming up. Gotta deal with a few little rain showers and things like that. It looks like, but otherwise, it's gonna be a great week. Looks like those rain showers are gonna be through like the night. I don't think they're gonna be like during the peak times. It sounded like with her. So I think we're gonna be all right. But again.
She wasn't saying 38 degrees and no 40 mile an hour wins like is what we've had very recently here I get a texture. I'd love to see Green Bay move way up to take Travis Hunter He can play wide receiver of defensive back tired of Goody going for the boring linemen or DB's that don't pan out There's no way they'll get Travis Hunter. It would be phenomenal to have him But he is going to be probably the second player taken in the entire draft and Packers would have to forfeit pretty much everything to move up that high
You know, there hasn't been, again, from a lay person. It didn't seem like a lot of chatter about that because the draft is taken over. About who they're drafting? Yeah, I agree. I just like, if you asked me three people, I would be like, I don't know. But when you're drafting 23rd. It's not that exciting anyway. You know what I mean? It's pretty tough. But it's their chatter of trading up and all that. There always is chatter. But again, when you're drafting that low, you really got to pull off.
you know, some big moves. I remember when I was a kid, it was like the biggest and we're like, Oh my God. Does anybody else remember when the Packers made the trade with Chicago Bears? I want to say for the second pick. Oh, well, overall in the draft and they gave the Bears. I remember Elijah Pitts, Leroy Caffey, and I think Bob Highland. If I'm not mistaken, somebody helped me out on this one in order to get Mike McCoy.
the big defensive lineman from Notre Dame, who was going to be, he was almost like the Tony Mandrich of his day, although a nicer guy, I shouldn't say nicer guy, Tony was a nice guy, but he was almost like the Tony Mandrich of his day in that he was so hyped, you know, cover of Sports Illustrated, cover of some other man, cover, he was that guy. And he turned out to be very, very average.
But when we're talking about guys being drafted and draft and where we've got the guru the editor of Lindy Sports pre draft magazine to a thousand twenty five draft guide which you can buy at bosses news on Broadway Street downtown to appear. It is the literal Bible of this draft Dean Bruce. Good morning. Thank you for taking the time to join mine on the mayor here in Green Bay Alpton and Oshkosh.
Hey, good morning, guys. How are you today? Outstanding. How are you? No, we already, okay. You know, these crazy things are happening. You know, we're talking about how far up can they move to get a Travis Hunter? How fun. These are, that's all part of the fun of heading into a draft. And I just have to say though, I was talking about when I was a little kid, the Packers did a big trade to draft that, but they have Mike McCoy out of Notre Dame who didn't pan out yet. You gotta, boy, people can get so excited about moving up. But if you go through history, a lot of those didn't pan out. Wouldn't you agree?
Yeah, I would say so. I mean, you've got some examples like the Zach Wilson, or not even the Zach Wilson bit trade, the trade, Lance trade, that was one of the Hallmark big trades of the decade. That one hasn't panned out at all. The Bryce Young trade moving up to get him. I mean, that's just completely not panned out. I mean, there's just been a history, especially with the quarterback position. I mean, I don't think that's very likely this year. I don't think anyone's moving up for Chador, but.
Uh, I think it's, it's difficult to get those guys, especially in the first round to trade up for them. I think it's, it often doesn't work out as often as you want to lose in capital. Right. Dean, I'm always curious as in the war room, you know, you've got, well here in Green Bay, right? Ed, Ed policy, of course, obviously the, the, the, the coach, uh, Goody Murphy, uh, Goody. What, what they, that can't all be unanimous. Like at the end of the day, who puts their foot down says this is it.
I mean, it's going to be the general manager for the most part. I mean, the coach always has a little bit of hand in this. I'm sure Mike McCarthy will get some, get some talking about what he wants to do. But, um, I think at the end of the day, it's going to be the Packers GM. I believe it's going to be able to, you know, put his foot down and be like, Hey, this is our guy. This is who we're going after. I wouldn't be shocked if the past catcher this year. I think getting Jordan love more weapons is going to be a big priority for them, but it could also be secondary. I know they lost a lot of guys this year. I think, I think.
It's gonna be interesting. I don't know. I don't know if there's anyone I'd want to move up for either those positions The depth is so strong at cornerback and about where y'all picking I think it's I think wide receivers not out of play Dean I gotta be honest here, man I've covered the Packers since 1984 and I don't know if there's ever been a year where we went into a draft where we didn't say we got to get some wide receivers for Lynn Dickie for Brett for Aaron Rogers for Jordan Love that's been going on for years and years and years and I swear every year Packer friends are all excited and it's from
Iowa State offensive lineman Joe blow. And it's like, you know, you need those people. Exactly. But just that excitement part before you want that guy that you know something about and you've read about in your magazines and things like that. That's a big part of this whole thing is that entertainment value. Wouldn't you say, Dean? Oh yeah, for sure. I mean, there's always going to be higher projections. There's always going to be guys who really pound the table for these past catchers, for these running backs, for these guys who, you know, score the touchdowns. But I mean,
good comes back historically built in the trenches and built on that back into the defense and that is something that often when championships I mean look at how the lion set themselves up they built that great offensive line and now they're super bowl contenders perennial and I think I think it could be fine either way I think love needs weapons I also think love needs a good foundation to build off of he can't do all the work himself he's a great quarterback but he's not the only guy on the field you know
Absolutely. Do you think there's gonna be any surprises? It seems like teams have gotten a little more conservative over the years. Like, I mean, they invest so much time, so much effort, so many miles, so many hours to really study these guys, to the minutiae of these guys. But it's one of those things, you know, that all, when they really got their hearts set on the guy, it takes a real sweetheart deal to move off of some of these guys, especially at the last minute, wouldn't you agree?
Oh, a hundred percent. Yeah. I don't know if we're going to see any big time tradeups in the top 10. I mean, this is the first year in what, like 30 years that we haven't had a first round trade before the draft has started. It just seems like this is a really good depth class. And it's all, but it's not as packed with that top end talent. I wouldn't expect to see many trade downs or trade ups, if any, in that first round, just based on how much that depth class is stacked. And people are going to want to get these, you know, maybe it's not a star on their team, but they're going to get like some solid
Low end to mid-tier starters throughout the draft and I don't see a lot of teams willing to cart ways with those picks, you know and This is expensive days for for these teams. I mean, there's this whole salary cap thing What do you think about carving out the quarterback having that be really not part of the salary cap letting that be a separate entity and then having salary caps for the rest of the team I mean, that's been I think it's an interesting strategy for sure. I I would
I mean, you have to consider the quarterback in the cards. But I mean, if you have a star quarterback, like Mahomes, they gave all of that money to Mahomes and it's worked out perfectly for him. They've been in the Super Bowl like what, four out of five last five years, you got to, if you got to pay these stud quarterbacks, what do you want to give them? But
It is something you have to consider because otherwise you end up like the saints in cap hell where you don't have the money to pay for these top end quarterbacks. Even if you get one on a rookie contract, he's going to be out five years on the deal. Like you got to make sure you're paying attention. But I do understand if you've got that star, like the Mahomes, like the hurt, like guys who can take to those championships carving out a hole for him. I understand it. Obviously, Dean, you know, pretty much every player that's out there, it's going to be drafted this year.
Just in watching the Packers possibly casually, you know the way you have it being in Philly only got to see him twice last year If you were going against the Packers, you know, if you if you scouted the Packers and saw their flaws, what would you say they needed? Sorry, let's see could you repeat that? I am not hearing you. Oh, I'm sorry. You still there Dean Oh We lost you. Well last Dean phone went down. All right
Okay, we'll get back to him. Dean Bruce from Lindy Sports, the guru of the NFL draft guide. Those are always fun to read. Actually, you know, it's actually, you know, it's a lot more fun because I save those. I've got those from years past. It's fun reading about some guys who are so hyped and then just, I was going to ask him about the marketing side of it. And when do they start? And do they hire people to do that? Like Tony Mandrake, remember? I think he was on, was it Jay Leonard or was it Johnny Carson? Letterman or Letterman? Just unbelievable. The then.
you know like you said it just didn't pan out how much of that does that really affect it does it nowadays everybody's got it Tony was one of the first people ever to have an entourage so to speak and one of the biggest guys with Tony and he was his brother who kind of steered him the wrong way I don't know if that's going on anymore Dean you're back there buddy
Yeah, sorry about that. No problem having some phone problems this morning. No problem Dean Bruce Lindy Sports Magazine We were just talking about the overhype of some guys over the year Dean Do you think that that you know it like we're talking about Tony Mander? She was actually a really great friend of ours. He comes on the show I used to hang out with them all those games. He's genuinely a really nice guy. Do you? Yeah
Do you think guys actually do hurt themselves in those pre draft interviews? Or do you think that's a little bit BS? And it's like, Hey, if this guy runs the four to eight and he might be a little bit of a whatever, whatever versus some guy that runs the four six that otherwise they're going to still take that four to eight guy, aren't they? I mean, they overlook some warts. Wouldn't you agree? Oh, yeah, 100%. I mean, there are teams that really play into their.
play into their interviews. Like I think the Bengals really take a lot of interviews into account, although it didn't work with that Jermaine Burton fella, but there's a lot of teams that take interviews into account, but the teams that tend to succeed, but she's the end like the lines and stuff like that. They have taken guys, these character concerns in the past and it's worked out for them because a lot at the end of the day, a lot of these guys are just here to play football. They're trying to get a.
team that, you know, can beat these corners down the field with their speed. They can beat these guys with their strength. If you're going to get a stronger, faster player and you think you can manage some of those character concerns, you take him because that's going to make you a better football squad. It's not always about personality for these guys. Who do you, Dean? We have two minutes here. We first said it to a quick break. Who do you see? You know, obviously Mel Kuiper has made a career out of, you know, doing what he does, but there have been so many more that have come after him. Who do you give a lot of credibility to?
Oh, in the draft, I love Todd McShay. I think, I mean, I think Mel Kuiper is one of the like legends of the game. I love Dane Bruegler, the beast. He's sort of, you know, super charged our Lindy's guy, like sort of a guy I take a lot of inspiration from when I'm making my journalism, like my Lindy's guy is his beast articles. He just does them so perfectly. I always trust Dane Bruegler. I'll watch Mel Kuiper when he's on. He has his misses, but he's been in the game for so long. You got to respect it.
and probably Todd McShea. I mean, he's just a great guy. He's just been an inspiration for a lot of scouting columns. So I think, I think those three are who I look out for when projecting because they seem to know, they seem to know what's up and they seem to always, you know, have a finger on the pulse. Dean Bruce, can you stick around for one minute? We've got some more questions about the draft. It's the last shot we got at somebody like you. Is that cool? Yeah, sounds good. Oh, Dean Bruce, Lindy Sports draft guide, the preview located at bosses down on Broadway in Green Bay.
You got any questions for him? You text him to us. We've got more with him right after this.
It's a celebration. Celebrate good times no more. Let's celebrate. Hey, welcome back. Mine on the mirror here, 97.9 FM, WGBW 98.3, 96.5 FM. Coming right from Appleton and Oshkosh and of course the Civic Media app worldwide.
So we're going back to Philadelphia Dean Bruce Lindy sports draft preview magazine It is the Bible for their draft coming up this week. So Dean you are you here? Are you coming in for this? I'm still here. I'm right here. No, man. He means in Green Bay. Are you coming to Green Bay? Oh, of course not. I can't make it out there. I'd love to I'm gonna be at the draft in Pittsburgh next year. But yes, I'd love to be there. Okay. I didn't know what do you think about it coming to Green Bay this whole rotation thing and we're we're a little bummed that not the first
Some of these guys aren't going to be here. Only 16. Does that seem low, Dean? It's a little low. I think it's because there's a lot of uncertainty in that quarterback position. We saw Jackson Dart drop out of being in attendance for the draft early, and he would have been nice to come to Green Bay. And Chador Sanders is staying home with his family. Right. And a lot of those flashy guys they want are quarterbacks. Right. Do you think these guys are going to, like, is this going to evolve to where they have their own little
parties, but I'll tell you something. I think it's because some of the guys don't want to be embarrassed. Wouldn't you agree? I think that's why Jackson Dart dropped out. I think he got word that he wasn't going to be picked in the first round. And I think he was like, well, I don't want to be that guy who gets posted on Twitter.
stuck in the green room and you feel sorry for him you just got to never goes away it just oh man like i said on the story the other day uh brady quinn's sister became a really great friend of mine of all of ours she did a lot of things for charity here and of course married to a j hawk and i joked with her one time where it's like i remember when
when, you know, as close on the, the lion's around the clock, boy, Brady Quinn, a lot of rumors. He's going, and his girlfriend was like sitting right next to him, cuddled up. You didn't get shredded. She was a little further away and then a little further away. And then all of a sudden she wasn't in a picture anymore. Oh gosh. Oh yeah. So, okay. Yeah. Yeah. But what, Dean, heading into something like this, you give me some guys, you put together a great draft guide. You tell us guys to look for that might go up or might go down.
might go up. I would say James Pierce Jr. I know there's been some character concerns about him, but he ran a 4-4-3 at the combine, something like that as an edge rusher. He's a little light in the pants, but I think he's one of those guys who those moves, the past rush moves are just so impeccable in his speed. He wins so quickly. I think he could be a pretty consistently like riser into that mid first round. Another guy who I have my eyes on as a riser, I would say is
jaden higgins and i was statewide receiver uh... he's a big body guy who still get separation really good with the contested catches but he fast enough to work not like you know we're not thinking about some of those like uh... i'm trying to think of like kevin white and stuff like that like a big draft bus the big tall guy to tend to bust our he's a little different from them because he's still got that separation a guy who i think maybe trending downward
i think you will you'll be sure to understand it follow a little further than expected i think at point you've got it in the top ten but i think he's probably going to land land somewhere in the twenty is maybe even a trade up in the back half of the first why i don't know if it's arm strength is i don't know if the arm strength is there he's he's got the nfl bloodline he's got the accuracy but teams will have a big arm
And he just doesn't quite have it. What about as far as just the whole package that comes with it, like Dian was saying that there are some cities he doesn't want to play in and this and that, um, turning people off.
i think maybe i mean it's it's again it's how we talk about with those interviews if he's a guy who you love you have a straight you have the accuracy but you you don't want to always have that family package you don't want to be coach prime breathing down your neck at the head coach you might be inclined to fight against them just to save your job because he's right
You don't want that attached to your name. I mean, it wouldn't shock me if some teams were fighting against them because they don't want the circus around it. I mean, New York media, especially, I think that's part of why the Giants aren't as high on them as maybe he could be. So you cover this and you cover it in great detail. Do you stick around to the end, these last guys? For those of us who are runners, but not real good runners, it's always nice to see the guy finish the marathon towards the end in five, five and a half hours. Do you state?
Do you cover these guys at the end? The last, was it going to 300? Was it 323? Yeah, there's about 256, I think. Okay, okay, okay. You cover those last six guys. I'll watch them all. I mean, I've had to watch them all for this magazine. I've covered, I covered, I think,
of we were doing a, we did a little bit of a split this year, but I think I covered around 150 guys and not all those guys are going to be the top 150. So I might as well stick around, see some of the guys that I fell in love with, who maybe the NFL isn't as in on going that like sixth, seventh round. I mean, it's, it's part of my life. It's a big passion of mine and one of my top hobbies. So I might as well, I might as well see it through, you know, for Green Bay to have that experience to get to stick around, see it for that full 72 hours. We got a safety at Wisconsin, I think could turn out to be a sleeper.
Oh, yeah. Hunter Woller. I am exactly in your boat. Yeah. I think he's very good. I think he's a great player. I think he's very instinctual. He's got some really great tackling reps. There's another guy from Wisconsin. I like Joe Huber, an offensive guard. I think you could look out for his name to be called in the sixth or seventh, and he might surprise you. He's got some really good strengths. He's got some of that Wisconsin farm boy strength, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. And those are the kids that have made it big. It's those big linemen like that. Like we had one couple of years ago, Bartolini from Wisconsin, right here in Kiwani, and he's
I mean, he was a great pickup for the Colts. Yeah. Yeah. He was an incredible athlete. So number one thing we're winding down here, but Dean, heading into this, you're, I mean, it's an old saying that your grandpa goes, but your juices still flowing when you go into this, or is it more of, it's what I do for a living. And this is that, I got a feeling you get pretty pumped for this. Sounds pretty well done. Yeah. Oh, I get pretty pumped. I mean,
It's, it's one of the biggest sports events of the year for me. It may be the biggest sports event of the year for me. It's my Super Bowl. I, I mean, I do a lot of work for it. I do a lot of work writing down these players and all that, but you know, it's the culmination of all that. It's the culmination of all this hard work and it makes my, it makes my blood flow. I mean, I, I hate to admit it, but I might care about it more than the Super Bowl some years, depending on who's in it. I gotta just sell one more atcha. Cam Ward.
number one pick easy. I think lock it in and I think he's going to be a good number one pick. His confidence and poise is just impeccable. You can't you can't pass up on a guy who can sling it that far with pressure in his face. It's it's going to be he's going to be battle tested in the NFL and he's going to do great with it. Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter also great should play two ways if he's not playing two ways you're misusing him. Another kid I really like. Two kids I really like. I don't hear much. Well the kid the running back from Boise State.
Ashton Junty. Walk him in as a Jaguar. I'm a Jaguar fan. I've been hearing we really like him. And the running back from ASU, my alma mater. Cam Scattaboo. Yeah, I mean, I think he's probably going to be around third round, maybe even second round type, but he's going to drag some guys with him. He's not the fastest, but he may have the best contact balance up there with Junty. And he'll be the guy you don't want to practice again because he'll stick you in the chest with his head every time.
Oh God, it'll hurt playing against him. Don't worry about it. Dean Bruce, you're awesome. How can we find all of your stuff? You can find our YouTube channel. I've got a YouTube channel going called Two Minute Drill. You can look me up there. You can also follow me on Instagram and Twitter at DeanIsTired. And you can find the Lindy's Rap Guide in any bookstore near you. I know you've got a local bookstore that carries it. We're going to keep pumping that for you, buddy. Thank you so much for all your insight and take the time. We truly appreciate it.
I'm happy to be here. Have a good one. Thanks, buddy. Dean Bruce, Lindy Sports, draft guru, draft guide, picking up at bosses in deep here. Quick break. Back right after this.

For WGBW and WISS News, I'm Lisa Hale. If the thing keeping you from going to the NFL draft near Lambeau Field this week is the drive, the traffic, and the thought of trying to park, the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau has the solution, said Pam Seidel, executive director of the CVB. Everybody knows where Fox River Mall is. They've given us the whole section of the parking lot. We've got six coach buses, real easy trip up, you know, on both Thursday and Friday.
The shuttle service will cost $60 round trip.

Oshkosh fire officials say they were called to a structure fire on Burdick Street. In their initial search, one resident was found and taken to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The home had another resident, but they were not there at the time of the fire, which remains under

A new artificial intelligence tool developed by UW Madison could streamline care for people battling opioid use. The AI tool was able to identify hospitalized adults at risk for opioid use disorder and recommend them to addiction specialists.
The tool can scan clinical notes, medical history, and other health records in seconds for patterns associated with opioid use. Hey, thank you very much. Welcome back, my non-mer. Special thanks to Dean Bruce from Lindy Sports, the 2025 draft guide, Brittany Merlot, Civic Media, meteorologist, giving us that forecast for this coming week, which is okay, we will take it. And now we're being joined by Andrew Zimdar's GPS education partners. Good morning, Andrew. Good morning. Did I pronounce your last name correct? Yes or no? Yes, you did. All right. Zimdar's. I'd like that.
When nationality is that? I'm going to say Dutch. So we tracked it back. I believe it's Polish. Oh, it is Polish. Yeah, there's actually a town in Poland that's unincorporated that is Zimdar Z with an E on the end. I was going to say, has that been changed then from the time you came over? Someday I'll return in glory and go back to that city. But there's a town in that name where you got to go back there, don't you? How far back? My grandpa actually grew up in Depeere.
and has been here for a while, but I'm not sure how many generations back. Have you done the genealogy type stuff? My grandparents have, yeah. I often unpack that someday. I think that's cool, man. I'm fascinated by that stuff. Andrew Zimdarski. So welcome. So Andrew, you were an educator, coach. You noticed in traditional education that as much as we try, it's not for everyone.
Yeah, so my original training was as a teacher. I taught in a parochial school for a while with all the subjects. And then I was an English teacher for a while as well. Which parochial school? It was in Milwaukee. It was in Saviour Lutheran. Shout out if anybody down there is listening. But I was at Walkshawn North as well. And there were students in the classroom that as much as I tried to engage them, my English curriculum was never going to be their jam, right?
and they wanted to work with their hands, they thrived in the TechEd shop classes. And so it was kind of always wondering, like, how do I reach those kids? And it wasn't until I found this program that I could kind of tangibly do that. Yeah, I gotta give you a lot of credit for noticing that, because I do think there's kids that struggle, and they're smart kids. It's just not...
Like you said, they're jam. They're it's not their thing. So yeah, tell me what you created and I'm the acceptance because I'm a huge advocate for what you're talking about. But go ahead. Yeah. Yeah. So our organization is 25 years old. It was founded by actually by Generac back in 2000 with the idea that they were at that time in the walkshaw area trying to get more kids interested and engaged and exposed to careers of manufacturing. And
wanting to do that the high school age ranges so that as students graduated high school they were ready to go into the careers and fill the talent pipeline that Generac had. Fast forward now we're our own non-profits still very much supported by Generac but the idea is changing the four walls of how kids see school.
and making it more engaging and relevant and matching the career path these kids see. So what we do is we run what are called education centers, which are literally classrooms embedded within a manufacturing facility. And students then go to school with us part of the day. They get more of a technical curriculum and a career readiness like coaching. Can I just jump in on that? Just one quick thing about that. My era, Jim's era.
It was like, wow, if you didn't go to a four year college, you're not as cool as the rest of us. That has turned 180 degrees, because now these tech schools, for one thing, have become so much more attuned to what we need out there in the real world that they've become so popular right now. And another caveat, if I'm correct or if I'm wrong,
Cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching, people are walking away with there with some really nice, well-paying jobs and careers. I just want to throw that out there. Yeah, so the career gap between teaching and what I'm doing now is I worked in higher ed for eight years, and you can see student loan debt through the system, and it was shocking how much student loan debt was there. And as a millennial, we all went to college because that was the next thing you did. Exactly.
And we went for the experience and then tried to figure out what we were going to do as part of that. And I think what we're trying to do, and a lot of educators are trying to do is help students see that there's a path that doesn't have to involve going to a four-year college, technical college, or working right out of high school is very acceptable and still great paying jobs. And you can always go back to college if you need to continue. Love it. Love it. And how I, I open in there when someone does go to a four-year college and then
goes to a technical school after that. You know what I mean? And that happens. To get a job. Right. That does happen. But your schools, it's different because you're catching them earlier than all that minutiae that they have gone through. So when they're a junior, do they apply to your program? Do you seek them out? Do you notice them when they're freshmen, sophomores? And hey, look, I take a look at this. Yeah. So the schools we partner with in the Fox cities,
We work a lot with the counselors and they tend to see students where there's an engagement or maybe attendance or just a struggle with with traditional school and But those kids might be thriving in their in their shop classes, right? And so we myself start to talk with those counselors and say who are those students? Let's talk to them and then students apply And then they'll start to enter the program their junior or senior year Typically, it's junior year for two years and then they'll finish out their high school
with us. Okay, this is something when I interviewed this lady one time, and she was living in Germany during World War II, and then the Russians came in. They were just citizens, just normal Russians came in, took all these girls, brought them to these camps.
So to speak. And I thought, oh my god, that's terrible. It's just, well, actually it was kind of nice. I mean, we're fed. We were whatever, whatever. And then they gave them all kinds of tests. And whatever they were really scored highest on, they put them in schools for that. Her and her sister, by chance, were great singer, dancer, entertainers that her entire career, her entire life, was a singer and a dancer. Another kid was really good at math. He became an engineer. Now, again, we're talking about this. So I'm sitting here.
almost embracing the Soviet system of doing things in the 1940s. And I don't mean to come off weird in that way, but I thought that had a lot of merit. What do you think about that? So when we get the students in the program, part of what we do is the other half of the day after they're done with their more technical curriculum with us at the Education Center is we place them in a youth apprenticeship. And we spend the first
Month to two months with these kids and what we call road to employability and what that is is we're trying to teach them employability skills for when they enter the workforce What's gonna be expected of them how they're gonna be successful? But the other part of it is is really figuring out like what does that? Kid like to do where their aptitudes their interests and then how does that match up with the businesses that we partner with where we place them for youth apprenticeship So that there's a good match there in terms of how they're wired and how they're gonna be successful. I think that's great
As long as they get that well-rounded education, I agree that half, and you say half the day is spent in this track then, we'll call it that, on technical skills, because they're great at it in the school they're in now, and you really focus on that. But the other half they still learn, you know, the history and English and things that, I guess you just need sciences, whether you're gonna use that every day or not, you just need to know that to, that just, like I said, be part of the mainstream. These kids then, do they,
Do they then give up the band and sports, the extracurricular, or do you weave that into your program? Great question. So what's really unique about our program is the schools that partner with us take on our curriculum as a pathway to graduation. I just want to reintroduce you, Andrew. Andrew Zimnar's GPS Education Partners. Correct. Go ahead. Yeah, so when the students enter the program, they maintain their status at their home high school.
So when they graduate, they get their diploma from the high school that's sponsoring them. And so as part of that, they maintain their ability to do sports, extracurriculars. In fact, we encourage that because we want them to continue to maintain that connection to the home high school and the activity. Social aspect. Yeah, exactly. Yep. Candidly for a lot of our students, they just want to be kind of done with traditional school and just enter the workforce and do that part of it. But for those students where
you know, sports or whatever it might be still are really important to them. We work around that schedule to make sure they can still do those things. So these kids, I think this is great. I mean, they're learning something they like and I, if you like something, you're going to learn it better. I mean, just common sense. Then an internship comes with it as well. Yep. So the youth apprenticeship, we partner with businesses that see a match with the mission and the model of what we're trying to do. And then also kind of want that matchmaking process of finding that the kid that they're getting.
for the youth apprenticeship is the right fit for what they're looking for. And then as part of the program, everything that's happening in the classroom, we would like for them to see in the job, right? So there's kind of a holistic learning there. And then vice versa, everything that's happening on the job, we want to actively communicate with those businesses on what's going on so that we can then coach and teach that in the classroom too. So perfect example, we'll hear a lot of times from the businesses we partner with that, you know, students shift starts at eight o'clock.
and they're showing up at eight o'clock. So then in the classroom, we're coaching them on, hey, you need to be clocked in at 7.50 so that you're at your station by eight o'clock to start working. So those are the relationships we have with the businesses to learn what's going on. May I just ask this gently? Absolutely. Again, I'm not throwing out the generation Xs or Ys or millennia, but something has happened a little bit over the years where
younger kids, not saying all of them, but in general, great kids, super kids, but sometimes there just seems to be a little bit of a laissez-faire attitude towards that other job. Am I correct? Um, it's funny as I've gotten older. I'm being gentle and asking that question. As I've gotten older, I started, you know, making comments and I'm like, oh man, I'm not, get off my long guy, right? But, um, I think it's
I think with everything we have to remember and I have to remind myself that these are 16, 17, 18 year old kids. They don't know what they don't know. We have years and years of experience professionally and with life and whatnot. And so part of this program that's awesome is it's a way, low stakes way for kids to practice and learn. And I think one reminder can do it.
And I think sometimes, you know, we're talking- Well, that's why good internship, we've both, a good internship is as valuable as anything. Right. And so we always say there's not no bad kids, maybe some bad parents out there, but I mean, they have to learn this from someone. And whether you or the internship or what you're teaching in these soft skills, you know, they know the technical things. I want to talk about these kids that graduate. Are they then encouraged?
to go on for another two years, I think that's really important because there's a lot of statistics that if you go for two years, you've got benefits, you're gonna make more money, high school graduation is great, but that's really just the first step. Yeah, so this time of year, this is perfect time of year to talk about this, we are starting to have those active coaching conversations with our students about where they're at and is their business gonna offer them a full-time job? A few years ago, it was a guarantee.
It's not necessarily a guarantee that every company has openings right now that, so that's part of the coaching, right? But as part of that, we then start to get them to think about, okay, staying at that business, you've built up some attendance and skill set at that business, so let's stay there, but then let's also think about going on and continuing your education at the technical college.
maybe being a registered apprentice, that kind of thing. Okay, Andrew Zimdar's GPS education partners. Can you stick around? We have more. I want to know if somebody was in high school right now or parents listening. How do I get involved in this program? What's the grassroots aspect of it and go from there? Cool. Any community is that you're serving right now? Yeah. I want to talk about that. Perfect. All right. Upstanding Andrew Zimmar's GPS education partners are also known as Zimdar ski for our friends listening in Poland. Back after this.
Hey, welcome back.
Mine of the Mayor here on a good-looking Monday morning.
It is draft week, of course, throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
Andrew Zimdar's GPS education partners here.
Very interesting stuff.
Jim, take it and run.
And what Andrew works on is, would you say, eight school districts you're involved in?
Eight sites we have in Wisconsin.
Eight sites.
And what he does is, you may have a student that's freshman sophomore and just struggling a little bit, yet when he goes into other classes that are a little more technical,
he just thrives and just or she just loves it.
And so you've got this school now where you can take the last two years in your, I guess it's without walls and they learn more technical education and plus they learn the other curricular activities as well.
Tell me, give me an example of a student that you met with the counselor and thought she should be with you versus another two years of
getting a career that
you know, they enjoy that, you know, they got the chromosomes or whatever geared towards that thing.
I love that.
Looking forward to school.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So there's not really a one size fits all kind of label for students.
It could be a student that is doing fantastic in school, but really is super disengaged and just kind of coasting and doesn't want to be there.
It could also be a student that's really struggling with attendance, you know, GPA, all that stuff.
But the kind of common theme is that school
They don't see the why behind school, right?
The engagement, the relevancy is just not there.
And there's a potential that there could be some, you know, kind of falling off the tracks and maybe graduation is a little bit in question.
So typically those are the students.
But yet
they've still got skills.
Yes, 100%.
You see them at home.
They tinker with stuff.
They're working on their car, whatever their truck.
And you can clearly see they have an intelligence that shines through in a different way.
or in software or something where they're smarter than, they're just not doing the traditional things,
right?
I
mean, because you have that 18% disengagement, I don't really call it dropout, but on both the high end and the low end, you know what I mean?
It's just, we have to address that and your program does that.
So just talk through one of your sites and how successful it is.
Yeah, I would say another big key is for us, we really focus on work.
So a student has to be motivated by the idea of work, getting exposed to work, making money.
And all everything that goes into that, a lot of our kids would rather be at work than at school.
And so if that's something that kids kind of a characteristic of theirs, they might be a good fit.
So in the Fox cities, we are our site is at Manasha packaging and Nina.
We have a classroom there and the students will spend three hours of their day learning the curriculum there and doing their stuff for graduation.
And then we will place them in a business somewhere in the Fox cities with a match to their skill set and interests.
I
love it.
Love it.
Like if somebody wanted to be a welder.
Yep.
Yep.
So manufacturing, construction, automotive, skilled trades, those technical jobs, that's our, our key demographic of, of businesses.
I will say one thing is you throw the automotive thing, you got to be so sharp and attuned.
I mean, my brother's garage, where I grew up, it's like you changed somebody's spark plugs or whatever.
Nowadays, I wouldn't touch a thing under a hood and these are, these kids have to be so technically adapt for that, don't they?
Yeah.
And I get a shout out.
They can make big money.
Yeah, I gotta give a shout out to Berkshire Automotive.
They've been a great partner of ours and have opened up their doors to allow our kids to come in and be youth apprentices and learn the automotive trade.
And we continue to see a huge number of kids that come in that want to learn that industry.
And they've just been an awesome partner and supporter in allowing that opportunity for our kids and I'm
gonna say it I just kids from my high school You know auto shop you always thought of them as the hoods at the time Okay, and they were the kids that you know didn't pay attention and clear whatever it didn't And you open up that hood and all of a sudden magic happens the same kid that couldn't diagram a sentence It didn't want to he could like overhaul that engine
especially when he's working on that division with the Porsches the machine
But you know what I'm saying is just you got you know
Call it God or whomever, everybody is wired differently.
And the beauty of- It's not
one size fits all.
The beauty of work-based learning is somebody can change an oil in isolation by themselves, right?
But the beauty of work-based learning is you are literally on a job site where now there's time, efficiency, other people you're working with, having to get along, work as a team.
All those experiences cannot be taught unless you actually experience them.
And so when our students go in and they get those opportunities,
It's a really huge life changing and growth opportunity for students early on that they can then take into their adult years.
Then you're in a professional environment.
Correct.
And I think that's a really important point that you're making right now is working as a team.
Be it your, no matter what field you're in, medical, anything, and even where I'm at.
We have they have to do a team project and many many students will come and say look I want to just do this on my own It's like no, that's not what we do here.
You've got you know people are different to different nationalities and you got to learn to work together I think that's great those kids are learning that at what 16 17 years old
Yeah, and we actually started this year a program where we took our kids through a personality assessment And so part of that was to teach them what they're really good at and their skill sets and then maybe where their gaps are
and how other parts of the team can help fill those gaps for them.
Just in knowing us, just like this was the first interview to do, what would you put him towards and recommend me towards?
I think you're doing what you need to be doing.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, it's BSing for
a
living.
Yeah, exactly.
50 years of BSing.
I think you might talk too much on the job floor and might not get a lot done.
So I think you're doing, you're just, you're
like, when I was a summer student, I hear Normines up in the UP and all the different people had different colored helmets, like a summer student, you have a white helmet with green stripes to let people know he's inexperienced and electricians were yellow or blue or whatever.
Everybody had to, and the bosses were green.
Then there's this other one, which was this other color I'd never seen before.
So I assumed it was a sales person and they would come on.
and they'd just give my helmet to us.
Well, no, that was actually like the superintendent.
So I'm leading on my shovel B.S.
some of the guy I think is, and the superintendent actually called one of the bosses over and goes, hey, hey, fuzzy, was it fuzzy?
He goes, I got a question for you.
He goes, is that a worker or a monument?
Because I haven't seen anything move except this mouth for half an hour.
I got I got let go because I kept wanting to change this the way they did things
Exactly
so the foreman came in and said it's him or me in
It was.
It was me.
Is that all it
takes?
That's what it took.
Todd, it's been two years.
Andrew Zandarski.
Andrew, this is great.
It's great having you,
man.
Thanks for having us.
How can we find you?
Yeah, gpsed.org, gpsed.org.
Beautiful.
Thanks for what you're doing.
Check it out, folks.
I
think it's fantastic.

Dean Bruce Lindy Sports Magazine, 2025 NFL draft guide.
You can pick up up bosses down, down to peer.
Brittney Merleau, Civic media meteorologist, Kevin Burkle joining us from Burkle's one block over, who is our very special host this year for our packer segment every Friday.
But first I say, Todd, sir, do you see Jim's hand?
What happened?
He was trying to cook over at Burkle's and he cut
himself.
What did you do?
I bought one of those.
the ginsu ginsu night man are those sharp holy mackerel but the guy said they're you know these are sharp yeah it looks
like the guy from halloween came out
i
know
it's 70 it was 70%
off for a minute there i thought i thought you're so religious and you hear about sometimes these
people's wounds in
their hands appear at easter
i thought
that's what i thought you put so i put
a spike in
your
hand i made lamb you know and you have to put the um
the bone.
No, no, but I was cutting it to put the garlic cloves in, right?
Yeah, yeah.
So I was doing that and I just slipped and it cut my hand and I couldn't believe how much had blood.
Well, all you gotta do is go like this for about five minutes.
Yeah, I did.
I did.
I put it.
Anyway, it was, uh, I should have probably got a couple stitches.
How was your kitchen?
Yeah, bloody.
So.
Anyway,
it'd be better
tomorrow.
So, John, I got to correct you on something right off the bat.
Talk to me.
It is now Berkel Sports Bar and Grill.
We rebranded a couple of weeks ago.
Oh, I'm
sorry.
No,
that's OK.
And I mean, the reason we did it is because, you know, when I originally opened up the bull.
Where are you?
Yeah,
we're one block over.
Where are you?
We're one block over.
I
should have did this a long time ago.
OK.
But we rebranded the Berkel Sports Bar and Grill and it fits our theme.
Beautiful.
100% now versus what, you know, the bull thing didn't fit.
The one block over didn't fit.
OK.
Beautiful.
Fantastic.
Yeah.
So you got some parking places available that you're renting out for the draft.
Yeah, we we're at about 1400 spots between me and my neighbors.
1500 probably.
Okay.
And it's Tony Cannadale Drive.
Right.
Tony Cannadale Run.
Or
Run.
So it's easy access because you can just drive up Lombardi.
That's not closed when you turn a quick trip and then you go to your place.
Yep.
Or
you could come
in from Ashland.
North or east
or west.
But Tony
Kennedy.
North or south.
That doesn't go all the way to Ashland, does it?
No, Tony Canada.
No, no.
So Tony Canada just runs.
It's like a two block stretch.
Right.
So if you come in from Ashland, north or south, you turn on.
What's that street by the trucking company on the corner?
I know.
I always get
a mixed up McCarthy to Bart Starr.
No, it's where is that?
I just did.
I just did a post for it for the.
I'll find it.
But anyway, um, so yeah, you just come in that way and there's easy access.
If you come in from Aston off of, uh, which is, is it Bart Starr?
Yes.
Bart Starr.
I
guess
what I'm saying is no matter what, only try to come into your place from the.
Far east side of Lambeau Field and the whole complex.
Correct.
Yeah.
Don't don't
don't try
anything from the west.
Right.
You're also a site for Uber drop off.
Uber drop off.
Yeah.
And there's a they're doing a lot of bus drop off and stuff there.
So yeah, there's a there's a lot of people that are going to be flowing that way.
It's just, you know, I don't understand why they didn't have access from the east side of the stadium because everybody's got to walk so far to get in
because the only access for general admission is
Over by the Kohler.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's far.
I mean, I don't feel like I'm from Green
Bay, but it is.
That's a 15 minute
walk.
Right.
Right.
You know, to get into the draft.
And, you know, for older people.
Right.
But I think they could still drive them up to what's the next street over.
I can't remember.
But and then you can drive as far as.
a ridge and then walked down from ridge a couple blocks over.
What do you mean drive?
Who's gonna
let go?
Well, no, if you can get
dropped off or just
dropped off at the corner, then repick or, you know, if you're parking down by us, you know, you come in
parking.
I
think
that's going to be an exciting area because your neighbors having a lot of entertainment.
Are you have entertainment as well?
We were gonna, but
the price just got too astronomically out of control.
It was it was great.
It was over $15,000.
Yeah, you know what?
I'm not gonna throw good money at I mean bad money at good money
Yeah, it's hard to say and it is I mean we don't have any precedent You know that we go.
Well, I was you know at so-and-so because each place they go as a unique
event.
Oh, yeah We don't know you can talk about we don't have a clue
we've never experienced it.
We don't know what it's gonna bring We don't know what it's gonna do and hopefully the weather It's okay.
Yeah, it sounds okay.
Okay, you know cuz you don't want that to
You don't want that to happen to people in an experience like this because it's a lifetime thing.
I don't want Northeast Wisconsin.
Ah, it's a frozen tundra.
It's terrible weather.
Why go there?
You know what I mean?
You want to this isn't like those cold games in December where people want to experience it of no, this is one they want to get out and We're summer clothes and enjoy it kind of
Kevin.
You're one of those guys I mean you get your ear to the ground a few times.
I've been in there.
You're you're there This has been going on for a year.
Would you say we've been talking about this for a year?
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
What are you hearing?
I mean, it's three days
away.
You know, it's really funny
Not a lot of anything.
I mean, you really just, I mean, it's like, it's really bizarre.
You know, I thought there would be just so much hyphen energy and it's just, I don't know.
It
seems like we're trying and people are trying, but it just doesn't gain a lot of traction and momentum.
No, that's what I'm and that's what's really troubling is, you know, I thought for sure this was going to be like something we've never experienced that the
the world's
fair.
Yeah, I
mean, yeah,
that's a good
one.
I'm not.
I'm just not hearing it or seeing it.
I mean, a lot of people, locals that I talked to or my customers aren't even going to stay in town.
Have we, have we hyped it to
the point of scaring people away?
Possibly.
We've, it's been on every day, right?
I mean, I don't mean just us
for the, you know, whatever it is, but the
whole
country.
Yeah.
Somebody said to me, do you think we've created an overdraft?
And I'm like, well, interesting.
Well, the problem is, is, you know, when
you look at access in and out of Green Bay,
right
to what they plan on coming here.
You better be prepared because it's not like you're coming to a Packard home game by any means right though detours and rerouting of traffic is absolutely incredible So you I mean you got to really know where you're going exactly
Exactly,
so I was talking about getting the lay of the land like even parking at your place Okay, and you got to walk, you know up and around or whatever at least that first time you kind of get the lay of the land And if you come back a second day you might have a different idea of what to do But until it happens and you're there it's pretty tough to do a walk-through and say it's gonna be fine
Nobody knows right exactly what Kevin saying those when you park at his place for a packer game You just walk into the night again.
You're right there.
I mean and now you've got
a
You got a you
got a haul.
There's some navigation.
Yeah, there's some serious navigation gonna be taking
place And that that really confuses me of why they open and end up I mean there's gonna be thousands of people coming in
like standing in line You would think right?
Yeah, right.
I mean, it's gonna be security checks
everywhere.
Okay They actually have security working on a street and So when we're lots are full they're gonna redirect people out of our area to different parking
Okay.
And that's coming right from one of the guys that's working with the NFL.
Okay.
I talked to him about a month ago.
Um, and he said,
well, that's good.
So they won't be bought on that.
No, that's what they don't.
Well, that's good.
They don't want people
driving in 20, Canada will run up to a legacy hotel
and parking in the middle of the street.
Well, and then have to turn around and come back.
Right.
Cause there's no
street parking anywhere.
Okay.
Okay.
But those lots behind you off of Bart Starr and Tony Cannadeo and McCartney, all those Bart Starr.
A lot of those will be available for parking.
There's going to be a ton of parking down by us.
Okay.
Well, and then you've got across.
And again, you just to tell people where you are, you're a curse of our thing Far East side of the stadium.
Far East side, right?
I mean, we're like three blocks off of Ashland.
Yeah.
But if you're, you know, even if you're coming in from Ashland, there's going to be so much parking.
You got the old trucking company, you got
the- Right.
And those
are large surface lots.
Oh, huge.
But Kevin, I was driving around there the other day, I was telling Johnny, and there's people out that haven't parked cars, and they're out there with their rulers.
Oh.
Because you've got, I don't know why the cars, but it's really funny to watch them, and they're always trying to make their little money.
But if it is the average, if it averages $100, let's just say that.
I mean, that's some serious money for three, four days.
Well, my neighbor, he spent over $10,000.
Others are striping.
Oh, he's striped.
OK.
He's striped every piece of grass.
I mean, he's got a lot of money invested in in getting this lot ready for the for the draft.
I've never seen striping on a grass.
Oh, yeah, it's
there.
He's striped.
He's he had a company
come
shock or
use it.
No, he had a company come in and professionally.
Oh, yeah,
it's it's phenomenal.
That probably I mean, it's groomed.
It's I mean, it's beautiful how he laid it out.
Wow.
So that's why he squeezed in 1,400 cars.
Right.
Holy cow.
Yeah, that's cool.
Yeah, that is there's probably there's
got to be 3,000 spots, you know between us and
bachelor down there
Ashlyn and around that whole area down there.
Okay.
Well, but the other thing is it's a walk
Are they do they have those we're talking about this do they have those Rick shots anymore or the guy?
Yeah, it's the bike.
They still have those I
think there's gonna be
I think there's going to be some kind of transportation to get people around.
I would have
got parts or something or something.
You would think I
drive one
of
those.
Yeah, I would do that.
Yeah, I would do the
customer this morning sent me a message.
Hey, do you have parking because my husband just had surgery and he can't walk very far.
And so, I mean, that's the closest they're finding.
Wow.
But that's a yes.
However, I mean, you can say, sure, I got parking, but that's not the front door.
No.
That's the front.
That's the
front door to a Berkel
Sports Bar and
Grill.
But you're going to be serving your great burgers and.
Oh, yeah.
Well, we got a really limit.
We really we really scaled on the menu just for the fact of what we're anticipating for people.
We don't want to have to have people sit and wait and wait.
Right.
You know,
I mean, we got the stuff.
It's ready to go.
It's it's turn and burn.
And there's going to be more food trucks there than a packer game.
Yeah, we have a couple of food trucks on property.
Yeah.
And then across the street, they've got there's food trucks all over the city.
Right.
And nobody's going to go hungry.
No, nobody's
definitely going to go hungry.
And the amount of money that was spent on inventory.
Yeah.
I was
it's it was in the it's in the millions.
I was telling our I hope there's a great turnout.
I hope there's 250, 300,000 people there.
But if not, I told I work at the homeless shelter.
I'm like, we should maybe be ready for.
Like you said
there's a great unknown yeah, but without that being said that almost makes a little bit more fun in some ways of
Oh, yeah, what's gonna
happen?
It's like
it's you know, it's like the dark side
when you go to a Super Bowl everything is so Unbelievably regimented, you know, and I
know a lot of people that went to the draft last year and they said it's just you know, it's
Thursday is the big day, right?
He said by Saturday, it's like,
well,
yeah,
you know,
who says six round draft?
Yeah, to the end, when you get to Saturday, so it's a lot of drinking.
Well, and I think the other thing about that, Kevin, even though there's a lot going on there, there's a lot of people pulling for some attention to, you know, downtown.
Oh, yeah.
Appleton has some things going on.
It's
going all the way to Milwaukee.
Yeah.
They're trucking people in from Milwaukee by buses.
Kevin, thanks for your support of our Packer project this past season.
It was really fun, haven't you?
Well,
we're going to do it again this year.
Outstanding.
Appreciate it.
Hey,
there's one other thing we're we got.
I'd like to get together with you after the draft on this fundraiser I'm doing for a restaurant owner down in Kentucky.
Really good friend of mine, close friend of mine from the flooding.
OK.
It's it's just horrific what happened to their business.
So after the draft is over, they reached out to me for help.
And so we're going
to see if we can help.
You help everybody needs.
So for you to ask.
Guaranteed Kevin Berkel.
Thanks very much.
Thanks
guys.
Have a great day everybody.
We'll see you for the draft.
We'll see you this way.
God bless Green Bay!
All right, I'll stop the dance.
Big things happening there, of course with a draft and parking and everything like that and again We're still kind of easing into it as far as you know where our foot is still a little bit in the pond right now Figuring out of you know, what's gonna happen? It's amazing because he didn't take reservations, you know He's more confident with the packer game than he is for this and there's supposed to be a lot more people on yet He's not sure he's gonna rent out spots. I think you know my big my big Just sitting back and watching is gonna be like our people I still think
There's gonna be, I still think the overwhelming majority of people are gonna be from within about 100 miles of Green Bay. I think the Wausau people, La Crosse, all these Madison, all these people that would drive up for a Packer game. I look at them as saying, you know what, we'll drive up there Thursday and spend the day and just drive back home, okay? But what I'm saying is, normally for a Packer game, you might get...
20,000 people doing that. I mean, I know it's a seventy eight thousand dollar thing But you know three people in a car two people, you know how many actual cars But what I'm saying is if you got like a hundred thousand people or fifty thousand coming in at the same time on Thursday That could be a heck of a traffic jam with the way things are intermingling now. Yeah, wouldn't you agree? Yeah, and I think the lockup crowd is going to be huge What I think people have to look at I think they will but when you if you come off 41
That's not a good idea. That's what I mean. How far back that could be because there's packer games when it's backed up to the prison. Well, and Lombardi's open. I mean, yeah, they have to really study this a little bit more. But yeah, I think the second day, like you said, it's going to be a lot easier. Right. I think people need a day to kind of get their bearings, see what's open, see what roads, see what whatever. But you know, really, if you're if you're looking at coming in and doing stuff at these different Sanctions, wouldn't be a bad idea today or tomorrow to do a dry run. Well, or come up Wednesday, there's a
The other fireworks, the music, go on. Get the lay of the land. It's hard seeing things on TV with their maps or even the paper on the internet or whatever with those. That doesn't quite do it. You kind of got to see it. And Kevin says he's got 1400 spots, which that sounds like a lot because that is a lot. But to call and reserve it, I would do that now, wouldn't you?
I would for just for peace of mind, right? Even though you don't if you said you need to but I would so up there personally though. I'm not going to be in an automobile behind the wheel within five miles of the whole thing. I'm gonna come that wussy old guy. I don't want to deal with all this. You know what I mean? I'm gonna go. Well, I know I'm gonna go there as much as possible. It's not gonna personally drive. Okay, so
But I wonder if Mark from Mark Houston, Bell and Sports Medicine were gonna be doing a thing at his place this week. I wonder if I could, I was just thinking is maybe, you know, they could get one of those like little scooter type things for me with my, cause I'm one of their patients with my Achilles tendonitis. If they could be able to transport me some, if there are special dispensations for their patients who have physical afflictions. I mean, that's why they're my, they're my health provider.
You know what I'm saying? No. You think for their own patients, they would do something. They might. No, I think they might. That is cool what they're doing though. I just want to put a plug for that place. You know, they're right there, right? Yeah. What do they call it? Sports medicine, the title tone? Yeah. And in their lobby, they have food trucks for the Boys and Girls Club, for... I don't know if they're going to be in their lobby, are they? I mean, parking lot. Parking lot, that meant they have...
they're gonna be there all three days and you can go there and get something to eat and then support the non-profit and go right into the game. So yeah, that's gonna be, that's a nice thing. Yeah, I think it's gonna be a great experience. And I, that Packer experience or not, I shouldn't say that. And I felt experience. That's gonna be cool. I'm not afraid of it. Some people are acting like, oh, I gotta get out of town. I mean, come on, it's embrace it for a few days. 250,000 people though. That's a lot of people. That's a lot of people. I mean, cause 80,000 is a lot. Yeah. Yeah.
But I will say this little Packer fans and I found that out at the Super Bowl as I covered they They even if they're not they don't you know like what I said for the packer for the Super Bowl They didn't have tickets But they would still show up for the parties and that's what this is, but I do think an element
that has been added to this, and I'm surprised they hadn't been singing this all along, but that the bowl will be open to go in and watch. I mean, there's lots of people that have never, you know, let's say scheduled a tour or whatever, have literally never been inside the bowl of Lambeau Field. And to go in there and to watch the draft, I would assume it's going to be on the big board and everything like that, and then just to be right out. I think that's cool. Yeah. Yes. So do I. I just, again, why only?
Not reservation hesitation is why aren't the hotels packed because You're not gonna wake up tomorrow and okay kids and pulling you out of school your high school kids, right? You would have made that decision. I agree medicine. I'm surprised So maybe they're gonna come up on Saturday, which is anything going on Saturday. Oh, yeah, but I still think it's I think it's a situation where I I still think there's gonna be a lot of day
People I think a lot and lot of people from the state of Wisconsin and the UP they could are going to be driving here And it's like we've driven to a million packer games and driven home. We do that again three o'clock We could be there exactly and one of the days and we're going to come for that That's that's just what I see I don't you know another thing without as Many of the potential first round draft picks being I mean it could be you know there could have been like 40
And I think right now it's only 16. And sometimes, you know, if you're the fan of a certain team and you're thinking you're gonna be drafting this guy, it's like, oh, well, Sanders isn't going to be there. That takes out some of the fun from that guy walking out, putting on your team's hat, getting that hug from Roger Goodell, you know, doing all those kinds of things. I think that takes away some of the luster. So what's more important? Seeing him or seeing Green Bay? I think seeing him. I think for a lot of fans, seeing him would be the draw. So then we're talking about this the other day, not you and I, but some friends of mine.
Is it going to come where he's going to have his own party in his own city? Yes. You're like political party. It just have it in the hotel and this is where you're going to be. And then this one's going to be in Seattle. And so it's going to be in Green Bay. And this whole 250,000 thing isn't going to be a thing anymore. Right. It's going to be their event. Right. That's a great point. Great question. And again, we're, you know. Because if that's the star of the show and not the venue. Well, for a lot of teams, I mean,
I guarantee if Sanders if shooter Sanders or Sanders was going to be here That would be a huge draw because chances are Dion Sanders would be here right and that whole thing and that say what you want But that still attracts that shining light that still attracts things or better or worse It's still an event right right and him not being here. I think is something But whatevs
We're going to have fun. I know that. Let's do it. Let's do it. But now I'm just ready. Let's just get it started now. You know, I'm ready. I'm ready. Let's just let's do it. Let's do it. All right. We guys have a quick break. We come back. Michael Pittman from Hide Music Earth Month. Free Restringing and Recycling coming up right after this.

In 1590 a.m.
45 degrees in Green Bay 46 Alton 51 in downtown Oshkosh in fact we saw shot Lisa Sunbathing on the roof.
Oh my gosh over the studio She'll be horrified on
the studio.
I saw that it must have been a drone
Going over
so we got that
we posted a forecast cloudy with showers high in the lower fifties We will take that had some great guests day and now we got another one Michael Pittman store manager hide music Legendary music story in Green Bay, but talk about earth month and free restricting and recycling something that I never
heard about before in regards to the restringing recycling.
Michael, good morning.
Thanks for coming down.
Good morning.
Thanks for having me.
One little
slight correction.
It's Green Bay, Appleton, Madison, and Oshkosh.
I mean, you guys are big time.
We have all those plus Steven's points.
And highmusic.com.
But this was your home
base where it started, wasn't it?
Appleton was the first location.
Oh, Appleton
was?
Yes.
Oh, OK.
I thought Green Bay was for some reason.
And it's pretty cool what you're doing.
I mean, this is...
Earth month and I guess there's a big Earth cleanup tomorrow.
And you wouldn't think music stores would have anything to offer Earth month, but holy crap.
We go through the strings.
Go ahead.
Tell us what you're doing.
Yeah.
So we have our partnership with the Dario and TerraCycle for our restring events.
We do have restring events all throughout our 41 corridor for Green Bay.
We have ours on Wednesday and Saturday.
Appleton has theirs on Friday.
Oshkosh has a couple of days as well for Thursday and Saturday.
That is where you can bring in your guitars, your six string acoustic electric.
We will
the strings and recycle those strings for you in partnership with TerraCycle where they instead of throwing all the strings in a landfill where we're talking for every one of the world over a million pounds of material we can melt down the metals we can recycle that nylon and use it for better purposes rather than just thrown away.
So recycle the metal and the nylon.
Correct.
Yep.
How do you separate them?
So that is what Terra cycle does they do a lot of different recycling as well beyond just strings And this is an international group that does this so they will take down the strings They will separate all the metals in the nylon They will smelt down the metal and they will recycle the nylon into industrial plastic applications Wow, so this is for guitars So these ladies correct so the restring event that we're doing is is for ours, but they will recycle all orchestral strings really
Yep, they will recycle all those strings.
Well, that's
not inexpensive.
Restringing this, that's not cheap to restring a
violin.
Oh, correct.
Yeah.
I mean, it's it's not it's not low cost, but it is something that's important to keep the player and the best quality instrument.
So is the nylon inside the metal?
So, depending on different strings, there are nylon strings that are used for classical guitars.
There are different coatings, different steel strings, steel core strings, all those materials.
Don't some violins use like hair?
Some
kind of
hair?
That's
the bow.
Oh, is that what it is?
Yeah, it's like horse hair, right?
Yes
horse hair on the bow if you're thinking of really old strings like the sixteen hundred seventeen hundred for Baroque players.
They're using cat gut.
That's what I was thinking.
Yeah, sure
it was This
isn't that old but this is like is this new
The original stratospheres
I bet we're cat gut, huh?
Oh for the Strativarius.
Yeah
Those would have been cat got kind of instruments.
There you go.
A lot of the oldest ones.
Thank you for backing
me up, Michael
Pittman.
Yeah,
out in the stratosphere.
But we have been doing these restring events actually for a few years in partnership to Dario.
This is
cool.
But do people, so their strings may or may not, their instrument may or may not need to be restrung?
It depends.
There's a whole variety of factors, how you store your instrument, how often you're playing.
These can all make a big difference.
Some guitar players are taking years to change their strings.
Some are changing over a few months.
It just depends on how much you're gigging, what kind of playing you do.
What
happened?
Do they
just lose
their tautness?
Tautness?
So they kind of, they'll lose that shimmer.
They'll be harder to tune.
They won't sound full.
Yeah.
And for different styles of playing, you'll want different strings.
Like a heavy metal guy is going to do something way different than a jazz player.
Okay.
Tell me the cost
you bring in my banjo.
Do you
have a
banjo?
I do.
Wow.
I
told you, I once saw Earl Scruggs.
Oh.
And I just, that guy's unbelievable.
I mean, I love music anyway, but he was like, I want, from your place, I went and bought a banjo.
Oh, right on.
I did.
That was like 30 years ago.
I played it twice, but it's
very nice.
Well, we offer banjo lessons as well.
I know.
I took lessons.
Anyway, I do have a, but you go in and do you do that?
What's the cost?
Cause that's not an inexpensive instrument.
Well, if we're talking restring, then we're talking about, uh, for classical around $30 for the actual restring, that's not the cost of strings.
If it needs more work, we can definitely do that.
We have a guitar luthier based in Green Bay that can do everything from restrings all the way to fret replacements and rebuilds of guitars.
Wait a minute, what did you say the name was?
Say that again?
You have a what?
A luthier.
A luthier?
What is a luthier?
This
is a word I've never said before
in my
life.
Oh, good.
Yeah, so there are orchestral luthiers, which we have in the company that work on violin-like instruments.
There are also guitar luthiers that work on guitar string instruments, a fretted instrument.
So banjos, ukuleles, mandolins.
Did you know this?
A luthier.
Yes.
Wow.
Word of the day.
There it is.
That's very
good.
You could go to school and become a luthier, John.
I think I
might.
It's not too late, right?
I think I might.
It's
never too
late.
Hey, what year?
I mean, we're going to switch over a tackle bit more at that in a minute, but...
But for young kids that think they've got, or you think your kid might have some talent or an interest, what do you, if somebody walked into the store, what would you recommend?
Well, lessons.
I mean, it's not just to, you know.
Cause I mean, that's, let's be honest, every kid's probably gotten, or so many gotten a guitar for Christmas or their birthday, but no lessons.
Or maybe that book, you'd have a book to try to follow or something.
And that I would think is kind of discouraging after all.
Would you say if you're going to buy somebody,
an instrument for the first time, you would automatically get lessons
with it.
I think lessons are great.
Now, I'm not a guitar player by trade.
I do a little bit of guitar.
I start on clarinet in fifth grade, but I didn't take lessons until I was in 10th grade.
And I wish I had lessons growing up before that.
That would have helped a lot of the basic foundations, all the fundamental kind of stuff.
But if you can watch a kid, if you have some instruments around the house, piano, guitar, ukulele, if they take an interest in it.
That's a pretty good sign that you should pursue that.
Oh, it definitely is.
Yeah.
If there's any knack of just that musical talent in there, let's encourage this.
Why not?
It's just like a kid playing baseball out in the street.
You know, let's get him playing.
Right.
Yeah.
Because lessons are not inexpensive.
No, they're not.
They're typically around $20 to $30 half an hour.
Right.
That's that horrific though.
It's a bucky minute.
You
know.
But let me ask you, Mike, as far as with what you're doing with the restringing, what do people do with, I mean, do they ever die?
old instruments, can you use an instrument, if you fine tune it, bring it to somebody, can an instrument literally last forever?
You know what I'm saying?
There are lifespans, but there's also some of those older instruments, like we say the Strativarius or
the
Steinway pianos that can be rebuilt.
Now the question is, is it cost effective to rebuild?
And some instruments will be, some are just not, and it's time to retire that instrument.
Okay, because I was at...
old place one time and it was an old bar type thing and part of their decor was you know instrument like saxophones and all these and the guy said clear out whatever you can clear out get rid of it take away and I kept them thinking there's gonna be some value in those but there really wasn't huh
correct because sometimes it needs a thousand dollars worth of work and it's not okay worth it to put in an instrument so I see people that put in a garden art people that use decorations in their home okay
and same old truth with pianos everybody thinks their pianos worth a lot but you see
Sometimes they're free, you know, free for the taking, you know what I mean?
But then again, there's some pianos that, you know, are worth a lot.
So I guess
somebody
like you to
take a look at it.
Can we pull back the curtain on one thing real estate-wise that we've learned being in real estate?
If somebody says, okay, we will leave the piano for $1,500.
99.9% of the buyers are gonna say, we don't want the piano, take it.
And the people that said they wanted it $1,500 will say, can we just leave it?
So don't offer them their first price is what
I'm saying, because nobody
wants to move a piano,
and nobody wants to move a
pool table, and nobody wants to move those big roll top desks.
Correct, correct.
So we often say a free piano can sometimes be the most expensive piano, because the moving costs, the tuning costs, sometimes they're just not worth it for tuning.
What tell me about just instruments in general, right?
We've talked we've gone through a lot of them from the saxophone to the ukulele Violet worth Michael Pittman hide music.
What is there's something that's like the rage right now that
Kids are stopping in
the
6th grade.
What are kids picking up?
Oh, I think guitar is always the cool one for a lot of kids.
Like I said, I'm a clarinet.
I'm bassoon players, actually my main stuff.
But so it's not exactly the most cool.
I
was going to say,
I don't know.
No disrespect, Michael.
No disrespect.
But you're 16
and you're walking down the hallway and you're carrying a guitar with a bunch of bumper stickers on it, hard rock, so and so.
And you're walking on the hallway with that or you're carrying your Sassoon.
I'm just asking, in general, the ladies, the hot 16-year-old girls, which one do
they... Do they go, hi, Michael?
Or... A little worried about you, Michael.
Well, Bassoon worked for me, but... Hey, hey, Bassoon worked for me.
Let me tell you.
Not a lot of
competition, which
is probably good.
I was
lead,
Bassoon.
First
chair,
only chair, but first chair.
Absolutely, one chair.
Nothing wrong with that.
You don't have to say how many there are.
Absolutely.
So, but there are...
Cool instruments right when kids start.
Oh, yeah, I mean and you you see all over the spectrum from from younger little kids taking piano violin through Adults and retirees.
I see retirees that do ukulele and community centers and things like that.
Keep them playing.
We
know we still think and we've talked about this before one of the coolest Band groupings you can have is a drum line these days.
You bring a drum line to an event and you've got a cool event.
Yeah, well, you think a tundra line That's
what I
mean.
That was cool.
Oh, definitely.
Yeah, we've uh
Event tomorrow to kind of kick off the draft.
Yep, and we're bringing in the ashram and drum line just because they said well, we can bring our pep band It's like mmm pep bands are cool.
I was in pep band, but can we just have the drum line let the other kids at home?
And
they they're a little
I know, pep band are great, but they like to entertain just a little bit more, right?
Don't you think those guys like to
flip?
Oh, I agree.
They know how to work the crowd.
Absolutely.
Do they ever?
Were you ever in bands, Michael?
So I've been in a myriad of things, jazz bands, concert bands, symphonies, marching bands.
I've been to high school.
I actually am from Washington State, so I went to Central Kitsap High School in Washington State.
Okay.
Yes.
Cool.
That's a funny story long story for another time, but my wife's parents who retired back in Green Bay back over here.
Oh, that's cool.
Yep.
So obviously what could hide you teach?
I used to teach I took I've taken a pause with a two-year-old at home that keeps me pretty active.
Oh, yeah, I bet what instrument would you want that two-year-old to pick up first?
Oh, my wife would say French horn is a French horn player, but I would say probably bassoon.
Okay.
All
right you guys
Don't pick the mainstream instruments, do you?
Not
exactly.
Less
competition,
I guess.
Do
you want some in the first chair?
Wow.
All right, got to this thing here.
I heard string players... Boil.
Boil?
They're strings?
Is that a good idea?
Bad idea, Todd, from Deep Here.
Boil they're strings.
I mean, it couldn't slightly extend the life.
It's not something that I would recommend too much.
Had you heard of that?
I have never heard of that one.
I think so doesn't it?
But you would think it's gonna corrode them a little faster because the steel on a lot of strings Yeah, that's my initial thought
Todd we have he has no idea what you're talking about.
In fact, Todd.
He thinks you're an idiot.
Oh,
I
didn't say that sounds more like an old wives tale kind of he was like, yeah When they
restrain these things you they melt
this
The strings down yep, they're gonna melt down the steel for other purposes because steel core on a lot of that at steel stainless steel I won't say stainless steel.
I don't know 100% though.
All right,
cool
Give yourself
a plug again Michael what you guys got going at hide music at all your locations for this month
Yeah, so we've got all our locations.
Again, Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Madison, Stevens Point, hidemusic.com.
It's International Guitar Month.
We've got restring events this week.
We're always doing rentals, lessons.
We're big in education.
So lots of stuff going on.
Is anybody ever too old to start playing an instrument?
Oh, never.
True.
Never.
We have people at our Oshkosh Community Center that's huge for the ukulele program.
People all over.
Okay,
I thought Jim was joking last week.
We're talking about this big ukulele fest thing.
Well, you gotta admit with that that big guy from Hawaii.
Oh, yep.
Everybody picked up a ukulele.
That's true.
I mean, it did everybody did I mean, because especially if you had kids,
right?
Yeah, you know, I think about when you talk about that Ezra to aolo.
Yeah, do you remember?
Okay.
He played for the Packers He was a high draft pick defensive lineman from Oregon State.
Great voice originally Samoan, I believe
And he could play the ukulele like you've never seen or heard before and sing with it.
And it's like, you know, you think of tiptoe through a tulip, but this guy could play phenomenal songs in his ukulele.
That thing can make some magic happen, can't it?
Oh, it can.
Yeah.
And your people are all into that.
Yeah.
At your home or wherever.
And that's not it.
Less than a hundred bucks you can buy a ukulele.
Oh, yeah, and you think for the casual player you learn three four chords That opens up your world to so much that's that's all somewhere
over the rainbow is well.
This is Earl Scruggs, but I mean it's just ukulele's a lot easier.
I could see him in his cowboy boots the other day At cowboy hat doing this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This is what I wanted to
do This will never happen
Michael Pittman store manager high music earth month free restricting and recycling
interesting stuff.
Madison Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh.
Steven's Point and Stevan's Point.
TideMusic.com.
All right.
Nicely done.
This was fun, Michael.
This was fun.
Thanks for having me.
Thanks very much for being here.
Quick break.
Back after us.
If I have this song in my mind now all day for two days, Todd, why did you do this to me? Why did you do this? Why did you do this, Todd? Well, because he mentioned Tiptoe through the tulips.
I saw, I totally saw Tiny Tim, the airport. So, we're dude. Wow. Wow. Okay. Interesting guy, honestly. Very interesting. That was a lot of fun. Michael. High music does so much with students in her communities. Yes. So big thanks to Michael for coming in this morning. And get one of the odds of this, Todd. So we were talking about his wife's family's from Green Bay. He's from the state of Washington. Yeah. And then they moved back here to be closer to her family. Jim and I.
We're very likely, and I know Jim definitely was, I probably was, at the dedication of their grandfather's park that was named after them in Green Bay. Wow. Brisk park. Because I said, we dedicated a motorcycle. He goes, yeah. So yeah. Anyway, that was a while ago, probably 20 years ago, or 15 years ago. It is small. Why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? Because I could picture Jim playing the song to his kids. So could I. No question I can. I can see that. So how many instruments do you still have then?
At home. Yeah. Oh Quite a few, you know, do you guys ever jam upstairs in your little concert hall? I don't know that we're at my sister's for all her kids play and they they can jam two of my sisters do that and they actually it's I mean, I'll be honest with you. It's that room you got on your sixth level With the hardwood floors and the third ceilings like that. That's a good Yeah, and I realized that when I was singing along with the mish cut
You're that blue Christmas and they're like looking like I didn't know it carry that well. Yeah, no, it's fun to have instruments around the house, right? This guy this is awesome on this I can play It's really hard to say his first name is real
And his last name goes out, it's a white name, but he. Yeah. I wonder what ever happened to Ezra Tuaola. He's around, is he? Yeah. Does he still come around once in a while? Yeah, we tried to get him on the show. Did we? Yeah. Oh, okay. This is a great song. Is this him?
Yes. All right. All right. Very nice. That's Jim. I used to watch, I used to watch Don. I used to watch Don Ho's show. Yeah. Oh yeah. About 19 when I was in college and you're up at 10 in the morning. Right. Don Ho on the beaches. Remember that? Oh yeah. Yeah. Everybody does. He was a little something, wasn't he? He like flirted a little too much. Like uncomfortable flirting. Yeah. I
Yeah, okay. I think I know something about their way back in the day There was a big romance with Hawaii. Don't you think Elvis did is on and on It was still somewhat new What was the other one there was a surfing Movie where their private eyes was it private eye, but they're based in Honolulu. They're based in Hawaii. Oh Somebody help me out on that one. I just know five all but I'd be it was before five. This would be like
early to mid-60s. 5-0 probably started in like 68. We're pretty young then. Oh man, somebody help me out. What was the cop show based before Hawaii 5-0 based in Hawaii? Famous show. I'll think of it. I'll think of it. I'll think of it. You know where I was at one time in Hawaii was that where the famous scene
and you would know this your movie buff were the famous scene in from here to eternity where Bert Lancaster and what's your name got it on on the beach you know what I mean Todd I don't know just big name big name actress but anyway they actually too we're on the tour type you know with all the people and there's this it was just this tiny little spot like the size of this room it's and you thought they were on this big unbelievable beach it was literally the size of this room or that whole thing was shot
Yeah. Yes. All right. That is beautiful out there. And that still is the place. Are people really letting us down? Really let us down, people. I just want you to know, just pointing start to the week from you. I'm trying to weave some things here. Of course, Magnum PI was based. Magnum PI, another one. I want to say this was even earlier, though, in the early 60s. And then what was the name? Well, Bert Lancaster, I can't remember the woman's name, but that was from Here to Eternity, which is an amazing movie, phenomenal movie. Don't you think?
I mean, Ernest Borgnein was phenomenal in that movie. Frank Sinatra was phenomenal in that movie. Perkins was it Marlon? Not Marlon Perkins. The Perkins guy. Was it Perkins? No, he wasn't the same guy from Psycho, was it? They played the main character. Anthony? Anthony Perk. Yeah, that was him, right? I don't know. Was that him? No? All right. I don't know. Huh?
But anyway, great lion today, Brittney Merleau, Civic Media Meteorologist, Dean Bruce, Lindy Sports Magazine, The Draft Guru, 2025 Draft Edition, Andrew Zimdar's GPS Education Partners, look him up, that's really, really interesting and vital information. Interesting stuff. Yes. Are you gonna have anybody look at your hand and I'm not even kidding and I probably should I know I should go on yesterday, but I had a work last night So what do you think that might have been some kind of religious thing where it's like being on Easter and they've had those people I think in South America where they wake up on Easter and they got those Spike wounds in their hands and then the pope Oh, I think you're you got a calling now. Yeah, that might be a sign
I'll get it looked at. So anyway, I think you should throw your hat in the ring for Pope. Hey, I'm just throwing it out there. I don't know. It's not I'm under 80 so I could We'll get you a t-shirt that says kiss my ring That's gonna be interesting 20 days they start making light of the pope It's just pretty amazing that yesterday was on the balcony. I know with weaving and people are talking. It's almost a miracle. Yeah. Oh, here we go
National ukulele day So tomorrow it's gonna be a fun week John there's a lot of things going on and it's a lot of things it is It is people are listening to us.
