Lunchbreak with Ray & Shannon · Mon Jul 13, 2026

Ray Nitty (Host)

The views and opinions of the hosts and guests of this program are of their own, and not a reflection of Milwaukee Black Media or 101-7 The Truth.

Good afternoon, Milwaukee.

You're tuned in to the lunch break on 101-7 The Truth, where everything is an option on the menu.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

And one thing about me, I'm a tough cookie, but I know what I can do.

And I'm not suffering, all right?

I've fought my whole life.

I'm all right.

Excuse me, Cletus.

Hoppa, who this man?

I wasn't doing it.

So I was like, I'm not paying $1,000 to sleep on somebody couch.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Grab your lunch, hit send on that email, and get ready for the best hour of your day.

My

Unknown Caller

way of thinking is that the parents do all they can.

But once the kids leave off that door, whatever have you, they make their own decisions.

I don't care if you 9 or 99.

It's still your decision about the situations that you get involved yourself in.

Ray Nitty (Host)

We talking about tax-paying citizens.

Look into their taxes.

Look into this.

We talking about elected officials doing backdoor deals and somehow she still want to blame immigrants.

That's what we talking about right now.

We following the money and you still want to blame black people and immigrants and welfare and all of these things for policies and backdoor deals that put poor people in worse position.

Live from the American Family Insurance Studio at the Third Street Market Hall.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Like you said, they want to pat their pockets, but they need a reason to push things through.

And I guess the low-hanging fruit is, OK, well, this is a problem, right?

Y'all want to fix the problem, and they just hope nobody looks into it like, wait, when did food trucks

Ray Nitty (Host)

become an issue?

Maybe Shannon (Host)

right?

Let me know if y'all need a computer setup

Ray Nitty (Host)

Not the dial up Shannon ain't at all.

That's my error You have to use a floppy dick

Okay, I don't feel that old.

I'm young in spirit.

No, that was for me.

I was talking about me, Shannon.

That's all, man.

You made me feel young just now.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Aw, look, just because I remember dial-up, that's

Ray Nitty (Host)

why.

for me.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

That might mean I'm old actually.

That just means I'm old.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Well, you might have been young at that.

You see, I actually had to use dial up for like homework.

I don't even know if you if you had homework when dial up was out, Shannon, you might have just been still just, you know, in some diapers or something.

I don't know how old you was.

Right.

I

Maybe Shannon (Host)

just remember the sound from my crib.

Ray Nitty (Host)

There you go.

You feel me?

Man, but Shannon we got it.

How did first of all did y'all miss me?

That's what I want to know.

Did y'all miss me?

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Bastard It's not the same it's not the same but non is cool.

You know that that's the homie we was kicking it, but it's like dang some something missing

Ray Nitty (Host)

He said, who is this?

Politically homeless says, I'm installing a flat camera instead of the studio.

With a firing mode, I'm assuming it's good.

I'm assuming it's

Maybe Shannon (Host)

good.

Wait, he installing a flat camera?

Ray Nitty (Host)

That sounds like the information, one that the system that the police was using illegally or something like that.

If I'm not mistaken.

I

Unknown (Advertisement)

don't know if I want

Ray Nitty (Host)

that.

I don't know if I want that camera.

Man, so what y'all do while I was gone, man?

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Man, you missed it.

We actually had the president on for an interview.

Barack?

Unknown (Advertisement)

Yep, and then we played Cannes.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Dang, y'all had Barack on?

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

We taught him a little Milwaukee lingo.

He said Broca.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Oh, yeah.

Hey, I did tune in on Friday.

Y'all was wild and I don't know a friend.

Manon said he went into some woman house and she spit on him.

And then set him on fire.

Unknown (Advertisement)

Oh yeah, please don't remind us.

Ray Nitty (Host)

What was that about?

Like I was trying to listen on the subway, but I was like, it sounded

Unknown (Advertisement)

like it was

Ray Nitty (Host)

freaky, freaky Friday.

I was like, I had to come in.

I was like, Manon, that sounded like a Diddy party.

That

Maybe Shannon (Host)

sounded like.

We were growing concern for Manon.

He said he was in like, what was it, Cuba or something?

Unknown (Advertisement)

Yeah, he was in Cuba.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

A random woman waved him into her

Unknown (Advertisement)

house.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Random.

He, random woman, he was walking down the street and she said, come on in.

And he said, okay.

Ray Nitty (Host)

All right, I'm

Maybe Shannon (Host)

with it.

Ray Nitty (Host)

She got

Maybe Shannon (Host)

fruit on his hand.

Right.

Ray Nitty (Host)

This fruit's in

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Cuba.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Look at Manon eating fruit out the bowl.

Unknown Caller

Getting spit on.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Rubbing it in.

This is going absolutely off the rail.

I apologize, Shannon.

Obviously, I missed y'all too.

I missed y'all too, man.

But yeah, that was intense.

Imagine just tuning in.

You're like, all right, let me check on the kids.

What they doing over there?

Yo, Hanga said on fire, and she walked you inside and spit on you?

I was like, I had to turn it down.

I was sitting next to a kid.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Look, I don't know what's worse that she actually was given a palm reading or the thought that you had.

I feel like that might have been safer.

If he was actually had a ditty party, that might have been safer.

Ray Nitty (Host)

And then the chat don't make it no better, because you read in the comments, you come in in late, and then you see if people are like, what the hell's going on with this story?

And they're like, this story getting worse and worse.

But

Maybe Shannon (Host)

but

Ray Nitty (Host)

man, I know I definitely missed y'all man.

Definitely missed y'all.

I took a trip to New York for the wife's birthday.

I know I've been traveling a lot.

We went to go see Jay-Z, man.

We went to go see Hove.

I got my shirt on it as you can see as well.

And it was a it was a very interesting show, man.

It was a very interesting show.

I think they too was

In the moment, day two was super dope.

It was super dope and then removing yourself from day two.

You was like, dang, we got shorted.

Shout out Xavier, man.

Make sure you call in in a little bit, Xavier.

Xavier inspired me today.

I really did get inspired by what he was talking about.

But yeah, man, the show was super dope, Shannon.

And after, like I said, in the moment, it was super dope, right?

And we could break down all the experiences and so forth.

But after looking at day one, it was like, OK, they brought Beyonce out.

They had Blue Ivy playing guitar.

Alicia Keys came out from what I heard.

And then who else came out on day one?

I think somebody else came out.

But on day two, man, we got Slick Rick for real.

And I will say this.

I think this was the dopest moment of all the days.

I don't care what nobody say.

And we was special because we was the only day that had that is when Eminem came out for the renegade verse.

So I think that was super, super dope.

Because Eminem don't even perform anymore.

So I think that was super dope that we got that experience.

But man, after being removed from the experience, man, I felt like we were shorted, man.

I felt real shorted.

They one, they had like maybe a, sounded like a two hour set.

They two, I felt like we started at nine oh eight, cause I was still getting chicken tenders in the.

You know, they were serving chicken tenders and Timberland boots at Yankee Stadium.

Unknown (Advertisement)

That's not

Ray Nitty (Host)

inside of Timberland boots.

It was paper boot.

Let me let me preference it.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

I

Ray Nitty (Host)

was like,

Unknown (Advertisement)

oh,

Ray Nitty (Host)

context.

Yeah.

No, not like an actual Tim, but it was like a paper paper bucket.

It could have did a plastic shape.

Unknown (Advertisement)

Some you know what

Ray Nitty (Host)

I'm saying?

Some let people keep.

Right.

Like, you know how

Unknown (Advertisement)

the brewers

Ray Nitty (Host)

used to do that.

There you go.

Yep.

That would have been super dope.

But

Maybe Shannon (Host)

did you take a picture of this?

Ray Nitty (Host)

You know what?

I didn't even realize it was a boot until like after the tenders was gone and I threw it away like

Maybe Shannon (Host)

that.

No,

Ray Nitty (Host)

not at all.

It's not even a fry.

Not a morsel.

Not a morsel.

But, um, yeah, man, you know, I felt like day two we had it started at like nine 10.

Let's just call it nine 10.

Right.

We was back in Manhattan by 11 15.

So I feel like we walked out of there at like 10, 20, 10, 30.

And then day three, obviously that was the debacle and everything that folks had to deal with when they bum rushed the gates and had a delay of five hours.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Five hours.

So what time was it supposed to start?

Ray Nitty (Host)

Eight o'clock, if I'm not.

No, nine o'clock, New York time.

Eight o'clock, Milwaukee time.

It was supposed to

Maybe Shannon (Host)

start.

So it ended up starting at what, like, one in the morning?

Ray Nitty (Host)

Ooh, I want to say it was, like, 1.30.

I was in the bed rubbing my feet together, watching it on live by then.

But, um...

Maybe Shannon (Host)

That's insane.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Yeah, man, it was, uh, insane is actually a great word to use.

I'm talking about they had, like, 10,000 people still outside trying to get in after those fans rushed the gate.

So they had to shut it down, obviously, for security reasons.

because you don't know who got in with what, weapons or whatever.

So, they was on high alert.

They let people out there.

I had people that was in line sending me pictures like, hey, they still waiting.

And at one point, you thought it was getting canceled.

Give me my refund.

I'm going home.

Well, give me my

Maybe Shannon (Host)

refund.

Never mind.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Straight up.

Maybe Shannon (Host)

Five hours.

Ray Nitty (Host)

But they stuck it out.

And they had like the longest show and the most features.

And I feel away about it.

And we gonna talk about it when we get back, not just because I feel away about it and feeling like we got shorted, but we wanna also add some more context as well because he did do a freestyle on day one, Shannon.

And the context was, I think Zach may play it when we come back from break.

But the context was essentially talking about him selling the community out to profit more billions.

And he brought up Colin Kaepernick into it.

And some people feel like, man, you didn't need to take a shot at Kaep in that moment.

You know what I mean?

He's doing amazing things.

So when we come back, y'all, don't go anywhere.

You are listening to the lunch break with Ray Nitty and maybe Shannon on Truth

Always feel comfortable, but it could save a life.

Here's a way to start a conversation.

Your family is going over to your neighbor's home for dinner for the first time.

How would you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home?

Narrator

Hey.

Ad Council Representative

Hey, we're so excited for tonight.

Before we come over, though, may I ask if there are any unlocked guns in your home?

United Way Representative

Our guns are stored securely, locked in a safe that the kids can't access.

Ad Council Representative

Awesome.

Are people around me safe when I vape?

Science does not support that belief.

Exiled vape emissions linger in the air, affecting indoor air quality and bystanders in the same space through secondhand exposure.

Vaping emissions can also accumulate on clothes, hair, dust, and furniture, leading to exposure risks to bystanders of all ages.

Invaping around a pregnant person can lead to serious health impacts on fetal and childhood development.

Enough with the puff.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

Welcome back to the lunch break.

We're Ray Nitty and Shannon.

And what I need from you right now is to put your rocks in the air and say, Shannon, Shannon, Shannon.

Say lunch break, lunch break, lunch break.

Who you know?

I can get behind this?

She's like, I can get behind this.

This is a type of carry-in all I

Shannon (Co-Host)

like.

SPEAKER_??

With all the oxygen.

Ray Nitty (Host)

What up y'all you live back on the lunch break on truth one on one seven FM Live from the American Family Insurance studio.

So yeah, y'all um back man back from New York spent a couple days out there and Got to see the 25th anniversary of the blueprint man the blueprint album.

It was cool.

I got some feelings I got attitude not that I um

Public Health Advocate

thought

Ray Nitty (Host)

about it Shots out to Anita Nicole shots out to Jasmine West shots out to politically homeless

In the chat, y'all, don't forget 833-212-1017 is the number to dial.

You could text that number too, man.

If you don't got the time to call, please text.

We do read the text.

We do read the text.

We do answer your concerns through the text as well.

But once again, we got a couple of things we're going to be talking about just to give them a quick rundown.

We're going to be talking about Kaepernick JZ and him selling out.

We don't talk about that.

Then we also want to give some updates.

I heard, um, I know, uh, Shannon, y'all did talk about the Nolan Wales updates.

So, um, uh, we won't talk about some of the things that you all have already discussed, but we'll talk about some of the new developments that may have came that people may not, um, be aware about.

And then, uh, you familiar with Andrew Gillum.

Shannon.

Shannon (Co-Host)

I'm not.

Ray Nitty (Host)

He was.

You

Shannon (Co-Host)

have to put me up on game.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Man, so he was a black dude that was running for if I'm not mistaken, Florida's governor.

If I'm not mistaken, I want to say Florida governor.

I could be wrong.

It was either Florida governor or Miami mayor, one of those.

But I feel like it's Florida's governor.

But he back in that race, he got remember he got caught in like the hotel.

We're like drugs and another man and he's married with kids and so forth.

Chill out, Shannon.

Narrator

What in the beauty in black was going on over

Ray Nitty (Host)

there?

Shannon got a chill

Shannon (Co-Host)

time.

I'm not bad.

I'm sorry.

I just thought you were

Ray Nitty (Host)

selling

Shannon (Co-Host)

something that was happening on Netflix.

I got confused.

OK.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Yeah.

So we go get into that because he got in trouble again.

He had came back and he got in trouble again.

So.

We gon' get into that, Shannon.

I just needed to prep you because, you know, I don't need you spittin' your water.

Narrator

That's a lot.

You already didn't drop the lot on me.

It's more than men and drugs and motels.

Ray Nitty (Host)

I saw that post you did, too, about what you like to be.

But anyway, yeah, man, back to J.C.

Zach.

Hey, Shannon B, y'all don't wanna see me shinin' the Zach Chat, man.

Shannon is a handful.

We just be like, just act me like, like I said, I just act like I don't see it no more.

Shannon (Co-Host)

Wow.

Wow.

Ray Nitty (Host)

But back to Jay, man.

Shannon (Co-Host)

Let me just skip past this.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Right.

We had, we got the, we got the freestyle.

Let's all cue that freestyle

Freestyle Performer

up real quick.

I'm a target.

Ain't don't miss that target.

No excuses.

They don't know what you're doing with it.

Apple and world market.

You shopping at Amazon or you boy type.

You posting on Instagram.

That's meta, boy.

Stop it.

Y'all know Google?

On YouTube.

You picking and choosing a pilot ticket as usual.

They didn't think for now it is.

It's embarrassing.

They run out of characters, had to bring back up Capricut.

A buddy took a check, I ain't even mad at him.

With the loan with that check, got a sign that I'm disparaging.

I'm the one they can't control.

Y'all better be glad it's him.

Ray Nitty (Host)

All right, y'all.

So that was a freestyle.

We kind of cut it short, too, because he just kind of started repeating some of the same things he said.

But a lot of the chatter already on it.

Need to say, I've never been a J-Fan.

I can go all the way back to the late 80s.

A lot of his raps are recycled from other rappers.

A lot of people do that.

A lot of homage, but, you know.

She also said he's a whole clown and put the clown face.

Shout out to our truth nation listeners for always sharing their truth.

So yeah, what's your thoughts?

Is Jay-Z a sellout for one going at Colin Kaepernick and seemingly, you know, going against the culture with... It's almost as if he was... What's the word I'm looking for, is that, Shannon?

I don't know, is

Narrator

garbage, trash, hypocritical?

I don't

Ray Nitty (Host)

know.

Sure, I'll go with a... I'll go with hypocritical.

Garbage that's not like a whole nother discussion that Zach is ready for and I don't know if I if I want to have that

Narrator

kind

Ray Nitty (Host)

of always act I hope y'all ready for this lunch break crew man cuz this ain't nothing like you've ever seen a witness before but

Yeah,

Freestyle Performer

overrated.

That's the word you're looking

Ray Nitty (Host)

for.

Wow.

Wow.

That wasn't it, but that wasn't it at all.

Shannon (Co-Host)

I think what Ray was looking for is he's trying to cover his own ASS and make excuses for what he did and throw a cap under the bus at the same time.

Like he's like, I did this, but y'all still doing this in rap form.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Yeah, like is he gaslighting the culture, right?

Because he talked about I'm a target.

You know what I mean?

And, you know, we boycott and target right now.

We're supposed to be.

Now, is there truth in what he's saying?

So what we didn't hear at the end of that freestyle is is like, yo, is we politicking or is it politics as usual?

You know, and is what he said, he's basically picking, choosing.

And he said that in what's the name to what we're all righteous about.

And.

Does he have a point with that?

Do we pick and choose what we want to boycott?

Because he highlighted, okay, we boycott and target, but still posting on Facebook.

We talking about still posting on Metta still post using Amazon.

I remember at a time there was supposed to be a Amazon boycott.

And I will say I have stopped shopping that target, but I did not 100% stop shopping on Amazon.

So is there...

Like you know double standard.

I think that's the I think that's the word I was looking for is there a double standard in the culture right now where you know, we're calling him a sellout and You know, we still using a lot of these devices that have clear agendas

against our community.

833-212-1017 would love to get your thoughts.

Do we have a double standard on who we're boycotting?

And, you know, how do you feel about him basically saying, oh, Kaepernick took the bag, he's saying, I ain't complain, I ain't, you know, I ain't mad at him for taking the bag, but, you know, you had to sign this.

And people are saying Jay-Z, well, not my bad, not Jay-Z.

Rock Nation allegedly had something to do with disrupting Kaepernick's movement.

And people are saying this, Shannon, because they are assuming, I don't have no factual evidence about this, that Jay-Z is trying to position himself to be able to be a franchise owner of an NFL team.

What's your thought, Shannon?

Shannon (Co-Host)

So the first part, I think,

I understand where he's coming from, where he says, okay, I did this, but y'all doing this.

But I think we see that a lot in our community where people think, well, if we can't do all the things, we can't do one thing.

I feel like, am I making sense with that?

Like, when they're like, well, if everybody ain't in jail, free R. Kelly.

Like, you know what I'm saying?

Like, that's just like, well, my uncle

Narrator

ain't

Shannon (Co-Host)

in jail, free him.

Like, what?

Like, what do you mean?

That like we have that really bad and I think it's just gaslighting people even when it comes down to like certain movements where it's as little as like, okay, we all bought boycott boycott and target and then you got somebody like him bringing up.

Well, y'all shopping at Amazon.

Well, y'all

Public Health Advocate

doing

Shannon (Co-Host)

this.

Yeah.

But let's let's pick one thing, focus on it and tackle this right now.

Even when we had the discussion about the music and people like, well, we got to stop listening to music.

We got to stop watching the shows.

We got to stop doing all these things.

It's like, let's agree on one thing.

Let's tackle that.

Let's move on.

We will never get anywhere if we can't agree on at least one cause to focus on at a time.

You know what I'm saying?

Public Health Advocate

It's just

Shannon (Co-Host)

unrealistic to ask everybody to just shut everything down at once.

And I do feel like us being able to stop shopping at Target because

I was at Target this weekend, but I had to run and get some one thing.

But I will

Narrator

say,

Shannon (Co-Host)

since the boycott, I make a conscious decision not to go to Target.

Like if I absolutely have to, I'm like, dang, I gotta go to Target.

But I go there a lot less now.

So I feel like us agreeing on something and really sticking together and sticking to it is good for us.

But him just basically gaslighting us because he didn't did some messed up stuff is crazy.

And then for him to call out Kaepernick, like, this ain't the time for that.

You know what I'm

Ad Council Representative

saying?

Shannon (Co-Host)

Like, save that.

Save it.

Like, we need that right now.

We don't need for two strong figures in our community to be going back and forth right now.

The infighting is not necessary when we dealing with bigger issues.

Ray Nitty (Host)

Right.

Shannon (Co-Host)

Like, save

Ray Nitty (Host)

it.

100%.

And, like, to my knowledge,

Correct me if I'm wrong, Shannon Zach.

Like, you don't hear Kaepernick like making no noise about nobody or complaining.

You know what I'm saying?

Like the most we heard was right.

You know, the most we heard was he was trying to get back into the NFL.

That was like the and that was years ago.

You know what I'm saying?

A crime.

You know what I'm saying?

Like it wanted to do his own workouts with his own personnel and they made that a thing.

So it's like I like and low key cap from the meal man.

So you don't have to you don't have to get up off ours I know he ain't just always here, but you know how he is about our own and

Shannon (Co-Host)

Right

Ray Nitty (Host)

the the other thing was is is like you said a hundred percent Shannon um I do would I would love to see the community pick something stick to it and see it all the way through right because

What we do know is the target boycott was very, very successful.

We do know that was extremely successful.

They lost record, record, record numbers in sales, right?

When they started doing all that, like, remember what we boycotted target for, right?

It wasn't because, like, you know, somebody just said to do it and we was like, all right, we on it.

They started once.

They started removing the DEI and started penalizing people or publicizing people who did have DEI efforts.

You know, Target started doing things like limiting their black line products.

Stop, you know, holding more black products and things like that and remove some DEI jobs if I'm not mistaken and so forth.

And we had a huge impact in the law, Shannon, so much so that the stocks plummeted.

record to record lows, and they even had to change the CEO.

So it works when we use our buying power.

You feel what I'm saying?

When we all get on the same damn page and not just be so quick to just want to go against the grain and be like, oh, I'm going for myself.

I'm like, we ain't never going.

You get so much further together.

We get so much further together.

Shannon, tell us the break man.

Shannon (Co-Host)

Hi, it's Shannon from 101.7.

Main Host

I swear to God.

I swear to God.

Live on the lunch break, we back.

Truth 101.7.

Keep that going, man.

Radio Host

I said, I'm playing

Main Host

ether all summer.

For the rest of the summer, man.

I feel away.

I feel away.

Zach, you gon' hate me, but I do think J the greatest of all time.

Zach (Co-Host)

I mean, I'm glad you think that

Main Host

way.

And we just had that conversation about how people think.

Sometimes you just gotta let them think how they think, right?

We're gonna leave it at that.

I'm

Zach (Co-Host)

glad you have that opinion, right?

I'm glad

Main Host

you have that thought.

I love Drake.

Love Drake.

Certain things I don't like about Drake.

Who said anything about Drake?

I love Drake.

Certain things I don't like about him.

Who your top side quest real quick?

Just give me one.

You don't even gotta give me a top three.

If you have to say, I'm not mad at that.

I'm not mad at that.

Who your top, Shannon?

Shannon (Co-Host)

Wait, who did he just say?

Main Host

Kendrick.

Kendrick.

Shannon (Co-Host)

Oh, OK.

Look, y'all don't want to hear who my top person is.

I'm going to just start saying it.

Main Host

Right.

I mean,

Shannon (Co-Host)

ooh.

And we just,

Main Host

uh.

I want to hear it, Shannon.

The people want to know.

I don't have one.

Oh, that's fine.

Shannon (Co-Host)

The

Main Host

temptation.

That's fair.

That's fair.

That's fair.

Who's talking about rap?

I don't have one.

I seriously

Shannon (Co-Host)

don't have

Main Host

one.

Shannon, I love them all.

I love all

Shannon (Co-Host)

y'all.

Everybody get a participation award.

How about that?

Main Host

Yeah, for sure.

100%.

Yeah, if I had to pick one today, if I had to pick one today, it would be Kendrick.

I ain't mad at that at all.

If I had to pick one today.

But I feel away, man.

I feel away about Jay.

I feel away at Anita's.

I think how you want to think, right?

Cast on be rocking with Jay man.

I get it.

I'm 42 years old and He ain't dropped the album in what seven years, maybe even more.

So it's like I you know, you ain't gonna cultivate new listeners by just letting Ray nitty age and You know

Shannon (Co-Host)

y'all got y'all got a y'all got to keep him alive

Main Host

Yeah, for sure and I tried to

Shannon (Co-Host)

but

Main Host

I'm tell you this man.

God MC don't got to worry about me no more

going to no more shows.

That was it.

Shannon (Co-Host)

I was show gonna say y'all be talking about the youth and a group of 40 year olds then ran in.

Hey,

Main Host

hey, if you look at that, if you time

Shannon (Co-Host)

up,

Main Host

don't do that.

Don't act like it was just for

Shannon (Co-Host)

him base, right?

Main Host

Shannon, don't do

Shannon (Co-Host)

this.

It

Main Host

was a lot of

Shannon (Co-Host)

people from New York.

Main Host

Shannon, I said

Shannon (Co-Host)

a lot of people.

Main Host

It's a lot of Shannon.

It's a lot of people from Brooklyn and Harlem and the Bronx and young people that still love Jay from that state that like leave 40 and leave us out of this.

If you look at the video, as a matter of fact, if you look at the video of the

Shannon (Co-Host)

teenagers,

Main Host

I never said teenagers, Shannon.

but you specifically labeled 40 plus and that's me and I feel attacked.

I'll give you 35

Shannon (Co-Host)

plus.

Damn.

30

Main Host

and

Shannon (Co-Host)

up.

I don't even go 30 and up.

That's still kid like behavior.

Main Host

All

Shannon (Co-Host)

right, cool.

Main Host

That's a little bit more fair.

That's a little bit more fair.

But don't just act like it was just

Shannon (Co-Host)

a clip.

Main Host

Don't just act like it was just our age group.

If you look at the clip, Shannon.

Those look like young, skinned folks that... They look like younger people that was running through there, Shannon.

All right?

From New York.

Shannon (Co-Host)

I would like to see this.

I would like to see this clip we speak

Main Host

of.

I know I sent it to you, Shannon.

I'm gonna... Maybe we'll get it.

Yeah, look in the chat,

Shannon (Co-Host)

Shannon.

I want Zach's opinion on this.

Main Host

We know what Zach

Shannon (Co-Host)

thinks.

While I check the chat.

Zach (Co-Host)

Jay-Z's a hypocrite.

He shouldn't have done that.

Main Host

I was talking about who ran

Shannon (Co-Host)

through the...

Main Host

Well, I think that's a good segue because... Not necessarily segue, but a good talking point because I feel like there's a lot of things he shouldn't have did, man.

I'm going to give you a quick, because then we could get on to the next topic, but I don't want to just keep talking about Jay.

We got Bigger Grapes to fry.

Bigger Grapes to pick.

Shout out to the grapevine.

So here's my gripe, right?

Shannon, we got Shorted.

Night One, they got the Queen, Beyoncé, they got Nas and Alicia Keys.

And they also got Blue Ivy as well.

Yup, they got Blue Ivy.

Night two, I told you who we had.

We had Slick Rick.

We had Pharrell and Eminem.

I still think Eminem was the dopest feature of all of them, right?

But night three, despite the disasters and everything that they had to deal with, they got Beyonce again.

Rihanna, Usher, Tiana Taylor, Slick Rick.

Wait a minute.

They had Eminem on night three as well.

Hey, so

Shannon (Co-Host)

wait, tell me something.

Was the price of the tickets different

Main Host

each night?

Shannon (Co-Host)

No.

Main Host

No.

Oh, yeah, I would have

Shannon (Co-Host)

been mad.

I would have told some stuff up.

Main Host

Anita, chill out, Anita.

Don't start, Anita.

Those were older people who moisturized their skin daily.

Anita, chill out.

Radio Host

Exactly.

Main Host

We're

Radio Host

not even talking about that no

Main Host

more.

Radio Host

Thank you.

Shannon (Co-Host)

Thank you.

Main Host

Don't

Shannon (Co-Host)

stop.

Main Host

They just had

Shannon (Co-Host)

to snap that on in some Timberland boots and put some moisturizer on,

Main Host

right?

Now I gotta find it.

Now I gotta

Shannon (Co-Host)

find it.

Main Host

We talking about something else now.

Y'all starting it.

Y'all starting it.

Don't make me show my age.

First of all, they got Eminem and Pharrell.

I thought we had, we was special because we got that alone.

No, they got that.

They got Eminem, Pharrell, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Usher, Tiana Taylor.

Slick Rick.

Like, come on, man.

We got our tickets where we were supposed to get them.

We didn't get the extra in and show.

So I'm like, and then here's what made me salty is, you know, the band, like they doing certain songs, Shannon, but then they mixing in like Beyonce instrumentals like she about to come out.

It was like, quit playing with my emotions, man.

Then

Shannon (Co-Host)

it's crazy.

Main Host

In my opinion, like how we do the blueprint and we don't get none of the takeover, the blueprint was takeover.

I understand if him and Nas had a deal, like, yeah, we ain't gonna talk about each other's beefs no more.

But the first verse was so, it was so neutral.

It was so neutral and good, Shannon, we could have got that.

So when we left the experience, I was at 8.5, right?

I was at an 8.5 because I still felt like you play with our emotions, man.

You had me thinking I was going to see the queen.

You know, I thought I was going to see B. I thought I was going to get takeover.

I ain't get takeover.

At one point, I thought it would have been dope if he would have allowed Nas to come in and actually do ether.

I think that would have been a dope, huge moment of hip hop.

But I guess all I'm egos prevail.

But anyway, Shannon, I felt like.

In the beginning I had it like an 8.59 out of 10 show, right?

After removing myself and looking at everything and it's in totality, it's like a 5.56 for me, man.

Radio Host

My experience, not the whole thing.

Main Host

My experience, 5.56.

Did I enjoy the show?

Especially being

Shannon (Co-Host)

on day two.

And feeling like you got shorted, I would feel the same way because you you paid for the same ticket that they paid for and they got Beyonce, Rihanna, Eminem.

Main Host

Yeah.

So maybe people is right about what they're saying about

Shannon (Co-Host)

it.

I mean,

Main Host

it's more refund.

No, we ain't getting that.

I can tell you that right now.

But

Shannon (Co-Host)

you know, they take it up with Target.

No, I'm just.

Main Host

Man, I.

But anyway, Shadda, that was a weekend about celebration.

But while we celebrating, we gotta get serious a little bit.

Before we transition, before we transition, we got Ron that would like to talk about Jay-Z.

Ron, how you doing?

Good afternoon.

You are listening to The Lunch Break.

Zach (Co-Host)

Thanks for taking my call, man.

Your guys are hitting the topics on the show, and I'm loving it.

I'm starting to listen more.

So y'all keep that up.

That's number one.

Number two, Jay did win.

I'm a jay fan.

I've been a jay fan for a long time.

That's his disclaimer.

But he's been winning for so long.

People seem like he was waiting for him to slip up and do something, you know, hit for critical, whatever.

He took a mirror and held it up to our face.

And now we want to go all agree with hypocrite.

He never said he would break out nothing.

Lots of people who just ran in a charge of the other day, said one thing, maybe hypocrite.

And these girls who run around here, we're going to break, I mean, and guys, it's like people, we're going to break out the Asian group, ever.

You can't get the ones with pajama pants in the basket here to stay out in stores.

So, I mean, to try to, to try to say that Jay's a hypocrite and, and he, you know, I don't want to say Jay's old and he's old and all that.

At least the rappers that we listen to is still walking around a lot with no bullet holes.

But the rappers today, they in the ground training to go out and enjoy.

They think they're well because the young folks are jealous of them.

So being mad at Jay because of, you know, he, to me, he didn't call out Captain Nick.

He stated the fact.

Captain Nick took that money.

If I write it wrong, yes, he did.

Then there's the very institution he wanted to, he wanted to, you know, he wanted to expose the NFL.

Then he won the job in that fail.

So it's kind of like, dude, come on.

We got to all face our own hypocrisy.

Did they do some hypocritical?

I don't know because I've never heard him say, we are boycottin' target.

When we can't even stay on one subject, we still trying to protest Nike for way back.

I remember we tried to protest Nike.

That lasted for, what, two weeks?

And then Karis won.

He could put the Nikes back on.

Let me reverse real quick.

Main Host

Let me back you

Zach (Co-Host)

up real quick,

Main Host

Ron.

You said, you

Zach (Co-Host)

said,

Main Host

you said something there and I just got to, I got to make sure, you know, we talking about it factually.

You said Kaepernick was trying to expose the NFL.

That's not what Kaepernick protest was about.

Zach (Co-Host)

Kaepernick protest.

Oh, okay, okay, okay.

He tried to say that the NFL, he wanted to expose them in a way that they were like trying to read the system against him.

And they did.

And they did because there was other NFL players that took the knee, but they didn't get as much publicity as he did.

But then he turned around and he wanted to get back into the NFL.

And he was supposed to get back in because he didn't do anything wrong.

He would protest the police brutality.

And then remember, people

Main Host

forget.

I'm not

Zach (Co-Host)

to

Main Host

interrupt you, Rob.

People forget that.

No, go ahead.

Kaepernick, he never was just kneeling at first.

He just stayed away.

He stayed out in the background.

What happened was it was a soldier, a

Radio Host

veteran

Main Host

that saw him protesting and took dislike to it and asked him about it.

And after talking to Kaepernick, he decided to join in and kneel with Kaepernick because.

In sports, in military, and so forth, when you kneel, it was never a protest.

It was a sign of respect and showing solitude to something.

So that was funny to me, because I played baseball.

When somebody got hit by a pitch, if somebody got hurt, everybody on the field took a knee and prayed, and whatever the case may be.

But they turned this into a whole thing.

And people keep forgetting that it was a soldier.

A veteran that said, hey, Captain Nick, I hear what you're doing now.

I'm going to take a kneel with you.

People forget that part, Shannon.

But don't go anywhere, y'all.

You are listening to the lunch.

Ray Nitty (host)

But welcome back, y'all.

833-212-1017 is the number to dial in or text, man.

You live with Ray Nitty and At Maybe, Shannon on all platforms.

The lunch break.

We're talking about, we're wrapping up talking about Jay.

Shout out to Ron for sharing his thoughts.

He says, you know, he feels like Jay-Z just held a mirror.

He just held a mirror up to the community.

and highlighted some of our hypocrisies.

And I think two could be true at the same.

Two could be true at the same.

Ain't nothing wrong with holding the mirror up and highlighting our hypocrisies.

But word on the streets is that Rock Nation, I ain't sayin' Jay-Z, somebody from Rock Nation stated that they had a role in putting bad news out about

Kaepernick in order to help sabotage his movement.

So, and that was confirmed by, what is the late Layton?

Forgot his name.

The black guy that used to be on TMZ.

I forgot his name.

But.

Shannon (contributor)

Oh, yeah.

Ray Nitty (host)

But as we pivot, as we pivot.

There was some brief.

Somebody said, Israel, keep the comments on topic.

OK.

As we pivot, there have been some brief updates.

I know you and Manon touched on some of the updates about the Nolan Wells case in Southwest Mississippi.

You want to just give a brief rundown on what y'all did talk about, Shannon.

we could educate the new listeners that may be tuning in today and then I'll share what I recently filed.

Shannon (contributor)

Yeah, for sure.

So we did talk about the parents going on Good Morning America, a potential argument that hadn't been verified, seemingly got verified because Crump did bring up the fact that he was heard in the background saying, give me my phone.

We did talk a little bit about how the mom said that her friend had to

go to this kid's house to get the phone and how it was confusing because for them to tell them that he didn't make it back and not bring up, hey, we have his phone, come get it, they had to literally track the phone down because they have Live 360 and Snapchat on his phone.

We also kind of touched on how when they got the phone back, I believe his Snapchat was deleted.

and

Ray Nitty (host)

some

Shannon (contributor)

things like that.

So we kind of touched on the basis that things that came out after the Good Morning America interview, but I do know other things have come out since then.

Ray Nitty (host)

Yep.

So they said, absolutely right.

He says, it wasn't volunteered.

You know this person is looking for their son.

You didn't volunteer to get him the phone.

He was kicking in with your kids.

And you didn't volunteer to give him the phone until they had to track it down.

And they ask, they call and ask, have you seen or heard from Nolan?

We were looking for him.

And you don't volunteer the information like, oh, right then, like, oh, no, he came back.

He got another ride, but we do have his phone.

You don't volunteer that.

That's crazy.

And then 100% right.

In the

Shannon (contributor)

timeline though, did you see, um, I believe they said that they got back at like three or four or something like that.

Ray Nitty (host)

And she

Shannon (contributor)

didn't even find out her son wasn't back until like 11 at night or something crazy like that, like hours.

Like it wasn't like few hours after they got back, like, and she was like, Hey, what's up?

Or they volunteered that information.

Ray Nitty (host)

Right.

Right.

And then, uh,

What you said was also correct.

Not his whole Snapchat was deleted.

They said when his mother got in the phone, messages were deleted and his Snapchat had no saved videos.

And they felt like that was actually pretty strange.

that, you know, he wouldn't, she said he's gone through his phone before and he always has some sort of video saved from when they hang out as friends and so forth.

So seemingly as if they were trying to erase any type of connection to where Nolan was hanging out with these kids.

What else, Shannon?

A timing of the question.

Nolan father says he personally circled the island searching July 5th saw nothing Crump asked why the body didn't appear until July 6th His body should have been there on July 5th now.

I'm you know, I'm not going to put you know People got emotions are high so you could just be saying things.

I don't know how you know bodies Decide to show up so I'm not going to

to speak on that.

But what we do know is the independent autopsy that was, you ready for this, Shannon?

This is amazing segue.

It was paid for by Colin Kaepernick.

Reverend Al Sharpton

this death of Nolan Wells is resonating so broadly and so loudly for black families around this country.

Well, given the history of Mississippi and given the unknown aspects of what happened to Nolan, it certainly brings back some of the worst fears we've had not only in history, but in recent times.

That does not mean that this will go either way.

I think the reason that National Action Network and I got involved is to make sure the family gets all the support it needs to find out what it is.

They've said that we're not saying it's race, but we're not saying it wasn't race.

And it could be race at two levels.

One, it could be at the actual trip.

Two, it could be the investigators, then a law enforcement in Mississippi, which a lot more people have a lot of concern about.

So when the family and attorney Ben Crump came to me in the press conference yesterday, was at National Action Network's headquarters, it was to raise the concerns.

It's one black young man, 18 years old with three young whites.

They ended up

saying that he wanted to stay, yet they had, one of them had his cell phone, one of them had his pick-car keys.

It just does not add up.

And we're saying that that we intend to be present and keep the efforts forward to help this family until they can find out some reasonable way.

The one thing we know this young man is dead and three young men with him is not.

They possessed his keys and his cell phone.

His mother also raised.

Why was all of his things is his text messages, his his photos and

all erased from his cell phone.

So there's a lot of concern here.

And I think that as people tell the black community, don't jump to conclusion, we can also say the other side shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Let's get this objectively done.

So we're going to be involved.

Tyler Perry said he wants to pay for the funeral.

Colin Capone paid for the new autopsy.

Ray Nitti (host)

Welcome back to the award-winning one-on-one, seven of Truth.

We're Ray Nitty and that may be Shannon.

Shout out to Zach for that live.

You live from the Third Street Market Hall, y'all.

American Family Insurance Studio.

Shannon, how you feeling, man?

It is our tool.

What it do?

Shannon (host)

Feeling great, feeling great.

What about you, Ray?

Ray Nitti (host)

Man, I'm feeling, I'm getting back nuzzled in in the chair, man.

You know, getting back nuzzled

Shannon (host)

in.

Got it.

Ray Nitti (host)

Still ready for you to get back into the city.

So get really

Shannon (host)

good.

Getting ready for family fast

Ray Nitti (host)

coming right up.

That's actually that was pretty smooth.

Shannon (host)

I see what you did there,

Ray Nitti (host)

Shannon.

Man, so yeah, Zach just played a video from Reverend Al Sharpton.

Basically just highlighting some of those things

Shannon (host)

that

Ray Nitti (host)

that we just talked about.

As he stated, we're talking about the Nolan Wells case and just giving some new updates.

As we stated, Colin Kaepernick is paying for an independent autopsy that won't be conducted in Mississippi.

It would be happening in DC.

So it's interesting.

It reminds me of what we talked about on last Friday, where we said the Kendrick's body was found after they

did, uh, was going for an independent autopsy.

All the organs was gone and he was stuffed with newspaper.

Shannon (host)

And then nobody knew, like the funeral home blaming the state, the state blaming the whole bunch of people pointing their hands.

Ray Nitti (host)

Come on now.

So

Shannon (host)

crazy.

Ray Nitti (host)

That's the climate that we're dealing with right now.

Y'all eight, three, three, two, one, two, 10, 17 is the number to call.

833-212-1017 is the number to call.

Make sure you tuned in on YouTube, one on one, seven to truth.

And you could text that number again is 833-212-1017.

What else you got, Shannon?

How you feeling?

What else you want to add about this?

Shannon (host)

I just think I've seen a lot of discourse about people coming out and saying they don't think Nolan Wills is disappearance.

and death was race driven.

And I feel like people are kind of like confusing us thinking like, oh, like they invited him out there and killed him because he's black.

They think people are thinking that, but I don't think that's what most of us are thinking.

Most of us are thinking just the transparency part of it and the investigative part of it is being fumbled or was being fumbled because he's black.

You know what I'm saying?

Like they said, if the roles were reversed and there was three black kids with one white person, they did not come back as soon as they got on land.

Ray Nitti (host)

Man.

Shannon (host)

They would have been in jail.

Everybody in jail.

You know what I'm saying?

This would not have re... And you know, and the sad part about it is black people also would have been on board.

Like, oh yeah, they did something to that boy.

You know what I'm saying?

Like that's just how we think and that's how a lot of Americans are programmed to think about our own.

So you know they would, white people would have been on them.

So when it comes to like this young black man coming up missing these white kids coming home with his cell phone, his keys and acting like he just wanted to stay on a private island by itself, like he own survivor or something.

Like people okay with that and people would have been okay with that.

As an excuse if people didn't step up and push for a better investigation and like you said with the Kendrick Johnson case I feel like Because most of the like the autopsy and the investigation was done Using the people of that state.

That's why whoever murdered him got away with it.

So that's why things like

Being able to have somebody independently do the autopsy and get ahead of all of this is important no matter what the outcome is because now we actually have a fighting chance to figure out what actually happened to him.

Ray Nitti (host)

Right.

And they were expecting the results from the independent autopsy last Friday.

So and I said it got delayed because of canceled flights.

Now, as much as I want to, you know,

Be a conspiracy theorist and say things.

There was a lot of canceled flights heading towards the East Coast around that time as well.

But the information about the independent autopsy that could drop any day, possibly during our show this week.

So we'll we'll keep following and monitoring the situation closely and keep you all abreast.

Shannon, we have Al.

Al, how you doing?

You live on the truth.

Al (caller)

I'm doing well.

From what I'm seeing, this young gentleman was a kind and loving spirit, but they had a goal to take his soul.

So this things keep on happening because he black people lose control and they don't put that proper justify and that lady Puri on them because they don't use self-preservation of self.

And also nobody is talking to these kids about self-preservation.

And they are not also putting their kids and kids

kickboxing, karate, craze, magoo, and jujitsu when it comes to self-preservation itself, because everybody on that boat should have had a lopsided eye, a concussion, and a broken bone.

But what happens is these kind-loving spirits get around these people and let they guard down.

And what they do is exploit your kindness for your weakness.

So when you get in these situations, as you start beating ass from left to right, left, left to right, right to left.

upside down till their mouth is laying down on the ground.

Then they're calling the attorney.

So I say to all you black people, start talking to your kids and you always have a weapon on you wherever you go.

And it's self preservation of self.

So when they put you in that position, there's no talking straight ass beat.

We don't condone violence, but we are tired of becoming spirits.

Okay.

Shannon (host)

And

Al (caller)

they need to sue them parents for everything they got down to the burial plot.

And you even want the magazine eat off their bones like neck bones, okay?

From the womb to the tomb, stop letting your guard down around white people.

That's why it keep on happening.

But once you start going upside their head and taking their head and slamming it through the boat, why they can't breathe?

Cause you keep hitting them from left to right.

It will soon stop.

Have

Shannon (host)

a great day.

Bye bye.

No nonsense.

Okay.

Ray Nitti (host)

I'll be right.

I'll be right

Shannon (host)

though.

Ray Nitti (host)

Well, I'll be right.

Shannon (host)

I'll

Ray Nitti (host)

be right.

Sure.

Shannon (host)

Soon somebody gets you wrong.

You got to go.

You got to you got to go.

You got to be ready to go trying to go.

Ray Nitti (host)

No, he was he was preaching on

Shannon (host)

that one.

He was

Ray Nitti (host)

preaching on that one.

I think I think what's important here too is like

You know, we like to say Shannon too could be true at the same time, right?

Just because It doesn't have to be that like I think you just said this Shannon before we took Al's call or before the break It didn't have to be that he was He was killed because of his race

Shannon (host)

Right

Ray Nitti (host)

It didn't have to be race driven, but that doesn't mean these outcomes can't be race hidden in my opinion.

Shannon (host)

Yeah,

Ray Nitti (host)

because we see

Shannon (host)

the

Ray Nitti (host)

privilege start coming into play, right?

Like, sure, we can sit here and everybody can say like they were friends.

They were on the same football team and, you know, they play sports together.

They all hang out.

Everything be cool until it ain't cool no more.

And then.

There's a time where race does come into play and maybe race wasn't into play when they all was kicking it and everything was good.

But going back to what Alice talking about self preservation.

When you don't have the complexion for the protection.

That's when race does come into play and you could fall back on your mom who's a judge.

Yeah, you know.

You could fall like and they got allegedly there's a witness that said the boat was being cleaned up at three in the morning at said judges house.

Allegedly.

Shannon (host)

And then you got the same girl that they say he stayed back with because he wanted to hang with her saying he saw him get on the boat with them.

Ray Nitti (host)

Come on now.

Say that one more time Shannon for the truth nation

Shannon (host)

The girl that they said the friend said he stayed back to talk to this girl the girl said she saw them him leave with them So it's like conflicting stories left and right and there's too many things that's just not consistent and like I said regardless of the outcome this case deserves For somebody not to just play I look like you drown.

Bye

Because it's clearly it's clearly something else going on even if it is them just trying to cover they but we need to know what happened, you know, I'm saying and obviously They have parents in powerful places that could I like do what they want to do like we've seen before?

Ray Nitti (host)

100% hopefully

Shannon (host)

we get answers

Ray Nitti (host)

and by you saying that it raised another point, right?

Like now we're seeing

And I say this respectfully, the the whiteness starting to.

Come into play, right?

Because now you have the boy saying, oh, he stayed with this girl.

And the girl saying, no, he ain't stayed with me.

He left with them.

Yeah, which.

Maybe I shouldn't just jump to a conclusion.

But the question in the chat.

is do you think there was foul play in the death of Nolan Wells?

So being that that is the question in the chat, is it safe for me to give an assumption on this exactly?

Should I remain out of it and just let these facts

Shannon (host)

play out?

Share your thoughts.

Ray Nitti (host)

My thoughts.

My thoughts, Shannon.

Said girl that I have zero, zero factual basis of evidence to even come to this conclusion.

But.

I'm just kind of piecing things together here, right?

Said girl that he was said to have stayed with, that the guys who went and cleaned the boat said that he stayed with.

She like, no, he ain't stayed with me.

I think said girl might have been a middle link between Nolan and these other dudes, because they said he was arguing with a friend about a girl,

Shannon (host)

right?

Ray Nitti (host)

Is that the girl that they was arguing about?

That's what I would like to

Shannon (host)

know.

Right.

Ray Nitti (host)

And jealousy.

We know what white jealousy look like.

You know what?

Let me not label it on any specific color.

We know what jealousy looks like.

Shannon (host)

We know some people's jealousy can be a little more dangerous than others, though.

We do know that.

Ray Nitti (host)

Yeah, for sure.

For sure.

Especially when, you know, I'm not going to say that part though.

But yes.

So that's my thought, Shannon.

Am I off base for thinking the girl that they are saying he stayed with?

She's the one saying, no, he ain't stayed with me.

He left with y'all.

So don't say he stayed with me.

Is that the girl?

Do you think that could be the girl?

Or do you know if that was a girl that they were talking about?

Shannon (host)

I'm not sure, but that that would definitely.

I would definitely answer some questions.

And like you said, it's one of, man, it's one of those things where jealousy, if jealousy played a part right after, you know, privilege comes into play, you know what I'm saying?

When it comes into those environments.

And I feel like we both know what we're talking about here, how some people's jealousy can be a little more dangerous.

And in the end, when things go left and somebody ends up missing or dead, nobody really wants, they,

They talk about we don't want to talk to the police.

Look, they know how to shut up and stick together.

Listen, all y'all be quiet.

Nobody want to be linked to this.

Let's all like

Ray Nitti (host)

do

Shannon (host)

our part.

Get the night.

Ray Nitti (host)

Oh, and they said they said that that it was evidence of the families of those boys out to eat together.

The day after.

He was missing and the day, even the day after that.

So the day after and then two days after they were out eating and whatever, but they was all seen together.

Is that just a coincidence?

I don't know.

Is that, you know, we need to make sure we move in like, you know, business as usual.

Like we're not having any.

Weird move, you know what I mean?

I'm just

Shannon (host)

kind of... Right, let's all come to one conclusion, one story, let's all stick together, type of

Ray Nitti (host)

life.

And Sharpton's framing is, don't rush to call it racism.

Also, don't rush to call it not racism.

We want justice.

Let the chips fall where they may.

Shannon.

Let's try this again.

Shannon (host)

What's

Ray Nitti (host)

up?

Take us to break, Shannon.

Shannon (host)

You are listening to the lunch break at 101.7 the truth the award-winning 101.7 the truth You're listening to red nitty make sure you guys stay put because we gonna be right back in hour two of the lunch break.

How's that?

Ray Nitti (host)

Sounds great.

A

Shannon (host)

little better.

Ray Nitti (host)

We're already in hour two

Ray Nitty (host)

What up, y'all?

What up, y'all?

Welcome back to the Lunch Break on the award-winning 10170 Truth with Ray Nitty and maybe Shannon.

Shannon, funny as hell.

Shannon (host)

Not maybe Ann Shannon, not Ray Ann Nitty.

Ray Nitty (host)

Shannon said, we'll be right back with Ray and Nitty.

Don't go anywhere.

My girl needed latte.

Look, I

Shannon (host)

spilled half of the one I did have.

That's why I'm struggling today.

Ray Nitty (host)

That's what happened because I was like, I thought you I was like, you said, yeah, just stop to get one.

But

Shannon (host)

I didn't have of it still.

Need to make a request.

Ray Nitty (host)

But yeah, Shannon.

Anything else you want to add on this story?

We talking about the new updates.

on the Nolan Wales case.

Some of those things, the family brought to light.

Some of the new developments.

I know they said they saw that the, was it, was his name, Wyatt or Evan?

One of those guys, they deleted their IG.

But what happened was is they didn't delete something from threads because IG posts automatically the threads and not everybody uses their thread account.

But this is where

Shannon (host)

I have a thread all the

Ray Nitty (host)

time.

Come on now.

And it automatically posted and you always just end up getting a notification on thread or something.

And that is how that said individual discovered like, dang, I miss some.

And, you know.

The Internet is faster than the average bear.

So they go screenshot screen record and put all the clues together before the actual detects do.

And they showed that.

But you said that was the night before potentially where they was at the pool party.

Shannon (host)

Yeah, so.

I saw that somebody said that but I'm not sure which is true or not because some people are saying that they think there was a photo of him at a pool party with them and they're not sure if that's after they would have come back or

Ray Nitty (host)

before

Shannon (host)

they would have gone to the trip so there's a lot of

confusion around when that photo was taken.

I think some people are thinking it was after.

So it would have made sense for something to happen after they returned back.

And that's why his phone was back because the mom also did say on life 360, the phone was tracked at different locations and stuff like that.

So unless one of the boys was carrying that phone around, I guess it would make sense that he did make it back.

And then they had another party and something happened there.

But it's hard to say.

And then it also would kind of

Makes sense why the dad went searching didn't see the body until It was discovered the next day.

Ray Nitty (host)

So

Shannon (host)

just a lot of it's more questions than answers still

Ray Nitty (host)

Yeah, so once again, we got the question.

Do you all believe that it was foul play?

Do you believe that it was foul play or are you of?

the the mindset that you know, I'm gonna just let the facts roll out a 3 3 2 1 2 10 17, please call or text

that number to let us know your thoughts and we'll stay on that story all week while we wait for the updates of the independent autopsy study to come back.

And if it dropped this week, we'll be extremely, extremely well more informed with.

You know.

How things have been handled.

And once again, just like they said, don't rush to say it's not racist.

What do you say?

Don't rush to say it's racist and also don't rush to say it's not racist.

Intentions could have definitely not been in racism, but seemingly how things are being handled could have some racial undertones.

Just my opinion and what we say to views and opinions expressed.

on this show does not directly I

Shannon (host)

think we can I think we can call it a fact actually because

Ray Nitty (host)

when it

Shannon (host)

comes to first of all even when there's not white people involved when there comes to black kids missing or dead

Normally, there's not really deep investigations.

When you see somebody killed even in the inner city of Milwaukee, they're like, oh, it must have been gang violence.

Oh, somebody stole something.

There's not really an investigation to see what actually happened, because everybody feels like they can just chop it up to this, even when young girls, like we discussed before, come up missing.

They're not,

Ray Nitty (host)

they don't

Shannon (host)

take it as seriously as a young white girl because they just think, oh, well, she probably ran away.

It should be back

Ray Nitty (host)

or

Shannon (host)

she probably out there being trafficked.

And like that ain't a crime in itself.

But a lot of times when our kids go missing or end up dead, investigations aren't taken as seriously in their rush.

And then when you add that other layer of the friends being white, people

are more, I think they have a tendency to just take their word for it and go about their day.

And then you have that layer of their parent meeting from families with some type of background in law or whatever else, you know what I'm saying?

They have weight in the community.

So, so now you got another thing stacked against you because they don't want to make their family look bad.

They don't want their kids to go to jail, whatever the case may be.

So like I said, it might not be rooted.

Whatever happened may not have been rooted in racism, but it's a fact that our kids go missing all the time or end up dead all the time and investigate.

Investigations don't happen that are thoroughly done or taken serious.

Like, I think it's just a case of case closed.

OK, bye.

Moving on.

Ray Nitty (host)

Right.

Right.

100 percent.

Before we transition, we have a text that came in and said, keep in mind.

He had a white girlfriend and white men feel very powerless because of the black man's power tool.

Oh my God.

Well, we know who sent that text.

Yeah.

Look at the black man, finesse, charisma, and the things that comes from him.

He said the black man power tool.

Shannon (host)

Like, like we said, it'd be the jealousy be weird because even like.

My nephew, he's just graduated high school, but I remember him like playing like we know how Wisconsin get down We know that and I remember my sister saying he was playing against Some white kids and they wearing Cardi's they listen in the chicken pee and all this and that and at

Ray Nitty (host)

the end of the

Shannon (host)

game they making monkey noises like excuse me like so

Ray Nitty (host)

man

Shannon (host)

the jealousy be different it's like they be

wanting to be down and cool, but like, once you piss them off, they be like, okay, well, let me use this one thing that I think makes you less than me, at least.

We might not be cool as you, but I can say, ooh, ah,

Ray Nitty (host)

ah, and

Shannon (host)

call

Ray Nitty (host)

you the

Shannon (host)

n-word.

Like, I got you.

Like, look, I thought you wanted to be like us.

No, you know, jealousy looks different for some people.

Ray Nitty (host)

Man, I'm telling you, and then, you know, sometimes you really start to see white people chimpin' out, man.

when they start really acting like... Hey, you know what?

I'm taking that.

I'm taking it from them, man.

They can't have that.

I'm taking it from them.

I'm using it on them.

I'm about to... I'm using it to describe Anglo-Saxon European thug behavior and antics.

Somebody else says, Gary Lawson says, yes, something shady occurred.

Somebody is lying.

But the truth will come out.

My question is the photo that they are showing on the news looks like the young man, the young men were drinking.

Definitely was drinking 100%.

100% they was drinking.

Shannon (host)

And I think that also, like if I'm not mistaken, I didn't see the news story, but I know a lot of people talked about how that was highlighted that.

He was drinking like they didn't even mention that the other boys was drinking like yeah, it looks like he know

Ray Nitty (host)

No one

Shannon (host)

has the drink in his hand.

Yeah, like of course y'all trying to highlight that though because they do little things like that to kind of set the scene like he probably was drunk just in case he probably was drunk

Ray Nitty (host)

and tried to swim if

Shannon (host)

y'all want to use that I'm saying like they try to make sure they place those words in

Ray Nitty (host)

certain

Shannon (host)

ways to make sure they have somewhere to land if it if the outcome

You know what I'm saying?

It's kind of sketchy.

Well, he probably was drunk or like, why does it matter?

There is the fourth they they young adults and they're they're drinking.

That's what they do.

But pointed out for what?

You know what I'm saying?

Like it makes a lot of it brings up a lot of questions.

Ray Nitty (host)

Man, 100, 100, 100 percent.

You even had people using AI.

This is where AI is dangerous, right?

Where people were using AI to edit out.

the drinks in the other guy's hands, but leave it in Nolan's hand.

You know what I mean?

So this is where we got to be careful too on, say it, Shannon.

Shannon (host)

It's the small things and it's those unconscious, right?

Is it unconscious biases that we have?

But I don't think that's what you was, I don't think that's what you, what do you want me to do?

But I was just thinking, that's what

Ray Nitty (host)

I was thinking.

No, no, no, I thought you was about to say two things can be true.

That's what I thought you'd get

Shannon (host)

ready for.

Oh, yeah.

Two things can be true at once for sure.

But that's where I was going.

I was like, it makes you like, they set the stage for certain things like propaganda.

Look, here I go.

But propaganda was set up in a way where like, you wouldn't even realize like what they was doing until,

Ray Nitty (host)

you

Shannon (host)

know what I'm saying?

Until the damage is done.

Like, I'm taking away the drinks from those kids' hands and keeping it in his

Ray Nitty (host)

hands.

I'm

Shannon (host)

bringing up the fact that he was drinking like little stuff like that.

Like, you don't realize that you.

They shaping a story for you.

Ray Nitty (host)

Yep.

100%.

Gary, we see you on the call line.

We will get to you right after this short break on the award winning Truth 101 7 FM.

What up, y'all?

What up, y'all?

Welcome back to the lunch break with Ray Nitty and maybe Shannon.

Shannon (co-host)

Yay.

Host

On the award

Shannon (co-host)

winning.

I

Host

ain't even gonna try to finish it and mess it up, Zack.

And you have to?

One on one.

Seven.

FM, the truth.

No.

Shannon (co-host)

Wait, what is it?

One on one, seven, the truth.

No, the truth when I was

Host

seven.

It's backwards.

We're saying it back.

Well, I'm saying it backwards.

Is we got award winning down.

Benjamin, we're going to work on it, man.

Been been taking notes.

Like, Mr. Burns.

Hmm.

Yes, notes.

We about to we about to get to Gary.

on this topic, expand on the bear comments.

Gary, how you doing?

You live on the truth.

Gary (caller)

All right.

How's it going?

Host

It's going well.

It's going well.

Talk to us.

How are you feeling?

Yeah,

Gary (caller)

I'm a first.

I'm a first time caller to the new program and you guys are doing a great job.

It's good to hear some some young voices because that's what we need to hear from my from my from my youth.

Host

Say that one more time.

Say that one more time.

Some young voices.

Gary (caller)

Yeah, I know that's right.

Yes.

Absolutely right.

I'm a member of Black Men Organized.

I'm a co-chair of the Education Committee.

And I also work with the Running Rebels.

And we're really trying to highlight the youth and get the youth boys out there, you know, because it's important.

I just retired as a principal with NPS, man.

And I know the needs of our youth.

Our youth are going to be important to our future, extremely important.

But I wasn't trying to, what I was saying about the beer part is I was, let me clarify.

is that in the photo that they, I watched the world news every night at that 530.

And the photos that they've shown, you got two of the white guys holding, looks like a beer can.

The young black, the young black man, he didn't have a, he didn't have a beer in his hand, but two of the white, white youth have beers in their hand.

Now, if they weren't 21 or above.

That's that's against the law.

First of all,

Host

you know,

Gary (caller)

I'm saying that's against the law.

But and I know we don't hear anything.

But I wonder what are the consequences for them?

Because it's clear they have beers in their hand.

It's not an assumption.

It's not something that somebody's making up.

But it's fair in a picture.

So what are the consequences for these two young men drinking beer?

Host

Yeah, underage drink

Gary (caller)

no one alcohol is right.

And you know, alcohol is involved.

And they always tell you, don't be around water.

especially large bodies of water if you're consuming alcohol.

Host

Hmm.

Yeah.

Yeah.

100%.

100%.

That

Gary (caller)

was my point.

Not that I'm not that I'm trying to highlight saying, oh, yeah, the black, the black kid was drinking beer because we don't know that because in the photo, he didn't have a beer can in his hand.

Host

Correct.

Correct.

Thank you, Gary.

Gary (caller)

That might be that.

Yeah, you're welcome.

Host

Thank you.

Thank you, Gary.

A long time caller on the truth.

We definitely appreciate those words.

of encouragement as well.

Me and Shannon definitely, truly, truly appreciate those words.

It's always good to hear that people, you know, they feeling what we doing up here.

Shannon, they picking up what we putting down.

Shannon (co-host)

Definitely, definitely appreciate that.

And I definitely get what he's saying, because like we said, if it was the other way around them kids, they would have been at least held accountable for drinking.

Like, why were y'all underage drinking?

We need to talk.

Like, there would have been some type of consequences and it would have been, the heat would have been on them.

So.

Host

Definitely the heat would have definitely been on them as we pivot, man.

Once again, keep our Nolan's family in the prayers as they go through a very, very difficult, difficult time.

As we pivot, Shannon, we want to talk about Andrew Gillum.

Another fall.

Shannon (co-host)

Tell me about Andrew Gillum, because

Host

is this a man still fight?

Shannon (co-host)

That sounded like some beauty in the black.

Netflix series, like please explain what was going on here.

You said two men in a cup and a...

Host

I did not say that.

Oh my God.

That is insane.

Oh my God.

Two men in a cup.

That is... All right, y'all.

That's the show.

Don't

Shannon (co-host)

go anywhere.

Host

Manon, you got an extra half hour.

Hold on.

Let me pull up this

Shannon (co-host)

outro

Host

out of

Shannon (co-host)

here.

He

Host

said outro music not the video he said outro music wrap this up

Shannon (co-host)

All

Host

right y'all thank you for nah, we just playing but um We want to talk about Andrew Gillum and another follower man still fighting if you're not familiar with Andrew Gillum he ran for office in

What year was that?

I can't remember what year it was, but he was running running for office Got the one to say was governor.

I feel like it was governor and in Florida and he got caught in a hotel room with a male and Context, you know, he's married with kids and so forth.

So he ended up having to fall out that race

And at first people thought it was a setup, right?

People were like, oh, he was about to win this race.

It was an important race.

And people was saying like, oh, they set him up and he fell for it and so forth, Shannon.

But they caught him in there with drugs, all types of stuff, man.

And I didn't, I wasn't up on what he has been doing, but supposedly he has a podcast now with Angela Rye.

And recently,

He got caught again on July 2 10 45 p.m.

in Daphne, Alabama on police pulled Gilman over 46 for driving erratically on us 94 officers spotted glass pipe on the console Jesus Even trying to hide it Search the car reports finding rolled rolled marijuana cigarettes and three packages testing positive for methamphetamine

Now formally charged, one felony count of possession of a control substance, meth plus Mr. Mina, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into Daphne City Jail and has since been released.

No public statement from Gilman yet.

Once again, he was former Tallahassee mayor in 2014 to 2018, lost to 2018 Florida governor's race to Ron DeSantis.

So if you know about Ron DeSantis, he's wreaking havoc right now in Florida.

So this stems from way back then when they were trying to, you know, win that race in Florida.

He lost by fewer than 34,000 votes.

Less than half a percent from becoming Florida's first black governor, currently co-host of the Native Land podcast with Angela Rye and Bakari Sellers.

They also won the twenty five twenty twenty five.

NAACP Image Award for outstanding news and information.

So, here it is.

This guy has seemingly made it.

He wasn't caught with a man this time.

Wasn't caught with a man this time, Shannon.

Shannon (co-host)

Two men, two men.

Host

No, two packs of the math.

Jesus.

Shannon (co-host)

They say he had two men in that hotel,

Host

so he was not

Shannon (co-host)

caught with two men.

Host

Okay, so yeah, back then it was 2,000 tents.

Shannon (co-host)

That

Host

man

Shannon (co-host)

was having a parlay.

I'm

Host

sorry.

This was doing the race too, bro.

What are you doing?

Shannon (co-host)

Dude.

And then they said the two men, one of whom needed medical attention for a drug overdose.

Host

I think that's what and how to end it up called discovering the bodies.

Not like the naked body.

You know what?

Pivot.

Yeah, it was two men Shannon and now today He wasn't caught with two men, but he was caught with two bags of meth and so forth interesting take right Going back to hypocrisies and so forth.

Um, you have Angela Rye Who's a very very?

intelligent well-spoken Black women super super intelligent on a lot of political topics and so forth

And her take has kind of been like, yeah, we need to give him privacy and grace and and, you know, so forth and not publicly talk about these things because.

Because he has kids, he has a family and so forth, right?

And I don't know, I feel like.

Or is that a double standard?

Is this similar to the JZ effect where it's like, I, cause Angela and I, I respect her dearly.

Anybody else, you know, had it been DeSantis, you know, we all would have been talking about this.

We all would have been talking about this because this is the same thing y'all did to Gillum for what, you know what I'm saying?

And, you know, we wouldn't have been like, yeah, give DeSantis.

of privacy and grace, we gonna drag it to hell.

You feel what I'm saying?

So what you think, Shannon, does he deserve privacy or are we being hypocritical if we're not discussing these type of things?

Shannon (co-host)

He deserve a nice stand in a rehabilitation center.

That's what he deserve.

Um, I think privacy is hard to come by when you are in a public position.

Um, and I think that's expected.

Like when you do something like have a podcast, even if you do something as small as have an Instagram that's public, you know what I'm saying?

Like you have to expect people to judge you and to talk about whatever it is you got going on.

Once you, you put yourself out there as such.

it's almost like free, free game.

You know what I'm saying?

Then,

Host

like, for him

Shannon (co-host)

to have a podcast and, you know, going on, like, I'm sure they talk about people, people issues all the time.

Host

I don't know

Shannon (co-host)

exactly what they talk about.

But I mean, we, we not safe.

We, we talk about things that affect other people and we might not have ill intention, but we talk about it.

And if it's out there, people gonna talk about it.

So I think that's, um,

Not a realistic ask.

And I also feel like he need help because

Host

this

Shannon (co-host)

man was caught with two pipes, two chains, two men.

Like, come on, man.

Like, he need help.

He needs to be held accountable.

Sweeping stuff under the rug ain't never helped nobody.

We talked about that before.

Hiding stuff ain't going to make nothing better.

Them kids know what daddy doing.

If he's smoking meth, I'm sure they know daddy ain't right.

Host

Yeah,

Shannon (co-host)

that's uh

Host

That's all that's intense man.

So we know two truths right before we get to break we know two truths accountability He was allegedly driving erratically at night that endangered other people And they saying all he charismatic and got great history, but you know history doesn't erase a felony charge truth to Shannon Kind of looks like a relapse as you stated where he may need some actual more help

and relapse is part of how addiction works.

He told us in 2020 he was battling depression and substance abuse when all of that stuff came out.

Recovery is rarely a straight line.

The question isn't how could he?

It's who's around him and is he getting real help?

Shannon, you feel what I'm saying?

Because that was a very highly publicized situation when that happened back in...

2022 when he got caught with the two guys and the drugs and whatnot.

But when we get back on the lunch break, we'll talk more about the bigger lens with this.

And then we will close out with something me and Shannon was talking about, man.

Can you be with the guy that is responsible for his grandmother, his mom, his, you know, he's a go to.

Ray Nitty (host)

person for all the women in this family.

Don't go anywhere you are listening to the truth on the 170 family.

What up y'all welcome back welcome back Welcome back welcome back to the award-winning 101 the truth The award-winning 101 the truth we're Ray nitty and maybe Shannon That's his I got typed out.

I typed out what you said You said

Shannon (host)

I

Ray Nitty (host)

said one on one seven the truth I heard one on one

I did it like you

Shannon (host)

said it this time.

I got it.

I got it right

Ray Nitty (host)

here.

I read it.

I read it.

How y'all doing, y'all?

We are back on the award winning 1017.

The truth with Ray Nitty and maybe Shannon.

Man, we're closing out this second hour, man.

Talking about Andrew Gillum.

Andrew Gillum.

Bigger land, Shannon.

What do we do with fallen black leaders?

We crown fast and bury faster.

How do we hold space for redemption arcs in music versus politics?

How do we hold redemption arcs in music versus politics?

Why do we crown our black leader so fast and bury him even faster?

We have a short fuse for our political leaders.

What's your thoughts on that, Shannon?

Shannon (host)

I think when you're a political leader, you are naturally held to a higher standard or you should be.

Should be.

held to a higher standard.

We see what we're dealing with right now, but that's another story.

They got the complexion for protection.

They can do hoodwrap things with a hoodwrap friends and get away with it.

And I think that's another layer as to why people bury so quickly because they feel like, you know, we are also black.

And not only because you're a political leader, we are holding you to a higher standard, but because you are black and we feel like you have to represent for all of us, we

Told you the high regards.

So when they do have a misstep and they do a fumble, I think a lot of people take that Personally and they they feel like we believed in you and you let us down and I think that's what that that is honestly Yeah, yeah put the banner up.

Do you see that?

The war winning one oh one seven the truth.

SPEAKER_??

Yeah

Ray Nitty (host)

Man, I agree with you Shannon.

What's clear here in his case is he definitely has a problem as you stated and we definitely hope he has gotten all the help that he needs because addiction is no joke.

It is a long process for folks that struggle with this and it's not something we will, you know, take lightly.

or joke about or, you know, we hope that he gets the help that he needs and deserves, and he could get back to his place of grace.

Moving on, Shannon.

Shannon (host)

I feel like...

Ray Nitty (host)

Go ahead, I'm sorry.

Shannon (host)

Yeah, no, I was just gonna say, I also just feel like, like you said earlier, it just takes being around the right people too.

And a lot of times, like, even when we hold them to such a high standard, a lot of times we just...

Also become yes, man.

So it's like Some people ain't around strong people that are like yo you tripping you need this help and Let's lift you up.

It's just yes.

Yes.

Yes until things is so bad.

It's hard to come back from it.

So

Ray Nitty (host)

Dig it 100% some things are harder to come back from I didn't even know he came back with the podcast Sir Chauncey says rub it in not run

It in previous texts sent.

Oh, OK, OK, I was

Shannon (host)

like,

Ray Nitty (host)

well, we go with this truth, nation.

I

Shannon (host)

don't

Ray Nitty (host)

see the.

Oh, you must

Shannon (host)

have

Ray Nitty (host)

sent the text.

We got a text coming.

But I will also say white people are not bad, but you have to.

Watch them watch them just like they watch us on everything we do.

We live in peace and harmony.

If something shady occurs, somebody is lying.

The truth will come.

Yeah, that's what they're talking about.

Ah, before we close, Shannon, man, you made a funny post to me.

Shannon said she is not dating the family.

She said she is not dating the family's go-to guy, meaning the guy that, you know, if he got to take care of his mama, his grandmother, his sisters, his aunties, if they call him for everything, he is not in the program.

How do y'all feel about

Shannon (host)

that

Ray Nitty (host)

man?

Why, Shannon?

He's a hard worker.

He cares about the women

Shannon (host)

in his life.

Man, please.

Go ahead.

Talk to me, Shannon.

Married

Ray Nitty (host)

him.

Married him is crazy.

What's wrong,

Shannon (host)

Shannon?

This is how I look at it, right?

I am completely for helping your family out, looking out for your people that are around you, period.

But when it comes to, like, the way it was worded is, like, he takes care of them.

Like, this is who they come to all the time.

My thing is, like, why aren't they self-sufficient enough to pay their own bills and take care of themselves?

That's crazy to me.

I feel like this is a deeper conversation because if you have to go to him for bills, cars, this and this and that, if we get married, I ain't gonna have nothing.

That'd be the problem with a lot of people.

People take on...

on everybody else grown adults problems in their family and they end up with nothing.

When you are the yes man in your family, you end up with nothing because you taking care of everybody else but your soul.

And that's in general.

So no, I don't want to marry a yes man that take care of everybody because then I'm going to be left behind.

Ray Nitty (host)

Well.

We will bring this topic back tomorrow because I don't think we're talking about just a yes man, Shannon.

We're talking about a man that is responsible and takes care of the women in his family that he loves and cares

Shannon (host)

about.

Ray Nitty (host)

Responsible.

And just because he's taking care of the women in his family, Shannon, in my opinion, that don't mean he don't got time to take care of you.

Just a thought,

Shannon (host)

Shannon.

This ain't the Brady

Ray Nitty (host)

Bunch.

We gon' talk about this tomorrow for sure, Shady.

Because at UW-Milwaukee, students don't have to wait until college to start building their

Shannon (host)

future.
