Well, because everyone has normal jobs and I have, I don't know, I'm by that now, all
the sudden, if you have bad for asking the question.
No, I'm a full time business owner.
I'm a photographer and musician and that's how I make my money.
So I set my own hours and that's why I'm here at 836 and they're at an office job.
Well, that's kind of, they said thanks for getting up early, you go, I can mop it,
six or five or whatever you said.

How are you feeling like the music?
I think things are really going good in the music scene, especially in Green Bay.
I feel like it's making it come back after, you know, 10, 15 years of junk for a while.
It's really starting to make it come back, and especially after COVID, now things are
really picking up.
Right.
You know, he was mayor for 16, I know, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
I get that back.
You're a mayor for 16 of those 15 years.
Yeah.

Took a year off.

But I just think I think the city has done a good job.

What a unique clientele, because one of my buddies always wanted me to go there and

It was not the right place at the right time.

I think now if we were to change it, that might be an okay question to change the operator

I mean, I got, you know, I got to give you a lot of credit too, because I used to be
in bands a long time ago too, and before this, this area, this, this, it was a scary place
to be at, at night, you know, I mean, the, the bikers that used to hang out down here,
they weren't the yuppie type bikers.
No, they were, they were, uh, everything about the area is fantastic.
From lighting to, I mean, it's just a more and a fire in, uh, inviting, in the fighting.

That was done.
That's happening all over.
And that's done to bring talent to bring the creative class to your community.
And you need that.
I mean, people aren't, like you said, about the bikers, these don't, these weren't the
dentists and doctors riding these bikes.
You know, I've got blessed them, but we need people to spend a little bit more money and
a little bit more.
Well, you cleaned up, you cleaned up this side.
You cleaned up Broadway.
I mean, people forget it used to be not that good of an area.
It's really cleaned up.
And, you know, I've lived here my whole life, but even when I was a kid, I remember going
down both sides with my brother and it was like, eh, maybe we shouldn't be here right
now.

And thanks for saying that, but there's some, I've done quite a bit of traveling.
There's some unbelievable, uh, in this country, right?
You go to Baltimore at Lan, it's like, oh my God, how did you, this is awesome.
Well, I was, okay, I moved here from Flint, Michigan in 1984.
I drank the water and yeah, I know that's maybe why I'm like this.
And, but I hadn't been in Green Bay since 1974.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
And it came out, oh my God, we're getting on a flint, thank goodness, or the highest murder
rate in the country.
It was tough, tough, tough, tough and we, yeah, it was terrible, it was terrible, it was
a factory's closed out.
It's unbelievable.
And I said, hey, let's go, you know, let's go to, we're going to Green Bay and let's
just get a house right around downtown.
And we're riding through these areas and I told my wife at the time, said, oh, this
isn't the Green Bay, I remember this has gotten scary and it was, that was a bad 10-year
span, wasn't it, Jim?
It was.
There was some hard times.
Yeah.
I just, in other mayors out there listening, you have to invest in those and just doesn't
happen.
I, my kids say, oh, this is a great city.
I'm like, you guys, that just doesn't happen.
It takes, it takes leadership and it takes a lot of people and it takes the private
sector and some government money to make it that transition.
I'm glad we did that.
And I'm glad you're part of it now.

So my, my main elements spell out beat like BET, right, which is bands, events, active
and travel.
So that's kind of like the sectors that I like to work in because it's, it's fun.
