Holiday Hijinks (Hour 2)

John & Gordy · Wed Dec 24, 2025

Mom, Dad, get up!

Come on, you guys!

Wake up!

Wake up!

It's Christmas morning!

Let's open up our presents!

Well, I got an earth gun.

I got a hat.

I got an autographed baseball bat.

I got a telescope.

I got a globe.

I got a watch.

And I got a robe.

I

got

a hawk hand.

I got a tie.

so much.

You guys really didn't need to get

me.

Get her more than one present.

Mom's like stuff

too

Happy Christmas Eve morning.

I know can you imagine?

We promised that we wouldn't work on Christmas Eve morning

But here we are after all it's John and Gordy and

We're live in downtown Madison

at our

home studios here on WMDX.

Happy morning to you.

It's 26 degrees.

Highs about 40 today.

And maybe some drizzle along the way later.

You think so?

Yeah.

It's gonna be nice and warm

today again.

Yeah, I'm gonna start my Christmas shopping right after the show.

Haven't done anything on that yet.

Dom, have you,

what

have you

done?

Yesterday, I finished my last present.

I wrapped my last present yesterday night.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten any presents so far.

There are a

lot of bargains to

last for

that.

I find it a little unsettling.

I don't have that many people to shop for.

Talk about a little pressure, I mean, right?

Is that the reason why you...

Wait till the last minute.

No.

The pressure helps you make a decision much quicker, faster.

No, no,

no.

I find it very amusing to go from store to store and see all these guys walking around, vacant eyes, stunned.

So that's it.

It's all the last

minute

shoppers and it's usually guys and they have no idea.

Everybody's just walking around in a daze.

What do I get?

What's on sale?

I

don't know.

I should get something.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And

it's kind of fun.

I mean a couple days ago I was walking around the Westtown Mall just aimlessly just trying to see what store I can actually just go and buy stuff

at.

Yeah, I know, going into the mall, right?

And then that would

be kind of a fun thing to do again, at least this time of the year.

All the decorations are up and people are walking around in their Christmas outfits, you know, on display.

I'll probably go to Easttown Mall today and maybe go to Spencer's and get some gag gifts.

Oh yeah, Spencer's a great place for that stuff.

My

son and daughter.

grandkids.

Yeah.

Gone.

What the hell is going on?

No, no, this is this damn thing.

Your laptop.

Why don't you turn the sound off?

I'm just trying to copy something here.

It just keeps starting up as I copy it.

That's tight.

I'm ready to walk.

Well, this is our last morning show

of the year.

It is.

It is.

And

then we're off for a couple of weeks.

And then we'll be back with new shows early January, I think January 5th, I think.

January 5th.

Is that a Monday?

Yes, that is a

Monday.

Yeah.

So, uh, you're gonna do some traveling or do anything?

Are you gonna go anywhere?

Uh, no.

I know Dom's leaving right after the show.

Really?

Chicago, right?

Yeah, and I plan on leaving at 10 and getting there around 12, 12 and 1 o'clock.

Really?

So, yeah.

Wow.

Big family

gathering?

Your place?

Yeah.

Your folks' place?

Yeah, they're already gonna be there when I get there.

Really?

So, I'll be late to the party, but... Oh, well, they'll...

Welcome you with open arms.

Ever since I went to Wisconsin, they've been, they hate me, you know?

They don't trust me anymore, you know?

I don't know what it

is.

Really, are we that bad up here?

We

have that

kind of reputation.

I've been trying to, you know, tell them Wisconsin's really good, you know?

I plan on staying here for a while, you know?

They're like, ah, you shouldn't do that.

So how how many people in your family what do you got a couple of you got a brother and a sister brother and sister And then I'm gonna have a few cousins come in as well as you know my grandma grandma gramps.

Yeah

Wow Big family gathering

huge

good.

That's good John.

How about you are you

well?

We already had our little Christmas get together So now it'll just be the family in relations to my wife.

She she and the family always

have these big celebrations.

Do they gather at

your house or

at my wife's

mom's

house?

Yeah, that'll be nice.

Yeah.

And me, well, I'll be going

to my sister.

I'm going to my sister.

Oh, wait, you get along

with your sister really well now.

So that's fantastic to hear.

Yeah, my sister Sue in Reedsburg.

Yeah, I have a

sister Sue.

Yeah, I know.

It's one thing we haven't gotten.

Yeah, and her husband and then her three kids.

And then their kids, I think she has five grandkids.

But they're all sort of grown up.

The last ones, one or two of them are still in high school, but the rest of them are all...

I think the thing you should

try to do, Gordy,

is try to convince your sister's kids.

Right.

to be more liberal and accepting of people.

Well,

you

know, I've tried that.

And

it

starts a lot of tension.

It

does, I bet.

I bet it does.

At her place, everybody leaves politics at the door, you know.

There is one.

Oh, they do.

Yeah.

There's one member of the family, he and I.

We don't agree on much, but we put that aside, you know, during the holidays.

You leave him at the door, is that politics?

He's the

politics.

No.

He's at the door.

We just, you know, I mean, we agree to disagree.

That's it.

We don't really talk politics.

We learned a long time ago that it's not good for either one of us to get into it.

And

he's a good guy.

Yeah, I like him.

So he doesn't believe.

You, when you say that he's an idiot,

right?

He doesn't

believe you.

We don't call names.

You know,

that's one of the things in our family.

There's no name calling.

Oh, okay.

Who's the member of the family?

He might be listening and I don't want to start anything.

He's a good guy.

I like him.

You know, we actually, as long as we agree to not talk about politics, we get along fine.

In fact, we end up...

talking to each other more than anybody else.

Nobody else wants to

talk to either of us.

We're

both kind of on the outside looking in, so we have bonded in that respect.

So you talk about some of the do-it-yourself projects around the house, that's great.

You could look for the song from Spooner, member of the family.

All right, just a little celebration there of the family getting together.

Hey, we've got our early morning

caller

Matt from Middleton who is on the line this morning.

Good morning, Matt.

Happy Christmas Eve morning to you.

Yes.

Hey, good morning.

Same to you guys.

I hope you enjoy your break.

You've earned it.

Thank you, Civic Media for another good year.

Thank you.

Helping us all stay sane in this mad, mad world of ours.

I know.

It's crazy.

Yeah.

So I thought I would comment today on this Jake Paul Anthony Joshua fight that I watched the video on YouTube.

And what I thought was interesting was here we are in this MAGA movement that is now deciding whether or not to go full Nazi or just be Christian nationalist and extremely cruel to people.

And I remember Hitler when

He took his supposedly superior white Aryan athlete to the Olympics and was demolished by Jesse Owens, proving that their entire mythology of white superiority was nothing but a myth and really stupid.

So here we have a European black man who not only destroyed the MAGA, Jake Paul.

He

made him look like a complete fool.

He was clowning.

He broke him down to childlike behavior as his entire fantasy psychology crumbled and his jaw was broken in two places

and

I loved every

second of

it.

Was it

really?

His jaw was broken?

Actually, I'm kind of watching that video right now.

There was something like 33 million viewers.

Wow.

Yeah, he destroyed the guy psychologically physically in every way and I loved it.

Yeah,

yeah watching maga collapse right now Yeah, it's all built on fantasy mirage propaganda.

Hmm.

And it's not gonna last much longer.

So

yeah, thank you for that Well, that's your prediction.

That's great.

Yeah Well, let's hope that's true You know after all they have been revealed to be liars about the trove of information and files from Epstein

They said there weren't any.

I'll never forget that.

No, we got nothing.

There's nothing there.

I don't know what you're talking about.

There's nothing.

We've got nothing.

We were just mistaken.

We thought we had some files.

We could not find any.

And now, of course, we're being flooded by them.

Right.

Yeah.

And remember, Trump said he was never on Epstein's plane.

Right?

Well, yes, he was.

Like eight

or ten times.

I forget what the what the latest number is, but they've proven that with flight logs and everything else that's coming out.

Yeah, it's going to be it's going to be like

this for a while.

Well, you know, the problem is that a lot of the magas will not hold him accountable for any of the lies, anything that he said.

They don't care.

No.

They just, that's just, it's not on their radar, it doesn't matter.

Even though they did care, they wanted those files revealed, simply because they wanted to tag maybe Clinton or some other Democrat.

But, you know, they didn't think...

Well, they didn't think Epstein and Trump were friends.

They didn't believe it, even though there were photos of them and videos of them.

Constantly, that one video where they're just, you know, standing there talking and kind of joking around.

I

don't know, that was pretty obvious to me.

It's a Trump, it was a passenger on Epstein's private jet at least eight times.

Eight times, okay.

Yeah, and I think

Marjorie Taylor Greene is still, she's had a couple of comments in the last couple of days.

We'll find those, but she's definitely very angry about what she's seeing in the Epstein files.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah.

And, well, anyway, we're just getting started on this, what is this?

It's Wednesday morning, right?

Oh, yeah.

And we've got a lot more straight ahead, including your phone calls if you want to call us.

I

don't know, you know, when you call it Christmas Eve day.

Is that confusing to you?

No, no, it just makes you feel horrible that you're working.

Well, if you say Christmas Eve on the day that you're working, that's not good.

It

shivers,

you know.

Well,

we'll be done

here in a couple hours.

I mean, you know,

we

got the rest of the

day.

We're going to have some fun.

Yes, yes we are.

We got some fun stuff.

Let's listen to

this.

Member of the family.

Spooner.

All right.

Coming right

back.

break the string

Spider-Man, Spider-Man.

That's whatever a

spider can.

Oh,

I think we're back up here.

Any size catches thieves just like flies.

Look out.

Here comes the Spider-Man.

Very

cool.

Guess he's strong, isn't he, buddy?

He's got radioactive blood.

Can he swing up from a thread?

Take a look overhead, head there.

Yeah, baby.

There goes the Spider-Man.

Yeah, man.

Michael Buble.

Doing that

Spider-Man theme.

That's cool.

Well, I know.

You know, I accidentally left without a shirt, so my Spider-Man costume has been revealed.

I am Spider-Man.

You are.

I

didn't

know that.

There it is.

There it is.

My

costume's right here.

I had no idea.

Wow,

I can't

believe it.

If you're watching on YouTube or Facebook, you can see John's Spider-Man

shirt there.

That's cool.

Yeah.

I got my McCartney shirt on today.

Can't really see it.

The tights pinch a little bit sometimes, you know.

Oh, the tights?

I

didn't realize you.

That's what you were wearing.

Oh, yeah,

sure.

All right.

I'm

taking your calls,

608-879-8255.

You can call us or text us on the Civic Media app.

Mark from Prairie to Sex says, wait, what is

he saying?

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right, Burelives.

As the snowman in Rudolph the Red Nose reindeer, he had that song, Silver and Gold.

Can I remember that, Silver and Gold?

Yeah, see if you can capture that.

Find that.

Yeah, it's a nice holiday song.

Wealth.

Silver, Gold.

Yes.

It's

all about the

money.

Man.

Yeah.

Let's see here.

I know.

I'm just scanning through some of the comments.

You can jump on the Civic Media app, send us a text if you'd like.

What do you want

to dig into here?

Well, we're going to get a whole bunch of stories.

We're going to clear out a whole bunch of stories because in a couple of weeks, they're going to be completely irrelevant and have changed totally.

So yeah, we'll see what happens here.

I think we've got Christmas music, holiday music.

What time does that start up today, Dominic?

I think it starts up 12 o'clock midday or afternoon.

Early afternoon.

So you can just put your, you know, set your radio on and listen to the holiday music for tonight, you know, this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow and maybe the next day too.

I'm not sure how long that goes, but we'll be playing that.

And then some of our best of John and Gordy segments that we've had over the last, I don't know, recent past.

What are you checking out there,

buddy?

I'm looking at something I thought is kind of interesting.

You know, I've been marking down all these closures, all these big companies and all the layoffs and partners that are going on.

List

is

growing.

Yeah, that list keeps getting longer and longer.

And I'm looking at this one.

It's a wallmarked executive is telling two

0.1 million workers, nobody will hire you.

That's a nice Christmas message for everybody out there that works in retail.

Merry Christmas.

They have a narrow task skill and that is just helping people buy things.

No one's going to hire you.

One way to encourage people to come to work.

We're hiring you, but that's it, man.

You're done.

After this, you're done.

That's the end of your career.

What a weird thing

to say to people.

Yeah.

Let's go back to the phones.

Mark is on the line from Prairie to Sack.

Good morning, Mark.

Happy holidays.

Well, happy holidays, guys.

Merry Christmas.

Happy New Year.

You know, the British actually might have the right idea.

They spread Christmas all the way out to Epiphany on January 6th.

But I mean, this guy, this Walmart, he kind of blew me away with that comment with this Walmart executive saying, basically, you're basically worth nothing other than working in my

store.

Nobody will hire you.

In fact, it says right here, accepting cruel honesty is a highlight here.

Sugarcoating labor realities encourages complacency.

So nobody will hire you, will actually get your ass off the, I don't know, I don't know, it seems

odd.

I mean, that's just, that's just like Ebony's or Scrooge, I mean, I don't know if Ebony's or Scrooge, I mean, that apparently the Megas admire so much now, that he's just a thrifty businessman, you know, that he, you know, in spite of, you know,

hope.

Yeah.

Nick has described him as bone, you know, more or less bound for hell if he didn't change his greedy ways.

And for like, you're talking about the Epstein files.

Yeah.

And what troubles me there, a great deal is, is for these victims are coming out now.

And they're saying, when is anybody going to do anything for them?

Because

it wasn't

just Epstein.

It wasn't just possibly Donald Trump or, you know, Prince Andrews.

There's dozens, probably dozens and dozens of these rich businessmen that

you know, that used Epstein's quote-unquote services to obtain these young, young, new bile girls for them and that these poor girls are suffering, you know, that from that trauma that they endured under that abuse.

And, you know, these guys, you know, cruise through life and nothing is ever going to happen for them.

You know, they're never going to, these girls are never going to receive justice and see these guys

Actually punished for the crimes that committed against those girls and that And as I said before you know that if Pam Bondi and these people in the Justice Department know what Blanche you know, whatever the you know, Trump's a Todd Blanche and you know the guy that interviewed Jolene Maxwell, I mean that they move her to it to it

Yeah,

more to catch weighty

country club.

Yeah.

Yeah, right.

I

mean,

it is just who's going to speak to those girls?

I know they did the interview on a hot tub.

So that was,

you know, crazy stuff.

Mark, thank you for that call.

We've got the Midwest food and farm report coming up next.

And then we'll be back with the Christmas Eve morning edition of John and Corey special edition.

Oh, yes.

Stay with us.

Silver and gold, silver and gold, means so much more when I sing.

Silver and gold decorations on every Christmas tree.

It's Johnny Gordy in the

morning.

Back at

it.

Chuck Berry.

Run, run Rudolph.

Yep.

Doesn't look like it's going to be a white Christmas this time around.

I know you're disappointed about that, John.

Oh, yeah.

Dominic.

Crying your tears over there.

I'm very sad.

I've got some white icy snow out on the front yard.

I see crappies.

Yeah.

Snirt.

I used to call it a mix of

snow and dirt frozen together.

You weathermen in

your technology.

Snirt.

Yeah.

Um, but today are high about 40 degrees with a lot of cloudiness and maybe a little drizzle here and there.

So

yeah, is it time for idiocracy?

Well, pretty soon here, you know, I just want to finish up on this, uh, this Walmart executive comments, you know, nobody will hire you, he told his employees.

So you're here.

So

they're stuck.

Yeah.

I hate these videos, you know, where there's no narration.

They just have, you know,

Just writing you have to read it, you know, and it has a dumb music behind it But anyway

it

says here research shows uncomfortable honesty can spark proactive behavior like retraining so that's

Essentially what this Walmart executive is trying to

do.

This is like a pep

talk for him.

A little bit of psychology being used here on the 2.1 million workers that they have.

Nobody will hire you.

Wow.

He gets a Scourge Award right out of the gate here at the end of the year.

Will they put up signs that just say that?

No.

This is really something else.

I am absolutely stunned by it.

It

doesn't seem like that would be a good management tactic.

No, you would think

they probably have advised him not to give that particular speech.

He's been waiting for a long time to give that one.

All right, why don't we go ahead and enter into Idiocracy.

Yeah, hit the thing.

As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point.

Intelligence continued to decline until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems.

The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.

No!

You dense, irritating miniature beast of burden!

Idiocracy.

For the

smartest guy in the world, you're pretty dumb sometimes.

Oh yeah.

All right.

Well, I guess we ought to open with with representative Thomas Massey.

Okay.

This war in Venezuela, you know, it's not with congressional approval.

So he's against it.

He doesn't like the idea, you know, no drugs, no weapons of mass destruction.

He, you know, he's really angry about this.

So let's listen to what Thomas Massey had to say about this.

It's got 170.

The

Framers understood a simple truth.

To the extent that war-making power devolves to one person, liberty dissolves.

If the President believes military action against Venezuela is justified and needed, he should make the case and Congress should vote, before American lives and treasure are spent on regime change in South America.

Let's be honest about likely outcomes.

Do we truly believe that Nicholas Maduro will be replaced by a modern day George Washington?

How did that work out?

In Cuba, Libya, Iraq,

or

Syria?

Previous presidents

told

us to go to war over WMDs, weapons of mass destruction that did not exist.

Now it's the same playbook, except we're told that drugs are the WMDs.

If it were about drugs, we'd bomb Mexico.

or China or Colombia, and the president would not have pardoned Juan Orlando Hernandez.

This is about oil and regime change.

There you go.

Who is that again?

That's a Thomas Mass.

Yes.

Yeah, out of Kentucky.

Mm hmm.

So, uh, yeah.

I mean, that's what it's all about.

We heard another explanation similar to that, uh, using, uh,

You know, weapons of mass destruction as a reason to go into war.

And I think that was John Stuart from the Daily Show.

He had that little spiel on it.

So, uh, yeah, everybody's kind of, you know, caught onto

this little trick.

Well, yeah.

And they really want to gear up and, uh, you know, attack Venezuela or Columbia or, you know, let's have a, let's have a military conflict just in time for the new year.

Yeah.

All right.

Well.

You know, this is idiocracy and we've got so much to get

to.

So much

to choose from.

Wipe the slate off here.

We really need to clear through some of this stuff.

There's another one.

Fired up the idiocracy teletype machine.

Changed the ribbon on it last night.

Another new roll of paper.

We go through a ribbon every day.

Never stops.

Yeah, it doesn't stop.

That's the bad thing about teletype.

It just never stops.

Once in a while they get jammed.

You got a mess on

your hands,

but you know going through it, you know picking up all that paper off the floor We used to

go

Yeah, it's calm.

Then

you

had to rip and read.

It was basically rip and read.

That's where that phrase

came from.

That's exactly right.

You

would go through all these rolls of paper and tear off, you know, the stories you needed.

Yeah.

Well, let's get to the right wing podcaster and white man, Matt Walsh.

He says what magas are thinking.

Dei anyone, let's listen to this incredible

speech.

The biggest and most important downstream consequence of this open discrimination against white men is that everything in society gets worse as a result.

That is the second order effect that the compact piece doesn't really get into.

It's the third rail, the part you're not supposed to talk about.

But the truth...

which everybody intuitively knows,

is that

things were a lot better back when white men were not being discriminated against by every institution in the country, but instead were running most of them.

And the fact of the matter is that a hugely disproportionate number of our greatest leaders, innovators, pioneers, explorers, philosophers, and so on, have been white men.

I mean, without white men, we wouldn't have airplanes.

or spaceships, or trains, or phones, or light bulbs, or computers, or the internet, or batteries, or x-ray machines, or jet engines, or rockets, or a thousand other things that our society depends on to exist and to flourish.

Now, these are all facts.

Historical realities that cannot be denied by reasonable people.

It's just true.

And while black women are encouraged to be proud of the historical achievements of black women, whatever those might be,

and Asians to be proud of Asian achievements and Native Americans of Native American achievements and so on.

White men are the one group on the entire face of the planet who've been forbidden to even acknowledge what other white men have accomplished.

Much less to express any pride in it, God forbid.

Instead our society set out on a campaign to punish and exclude and alienate this very group.

That is their reward for having carried the weight of Western civilization on their shoulders.

In fact, in the aggregate, based on every existing piece of available evidence, white men are better at all of these tasks than the allegedly underprivileged communities that are replacing them.

We're going to have to kind of keep that.

clip around.

I had so over the top and so ridiculous and all victim put all over the place.

Yeah.

Yeah.

You know, the thing is, I felt a little angry when I got the memo saying that we are forbidden to talk about the success of white men.

I thought, well, geez, I don't know.

That seems a little

A little too general, you know, a blanket ban on talking about the success of white men.

I was a little angry about that too.

All the white people got

those

memos.

I

have another

cut here and

I'm not quite

sure what's in this, but it's I wrote equal opportunity Commission for white men So let's listen to cut 173 here.

Okay.

Let's

see what this has.

I

don't remember this one.

Let's go for it

I'm Andrea Lucas chair of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Are you a white male who's experienced discrimination at work based on your race or sex?

You may have a claim to recover money under federal civil rights laws.

Contact the EOC as soon as possible.

Time limits are typically strict for filing a claim.

The EOC is the federal agency charged with enforcing federal anti-discrimination law.

against businesses and other private sector employers.

The EOC is committed to identifying, attacking, and eliminating all forms of race and sex discrimination, including against white male applicants and employees.

Check out EOC.gov to learn more and read our one page explainer about DEI-related discrimination.

Well, there you go.

All right.

OK.

Yeah.

We are really getting out there, you know.

Finally, white men

are getting their due.

We got a text from Ronnie in Horokan talking about who was the previous speaker, Matt.

Matt

Walsh.

Matt Walsh.

He never heard of the black women who helped get the men on the moon.

Yeah, remember that

movie?

Yes.

Yeah, that was really interesting.

Yeah, because

they did all the calculations.

They did.

You

know, before, you know, we had computers basically, I mean.

that could do this.

Well, he couldn't reference any exact points about the success of other people in the world.

No, it's all about white men's success.

Right.

By the way, they are forbidden to talk about this.

We got overlooked.

Okay.

Now, you know, promises, promises.

Could we start up that toilet?

Okay.

The news never stops.

24-7.

We're here for you.

Uh-oh.

Put it in the

circular

file.

Let me just rip and read.

Okay.

Can we hear that?

Can we hear that?

Yeah.

There we go.

Special effects, boy.

Have we got them here?

All right.

This is Trump's promise to deliver blue collar jobs.

Oh, good.

Huge boom.

Okay.

Let's check it out.

This is cut 167 from CNN.

Boris and Brianna look candidate Trump.

He didn't just promise to increase blue collar jobs He promised to deliver a blue collar jobs boon

by spiking tariffs, slashing taxes, and making energy cheap again.

But the latest numbers reveal that the exact opposite has happened.

Look, this is the three month average for blue collar jobs.

And you can see that most of them are down, right?

Mining and logging, losing an average of 2,000 jobs per month over the last three months.

Manufacturing down by 6,300 per month.

Transportation and warehousing down even more by 17,000.

The only bright spot here is construction.

which had been losing jobs earlier this year, but it's starting to recover.

Now, when you look at the trend in manufacturing, what really sends out to me is, look, this is basically...

April when the president rolled out his Liberation Day tariffs that were designed to boost manufacturing jobs.

And what you can see is it's really been down ever since then.

In fact, manufacturing employment in the United States is now at a three and a half year low.

So when you look

at this, this does not look like a blue collar jobs boom.

It looks like a job's bust.

So why so much pressure on blue collar jobs?

Yeah, well look, economists point to a number of different reasons, including automation, high interest rates, a shortage of skilled workers, and yes, the president's chaotic tariff and trade policy.

If you look at, this is a monthly look at manufacturing jobs over the last two years.

And so the left side here is 2024.

And you can see there were some job loss last year as well, although there were also some months where manufacturing gained jobs, which stands out is

Recently, really the last seven months in a row, manufacturing jobs are down and against every single month.

And, you know, as the Walmart executive told everybody,

the 2.1 million workers, nobody will hire you, okay?

Our inspiration this morning on this Christmas Eve morning

John

and Gordy in the morning.

Boy, this brings us all down.

It's brutal, man.

Maybe some people like that song.

I don't know.

I don't think so.

I don't think there's anybody that will simply

have me.

Wonderful Christmas time.

Okay, don't underestimate our listeners yet.

Let's go to the phone lines.

We've got Joe on the line.

Oh, yeah.

Welcome,

Joe.

Happy holidays.

Yeah, thank you.

Just one more item for your merch.

store.

I think you should look at the John and Gordy eggnog.

Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Oh, yeah.

John and Gordy eggnog.

Yeah.

Yeah.

You could have special, special bars created where it serves John and Gordy eggnog.

Oh,

that's beautiful.

Yes.

Yes.

A

John and Gordy

eggnog.

What are they called?

Cart.

We can put a cart on.

Let's put a cart together.

Yes.

Yeah, a little pop up cart.

Love it.

That's right.

Yeah.

I love it.

Well, yes, and now that I've given you that wonderful merch idea that you can workshop into the next year, I just wanted to react to...

That previous, um, comment that you had from, I don't know the name of the... Matt Walsh.

Matt Walsh.

Yes, yeah,

Matt

Walsh.

Yeah, the, uh, mind-bending IQ of Matt Walsh.

It truly, truly

is mind-bending.

Well, one of the things that's kind of interesting, um, about this, uh, this effort on the part of the, the administration to say, no DEI, get rid of it, forget it, you know, everybody's going to be judged solely

totally never considered gender, for example, when figuring out who's going to be attending schools.

One of the things that gets interesting about that is the number of women have outnumbered men on college campuses for several decades now.

And there are more women that apply to college than men.

Now, there may be all sorts of reasons why that is, and it's worth parsing that out.

But if you look at it just on this, there's

SAT scores, their ACT scores, and their GPA averages, they don't have the same shine that women do.

So if you do those numbers solely, men are not going to be as well represented in colleges.

So there are a lot of private colleges like Brown, Columbia, Northwestern, places like that that consider gender when they're looking at admissions.

And they said, if you get rid of this, they said, if you eliminate the preference for men, the undergrade population would immediately skew 65% female overnight.

So it's worth looking at that.

And it's worth saying, OK, why is that men are not choosing to go to college?

I mean, that's worth looking at.

And instead of getting this sledgehammer that just

if anything makes the situation worse.

So I thought I'd throw that into the mix.

As we start into the holiday season and to you, I raise a glass of eggnog.

Well, actually not.

It's just a cup of coffee.

But

that's the best thing.

Well, thank you, Joe.

Thanks for being a regular caller, too.

We appreciate it.

We love your input.

Yeah.

All right.

Oh, OK.

But I have to say, though, there have been reports on that.

I've actually watched a little documentary on that.

Not a long one, just a little one.

but about men not going to college.

There are reasons for it, and I can't remember any of the reasons

for it, but they're

gamers,

they're having fun, and they're on

computers and much rather do that than go to college.

So there are a whole bunch of different reasons why they're not going, but women are, and she's right.

You know, if you get rid of DEI, then they won't try to get more men on campus.

See, it works, and not only that.

Yes, they don't see color unless they see the color white.

You know, that's the one they keep bringing up for some reason.

But they don't see color.

That's true.

They don't see anything

but white.

Right.

Right.

Well, I think, you know,

Women see the value of a college diploma still

and you

see the value of education overall Men not necessarily

so

they don't see where the future is going that way.

It's right You know with AI taking over maybe those jobs aren't going to be available And so they're just gaming

and I know the majority of my friends from high school.

Yeah, ended up not going to college really, yeah, majority of my my friends Did they go to vocational schools trade schools?

and things of that nature, or some of them just took a couple years off and, you know.

Partied?

Yeah.

See, I thought maybe because men or teenagers, boys, whatever, getting into gaming and technology building their own computers, you know.

into the gadgets, so to speak.

Right.

I thought maybe they would be more interested in that area, and now they're finding that AI is replacing that particular area of expertise, right?

So maybe that's why they're not motivated now to go into college and get that kind of education so they can go into a technological job of some sort.

It's all

part of that mana sphere, you know, with the boys growing up into men, but kind of just...

sticking to their gang, you know, they're

growing up into men like Matt Walsh.

Whoa.

Yeah, that guy is crazy.

You know, my kids turned me out of these people, these weirdos,

you

know, really?

Yeah.

Don't don't believe anything.

Matt Walsh says, I think, well, who is Matt Walsh?

So I had to watch it and then wow.

We'll take more of your phone calls.

Now's a good time to check in if you want to 608-879-8255 as you get ready to celebrate.

Christmas Eve, Christmas day.

I've got a couple of Gen Z kids around the house.

Yes, you do.

They live there now.

Right.

And my younger one came up and he was just beside himself.

He said, ah, the new Avengers trailers out.

Oh.

And it shows Captain America's back.

Chris Evans is...

Captain America again.

Oh, really?

You know, he kind of retired in the last episodes of the Avengers.

Now he's back in the preview of this, and it's coming out next December, which is really, that made me angry.

Okay.

He was angry that Captain America came back because, you know, it's probably another universe, part of the Marvel universe where they kind of jump from one universe to the next, right?

Yeah.

So he's kind of mad about that.

And I was mad that it's next December.

That's going to take.

I can't

wait.

They want to give you plenty of lead time to get your

tickets, I

guess.

We've got news straight ahead and sports and weather updates and we're back with our second hour of John and Gordy in the morning for this Christmas Eve day.

Stay with us.

Well, Pete, Terry and I have been looking forward to having you on the show because we know you're the master of all kinds of Christmas goodies.

Tell us about them.

Well, there are lots of great treats at this time of year.

Zucchini bread, fruitcake.

But the thing that I most like to bring out at this time of year are my balls.

What's about your balls,

Pete?

Well, over at Season's Eatings, we have balls for every taste.

Popcorn balls, cheese balls, rum balls, you name it.

Wow.

My mouth's watering just thinking about those balls.

It's been years since I've seen any balls.

Would you like to see my balls now?

Yeah.

Whip them out.

Wow, you have some beautiful balls.

They're bigger than I expected.

I

know a lot of people tell me that.

Look at that, Terry, the way they glistened.

That's because I make sure that each one of my balls gets plenty of oil.

I can't help but notice, Pete, your balls are a little misshapen.

That's because I rested them on a hot stove for too long.

Can I touch your balls?

Go ahead, but be careful.

They're very delicate.

There you

go.

Wow.

I haven't seen popcorn balls in a long time myself, so, you know.

It's from SNL.

Remember, kids used to buy popcorn balls.

Oh, sure.

Yeah.

Those are really cool.

I always liked those.

Really?

Yeah.

It gets stuck in your teeth, though.

Oh, no, no.

Yeah.

Popcorn always does.

I mean, what do you expect from popcorn?

But, uh, yeah, well, you know, not

a

lot

in Uendo there, but, uh, you know, it's just great Saturday night.

Right.

Right.

Yeah.

Let's go to the phone.

Catherine, by the way, said, Oh, Lord.

Well, that's a

classic.

But we play that every every year, every Christmas.

Yeah.

Dick is on the line here from Madison.

Good morning.

Go ahead.

Good morning.

Merry Christmas, guys.

Thank you.

Um, real quick, not to go all Bruce horns behind you, but the line on the color bar, you know, being white as we were talking about, that you'd mean all colors.

All

colors.

Yep.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Right.

And black is the absence of color.

So they got it all wrong as usual.

As usual.

Yeah.

But I was going to bring that up having been

A student of art, you know, the odds.

Yes.

It hasn't come in handy though.

You know, I did go to art school for a certain amount of time.

Yes.

Dick,

thanks for that

call.

Before they threw me out.

All right.

They threw you

out?

Yeah.

608-879-8255 or you can text us on the Civic Media app.

All right,

this

is this is just outrageous stuff.

This is completely insane

Wow.

This is just, it's a 60 minutes thing, you know, where they preempted a segment and everybody's, you know, kind of up in arms about the segment that they preempted.

And now I don't want to get

into that

necessarily, but I do want to get into the fact that President Trump now is saying, hey, you know, we're going to

Get rid of the licenses of a lot of these these networks out there.

Oh sure They can't they can't do this to us, right?

So anyway, it's it's an interesting possibility, but this is what was written

Uh, if network, this is Trump now on, uh, on, uh, what's his, uh, network, uh, truth host truth social.

Yeah.

He says that if network newscasts and their late night shows are almost 100% negative to president Donald J. Trump, he, he's writing this.

I don't know why he said that mega and the Republican party, there shouldn't be their valuable broadcast licenses.

out there, they should be terminated.

I say yes, Trump wrote on his social on Tuesday.

I mean, they're getting a license.

I would think maybe their license should be taken away.

It would be up to Brendan Carr.

Okay, Brendan Carr FCC chair added, we're going to continue to hold these broadcasters accountable to the public interest.

And if broadcasters don't like that simple solution, they can turn their licenses in to the FCC.

All right Trump also by the way attacked Stephen Colbert on Tuesday describing him as a pathetic train wreck and no talent or anything else necessary for show business success Stephen is running on hatred and fumes and a dead man walking CBS should put him to sleep now It's up to humanitarian things to do

And then get this.

This is a kind of an interesting side note.

The FCC cannot directly cancel broadcasting licenses for major networks, including ABC, NBC, and CBS.

However, it can revoke or deny renewals of licenses for local stations that are affiliates of the major broadcasters.

Right, yes.

That's absolutely true.

And Brendan Carr is supposed to be, you know, neutral.

Right?

Yes!

I

mean, he's not supposed to be taking marching orders from anybody.

We have seen an end to that.

Yeah, that's out the window.

Now my mega friend, you know, he's always getting sidetracked by whatever Trump puts out there next or the mega contingent put out there next in law.

He's following these small stories that they blow into huge stories nationwide.

Yeah.

So last night he called me up and he said, hey, who's that?

Who's that bald guy?

You know, that bald guy?

Who is that guy?

Let me see here.

I'm thinking, I don't know.

There are a lot of bald guys now.

It's kind of a fashion statement.

Yeah, they shaved their heads.

So I'm thinking, I don't know.

And he goes, you know, Stephen.

Stephen Miller.

Stephen Miller.

Oh, really?

See.

He's not even familiar with the people in the administration.

He's following all these little rabbit holes all over the place, right?

He doesn't even know Stephen Miller.

Stephen Miller

is, yeah, he's the idea guy.

Who's that guy?

Who's that bald headed guy?

Next to Trump all the time.

Not exactly paying attention to what's really going on with the administration, which is crazy stuff, right?

All right, this is also crazy stuff.

Sean Duffy is talking

about the blue states.

Yeah, federal taxpayers, it's not good that they're getting money for their bridges and for their roads.

And let's listen to this.

This is cut 227.

He's not happy with a lot of the communities that are sanctuary cities and communities.

Let's listen.

But what I can do, Brian, is I can pull their money.

That's the leverage that I do have.

And as long as they don't comply, there's statutory rules by which I have to abide.

I have to give them time to comply with our rules.

But if they don't, I guarantee you that the federal taxpayer is not going to fund their roads and bridges and their systems when they're putting the legals on the roads and endangering the lives of the American people.

And you know this, if you get a driver's license in Colorado, New York,

or California, you don't stay in those states.

You actually travel across the country, so you endanger every single American by putting an unqualified driver behind the wheel as they travel across all of the lower 48.

Incredibly

dangerous.

Wow, there's a lot to unpack there.

Well, I think the Supreme Court just made a decision saying that you can't use that kind of standard to deny money to the states.

No.

You have to have a reason for it.

You know, of course, they should get the money because they need the money for roads and bridges.

And that's the standard that they go by.

They don't go by the standard that, well, the administration doesn't like you.

No, that's not the reason you can deny funding of any sort, all right?

So anyway, we got the licenses here, and then we talked about, you know, funding the states and objecting to them.

All right, let's get to Peter Navarro, trade counselor, okay?

In an age of AI, when all the white-collar jobs are going away, this is from Squawk Box, and Peter Navarro, what he had to say about that.

And in an age of AI, where all the white collar jobs are going away, pretty damn quick, I think maybe it's a good time for people to think about having good blue collar jobs.

I mean, that used to be how America prospered.

The middle class used to be blue collar middle class, because they had good wages at the time back in the days when Detroit was king.

Yeah.

That was a beautiful age.

It can come.

again in a new package with all this good technology and productivity.

We're

going to know a lot, Peter, by the end of next year, and it's coming.

We're

going to know a

lot about how this went.

It wouldn't be the first time that the consensus or the conventional...

Give tariffs a chance, give tariffs a chance, because they're working.

All

right,

thank you, Peter.

All those blue collar jobs will be coming right back.

Oh, sure.

Those tariffs are working.

yeah yeah okay yeah maybe they'll manufacture buggies again for these people i i don't know

All right, we've been talking about Cash Patel and his denial about specific things about the Epstein files.

Earlier this year, he testified under oath that the internal files contain no credible information.

All right, well, let's listen.

This is cut 228.

This is John Kennedy interviewing Cash Patel to find out if there's anything in the Epstein files that may at least provide co-conspirators.

Uh, who, if anyone did Epstein traffic these young women to besides himself

himself, there is no credible information.

None.

If there were, I would bring the case yesterday that he trafficked to other individuals and the information we have again is limited.

So the answer is no one

for the information that we have

and the files

in the case file.

Okay.

Oh, okay.

We know that's not true.

That's right.

Yes, this latest batch of Epstein files is alluding to 10 co-conspirators.

The FBI is

alluding

to it.

Yes, yes.

The FBI is in those files.

Which, by the way, is in

charge of so.

Right.

10 co-conspirators.

They

haven't named, but yeah.

I think he lied.

According to the

FBI, yeah.

Okay, I don't know.

I'm just trying to get a handle on what's the truth and what isn't here.

Sometimes it's hard to know what it is.

It's easy to know actually what the truth is.

All right, now let's get into the 60 minutes thing again.

This time, let's listen to this insane thing here.

This is cut 224, and I'll just play this first, okay?

We heard a little bit about what they're gonna do different on 60 Minutes.

Is there anything beyond that that you could tell us about what they're gonna do differently fact-based?

You know, that's kind of a cultural shock to them.

It's gonna be

yeah might be news to some folks over there One of the things they're gonna have to do is put an ombudsman in place for two years So basically a bias monitor that will report directly to the president.

So that's something that's significant that we're gonna see

happening

a bias I'm bug I'm Budsman yes that is

reporting

right to the president

the president 60 minutes

newsroom home

basically a bias monitor to watch out for CBS what

yeah

okay

State Run TV is officially here, my friends.

It's unbelievable.

It's such a controversial thing.

I know.

Pre-empting this 60-minute segment.

This is getting him into an awful lot of trouble.

Plus, trouble with President Trump.

He's not happy with any of

this.

Yes, and that deal still is up in the air about Paramount

and CBS and

Netflix and all of that.

CNN.

Yes,

right.

All that is...

You know on the boards or you know hanging in the balance on this 19 minutes past the hour It's John or Gordy on Christmas Eve morning.

We're coming right back with more right around the

corner

But as long as you love me so let it snow let it snow

It's a special

Christmas Eve Day edition

of the early morning show with John and Gordy.

I almost said the family show again.

We can call it anything we want.

We can, yes, we can.

It's cloudy out there for your Christmas Eve day and it's gonna stay cloudy today, tomorrow for Christmas day, cloudy.

What about Friday?

Cloudy.

Saturday?

Cloudy.

Sunday?

Cloudy.

Temperatures all the way through this high today about 37 and 40 ish for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Next chance for sunshine is on Monday.

See, this is normal cloudy weather.

We don't get snow until March or April.

No, it's the whole thing.

It's not right.

Really?

It is.

It is right.

You know, I'm starting to feel sorry after listening to Matt Walsh.

I'm starting to feel sorry for white men, you know.

Well, they're picked on all the time, aren't they?

Oh, man.

And being two white men here, and we have never experienced this, actually, but I guess these other guys are just, you know, victims of what?

Discrimination.

A multi-cultural society.

Apparently.

Some sort.

Well, speaking of white men, let's go to the phone

lines right now.

Happy holidays, CJ.

What do you got for us today?

Ready for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

Yes, yes, I am.

And Merry Christmas to you gentlemen.

Yes, thank you.

You too.

I'm down in the Southern Precinct, Southeast Precinct of the United States.

Yeah, it's not exactly...

Uh, cloudy.

Where would that be?

Where's the weather?

Are you in Florida again?

I am.

I

am.

So, um, yes, I'm going to bring in, uh, I won't have any snow this year either.

But, uh, anyways, I, I did want to, you know, as I listened to you guys talk today, you know, so many of us in America voted for what we got going.

No, no,

not exactly.

You didn't know

all

of this stuff would happen.

Well,

I didn't realize that the border would be secure so quickly.

Yeah,

you know, you could speak about that success because we listened to the previous administration say it was.

Did

you vote

for acquiring Greenland?

What about you good with Greenland being acquired?

Just take it.

Is that good?

I don't know.

That's that's one of as many

future accomplishment.

I'm hoping for the Panama Canal.

I'm really interested in that one first off.

Or Venezuelan, right?

You want that.

That would help Venezuelans, I think.

to get their country back to where it should be.

I think ownership of

the Americas because it is

America.

That's kind of the

plan, I think, yeah.

Well, I am now in the Gulf of America.

I live right on the Gulf.

That's right.

Are you in the panhandle?

Yeah.

Are you in

panhandle?

I am, I am.

I'm actually, well, I'm in a place called Benita Springs.

Yeah.

I call it the zip code of...

Heaven three four one three four.

Wow

Don't they don't they call that the redneck Riviera?

I think that's what they call

it.

Yes.

That's what I've heard.

I know I am striving for that award So I

so you go do you go south for winter is that correct?

Or is it just a

vacation?

Oh, you do.

Okay.

All right.

Yes

I'm I'm calling you every day for I'm down here, but I I do enjoy your show guys Well, we haven't heard from you listen to people that I agree with all the time and that's okay, but And I have met you guys you guys are extremely nice gentlemen Even though we don't see eye-to-eye I guess I feel like Is it Greg's brother-in-law?

you know that

I feel like I'm one of those guys that we kind of try to agree to disagree.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's

right.

Yep.

Yes.

Yeah, that's with my brother.

Yeah, there is so much that I like what's happening, you know, but AI is going to change this world.

I know.

And I think that's what that Walmart executive is talking about.

But

here's the thing about AI.

Shouldn't there be guardrails to make sure that it doesn't displace so many people just willy-nilly as it is doing currently?

Well, that would be nice, but it's kind of like climate change and global warming.

It's great if we do it, but if the rest of the world doesn't do it, really, what good is it?

You know and I

think it

does a lot and we can put guardrails up for us And we do for our uh companies But the rest of the world like china and russia

and

benzuela And other countries don't follow those same guardrails.

Yeah,

we get punished for it

But isn't isn't it isn't it true

that if there

are bad people

Over there, we don't have to be bad like them.

We could be good people and they can be the bad people.

Okay.

CJ, we were up against the clock there.

But thank you for calling.

Happy holidays to you and enjoy your time there in Florida.

And we appreciate you checking in with us.

All right.

We've got news, weather and sports.

Oh, no, I'm sorry.

We've got the Midwest Food and Farm Report next.

And then we're back with more on.

This Christmas Eve day.

Yes, special edition.

Yes, good morning and happy

holidays.

Yes, they Christmas full of questions Don't know why she packed

It was the night before Christmas, and all through the pad.

Not a hip cat was swinging, and that's nowhere, Dad.

The stove was hung up in that stocking routine.

Like maybe the fat man would soon make the scene.

The kids had felled by and just made the street.

I was ready for Snoresville.

The man was I beat.

When there started a rumble, it came off real frantic.

So I opened the window to figure the panic.

I saw a slick rod that was making fat tracks, souped up by eight ponies, all wearing hat racks.

And a funny old geezer was flipping his lid.

He told him to make it, and man like they did.

They were out of the shoot, making time like a bat, turning the quarter and eight seconds flat.

Parked by the smokestack and bunches and clusters, till Juppie slid down.

coming on like gangbusters.

His threads were from Cubesville, and I had to chuckle.

In front, not in back, was this Ivy League buckle.

The mop on his chin hit a buttoned-down collar, and with that red nose, Dad, he looked like a baller.

Like he was the fairest, the most absolute.

But let's face it, huh?

Who cares when he left all that loot?

He laid the jazz on you, peeled from the gig.

Well and have a cool you, man.

Later.

Like, dig?

Or dig.

Yeah, dig it.

Yeah, there it is.

Kookie Ed Burns from 77.

Kookie Ed Burns.

Sunset Strip.

Yeah, that was a

cool show back in the day.

Kookie, lend me your comb.

That's right.

You might have heard the song Kookie's Mad Pad.

Oh, yeah.

We used to play that here on the show.

Right.

Yeah.

Kooky Ed Burns.

Man.

It was a cool guy, man.

Real cool.

It was a black

and white TV show back in the late fifties, early sixties, right?

Yes.

77 Sunset

Strip.

Yeah.

Had

a great theme.

Warner Brothers.

Warner Brothers.

Yeah.

And, and, you know, that kind of classic stuff is still at Warner Brothers.

Yeah.

Let's hope they don't destroy that or burn it or something.

Get rid of it.

But he was doing almost like a word

jazz there.

Yes.

Word jazz.

Yes.

Kim Nordin, one of the

people

that we listen to.

Just random jazz behind whatever he's saying.

Yeah, man.

And if you could cue up cut number two from the Christmas folder.

I think already Christmas folder.

I don't want to name the song exactly, but we'll play it.

On our way out.

Okay into the next commercial break.

Okay.

We'll get to that.

All right.

I want to get to something This is geez, you know What the heck?

Well, yeah, Trump accused the Federal Reserve of hurting people and preventing Americans from buying houses by keeping interest rates elevated Okay, I kind of thinking well the

interest

rates are kind of up there.

Yes

Fed Chair Jerome Powell says, a lack of supply was still one of the most significant challenges casting down on whether cutting rates would make much of a difference for people.

The supply of homes.

Seniors aren't selling.

About half of current mortgages are still enjoying sub 4% rates.

I have a sub 4% rate,

you know,

it's great stuff.

And that's why a lot of the seniors are staying put.

In other words, they're creating a locked-in effect.

That's how Jerome Powell describes.

There's little incentive to sell and take on higher payments, so

they're keeping an

existing home inventory at historic lows, and that's the big problem.

Trump policies slowed, by the way, the process down with tariffs on building materials such as lumber.

Now, remember, I bought the space car with a four

$1000 rebate on used space cars.

EVs.

Now known as space cars.

Now known as space cars.

Because I couldn't afford building a garage because the building materials are too extensive.

A lumber coming from Canada.

So we're going to put a garage in, but instead we...

We bought it, you bought a car.

Went with the car, now it's outside.

The charging station is outside.

That's always wonderful anyway.

So that's one of the reasons why there is a slowdown and people aren't able to buy those houses because of the cost of lumber.

The Center for American Progress estimates 450,000 fewer homes will be built.

by 2030 as a direct result of this trade war that he has.

The Urban Institute says cuts to immigration create labor shortages in the construction industry and pushing labor costs higher for developers.

Simply put, there are multiple fences beyond interest rates.

between a young family and their American dream of home ownership.

Realtor.com says renting is cheaper than buying in 49 out of 50 of the largest cities in the country.

Now, having been a realtor at one time, I used to hang out at Realtor.com.

Right?

Sure.

Well, and the other side of that is younger people.

just out of college or, I mean, they can't buy a house until they're

in their

30s or 40s or sometime in their 50s

before

they can put together a down payment and gather up the

capital.

I don't know how anyone can buy a house nowadays.

They're way too expensive.

They really are.

I mean, if I sold the house and I have a, I think a 3.2% interest rate out of

my

soul that it's worth.

a half million at this point, which is crazy talk.

And I do pay the taxes on a half million dollar house.

Damn it.

But you've been there 30 years, 33 years or so.

Yeah.

So

when you bought

it, approximately, how much

was it when you bought

it?

127,000.

Wow.

Yeah.

Wow.

And now it's worth a half mil.

Yeah.

Yeah.

That's it.

But how do you buy a... Just the money bag's over there.

Well, you know, I'm not at fault.

You invested well.

That's good for you, you know.

Congratulations.

Yeah, that's great.

Well, it was just...

Look, I'm just worried now about people being able to afford a home.

I hear you.

You can't buy a house.

You can't buy a half million dollar house on any kind of normal job.

Right.

I don't care what it is.

Yeah.

Back then or now.

It just doesn't make any sense.

So something's got to give.

There has to be new home stock.

We have to build cheaper homes, a first time home buyer home.

Right?

Yes.

because way back when the GI Bill created all these neighborhoods for the servicemen.

And it really helped a lot.

I grew up in one.

Milwaukee, I lived in one of those housing developments and it was pretty interesting, small home.

All those World War II vets,

a lot of

them jumped on the GI Bill and did exactly the same thing.

They were building homes just for,

that GI Bill and,

yeah.

There was a place called Wilson Park out in Milwaukee, and that's where I hung out as a little kid.

Of course, being a little kid, the house seemed like a big house.

Sure, of course.

But it was

incredibly small.

Yeah, it was kind of interesting, but I didn't know the history behind it until, you know, my parents filled me in eventually, but I thought, wow, this is...

This really helped spur on the 50s and 60s, you know, the middle class.

The middle class.

Because of that.

Because of that.

Yes, the middle class is disappearing.

You know, it's either halves and have-nots.

I'll bet you anything the Republicans would not have funded the GI Bill or helped any of that happen.

Today's Republicans.

Today, they would

not do it.

Eisenhower

Republicans

were all over it.

Government can't spend money.

Remember, that's their motto now.

We can't spend money.

You just get used to us spending money.

Oh, well, then forget the GI Bill.

Right.

Right.

I mean, yeah, you're right.

They would not have done it these days anyway.

So that's the bad part of it.

Yeah.

Okay, we're taking your calls if you want to jump in here in the last few minutes

of our

morning show 6 0 8 8 7 9 8 2 5 5 or text us on the civic media app

Free to

download

and free to use We do have a call here.

Mm-hmm Joanne

and

Joanne and Bob.

Okay, let's go.

Let's go to the

phones.

Good morning.

Great great show

uh... just a little note we're talking about uh... current events all of that what's happening to student loans right now is something that we should all be about uh... people will who who default will have their wages garnished uh... this the whole student loan process is becoming more uh... esoteric

And one would think, okay, just thinking of the future and all of that.

If we could somehow control student loans and make the whole process sensible and humane, just think of what would happen to all of these other issues.

I think people would have more children.

I know my students, I've been teaching for quite a while.

My students put off things like having babies.

Because of their heavy student loan encumbrances.

So, again, we should be thinking of students as being such a resource.

I mean, they put such a sacrifice into getting their education.

We should be a little bit more humane.

And I'm worried about, again, all these other issues, putting off home buying because of the student loan issues, and maybe even putting off taking care of us as elders.

because of the student loans that they have borne for so long.

So thank you so much for a great show.

All

right, thank you.

Well, happy holidays.

Thank you for those suggestions.

That's a great point.

We did talk about this a little bit in the last few days where we were saying, why don't we just pay for college, right?

I mean, it's like pre-K through...

through at least 16 yes not just the first two years of college i think but all the way through yeah all the way through basic for your college degree i i think that's the way we should go that would see that

Plans for the future.

Mm-hmm.

That takes that burden off the any kind of loan that you might have had at that point it takes that burden off So and because we have to do that now they can't buy homes because of these student loans out there, right?

If you go to graduate school, I mean it's a different story But we have to deal with that too and other countries by the way have been dealing with it So we should look around and try to improve the whole system.

Yes

And, uh, and I know that they'll say, well, this is socialism and we can't have it.

But, uh, I mean, you know, start thinking positively here and think of the future and how we can actually save everybody money and give them that American dream.

That's how we do it.

Let's

go back to the phones.

Charles is on the line from Milwaukee.

Good morning, Charles.

Happy holidays.

Yeah.

Yes.

Yes.

Definitely.

I was, I was stuck in Denver in the hospital for a few days and got back yesterday.

You okay?

But yeah, in the beginning of the morning, I went for my granddaughter's grandparents' day for last Friday and then got to the airport on Sunday and got sick in the airport.

Wow.

Oh my.

And the end of that will be, yeah.

So, so yes, happy, definitely happy holidays.

You can

blame Sean Duffy for that.

Well, he's the

transportation secretary.

Glad you're out and feeling

better.

Yeah.

But the last point, no, we can't have an educated society because if you're educated, then you don't believe all the fake stories that they tell

us.

And one of those is this administration, they are never on the same page because if you listen to Donald Trump, they'll tell you all the blue collar jobs are coming back.

They're coming back by droves.

Then you got Peter Navarro saying that we need to get blue collar jobs back.

They're never on the same page.

We know that those blue collar jobs are not coming back to the United States of America because Americans require too much money to work.

That's right.

Where those presidential CEOs knows that.

They can take those jobs, they'll keep those jobs overseas and pay those people a little of nothing.

Charles,

exactly right.

Sorry, buddy.

We're up against

the clock,

but glad to hear you made it.

Good to hear from you and happy holidays and glad you're feeling better.

Coming right back with more of John and Gordy.

Stay

with us.

You start.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me a beer.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me two turtlenecks and a beer.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me three french toast, two turtlenecks and a beer.

That should be more there.

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me

Four pounds of backpacks, three french toast, two turtlenecks, and a beer in a tree.

A fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me five golden tukes.

Tukes.

Four pounds of backpacks, three french toast, two turtlenecks, and a beer in a tree.

All right.

It goes on.

Don wears the tukes every morning.

He pointed right at me

when

he said that.

I was waiting for that.

Bob and Doug McKenzie.

And Chuckster suggested that from Racine.

So it goes out to you, man.

SCTV.

We're getting a lot of messages here wishing us Merry Christmas and happy holidays from

Ray.

Thank you.

And Tanya, of course, just want to wish you a very happy holiday season.

Thanks for all you do to add a little joy and humor to my day.

That's what we try to do here on The John and Courtney Show.

We appreciate all your...

wonderful comments and, you know, good wishes for the holiday season.

And we want to extend our good wishes to our fellow staff and management people here at Civic Media and WMDX, like Catherine, you know, our boss.

You know, put us together after all

these

years.

Happy holidays to her and her family.

Sage, of course.

She's kind of regretting it, of course.

I think Catherine's with us, too, right now.

She can get on the line, but I'm going to thank a few more people once she gets on the line.

Corey and Erin, JB.

Yeah, and let's see Chris Morrow and Jacqueline and although our entire course of the traffic department We couldn't do their show without

no traffic department.

We couldn't do it.

We wouldn't be

able to play any commercials.

That's right We wouldn't know what to

play.

Yeah, and you know Chris Casper and Parker and Dom of course our wonderful producer Whoever goes to

Costco to pick up all the food

and snacks that we have at the station bring a lot of food

Megan does that.

Oh Megan.

Yes.

Erin Zomer.

Everybody here in there.

I know I don't want to leave anybody else.

You left a lot of people out.

This is what happens

when you do this.

Should I cover the entire network?

Should I read all 150 names?

You're leaving somebody out

and they're going to give back at

you.

I think you

left me out.

You

left me out.

I said I know I just wanted you to say that.

Not again.

Let me give you the special John and Gordy signal here.

Let's go to Catherine Lake.

She's on the line here.

Happy holiday is Catherine.

Merry

Christmas.

Leave me hanging.

I don't care.

That's fine.

I know you had a little

bit to drink last night, so I don't want to.

I did!

It's

my first time in a week and a half.

Oh, wow.

Okay.

Yeah.

That's good.

That's good.

Yeah.

Yeah.

How you doing on Christmas Eve?

Happy holidays.

Well, thank

you.

I'm fine.

I'm fine.

Fine.

I gotta gotta find a place to go to church tonight.

Yeah, music,

right?

Sing and honor my mother and father, you know, that kind of thing.

That's good.

Yeah.

I just wanted to say, you know, CJ called up with a nothing but good news and warmth and John was like, well, what about, but what about he wanted a fight?

You wanted a fight.

He's always itching for a fight.

Yeah.

Here's what you missed.

In your itching for the fight you missed.

acknowledged climate change.

Oh,

yes.

Did you?

I did miss

that.

Well, yes.

Yes.

He was saying, yes.

Other countries should do as well as we are.

Otherwise none of it matters and he's not wrong.

Yeah.

So, but we're not doing that.

He did.

He did.

We're not doing it well.

But, uh, yeah, I thought that was kind of remarkable.

We see eye to

eye.

Well, yeah, and he said, you know, we agree to disagree on some things, but he wished us happy holidays and that was very nice.

And back at him.

Yeah.

And to you guys, thanks for another great year.

We won't talk to you again until 26, right?

This is your last bit for

the January 5th.

We're back.

Believe it

or not.

Yeah, people.

Just, you know, hang in there, we'll be back in the new year.

But not alone this time.

You're going to have friends on the air next year.

We're going to have a whole new lineup and I'm very excited about what it is.

Well,

thanks again,

guys.

Well, thank you, Catherine.

We appreciate your support, as always.

And yeah, we'll have a whole new thing happening beginning January 5th.

But Doug, did you mention

Doug?

I missed Doug, yes.

Gentlemen, happy holidays from St.

Francis.

From

St.

Francis.

Thank you very much, Doug.

It's just been

a

while.

Tiny little suburb in Milwaukee, no one really.

Notice is it, you know, they kind of drive through my

former neighbors.

Yeah, piping in here.

Happy holidays, guys.

You keep us politically charged here in New Orleans.

We have nothing like this here.

And that's why we stream.

Yeah.

And we do hear from people out there in the few people go around the around the world.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Which is smart, you know.

Well, yes.

Yeah, this was a nightmare

Christmas so far, you know.

You know, the worst possible snow ever.

Well, and now

it's all melted down to just this, the snirt that we have, the mix of snow and dirt and freezing

crap.

You know, I was kind of, you know, I had a problem with my snowblower.

I

know.

handling wet snow very well.

Did you get that worked out?

No, it's still not worked out.

And the thing is because of this break in the snow that we've been getting, I kind of put that aside for a little while here.

I had all this momentum.

I was thinking of getting a battery-powered snowblower.

Okay, here we go.

One of our listeners decided.

Mr. Money Pants over here.

You got to buy a new one.

Wow.

Bigger, better, battery-powered.

Mr.

Money Pants.

Oh,

well.

Well, that's me if you describe

it well.

Well,

it's

been

a good year,

John.

It has

been.

Yeah.

It really, we really enjoyed this year.

Tom?

Yeah, you came aboard this year and Sam, our former producer, we're still in touch with him every once in a while.

And I also want to say I miss

a lot of people that have been at this station.

Yes.

No longer here.

And moved on.

All very good friends and we miss them too.

Yeah, we wish

them

the best.

That'll do it for us for this.

Morning and this year went so

quickly

two hours just like that listen to some of our best of Shows coming up over the next and working with Dom again here.

This is Alright Stephanie Miller's next.

We hope you have a great day.

Happy holidays from John and Courtney.

Yep.

See you later

Let the sun shine.

Is the John and Courtney show.
