Okay And we're off and running we are Good Tuesday morning to you.
It's John and Gordy on ninety two point seven WM DX kind of a misty morning out there
rain in the misty morning There's a song like that is there.
Yeah,
I don't know I don't remember too well Yeah 50 song I guess I don't know so I don't care, but it is
misty out there
It is.
It's some light rain and drizzle and could change over to some rain-snow mix later today or this evening.
Yeah, people up north are getting it.
Yeah.
And that's why they're up north.
Well, they love it up there.
They get the snow.
They do.
You wouldn't be up there if you didn't like
the snow.
That's right.
But we have not been getting enough snow.
Not the last couple of winters.
Yeah, I know.
And we've been watching the snowmobile.
industry and just collapse in northern Wisconsin, right?
Yeah, that's a problem.
It really is.
You know, it'd be nice to have those snowmobiles around is, well, maybe, you know, maybe climate change will change everything for us.
And we won't need those mechanical devices.
It'll be just
hot all the time.
And was it two winters ago that they had to truck in snow for the Birkbeyer?
Yes, they did.
Yeah, that was awful.
They didn't
have to do that last year.
They had, I think, you know, enough last year, but
in emergency snowfall.
What was
it called, the Birkenbauer?
The Birky, they call the Birkabiner.
Birkabiner.
Birkabiner.
What is that?
Something like
that.
It's a big deal.
Do we look like we follow the Birkenbauer?
It's
a very festive week
of
snow shoe and
snowmobile races
cross country snow snow this and snow that we
don't know we've never been to it but it sounds like a good time I'm
obvious I have avoided
any mention of that.
I'm not interested in anything like that.
I was in a cross country skiing for about two or three years.
My binding broke and that was the end of that.
I could have bought new skis, I suppose, but I don't know.
You didn't want to.
The thing here is it's like a combination downhill, uphill skiing.
And uphill skiing ain't no fun.
I mean, there's a way to get uphill, you know, with your skis.
But at the same time, you're going downhill on these very narrow skis.
Right.
And it's not easy to maintain your balance or guide them for that matter.
So I had problems with that.
I guess they went a little more advanced.
We went up to Peninsula Park in Door County.
Oh.
And they have some beautiful.
Gorgeous trails up there, but they're up and down You're going uphill is taking eight hours to do that and there's people behind you and you have to go downhill and try to maintain and do curves and What about instead
of cross-country skiing?
How about downhill skiing?
No way some of that.
No, no
I did a little bit of that
in a
handful of times and then that was it.
I was yeah
team dangerous not for me.
Yeah
Well, I do.
I've done a little bit of snowboarding myself.
Yeah, you like that?
Yeah, I do.
I actually have my own.
I have a couple boards, actually, that I use.
See,
that's something new.
I'm curious about how you handle a big surfboard instead of, you know, two of them in order to guide your path.
I know
you throw your
weight one way or another, it's like surfing,
but... There was one time, I think it was last year, I got a concussion, and I was like, I don't know if I want to do this again.
Well, look at this.
Well, there's a real sell job right there.
Thank you, Don.
Should go up to Cascade Mountain and Portage.
Have you been there?
I've heard of it.
I've never been there, but...
They do a lot of snowboarding up
there as
well as downhill skiing.
I don't know how many runs they have now, but
there's quite a few.
Yeah, and all the tracks is always like, oh, you get a diamond, a double diamond.
It's like how difficult the track is.
And they have lots of lighting across all the ski runs so you can ski at night.
It's cool.
My roommate, he does this thing called slalaming, which is one instead of two.
One ski instead of two.
I have no clue how he can do that.
No clue.
Can't even get my feet on there.
I don't know
hmm So snowboarding is like two two boards.
It's a snowboard.
No, no, no, it's like a
it's not that long of a board It's
not that long.
It is maybe three feet.
Yes, it's like a surfboard.
You're right It is kind of like a surfboard.
It is a sir.
Yeah, but a slalom is like a small It's like a smaller.
It's basically a one ski one ski.
Yeah.
Oh, I see.
Okay.
It's a it's
narrow than that.
Yeah.
Oh boy Wow, okay.
Well, we'll see how much snow we get this year, but
If you plan any ski trips, let us know.
I'll let
you
guys.
Were you wearing
a helmet
when you got
the concussion?
I was, yeah.
It was the first trip down the hill, too.
We're not going with this guy.
Oh, yeah.
It
was great stuff.
Concussion.
Yeah, don't ask us to go along.
I
won't then.
No,
I won't.
OK.
Wow.
Anyway, the rest of the weather for today rain mixed with snow and high about 40 But it's really gonna just stay mainly in the upper 30s for today a little later on we're gonna talk to Amy Horak Find out what to do with your lawns and gardens this time of year Here comes the snow and here comes winter
Well, you know, I'm gonna ask her a question about mulching leaves.
Yeah, you know, I do that every year
I don't rake them.
I don't blow them anymore.
I did that for a long period of time, I think.
So I just run over my lawnmower.
There's nothing wrong with that.
What's wrong
with that?
You think it's organic stuff, right?
It'll fertilize the soil.
But I don't know.
You know, sometimes you think is it just piling up and killing the grass?
I'm going to have to ask.
Well, ask Amy when she gets in here.
Yeah.
You know, I thought I had it down, you know when I was raking you kind of rake the leaves when it's moist Mm-hmm, you know, and then that makes the leaves so much easier to handle and rake up and then after that I thought well, that's cool But how about something else, you know, and I thought the dumbest device ever is a snow is a leaf blower
I made fun of it.
Let me say I made fun of that at the Q106.
That would have been 1980.
And they just had come out at that.
And
I made a
bogus commercial about
leaf
blowers.
I thought, wow, this is the dumbest device ever.
You know, just blowing leaves.
But then, you know, I thought, well, I'm going to buy one and I tried it.
It's wonderful.
You know, it's
just, it's a lot of fun.
You go out there, but you end up
working an awful lot.
You're blowing leaves one way and then, you know, maybe the wind itself blows them the other and then you have to go back and then you have to circle and then you kind of, you know, you move all the leaves, it's like hurting leaves.
And it's just, it's much longer to do that than it is to rake.
And that's why I'm mulching my leaves now.
How does the dog take to the leaf blowing?
Does
the dog enjoy the activity here?
We don't leaf blow a lot.
We leaf blow off the stairs.
Oh, OK.
Yeah.
Where the leaves.
The outside stairs.
Yeah.
So that's about it.
You know, and around the patio, and around the house, the window wells, stuff like that.
But other than that, you really don't need it.
Well, then how do you feel about snow blowing, then?
Is it the same?
No, no, you got to snow blow.
You got to snow blow.
Oh, yeah.
It's the most.
All right, of course, you know now that they have these battery operated snowblowers.
Yeah, you want to get one of
those?
Yeah, you know You have to I It's one of those things where when you got the snowblower and it's a powerful I got a really I got a really powerful snowblower It's got an impeller
on the front of it.
A lot of people don't get those, but I went out and say, I got to do a driveway for like three people.
So I'm getting a simpeller and it's, you know, a super snow blower.
But at the same time, you have to plug it in initially before the season starts, get that motor running, uh, lube it up and then you're on your way.
You can start it in cold weather, uh, for snowfall.
So you have to kind of prepare all that stuff, but with a battery operated vehicle, it just starts up.
That's it.
There's no question.
Just how long that lasts, snow blowing is a real effort, especially in heavy snow.
And it could just deplete that battery very quickly.
So anyway, look, I'm just ruminating.
I'm thinking back, back, back, back.
I don't know.
My day's snow blowing.
I enjoy them.
Okay We're doing you know, we're doing the afternoon show, okay, right?
Just a heads up yeah, Matt Rothschild will be in tomorrow.
That's right.
He'll be filling in
we
can't we just can't keep doing I Know as much as I feel a responsibility.
I really love doing this
the show in the morning.
We're both exhausted.
I mean, let's just face
it.
That's the
problem.
We just don't have the insurance.
Well, when you're working early, early morning and then late in the afternoon, it kind of messes up your old day.
And then we have all these meetings in between.
We would normally be napping.
We do take a nap.
Well, I think it was after five o'clock yesterday.
You were leaving the station, and I was talking to you, John, and you were wobbling your feet.
You're like, oh, man, I have to work tomorrow morning.
Go, man.
Get some sleep, man.
I
know.
I know.
It was really, it was exhausting.
But here's the thing, you know, we got a lot of reaction to the show in the afternoon.
It was great to hear from him.
Yes.
And it was it was really, really a lot of fun, but holy mackerel at extra third hour.
Did you see?
Oh, yeah.
You know, I have the tiny
violence for
us.
I have to say this, though, this is it was very funny and saw a picture of Pete Schwabba.
Oh, yeah.
Did you see that?
Yeah.
And he's he's like he's taken a knee.
Yeah, right outside of the studio.
Yes, because he says, wow, that third hour.
That was pretty funny.
Oh, that was really good.
It was
good.
Hey, our phone lines are open if you want to jump in 608-879-8255.
And of course, you can always.
download the Civic Media app and text us there or send us a voice
note.
So I thought it was just us, you know.
And then Peter has a picture.
And I feel like, oh man, I wish I had done that.
And I'm taking a picture and showing us, you know, like falling over and the
parking ramp.
Well, we're used to, you know, we're all creatures of habit.
You get used to a certain schedule.
And then
when that schedule gets upended or turned around or, you know, added to or.
Well,
we've been doing morning shows for a long time.
It's just, you know, once you get into it again, it's really fine.
It's just perfect.
It's okay, yeah.
And now in the afternoon, I love the afternoons.
And this is really a challenge now in having a third hour.
And I think we're gonna have some...
You and I have looked at politics in different ways.
Sure.
You weren't really much into the political part of this thing.
Right.
But you have a bigger picture vision of politics just as I do.
And I think that's what we're going to explain this afternoon on the program.
Really?
Yeah.
And see what other people think about that.
Yeah.
All right.
That sounds like a plan.
We're going to get the diagrams out and the charts.
I've got the whiteboard
ready to go.
We'll have our seminar over there.
Just getting going on a Tuesday morning, 19 minutes past the hour.
We'll come back with more of John and Gordy in the morning on WMDX.
Stay right here.
You can ask but Well, let's talk about what's trending
here
on WM DX John and Gordy in the morning at least for today But first before we do anything else we have to talk to Matt in Middleton.
Yes Good morning,
man.
Morning guys.
One thing that's trending in America 2025 is
People living in their cars because they can't afford rent.
That's fairly common now, but I was calling to ask you what you think about a new direction for the American economy as part of the Democratic message and rebuilding America is to decentralize as much as possible and have a more
locally sourced capitalism if possible To kind of decouple or move away from these all these monopolizations and the private equity Consolidation of retail and all these things.
Yeah, do you think there's a way to have?
You know more locally sourced materials and resources to go into more small businesses and get away from the Walmart than the
The juggernaut.
Well, I don't think that's ever going to happen.
I think they're here to stay, especially now under Trump.
They have gained more power than ever before.
They're absorbing other companies.
I heard a story on the way in about Warner Brothers maybe being up for sale.
Really?
Paramount might buy it.
And oddly, it's...
being taken in by a billionaire, right?
And then they complain that Netflix is thinking about buying Warner and say, oh, that's too much.
That's a monopoly.
No, I don't know a billionaire having it.
Is that not a monopoly?
Or, you know,
it's
just, I don't think that's going to happen.
But I think you have a really good point, Matt, and that is to rebuild America.
And
because it's being dissembled before us.
We're watching everything just go away.
Trump was the other day I saw a speech where he was talking about doing away with regulations.
And that would mean that all of the departments that they stripped down, eliminated, those are the departments that had the regulations in them.
And they got rid of them.
And now it's kind of a free market thing.
Anything can happen.
We'll get ripped off.
They'll charge us too much money.
No one will be responsible for it.
No regulations.
And that's the kind of thing that we'll be seeing in the next three years.
And I think it'll have dangerous repercussions for the mega party,
at
least.
But that means, and I think Matt had this, the Republican, they have their agenda.
It's rolling out and it's destroying everything.
And it's going to be a bad, bad three years.
The Democrats better damn well have an alternative plan.
Where is that plan?
Why are they not coming up with something, anything?
Of course, you know, I complain.
They should have been on board with Universal Healthcare, but they never ever brought it up.
They just talked about the ACA tax credits.
Well, a lot of it is who is leading the Democratic Party right now.
You know,
there
seems to be a split and it doesn't seem to have any, you know, they're not coming back together again.
It seems to be split between the old guard and the new up and comers.
And until we have a convention or something, we don't seem to be able to sort it out.
I kind of think they should have their own
primary convention or some sort of get together, I assume they do once in a while, once a year, have a gathering to try to figure out a direction, but right now it doesn't seem like anybody's really stepped forward and
put together a
group of
people present a plan.
I mean, it's right in front of us, the whole idea that something's gotta happen.
There has to be something else to...
take the place of our crumbling infrastructure, our crumbling economy, this weird experiment on tariffs.
The Democrats have to come up with an alternative.
And, you know, as much as I'd like to have healthcare as one of those alternatives, there's a whole bunch of other things you've got to come up with too.
And that is, you know, restoring.
these departments to something much better than they were, more efficient, but very, very constructive in what they do and they try to add to our economy, how they are handled, the rules and regulations pertaining to it.
And Congress needs to be a part of that.
Yeah.
And part of the
other problem, the other part of the problem is the fire hose of just Trump is every day.
And it seems like that.
takes the spotlight every single day.
There's more of it.
And the Democrats have to react to that instead of, you know,
coming up with their own agenda,
instead of coming up with their own agenda and grabbing that spotlight and doing, yeah, doing the hard work of coming up with a plan.
Yeah.
It's a tough
situation.
It is a really hard situation to come up with something.
While everything is happening and we're reacting to it and trying to maintain at least keep things well.
But, you know, they win these arguments.
They're going to win the argument of not renewing the tax credits.
They're going to win that.
And people's premiums are going to go up.
A lot of people are going to drop out and not have health insurance anymore.
They're not going to worry about it.
And they're going to put it in your lap, by the way.
The Republicans are going to sit there and make you pay.
It's your responsibility.
You have all these options now.
You have these savings accounts or the high risk pools.
You've got your options.
We've given it to you.
Live with it.
That's maybe if you go
along with it, you'll get a $2,000 check sometime
this year.
A
little sugar cookie.
Yes.
You know, help you out a little bit.
It doesn't even cover the copays.
So it's a horrible plan.
29
past the hour and a little light rain to start your Tuesday.
When we come back, we'll be getting into idiocracy.
First up, the Midwest Food and Farm Report with Pam Yankee and her crew.
It's John and Gordy on WMDX.
Whoo Why it's That was from Civil War.
Oh, yeah, that was like a movie very intense stuff.
I love that movie.
Yeah, that's great But this is the a accuracy version of it anyway We have Joe on the line right now.
Welcome to the program Joe up early
Cue the coffee.
She can make it through once with the coffee is in hand.
I
just wanted to mention in terms of America and regulations that some people are starting to understand that the way to deal with Trump is to
get on it quickly when he starts making his plans.
So as you discussed in your afternoon show, Trump wants to paint the Eisenhower building, a granite building that he doesn't like it gray.
He wants it white because it's close to the White House.
So have this big white blob there.
And as we discussed, granite is not a substance that does well with painting.
So you kind of create problems.
So interestingly, so you opened it up and you realized nobody's believing him anymore about how he's going to take his time and be considerate.
So he's just been sued by a group who's mentioning the fact that he's not complying with National Preservation Act, and it would do harm to a national historic landmark.
Somebody came with a graffiti and sprayed it all around.
They would be subject to change, but he can go ahead and do whatever he like.
And they're mentioning the fact that
if you it's supposed to be left unpainted and if you paint it you can trap moisture within the wall system which accelerates deterioration and causes the masonry to split or crack.
The group's cultural heritage partners is suing, and the claim seeks injunctive relief as well as get this.
Attorney's fees and costs, which is only reasonable, which means we have to pay again to stop him from doing this stupid, stupid thing.
It's like
we constantly have our wallet open.
It's like, you know, $40 billion over to Argentina.
You know, having to pay for this, having to pay for that.
Good.
God, y'all.
So I would just say, keep them away, you know?
Keep away from any business.
Make them do some stuff with Tinker Toys or something.
There's no cost to it.
I know.
How do they have this switch to them?
I
know.
I know.
Good ideas
all there, Joe.
Thank you.
Thank you for that.
Keep them busy.
My God, busy hands are happy, hands like this.
Yeah, this group suing him for, thank gosh somebody stepped in, instead of just letting him do this.
Oh my God.
I mean, tearing down part of the White House was something else.
And he had no approval, didn't run it by anybody.
It's like, it's his own place.
Of course, you know, he's a tenant.
It's
temporary.
Boy, very temporary.
You know, about that guy out of here.
It's crazy.
But yeah, painting the Eisenhower office building is just something else.
You know, painting granite.
Maybe he'll put, they'll put him in a pair of bib overalls and send him out there to do a little painting
himself.
Yeah, maybe he can do it himself.
Yeah, just,
you want it painted?
Go
ahead and paint it yourself.
Yeah, rent a cherry picker, go out there and get every little corner with your spray paint.
Good luck with all of that.
Ah, yes.
There it is.
Yeah.
Hey, watch out.
Look out.
Don't.
Tuck it.
Paint that one here.
There
you go.
Wow.
Yes.
But you know, what do you do when you have a maniacal crazy person like this?
Otherwise, yeah, yeah, you know, I was Thinking just you know what how do we deal with the end result of what's going to happen here?
Matt called and he posted also he said this I am thinking post-depression
when all of this really breaks.
The
answer is to prevent totalitarianism and decentralization and community is the way to go.
And I think he's right.
You know, we need to do something very, very profound and we're not having those
discussions.
You think the bubble has to burst first.
We have to have some huge cataclysmic event before everything has a chance to start all over again.
Well,
we saw what happened with Marjorie Taylor Greene.
He started attacking her, calling her a traitor.
And this really profoundly changed her approach to Trump and maybe even her viewpoint in some way, shape, or form.
Not totally.
I'm not saying that, but I think now she's on the receiving end of it, and a lot of this will depend on people being on the receiving end of the result of what Trump is trying to do this country.
And yes, I think that it's going to be a hard lesson learned by the Magus.
That's the only way they're going to learn to change
something.
for the better.
Marjorie Taylor Greene is definitely on the side.
She's totally 100% on the side of the victims of
the Epstein
scandal.
And she's not going, that's not going to change.
So she's with them all the way.
And it personally
affected her, her family health care wise.
And that's why she's on that.
That's why she wanted to extend the tax credits.
And for whatever reason, it almost seems like suicidal for a political party.
But to let those tax credits expire, it's going to be profound.
I mean, the end result is going to be profound.
And this will affect a lot of people.
Mag is included a lot.
And that may change their approach to what they think about Trump.
We want to update you on the weather.
Wow.
It's 38 degrees.
We've got rain showers to start your day.
It looks like that rain could change over to rain snow mix.
We'll keep you posted on that.
In our next hour, we're going to talk with Amy Horak.
She's, uh, with, uh, she's going to talk about landscaping and, uh, whatever
else you need to do this time of year for the snowfall and, uh, and leaving the yard alone, essentially.
She's with
David
J. Frank and company.
Yeah.
I'll be out there in the yard playing with my Border Collie.
Tramping down the lawn again and making big grooves of dirt.
Yes.
Yeah,
man.
Well, if you want to get away for it all for a night, we invite you to the Godfather of Green Bay.
That's happening at the Atwood Music Hall.
This is happening Thursday, December 4th at 7 p.m.
and all thanks to Doundren's Distilling.
Our friend Pete Schwabba will be there.
He's in this movie, Stars in it.
He also directed it and wrote it.
The Godfather of Green Bay.
Atwood Music Hall December 4th, that's a Thursday night, seven o'clock proceeds from the ticket sales and the tickets are just 10 bucks.
But some of those proceeds go to the Dane County Humane Society's Pet Food Pantry.
So join us, John and Gordy will be there and Pete Schwabba as well.
And he'll take some questions from the crowd after the movie or maybe before the movie too.
I'm not sure how that's gonna work out, but you know.
Come along with us and have some fun.
Well, it should be a good time.
You
know, it seems the reaction of the
crowd for the movie.
It's a funny movie.
It is.
It's really well done.
Yeah.
And the aerial shots were just fantastic.
It weren't they?
Yeah, they were.
I mean, it was during autumn and they have these incredible shots of the woods and the color.
Wow.
And, you know, we want everybody to wear their packer gear, too, because of, you know, pack arena.
is in the movie a
couple of times.
So I can't wear my bear's jersey.
Well, you can wear
whatever you want.
Do what you want.
Yeah, you can wear that.
Sure.
You know, Listerine at Facebook, I was looking at Schwab's post.
Yeah, doing that third hour is just crazy, you know.
It was for us too.
But I also noticed a picture here, a retro thing.
And it is a...
What is it?
Oh, driver's head machines.
Yes.
I don't think people remember
those.
Not many people remember.
I mean, you know, you just go in the car now, I believe, but this is Driver
Ed.
Yeah, they would have a classroom just set aside for all the Driver's Ed machines.
It's just a little kind of a booth-like thing.
Very uncomfortable seat
seat seat belt there and the steering wheel and the gear shift and then it would have a it had us an
accelerator
right there Yeah dashboard and an accelerator and a brake on the floor.
Yep, and the speedometer would move as you hit the gas and Headlights and everything wonder who remembers
Actually using one of these.
I do.
Yes.
I was afraid of driving.
I did not want to drive.
Really?
Yeah.
Wow.
I couldn't wait.
Yeah.
So anyway, you know, I'm thinking about this and I remember specifically, I don't know if they have driver Ed in school.
Well, they do have
driver classes, right?
Do they?
They do, yes.
Do they have videos
yet?
Okay, no videos.
Yeah,
yeah, we'd get in these booths and then they'd show a film
they show a film
and You
pretend to drive you have to maneuver a maneuver and it would just be insane because and I always thought how unfair Because what it does is it takes away your peripheral vision, right?
So they just have kids jumping out of Park cars, but I would have seen that if
You know, if I were driving, my peripheral vision would have said, I see that kid right next to the car and they're going to jump out in front and I'm going to be ready for it.
I don't know if they do that.
I thought it was really unfair.
It was kind of fun.
Yeah.
Usually those movies were all torn up and
they'd
been run a
hundred times.
A hundred thousand times.
So you really couldn't see much.
That's true.
Let's go
to the phones.
Catherine is on the line
this
morning.
Oh, here we go.
Okay, okay, let's get to Catherine.
Oh, yes.
Good
morning, Catherine.
So you're telling me you don't want me to call?
No, we do.
We do want you to call me anytime.
You're
telling me because, Pearson, I've driven with you.
I know how you drive.
You took driver's ed is a big question for me.
Can't believe it.
He didn't say
he passed it.
I kill a lot of pedestrians.
I blame that I'm not having peripheral vision on the film, you know.
The film for me was a horror show because do you remember it also said, usually it happens to be, don't wear a seatbelt.
Do you remember that?
Yes.
That's my big takeaway from that movie was they talked very detailed about it.
And the second thing I took away from that thing, and it was a construction office.
They brought a construction site.
It's a little mobile office, right?
Yeah.
And it was testing how fast you can get your foot from the gas to the
brake.
Right.
Your
reaction time.
That's hard.
Reaction time.
Yeah.
Reaction time.
Totally beat Tom Karen's butt.
Wow.
Excellent.
Excellent.
I knew you could.
Still living off of that.
I know I, you know, it was a challenge.
It was a challenge.
But going out on the freeway for the very first time, that was just as scary as anything.
Really?
Yeah.
Wasn't it?
I got one point off on my driver's head.
For parallel parking.
I still to this day can't parallel park, but everything else I think I did all right on and Yeah,
well Yeah parallel parking was something although I got really good at
that.
Yeah, I'm
pretty good at that, too
But you know, you know what help you know what helped my driving I Think it helped what was was go-karting and and and and what riding a forklift
Oh, yeah, driving the forklift.
Yeah, I did that, too.
The forklift thing was just in a factory.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
And you drew.
He did a lot of driving backwards.
Yeah.
Fun stuff, though.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I learned how
to drive backwards really well.
And I'd freak people out in the car.
Full speed backwards.
Wow.
Yeah.
Just like in the movies.
Okay.
During those chase scenes and driving backwards, that was me.
It is 648.
Hey, give us a call.
608-879-8255.
We're back with more of Johnny Gordy on this Tuesday after this.
Oh, yeah.
All right.
Wow.
608-879-8255.
Kurt is on the line
here.
See?
It works.
Kurt.
Good morning,
guys.
Good
morning.
In high school, I was working for a beer distributor, and I drove a Volkswagen was manual.
And in the warehouse, we'd unload and load the truck beer trucks for the forkless.
Yeah, I'm good on a forklift.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We're proud.
We're proud, you know.
Yeah, we're both proud of our work.
When you get
good on a forklift, it's
fun.
You
made it, you know.
So yeah, definitely.
So the owner of the business had to leave for a funeral and I never backed up the trucks back into the warehouse.
You know, they have that button for two different shifts per reverse.
Right.
Yeah.
So.
I'm crawling and the truck's kind of bouncing because it has a really strong clutch pedal.
And then he starts yelling at me.
He says, back it up.
Come on, get it done.
And so I let out the clutch more and all these trucks had fiberglass hoods.
And sure enough, I backed up too fast, hit the brakes, and then the movement of the truck is just enough to really punch the nose of the truck behind me.
It totally blew apart.
Oh, yeah, both of his hands and grab the top of his head and walked away.
Oh my God.
Yes.
Did you lose your
job?
Or did you?
I did it.
He said to me, he says, I deserve that.
I deserve
that.
I shouldn't have taken that chance.
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
It was really extrapolating to say just because you drive stick car and you're good on a four-clean, you can get in jump in a.
a truck with a totally different clutch mechanism and back it up into
a... Yeah, there is a certain lack of confidence in your ability to do that.
You know, I know you know you sit there and you think you can drive anything at
that point,
right?
Right and and that that I had the same kind of problem with I worked in a book by entry and we had all of these these these slippery pages of magazines stacked up like six feet tall and they're on a
pallet and you have to go very, very slowly and every once in a while you make that curve just a little too fast and they'll just go flying all over the place.
And it brings you back down to reality.
You're not the best driver in the world on a forklift.
Right.
Kurt,
thanks
for
that call.
Yeah.
Did you have something else
to
add?
Yeah, sure.
Team job.
The path barrels were loaded.
uh, four by two on a with a board on top and I'm lifting it up into the cooler and we stack them five high into the cooler.
Yeah.
And I'm looking at the guy who's got a lot more experience.
I said, I don't think this is a good idea that I do this.
Stop being a whim.
Do it.
And I'm lifting it up there.
Sure enough that the board cracks from the barrels hits the floor and this is not a lie.
The barrel lands.
Square on its side, the bung goes flying out, hits me in the chest.
And I'm immediately drenched in the entire contents, emptied out on him.
I had a bruise on the side of my chest, almost the size of a frisbee.
Yeah, like he didn't break a river or
something.
Wow.
Yeah.
Dangerous stuff.
Well, that's bad stuff.
Kurt, well, thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks for that.
Wow.
Yeah, the place I worked at was a China warehouse.
So when you
drop the skid,
everybody in the factory
knew
it and it happened on a fairly regular basis in there.
See, there are a lot of horror stories, you know, driving forklift.
We got
Troy on the
line.
Troy
from
Monterey.
Go ahead.
Good morning.
Yeah.
So when I was learning to drive semi, I went to this dog and pony show at WCTC because
how Walker was giving away money to the technical colleges
and
they stick me in the simulator which I'd never been in and I'm driving the truck in the simulator and all of a sudden I keep hearing this siren for like two minutes and I'm looking all over the place and I can't see any
emergency vehicles and people are watching me and nobody else said anything.
Finally, somebody comes up to me and says, you've got your foot on the button for the siren.
I could run the siren myself and I didn't know that.
Oh no.
That's funny.
I'm like, where the heck's the tire truck?
What the hell's going on?
D. Yeah.
Boy, they must have
thought you were crazy,
Troy.
Oh, man.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
I couldn't believe none of the other people knew that.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, us blue collar people, you know, we just, we go through these kinds of things.
Troy, thanks for that call.
Did you ever do any factory work at the time?
No, the only thing I did was landscape.
I did landscape work for a time.
Oh, yeah, that's tough.
I was driving on top of the... Yeah, I was just kind of driving and I was doing my thing.
ATV or some sort of thing.
Yeah, it was kind of like an ATV sort of thing.
Oh, really?
Okay.
Yeah.
It was fun, but I don't want to do it again.
Yeah.
Okay.
Talking machinery and factory work this morning.
Time
in with your stories.
I'll be honest, you know, I think we'll have this discussion in the afternoon as well.
I think it's really interesting.
We'll get statewide reactions to something like this.
These are the kind of jobs that are being taken over by robots, though,
you know?
Yeah, some of them.
Some
of them anyway.
I think a lot of blue-collar jobs will still be out there.
I think so.
I have to say this, it's very insulting to hear Megas accuse, you know, the left or liberals or a person like me, you know, and saying that I'd never worked and not an American and all this other stuff.
But, you know, I grew up solidly blue collar in Milwaukee.
And it was a great experience, a learning experience.
I mean, I had every kind of job you could think of and a factory work.
And it makes you aware of what other people have to go through.
Yeah.
During
my college years,
I worked in a couple of different factories, and then we're construction one summer.
It really opens your eyes up to the real world.
Yeah,
they
don't have a corner on being a blue collar individual.
Right.
It is 6.59.
Coming up in our next hour, Amy Horak will join us, and we've got more big stories headed your way.
It's John and Gordy in the morning on WMDX.
Wow that didn't age well didn't age well
John and Gordy in the morning.
WMDX 92.7.
It is six minutes past the hour of rain showers through the day.
Temperatures will stay pretty steady in the upper thirties, maybe reach 40.
And then this evening, maybe a little rain snow mix.
So got that to look forward to.
You know, you've
got a wet day here this morning.
You
should feel a little dirty.
What are you talking about?
Having believed that they were eating the dogs and the cats.
I mean, you know, the Megas were part of that.
They, they, they, they went along with that.
And now, you know, knowing that that was so trumped up, so ridiculous, so canned and dumb, but they just, they should feel dirty having supported that.
That is just outrageous.
I just can't get over it.
I really can't.
I mean, you act like a dumbass.
And you think you're just going to get away with it?
I don't think so.
I'm not forgetting.
I'm not forgetting.
You guys went along with it.
And then, you know, JD came out and said, well, you know, that's my district.
OK.
I'm thinking, well, OK, man, are you going to tamp this down a little bit, you know,
tell the
truth?
And he did not.
No, he did not.
Wow.
Stunning.
But I have to say, I love the song.
Result from it.
Do we have that song you got her let's
play
it
Yeah, what?
Yeah, but could you?
Why
not?
Is it
my imagination or is that some weird weird stuff?
I mean that is weird, wild, wacky, wacky
stuff.
You're a correct, sir!
Oh, yeah.
I do love that.
Oh, yeah.
Well, you know, it comes along once in a while, you know.
Too bad, you know, it took off in a very negative way.
Of course, you know, we could have enjoyed that just, you know, for the fun of it.
Right.
And instead we had to take it seriously for a while anyway.
Hey, I want to get to something more serious here.
We'll probably talk about this in the afternoon as well.
It is the idea that Antifa is a bad organization.
All right.
It is not a bad organization.
It's not an organization.
Yeah, it doesn't really have an organization.
That's right.
Antifa is anti fascism.
So, you know, when we're talking about it, the administration has actually made Antifa anti-fascist.
They have made that an enemy, a terrorist group, an organization that isn't an organization, but is a terrorist group.
Now, I didn't think they could do that.
Even after they made it, made DEI, something that was horrible, diversity.
equity and inclusion.
Now, I didn't think, honestly, again, I'm pretty naive.
I fall for this stuff all the time.
That would never happen.
People would never believe that, you know, diversity, equity and inclusion would be considered a bad thing.
I would never have expected that.
It's not, you know, it's not affirmative action.
It's diversity.
You know, it doesn't mean that it has any reference to color whatsoever, but they managed to do that.
And then I didn't think, again, sorry to admit that I am completely incompetent in interpreting these things.
Then they actually told people not to have diversity, equity, inclusion in their businesses, in government, in any way, shape, or form, do not have it at your colleges and schools.
And I thought, well, no one's gonna fall for that.
No one's gonna go that route.
And then they did.
They it's just very strange and so and they've done that with Antifa.
Yeah.
Yeah, they made it a terrorist group organization and what they what they did was they In fact, I have a great explanation here from a guy a reporter named Andy.
No, it's GNO and He was speaking with Turning Point USA
on their broadcasts.
They're gonna keep that alive and well, showing all the pictures of Charlie Kirk, like as if he were still around.
And he had a little report on this.
I wanna play this report for you, because this will explain everything about how they managed to get this considered a terrorist organization.
All right, so let's check it out.
That's right.
Yes asset reasons travel man.
Yeah Can you believe that That's right
That's right.
And what he means there is that they do train individuals in how to protest correctly.
They do not want violence at any of the Antifa events in protest.
They do not want violence.
They don't.
And those people who do have a violent tendency or
destructive tendency at all, those individuals obviously didn't go through the coursework.
But again, it's the FTOs, Foreign Terrorist Organization, and that's why they had to go overseas in order to try and find other ANTIFA groups, which then they said, okay, they're similar to the ones here in this country, so now they're foreign terrorist organizations.
Very loose.
Okay.
Doesn't sound right.
Nope.
But that is what they have done to groups that are opposed to fascism.
Okay.
Right.
Come on, folks.
Okay.
Okay.
So I asked the question.
Yeah.
Wait a minute.
If they could do that to anti-fascist groups.
Yeah.
Well, then why didn't they do that to the neo-Nazi groups that are in Europe?
I mean, there are huge organizations.
that are neo-nazi groups.
In fact, you know, a lot of elections like in France and so on and so forth, they have their groups running for office.
So why aren't they also foreign terrorist organizations here in this country?
Why isn't the neo-nazi group included in all of that?
Because they are aligned with other organizations in
Europe.
Let's go back to the phones.
Dick is on the line.
6 0 8 8 7 9 8 2 5 5.
Good morning, Dick.
Go
ahead.
Well, a couple things to.
Are we sure that he's not the one with the brain worm?
Yeah.
Real, real terrorists.
He's entertaining another one today.
The crown prince.
Yes,
the
crown prince.
And then last week, that's OK, though.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
This checkin'.
That's a nice thing.
Nice little touch from the president.
Well,
they're getting a lot of money from Saudi Arabia and they're supporting Saudi Arabia and they're doing transactions and military equipment with Saudi Arabia.
We're right on board.
Yeah.
Apparently.
All right, Dick.
Thank you for that call.
So yeah, I was thinking why why aren't all these right wing groups here in in our country also considered terrorist organizations?
I don't know There is and I have this I look this up several far-right white supremacists and neo-nazi trans national groups are aligned with fascist Ideologies see so they
would
be the actual fascist groups.
Yeah, and they've been designated as specially
designated global terrorists.
And that would be SDGT, which is very similar to the FTOs, foreign terrorist organizations.
And it carries the same similar sanctions and penalties.
So these neo-Nazi transnational groups are here in this country, and they're in Europe, and they are also, they could be considered
terrorist organizations, but not.
Isn't it interesting how they did not go with neo-Nazis as a terrorist organization?
Right.
Why?
Why did they
single them out and not include them, but they went after any group that is actually opposing the administration that we have in this country, which is a fascist organization?
All right, anyway.
Okay.
I'm just asking the question.
Yeah.
Hey, I'm not committed to anything.
Okay.
Okay, just I'm kidding first.
I'm committed
to again being against them 19 minutes past the hour now rain showers today We'll be back with more of John and Gordy for a Tuesday after this on WMDX
It's here in the morning.
WMDX 92.7, it's John and Gordy and we'll be back again in the afternoon where we're making our home at
this point.
We're on from two until five in the afternoon throughout the statewide network and Pete Schwabba takes over at five o'clock.
That's his new start time.
We'll be
talking to Pete just a
little bit
before his show.
I have a
list of Christmas
Romcoms.
Really?
I know that he was talking about that and they kind of interested me in what is going on on the Hallmark Channel.
Right.
You know, there's other big entertainment news today.
Oh.
Have you heard who's going to be on SNL
as a
musical guest for the first time in 40 years?
No.
Cher.
Oh.
Okay.
She's going to be on Saturday Night Live.
Right.
Yeah.
She's still around.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So
she's something else, isn't she?
Jesus keeps going.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's go to the phones.
We have a CJ on the line.
What do you got for a CJ?
Good morning, gentlemen.
Thanks for taking my car.
Sure.
Boy, it's better than the Super Bowl entertainment, I tell you that.
Well, no, come
on, Sharers, Sharers,
great.
You like Sharer, right?
Sharer is
great, yeah.
I hope she wears that same outfit she wore on the ship.
All the time, yes, I know.
Well,
you're not a big Bad Bunny fan?
Yeah, Bad Bunny.
That might be a wardrobe melt function, but it'd be good.
She's fabulous.
Yeah.
you know i heard you guys uh i just had to call when i heard you criticizing the the end of dee i in the military what a beautiful thing thank god for that they're actually meeting their recruitment goals now they have merit actually has something to do with your position and advancement
I think it's awesome.
But what were the problems that they experienced in the military because of DEI?
What happened that made them get rid of DEI besides just being headed up by the Trump administration?
What happened?
What was it?
What were the problems?
DEI stands for discrimination, exclusion, and indoctrination.
It's not about how good you are.
I think you just described the
administration basically is what you did.
You know, you're, you're describing
what
Trump is doing and what Hexeth has done to the military.
And that is
to the recruitment goals.
Well, I don't know.
They're not meeting them.
They were looking at reinstating the draft, gentlemen, because of the Biden administration after Afghanistan and that disaster.
Who'd want to be in that group?
Who want to be in
this?
Really?
Who'd want to be in this administration?
Seriously, right?
No, I just, I have something.
Let me see here.
I have something.
There's a lawsuit going on.
In regards to that, I'm glad he brought it up.
Now, I'm just thinking about it here.
But by the way, when the Democrats take control, I want them to go out and designate this administration, an SDGT, which is a specially designated global terrorist.
Okay, because that is what they are appealing to.
They're appealing to neo-Nazis.
They are appealing to the supremacists out there.
This is a far-right fascist organization.
That is what the administration is.
They should be declared terrorists once the Democrats get in.
We can't have an organization like this.
We can't have, they definitely call themselves MAGA, but it's an easy identifier.
Essentially.
In fact, now there are groups out there, by the way, that are burning the red hats.
Oh, really?
Yes.
I haven't heard that.
I'm trying to get that story together for this afternoon.
So we'll get to that.
But thanks for bringing all that stuff up.
The military, maybe people are joining the military so they can oppose and get into our liberal cities and destroy what we have already.
Got a couple of
calls on the line here.
Let's get to Charles.
Good morning.
Yeah.
Good morning, Charles.
Go ahead.
Good morning.
There he goes.
He's calling again with what proof does this guy ever come with?
Um, DEI, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Yes.
This is what happens when you're an uneducated person and you don't know what the meaning of
of it really means diversity and inclusion.
It's about helping that young white kid who lives way up north that's never been into the big city that wants to go to school at either Madison or UW Milwaukee or Marquette.
It will help acclimate them to big city life.
It helps people in wheelchairs that want to go back to work.
to help them get a ramp and so they can be able to work with with everyday normal people that are not in wheelchairs.
It helps that military person that wants to go back, that's been in the military for 30, 40 years, that wants to go back to civilian life.
It helps them get acclimated to that life again of a normal citizen.
These people are so hateful and racist and I don't want to say that CJ is racist.
But the way he caused the things that he talks about makes me think that he's a racist white man and he's upset because people of color and women are in the military.
Yeah, I'm almost shy away from saying they're inadvertently racist by backing this stuff and believing this stuff.
They're not aware that perhaps this is a racist ideology.
And you know, we've heard the administration come out and say that they want
diversity of thought on the campuses.
They want more conservatives, but that is diversity.
So they are going against their own philosophy at this point of being against DEI.
Got more calls coming in, but we'll take a little time out here and check in with the Midwest Food and Farm Report with Pam Yankee and her crew.
Back with more of John and Gordy.
Mark is waiting on the line for us.
Got some other calls too.
coming right back after this.
Is
the afternoon staying up late?
It is for us.
John Accordi in the morning and this is WMDX 92.7.
That's
it.
Our weather for today cloudy and rainy all day long and then into tonight too
and
some of that rain could change over to a rain snow mix Keep it posted.
All
right.
Let's go to
Mark who's been
waiting on the line for us.
What do you got for us mark this morning?
Yeah, good morning.
Yeah, it's interesting that DJ brings up the same sorry Talking points again and again and again worrying about diversity equity inclusion and
Bringing up afghanistan again.
I'd remind cj that Donald trump was the guy who decided We were going to pull out of afghanistan and leaving all that equipment behind because they'd drawn down the troops down to like 2,500 troops by the time By the time joe biden had left office in that year and negotiated negotiated with terrorists, yeah I did no negotiated with terrorists freed five thousand some terrorists from from the prisons in afghanistan Didn't include the afghan government.
There's so enough of this
Just be on the whole Afghanistan.
Yes, people died and it's unfortunate they died.
But I mean, that's what happens when, you know, and why didn't Donald Trump continue to keep people get out our allies out of Afghanistan as soon as he signed that agreement and getting them
out.
And now they want to deport some of them back to Afghanistan, people who do we supported us.
And his CDs, opposition, diversity, equity, inclusion includes people like him, people with half wit ideas that
They come up with this stuff.
And these clowns that are playing about, all these conservatives, they feel so out of place on university campuses.
Well, when you go to a university, you're supposed to expect a diversity of opinion, not just your straight, white and closeted male ego that goes there.
And it is just deeply disturbing.
And Charlie Kirk, the hate that that man spewed in his life and denying, you know, saying that
Complaining about taxes being paid that Ignoring what Jesus said about paying taxes that the government's on you know is on our In the United States of America's on our dollar sword.
They say there's taxes on it.
We're supposed to pay them That's what Jesus, you know said and we're supposed to take care of the poorest among us by reading Matthew 25 right try understanding that and maybe to halt get a copy of John Fugles saying his book book
Oh, yeah.
I'm
getting there.
Yeah, I just started reading it a few days ago.
It's really excellent.
Perfect book.
And we'll have a guest from the Freedom from Religious Foundation as well, because I really want to talk to them.
They're really on top of this thing.
And we're talking about, you know, these racist
Fascist groups, you know the designation and everything and you know one of the things Brian brings up he says Brian from Madison professionally black since 1963 And he says white skin gets a pass at every turn shooters domestic terrorism all gets summed up under mental illness That's true white guys get the most breaks for being the most violent
in America.
And those are the facts.
We also have a comment here.
Kurt said, as a veteran, I take intense offense of his statement about recruitment is up for this administration because now they got rid of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Kurt writes, even if recruitment is up,
it's mostly due to the economy crashing.
As Reagan did when I enlisted in 1983, and I am pretty sure there is data to support that, and I remember that too.
A lot of people started signing up for the military because they can't afford to live out on their own, and they couldn't afford...
getting into college or in education so they went into the military in order to get their
education.
Back to the phones we go from Portage Traces on the line.
Good morning Trace.
Good morning gentlemen.
The thing that kind of blows me away is that so many of these people that are anti-DEI and big Trumpers also in the same breath claim to be Christian and it's just wild to me because you know
I'm pretty familiar with the scripture, and I'm sure every single one of them will be spat out because they're lukewarm.
And my thing is, you know, it's like that old saying goes, there's no hate like Christian love.
These people, you know, the fact, the minute that they saw that Trump was peddling signed Bibles, that should have been the moment, if not before.
But it's, you know, knowing the teachings of Christ,
You would not you'd want nothing to do with these people it just blows me away and and proceed I think see I don't know if she's just a plant to like rage beta Congratulations on the afternoon show now.
I'm listening to you on the way back from
work
Yeah, it is a plan.
Now he's we met him.
He's a good guy, but you know, he's a maga Politically it's just something weird that takes over Larry out in Deerfield writes regarding US Army recruitment being under Trump as CJ touted Here's an NPR report from May that indicates that there is data that shows this began before
Trump,
which I'm
not surprised with at all.
I am not surprised.
It is really an incredible thing.
Now, I want to get to this, as I mentioned, if the military is up and everything is just wonderful now that they got rid of DEI, reporter Aaron Parnast has a report about the military personnel now seeking lawyers.
Let's go to cut 106.
Let's listen.
Yeah.
Wow.
Isn't that amazing?
That is happening now.
Yeah.
Okay.
Not good.
That's not a good indication.
And, you know, a lot of people are concerned about being called up and, uh, and going to different states.
A lot of the National Guard say we played a clip.
a little while back in regards to that and some of them were very emotional, couldn't even talk, but they were worried that all of the service they put in that they were so proud of is now being trashed by Trump sending these troops, National Guard troops, into American cities and, you know, I guess ruining their reputation as National Guard.
I mean, they come in and they help people out in national disasters and they're there to help.
But in this way, this is just, this is ugly stuff.
It
really is.
I don't know.
It's just something, the DEI thing just seemed to rub me the wrong way and I can't imagine why anybody would think DEI is bad.
I just can't understand that at all.
We should be fostering diversity and Republicans.
continue to say that they want a more diverse campus and inner schools.
And one thing I just want to mention too, this Charlie Kirk thing.
I mean, this guy, he had friends that were black and he appreciated that and he liked black people because those black people liked him.
But he questioned everybody that he met who was black.
You wondered if they were qualified, remember?
I mean, you know, the airline pilots, right?
Yeah.
And that tells you a lot about what kind of person he was.
And I want to say this, and I think it's, I don't know, I probably get some flak from the Democrats on this, but I don't think any political party.
should be a part of our public education system at all.
I don't think these groups should be on our campuses.
I don't think they should be in our schools.
This is where it goes off the rails.
We loud the Democrats in, we loud the Republicans, young Republicans in.
We have them in our colleges.
It was a bad idea.
I think it's still a bad idea.
We shouldn't be, and I think it's propaganda.
They shouldn't be here on these campuses.
They learn enough in the classroom.
They have a chance to ask questions and explore new thoughts, learn new things.
They shouldn't be exposed to politics at a club.
in these colleges.
I just don't see it as very positive.
You can go off in the direction you want.
Once you get your education, go wherever the hell you want and associate it with whoever the hell you want.
But we shouldn't have these propaganda networks even for Democrats and Republicans in colleges.
I know I'm stepping out here.
Are you talking about private universities too?
They can do whatever the hell they
want.
They're private.
I know when I was in Oshkosh, you know, it was last year.
Every week there was someone outside screaming something as I was walking to class.
It was
every
single
week and it just got got to be a
lot.
It's just it's just wrong.
Why can't we see that?
Now I think we're going to start seeing it because they're really pushing this turning point USA really to get them in our middle and high schools.
It was seriously.
I mean, this is, this is a political organization and it's a very divisive political organization.
How could we possibly put up with this?
And I don't think a lot of people are buying into it.
Yeah, we've talked with Tim Slecker about that
for
busted pencils a number of times about turning point, getting into the schools down south.
Yeah, that's
what they're pushing for.
It's just
getting worse in some of these states.
And I don't know how we're going to have to deal with them eventually.
But yeah, it's one of those things.
Two more minutes.
Yeah.
You want to scroll back to Doug's?
You
can
control
it
there.
You want to
get to Doug's comment?
Well, I don't know if we're going to have time to get into it deeply here.
Well, maybe we should get
into it deeply.
But
we'd say this
for
the afternoon.
This is a true thing.
Yeah.
An article in a recent issue of Popular Mechanics reports that the active ingredient in Viagra is effective in reversing hearing loss.
Really?
Which goes to show we haven't been using Viagra.
No, you have
some.
I have some hearing
loss.
Yeah.
Really?
So
there's some ingredient within Viagra.
And that's true.
You looked it up.
Yeah.
Well, I'm looking at the Popular Mechanics article now.
Scientists figure out the secret to reversing hearing loss may be
Viagra.
There's something called Sildenafil.
That's an active ingredient in Viagra.
Apparently.
Yep, that's
the ingredient.
Takes care of hearing
loss.
Wow.
Well, maybe we should do an investigative research program, John, and see.
Well,
that's what Doug suggests.
Given that both of you recently got hearing aids.
To test this, why not have Gordy stop using hearing aids and a strong regimen of Viagra?
Well, okay.
Well, you know, there we go.
It does have some side effects, but you know, I'm willing to give it
a
shot.
How about you, John?
Well,
yeah, sure.
Okay.
All right, we'll work on that.
I don't know.
To workshop that.
Yeah, workshop
that dog.
Could
have some drawbacks, I think.
I don't know.
I think we're finding some flaws.
Okay.
Coming up next, Amy Horak will join us from David J. Frank.
Talk about lawns and gardens and it's all coming up.
Stay with us.
We're getting on the good foot.
This morning right here on
WMDX.
Yes, and joining us now is Amy Horak.
She's with David J. Frank Landscaping.
Always good to see you, Amy.
Always fun to be here, you guys.
Yeah, so, you know, weather today, all
rainy and
kind of misty.
And man, I'm dealing with the mice under my sink yet, you know.
Yeah, I'm trapping them now.
And then I take them across the street and let them go in the field.
Yeah, and then they find that hole.
They got into the house and they come right back in.
That's a question I have is because, you know, it's like across the street, it's in a field over there.
Your
house is warm and it has food in it to an endless supply.
And they know how to get back.
And there's
probably their babies are in there and they're like, nope, nope, nope,
coming back.
Do they know how to get back?
Do they know how to...
to find their way back to something like
that.
But they'd have to go across the street.
They'd have to find the house.
I
mean, you putting them across the street and being a mouse, when they have to run across the road, there are quite a few predatory birds that are like, hey, look, lunch.
So
you do put them into quite a obstacle course to get back to the safety of your.
house in
the walls,
but you know, if there's a will, there's a way.
If it's a smart mouse, it might make it.
If not, you just kind of put it back into the circle of life.
Well, I feel like I have an open door somewhere in my house that the mice are just coming
in
like crazy.
It's just driving me crazy.
But you know, now everybody in the in the family is like taking a flashlight looking under the sink to see if there's a mouse in there.
I mean,
As sad as it is probably the most humane way is like sometimes like the snap traps
because
if you do poison them
if they
get back out in outdoors if another animal's gonna eat it you're gonna kill whatever is gonna eat the poisoned rodent.
Well we don't do the poison and the snap traps didn't always kill.
They don't always kill either.
And it was just awful.
I can't handle that anymore.
It's never a fun thing to have to deal with.
There are traps.
There are traps, by the way, that have batteries in them and they zap them in the electrocutum right
away.
I
mean,
whatever gets it
done so they don't have to
suffer
as much.
No, not whatever gets you off.
Hey, let's talk
lawn
and garden
stuff now.
Yeah, let's get to that
right now.
Damn
mice.
That is
so part of
lawn and gardening.
I mean, you want to make
sure your house is good for the winter.
You don't want to have mice getting in because you didn't clean up like near the house and get all the leaves away because that's a good place for them to start nesting.
And then they'll find that hole and like get into the wall.
So.
Well, John and I had a big.
about his mulching and with the leaves and everything right before the show this morning.
I've
gone through the whole thing and I started raking and then I found raking with moist leaves was the easiest way to rake and then I got the leaf blower which I never really believed in but then I thought oh these are kind of fun you know and that but it seemed like it took a longer period of time leaf blowing.
Leaf blowing you got to either do it on a not windy day or you find a
to work with the wind at your advantage to go with the wind.
I think it's more for, like, window wells, you know, stairways on decks.
You know, it clears the leaves off around the house, around the edge of the house as well.
They're good to get
out, but not in the yard.
But not
in the bushes, too, if they're, like, packed up in the garden beds instead of trying to rake it out of, like, the junipers.
But let's get to my question here.
I am mulching them now.
You're mulching
off the leaves.
That's what I'm doing.
That's
the
easiest way.
I thought to take care of the leaves.
Is it okay?
Do they mat down to destroy grass?
What happens?
Um, so you can mulch them down.
Uh, I would say if they're fine, I wouldn't leave it as clumps.
So like if it leaves like strips along in the yard,
when you're mulching them, I would try
to spread that out with the leaf blower or a rake.
Um, otherwise, if you're going to mulch them, you could, if you have a bagger on your lawnmower, just having that collect up so that way you keep the lawn clean and then you can put those mulch leaves into the garden beds or into like a compost pile.
Um, that way it can provide.
any nutrients back to that and then also provide some winter coverage.
Some people like to do evergreen boughs to cover up like garden beds to keep any perennials, kind of keep their roots protected if we don't get enough snow.
So you can kind of do that same thing with leaf mulch too, but you'd want to keep the lawn a bit cleaner than just leaving a bunch of mulch all
over it.
The grass, if it's too much, it might kill it off, but a little bit's not going to hurt it that bad.
So we're talking maybe some snow tonight and you know it's that time of year where sooner or later we're gonna get some to cover up the ground for extended periods of time.
What should people be thinking about?
So for snow, you want to maybe take some snow stakes and line your driveway or your portion of the city sidewalk that you're responsible for clearing.
That way you can see how wide you have to clean it and just to be mindful of people that, hey, there's a walkway here.
Other things you can do, you can put gypsum down along the edges of any pavement surfaces.
So
that way the gypsum will have time over winter to break down.
It helps make the soil structure
a little bit more permeable to water so that way the salt and everything can go through the soil and
help
protect it from so much salt damage in the springtime.
So that's something if you can, if you find the time or desire to do so, it could help out preventing all that dead grass in the spring.
Okay, what about lights, holiday lights?
Holiday lights, if you...
Don't feel like getting up a ladder and hanging on yourself.
David J. Frank, we do holiday lighting install.
We'll put up trees, light the trees, light the house.
If there's anything that you would like to design with us, we can bring your vision to life and have it ready for this holiday season.
Okay, well that's that's really cool a lot of people don't want to take that on So
at least the weather's still decent, you know,
there's
not any snow on the ground yet, but the sooner the better
Yeah, okay.
Well Amy always good to talk to you You can find out more at davidjfrank.com.
