Johnny Banana and Gordy Grapefruit segue from first hour to a discussion about Republican Senator Ron Johnson's long-standing belief that healthcare, food, and shelter are "privileges" and not "rights". They countered Johnson by noting that the number of uninsured Americans dropped significantly from 48 million before the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to 26 million, explaining that a huge chunk of those 26 million would actually qualify for expanded Medicaid, which Wisconsin refuses to implement. Their frustration mounted when they heard Speaker Mike Johnson won't even commit to bringing the ACA tax subsidies to a vote before they expire.
Finally, they debunked the popular political talking point that SNAP (food stamp) usage exploded under President Biden, citing a chart that showed the number of people receiving SNAP was the same as under President Trump in 2018.
