a former Milwaukee radio executive who was charged with that crime.
Somebody well known in the community, the city of Milwaukee as well.

Because one thing was required of others that now I'm finding out is not required for some.

But Shannon, what do you look for in a political leader?
I feel like people just kind of, like, it almost seems like they...
get in front of you, they promise all these things they think you wanna hear about with no actual plan.
So I like to hear plans.
I think we also all like to hear like what the track record is, right?
Like, okay, what have you done before?
When you promised all these things the first time, what have you done to make it happen?
Or, you know, like what was the plan?
I think hearing them talk about things that matter to us and our community.
that matters even if we are a small percent.
We also like to know that we're not an afterthought, right?
I think even having people that aren't afraid to come out in our communities, right?
Get these that want to represent us, but they're not even active in our communities.
Like, I want to see them engage with us and actually figure out what our needs are, what we want.
So that's what I look for in a political candidate.
And I would assume most people want the same thing.
I know one person can be everywhere at once, but you can't.
You could think about, you could think about the small people.
Something um I I Want to find out do voters actually reward a long resume and like a legislative track record or Does like or do we want?
character charisma and you know I don't know I'm trying to I'm trying to get down to to what is it people want now because I feel like I've been seeing two different things and hearing two different things right because very early in this race there was this narrative you know where
And this is when Mandela was still in the race prior to Crowley Stepping down and getting back into the race because he was lied to or whatever and you know, it was and I've definitely been very critical of Mandela Just asking what has he done right but it has also been asked of
by David Crowley, like he hasn't done nothing.
What is it that he's done?
I've had Xavier ask me, you know, that's the producer from Sherwin's show in the morning show, what has Crowley done?
And I answer it, right?
And I give, and then when I asked him about what, you know, his candidate was gonna do, he,
Talked about a lot of things that she was going to propose to do and I took that as like oh, she got these things done, you know, so I like okay She got some work on her bill, but in the next segment We're gonna we still on what we look for in a political leader, but in the next segment we're gonna break down the work that was has actually been done so

I'm feeling good.
It's too early to have a

What I'm looking for, I'm looking for a bite.
I'm looking for a fire.
I want somebody to sit here and say, this is what I'm going to do.
I'm looking for a leader who's going to cause them out on the wrong doings.
We don't need nobody to drag, they're 50.
We need somebody to say, this is how I can lead you.
See, what happens is that black people have got too comfortable and we're getting the duty in at the stick.
Even though they don't care about our vote, our vote is very powerful.
But here's the thing, black people don't recognize their strength and their power.
And so that's why they treat our black folks the way they do.
Because if black people have recognized their strengths and their power, they could be running and they'll walk to you right now.
You hear me?
Their vote, their vote can be a bigger weapon.
I ain't talking about the kind of weapon when the cousin called CBS and tried to hit your kids took it away.
I'm talking about the black folk can be a powerful weapon.
but it's going to take black voter to say this is what I want.
Don't tell me what I want to hear.
Tell me what I need to know.
And that's what black people need to do.
We have become too comfortable.
And because we're comfortable, that's why nobody really don't care about our folks.
Like all the men there get up on and say, F you in Word B, I deal with you when I deal with you.
Let me ask you this before you go, Al.
Appreciate all of that that you shared.
I think track record matter to a degree But you can make a new track record if you get the right people behind you
about this They ain't it wonder when you was in school.
They wasn't really worried
About the mother they was worried about the father come hear me or the father who never showed They know when mama come and she's gonna be about that business and that boy No, he's gonna have him to pay when he get home We as black people got to share them We got to change the narrative and we got to start voting for skin color and we got to stop being so damn personal with each other because we get so personal over over Bull sugar, honey ice tea.

But we starting off with a conversation, Shannon, involving former Milwaukee radio executive, Chargedi.
Jordan Lee.
Just to give him some context, right?
Jordan Lee, 44 years old, longtime fixture in Milwaukee Radio, 88-9 is where he was employed at, just so nobody's confused there.
And for
Mac
He was charged Tuesday, August 4th.
with first degree sexual assault of a child.
I know that was already like a lot to see when it came across because I saw the article last night and I'm like, man, I wonder who was this person?
You know?
Then
once
No way.
Not saying no way as if I don't think it's true, but it's like what the hell is going on, right?
So just going a little further Says according to the criminal complaint the case centers on an email Shannon that Lee sent to his therapist to a therapist in which he described the history of
of abuse involving his family over roughly like the past 10 years.

An email over the past 10 years.
So.
says Lee's employment at Radio Milwaukee ended on July 23rd.
I'm going to assume that's probably when things started to hit the fan, publicly maybe.
The station said in a statement, it is sad and hurting for the victims and praying for their eventual healing.
So as you're listening,
to us talk about this.
To my knowledge, there has been no arrests just yet.
I felt like I saw another article got sent today where it looked like it could have been, looked mugshot-ish, so maybe that has been updated.
But as we were prepping for the show, there had not been no arrests yet.
So the case is proceeding through the fourth go-head show.
You said what?
No, I feel like it's all happening like really quickly dates are coming in from different sources because like We talked earlier like when I saw the article like it didn't really say who it was or who sent what email like it was very vague and then like I'm sorry, I was waiting for the
audio to catch up.
or coming out as the cases proceeding through the courts.
Charges was filed by Milwaukee County's district attorney.
This just, man, it reminds me of the show we had.
Remember when we were talking about people in the community, and I really want to be
I gotta walk this delicately because it's kids involved, you know?

And I don't know, like to me, like you said, I try to tread lightly and try to talk with restraint when we talk about stuff like this, right?
Because there are victims involved that are children or that could be listening because this is
Local right you know But to me somebody like that a lot of times like I don't think they feel remorse I don't think they're like oh, I did this and I feel bad like I think they just look for audience and they like the reaction of other people because for him to send this email and then He described it as well it happened when I was dream and then I just continued it on like what it's just
I don't know.
You know how I feel about the predators out here.
My feelings are very strong on them not being rehabilitated.
I think laws are way too lenient on these people.
The fact that the news hit the outlets and he wasn't even in jail at the time is crazy.
That should be treated like a murder charge.
Pick these people up.
Clean up our streets.
But, you know, I'm gonna stop before I say no too much,
This is crazy to me cuz I interned at 88 9 when I was in high school and so the fact that this is just come like this is insane I can't believe I actually can't believe what I'm reading not to mention that this is one of my classmates fathers like this is insane I gotta turn off the mic man
Actually, it was probably one of the largest, if not the biggest beat battle that the city had for producers.
That was something he was putting on.
And like Lowkey, he was, when we did some consulting with the Bucks, and one of the ideas that came out of it was the Milwaukee Mondays, where they were,
Showcase homegrown talent and let folks perform at halftime and you know When they transitioned to Pfizer forum, you know, that was something that ended up Be being a partnership with 88 nine and he was the host of that He was the host of the Milwaukee Mondays that introduced the artists and talked about what it was and
I get with somebody that had a lot of.
Reach, connection, you know.
I would like to say some sort of influence in a certain sector of Milwaukee, too.
You know what I'm saying

And I don't know, I'm just very interested in.
Hot like what?
Like it had to be so the voices had to be so loud the guilt had to be so Strong that it was just so unbearable.
It's like I'm just gonna send an email Then like how it was described like oh, you know And I don't want to go into details of what he said he did or because I don't like
or how he, you know what I mean?
But saying things like, please check me if I'm misrepresenting what was said, Shannon.
But it was almost of the nature of, you know, I was intoxicated, drunk or unconscious.
But then still said, but I continued to do it sometimes when I wasn't sure.
Basically looking for people to sympathize, I think the word is like, oh, well, I would never do it just under any circumstances.
But I did it when like, what?
I don't know.
It's just a lot of people that are sick out here.
And I think a lot of times they do hold
A lot of abusers hold positions of power or positions where a lot of people would never think that they could do such a thing because I think it also gives them That backing for people to be like oh, I know this person like this person's in the community This person does all these things like a lot of times I feel like abusers thrive in that type of environment because they know why I have such a good reputation I'm sorry.
I have such a good reputation out here that
People wouldn't think it's me that's doing this type of stuff.
Yeah, I don't I feel bad for the Abused I feel bad for his victims and then for this to come out in such a public way, right?
It's just unfortunate I mean, I'm happy that he admitted to what he had done because it would have been
Never been revealed probably because some people are so ashamed of like what happened to them They probably never come out and say it.
You know what I'm saying or they feel like well, this is a public figure.
Nobody will believe me So I'm happy he admitted to it and probably saved generations of victims But it's just unfortunate that it's happened and it continues to happen in our communities some
What do you look for in a political leader?
We want to know, does resume matter?
Does track record matter?
Does, you know, is it charisma?
Is it is.
you know, somebody that will say, I'll say he wants somebody that, you know, tell him what they gonna do.
And, and I think, um, I think we know Al enough that.
And I guess I'm guessing and call back and check me if I'm misquoting you out.
He ain't just talking about somebody that just tell me what you gonna do.
He's like, all right.
have a plan for me and I'm expecting you to execute on said plan.
If I'm miscategorizing you, please call in.
I don't want to assume in any way, but I think that's where I was going with it, right?
But I do think there is a
huge sector of our community who just lean on people telling them what they are going to do for our community.
And I think that's why there we go.
And I think that's why we get a lot of the situations that we have now because we allow too many people to just tell us
What they gonna do with no real plan and it don't even be plans that include us to be honest with you just say you know the the very whimsical Things to say and it sounds amazing But what is the real what it like you gonna have to lay out a pathway to success right and I just don't be seeing that So I want to
And I'm saying this because, right, I remember in the beginning of this, like I said, people was telling me all, Crowley ain't did this, he ain't did that.
He ain't did this, he ain't did that.
I'm like, that's not true.
Y'all remember how much I was on here having to defend people that was just saying, like, it wasn't facts.
And then I'd have to highlight the facts and be like, okay, cool.
And then,
I didn't dig deep enough into, like, why is this goal post keep moving?
Like, okay, why, like, even in politics, black people have to work a hundred times harder to prove to the world other voters that this person is the person for the job.
And I proved my point yesterday when I was having a conversation with somebody, Shannon.
And they...
They call me like, man, I just need to know a little more to be transparent.
It was a white person.
And, you know, white people call me and ask me about voting and things to not just about, can I say bye with their wedding?
You know?
So
They think people are just getting behind this person because they are black.
I think a lot of people.
do think that they're like, oh, people just looking for him because you black or the black people are supporting him because he's black.
And that's it.
That's what comes from the other side.
And then from ourselves, we also think like, well, maybe he just ain't as good because he's black.
That's what I get from it all.
And I think in politics in general, what we've seen a lot lately, especially with this administration,
People are just going for whoever's loudest, whoever's saying the things you just want to hear, like no matter how untrue it is.
If they're saying the right things and if they're entertaining, you can get a vote.
And like you asked if resume matters or do the promises matter.
And it almost feels more like people are taking things for like, is it called face value when you just look
at it and you're
It's got to be right.
You
You would think people want to see the resume.
You would think people want to see the track record.
You want you would think they want to see these people actually in the communities and doing the things or trying to do the things that they said they want to do.
And you know, but
back and
Add that to it, I guess.
But I was doing a deep dive on, OK, let's get into record there.
Everybody is questioning me on Crowley's record.
And then I pulled up Francesca's hall legislative record.
Had 248 plus bills.
She's been in, she's been in our office for about five and a half, six years in the assembly.
Have been signed into law only one I Want y'all to sit with that for a second We making the black man work so much harder to prove like what has he done But we'll get back into it when we come back Shannon don't go anywhere y'all This is the award-winning lunch break on one on one seven the truth

What are you looking for in a leader?
Does track record matter?
Are they getting things done on your behalf?
Shannon, what I look for in a leader is somebody who will take the needs that I am passionate about and go fight and win on my behalf.
Are we going to win every battle?
No.
But if we lose in all of them, then I might need to find somebody else to fight on my behalf.
And I bring that up because once again, I want to set the stage here.
It was a lot of talk about what Crowley hadn't done.
You know so Let's look into What folks are saying Francesca did so like I said 248 plus Bill she's sponsored co-sponsored or whatever Only one in six years Only one in six years, so let's do this because I know people are going to say
This is this is this is how I get irritated, right?
Because people start saying, oh, it was a Republican controlled house.
And, you know, that's not fair to just look at that and say this because, you know, Republicans both controlled, controlled both the chambers.
And I had to go look at those numbers, too, Shannon, you know, we know.
You know we nosy Shannon Just doing your due diligence We'd be we'd be digging so I want to be clear her own campaign Lists one bill.
She authored that was actually signed into law.
I'm not just making this up This is from her own campaign and it was a AAPI history education requirement which passed with bipartisan support 30 a supporters including 12 Republicans so she got 12 Republicans to
work with her on that bill.
And if I'm not mistaken, that bill was surrounding like among education, which is cool.
That's just
That's the one bill in six years.
One bill in six years, right?
But nobody had nobody brought it like yo, you haven't done anything You ain't have you haven't got nothing done in six years you've been losing a lot of fights for your people and I'm supposed to trust That this same person who cannot get anything through an assembly which she is currently a part of and nobody rocking with her policies now
I am supposed to believe that because educate me if I'm looking at it the wrong way, please.
I am never above being corrected when I'm wrong.
But my common sense is telling me if in six years you were only able to get one piece of legislation pass.
In six years, this is the legislative body that you are currently a part of.
They not rocket with you now.
I'm supposed to trust that now as governor, they're gonna be like, all right, she governor now.
I'm just gonna do it.
No.
I refuse to believe that.
I refuse to believe it.
It's not happening now.
So I'm looking at everybody talking about what Crowley isn't doing, what he hasn't gotten done, and he has gotten.
So let's talk about this real quick, right?
In that assembly, it was 54 Republicans.
It was 54 Republicans to whatever less amount of Democrats.
So yes.
Yes, it's hard to get things done when the numbers are stacked against you.
And this is why I get upset because people just start speaking on things and have no real point of contact or they don't even read your whole passage, your whole message right away.
They just skim the first line and insult you.
Call you a shut the hell up, Kunas B. But guess who also worked in the assembly?
David Crowley.
In 2017, David Crowley worked in said same assembly with 64 Republicans when she had 54.
So 10 more Republicans.
A way more difficult terrain to navigate.
And he was only there three years.
And in that three years, he got four times the work done.
So my point exactly is.
Black people have to work four times as hard in half the time to even show that, man.
What are we talking about here?
I get considered, right?
What are we talking about here?
But I'm just supposed to believe that all these amazing things That she's saying she's going to do is going to happen now.
No, I'm going with the person who's actually gotten things done Not somebody who's been fighting with an assembly for six years and only got one bill through
Zack if you if you only showed up and produced one show a year You still be here me.
Yeah, cuz I'm me, but that's a different story Because I'm gonna
And that's
we'd
killed.
That's why we'd be
let us show

We didn't get to say our names to the new crew.
It was like, nah, I don't like this.
Don't get too comfortable now.
But I'm supposed to give a raise to somebody who's only gotten one bill pass in six years.
And then I'm supposed to just listen to these hypocrites.
Tell me that, oh, is the Republican like, no, Crowley had the exact same terrain, even more difficult to navigate.
And he did four times the work in half the time
it was like, oh
I like that's pretty bad They only did one got one built through like how is she gonna get something through when she's covered exactly But you know what that person told me Shannon I think I still need to see a little more
I just gotta do a little.
So at that point, I was like, you know what?
I don't think there's nothing that, nothing else that I could say or simplify it enough.
But the other thing too is and I want to be clear, this person didn't say like their mind was made up.
They were very undecided.
So, I'm like, okay, here's my case.
And I didn't, I just said, hey, look at the resume, look at the work actually done.
That's it.
Like, I'm not telling you, oh, do this because that's my homie or whatever.
Like, what do you feel?
Look at what has been accomplished.
And then make your own decision because I, it's nothing else I could say about it.
Like you can't if David Crowley had only gotten one bill passed.
And got county executive and did absolutely nothing as county executive.
Could you imagine?
I got people still don't even realize the difference between city government and county government.
Telling me he ain't did nothing for the city like well cuz you over the county So I had to turn my comments off Shannon

And right now is she is not getting anything through the assembly.

It was a lot of talk about what Crowley hadn't done.
You know so Let's look into What folks are saying Francesca did so like I said 248 plus Bill she's sponsored co-sponsored or whatever Only one in six years Only one in six years, so let's do this because I know people are going to say
This is this is this is how I get irritated, right?
Because people start saying, oh, it was a Republican controlled house.
And, you know, that's not fair to just look at that and say this because, you know, Republicans both controlled, controlled both the chambers.
And I had to go look at those numbers, too, Shannon, you know, we know.
You know we nosy Shannon Just doing your due diligence We'd be we'd be digging so I want to be clear her own campaign Lists one bill.
She authored that was actually signed into law.
I'm not just making this up This is from her own campaign and it was a AAPI history education requirement which passed with bipartisan support 30 a supporters including 12 Republicans so she got 12 Republicans to
work with her on that bill.
And if I'm not mistaken, that bill was surrounding like among education, which is cool.
That's just great.
And it was signed by Governor Evers in April 2024.
That's the one bill in six years.
One bill in six years, right?
But nobody had nobody brought it like yo, you haven't done anything You ain't have you haven't got nothing done in six years you've been losing a lot of fights for your people and I'm supposed to trust that this same person who cannot get anything through an assembly which she is currently a part of and Nobody rocking with her policies now
I am supposed to believe that because educate me if I'm looking at it the wrong way, please.
I am never above being corrected when I'm wrong.
But my common sense is telling me if in six years you were only able to get one piece of legislation pass.
In six years, this is the legislative body that you are currently a part of.
They not rocket with you now.
I'm supposed to trust that now as governor, they're gonna be like, all right, she governor now.
I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna do it.

I refuse to believe that.

It's not happening now.
So I'm looking at everybody talking about what Crowley isn't doing, what he hasn't gotten done and he has gotten.
So let's talk about this real quick, right?
In that assembly, it was 54 Republicans.
It was 54 Republicans to whatever less amount of Democrats.
So yes.
Yes, it's hard to get things done when the numbers are stacked against you.
And this is why I get upset because people just start speaking on things and have no real point of context, or they don't even read your whole passage, your whole message right away.
They just skim the first line and insult you.
Call you a shut the hell up, Kunas B. But guess who also worked in the assembly?
David Crowley.
In 2017, David Crowley worked in said same assembly with 64 Republicans when she had 54.
So 10 more Republicans.
A way more difficult terrain to navigate.

I'm just simply saying people were bashing me for supporting Crowley and saying he hadn't gotten anything done, which was just completely false.
And I'm saying in 2017, when he was in the assembly as well, not as county executive, right?
Not as county executive.
Just as an assembly member, it was more Republicans in control.
It was 64.
And all I'm saying is I'm not comparing the type of bills or whatever she got one through.
I'm saying he got four in half the time.
That's all I'm simply saying.
So when people say, are we looking at the resumes?

because on one hand, E, they want to discredit somebody and saying he hasn't done enough.
He hasn't got enough done.
But then on the other hand, they move the goalposts and say it was Republican.
Well, they had, if we compare an assembly career, she had twice the time and got half the work done.
Not even half the work.
A quarter of the work.
Done that's simply all I'm saying Love some of the bills that she's trying to get through I've said it a million times But what I've also said is people were Disrespecting me as if I was saying she's terrible blah blah blah all I asked was one question What is the plan for black families in the worst one of the worst places to raise black families?

And then that turned into, what did Crowley do if it is?
What did he do if it had?
What has he gotten done?
And they're like, okay, then I answer and then I ask what has the ops done.
And then I just, I'm supposed to be okay with just being told what is going to be done.
So that's kind of where I'm at with that E. I'm not comparing like the actual bills like, yo, this bill is this and this bill is for that.
I'm just saying somebody got some work done.
One person got more work done than the next in less time.
Way more Republicans to have to work with.
So why would I send somebody who's having a difficult time getting legislation passed to fight on my behalf who also doesn't even have a plan?

Why are we sending somebody who can't get any legislation passed?
