Well, Dave, I see you have your, uh, your notes, your digital notes, uh, I do, um, must be a big
day. Well, I got to talk about prohibition night a little bit. That's right. Which is coming up.
But first, um, did you, uh, did you hear about the band, the bear that robbed the bank last week?
I did not. Yeah. Grizzly bear. He came in, guns of blazing, said, give me all your money.
The teller threw his hands up in the air said, don't shoot. The bear coward said, how did you get
so tall? Oh my goodness. Let me guess. Too bad Dan. Uh, it should have been too bad Dan. But, uh,
no, I, I heard that one, uh, from, I think Walter over at the public house. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Tuba would make it a little dirty. Tuba. Yeah. It would, it would probably not be radio friendly.
Yeah. We have the, uh, the tavern version and then the beer life and food chat version of it.
Yes. So how is your week? We had a beautiful start to it. Oh, man. We, we went over to, uh,
I took the girls. I said, we're playing hooky today. And we went over to devil's lake on Monday.
Oh, that had to be beautiful. Oh, it was fantastic. Was the lake open?
Is it getting close? It was, it was, there were parts. There was someone actually in the water
are we back? Really? Yeah. Which was crazy. Yeah. Um, but no, it was still, there was still a lot of ice,
but it was cool because when you got up on the cliffs, uh, you could see all the cracks in the ice,
you know, like all the lines and, um, yeah, it was, it was 70, uh, beautiful. We hiked
all the way around the lake. I took both my daughters and my wife. Uh, the first half went great.
And then, uh, then we had to climb up because it's 500 feet of elevation climb each time. And, uh,
I almost lost my youngest daughter. Oh, we almost had to leave her behind. But, you know,
we went there on, uh, it was back in high school on a field trip. And, uh, I started hiking.
Uh, never got to, to do the whole round the lake deal because, uh, well, let's just put it
this way. I had something that didn't agree with my stomach. Oh, so I, no, they had the little
wooden outhouse there. And then it was back on the school bus for Jay Ray. Yeah, it's funny.
I, uh, we were going around. And I think I've been there, I don't know, three or four times,
um, I've hiked. This was the first time I think that we hiked all the way around. Yeah, how long
is that? It's, it's about five miles. They said, okay, what's that? It's not, it's not terrible
distance-wise, but it's, I mean, it's a hike up and down and then, um, but what's funny, though,
is so we're hiking along. And there's the two famous landmarks, a balancing rock and then the
devil's doorway. Mm hmm. And I think I've been there four times. I've never seen the devil's
doorway. Oh, really? Yeah, I missed it. I'm, you know, there wasn't. Is it easy to, to walk right
by? I don't know. Like, um, I think I was just, I was waiting for the sign, you know, and I never
saw the sign. And then I knew in the general area where it was, but then we got all the way down and
there was no devil's doorway. It was, it was between those ice shoves. Yeah. Yeah.
Gonna have to go back and, uh, win a bago's, uh, getting some pretty good shoves here the other day
with the Northeast winds. And I mean, it looks like, uh, mountains out in the middle on the reefs.
Really? Yeah. Yeah. A lot of it opened up, uh, some of the bays and the sea bass opened up by me
there. Sure. But, uh, now what they're saying for, you know, Sunday night into Monday is, man, I
saw that. Is that real? It's real. I thought it was an April fools rule. That's what it's not.
Like, I was watching it last week, uh, earlier this week. And you know, it was like three inches
Saturday, four inches Sunday. And then I looked at it yesterday morning. Mm-hmm. And I,
they're like, I had to do a double take. They're saying, well, we're just going to start at 12
inches and go from there. Yeah. Now I don't even, I haven't checked it today. It's, don't even talk
about it. But the good news is, uh, it's on Sunday, the majority of like sat like something morning.
So you can still come out to Canoothbury. That's right. Yeah. That's right. Get your
blue light blonde, uh, so talk about prohibition night. Yeah. Prohibition night is, uh, next Saturday.
It's, it's our first ever. We're going to turn the upstairs blossom hops into a speak easy. Yep.
And this is on the 21st. This is on the 21st. Starts at five o'clock. Uh, music will probably
start around six. We've got a 19 20s version of the two fifths band. So it's the two fifths
band. But it's going to be totally different. Um, they, they're in another band. And they play a lot
of, uh, 19 20s New Orleans style jazz, you know, with the plug plunger and the horn. Yeah.
The muted trumpet stuff. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, so that's going to be going on probably sixth to
ninth. Um, flapper wearer is, is encouraged. So, you know, get out your flapper jazz. Yeah.
So I've got it all. It's at the dry cleaners right now. Um, and then you do, you do have to pay
attention because there is a password required. So that we've had some people ask is I've been
mentioning it on air and in, let's say they don't have a social media account. Sure. Are you
still allowing them? Well, we accept bribes. Okay. You know, as any, as any good speak easy,
we'll do sure. Yeah. Yeah. We accept bribes. Tell, tell our listeners how you're typically going
to handle it though. Um, so typically, uh, you'll, and, and we're still working out the, but next
week, you'll start to see if you follow our social media, you'll start to see some clues. Yep.
And, and, uh, you'll see some of the cocktails that we're mixing up. Um, I can tell you, like,
we've got one, it's called the Gilded Age. It's like our take on an IPA French 75. So it's, um,
gin lemon juice, simple syrup. And then normally you would top that with, uh, champagne.
Okay. But we're going to be topping it with our IPA. That's right. I remember saying that. Yep.
Yeah. And then we've got the bootlegger shandy with, which is, uh,
blot blonde and ginger beer. Or actually, I think we'll do pills there on that one. You could do
either one. Yeah. Um, and then we've got the Queen Mary, which is, uh, which is beer, um,
cherry juice, and then, uh, a little bit of simple syrup. Okay. And then we've got some cool
cocktails. We've got the, the bees knees. Have you ever had one of those? Yeah. I've heard of it.
I don't think I've ever had. So it's an old one. Bees knees is, uh, gin fresh lemon and, uh,
some local honey. And then you throw that in the cocktail. Yes. Some of that was actually,
when we talked about it last week, it was almost like medicine. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You look at this.
Oh, it's still this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That hasn't changed. It hasn't changed. Yeah.
I mean, whether it's, whether it's to keep the cold away or to keep your sanity. Yeah. That's
true. We still need beer. That's very true. I'm still going on what 23 days sober. No? Yeah.
Doing good. Yeah. Easter is going to be my new favorite holiday. This one is that one. Is that
one that? Is that the goal? That's the goal. Okay. Easter Sunday. All right. A man in his
goal. Man in his goal. If you don't hear me on Monday of that week, that's what happened. Yeah.
But hope for bloodies never came home. Yeah. Well, you'll have that right. So I didn't interrupt you
on anything else. No, um, you know, we're good. So follow social media. You'll get some clues.
You'll get some hints. Um, and then of course comes Saturday night. Uh, there will be a separate
entrance. Um, so you can, you can either, you know, well, you'll have to pay attention to that. But,
okay. But our, our, our bartenders downstairs will make sure to direct you. Perfect. Well,
that'll be interesting. It'll be fun. We're excited. It's first time we've ever done this thing.
I was going to say I don't remember anyone in this area doing any type of prohibition. Yeah.
So yeah. And then next week, uh, we're going to have it's, I mean, we were going to do it this
week, but, uh, it didn't feel right with, with the weather that's coming. But, um, my
is ready. Yeah. You're spring. Yeah. So my back, uh, we're planning to release that next week,
which is our German springtime logger. And next week forecast looks pretty good. Yeah.
Four seasons sunny. Certain to kind of come out of it. Yeah. Um, you know, I was watching, uh,
there's a, there's a brewers documentary. Have you seen, um, it's about the Harvey's wallbangers,
the 82 season. I haven't watched it. I just started and, um, in that 82 season, you know,
when's opening day, April 11th or something? Yeah. First two days snowed out. Yeah.
I'm just thinking, man, because we just delivered our first, uh, today, we're actually,
we're taking up our first order for the Timberrallers, because they're starting, you know, in,
in a, they want to get everything ready. So yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then it's come.
A few. You got a sample. Yeah. Anything else? Any live entertainment this weekend?
Not this weekend, but, but next weekend in this, uh, and then the weekend after that. And then,
oh, you should, you should just pencil in, um, masters weekend, uh, second weekend in April,
we, we will be doing the brew masters, putting challenge again. Okay. Yeah. We should be dug up.
Lots of stuff going on down at the old brewery. Contact info, Dave. Uh, 748, 518,
keeper between the lines.
